Today is November 2nd, 2019, and I have decided to begin writing my own novel. In particular, this is an auto biography meant for me to remember my own life in the years to come.

I woke up today at around 8AM, however I was too lazy to actually get up. I looked to my right and grabbed my phone off of my nightstand. There I began watching watching some youtube videos and periodically checking my discord server.

I forgot to mention in my prologue but I have a profound interest in technology. I spend my freetime researching computer hardware and mobile devices, and run a tech discord server online. I won't go into details as I would prefer to stay anonymous, but I help people build computers and enjoy watching videos on new product releases, tutorials, unboxings, etc...

So I continued to watch youtube and check discord for around an hour. 

I actually got up at around 9AM. I hopped in the shower, brushed my teeth, and got ready for the overall tasks of the day. 

First and foremost, I had a singular physics homework problem to finish up. I had done all my physics homework the night before except for that problem, as I had gone to church on Friday night for All Saints Day and did not have time to finish it. I didn't want to worry about it when I had came home since it would be rather late, so I saved it for Saturday.

I looked at the physics problem, and at first I was rather confused. It asked me to find the period and velocity of a satellite circling the moon when given the mass of the moon, the moon's radius, and the distance the satellite was from the moon.

It was then that it clicked in my head that first I would need to find the acceleration of gravity on the moon. In order to do this, I plugged the values I had into the formula g = (GM)/r^2. In this case, G is a constant always being 6.67 * 10^-11 (N*m^2)/kg^2. The M was just the total mass of the moon given, and the r was just distance of the satellite from the moon.

After finding the acceleration of the gravity, or g, to find the velocity all I had to do was plug that value into the formula g = (v^2)/r. This is possible because the question has specified it was a circular orbit.

I then had to do the same thing to find the period, however replacing v with (2πr)/T, where T is the period and solving as a normal equation.

After finishing this problem, I was somewhat confident but rather confused as I hadn't used the radius of the moon at all. I contacted my older brother and asked him to check my work. He was dissapointed because the total radius was not just the distance of the satelite from the moon, but the distance + the moon's radius. This clicked and it made sense. I re did the calculations and now I'm rather sure I have the correct answer and understand the concept.

After finishing this problem, it was probably around 9:30 and I realized I had awakened abnormally early for just this problem. I was expecting it to take longer but it didn't, and I was fully dressed as if I was going out. 

However, I had no plans for the day. I honestly didn't know what to do and settled for eating some of this refridgerated banana cake my mother had brought home from work the previous day.

After finishing the cake, I was relatively bored and decided to check for the day's anime episode releases. At the moment I am currently watching around 6 or so ongoing series, and it just so happens a lot of them come out on Saturday.

I first checked Detective Conan, but no new episode had been released. I then noticed a new Sword Art Online III second season episode had been released and watched it. It was okay, but SAO is surely not my favorite series, just something to pass the time.

I then watched a few episodes of goblin slayer, a small, finished series that I had recently started watching. Overall, I spent a few hours just watching these shows and before I knew it the clock read 12:30.

I then got up and walked to the kitchen. I began looking for something to eat for lunch. I found one of those cheap one-meal containers of Kraft macaroni and cheese. I honestly am not a fan of these, but it was the best thing I found and I wasn't planning on being greedy with lunch today.

I heated it up in the microwave and ate it. It actually wasn't that bad despite the fake powdered cheese it uses.

I then set my phone down to charge. It was around one or two o'clock at this point. Recently I updated my phone to android Pie, or android version 9.0. Ever since, I've noticed severely decreased battery life. I have an LG V30 at the moment and before the software update I was getting 7-9 hours screen on time. However, since the update, I was constantly only getting around 5 or so hours of screen on time. It's unfortunate but oh well I guess.

While my phone was charging, I practiced playing some piano. I have played piano for quite a while, however all I have is a very cheap keyboard that I got like 13 years ago. Particularly, the model is the Casio LK 100. However, in the end it does work and I do enjoy practicing songs such as the Detective Conan main theme, tetris, and Kamado Tanjiru No Uta (from Kimetsu No Yaiba).

A couple hours went by and my phone was eventually fully charged. It was probably around 4PM at this point and I was insanely bored. I had told my friends I probably couldn't hangout today, but was beginning to regret that decision. I then realized that the thing that could make the day fun was a trip to tacobell.

The only obstacle was that the nearest tacobell is 20 miles away and I don't even have my learner's permit yet. I asked my mother if she had any errands to run or anything, and reminded her the mall was right next to the tacobell.

She agreed to go to the mall and to drop me off to have some tacobell, however I had to wait a good three and a half hours. I literally sat on the couch just listening to anime openings for that entire time, wondering when she would come downstairs and she would live. We finally left at 7:30.

I called the tacobell to see when they closed the lobby, as some close their lobbies pretty early and stay drive thru only. Luckily, the one near the mall did not close the lobby until 10PM.

I got a ride to tacobell and then realized I had nearly no money, no more than a few bucks. I decided I would claim my T Mobile Tuesday free crunchy taco supreme, and then just purchase a large drink. That way I could get a meal for just $2 plus tax.

I walked into the tacobell and fidgeted on my phone to attempt to get the T Mobile Tuesday deal working for a solid five or so minutes. It wasn't working properly and I was frusrated knowing my budget, so I thought 

"Agh screw this, I'm just going to buy my drink real quick and I'll figure this out at my table."

I went and asked for a drink at the front counter, and as I was getting my debit card out the employee said,

"It's alright, this one is on the house."

I realized that she had probably seen my frustration trying to use my phone to order and just gave me this free drink out of pity. I gladly accepted though.

Soon afterwords, I was able to get the deal to work and also received my free taco. So, basically, I got an entire meal for free and I was very happy.

I then sat down and ate, and I sat in the tacobell for around thirty minutes. During my stay I took a picture of my food and sent it to my friends, and I explained how I got everything for free.

I also noticed a group of people walk in all wearing clothing representing a particular University. Seeing as it was one University I was interested in, I approached them. I confirmed that they had all attended that University and asked for their SAT/ACT statistics out of curiosity.

One claimed that he had gotten a 1400 on his SAT, and the other that he had gotten a 33 on his ACT. I saw this as both good and bad. I've taken the SAT once and I received a score of 1380. I got lower than expected in math at a 700, but I also did insanely well compared to what I expected in english, at a 680. I truly hope I can get into the college they had attended with my score.

Soon, my mother showed up at the taco bell. She was done looking at things at the mall, and she picked me up and we headed home.

Soon after getting home, I got in and began talking to my older brother and a few friends on discord. We were talking about general things, and I told them about my college conversation with the alumni I had met.

One of my friend's then suddenly asked me whether or not my sister had gone to college. I told him that my sister went to community college but had then dropped out. With a highschool GPA of 2.6 and an ACT score of 14, you couldn't really expect much more.

We continued to talk about various things and my older brother told me he was going to write a book on web novel. It was then that I decided I wanted to write this auto biography.

I got started with the prologue, and now that I am finishing this first chapter it is slightly past midnight. I'll be heading to bed soon and I have set the timer to post this chapter at 5AM.

This is my life. I am writing this story to always remember where I came from in the years to come.

It was the day of their concert, the organizer of the event had picked them up from the hotel to go to the venue. 

The venue of this concert was held in the nearby Hyde Park. 

