This chapter pretty much covers all what I'm going to say—apart from any random thought— in my journey of writing this book.

I'm going to update a chapter twice a week or more.

Hitomi looked exceptionally furious "yeah yeah" she said to them "so what did you gather in the mines?" the companion who has dark half white hair and horns he additionally has sparkly yellow eyes. 
"nothing, I keep getting the regular old ones" Hitomi looked extremely annoyed, "ha, you sure don't change" he tapped her shoulder "hey!" Hitomi tapped his shoulder just as they all run nearer to the school.
A stamp made a boisterous beating clamor, an understudy left the line "Next!" an old testy lady sitting behind the enormous u-molded front work area "name?" she gazed toward Hitomi's companion "Yamato Hashimoto" she flipped the goliath book to the following page "dormitory B43" she said as she stamped onto the book, Yamato then left the line "Next!" she yelled "name?" she asked Hitomi's other companion "Homura Nakajima" she responded then the Elderly flipped the book "dormitory B62" at that point stamped the book as Homura left the line. And now, it was Hitomi's chance before she entered this school she felt like she had seen that old lady in her previous existence, "Next!" Hitomi stepped one step forwards "Hitomi Matsushita" she answered Hitomi watched the elderly's crusty hands as she flipped various pages, Hitomi started to be anxious of the fact that she would not like to wind up into an all out various residence like a last year "dormitory B171" Hitomi gulped quietly as she left the line she was unable to accept she got another long number, the stamp nearly caused her to get startled significantly more.
From that point forward, Hitomi strolled to her companion who where waiting tight for her "guess who got the same long number? you seriously don't change" Yamato secured his mouth so he wouldn't laugh so uproarious, "ugh!" Hitomi got very angry so she hit his shoulder. "guys this is no opportunity to be silly, we better get moving before it's late" Homura said attempting to quiet us down, "fine" Yamato sucked his teeth. They all entered the study hall and obviously it was uproarious as damnation and the well known young ladies were tattling with one another over jabber "earth has no difference" Hitomi unobtrusively said to her companions, Yamato started to laugh and Homura smirked. They all sat together in the center The instructor abruptly came in the room at the same time, "settle down, understudies!" she had a malevolent face that will never under any circumstance fall off. An understudy started chuckling so hard that got the educator's consideration "Be quiet!" but, that didn't make him stop so the Teach tossed a fire ball onto his face, "Ah!" it consumed his entire body. The educator couldn't have cared less obviously until different children started giggling, "would ya'll like to talk with the devil himself?!" the instructor yelled over the room which made everybody quiet, "okay, we'll currently start the training" the educators lifted up a wand that caused us to go to better places to haunt or possess...
Hitomi smiled so hard that she crushed the book she clutched onto the library's table "was it that simple?" Homura said to Hitomi as she marginally lifted down the book from her face "what do you mean? it was extremly simple" Hitomi reacted as she kept on grinning. "that'll be the only time you'll ever beat me" Yamato said as he turned his head to confront her course, Hitomi stuck her tongue out at him. "Each understudy must report to your dormitories!" the declaration frightened, "we should go" Homura instructed them, them as a whole shut our books simultaneously. They all strolled towards the lift "guys I don't want to go..." Hitomi murmured but, they didn't appear to hear her as she strolled behind them, Homura and Yamato both went together since their numbers were nearer to one another. And, Hitomi went alone like in every case possibly the explanation she was a professional killer, Hitomi remained before the quarters' entryway stressed to see who'll be her flat mate she knows Homura and Yamato isn't terrified like she is so she asks herself 'if you're companions aren't frightened, then for what reason should you be?' that question made her somewhat more confident...she gradually opened the dormitory's entryway...an Angel?!

In the underworld is where angels are demon's enemy and in the upper world is where demons are angel's enemy. Hitomi is a demon student who apparently found an angel living in her dorm, and promises her to not tell anyone, will she be able to keep it a secret? And for how long? We'll hope to hear!

Sam's physic used to be normal, he wasn't fit but was neither big nor slim too as he carried heavy boxes as a part time job for three years now. He was also pretty tall from his culminating 190 centimeters (6 feet 3 inches), now that his body shape was upgraded he gave off a strong and manly feeling. He looked at himself in the mirror and a big smile appeared on his face, even his facial feature seemed a bit better now as his jawline was not pronounced.

He tried putting on a tee shirt but the bulging muscles made it tight for him to put it in, he would have to buy a size above from now on. Until his next shopping session he would have to put on some oversized shirts. After finally getting tired of looking at his new body he went to do breakfast and next went to wake Em up.

While they were eating breakfast Sam saw that Em seemed a bit down as she didn't eat very much and her mind seemed elsewhere. 
"What'up Em' ? You seem a bit low, did something happen at school ?"

She looked at him with tearing eyes and replied 
"Next week there is that sport contest at school and everyone will be participating with their dads or moms..."
Of course he understood the meaning behind her words, he felt bad for this little girl. He had grown up with his parents until 3 years ago but she probably didn't even remember their faces as they had died when she was 4 years old. He hugged her and whispered "Don't worry baby, big brother will be here with you ! I'll skip university and come with you."

Em finally flashed a big smile
"Big brother is the best ! I love you !!"
 he wiped her tears and kissed her on the cheek. She ended her breakfast in a very happy mood while watching a cartoon on TV and then was sent to school by Sam.

Today Sam didn't have class but he'd have to go to his part time job, he worked as a mover and had to carry heavy boxes and furniture for a living. He had 4 days free of classes in the week so he worked full time on these days instead of working after class, he had proposed the idea to his boss and his boss didn't even think about it and answered yes. The boss was an old friend of his dad and he took care of the siblings as much as he could after their parents had died. 

