"After we're done eating? How about that?" He chuckled.

"Okay, goodie! Don't try to wiggle your way out of this one, mister. This was a condition to get your dinner," she gave him a stern look before breaking into a fit of giggles.

"I wouldn't dream of it," he said, holding up his hand in the traditional Scout's pledge.

They continued their playful eating, which at some point, divulged into a miniature food fight whenever Stephen launched a fry in her direction. Grace, mocking a shocked look on her face with her mouth wide open, launched back two fries as a response. Of course, things escalated from there, until Grace was using her powers to launch fries without her hands. 

"Okay, I surrender, I surrender," laughed Stephen, holding up his hands before getting pelted with one more magical fry right to the forehead.

"I like winning!" Grace beamed. "Shall I be merciful? That is the real question!" She stroked her finger along her lips, making a big show of thinking.

"Yes, please, all powerful genie," said Stephen, pressing his hands together in a sign of mercy. "Please show mercy!"

"Hmm, that's a tough one," Grace played along. She finally launched herself across the table, smothering him with kisses, "but I'll show mercy to you, boyfriend."

"Thank God," Stephen laughed, and returned her kissing. His wheels were turning though, and soon thought of something he wanted to ask her. "Grace? Something that just occurred to me. How are we going to keep the fact that you're a genie secret? I mean, if we just had the same food fight in public, it could do more than raise a few eyebrows."

"Well, then, we just won't have food fights in public," answered Grace, rather glibly.

He tickled her side in response, earning an over reactive response and yell from her.

"Aahh! Oh, stop! Stop, so ticklish," she yelped. "You win, okay!" Stephen stopped, and just grinned at her. "Slave driver, you are!" She stuck her tongue out at him.

"Careful, or I'll find a use for that tongue!"

Her eyes changed almost immediately, going from playful to seductive, "Mmm, you promise?"

Stephen just laughed, "The question, Grace!"

