Today's 2020 July 22th 
I'm lying on sand in the desert. While looking at sun. and remembering what my mom use to tell when I'm kid "rays from sun will kill the germs and bacteria" Yeah now the sun try to kill me cuz I'm not better than a parasite. My throat got dried I need water but I can't able to move my self. I can't even able to move my finger. I'm hunger too. my body started to eat my own muscles to keep me alive. and the scavenger birds start flying above me on circle and they waiting for me to die and they can enjoy their meal. its been 2 days I'm here alone in the middle of desert. I get lost from my friends. in those 2 days I'm stilling waiting for them to rescue me but they didn't came.Exoerts say human die in 3 three days without water , so I have one more day to live and feel bad for my own pathetic life. if my friend didn't rescue me today then I'm become goner. I know why they even came to rescues me. a piece of shit like good for nothing hikikomori like me. I'm better to die in here like a stray dog. Now I'm thinking why the hell I'm cane here ? why? damn it why? it's better if I stayed in my house and locked my self in my room. I'm Starr to losing my consciousness. I can't see anything except Colour black.so that's feel like while dying. it's cold.

1 YEAR AGO BEFORE THIS INCIDENT. 

Today's 2019 July 2nd.
and I'm here to telling you all a story about a highschool boy. who droped Highschool 2 years ago and he locked himself in his room since then. he never get out out from his house even for a moment. he have 5000 friends on social media but I'm real life he doesn't have a single friend. he's loner , hes full pledge Hikikomori , he's dead cell for humanity , dead weight for society and parasite for his family. but the most worst thing is that boy is me. I'm 17 year old  name Hiro Nagami but my online friends knows me as name 'knOrs4A2'. 
I spent my days playing video games and watching anime. and sometimes I look outside the window to see outside world. in my personal opinion I think living in small square world is better than living in large spearical world. being outcast doesn't mean I'm weak I'm too perfect to adjust in this imperfect society of ours.  But being hikikomori doesn't mean I'm doing nothing. I'm not like other who spend their 16-17 years in studying. and waste rest of their life doing Job in some MNC or whatever. I have a goal, a dream to become millionaire By doing RMT in videogames. I'm on level 996 in this famous Online RPG game. but even that I didn't earn a single penny from it. finding a super rare item is like finding a ring in the ocean. and I learned that Gurus in India meditate in isolation on mountain. without clothes in such low temperature.so that means I living in isolation too. then I have the same kind of tendency to survive in low temperature like Indian gurus.so now it's time to test my limits. 
I take off my clothes, turn the AC to the lowest temperature and then I sit on my bed start mediation. but after 5 minute I start shaking and after another 5 minutes I out my clothes on.and turn off the AC. Damn it I can't do that.i thought of I sit one more second then I'm sure I will dead by now by freezing. now I thinking about what happend if I died today because of this ? Yeah I'm dried like this then on news cover my story like "A Hikikomori Highschool Droped Boy died baked in his room and police saying cause of death is Dead by freezing. after seeing him dead like this his parents and officers can't stop their laughing*. 

God Damn It what the hell I'm thinking it's depressing. nah it's too depressing , ultimate depressing, tragicaly depressing, Defination of depressing, all power set up to max depressing.

Just stop thinking about that and let's play some videogames. 
so which one should I play today yeah let's play "Shadow Verse". This Strategic Card game is great but I spend lots of my money on it to but jpegs and cards. 
But before I start the game I suddenly I heard my mom call me. why the hell is she calling me right now.i don't want to talk with my mom right now. so I ignoring her. start to oretent like I'm didn't noticed that I'm heard her voice. but she came to my room and start knocking.
now I have no choice but to open the door so I opened that. 
then she came inside and start observing my messed up room and weird face then gave me a letter and said your name is written on this letter someone send it for you. I don't know who send that and I didn't try to open it or read, so take this.
then she leave and I locked the door and start thinking about who send this letter to me ? and why? 
WAIT...
there is no sender name or address not even my address written on it. that means this letter doesn't post by any mail service. whoever sent this who came to my house and drop this letter in our letter box. 
I opened the envelope and start reading the letter.

"I know everything about you. you good for nothing dead weight Hikikomori. I know you droped Highschool 2 year ago. your name is Hiro Nagami. your 17 year old, spend your whole days I'm playing videogames and watching animes. you spending your money in Gatcha Games to by Pointless Animated Girls jpegs. your favourite anime is welcome to the nhk and My teen romcom snafu. 
so like a good kid cane to the park and don't think to try any thing funny cuz my follower spying you 24/7 and on my calls.  they all kill you with there Ak47. so meet me on park at 10'00 pm tonight. and it's not a request it's an order.

Today O,H and I went to Os house and no she watched my teen romantic comedy snafu, it had my heart bursting with emotion as I was waiting for this final season for 6 years. I wish I could find my yukinoshya but I know that snafu raised my expectations of live too high and reality can't compare. After being drained emotionally and comprehending the void in my heart due to a chapter in my life closing the 3 of us went to Hs girlfriends house to sit around a bonfire and chat. We stayed at her house chatting for 2 hours and then went on to walk down the river side for another 3 hours. After our walk we made it home and realized we have 5 exams this week and are not prepared for any of them. After we had our crisis we decided tomorrow we're going to study and work all day to prepare. So I went to sleep at 2 am dreading tomorrow.

Max slowly opened his bright golden eyes, a mixed look of both exhaustion and confusion written on his expression. His head was throbbing ruthlessly and he felt rather weak, but other then that, he was able to move just fine.

Pushing himself up into a sitting position, Max took a quick survey of his surroundings, and for a second he thought he was back in his own home. However after noticing the lack of anime posters and his limited edition character figurines, he quickly dropped that idea. In fact, besides a dresser, a mirror, and a door the probably lead to a closet, the room was completely bare.

Max reached up and touched the top of his head, searching and hoping that he was still dreaming. "Shit, I can't believe you really went through with it." Max said as his hand touched his brand new ears. "Why? It makes literally no sense for me to have these things on my head."

"Its not like they serve no purpose you dimwit so of course they make sense." A voice rang out through his head, one that Max identified as Yggdrasill. 

Max, unprepared to hear a voice in his head, literally fell off the bed in surprise, failing to catch himself. He landed on the carpeted floor with a thud that seemed louder then it should've been. His already aching head protested as it was the first to hit the ground.

"Yggdrasill? When the hell did you.....Oh, now I remember." Max rubbed the back of his head. "You said you'd be coming along with me."

"Oh so I guess your not as stupid as I thought," Yggdrasill said in a slightly less condescending tone. "You do have some sense after it seems. I'll try and remmeber that. As for me coming along, I'm only here to help you understand things that you dont already know. Everything else is on you."