Everyone could see a lot of people were walking around this place since this event was quite rare for the people who were living in London. 

"There are a lot of people here," Azusa said while looking backstage. She was a bit nervous since her first concert would be held in London, but she was also excited when she thought about it. 

"Yuuki. Can I go to buy a takoyaki?" Yui asked. 

There were a lot of food stalls around this event to show the food culture of Japan. There was a lot of food such as takoyaki, yakisoba, etc. 

Yuuki looked at the time and said, "It should be possible, but don't go out too long." 

"Yes!" Yui nodded with a smile. 

"Oh, you also need someone to accompany you," Yuuki said and stood up.

"You're going to accompany me, Yuuki?" Yui asked curiously. 

"I am worried about you," Yuuki said. 

Yui smiled and looked at Azusa. "Azu-nyan, do you want to follow us?" 

"Eh?" Azusa was startled but nodded. "I'll come too."

"I'll buy something for you guys too. Do you want something?" Yuuki asked. 

"Candy apple!" They answered at the same time. 

"Good." Yuuki nodded and decided to go out soon since he didn't want to be late for the concert.

"Conan. Come on!" Ran held Conan's hand and her face was a bit exasperated seeing Conan's expression who was lazy. 

"Sigh...." Conan sighed when he saw Ran was very excited to go to the event to watch Yuuki's event. Even though he knew that Yuuki wouldn't do anything to Ran, he was worried when Ran who was the one who made the move. 

"Ran. Why are we here?" Kogorou asked with a confused expression. 

"Dad! Didn't you remember that I have told you that Yuuki and everyone would be doing a concert here?" Ran said with an annoyed face. 

"Oh, right!" Kogorou only remembered it. He looked at Agasa who was holding a camera. "What are you doing with that camera?" 

"Haibara has asked me to record their video," Agasa answered easily. 

"Hmm... I have to admit that his songs are good, but you know they're too young for me." Kogorou hoped for his idol to be the one who would be singing on stage rather than Yuuki. 

"Uncle. Yuuki's songs are good. You should hear some of it," Conan said. He knew that there was a song about love and wondered whether that song would be able to make Kogorou and his wife go back to each other. 

"Well....." Kogorou thought that he was quite free and he didn't have anything to do. He wanted to flirt with the woman in this town, but he couldn't talk in English. 

"Conan!" 

They turned and saw both Minerva and her little brother walking together toward them. 

"Minerva! Apollo!" Ran was happy to see both of them here. 

"Shhh!!!!" Minerva hurriedly closed Ran's mouth and looked around. She saw that no one seemed to notice her and made her sigh in relief. "Don't say my name out loud and call me Glass." She was very famous, especially when she had only done her match yesterday. 

Ran was a bit embarrassed and nodded. 

"I have heard that the one who has helped me is going to perform here?" Minerva asked. 

"Yes. His name is Yuuki. He should be preparing backstage," Ran said. 

"Hmm...." Minerva nodded and felt a bit curious since Yuuki had gone back directly without meeting her yesterday. 

Apollo didn't have that much interest in their conversation and ate takoyaki happily. "Hot! Hot! Hot!" Even though it was hot, it was crisp on the outside and very soft on the inside. He looked at Conan and asked, "Do you want some?" 

"...." Conan shook his head and said, "You can eat it by yourself." 

Kogorou yawned and wondered whether there was a stall selling beer. He looked around and found it. "I'll buy a beer." He didn't hesitate and walked toward the food stall that was selling beer. 

Ran was a bit embarrassed, but she didn't stop her father. 

"Is this Yuuki your boyfriend? The one that we have talked about before?" Minerva asked with a teasing expression. 

'What?!' Conan, who heard Minerva's question, was mad. His heart was panicked while looking at Ran. 

"No. He isn't." Rna smiled while shaking her head. 

'Really?" Minerva teased her once again. 

Conan was quite depressed and looked around. He saw Yuuki was there along with two girls. He didn't want him to meet Ran and walked toward him.

Yuuki had bought a lot of things together with Yui and Azusa. 

"Is it alright to buy a lot of things?" Azusa asked. 

"It's alright. I can eat all of them," Yui said with a smile. 

"...." Yuuki was a bit speechless and wondered whether Yui didn't care about her weight.

"Yuuki?" 

Yuuki frowned and turned his head. He didn't see anyone and looked down to see Conan standing up in front of him. He felt a bit strange and looked around to see whether something was happening or not. He sighed in relief when he didn't see anything strange. "What's wrong, Conan? Did you lose your way? I'll help you to go to the organizer to search for your family." 

"...." Conan twitched his lips when he heard Yuuki's words. "You're not going to prepare for your concert?" 

"Hmm? I'll go back after this. Why do you ask?" Yuuki asked. 

"Nothing."

"Is that Ran? I'll greet her," Yuuki said, but he was stopped by Conan. "What's wrong?" 

"Nothing. You need to prepare. I'll tell Ran-nee-chan! I am here that you have greeted her," Conan said with a serious expression. He wouldn't move until Yuuki agreed with his request. 

Yuuki smiled and patted Conan's head. "If you love her then hurry up and say it. She is beautiful and I am sure that there are a lot of people who fall in love with her." 

"Yuuki! Let's go back! Everyone has been calling us!" Yui said. 

"I'll go back now. Give Ran and Minerva my greeting," Yuuki said and left Conan together with both Yui and Azusa. 

Conan looked at Yuuki's back and sighed. He would confess, but his body.....

"Sigh...." 

"Conan! Where are you!" 

Conan heard Ran's voice who seemed to be worried. He turned and said, "Ran-nee-chan! I am here!" He would definitely confess to Ran as soon as he had regained his body back.

--Sebastian POV--

 In all of my years working for the Wayne family, it has been very rewarding to me watching the young master grow up and stay by his side. Ever since he was able to walk few months after being born, I noticed his ever growing curiosity toward the world since he likes roaming around the mansion whenever he gets the chance to slip away from the Madam, Milord and my watch. But he slowly stops his exploration towards the mansion when he found out about the huge library within the east side of the property and became the first place he cooped up himself second the gym which is in the opposite side of the mansion from the library but we'll get to that later. It can even be said that he is the youngest genius in history for being able to read and write by the age of 3 years old but he keeps avoiding the lord's request of him taking an IQ (Intelligence Quotient) test which we are guessing if he ever took one will easily surpass above 300 IQ (Einstein = 160-190 IQ) that is almost twice as much as the brightest man known to have created the «E=mC^2 ».

 When he reached 6 years old he was also very adamant on continuing his studies at Midtown High School to be with his childhood friends such as Peter Parker and Harold Osborn that he got acquainted with in kindergarten. It also perplexed us the first time that he is not considering skipping grades with his intelligence and instead study in the best academic facilities available to him due to his status, where he provided very valid point reasoning that he needs to be with his peers to gain friends he can go along with and have a normal social life, instead of being treated as child genius that make his peers distance themselves from him and become arrogant from it which won over the approval of everyone in the family and made his parents more proud of him. Considering his recent activities and the maturity he displays in some occasions we seldom forget treating him as a child that he is. 

