Ozone Station is not unlike other railway stations that you may encounter in major countries but in Metropolitan Japan you may find similar countries with similar influences such as Singapore and the Philippines. Both were being occupied by Japan before and some stayed back to build their own community over the years.

Such as Ozone Station, it has a variety of shops, cafes, restaurants and convenience stores and a huge and spacious Oz Garden underground mall beneath it. There is a garden, a museum and sports dome within walking distance to it and a sprawl of budget and luxurious hotels around as well.

Akira and I were walking around in the business district window shopping at Kinokuniya, a super mega bookstore that ranges from paperbacks to hardbacks, fiction to non-fiction as well as covers languages from other countries as well.

Akira was browsing some paperback novels at the 'Romance' section and she was reading the back of the novel that was unfortunately shrink-wrapped. The cover was of a teenage couple and the title was "I will wait for you on the other side." The paperback novel was about 1 inch thick or so.

Seeing her hold the book and reading the title made my emotions that I suppressed to rise once more. I had no choice but to turn away and walk over to another aisle. There in the corner was a self-service kiosk where one can sit and have a cup of AGF Blendy Cafe Latory Coffee, Mocha or Tea to read their purchase.

Even I who had never made any purchase; but as an author of a WN; it do entitle me to have an AGF Blendy Cafe Latory Mocha Latte. 

I helped myself to the above and sat down on a circular table meant for 3. Sipping on the piping hot drink managed to soothe my imperfection. I was thinking of what the hell this Leap was about especially it managed to exploit my emotions so deep that it affected my next Leap.

Akira came back to me at the refreshment area with the book tightly clutched at her chest. The price tag I saw was ¥1, 589 which was considered quite alright for a paperback with around 120 - 180 pages thick. The most important is the clickbait title and its flashy book cover design. Any girl would fall for it. 

"Do you want the book...? Go ahead and buy it then... Since we are here, would you like me to get someone to unwrap for you so you could read a page or two?" 

I saw that Akira was biting her lower lip and clutching the book close to her chest. Through her body language, one can read without even saying a single word that she really desires the book and would not let it down no matter what. 

"Aahh... Let me guess; you wished to get a reward by your excellent swimming capabilities earlier right...? Then let me have the honour of rewarding this book to you then... Come, let me have the book and I get someone to gift wrap it for you... No need to unwrap the plastic to read; you may read it at home then... "

With that, she made a quick bow and handed the book outstretched in two hands. I told her to pick a wrapping gift and a ribbon and to come back to me and reassured her that I will not read the synopsis of the paperback novel. 

With that, she turned around and choose the wrapping paper and a ribbon at the 'gift section' and came back a while later. The book was placed facedown when I took from her as I can't bear the words of the title drilling at my mind and arousing my sorrow.

I quickly finished my drink and return the used porcelain cup to the washing area; took the book and placed it under my arm and head straight to the checkout counter. 

"Autograph the first page of the book and say something in it. It's customary for those who buy books for their girlfriend." 

She whispered to me and handed me a glittery ink gel pen as the salesgirl carefully unwrap the plastic shrink wrap and placed the book before me. 

I turned to the first title page and wrote the date and time stamp, then a remark for Akira to keep up with her progress signed my name and annotated my full name in bold below my signature. I blew on the writings for some time to let the ink dry before I closed the cover. I handed the paperback novel to the sales girl and she began to wrap it up like a dumpling before attaching the ribbon at the corner. 

I paid slightly over ¥2,100 for the book, wrapping paper, ribbon and wrapping services and promptly handed the gift over to Akira. She clutched it against her chest, thanked me and bowed slightly again. I gestured to her and made our way above ground to take the train back to our dorm. 

On our trip back while sitting next to one another, we took a selfie on our phone cameras with her holding the book and use making comical faces as we took one photo after another till we reached our stop. We alighted and laughingly compared the selfies we took while walking back. 

When we reached the entrance of the dormitory, she conveyed her thanks to me once again and slightly bowed again. I scratched the back of my head awkwardly not knowing what my next reaction would be... 

Should I kiss her forehead... Should I kiss her lips... Should I embrace her... Should I pat her head... Or should I chest bump her like what Bros do...? I was in a dilemma on what should I when she turned around, glanced at me and smiled before entering her premise. 

When she was out of sight and had closed the door after her, I stepped back and retreated to my own dorm. The only problem is I do not know which floor I am in and which room I should be entering into and worse... Which bed I should occupy on...! 

Ara ma...!!!

The woods were dark and cold, filled with wild animals and other things I didn't know exist. 

I walked through the woods for the rest of the night and I found a little cave and went inside to rest. I was so tried of walking, I decided to sleep there for the night.

It was cold, and wet in the cave. You could hear the dropping sounds of the water falling from the top of the cave, and smell was of the wast water from the rain mixed with old grass and dirt.

It was morning I woke up and the sun was shining right into the cave, it was really bright I thought someone was shining a flash light in my face. I got up and grabbed my book bag and walked out of the cave, I walked a few more miles through the woods. 

I was miles away from home. All on my own.  I have been out in these woods for only one night, I was happy to have brought a blanket and pillow with me because we have nap time in class, and I was gonna bring them home to wash but I can use them for now. 

I was walking for a few hours and I came across a rocky dirt road and I came across a house or what looked like a house.  I went inside and looked around, all the furniture was covers in thin white plastic covers, covered with dust. It looked like no one had lived there for almost a decade. 

I started to walk around and I come across a door half open, I looked in and it was a small child's room. The wallpaper was space themed.