"Well actually there isn't a single thing that I dont know about One Piece," Max said as he rose up from the floor, dusting himself off as he did so. "At least I was currently up to the newest issue of the manga and the latest episode of the english subbed. I think the newest arc was goin to be Wano?"

Their conversation was interrupted after Max had finished speaking by the door suddenly flying open and a rather gorgeous woman holding a frying pan entered into the room. Max wasn't an expert on beauty, but even he could tell that the woman standing before him was at least at the supermodel level.

"Don't move young man," the woman said as she lowered the frying pan. "I got a ton of questions to ask you." She turned around and walked out of the room. Max followed her instructions and decided to simply stand where he was. 

Not even half a minute later, the woman returned with a younger looking female and two chairs. The younger female was nowhere near the level of the older woman but she did possess charm and practically oozed with self-confidence. Max also got the sense that the younger one could kick his ass if he tried anything, but that was simply a gut feeling.

Placing the seats down in front of the bed, the older woman, who introduced herself as Nalla,  gestured for him and the younger one, who introduced herself as Emily, to have a seat. Max sat back down on the bed while the two ladies sat on the chairs, neither party saying anything to one another. 

It was Emily who eventually broke the silence. "Why are you wearing a wolf costume? Doesn't that get in the way?" She pointed at Max's tail and then at his ears.

"Told you that it would be a good conversation starter." Yggdrasill said, his voice echoing inside of Max's mind.

Max ignored him and smiled. "Actually these things are real, I was born with them. They do tend to get in the way from time to time, but other then that they're great to have."

"Those are real?!!" The two females exclaimed in unison, disbelief coloring their faces. "No way!!"

They each rose from their seats and stepped up to him, invading his personal space and now fiddling with his new ears. Though Max originally wanted to stop them from doing so, he realized that their hands actually felt good as they were very gentle while they examined his ears and tail. This combined with the fruity aroma of their body wash caused Max to think he had died and gone to heaven.

In his entire life, not a single female had given him a second glance, let alone the time of day. Any interaction with the opposite sex usualy involved him getting the crap beaten put of him. This one experience felt so far removed from reality that Max was sure he was dreaming while lying in a bed in a deep comatose state. It just didnt seem real to him, and his brain had a hard time accepting it.

"Awwwwwww, thats so cute," Nalla said, pointing at Max's tail which had started wiggling back and forth, occasionally thumping against the bed. "It just started wagging!! Does that mean your enjoying this?"

"Okay, thats enough," Max exclaimed, pushing the two of them back, away from his ears. "Yes I was born with wolf ears and a tail, its  super OP, I get it. Just please stop touching as their very sensitive!!"

The two of them giggled but conceded, sitting back down in their chairs. Though it was clear that they wanted to keep touching his ears, they had enough willpower to restrain themselves for the time being.

"Okay now its my turn to ask a question." Max said as he readjusted his white hoodie. "Where exactly am I? I have recollection of anything past waking up in this room. Apart from my name and my wolf-like appearance, I don't really know anything."

Max didn't really want to play the amnesia card as he wasn't really one to lie, however it was the best thing he could do to protect his secret. As far as he was concerned, other people finding out he was from another world was something he would like to steer clear of. 

Of course though he didn't want to use amnesia as an excuse, it was very appropriate to use in this scenario. It not only provided him with an alibi where he only had to play dumb, but it also gave him an excuse to ask where he was and what was going on. 

"Amnesia? Well then this is going to be a bit tricky," Nalla murmured. She had wanted to ask her own questions about where he had come from and who he was. Mor importantly she was dying to know where he had obtained his clothes. "Emily, why don't you explain where we are."

"We're currently at the edge of Cocoyasi village, a small town in the region of the Conomi Islands in the East Blue." Emily said, her eyes focusing intently on Max's golden ones. It was as if she were trying to detect any hint of deceit in his gaze. "This entire island is under the control of the Arlong Pirates, a group of fishmen lead by their despicable and bastard pirate captain Arlong."

"A little wordy, but at least it covered summarized most of the information I had planned to tell him." Nalla leaned forward and placed her head in her hands. "We wouldn't want to damage you with too much information so soon after waking up. Wehave to protect your cuteness...I mean health."

Max, who wasn't used to being in such close proximity to a sweet female such as Nalla let alone being complimented, blushed furiously. He hurriedly looked away from her gaze, his wolf ears fluttering slightly as he struggled to change the subject.

"So, were the pirates always in control of this island or did they recently take over?" Max asked, meeting Emily's gaze. For some reason he was unaffected by the intense look of the younger woman, probably because she was still giving him a suspicious glare 

"They will have been here for a one full decade in exactly five days." Emily responded, her eyes still focused on Max. It was painfully obvious that she didn't trust him, though why she didnt just come out and say it confused him greatly.

"A decade? Thats quite a long time." Max muttered, but in his head, gears were turning and thoughts began to come together. 

If he had appeared when it was nearing a full decade since the islands subjugation, then that would mean he was around 2 years behind the original timeline. This was of course assuming that Nami was 6 years old when Arlong first landed on the island, which was a reasonable assumption as she looked around that age in both the anime and in the manga.

"Putting Arlong aside, how would you like to stay with us for the time being?" Nalla asked with a small smile, once again drawing Max's attention. "We'll provide for you until either you regain your memories or you decide to set off on your own."

"Sis, we don't have enough money to pay for his tribute," Emily said in a rather rude tone. "We can't afford to have another person in this house. We'll have to kick him out."

"Its not a problem as we can easily hide him from fishmen when the time comes," Nalla easily countered, waving aside her little sisters complaints. "And if he gets spotted then he can just say that he's from Gosa village and already paid his tribute money. Its not like their gonna notice a measly child out of the millions of people in the Conomi Islands."

Emily looked as if she wanted to complain further but Nalla offered up a counter that actually made her stop and think. "How about the two of you spar with each other? You can teach him your moves and train him! He looks like he could use it considering how frail he looks."

Max, who had stayed quiet during the back and forth conversation, spoke up. "I think that would be great. If its no trouble then I would be happy to live here while I try and regain my memories. If there's anything I can do for you then please let me know." 

"Thats Okay, the training you'll be doing with Emily will be more then enough payment." Nalla smirked as she reached over and poked him in his arm. "Trust me, you'll ve begging to leave after she begins sparring with you."

"Okay, I'll accept having you live in this house, but I swear if you do anything indecent to us then I'll hurt you so bad, it'll make that lump on your forehead loom natural." Emily raised her fist and slammed it into her other palm


"Okay, by the way, I never caught your name." Nalla tilted her head, obviously slightly embarassed about forgetting such an obvious thing. "Would you mind telling us it?"

"Oh my name?" Max said with a small laugh, also having completely forgotten to mention it earlier. "My names Max Dwayne, its a pleasure to meet you."

