DENVER - It was October 1941.
An elderly man had been found beaten to death in his small brick home in what we call today the Highlands.
Neighbors, concerned when the gentleman had not shown up to a dinner party, discovered him.
The crime was reminiscent of a horror scene. Yet, the truth about what happened to 73-year old Phillip Peters, was very much stranger than any fiction a novelist could imagine.
The home on West Moncreiff Place
73-year-old Philip Peters was found bludgeoned to death in his home at 3335 West Moncrieff Place on Friday October 17, 1941.
Police said his head was smashed with a heavy 'stove shaker,' and at first his horrific homicide had police stumped, with no motive or suspect.
Nothing had been taken from the home, so robbery was unlikely.
Peters was a retired auditor for Denver and Rio Grande Western railroad.
"The killer took time to wash his hands and to wipe off the murder instrument, so he could have taken time for the robbery," Detective Captain James E. Childers told the Denver Post in the days after the crime.
The elderly man had no enemies, making revenge an unlikely motive as well. His wife, who had just broken her hip, was not at home, but in the hospital, and neighbors were keeping an eye out for Mr. Peters.
Fingerprints were found, but yielded no leads as they were just from neighbors, Mr. Peters, or his wife.
Those same neighbors found him on Saturday evening, sprawled on the floor of a bedroom inside his home. Blood was everywhere.

The police investigation: stumped for months
Newspaper articles in the Denver Post reported "scores" of detectives were placed on the case.
Police described the brutal slaying as "without mercy," as blood had even spattered on to the ceiling and was spread in different rooms throughout the home.
It was evident Peters had struggled during the assault, and police said he fought back using several walking canes.
He died after being struck 37 times with the cast iron makeshift weapon.
Detective Childers was frustrated. It took nine months until detectives would get a break.

"A thin, white hand," and the break in the case
In July, 1942, a woman called police. She told officers in a shaky voice she had been hired to help Mrs. Peters around the house, one of two women who did so after the widow's husband had been killed.
Soon after she began staying in the house, she heard "strange" noises. Today, though, she actually saw something.
"Just a few minutes ago, I heard a sort of tapping. I had heard it before, but I thought it was only some woodpeckers. But this time I walked into the kitchen- and I saw the door to the stairway that leads upstairs slowly open," she told police.
The Denver Post quoted her in their February 7, 1960 edition of Denver Post Empire, which was an interview with the case's lead detective, decades after the crime had been solved.
"A foot came out and then I saw a thin white hand on the door! I screamed and the man ducked back into the stairway and I heard him running up the steps," the housekeeper told police.
Police responded immediately and searched the home: they found nothing. The upstairs bedrooms looked entirely normal, and the panels which appeared to go to the attic via the ceiling had been sealed shut.
The housekeepers, terrified, refused to return to the home and Mrs. Peters was moved back to the hospital for care while police investigated.
Keeping watch for 'the ghost'
Two detectives were assigned to guard the house until they saw or heard something.
Days passed. Nothing. The detectives were pulled from their watch.
Then, another lucky break: on Thursday, July 30, detectives in the neighborhood found something.
Two policemen in the area had stopped by to check on the place – and as they were searching the first floor, they heard a lock turning in a door upstairs.
Detective Roy Bloxom opened a closet door and there he saw a pair of legs disappearing upward through a tiny panel into the attic.
He lunged, pulled the mystery man's legs until he clattered to the ground, and  then called his captain.
Now Police Chief, James Childers described this man as "the strangest looking human I had ever seen. He was a tall man, just under 6 feet, but thin as a wilted weed. His dirty hair hung low over his ears, and his skin was the ugly, unwashed gray of an overcast sky."
His shoes and clothes were rotted and torn. One of the officers told Childers the man had been living in the home since September – nearly a year. And no one had noticed.
No one, except perhaps Mr. Peters.

