follow a mad scientist who accidentally made a system... 
and what does F.R.E.D. actually stand for? never trust an acronym.

The sudden increase in the bidding price by 1,000 dollars put Rick on his guard.

He had wanted to continue bidding to push up the price. He took a glance at the cardboard boxes and he observed the duo’s expressions. He shook his head slowly, which meant he has decided to back out of the bidding for the unit.

However, another sinister thought came to his mind.

"I heard that there were some heavyweight bikes in a unit for this auction," Rick said loudly. "Do you think they could be contained in those boxes?" 

The treasure hunters considered his words, but nobody came forward to bid.

Someone asked, "Do you have any insider news? Share it, Dog Ears, what’s inside this unit?"

Rick was someone who valued his integrity and reputation. It was hard for him to promise anything, as he was not 100 percent sure if it were true. 

He replied, "I am unable to guarantee anything. But, if there is only one unit that might contain heavyweight bikes, it would be this unit. Just look carefully at the edges of these boxes—some of them have oil stains on them…"

"New motorbikes would not have oil stains on them. Do you know if the news referred to old motorbikes or new motorbikes?"

"Should we gamble? What if there are really motorbikes in there?"

"Don’t be silly pal; don’t place your hopes in Dog Ears. If he knew the motorbikes were in there, would he really let it go for 4,000 dollars?"

With his hands on his waist, Hans looked impatient. "Anyone want to bid? Any bid will do. Even if you only bid a dollar more, I can let you have the unit."

Many treasure hunters seemed to want to bid. Some appeared to be absorbed in their thoughts, weighing their options, but still, no one placed a bid.

With that, Rick’s evil attempt ended in failure. Obviously, many treasure hunters knew Rick very well. If there were valuable heavyweight motorbikes in the unit, 4,000 dollars would not daunt him.

And so, Hans and Li Du got the unit at 4,000 dollars.

The father and son team had a sly smile again. Li Du reckoned that the Ricks knew what was inside the unit. 

The smile might be that they were expecting to put Hans and Li down, as the unit only contained old parts that were not worth much.

Anyway, Li was optimistic about the unit; no matter what, it was not a wasted trip.

The last unit contained mostly old, broken electrical appliances and furniture. Li was not interested in such a unit; it went to Turis.

Now that the auction was complete, they went to pay and then were making their way to their unit.

Lil’ Rick came over to them and said, "There’s a learning opportunity for you both; want to come and check it out?"

Li Du glanced at him sideways. "Learn what? Learn about DNA gene mutations or learn about how to raise other people’s kids?"

Lil’ Rick was provoked by Li Du’s words. "Okay I admit: you have a way with words. But treasure hunters require good eyes and ears, not a mouth, Chinaman. You need to be taught a lesson!"

"Then you better be fast, dude. Godzilla’s not here yet."

Lil’ Rick could not pluck up enough courage to raise his fist at Li Du; he had heard stories about Li from the other treasure hunters that Li’s attacks were super-fast, and no one had managed to hurt him so far.

The majority of the treasure hunters were curious about what those cardboard boxes had inside them. So they stayed behind to watch. 

They gathered at the entrance of the unit while Godzilla worked on gathering the trash items to free up some space.

Hans and Li Du opened up the boxes and the various motorcycle parts were revealed.

The Ricks were here as well. "Wow, such good luck, you’ve got the heavyweight bikes!" Lil’ Rick said in a condescending tone.

At first, the treasure hunters were full of envy. But when they looked closely enough, their facial expressions became more passive. 

"These are all old parts. Li, Big Fox, these things aren’t worth much," someone said.

Li Du held up an exhaust pipe and said, "But we could still earn some cash, right? So many motorbike parts at only 4,000 dollars is not that bad of a deal to me."

"Yeah, you could earn a good two to three thousand dollars," Rick laughed sarcastically. "Don’t forget: we are treasure hunters, not cleaners."

"Come on fellow treasure hunters—follow me, let me show you the true charm of storage auctions!"