 He is also showing great progress in his training and workout sessions with his father that gave him endless joy and pride in his genes that he gave birth to a prodigal son. Not until recently that we received news he got hit by a car while playing with his friends that made the madam pass out of worry and became infuriated because of the action the young master did without thinking even though it was a noble act, that got him grounded for a few months and milord within just a few weeks managed to track down the man responsible for the accident in his rage for trying to run without being held accountable for his actions now put behind bars with a lot of lawsuits. Though while the young master is grounded after the incident he still showed great progress not just in education but also his physical fitness being able to carry 6kg of weight for his age and not suffer any muscle strains and regarding education he manage to finish all his study materials until high school and all books available in the library.

 A year after the incident the madam made me quietly follow the young master in his daily routines like a shadow with all of my skill sets (A/N: Taken movie scene *wink* ;)) and to my shock, I caught him taking out other adults twice his size which can be only described as him trying out his combat abilities to the fullest during his walk going to and from to school. I reported my findings to the madam and she seems not too shocked about it (I guess it's within their blood?) but warned me only to intervene whenever the young master take on an opponent he can't handle. Just recently there was an event that made me question the young master's actions when he helped up an unconscious man wearing suspicious clothes in a back alley within the borders of Hell's Kitchen and Midtown Manhattan where he stayed with him for a couple of hours before running away with great haste, I planned on interrogating the suspicious person on how is he related to the young master but didn't managed to for I still need to follow the madam's order of being a shadow to the young master who I'm about to lose track off because of his haste.

 To my great surprise the young master reached another milestone in his physical prowess after that questionable encounter that delighted the masters of the house. At the young age of 11 years old reaching the «height of 170cm», «weighing 56kg», with a leaned but not bulky build with cuts , matte black hair reaching around the neck, enchanting purple eye color coupled with golden rimmed irises and a light skin tone coming from the African-American gene from his mother and his facial features from the chin to hair with sword shaped eyebrows and lightly squint eye shape from his Asian-American father. Being able to lift around 80 kg and run at 6.7mph (miles per hour) which greatly shocked everyone and have a cause for a huge celebration during Christmas.

"Dear, it's about time we discuss with John regarding our families background I think he is already mature enough to handle it, based on the reports we received from Sebas (the Butler).."『Conan』
Said Conan to his wife worriedly, looking anxious regarding something that has been pressing his mind since his son started exhibiting top off the charts performances for his age. Ever since he saw an almost blank family tree just with their names and son in it, is the one that broke the camel's back. Being silent and thinking for a long time before replying to his husband…

"I know he is mature enough to handle it, but he is not strong enough to protect himself from the trouble it brings with of knowing it yet. So providing him with all the knowledge and training he can get within the coming few years to give him enough strength to handle any situation that might arise from it. While he's accumulating strength I'm going to pour all the knowledge I have in business and running the company" 『Janneth』

*Sigh* "I guess we can only go through it in a roundabout way then, I'll go introduce him to my colleague to further his knowledge regarding martial arts since he is just a breadth away from overpowering me during our last sparring, I still want to keep my fatherly image thank you very much. Replied Conan to his wife exasperatedly regarding their situation. Seeing that his wife already planned everything out, he can't help but sigh at the situation that ache his heart by keeping their family background from their son before going back to the hall and together with his wife to enjoy the Christmas celebration with the rest of the guest they had invited this year and sending a lovingly look toward his son the star of this celebration for his current achievements.

---M John Wayne POV---

 It's been weeks after the huge surprise Christmas party my parents and the gang threw for me with really warmed my heart in this cold weather and firmed my resolve even more to get stronger to protect what I have. While my parent's and I have plans to watch this upcoming new year's eve «2 Fast 2 Furious» sequel which apparently is a thing in this world too that delighted me for I can enjoy it like a reboot from the one I know of because their cinematic animations and graphic production here are much more advance than Earth-Prime. During my runs around the city I have started gaining in what I could say my notorious vigilante nick name through skirmishes in the back alley with low life thugs such as {Enigma} which I think is kinda awesome cause it reminded me of the hero from one of my favorite game to play in Earth-Prime, a famous online MOBA game called «DOTA 2». According to the rumor they considered me as such for when I take action, no one will even notice me or remember I had even interfered the robbery happening since I just melt in to the shadows after knocking out the thug. I considered it as my own moniker for it applies perfectly to my [Emphatic Mimicry(Black)] that absorbs other powers even though it's more like {Rubick}'s ultimate skill but that guy only copies one skill and more applicable for 『Rogue 』as a hero name and it is kinda girly name too.

 I have also managed to track that healer guy and acquire his [Heal (Blue)] which registered for me in my «Skill» section as [Heal (Black)], as he was located in Chinatown, New York. Didn't take too much doing this quest for I just stalked him in the shadows for a couple hours before acquiring it, and watching through this time made me take a note of including him in the team I'm sorting out for my coming agendas and prevent his gruesome death by dying just for being able to heal others. I managed to find a Chinese antique store that intrigued me after following Healer while he was sorting his business around Chinatown, being reminded of «The Forbidden Kingdom» movie back in Earth-Prime that made my blood boil for maybe I'll also gain the same fortune since I'm already in Marvel universe anything can happen, nothing ventured nothing gained, am I right? 

 Coming inside the store I saw a lot of items that rekindled my memories related to Chinese novels such as «Against the Gods», «I Shall Seal the Heavens», etc… Most items were like talismans, cauldrons, and other feng shui related items though I didn't get an enchanted item like Sun Wukong's staff from the movies I gained an encounter with a great Master in Martial Arts that made me froze on the spot nearly embarrassing myself in front of him after looking at the guy in the counter from head-to-toe who is managing the shop as he introduced himself.

"Welcome to the Dragon Antique Store, my name is Shang Chi the owner and clerk of this store. Just tell me what you are looking for and I'll help you to the best of my abilities" 『Shang Chi 』

Greeted Shang Chi to me while doing a palm-fist in front of his chest. It's SHANG CHI for fuck's sake!!! The Bruce Lee of Marvel Universe and one of the Peak humans that is able to go toe-to-toe with a {Metahuman} with just his pure skills. Seeing my frozen geek look made him look at me weirdly and is considering of throwing me out of the store if I don't speak soon causing me to stutter and instantly kowtowing in front of him doing the master-disciple ceremony so I can seal the deal and learn all his skills.

"P-p-please a-accept I, Markly John Wayne, as your disciple MASTER!" 『John 』

 Shocked by the sudden kowtow in front of him, Shang Chi had a small frown on his face while slowly helping up the customer right in front of him inquiring of his reasoning on the sudden action taken by the young man.

"Please, stand up. I think you have the wrong guy and I'm just a store clerk for this store I have nothing I know of that I can teach you." 『Shang Chi 』

"No, I'm not mistaken Master. I know I found the right person. Please take me as your disciple." 『John 』

Retorted John as he quickly kowtowed again in front of Shang Chi while his brain is running on full speed on how not to scare away this opportunity right in front of his face since can't possibly say that 'I know all of your skill and abilities even your achievements because you are just a character in comics back in my past life' right? He might kill me on the spot or send me to the mental hospital for a long time. Plagued by the insistence of the kid in front of him, Shang Chi slowly calmed his mind and gained Zen again thinking on how to properly handle the situation at hand.

