Does that mean I can get more information while observing my enviroment as well as objects and creatures in it?

Thinking about it too long doesn't do me any good. Let's try it out for now. I looked intensely at the mushrooms that I had eaten a little while ago.

Suddenly a name popped up above the mushroom.

Hmm... not much information just yet... maybe I should try observing other things, it seems to activate on it's own if I really want it too.

Giving it another shot I stared at the water when again a name popped up.

Haha... what did I expect?

But while I'm at it I'll try it on everything.
Next I looked at the moss and the rocks when suddenly both names popped up.

I don't know what I was hoping for... wait...
Wasn't that mushroom sort off poisonous? 

It even gave me <Poison Resistance> right?
Would my observation skill work on me as well?

Thinking had about it, suddenly a window popped up in front of me revealing something interesting.

Hmm... so it appears It doesn't give me much information.

Right after I closed the window a voice sounded in my head. Enough experience has been accumulated.

Oh... it leveled up? Does this mean I get more information? Quickly I turned around and looked at the mushrooms I had eaten once more.

Hmm... more information appears after leveling up, it seem now it has some flavour text giving me more information.
It could proof to be useful in the future. Hmm...
What would happen if I observe the water, moss and rocks again?

Hmm... The flavour text seems to be useful in a way.

Now I know that ponds with moss would provide perfect drinking water. It also seems that it is now certain that I am residing inside dungeon?

Along the way I should try and observe other things, maybe it would help me find out more...

Continuing on my Journey I found that the area would go down, following the path nothing much out of the ordinary could be seen, still not knowing how big or small I was or where I was for that matter I wandered around aimlessly.

When suddenly I stumbled upon something that I would regonice without having to observe it!

Foot prints!
But what kind of footprints?

Quickly I walked towards the prints.
Getting closer there was no doubt in my mind,
But to be certain I used my observation skill.

Footprints made my the average footsize of a human being. I was right!!
These are actual human footprints!

Standing next to them it was clear just how small I really was. Being only as big as the footprints themselves I roughly amounted to 30 centimetres or so.

Extremely small if you ask me...
Man... The beast from before would have been at least 5 meters tall! Holy Shit!

But... isn't the most important factor that they actually exist? Human beings actually exist in this world! Then... does this mean I am still on earth?

Deciding to follow the path I hoped to find what I was looking for, but for some reason I expected to at least come across some other species while following the footprints. Instead, there was nothing...

Odd... seeing as where I came from,

at least some other species should have been there, Right? Thinking back...

Oh Boy! I can see a list of skills that I've required in my short lifespan. Upon closing I made my way along the path of footsteps. Along the way I kept thinking about my stats and points. I mean... I know I had just been born... but really? My stats were way too low...

Thinking about my future I had to find a way to enable cighting capabilities. <Tail Swipe> seems to do the trick, but I need more options...

Something like a typical bite, scratch or tackle.
You know, basic attacks like in pocket monsters.

Thinking in that logic, wouldn't tail swipe be rather strong? Then again... it requires my entire body to turn around, leaving me vulnerable for an attack if it misses... Hmm... it seems I'm not yet there...

Can't I learn some kind of acid spit attack to melt away my enemies? This would give me the advantage of attacking from a distance.

"Want to learn Acid Spit? 5 skill points required."

Wow!! So... isn't this system really amazing?!
It even allows me to learn suggested skills!

Thinking about the usefulness of the skill it seems fair to ask for the amount of skill points.

Would I be able to learn Scratch, Bite and Tackle?

Suddenly a window popped up.

Hmm... I don't know just yet... wouldn't I be able to learn the basic skills just by executing them often enough?

Thinking about it that way, it would be better to save my points for more important skills.

The window closed and I went on my way.
Haha, time to find a way to acquire them.
Thinking about this all, doesn't it feel like a videogame?

This isn't good right? I did survive an onslaught of the huge beast... but I think it's important to get as much experience as possible.

And... why don't I have a name here?
I had one in my previous life.

Being called Mira, my mother chose that name.
Hehe, I really liked it!

So... it appears I do have a name now,

But does it really matter? There is no one to talk to either way... hmm... getting my hopes up for nothing.

In any case, I'm getting hungry again.