The crowd of treasure hunters knew Rick must have gotten something good when he said that. They proceeded to make their way to unit 42, and gathered at the entrance. Rick’s men were packing up the unit as well.

Rick spoke, "As we all know, being a treasure hunter not only requires you to have a good eye for detail, but also good ears. You need good ears to listen to important information.

"For this auction, I heard there was a storage unit which had belonged to an HCV patient. He was a wealthy man. Last year, he bought medicine which could rid him of his HCV—"

Immediately, a shout came from the crowd: "Sofosbuvir! Sofosbuvir from Gilead Sciences, right?!" 

HCV was the acronym for the Hepatitis C virus. It was a viral infection that affected the liver.

Before the availability of Sofosbuvir, Hepatitis C treatments involved a six to twelve-month treatment that provided recovery rates of 70 percent or less, and was associated with severe side effects including anemia, depression, severe rashes, nausea, diarrhea, and fatigue.

Sofosbuvir was discovered in 2007. It was on the World Health Organization's list of Essential Medicines, the most effective and safe medicines needed in a health system.

It worked by blocking the Hepatitis C NS5B polymerase. Clinical trials had proven that Sofosbuvir had a recovery rate of over 90 percent (depending on the severity of the Hepatitis C virus).

However, a powerful medicine like this cost a lot as well. The price of Sofosbuvir could easily cost 84,000 dollars for a course of treatment in the United States. 

The cost of one such pill was 1,000 dollars, and its revenue hit 10.3 billion dollars within a year of its launch.

So when Rick mentioned a "wealthy" man and a "medicine that could rid him of HCV," everyone had guessed the identity of the medicine, for its name was too notable!

Rick seemed satisfied as the treasure hunters gave him envious looks. He nodded slowly and had a proud smile on his face. "That’s correct! Everyone, it is Sofosbuvir!"

"This unit has Sofosbuvir?"

"How many of them?"

Lil’ Rick quickly answered, "According to what my dad has heard, this unit has a complete course of treatment of Sofosbuvir. Not only that, there’s interferon and ribavirin as well."

Sofosbuvir is often prescribed together with ribavirin or other medicine. The entire course of treatment could go up to an estimated figure of 94,500 dollars.

The treasure hunters had mixed expressions: some were envious, some regretful and some were jealous.

Hans spat out, "F*ck, so that’s the reason why we were invited for a spin with the ICE officers!"

Rick’s men found the oak cabinet. After they unlocked the drawer and saw the medical records, they called out for Rick.
"Boss, over here, the goods are here!"

Rick was elated, he took out the medical records and the package with clear golden lettering—Sofosbuvir!



They love gold, and they love silver. Even more so, they love gems that dazzle, like stars across the skies. 
Firearms, jewelleries, and precious metals; A collector’s world will not be complete without antiques.  
Storage auctions, old goods trade, re-estate sales and gold-digging. But the truth is, if one wants to make money, then the supreme way is through searching for the legendary treasures. 
Holding the fort, there’s an ocelot, a wolf, and an Andes condor. At the side, there’s a loyal hound, an irascible ape, and an African honey badger. Who said that you can only rely on humans when treasure hunting?! 

