Among the ashes of the destroyed pool house, fragments of dark slime crawled through. These slime fragments gathered together and began to intertwine with each other, rising through the ashes.
Barely forty meters away, Zed sensed an odd aura. He turned towards the fusing slime.
"Cockroach!"
He lifted a hand and aimed at the rising slime. A fireball flew out of his hand, leaving behind a trail of flames. 
BANG
Before the fireball could smash the slime, a Dark Beast appeared and destroyed the fireball with a movement of a claw. 
"Damn! That beast rushed past!"
Felicity said.
A movement ago, she was facing this Dark Beast, and now it bought valuable time to give chance to one of its species to revive. 
The slime began gaining shape in the form of a Dark Beast. A corruptive aura boomed out, making the ashes and mud in the vicinity twirl.
GROWL
A savage roar erupted as the slime fully transformed into the Dark Beast.
"This sure is an overpowering ability!"
Olly muttered in shock.
He has thought the beast facing Zed was incinerated, and now seeing it revived... his body turned cold from horror. 
In the true sense, only one beast was knocked out... the one affected by Jessica's ability. That beast has turned unconscious but it hardly gave any joy to Olly seeing this absurd ability to revive. 
"Just what on Earth are these beasts?!"
Not only Olly, but the others were similarly astonished. How were they supposed to face beasts with such reviving ability?!
"An Immortal-class species!" Zed's eyes narrowed. 
"Immortal-class?!" 
Jessica and others looked at him in bewilderment. 
"Living organisms of this species are almost impossible to kill... they could revive again and again."
Zed explained while amassing a vast amount of spiraling flames around his body.
"The only way to kill them is by destroying all traces of their existence... if even a blood drop remains, they can revive."
Years ago, during his expedition to BSE-79, he has freed living organisms of Immortal-class species to distract Castor Damon and escape.[1]
Just as he completed his explanation, the beasts pounced on him and others. The one attacking him was the recently revived best, and based on its savage attacks, the experience of being incinerated wasn't at all pleasant.
Propelled by flames, Zed jumped up high in the air and shot out a spirling column of fire at the beast.
Meanwhile, Felicity and others found the strength of the beasts far greater than they experienced before.
"Were they holding back till now?!"
Loren wondered as she used psionic ripples to slow the beast attacking her and retreat. 
"They must be toying with us!"
Felicity guessed as hundreds of vines stretched out of her hands to pierce the beast rushing at her. The beast's body flashed with black energy and slammed against the vines.
BANG
The vines ripped apart, and through the ripped pieces, the beast pounced forward.
Felicity's eyes glowed with an emerald light and she backed away.
Shua~!
As the beast closed in, the ground around her rumbled and dust rose up.
Through the dust, hundreds of sharp roots shot out like spears and stabbed the Dark Beast. But against the scale-covered body, the sharp roots proved completely useless. They were like eggs smashing against a steel wall...
The beast retaliated by slashing out, and an energy projection of enormous claws swept forward. But much to the surprise of the Dark Beast, the claw projection slashed nothing but thin air.
Felicity was nowhere in sight!
Startled, the beast looked down at the ground and noticed a deep hole in which a few roots retreated. The beast guessed a few roots took the female human into the ground.
Just then, from a distance, a cold, feminine voice rang out:
"Domain!"
The moment the word was spoken, hundreds of thick vines ruptured out of the ground.
The Dark Beast was startled. Not by the appearance of the extraordinarily thick vines, but by the sudden burst of wood element energy in the area.
All around, there was nothing but a whirling barrage of flora! They whirled like carnivorous plants... waiting to derive healthy nutrients from the beast.
There were strange plants, enormous trees, soul-stirring orchids, mutated cactus, and hundred more varieties of flora! 
The Dark Beast felt as if it was transferred into an ominously dense forest!
Shocked, the beast jumped back to retreat, but much to its horror, it couldn't. The vines whipped in the air and formed a barricade, preventing it from leaving.
If given a few seconds of time, the beast could destroy the barricade, but there was no time with the sudden onslaught of the flora.
"ROAR~!"
The Dark Beast opened its mouth and let out a terrifying roar. Cold winds erupted and black energy swirled out, slicing the incoming flora. 
Swoosh~!
The beast released more energy which turned into a black storm. The storm swept through the sea of fauna, surging with ferocious blades of black energy. Wooden trees sliced up, vines shredded to fragments, and flowers turned to dust.
Throughout the terrifying storm, the disintegrated pieces of vegetation rolled up in the air...
But to the horror of Dark Beast, there was no end of flora. Plant matter has the most extraordinary regeneration ability out of all living beings in existence, and the resilient flora showed this ability to the terrified beast.
Through the black storm, the fauna stretched out, emitting extraordinary physical powers. The weight and the size of the fauna ripped through the storm, wiping out the black energy.
GRRRR!
The Dark Beast was shocked by the result. The female human was physically weak, but she has the means to overpower through the number.
GROWL~!
Angered and desperate, the beast lashed out with its sharp claws, dicing hundreds of plants that have no end. The more flora the beast sliced with its claws, the stronger the attack of the field of flora turned.
The thick vines crawled on its body like venomous snakes, slowing down its movement. From sides, man-eating plants opened up and sprayed out a toxic green liquid that began to corrode the scales.
BANG
From above, tree trunks viciously slammed down!
Swoosh~!
Grains of pollen spread out, emitting a delicious fragrant that dulled the senses. Every action of the fauna was to overpower the beast!
In less than a minute, the beast found its body pulled down by vines to the ground, into a field of emerald. 
ROAR
The beast let out a desperate roar as the process continued. Out of the struggling vines, needle-thin vines emerged out like branches in a tree. Without any warning, they rushed into the orifices of the Dark Beast!
ARGH!
Its body trembled as it detected the actions of the vines inside its body. They spread around and opened up to implant glowing seeds!
"GRRRR!"
A painful grunt escaped the beast's mouth and its eyes shut as the seeds in its eyesockets began germinating. 
Soon, countless flowers bloomed out, radiating powerful vitality. The sight of flowers of myriad colors was beautiful, mesmerizing to the soul, but equally terrifying.
"Eternal Rest!"
The cold voice from before ringed out.
Simultaneous to the voice, the field of flora enveloped the Dark Beast in the shape of a casket.
Inside the casket, as the vitality of beautiful flowers turned stronger, the beast's aura turned weak. All its energy flew into the flora that made up the casket, making its body rapidly decay. 
Fifty meters away, Felicity collapsed near the empty pool. Her face turned pale from exhaustion and she made a final hand movement.
Simultaneously, the vines began to absorb the body parts of the beast to completely assimilate it.
"This was more taxing than I thought!"
Felicity thought as blood leaked out of her orifices...