Sam was greeted by all his coworkers when he went in the local, he had worked with them for 3 years now and all of them were good friends, after changing into his work clothes, a navy blue overall and old brown boots he went with the rest to wait for the boss to dispatch them on their missions. After a few minutes the boss's secretary came over, she was a  chubby cute girl around the age of Sam. She wasn't only a secretary, she was also the boss's daughter and she was an old friend of Sam, Emma. They had went to the same school from the primary school to the high school but she stopped her studies after high school as she already had a work in her dad's company. "Sam, the boss want to talk with you." She said with a cute smile, when she and Sam were on the road to her dad's office she looked curiously at him and asked "You seem different... did you gain weight recently?" This was exactly what he was wary of, would the people around him realize he had changed from a day to the next ? He didn't mind Em as she was still young and wouldn't mind these details but the rest would definitely think it was weird so he answered "Yeah I've been eating healthy and training a lot lately and I'm finally starting to see the results of my hellish training." With a big smile and she didn't think much of it she just looked a bit more at the changes with a bit of blush on her cheeks...

When Sam got into the office he was greeted by his boss and dad's old friend, Oscar. He had called him uncle Oscar since young as he was very close to his father, way more than his real uncle which he had met only once when he came to their home a few years back.

Uncle Oscar looked at him guiltily and said "Sam take a seat, want a drink ?"
Sam saw that look in his eyes and realized that something happened or was going to happen so he just sat down and answered "I'm fine uncle Oscar, what did you call me for ?"
Uncle Oscar seemed to hesitate and finally launched himself
"I.. I'm sorry Sam. I know your situation but mine isn't that good too, it's a hard decision but I had to take it for the benefit of the company... the company is dismissing a few workers because we can't pay them anymore. We're keeping only a few full time workers."
He didn't need to end his sentence, he wouldn't call Sam to tell him this if he wasn't amongst the dismissed workers.

Even though Sam was ready to head a bad news this one was definitely the worse he could hear at the moment. This work was his only source of income, if he lost it he couldn't even pay his rent. He had to do something but uncle Oscar was closed to any negotiation. Sam left the company dejectedly, as the owner of the company was his uncle he would pay him more than any other place for the same amount of work...

After a while Sam was home lying on the couch and thinking of what he could do now. 
Even after thinking for a long while he couldn't think of a job that could pay him enough, the jobs he was the most qualified to do were physical ones like carrying or moving heavy things, even more since he had gotten the +10 strength points that he didn't even have had time to try.

After thinking about a lot of unconvincing alternatives he was about to give up for the moment when a voice resounded in his head, this voice made him happy just hearing it.

This notification came right on time, Sam was thinking where or who did this heaven sent gift came from when a pop up appeared in front of him. Both skills could help him make money, Sam had heard that people on YouTube made good money if they did enough clicks... if his singing skill were up to par he could make a place for himself on that platform and if there was a level 1 book there was obviously next levels books so he could definitely do well in that domain. He could also write a book and sell it but would a rookie's book sell enough ? And even if he sold enough writing a book wasn't a one day story. For the songs it was easier as he didn't have to sing his own songs but could make covers. Sam hesitated for a bit before clicking on the singing skill book.

Now the question was if a Level 1 book was enough to make him famous, a lvl 1 boxing book was around the same as a black belt taekwondo user. He guessed a lvl 1 book was around the level of a very good amateur or a rookie professional, this was only in the case where all the lvl 1 books gave the same amount of experience and technique. 

Now Sam has to find a cheap recording studio to rent for the shortest time it would take him to record his first song. He went in his room and turned on the old computer, it was an old model from Dell. It took around a minute to completly launch, he first went on YouTube to check other people's cover and to inspire himself, he couldn't do a bad job as it would definitely reduce his view count if the video was of a bad quality. Then he went on the internet browser and checked for the studios not to far and called them to check their prices. Finally he found one, now he needed a camera of a good enough quality but when he checked the prices they ranged from 600€ to exorbitant prices like 3000€. And those were only the amateur materials, he preferred not to check the professional ones. The price was too much but he found a site where he could buy it in many times so the price was divided in 4. He went on and ordered his camera, for the next few days he got the rest ready, he chose the song he wanted to cover and started training his singing.

Sam and his little sister live alone but his life is already hard enough trying to end his studies and give her the best life possible while facing bullies and financial issues. This is when he acquires the choice system which from time to time give him the choice between two skills or attributes.

If someone likes my work and can do me a better cover than the one I did myself for free I’ll take it thankfully haha