The aurora borealis was dancing in the night sky. There were floating rock with long vines hanging from them high in the sky. Things that looked like pterodactyls and thinks that looked like dragons were flying in the sky. Ominous roars could be heard in the distance.
The tree was massive with some that were blue and some even odd-looking bulbous black trees. Mushrooms glowed as well as the occasional critter. Even some vines that grew up the trees gave a beautiful glow.
Radley was gobsmacked, "Where the hell am I?"
A female voice sounded off, "This is called the continent of Arcana."
He freaked out and quickly stood up. He looked around to find the source of the voice but could find nothing, "Who are you?! Where are you?! Show yourself!"
"My name is DIFF. The acronym stands for: Death is for fools."
"Where are you!?"
"I am an intelligence that uses the brain as its main processor. I am not a disease or parasite. I am like a second soul. I live within your head"
"Why? How? I should be dead!"
"For all intent and propose you did die, but you were reincarnated in this world to become a champion."
"I have no intention of becoming a champion. Nobody in their right mind does, and besides, who chose me."
"Statement unclear. You chose yourself?"
"What? Why would I choose myself? Are you going to tell me God actually exists?"
"Define the parameters of a god."
"You know, an almighty being that has the ability to bring people back from the dead? And for some reason have no wounds and be teleported to another plane of existence?"
"Processing…by that standard the island brought you here."
"Are you telling me this island is God?"
"No. The island is an incorporeal phenomenon. It just is."
"The acronym sucks by the way."
"This system will allow you the best possible chance of survival. Do you wish to enable heads up display?"
"Oh for fuck sakes, this is starting to sound more like a game. I never was good at games."
"This is based on your mind's best possible interpretation of the system. Do you wish to enable the heads up display?"
"Heard you the first time. Yeah, sure."
A display with a red bar and a blue bar showed to the top of his head. At the bottom was a thin golden bar.
"What the golden bar for?"
"It is your invigoration count. It starts glowing when more of the bar starts to glow. Currently, you are at count: One. You have the equivalent strength and speed of a normal human being."
"Do everybody have…whatever you are?"
"Negative. There is only one of my kind."
"Okay, so why was I selected."
"You were selected because of noble sacrifice."
"Yeah…I died, remember?
"Inconclusive. You are here now. Death is for fools. Are you a fool?."
"…Maybe, ask Leanne about it. I would have probably married that girl."
All his memories came rushing back, and now his best friend was dead too all because of a so-called Rapture.
"So what is my end goal here?"
"Find the source."
"What's the source?"
"Nobody knows, but it has far-reaching complications. It is affecting other universes in the multiverse."
"What...What do you mean affect the multiverse?"
"It causes disruptions in them. Mass deaths follow as a result."
"You mean the Rapture!?"
"Yes, the common term used in your universe."
This sparked a fire in his soul, "Where the hell can I find this so-called source!?"
"Current location unknown. The people on this Continent that came from the multiverse has the same goal in mind."
"So, everyone is looking for it? But how do they know what they are looking for."
"A general feeling."
"That's rather vague. So, what can you do everything besides monitoring me?"
"I can give you an enhanced perception that will reveal quest locations and directions."
"The more I think about it the more this sounds like a game."
"If that is true then this would be considered a game of life and death. Death is quite common in this world."
"So what am I to do now?"

"Quest one: Make a weapon.
Requirements: Find Neodizamate in its natural form. It must be large enough to form an axe head.
Find a good piece of Moles Ligni Vitae commonly known as the life tree. It must be large enough to hold the Niodizamate axe head.
Radley was quiet as a mouse when his heads up display showed the parameters.
"How in god's name am I supposed to find these items!?"
"Highlighting the quickest route."
A holographic arrow popped up showing him the way. Radley was surprised by it. He followed the arrow to a rock protruding from the ground. The rock was being highlighted in an orange color as soon as he touched the rock the highlight disappeared, "Okay, that's cool."
He tried removing it but it was stuck in good. He grabbed a nearby rock and started digging around it to remove the rock. He wiggled it out with a bit of effort. The next step required him to get a piece of wood. Luckily his system highlighted a perfect piece jutting out of the face of the cliff he happened to be close by, but when he looked up he saw it was no cliff. It was a colossal tree that looked like a city could live in it. He looked up dumbfounded and could only stare with his mouth wide open.
He started crafting the crappy axe with some plant fiber he was able to rustle from some young saplings.
He used another rock to shape the head. Luckily for him, the system guided him to get the shape just right. After about an hour he was done with his axe. The Diff system chimed up, "Congratulations, first quest requirements met. Gain 10 Invo Points. Invo points stand at 10/7000 till level 2."
Wait!? That garnered him only 10 points!? What a rip off. This would take him an eternity to get to level two, "Isn't there a quicker way to level up?"
"Yes. Combat."
Of course, it was fighting. He got a feeling it wasn't going to be that straight forward.
"You wish to allocate you Diff Points."
"Diff Points?"
"You received one point for doing the quest and another for getting your first ever Diff point."
"Tell me more."