Thirty-five miles away.
A group of mutants rushed through the gaps between the buildings, trying to find clues of the missing Dark Beasts. Suddenly, one of them stopped and looked at an energy detection device.
"A Dark Beast has died!"
The others in the group were stunned.
"That should be impossible!"
"Have you forgotten the reviving ability of Dark Beasts?! No one here would know about it!"
"Just like he said! As long as even a cell remains, the beast would remain alive!"
"So, there is no way the beast could have died!"
The others in the group refused to believe it. Even if someone destroyed the body of the Dark Beast, it was bound to be impossible to wipe out every single cell! That was what it meant to be an Immortal-class species!
Alas, they didn't consider the possibility of the Dark Beast being used as a living fertilizer...

The State Preceptor looked his usual cunning self and the young boy his creepy self as well. Their translucent forms looked as if they might disappear at any moment.
The burly man's greeting had been the loudest. Out of the three Artifact Souls, he was the most loyal.
They hadn't changed a single bit, while Wang Baole was no longer the same Wang Baole. He had been at the Core Formation realm when he had left them. Now, he had returned with his cultivation at the Nascent Soul realm and his battle capabilities rivaling that of a Soul Conduit realm cultivator. In fact, with the combined forces of his Thearch Armor and his Stellar Nascent Soul, killing an early-stage Soul Conduit realm cultivator was almost a cakewalk for him!
His dark demonic eye was another boost to his power. It brought him closer to the level of a late-stage Soul Conduit realm cultivator. At present, even without the Dark Artifact's explicit acknowledgment of him as their master, he could still easily overpower the three Artifact Souls and make them do his bidding.
That was why he hadn't hesitated when the three souls had greeted him. He summoned the Thearch Armor and unleashed the full extent of his cultivation. An incredible power erupted from his person. The expression on the State Preceptor's face shifted. The young boy widened his eyes. The burly man, too, stood rooted to the spot. They had sustained great injuries due to the damage to the Dark Artifact. As a result, they hadn't been able to accurately gauge Wang Baole's level of cultivation. The sudden surge of his cultivation that formed an overwhelming blanket of pressure weighing down on them instantly sent them reeling back.
"Come on, get up. How has the Dark Artifact been during my absence?" Wang Baole stored his Thearch Armor and then asked casually.
As the souls recovered from their initial shock, they hastily replied to Wang Baole. Nothing out of the ordinary had happened while he had been gone. However, due to the lack of materials, repairs of the Dark Artifact had progressed with great difficulty.
Wang Baole nodded. With a wave of his right hand, hordes of materials poured out from his storage bag. There was everything. Perhaps not enough of each material required for the Dark Artifact's repairs, but it was almost there.
Small mountains of materials formed out of the varied types of materials. The Spirit Qi in the air thickened instantly. After Wang Baole pulled out the spirit liquid and stellar source, the Spirit Qi in the air almost transformed into liquid form.
Shock rippled through the three souls again, and their eyes widened. That wasn't the end of it… a greater surprise came in the end!
Wang Baole laid out the items he had gathered on the main Vast Expanse star as well as other planets. The souls grew agitated with excitement when they saw the Supreme Fire Ore that he had gotten in the Mi Luo Forest.
"Supreme Fire Ore!"
"My god, the ore will speed up the repairs. In fact, they're a necessary material for repairing the Dark Artifact, a key component that can't be substituted by any other material!"
"A pity that there's so little of it…" The souls sighed. Wang Baole seemed unfazed when he heard what the State Preceptor had said. He glanced at the latter, then pulled out another storage bracelet. This time, instead of pulling out materials, he pulled out… dozens of storage bags from the storage bracelet. He opened everything, and countless pieces of Supreme Fire Ore flowed out of the bags, piling into a small mountain next to Wang Baole.
The souls staggered with shock. Before they could say anything, Wang Baole hummed in contemplation, then pulled out two beast corpses!
They were the corpses of the Spirit Immortal realm Star Fang Beasts that he had met during his two days in the Mi Luo Forest. His senior brother had forced them to charge each other, and the collision had injured them fatally. Before they had died, they had even saved Wang Baole the trouble of extracting their beast cores by digging the cores out themselves!
"Apply the Dark Artifact's power on these two Star Fang Beasts and resurrect their corpses. I have something important for them to do. Also… begin the repairs on the Dark Artifact immediately. You have ten days. Ten days… to restore the Dark Artifact to the state… where I can take it out of this cave and lead it into space for battle!" The firm tone of Wang Baole's voice allowed no room for disagreement. He knew he hadn't much time left.
The three souls had clearly been sneaking out during his absence, so they were aware of the war between the Federation and the Dao Palace. The State Preceptor had somehow gotten his hands on a receiver that had allowed them to watch the news being broadcast by the Federation. They had been kept abreast of ongoing events outside the cave and knew the severity of the matter at hand. They dared not play the fool, nodding their heads solemnly and immediately going to work. 