"I bet this was a little boy"

*Loud bang* 
I heard a loud bang coming from under the house. I walked into the hallway and looked around, I saw no one, I started to walk downstairs to check out what that noise was.  

Once I got to the bottom of the stairs I saw a florescent light at the end of the hallway, I started to walk towards the light. The closer I got the creepier it got, and it's not you normal kind of creepy it the kind in the horror films.

The light would glow really bright and then slowly start to lose light, it went in and out. I was nervous, but I was curious to find out what was making the light do that. 

I got to the room with the weird light, I went to open the door a little more to go inside. Then I remembered to look through the crack before going in, I'm not dying tonight. All I know is that watching horror movies teaches me something, not a lot but some.

I looked through the door and there is this huge and I mean "HUGE" tank full of glowing neon green goo looking substitute. It would glow for one second then lose the glow immediately. 

It looked like an old science lab, it was kinda covered in dust, it all looked used recently cause some of the items were dusted off but not............

Safe Life Hospital
Ruby was at the VIP terrace, contemplating, deep in thought. Many questions were circling inside Ruby's head.
Why did Sam undergo plastic surgery? What was the reason? Why did he hide it from her? Can an injury change a person so drastically?
These thoughts kept nagging Ruby this whole time. Since last night, she had been patiently waiting for Sam to say something. She hoped that he would open up to her and clear the mess in her mind.
But no!
Sam was asleep the whole night. Even if he regained consciousness, he kept ignoring her and refused to speak a single word. Instead, he had been flirting with the nurse the whole day today. The Sam she knew was never like that. He had always been a responsible, mature and reserved person. These were the only things that drew her to him. 
'Go and confront him!' the devil whispered from her left. Ruby tightened her grip on the balcony's handrail. 
'It's never too late to wait', the angel whispered from her right.
Ruby shook her head to push her thoughts away. She was feeling helpless and numb.
"Miss?" she heard someone call her from behind.
Ruby turned her head a bit to take a look. She saw the nurse from before. A rage lit up her entire body. No matter what she could never ignore Sam.
"What is it?" She asked in a stern, detached voice without turning back.
"Sir… he was looking for… for you", the nurse stammered.
Ruby kept silent with no intention of turning back.
"Miss?" the nurse asked in a fear laced voice, "Miss, I… I apologize for my behavior earlier."
Ruby still did not budge and chose to keep silent. She drew in a sharp breath.
"Miss, I…" the nurse tried to explain.
"You can go", Ruby cut her off.
"Miss?"
"I said you can go. Now piss off!" Ruby almost growled in a low and menacing voice.
The nurse stepped back in fear and took to her feet within moments.
Ruby could feel herself shudder and her palms curled up into fists. Her shoulders were shaking uncontrollably. She gripped the handrail to control herself and her raging emotions.

Inside the VIP ward
"Did you manage to convince her? Did you apologize? Is she coming?" Sam asked hurriedly as soon as he saw the nurse enter. He tossed a piece of apple in his mouth from the fruit bowl kept nearby.
The nurse shook her head in defeat. Then, she spoke ardently, eyes filled with tears, "Ryan? Is this necessary? Why are you deceiving here? Why are you impersonating someone else?"
The guy named Ryan, [or Sam] became furious, "Do you care about her now? Whatever I am doing is for you. To have a good life with you. Do hear me?"
"Why are do you doing this?" the nurse broke down in tears, "For the sake of money? There is something wrong with your head!"
Just then, the door flew open. Both the nurse and 'Sam' were stunned.
"Ru-Ruby?" 'Sam' stammered.
Ruby's cold eyes flickered between the nurse and 'Sam'.
"Get out!" Ruby spoke in a low voice as she looked at the nurse coldly.
Without a word, the nurse ran out while trying to hide her tears. But, Ruby had already noticed it. She felt a bit confused.
"Ruby?" 'Sam' called out again. His heart was drumming wildly.
Ruby lifted up her butterfly lashes and her eyes landed on 'Sam'. 
"Who are you?" her voice was dry, like the autumn leaves.
"Wh-what?" 'Sam' stammered, "What do you mean?"
Ruby stepped closer and she spoke in a crinkly voice, "How can you change so much within one night, Sam? How?"
'Sam' breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed like he was overthinking it. She did not hear anything. 
"Baby, listen to me", he spoke in a cajoling voice, "I am sorry. I am really sorry."
Ruby squinted when she heard the word 'Baby'. When did he begin calling names?
"Ruby?" 'Sam' was starting to get impatient with her lack of response.
"You…" Ruby glanced at him, "You sleep. I will get the doctor to check on you."
'Sam' was a bit stunned when he saw Ruby leave. 'Sam' felt something was off. Did he mess something up?