Radley was a boy desperately trying to look after his struggling mother and sister. He was willing to do some really uncouth things to help them. One day an event took place called the rapture that destroyed some of the human population, his mother and sister being one of them.

He lived primarily on the street and in the orphanage. He made a best friend called Allen, who too was a depressed kid. As one event led to another an unexpected accident caused Radley's death. Radley awoke in a world that made no sense. Follow Radley in this crazy fantastic new world with a system called DIFF (Death is for Fools). This system allowed him to invigorate himself to get stronger, but there are others like him in this world who can invigorate as well, but only he has DIFF system that allows him rise above all.

A tale about survival in an inhospitable environment, with death waiting around every corner, while dealing with his own inner demons.

When Tang Yue woke up once again, he realized that he had fainted for an unknown length of time. He attempted to move again and realized that he was being hugged—someone or something was hugging his helmet.
At that moment, Tang Yue realized that his position had changed. He had previously been slumped on the ground face down, but now, he was lying face up.
"You woke up?"
Tang Yue was taken aback as he immediately looked up. Through the Radiant Armor's visor, he saw a huge spherical head above him. It was looking down at him, and of course, it wasn't an alien, but the helmet of Tomcat's IVA suit.
Tomcat was looking down at him, having gotten Tang Yue to half lie on its legs while hugging the Radiant Armor's helmet. 
"Tomcat?" Tang Yue saw the cat face inside the IVA suit's glass visor as he exclaimed in surprise, "You aren't dead yet?"
"Dead your ass. If I had been another two hours, you would be the one dead, not me." Tomcat pointed at the Radiant Armor's wrist.
While lying on Tomcat's legs, he raised his left hand and wiped the dust off the wrist display.
The life support system's power had halved, and the Radiant Armor was giving off warning alerts. An orange-yellow exclamation mark was blinking.
The oxygen cylinder's pressure had also greatly decreased, left with less than 0.5 atm of oxygen. It was already close to the warning red line. The life support system's main oxygen cylinder could store 5 MPa of oxygen, a quantity enough to support Tang Yue to carry out his activities outside for eight hours.
Having been working all day, Tang Yue's oxygen cylinder was nearly depleted.
According to the design, the main oxygen cylinder in the Radiant Armor decreased to 0.4 atm, the life support system would no longer deliver oxygen normally. During such times, the Radiant Armor would automatically connect to a spare oxygen cylinder, which was only used for emergencies. It only had 1.2 kilograms of oxygen, and could only last forty minutes.
Tomcat was right. If it had come another hour later, the oxygen and power in the Radiant Armor would have been completely depleted. Tang Yue would have either frozen or suffocated to death.
Tang Yue prodded the display screen and exhaled.
"An EVA is an EVA. Not having power is a common plot point."
"Not having power is a common plot point?" Tomcat didn't understand the meaning of those words.
"I'm talking about this." Tang Yue pointed at his chest. "EVA system. Apart from it being the acronym for Extravehicular Activity, it's also the name of a gigantic humanoid robot[1]. That thing will go berserk once it runs out of power."
The official name of the Radiant Armor was an EVA system—Extravehicular Activity system. But just from its acronym, one would imagine it to be an extremely impressive secret weapon.
Tomcat helped him up as Tang Yue sat there. "How long have I been out for?"
"It's now twenty minutes past eleven at night. You have been unconscious for about an hour. You were sprawled face-down when I found you," Tomcat replied. "The wind speed is beginning to drop."
