Junette Lim died on September 13, 2019. When she died she expected white and pearly gates or maybe some demons holding pitch forks over a fire. She never expected this. I mean, reincarnating into a webtoon? Seriously?

She took a look at the demon again, and then to Di Fuyi. "I thought you kept her away, somewhere hidden, didn't you? I did not expect that she would come back so early. Also, Fan Qianshi should know that this place is still the demon's territory, and yet he blabbered on without a care. Every bit about the truth was generously spilled. There must be a wizardry barrier that he thought was soundproof. If that is so, how did the demon find out everything? By the way, how did you manage to escape?"
She threw out a series of questions at him.
Di Fuyi had no intention of lying to her. "An array formation was set up about a hundred miles from here. When we got there, I made an excuse that I had to treat Hao Er's injuries. She felt very safe in her territory, so she stopped by without any concern. Then, I made up another excuse to run a perimeter check. That was when I left. I made a replacement puppet to go back to her as a reassurance. She acted like she was severely injured, so she sat in silent cultivation for recovery. She did not even check on the replacement that I made, so I seized the window of opportunity and found my way back to you. However, the replacement could only last for two hours. When the time was up, she would surely notice something was off and would go looking for me. The array formation was made to confine her for only two hours. Also, I left a mirror behind on purpose."
"The Parallel Mirror?"
"Yes, from the mirror, she would be able to see and hear everything that was happening here."
Gu Xijiu was thoroughly impressed by his quick wits. "What a thoughtful plan. Did you figure out that the demon and Fan Qianshi were actually on the same team a long time ago?"
Di Fuyi nodded. "I did not know about the demon's identity at first, but I somehow found that the swallowing desert looked familiar. It seemed like something only Fan Qianshi would do, so I tried to lure him into talking. It went well as he spilled everything."
Gu Xijiu was awestruck. "You made it sound so real, but it turned out to be a trap."
"I had made my deductions from the available facts. My logical conclusions hardly go wrong."
"Did you also deduce that the demon would end up in shambles?"
"More or less."
"So full of tricks!" With a thumbs-up, Gu Xijiu was very impressed by her husband's daring maneuvers. 
Di Fuyi held her thumb in his hand and said, "I think you can say that I am both intelligent and practical. Also, baby, I have to say that you are brilliant. I did not tell you anything in advance, and yet you were able to chime in."
Gu Xijiu was quite embarrassed by his compliment. "Well, I would not be compatible with the great Celestial Master Zuo if I were any less intelligent, right?"
They continued to chat on for a while before Gu Xijiu turned her attention back to the fight.
Fan Qianshi and the demon continued battling against one another in the sky. Gu Xijiu looked up but could only see the rolling dark clouds. Lightning flashed, and thunder rumbled every once in a while. Occasionally, their figures could be seen against the light.
Gu Xijiu softly said, "They are so busy fighting. Shouldn't they be worried about our escape?"
Di Fuyi examined the dark water that surrounded them and replied, "This dark water prison is truly the best way to secure anyone from running away. They are not worried about us at all."
"Don't you have a way out?" Gu Xijiu was really curious.
With a smile, Di Fuyi answered confidently, "Don't worry. There is nothing in the world that can trap me."
Gu Xijiu heaved a sigh of relief. He sounded like he already had a plan.
"Let's take the chance to run away now when they are not paying attention." She refused to waste any time.

"As long as they aren't in the Nether World yet." As a human being, he couldn't step foot into that place.
Gu Bailu jumped into his arms. "Qingqing, you're truly an omnipotent man."
"That sounds so insincere. Do you truly love me when I've been so nice to you?" Feng Qingtian patted her bottom angrily.
Gu Bailu raised her head and looked at him solemnly. "Of course I'm sincere. It doesn't matter who's mean to you, I'll definitely be on your side. I'm someone who understands gratitude."
Feng Qingtian kissed her lips and asked in a low voice, "What about your feelings for me? Do you love me?"
Gu Bailu was taken aback. She could regard Feng Qingtian as a friend, and even as a friend with benefits, but she couldn't give him her heart.
However, it seemed unfair for her to simply enjoy the privileges he afforded her without telling him the truth.
"What about you? Do you love me?" Gu Bailu asked in return.
"Not only do I love you, I can sacrifice my life for you." Feng Qingtian bit her lips. He had never concealed his feelings for her ever since he realized them. This woman was asking the obvious.
Gu Bailu frowned a little at the pain. "Have you considered why you love me?"
"Because you have all the special qualities that I love."
Gu Bailu smiled. "In other words, it's because I'm very much like your former lover, the woman that you will remember to the end of your days."
Feng Qingtian frowned slightly. "I guess you can say that."
"Then, have you considered if you will still love her replacement when your former lover does show up someday? Or will you simply love both?"
Feng Qingtian covered her mouth. "As I said, I don't have any former lover now. I only have you."
"That's right. You only have me, which is why you feel that I'm the one. But can you guarantee that you'll still feel the same when your former lover shows up? A fake is just a fake, and a replacement is just a replacement. In a situation like this, I really can't devote myself to you. I'm scared that I'll be abandoned when the right person returns."