Stranger than fiction: The Spiderman's confession
The man told police his name was Mathew Cornish, but really it was Theodore Coneys.
After feeding him a hamburger, apple pie, and some coffee, police began questioning the transient on Peters' murder.
The 59-year-old man had kept one panel unlocked to the crawlspace above the home, and would lock it from the inside when he retreated to his attic abode.
At first, he denied it.
Then, he proceeded to tell the truth, which was very much stranger than any fiction, indeed.
Coneys had come to Denver as a sick boy with his widowed mother, and actually met the Peters when he joined a mandolin and guitar club. He had been invited to their home several times.
When his mom died, he left Denver and became a bit of a lost soul, drifting from town to town.
In April 1941, he returned to Denver as a homeless person, sleeping in alleys and doorways and spending a dime a day on food.
As the weather turned cooler, in September, he remembered his "old friend" Phil Peters. With Peters gone at the hospital to visit his wife, Coneys let himself into the home, raided the fridge for food, and discovered a loose panel leading up to an attic.
The space was 27-inches high and 57-inches wide. He made it his home.
"It looked like a good place to hole up for the winter," he told detectives.
So he stayed, and when the house was vacant, he would slip downstairs and steal some food, just a bit at a time so as not to draw suspicion.
He cut into the house's wiring system to install an outlet in the attic. He stockpiled the Peters' canned goods. He even built a makeshift radio to "stay in touch with the outside world."
A deadly discovery
Coneys' ghostly existence was disturbed one evening as he had slipped downstairs to make some coffee. He thought Peters was out to dinner – but the homeowner instead entered through his back door as the unwanted houseguest was standing at the kitchen stove.
Coneys hit Peters over the head with an old .44 caliber revolver in the kitchen – and Peters, stunned, moved to the living room to call police.
Hitting Peters again, Coneys told police he thought he had knocked him out, and he planned to take some money and leave. Instead, he heard Peters in the bedroom.
That's when he told police he beat the elderly man with the stove shaker - until he was still.
Stranger still, Coneys continued to stay in the home. He heard the news of Peters' death on his makeshift radio while hiding in the tiny attic above the very room in which he killed the old man.
Eventually police detectives returned to the home to see Coneys' habitat. The stench of it made one officer vomit.

The Spiderman's sentence
On Halloween, 1942, a jury took just 90 minutes to convict Coneys guilty of murder – he was given life in prison instead of the gas chamber, The Denver Post reported.
Upon his sentencing Coneys was quoted to say, "Now I feel safe. I'll have a better home than I have had in years."
He was imprisoned in Canon City until his death in 1967.
And that is the stranger-than-fiction story of the Denver Spiderman.

