This is the end of the first volume. It was mainly an introduction for the main cast, exploring their motivations for playing Classmancers. To spice it up, the finale had some action which gave a taste of how a competitive match looks like.

The second volume will continue with the entry exam, showing how Lars and Julia fare and who ultimately makes it into the club. The draft for the volume is already done, so it's all about proofreading and editing now. Starting with the chapter release tomorrow, I'll resume my usual schedule of releasing one chapter a week.

Hi everyone,

Firstly, I just want to give a seriously sincere apology. I read a really heartbreaking review just now where a reader said they were giving up on the story because of my slow updates. For all the early readers, most of you know I have always been slow on updates due to juggling my studies and work which were always a priority to me.

I have been busy recently working on publishing the first volume of "A Gatekeeper and the Celestial Sovereign" as a Paperback/Hardback with illustrations (proofreading, editing, typesetting etc). 
I have been working with an amazing artist named Rodrigo Gil Chavez who has made some amazing art for the upcoming physical Book.

 I really wanted to make something special for all my amazing readers who have stayed with me despite my slow updates to commemorate the end of the first arc which is only two chapters away.

Because I've been working on that and I was waiting on a good time to announce it, I have been holding back on publishing more chapters.
I feel awful though for making you all wait and for having a lot of you disappointed in me.
So I will publish the last two chapters of this arc/volume this Saturday at 10am GMT.

"Yeah, I did. After graduating from high school, I went to college in Seoul and majored in creative writing. It was not one of the top universities, but I had a good life at that time because I could do what I enjoy doing."

"I have been paying for the debt until now. I think I have 30 million won left by now. Oh, I talked with the general affairs manager the other day about it. He said I would get paid 1.6 million won per month, and I can take the amount of basic living expenses out of it before it is seized. I think I can save some money then."

"I know. So I was going to enter their e-mail address instead of physical addresses with phone numbers. I started collecting the necessary information and writing some stuff already like the history and path that our school took so far and news from our friends, etc. I still have the writings with me. It will cost 2-3 million won to complete it but I used that money to pay my rent because I was about to be evicted. I became an animal to our friends."
Jae-Sik eventually burst into tears.

Clark taps the table with his fingers while his other hand is on his face while his index finger is on his lips, trying to look like he's thinking.

"Well?" Mrs. Corsilla asks.

Dona smirks while looking at Clark with a blush on her face, 'Oh my god, you're so hot, Mr. White!' she thought as she drinks the iced lemon tea the moment it arrived.

"Hm, let me check if you can take good care of Cj," Clarks looks at Mr. Rogers who carries a thick envelope.

"What is that?" Mrs. Corsilla asks with a bothered look on her face, "I can tell you every reason why you should give us Cj!"

Clark opens the envelope and looks at Mrs. Corsilla, "Okay, tell me."

Dona smiles and butts in, "I'm a capable woman who can take good care of a child. I'm a well-known actress and--"

"Shut your mouth, Dona," Mrs. Corsilla covers her daughter's mouth.

Dona just rolls her eyes.

"We, are financially capable of raising a child. We can send him to school. Give him anything he wants. He is free to do whatever he wants to, Mr. White. And we can give him a complete set of parents," Mrs. Corsilla smirks, thinking that she hit the spot.

 Clark just smiled and gave the envelope full of money, "Is this enough?" 

Mrs. Corsilla and Dona open their eyes widely while staring at the amount of money.

Dona shakes her mother's arms while whispering, "It's enough! It's too much!"

But Mrs. Cordilla's eyebrow flinched, "Are you trying to buy us? This won't work! We care for Cj! You can't take good care of him! You're the reason why my daughter died!" Mrs. Corsilla stands up while yelling.

Everyone else in the restaurant looks at them.

"Now, isn't this an attitude worthy for claiming that you can take good care of my son?" Mr. White sips his iced lemon tea.

"Mr. White, we can assure you that we can raise Cj well. Look at this, if we take him, you can live your life as you wanted. You don't have to worry about a kid. You can live your life as a single man and even get married," Dona said while leaning forward, holding her hands to squish her breast out.