With a lot of people at the party, to make a feast that could feed all them Li Du would have to make a big vegetable pot. He had helped part-time in the school cafeteria during university, and was experienced in this field.
He was able to grasp the taste-buds of Americans; Chinese dishes had to be sour, sweet, spicy, and have a unique flavor. He first added a generous serving of sugar and vinegar mixture.
The important points for this dish were that the meat had to be well-marinated, and the sauce had to be seasoned properly. There was not enough time to marinate the meat, so all his efforts had to be poured into the sauce.
He cut up the meat into strips and battered them with flour, and then dipped them into the oil to fry. After it had turned crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, he started to prepare the sauce.
Chinese restaurants in America usually cut corners with this dish, using ketchup to prepare their sauce. Instead, Li Du properly used large, red tomatoes for the sauce, and added in honey, caramel and sugar-vinegar mixture. The final product was a clear, sweet and sour, delectable sauce.
He then began making Mapo Tofu. He made some adjustments to the dish, making it into a soupier version, so that everyone would be able to scoop the tofu up with their spoons. This fit better with the habits of Americans, as it would be difficult to use their forks with the tofu.
He sautéed the garlic and ginger together with the meat, added bean paste and chilli meat sauce for more seasoning, then added the cut tofu, and finally topped it off with the broth. With a last vigorous effort, he completed the large pot of Mapo Tofu.
Ah Meow sat in a chair and meowed; it even clapped its little paws together every now and then like a bright child.
Li Du would not treat his own child shabbily. He took out a slice of fish and fried it. Ah Meow's eyes brightened, its pupils bright like a pair of pure emeralds.
Dreadlocks guy was leaning at the doorway and watching him cook; he gave a sigh of relief. "Ten minutes and only two dishes—I'm going to win."
Hearing his words, Li Du laughed. His actions accelerated, cutting the vegetables at the speed of a sewing machine stitching. Tick tick tack tack sounded across the kitchen—the clear, crisp sounds of his cutting, and another plate of fish was sliced and done in a few seconds.
While he was cooking, he used the bug's ability to decelerate time. This would kill two birds with one stone; as a form of training and also to speed up his cooking.
The group of people watching at the door only saw the knife flashing and dancing, and the empty plate Li Du was working on would instantly become packed full of food. Stephen said in awe, "He really knows magic!"
"Look at that fat cat, when did it get a piece of fish?"
Ah Meow was happily feasting on the large piece of fish, its eyes shut in content.
Someone patted Dreadlock Guy's shoulder and said, "Clyne, you're screwed!"
Half an hour went by, and Hans setup the tables and benches in the backyard while Li Du started serving the dishes onto the tables.
Clyne and the others initially thought that he would just make a few simple dishes. They never expected Li Du to make so many extravagant plates.
A teenager beside Stephen exclaimed, "Hey man, that is your rival? That guy's too scary, is he a chef?"
"Flagstaff's treasure hunter, the China Li—you don't know him? He's been gaining a lot of traction recently. He's not a chef; he's an amazing treasure hunter."
Clyne said unhappily, "Sh*t. Why didn't you warn us about him?"
"I told you he always wins his bets," Stephen said helplessly.
When Hans saw that Li Du had brought out that many dishes, he became extremely proud of him. He put his arm around Li Du's shoulder and said, "Come, come, come—everyone, try my brother's food—don't be reserved. My brother has a pair of hands blessed by God, and not just in treasure hunting but in cooking too!"
"You're not the one that made these, so what are you so excited about?" Hans's uncle, Reeves, asked.
Hans chuckled, "Li and I are blood brothers. I'm excited and proud of him."
A lady said, "Don't just think about food—let's take out the presents and wish Hannah a happy birthday!"
When it was time to showcase their presents, Hans pulled his sister to the side and then passed her a gift box. "Hannah, happy birthday. See what your brother has bought you. I know you will be ecstatic."
Hannah took the gift box and put it away. "I'll leave the best for last and open it tonight."
Americans would open their presents immediately in front of the person who gave it to them as a sign of respect. But for friends and family that they were close to they may decide to open them later. Hannah could do this with Hans, but for other people, she would have to open the gifts on the spot.
The rest of the gift-giving was the same as in China. Americans didn't leave price tags on their gifts—Li Du asked the car dealer to prepare the Z4 as a present, and Carl specifically covered the car's price with a piece of paper.
Reeves then took his present out. It was a pretty pair of sunglasses. Hannah took them out and gave her uncle a hug. "Thank you, my dear uncle. I have always wanted a new pair of shades. Now that spring has come, the sun is really too bright."
In Hollywood movies, many Americans on screen loved to wear sunglasses—even indoors. This was not because they were trying to be cool, but because of the lighter color tone of their irises. They were sensitive to sunlight.
Everyone started sending their presents to Hannah. Nothing was extremely expensive. The things that Hannah's friends got for her were mostly gift cards—things like Starbucks, books, and concert tickets.
Li Du made a call, and then a tow truck rolled down the road and slowly pulled up on the street near the apartment. It dropped off a car that was covered with a canvas.
The people in the garden were focused on the present-opening session and didn't notice the car.
Stephen gave his gift. When the box was opened, there was a crystal necklace inside.
The crystals were transparent. These must have been artificial crystals, for natural crystals of such purity would cost millions.
Hannah gave a delighted scream after receiving the necklace. "This is so cool, Stephen—really beautiful. A pity there's no sun now. It would definitely be prettier under the sunlight."
She looked at Stephen emotionally and said to him sweetly, "Thank you, Stephen, I will treasure this."
Stephen was not good with praise, and just smiled wordlessly.
Hans curled his lips and said softly, "I really don't know what Hannah sees in him. Look at how bad he is at talking—all he can do is eat. He can't even make Hannah laugh. The thought of this guy marry my sister is really worrying."
Li Du said, "If his mouth was as sharp as ours, then wouldn't you be even more worried? Because then you would suspect that he used some fancy words to fool Hannah."
Hans thought again and said, "True, but I really don't understand what's so good about this foolish Stephen. Why would Hannah like such a thick-headed man?"
"I know some big-shots who aren't thick-headed. How about I introduce them to Hannah?" Li Du asked.
Hans hastily stopped him, "Introduce them to Satan instead. I'd rather Hannah go with Stephen. Although this guy is thick-headed, at least he's honest and kind—Hannah would be happier if she married him."
Li Du just stared at him.