Movie and anime fanatic Max Dwayne was a weakling! Its been that way for the whole 16 years of his life on Earth.  To say that he was weaker then most the females in his whole school wouldn't have been an exaggeration. Though he knew about his own physical weakness, he was okay with it, never bothering to try and change.

Deep down though he had always wanted to be strong even if he would outright deny it if anyone asked. So when he's suddenly given three wishes by a random falling meteor ((Cause that totally doesn't sound suspicious.......maybe he thought it was similar to the Ben 10 story??)) he utters his 3 most heartfelt desires.

"I want to be the strongest, to be able to speak to girls without them laughing at me, and I want friends, friends I can laugh and have a fun time with."

((That shits adorable!!! He so innocent!! Imma cry))

The stone, instead of immediately granting his wish, responded with something else. 

"The things that you wish for are easily obtainable, but instead of granting all your wishes, I'll send you to the place where you can obtain all of them with your own two hands!!"

And just like that, Max Dwayne was warped ((Beam me up scotty?)) to the world of One Piece where he would have to fight to recognize his three wishes.

His smile disappeared, and he looked at me like I was an idiot.

"You mortals are so quick to get mad over small things. I was just baiting you to get mad and fight like an idiot, but I just can't get myself to fight such a weakling. So I'll make this quick."

'Mortals? And how dare this guy trick me like that!'

*WOOSH*

He suddenly appeared in front of me.

'Too fast!'

"You're the last piece to my plan. Thank you for coming here today."

He grabbed my face.

"When my will is much stronger than my opponent, I can send them into an eternal nightmare. One that they will never wake up from. So have fun in the hell you wanted to send me to!"

I suddenly lost consciousness.

[Sabo P.O.V.]

All the monsters suddenly stopped attacking us and went away.

"What happened to them?" asked Brook

"I think Ken is behind this." said Robin

"He must be the one. Robert, take down the barrier."

He nodded, and the shadow barrier disappeared.

"Dorry, Brogy, the entrance is a little small so can you guy protect it while we go inside."

"No problem, Sabo." said Dorry

"Thank you. Let's go guys."

The five of us walked down the stairs.

"Ugh, it smells so bad here. My nose can't take this. Oh, wait. I don't have a nose. Yohohohoho."

"Sigh, to think you could be so relaxed in this situation. But this smell of blood is definitely not a good sign."

"Captain might need our help. We need to hurry." said Laffitte

*WOOSH*

He disappeared.

"Wait it could be dangerous down there!"

"There's nothing we can do about it. We have no other choice but to follow him." said Robert

"Sigh. Why can't people think before they act? Let's go before he gets himself killed."

We started running down the stairs.

I activated my Haki to sense for any traps or enemies hiding.

A little bit later all of us arrived in a room with a coffin and Ken on the ground with his hand on the coffin.

"Ken!" x2

"Captain!" x3

I was about to grab him.

"Don't touch him!" screamed someone from inside the coffin

I immediately jumped back.

"D… did that just come from inside the coffin?" asked Brook

"Yeah, I'm inside of here talking to you guys. My name is Vlad. How I ended up here doesn't matter right now. I got to know Ken a little bit, and I showed him the way out of here, but the idiot sudd-"

Laffitte suddenly let out a massive amount of killing intent.

"What did you just call my Captain?"

I grabbed his shoulder.

"Calm down Laffitte. We need information, and you threatening our only source of information isn't a good idea."

He calmed down.

"I'm sorry about that."

"Don't worry about it. I'm used to worse. Now continuing with my story. Ken suddenly touched my coffin without telling me. The reason why he is like this is because the coffin is cursed, and anyone who touches it could potentially die."

I felt my heart skip a beat. And I almost lost control of my emotions.

"And who is the one that cast this curse?" asked Robin

"My father. He sealed me away to protect me."

"Hahahahaha!" Laffitte suddenly started laughing

"What is so funny?" asked Vlad

"Do you really think that your father is trying to protect you?"

"What do you mean?"

"You've sensed it too, Sabo. Tell him what you sensed."

"Sigh, why are you always like this, Laffitte."

"It's better to tell someone the painful truth, then have them live with a cold lie."

"Sigh. Vlad, what Laffitte means is that we can sense two people inside of the coffin. One is definitely Ken, and the other one should be your father. And it looks like they want to kill each other. Which means that they are full of malicious intent."

I took a deep breath.

"But even then, I can feel concern and worry from Ken. I can immediately tell that he is fighting to protect. But all I can feel from your father is greed and hatred."

"What do you mean by that?" asked Vlad

"Your father doesn't care about you." said Robert

"Robert! I tried to bring it to him gently."

"There is no way to tell someone that their father doesn't care about them gently, Sabo."

"You guys are lying! Why would you say something like that!? My father always cared for me! He wanted me to succeed and surpass him! He is the best father I could have wished for!" screamed Vlad

"What!?"

I suddenly sensed his father's consciousness leaving the coffin and entering Vlad.

"ARGH! What is happening! AAAAHHHH!"

"That is your father."

"What!? What do you mean!?"

"His consciousness is trying to enter your body."

"Aahh, what are you doing stepdad."

(CUT CUT CUT! Cut that last sentence out!)

"AAAHHHH! Why are you doing this father!?"

Suddenly he stopped screaming, and a more mature sounding voice came from the coffin.

"I'm just taking your body since you're wasting its potential. And I made you, so it's mine, to begin with."

"Is it just me or is something not right here?" asked Brook

*BOOM*

The coffin suddenly exploded, and Ken flew back. I caught him before he hit the wall.

A lot of smoke filled the room. I tried to sense what was inside of the fog.

'Impossible!'

"We need to run away! We are no match for him! We've got Ken so let's go!"

When we were about to run away, the guy inside the coffin made his move.

"I won't let any of you escape here today!"

He ran towards us.

'We're screwed!'

*THUD*

He stumbled over his own foot.

"Tsk. I still need to get used to this body."

"Hahahaha!"

"Shut up, Robert. Let's go before he gets up."

*WOOSH* x5

We arrived at the top of the stairs.

"Captain!" x2

"We need to run away right now! We're being chased by someone who is too strong. We'll explain what happened when we're safe."

They nodded, and we ran towards the open gates.

*BOOM*

They shut close in our faces.

"Kekeke. There is no escaping me."

We turned around and saw a pale old man with long white hair and a white goatee. He has red eyes, and he is wearing old looking pyjamas.

"Sabo, Do you have a plan?" asked Robert

"Sigh."

I walked to the corner and put Ken down against the wall.

"We have no other choice. Since there is no way we can escape, we'll protect Ken to the end. I hope you guys are prepared to face him with all you've got."