Wang Baole watched the souls vanish into thin air. He could sense them hard at work repairing the Dark Artifact. He narrowed his eyes. The former Wang Baole wouldn't have easily allowed the souls to start repairs. That was despite his master using the Dark Dream Mystic Art to get them to acknowledge him as their master in the Dark Dream. The reason being was that the Dark Artifact had been severely damaged, weakening the souls considerably. The restoration of the Dark Artifact would also naturally lead to the three souls' recovery.
Nothing might come out of that. Alternatively… he might be consumed by these souls. That had been a source of hesitation when Wang Baole had scavenged for materials.
Things had changed. Wang Baole didn't have the luxury of time now. He couldn't wait any longer. In addition, he had become more powerful, which had strengthened his resolve and resulted in his decision to make this gamble. Besides, he had done his calculations. He had gathered plenty of materials, but they were still a long way away from fully restoring the Dark Artifact.
We should be able to restore it to fifty percent of its full functionality… my current level of cultivation should be sufficient to activate another function of the Dark Artifact.
Wang Baole narrowed his eyes and extended his Divine Sense. They enveloped the entire Dark Artifact, extending over the Dark Robe, the Dark Sampan, and both the staff and lantern of the Lantern Oar. He relaxed and allowed his mind to maintain a constant state of fusion with these three Dark Artifacts.
That would speed up the souls' repair of the Dark Artifact. In addition, based on what he remembered from the Dark Dream, Wang Baole knew that he should be able to form an avatar of his own consciousness.
That had been beyond his abilities in the past. Now though, Wang Baole felt it was something he should be capable of achieving. 
Amidst Wang Baole's furious formation of hand seals, an illusory figure gradually materialized before him. His eyes were shut, and he looked like the exact twin of Wang Baole. What differentiated them was their attire.
The avatar was dressed in black robes. Beneath his feet was a Dark Sampan, in his hand a Dark Staff, at the end of which hung a Dark Lantern. The avatar wasn't exactly an illusion, yet he wasn't real either. He appeared as if formed from a cloud of black mist that exuded a chilly aura in waves. He was like a messenger of death who had descended upon the living world.
His eyes suddenly opened. Twin ghostly lights flickered in those eyes, making Wang Baole's avatar look inhuman. Wang Baole extended his senses and assessed his avatar's level of fighting capability, then sighed.
Next to none. It's a more convenient way of controlling the Dark Artifact though, at least when compared to using my own true form. Wang Baole fell into a bout of contemplation. Then, his avatar suddenly lifted his right hand and raised his Dark Staff. A vortex suddenly appeared where the two Star Fang Beast corpses had been placed, swallowing the two corpses. Vast Dark Qi suddenly appeared out of nowhere and entered the corpses.
The Dark Artifact will be my go-to weapon. Next, I still have to use the power of the Dark Artifact to refine the two beast corpses into puppets. They will become my second go-to weapon. Determination flashed in Wang Baole's eyes. He steered his avatar into maneuvering the Dark Artifact and began refining the beast corpses.
Puppets were another type of Dharmic treasure, and Wang Baole had a talent that surpassed the ordinary cultivator in this particular area. The experiences he had accumulated in his early years had led to his realization that he had a gift when it came to refining puppets.
During his time as the Grand Supreme Elder in the Dao Palace, he had gone through volumes of Dao Palace records and documents. That had helped him in refining Dharmic Armaments and strengthened his overall mastery of puppets.
Besides puppets, I'll also have to refine and enhance some Dharmic Armaments. With a wave of his hand, Wang Baole summoned a huge black bow. It entered the vortex. His hands came together in a flurry of hand seals as he began the urgent business of refining Dharmic Armaments.
While he was busy with refinement, Mars was also busy preparing for war after the mass teleportation had ended. The Martian Colony Governor's instructions were being carried out dutifully. Time… passed steadily.
Seven days went by. There was an inspection of the Solar System Array Formation, an alarm system was set up across the entire planet, and all Dharmic Artifacts were activated. Then, the Martian Colony Governor gave the orders. The Dharmic Artifacts unleashed their powers simultaneously, transforming into countless beams of light that blasted into the cosmos beyond Mars.
An enormous vortex appeared in space at that exact moment, and the Never-Ending Clan battleship charged out from within!
The Dharmic Artifacts' attacks landed directly on the battleship, but they barely caused a scratch. As the Dharmic Artifacts disintegrated amidst their self-destructive attacks, a figure appeared on the battleship. It was… Daoist You Ran.
"Wang Baole!" There was a stormy look on Daoist You Ran's face, and murder colored his eyes. His right hand rose, then pointed at Mars. The vast fleet of Dao Palace battleships appeared behind him. The remaining survivors of the Dao Palace and a hundred thousand Never-Ending Clan puppets appeared as well and made a charge towards the planet.
The Martian Colony Governor barked out her orders decisively, without any hesitation!
"Deploy the Solar System Array Formation's first wave of offense!"