Clarks looks at her, "Well then, I have a proof that you can't take good care of CJ like Kirin," he looks at Mr. Rogers who handed him a folder.

Mrs. Corsilla and Dona look at each other, "Now, we said that we don't need money," Mrs. Corsilla said while gesturing to put the folder away.

"As I have said, it's a proof, not money," Clark stares at them like they are just ants that he can stomp on, "Why don't you take a look at it."

Mrs. Corsilla and Dona suddenly felt shivers run down their spine as they open the folder.

There they saw Kirin's photos.

She's full of bruises and wounds.

"That's the day she called me because she's pregnant. I thought it's blackmailing to make me be responsible for the child, but she said it's from you- her family. You hurt her to discipline her, and you're expecting me to let Cj fall in your hands?" Mr. White said.

Mrs. Corsilla saw a paper with hand-writings of Kirin after the photos of her.

"That's her letter, a testimony of how you abused her and left her alone. You did that to her because she's a child of your husband's mistress, right, Mrs. Corsilla?"

After the letter, Kirin has her signature and her I.D. as proof. 

"She died because her health was not good. I tried to keep her alive. We've tried everything but she can't get well. You neglected her. You didn't raise her the way a family should."

Mrs. Corsilla grinds her teeth as her veins pop out of anger.

Dona felt embarrassed and tried to act since Mr. White hasn't mentioned her name for Kirin's death.

"Mr. White! I love my sister! I tried to help her but she was afraid and she ran away from me," Dona cried.

Mrs. Corsilla looks at Dona with disbelief and she slapped her, "How ungrateful! I raised you better than that kid! I gave you everything you wanted! I removed Kirin from the family to make you the apple of the eye of your father yet you're leaving me behind!" She screamed and pulled Dona's hair.

Mr. White just stares at them, "I'll let you go if you stop bothering me and CJ. But once I hear that you, even just your shadow, appears in front of Cj, you'll live the rest of your lives in jail. I know what you wanted, money, but you refused," Clark stands up.

"Of course, if you took it, you can't ask for money again. But if you have Cj, you can ask me non-stop."

Clark took money from his wallet and put it on the table for the bill.

"Miss Dona, I hope you can make a public apology for slapping Sheen, or else your whole career is done for."

Mrs. Corsilla stops pulling Dona's hair and slapped her again from what Clark said, "You're ruining  what we worked hard for!" 

Dona just stares blankly, her mother really abused Kirin, but she's still being abused.

'I wish I'm dead,' Dona thought while her mother slaps her.

Clark just looks at them in disgust.

Both of them are losing their minds.

Dona is known for sleeping with directors just to get casting.

Mrs. Corsilla's known for illegal gambling.

Clark's blood just boils while thinking that they want to get CJ from him.

He took a blind eye the first time they asked but as time passes by, they get more eager and aggressive so he has to do something.

Clark went back to the company.

Sheen's in her office, continuing the book she wants to write.

He didn't bother her and went to his office to call Dan.

"Please call Dona Hale Violet's manager and tell him that if Dona won't make a public apology, both of them will sink down," Clark said and turned off his phone.

Sheen is too full of energy while writing that she did not notice that it's already lunch.

Her stomach's already begging her to eat but due to being too focused, she can't hear it.

She types fast, eager to let out all her ideas in the story when suddenly she heard someone knock at the door.

She froze, nervousness run through her body as her face tightens.

'Is it Clark?' she thought while standing up.

Ever since she talked with Bea, she's afraid to see Clark for a reason she can't understand.

After feeling sad because she's not part of Clark's family and even asking herself if she wants to be, she feels nervous about having to see Clark.

But she wants to see him and say her thanks for helping her last night.

But there's the feeling that she wants to have her distance from Clark.

She can't run away from him, he's her boss.

And she's an assistant.

She's only an assistant.

Sheen exhales as she tries to calm herself.

Since for some reason, she feels excited to think that Clark's behind the door.

