Aadya parked her scooter in the parking area of her building. She decided to take a small walk in the garden before heading home. she was completely puzzled by what happened in RM entertainment today. suddenly Within three days she has to leave for Jhan kumb .There is a lot of work to complete here in the city.

Aadya has been living alone for the last 9 years. No one in this world knows where her parents and other relatives are except Uncle Charles. Even her neighbours and close friends don't know what mysteries this girl has within her. They only know that she is bold and carries the courage to do everything alone. She had dropped her studies long back when she was 15 . When all her friends were celebrating their success in matric exam in a hotel, she was washing heavy utensils in the same hotel. The only relief was that she didn't have a family to look after, she only had to make for herself . But I guess that isn't a relief for her,instead she would die to have a family. she literally was running from one job to the other to make the ends meet .that's when she met Mr.cather who was running a small catering business. Meeting him in her life was really a great relief for her. Mr.cather was a regular costumer at the cafe Aadya was working in. But then he saw her everywhere he would go. movie theatres, convenience store, restaurants ,cafes ...like literally EVERY WHERE!.. Cather was in a shock how a 15 year little girl like her work so much!! He decided to ask her about her difficulties one day when she was working in the convenience store. He put the things he wanted to buy on the desk and when she was scanning them he asked "why do you work so much? Are your parents ill?" Aadya raised her head and looked at him with a doubt .Her expressions were screaming a question " can I trust him?".Seeing that Cather quickly responded " I am not a bad guy..I was just curious ..it's ok if you don't want to say.." and then tittered a little . Aadya looked down and picked an item and holding the scanning machine said in a low and despondent voice said " I don't have parents or any relatives" . Cather was shocked and then he apologized quickly and then asked " Then why do you work so much if you only have to fill your stomach" Aadya took a brief paused and then looking straight into cather's eyes she said " I have a person I want to defeat,and for that I want to make more and more money" Her eyes were Fierce and had a strong sense of resentment . Cather didn't ask her any thing after that .He was shocked by seeing how much hate this 15 year old has in her eyes. After collecting his products he stopped and asked her " Do you want to work for me? I run a catering business". Aadya looked at him again with a doubt. Then Cather smiled and said " it seems like you don't trust anyone easily . but if you work for me I will pay you well . these part time jobs doesn't pay you much I guess ". He placed his card on the table and then said " come to my shop tomorrow at 10 am . you can bring a friend if you are scared . Think about it  ...it could change your future." ...and then he left.
little aadya thought for a whole night and then decided to go to him . She was a little scared , because this was the first time someone showed her kindness. She went there alone .Not that she didn't wanted to take a friend ,but she didn't have a friend who would come with her .There on the end of the street she saw Mr.cather's shop and Mr.cather standing outside it.
And that's how Aadya ended up with catering business . She started working there since 15 , but she was just an employee back then . And as time passed she became a partner of his business. Cather's business just kicked off when Aadya started to work with him .Her ideas were brilliant and helped the shop very much. Even after working together for 4 years Mr.cather never asked Aadya about her personal life and who does she hold resentment with, and neither did she tell him .They have a very mutual bond , which is related to work only.

Aadya went up to her apartment. as soon as she opened the door someone jumped up on her .Aadya smiled and said "Pluto,I know I am late..sorry dear ,mama had to meet someone". Yes Pluto is Aadya' s little dog,And probably the only one who has seen her inside out . He knows that his mama is not hot headed always. Being her companion for the last 9 years ,He is the only one who has seen her soft side". And I guess the only one she can say 'hers' in this world.
Aadya took a shower . And removed the suitcase to pack her things . She is supposed to leave the city after a day in order to reach Jhan kumb before their workshops begin. And before that she has to think of a way to explain to Mr.Cather why she has to leave the catering business in the middle and go far from the city . With all these questions running in her mind she did the house chores and then packed her clothes . After finishing up her work she jumped into the bed in breath of satisfaction ,that she has made best use of the day by working from day to night. Her eyes were  getting drowsy ,and soon were shut tight . 
Around 3pm at night , Aadya started sweating alot .It was like she was having a terrific dream .she turned  both the sides to make her self comfortable..her breathing started getting heavy. She pulled out the sheets forcefully. pluto sitting next to her was helping her to wake up . she woke up in a jerk, and sat there blankly for a minutes and then suddenly Tears started rolling out of her eyes ...she tightly held pluto  in her arms. This was not a new thing for her. Almost everyday for the past 9 years ,she wakes up to this dream . And as each time goes by the dream becomes more and more terrific. If there is anything in this world she is scared of ,it would be this dream which is something that actually happened that night ...9 years ago. The night when she lost everything she had in her life .

It was already 9 pm when Alonzo came back in S city. He reached at his apartment and after taking a bath, he quickly ate his dinner which had been delivered by his assistant, as his maid and cook would be joining for the house course from the next day.
Alonzo just got into his room when his grandmother called him. He picked up the call, "Hello grandma. Why didn't you sleep yet?"
"How could I sleep when you hadn't even called me after arriving there?" Grandma Brown was very angry.
"Sorry. I was about to call you but you called me first."
"Humph! As you are safe, I'm cutting the call then. I have to sleep now. Bye.." Grandma Brown didn't even gave him a chance to reply as she cut the call.
Alonzo smiled, looking at the phone because he knew how much his grandmother loved him. She adores him a lot, specially because he looks more like his grandfather than his own father. Keeping the phone aside, he then slept off, as from the next day, it would be a war for him, to took revenge on one person by getting back her to himself and also to start a new journey as the new business man of city S.

Next morning, as usual, Reuben dropped Veronica at her office before going to Smith Enterprise. Every employee stood up from their seat to greet him 'Good Morning'.
He just nodded his head slightly as a response and went directly in his office. His assistant Tom, greeted him in his office and gave him the files that he needed to sign.
Even after a while, when Tom didn't leave the place, Reuben then lifted his head up from those files to look at him confusingly. He then kept his pen on the table and intertwined the fingers of his both hands and pressed his elbows on the table, resting his chin on his hand.
"Do you have something to say?" Reuben asked.
"Boss you remember Mr. Alonzo Brown, right?" Tom asked after taking a deep breath.
Reuben frowned listening the name as he couldn't identify the person. But his brain suddenly worked as he said, "Yeah. The CEO of Brown Corporation. His father is some old distant friend of my father, I guess. But why are you asking me about him now?"
"Yes sir, that's him. Actually Mr. Brown is shifting the headquarters of Brown Corporation from city B to city S. And he also sent us a business proposal for our upcoming project in City S." Tom politely replied.
"Hmmm.. That's really a big news to hear. But why he is shifting the headquarters here now.. I mean why so suddenly? How much I know that his company is the best one in City B. Then why?" Reuben enquired while brushing his index finger on his chin.
"Yes sir, I'm also thinking the same."
Reuben just shrugged his shoulder and said, "Let it go. That's not our problem to think. And analyze his project and compare it with the other bidders. If his project idea is the best then we will chose him, otherwise ignore it."
"Yes boss." Tom left the office with the files that had been already signed.
Reuben leaned back on his chair and thought for some time about this new businessman of city S. But then shook his head and focused on his work.

Even in winter, Windermere was beautiful. A few ships were tied to a dock and a silver lake was spread out beyond it. The nearby town was small and had clean, pretty roads.