I heard reptiles are able to go without food for a really long time, but honestly I have just been born so I can use all the food I can find.

Even so, going without food for so long might only apply for the big guys or it could be it doesn't really apply here in this world.

I should make finding a food source my number one priority. How would my sibling have tasted? Would it have been better if I too had eaten one of them?

The only reasonable information I have are these footprints, even if I'm not entirely sure it are human foot prints, they would lead to more information.

Following them would let me find out who they they were from. Another certainty is that I wouldn't run into any creatures they couldn't handle. It would be best to find a way out,

it would help to also find some leftovers which they could have left behind.

What would I do when I find them?

Wouldn't they start attacking me a lizard out of the blue? Although ideally I wish to come to an understanding I do doubt this would be possible any time soon...

Wouldn't they amount as prey either?

Aarrrgghh no... the idea alone makes me shudder... Being a former human and all...

Oh...?

The footprints... they stopped, right here at the entrance of the cave.

The anxiety hidden in Qiao Yu's heart erupted at once. He looked at her coldly and questioned, "Are you really planning to ask Enoch to call someone else dad?"
"Ha…" Xia Ning chuckled. She raised her hand to rub her lips and looked at him with a ghostly smile. "Do you think that by coming back with you today, it means that I'll compromise to you because of Enoch? Qiao Yu, are you crazy?" That look was so seducing, but it was just like the opium poppy, beautiful but deadly.
Looking at how she was ridiculing him, Qiao Yu felt his heart aching.
Yes, this was her revenge to let him taste what she experienced before.
"Yes, Enoch is my son. But Qiao Yu, it does not mean I have to sacrifice everything for him," Xia Ning looked at Qiao Yu and said calmly. "I thank you very much for what you've done for him but as I said before. It was your responsibility. You are his father and you took custody of him."
"But you are still his mother!" Qiao Yu said in a low voice, his face as dark as ink.

"So why did you come?"
Xia Ning was caught by surprise. Why did she come? She curled her lips. "Maybe it was because I didn't want to feel sorry for someone. For my own peace."
"You are right. Enoch does not need this kind of mother's love." The cold voice of the man sounded from behind. Following that was the sound of him leaving.

How could a fountain do such creepy things,right? There is a missing piece of the fountain that has to find out according to the legend.

"Do not ever talk about it. Avoid making it as a topic to a conversation. It is not true and there is such unwanted things on that old fountain,understand? And class,please do not tell a story to others because as that myth spread out,it would have different versions." she added to her speech.

"Yes,ma'am." we answered. After that announcement,no one dare to make a side comment about the Fountain of Death but I am curious--I mean I wanna know about that Fountain. I don't think ma'am Madriaga is telling the truth. There is really something in there but I can't figure it out.

"Still wondering about the fountain?" someone talks behind me but I refuse to see who is he because he is the guy who hitted my back lately. I still don't know his name and I don't care about his name. 
Instead of answering his question,I pack my things. I dont want to talk this guy or even staying in a place where I can feel his presence. "You know what? There is something from you,I just dont think it clearly but there is really something that is valuable from you." he keeps on talking but I don't care.  He was about to say something when I cut him off.

"Look,classmate. I am not interested to your nonsense topic. If I still wondering about the fountain then its none of your business. If there is something about me? Then maybe because nobody is the same in this world. Now,if you're not going to say such sensible things then better to shut your mouth!" I don't know why I say those things. I just can't control my temper now. Not now because no body remember my birthday! My parents not even bother to greet me. Only my nanny. I am a human too! So why they see me as nothing?! I--I just can't hold it on now....
I ran out of the room and tears starts to flow from my painful  eyes. Before  anyone can see me, I decided to go to the comfort room and I burst  in tears. I still not get use to it because I always hoping that one day,everything will be in my favor. 
I compose myself before going out after that momentum. I am like this, crying in a place where I am the only one and going out as if nothing happened. 
I still have my next class within an hour so what do I need to do?  

I went to the canteen and I saw that bratt girl,Betinna. Having fun with her friends. I lost my appetite  seeing her face. I only have one place to go and that is in the rooftop of the main building. 