At least, that was how Pei Zhen usually coaxed his own manager.
Books with titles like "The Main Points of Acting," or "Analysis of Lin Yousu," were all over his book shelf. However, underneath these respectable looking covers, it was actually hiding something like manga.
Fu Sichen must be hiding something too.
In the beginning, Pei Zhen had thought that Fu Sichen's book was hiding some kind of dark secret. But after opening it, all that came out was a thick stack of paper.
Without a doubt, these papers were very important to Fu Sichen.
The corners of every page had been neatly aligned, and the words on the papers had already started to fade. It was clear that they were rather old.
"What are these?"
Pei Zhen continued to flip through the pages curiously. It wasn't a diary, or even some kind of important notes. The papers were a mix of formulas, arithmetic, and other things like that… He had flipped through most of them before it slowly dawned on him.
Wait a second.
These were his notes from when he was still in school.
Even if he hadn't used a pen and paper for a long time, Pei Zhen could at least recognize his own handwriting. He hadn't been completely sure until he saw a character sketch that finally confirmed his suspicions.
The sketch was rather messy. However, because of the artist's good skills, you could easily tell that it was a remarkable rendering of a person.
It was a drawing of a youth.
The youth was lowering his head while reading; he had defined facial features that made him look outstanding and handsome.
Next to the sketch, in ostentatious lettering, were the words "Big Brother." On the other side of the paper was a note: Autumn, High School Year 2, From Pei Zhen.
Pei Zhen was stunned.
It had been so many years since that time, but looking at the sketch brought a lot of memories to the surface.
That's right, he had drawn a sketch of Fu Sichen in his free time. He must have been possessed. Why else would he have written the words "Big Brother" on the drawing, and gifted it to Fu Sichen himself?
The only thing that made him confused was that Fu Sichen had been expressionless when he accepted the gift. Why was it so well preserved? Was he planning on passing it down as a family heirloom or something?
Pei Zhen couldn't find a good explanation. Especially after recalling the way that Fu Sichen had called him a rascal, Pei Zhen started to panic. He quickly slammed the book shut.
Cr*p! Cr*p! Cr*p!
Why did the way he used to interact with his good friend seem a little gay in retrospect? Or was it just an illusion?
Sigh.
Before Pei Zhen could think of a good explanation, Fu Sichen had already finished showering and was walking out of the bathroom. Pei Zhen turned around, with a look that was hard to describe.
Fu Sichen had no way of knowing the emotional turmoil that his cat was currently going through. He quickly blow-dried his hair before plopping himself onto the bed.
Fu Sichen moved the cat to one side, making sure to leave a space for the Persian cat. With the cat watching, he took the book out, and fished out the wad of papers.
"What on earth…?!" Pei Zhen didn't know what to think.
Looking through this stack of papers during his free time was part of Fu Sichen's daily routine. His deep gaze looked extremely gentle, but it only served to scare Pei Zhen. By now, all he wanted to do was keep his distance.
He felt like he didn't really know his rival anymore. Fu Sichen felt more and more like a total stranger the longer he stayed with him.
Why did he save his rival's old school notes!?
Maybe… Fu Sichen wanted to copy his handwriting?
Pei Zhen analyzed his handwriting in his head. It really was amazing— not only did it flow beautifully, but it was both classy and stylish.
The more he thought about it, the more he felt that his guess was true. His goosebumps went away, and Pei Zhen was left feeling rather flattered.
He looked up again and stared at Fu Sichen, who was in deep concentration. Water droplets were still dripping from his damp hair, so the cat jumped off the bed to come back with a towel.
Fu Sichen frowned.
Pei Zhen's eyes were welling up with tears, "Dry your hair, my little apprentice. After your teacher is a human again, I'll make sure to pass my skills onto you."

When Thursday came around, Sun Mei took a taxi to Lily's school to pick her up. Mr. Wu had headed to the studio earlier that day to make sure everything was in order, so her job was to get Lily and meet him and Jenny there.

While she was in the taxi, she daydreamed about Mr. Wu posing for one of those saucy book covers. She believed that if she got used to the thought, she wouldn't stare too much when she saw it happen in action.

She was wrong…

When the driver pulled over in front of Lily's school, Sun Mei noticed a small crowd. Several parents were gathered around a woman in the middle of the school yard.

Upon closer inspection, she realized it was Karen.

Sun Mei sighed and got out of the car reluctantly. As she approached the group of parents waiting to pick up their children, she could hear Karen talk animatedly.

"Mr. Wu, bless his heart, had frozen completely. If I hadn't snapped into action, who knows what would have happened…"

"Someone else would have snapped into action," said Sun Mei. "You are not the only nice person in the world. You are just the only one who likes to brag about it so much."

Everyone's heads immediately turned in her direction. 

"But thanks for giving Mr. Wu and Lily a ride, I guess…" Sun Mei added awkwardly.

Thankfully, the bell rang just in time, saving her from having to face Karen. As soon as she found Lily amid the river of kids flowing out of the classrooms, she led her away from the curious crowd. 

Lily, who was overjoyed that she was going to see Jenny again so soon, followed her to the taxi without making a fuss.

"Is mommy waiting for me?" she asked as Sun Mei fastened the seatbelt around her waist. 

"I'm sure she is," she said.

"I hope she is…" she thought.

When the taxi left them at the address Mr. Wu had given Sun Mei, a young woman was waiting for them there.

"Hello, I'm Veronica," she introduced herself. "I'm Mr. Wu's assistant. You must be Sun Mei."

Veronica was an immaculately dressed young woman in a pencil skirt and a white shirt. Her dark hair was tied to the back of her neck, and she was wearing a pair of black prescription glasses. All in all, she looked like a true professional.

Lily immediately seemed to recognize her. "Hi, Veronica!" she said loudly.

"Hi, Lily!" Veronica answered just as enthusiastically. "Your daddy told me you had quite the adventure a few days ago."

Lily looked confused. "What adventure?" she asked Sun Mei.

"She means the hospital," Sun Mei whispered to her.

"Oh!" Lily nodded. "Yes, that was fun!" she told Veronica politely.

Sun Mei almost laughed when she saw the look on Veronica's face.

"Where's daddy?" Lily asked without missing a beat.

"I'm taking you right to him," Veronica said with a tight smile. "I'm afraid he can't walk out on the street the way he looks right now…"

"What do you mean?" Sun Mei asked.

Veronica unexpectedly winked. "You shall see…"