The Cocker Spaniel that Meng Li brought over was well trained, and didn't bark or wander around everywhere. It lay quietly on the floor, sniffed, blinked its big eyes, and stared at the kitchen of the small restaurant, where the aroma of cooked food was coming from. 
Zhang Zian took a few sips of his orange juice, then thought silently about the letters on the napkin.　　
Since they were talking about science fiction, he remembered a fiction story he'd read in the past. He asked, "Professor Meng, I'm wondering if you've read a short fantasy story, called the Book of Sand?"　　
"Book of Sand?"　　　　
This time, it was Meng Li's turn to feel shocked. He was bending over to comb out his Cocker Spaniel's fur. Cocker Spaniels had naturally curly long fur, which easily tangled and needed frequent combing. Otherwise, they would look sleazy. Besides from studying, his graduate students had another assignment to comb the dog's hair, which made them joke that they were working at a cotton mill.　
Meng Li thought for a while and was certain that this name was unfamiliar. He hadn't read it.　　
"Like I said, I rarely read science fiction. Most of the books I read are about math. You have to keep learning these days, otherwise you'll get outdated very easily." He smiled. "Is this Book of Sand an interesting read?"　　
"No, despite the fact that it's called Book of Sand, it's not an actual book, but a short fantasy story with only 2000 words. The author is the Argentinean writer, Jorge Luis Borges. This is his most recognized work," explained Zhang Zian. He'd read the story a long time ago, but he still remembered it because it was so mind-blowing.  
"Oh?" Meng Li was slightly interested. "In math, brevity is beauty. A story of 2000 words is somehow this author's most recognized work? It must be deep in thought and artistic. What is it about?"　　
Zhang Zian recalled this science fiction story and began retelling it.　　
In the beginning of Book of Sand, the hero was an ordinary man living in an ordinary house. One day, a stranger visited him with a suitcase. The stranger was selling the Bible, but the man was not interested, as he already owned a few Bibles. Then the stranger took out another book. It wasn't a Bible, but the cover read The Holy Book.　　
After flipping open The Holy Book, the protagonist found that the page numbers were odd. They weren't in sequential order, but completely random. Most importantly, the page number of the book was endless, and he could never find the beginning nor the end. New pages always appeared out of nowhere, and the book had pictures like a dictionary.　　
The stranger said that he bought this book from a village. The salesperson called it The Book of Sand, as it was endless like sand.　　
It was a very strange book, but the stranger was willing to sell it to the man at a relatively low price. In fact, he'd wanted to get rid of it for a long time.　　
After getting this book, that man also became its slave. He stopped going out, for he loved the book so much that he couldn't step away from it. He studied it all day and night, because of his obsessive interest in it. He could no longer sleep. And even if he did sleep, he dreamed about it all the time.　　
Like the stranger, the man suddenly realized that his life would be completely ruined if he continued on this way. So he decided to get rid of this nightmare just as the stranger did.　
After getting this far, Zhang Zian suddenly started acting mysterious and asked, "Can you guess how the hero got rid of the book?"　　
Meng Li was completed drawn in by this odd story. He stopped combing the Cocker Spaniel's fur and took a guess. "Did he sell it to somebody else, like the stranger did?"
Zhang Zian smiled. "He did something smarter. He hid it like a tree in the forest. When nobody was watching, he hid the book on a bookshelf of a national library with 0.9 million books, and tried not to remember which shelf it was. He never even visited the street where the library was."　　
Meng Li knocked on the table with excitement. "Great idea! If he did so, this Book of Sand could no longer be found, unless some extremely unlucky guy picked it up, with a chance of 1 out of 0.9 million!"　　
Zhang Zian smiled bitterly.  This extremely unlucky is sitting right in front of you, and offered you a glass of orange juice.　
He remembered that when Pi first arrived at the pet shop, it would make a gesture of slipping sand out of its hand. Back then, he thought that it was referring to the sand of Ganges river. Could he be wrong?　　
"So is the story is over?" Meng Li was looking forward to hearing more.　　
Zhang Zian nodded. "It's finishes with an open ending. Professor, is this Book of Sand similar to The Hyperwebster Dictionary?"
Meng Li said, "Indeed. But the Hyperwebster is more rigorous, and it does have a beginning."　　
Zhang Zian agreed on this. The Hyperwebster was a theory of science, but the Book of Sand was a fantasy of literature. They shared some similarities only in certain aspects.
"Either the Hyperwebster or the Book of Sand, if they do exist, would be very precious. Aren't they? They would be the most impressive books on Earth. Or if there are other civilizations in the universe, could they come up with better books?" he asked.　　
He remembered that Galaxy once said the nameless book was the most impressive book on the earth, but not in the universe.　　
Meng Li asked, "Impressive? Of course. Except that both books have limitations, which is because they're written in English, and are limited to the 26 letters. Some ideas can't be expressed by just 26 English letters. If some civilization in the universe has a more comprehensive linguistic system, they could theorize a better version of the Hyperwebster."　　
Zhang Zian nodded. This confirmed Galaxy's remark.　　
"If you got a copy of the Book of Sand, or the Hyperwebster, what would you do?" He tentatively asked again.　　
Meng Li was drinking his orange juice. He stopped after hearing these words.　　
"Get a copy? Neither of these two book are supposed to exist in real life. How would I get a copy?" He pushed the question back with a scientist's rationality.　　
"In theory, let's suppose you had one." Zhang Zian clarified.　　
"Well..." Meng Li thought about it. "If I got the Book of Sand, I might read it. If I would end up getting obsessed over it like the man from the story...I'm not sure, maybe. A lot of people crave knowledge, after all. But if I got the Hyperwebster, well, it's hard to say. The words might be in random order. I wouldn't be able to read even if I try. Perhaps I would give it to the government." 　　
He was half joking.　　
"This is my other question." Zhang Zian ignored his joke. "If the words in the Hyperwebster are in random order, how can you know that it contains all knowledge and all of the great writings?"　　
Meng Li murmured, "This is theoretical. Theories are theories, after all. They never consider the obstacles of actually reading it."　　
Zhang Zian continued. "Have you heard this quote: My life has an end, but knowledge is endless?"　　
"Yes. I may be a mathematician, but I know this famous quote." Meng Li smiled. "It means that, our lives are limited, but knowledge is limitless. How is this related to our discussion about the Hyperwebster and the Book of Sand?"　　
"It is, in fact, very much related." Zhang Zian spoke firmly. "Professor Meng, do you know the second half of this quote?"　　
"Well..." Meng Li had no idea.　　
The first half of this quote was well-known, but the second half was often ignored. A lot of famous quotes were like this. People only took the parts that they needed, and twisted the original meanings. Such as the quote: When your parents are still around, you travel too far. It was often used to teach people to treat their parents properly. However, in the original text of Confucius, the second half was: If you travel, you must have a plan.
"The second half is: Chasing the endless with the limited is dangerous!" Zhang Zian answered his own question.　　
Meng Li considered the second half of the quote, and compared it to the first half. Then he said with uncertainty, "I'm not an expert in ancient literature. The second half means pursuing unlimited knowledge with my limited life is doomed to fail?"　
"Correct."　　
"Our ancestor's words still make sense today," exclaimed Meng Li.　
"I agree," said Zhang Zian half-heartedly. This was all his self-reflection. He understood something, more or less.　　
That untitled book, whether it was the Hyperwebster or the Book of Sand, or some other imaginary book of another civilization in the universe, was endless. But human beings were still limited. Pursuing the neverending with the limited was destined to fail. Therefore, nobody could read the nameless book on their own. As he flipped open the nameless book in attempt to understand it, he was making this mistake.
The man from the Book of Sand, out of his thirst for knowledge, was making the same mistake as well. He didn't realize that knowledge was without bounds, but his time was limited.　
It really was true. My life has an end, but knowledge is endless. Chasing the endless with the limited is dangerous!　　
Unless...　　
Meng Li realized this at the same time. "A limited person cannot read an endless book, unless there are endless numbers of people. If an infinite number of people are reading the Hyperwebster at the same time, and each person is extracting meaningful words and connect them into lines and articles, then they are pursuing infinity with infinity."　
"But how can there be infinite numbers of people? It's still meaningless." He shook his head and sighed.　　
No, it is meaningful, said Zhang Zian silently to himself.　　
He understood why Galaxy could read the nameless book. It had been through an infinite number of reincarnations, and had the infinity feature.　　
Famous was going through reincarnations with Galaxy in the Imagined World, and touched the border of infinity. That was why it could see blurry words.　　
Pi could read it, as it must have also possessed the infinite feature.　　
One could only understand the nameless book by pursuing infinity with infinity.