However, the people there had deathly pale faces and were mostly ability users. In the lake, a large tuna-like thing jumped up every once in awhile, then disappeared back below the surface. Those guys, weren't they in the wrong place? This wasn't the ocean, it was a lake!

"You're late!"

I turned my head at the slightly piercing voice that called out to me. Hwaya, who was running towards me with a smile after I got out of the limousine, suddenly frowned. She must have realized my appearance was different than the last time we met.

I wasn't just covering my face in a way that would hide that I was 'Yeon Hwawoo.' My entire facial structure, hair color, and eye color were different. It meant that I had a way of changing my appearance and that the appearance of Yeon Hwawoo I showed Hwaya before would have a chance to be false. In that case, it was normal that she would doubt whether my name even was Yeon Hwawoo.

"You…"

"Sorry, Hwaya."

"Y-You…."

Hwaya seemed to have realized the truth from my apology as she clenched her fists. Then, she unclenched them softly.

"Haa, I understand."

"Thanks. I'll tell you more about it later. You know why I did it, right?"

"If you lie again, I'm going to pull out your hair, and you'd better tell me properly later. Show me your real appearance too."

"Don't worry."

"Good… Well, thanks for coming… and for believing in me."

After a light hug, we shook hands. Behind her, I saw three other ability users. As Hwaya greeted me, they watched us with curious gazes. Hwaya then turned and introduced me to them.

"He's Thunder Knight."

"Hey!"

"Oh!"

"Thunder Knight!"

"That's him? How young!"

They each spouted awestruck words and stared at me fixedly. Hwaya then bragged without any hint of unhappiness.

"Didn't I tell you? That I was an acquaintance of Thunder Knight!"

"Amazing, Mastiford. I didn't think you could really call him here."

"Not to mention, I didn't think I'd see the face of someone who never revealed his identity. Though, he's still wearing a mask."

Without showing any signs of doubting Hwaya's words, the three ability users showed interest in me, seemingly with good first impressions. At their following questions, I tried to use my beginner level English to barely respond to them. I was thankful I could understand them properly. British accents were difficult…

Damn, Korea really needed to teach English on a conversation level basis! The English I learned in my first semester of college was more helpful than the English I studied for the SATs!

"Oh, poor Brightman."

"Thunder Knight is quite handsome, and he's young!"

"Hahahaha!"

I didn't know why they were laughing. Even though I changed my hair to platinum blonde and had red eyes, since I didn't change my skin color, they should have realized I wasn't Caucasian. Even so, they treated me favorably. I was glad.

Hwaya shook her hands as if to shoo away their useless talk, then introduced them to me. They were S-rank ability users. Mike Dellon, a man in his 30's, was a magician who could command over ten different kinds of water magic, and Paul Bacchus, a man in his 40's, was a dual shield wielder. There was apparently nothing he could not block.

However, I was surprised when I heard he could only strengthen shields with his mana. Since I couldn't imbue mana into my crossbow either, I imagined it was similar to that. That said, as long as he could wield mana, he should be able to wield other weapons if he practiced… Well, it wasn't something I should be concerned about.

The last member was Emily Brown, a woman in her early 50's with well-aged blonde hair. She was the owner of the precious healing ability.

"Amazing, right? There are only ten S-rank healers in the world and Madam Brown is one of them!"

"It's nice to meet you, Thunder Knight."

"… Nice to meet you too, Madam Brown."

I wanted to stop them from calling me, Thunder Knight. What could I do? After thinking about it for a bit, I came up with a plan.

"You can call me John Smith…"

"How about we call you T.K., short for Thunder Knight?"

"Please don't, Hwaya."

[Then hurry up and say your real name.]

[Like I can say it here.]

"Alright then, T.K."

This girl, she really was angry…! In the end, because of Hwaya, my nickname became T.K. In any case, I couldn't help but look at them curiously after being introduced to the three ability users.

"I didn't think everyone would come to receive me, but I'm surprised how distinguished everyone here is. Wasn't there another S-ranker? Why isn't that person here?"

"That person's with the other SS-ranker who's not here."

"Wow… But it's not even dinner time yet…"

At my words, Hwaya's face reddened slightly and she lightly kicked my shin. Then, as a result of kicking my leg that was stronger than steel, she held her foot and jumped in place.

"No, stupid! That S-ranker is a man! He's just following Joshua Brightman around!"

There couldn't be that many ability users here, but it seemed factions had already developed. I was happy that Hwaya's side had more S-rankers, but the member composition was rather strange. There were two long-ranged magicians, one person to block monsters' attacks up close, and one healer to heal them. It wasn't bad, but there was one thing missing.

"There's no one to kill monsters in melee range. Is that why you called me, Hwaya?"

In gaming terms, they were missing a close-range damage dealer. At my question, the three S-rankers wore bitter expressions, while Hwaya let out a sigh. It seemed there was a reason behind it.

"Other than you, other countries sent their S-rankers to help."

"Yeah, I know."

"Because I was annoyed with Brightman, I suggested that with the added people, we split our forces into two and explore the dungeon in separate ships. After all, that should be faster."

"Yeah, that makes sense. It's a good idea."

"When we were discussing it, Brightman agreed to it wholeheartedly, but when the other countries' S-rankers came, they all said they would only join Brightman's group. They said he was more trustworthy than me."

"I wonder how much that trust cost…?"

Shoot, so Hwaya's side actually had fewer people.

As expected of a chaebol. His scale really was different. To think he could make S-rankers, who generally did not lack anything, come to his side. It probably wasn't just money that did it. Adults were scary!

While I was wearing an amazing look, Hwaya's complaints continued.

"As a result, for the past few days, we couldn't even delve that deeply into the dungeon. With only Paul in the front, we shot out our magic attacks… and today, Brightman said, 'Wouldn't it be bad to continue like this, Miss Mastiford? How about we change our strategy?' Argh! So annoying! I want to burn him up!"

As Hwaya complained, little balls of flame sparked around her. Paul, Mike, and Madam Brown, who could be considered her party members, nodded their heads as if they were also thinking about what happened. I asked.

"But not all of the S-rankers went to his side, right? After all, they're S-rankers. They shouldn't be lacking anything."

"Ah, of course, there were people who wanted to join my party too, but they were all schemers who were trying to do something with my fame and the way they were looking at me… Uuu. I refused them all, saying I didn't need them."

"You really are a cool woman."

"Paul and Mike here don't have any ulterior motives. Unlike Brightman whose head is only filled with money and women, they know what's important, and that's thinking of our country first! Ah, it's the same for Madam Brown, of course! With her on our side, Brightman's side only has an A+-rank healer."

With Hwaya laughing as if to say 'it serves you right,' I also responded with a laugh.

"I thought something was weird when you sent a plane so hastily. Then are we going there right now? I haven't fought any fish monsters before, so I'm pretty excited."

In truth, my body was itching for a fight. After sleeping on the plane, I wanted to get some exercise. I mean, just look at that tuna-shaped monster! It was undoubtedly delicious. I was sure of it, 100 percent! Come to think of it, I hadn't eaten that boar in the dungeon's Residential Area either. I needed to drain the blood and dismantle it soon…

However, after hearing what I said, Hwaya tilted her head rather cutely with a 'huh?' Then, she spoke as she blinked at me slowly.