Sister Xue coughed awkwardly and suddenly pointed to the front with a quivering finger. 
Qin Guan craned his neck from the back seat and saw Shao help Fang open her Mini Cooper. Shao sat in the driver’s seat.
"How did they get together? Qin Guan, are you having an affair with her?"
"What are you talking about? Do you think I’m that kind of guy?" Qin Guan pretended to be angry. 
Embarrassed, Sister Xue exhaled a cloud of smoke. "I thought she wanted to take advantage of you, like those actresses. I had no idea. That sister is really open-minded. She’s from a foreign country. This is so romantic!"
Qin Guan smiled helplessly. Open-minded is an understatement. The truth would shock the audience. Fortunately, my heart is taken, or the outcome might have been different.
Neon lights were shining in the dark night. It was so late that even the moon had fallen asleep. Qin Guan crept up to his dormitory, hung his suit on a hanger and lay down on his bed.
There was a distinct difference between the noisy party and his roommates’ snores. Qin Guan tried to recall some important information. Did I have the snow beef tonight? That’s terrible! The mad cow disease will break out in Japan in a few days! Then what? I’m so sleepy. I should just sleep. 
Another note was added to the dormitory snoring concert. This was the nature of ordinary life. The simpler, the better. His girlfriend would never laugh at him for his moderate aspirations.
Qin Guan didn’t tell Cong Nianwei about the incident at the party. Most men had their secrets, and they kept them for self-protection or because they were ashamed.
Hand in hand, they arrived at the training centre in the Handian District, which had been recommended by Cong Nianwei’s tutor.
In the following days, they’d have to take the TOEFL, GRE or GMAT exam and apply to American universities with their scores.
Time was pressing. Cong Nianwei had no time to waste.
Both of them were good at English. What they needed was just some training before the exams.
As the last ones to get there, they stood out among the group of students dreaming to go abroad.
As soon as Qin Guan entered the classroom, he noticed that the students were divided into two groups.
The tutor was not there, so all the students looked at the two freshmen. The leaders of each group waved at them. "Sit here!"
Silence prevailed.
"Hey, those are hillbillies over there. Steer clear of them, or they’ll break your fragile hearts!" said the student on the left side, who was wearing a fashionable outfit with golden chains.
    The student on the right side seemed more serious. He sneered at them, saying, "Look at their binder covers and shirts before you decide. Even money couldn't compensate for their low IQ!"
Qin Guan and Cong Nianwei looked down and saw the logos of their universities on their shirts and binder covers.
The student on the left raised his middle finger towards the student on the right. "You are a just peasant! Students of famous universities are different from each other. Look at the boy's Polo shirt and pants. Would a f*cking poor student be able to afford that?" 
Smiling, Qin Guan and Cong Nianwei exchanged a glance with each other before walking to the middle of the two groups, where two calm guys were seating.
They were writing swiftly without looking up. "Rich kids are on the left side and poor students relying on scholarships are on the right."
Qin Guan pulled up the chairs in front of them and sat down. "We are neither."
The two students raised their heads to size them up.
"No wonder you didn't choose a side then. Are you going to study performance or art overseas?" the handsome guy asked Qin Guan.
The other guy stared at Cong Nianwei and said, "Maybe he’s a rich second generation heir going abroad for his girlfriend. Let’s not invade their privacy." 
Cong Nianwei smiled and offered her hand. "Hello, I’m Cong Nianwei. This is my boyfriend Qin Guan. We’ll be applying to different departments in the same university in the US. New York, as expected."
The gentle student insisted on his viewpoint, "You are from QH. Judging by your age, you have only two options: Columbia or New York University. As for your boyfriend..."
Qin Guan didn’t feel offended. "My goal is MBA at Columbia."
The student was shocked. He sized them up again and shook hands with them. "He Ming. And this is Guan Jian."
The four of them shook hands with each other. The two group leaders coughed unnaturally, but remained silent.
The tutor entered the classroom and the lesson began. Cong Nianwei listened to him carefully, but Qin Guan felt that the lesson was too simple. His gifted memory was the best tool for learning vocabulary. 
Cong Nianwei was jealous of Qin Guan's confidence. She was good at professional studies, but Qin Guan was talented in characters and language.
He Ming was doubtful of Qin Guan. As an international student, who had travelled all over the world with his parents, he dared not look down upon the GRE. How could that handsome guy be so confident? 
The GRE full mark was 1,600, but Qin Guan was sure that he would get at least 1,100 points. TOEFL focused on speaking, listening, reading and writing. Ivy League universities set high standards for that exam.
Qin Guan began to yawn impatiently. He had originally thought there would be some kind of secret to success. Could I skip some classes? 
The annoyed tutor counted the 99th yawn of the striking freshman. Pretending nothing had happened, he announced they would be taking a 15-minute break.
As soon as the tutor went out with his teaching material, Qin Guan became the center of the room. In 2001, most students would choose the US as their destination, as the country was famous for its money, freedom and dreams.
Some fashionable girls gathered around Qin Guan, attracted by his looks. Cong Nianwei’s sour look didn’t stop them.
"Hey, I know you! You are VOGUE’s cover boy!"
"He’s a model? But he’s Zhang Changzhong, the toy boy from ‘Daming Palace’!" 
The brave girls wanted to push Cong Nianwei away and take the seat beside Qin Guan. Qin Guan stood up to protect Cong Nianwei.
"He is so tall! And he has such a nice figure!" 
"Yes, he deserves to be a model! Take a photo with me!" 
The girl tried to lean on Qin Guan's chest.
The leaders of the two groups were watching them happily. Qin Guan patted his desk, making everyone fall silent. 
Then he pointed at Cong Nianwei and said, "This is my girlfriend. We are preparing to go abroad, just like you are. I hope we can all enjoy a good studying environment."
Guan Jian, who was sitting behind Qin Guan, kicked the spare desk beside him and said, "Lan Jin and Cui Jun, control your groups. They are too noisy."
The atmosphere was getting charged. Lan Jin, a red-haired boy, waved at the girls, indicating that they should keep a distance from the two demons.
The girls from Cui Jun's group, who had originally been watching silently, took this chance to walk away.
Qin Guan looked at Guan in appreciation. Guan grinned and said honestly, "Don't thank me. I was also annoyed." Then he buried his face in a book and fell asleep.
He Ming smiled and glanced at both sides. The two leaders bent their heads unconsciously.
Nothing else happened. It seemed that Qin Guan and Cong Nianwei had been accepted by He and Guan. No one dared speak to them on their own initiative. 
Guan didn't show his face until the class was over. When he stood up, Qin Guan realized he was even taller than him.
Compared to him, He Ming looked much more preppy. They parted ways in the parking lot. One of them got in a military car with a plate number "甲A" [1], and the other got in an embassy car [2]. They drove away, leaving smoke behind them.  