Blue Bells Villa
Sara was lying on her bed with her back facing the door. She pulled on her covers and kept glancing at the puzzle created by the science books. She found it too coincidental. 
Why would someone deliberately change the book covers? What did they want her to find? Was it just a coincidence? Why did she not notice them earlier?
Sara suddenly thought of something. For the past seven years, she had rarely come back to the Villa. She had spent her time recuperating for two years through rigorous training. When she came back, she had established Tiara Jewels with her bare hands. The book covers must have been changed during this period.
Sara took a deep breath and sat up. She knew that something was there. Some kind of secret communication. Someone was trying to give her hints. But for what? She could not place her hands on it.
Why would anyone make use of an abstract painting?
There were numerous of them in her Villa.
Sara sat up straight. An invisible light bulb lit above her head. She threw off her covers and ran out of her room. That's right! She had a collection of abstract paintings. They were used as a sign of communication to get through the maze-like passages of the villa.
She ran through the corridors examining each of the abstract paintings. Various kinds of abstract paintings were there. From animals and birds to humans, from color blasts to neutral. But, she could not find the one like the puzzle. She was confused. She found it way too similar. She knew she had seen it somewhere.
But, where?
Feeling defeated, she cursed her 'so-called' high IQ. While strolling back, she glanced at the closed door of her parents' room and sighed. She was about to walk away when a second thought struck her.
She moved back and pushed open the door to her parents' room. She glanced around with a new zeal. The room was similar to Sara's. But it was way bigger than hers. The furniture was arranged in a similar way and was painted neon pink. On the walls was her family portrait of three. One was where her Dad was smiling and sitting in between, her Mom on his left, head tilted and smiling while her hands rested on his shoulder. She was on his right. She too had her hands placed on his shoulder and her head was leaning on him. They were all smiling. They were happy. Sara sighed.
While looking at the portrait, she stumbled upon something, she had least expected to see.

Saying so, she jumped down but was held back and pushed into a corner. He aimed at her lips, nibbling them gently, "Mrs. Brown, don't you like when it's out of the script?" 
"Mmm-hmm", she moaned, enjoying the kiss.

The phallic creature stood erect as the sun set. The moment the sun exited the hole and was replaced by the moon, the threads dug and curled underground to form a cage around the clam.
"Hi! I'm back!" The creature began waving its thin wispy threads around.
"Nothing like a nice big meal to fill you right up!" Suddenly the threads all shot up straight in excitement.
"I was just reading! Plenty of new things to refresh myself with! Humans are just so funny! Conflicts over what color they are hah! That book is a real treasure! Covers just about anything and everything! … Just not this dump…" The threads began waving around, stirring up dust and fogging up the entire room.
"Speaking of which the scheduled dump is coming soon! Absolutely can't wait for that! Plenty of treasures to be found! Anyways let me show you my treasure!"  As the threads coiled and looped around a chunk of concrete that was directly under the origin of the threads…  "No! Where is it! Who took it!" It was revealed that there was an empty rectangular hole under the chunk of concrete lifted out. Within that hole, there was another circular hole which was where the thief entered and stole the book.
"Senny! Alejandros! Where's my book!"
Nearby Alejandros with his newly colored shell skittered across the ceiling and almost fell down along with a piece of damp metal. Meanwhile, Senny bit and chewed into the concrete debris that was packed around the larger chunks to form an almost airtight wall. 
Alejandros, fearing for his life, exclaimed "It was Jonathan! He did it! He took it and ripped it apart to decorate his home!"
"Why how? The whole bunker would've collapsed if he tried to come in! That meatball's too fat to tunnel anywhere these days! You lie! Where's my book!" The wisps of threads bunched together like cotton candy. "You've eaten it haven't you!"
"Hang on! Hang on! We might get a book in this dump! You still have hope! Anyways haven't you been looking at that old thing for several hundred days now!? You've probably memorized it with that big brain up top!" Skittering around in circles from the ground onto the ceiling, it maintained the same distance from the cloud of threads while at the same time relieving its nervousness.
"That's still a loss! I'd have two books if that was the case! All for some extra pigments on your shell!" several threads burst out and struck the surrounding walls and ceiling, spraying dust everywhere.
"Hey! My shell is my pride!" The shelled creature stood indignantly, facing its shell to the ball of cotton candy.
"Whatever… I'll just take the loss…" The ball of cotton candy began to droop down, collapsing until it was a flattened pancake of threads.
With that the concrete was about to slam upwards was put down, filling in the space it had left earlier. Dust plumed up and filled the air.
"How about I practice being a human! Can't take away personal progress! It would be better than reading a book if I was able to participate in the book!" The pancake began to balloon upwards while keeping its solid surface. "They're having a war too! It'll be extra fun!"
With that statement more dust fell from the ceiling. "That must be the dump! Hah in my years here I've only found one book! I can't wait to see the look on Alejandros's face when he comes back with nothing! Hah!" The balloon began to pump its side in and out after.
 
--Outside--
Across the hills of the dump site, a curious little shelled creature scuttled across, darting into every possible crevice and back out again.
"Where is the book, I need the book. Otherwise bad things will happen to me. I'll get killed when I bite him again. This is bad… What if I search on the surface of the pile. Surely I can spot the colors better if I search from there!" The little bug began to surface, bursting out of the ground like a bamboo shoot.
"No no no this isn't working out. Maybe if I give him something other than a book… Maybe this?" Finding a curious piece of plastic which it had never seen before, it stopped its rush to circle around and observe it. "Aha! This should do!"
"This little thing which I've never seen before and therefore he hasn't seen before! Almost exactly like him! What a nice sculpture! Hah I'm saved!"
Diving deeper into the mound of trash which only got taller since the trash was only dumped at one site was a difficult task especially after everything shook and fell and closed all the openings. Between scrambling through the thick dust which seemed to never settle and attempting to navigate around large pieces of junk, Alejandros decided to turn around and pop back out where he entered.
"Wait what? Where am I? Wait, I'm back where I started? What? How could this be? With my impeccable sense of direction I couldn't have gotten lost!" 
"Back into the pile I go again!"
"Aha! I found it! The pile of concrete! Almost solid! Luckily he has long legs to digest things! Nice and big easy target! Now I just gotta find the hole Senny made!" It hit a layer in which it turned from a random assortment of plastic to a consistent fine powder. Under the entire thing, it began skimming the top of the solid to find an entrance.
"Hey! Hey! Hey! I found something!" The shell creature burst in through the hole while holding the phallic object with its back two legs.
"Is it a book?" The ballon deflated and diffused to once more become a ball of cotton candy.
"Well… It's better than a book! Look at this sculpture! A picture is worth a thousand words and a sculpture is worth a thousand pictures! This is basically a book! Aha!" The shelled creature passed the object under its body and between its legs before finally holding it up like a trophy with its front two.
"It's just a petrified mushroom… Nothing new… Nothing unexpected… Whatever…" THe ball of cotton candy deflated once more to become a pancake.
"Wait what? You've seen it before? How could that be? This is special!" The cockroach waved around the object wildly.
"I read about it in the book dummy. Of course you wouldn't know since you don't read. Hah! You get the reason I read now!?" The pancake inflated once more to become a ball of cotton candy as it gloated.
"What reason? Don't you just like staring at those colors?" The cockroach placed down the phallic object.
"What no! I'm learning! Do you even know as much as me!?" Threads burst out once more, stabbing into the walls.
"You read too much! It's not fair! You've read that book hundreds of times!" The cockroach turned its back to the ball of threads once more.
"Hey! I only get barely ten minutes a day! You call that too much!? That's barely enough! If I was topside I could read all day!" The ball of threads diffused a bit more and a dark object in the shape of the object the cockroach had brought in appeared.
"Yeah but we can't go topside or else we'll be captured! You saw what happened to Nicky!" The cockroach turned to face the ball once more.
"I know… but I've always wanted to…" The ball of threads compressed itself once more into a pancake.
"Yeah well we're us and they're them. They'll never accept us. You know that."
 
