Elyon knew that "Romance" is not his strong point. He writes a fantasy story with romance, but he can't tell if the romance will be able to attract female readers. Out of curiosity, he asked some of his fellow authors the question "Why do you read romance stories?"

Here are their answers…

Reili: To fill my empty void of a love life.

Minrei: Because romance let you feel what is to be loved, plus it is universal you dont need to learn magic or cultivation in order to read.

Bajj: Due to lack of romance irl.

Murakami: I read because I enjoy the friction and conflict between the FL and ML. The insistence vs resistance is naisu.

Qin: I reads romance only for ideas and info.

VlassisBehrakis: I don't read romance novels.

Yin: I read romance novels because I want that kind of drama to happen to me in real life. But I know it will never happen haha.

A Certain Irresistible Meowlin: I wonder why? And I do read romance novels. Though the chance of me dropping them is also the highest out of all the genres. Every so often I come across a scene that makes me just want to squeal and fangirl.

Elyon decided to dig deeper and asked a few of his senior "romance authors" some questions about their reason for writing romance stories.

The first question is… Why did you choose to write Romance Stories?

Anjeeriku: I'm comfortable writing romance stories compared to other genres. I'm a helpless romantic person and I like novels that can invoke other people's feelings.

Bajj: First of all, I like reading romance story. It was the reason why I read books before and reading other genres comes after. All in all, due to these romance fiction books, I got the opportunity to read more great books with different genre.

MishaK: That's what I read, so write that too.

Zehell2218: Because as reader, I want to read romance novel so when I write, I write romance since my motto is I write what I want to read.

Ikazainudin: The easiest genre. Everyone can relate.

End_of_Era: It wasn't a full on Romance, it was slice of life with romance which I feel was necessary with progression of the characters.

The second question… When you were making your ML and FL, did you imagine yourself as the lead of your story at any given point in time?

Anjeeriku: I would be a liar if I said no. There were instances that I'd put myself in my FL's shoes. Whenever that happens, my writing feels more passionate and truthful that sometimes it was hard to know where my fl starts and where I end. 

Shen Yi, LMD's ML was based on a person I've lost, The One That Got Away so it was sometimes hard not to self-insert whenever there were scenes that need to invoke feelings from readers. 

Bajj: I believe that every character the author was making and breathing life into it, a part of him/her is added to its character. But me imagining of being the ML/FL, never. I'm too pure for that. Kek

MishaK: Yes I did but sometimes. Otherwise you can't infuse emotions in your characters. It is important to understand your characters.

Zehell2218: Yes, I imagine myself as the lead. Of course, I tweak it a bit, such as in age and appearance. But mostly, the characteristics is similar to me.

Ikazainudin: FL and ML character based on what I want to be irl. Yup. I imagine that will be my love story.

End_of_Era: Yes, my leads had some ocassional self insertion.

The third question… If you were to choose some other genre aside from romance, what would you pick?

Anjeeriku: Fantasy. I always look up to those authors who can write fantasy stories/novels well. I believe writing a fantasy novel is harder than writing romance.

Ai~ there's a few more that I won't add to the list because it will create a wall of text. Well anyways, the reason why I read these stories is to get an idea on "WHY" the ladies love to read them.

Let's just say that it's a unique way to see a world in the eye of a lady (if you are a man of course). When done properly, the execution of the story can capture the hearts of anyone, even male readers. I believe that no matter what gender you are, as long as you find the story interesting then it doesn't matter whether you are a guy or a gal no?

Perhaps, when I'm not too busy to write my stories, I'll once again pick a romance novel to read. Hopefully, I will find another hidden gem that will bring unexpected surprises to anyone who are lucky enough to find them.

I was falling very fast, so fast i almost caught on fire.

I thought off brown wings but brushed it off and started thinking of golden metallic ones. It looked almost clear in my head. Like I've become very intelligent. Oh so these are the manager stats.

I started flying through the forest like the do in movies like "how to train your dragon" and "big hero 6" when they figure out they can fly. It was fun. Fantasy was becoming my thing. I mean i liked to fly and shoot magical freeze orbs than back on earth where i marched to my room after school to study and had extra classes on Saturday's and Sunday's.