"What are you talking about? The boat's not going anywhere today. We were already on it for nine hours today, and it's almost time for evening tea. Work hour is clearly over."

"You're kidding…"

"Yeah, I was kidding."

"Hey!"

"But it's true that we aren't hunting any more monsters today. You only just came. There's a jet lag to worry about, so you should rest."

I was dumbfounded at Hwaya's words that seemed to say, 'don't overwork yourself and rest.' I was thankful she was worried about me but did she really think that way?

"Are you treating me like a normal person after acknowledging me as an S-ranker…?"

"He's right, Mastiford. The bodies of us melee type ability users aren't weak like yours, who, as an SS-ranker, faints often from anemia."

Paul, who was a melee ability user like me, assisted me. Hwaya then retorted.

"I don't faint from anemia! I just get dizzy from using up my mana!"

"You should watch how much mana you have left."

"You think that's easy?"

Was it because Hwaya's mana was too strong? It seemed she had a tendency to use it unsparingly. Because of it, she was getting anemia from mana exhaustion. As I felt the same way the last time I partied with her for the Event Dungeon, I decided to warn her about it this time.

"If you faint, your party members will be in danger. No matter how much mana you have, you need to practice controlling how much you spend."

[But I can't see my MP on Earth.]

[Don't rely on the gauge, rely on the feeling.]

[You think that's easy!? Can you do it?]

As we started talking in private messages in the middle, we must have looked like we were having a glaring contest to the others. Paul and Mike thought we were fighting and stepped in.

"I think you guys need to calm down."

"It's thanks to Mastiford's magic that we're able to do so much with just the four of us. T.K., as her acquaintance, you should know how amazing she is."

At my words, Hwaya shrunk back. With how prideful she was, she should dislike others pointing out her flaws. The air heated up quickly. I was prepared for a ball of flame to fly my way. When I prepared myself for it, Hwaya unclenched her fists. Then, with her eyes burning like flames, she glared at me and spoke.

"If you can do it, there's no way I can't."

"Ha, that's more like it."

This is what I liked about her. Someone who was proud but could understand her flaws could always increase her self-worth.

"So teach me. Don't tell me you can't?"

"No, I can do at least that much."

"Good, then after dinner, come to my place. I can at least offer you milk tea."

"Got it… Hm?"

Eh? Did I hear what I think I just heard? While I was standing there just blinking blankly, Paul, who had walked past me before I noticed, spoke while grinning.

"Wow, I knew something was up when she kept bragging that Thunder Knight was her acquaintance, but I didn't think THE Mastiford would invite a man to her room… If Brightman found out, he would lose it."

Mike, who was younger compared to Paul, placed his hand on my shoulder and advised.

"Be careful of Brightman, my friend. I don't know what that man would do out of jealousy."

"Um… Thanks for the advice…"

I retorted while taking Mike's hand off of me.

Also, Madam Brown! Don't give me a thumbs up with that radiant smile. It's annoying!

After 5 seconds pass, Inger just says "The plane takes off in 7 hours and we live 30 minutes away from the airport, we'll be fine you moron" 

**At the airport, 1 hour later**

"Come on June, this is the one place where drinking is socially acceptable at 9 AM!" Inger nags.
Suddenly, 20 men and women in black suits form a line at one of the airplane exits. The couple wonders about what is happening, before they see a very famous man from Canada. 

Grade S Knight from the North American Castle, Reidar Thorson walks out and is accompanied by the black suited people, presumably from the Nordic Castle. The newlywed couples minds have been blown. They did not expect to see that.

The black suit who looks to be in charge, opens a limousine door for Reidar, and says; "Mr. Thorson, on behalf of the Norwegian Government and the Nordic Castle, we welcome you. We will try our very best to make your stay as comfortable as you'd like. My name is Paul Augson, here is my number. I am responsible for your well being while in the Nordic Castles territory, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland."

Reidar looks at his escort, and says "Thank you for your kind hospitality, but i am here for my family. Based on my name i am sure you could've guessed where my family roots from." 
He sits inside the limousine and gives the driver the address to his grandparents house. After dropping him off at the correct address, he gives the driver a 10,000 NOK tip.

The driver drives happily away. Once out of sight, Reidar turns invisible, and goes to the number one on their list. Reidar Thorson's class was: [Infiltrator]

 - Karsten Ødegård

A man who was at the bottom of all his classes, an F rank, had suddenly shot up to B rank and joined the Nordic Castles ranks as a Knight. He takes care of his mother as his only living relative, but has struggled with money in the past. He may have been corrupt in order to help his mother.

After a day of week of recon, there was nothing suspicious about Karsten. He was a good man and a loving son. Reidar almost felt bad for spying on him for a week.

The next person on their list:

 - Stian Kirkegaard

Recently promoted to the position of Captain within the Castle, this man possessed monstrous strength and defense. His ability to Command spears placed him at the top of all A ranks, and is expected to be the nations next S rank breakthrough. This however made him the most suspicious of the list. The wounds on Albert's body fits those of Kirkegaard's Spears, and if there was anyone with enough skill to kill him, it would be Kirkegaard.

Kirkegaard was in charge of tanking and training soldiers. He was a good instructor but cruel. One night while under surveillance, Kirkegaard went down to the docs. He seemed to meet up with someone in a secret location. After talking to the mysterious person, Kirkegaard gave them a stack of money and in return received a note.

Reidar decided to follow the mysterious stranger, rather than Kirkegaard to figure out what was happening. After following him for a while, the stranger walked into a warehouse. "Alright, we've got the money now, and i have given the Captain our contacts so that business can continue as it did under the previous one." said the stranger

It didn't take long before Reidar discovered what was being shipped here. Black Market Magic Crystals. This warehouse was worth millions. He ran outside, and hurried to the Castle to reveal this information when he came across an alleyway. On the ground there was a man laying there, soaked in blood. "Wait, isn't this Kirkegaard's clothes?" he says before he turns his body over. Stian Kirkegaard had been killed with the exact same puncture marks and weaponry, and the note he was carrying was gone. 

After this week, Reidar had shut down the largest smuggling ring in the city, but he still had not found out who the killer of Albert was. The last name on his list, and the least promising one.
"Fine, i have to cover all my basis" he thought to himself.

The last suspect

 - Silvia Helheim

Silvia seemed to be a normal woman. Her family history was nothing special apart from the fact that all the recorded people in the family were women, who all shared the same name. She had zero magical power, which was a rare phenomena these days. Reidar started thinking. "A few weeks ago, apparently she was attacked by a troll while walking through the forest.... wait what? The troll was subdued by a teenager? 18 years old and already killing trolls, how amusing. But hang on... there's something missing from this report...."

Reidar picked up his phone and called Paul, his escort. "Yes, this is Paul Augson speaking"
"Hi, this is Reidar Thorson speaking. I need you to declassify a file for me"

"....."

Declassifying a file? How the hell does he expect me to do that?
"Of course i can, give me an hour, whats the case number?", Paul asked
"204868499"

"I am on it", Paul finished the conversation with confidence.

An hour later Paul calls back and says this: "The file is declassified for you, you may open it now"
"hmm... the troll was infected with the black plague? This was a horrifyingly dangerous encounter then, how the hell did this woman survive? Sheer luck?"