--Somewhere--
"Is that alive?"
"It's certainly moving."
"Could it be a drone?"
"That's too big for a normal cockroach. I know that, therefore it couldn't be a real cockroach."
"Does that look like a drone to you?"
"Could any electronics survive the radiation levels in that place?"
"Well how do you explain it then?"
"Could be a military drone, testing electronics in high radiation levels."
"The movement and coordination is too random to be a drone."
"Well the landfill is technically a public space, we could go look at it."
"Yeah go send someone to search and retrieve it."

Humanity is throwing an ever increasing amount of scrap into landfills. 
Plastics which no organism can digest. 
Chemicals so toxic no organisms known to man dare touch.
Yet life finds a way amidst all this.
The plastic can be absorbed as modular armor.
The chemicals contain potent energy in their compositions.


Kavita scrolled through Pari's selfies on her phone and smiled. Tens of them. Tongue sticking out and eyes popping, lips puckered in a kissing pose, making a victory sign with Sameer, cuddling with Kavita. She stopped at her own photo and enlarged her image. 
A middle-aged woman, a trifle tired. There were beginnings of laugh lines around the black oval eyes, the texture of the skin grainy to her touch. She looked at her hair. She had refused to dye it when it had started turning grey. And now it was more white than black. She remembered a line from W.H. Auden, 'My face looks like a wedding-cake left out in the rain.' She switched off the phone. 
The wall clock, an antique wooden piece with a cracked minute hand she had bought scouring the streets of old Delhi, announced it was one in the afternoon. Another two hours before the kids came back from school. Ammaji had made dum aloo and palak mushroom for lunch. Tania would be pleased. 
She walked to the living room where her book collection was displayed in two built-in pine book cases. Sameer used to joke she loved her books more than the kids. She pulled Poisonwood Bible, one of her favorites, and opened the book at a random page. Orleanna, the mother, responding to her daughters' accusation that she never had a life of her own, but had given everything for either her husband or the girls. I get you, Orleanna.
The touch of her hand on the cool page felt good. Each book reminded her of the time when she read it. Margaret Mitchell's Gone with the Wind reminded her of her honeymoon in the backwaters of Kochi, she was reading it when their slow boat had camped for the night under a starlit sky. The Color Purple of newborn Tania, she had been reading it before she went into labor. Philip Roth's Operation Shylock of Pari's first day at school, she had read it on the way to pick her up. Many of these stories were real to her. She had laughed, cried and despaired with them. She put the Poisonwood Bible back to its assigned space on the book shelf. The books were arranged in an alphabetical order  by author's last name. Kingsolver, Barbara. 
The night before when Sameer told her about the new Financial Controller not having been announced, she hadn't known how to react. Should she have told him he would get it? Or told him what she really felt  that all of this  chasing these imaginary rungs of ladder didn't matter. All that mattered was his being happy  and he could find happiness in the here and now if he tried to. But Sameer seemed to live in a state of constant anticipation. 
The living room was lit with a soft golden glow the sun imbued through the sheers; the heavy jacquard curtains had been drawn apart over the glass doors that opened to the balcony. The rays filtering through made a neat trapezium on the wall opposite that was full of family pictures. Kavita had made a conscious effort not to clutter the space this area afforded. Four pieces of green chenille sofas  a three-seater, a love seat and two singles  faced the plasma TV on the far wall, in a semi-circle. A triangle shaped glass topped coffee, with sleek teak legs, over an area rug of blue and grey waves, sat between the sofa and the TV. 
She turned on the record player, an artefact of a bygone era. Her father's wedding gift. They had both loved listening to music together and it came to represent the good times they shared. She still had some vinyl records, carefully wrapped in plastic covers, songs from movies of the sixties and seventies. She sifted through the records and selected one. Aandhi. R.D. Burman. She sat down on the sofa as Kishore Kumar's sonorous voice filled the room.

Liam's thoughts are in a mix right now, CEO? He thought the lady was just an interrogation lady, not the fucking owner of a police station.


"Any questions regarding me before I continue?"