Tl;dr - Reincarnated mechanical engineer brings about industrial revolution in the Medieval Era (imagine going on an invention spree in the 14th century introducing steam engines, Newton's laws, Einstein's theories etc. Become the greatest scientist in the history and rule over the world), with the help of witches that are falsely called the devils incarnate by the Church. The world building is great, the translator is amazing and this story is a must read!!

The first thing I will say is that the title doesn't justify the story. If I was to sum up the story till now, it would be 'Engineer in Another World'. An interesting theory XD
The MC is level headed, smart, and he thinks like a student of science, and not like some stubborn and foolish idiot. He is nither arrogant nor a coward.
This is a story of an engineer being reincarnated in another universe, as a good-for-nothing prince and will fight against his siblings for the throne. And he uses science and stuff from his previous life in this world, which is still in the era of kingdoms using swords and crossbows, and becomes the overlord of the world.
Imagine you being reincarnated in 1500s. I will invent electricity, machines and everything I've learnt, and name then all after me. I will become the God of the masses and get worshipped by the whole world XD. Our MC is not that arrogant. He is humble and respects everyone, unlike a lot of novels. And there are witches in the story. From the sypnosis we get that the witches are hated by the whole world and our MC fights for them. I won't spoil it for you guys.
From the story so far, I think there will be lots of scheming, planning, plotting and conning others in the future chapters. Till now there has been no mention of things like cultivation levels or anything such. I don't think it will be a story where the MC is nuts about cultivation and becoming an immortal, which is different from a lot of xianxia novels, and I think this is one of the really good points about this story. The author is doing a good job at building the world, and I would recommend this novel very much

CRITICAL REVIEW :