It's  a tiring walk because I only went here through the stairs. This place is comfortable because nobody is going here. They would rather spend their time in the canteen or in the field watching those freshman colleages playing different sports. 
The weather is fair so I can feel the fresh and strong blow of the wind. I close my eyes... "I wish I could have a friend to talk with." I say those words still hoping.
"I can be your friend." someone answered so I open my eyes and see who is behind me. 
"It's you again." I whispered to myself.
He walks towards  me and he lean to the railing where we can see the fountain of death--literally death because it is shaded with a color gray. Lifeless. 
Why is this guy following me? Feeling close.
I lean into the railings too and I am looking at the color gray clouds. "Who are you?-- I mean we don't know each other very well so why do you keep following me?" I look at him,waiting for his response. 
He sighs. " I am not following you,you are the one who follows me." 
What? This guy! I am loosing my temper huh. " How do you say so?" I raise my left eyebrow.
He look at me and for the moment I see his eyes,I felt something that is strange. I don't know if its only me or there is really a fire in his eyes. But how can an ordinary man having that kind of eyes and how--- I pause what I am thinking as he talks.
" Layne, know yourself before others...before saying that we don't know each other. Yeah,maybe you don't know me and you even don't know that I knew you very well." he stand straight and sigh again. " By the way,I gotta go. Just wish to yourself if you need me. I'll be right here." he said before leaving.
 I do not know if he used illegal drugs or he is already has a mental disorder. Imagine that? after following me, offering to be friends with him, and sayjng those words then he just leave me those lines of him. I don't need him and I don't  even dare to wish about his presence.

"Oh,I forgot..." he is here again! What does he need? "Happy Birthday." and with that, he's gone. What was happened does not sinking in to my mind. Did he? Did he just greet me a happy birthday? OoO. Who is he,really?