Liam just just raised his hand but his elbow is not getting off the table.


"What is it, boy"


Liam just covers his face and sighs.

"I'm just wondering… why is the CEO of the. Ounikk? Police Guard Station here to interrogate us…?

I was expecting a normal guard.

Not the CEO…"


The lady stays silent before answering.

The Old Lady clears her throat as she pulls out a record book and puts it on the table.

There you have a confession.

The Old Lady is quiet but is not moved by the sudden confession.

She hides the book.


"I guess there's no need to show evidence as you confessed already. We do not usually get fast confessions so I appreciate you want this to end much faster as I do."


Joseph turns around and just gets stared at by a guard which he kind of freaked out and turns back to the corner again.

"Okay then. Let's start to end this.

First, why did you- No. Why did you all do the crime? You all know it's against the law to bathe in public fountains."


Liam knew this was coming as he breathed in and out and he looked at the old lady.


"Okay. You're probably not going to believe us when I say this. I guarantee that. But.

We are siblings from another world.


We were sent by this lady who has like… the average breast of someone who had a successful plastic surgery.


And she's just very… weird. Overall."


Liam just shrugged after saying that.


Madleyn sees Yhua is a little bit scared and creeped out by the lady, so she pats her back.


"It's alright, Yhua, It's going to be okay.

Yhua is even more creeped out.

The Old Lady asks.


Liam went silent and turned to his siblings.

"Oi. Do any of you remember the lady's name. You know the one that sent us here?"


Joseph just turned his head around to say "Ehuthia" before facing the wall again.


Melanie just too remembers it now.

"Ah yes! Ehuthia. That's her name. She was a nice lady even though she was weird at some times."


The lady raises an eyebrow.

"Really. Well show your badges."


Liam just seems like he wants to die.

But he searches for his badge as so the others, at least they try to.


It didn't take long before Liam found his fighter badge.


It's very heavy and it just sticks to you like a normal sticker.


"Here. Proof. I don't know what this is called but I'm sure this is what you're looking for."


The lady looks at it.

She pulls out a magnifying glass as she looks at it even from a far distance.

"Wait really??? So does that mean we're released???"


The old lady fixed her glasses.

"Consider yourselves lucky."


Joseph jumped up in the air and faced his siblings.

"Swish… swish… swish…"

The sound of the waves crashing down over itself is what the young man first heard upon waking up. He was lying over a sandy beach, with his right hand clasping his bag that he luckily grabbed as he was being tossed around in the air by the erratic spinning of the plane cabin.

"Cough… cough…cough… "

He started to cough out water and sand as he tried to carry himself up, using his left arms as support. He started rotating his head around as he tried to familiarize himself to his new found environment.

The sun was shining brightly in the sky, turning his pale face slightly red. As his clouded vision starts to return, he was able to understand his current situation. He was currently standing up, with shaking knees caused by the trauma that he suffered from the plane fall, on a rocky shoreline. A few meters from the shore is the start of a lush forest with overgrown vines.

The forest was shadowy and dull. It was overgrown with many tall trees with thick branches. There were only small patches of light that can penetrate the broad leaves of the trees. Many of it was most probably several decades old, basing from their trunk's height and thickness.

"Where in the world am I!? What is this place!?"

The befuddled young man shouted in a frustrated and scared manner, but as to be expected nobody answered his questions. His questions all flew with the wind, and so was his hoarse voice caused by his repeated shouting.

Realizing that his call was all for naught, he began to organize his thoughts and calmed his currently flustered mind and emotions. As he settled down to his calmer self, he began to think of the things that he needed to do in order to survive on this ordeal. He began to draw up a priority list of things that he needed while he was removing his clothes and putting them in the beach to dry.

He was now naked aside from his trousers. While waiting for his clothes to dry off, he opened up his bag and hang it upside-down to drop all of the items inside it to the ground. He scattered his items around as he began making a mental note of the things that he can use on this island. As he was checking the items, he noticed a small yellow book amongst the pile. He grabbed the book by his hand and started reading the imprints in its cover.

After reading the title of the book, his lips began to curve as it slowly turned into a smile and then into a burst of laughter. 'How serendipitous', he thought as he opened it up from the plastic cover that was protecting it from foreign materials. Upon tearing away the clear plastic cover protecting the book, a paper slip fell down from it.

Reading the paper slip, a smile formed in his face while he remembered all the antics that he did with John. They first met during high school. They both had the same likes and dislikes, so they hit off really well. Their friendship continued until college, even when he left to transfer to another school in his last two years in high school.

Who would have thought that a joke gift sent to him by his best friend would end up to become one of the most important things that he has in his possession? He opened up the book in his hands and began skimming through the book.

"This book will become my lifeline here as I stay in this island," he commented as he stopped skimming through the book. He closed it and wrapped it back with the clear plastic cover. He set it aside for now as he organized the items that he needs versus the items that he doesn't need inside his bag.

After a couple of minutes, he had trimmed out his luggage to the bare essentials. He didn't throw away the items but rather put them beside the trunk of the tree nearest to him. 'I might have some use for them later' he thought as he wore his dried clothes while preparing for his first journey into the forest.

His first priority would be to locate a source of water. While he did carry a large bottle of water that he bought prior to riding the plane with him, even if he used it sparingly it will not be enough for a week. Understanding that, he chose to dive deep into the forest in hopes of finding a clear pond or a small waterfall.

As of now, he isn't concerned with his food as he has a couple of energy bars inside his bag. It was enough to last him for a week, and even if he runs out of it he can catch some fish in the sea as his food. He could also look for some wild berries and fruits inside the forest.