"We giants never back out of a fight." said Brogy

"Neither do we humans." said Robert

"Kekeke. How touching. Too bad you brats are out of your league."

*WOOSH*

He came running towards us.

"Cien Fleur: Big Tree Slap Combo!"

*SLAP*

*BOOM*

A giant hand suddenly sprouted from the ground and slapped him into the wall. But the hand didn't stop there. It disappeared and appeared next to him and slapped him again.

*SLAP*

And again, and again, and again.

*THUD*

A little bit later, the hand disappeared, and he fell on the ground.

"Damn Robin, where did that come from?" asked Robert

She smiled.

"Ken is a great teacher."

"Teacher, huh. I bet he was teaching you more than just how to fight."

"Robert! This isn't the time for jokes."

"I'm sorry Sabo, I just had to say it."

I suddenly sensed him moving.

"Kekeke. I didn't expect a little girl like you to have so much strength behind her slaps."

He stood up without a scratch and smiled at us.

"But too bad, little mortals like you aren't capable of hurting me."

Robin also smiled.

"You look proud for being able to stop the weakest attack of a little mortal me."

"You bitch!"

"To think that you'd be able to get mad over a small insult from a little mortal. I didn't expect that from you."

'What is she doing? Why is she getting him mad?'

I suddenly spotted a paper that she was holding behind her back. The rest also seemed to notice.

This is a story about a boy that witnessed his little brother being killed by his abusive and drug-addicted parents. After immediately taking his revenge and ending up dying while crying and hugging his little brother, he gets transmigrated into the one-piece world with a 5-year-old body.

What will he do after finding out that he transmigrated here alone in a dangerous world full of monsters? Will he give up on life or continue living and finally be free.

Feeling better Lan Xuanyu then stood up and walked towards the door, he then grabbed the doorknob and opened it. He could see all kinds of flowers scattering around this little hut.

He could see Shen Xi who was currently tending the flower in front of her. Lan Xuanyu then approached her, "Thank you for helping and caring for me, senior" he said respectfully.

Shen Xi ignored Lan Xuanyu and continued her activities. Lan Xuanyu just stood there awkwardly looking at her, 'So it's true what was said on the wiki, she's cold and aloof!' he thought irritably.

Because it felt awkward, Lan Xuanyu finally walked away from her, not knowing that Shen Xi was glancing at him.

Lan Xuanyu looked around in satisfaction, "It seems like a good place to practice," he said happily. Then he sat cross-legged and opened his inventory, he then took out a cultivation art book and started reading it.

He then took a deep breath, "Alright! Let's make a formation first," he said excitedly. 

He then started to make it, from afar seen Shen Xi was watching him curiously, "Does he want to make a formation? So he's a Formation Master" she said.

It didn't take long for Lan Xuanyu to finish his formation. Seeing that made Shen Xi's eyes widen, "What, it's over !? He finished so quickly! Even a formation master during the golden age would take hours to complete!" She said incredulously.

'Who the hell is he !? Is he a survivor of that incident! ' she thought, narrowing her eyes to Lan Xuanyu. 

While the person felt a shudder all over his body, 'What was that I felt earlier?' he thought confused. He then shrugged his shoulders and saw his work, he was satisfied with the result.

"Now it's just a try," he said happily. He then stood in the middle of the formation, and he then sat cross-legged and started to close his eyes.

It didn't take long for him to start feeling an energy slowly entering his body. He moved his hand several times, immediately the formation below began to glow.

In an instant there was a sizable burst of energy that blew around him, and there was also a glimpse of blue energy surrounding him.

Instantly that energy started to form like threads and began to enter his body. Lan Xuanyu frowned because he could feel his body starting to heat up.

"Looks like it's started, huh?" he thought seriously. He then raised his hand forward and began to make a symbol.

In an instant the letter was finished, it was read "cool" and entered his body. In the instant his body started to cool down, he then started to focus.

Lan Xuanyu frowned, "It's so hard! Even with this millions of Runic God's experiences it might take a while," he said. He then began to enter into his consciousness, there he saw a nine-colored dragon child floating sleeping surrounded by an energy.

He then wrote another letter namely "Purification" "Soul Strengthening" "Stabilizing" "Primodial". The writing then entered the child's body, the dragon's eyes opened with white eyes and began to roar. Instantly the dragon's body began to expand to reach a length of 10 meters by a height of 3 meters.

After which he came out of his consciousness, he opened his eyes and sighed, "Looks like my cultivation has improved," he said happily. He then checked the status.

Seeing his status made Lan Xuanyu think, "Cultivation book mastery is pretty slow, huh?" he muttered.

"To be precise, 3 hours 50 minutes" said a cold voice from behind which made Lan Xuanyu shudder in fear. He then turned around and saw Shen Xi who was currently staring at him coldly.

"Ah is that so, senior?" said Lan Xuanyu as he scratched his head nervously.

Shen Xi ignored his question and continued staring at him which made Lan Xuanyu even more nervous, 'What do you want a woman!' he shouted in his mind.

Shen Xi continued to stare at him before finally turning around and leaving behind the cold sweat of Lan Xuanyu. She wiped her sweaty forehead, "What a scary woman! If it weren't for my low cultivation I would have slapped her butt!" he muttered irritably.

Instantly he felt an unpleasant smell, 'Don't tell me ..!' he thought in shock. He then glanced at his body, there was a black lump surrounding his body.

He then covered his mouth and nose, "Ugh, it really doesn't smell good, it feels like throwing up. How that fanfic story doesn't say specifically how it smells!" he said with disgust.

He then ran back to the hut and approached Shen Xi, "Senior can I use the bathroom please?" he asked begging. 

"Hmm," replied Shen Xi without turning her head who was currently watering the flowers.

He looked at him flatly, 'Is that okay or not!' he shouted in his mind.

He shook his head, "Ahh, I don't care anymore!" he shouted as he ran inside leaving Shen Xi looking strangely at him.

"Even though I have allowed him, but why is he screaming?" she muttered. If Lan Xuanyu heard that he would definitely be angry and vomit blood.

Lan Xuanyu was currently naked and was soaking in the bath and he was leaning on the bathtub while looking at his status again, "Looks like my coins have increased huh? If you look at it, it seems that I increased by 1000 when I reached the Peak Elementary Profound Realm.

"S-so, Kurosawa-san, I never got to ask you before, but what's your favorite kind of literature?" Yuri looked up at me but still kept her head tilted enough so that her hair covered her face and the slight blush on her cheeks.

Yuri's shy nature is both cute and troublesome at times. I'm not gonna bite her if she makes eye contact with me, ya know?