"I somehow feel that the ability it has isn't merely regeneration," Bloody that was hiding in Lin Huang's sleeve suddenly said, "It did mention before that each time it's killed, the only thing it needs to do is to get another body. Just like human clothes, regardless of how the clothes are damaged and even if they're burnt to ashes, it'll have no effect on the rest of the clothes. One will only need to change to another set of clothing. That's why despite its body being severely damaged to the point where not even a single piece of its physique was left, it can still switch to another body."
What Bloody said dawned upon Lin Huang. He used to think that the evil spirit possessed a secret skill like regeneration. That was why he had been scratching his head for a way to obliterate its body into pieces so that it could no longer regenerate. After listening to Bloody's explanation, he knew that he no longer had to waste his energy on that. Regardless of the extent to which its body was damaged, it could simply revive itself by switching to another body.
"Since that's the case, I don't need to waste my Life Power attempting to kill it into pieces." Lin Huang felt relieved as his Worldly Purification consumed a large portion of his Life Power.
As the black mist formed again, he could confirm that the explosion had ended and that the area was no longer dangerous. Lin Huang then removed his Dark Mirror, appearing next to the black mist in a flash.
He made countless attempts trying to interfere with the formation of the black mist. All his efforts were in vain. Lin Huang was not going to waste his energy on that anymore. Therefore, he patiently waited next to the evil spirit until its new body was created.
The black mist swiftly formed and in less than half a second, its new body stabilized. This time, it transformed into a skinny man.
Right after its body was formed, the evil spirit opened its eyes. It then saw Lin Huang standing less than ten meters away from it, revealing a "kind" smile.
The next second, the bloody glow streaked across the sky.
The evil spirit did not have time to respond at all. Its skull flew away and black blood spurted out of its neck to a height of two meters. After a long while, it collapsed to the ground, transforming into the black mist and fading.
"That saves me a lot of effort." It was the fastest win since Lin Huang had started fighting it.
Lin Huang did not retreat after it was killed. He remained at its original position, patiently waiting for its body to form again.
Perhaps the evil spirit itself might not notice that there was such a flaw in its secret "regenerative" skill.
Each time when its body was formed, the black mist was visible and its speed was not fast enough, so its whereabouts could easily be tracked.
It seemed like it did not have full control over its body replacement process which took place on its own. Once the body died, the replacement would happen within a minute. Seemingly, the evil spirit had no way of prolonging the time needed for the formation of the black mist. Otherwise, it would have extended the period to a few hours or even a few days until Lin Huang's upgrade in his combat strength had lost its effect before replacing it with another body.
However, it was convenient for Lin Huang to camp out and wait due to its flaws. Regardless of where the black mist formed, he would be there next to it.
Before using the Provisional Combat Strength Upgrade Card, it would have been difficult for him to kill the evil spirit despite being a camper because it could react to his attacks in time. However, after achieving an upgrade by another three levels, Lin Huang's speed was so swift to the point that the evil spirit could no longer catch sight of him. Therefore, being a camper and killing it would become much easier. The evil spirit did not have enough time to respond right after it was revived.
Noticing the black mist moving away from him, Lin Huang remained calm and leisurely followed after it.
Despite traversing the sky, the formation of the black mist did not slow down. The new body was being formed while it moved.
"It seems like I guessed it correctly. As long as the body dies, a new body will automatically replace it. The entire process is out of its control." Bloody noticed that as well. It then whispered to Lin Huang, "Otherwise, it would've extended the duration needed for the body replacement process until you lost the combat strength increment effect since the process wouldn't be interrupted by any external factor."
"That's good. Since it does not have control over it, it's easier for me to just camp out." Lin Huang smirked.
In just a short while, the evil spirit's body was formed again. Impressively, the body formed was the victim who had helped them figure out who the murderer was. It was Li Jingbiao's substitute.
The evil spirit with the chubby face gradually opened its eyes, shooting Lin Huang a deadly stare. At almost the same time as Lin Huang hurled his sword forward, the black glow in its eyes started to grow. Its brutal self-combusting force caused its plump body to expand as if it was a balloon.
Lin Huang backed off to where Kylie was a few kilometers away. He took out his Dark Mirror again, producing a defensive shield five meters in diameter. Kylie and he were enveloped by the shield.
The evil spirit's plump body eventually collapsed as its body could no longer sustain the force from within. A black energy was emitted as well, releasing a dazzling white glow that resembled the sunlight and spread everywhere.
In less than a minute, a tsunami-like white glow had engulfed the entire region, covering more than 100 kilometers in circumference. The same thing happened again and the burnt ground was lit up.
Aside from the Dark Mirror's defensive sphere being in pristine condition, not a single item on the ground was left unharmed.
As the white glow faded, Lin Huang removed the Dark Mirror, looking in the direction where the evil spirit's self-combustion had happened. He shook his head and laughed. "It's decisive. It decided to go for self-combustion, knowing that it doesn't have the chance to counterattack."
"It's actually a wise decision. Unfortunately, you're the one it encountered. Within a certain distance, the force that resulted from its self-combustion was actually capable of killing those whose abilities range from black gold-level to imperial-level. However, your Dark Mirror is capable of defending against its self-combustion. If this happened to any of them who had yet to get to imperial-level, most probably they'd have been killed." Bloody's voice was heard again.
"It was just bad luck that it met me." Lin Huang chuckled.
After the white glow faded, the black mist was quickly created again. The evil spirit switched to another body again.
It saw Lin Huang as soon as it opened its eyes. However, it did not choose to go for self-combustion this time.
In just one hit, Lin Huang chopped its body in half with ease.
"Did I just kill it? Wasn't it able to respond?"
As soon as the thought flashed through Lin Huang's mind, Bloody's voice was heard. "Run!"
Lin Huang immediately fled without asking why.
Right when the evil spirit's body was chopped in half, the black glow in its left eye suddenly radiated. The next moment, a white glow appeared abruptly, engulfing the corpse which had been chopped in half.
The white glow spread towards Lin Huang in just a blink of an eye. Lin Huang initially wanted to go to Kylie. Right then, he had no choice but to activate his Dark Mirror and cover himself.
As the white glow passed through the Dark Mirror and continued spreading towards Kylie at a breakneck speed, Lin Huang immediately recalled Kylie into its card form.
Seeing the white glow had again, engulfed almost everything surrounding him, Lin Huang's face turned pale. "It's really evil. It managed to activate self-combustion even after its death."
His back was drenched in sweat. His t-shirt was all wet. Even if he was a fraction of a second slower, he might have been killed by the evil spirit's white glow and could have possibly lost Kylie.
"Encountering such an opponent, you have to be extra careful." Bloody's voice was deep.
"I must kill it!" Lin Huang was incensed as he realized that he had almost been defeated.
Seeing its body being formed again, Lin Huang decided to stand right next to the corpse without fear.
As soon as its body was formed, the evil spirit gave Lin Huang an insulting smile. Still, it did not go for self-combustion immediately.
Lin Huang killed it without a moment of hesitation. This time, the evil spirit's self-combustion became creepier. It activated it just as it was killed.
However, Lin Huang was prepared for it. He did not even bother to flee and immediately activated his Dark Mirror at his original position. The defensive sphere shrank to only a meter in diameter. He was at the center of the explosion and managed to overcome the evil spirit's self-combustion.
Regardless of what the evil spirit did, Lin Huang did not give up camping. He overcame all the explosions.
A few of the explosions tore the defensive sphere of the Dark Mirror apart and even penetrated through the defenses of the bloody wings, causing injuries to Lin Huang's body. However, they were quickly healed by Lin Huang's Divine Regeneration.
By doing so, Lin Huang managed to kill his opponent 17 times.
Witnessing the 17th body of the evil spirit self-combust and disappear, Lin Huang then saw the black mist gradually appear at the ruins again. Lin Huang frowned.
After several moments, he could no longer shift his gaze.
The black mist did not apparition into a human figure this round. A monstrous face gradually formed instead.
Despite not being completely formed, Lin Huang could recognize it as the semi-transparent monster that had killed the two immortal-level rank-9s at Chenxing Building.
"Its true body has been revealed!" Lin Huang smirked, staring deadly at the monster which was about to fully form.