Release that Witch is a surprising read in a sea of webnovels. It isn't perfect, and I'll elaborate on that, but it's above the garbage often seen. There won't be plot spoilers in this review except the obvious "Yeah he helps witches" so continue with that in mind. Enjoy my mini-novel review.
Unlike most CN webnovels, RtW distances itself from Wuxia and enters the magic flintlock genre. With a setting reminiscent of medieval times, you've got a cast of knights and nobles and peasants. This isn't a new concept. In fact, it's old and worn. But it's how it's done despite the tropes, and for the most part, the author managed well. The twist is that the protagonist comes from our modern day, and this twist carries the story in both obvious ways and more subtle ones.
Had the first chapter never mentioned the origins of the protagonist, it would've been hard to realize at a glance. The name of this regular guy is soon forgotten as he takes upon the role of Roland, the fourth prince, and you will probably only know him as such. The previous Roland was a fool, as often these stories make them be, so when our modern day hero takes over, it becomes a familiar journey of climbing to kingship. He no slave or farm boy, but his status as nobility begins low relative to his siblings, and gives us, the reader, something to cheer for.
This brings up the advantages of a modern day man in a period lacking knowledge. But as you can imagine by the title, what keeps this in the fantasy genre is the inclusion of witches, giving Roland cards to play on his path to glory, literally and figuratively.
Witches are ostracized as devils and killed. Their powers are clearly seen and isn't mystical voodoo no one believes. And our protagonist becomes their friend. Whether it's because he's interested in a scientific standpoint or he's a friendly guy isn't important. What's important is the role witches play in the grand scheme of things.
Roland's Border Town becomes a bastion for them. His kindness and acceptance toward witches attracts a flock who aid and make possible things that would otherwise be impossible. Like many novels in epic fantasy, it becomes too much, and details become lost. Because of the story's scope, beside a select few witches, many of them take a backseat and are reduced to tools to help Roland grow his empire. This is a shame because the cast of said witches is fun and varied. Unfortunately you'll only familiarize yourself with certain ones, and the rest are non-existent until the protagonist has use of their power.
Those powers have an important role, and it's here that magic and technology mix. Roland's ability to rise up depends on magic, boosting his ability to quickly reach the industrial age of guns and manufacturing. You'd think one might overwhelm the other, but balance is kept in check. There are clear advantages to witches, yet they're no army. By helping witches, he's given the chance to command an army unlike any seen before, and with his knowledge, the overwhelming advantages he has crushes the opposition and gives Roland a legitimate claim to the throne.
I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, he should know things others do not. On the other hand, he knows too much. Roland was a mechanical engineer before, but apparently he knows chemistry, biology, the education system, war tactics, shipbuilding, and who knows what else. Basic knowledge is fine. What this guy has is unacceptable, however.
"Hey, I'm going to write a chemistry textbook telling you every formula in the world. By the way I'm going to jot down a 500 page manual on how2biology. And I'm going to rewrite an entire play or three, by memory, perfectly. But wait there's more! I'll add in a physics course for free. Did I mention I'm a master plumber, farmer, and blacksmith? Hell, have some music theory too, because I'm a mechanical engineer who took some GE classes and we can all do that while governing an entire city as a full-time job."
Like, what? Some defend this, but there's literally nobody who can do this. Stop trying to "logic" it. Can anyone recite every country in the world by heart, right now, and every state and city and province? Can they list the periodic table in its entirety 20 years after they've long forgotten their high school chemistry class? Do they have seven phDs and a photographic memory? Literally autism. And if you don't want to admit that, then Roland's a Mary Sue, period. Frankly, being overpowered is fine. But let's call this story what it is and not pretend it's anything otherwise. Release that Witch is a power fantasy for teenage and young adult men.
Only in foreign webnovels do protagonists get a pass for being overpowered, which is called bad writing anywhere else. Even Superman has his Kryponite, whether it's a rock or vulnerable friends he must care for. Millions are enthralled by something like Game of Thrones because the characters are human. They are flawed and morally gray men and women who may not survive to the end. Protagonist-chan? He might as well be an alien, because nobody is perfect.
And this is an issue because I've never been concerned for Roland's well-being. He's perfect, and thus boring. While he's no fighter, he doesn't need to be. He is in no danger because he's not one step ahead but twenty steps. I'm quite certain that a witch introduced hundreds of chapters ago, who has never done a damned thing, will suddenly become relevant at a critical point. Then he's going to say, "Just as planned." But because the author didn't give our hypothetical witch any show time, it'll look like our prince pulled it out of his behind. Rest assured, Roland has his bases covered with a plethora of beautiful women surrounding him. He doesn't need to worry about them, either, since they're also ridiculous.