Nevertheless, the spying started. Reidar would watch Silvia train the young boy who saved her life every afternoon, helping him grow his strength. Seems like a reasonable thing to do, and she seems kind. Her neighbors love her, she walks through the woods, some of her students love her a bit too much and leans a lot on the creepy side.

"Hmm.. maybe there truly is nothing special here. In any case, i should go through her home just to be sure"

Reidar enters the house and looks around carefully, making sure not to touch anything he shouldn't and putting everything perfectly back. He could hear Silvia's car in the driveway. Just to make sure he would not be noticed when exiting, he activated all his Class [Infiltrator] skills. [Concealment], [Stealth], [Invisibility], [Scent Removal] and [Silence].

Her keys enter the lock, and Reidar prepares to get out of there.
The door opens, and Reidar's eyes lock with Silvia.

"Who are you?" asked Silvia, staring deeply into the eyes of the intruder.
Reidar turned speechless.

Several hundred years ago, the black death ravaged the Magically Rich Europe. Hundreds of millions of people died until the Grand Wizard sacrificed himself and stopped the plague. Fast forwards to 2020, a woman kills a massive troll in front of a Knight of the Nordic Castle and leaves. Alain didn't know what to do. He didn't want to make any choice that would hurt anybody. 

"C'est quoi ton decision?" Louise asked. She didn't want to force Alain, but there was here long enough to know how he was going to handle the situation at home. (What is your decision)?

"Je ne sais pas quoi faire," he sighed. (I don't know what to do). 

"Alain!"

"Sienna planned to get married in two months," he shared. "I don't know if she'd still be willing to marry me. What about the other woman? I don't know—"

"How would you know?  You ran away after knowing that the other woman was pregnant." 

"You both were drunk. So, you go home. Explain it to your fiance and the other woman," Cyrus proposed.  "Hiding here and avoiding it is only going to make matters worse," he continued. 

"Bro, Je sais que ce n'est pas facile, mais Vous devez parler à tous les Deux. Sienna mérite une explication, et l'autre femme pourrait avoir quelque chose à dire," Louise said, in a soft voice. (Bro, I know it isn't easy, but you have to talk to both of them. Sienna deserves an explanation, and the other woman might have something to say). "Don't let things get out of hands," she tried to be persuasive. 

"I'll tell Sienna—"

"J'irai. J'irai," Alain quickly said. (I'll go. I'll go). 

"And?" Louise asked, staring him down. Alain immediately understood. 

"I'll book my flight and leave early tomorrow." 

"Good!" She gave him a knowing smile.

"What happened?" Cyrus was curious. 

"Nothing," Louise shrugged. 

"You did something," he whispered.

"I am leaving with Alain," Jacques informed Louise. "I need to get back to work."

"Mmh! What about Bertrand?"

"He's leaving too. He has to fly to Germany next week."

"Oh! I thought you'd stay for a few more days. I'll visit when I have time."

"Okay! It was nice meeting you, guys," Cyrus said. Jacques and Bertrand nodded at him.

"You have such amazing friends?" Cyrus said to Louise. 

"I have such an amazing 'man," Louise moved her palm and rested it against Cyrus's cheek. "Sometimes, I ask myself, 'Does he even know how much I love? Does he believe me?' Do you believe me, do you trust me?" She asked, starring into his eyes as if she was seeking the truth in them. 

She waited for him to respond. 

"I do!" He kissed her hand. "I do!" 

"Sometimes, I ask myself, 'What does this woman see in me? How can she bore her way into my life like this, bothering me so much that I can't spend a day without thinking about her? Does she even know what she's doing to me?" 

Louise gave a soft laugh and her usual grin. "What am I doing to you?" She poked the tip of his nose. 

"I didn't know someone could make falling in love feels so damn 'amazing. You' re—no, I am insanely and madly in love with you day by day, and I can't help falling in love each day that I see you."  


"If one day—"

Louise hushed him, she reached out to him, taking Cyrus into her arms.  "I love you," she whispered. 

"I know. I know," Cyrus answered.

"I know you love Jamaican coffee, so I bought some for you," Kate said, attempting to bribe Louise into keeping Willa for few more days. 

"What else did you bring?" Louise asked, authoritatively crossing her legs. Kate laughed awkwardly. She waved her hand, "What do you want?"

"Can you keep your god-daughter for a few more days?" Kate smiled politely. 

"Yes." 

"Really!" She shouted in joy. "Oh! You are an angel. Baby, I love you." 

"I hope I have twins," Louise randomly said. 

"Huh!"

"No reason," She smirked.

"Darling!" Louise cried. 

"What is it, Loulou?"

"Don't I dote on my best friend too much?" 

"No! She's your cousin-in-law to be," Cyrus said without a thought, not knowing that behind those words held so much importance and value. 

Louise went silent. "Loulou, cherie!" He switched the phone to his left ear. "Darling!"

"Huh, yeah!" She shook it off. 

"I'll pick you up," Cyrus informed. "I know your house is heavily secured and all, but I'd feel unrest leaving you and Willa there alone." 

"Okay—your mom," Louise yelled. "Not yet."

"She's visiting her family," he chuckled. "Wait for me, okay. I love you."

"I love you."

"Hi, Marie," Louise greeted.  

"Miss, it's been a while," Marie smiled. 

"You live here?"

"I do. Let me take Willa," she offered. "It's nice seeing you again."

"You too." 

"Do you—"

"Hey, you're here," Tara' jogged down the stairs, seeing Louise, her tiny frame, hugging her. "I haven't seen you." 

"Tar!" Tyler tried to hold his sister back, but he was seconds too late. 

"Let her!" Tim mouthed. 

"Me too. Well, I've subscribed to your channel," Louise smiled brightly. 

"I know," Tara laughed. "Your name's so peculiar."

"It's a fact, right?" Louise whispered. "Hey, guys!" She turned to the twins. 

"Hi!" They said together. Tim and Tyler liked Louise, but they didn't want to get close to her in case she decided to leave their brother.

"I like your kids," Louise jumped forward to kiss Cyrus cheek. 

"Do you want me to become addicted?" Cyrus asked in a serious yet calmed voice. 

"To what?" Louise asked unsurely, "What are you talking about?"

She smiled. 

"That was the plan," she grinned. 

"I can't win against you," he flicked her forehead lightly. "I am going to shower."

"Darling, I am going to—" Louise stopped midway, seeing Cyrus bare body in front of her. Water dripped down from his hair to his chest, down to his stomach. 'Oh Seigneur, don't let me be a sinner today,' Louise gulped. 

'Those abs! How can he be so fit?' She unconsciously marched forward, running a hand down—

"Halt!" Cyrus stepped backward. "What are you doing?"

"Sorry, they look so good. You look yummy. How can I resist this?" Louise groaned. 

"Don't make me forget how—"

"Forget what?" Louise ran a hand down his abs, slowly loosened the towel around his waist. 

"Stop, please!" Cyrus pushed Louise against the wall. "Stop!" 

"I want sex!" Louise blurted. 

"What?" Cyrus sighed deeply. How could he forget who he was dating? "Loulou!"

"I want to have sex. We both want it. Did I say something wrong?" She asked innocently. 