"What the hell! What takes you too long to open the door?" Bea yelled as she opens the door. 

Sheen froze as her legs weaken due to shock.

"Hey! Keep it together, I know you're going to be a White someday!" Bea whispers as she holds Sheen's arm.

"I brought lunch," Bea smiles apologetically at Sheen while they get to her desk.

Sheen just had her poker face until they finished eating.

"Hey, don't be mad. I was waiting for too long outside. I thought you're already out from hunger. You're too focused when writing that you forget to eat," Bea frowns.

"I know, it's just that I was hoping---"

She stops from what she wants to say, 'I'm not hoping to see Clark!' she thought.

"I was hoping that I can finish the 56th chapter today and by next week, I can send them for proofreading and for editing," she continued.

"Oh, I can do the proofreading, Dan can do the editing," Bea suggested.

"Aren't you too busy for the wedding?"

"No, we're done with that part. And you need to pass that by December, right? We still have that much time. I'm just shocked that you're already at the end."

"Yep, I already started writing before I told Clark." 

They both drink their coffeetea jelly when Sheen's phone rang.

She scowls when she saw who the caller is.

"What do you want?" She asks in an irritated voice.

"Can we talk, please?" Kady asks in a begging tone.

Bea stares at Sheen, the only one she will make that face is Kady.

She went beside Sheen and listens.

"No, I am busy."

"Please, I just want to tell you something about Mr. White."

"You can tell it to me now."

"No, I'll tell it if you will see me personally."

"Then, it's your lost. I don't care about what you want to say."

Sheen was about to turn off the call when Kady replies, "He raped a teen and got her pregnant!" 

Sheen's forehead furrows, "I'll see you at 7 pm," she said and turned off her phone.

"What was that? Raped? Where did he hear that?" Bea asks.

"I don't know. But I can't let Kady have that rumor with him. I have to tell him the truth. Clark didn't do that," Sheen frowns.

She can't let rumors about Clark spread.

She has to correct it.

But it's not her problem.

It shouldn't be her problem.

She's just an assistant.

But she can't keep her heart at rest.

It bothers her so much that it suffocates her.

Now, there are a few more days to engage in editing and filling. Because Meng Fan had voiced the male lead, they were able to finish everything several days ahead of schedule.

Ajay: "Dude pride is a multimillion-dollar company with top elite scientists and research facilities bro so it makes sense that they partner with the government also the Owner is unknown"

News Reporter: "But in order to research this phenomenon they would have to visit the areas that people have disappeared from so the government have issued a curfew no one is allowed to leave there house or be on the streets at 8 pm - 7 am or else they will be punished this is the midday new and we're out.

Eli: "Bro in the letter my Mom left behind she said mentioned that I shouldn't let Pride find the book of catastrophe like how is Pride connected to all this?"

Ajay: "I don't know Bro all I know is that Pride industries are to researchers in Phoenix city"

Eli started smiling and looked at Ajay and said: "How great are you hacking skills?

Ajay: "My hacking skills are amazing if you ask me....wait you want me to hack into Pride Network and steal information?"

Eli: "Yeah I do the letter said they have something to do with this so maybe they are hiding something"

Ajay: "Well they do have connection all over this city and plus the government so maybe they are hiding something but what would they want with a book that might not even exist?"

Eli: "I don't know but I'm going on the streets for some Intel you stay here and hack into Pride Network"

Ajay: "You're going to see her aren't you?"

Eli: "Yeah but she knows everything that goes on in the city"

Ajay: "Then why do you want me to hack into Pride Network if she knows everything?"

Eli: "You said it yourself they are a multimillion-dollar company that company connections all over so I don't think no one knows there secret and plus I'm only gonna ask her about the men in black cloak"

Ajay: Sigh"Dude be careful and don't miss the curfew"

*Eli pick and his jacket and said"Dude when have I not been careful" the walked out the house*

"How about Wang Family matter?" Qin Xia suddenly remembered about that matter.
"The plan already in progress. Their only son already addicted to gambling and caught cheating while playing." Jun Man He told his boss.