Qin Guan was reborn and sent back to his final semester in High School 18 years ago. Getting a second chance at life, he works hard to turn things around and eventually become a Prince Charming. Baiyi had just done what they least expected him to do. Although they wanted more information, no one would have expected him to be so casual with the old book, which may or may not be a treasure which countless people had thrown their lives away in an attempt to obtain. Was he not worried that someone would claim it from him there and then?
"It does not matter what I say, right? So maybe you people will be more convinced by your own eyes," Baiyi said, placidly — a stark contrast to the intense emotional shock his action had caused Great Sage Tom.
It only took a short while for the stunned man to recover his composure, and a glint of excitement appeared in his eyes, closely followed by surprise, confusion, and greed. However, he said nothing, and instead, he sat down and wrapped his psychic energy around the book. 
The crowd of representatives no longer acted reserved; they huddled closer around the great sage like kids attracted to the fanciest toy in the neighborhood. However, no one tried to disrupt the Great Sage's concentration. They silently watched the Great Sage with complicated gazes. 
Baiyi, on the other hand, seemed to have been forgotten completely. He was enjoying the scene, however. He took another seat further away and watched them examine the book, while the Voidwalkers tried to come up with names for his future Academy.
Great Sage Tom concentrated on the appraisal so much that he shut down his sense to everything else. He sat so still, it was as though he had become a statue. Only his lips moved from time to time, mumbling, "Hmm, is this…. is this what Ancient Rohlserlese is? Very difficult to understand… Mm…. what a strange reaction. What does it mean?"
A long time later, he opened his eyes, and an expression of confusion appeared on his face. He began to look around, searching for Baiyi, obviously needing answers.
When the crowd saw this, they opened a path for his line of sight to fall on Baiyi, who seemed relaxed. 
"Master Hope, this book actually—"
Great Sage Tom had only just begun to speak when he felt his hand lighten. He looked down and saw it empty. The book was already back in Baiyi's hand.
"Alright. Now, if anyone has any further questions, you can go to Great Sage Tom," Baiyi casually said and put the Book of Servitude away before leaving the conference room. The ostensible purpose of the quorum was already achieved, so it could be considered over.
After he left, Great Sage Tom was bombarded with all sorts of questions regarding the book. One particular question was asked more than others: What exactly was that thing?
The Great Sage was embarrassed and stammered, "I… I don't know either! All I know is that the tome is from the Ancient Rohlserlian time… Probably related to forbidden spells? I'm not sure about anything else!"
That answer was quite similar with what Baiyi had initially told them, and since they did not dare to do anything to Baiyi, they took their frustrations out on the old man from the Doors of Conundrum, Great Sage Tom. Some were more tempestuous and grabbed the Great Sage's robe, while some grabbed his beard.
"Ow! Ow! Put me down, please! Everyone calm down! I did not lie to any of you. This treasure really is uncharacteristically cryptic, and I can't be certain if it is the Book of Servitude of legends... Aaaah, my little brother! My butt!" The Great Sage's cries spread so far that it reached Baiyi, who was already some distance away, and he could not help laughing in his mind.[1]
The Book of Servitude was just a moniker because a book was one of the forms it could take. Its true form was actually a group of golden light orbs that could shapeshift into any form he willed it to. If Baiyi wanted, he could easily change the book into a club-shaped object obscured by pixelation and rechristen it 'The Stick of Servitude'.
Now, didn't that just give us the grand feeling of a horndog who builds his harem the 'hard' way?
So, as it was shown, it wasn't as simple as a magical tool or weapon. The Archmage could even shift its appearance when he started activating his second Territory. It was even emblematic of the Rohlserlian's royalty— an object with so much significance attached to it like that would never fall into the hands of anyone this easily, especially when Baiyi had to go through this much to get it.
Most importantly, though, there was no actual manual or instruction in the Book of Servitude. It was built on the Laws themselves to the point that it had the ability to manipulate the Laws on certain degrees! How could something this powerful even comes with an instruction manual? So whatever Great Sage Tom had seen and sensed was exactly what Baiyi had wanted him to see.
Baiyi thought he was being kind to the old man for only showing the illogical, chaotic content, seeing how he was this old and yet still managed to do things like these. The Soul Armature could have just shown him a few clips of Philosophy ♂[2].
"Now I have someone to share the burden of this fame," Baiyi said in the Void. "But honestly, the Doors of Conundrum is not very loyal, isn't it? I mean, I know I lied about being one of them, but still, it makes me one of them nonetheless. Do they really want my secret so much that they would betray me like this in public like that? Geez, that's too far."
"With all due respect, the survivability of a purely academic organization throughout millennia, in a world marked by constant wars, requires… Certain condonations," the actual Great Sage of the Void, the Scholar, tried to explain.
"Understandable," Baiyi replied generously.
With the way things had turned out, Baiyi should no longer have to deal with questions regarding the Book of Servitude, at least for a while. After all, he had given it to them temporarily, yet even a Great Sage was unable to uncover how the book worked. Since they were still not sure what the book was, no one would dare cause trouble for him.
This was much better than the alternative, for if the public were to get wind of the true identity of the book, those who are primarily motivated by greed will begin to target him. Although these cretins would not be a problem for Baiyi, he still had to be careful because of his young students.
Contrary to what Baiyi had thought, he continued receiving visitors, even at night; he just could not catch a break. Unlike the visitors who came during the day to sit and talk with him, the visitors who came at night arrived with ill intentions and face masks, definitely with the intent to rob him. Whether they were doing this of their own volition or because someone paid them to remained to be seen.
Unfortunately for the robbers, Baiyi's mutated plants had no need for sleep, so the robbers had their behinds handed to them. The more professional robbers, who were able to slip past the mutated plants, could not break through the Aegis Mansion's many defense formations, which Baiyi had set up a long time ago. Therefore, Baiyi had no need to take action personally. 
Some interested parties took another approach to try to get closer to Baiyi; they targetted his female students. For days after the failed robbery attempts, the Aegis Mansion was visited by a variety of handsome men, who could all pass off as models on magazine covers. Some were prim and proper; some could pass off as the handsome boy next door; some were plain bad boys, and others had cheery and enthusiastic dispositions. It was as though someone had turned Baiyi's home into a massage parlor for ladies.
These visitors caused more headache for the Fifth Walker than other visitors did. Some of them even had the gall to profess their love for Baiyi's girls, with roses; some came over with harps and played love songs, which Baiyi found sickening, and others came shirtless, showing off their toned bodies and firm abs.
Baiyi was having none of it, though. Whenever he saw them, he would sic the Jawflower or Zakum the fox on them.
Thus, the male hotties had no choice but to flee while whimpering, while the girls watched them with expressions of pity.
"They are just shallow men borne with good looks. None of them could ever deserve any one of you!" Baiyi declared with confidence. "If they want to win your heart, they would have to go through me! And only the best can do that!"[3]
'If there is a boy whose strong, smart, and brave enough to beat me up until only my head is left, then I could maybe let the boy 'hang out' with Nota for a while…' Baiyi added quietly.
"But… they all look pretty... um, hot," Laeticia mumbled.
"What do you mean? Am I not hot?" Baiyi exclaimed as he patted his head and tidied up his bandit-like veil. "And, what's more… I'm deep."
"Mr. Hope is different, though," Laeticia chuckled, and her face gradually reddened. The redder she got, the more adorable she looked.
After seeing so many of their attempts fail, the unseen parties decided to play their trump cards. The next day, there were a few adorable and docile girls, who were dressed in proper clothes, innocently standing outside the mansion.
These girls are all the features that self-aspiring lolitas would kill to acquire, and they all plead, with tender and flirtatious voices, with Baiyi to take them in as his student.
Baiyi's students silently watched the girls from inside the mansion, with curiosity written all over their faces.
After making sure that the Cleric Walker, Paladin Walker, Engineer Walker, and the other members of the Void's gentlemen club were muted, Baiyi opened the gate. Like a venerable senior, he smiled gently and patted the heads of the visiting girls and kindly said, "My Academy is not established yet. When it's open, I'll welcome your registration.[4]"
He closed the gate after that and sighed, then he kicked the Jawflower all the way to the door, scaring the girls outside away.
'You guys can stop the advances now, right?' Baiyi thought to himself, sighing.
He summoned Mia to his side, and the girl came over with a puzzled expression.
Baiyi just rubbed her soft cheeks almost violently…[5]
Seeing their trump cards fail, most of the unseen parties decided to give up. However, there were some who still felt confident in their chances. 
That night, Baiyi was in his underground magus lab, when he felt a strange undulation emanate from his yard. Alarmed, he rushed out of the lab and hurried outside just in time to see his mutated plants toppling over. A family figure stood in their midst.
"Long time no see, Duchess Wright," Baiyi said calmly, as he stared at the mutated cabbage plant lying beside his feet. "You better hope they are not dead, or else I'll peel your pretty skin from your bones..."
[1] Er, are these representatives even, well, adults? I don't understand... How does bullying a senior enlighten anyone on what that treasure really is?