What's also boring is how dull his knowledge can be. It drags the story down when the author harps on about molecules. Imagine a football fan yapping in your ears about his favorite team while the season is airing. Now imagine you not giving a shit, since you'd rather watch Rick and Morty or Futurama or something. This is what it's like when the author writes about details no one cares about. Your eyes glaze over and you skip entire paragraphs as terms you've never heard of are talked about. Please stop. Go back to the story.
Speaking of story, like many in epic fantasy, there are multiple factions with intrigue and espionage in the background. There's a cabal of witches, the church, and the princes and princesses vying for control. The writer touches upon all of them in a third person omniscient point of view, meaning you see what happens at a bird's eye distance and hear the thoughts of all characters. The reader is in the know of things our protagonist is not, and of events he doesn't witness. Possibly good, probably bad. Although we learn more about the world than Roland does, we don't get to experience the surprises in store for him in the future because we'll be in the loop. I personally lean toward this being a negative because this just becomes info dumping and telling rather than showing. Where's the mystery if the author introduces a new character, then immediately tells us his secrets? His life story, his children's stories, and the name of the gopher in his front yard--there goes whatever interest I have in said person.
Another negative is the grammar. For a translated novel, it's okay. But being readable doesn't mean it's correct, and if you're someone who understands basic grammar rules, little things will bother you. Punctuation and dialogue tags, for example, or the incessant use of passive voice. The editors could do a better job. For the last time, you can smile dialogue. When will they learn?
Now I'm going to talk about what this story is and isn't. Despite the roster of witches, all of whom are women, this is not a harem. It has the potential, but it isn't and hopefully won't be. This story is also small on romance. Because of the cast size, Roland doesn't have time to dote upon characters you may or may not ship together. It's present and there, but it's a subplot. Though some may praise the romance, I can't, because I don't see it becoming more than superficial. There's maybe one chapter focusing purely on relationships as of the 200s. How this is good romance is beyond me. RtW is and will always be about Townbuilding 101 and the politics that come with it.
If the main course of the novel is reaching a modern day quality of life, then witches and magic and such are like the side dish to add flavor to the meal. If one witch is salt and another is pepper, you'll get a lot of salt and pepper. But again, because of the story's scope, you're not going to get much paprika or garlic or chives. They're there, but only as one-dimensional additions. Let's not mention the named knight or three. Unfortunately, you may forget who half the cast is. But if you love the few characters that get the screentime of an A-list actor, you're in for a wild ride.
Anyhow, if I had to recommend a Chinese webnovel to a reader who doesn't like Chinese webnovels, this story would be my first suggestion. At the same time, it's so far away from the typical CN story that it almost doesn't qualify as one, yet technically it is. There's no saving face or retarded "can't see Mount Tai" or wow, he can't decide whether he should laugh or cry 100x. It's not a story of self-improvement by getting lucky finding an artifact, then senseless slaughter. It's a standard western epic fantasy that also suffers from CN webnovel tropes, and whether that's what you want or not, that's what you'll get. It's unique, but not unique. It's done okay, but certainly not groundbreaking.
I cannot get over the detachment I feel for most characters. I like the characters placed in the backseat, never to be heard from again. I like the subplots that'll never be brought up in the future. Instead I read pointless specifics on topics I couldn't give a rat's ass about. Instead I learn Roland paves some roads, and maybe adds a few more witches I'll forget exists. Worst, I'll never be worried about him because I know the fourth prince will pull through unscathed. Why, then, should I or any reader care what happens? The stakes aren't high. They're as low as the dirt under our feet. And when the hero doesn't struggle to achieve his goals, then he didn't earn those victories. Roland is given them on a silver platter, and suddenly, everything he accomplishes is diminished. Zero tension, because every battle is already won.
That doesn't mean I didn't like it. It's still enjoyable. But the fun factor degrades. So I have to ask myself why I should read this pseudo western fantasy. Why should I read RtW when I can read Patrick Rothfuss? Why should I read RtW when I can read Brandon Sanderson, or George R.R. Martin? These known fantasy authors have been picked up by publishers because their work are proven sellers, and have years of practice under their belt in writing. Release that Witch competes in the same genre, but doesn't have the same polish. So for a webnovel it's above average, but compared to published novels vetted by professionals, it has glaring flaws. By virtue of setting alone comes its own pros and cons.
Lastly, I want to say that the story really drags when the releases slow down. Because it reads differently, the pace is different and does not fit the norm of CN webnovels. If you binge read it, the experience is better, but the translators are not keeping up as of late, and my interest in the story suddenly tanked. And once I let the story sit in my mind for a while, I realized it's really as good as people say it is.
Tl;dr, Release that Witch is pretty good for what it is. Release that Witch is also pretty bad for what it pretends to be.