"No. It's nothing." Hao Baiyun answered and passed by Hou Ling who had a shocked look on his face as he stared at Hao Baiyun. 
"AAAAAH!!! Yi Bing! Yi Bing!" Hou Ling called from outside. 
Yi Bing heard Hou Ling's cry for help but he ignored him since he was avoiding Hao Baiyun's gaze falling to him. "Hm?" Hao Baiyun muttered when he saw a shadow moved next to the corpses. 
"Young master Hao?" the man behind called his attention. 
"Strange…" Hao Baiyun muttered as his brows knit while he looked at the direction of the corpses. "I think I saw something – " 
"Who the hell are you?" someone's voice broke his thoughts. 
Hao Baiyun turned and saw a policeman looking at him filled with hostility. He's already used to this so he gave him his professional smile. "Hi. I'm Hao Baiyun, from the Supernatural Department – " he said. 
Someone laughed, cutting his speech. "Supernatural?" someone said, mockery in his voice. "We don't believe in such a thing. Go play somewhere else, kid – " he said. 
Hao Baiyun's eyes narrowed. His figure flashed and in the next second, he was behind the policeman who spoke. His two fingers on the policeman's nape. "If I have a gun, you would've already been dead." He said. "Don't worry. I don't kill anyone." He told the other policemen who reached for the gun in their waist. 
The man following Hao Baiyun immediately spoke. "He's young master Hao – Hao Baiyun. He is the director of the Supernatural Department that deals with supernatural things that is related with certain cases." He explained. 
"'Hao'?" someone spoke. Then, his eyes widened in shock. "Isn't he – 
Yi Bing successfully exited the unit. "I know." He told the panicking Hou Ling. "His blood is already thin, yet he is undoubtedly a descendant of a cultivator." He said. 
"Yes, yes!" Hou Ling said as he floated behind Yi Bing, his eyes vigilantly looking at Hao Baiyun who freed the policeman that mocked him earlier. "They are a prominent family in Shanghai. I deliver to them sometimes." He said. 
"What do you deliver?" Yi Bing asked. 
"… flowers." Hou Ling answered. "I have worked in a flower shop." He told Yi Bing. Then, his eyes fell on Hao Baiyun once again. "There was a time when I delivered an order and it was a kind old lady who opened the door for me. She invited me inside for a drink. Then, I met Hao Baiyun who happened to pass by." He said. "He saw me, and talked to me while speaking strange things." His gaze lowered. 
"Like what?" Yi Bing asked. 
"Like – " Hou Ling said and watched Hao Baiyun walk around inside the unit. " – how I'll forever be a delivery guy, and that I'd never find a girlfriend in this lifetime – " he said. " – and I'll never have a pet… oh!" he bumped his fist on his palm when he remembered something. "He also told me I'll die at the age of 23 because I was stabbed." He added. 
Yi Bing's face couldn't any be blanker. "So… is he a master or pretending to be one?" he asked. 
"Well… he is a master since he guessed everything that happened in my life." Hou Ling said. 
Yi Bing watched Hao Baiyun walk around, speaking something to the man following him. "Cultivators aren't popular nowadays. And since a cultivator's blood in him is very thin, he can only do the job of an exorcist." He said. 
Hou Ling nodded. "Yes. He can also be a fortune teller." He said as he looked at Hao Baiyun's fingers moving as if he was counting. "Won't he see us?" he asked Yi Bing. 
"… he can." Yi Bing answered. 
Hou Ling's face was covered in dark lines. "Shouldn't we be running now?" he asked. 
"… I'm the only one he will 'see'." Yi Bing said. "It'll only be my shadow he'll see."
"But you don't have a shadow." Hou Ling said and looked at Yi Bing's feet. 
"What I meant of shadow is the figure of my real form." Yi Bing said. 
Hou Ling looked at him. "Seriously?" he said. 
"He'll only see a blurry image of my form." Yi Bing said and looked at Hao Baiyun. "He wouldn't be suspicious if it's in dark places. He'll only feel – " 
"Strange…" Hao Baiyun suddenly said. 
" – but, if he'll see a shadow when it's bright – " Yi Bing said. 
Hao Baiyun suddenly turned outside. But, he saw nothing. "What's wrong, young master Hao?" the man following him asked. 
"… I seemed to feel something outside." Hao Baiyun answered. 
"Something – " the man following him said and turned outside. " - … strange?" he said. 
Hao Baiyun nodded before he moved his gaze from outside. Yi Bing's figure flashed beside Hou Ling. " – he'll definitely see a shadow outside." He said as he leaned on the wall and opened the Death Note. 
Hou Ling followed him and saw Yi Bing flipping the blank pages of Death Note. "You're looking for something?" he asked. 
"I'm checking the woman's name, as well as the other three's, names on the Death Note." Yi Bing said. 
"Isn't the woman an Abnormal Soul like me?" Hou Ling asked. "My name isn't there, so her name also shouldn't be – " 
" – here." Yi Bing said and pointed somewhere on the blank page. 
Hou Ling sharply turned and squinted at the Death Note. Yi Bing saw his action and he muttered 'idiot' before he pulled Hou Ling's hand and placed it on the Death Note. "Wha – you're right! Her name is really here!" Hou Ling exclaimed and uttered a curse when he saw Fu Ling's name on the Death Note. "What does this mean?! Why is her soul on the Death Note and mine isn't?!" he asked. 
Yi Bing was also confused. "I have to check her soul again to confirm." He said and looked at Fu Ling's door before he turned to Hou Ling. 
"What?" Hou Ling said. "Her corpse was already taken away!" he told him. 
Yi Bing looked away. "Let's check the other three's soul." He said and scrolled down the page like it was a touchscreen. "It isn't here." He muttered. 
Hou Ling looked at the alphabetical arrangement of the names and didn't see Wei Jing's name on the page. "How about the other two?" he asked. 
"Also not here." Yi Bing answered, a serious expression on his face. 
Hou Ling stared at him. "But, we didn't see their soul…" he muttered. "What does his mean?" he asked. 
"Their soul isn't present in the mortal world, so they should be reincarnated. But – " Yi Bing said. " – their soul isn't in the Death Note. This…" he said. 
"What is it?" Hou Ling asked. 
"Either their soul disappeared, or – " Yi Bing said. " – their soul was eaten." 
"'eaten'?!" Hou Ling was shocked. "What do you… it couldn't be what I am thinking… right?" he said and awkwardly smiled. 
Yi Bing stared at him. "Do you still not believe in supernatural things?" he asked. "What you're thinking is right – " he said. " – there are monsters present in this world that eat souls. They are called Soul Eaters."  
Black lines covered Hou Ling's face. "Are you copying an anime again – " he said. 
" – there's an 's' added at the end." Yi Bing told him, then his expression returned to serious. "What's happening right now is really – " 
"Strange…" Hao Baiyun's voice can be heard. "I think I heard voices – " he said. 
Yi Bin immediately pulled the 'feet' of Hou Ling's soul and ran away – Hou Ling was flying like a kite following Yi Bing.