"Then tell me, what is the reason that made you do such an action upon meeting me for the first time?" 『Shang Chi 』

"U-umm… because… I read from Chinese novels that one can only gain fortunate encounters when one is seeking it outside while experiencing the world and you perfectly fit the description of great Martial Artists that is hidden in the mundane world either passing by his time or accumulating mortal experience to break through a higher state of mind that I have read from such novels since I was young. Therefore doing such a thing will not make me lose anything so I had done what I did. Please take me as your disciple!" 『John 』

 Stated John whilst doing a puppy eyes with an innocent look of a child, well I'm not really lying since he kinda look like the old grampa that helps the MC's in early stages on their path to the strong and this way he'll think of it as just a misfit of a child. Shang Chi slowly absorbing and considering the words stated by the kid in front of him seeing no lies in his expression while talking, made his mouth twitch a little before forming a grin then laughing out loud while holding his stomach then slowly calming back down and replying back to the kid.

"Ha ha ha ha, you've made my day kid! Though I also believe in the workings of fate and that there is now fate between us, I'll consider taking you as my disciple after passing my test. It isn't so easy becoming the disciple of this great one you know.  Come back here next week as I'm currently busy with other things on the coming days." 『Shang Chi 』

"Thank you very much Master! I won't let you down!" 『John 』

"Alright get along now if you're not going to buy anything as I still have a store to run."

 After sending out his newly ordained disciple with a smile his face slowly went back to a dead pan face thinking,'Even though he is young, his walking mannerism and habits shows that he already had basic foundations on martial arts. Thinking too much is not worth it, since with this happening things finally won't get boring around here Hahaha.' On the way back home John's mind is busy screaming internally 'SUCCCCCCCCCESSSS!!!' HAHAHAHA I've managed to link myself with one of the greatest martial artist in the Marvel universe. Replied Sebas while bowing slightly towards John, putting Sebas' reminder to the back of his mind he went straight back to his room and update his journal and plans for the future. Though I had already reached (Green) level in both body state and mind I still haven't unlocked that sealed bloodline feature in my status yet, looks like it's more likely related to the level of my [Emphatic mimicry(Black)] which is very hard to upgrade. Conan pretended to be asleep on his cot, waiting for Coby and Helmeppo to come to his cell. After his talk with Ace, the pirate called him crazy and opted to get some much-needed rest. After Conan was sure Ace was asleep, he took out the tools he had managed to bring with him when he was abducted. Before they forced him out of his normal clothes, he extracted his gadgets and hid them in a tiny crevice-space between his bed post and the wall. Besides, it was dark in here, so the Navy couldn't do a proper search in here even if they wanted to. The idiots didn't bother to put lights in here. What he had wasn't much, but it was better than nothing. He had his handy watch, homing glasses, his bow-tie, his sneakers (which he still had on him), his skateboard, and soccer ball, courtesy of his travel belt. He was so glad Agasa had made the skateboard portable, he really was. Forming a plan in his head, he figured the best way to get himself and Ace out would be to destroy the sea stone cuffs. But even if he did that, what good would that do? They were severely outnumbered, and he still didn't know how powerful Ace was compared to the Admirals, but judging by the extreme hierarchy of the Navy, he assumed 4 against 1 was not a good bet here. Their best option was to knock out some Navy members and sneak on a boat. Ace could disguise a Marine, and he could disguise as someone's kid. There was one problem: he still had his friends and family to think about. The Black Organization wasn't a group of idiots; they were expecting him to escape, and looking for an excuse to go after the ones close to him. He had a scenario in mind to collect blackmail and use it against the Navy, but he only had one shot at escape, and he was dead if Ace left without him.

Snapping his head up from the sound, Conan frowned at the guard at the door, his partner should've been with him. "Where's Coby-san?" He asked,

"I've been given orders to move you to a ship, kid. Something big is going to happen today." Helmeppo replied indifferently. The boy noticed the stress in his voice, and decided to venture.

"Why? What's going on, Helmeppo-san?" Conan asked. Suddenly, a voice boomed into the prison quarters, that was no doubt, Sengoku's voice.

"Attention everyone, the execution of Portgas D. Ace, has been moved from three days, to three hours from now. Please have all personnel and weapons accounted for. Whitebeard and his crew will come at us full force, and it is our job as the Navy, to show the world that justice triumph over evil. All scouts and soldiers report to your superiors for further instruction." The announcement ended. Helmeppo sighed at Conan's shocked face. "Let's go kid."

"Why are they pushing the date so early? Helmeppo-san? Why?" The young detective was inwardly cursing; he had to enact his plan now. Feeling his wrist for his watch, Conan readied the stun gun. Conan looked to Ace, who seemed to be too shocked to say anything.

"Why are they executing, Ace-san anyways? I'm scared!" Conan cried. His acting skills scared himself sometimes.

The marine walked into the cell, and gave another sigh. "That's just how it is, you can't do anything about it. Come on, now. It's going to get crazy here, so-" Right as he was about to handcuff Conan, the detective activated his stun gun, and knocked the guard out. Catching Helmeppo, so he wouldn't make any noise falling, Conan set him down and grabbed a pair of keys he was carrying. Seeing how his own cell was unlocked, he ran over towards Ace's.

The pirate didn't even realize the boy was in his cell until he realized that a huge amount of weight was suddenly shifted off him. Ace looked down at himself and noticed he was no longer bound in chains, no longer bound to those damned sea-stone cuffs. Turning towards the child, he breathed. "How-"

"No time to explain!" Conan yelled and grabbed Ace's wrist, pulling him towards the door. Conan growled when Ace didn't move. "We have to move! It's not going to be long until they notice that one of their men hasn't returned to his post, and everyone's too distracted right now to notice such small details!"

"…Ah….you're right." Ace nodded and stood up.

Conan nodded and ran to the entrance of the prison quarters, and just as he thought, it was unlocked. Poking his head to see if there was anyone on patrol, he turned back to Ace. "All clear! Let's go!" Conan ran out the door and into the hallway.

"Oi!" Ace snapped out of his trance and realized the child ran off on his own. Following the younger boy out of his living quarters, he found his crouched down at an intersection of the hallway. They boy turned towards Ace, and motioned him to come beside him. Obeying, Ace crouched beside the detective and waited for Conan to make his next move. Noticing there some marines coming this way, he heated up his fist and prepared to blast him.

"Don't!" Conan whispered, raising his hand for emphasis. Aiming his watch carefully, he shot two pin-drop shots of electricity, effectively knocking the guards out.

Ace was stunned. "How'd you do that?"

"There's a stun gun in my watch, so I'm able to knock people out when I need to." He explained and got out of his corner. Looking at the guards he knocked out, he turned towards Ace. "How fast can you change clothes?"

"…Why?" The pirate didn't like where this was going.

Conan frowned. "You're not stupid person, Ace-san. You know why." His frown deepened at the glare he received. "We're outnumbered, outmatched, and the Navy's scrambling to get everything in order for your execution. In an organized hierarchy like this, it's best to strike when preparations are being made because that's when they're least expecting it, as well as them being arrogant enough to believe we won't be able to escape on our own. If I had allowed you to blast these two men with fire, more soldiers would've come at us, thus alerting the whole Navy we had escaped." Conan sighed. "This isn't the time to be picky; you need to sneak out quietly, not go out like an emergency flare. Now quit complaining and switch clothes with one of these guys!"

After a few moments of glaring, Ace finally complied and did as he was asked. In less than a minute, he was dressed like a normal marine, the problem was, and he wasn't as clean-looking as most of them were. Conan handed him a comb, which he found in one of the soldiers' pockets. "Now what?" Ace frowned at the comb.