PART TWO

1. Mirror, Mirror from the Mall

In the living room where my family and I usually would stay and watch TV together before going to bed — that it seems I almost forgot to tell earlier — there hung a vintage mirror located in between of the kitchen area and the said entertainment leisure, on the first floor. It was an inheritance from my wife's grandmother. A quite old mirror with the age of thirty to forty years; an object that had been alive for decades and more, according to its origin told by my wife. And yet time arrived when Annalise decided to get rid of it completely, it was what she said early November, due to its outspreading rot.

My wife raised this matter only once, the time she got home from work. She said we needed to buy a new one, a same-sized mirror, since the outer material of what we own had started to decompose. 

Still, no one can't erase our history using this old mirror. For years it had been helpful to us in our everyday lives, to see our own reflection before we face the world outside. Every now and then we'd look at it before I bring my daughter to the elementary school; while, on another social aspect and professional, my wife herself had to see if what she wears looks appropriate before commuting to work. Personally, speaking generally, what I learned from mirrors is that they help us take a look at ourselves. Our outside appearances; introspectively, even. They help us to look— knowing it is fundamental makes a person aware of oneself, before one shows himself to the world. 

I remember back then, when I wasn't working under a corporation yet, that I didn't care much of what and how I looked to other people and myself. As a college student — a Philosophy major, in particular — I only wore what clothes were available inside my cabinet. I didn't bother dressing fancy, nor think if I should buy some in the supermall. I was a college student without a job, only minimal amount of stipend from my scholarship. I had to deal with what I had. At the time it was simpler times, really. So simple I had no memorable moments from my college life, in all honesty. The next thing I knew, after every requirement was told by our professors and done, I just found myself I had entered the business world until the time of my retirement. 

Unlike in college — my studying years — the manager (during my job as a Quality Control Assistant) required us employees to suit appropriately during business hours. In truth, that's been obvious to almost all employees ever since. Aside from behaving ethical to your fellow workers, it is a mandatory code for every corporate business: wearing appropriate. In every job, in every position, of course you have to wear something that won't turn off your boss, co-workers, even the customers. You have to appear to be pleasing to the eyes, or else you'll either get rejected or fired. In the business world, to us men, wearing a suit and tie is as important as breakfast. It is primary. One can't just wear something indecent and expect to be accepted or promoted in a company. You, and you alone, are required to belong in the standard. Though aside all this information, I only have one point to clarify: in the real world — be it business or plain social — it's essential to know the clothes you wear. To know how you look. And then, for it to be recognized you have to have a mirror. 