"Stephen doesn't forget to read those books and don't tell anyone about it." his dad said to him as he nodded. Then out of nowhere, his dad sent a mental attack towards him but couldn't breach his defenses. Smiling his father said "Good Stephen but don't forget to practice every night." he said seeing him off

"Bye, mom bye dad," Stephen yelled running towards the train to get a good seat. 

As Stephen got on the train he began to search for empty compartments. After twenty minutes of searching, he finally found one at the very back of the first year portion of the train. Sitting down Stephen decided to read his first-year books as he didn't want anyone to know about his family's secrets so he sat there and read his books with Gaia.

After about ten minutes of reading, Stephen started to get bored, and just when he was about to fall asleep he heard his compartment door open. Looking over he saw a girl with bushy brown hair, a short figure, a button nose, and rather large front teeth. "Sorry I didn't know anyone was sitting here," she said as she turned around to leave.

"No it's fine you can take a seat where ever you like," Stephen said encaustic to have another person there to ease the boredom. As she sat down across from Stephen he wondered how should he start the conversation, he wasn't very social because his parents were wizards and he wasn't allowed to have muggle friends over as magic would be hard to hide for them.

"Hi my name Stephen Addams what's yours," he said sticking out his hand to the girl. "Hermione Granger,"  she said back to him.

"Well Hermione I hope we get along," he said as she just nodded to him as Gaia started to wake up and stretch on Stephens lap Hermione's eyes had a small distinct glow to them, seeing this Stephen smiled at Hermione. "Want to pet her." he asked Hermione to which she nodded furiously. Handing Gaia over to Hermione Stephen begins to think about Hogwarts and all of the fun that could be had there, after a while he decided to dive back into his books.

The out of nowhere, someone slammed the compartment door open, causing Gaia to jump in fright and Stephen to drop his book. The boy in question was a chubby boy with blond hair and a short figure. "Have you seen a toad by any chance?" the boy asked them "No we haven't do you need any help finding it?" Stephen said to him "Umm If you don't mind that would be great." the boy said "Great we will help you right Hermione." he said as she shook her head "Well then it's settled umm.." "Its Neville, Neville Longbottom." "Ok, Nevill let's go find your toad."

As the searched high and low for the missing toad Stephen begin to lose hope about finding the thing and decided to check one last compartment. 

"Have any of you seen a toad by any chance?" he asked the people in the compartment. Inside there was a skinny boy with grey eyes with sleek white hair. Two boys who looked to be ogres in human skin and a girl with a short nose and messy black hair and fair skin.

"No, and even if we did why should we tell you." the blonde boy said. Deciding the conversation wasn't worth it Stephen decided to go back to his compartment and tell Neville it was a lost cause on the toad. 

When he returned and changed his clothes because no one was there yet. In the middle of changing his compartment door opened and standing there was Hermione looked struck upon his gaze. Uncomfortable Stephen's hair started to change to a bright red, much to the surprise of Hermione. "You're a metamorphmagus." she said stuck at his appearance "Um Hermione would you mind waiting until I change to have this conversation." Stephen said looking at her as she realized what was going on and promptly went out of the cart with a red face.

"Well now things are going to be awkward." Stephen said to himself as she left. After he changed he saw Hermione waiting outside of the door.

"Why didn't you tell me you were a metamorphmagus?" was the first thing she asked him. Confused but happy she put the little incident behind her. 

"Well it never really came up." Stephen said looking at her. "That's so crazy it's a rare talent you know not many people have the ability to do it and from the looks of it your ability to control it some extent how did you learn." she asked Stephen all in one breath.

Just as Stephen was about to answer Neville came in said he had to change. So they waited outside for him to change and when he was done they had finally arrived at Hogwarts castle, they left their stuff in the compartments and then went outside.

"First year's follow me." Said a giant man with a heavy accent. As they followed the man to the boats. "Has anyone lost their toad." the man said holding one up. "Trevor!" Neville screaming running to get him from the man 

As they walked around the corner to Hogwarts castle Stephen only had one thought beautiful.

This is my first time writing so it won't be good.

Will be a harem as stated in the tags but for the sake of me not writing too much romance and because it won't make sense otherwise the harem won't massive. There will be copy-paste scenes from the book here and there in the story though. Lastly, this is a multiverse story and not solely based on Harry potter

It was morning- the first day of Hogwarts, Noah woke up around 7:30 right on time for breakfast, he got up and did his daily routines- finishing up he went towards the great hall. 