"How can you—"

"Stop talking!" Louise aggressively captured his lips, sliding a hand down to stroke his Heimlich. She gave it a little rub then gently squeeze it. 

"I am losing my patience!"

Cyrus pulled away from the kiss, staring at her. 

They stared at each other.

He stared so intensely that she began to feel her face burning.

Was the AC not on? Louise thought  

Cyrus slowly moved his arm around her and, pulling them to the bed, before she could act, she was sitting on his lap.

His arms were securely around her waist, holding Louise in place. "Extinguish the fire you started!" Cyrus told her. 

He brushed his thumb over her lips, and she felt m her body shiver.

What was that feeling?

He bent back Louise's head and kissed her.

Softly and gently. Then, Cyrus slowly slipped his tongue inside her mouth. The kiss was tender, yet, demanding.

Louise couldn't think. She wanted all of him. His body to be closer to cool down the burning desires. 

Her hands were on his hair, pulling him to be nearer.

They were kissing—like crazy. Cyrus's hands were everywhere, but Louise didn't mind.

It didn't matter.

Louise inhaled his shaving cream, loving the way he smelled. She pushed Cyrus down, pinning his hands above his head. 

Cyrus gave her a questioning look. "Let me!"  He watched her go down, taking his penis and put it in her mouth. 

"Loulou!" He tried to stop her, but she pushed him down. Her tongue felt hot and soft around him. Cyrus could tell by her movements that it was her first time. 

His mind was in a frenzy, thinking how her gentle tongue could take him to heaven. Louise did her actions gentle, but accurately, making the man inside her moaned and groaned in pleasure. He was gentle. Careful. Cyrus nibbled on her neck, startling her.

Louise shut her eyes as the pain hit. 'Fuck, I can take this.'

"I am sorry," Cyrus whispered, slowly moving.

The sharp pain she felt began to fade into something else—pleasure. "Cyrus!" Louise cried.  "Cyrus!"

"Does it hurt?" He asked, loving the way Louise's voice sounded like a melody to his ear. 

"More," she demanded. "Faster."  Louise couldn't describe that strange sensation she felt. 

Cyrus moved carefully, afraid that he'd hurt her. "Don't hold back! Give me all of you!" 

His hands kneaded her breath as he moved back and forth back and forth. Louise grabbed at him desperately, arms around his head. "Ah!" She arched her back, ready to dive in pleasure. Her body began to quiver and shudder in response to her climax.

Cyrus grabbed hold of Louise's back, pressing her body close to his chest. He didn't make any sound, but she felt his muscles collapsed as he pressed down on her, then he came. Louise looked at him and smiled. 

He rolled down on his back, and hugged Louise, "I love you," he kissed her cheek.

"I'll go get Willa," Cyrus said, got out of bed, but not before planting a kiss on Louise's lips. 

"What time is it?" Louise stretched. 

"Ten thirty."

"No one heard you," Cyrus smiled in understanding. "You should sing more often," he bit her ear.

"Why is she sleeping?"

"You smell like me," Cyrus commented. "She just ate." 

"I took a shower." 

"You and Willa sleep on the bed. I'll sleep on the couch." 

"It's big enough for us three." 

"Don't crush little Willa."

"I'll crush you!"

Willa and Louise's laughter woke Cyrus up. Louise was sitting by the window with the little one on her lap. Willa would laugh every time she stroke her cheek. Her short chubby arms reached up to touch Louise's face as she smiled down at Willa. 

"You should call me mom. I take better care of you," Louise said, while Willa gleefully clapped her hands. 

"I agree," Cyrus said, after watching them. 

"You're awake," Louise smiled in ecstasy, seeing his face. 

"Mmh!" He kissed her cheek. "How did you sleep?"

Louise moved to the bed. "Ah!" She screamed as she tried to sit against the headboard.

"What's wrong?" Cyrus rushed by her side. 

"Nothing. Kate came back early. She told me to leave Willa here." 

"I'll take care of her."

"I fed and bathed her already—"

"Brother!" The door swung open. "You bought me the makeup kit?" Tara inquired in delight. 

"Tar!"

"Oh! I'll come back." She mouthed forgive me, immediately closing the door. 

"I'll go shower. Look after Willa."

"Cyrus," Mrs.Smith knocked on the door.

"Mom?"

"Well, you don't look happy—"

"That's not it. You're back early. Is something wrong?" 

"There's someone here to see you."

"Who is it?"

"Your girlfriend," Mrs.Smith, giving her son a questioning look. 

"Mom, you know who my girlfriend is," he cried in defense. 

"I didn't meet her yet. You could have already—"

"What's her name?"

"She didn't say. Come down and talk to her."

"Thanks, mom, I am coming," he said, closing the door.

"What's wrong?" Louise asked, coming out with a towel wrapped around her.

"Nothing! There's someone downstairs, claiming to be my girlfriend." 

"Okay!" Louise said, putting her clothes on. 

"You're not asking—"

"I should have that much trust in you, right? Darling, it's not like I caught you cheating." 

"How do you get home?" Cyrus asked, realizing that his mother came back unexpectedly. 

"Aunt Diane is waiting for me outside." 

"My mom's here. How do you go out?" 

"The window."

"Seriously! Do you think you're Bruce Lee?" Cyrus asked restlessly. "Don't do it, please!" 

"Shh! I do not want your mother seeing me like this today," Louise said, jumping out of the window. Darling!"

"Tell me, you landed safely," he said, a hand covering his eyes. 

"Yeah!" She laughed.

"Ah, don't do that again," he breathed out in relief. "How do you get past the gate now?"

"There's another way out. Don't worry. I won't climb the wall," she whispered. "I love you," Louise yelled loud enough for the other neighbors to hear.

"I love you," Cyrus yelled back. 'You got me doing all sorts of things,' Cyrus chuckled once Louise was out of sight.

Mina!

What was she doing—

"We've been dating for a while. We had a huge argument. We decided to take a break from each other. I told Cyrus I'd come to find him when I was ready."

The nerve of this woman.

Mrs. Smith thought, then why didn't she come to find him when his father passed away.

"Little Willa is here," Mrs. Smith's face lighted up, seeing her niece. "Where's her mother?"

"She's picking her up later," Cyrus said. 

"I'll take her for you," Marie said, taking Willa from him. 

"Thanks, Marie!" 

"Hey, Mina. What are you doing here?" Cyrus asked coldly. 

"Baby, I missed you," Mina said, walking forward to hug him. He moved aside, avoiding her.

"Mom, can you give us a second?"

"Hey, didn't your mother die? Isn't she the kids' nanny?"

Cyrus wanted to pull out his belt to whip that inconsiderate woman.

Even if Mrs.Smith was the nanny, he didn't like her tone.

"I'm going out to Gloria's. Call me if you need something," Mrs.Smith smiled at her son, while she glared at Mina.

"How did you know where I live?"

"Blake told me."

"Why are you here?"

"I missed you. I was wrong for breaking up with you. Let's get back together. You were going to propose to me. Let's get married. I'll never say anything—"

"Stop!" Cyrus frowned. 

"Cyr?"

"Stop!" 

"Baby?" Mina had never seen him this mad. He was furious.

"What do I look like to you?" He laughed bitterly. "Even when we were dating back then, you always did that. You left as you pleased and came back when you wanted."