Going back, eventually, our old mirror in the living room was replaced. 

The replacement began when my wife bought a new one from the Department Store a week ago, when we visited the supermall. I, as the only man in the family, had to take in charge of holding the new item until we reach home. At my age, I still seemed to handle fragile things carefully. I also had to set it up myself in the living room— I unhung the vintage one, put it on the house's attic, and replaced it with the new. Then as for its outcome, I saw Annalise and Kiki clapped their hands and smiled in delight. "This is classy," said my daughter as a comment, pertaining to the mirror sold from the mall. As for my wife, she said that the newly bought mirror made our house a little anew. 

Almost a week gone by after the replacement. Today is Friday, and again, my usual everyday scenario during mornings reoccurred. I — since my wife and daughter had personal errands of their own — once again was alone with my thoughts. A time without any interaction with anyone. And speaking of places, today I didn't feel like staying on our little balcony until noon. Instead I stayed on the first floor, in the living room, and there I watched typical TV morning talk shows. 

I got bored at 9 o'clock. 

But a minute after the said time, as I sat on the sofa feeding my eyes of the appearances of the host and the casted celebrities, feeding my ears of their verbal interactions, abruptly I heard a voice from behind. 

Calling my name. 

Although, it didn't give a chill nor did my body hairs had risen because of it. The sound I heard sounded nothing shuddery, not something that makes a person worry about. Nothing frightening. As a matter of fact, it sounded like a voice of an old friend; that it intrigued me enough I had to stand from the sofa in order to find out who it was. Just about right by then, I began my search— I stepped my feet; I took a look through the curtained windows, to see if someone is just messing around with me. And yet I found no one but the plants playfully dancing by the wind. 

I was about to ignore the voice; about to ascend upstairs by the time I turned off the TV and the electric fan, about to just go to the bedroom where I can take nap until twelve. But again, for the second time it called me out. 

My name. 

Then, after my name, there entered an unusual atmosphere of something right here in the living room. That, in a sense as if it couldn't be explained thoroughly through words, no matter how hard I try to dissect its staggering yet uncanny quality, that something felt real. And no, similar to the voice that was calling my name, the atmosphere — or should I say aura — wasn't anything scary nor shivering. It just felt like real, existing. And that, if I could try explaining it, it might be simply stated like this: 

What I had been perceiving somewhere — here, as of now in the living room — is something, because it is not nothing. 

And that something, as I observed while walking, had its most subtle uproar from the place where hung the new mirror. The mirror my wife bought from the supermall. 

To inspect further I went to stand in front of the said mirror. I looked at my reflection; I saw the same old me— with eyes deeper than when I was in twenties, a receding hair turning all white, a nose not so flat but not so pointed either, two tiny moles near my left and right temple, and lastly an expressionless mouth. Three years passed since my retirement, yet still I looked like the same old me: a rickety old man. Obviously, nothing new here. 

For minutes I stood and waited. I waited for something to happen; I waited for something that might appear in front of the mirror. Be it monsters, old mythical creatures, or what else— I couldn't care less of what would materialize in the newly bought mirror. I had been alive for about forty years now. I had seen worse things in the world, either on TV or personally: a suicide of a friend, the stomach-aching effects of poverty to a nation, children dying due to malnourishment and parents neglect, people killed incidentally by policemen and criminals, a deadly virus spreading across the whole wide world, and so much more. That, at this point in my life, I believe there isn't any horror that would make my flesh turn nor burn. 

Still, nothing that can be seen by human eyes appeared in front of me. Not an image on the mirror; not anything. 

But something remained— the aura existing here where my family and I would bond as one; here, on the first floor of our house, as if nothing felt the same as before. At least, not anymore. 

So I let it go. 

At least, I tried to. 

Yet for the following days, this uneasy feeling, this sensation of thinking about something I couldn't seem to comprehend nor reach, it remained. Lingering. Every morning — when usually I'm alone, while my family were found in the functions of society — I could sense the indifference to normalcy of the mirror. The voice faded away, but the other did not. 

Which, of course, I tried to communicate about and wouldn't want to deal with it alone. I raised this issue twice to my wife, Annalise, during the time of evening. 

"Something changed in the house," I told her. Of which, of course, she only asked what. But I didn't know how to answer that— even I myself couldn't understand what that something meant. So I just said, "Ever since we replaced our old mirror, something has changed." 

Though every morning and night, as I raised the said issue, at most times she seems either busy or tired. To me, my wife acted as if it wasn't a big deal at all. 

On the other hand, telling it to my daughter might only disturb her flesh and mind than I. That, if I did tell her, Kiki could get frightened by the mirror. Or worse, even frightened by the house itself— like how she used to react to manananggal, kapre, aswang, and any other Philippine mythical, monstrous creatures. So, of course, knowing most kids in her age get scared easily to supernatural occurrences, I came to a decision not to raise this strange circumstance to my daughter. In the end, I decided to keep it to myself. A final decision. 

So it went on. 