 At the time she thought everything was just a fantasy of her imagination, trying to fill the moment with something meaningful. Eun Ha had said she based all the things on the visions she had that day. But after the recent revelations, Ye Rim needed to know if it was true. If it were true, if what she hadn't told Eun Ha happened, maybe that would mean that the 'Prophecy of the Man in Pink' wasn't meaningless bullshit, then.
"Is following them your hobby, Ye Rim? Does it make any sense what we are doing now?" asked Jun Hyeon at his side, annoyed that they were stalking the couple once again.

Blinking and even feeling dizzy, she stopped, grabbing Jun Hyeon's arm tighter. Even without understanding, he hugged her protectively, and Ye Rim leaned against his chest for a while.
 When she looked up, for the first time that night Ye Rim noticed something that made her stiffen. Under the brown wool cashmere coat, Kim Jun Hyeon wore the same pink shirt he was wearing the day they first met.

The Hunter had entered the famous confectionery, and Eun Ha followed him, holding her magic wand tightly in her coat pocket. But she had no strange feeling about this place, however. Everything seemed normal at first. Clean and uniformed attendants and a beautiful cake counter.
 Shin motioned for her to approach when he went to the counter, and when she did, Eun Ha noticed the magical energy of the place constantly flowing. It was a place like her mother's bakery. A place where humans poured their best energy.
It made her smile involuntarily. Eun Ha looked at the cake display while the Hunter spoke to the attendant. Just looking at those confectionery wonders put her in a better mood. 
Then the attendant brought a cake from the kitchen, and showed it to them. The small but beautiful cake had her name, EUN HA, followed by HAPPY BIRTHDAY written with icing! 
The three attendants started singing Happy Birthday while Hunter Shin took a silver birthday hat from somewhere and put it on her head. 
Eun Ha noticed that he kind of murmured the song instead of singing it, but that was enough! Tears came to her eyes. That old fox's elaborate ruse really took her by surprise!
She would never expect such a… ROMANTIC act from that grumpy fairy!
It had been many years since she had a birthday cake of her own. Eun Ha had been resenting it until now. But now, she understood that she and Ye Rim needed their personal spaces. She wouldn't have that moment if it weren't for the break.
She blew the only birthday candle out loud, selfishly wishing for a wonderful night with Shin Hye Seong!
When the quick moment passed, Shin took the cake to a table by the window, and one of the smiling attendants poured café au latte for both of them.
Eun Ha alternated her gaze to the cake decorated with her name and the Hunter's slightly flushed face. His lips were redder than usual.
"This cake has no chocolate, right?" she made sure, and he nodded, cutting the cake. After serving her plate, Shin looked her in the eye.
Eun Ha felt an immediate shiver, and heat rising through her body.
"Jung… I need to apologize formally for being a terrible teacher. I am a lousy teacher."
'Wow! What is going on?' she wondered, blinking. 'I know this is a special day, and he has said it in some ways before, but today it's ... different.'

The Hunter lowered his head, embarrassed,

"If ..." Eun Ha raised an eyebrow in question, loving that the Hunter was clearly tense. 'Oh, he's so sexy!' 
Hunter Shin took a deep breath and looked out the window for a moment, and frowned, but then turned to her. Eun Ha looked in the direction he had looked, wondering if he had seen anything strange. But there was nothing different outside.

I'll just go over and ask them, they are the first friends I made since coming to the city and they were nice. We even exchanged those bracelets... That was so embarrassing!!! I hope they are taking care of them though, I spent a whole day picking them out...

It's alright! I'll just go over and ask them why they couldn't talk to me this last month. I look at my reflection in the mirror...Not looking like this though, I take a long shower, change into cute clothes. Hopefully, this dark blue blouse and pale blue jeans look good on me. A little makeup and...Done. 

Oh Gawd, it's already one o clock, I'll just leave right now.

"Mom, I'm going to head out!"

"Alright, just make sure to be back before dinner!"

I head out the doors and take the subway towards Luis' house. 

"*Growl*."