' hey look, look '

' oh my god !! I am going school with prince charming of Taylor family !! ' 

He didn't mind the whispering as he was used to it, although his lips did twitch hearing the angel comment.* Sighing* he went to ravenclaw table and started eating his breakfast- which was quite a lot, understandable because of his physique; and he eat's so elegantly that no one ever comments on how much he has. 

For First day he only had one class- a 2 hour session of transfiguration with slytherins. Morning being off for exploring the grounds and get familiar with it.

As he was having his breakfast first-year ravenclaw kept glancing towards, to be fair whole hall was. So he did what a normal thing to do- he started socializing, he can't be a loner for rest of his life can he? He came to know quite a lot of them- Stephen cornfoot : had black hair, dark-brown eye's and fair skin. Had good looks and easy going personality, someone he can see getting along with. 

Next was oliver rivers: chocolate brown hair, with hazel eye's, fair skin; total sirius black vibes. A playboy personality even when he is just eleven year old. Then was Anthony Goldstein: blonde hair, blue eye's , little tan. Also good looking, very friendly, good-natured. 

he also talk to other but they were taken by his looks, so the conversations didn't go smooth with them specially with the girls, so kept with- Stephen, oliver and Anthony. In the end three of them got close and got to know each other well- both Stephen and oliver were roommates and Anthony shared his with Michael corner, also to easy to talk too but not that much.

Four of them decide to go exploring and to know which each class was, true to their ravenclaw nature. As stated in the book there were hundred and forty-two staircases; wide, sweeping, narrow, rickey ones- very frustrating yet enjoyable. The tour was like going through a maze or puzzle house- interesting yet annoying. People in the Portraits kept following them by going though each other's paintings- not sure why though.

Ghosts for some reason showed too much respect- they probably could feel my raw energy. Peeves the poltergeist also turn and kept his distance from me- good thing as I don't have to deal with him; my new group of friends were shocked to see that, and swear to bring me to deal with him- if he gave them trouble. 

Then there was filch and his cat Mrs. Norries- who always rub's her head around my legs as I pass, making filch jealous?. Although the cat was not so forgiving towards the other students- all of them hated her, even Anthony who loves animals. 

All in all, it was a nice tour- four of them went back to great hall for lunch, to rest as well as to eat. On other hand Noah was just hungry not tried- if his friends heard him say he was not tried they probably try to hurt him; because they were dead tried going through whole castle- if they didn't have their transfiguration class this afternoon then they will be found sleeping in their rooms.

Professor McGonagall's personality according to books was- someone not to cross. Strict and clever, first lesson was same as books turning match into needle- there was one box each for every one there; tho. They were only task to change one.

After taking some notes on the theory, they were given the signal to start the practice, so far in the class no one was able to do it only my group and few others were showing the difference to the match; that surprised the professor as it was not often this many showed the result; in my case the professor was about to faint- as mine were perfect with each having their unique design and material. I earned 30 points right off the bat- well moving on the class ended on the happy note. 

We all went to our rooms, to rest and promised to meet at dinner. Well I wanted to practice my magic- but they don't need to know that.

Very unapologetic for not addressing you as 'dear', because I can't bring myself to affectionately address the woman who ruined my daughter's and my life. While I am writing this letter to you, I ponder whether I'd send this to you. Never did I think of blaming you or to look up for you to hold you responsible for my broken marriage with Stephen. It wasn't your fault that you fell in love with him. I don't even know whether he told you about me and his unborn child when you both were dating. (Yes. Stephen is a father to a nine year old girl.) Once a cheater, forever a cheater. He might be having an affair with plenty of women that time, who knows?