"I realized that I love you," Mina said, batting her lashes. 

"You love me, or the new identity? Yes, I loved you, Mina. I loved you. But you left me."

"I am sorry."

"No, I am sorry," Cyrus smiled heartily, Do you know that someone has made me fall in love with her so much? If I don't see her for a day, I miss her like crazy."

"I can make you love me again. We dated for six years. I don't believe that I can't make you love me again," Mina said, gently pulling at his shirt. 

"You can't. There's only that woman in here. But do you love me?"

What?"

"Do you love me?"

"Cyrus—"

"You don't love me. You're only here because you've heard that my biological father left me an inheritance."

"No, I love you. Give me a chance to prove it to you."

"I don't want to see you. Don't show up in front of me again."

"Cyrus," Mina cried. 

"Get. Out."

"Cyr—"

"Mina!" He breathed, "I loved you. I did. Now, I am in love with a woman—I am happy—I don't have to pretend with her. I respect you. I never blame you for what you did. You deserve your happiness. But, don't make me forget the good memories. Even if we're not together anymore, there was a time that we were happy." 

"Don't do this. Please!" 

"Walk the guest out, anyone," Cyrus said, going back upstairs, leaving Mina out there.

Why is it him?

I don’t even know why it’s him. You’re not him, you don’t have the right to ask. 

Mina broke up with Cyrus because he was too poor. Then came a beautiful, dazzling, rich woman to pick up the pieces. 

“I love you! Why is it so hard for you to believe that my love for you is sincere. Let me love you. I will make up for all the times you were not loved.”

Does love have to be tragic and forbidden to be beautiful? 

It can be as simple as it is but still is beautiful.

Rowan suddenly blinks to find James standing directly in front of her. Rowan comes to an abrupt halt and opens her mouth to speak, but before she can James pops a sweet toffee into her mouth. "There better?" James said with a kind smile.

Rowan blinks and chews on the sweet toffee. "Thanks," Rowan said with some surprise.

James nods his head at her, before rushing to catch up to the rest of the gang leaving Rowan to purse her lips after his trailing figure. "No wonder, James got Lily in end, he's naturally suave," Rowan thought to herself.

"Oh, ho, ho. How very interesting," Silvia whispered into Rowan's ear.

Rowan almost flinches as she raises an eyebrow at Silvia's comment, while Tiffany sighs and says, "Why hasn't some cute boy done that to me yet?"

"He's just being nice," Rowan grumbled.

"Nice, eh?" Silvia roguishly wiggled her eyebrows.

"It's common knowledge that girl's mature first," Bethanie chided Silvia. "I'm sure that he doesn't have a girl in his heart yet."

"Right…..." Silvia said with a look of disbelief.

"Want to sit with us today?" Tiffany asked.

"Sure," Rowan muttered as she followed the three girls. It wasn't like this was a bad thing. Her three roommates were pretty nice. But then again, isn't that what everyone thought about most of the Death Eaters?"

An idea suddenly comes to mind just as Rowan is about to sit down. "Can I invite another friend?" Rowan asked.

The three girls shrug and reply, "Sure, it's fine."

"Thanks," Rowan sincerely said, before heading off to the Gryffindor house table, where Lily and the rest are sitting at, while Severus remains standing as they chat. 

Seeing his twin sister heading over to them, Severus raises his eyebrow in question an irritation as if saying, "I'm just saying goodbye. Why are you coming over to get me! I'm not a child! Don't embarrass me!"

Rowan ignores Severus as she comes to a stop next to Lily and ruefully says, "Lily, come sit and have lunch with us. We're having a girl's only luncheon."

Lily grins at Rowan's words. "Sounds fun."

Severus chokes as Rowan says, "Severus, girls ONLY. Stick with Sirius for lunch." Lily rises to her feet as Severus continues to gape in utter horror as Rowan adds, "Well, I leave you in good hand, Severus." 

Turning to Sirius, Rowan cheekily says, "Don't eat him, I need him back later."

"Can't make any promises," Sirius mischievously answered as Rowan smirked back in reply. Severus huffs in displeasure at Rowan who just snickers back at him, before victoriously leading Lily away.

Watching the girls go Pettigrew's eyes widen as he says in disbelief, "Is that even allowed?"

Severus and the rest of the boy's stare at each other as do the rest of the Gryffindor table. They all violently startle but most especially Pettigrew as he falls out of his seat as they hear Perfect Wilkes in a loud voice say, "Of course, it is allowed as it promotes inter-house unity. However, that is only allowed during lunch as breakfast and dinner are to be spent with their own house."

 "Even I didn't know that!" Whispered aghast, a surprised Ravenclaw in his 5th year. Similar murmurs fill the Great Hall until a strange hush appears over the Great Hall as they watch Rowan Prince, a Slytherin escorting Lily Evans, a Gryffindor to the Slytherin house table. 

Ignoring the commotion, they were causing Lily asks, "Can I invite someone else over too?"

"Why ever not? I say, the more the merrier," Rowan hummed.

Lily excitedly pauses and waves two girls not far off and motions them to come over. One of the girls is the shy witch from the boat from before, while the other girl has naturally curly chestnut-colored hair and cappuccino colored skin. When they all converge, the Great Hall becomes utter silent as Rowan seats herself and the three Gryffindor girls at the Slytherin house table. The students hold their breath, but the rest of the Slytherins merely glance in curiosity or sniffle coldly but don't speak an utter word against them. 

Suddenly, the Great Hall is full of whispers as a tidal wave of movement begins to happen, students suddenly begin to move to other house tables to sit with friends. Before Severus is even able to react, he is ceremoniously plunked down by Sirius to have a seat. Assured that Lily is safe and sound, Severus turns his attention to Sirius as they chat about Quidditch. And thusly so, in this quiet manner, the beginning of change would be seen between inter-house relationships. Nothing grandiose, but enough of a change to give inter-house friendships a chance to survive and possibly grow.

Once seated, Rowan points at each of her roommates and introduces them. "First allow me to introduce, myself, I am Rowan Prince. And should you meet my twin brother, Severus, feel free to defend yourselves, I shall not mind," Rowan theatrically said causing her humor to break the awkward air, before introducing the girls around her.

"The sweet one with a sprinkle of freckles is Bethanie Fawley," the auburn-haired Brittany gently smiled. 

"Our confident lady with blue-gray eyes and dark hair is Silvia Flint," Silvia coolly smiles at them. 

"And the ditzy, sweetie with strawberry blond bobbed hair is Tiffany Topsy," Tiffany Topsy impishly blows them a kiss.

The two other girls next to Lily relax at the antics of Rowan's roommates. "And lastly, but not least the lovely maiden at my side with gorgeous red hair and emerald eyes, Lily Evans, a childhood friend," Rowan plainly stated.

Bethanie, Silvia, and Tiffany chime a quiet, "Hello."

"It's a pleasure to meet all of you," Lily sincerely said. "Well my turn," Lily happily said with a twinkle in her eyes. Lily points to the shy witch with dark-colored hair and golden-brown eyes. "This is Mary MacDonald."

The shy witch with chestnut-colored hair, bashfully says, "Hello and nice to meet you."