"Marines are required to dress professionally as well as look professionally; you're not going to pass as one, if you don't completely look the part." Conan explained as if it was obvious.

"Just so you know, I'm going to kill you, after this is over." Ace glared and took the comb from him. After a few moments, Conan nodded at Ace's disguise, confirming it was good enough. "If Oyaji and the guys see me, they'll never let me this down."

"It's life or pride Ace-san, I recommend choosing wisely." Conan replied plainly, and looked to the ground, trying to think of something he could use to disguise himself, but then he remembered something. People around the naval base had seen him, but very few actually knew he was a prisoner. So statistically speaking, he had a good chance to get to the Fleet Admiral's office without much incident.

"Oi kid!" Ace shook him slightly, snapping Conan out of his thoughts. "Didn't you hear me?"

"What?" Conan blinked, embarrassed that he zoned out.

Ace sighed. "Where to next? We can't stay in this hallway forever."

"To the Fleet Admiral's office." The detective answered evenly.

Ace frowned. "Are you crazy? As you said, we need to get out of here, let's head for a ship!"

"If we sail out now, it'll look suspicious." Conan countered, earning a confused look from Ace. "These people are gearing up for war, which means they're calling back every solidier they have out on the other islands to assist them with this. All naval vessels are coming to dock, not to exit port. It'll look too suspicious, especially if one of the Admirals tries to call us back and we don't respond."

"Then how do we get out of here?" The pirate asked, his frustration being leaked.

"It's as Helmeppo-san said, they're expecting me. However, due to preparation they need to do for the war, no one's going to question Helmeppo's late arrival, nor will they question that another guard has me due to the chaos of their system at the moment. We'll use the ship they've set up for my transport and go from there." The detective explained and started foreword. Turning to Ace, he said, "Come on! I memorized the layout of this place, I know where the Fleet Admiral's office is!"

"This island's huge! How the hell do you expect me to believe you memorized this place in such a short time?" Ace exclaimed but followed the younger boy anyways. Thinking quickly, Ace picked up Conan, earning a surprised yelp, and placed Conan on one of his shoulders. Conan was about to protest, but Ace shut him up. "Your legs are too short, it'll be faster if I just carry you like this. Now which way?" Conan was as embarrassed as hell at the moment, but couldn't argue.

"It's the tall Shinto shrine tower approximately 50 kilos to the left of this building! It's the only building with that design in the area, you can't miss it!" Conan answered.

Adjusting the kid's weight on his shoulder, Ace placed a steadying hand against Conan's body to ensure he wouldn't fall off. "Lead the way, little guy."

10min Later

As much as Ace hated to admit it, Conan's plan was working. They were running through the halls, past marines who thought nothing of it. Ace thought it was strange though. If Conan was a prisoner as well, why was he not in disguise as well? "Left!" Snapping out of his thoughts, Ace turned left down the next hallway, and continued his run. "Right!" Making another turn, Ace was wondering if they were even close to Sengoku's office.

"Hey, kid? How far is the bastard's office from here?" Ace huffed.

"Two lefts and a right down this hallway!" Conan answered.

"Got it!" Ace quickened his pace until he was past all the marines, taking the directions as they came.

The detective frowned as they got closer, it was going to smoothly, but it was too smooth. Perhaps all the Admirals and the few Vice Admirals who knew about him were all out in the field, making preparations. But where was Sengoku? That Garp-person? Coby? Conan was used to winging plans but he usually had the luxury of knowing where everyone was. He was about to adjust his glasses for body-heat signals, but then Ace stopped abruptly. "Ace-san? What's wrong?"

"Got distracted, huh brat?" Grunted a familiar voice. Conan turned slowly to the familiar voice. There was Vice-Admiral Garp staring intently at them in the hallway. The younger boy didn't even have time to reply before being lifted off of Ace's shoulder and being placed behind the teen. "Well, Ace, the uniform looks good on yah; wish you'd put it on for the right reasons, though."

"This wasn't my idea." Ace replied in annoyance, gesturing towards the boy behind him. Conan was inwardly cursing, he should've counted for running into Garp or one of the others. Suddenly, he felt himself being picked up by the collar and being thrown forward. Garp stepped aside, and let Conan crash into the upcoming wall.

"What the hell was that for?" Conan exclaimed rubbing his head.

"You have something to do, don't you?" Ace shot Conan a glare.

"Get going, brat. You're wasting time." Garp shooed him away. Conan stood up and blinked; after a minute, he gave an abrupt bow to both of them and ran off. After seeing the brat run off, Garp turned his attention back to Ace. "I'm not helping a villain; I'm helping a scared little boy get back home. He's not a pirate; he's just a poor soul who got dragged into this mess."

"…Who is that kid, Gramps? Why's he really here?" Ace asked calmly.

Garp sighed. "That isn't you concern, Ace. Just go on and get out of here, you have your chance, now escape."

"You're helping me?" Ace scoffed. "What about me being a villain?"

"I don't see a villain here." Garp replied swiftly. "All I see is a confused marine who doesn't know where his post is. And if he goes down to the docks, there will be a few boats preparing to take off and he'll be assigned properly. He should also cover his face because it looks terrifying."

"Gramps…" The young pirate sighed. "Thanks for the concern, but I'm not leaving without the kid."

"Don't be a fool!" The old marine hissed. "You don't have much time! If the kid's smart enough and has the resources to break you out of a Marineford prison, do you really think he can't break himself out?"

"Maybe. But that doesn't mean I'm leaving him to the sharks like this." Ace clenched his fist and it started to turn red, Garp narrowed his eyes. "Move, Gramps. I need to get that brat and escape before Oyaji and the others show up; Luffy's probably on his way too."

"He obviously has something to do, just be a good soldier and trust your team mate!" Garp clenched his fit and charged at Ace. The pirate dodged and shot a fire ball into his back, though it wasn't as strong as his normal attacks. Garp sighed, when he felt the fire ball dissipate as soon as it touched him. "Listen Ace, to follow that kid, you're gonna have to get through me. And the only way you're gonna win is if you fight seriously." Suddenly, Garp's fist collided with Ace's face and sent the boy flying into the far wall.

Ace growled and wiped blood off his mouth. "Fine then." He heated his fist to flames were bursting. "FIRE FIST!" The pirate knew Garp was down when he didn't bother to dodge it, it was his grandpa's way of saying he approved. With a nod of the head towards his fallen elder, he ran off in the direction Conan had taken.

With Conan

As the confrontation went on, Conan ran the rest of the way towards Sengoku's office. Relief washed over Conan when he discovered it empty. Thinking quickly, Conan readied his bowtie and tried to think back to his research on the Cipher Pole. If he posed as a World government official, it'd be too messy and the figure's authority would be questionable over the Navy. The Admirals were out of the question because they were outside in the midst of the chaos. Deciding that a Cipher Pole would be the best option. Question was, when to broadcast his announcement and how to broadcast it? His head jerked up when he heard voices. Hiding under the desk, he hid himself as best as he could.

"This is a disaster! A complete and utter disaster!" Sengoku slammed the door open, stomping into his office, Akainu and Tsuru following close behind. "Tsuru! How could they have possibly escaped?"

"Perhaps inadequate search? Too much freedom, maybe? I warned you that the boy was extremely inquisitive, and that we hadn't dealt with someone like him before. This was a stupid idea to begin with, and you bringing Fire-Fist Ace here, was too big of a risk." The old woman scolded. "Honestly…are you honestly still going to go through with the broadcast, Sengoku?" Conan's eyes widened at the words.