Although there was a drop in wind speed, Tang Yue couldn't tell the difference. It was still pitch-black everywhere, and the only thing he could see was Tomcat's face. This was only thanks to the illumination from the lights inside the helmet.
"The wind speed is now 38 meters per second," Tomcat said. "But why did you run out? Didn't I tell you to stay in Kunlun Station?"
"I waited more than an hour for you," Tang Yue replied. "You didn't return the entire time… Then, when I pulled the safety rope back, the other end was free. That's why I came out to look for you. But why weren't you attached to the rope? You released it?"
Tomcat nodded.
"The rope had become entangled with the accommodation ladder, preventing me from moving. I could only release it."
"But you didn't return for more than an hour," Tang Yue asked. "Why did you take so long? It took half an hour each trip?"
"I made trips back and forth more than once because I nearly got lost," Tomcat answered. "I missed Kunlun Station and walked backward about a dozen meters before realizing that something wasn't right. By the time I turned back and found Kunlun Station, I found you had gone. That's how I followed the rope to you… Thankfully, you tied a safety rope to yourself; otherwise, there's no way I could have found you."
Tang Yue heaved a sigh of relief.
Tomcat was fine.
It had all been a scare. In retrospect, the greatest danger in the last trip that sent the supplies to the Eagle wasn't what Tomcat faced, but Tang Yue… Tang Yue had fainted in the sandstorm, and the Radiant Armor's life support system had nearly drained its power. If Tomcat hadn't found him, Tang Yue would have frozen to death while unconscious.
In a sense, he had unknowingly rubbed shoulders with Death and had made a trip to the underworld and back—all thanks to Tomcat.
The Radiant Armor had begun producing warning messages. Tang Yue glanced at the display, and the main oxygen cylinder's pressure had already gone under the red light. The backup gas cylinder connected with the Radiant Armor.
The internal pressure of the EVA suit was typically maintained at 40 kPa, which was 0.4 atm. This pressure was mainly provided by the oxygen cylinder, and once the backup cylinder was used, the forty minutes started counting down.
"Let's go. We have to return. We only have forty minutes of oxygen left."
Tomcat pulled Tang Yue and arduously crawled back with the help of the safety rope.
Tomcat crawled ahead as Tang Yue followed in tow. They were connected to the same rope, resembling a trek up the Himalayas.
After more than an hour of unconsciousness, Tang Yue had regained some of his strength. "Have you delivered the last crate?"
"Yes," Tomcat replied. "All the supplies have been securely fastened inside the Eagle's cargo module. All of them are ready for the launch."
"Is there no need to check again?"
"I've already done what I could."
Tang Yue felt slightly relieved. He had finally finished the last step. This delivery spanning four hundred kilometers was already in boxes, and it was possibly the most difficult delivery in history… If it wasn't for the damn sandstorm, things wouldn't have been that troublesome. It was true that the weather was unpredictable.
"When do we launch?"
"There are six suitable launching windows tomorrow morning. I had originally set the launch to be half-past eight in the morning… But all the plans are useless now." Tomcat shook its head. "Based on the present situation, all the advanced planning was for nothing. We have to observe the wind speed, launching whenever it falls."
"Fifty meters per second?"
"That's a design limit," Tomcat said. "Of course, the lower the speed, the better. It's best if it's below thirty meters per second… There will be a much higher chance if it's below that threshold. If that happens, we might be able to reestablish communications with the United Space Station."
Tang Yue nodded.
"Let's hope we re-establish communications as soon as possible. That lass in the sky is probably crying in anxious terror."