I was as far as the 7th month when one day, accidentally mine and Stephen's mobile phones got exchanged. I had just visited my gynaecologist who told me my baby was healthy. I had a hunch for a long time that Stephen had an affair and your message confirmed it. It's so amazing that one harmless emoticon could shatter someone's life and family forever. 
I had a relationship for 2 years with Stephen after which I agreed to his marriage proposal. After 1 year of our marriage, on our wedding anniversary, I found out that I was one month pregnant. I was the happiest. Though I was unprepared, I was happy with this feeling of having a life in me.  I wanted to keep the baby and I decided to keep it. Stephen was very disappointed then and there. He tried to coax me enough to abort the baby. He even forced me to abort my baby. 
Heartless right? Too bad for him, as I am financially independent. I freelance as a content editor, content writer and also write books. I survive by my pen and I will always be independent financially. I left Stephen's place and went to my apartment. Stephen started to look out for me everyday apologising for all the things he said and did. Seeing his guilt-tripped face, I gave in and I started to stay with him again. (Only for the sake of my unborn child). I wanted my baby to have a father as she grows. I didn't want my baby to be sad over anything. Love? After his heartless act of forcing me to abort my baby I could never bring myself to love him again. 
I fell out of love but decided to wait back only for my baby. Days passed by and the arguments between us increased. Stephen even left the house for a few days and never came home. I tried to contact him but he never answered my calls or my messages. It was a highly toxic relationship but I had no other option. I would give my all only for my baby. My baby means the world to me and I would face everything that happens. I visited for health check-ups by myself. I was three months far when the doctor told me that the fetus was unstable and there was a high risk of losing the baby. No one can understand how I felt that time. I felt my world shattering. Gods against me. Everything crashing down. Only darkness in my world with no ray of sunlight. 
Unknown to me, Stephen's business wasn't doing well that time. He started to come home regularly and put up an act of reflecting on his mistakes. Pregnancy makes a woman emotional and so she trusts rather easily. Trust is broken by the ones who are trusted. I accepted him and everything was fine on the surface. Stephen spent a lot of time at home and very naively I thought it was for me and for the baby. But I was wrong. His business was on the verge of collapsing and he had no guts to face the employees, his business partners or anyone. He wanted to live off me and save each and every penny he could. I invested and earned pretty well in the share-market. (and spending time with me he understood more about investments and finances.) He tried and earned money by investing in it. In a few months his business came out of the crisis. And lo! The arguments, the fights the ignore-game started off (again). I was 7 months far when I saw your text on his mobile phone. 


That very day, I decided not to forgive this person ever again. Revenge was an emotion I decided to suppress for the sake of my child. I filed for a divorce and registered a complaint in the police station. In my ninth month of pregnancy 2 days before giving birth to my baby I got divorced. My child was born fatherless. It is acceptable for me that my baby would have no father than let her see the quarrels at home and lose faith in love, trust, understanding, adjustments and all the emotions.


Time passed by and my daughter is now nine. She's beautiful, mature, loving and understanding. She was very bothered about the fact that she has no father. But I can't tell her what sort of a man her father is. I told her father was a kind man but he was busy at work and so he can't make time to come home. (This was the biggest mistake I made. Dear readers,
First few chapters cover up the letter Annelies (our FL) has written to Dina which changes Dina's life. After a few chapters you will see Annelies fight for her daughter and her rights.

I was as far as the 7th month when one day, accidentally mine and Stephen’s mobile phones got exchanged. He put a password on his mobile but forgot about the notifications and then I saw a text from you. “Let’s meet over a coffee??” (along with a winking emoticon). I had just visited my gynaecologist who told me my baby was healthy. I had a hunch for a long time that Stephen had an affair and your message confirmed it. It’s so amazing that one harmless emoticon could shatter someone’s life and family forever.

I was so caught up with all the surprise gifts Batman had thrown on us and the awaited shopping trip that I didn't even notice the three men that were tailing us from a distance.

The book store has a very cozy atmosphere, armchairs and piles of pillows are scattered around the shop and rows and rows of bookshelves line the walls and extend into the rest of the shop. In the back of the shop, I see a kid's corner with stuffed toys and games. It seems like a nice enough atmosphere, it kinda feels like a place you're very likely to lose track of time in.

We walk in and Stephen only spares me one glance before heading off in the direction of the section labeled coding and computers. Figures.

I wander around the shop, stopping every once in a while when a book catches my eye. By the time I've made a full circle of the shop I only have one book in hand that I want to buy compared to the two dozen I looked at while wandering around. It's a book called Long Past Dawn by someone called Charlie Jublood, it's about a girl who loses everything she has but can start over and try again.