To be honest, I have never actually believed in such a thing. The idea of it just seems too unbelievable. That is why even now, after living here for 5 years, I still couldn't believe it.
"What's wrong son?"
My mother looked at me and asked.
"Huh?"
The call of her voice woke me up from daze
"You've been blankly staring at your food for a while now. Are you not hungry?"
I looked at her then answered.
"It's not that mom... I was just thinking that reality really is stranger than fiction."
"Why's that?"
She tilted her head as she asked. 'Because, It seems like I just experienced reincarnation in real life', No, I can't say that. I smiled and thought of a different answer.
"Because I couldn't believe that such a delicious dish like this can actually exist in this world."
I heard my mom sighed then she looked at me with a smile.
"You sound just like your father. Sometimes I even have a hard time believing that you're actually only 5 years old."
"I'll take that as a compliment."
After that, I began eating.
After I was done, I went to the kitchen and asked my mom if I can help out with the dishes.
"Thanks, son but it's alright. You can't even properly reach the sink."
"I'll just use a chair."
"That's dangerous, what if you fall off?"
She said with a stern voice. It didn't look like she would change her mind about this so I gave up and returned to my room.
Jessica, that's the name of my mother. Well, my new mother. She's kind and gentle but sometimes I find her a bit overprotective. Must be because of her line of work. I've never personally seen her work, but she once told me that her job involves healing injured people. So I'm guessing that she's either a nurse or a doctor. It doesn't look like she makes that much money, but it's probably because we live in such a rural area.
Speaking of which, I don't even know which country this is. When I asked my dad, he said that were in the country of Adel. I don't think I've ever heard of that place before, but then again, it's not like I've memorized the name of every country on earth. Wish I could look it up on the internet to get a better idea of this place, but it doesn't look like this place has any ways to access the web.
Which reminds me, I don't think I've ever seen any cellphones, TV's or any other kind of technology here. I know it's a rural area, but this is too much. Maybe this country is just way behind in terms of technological advancements. No, wait.
I looked up the ceiling and found an oddly shaped lightbulb.
We do have some kind of technology here, we have lightbulbs that closely mimics the light from a fluorescent light. And my mom also uses a stove that doesn't require the use of any gas tanks. There's also that wooden box that functions like a refrigerator. I tried looking for its cord but I couldn't seem to find it. Now I'm becoming more curious about this place. I wish I could read up on this place somewhere to quench my curiosity.
We do have a couple of books here, but most of them are works of fiction, telling epic tales of adventurers traveling around the world fighting monsters using swords and magic. Not gonna lie, they're actually pretty entertaining.
The others are cookbooks. I think I once saw my mother reading a book about healing. At first, I thought it would be about medicines and stuff, but it was actually a book going in-depth about healing magic and all kinds of mumbo jumbo... 