He grasped the Swiss army knife in his right hand, with its small knife out from its case, as he trudged along the forest. The forest was full of life as various insects can be heard in it. There were even birds singing as they fly around the forest, busy catching some small bugs for food.

"This forest really feels alive and dead at the same time. There seems to be a lot of animals here, but it reeks of death. I don't understand this situation." He commented as he continued his way deeper into the forest.

The deeper he went, the larger the trees are and the sparser the sunlight becomes. It became eerily dark and there were no more birds chirping in the sky. At this point in time, he had already walked a few hundred meters from the shore where he woke up.

The sun was directly above his head, denoting that it was noon. He took a short break from traveling and went below the shade of a tree nearby. After seating uncomfortably in one of its big above-ground roots, he took one of his energy bars and started munching it. After finishing it entirely, he drank a small portion of his water.

Satiated and rested, he stood up from the root of the tree and he starts anew with his exploration. Just as he was about to leave the area, a sudden rustling of the bushes attracted his attention. Unsure of what the cause of the rustling is, he grabbed the wooden spear that he himself has fashioned earlier after discovering a tall and strong stick.

He grabbed the spear with his two arms, directing the sharp point of the spear towards the area where the rustling occurred. He walked towards the area in a slow and almost tapping manner. His arms were shaking slightly while holding the spear, as the sweat from his eyes brows to his left cheek.

While he was undergoing immense nervousness, he was also on high alert with adrenaline rushing on his head. He suddenly jumped towards the bush, with the spear still pointed in it, once he felt that he was near enough to reach it.

Upon landing behind the bush, he immediately gazed around the area with his senses on high alert in case someone or something might attack him from a blind spot. However, upon seeing what was in the area, his face was first filled with confusion which was quickly replaced by relief and joy. The tension-filled atmosphere that he had a moment ago disappeared like it was not there, to begin with.

What he found was, in fact, a deer. An orange-coated, spotted deer. It was eating the tall grass nearby when the young man landed in front of it. Scared by the sudden appearance of a man holding a wooden spear with his hands, it scurried as far away as possible and as fast as possible.

Seeing the deer flee from his, the young man was just standing on the same area where he had landed to from his long jump with no intention of moving any time soon. He was deliberating inside his mind if he should hunt that deer for food. After all, even if knew the know-how of how to hunt wild animals from the survival book, he had not hunted or killed any wild animals before.

Not only that but he was also unwilling to keel a deer. He was only a normal college student up until a few hours ago and the only thing that he killed in his entire life was a mosquito.

It was too late anyway even if he decided to kill the deer as it had already run so far away from his that he was not able to see it anymore. Sighing from his own lack of decisiveness, he continued on his journey to look water.

An hour had passed and he was still not able to find any source of water. It was in the middle of the afternoon and night time was sure to soon follow. He decided that it was the right time for him to go back to his temporary base area.

As he was going back, he began collecting tall and strong sticks and a few branches with leaves in it. He was going to use them for creating a basic survival shelter in accordance with what the book had instructed.

It took him slightly half an hour to reach back to his temporary base area. It was quite easy for him to go back as the sound of the crashing waves became an important indicator if the shore was nearby. After reaching the area, he went near the tree where he had hidden the rest of the things that he wasn't going to need while exploring. Fortunately for him, there were still there.

Most of the items hidden beside the tree were his extra clothes, a couple of books, some of his personal care products, an extra pair of shoes, and his laptop. All of it was wet from being submerged in the ocean, so before he left he put them directly in sunlight to dry. This was especially the case for the books as he was planning on using them for igniting a fire.

Assured that the items were still there, he began to work on creating a temporary shelter for himself tonight. He was going to construct a lean-to shelter. It was a simple shelter of only composing a roof that was supported on only one side, while the rest of the roof covers the back. It might not be best for the long term, but it was good for sheltering him tonight.

He first created a clearing near the tree where his stuff was placed, checking first if the ground was soft enough for digging but hard enough to hold a stick. Next, he put a couple of big, flat rocks that he found along the way back in his temporary base area at two locations. He began to hammer four short sticks using another thicker stick around each rock sites as it served as locks, keeping the rocks from moving away from their place position.

Next, he began to place a couple of those long sticks on top of the two rock sites, making a sort of bridge between the two sites. He then hammered two sticks in each side of the "bridge" to lock the sticks in place. This "bridge" will serve as his bed while using this temporary shelter.

Next, he hammered two long and big sticks in the side of the rock pile on to the ground, with a gap of a couple of inches between the pile and the stick. The two sticks had two branches sticking out of its end, forming a "Y" shape. He placed a long stick on to the branching out parts of the sticks, creating a sort of stick rack or clothesline.

Then, he placed all of the sticks that he had on the stick rack structure, with its lower end slanted to the ground. He began looking for more sticks as the sticks that he had were not enough. Finally gathering enough sticks to cover the entire length of the stick rack, he began putting on the light branches with leaves on it on the top of the layers of sticks.

He adjusted the leaves until he was satisfied with the roof that he had. Moving slightly backward to view his entire creation, he was proud of it as it was his first time creating something like it.

Next, he began to clear an area in front of the shelter that he created. He gathered some big rocks around him and placed them in a ring-like formation. He also dug out some of the soil beneath the area where placed the rock formation.

He was essentially creating a fire pit. As the sun sets in the horizon and the moon slowly emerges from the other side, it was time for him to settle down and sleep through the night. He gathered some of the dried books and tore out a couple of their pages. He placed the torn out pages into the fire pit while he pulled out a lighter from his bag.