During the mornings, I found out that my presence couldn't bear spending a minute or two in the living room anymore. Especially, when I'm alone. At the very least, I pretended that I don't need various entertainments found on TV. As much as possible, I only walk and hang around the first floor of our home when I'm with my daughter, my wife, or both. For being there by myself made me feel at unease. 

Our morning routine didn't change though. Of course, life went on. Always, life goes on. But as soon as I'm done bringing my daughter to school, instead of being present on the first floor even for a minute, I'd rather go directly to our little balcony — all the time, unhesitant — whenever I return home. I'd turn on the blind eye. I'd stay nowhere near the mirror; I couldn't seem to look at myself. And yes, I too had stopped watching the television. Instead, I spent my free time alone on our little balcony, and worked my way to use my alone time there. 

This one and the same scenario occurred until late December. After my wife didn't bother listening to me, I didn't raise the problem to anyone anymore. I didn't even dwell inquiring the Department Store where she had bought it. I just let it be. The same as how I spend most of my days retired. 

But even one, who claimed to stand during the disastrous events — catastrophes — has a personal inevitable limit. At this point, in due course I reached that limit. 

That one weekday morning, December 17, it seemed that I couldn't run from it anytime longer. I had to face it, the incomprehensible. Like the old quote, saying, "Face the music." In time I had to face the feeling of unknown; I had to confront the odd feeling of being with something. Or else, to simply say it worse, this disturbance I had been feeling for weeks would linger until the time of my own death. I had to face it, I said to myself. I had to face the music. By all means, I had to face it and not the other way around. In order to retrieve something, an aspect of my being, that I had lost. 

So, that weekday morning, I stood in front of the mirror and looked at my reflection.

It was an entire hour later than the time the production team expected everyone to arrive. Ji Yi wasn't sure what was happening on set at the moment, but she knew they'd probably started shooting with a replacement for the role of Little Nine.
Yet, she figured she would find out for herself what was really going on before she gave up completely. Who knows, the production team may not have found a suitable replacement... Ji Yi stood at the entrance to the set, took a deep breath then walked in.
To her astonishment, the staff responsible for Ji Yi not only didn't blame her for being late, but told her that something happened to the director, so the scene was rescheduled to shoot at one in the afternoon.
Ji Yi, who had been worrying just a second ago, was instantly at ease when she heard the staff member's words.
After Ji Yi had her make up done, she dealt with the wounds on her wrists.
She was afraid that her bandages would be exposed during that afternoon's filming, so she specifically asked the stylist if she could wear a thick jade bracelet to cover it up.
Ji Yi stood in front of the mirror checking her costume up and down to make sure there wasn't a single thing out of place. Then she found an empty room to go over the script.
Ji Yi memorized her lines long ago. After repeating the lines to herself two times over, she saw that it was still early, so she put the script down and shut her eyes to get some rest.
The break room was public. Not long after, other actors came in for a break after getting their makeup done.
The silent room became quite noisy.
Ji Yi sat in the corner where nobody could bother her. Though she didn't open her eyes, she couldn't manage to fall sleep.
The two young women in maid costumes sitting behind Ji Yi whispered to each other.
She was far away, but though they deliberately spoke quietly, Ji Yi could still clearly hear them.
"Did you hear? It was the assistant director's idea to push back this afternoon's filming."
"For real? After being on the production team for over two months now, the assistant director has been the strictest. Why did he drop the ball all of a sudden?"
"Yeah! Director Liang's staff mentioned it over lunch... I only just found out that our assistant director is the director for that TV drama "Encounter".
Ji Yi wasn't initially interested in what the two women talked about earlier; everything went in one ear and out the other. But near the end, her interest was instantly piqued.
Wasn't "Encounter" the popular TV drama from the start of the year? They said "Encounter" was the director's first piece. The filming techniques were unique and the drama gained a lot of hype. It was an overnight sensation!
After Ji Yi woke up from her coma, she paid close attention to this director. She thought he was really talented, and she really wanted the chance to work with him, but this director kept an unusually low profile. He had never been interviewed by the media, so since Ji Yi couldn't get any information on him, she eventually gave up on him. She never imagined that now, they'd actually be on the same set...

Ugh, I honestly can't! First, Leon seeing my practically naked then I find out that I've been fucking a guy who's in the same gym class as me! 

I'm officially done with everything. I'm buying a snowsuit and moving to Alaska. I sigh as I braid my little sister's hair. 

"Nevy, you keep sighing into my hair." I give a small smile. 

"I'm sorry, V." She shakes her head, slightly. 

"It keeps my head warm, I'm good." My smile widens as Victoria and I rock to the music playing in my room. 

Victoria rocks Gina with us as the little baby sits in her lap. I beam at the two cutest little girls ever. They are inseparable. 

"Nevy! Sam is cheating!" Victoria jumps at Nico's loud voice. I giggle along with Gina. 

We watch as Nico run into my room and stops at the foot of my bed with an indifferent Sammy being dragged along. 

I smile at him, knowing he could've easily stopped Nico or remove his grasp. 

Aww, what a great big brother! Nico throws Sammy's arm from his grip with disgust and pointed a finger in his direction. 

"He cheated in Mario Kart!" Sammy sighs, playing with something around his wrist. 

I blink once, then twice, then three times. Then I stop everything I'm doing to rush to his side. 