"We have to!" Akainu exclaimed suddenly. "We have to show the world, justice will ultimately prevail!"

"The only thing we're showing is that the Navy can't keep one pirate in line." She said simply.

"Silence hag!" Akainu barked, causing Tsuru to make a sharp turn to him, effectively turning him into a wet blanket.

"Tsuru!" Sengoku barked. "We don't have time for this!"

"He had it coming." She sighed. "Sit down, Sengoku. Let's discuss for further planning."

Sengoku sighed and obeyed the order. "You're right. Let's calm down and-" Tsuru didn't blink when the Admiral suddenly lost conscious.

Getting out from his hiding place, Conan stood directly in front of the woman. "You knew I was there?"

"This was the most obvious place you'd go." Tsuru replied simply. "You freed Fire-Fist Ace, thus making him your ally because you knew escape would be impossible alone, especially against people with devil fruits. However, you couldn't just leave Mareinford because your family and friends are being used against you. So by setting something up here, you planned to bluff your way out of here using blackmail that the World Government would refuse to negotiate flexibility. You knew that the Black Organization had been using us, but as you suspect, they don't actually have anything over us. They want you alive; you don't need to make some huge speech. Despite what was said, the Black Organization isn't going to make any immediate moves, they need you alive, they need you focused as we do. Don't do anything rash."

"…Are you my ally then?" Conan wasn't sure what to make of this.

"No. As I said to you before, I want what's best for the Navy. Working with terrorists and becoming hypocrites isn't what's best for us. " The old woman explained. "I'm giving you two options: you can escape with Fire-Fist and not make the public announcement using the Fleet Admiral or whatever personnel you planned to impersonate; or make the announcement and have no chance in hell of escaping. The second you say one word against the Navy, I'll bring the entire system down upon your head. Don't underestimate us, boy."

"So essentially, you're willing to offer me complete coverage if I cooperate." Conan confirmed.

Tsuru nodded and looked Conan directly in the eye. "Yes. I'm even willing to provide coverage about yours and Fire-Fist's escape. What do you say boy, do or die?"

It was the weekend and I had nothing to do. Swim meet was Monday, so I couldn't go out partying like usual. It was almost sunset and I've done nothing all day in my dorm except watch YouTube videos and surf reddit.
I was looking through text messages to see who I could hit up. Most of the guys on the swim team were secretly partying. None of the girls I've hooked up with interest me. I was scrolling more and saw Sulbi. I decided to hit her up.
Conan:
Hey, what's up? Wanna go on a walk near the lake and grab late night pizza/icecream?

Shortly after, I get a text.

Sulbi:
Yeah sure! I'll meet you by the frat houses?

Conan: Yeah cool! See you in 5.

Nice, I'll finally get to meet the girl. It's been a month since the last time we texted. She never reached out to me and my grandma has still been bothering me about meeting her. If anything, I'll just meet a new friend I guess.
I put on my Bates Swim team hoodie, blue baseball cap, and joggers. The frat houses are like a minute by foot, so I take my time and walk out the door. I'm walking toward the parking lot and I see a short girl with short black hair, noticable brown eyes (most Asian girls have dark, near black eyes), and a checkered/gingham dress.
"Hey. I'm Conan, are you Sulbi or Sherry?"
"Hi Conan... Yeah.. You can call me whichever. I don't have a preference," she says shyly.
"Okay, I guess I'll call you Sulbi. I like Korean names. I never got one," I say back. We walk off campus toward the Lake Gotsbi nearby. We talk about school, our family, our Korean culture, and hobbies. She likes to read and write. She's also pretty sweet. She looks at me intently when I talk. You can tell she's really listening even though I don't have much to say or at least not anything important. Then we talk about relationships..
"So... Conan. Have you dated anyone?" Sulbi asks.
"Nah. I get that question a lot from my family and friends. I don't understand why they can't leave me alone about it sometimes... Like can't I enjoy being single?" I say.
"Yeah, I get you. My family, especially my grandparents, ask the same thing. They think just because I'm a petite Asian girl with white skin, I should be attracting a lot of guys. But hey, we're not in Korea anymore and guys here don't like girls like that," she says.
I look at her and think she's pretty though. Her pale skin in contrast with her pink cheeks. Small eyes but glowing due to their golden brown undertone. She dresses well too. Cute.
"Yeah, I mean we have a lot of time. We're only 19," I say.
We watch as the red in the sky disappears into the blue, grey landscape. A duck flutters it's wings and flies off the lake. It's nice. Walking and talking and not talking. I feel comfortable in the silence.
"You hungry at all? We can grab pizza or icecream if you want," I ask.
"I'm not really hungry for pizza or icecream to be honest... do you want to come to my dorm and eat 'Go-re-bap?'" Sulbi asks.
"Oh hell yeah. I love Gorebap. They were my favorite snack in my childhood. I haven't had them in forever because I've become so white haha." I smile at her.

We head to her dorm and we arrive at the all girls dorm, Trez. She unlocks her door with her key and opens it. Her room is filled with artwork. Probably hers. Lots of pastel paintings, flowers, and abstract art.
"Cool artwork. Did you make all of these?" I ask.
"Yeah I did... I'm kind of a hoarder, so most of the paintings are from middle school and high school," she says while leading me to her desk and bed. "You can sit on the bed if you want. It's more comfortable than the chair."
I hop on the bed and adore her artwork. I like the one that's hanging above her head. It has a pastel purple outline on it with white, black, and dark purple flowers. It speaks to me for some reason. The flower are just lonely. The color combo is also interesting.
"What was your motivation behind choosing the colors for this painting?" I ask.
"Oh uhm... They're the colors for the asexual flag in the LGBTQ+ community," she says looking up at me.

Before all of them left and dropping of the kids first to there room, one of them excuse herself.

Surprise that she's concern with him but he answered it right away "your welcome and yes I can go back on my own"


"That's good and by the way I'm Ellyn, how about you?" then offering her hand.


"Jinyu" and accepting her hand.

"Jinyu? I see and nice to meet you" then she run off where everyone is.


Jinyu standing in a daze and blush then enough to heard them and understand since they're talking in Ceno.

Lynel : Who's that Sis you're boyfriend?

Ellyn : Where did you learn that word?


Lynel : I'm smart you know so is that you're boyfriend?


Ken : Not a boyfriend Lynel and he help us about searching you guys 


Ren : I see, so a friend?


Ellyn : His also one of the entourage


Lynel : Okay, then what did you talk about Sis?


Ellyn : Nothing


Lynel : Really then why did I smell something fishy?


Ren : Same here


Ken : Ren and Lynel enough with that and you must thankful of him that he help us.


Both : ..... 'what a killjoy?'


D1 : I don't know if you're a kids or not


All : We are, why?


D2 : Ha, ha, ha it's because you're talking like you're an adult.


All : Ha, ha maybe it's because we like Conan.


Jinyu : 'Conan again but wait why the four of them like Conan? I need to search first who is Conan before my mind running wild' (then left and go where he left his brother). Xi, let's go now.


Jinxi : Ohh, you found them? (got up from his seat and approach his brother)


Jinyu : Not me and they just appeared out of nowhere.


Jinxi : I see but why you're face is red Bro Yu?