Oh well, I'll just have to open up her shell a little~

"Hmm, let me think about it," going into a thinking position, I thought about my answer, wanting to give her a truthful one - you can't open up someone's shell without opening up your own, after all. "I'd say that I like Romance Novels and most kinds of Action/Adventure-based Stories. Though I don't mind a horror book every now and then," coming to a conclusion, I sat down on a chair and leaned into it, looking at Yuri who was sitting on a chair next to mine, "Anything that keeps my attention and is exciting, I suppose~"

Seeing my smile, Yuri turned her head away with a bashful look on her face, while her hands fidgeted with a lock of her long purple hair. 

It seems she's not used to being smiled at by a handsome person like yours truly~

Jokes aside, Yuri right now is incredibly adorable. If I didn't know she suffered from terrible natural shyness and anxiety, I'd be assured that she was shy because she had feelings for me and I'd probably end up asking her out. Alas, this is just how she is.

"W-well, that's nice. I, uhh, like horror stories mainly b-but I wouldn't mind reading some Romance..." she trailed off for a second before snapping her head toward me, "If I give you a recommendation for a Horror, can you, I don't know, maybe give me recommendation for a Romance novel?" she looked hopefully up at me, her purple eyes filled with worry and other anxious feelings.

Seeing her opening up like this, I really thanked my lucky stars that she opened up when talking about books or other hobbies of hers.

Smiling, I nodded my head, "Sure, I don't have a copy of the book, but I can give you a recommendation. It's not strictly a romance novel, but it delves into some pretty complex stuff and it's more of a short story if anything. It's called 'The Grasshopper' and it's by Anton Chekhov--" interrupting me, a small blur came and sat on my lap before wrapping her arms around my neck.

"Hiroki-senpai, you've read 'The Grasshopper' as well? That's my favorite book!*" Karla's face was right next to mine, smiling and I instantly felt the atmosphere between me and Yuri deflate as my purple-haired fellow club member turned away from us and went straight into her book with a complicated look on her face.

(*A/N - Is this a coincidence? Hell no. I just like torturing Hiroki and making Karla aggressively hit on him.)

Seeing this, I couldn't help but think that Karla was way too forward and aggressive...Like seriously, it's getting kinda annoying...

Looking down at the troublesome girl on my lap, I couldn't stop the small frown from coming onto my face. But as if she didn't see it, Karla continued to smile and her hands kept playing with the hair on the back of my head.

...She may be annoying but having her play with my hair is pretty nice...No! Stop! Do not be seduced, Hiroki!

Resolving myself, I opened my mouth to speak, "Yuri-san and I were just having a conversation; Don't you think you were rude barging in like that, Kure-san?" my voice wasn't cold or harsh but the annoyance was very clear.

This gained Yuri's attention as she looked at me from the corner of her eye, surprise filling her purple eyes at the fact that I would even bring it up and want to talk to her instead of the girl so clearly smitten with me.

But in classic Karla fashion, the girl on my lap stayed completely oblivious to my annoyance and just continued smiling. However, despite her lack of reaction to my annoyance, I knew that she knew I was annoyed, which made her obliviousness even more frustrating. But she still answered me, but not with the answer I wanted.

"Hiroki-senpai, call me Karla, otherwise I'll get mad," her smile changed into a childish pout and one of her hands came down to my chest to 'playfully' hit me.

And when I say playfully, I mean she hit me with enough strength to break an average man's ribs and sternum. Luckily as you already know, I'm incredibly sturdy. My body's more like bio-metal than normal human flesh at this point.

But it didn't mean her doing so didn't annoy me, even if only a little bit.

"I don't think we know each other enough to be on a first name basis, Kure-san," she flinched a little at the slight edge to my voice and looked a bit taken aback like no one had ever gone against her wishes.

She was the great-granddaughter of the head of the Kure Clan, so she was no doubt a spoiled little princess who everyone doted on. I'm not so nice to just continue to go along with such selfish behavior.

When she went to speak, I cut her off.

"Kure-san, I'm fine with you flirting with me - in fact, I find it incredibly flattering. But you can't just use it as a reason to be rude like this," once again it seemed like she was being purposely ignorant but she stood up and sat on a chair of her own before looking between me and Yuri.

"You're right, Hiroki-senpai, I was rude just then. But I just can't seem to help myself around you!" she giggled as she said this before she looked a bit more seriously at me, "But I'll try if that's what you want, senpai."

Her serious and determined face was quite cute and I couldn't help but pat her head, "That's all I ask...Karla-san," when she heard me call her name, she smiled but I could see the displeasure about the fact that I still added the '-san' honorific. Though overall she seemed pretty thrilled that she'd made at least some progress.

Just when I was about to continue speaking to Yuri again, a solitary knock resounded around the club room before the door to the club slid open revealing a teen boy.

He was of average height with medium-short length black hair. His most prominent features are his set of dead fish-eyes and a short strand of hair that sticks upwards, usually known as an Ahoge in anime. He was wearing the school uniform all males wear but it looked a little baggy on him.

He wasn't too attractive but that wasn't because he was necessarily ugly but mainly because his facial expressions were set in a constant scowl or a cynical smile. In fact, he would be rather good-looking if it weren't for his horrible expressions.

Seeing him, I knew exactly who he was: He was Hachiman Hikigaya, the protagonist of OreGairu (or Snafu, depending on your preference).

Smiling at the guy, I stood up before looking at the rest of the people in the club, "Well, I've got some business to do, so I'll see you guys tomorrow," looking more specifically at Yuri, I winked at her, "You'll have to give me that book suggestion tomorrow, okay, Yuri-san?"

She only nodded at what I said before blushing and burying her head back in her book. Chuckling at her reaction, I could practically feel the animosity from Hachiman. Ignoring him for now, I turned to the others and gave them a quick wave before walking over to Hachiman who was just now realizing how tall and muscular I was.

It was safe to say he wasn't too intimidated on the surface but he definitely felt like I could squash him. Not that I would. I quite liked Hachiman when I watched his Anime. I just felt that he needed a friend to help pull him through his own shitty attitude.

And I wouldn't mind being that friend, given the chance.

Laughing, I looked over at him as we walked away from the club room, "'All popular people should go and die' is what's going through your mind, right?"

He heard my laughter and let out a scoffing sound before looking back at me with his rotten grey eyes.

"Not at all. I just wish they could go and be popular somewhere else," he did nothing to hide his disdain and it caused me to laugh. He looked up at me like I was an idiot for a minute before sighing, shaking his head and looking back in front of us.

Not wanting the conversation to die out just yet, I brought up a topic both of us could speak about.

"So, did Hiratsuka-sensei force you to join this club as well?" I grinned as I saw him flinch at the mention of a teacher the two of us had.

He looked left and then right before looking up at me with a slightly evil-looking grin, "Yep, that old hag said something to get me into the club...I would've said no but..." he looked over at me and I instantly knew what he was talking about:

He was scared she'd strong-arm him into the club via punching him.