They all greet her back before Lily points at the chestnut curly-haired girl with tan skin and hazel eyes. "And this here is Willa Sands," Lily added.

Willa smiles a glistening perfect smile and boldly says, "I'm aiming to be a Quidditch Keeper."

Silvia excitedly smiles back and says, "Me too!" Willa and Silvia instantly bond and begin to prattle on about Quidditch. The other girls leave them to their conversation as frankly, no one could follow a word they were saying.

Bethanie kindly asks, "So, how are you, the both of you really?"

"Great," Lily said with a smile as Mary quietly says, "Okay."

Tiffany bobbed hair wiggles in displeasure as she frowns and says, "What's wrong?"

Mary blinks and hastily flushes. "No, I'm fine, really!"

"She's just shy," Rowan drily commented.

"Oh, is that all?" Tiffany murmured. "In that case, let's become friends, then you won't be so shy!" Before Mary knew it, she was officially roped into being friends with Tiffany. Tiffany excitedly begins to chat over everything that she deems noteworthy as Mary meekly nods her head in reply as she listens.

Bethanie sighs and turns towards Lily. "Sorry about that," Bethanie apologetically said.

Lily shrugs and says, "Tiffany's not being ill-intentioned. And it will do Mary a great deal of good to have more friends."

"Friends with a Gryffindor, never!" A nasty girl voice loudly interjected.

They all turn to stare at Quyen Crowley already known for being a bully. Quyen looks down her long nose at them as her eyebrows are a bit thick and her dark hair in thick curls like sausages only serves to make her skin look that much wane. It certainly didn't help that she had a sour face as well.

"I'd never be friends with a Gryffindor," Quyen loudly chimed again as a small posse of Slytherin girls behind her chime in agreement as well.

Rowan suddenly smiles causing Lily and Bethanie to shiver with cold chills running down the back of their necks. "I don't recall needing anyone's permission," Rowan matter-of-factly stated.

Quyen snorts and says, "You're from the Prince family, you should know better. As should the rest of the members of the 28 families. Not only do you dirty the 28 families by assorting with this riffraff, but especially with these muggle-born witches!"

Rowan's polite grin widens as she says, "Maybe so, but like I said before we don't need your permission for anything." Quyen self-importantly snorts with disdain and turns on her heels as her follower cast a glare at them, before marching away.

Bethanie sighs and says, "Sorry about that ladies. Please don't think that all Slytherin's are like that especially those belonging to the 28 families."

"I know," Lily said with a smile as Mary shyly shakes her head in agreement and Willa gives her thumbs up.

"She's such a c*nt," Silvia muttered.

The girls gasp as Bethanie reaches over and pinches Silvia's ear who lets out a pained yelp. "Language, SILVIA!" Bethanie fiercely roared.

"But it's true!" Tiffany and Willa hastily said in Silvia's defense.

"No matter if it's true, there are other ways to describe her," Bethanie chided.

"Like a rat-faced weasel with rabies," Tiffany innocently said.

Bethanie pauses and pensively replies, "That is acceptable."

Tiffany beams at Willa with gratitude as Willa gives Tiffany two thumbs up and whispers, "Nice."

Feeling brave Mary flushes as she chirps out, "Unibrow, big-nosed, sausage head!"

They all turn and stare at the flushed faced Mary, before bursting out into laughter. "That's a good one!" Tiffany happily said as she excitedly hugs Mary. The rest of lunch passes quickly as the seven girls chat over everything and end up on friendly terms, possibly even friends. Waving goodbye, the girls evenly split and return to their own common room areas. And truthfully speaking, it was a nice ending to an exhausting day.

"Breaking news : murder investigation launched after a man , in 50's , found dead at 'Great walk' hiking track " , said the Headline.

" A corpse found ditched in ' Great Walk ' hiking track. The victim is a man in 50's with several bruises on his body. Police declared it a murder and launched investigation. According to police , this case is quite similar to a serial murder case. Detective Paul Stirling , who's in charge of that case will be taking over the investigation. Let's see what he has to say about the serial killing case..." The TV displayed another face now. An elderly man , crowded by journalists like mourners crowd a coffin , was now stating , "The bruises on the body of victim are similar to those of the previous seven victims and show that the culprit/(s) is same. All of the victims were in their 50's and were not identified.The brutal way of killing makes the motive unclear. We are currently investigating this case and will be disclosing more later. "

Legs trembling , hands quivering , Laura stood there , unable to stir. She gathered all her energy but couldn't move a muscle. Betrayed by her own body , she stood still with eyes focused on the screen displaying a murder site. A moment or an hour later , she couldn't tell , but when she finally won against the numbness spreading inside her body like a cancer , she ran. 

She ran with all her might , trying to escape what no human ever can. Trying to escape the fate.

As she opened the door of her room her eyes fell on the cupboard. She opened it taking all her painted canvases out unless her hands stopped , finding what she wished to never find. 

She shook her head in denial.
"This can't be true" , she declared hoping that her words would change the reality. She laughed at the joke her life was playing on her. Laughed and swallowed , hardly holding the canvas in her trembling hands.

She ran towards Alessa's room and turned her laptop on. "Great walk murder case" , her fingers still trembling as if warning her to not type, but she didn't listen , only to regret later.

Various search results appeared before her , all with almost same head lines. She clicked the link on the top that led her to another page displaying the site of murder. 

'Oh God' Her voice was wavering while she matched it with the painting that looked strikingly similar. The canvas grinned at her as if mocking the fact that how brutally a single corpse turned her beautiful painting to a frightful murder site.

"The murder is quite similar to seven other murders (to learn about it click here)...."

Incautiously she opened the link that displayed details of serial killing case.

Her eyes widened as she scrolled.

All murder sites were exactly similar to the paintings over her canvases. The trees , the bushes , the staircases , the window , the pillars each little detail was perfectly identical to her paintings. Each canvas held an untold tail that she failed to comprehend. She shut the laptop in a perplexed manner and gently massaged her temples with her fingers when her eyes came to a halt on a glimpse of something that froze her blood.

All her paintings were sites of serial murders. Does that mean...? 

'No! No! No!' She chanted while grabbing a cutter hurriedly and dashed towards the canvas .Not caring about all the effort she put in it, she stabbed her own creation . The blade piercing through canvas as she moved it in zig zag manner and witnessed her painting turn into a ruin.

Just when she was about to throw canvas from her window her eyes caught a gaze of something that made her blind with fear.

She ran downstairs skipping three steps a time and almost falling twice until she finally opened the door to the backyard , and stopped ...

The hardest thing about sniping in most mechs is that you can't lay prone in most mechs, the sheer weight of the armor in a mech causes the internals to get crushed when the weight is not distributed down the skeleton of the mech.  This is more pronounced on these average military mechs that have standard heavy uncompressed armor.  The advantages of this armor type is that it's cheap, durable, and easy to form fit.  The obvious disadvantages are the bulk and weight of it.

The easiest part about sniping with a mech though is that you never have to worry about optically centering your scope as the scope is actually a direct camera feed making the sniper scope look more like a long camera lens than a scope.  Also the sheer mass of the sniper rounds means that wind is not as much of a problem at longer ranges.