Jinyu : Nothing


Jinxi : (speechless)


Jinyu : By the way Xi


Jinxi : Mmmm?


Jinyu : Is there's another kid have a name Conan aside from the anime?


Jinxi : Seriously Bro, you don't know how famous Conan is?


Jinyu : (shaking his head)


Jinxi : That's the result of being too serious and I've been watching that anime everyday so how come you didn't know and for sure it's famous name for the kids since it's popular anime?


Jinyu : I see, so it's possible to have a name like that?


Jinxi : (nodded)


Jinyu : I see then let's watch it together again


Jinxi : Eh, really?


Jinyu : Uh-uh


Jinxi : Alright we will watch from the start. Woah, my brother becomes a kid now. Wait, I just realized it now that Bro Yu you look like Conan, a seven year old boy who's too serious at his age but well his an high schooler inside and you is the real kid.


Jinxi is being excited that his brother got interested to watch his favorite anime but unknown to him, his brother is just interested because of Ellyn since they mention Conan several times but he was not sure if it's the anime or another kid who's going to be his rival.


Meanwhile the other kids, already got drop off by the designers and apologized that they lost sight of the kids awhile ago and instead of getting scold the family they just thanking them and nothing else since nothing happened to them. Both Ren and Lynel are telling why they got lost and then Lynel telling that Ellyn found a friend but don't know who it is since Ellyn didn't tell who is he. 


At lunch, the family together with Tae eat and chatting again then waiting for the gathering of guests. At exactly 1pm, they get out from the room and drop the kids first for the rehearsal and Aya, as a worrywart grandma remind the kids.


"Listen kids, don't wander around and just stay here"


"Yes GrandMa / Mama Grand"


"Good and don't do that again"


"Uh-uh, we promise"


"Promise is a promise" then they left the kids for the rehearsal.