I can't blame him. If it weren't for my unique genetics, I'd probably be scared of her punches as well.

Without thinking about it, I put a hand on his shoulder and consoled him, "Don't worry, she's a brute and she did the same thing to me."

Though, she made me feel bad by pleading me to join...

Hachiman seemed genuinely surprised by the contact and had probably been under the impression that I was just like everyone else and thought he was gross or something. But I wasn't and thank god for foreknowledge from the Anime otherwise I'd probably have thought he was weird or something.

His surprise didn't last long, however, and he subtly shifted my hand off of his shoulder but he still had his grin on his face as he reveled in the fact at least one person didn't think he was weird.

I didn't want to burst his bubble but I decided to carry on talking anyway.

"Oh, and the name's Hiroki Kurosawa. Nice to meet ya, let's get along," despite us walking, I stuck a hand toward him, offering a handshake.

Yet again, Hachiman was surprised but he didn't let it ruffle him as he kept his composure and grabbed my hand, completing the handshake, "Likewise, Kurosawa-san. My name's Hachiman Hikigaya."

We kept up some light conversation while we walked. The basics; what year we were in, did the other have any hobbies - stuff like that. He even went on to ask why a big guy like me was joining the Literature Club which was unusual for Hachiman; He usually stayed out of other people's business.

"Uhh, I guess I joined it because I want to read books and discuss them with others who hold similar interests. Plus being in a sports club would be too boring," I casually replied to him and he seemed to think over my answer, analyzing it for anything he could use. Guess that's Hachiman for you, always analyzing people and finding weak points in their armor so he can hurt them if he needs to.

Not that I really minded him doing so. In fact, I admired him for it. There's nothing wrong with preparing yourself against possible enemies. Though I do think Hachiman could learn to relax a little.

And though I didn't tell him my main reason for joining the Literature Club, I have to say that what I told him isn't a lie. I do want to discuss books, poems and other forms of literature with the club members - it'd be fun.

Hachiman, finishing his analyzing of my reply, looked at me with a curious face before voicing that curiosity, "What do you mean boring? Don't you like sports or something?" his suspicion was clear and he could no doubt see my muscular body - so he knew I was physically fit and probably worked out a lot (though he didn't know that this was purely to do with genetics, his assumption was pretty sound anyway). 

After thinking for a few seconds on how to say this and not sound incredibly arrogant, I gave up and just said it how it is.

"No, I quite like sports and most physical activities," my statement only confused him further, but I carried on speaking, ignoring his confusion, "but I'd simply crush anyone I came up against. Whether it's in terms of physical ability or talent, I'd remain unbeaten. It'd be boring because I'd lack any kind of opposition. Books, as long as you find something just right, won't get boring. So, my choice is pretty obvious when you think of it like that," I finished my lengthy answer and just looked ahead, ignoring Hachiman's raised eyebrow at my arrogance.

We continue walking as I sensed Hachiman trying to figure out how to reply to my comment. At first, I could see that he wanted to call me out on my arrogance but as he looked at my body, he could tell that what I was saying wasn't completely full of arrogance.

In the end, he settled with this, "Well, at least you know your strengths. Though I think you would be surprised if you actually joined the clubs instead of just making assumptions that you'd crush everyone you came across. You're not the only talented person in the world," he didn't mean offense by what he said. It was purely what he thought from an objective point of view.

Laughing, I slapped him on the back, knocking the air out of him and making stumble forward a bit, "Ha! I guess you're right, Hikigaya-san. But don't worry, I'm not arrogant enough to think I'm unmatched in the world. Yet."

Smiling, I laughed once more before Hachiman came to a stop next to a door in front of his. I could see the grin on his face and I knew I was on my way to befriending him. Or at the very least getting him intrigued with me before finally becoming friends with him.

I was bound to be surrounded by girls, so I needed some bros and Hachiman was definitely worthy of such a title. I knew at least that he wouldn't betray me, and quite frankly that's all I need.

He slid the door open and walked in. I walked in shortly after him and saw two people waiting for us.

One of them I recognized immediately as Hiratsuka, who looked over at me with a slightly guilty look on her face.

The other one was both unfamiliar and familiar to me. What I saw was a beautiful teenage girl with waist-length black hair which is tied with two red ribbons by each shoulder and angular blue eyes. She was currently sat down on a table opposite Hiratsuka, looking down at a book.

She had a cold facial expression, yet it didn't take away from her beautiful appearance. She had a definite female figure despite having a small-ish chest, with his hips being wide and her waist being thin. She was extremely attractive.

She gave off a weird vibe as she felt both petite and fragile while giving off the impression that she was big and strong. It was quite a weird thing to look at but oddly enough it added to her beauty, making her seem like royalty or something.

When she looked up at me, her sharp and cold blue eyes cut through me and I felt my heart beat a bit quicker.

...Man, I must have something wrong with me if I'm feeling something for this ice-cold chick...!

Making a Deal with a God you apparently helped in a past life isn't something you do every day, but if given the chance, would you make a wish that was a little over the top?