Imagine being forced to live, after death, as incorporeal bodies trapped in a vast space of nothingness for thousands of years, with nothing to do but exchanging past memories with other cohabitants (read: weirdos).  Everybody wanted out, but there was no way to leave the Void...

However, Baiyi had to use the techniques and abilities the other souls had taught him throughout the years, and together with his own extensive knowledge of anime and game tropes from his shady and dangerous past as an otaku, to face the biggest challenge of them all: training the clumsy young girl he was forced to partner up with… into a competent sorcerer!

"It's true, I don't remember, but you do." Tang Yue said. "With you around, you can help."
Tomcat kept one eye open while the other remained close.
"You wish to get my help?"
Tang Yue nodded.
"Call me daddy." Tomcat hooked its paw.
Tang Yue frowned. "Call you what?"
"Daddy."
"Good son."
…
"What the two of you wish to do is an unprecedented endeavor that will never be matched even in the future. In ancient times, history offices needed decades just to chronicle the previous dynasty. And both of you wish to chronicle all of human civilization." Tomcat yawned as its ears twitched. "Civilization is an ill-defined concept. It covers history, culture, technology, art, and everything you created as well as everything that created you. If you write down the entirety of human civilization's development process into the book, I believe that book will be thick enough to circle Mars several times."
Tang Yue was somewhat alarmed. He knew that it would be a massive endeavor, but he never expected it to be that scale.
He didn't have much knowledge about history, to begin with. Most came from his history textbooks in high school, and in history textbooks, spanning centuries was covered in just a few pages. Even the first emperor of China, Qin Shihuang, appeared only a handful of times.
"The researchers at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences spend their entire lives researching a tiny slice of history, and that's without any guarantees of them figuring out anything. What makes you think you can chronicle all of human civilization?" Tomcat scoffed. "Do you know the difference between Roosevelt and Roosevelt Jr.?" 
"Simplify it a little. We can simplify it a little." Tang Yue compromised. He did lack the capabilities needed to chronicle all of human civilization. If he made a mistake with Emperor Wu of Han's date of birth and death, he wondered if this particular Mr. Liu Che would travel hundreds of millions of kilometers to Mars to make a protest.
"We can start with a framework based on time, just like a chronicle. Then, we can slowly fill in the details, and develop as we go," Tang Yue said. "Peking Man, Yuanmou Man… We should start with the Neanderthals?"
"Why don't you just start from the Cambrian Period?" Tomcat scoffed. "Why not start from the hallucigenia?"
"Great idea!" Tang Yue clapped. "Earth is gone. We should biographize Earth's history."
"Biographize my ass… Do you know what it means to do things within your means?" Tomcat opened his eyes, waved his claws, and felt a little exasperated. "Are you going to start from the Cambrian period to the Ordovician period, to the Silurian period, to the Devonian period, to the Carboniferous period, to the Permian period, to the Triassic period, to the Jurassic period, to the Cretaceous period, to the Paleogene period, to the Neogene period, all the way to the Quaternary period? Do you have a lifespan longer than Peng Zu[1]?"
"We can simplify it a little. Simplify it a little," Tang Yue said with resent. "For example, we can describe the Jurassic period as a period when reptiles flourished. On the massive continent lived… lived…"
Tang Yue realized he had nearly zero knowledge about ancient creatures. He couldn't even remember the names of any dinosaurs.
"… lived the Plateosaurus!"
Tang Yue finally recalled a name.
Tomcat silently held its forehead.
"The Plateosaurus is a creature from the Triassic period."
"In the Jurassic period, the supercontinent began to break up. Gymnosperms reached their peak development, and there were plenty of reptiles. Among them, Ornithischia and Saurischia dinosaurs had the greatest development. Ornithischia dinosaurs included the Stegosaurus, while the Saurischia dinosaurs included the Allosaurus, Camarasaurus, and Brontosaurus." Mai Dong's voice sounded over the comms as she gave a lively laugh. "Would that be fine?"
"Bingo!" Tang Yue snapped his fingers. "Perfect, lady! That would do! That's it, we shall begin from the Cambrian period!"
Tomcat silently facepalmed.
It didn't dare make the sarcastic remark, "Why don't you start from the Big Bang?"
It was very likely that this clueless idiot would just smack his head and really begin from the Big Bang.
Clearly, just Tang Yue and Mai Dong were insufficient to complete this endeavor. Therefore, the one who would truly end up with all the troubles was Tomcat. It didn't wish to make things worse for itself.
"Alright, alright. You can start wherever you wish to start from." Tomcat sighed. "But what are you going to use to record? Paper? Hard disks? Or carving it on a rock?"
Kunlun Station had lots of paper which Max had brought to solve Goldbach's conjecture, but after Max got engrossed with The Elder Scrolls, this grand goal was thrown to the back of his mind.
"We can't use paper. The density of information it can contain is too little. It has too low a capacity." Tang Yue shook his head. "We don't have that much paper or pens, much less that much manpower."