"Oh my gosh, Sammy!" Nico nods with a frown. 

"Yeah, it's true he's a dirty cheater!" I take hold of his wrist and stare at it. 

When I know for sure what it is, I jump up and down, squealing. Nico furrows his eyebrows. 

"So is he in trouble now?" I smile a big one down at him. 

"Sammy, you're actually wearing it!" He shrugs, glancing at his wrist. 

"Well, you did make it for me." He tries to act all cool, but I notice his cheeks tint a light pink. I smile. 

"Hey! Where's my bracelet!" Nico whines, tugging on my shirt. I furrow my eyebrows. 

"How come Sammy only gets one?" I bend down to Nico's height.

"Victoria and Gina one too," I turn to the girls. 

"Right ladies!" They both nod, raising their wrist to display colorful bracelets. Nico pouts, crossing his arms. 

"Where's mine?" I lift an eyebrow. 

"You said you didn't want one 'cause they're too girly for a manly man like you." Sammy covers his mouth to try to hide his amusement. 

"Oh." I nod, standing up. 

"And Sammy, you don't have to wear it. We both know the first try always look the worse." He shakes his head, staring at the poorly crocheted bracelet. 

"It's the thought that counts, right." I cover my mouth as I feel instant pride for the man that my little brother will become. Nico scowls. 

"You still cheated and I don't have a bracelet, some thought!" My pride suddenly changes to disappointment. We all look at Nico as he waves his fist around. 

Ima needs to work on that one though.

I close my locker after putting away my things. 

"Sup, Nevy." I turn towards the voice, Kahlil. 

"Hi, Kahlil." He gives me a big smile. The usual teenage chaos changes to softy chatter and whispers. 'Oh my gosh, he's back.' We turn as people clear a path. 

"What's going on?" He took the words right out of my mouth. 'I can't believe he's back in school.' When the person everyone is talking about grazes on by I freeze. 

Leon! He's a motherfucking high schooler?! What the actual hell! I quickly look away, focusing back on Kahlil.

I don't have time for this. Ugh, why do all these things keep happening to me!? 

"Anyway," He gives the chaos one last glance before looking at me. 

"Do you usually go to homecoming?" I push my glasses up my face. 

"Not really." I don't have anyone to go with. He smiles, holding out his arm. I take it, with a soft giggle and slight blush. 

"As friends, this is going to be our first hangout that's longer than five minutes." I smile. 

"Actually, eight since you made me late for class that one time." He chuckles. 

"What are friends for?" We push through the sea of people to wash up on the shore of my English class. 

I thank him for taking me to class and he laughs, saying it's no problem. When he's gone, I left to think back on Adriano and Leon. 

God, my life is a mess.

Sitting in my usual spot, outside, I pick at my lunch and think over Kahlil's invite. 

Should I really go? I mean, he's wonderful and sweet but I typically stray away from anything after school. 

Unless something's mandatory, I'm not going. That's how it is, how it always was... but I really like Kahlil. 

And he's considerate and didn't pry about anything having to do with my knuckles since the accident in the closet. 

It's almost as if it didn't happen.. and I appreciate that he doesn't mind me having a secret or two. 

I bite my lip, pushing my glasses up. 

The warm wind kisses my stress away as I close my eyes and listen to the soft chatter of the few outside. 

"Hey, Nevaeh." My eyes flutter open at the welcoming voice. I smile softly as a pink tint brands my cheeks. 

"Em, hi." He smiles, taking a seat next to me. I take this time to try to voice my thoughts.

"Okay, with the whole dance and everything, I don't usually attend them. I've actually never been to one. And don't get the wrong idea, I think it'd be fun if we go together. I would love spending more time with you. You're great, really, but..." I stop, slowing down as a smirk graces his features. 

My face turns to a darker pink. I lower my gaze, playing with my bangs. 'And... I don't know what I'm trying to say..' My voice slowly fades. He does his signature move, pushing up my glasses, never failing to gain my shocked and flustered attention. 

Then his fingers brush against mine as he runs them along my bangs to catch a full glimpse of my face. He smiles softly at me. 

"Let's go." I watch him carefully as his smile stretches across his face, making it appear more boyish. 

This causes a chain reaction, making a smile of my own form. 

Damn, this boy is contagious. 

"We can go and have fun, just us two, no one else. Alright?" We both smile as if we're crazy. 

"We don't even have to stay the whole time." His smile slips into smirk territory. 

"Plus, who wants to stay in a hot gym for four hours anyway."

My breath comes out in heavy puffs as I hold my body up with my arms then push down. 

Sweat drips onto the floor as I stop then sit up and grab my water bottle. 

"So you train as a girl but fight as a guy," My eyes snap to the voice then glare. He chuckles, crossing his arms.

"Interesting." Those eyes graze over my body causing unwanted memories. I shift awkwardly then stand up. 

"No piercings today?" I roll my eyes, grabbing my towel to wipe off the sweat. 

"I don't wear them when I train or fight, dumbass." I sneer, moving toward the weights. He chuckles again. I glare at the ground. 

God, what is he doing here anyway? After I get grab my weights and get into squatting position I sigh when he's still here. 

Standing back up, I put the weight down then turn to him with my hands on my hips. 

"If you want Coach he's down that hall." I nod my head to the left where a hallway is. 