At six, he walked the short distance to Ketan's room. Ritu winked at him as he passed her desk. 
There was a beige leather sofa with a beautiful glass top center table where he met visitors. A red and beige floral carpet and potted plants in corners lent some color to the room. There were pictures on the wall. He recognized some  office retreats, training events, one of Ketan receiving a service award from the Global CEO of Stonewell. Certificates  personal and corporate  were up too. 
Ketan sat behind his gleaming teak desk, looking intently at his desktop screen. Except for the gold pen stand and a family picture, the table was bare. How did he keep his desk so clean? Ketan wore a crisp white shirt and a check red and black tie; the jacket of his grey suit hung behind his chair. Clipped french beard, salt-pepper hair neatly combed, lean body, Ketan exuded elegance, power. A man in control of his destiny. 
"Sameer!" Ketan welcomed him, the voice of a top executive, not betraying the displeasure at the interruption. "How're you?"
Sameer wasn't sure where to sit  on the chairs in front of Ketan's desk or the sofa. So he stood, holding on to one of the chairs instead. "It is about the quarterly financial statements. I was surprised to see the reports published in my name. I mean generally it's the CFO who signs off on the report." He decided to park himself on the chair he held. 
He had Ketan's attention. Ketan peered at him and then broke into a smile. "Are you complaining we've given you an important role?"
"No, I didn't mean that," he said, "But I had signed off on provisional statements—"
"Nitin and I were both away from office at that time. So we decided to rely on your judgment and the signing off was delegated to you. Is that a problem?"
 "Nono, that's not a problem. But I was told to include Biochem figures in the quarterly reports and as you know Biochem was not a subsidiary as of March 31."
"Told to?" Ketan's tone was sharp, "By whom?"
"My team  Kartik  he confirmed you had approved itthough -"
"WellwellSameer," Ketan wheeled his chair back, his fingers steepled in front of him, "This is interesting. Hmmso let's see if I got that right. You signed inaccurate financial statements violating Company law, SEBI regulations  because Kartik told you to? That doesn't sound very responsible. You know Company law better than anyone  I've heard you quote chapter and verse." 
Sameer felt sick in the pit of his stomach.
Ketan leant back in his chair, arms behind his head. "I am the CFO of the company. I don't have time for details. I leave it to my managers, who are smart and competent to take these calls." He paused, for an effect, "Managers like you."
"I signed those statements believing the orders came from you. I left a note for you, Srini and the Board explaining the entire situation."
Ketan had the look of a pugilist on his face. Readying for the fight to begin. "Do you have a copy of that note?"
"No, I" 
 Ketan's tense body relaxed, but he continued to stare at Sameer. "I suggest you should be more careful in what you sign. That's what the company expects from a senior manager." 
They were interrupted by a knock. Gopu, the coffee boy. Sameer watched as he poured the coffee into the gold rimmed white porcelain cups. He felt nauseous. 
"I guess there has been a snafu then. The question is what we do about it now?" Sameer asked, after Gopu left.
Ketan took a long sip of the coffee. "For your sake, Sameer, let's hope the snafu, as you call it, is not discovered."
"But there is a public issue scheduled next month. There could be major repercussions if this is reported"
"Precisely why it's important it's not discovered. It would be hard for me to defend you if it was."
Sameer felt heat radiating from his face and neck. He couldn't believe this was happening. Ketan was in this sham. For all he knew, he may be its architect. 
There was a lull in the conversation. Ketan was daring him to say more. He realized he couldn't. Anand was right. He was fucked. 
"Anything else, Sameer?"
There was nothing to be said any longer. This was a man whose professional excellence he had admired, who he considered his mentor. If he was out there to get him, what was there to say? 
Ketan was his top management self again, the charm back in his voice. "Don't worry too much about it. People have short memories. Once the public issue is over, I'm sure we'll figure out a way to fix it in the next quarter."
Ketan offered his hand and smiled. "Let's go for a drink when all this hoopla about the public issue is over. Talk about the old times."
The meeting was over. 
Aware of Ritu's eyes on him, as he walked out of Ketan's room, Sameer didn't look up. He wanted to be alone. 
Entering his room, he shut the door behind him. He considered his options. Not many. None attractive. Confronting Kartik wouldn't help; he could deny his involvement and there wasn't any evidence to the contrary. Sameer could quit and go public  disclosing the company had cheated on its quarterly results. But then his neck would be the first in line. He had signed the reports. He could report to the goras in London or Srini, the CEO here. But who knew, maybe Srini was in it too. With London goras, if it was his word against Ketan's. Who were they going to believe  the CFO of the company or the Assistant Financial Controller who had signed off on those statements? Of course, he could stay quiet for now and refuse to sign the next quarterly statements. That would be in line with what he usually did. Nothing. 
But what if this got out? 
He heard the click of the door knob. Ritu. 
"What's wrong?" she asked, stepping inside his room and closing the door behind her. She stood right next to him. He could smell the faint fragrance of her perfume. She looked alluring in the pale pink saree with the grey paisleys. He felt an urge to hold her. To escape from the mess he had got himself into.He put his arms around her waist and pulled her closer to him. 
"Not here," she whispered. 
He brushed his face on her flat stomach, hiding himself. 
She was getting turned on. Her fingers combed through his hair as she whispered, "What do you want?"
He got up from his chair and held her from behind. He loved the back of her neck; vulnerable and pure. He kissed the light brown mole that was a shade darker than her skin and rubbed himself on her hips. "You."
"Someone could come in," she said. But there was no conviction in her voice. 
His hand was inside her blouse, under her bra, massaging her bare breast. He bent down and gathered up her saree, baring her legs. With her free hand, she held up her bunched saree, letting him run his hand over her legs and between. He could feel her arousal, the quickening of her breath. She let go of her hand on the saree and turned around and unzipped him as they kissed passionately. 
The lights went off. It was seven. The energy saving lights were designed to automatically switch off at that time. They were entwined in each other's arms in the darkness. 
He broke away and sat on a chair, drawing her with him. She smiled, as she looked in his eyes. She bunched up the saree above her hips, peeled the panties off her legs, and lowered herself on him. In that half state of undress, he was inside her, feeling the familiar warmth. 
They didn't hear the door because there was no knock. There had been no knock because the room had been dark and Ashok, the office boy, had presumed no one was in. 
The three of them froze for an instant when Ashok stepped in and the motion sensor switched the lights back on. And then, there was a flurry of action. Ritu getting off him, Sameer scrambling to cover his nakedness, and Ashok realizing what he had stumbled upon, walking out of the room and shutting the door behind him.

Sameer Chadha is in a mid-life crisis, unhappy with everything around him, even his name. His corporate career is languishing and he is increasingly alienated from his family.  His wife Kavita, a part-time poet and a full-time mother, lives more in the past than the present.  When their lives collide with that of Ritu, a younger woman coping with an abusive husband and an autistic son, a chain of events gets triggered that puts all their lives into a tailspin.  The Jasmine Bloom is a story of love, lust, ruin and resurrection.  It is a commentary on the fragility of modern family life; of terrible secrets and shocking choices.  However, at its core, it is the tale of a man learning to be happy in the here and now.