By the year 3029 CE, Earth's technology has developed rapidly, borders no longer exist, and Earth has been unified, marking the beginning of the era of the Federation.

At that time, a huge sword flew from the heavens, piercing the sun and causing a huge sensation on Earth.

Perhaps because the scabbard of the sword was already in tatters, countless shards have broken off from it following the collision with the sun and spread across the universe. Many of these shards have landed on various places across Earth.

With the arrival of the bronze sword and its shards, a new unlimited energy source has suddenly appeared on Earth. This energy source has since been named Spirit Qi.

Spirit Qi is like air, thick in some places and thin in others. As the Federation and other factions gather more shards, they discover more information on cultivation, pill refinement, Spirit Stone refinement, and other techniques. The words on the shards have an ancient feel to them, making it a trend for people to use ancient language.

The appearance of Spirit Qi rapidly makes the original energy sources obsolete and has completely changed people's lives. Not only has the Spirit Internet been formed, Spirit Qi has also changed the course of Human Civilization, causing the world to enter a civilization of cultivation. This would later come to be known as the Spirit Inception Era.
 


Dudian couldn't wait for the frozen storage's door to open because of thrill. Everything inside was as is the last time he had left it. There was pile of rubbish on the sleeping mattress. It had dried up and an unpleasant smell was emitted. 

    He wasn't going to clean the garbage. He quickly pressed the button inside the frozen storage and the energy repository opened up. There were three round energy tubes inside. The one at the bottom had a light blue luster on it which looked like precipitated magma. The others were dull looking in comparison to it. 

  Dudian quickly removed the energy tube and dismantled the chip reader. His face changed as he quickly closed the frozen storage capsule. He rapidly went out of the cage and moved towards the outer edge of the hall. There were alchemists and potion masters who were lying down as they had lost their consciousness because of the green fog. Not many were successful at escaping the calamity.