Using paper to record Earth's history was unimaginable. The efficiency of handwriting records was just too low. In the era before the printing press was created, books and cultural transmission was done by professional scribes. Those people worked late-nights for months to write. Finally, that pitiful amount produced became the exclusive collections of the aristocracy.
Using the capacity of hard disks was viable as Kunlun Station didn't lack hard disks. There were hard disks with tens or hundreds of terabytes of storage. A Chinese character only took two bytes of space, and each letter in the alphabet took a byte of space. If it was all used to store text, the hard disk's storage would be enough to store all the books in human history.
With just Tang Yue and Mai Dong alone, there was no need to worry about having a lack of hard disk space.
"How long can the information on hard disks be preserved?" Mai Dong asked.
"It's hard to tell. The harsh environment on Mars will greatly degrade the lifespan of a hard disk. The particles in solid-state drives that are used to store data are prone to damage. Mechanical hard drives have slightly longer lifespans, but they won't last past a century." Tomcat shook its head. "Even if you were to record the information on a hard disk, where would you store them?"
"The best environment on Mars is here." Tomcat pointed down. "Kunlun Station's lifespan is longer than both of yours, but once you are dead, it won't survive long due to the lack of maintenance. It will last for at most fifty years, and by then it will be in complete ruins. And a century later, the information left on the hard disks would have been damaged and lost."
Tang Yue and Mai Dong fell into a thoughtful silence.
In a certain way, they were writing an epitaph for human civilization. An epitaph was engraved on tombstones for people from the future to see. It needed to be preserved, so even if the coffin and remains in the grave had rotted and reduced to soil, their names would still be known to others.
It was why Tang Yue wished to record something and store it for as long as possible.
Paper and hard disks weren't viable options.
As for engraving it on stone, that was indeed a romantic idea.
If he had the conditions, Tang Yue wished to use the entire Martian surface like paper, using an excavator and tractor convoy to engrave words on Mars, so that the entire Solar System could see it.
But Tang Yue only had a soup-spoon-like shovel on hand.
At best, he could engrave his name on the rock.
However, Lu Xun[2] once said, "The one who engraves his own name in rock, will see their name rot faster than a corpse."
Lu Xun: … I didn't say[3] that. It's by Zang Kejia[4].

Payload specialist, Tang Yue, who is a mechanical and electrical engineer by training, is left stranded on Mars when he receives news from his AI robot assistant, Tomcat, that Earth has exploded. He believes himself to be the last human in the Universe.
Turns out, he is only the last man in the Universe. Botanist, Mai Dong, had been left on the United Space Station (USS) orbiting Mars, to await Tang Yue's ascent to the USS before they make their journey back to Earth. But now, it's impossible.

After I left Mom standing in the road I walked around the city park for a while not sure what to do. I've never talked to Mom like that before and It hurt. A lot. I wished I could have controlled my anger better. But what I said needed to be heard and that was the only way I believed it would be. As I walked around the park I saw a little boy on a bench playing a guitar. His fingers fumbled at the strings trying to make the tunes that were in his head come out, but couldn't. He got frustrated and threw it on the ground. I ran over and picked it up and stared at him. " Why'd you do that?" I tilted my head at him. 

"Why not it's not like I can play it anyway." I chuckled. "Why are you laughing?!" I sat down on the bench. 

"Well let me ask you this. Do you think any professional shredding a guitar just knew how to do it?" He looked at me like I was an idiot. 

"Uh duh. That's what makes them professionals."  I simply smiled at him shaking my head.

"No they didn't. They practiced. They practiced everyday till they knew how to do it without thinking about it. They put their heart into it. They put their blood sweat and tears into practicing to make themselves sound and play better than they did the day before. They weren't just born knowing how to. They learned. Like you can right now, if you ask." His eyes got wide.

"Really?! You can teach me?!" I grin and nod. "Yes!!!" Just as his mood sparked up it changed fast. "Oh wait I can't right now…" his gaze fell to the ground. "I have to get home or my mom will ground me." I chuckled. 

"Then I'll meet you the week after next say around five? Same spot?" He looked at me and grinned. 

"You got it!!" I handed him the guitar.

"You're gonna be careful with it right?" He nodded and ran off. When he got to the park gate he turned around and waved. 

"The week after next!!! Five a clock!!! Don't be late!!!" He ran off. 

It wasn't long after that I walked around and ended up here, the city library. Like I told Mom I would be. I love the library, I always have. I love staring at the covers and every title on each spine, I could do it for hours, just staring until one finally pops out at me. "Ah this one!" I pull out a book called 'Virals' by Kathy Reichs. 