The timer for match start finished and everyone was spawned inside their starting zones for both offense and defense.  49 of the 50 players on the offense had the same mech, the Phalanx Mk 01.  The only one that didn't was Giacobbe, he had a Phalanx Mk 01 Custom, and the only difference was that it had a custom black paint job with silver accents to match his pilot suit.  The only that was bad about using the silver accents was that they were slightly reflective making it a little eye-catching, but Gray assumed that was probably Giacobbe's intention.

Gray and his team set out for the location on the map where B8 and C9 intersected and didn't pay attention to what the others were doing until they reached their position.  Giacobbe started to give orders once everyone was spawned in saying "The 8 of you feinting from the east will be team 3, the 8 of you feinting from the south will be team 2, and the rest of us will be team 1 which I will be leading.  Every team ready up when you're in position to begin!"

Various acknowledgements and affirmations came all at once leaving it hard to distinguish any one player from the rest.

Gray opened up the communications tab on his HUD and saw that everyone was in the primary group channel.  "This won't do with 50 people all at once." Gray thought to himself as he asked Giacobbe for permissions to modify the chat channels.  Surprisingly Giacobbe granted it to him as Gray thought he might have to ask more aggressively due to Giacobbe's personality.

"Maybe there is hope for him yet." Gray thought as he added 5 sub channels to their voice chat.  Team 1, Team 2, Team 3, Team Leaders, and Scouts.  The players were able to figure out for the most part what Gray was doing by adding those channels so they each went to their designated team rooms and thus the massive amount of chatter was drastically reduced.  Gray hopped into Team 2's room for a minute and asked which one of them was the team leader.  After a few rounds of bickering, Team 2 designated a player to be the leader for offense finally and Gray gave that player access to the Team Leaders room as well as himself and Giacobbe.  Gray switched back to Team 3's room and left a listener open in the Team Leaders room.

Everyone finally reached the designated point for team 3 and then asked Gray what the plan was.

Gray started to say "We are going to assume the other team isn't a group of idiots like a certain person is.  I want us to climb that small mesa with the solar farm on top of it that provides power to the defenses of the base and_"

"Blow it up!  Yeah!" Yurika interrupted excitedly.

"…actually no, I want to use it for sniper cover.  The solar panels interfere with laser targeting and I imagine the heat will cause visual targeting to be off as well.  That aside, it's like we're holding a hostage so they probably won't shoot with missiles in case they destroy the panels." Gray said.

"Sounds good, but how much support can we provide with just 4 snipers?  And won't we waste a lot of time climbing the plateau?" questioned Paul

"It will take time so that's why we're going to have to stall for time before Giacobbe loses patience and launches his assault.  Alice, I hope you can keep this from Giacobbe." Gray said to Alice.

"…Fine, consider it repayment for the merits earlier." Alice said.

"Good, now let's get moving!  Head north to the edge of the river, if we're seen it's not a big deal, just stay out of firing range as much as possible and we can get cover from the enemy snipers once we cross the river and get into the hilly forest on the other side."

"Gray, we can't cross the river without a bridge…" said Alice.

"Don't need one, we can't swim, but we're in mechs about 15 meters tall.  The water is only a few meters deep here at this spot so as long as we don't get so deep that we can't move we should be ok."

Gray took a step first with his mech into the water and felt his feet sink quite a bit, then he took another step allowing his other foot to sink in as well.  The water was only 1 meter deep at this point, but sinking a bit into the river bed was the worst part as trying to lift your mech's foot again would be very difficult due to the mud.  Gray changed to the Team Leader channel and left a text message saying the river will delay them since Gray figured Giacobbe would probably start to get antsy without any updates.

"Ok, single file line behind me, we'll take it one step at a time since the river is too wide to do this one person at a time without it taking even longer than I hoped." Gray said.

Everyone entered into the river one person at a time following the same path as Gray as Gray continued to trudge through the mud towards the opposite bank of the river.  Gray hopped into the Team Leader channel again and left a text message again. "Team 3 requesting diversion from Team 2 near point M6, sitting ducks while crossing river."

A few seconds later a reply from the Team 2 leader said "Affirmative, creating diversion near bank of river."

Looking towards the bridge around 3 kilometers from their position, Gray could see muzzle flashes coming from the forest and even a few lasers streak towards the base.  A few of the defenders looked over the battlements and returned fire at Team 2, but given the range only snipers would be able to do any damage as the lasers would lose focus over that distance in atmosphere and not do any damage.  Still, it did the job of drawing attention towards the southern portion of the base.

Gray reached the middle of the river and the water was about 10 meters deep, his mech was barely able to move so he had to shorten his steps to keep from getting stuck whenever he lifted his mech's legs.  As he made it past the halfway, the water started to get a little shallower and movement became easier once his mech wasn't half submerged in water.

"Okay, looks like we can make it through, follow my path and let's hurry across before the defense stops buying the diversion." Gray said.

Everyone started to move a little faster but seeing as they were all at least half-submerged it wasn't really possible at this point.

Gray was only about 100 meters from the opposite shore when he heard Stacia cry out "I'm stuck!"

Gray looked behind and saw that Stacia was the 2nd to last person in the line and appeared to be unable to lift her leg.

Paul was the last person in the line so he started to move closer to her and said "Hang on, I'll push you out!"

Gray immediately said "NO, leave her there!"

This surprised everyone as they had thought that Gray was a bit softer than this.

"Walk around her, approach from the front, take her mech's hand and pull her slowly out, all of us need to link up and pull her out slowly since if just one tried to do it that one will probably get stuck too." Gray commanded.

Everyone formed a chain of mechs linked hand-in-hand.  "Everyone walk and pull at the same time, one step at a time, step on my command!"

Nobody moved but just held each other's hands then Gray finally commanded "Step!" and everyone took one step with their mechs, Stacia's stuck mech attempted to step as well but couldn't move was merely drug slightly.

"Step!"

As everyone stepped at the same time to drag Stacia again, she was finally able to lift one foot up out of the mud and could now drag her other foot out of the mud too.

"Are you free Stacia?" Gray asked.

"Yes!  I can move again." Stacia said happily.

Everyone continued to wade through the river and finally Gray was the first to reach the other side.  Stacia noticed Paul was still holding her mech's hand.

"Uhmm… you can let go now Paul" Stacia said with embarrassment.

"Oh, uhhh, sorry, I was enjoying holding your hand" Paul said slightly flirtatiously.

"Yeah?  I guess Paul is in to robot love then, that feeling of metal on metal." Geoff said jokingly.

"Screw off!  I didn't enjoy holding her mech's hand, that's not what I meant!" said Paul angrily.

"It is nothing to get mad about Paul, I understand the allure of artificial love as well." Caleb remarked.

"That's also not what I meant!" Paul started to get flustered.

After a little bit more teasing on Paul, everyone had finally made it across the river.

Gray sent Paul a private message.  "Consider yourself initiated into the team!"

A hundred years from now the Earth is now reduced to several domed cities after the last war raised the temperature across the planet thus raising the sea level.

The most common escape for everyone is virtual reality.  A new game, Alterra Online, is set to release and promises to be the most realistic mecha/military/political simulation to date as well as the first full dive virtual reality game.

Gray Wilhelm, like so many others, wants to be one of the first to play.  What is Alterra Online's secret?  Why do players feel more alive in the game than in real life?  And why is the government and Alterra Corporation working on it together?