He was indeed lucky to have a lighter as he did not need to follow the instructions of the book on how to create his own fire by rubbing two sticks. He got this lighter as a give away from buying a pack of cigarette for his father while he was still on the airport.

As the fire starts to get bigger inside the pit, he tossed out a couple of small dried branch on it. The flame began to get bigger as more wood was tossed inside the pit. While he continuously gazed on the dancing fire, his mind was slowly processing the crazy situation that he was now in to and the even crazier event that caused it.

A major plane accident. An unknown island full of danger. A lone survivor.

Chapter 30 Evil Book Part 2
As if drunk off the power that I now know that I weald I smirk finds my lips, my hands sweet as a clench my grip on the book even tighter.  The door before me opens, there she is, Cassy, her blond beehive hair, lanky Scandinavian form, crevasses hips and milk-tanks that look like honeydew. She is dressed in all white as she typically is after work; a ruffled silk blouse, laird skirt, tube socks and flat-bottomed shoes. This is in opposition to the men under her that she orders into boiler suits. Cassy is better than them, and she is not afraid to let them know it. 
     In her right-hand Cassy is holding a set of keys; the key to the house is pinched in-between her pointer and thumb, dangling below that is the key to her muscle car, on a second ring can be found the keys to her office and a chain with a doll of a cartoon cat she found in France. In her left hand is a plastic bag with the logo on it from our local taco house.  The smell of grilled onion is thick on her.
     Cassy throws the bag at me with an intoxicating smile. "Anything fun happen today?"
     I tell her how I 'flipped a property' I left out the part about finding a magic book.
     "I see Asia is here, should I go get some more tacos?"
     Cassy doesn't expect a thing. I am twitching in anticipation already. 'no,' I explain 'the drive from here to her office is shorter than the drive home, she needs to be back at work early. She is asleep in the guest room.' Most of that is true, Cassy believes me.
     We step into the den together, we have a dining room, but Cassy only likes to eat here with her friends, I'm just as happy in the TV room myself. I watch Cassy as we eat, somehow, she doesn't notice the book sitting on my lap as we eat, that or she doesn't care. I hear Anya whimper in the basement as she awakens. Cassy seems not to.
     Cassy gets up to go wash up; I can't wait any longer. I need to try the book again! Slyly I stand up, I hold the book out, and with both hands, I pull it open, my head turned away from the light. Having evaded the flash this time I get to watch as the book takes effect. 
One of the mice in our walls gets pulled across the room. Then into Cassy's hands, the mouse then turns to light and get sucked into her breast. Cassy shrinks about a foot and a half; white fur covers her body, her eyes turn red, her feet ark, she grows claws, a long fleshy tail, four extra teats under her meaty breast, whiskers, and fangs. I dreamt about how my life would change the day I would meet my other half. I thought about how my life would change with him around. I looked out the rolled down car window coming back to reality. I looked at the trees as we drove by. I noticed they  were a nice shade of light green. The trunks were a light color. The sun beaming down my face was a bright shade of light yellow mixed with orange and red. The sun was warm beaming down on my face. I closed my eyes letting the soft rays hit my eyelids and my cheeks. The drive was long coming into Montana. The trees over took all the land, turning them into deep forests. The roads would curve and turn like a slithering snake, around the groups of large trees. It was a long drive coming from Maine To Montana. It was 38 hours to be exact. 38 hours of being on the road, Stopping at gas stations, and sleeping inside the car. Once we arrived at our destination. Which was The Great Falls of Montana near Flathead National Park and near the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. Me, My mom and my Lil brother Kyle were about to hit our destination. We were four hours away from our house with the U-Haul trailer in the back with our stuff. "Mom, how much longer?" Kyle asked with an exhausted voice."4 hours." Mom replied looking at Kyle through the rear view mirror. "What cha doin back there?" I asked curiously, wondering what my little brother was up to. I noticed he had his sketch book out, stroking the wooden pencil on the paper. "I'm drawing." He responded going back to stroking the pencil lightly across the paper. "What cha drawing?" I asked him as he looked up and turned the sketch book towards me. It was a little bird standing on a branch. " Wow! Bro, that's amazing! You should totally join a drawing club when we enroll in school!" I encouraged. He slightly was embarrassed and shrugged. "I highly doubt it." He said in a doubtful voice. "Oh come on Kyle!" I whined. I gave him puppy dog eyes. "Please, at least try out for art or something!" I encouraged as he stared at me with cringe. "Okay fine! But only because your puppy dog eyes are cringey!" He exclaimed as he looked at me with disgust. "Then it was worth the cringe" I said winking at him. He sighed in annoyance. I loved my brother. But, he always doubted himself. It had been 4 hours and we finally made it to our destination.