... I should've eaten something before coming. I forgot I haven't had anything to eat since we left the airport yesterday! What do I do, what if it makes a sound when I'm there?... But it wouldn't be bad to stay there for lunch too. The train stops, this is my stop, I walk out of the train...

I start running away.

"Do you need something from my-"  I suddenly crashed into someone... I fall down, the one I crashed into was...

What do I do now, her brother caught me outside the door. I start running again but I feel him grab my arm.

"....Isn't that why you were crying. I didn't see you come here before, I thought you came to ask in which cemetery she was."

He opened the fridge, served us both some fruit punch. He then seated down on the couch and put both refreshments on the table. We both sat there quietly without speaking a word. Finally, after a long moment of silence, Trevor decided to speak up.

"Tara was killed the first week of summer and Luis has gone missing ."

A little after this many advanced countries became able to succeed, however even if there was a breakthrough, the rate of people who were able to acquire powers after being exposed to the waste was still low. 

After numerous experiments in 1990, all the countries of the world decided to gather and sign a treaty to stop human experimentation. However, when the first generation of children was being born the radioactive molecules in the air gathered in different spots and created gates to different realms. These gates contained massive resources and along with it come monsters and new civilizations. These gates were successfully hidden from the public by governments around the world.

It's now the year 2014, Luis is living a regular life in New York. Not liked by anyone, he was adopted his aunt's family due to his parents' death. His only moments of peace were when he trained his body and when he watched and read anime and manga, and hangs out with his cousin. One day during one of his runs a strange bag fell on him, which will lead to a change in his life.

When it came down to it, I couldn't bring myself to kill the Governor.  I just couldn't make myself do it.  I've never killed anyone before, how could I?  Even if it is to atone for my sin of causing Seine's death, I just couldn't bring myself to do it.

"So what is it that I've done to offend you?"
I don't like that it feels like he's taken complete control over the situation, it almost makes me forget the position that the two of us are in.  The situation.  That I came here to kill him.  But whatever.  I don't know what I'm supposed to do anymore, so I'll go along with it for now.
"I heard about it.  Your plan to replace the Palestinians with convicts from Earth."
"I see," he nods nonchalantly, "so you were protecting your livelihood?"
The way he speaks so calmly annoys me, "not our livelihoods.  Our very lives are at stake."
He blinks, "I guess you could put it that way, but it isn't ever going to come to that."
"What do you mean?"
"It's true that a lot of people here will lose their jobs, but there's no shortage of work back on Luna – it'll work out."
"Huh?"
"What's wrong?"
"I don't understand – what do you mean, they'll be able to find jobs back on… the moon?"
"Yes," he blinks again, like it's a twitch, "anyone who finds themselves out of work due to the arrival of the convicts, will be able to return to Luna, and will be set up with a job that fits their skillset."
"You're not… going to kill them?"
"Of course not.  What would be the point of that?  That's ridiculous.  What do you take me for?"
I stepped back in shock, and lowered the knife.  What did I do this for?  Does that mean… did Mr Matthews lie to me?  Did he set all of this up?  But, what's his motivation for doing so?  I don't understand.
"Umm… who told you that?  That I was planning to kill all of the Palestinians?"
I open my mouth to answer, but I stop myself.  What if he's the one that's lying?  Perhaps Mr Matthews is telling the truth, and the Governor is the liar here.  It's certainly possible.  I don't feel a sense of trust towards either of them – I don't know either of them well enough.  Mr Matthews, I dislike, and the Governor I can't help but find ethereal with his moonchild's body.  It creeps me out.
"Well, it's fine if you don't want to tell me," the Governor continued, "but why you?  Why are you the one that came after me, not whoever lied to you about what I planned?"
I can't tell him about that either.  I hate talking about that story.  It hurts me so much to bring up what I did in the past, the consequences that it had, and all the suffering that it has brought me since.  I don't think I can tell him about that.  Because I'm still running away from it myself.  Running… because I'm a coward.  That's why I can't bring myself to tell him about the story.  The story of me, Mohammed, and Seine.
"I need you to tell me – I need to convince you first.  If your going to kill me for something I didn't even do, don't I deserve to have the chance to defend myself?  For that, I need to understand why you're the one who's come to kill me."
As he's speaking, something strikes me.  The reason that he's so unsettling to talk to.  It isn't just because of his calm demeanour in the face of death, but more his general lack of emotion.  It clashes too much with his outside appearance (the pink hair, crimson eyes, and anything but normal clothing.  The calm, emotionless tone of his voice, and the vacant look on his face, as he speaks to me, don't seem to fit how he looks on the outside to me.  It's strange, I think.  Almost like he's trying to compensate for the lack of emotion with a show of flamboyancy.  That's how it comes across to me.  Even when pleading for his life, he sounds somehow vacant and distant, or just bored and disinterested.  It creeps me out.  But at the very least, he's right.  I guess, if as he says I'm accusing him of something he doesn't plan to do, then he at least has the right to defend himself.  I don't quite understand how my story will help him defend himself, but I owe it to him.  So, I tell the Governor.  The story of me, Mohammed, and Seine.
After I finish, the Governor leans back, an uncharacteristic and rare smile on his face.  What could he possibly be thinking?  I didn't think it would, but maybe my story helped him after all.  I left out large gaps in the story, mostly to omit any involvement on Mr Matthews' part.  I don't trust the Governor, so I'm not going to tell him about Mr Matthews involvement in the story.  So, it really is just a story about myself, Mohammed, and Seine, that I told the moonchild.
"I see, I understand now.  I understand why you did what you did.  I understand why you're here.  I get why you've done everything so far.  But, there's one problem with your story.  Seine Montague isn't dead."