Meanwhile, Tom had grabbed Roxanne’s phone on the table. Seeing her lipstick stained cup of cappuccino sitting there, he sliced the cups off the table in anger. He knew going to the police could be dangerous, especially with the type of people Roxanne’s father was involved with. No, he decided to go straight to the source. Plus, if anyone was following him, they wouldn’t expect his next location.
Not wanting to use his car, he ordered a ride share. Because he knew the building so well, he could identify the best place to hide until the car arrived. 
When he reached his destination, Tom stormed up to the door and knocked.
“Coming,” a friendly voice called, and Tom waited. Roxanne’s father opened the door and Tom barged in.
“They took Roxanne,” he said, hurrying into the living room, pacing back and forth. His normal erect posture looked bent and wounded.
“Took her? Where? Who?” her father asked.
“You know. You must know. It’s all because of your gambling. They just took her.” He reached out his arms, widening his eyes. 
“Slow down. Someone took her?” Roxanne’s father closed the door and walked back to the couch.
“You don’t seem upset. What’s wrong with you?” Tom stared at him.
“I can see you’re agitated,” Roxanne’s father fluttered his hands to try to calm down Tom. “I need to know what happened first.”
Tom breathed out a long breath and plopped on the couch. “We were having coffee at this place – my first building project – near the city line. And these two men just jumped out of a van and snatched her. It was so fast. I couldn’t react. They covered the license plate.” Tom dropped his head in his hands then clenched his fists around the back of his hair.
“Why would they do that? I thought she had everything handled? She told me…”
“She did. Well, she thought she did.” Tom looked remorseful, almost ashamed. “There was one snafu. I was helping her with it. I guess I didn’t get to it in time.”
“What snafu?”
“Never mind,” Tom snapped, raising his head, leaving behind his feelings of regret and focusing on their predicament. “We need to find her. I figured going to the police wasn’t the right move. Where do these guys hang out? How can we get in touch with them?”
“You don’t,” Roxanne’s father said.
“But if I had to…”
“You can’t.” Roxanne’s father hobbled to the kitchen where he picked up a piece of paper from a little desk and shuffled back to the living room. He handed Tom the piece of paper with a note scribbled on it. “Every time they had a message for me, it came through Owen. I’d write it down. Like this,” he said.
Tom pressed his head onto the back of the couch in frustration. Owen was a dead end. The police would complicate things. Maybe Danny, Roxanne’s boss, would know something?
Taking Roxanne’s phone out of his pocket, he said, “Maybe they called her. Maybe they sent her a message.” He started to scroll through her most recent messages, then her contacts, hoping to find the information he needed, but he didn’t really know what he was looking for.
“Here, you do it. See if there are any contacts you don’t recognize.” Tom handed the phone to her father. As he was clicking through, Tom heard a ping. 
Roxanne’s father jumped a little at the sound. “What was that?” Tom grabbed the phone out of his hand. 
Tom sprung to his feet and beamed. “Yes,” he said. “Purchase alert. Good girl, Roxanne.”
He turned to Roxanne’s father. “I got a ride here, can you drive?” 
“Oh, okay,” her dad said. Tom held the phone like a winning lottery ticket. Because of the purchase alert, he could see that Roxanne bought a pizza from Antonio’s near downtown Memphis.
In the car with Roxanne’s father, Tom adjusted the seat for his long legs. He spit out directions, urging her dad to drive faster. Tom knew Roxanne probably wasn’t at the pizza place, but he may be able to find out about Roxanne’s location. They sped along the highway with Tom anxious and ready to jump out. 
At Antonio’s, Tom bolted inside and showed the person behind the cash register the purchase alert on the phone. Tom slipped a $100 bill across the counter and asked for the location and phone number for the order. The employee looked sideways to make sure no one was looking, slipped the bill into a pocket of his apron, and gave Tom the information. 
Tom hopped back into the car and said in haste, “the P Hotel,” to Roxanne’s father who slammed on the gas. Now that Tom had some information, he had to figure out what room she was in. He hadn’t taken the pizza, instead leaving that to the delivery person. Someone had to come to the lobby to retrieve it, and Tom knew it wouldn’t be Roxanne. He didn’t want anything to tip off the kidnappers that he was on their trail.
How could he figure out what room she was in, much less what floor she was on? He thought about Roxanne and her funny disguise at the airport. When she was trapped, she used what was available to her. 
Roxanne’s father pulled up to the hotel’s entrance. Before Tom could skedaddle from the car, Roxanne’s father grabbed Tom’s arm. He popped open the glove compartment where a small revolver rested. “Take it,” he told Tom. Tom hesitated then shoved the gun in his waistband in the back of his pants, his coat hiding its bulge. “Go get my girl.”
Inside, a large crowd gathered around a fountain where several ducks swam in the water. The hotel was famous for its ducks which marched to and from the fountain to the elevator, every day. It was a show that the hotel capitalized on, welcoming tourists to its lobby twice daily for the festivities. 
With such a big crowd, it was easy for Tom to blend in. He knew the kidnappers would recognize him. He needed a disguise, and he thought about Roxanne. He spied a luggage cart holding a few suitcases, a man’s hat and trench coat. People were too busy watching the ducks that no one noticed Tom put on the hat and coat. He slipped the gun from his pants into an inside pocket on the coat.
He stood around the corner from the elevator waiting and watching everyone who stepped off, looking for the possible kidnapper. 
A few minutes later, the pizza delivery person entered the lobby. He dialed his phone, said a few words to the person on the other end, and waited. Two more elevator doors opened before the kidnapper, who Tom recognized, stepped out. 
The duck show was wrapping up and the duck master, with his line of ducks, were waddling toward the elevator bays. Tom had to act quickly.
He waited until the kidnapper paid for the pizza and stepped back on the elevator. Making sure the kidnapper was the only one in the elevator, Tom thrust his arm between the doors at the last second and kept his head down. 
The kidnapper looked up, probably seeing the commotion behind Tom, and didn’t register Tom’s face as he glanced at the floor number the kidnapper had pressed. Then Tom stepped back to let the doors close.
With a trail of ducks behind him, Tom decided to take the stairs. The kidnapper had pressed floor 8. If Tom hurried, he might be able to catch up to him. 
He sprinted up the stairs, floor after floor, starting to huff around the fourth floor, his thoughts of Roxanne propelling him.  On the eighth floor, he peered around the corner. He didn’t see anyone. He heard the sound of a door closing in the hallway to the right, and he took in a deep breath to try to follow the smell of pepperoni. 
Tom stood near the end of the hallway, listening. Which one? Should he knock? He dialed the number the pizza cashier had given him using a call masking app and listened. He could vaguely make out a phone ringing behind 825. Taking the gun out and aiming at the door, Tom prepared to save his girl. 

Roxanne is a tough, no-nonsense construction site manager who is down on her luck. Eager to save her dad from a dangerous loan shark, she agrees to a deal with a wealthy, refined real estate investor, Tom.  In exchange for helping Roxanne keep her job and construction on track, she agrees to have a baby with Tom, who is eyeing a piece of property to develop that can only be sold to a family-friendly investor. While Roxanne does not consider herself maternal, her construction knowledge and rough-around-the-edges attitude charms Tom. Together, this improbable pair navigate some unexpected twists and have a baby, all while developing an unlikely romance.

“Still on her knees, she pulled off Tom’s shirt. His lanky body, taut and firm, excited her. He unhooked her bra and brought her shirt over her head. They continued to kiss as Tom pushed Roxanne back on the bed. He kissed her left breast, then her right, his soft lips arousing her. His movements were both gentle and fluid, unlike the stiff, robotic movements she was used to seeing from Tom.
She hugged his back and pressed his body into hers, wanting to feel his curves and muscles. She gazed in his eyes and kissed him once softly, then again ardently, her yearning for him growing.
‘I thought I might never see you again,’ he whispered in her ear. ‘And I realized, I couldn’t live without you.’ He kissed her hard, his face and body entwining with hers. She returned his passion, her hips pressing up into his manliness.”