"It's so pointless, pretending to be diligent and hardworking to win sympathy," another young man said.
The princes poked fun at each other, while the women by their side chuckled graciously.
Another man said, "He also brought his boorish friends into the residence. The two young women are very beautiful, but the two men are plain-looking. They can't be shown to the world."
Plain-looking? Was he referring to me? Are you serious?
Li Xianyu had only a few advantages in life. With his looks, he was an expert who had dated many young ladies online. Lady Killer was also good-looking, with a pair of seductive eyes, enough to make women weak in their knees.
Faced with the insults of his brothers, Long Aotian looked calm as he stood up straight, with his hands by his side. "What if someone in the world slanders me, bullies me, insults me, laughs at me, despises me, hates me and deceives me? What should I do?"

Those things purely existed in everyone's fantasy, which evoked a bittersweet feeling. Most people could only face up to reality, ultimately. However, in this virtual world, one could enjoy one's life as much as you like.

He could not keep his eyes on the woman's face for more than three seconds. Otherwise, Long Aotian would show his displeasure.
"Bully my brother, I'll kill your family.
Bully my woman, I'll break your manhood.
I can bully your brother, but you can only tolerate it.
I can sleep with your woman, but you still have to tolerate it."
This was the fate of Xiao Baiwen's male leads. Li Xianyu, who had been hooked on Xiao Baiwen's novels since he was in junior high school, understood the way his supporting characters acted in order to survive.

"Shit! Why the heck can't I find anything good to read all these authors are just killing these good stories with their stupidity shit man!" the boy said.
The boy then closed the laptop, jumped onto his bed and screamed "I don't like these shitty stories or going to work I just want to stay home, read good stories and sleep" afterwards due to the tiring activities at work earlier in the day the boy fell asleep. "I really wish I lived in the dragon ball universe, it would be so much fun, girls, space, power what more can a guy want" The boy mumbled in his sleep as he dreamed of himself going on various legendary adventures with beautiful women.
The boy, Drazure is a recent high school graduate, now working at one of the best paying organizations in the country. Drazure from childhood had shown a great interest in reading, he read anything he good get his hands on especially stuff about super heroes or any fantasy setting. 
Drazure was very intelligent growing up always in the top ten in class and enthusiastic about learning, he was also active physically learning martial arts and participating in every sport in his schools but was generally weak in the area when it came to relationships, in all his 18 years soon to be 19 he only had one official girlfriend. The relationship lasted for over half a year quite long compared to his friends but it ended up dissolving because he was too focused on his studies when he should have been intimate with his girl. 
After his graduation drazure applied to one of the most prestigious universities of the region in which he got accepted but to his dismay his parents could not afford his tuition nevertheless, not fazed he applied for a scholarship through the government which unto this day hasn't confirmed or denied saying the official will speak to him when he returns from abroad.
Seeing the helplessness of his situation he decided to take a gap year in which he would work before reapplying for scholarships in the New Year.
Few minutes back Drazure was arguing about the terrible dragon ball fan-fics up on the various web novel sites none of which felt good to him. Dragon ball was the first anime he watched and it introduced him into the whole world of Japanese sub-culture. He just wanted a good novel that would entertain him but he just could not find it.
"Wake up! Wake up; its 6:00 am get up for work" A loud voice woke Drazure out of his sleep. It was his mother Caroline, since a few years back he started live with mother and 3 sisters after his parents divorced.
"I am up! I am up!"  Shouted Drazure as he lazily got out of bed and started getting ready for another day of work. "Ah, another boring day of work, I hope there is some good new novels out there and new chapters today. Ah, what a boring life"
 When drazure finished dressing he went to the dining room for breakfast, sitting at the table was his mom and two of his sisters Alexandra and Alexa they were in the 9th and 8th grade respectively. 
"Where's Annabell" asked Drazure as he looked at the table then at his mother. His sister Annabell is almost 10 years bigger than him and works as a lawyer.
"You know she doesn't sleep here regularly; she's big enough to look after herself you don't need to worry about her, come hurry up and eat then go to work" said Caroline as she started to eat her breakfast.
After eating and packing his bag Drazure started to leave before turned and shouted "I am leaving" "See you later" was the reply he got from his mom.
Drazure caught a bus and went to work as he normally tries to save money by not using a taxi. At work he saw his friend Solomon and his colleagues Karl, Shaniah, James, Garfield, Cynthia and Mr. Bart.
"Morning everybody" he as he walked in "Morning" they replied after and then continued what they were doing. 
Everyone was laughing and discussing current issues like politics and stuff on social media. This was the typical day at the office for everyone since hardly did any work and if there was work it would be field work.  
Afternoon
The day passed with nothing done but talking this was why drazure said work was boring but he was glad he had nothing to do. As everyone started to leave and go home Drazure decided to stay and read some more novels.
"Damn look at the time I need to go now I can't believe I was so focused on reading that 7:00pm came so fast" Drazure said to himself as he packed up and turned off the appliances before rushing out and waving off the guard. "I'm going" he said as he rushed out of the gate.
As he was rushing out and onto the road he heard a strange sound like the sliding of a car

Before he could understand what it was, a bright light blinded him then he felt something hit his body along with the feeling of floating in the air next he felt his body land.
"What, what is happening" That was the last thought Drazure had before darkness engulfed his mind.