...hold on.

I started sweating.
...My mom isn't involved in anything shady is she? I mean, she couldn't be, she's too kind and gentle...
...But I also heard that those kinds of people are the ones who were more easily decieved- No No No!
I shook my head in denial.
*Sigh*
Maybe I should just go and ask her. But even if I did, she's not going to go 'That's right, I'm involved in a cult.' she'll probably deny it and say it's nothing shady. Which means I have to be more subtle in my questionings.
So I went out and saw her in the living room drinking tea.
I then started thinking of questions that I could ask her. She looked at my direction once she heard the door open then smiled once she spotted me.
"Ah son, do you also want some tea? Come here and have a sit."
I looked at her and nodded. I was a bit nervous so I thought that maybe if I drank some tea I'll be able to calm down.
So I sat in front of her and took a sip of the tea. I was still nervous but it seems like the tea helped me calm down a bit.
"Son, why are you looking at me like that? Is there something on my face."
I was trying to find the right words to say until I finally opened my mouth.
"M-mom."
"Yes, son?"
"Y-your job doesn't involve any... chantings... does it?"
Please say no!
I was nervously waiting for her answer. It appears she was confused at the sudden out of the blue question, but she answered regardless.
"That's right, it's a bit hard to do my work without chanting."
NOOOO!!!
I felt the temperature of my body suddenly drop and I began sweating.
Wait! Maybe she meant something like a prayer. Maybe her job is so stressful that she first needed to say a prayer before she continues her work. That's right, that's right. Calm down me. Maybe I should ask her a different question.
So I looked at her again and asked another question.
"M-mom?"
"Yes, son?"
"D-does your job also involves... drawing... circles with d-different symbols on them?"
Please say NOOO!!!
"That's right, but only in rare cases when the person is heavily injured."
NOOOO!!!
I hung my head down.

Maybe my dad can pull her out of it once he finds out that his dear wife is actually involved in something really shady.
"That's right, what about it?."
I stared at her blankly.
"And he's okay with it?"
"Yes, he said he was even proud of me for what I was doing."
My mind went blank and just stared at her.
"Son?"
At that time, the door opened.
"Oh, welcome back dear."
"I'm ba- huh? What's wrong with him?"
The two looked at me with concern.
"I-it's nothing, just a bit dizzy that's all."
"That's not nothing, stay put."
My mother said looking worried.
"No, I'll just go back to my room and lay down for a bit."
As I quickly turned my self to the side, my leg bumped the table.
"Ah!"
Then I fell off the chair and bruised my chin and elbow.
"Son!"
The two quickly rushed towards me.
My mom placed her hands on my knees and started chanting.
My eyes widened as I saw the glow and my injuries closing up.
"W-what the..."
She then did the same with my other injuries. I looked at her feeling mesmerized by what was happening.
After my injuries were all healed, she breathed a sigh of relief. But once she saw me looking at her with a gaping mouth, she once again took on a worried look.
"Does it still hurt somewhere? Tell me where it hurts."
When I saw her worry, I quickly shook my head.
"No, it doesn't hurt anywhere... It's just..."
"Just?"
I looked at her with glowing eyes.
"What was that!?"
My parents were taken aback by my sudden enthusiastic attitude.
"What do you- ah!"
It looks like my Mom finally understood what I mean.
"I forgot, this was your first time seeing magic right?"
"Magic?"
"That's right, speaking of which... dear."
"Yes?"
"Red is almost 6 years old right, it's almost time for him to enter school."
"Oh right!"
My dad said in a cheerful tone.
"I've been teaching him how to read because of how persistent he was about it. I wasn't sure if he would get it at first, but he actually surprised me on how fast he was able to pick up on it. Especially at such a young age. I think our son might actually be a genius."
Wrong, It's because I'm an adult in a toddler's body. But it's not like I can actually say that to them, maybe one day though.
"I think so too! Oh right, earlier, he was talking about how reality seems to be stranger than fiction while pondering at the dinner table. I think he might even grow up as a philosopher!"
The two began cheerfully chatting and boasting about me. It's honestly getting a bit embarrassing. So I tried to cut in.
"Um..."
"Yes, son?"
The two simultaneously looked at me.
"What was that about school again?"
"Oh right, we were talking about that."
Dad said as if he just remembered. He then smiled and asked me a question.
"Son, are you interested in magic?"
"Very!"
I answered straight away.
His smile grew even wider at my answer.
"Well then, you're in luck. Because school will teach you all about it."
Excitement began building up inside me.
Magic!
At that moment, I realized. I wasn't on earth anymore. I was in a whole new world.
Once I realized this, I became even more excited. My curiosity started growing, wondering what other fantastical things this world has to offer.