Then I go back to what I was doing. After a while, I get frustrated and throw the weights to the floor. 

I grunt before glaring at the mirror.

"Why the fuck are you still here?" He just stares, unfazed, with that stupid smirk on his dumbly attractive face. 

We just met and I already don't like him. His eyes piss me the fuck off. 

After another glare, I storm out of the room and go to my dressing room. 

Just as I was about to slam the door shut a foot comes between it. I growl at the shoe. 

"Someone's extra fierce this morning." I cross my arms, trying to calm down while he comes into my room. 

"Why do you keep following me, stalker." I instantly feel naked in my sports bra and Nike compression shorts as he closes us in the small room. 

Crossing my arms, my lips form a thin line. He smirks. 

"Of all the laws I've broken stalking isn't one." I roll my eyes, releasing a puff of air. 

"Oh my, what a bad boy." Dropping my arms, I use them to lead against my dresser. He furrows his eyebrows with pseudo distaste. 

"Um, no, I prefer criminal. Thank you very much." Despite myself, I crack a smile, using my hand to shield my laughter. I immediately regret when those eyes sparkle and gleam with mischief, the similar sparkle that I once loved. 

I cough then look away with a frown. He lifts a brow, moving closer. 

"You got some sorta vendetta towards me or something." After a glare, I sigh, giving up. 

He's right, I should stop. It's tiring to constantly be this way, plus it's not his fault they look so much like— 

"Fine, I'll let up, ButterCup." His eye switches. 

"Did you just call me ButterCup?" I tilt my head back and stare at my upside down face in the mirror. 

"Isn't that what I said, ButterCup?" I glance at him through the mirror just in time to see his advancing figure. 

Sticking my foot out, I jump up to sit on the dresser as I glare at him. 

He pauses then his eyes find my thigh then follow it down to where the toe of my shoe is touching the crotch of his jeans. 

I force a shiver back and my gaze up as I grip onto the edge of the dresser. 

"Any closer and your chance at kids are gone." He smirks, an easy chuckle brushing past his lips. 

"Who said I wanted any?" There's complete and utter silence as we stare at each other. 

Finally, I roll my eyes, putting my foot down. He takes this as an invitation to move closer. 

Amusement is still clear on his face as he opens his mouth to say something then stops when his eyes catch something. 

"I thought you didn't wear piercings during workouts?" He smirks as his gaze travels to mine. 

I frown then glance down to discover two things poking through my bra... I glare going to smack Leon. 

"Don't look where you're not supposed to." He easily blocks it causing more amusement from him and irritation from me. 

After, I avert my eyes and cross my arms to conceal the traitors. 

God, fucking hormones. 

"What are you doing here, Leon?" He crosses his arms, mocking me but instead of annoying me it shifts my attention to his biceps. 

I curse myself, looking away. 

"Just checking in on my replacement." I furrow my eyebrows. 

"Replacement? You said that when we first met, what replacement?" He chuckles, looking towards the ceiling. 

"Ah, yes, back when you were boy Nevy." I scowl at him. 

"Just answer the question." He nods, a smirk still painted on his lips.

"Well, back before I was locked up I was number one around here." He chucks his hand in my directions. 

"But it seems Nico Grim took that title." He furrows his eyebrows, shaking his head. 

"What type of name is Nico Grim anyway? Were you high when you thought that up?" I shrug, scooting forward on the dresser. 

"Maybe." 

Yes, so very high. 

Nico was upset for a whole day because Gina ate the last cookies n' cream Pop-Tarts, nothing would cheer him up either.

It was really late and I was stressing over some test that was tomorrow then 

I started thinking about him and thought: 'Poor Nico. Grim, grim Nico... Nico Grim!'.

I was so high I called Coach and told him that was my official name. 

It was both an embarrassing and funny moment in my life. I come back to the present when I hear Leon's soft chuckling. 

"You had to be pretty high to come up with that." I nod, noticing a stool under the dresser. 

Putting my feet on it, I scoot farther back until my back hits the mirror. Leon smirks. 

"So no piercings, no costume," I roll my eyes at that but he just keeps on going. 

"And no panties?" He smirks, lifting an eyebrow. 

"Nice." I glance down at my open legs and compression shorts. I smirk, glancing at him through my eyelashes then grip the waistband and pull. 

"These are my panties." I let go, letting it slap on my hip.

I decided to go to this fair my boyfriend had said to check out before he left to go drag someone named Luz there with his sister. I made sure my cloak was obstructing my face before crossing the entryway. I had to admit that the fair was impressive. I looked around the stalls for a spell scroll booth and finally found one. 

You see I was looking for a particular scroll that could break a curse my older twin brother was under. Normally I could break the curses but this time I need the scroll to break the curse. I finally found it and swiftly walked to the front desk to pay. On the way there I bumped into someone and dropped my scroll. "Sorry about that I should've moved"they said while handing me my scroll that I dropped. 

The person was a girl with really short black hair ,blue and white shirt with overall shorts over black leggings and sneakers. While I looked at her I noticed that her blood was half- witch and her magic had been sealed away. I quickly pulled my hood down more and replied"thank you" and grabbed my scroll then continued to the front desk to pay for it. After buying the scroll I searched for my boyfriend Edric. 