I just grabbed it because the title looked interesting but when I saw the blurb I thought I would check out how well this Charlie Jublood can show the emotions you have when that happens. Since at this point I'm pretty much a pro at the subject.

I go over to where Stephen is, he has at least three books on coding. Strangely I'm not very surprised, then again this is Stephen we're talking about.

"Hey, done looking yet?" I ask, tilting my head a little to read some of the book titles on the shelf.

Stephen jumps a little like he didn't expect me to be behind him, "Ah! Y-yeah I am."

I nod and we walk over to the cashier together. After we're done paying for everything we walk out of the shop. Now only to decide where to go next.

"So where do you want to go next?" Somehow Stephen and I manage to say it in sync before breaking out in laughter after we realized what we did.

"You first," I say, trying to stop laughing. He laughs too before looking around and finally pointing Wallgreens, I nod again and we walk over and into the store. And just like at the bookshop we split up at the entrance, I don't need anything from Wallgreens but I can at least look around.

I aimlessly walk around the shop for a couple of minutes until I stop in front of the makeup section. I've never been a big fan of makeup and all that, mom never let me try any, but maybe I should try some.

I pick up a red lipstick that I kinda like, it's halfway between the peach color my lips are and a cherry red. I don't bother looking at the price or the color name I just take it and keep looking. I don't see any more makeup that I would like to try so I just move on to see if Stephen's found whatever he needs so we can get going.

I find Stephen down one of the aisles and sneak up on him, when I'm just behind him I lean forward and whisper in his ear, "Boo."

Stephen gives a small yelp and jumps before turning around to see me laughing hysterically behind him, "Aw man, that was priceless!"

Stephen's ears turn red as he pretends to be mad at me, he can be really cute sometimes. "Ready to go yet?"

Stephen glances behind him at a glasses case before turning back to me and nodding, "Let's go."

He heads down the aisle ahead of me but I stay back to look at the case he was looking at, it's a leather glasses case. It looks normal but the way that Stephen looked at it was as if it was the only one in the world.

I pick it up and see that it's only eight dollars, I don't know if that's expensive for a glasses case but I think I'll give him it as a surprise present.

I walk over to the cashier and see that Stephen's already finished buying his stuff. I hand my lipstick and the glasses case over to the cashier, a woman probably in her early twenties.

Once she's done scanning the items and putting them in a plastic bag she leans over the counter to whisper something to me, "The glasses case is a good idea for your boyfriend, I saw him looking at it for about ten minutes on the tape."

I blush slightly when she calls him my boyfriend. I hand her two tens and she hands me the bag with a wink, I turn around and walk out of the store after Stephen.

He must have seen my red face because he turns and asks me with a troubled face, "Are you ok? Your face is red."

I just nod, "Y-yeah I'm fine... L-let's just move on..."

Stephen nods but I can tell he's still worried about me. "Alright then."

This time we just walk around for a bit, until a jewelry shop window catches my eye. Well, not so much the shop as a choker in the shop. I stop walking so I can get a better look at it.

It's a choker made of copper wire that has been shaped into a rose stem with small crystals for the thorns and what looks like diamonds for the flower buds. It's so beautiful.

I touch my neck imagining the spot it where it would rest on my neck. Stephen comes over to see what I'm looking at, he follows my eyes to see the choker sitting in the display. "Want to take a closer look?"

I absentmindedly nod because I'm still in my own world and don't realize what's happening until he's dragged me into the shop, he turns to one of the shop attendants, "Hello, can we see that copper choker you have in your store window?"

The shopkeeper nods and smiles before going behind the desk. She comes back a minute later with a black velvet case, she opens it and inside of it is the choker. It's just as beautiful up close.

The shop attendant helps me put it on and once it's one both she and Stephen have nothing but high praise for how it looks on me.

In the corner of my eye, I see the price tag on the box $150.99. Damn. As nice as it is I really don't need anything so expensive... I take the choker off and put it back in the black box.

Stephen must have realized my dislike for the price, "How about I get it as a thank you gift for coming with me today?"

I'm about to say no but Stephen is already one step ahead of me, he's already at the counter with the same shopkeeper paying for the choker. She hands him a gift bag with the box inside after he's done paying, Stephen turns to leave and I'm about to meekly follow him thinking about the 150 we just spent when the shopkeeper stops me, "Your boyfriend is so nice to get that for you. I didn't tell him this but that line is very popular with couples right now."