That night, I was having a hard time falling asleep. I was too enchanted by the thought of magic. Not those pseudo magic that street performers usually do. But real magic!
I couldn't sleep so I thought of reading a couple of books to help calm me down. While I was browsing around, I found that book that goes in-depth talking about healing magic.
Magic!
I took it and quickly headed back to my room feeling giddy.
I lay down the book on my bed and read it.
My face soon took on a puzzled expression as I continued reading.
"...yeah... I don't get it..."
The book kept using words such as mana, casting, magic formula, and other words that are just too foreign to me.
"Maybe it's because I haven't learned the basics yet."
It was like reading a math book discussing algebra without even knowing how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Even so, I continued reading as just the thought of magic simply fascinates me.
If I were asked why I was so fascinated by magic, well, first of all, IT'S MAGIC! second of all, I'm usually a skeptic, especially towards the supernatural. That's why, when something truly extraordinary happens that disproves my pre-conceived notion on reality, The impact is even greater.
I continued reading even though I barely understand a thing about it.
And after some time has passed, I finally fell asleep.

In the morning, I asked my mother to teach me about the basics of magic. And she happily complied. And ever since that day, I've been enthusiastically learning about magic almost every day. The more I learned about it, the more I grew interested in the topic. It made me even more excited for the day when I would be able to actually perform it.
Unfortunately, I would have to wait 5 more years for that to happen. As mana, as well as aura, which I learned was like a form of body enhancing energy used primally by warriors, only begins to develop in the body at the age of 10.
Speaking of aura, My father Jonathan is actually an aura user. Although he's not really a fighter, he still uses aura on a daily basis whenever he works. He's a farmer, and since aura is a body enhancing energy, he is able to work more effectively and be less fatigue.
Sometimes I seem him passionately writing stories in his spare time. But he never really submits them for publication. I've read some of his work and they were actually pretty good. Reading his work became another form of entertainment for me that kept me from getting bored since I can't really go outside. Well, mom won't let me go outside saying it's too dangerous.
Anyways, I wonder why dad gave up on his dream of becoming a famous author. Maybe I'll try asking him about it in the future. As I don't think he'll be able to discuss it seriously with a 5-year-old toddler.
"Oh right, Son, Nancy is visiting tomorrow to babysit you. It seems like they're going need me at work. Nancy is actually more knowledgeable about magic than I am so you can ask her all kinds of questions about it."
"Big sister Nancy? No offense to her, mom, but I find that hard to believe."
"She may act a bit immature sometimes but she was actually the best in her class. A genius even."
I felt my jaw drop.
Nancy, she's a friend of my mother that sometimes takes care of me when both of them are at work.
The reason why I was so shocked to find out that she was actually a genius was because I sometimes find her a bit childish that I often wonder which one of us was doing the babysitting.
"Why, do you not like her?"
I shook my head at her question.
"No, it's not that... She's fun to hang out with. It's just, I didn't really expect that from her."
"Well, as you said, sometimes reality really is stranger than fiction."
My mother said with a wry smile.
She then headed back to the kitchen to do the dishes.
"Ah! Let me hel-"
My mom immediately turned her head and started staring daggers at me. It looks like the previous incident has made her even more overprotective.
Come on mom! It's just doing the dishes, how dangerous could it be!
I mean, I guess I did fell off the chair and bruised myself so I kinda understand where she's coming from, but come on.
Well, whatever. I'll just help out with something else that is considered "less dangerous".
So I picked up the broom and started cleaning the living room. After I was done, I went back to my room to read some books.
Oh right, Nancy is visiting tomorrow and she's apparently also a genius. Maybe I should prepare some questions to ask her beforehand.
With that thought in mind, I began writing all kinds of questions that popped up in my head. It was mostly about magic but there were also other questions related to other things. I don't know how many she would actually be able to answer, but I just continued writing regardless.
I felt my heart beating as I thought about learning more, not only about magic but also about this whole new world of fantasy. I began smiling as I was writing. This is just too exciting.