Kaiz finished putting the final touches on the rune. He loathed working with Summit's Superior Ink. Despite the name, it was the lowest quality ink you could find for runecrafting. It's mana consistency, the most important aspect of any ink used for runes, was shoddy on its best day. The lack of quality came with an equally low price point, though. 
While Kaiz saw runes as the future for manaless tanlars, he hadn't puzzled out how to reach that future just yet. Unlike enchantments that stored sufficient amounts of mana internally, runes required an external source to function. The mana in its ink only served as a catalyst to activate the written spell. It wasn't enough to power them. A titled could simply use their own mana as the power source, but tanlars had to use winter batteries. Made with a blue metal known as snoulite, winter batteries could store massive amounts of mana. Unfortunately, the size to price scale was far from linear. 
Getting a small battery to power a simple rune wasn't backbreaking, but the kind of runes that were necessary to fight equally with a titled were anything but simple. They were terribly complex and mana inefficient, demanding winter batteries that cost three arms and five legs. That wouldn't do.
He had a plan to circumvent the issue entirely. Though 'plan' was a generous way to say 'a vague, misty suspicious that an idea could potentially be possible.' 
"Configuration 342C, battery 2A." He jotted down in his notebook.
He took out a small battery and placed it in a tong suspended above the rune. It was the absolute cheapest battery you could buy, costing a mere two silvers. The mana in its storage matched its size and price, minute. It would do the job just fine though. 
Lowering the battery until it was just above the rune, he grabbed a magnifying glass and waited. The mana was securely sealed inside the metal casing of the battery, so he couldn't see it. He shouldn't see it. If the rune worked as he intended though, he would. There would be visible leakage as mana seeped through the metal and into the rune, lighting it up. 
Minutes passed as Kaiz patiently observed. He'd completely cleared his desk to make sure nothing could even momentarily distract him. He dedicated his full attention to the project. If it worked, in any way, it would be revolutionary. Even if only the most minuscule, microscopic spot of mana passed through, it'd be enough. Proof of concept was all he needed right now. So he waited and observed. And waited. And observed. Time went by, but he remained still. Unmoving. In more ways than one. 
Nothing happened. 
More than half an hour had elapsed before he admitted to himself that nothing would happen. A deep sigh fell out of his being. He wasn't foolish enough to expect success, but continued failure still hurt. 
And that's the last of the ink
He wanted to get better ink, something more reliable, but he couldn't afford to waste his resources stretching for a goal that may be out of his reach. Assuming it was even possible to begin with. At the same time, it could very well be the ink that was holding him back. Or maybe it was working, but not well enough to pull a visible amount of mana from the battery. He didn't know; he was truly stumbling around in the dark.
What time is it?
"19?! Where did all the time go?"
He dashed from his desk, nearly tripping on his own chair. Shops closed at 20, he only had an hour to get into the city. That was a race he would most likely lose. The distance itself wasn't a problem, even without his boots he could cover it fairly quickly. It was the guards at the gate that would slow him down. As soon as the sun started setting, they got very uppity about security. 
Before he placed a single foot outside, there was a knock on his door. After waiting a moment, they knocked again. Kaiz paused, waiting for the final confirmation. The third knock was far more faint than the previous two. They didn't knock on the wood of the door, but on a small metal plate hidden beneath the grass covering. 
Huh. Who could this be? 
He walked back to his desk and took out a bigger winter battery. It was still tiny, about as big as two fingers, but it held substantially more mana. He touched it against a rune on the wall and allowed the mana to flow through. The trap door slowly lifted, allowing the warm glow of twilight to peek through. The face that followed ruined it, though. It belonged to an aged old man that looked no older than thirty. In his customary fashion, he wore a full set of enchanted apparel. Everything down to his jewelry was enchanted. The black robe he'd seen him wear before, it was apparently a favorite, but a few of the rings were new. 
"Crypt."
"Your petty attempts at insulting me will never reap the rewards you wish."
Kaiz scoffed, "Why would I waste energy insulting a dying man?"
"I assure you, you'll pass from this world long before I do."
Crypt, real name Christopher, was a wily old businessman that had close ties to the orphanage Kaiz spent some time in. Though a mere tanlar, he was incredibly wealthy. So much so he lived in a lavish mansion within the city walls. He paid many bribes for such a luxury decades ago, but now he held enough power that his position was solidified. It of course helped that he had dirt on every noble this side of the Screaming Sands. 
Kaiz despised him. Not for his wealth nor the means by which he amassed it, but for his treatment of other tanlars. He treated them like most titleds treated them, trash barely worth consideration. Unless, of course, they could make him money. 
"Is that a threat?"
Crypt chuckled, "No. It's a prophecy. But enough of your games. You may be a boy, but you have the responsibilities of a man."
"Rich from an eighty-year-old man pretending to be thirty."
"I have never claimed an age other than my own, you on the other hand.."
Kaiz didn't have a response for that. He was young, younger than most people knew, younger than anyone would assume, younger than anyone his height, build, and disposition had any right to be. He was thirteen. 
Only a small handful of people knew that, though. Even those that knew him as Kaizer and had seen his face could only guess at what his age was. The most assumed number was twenty, the same age as Viz. He ran with it. Better to be seen as a young man than as a child. Crypt was there when Kaiz first showed up at the orphanage, however. An ignorant nine-year-old, he saw no reason to lie. He had been big for his age then, but nothing as drastic as what he was today. Now he was six feet tall, muscular, and had the makings of a beard. 
Crypt sat in his chair while he glared at him in annoyance. He looked towards Kaiz's rune with mild contempt, "Still fascinated with runes are you? Anyway, I'm not here to quip with you, I'm here to discuss your recent activities and what they represent to my interests."
The fuck? He can't possibly know about the Nightwatcher run? Right?
"I couldn't care less how anything we do affects you."
Crypt rolled his eyes, "I'm painfully aware. Your partner would think otherwise. Where you hurt me, you hurt others who are far less opposed to squashing a tiny little bug scowling under a tree."
Kaiz's glare turned murderous, "Another prophecy?"
"A warning. You're all very talented, for tanlars. Don't be lulled into believing that makes you kingpins."
"What, like you?" Kaiz mocked. "We've always been meticulous in our work. We don't need reminders."
"But apparently you do. Conan just lost more than half of his enforcers and everyone knows you're involved."
What? Ho—idiot! We should have seen that coming. Of course losing fifteen of his top men would be noticeable. We're the only other crew up in the North West. If Conan keeps his mouth shut about the Nightwatchers that implicates us. He could then run with that narrative and tell Snake we double crossed him. Would Snake take that as a direct affront? Would leaking a bit of the truth help? Shit. 
Crypt took Kaiz's silence as confirmation, "Now, as you know. The noble council likes a bit of violence between the gangs. Keeps everyone in check and under their thumb. They don't like unknown entities, however. A previously negligible group of kids suddenly taking out more than half of a known operation raises flags. Problematic flags. They want a closer look into who and what you are. Which means, a closer look into who's backing you. I'm sure you can understand the inconvenience of that."
Kaiz raised an eyebrow, "I can, but you haven't 'backed' us in a number of years. What threat is there to you?"
"I may not directly, but don't forget who helped you forge the ties you know hold. What would happen if an inquisition occurred and one of them was caught?"
Kaiz smiled, "No loyalty among your friends Crypt? Though I understand, you're one foot into the beyond anyway."
Crypt's eye twitched, rousing a chuckle from Kaiz. 
"Relax old man. I understand what you're getting at and I can guess what you wish us to do, but I'm confused why you came yourself? If that was all, this was a very unnecessary trip." 
"I was merely in the area."
"Am I supposed to believe that?"
Crypt looked at his watch and smirked, "Believe what you wish. As long as you understand the situation, that's enough."
He swiftly stood up and left. Very much in a hurry. Kaiz briefly entertained the idea of following him, but decided against it. He wasn't particularly adept at stealth, and the chances of him moving around the slums without serious protection was slim to none. He may have had friends within the city, but he had nothing but enemies outside of it. 
I wonder what slimy shit he's getting up to. 
He looked at his failed rune. 
Definitely too late now. 
Lacking the mental strength to be productive, he slipped a mask and some sandals on and headed outside. He wasn't going anywhere in particular, just a walk to think about things. It was the perfect time for it, winter was officially here. In Goldfrucht, a desert kingdom, 'winter' just translated to 'rainy season'. The brief part of the year where every day was cloudy, and the weather was actually decent. 
We can probably ignore the inquisition. Doubt they'd go through with it, this zone is as poor and inconsequential as it gets. Even if they do, we've pretty much gotten rid of all of our so-called 'backers'. Hell, it may prove the perfect opportunity to remove any lingering strings. We can use them as contacts if we ever need to, but they should have no say in or pay from what we do. Crypt probably has some business with Conan going that we're interrupting. If getting ousted for his illegal affiliations was a serious prospect, it wouldn't be us that caused it. The bigger issue here is what is Conan going to do and how will Snake respond? Could we reposition the heat on to him? If we leak that they fought some Nightwatchers, they should view Conan as an overambitious thug. But then if Snake could piece together the truth, even if Conan got axed Snake would come for our heads. 
Distracted by his thoughts, Kaiz almost failed to see the distinct flash of a spell being cast. Almost. He swiftly lunged to the side. As he moved he saw two mana arrows hit the ground and disappear. Immediately vetoing the 'wait to get shot' plan, he scrambled into the nearest shack. In his aimless wandering, he'd walked into the slums.
An ambush?!
He burst out the back of the shack and ran. Not making it ten meters, more arrows flew. He barely dodged and one sliced through the side of his shirt. 
Damn it!
He didn't have his boots on, or any enchanted gear at all for that matter. Fighting at range was already his weak spot, without any gear it was a gaping hole. He could only do one thing. 
[Execute: Fire hands]
Resolving to face the threat head on, he activated his trump card. If they were going to fight him with ranged spells, thinking he was easy pickings, they were in for a rude awakening. He pivoted, scanning his surroundings. He spotted them. They glowed white, and they were running. 
Oh no you don't!
He gave chase, but quickly found his speed lacking. Instead of gaining ground, they were just getting away. When they leapt onto a roof in one bound, he gave up. He wasn't catching them as he was now. He'd just waste his own energy.
Bastard. Who the hell was that? Who uses mana arrows?
A massive headache was forming behind his eyes. So many things were going on at once. 
Fuck it! I'm going to bed. I'll deal with this in the morning. 
Deciding to head the long way home, just in case there was another ambusher, he proceeded towards one of their hideouts. 
Is that the well? Wow. How far south did I go? 
Ten minutes of zigzagging through alleys later, the southern hideout was in sight. A small smirk rose from him as he arrived at the only three-storey building in the area. Even knowing its true purpose, calling it a hideout just felt wrong. The building was about as conspicuous as you could be; Well-built, clean, and crawling with people. 
When he emerged from the darkness the alert ones looked towards him, some reaching for their weapons, but when they saw his mask they went back to their business. In a weird way, his anonymity made him the most well-known person in the crew. Everyone knew he wasn't for socializing. Most assumed it was because he was slow. He hated the assumption at first, but it had proved useful over the years. 
He ignored them and kept moving, adding a bit of umph to his step. The guards at the entrance gave him a simple nod as he waltzed in. He scrunched his nose as soon as he was inside. The stench reaching it was disgusting. Not quite revolting, but leaving was still an immediate priority. He strolled through the bar, doing his best to ignore the scent of alcohol, vomit, and unwashed bodies. Fortunately, it was too early for the true festivities. Unfortunately, Code was getting drunk anyway. 
"Ayyy! The Silent Ghost himself! The greatest runner in all of Goldfrucht! Cheers for the Silent Ghost!"
A couple men raised their mugs in cheers, but the vast majority of the room merely grunted.
"Come, come. Sit, drink. Another drink!"
Kaiz sighed, "No." 
He tried to keep moving, but Code grabbed his arm, "Come on!"
"I ain't no drinker."
Code waxed on about 'activities of companionship' and not betraying their years of friendship, but Kaiz knew it was all an act. They both knew he wasn't going to take his mask off here. Code was just bored. As such, Kaiz calmly removed his arm from his grasp and moved to the second floor. The second floor was 'staff only', which obviously meant it was empty. As soon as the sun set, you were either on a job, on a bed, or on your way to a painful morning. Kaiz wasn't up there to do paper work either, despite what his rummaging through files would have an observer believe.

Under their hideout, and much of the slums, there was an impressive array of tunnels. They didn't know who built them or when, but it didn't matter. They had fully scouted them and controlled every access point. One such access point was very close to his own personal hideout. 
Exiting the tunnels, he slowly scanned his surroundings. He should have been clear, but it didn't hurt to be extra cautious. There were no signs of an ambush or a tracker or any soul at all. Confident he was home free, he jogged into the forest. His problems shelved for another day.