Here it is again, do we really look that much like a couple? I nod and blush a little before heading out of the store. Stephen is standing outside the shop waiting for me, the lights from the mall make his silky hair shine. Maybe...

Wait, what the hell am I thinking? I'm not about to admit that this kinda does feel like a date. We're just friends... Just friends.

I'm really sorry to do this to you guys since you have been so awesome in supporting me while writing this not only in the competition but as I continue it but I yet again need to change my update schedule. Due to family matters that I don't really want to go into but need my 110% attention, I'm only going to upload a chapter every two days until I figure things out. I'm really sorry guys, trust me when I say I really wouldn't be doing this if it wasn't the only option.

So I'm sorry but only one chapter every two days until I can sort things in my personal life out. But I still promise that I will be continuing on with this project so please still be as supportive as you have been up until now. 

It may take a bit of time but I do plan to eventually get back to my one a day schedule so please keep reading a supporting Dawn (and me lol)!

"We sell the best saplings while the other shops have even faultier goods."
The merchant quickly said, fearing the deal might be canceled, but Sesar didn't say anything. He, instead, spent a long time in his own world and then abruptly started speaking.
"I'll need wild roses."
"You are pretty and strong enough but using only vine roses will make it lack stability. I need the strength of wild roses. Maybe it would be better to use damask roses and make roses that are pretty and smell good."
The merchant wondered what he should say to that, but soon he realized Sesar wasn't talking to him. He was talking to the saplings.
"Hmm. Yes, yes. That would be better."
Sesar nodded. The merchant wondered if he should leave him alone, but then Sesar turned to him.
"Can you also get various damask roses?"
"What? Yes."
The merchant instinctively nodded and Sesar rubbed his hands with satisfaction.
"And can you get them quickly? I want to make at least one product before May."
"Yes, it's possible," the merchant quickly made some calculations and replied. 
Even the impossible would become possible in front of money. It also appeared Sesar wasn't going to cancel the deal.
"Okay, then thank you."
"Um, about the payment…"
"Bring this to the butler of the Claymore Mansion over there, and he will immediately take care of it."
Sesar handed him a list of the saplings he decided to buy. It was very accurate. He had appeared to be only looking at the pots, so when did he check all that? He looked clumsy but was in fact thorough. The merchant blinked.
As soon as he took the list, Sesar left while throwing away his gloves. Then, he walked to his hut without saying anything. The merchant sighed at that weird behavior. He really didn't know how to handle him, but he was still an important client. The merchant resisted the urge to say something to him and headed to the mansion.