To give you a quick idea of what the story is all about, the original title of this novel was supposed to be "The Yankee in Another World" but when I thought about writing that in the cover I immediately thought 'HELL NAW' and went with a different one and I feel like the new title captures the essence of this story more. because although it's categorized as an Isekai, the story is more focused on redemption rather than the Isekai fantasy stuff. It might also take a while until it reaches the isekai part.

Hopefully, I'll be able to update this synopsis once I thought of a good one.

Amaryllis Kate Mendoza was a transfer student that suddenly barged into my home school, National Minami High School, during the start of the second semester. Note that it was my final year of being a high school student and she transferred to my class only to mean that she's in her final year too─leading to a weird time of the year that heavily regards her as a "mysterious transfer student" as emphasized with quotations.

Following a certain trope.

A trope, in fact, clichéd if we were instructed to base to popular culture.

For this supposed person named after a flower to buck this trend, she sure was a person worth telling the story of.

A mysterious transfer student.

Those experiences can be measured by intensities, as suggest, some might have their own experiences encountering such premise once in their lives but it would likely be harmless. Something that just passed by, never to be noticed at the proceeding points after the fact of knowing that it was that kind of situation. Of course, that would fall to the stupidly light intensity wherein, for you, even if there was that, nothing happened. But as everything has its opposite, as eventless as it was to you, some other claimer of the facts suddenly tell that it was eventful for them, or otherwise, some other claimer of the facts tell it was eventless for you but for yourself, it was a wreck that compiling it in a single book is a lost cause. Like in a day wherein the weirdness meets the mundane, it just happens naturally like a roller coaster ride.

Eventless was it to someone, eventful it was to someone else.

Though it would be the near same kind of situation in the first place, there's no telling what outcome do the intensity falls.

For me, supposedly telling about this tale like I'm doomed to have this memory in my head forever, the idea of a person barging in to my life had to be those events I had to take caution of.

As I've always took previous problems lightly, I never considered that there were downsides─for naught, had equal upsides that I can't begin to remember as neither fond nor terrifying memories.

Anyways, those past incidents aside, the incidents portrayed in this tale were different.

Harmless was it to someone else, harmful it was to me.

Unimaginable to be real but as they said, reality is stranger than fiction.

If these kind of unusual transfer happens in the world of fiction, absurdly enough, it's a challenge of accepting them if they try to appear in which would be called reality. In opposite effect, it could somehow be a prank that the creatures of fiction decided to actually break the fourth wall and come to life as regular contenders of reality and then start invading the accepted reality. Though that's how I'd simulate it, that would be more strangely absurd─as fourth wall breaks are never done that way.

However I'm trying to laugh over the last line, this tale wouldn't be just as funny.

If I presume, mysteries always often lead to bizarre developments that keeping track is a mess─the commotion that was developed due to her existence was certainly messy.

That day, during the 2nd of September, I met her.

A meeting as if I was dipped in radioactive chemicals.

A girl, supposed to be, followed by mysterious red butterflies─revolving around her in the strangest decorum.

An exception out of the ordinary.

To refer with the person known as me, Clover Yazawa, it was only of the ordinary spectacle. There wasn't much of it that I would extract out bits of my sanity.

As things always worked out for me in the way I've read them, I never thought of being a person that would think out of the box for once.