Seine Montague served as Governor of Ceres for a year.  She was scheduled to return to Luna following the end of this year, but following the destruction of the Persephone her return to the moon was delayed.  The Persephone's destruction was caused by an explosion that was an orchestrated plot by extremists among the colony's Palestinian population.  After the Proserpina's return to Luna in the year 2045, Seine Montague took up a position as the First Fleetmaster of the newly formed Freehold Space Force, which she has held to present.  During recent years, she finalised her work on the Montague Doctrine – a series of papers that form the basis of all Montaguist arguments.
The story that the Governor told me went something like that.  It seemed almost too perfect to be real, but it also ringed true.  It didn't sound like something that he had made up on the spot.
"How did she spend three years here without anyone realising?"
"I don't know," he replied, "but all of the Palestinians were forced out of the settlement following the Persephone's destruction, right?  Is it possible that only the Palestinians were misled, and Governor Montague was kept out of their sight, safe within the settlement?"
I wasn't sure.  In theory, it sounded like it would be possible.  But surely at some point in the three years that she was still alive here on Ceres (if he's telling the truth) someone would've seen her?  Just once in three years.  You would think there would be a slip-up like that.  It does make sense though.  That the reason the Palestinians were asked to leave the settlement following that incident, wasn't just in retaliation, but rather to keep Seine safe.  To keep Seine safe… from me.  That was something I didn't want to believe.
"I know it won't convince you to trust me, but we can go out to the Persephone's wreck.  If anything, that will prove to you that Seine isn't dead.  There's nothing there."
That won't really prove that she's not dead.  Her body could've been blown away out into space.  It is a fact though, that if she did die there, her body is probably still onboard, unless she was right by the engine when it exploded.  After all, no body was ever brought back to the settlement.
"If that isn't enough to convince you, I'll consider adding you to the council.  That would give you the authority to read the plan to revitalise the settlement for yourself.  You're Sayyad bin Osman, right?  I was thinking about making you a member of the council in the first place, but I was talked out of it."
"You were thinking about adding me to the council?"
"Yes," he replied, "even before you told me your story, I knew that you were trusted as an advisor and member of Governor Montague's council.  Even now, your also well respected among the Palestinian community.  You're not the only one either.  I also added the ICMU chief to the council.  I wanted to give the Palestinians more representation.  It only makes sense after all.  We are sharing this colony together, so we should work together.  It will make us stronger, much stronger, than we were before.  I think gaining the trust and support of the Palestinians is in the best interests of everyone.  That's how we will save this colony, Sayyad.  Working together, towards a better future."
The way he says those lines makes me a little sick, but I find it hard not to believe that he truly means them.  That if we work together, this colony can be saved.  That it can be stronger than it was before.  I still don't trust him, or particularly like him, but I think, at the very least, I'll give the Governor a chance.