It has been a day after Goswin met the goddess and she was still meditating in the shack, he was outside cooking a rabbit he managed to catch from one of his traps a respectable distance away from the shack as to not disturb the goddess.

"It is fortunate that the win is blowing the scent of the smoke away, I wouldn't want her to be distracted by it." Goswin thought as he took out the cooked rabbit from the fire and started to eat.

Then the door of the shack opened and the goddess stepped out and looked around.

"Your holiness! Over here!"

Fasha looked to his direction and gave him a confused look.

"Why are you so far away?!" She shouted.

"I didn't want you to be distracted by my disgraceful cooking your holiness."

The goddess chuckled and walked to where he is. When she sat down she gave him a smile which Goswin responded with a bow.

"No need to be so formal with me Champion, you can act comfortable around me if you like."

"Thank you your holiness."

"What did I just say?"

They both laughed at this.

"Also, a bit of smoke wont distract my meditation and that rabbit sure looks tasty, can I have a bite?"

"Oh! How uncourteous of me thinking only of myself! I'm deeply sorry your holiness!"

Fasha shook her head. "It's fine, it's fine. It's nothing compared to letting a loyal follower and our champion live without us guiding him personally."

They both fell silent.

"Can I taste your cooking?"

"Yes your holiness."

"Just call me Fasha, please."

Goswin gave Fasha a significant portion of the cooked rabbit, which lead her to sigh.

"Goswin."

"Yes your holi- I mean yes Fasha?"

"That's better. And you do remember that our blood only makes you immortal but not invulnerable right?"

"Well I am a goddess and I only need faith and meditation as sustenance while you on the other hand need all the basic necessities of a living being."

"The blood of the gods only lets one live in halted ageing, but I am still vulnerable to wounds, diseases and the mortal needs."

"Good, and that is why you need this more than I do." Fasha gave him the larger portion of the rabbit. "And how old were you again when you received our boon?" She asked.

"Sixteen Summers." Goswin replied.

Fasha chuckled "And you are actually two hundred something years old now , such a misleading thing seeing you as a mere boy."

"What about you your holi-"

"Be informal."

"O-oh, umm... so what about you? why are you in that form?"

Fasha tilted her head. "Don't you like it?"

"N-no! Not at all! Your... form is... beautiful your holiness."

Fasha laughed and pushed he hair to her back. "Flattering yet sincere, I like that."

Before Goswin could respond the goddess stood up closed her eyes, she started to move her head around as if following something before stopping and giving out a gasp.

"Finally! I have located my sister! Goswin, quickly come to me and lets transport ourselves to her!"

Goswin quickly stood up and went to the goddess's side and Fasha took his hand and started to chant a teleportation spell and then, they both disappeared into the thin air.

0500 Hours, Camp Knight.

Joseph Wilkins was on guard duty on the front gate of camp Knight and is bored as hell. At first hearing that that they were going to be deployed he didn't think he'd be transported into fantasyland and even then, he thought it'd be more exciting.

He saw two figures walking towards the gate, he immediately radioed all nearby watch towers.

"Watchtowers didn't you see two people approaching?." He asked the watchtower guards who were supposed to alert him about any oncoming personnel so he could be prepared.

"What people? I had my eyes on the main road the whole ti- wait, what the fuck, how come we didn't see these two?" The reply came from one of the watchtowers.

"Weapons ready! Keep it trailed on those two I'm going to attempt to make contact with them." He unslinged his weapons and walked slowly towards the two and raised his none-firing hand to a stop signal.

"Halt! This area is under the US army! State your intentions!" He shouted in Valecan.

The two figures looked at each other and then his radio crackled to life.

"Yo I think the girl's eyes are glowing, careful man." The watchtower cautioned him.

The girl walked forwards and an orb started to form in her hands.

"Shit! Dude watch out!" The watchtower exclaimed as Joseph leveled his rifle.

"ARMY TRAITORS YOU SHALL PAY FOR BETRAYING ME AND MY SISTERS!" the girl's voice boomed.

"OPEN FIRE!" The watchtower personnel shouted.