"Where did I put that book on wild roses?"
The hut was in a mess. Sesar went through huge piles of books and finally managed to find a red book. It had been written by a scholar he greatly looked up to. He took out a leather bag and put in it the huge book, some clothes, a shovel, linen for wrapping roots, and rations for a few days. He could get the rest through the merchant, but not wild roses. He wore his coat and was about to leave when he was reminded of something.
"Oh, fertilizer! Hey, I have to order fertilizer!"
He had been concentrating on the saplings and forgot to order fertilizer. He quickly ran out, but the merchant was long gone. Sesar was about to head to the mansion himself when he spotted a man. The man was studying the new saplings and his back looked quite familiar.
"Sir Stephen?"
"Lord Sesar, it's been a long time."
It was Stephen, the duke's guard.
"Is the duke coming here?"
"Oh, no."
Sesar asked with hope, but the knight's answer was cold, so the man was a little disappointed. However, at the same time, he found it odd for Stephen to be here as he always put the duke's safety as his top priority.
"Then what has brought you here?"
"I just came to look around."
That voice was very tiny, but Sesar immediately brightened up at hearing that.
"Do you like flowers?"
"That's…"
Stephen was about to say something, but he shut his mouth again. Sesar thought he was being shy. A knight and flowers, that was an unusual combination.
"None of the saplings have bloomed as it isn't the season yet, but after the greenhouse is finished, we will be able to see flowers bloom."
Sesar started to explain. He felt sorry for Stephen who had come to see flowers only to find none. Stephen heard his explanation about the saplings and the flowers that would bloom without even frowning a bit.
"But how will these flowers be used?"
Sesar excitedly replied, "They were ingredients for creating even prettier flowers."
"… and what are those roses for?"
Sesar couldn't understand the question. He blinked. Flowers are supposed to be pretty. They were not for anything, but the knight seemed quite agitated.
"The duchess has decided to use them to decorate the garden."
"The garden… is that the only purpose? Don't those flowers, like, have a special poison or can be used to run machines?"
"Oh, flowers are supposed to be pretty. Why do they need another purpose?"
Stephen didn't buy it and frowned. Sesar, however, was starting to get offended. Thinking such impure thoughts at seeing his lovely flowers? That was an insult.
"You are right."
Sesar was a very simple man and immediately felt better at hearing the knight agreeing with him. Then, he realized Stephen could be of help to him.
"Sir Stephen, I am about to go on a trip to find wild roses. Could you give me some tips for camping?"
"… camping?"
Stephen's eyebrows twitched and realized he made a mistake. He thought about saying he was busy and running away, but it looked like it would only complicate matters even more.
He gave up and started to walk to find a good spot before explaining.
"Let me explain."
"There isn't even a single bad person among those who like flowers."
Stephen stopped. He couldn't understand how the botanist had reached that conclusion. He even wanted to grab him by the collar and ask him why he thought so. He didn't like flowers. More accurately, he didn't care about them at all. However, he couldn't tell that to Sesar. Then he would find it weird for him to be here. He couldn't let that happen.
"Surroundings is the most important in camping. If the land is wet, avoid it as much as possible. And, when you can't, choose somewhere with grass. Here, this spot is good."
Then, Stephen showed him how to make a simple shelter. Sesar soon followed his instruction and tried it himself. He worked very well for an old man.
"But why are you doing this much?"
"The duchess has believed in me and has invested in my work, so I cannot let her down."
"Then investing in you and your work has been her decision entirely?"
"Yes. The duke didn't say much to it once she made that decision. She has a sense of beauty others don't have. The moment she looked at my sketches, she realized they were going to be very beautiful flowers. You must understand as you love flowers."
"Haha."
Stephen just tried asking and, to his surprise, Sesar didn't try to hide anything. Even if he didn't like that he turned from a knight who liked flower to a knight who loved flowers, that was an unexpected gain.
"I didn't know she had such a great sense of beauty."
"Oh yes. She is different from the others."
"How different?"
Stephen pretended to agree and put in a question. That method makes the other person think of it as meaningless gossip, spill out information, and forget all about it.
"Her behavior and other things, and she knows a lot. She must have studied a lot."
However, the duchess hadn't studied that much even if she had been educated a little at home like most of the other noblewomen.
"Oh, she hasn't studied that much."
"Well, it can't be. Weird. She accurately read the name of a flower written in ancient Babarian."
"Ancient Babarian?"
Sesar didn't see the knight's eyes shine dangerously. Even if he had seen it, he wouldn't have noticed it. He cared more about flowers than people. To him, a change of expression was too complicated.
"Her vocabulary is a little strange as well."
"Her vocabulary?"
Rubica spoke like any other normal people in Seritos. Stephen couldn't understand, so he had to ask. Sesar then smiled proudly. His observations were worse than a toddler's in some areas, but in other area's he was like the genius of the century.
"Others wouldn't be able to see it. Only someone who has met various people at the Academy and has learned much like me can notice it."
"Hmm…"
"She called friendship 'philia'. That's a word the priests of Hue use."
"Oh."
To Stephen's surprise, that conversation turned out to be quite profitable. He decided there was a further need to find out more about Rubica.
"But why are you asking that?"
"I just wanted your opinion. Oh, and actually it is safer to make a shelter on trees instead of making it on the ground. Let me show you."
Stephen quickly changed the topic. Thankfully, Sesar's suspicion soon vanished. He was an extraordinary man who cared only about flowers and soon forgot other things. At first, he had run out shouting he had to order fertilizer and, as soon as he saw Stephen, he asked him to teach him how to camp. The interest Stephen has shown in the duchess was quickly erased from his memory.
Roses were much important to him. He just left Rubica a letter saying he was going to leave for a few weeks to find wild roses he needed for his work.