"Kathy Reichs! Awesome!" She's one one my favorite Authors. She wrote all of the Bones collection. I smile and find a seat in the corner of the library and begin to read. The luring adventure of a young girl and her friends along with their newly founded K-9 companion, solving the crime committed by the science institution their parents work for.

"You have good taste." I jumped and looked over my book to find the owner of that sweet voice. A girl around my age, with blonde hair, Emerald eyes, and wearing a pink AC DC band shirt with black skinny jeans. "Oops! I'm sorry I didn't mean to startle you!" She smiles sweetly at me. My heart jumps and I can feel the blood rush to my face. 

"Oh.. um.. no no it's fine. I-I mean I was just sucked into the b-book is all." She laughs and walks a little closer.

"May I?" She gestures to the empty seat next to me. 

"Oh yeah.. um.. sure yeah!" She comes over and sits down. 

"You know I've seen you around but I can't seem to find you at school. Are you in one of the nights classes? Or are you in the AP classes?" She looked at me genuinely curious. I laugh, shaking my head. 

"No. I'm homeschooled. We live pretty far away out of town so there's no point in even trying it. Plus mom is really smart. she graduated highschool at a young age and was working on college when I was born so I got the best." I chuckle and look over at her. Her eyes stared at me intently causing the blood to rush back to my face. "W-what is it?" She shook her head.

"I've lived in this town my whole life and I know everyone, and when I saw you at first I thought that you were new. But then I started seeing you everywhere at the Diner, here, at City Hall, and everyone seemed to know who you were so then I figured that you just were one of the kids at school that have lived in this town that liked to stay low and not be bothered." She began to stare at the ground as if she were in deep thought, trying to piece things together. I sat back and listened just smiling at how hard she tried to figure me out. 

"So how…. How long exactly have you been here? Who are you?" She looks over at me and I chuckle. 

"Why would I tell you that?" Her jaw dropped and she started to say something before I cut her off. "What I mean is why would I tell you all the answers and lose my mystery?" I laugh and her face softens.

"Well then I guess I'm just gonna have to wait huh?" I nod and we both laugh. 

We stay there for the next couple of hours talking and laughing as the sun sets and disappears. 

"Well I have to head home." She stands and gathers her things.

"Hey wait." I take her hand, causing us both to jolt and our faces to turn bright red. She pulls her hand away and laughs shyly. "I-Im sorry.." I pull away from her gaze. "I uh, I just didn't get your name.." I peeked over at her to catch a quick glimpse of her before I turned my gaze back to the ground. She was staring at me with wide eyes and a slight blush in her cheeks. I heard her laugh.

"I'm Holly, Holly Glade." My head snaps around to look at her and my eyes widen.

"Glade? As in.." she nodded solemnly.

"Yeah my Great Great Grandfather founded the town." She smiles but her eyes don't follow as they stay downcasted. I chuckle.

"Well I'm Kai, Kai Wolf." She looks at me. her expression changed dramatically from sad to curious. 

"You wouldn't so happen to be part of the Wolf family that owns wolf mountain, would you?" I grin and nod.

"But that's actually my father's land. My mother always said that we may own the land but it doesn't really belong to us.." she tilted her head seemingly confused. "Well what I mean is that it belongs to the animals and wildlife that live on that mountain." I smile. She nods thinking about it and chuckles.

"Well Kai Wolf, it's nice to meet you." She smiles and holds her hand out to me. I stand and take her hand.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Holly Glade." We stand there a few moments before Holly remembers that she has to go.

"Bye Wolf!" She turns to leave.

"Goodbye Holly!" I wave after her. Before she walks through the doors she turns to face me. 

"Wolf?! When can I see you again?!" I grin.

"The week after next! Same time?!" She smiles nodding her head firmly, she then pushed the door open and walked out. 

I stood there blushing and excited for the next time I could see her again.

"Excuse me? Kai?" I looked over to see an old woman with kind blue eyes, that matched her soft voice. 

"Oh hello Mrs. Thumble." I smiled at her and in return she smiled sweetly at me.

"I'm sorry Kai but the library is about to close for the night." When she spoke she looked so sad having broken the news to me. I chuckled and took her hand.

"Oh Mrs. Thumble I'm so sorry to keep you here this late!" She laughs and shakes her head.

"Oh no Dear! I love to see a young mind enjoy the wonders of words on paper. Instead of that blasted ole computer and internet, mumbo jumbo, nonsense! But I must say these days I seem to be getting a little more sleepy a lot earlier than I used to." She smiles as we head towards the doors. She shuts off the lights and hands me the keys. I let her take my arm to help guide her outside and I lock the doors behind us. "Thank you Kai. Will I be seeing you again?" I nod with a big smile.

"Of course you will. When have I ever let you down?" Mrs. Thumble laughs and pats my arm. We talk awhile before parting ways. I watch as she leaves, finally allowing myself to sit down on the stairs leading to the entrance of the library. I lay back and stare up at the stars my heart aching from the realization that mom hadn't come yet. I feared for her, and for Nicky. I wondered if mom had not listened to me and actually went through with Miss Jane's offer. But most importantly if she had gone through with it, what would happen between her and Nicky.

Before I had realized it I was completely consumed in a peaceful black void. I didn't know when if fell asleep but it wasn't long after I realized I had, I heard a soft familiar voice.

"Kai? Kai? Honey? Honey wake up. Kai?" I slowly pried my heavy eyes open to find a beautiful woman leaning over me.

'who is she?'

Her hair was blonde and even in the dark you could see the red tint it had to it from the light of the street lamp hitting it as well as the flowing waves that fell from behind her ear and brushed against my face. Her face was dolled up with make up making her even more beautiful, with smokey eyes, and Ruby red lipstick. She had on a red dress showing off her hourglass figure and to top it all off she wore tall black high-heel boots. 

I stared at her not sure what to do or say. I felt like I knew her, but from where? It wasn't till she spoke again that I realized who she was. 

"Kai, You know you shouldn't sleep on these stairs. It'll hurt your back" I raised up on my elbows staring her straight in the eyes.

'No Way!'

"Mom?! Is That You??!!"