Payload specialist, Tang Yue, who is a mechanical and electrical engineer by training, is left stranded on Mars when he receives news from his AI robot assistant, Tomcat, that Earth has exploded. He believes himself to be the last human in the Universe.
Turns out, he is only the last man in the Universe. Botanist, Mai Dong, had been left on the United Space Station (USS) orbiting Mars, to await Tang Yue's ascent to the USS before they make their journey back to Earth. But now, it's impossible.
Join the trio's quest for survival as they attempt to unravel the mystery of Earth's disappearance.

"Any sign of Ana anywhere?"
"Nope."
I shook my head bitterly at Redfield's question. I had sent my flock of Corvus out to scout ahead, but I had yet to find anything amiss. There was no sign of poison or withered plants – traces left by a poison mage passing by. I would think that I would at least find a few dessicated trees or a corpse of a monster that succumbed to venom, but…nothing.
It was entirely possible that Anastasia hadn't passed through this forest at all. Hell, it was very likely that Ana didn't come to the forest in the first place. In which case, where could she have gone? I knew for sure that she wouldn't stay in the city, but where else could she have gone?
"Viper reporting in. We found traces of poison in our sector. It's clear that the target has passed through here at least."
Viper was the call sign of one of the fire-teams that had undertaken this mission along with us. By the way, the call-sign for the fire team comprising of me and Redfield was Stars. A sneaky coincidence, given that Redfield merely took the name because it was the acronym for the special operations police team he used to be a part of before Feng Hai recruited him into the Silver Wolves.
Life could be funny that way sometimes.
"She's here!" Redfield looked a little more optimistic than before, and he clenched his fists excitedly. "You were right, Richard!"
"Yeah. I mean…where else could she have gone? So what do we do? Do we head over to Viper's sector?"
"No." The veteran mercenary shook his head. "We continue searching our area. Just because Viper found traces of Ana doesn't mean she's still in there. She might have passed through that area a while ago. Each fire team is to stick to their own assigned areas until we find more concrete signs that Ana is nearby."
"Roger that." That made sense. If all of us rushed toward a single sector, we might miss Anastasia entirely, passing by her as she made her way through one of the other areas within our search radius. He was also right that it was likely that she was no longer in that place. Anastasia probably wouldn't stay in one place for too long.
We proceeded through the forest, looking out for any signs of clues that might lead to Anastasia's whereabouts. Twigs crunched under our feet – there was little point trying to be overly stealthy. Even if we tried to navigate the treacherous terrain silently, the monster inhabitants had more than enough ways of sounding us out. Infrared vision, smell, mana sense, etc.
Speaking of which, we hadn't run into any monsters so far. I looked around the dense cluster of trees that we were traversing through, as if expecting some serpent monster to slither down one of those thick trunks. Every rustle of a branch, with slowly drifting leaves, put me on sharp alert, but I saw nothing. Neither did my Corvus.
Viper continued to report in sporadically, informing us of their progress. There were signs of Anastasia having passed through the area of the forest they were currently searching in, but they were not recent, and she evidently had gone long ago. Still, they were confident that we would be able to locate her eventually.
The other teams continued to silently sweep the forest, until one of the other teams reported in.
"Eagle here. Spotted some traces of poison. Very likely to be the target's spells. A couple of Blood Boars have died from venom, their carcasses are rotting here."
"Might want to burn it," his partner remarked over the com.
"Belay that order. We don't want anyone to know we are coming, especially the target. We also don't want to alarm the monsters and draw attention to us." Feng Hai's voice came from the command channel, as calm and decisive as ever.
"Roger that, Wolf."
"Stars to Eagle. How recent were those signs?"
"Um…relatively recent. A few hours old." It was the female partner who answered this time. "The target has most likely already moved on from here. But we'll continue sweeping the area. Maybe we'll find more clues."
"Thank you, Eagle."
"No problem."
Lowering his hand from his com bead, Redfield sighed heavily before glancing around. He shrugged helplessly.
"It might just be our bad luck that we're not finding any signs here. Still, let's not discount anything and continue searching."
"Affirmative," I replied. Redfield raised an eyebrow at that, but chose not to say anything. Instead, he continued foraging ahead, occasionally glancing at me to provide directions. Gazing out of the eyes of my multiple Corvus soaring over the forest, I shook my head.
Still nothing. It sucked, but at least the other teams found the clues we needed. It didn't matter who found Anastasia, as long as she was found. What, you think me being the protagonist would automatically lead to us being the ones who located her? Reality didn't conveniently develop like that. The odds of us being the ones to find Anastasia were literally one in eight (since there were pretty much eight fire-teams sweeping the area right now). If I was a betting man – and I wasn't, because I would always lose – I wouldn't bet on such low odds.
Funnily enough, what my Corvus found wasn't Anastasia but someone else.
"Wait," I told Redfield, holding up a fist to indicate that we should stop. Why did we bother with field gestures if I was going to speak anyway? Oh, for the readers' benefit. "I see someone."
"Ana?" Redfield eagerly asked. I shook my head.
"Doesn't look like it…" I paused for a moment, and then frowned. "Those black hoods and sneaky movements…they seem like they are from the Assassins Guild."
"What?! Are you sure?"
"Not really. They are people wearing hoods and black ninja costumes. I'm just making a guess. I don't think cosplayers will take the trouble of going into a monster-infested forest just to show off their costumes, so they are either Assassins or…ninjas or covert operatives. Except that covert operatives know better than to dress like that."
"You might be right. We had better get a closer look, to confirm their identity." Redfield gritted his teeth, and bade for me to lead the way. While I did so, he pressed a hand to the com bead at his ear. "Stars to everyone. Be warned…possible presence of the Assassins Guild. Going ahead to confirm their identity right now."
"Wolf to Stars. Roger that, but be careful. Be very careful. Try not to let them know that we're here as well, and avoid combat if possible."
"Roger that, Wolf. Will do our best."
"What are the Assassins doing here?" someone asked over the main channel, her voice a whisper.
"Do you think they are looking for Anastasia as well?" another person guessed, his tone tense and anxious. "I thought they were content to let her die."
"That's what they told me," Feng Hai growled. "I don't know what they're playing at, but it's also likely that those people may not be Assassins. Stars, confirm their identity if possible. But if they are Assassins, then they should most certainly be after Ana. I knew I couldn't trust those lying bastards!"