It was the home away from home that mom always wanted. Away from the noise. The neighborhood was quiet. It was our own little escape from civilization. Mom parked in the driveway and turned off the engine. She twisted the key off, taking her seat-belt off and opening the door, and exiting. Me and Kyle did the same and followed her to the back of the U-haul truck. Mom took off the lock and pulled up the metal hinge and opened the back. of the U-haul. "Kyle take the keys and open the door. It's the silver one." Mom said handing the keys over to Kyle grabbing some boxes and handing me some. Kyle ran towards the door unlocked it and opened it wide for us to come in. Mom followed me in first and we put down the boxes in the front of a staircase. The house was so lively and roomy. I forgot to breathe. "Come on Avi. We'll be able to look around once everything is put away." Mom said as she walked outside. We repeated this several times as Kyle also helped lighten the load of boxes.Once the U-haul was empty. We decided to grab out our moving bags. We went out to the trunk of the car. It was a black Model X Tesla. Very roomy. Mom opened it with her phone and the truck opened by itself.Each one of us grabbed their own bag. I grabbed a rolling bag and yanked the hinge up so I could roll it inside the house. I grabbed a red duffle bag and pulled it over my shoulder along side a red backpack. I pulled that one on my other shoulder. Kyle had the same except the bags were blue and mom's were purple. She closed the trunk and locked the car and we made it inside the house safe and sound. "Alrighty, you two. Go up to your rooms and put your stuff away. The movers did their job already so their should be boxes of your room stuff in there." Mom said as she placed down the bags in the living room.There were two living rooms this one and another one. I looked over quickly to see how big it was.It was more bigger than expected. It has more space. A fire place on one side of the wall. A couch, two tables on the side with lamps and a wall in front, with a tv in the middle and shelves to put decor in. I was truly amazed. Me and Kyle quickly went up the stairs and looked at the doors to our rooms.

As soon as you walked up the stairs you saw two rooms in the opposite sides of the staircase. The left one was Kyle's and the one on the right was mine. "I'll see you in a bit for go time?" Kyle asked. "Oh yeah." I said as we quickly went into our rooms and started unpacking. I went into mine. I got a perfect view of the trees surrounding me and all the green. My room was grey and I had a door slide closet. It was great. I place my duffle bag and backpack on the bed and on my rectangular chair I placed my roller suitcase horizontally to match it's figure. I placed my hand on the zipper on the back and glided my hand around the back un-zipping it. I then took out clothes, under garments and all my makeup. I had place the clothes on the bed and decided to start matching clothes and have an outfit for each day that way I wouldn't waste time picking out what I wanted to wear. Once I had all my outfits hanged. Which only took me 15 minutes since I had put them in order before we left Maine.For tomorrow, I decided to wear a red long sleeved sweater, black leggings, and black high heeled boots. I placed it on the outside of my closet. It was hanging on the opened closet door in front of all my other outfits hanging in there already. I sighed in relief. I had put all my under garments in the drawers inside the closet beside my hanging space and my duffle bag, backpack and suit case already empty. Except for my makeup in the roller suitcase. I grabbed that and I decided until my vanity didn't come I would put my makeup in the bathroom out in the hall. I grabbed my plastic organized boxes and walked out into the hallway.



The bathroom was huge. I decided to place my plastic makeup organized boxes on the far right side of the counter that way if Kyle wants to use the restroom he isn't gonna be bothered by it. Once I placed them down. I walked out of the bathroom and back into my room. I put the duffle bag on the mattress part of my windowsill and my roller case next to my bed.As for my backpack, I left it on the far left, So I could get my boxes that were in front of my bed against the wall that had all my belongings. I quickly searched and organized and then put all the school stuff inside my backpack. Once that was done. I put my backpack on the windowsill of the opposite side of my bright red duffle bag. I went towards my closet to grab some pjs. I grabbed some red shorts and a red tank top followed by a bright red jacket. If you couldn't tell by now. My favorite color is red. I quickly ran to close my door and started to change. Once finished I put my worn clothes into the hamper in the restroom and walked towards my brother's room barefoot. At the door way of my brother's room. It was the same design as mine but more of a boy feeling towards it he had a mirror and a dress off to the side. It matched the wood that famed to windows and the ceiling fan. "Hey bro. You ready to play yet?" I asked as Kyle stood up from fixing a sketch painting he had made in his room. He sighed. He then walked towards me." Your goin down!" He said with a look of competition in his eyes. I stuck out my tongue. "You wish!" I said as we both raced down towards the living room. We saw mom had already unpacked all the boxes fairly quickly and we went towards the front of the tv to plug in cables to connect our consoles. We had an Xbox One and a PS4. We decided we would play on our PS4."What game should we play?" Kyle asked looking at me with 3 games in each hand not sure what to pick."Ooooo! A horror game!" I looked at Kyle and we both had an evil smile. "You guys better sleep tonight! Because if I hear you two feel asleep in school I'm taking away your consoles!!" Mom yelled from the kitchen. Me and Kyle looked at each other in silence and laughed. "Let's go!" We decided to turn off the living room lights. We sat on the couch ready to play Friday The 13th. We stayed up til 10pm and decided we wanted to sleep on the couch. It was already 10:20pm. "Alrighty, let's call it a night." I said as Kyle nodded. We had played like 15 rounds of Friday The 13th. I had won multiple times. We had to bring blankets and pillows down to the living room just because we were too into the game. Kyle grabbed his pillow and blanket. Me and him were on opposite sides of the couch. I was going to sleep on the right and he was going to sleep on the left. We had turned off the tv and consoles before going to sleep and saying night to mom and giving her good night kisses. Once we laid down and snuggled into our covers. Kyle spoke."Hey, sis?" "Yea, bro?" I asked him."What is high-school gonna be like?" He asked. He was only 15 but acted like a 18 year old. He was taller than me. He was 5"11 and I was 4"11. I was pretty small compared to my mom. Which she was 5"1. My dad on the other hand was 5"10.  Its weird how height works."Drama, Gossip, New friends." I finished. I looked towards him and he looked up to the ceiling."What if I don't have any friends??" He asked blankly. I sat up and stared at him. "You'll have friends. You'll make new ones. You just gotta know what crowd to be with." I said reassuring him. He smiled."Thanks sis." He said as he turns to the side looking out towards the tv. I laid down again. To my side facing out towards the tv. I pulled the covers over my shoulders."Night bro." "Night sis."
We both laid our heads on our soft pillows and we drifted off to fell asleep.