As I was looking I found a magic mirror stall and looked for a replacement for the one of mine that broke. I had just bought the mirror when I saw Edric, Emira and the person I bumped into who I assume is Luz  with a sad look on her face leave the fair. I followed them but in the shadows and peeked at her mind for the cause of her sadness. I wish I could help cure Eda and Lilith's curse but I can't find the scroll.  I smiled and immediately knew of the curse she spoke of. 

Luz's problem was that only I had the cure to that curse. I was caught staring by Edric and we locked eyes, silently agreeing to meet tonight. We quickly went back to what we were doing so no one noticed. I got out of the shadows and walked by them while it looked like they were getting ice cream to cheer Luz up. When I was walking I heard an extra set of footsteps, so I went down an alley and tried to lose the person. 

When I was sure I lost them I went the long way to an alleyway and discretely teleported home. Once i was sure I was home I was greeted at the sight of my older twin but cursed brother, Ace. "Did you find the cure?" he asked. I replied "yes I did, and I found a half-witch who needs a cure for a certain owl curse".  He smirked and said "then let's cure their curses, it's time to reveal ourselves".

Luz is trying to find a way back to her mom and cure Eda and Lilith's curse.  But when she encounters a mysterious figure, could she be the key to both? Read to find out what happens! DISCLAIMER: I DONT own The Owl House I'm just writing a book on the characters.

 The Pope was immediately angry at not being able to even say what he wanted.

Him. A man who was revered by all humans and feared by beasts for thousands of years, was finding it hard not to slap the disrespectful woman in front of him.

The respect and adulation he enjoyed, had turned him into a beast who only knew how to please his every whim. After all, what was immortality without indulging oneself every now and then?

"Didn't you hear me? Are you freaking deaf? Get out! My son is off limits to people like you. I'll make sure to tell him to walk the other way should he meet you on the street." Diana Kaz's loud voice kept attracting more and more people to the place.

The Pope kept looking around wishing that she could talk a little bit lower. He could see people pointing at him and could hear distant murmurs that made him crazy just thinking about it.

A passerby pointing at the Pope said, "It's not enough for a decrepit old man like himself to enter that place, but must he also harass the poor women working there?"

A woman near the passerby said, "You don't say! Just how big is his appetite? Can't he see that she's way out of his league?"

Vein after vein popped on the Pope's forehead as he started sweating rivulets from anger.

The Pope then thought with gritted teeth, "To think it all backfired. Well, she's forced me. I'll take matters into my own hands. I'll use 'that' then."

A tiny mirror then appeared in the Pope's hand. He then stealthily turned it towards Diana Kaz so that her reflection could be seen on it.

"Mirror Duplicate."

The incensed Diana then became tame like nothing had ever happened.

What had happened was that the Diana that everyone around was seeing had been replaced by a mirror duplicate and the replacement had happened in an instant, so fast that even the Pope, the owner of the 'mirror companion soul' himself couldn't see it.

It was a copy that obeyed every word of the caster. A mere puppet.

As for the real body, it was safe and sound somewhere inside the mirror.

"You know what you have to do?" The Pope said.

"Yes, master. It'll be done according to your wishes." The Copy Diana Kaz said with the same earnest smile her counterpart had in the beginning of the conversation.

Those around who were waiting for a good show were confused after seeing them have a normal conversation after all that noise. They soon lost all interest and moved on to live their lives as if nothing had happened.

In Damian's room, all four of them were having a heated conversation.

"How am I going to explain you two to my mother. A baby wolfman and his grandfather. I previously told her that I'd go hunt in the Dark continent. The best case scenario is that she thinks that I kidnapped you guys and forced you to be my pets..." Damian said.

At hearing the word 'pet', Black Fang felt like he had been repeatedly stabbed in the heart.

Black Fang angrily thought, "That damn Anansi. He had to choose to reincarnate in a wolf's body."

At the end of the day, wolf or not he was Damon's past reincarnation.

"Someone is entering the house. It should be your mother." Xerxes said.

Damian jumped off the bed and then left saying, "It's better if you appear after I have explained everything."

Black Fang nodded.

...but no one noticed the little wolf cub that had followed Damian out of the room.

"You're home early, mom. What happened?" Damian said.

Diana Kaz (Copy) looked like she had a lot on her mind. After a moment, she said, "Well, I've been thinking about what you should be really doing in the future. There are a lot of eyes on us now that your powers have awakened. You're the genius of all time and I am powerless to help you. Sigh."

Damian seemed touched, he said, "Mom, you do not have to worry about that.I understand where you're coming from, but things are complicated...too complicated..."

She seemed interested, "Complicated? How so?"

"Well ,I don't know if I should tell you...but if there's someone who must know...it is you..." His voice trailed off, he continued, "Mom, I am not what you think I am...I am...not your s..."

Before he could finish his phrase, Lil Wayne, the wolf cub bit on Diana's leg, which was snapped in half.

A bloody scene of gore then appeared before Damian's eyes. He couldn't understand how or why all of this was happening.

Damian seemed frozen in place. He had lost every little strength his body could muster.

As for Diana Kaz, the copy, her scream came a beat too late for it to be believable, but the clueless Damian was buying it.

The next moment, Black Fang and Xerxes materialized next to Damian.