If you missed a step and fall while jumping from one tree to another, odds were that you would most likely break a bone or two. If you were lucky. If you weren't, you might hit your head and die almost instantly. I guess manga artists thought it was cool, or it perhaps was easier for animators to animate characters soaring through the landscape with minimal movement instead of trying to animate the deceptively simple act of walking – animating even a simple movement was a lot more complex than it seemed, and required drawing multiple frames, instead of merely sliding the character across a background when making them jump from one place to another.

"Game? This is real young man and I'm afraid you went into the grave of my people trying to spill the blood of someone else." Sebastian said, but it was obvious that it was the boss of the dungeon who was talking.

"What kind of game is this, this guy does not even remember that this is just a game?" Akatsuki said quietly to himself thinking that the person in front of him had gone completely crazy.

The first questions were still pretty normal:

There were several more questions and they got a little more detailed the further he got but after twenty or so questions the content suddenly got … strange.

Su Yan instantly stopped reading. By now, his whole face was red. Who would ask such questions when trying to set up a test for writing?!

And if he had answered yes everywhere then he probably would have gotten some additional questions to figure out if he had other areas he was bad at.
Su Yan had managed to explain to himself what all this was about. It seemed perfectly normal to him but he was in for a surprise.
He opened the web novel the Lovely Writing System had provided and started with chapter 1. He didn't even read the synopsis. After all, a story chosen by this awesome program that was supposed to help him become a better author should be a great work of fiction, no?
Thus, he started reading right off the bat and tried to take note of every possible pairing. After some chapters, he began to frown. This was somehow … strange? This was obviously a romance web novel but … Why did it seem like the main pairing were two men?
The poor Su Yan who had never even heard of bl novels before was suddenly confronted with something like this. He really couldn't understand. Thus, he just read further. Maybe there would be some great revelation that that supposed 'crown prince' was, in fact, a crown princess. Hadn't he heard of that somewhere? What did they call it? Gender bender or something like that? It seemed one of his co-workers had mentioned that once. He hadn't really paid attention, though. It just wasn't the kind of story he would like.

Frowning, he went back to the front page and had a look at the tags. There were some and most of them weren't anything he knew. What was that 'yaoi' and what did the acronym 'bl' mean?
Su Yan opened Baidu and typed that strange acronym in. Then, he got the second shock that night. He had clicked on the images and videos since he thought he might get it faster that way. Indeed he did. There were actually quite a few search results and all of them had one thing in common: They showed two men. And they were doing it with each other.
Su Yan forcefully closed the notebook. Somehow, he felt corrupted now.