    Dudian hid the energy tube and chip reader inside his robe. He sensed quite a few people coming from square towards the hall. 

    Dudian immediately laid down on ground and faked his condition. 

    Moments later a team of well-equipped dark knights came to the center of the square. There was green mist floating around the square. The team was led by a young woman and a middle-aged man. Both of them glanced at each other. Middle-aged man looked at the young woman.: "You should keep guard here and don't let anyone go out! One of you should protect the passage!" He raised his hand and waved at two dark knight to step out and follow him into the poisonous fog. 

    It was obvious that they have taken antidotes. They ran at full speed into the hall. The first thing they did was to check the object of the gods. It was still inside the cage however there were pillars which had been destroyed. The middle-aged man sighed in relief because the object hasn't been stolen. He looked at people who were lying unconscious in the hall. It seems the people who had ran towards the exit didn't want to be involved in such an attack. 

    Middle-aged man glanced around the fainted people and made a hand gesture towards the two dark knights behind him. 

  Both of them understood the meaning behind the gesture, turned back and ran outside. They came to the the center of the square and looked at the young woman.: "Reporting to captain. The object of the gods is still inside. Captain Simon will be inside guarding it." 

    Young woman was relieved. She turned towards the dozen dark knights and shouted.: "A team must stay at the outer edge. Two teams should immediately take the antidote and go inside for investigation. The attackers most probably are mixed with people lying inside. Check their bodies and see if they carry a weapon or a foreign object. Immediately arrest on spot!"

    "Yes."

    The two teams of dark knights in accordance to her orders began to quickly act up. 

    The young woman's gaze was focused on a particular dark knight.: "Tell the patrols to send people to clean the air. They should let the others to evacuate and order them not to cause unnecessary casualties."

    "Yes." The dark knight nodded in comfirmation and left. 

    One of the dark knights began to give antidote pills to the other dark knights who were lined up. Afterwards they began to check the clothes of people who were lying unconscious on the ground in the square. 

    There was a cold look in her eyes as the young woman as she folded her arms around her chest and observed the place. 

    Boom! 

    A sound of violent explosion echoed out. It was similar to the sound made when the thunder hit the ground. Even though because of layers of soil the penetrating force was weakened but still it was an unusual occurrence. 

    The young woman was caught in surprise. She couldn't help but look back at the passage. 

    The middle aged man standing in the hall also heard the sound of explosion. The sound seemed to be coming from above the manor. 

    What has happened?

    Have the attackers already left the place and moving through the outside of manor?

    Middle-aged man looked back at the cage. He clenched his teeth and looked at the dark knight.: "You stay here. I'm going out to see what has happened. If there is something unusual then immediately inform Captain Aisha." He rushed out from the hall and came out to the square. After passing through the poisonous fog he found the young woman.: "What has happened?" 

    Aisha was shocked: "There seems to be big movement outside the manor. Do you think the attackers have mixed with the crowd and fled out?"

    Simon's face changed.: "Impossible! We have responded very fast. The attackers should have fought with the knights in the hall. Moreover they had to destroy the pillars to enter the cage. It should take a lot of time. There is no way that they could do all of this and rush out to mix with crowd in such a little time period."

    Aisha looked at him.: "But you are saying that the object of the gods is still inside the cage. Most probably they were aware that they wouldn't be able to completely break the cage and remove the object. They should have been scared of this and mixed with the crowd to run away."

    Simon though about the traces of destruction of the cage. The attackers seemed to have spent a lot of effort the destroy two small iron pillars. If they wanted to have enough space to remove the object then they would have to spent several times more time and effort. His eyes lit up as he looked at Aisha.: "I will go out to check the situation. You continue to control the situation in here. Perhaps some of the companions haven't been able to escape." 

    Aisha's eyes were full of worry as she looked at the back of middle-aged man as he departed. 

    Dudian slowly opened his eyes and looked around. He focused on the dark knight who was standing a bit away from him. In a flash he quickly jumped up and rushed towards the dark knight. 

   The dark knight's reaction was slow and late. He felt the movement and turned around. But he was late as his eyes shrank. He wanted to pull out his sword while he wanted to shout and alert the others. 

    Whoosh!

    Dudian's dagger pierced into dark knight's mouth and interrupted his cry. 

    Dudian was like a panther when he made the move. He was grasping onto the handle of dagger as he put a bit of force and the dagger came out from the other side of dark knight's head. 

    The dark knight's body went stiff and his eyes turned dull. 

    Dudian pulled back the dagger and made sure that the dark knight's body softly fall to the ground. He rushed out of the hall into the square. He moved through the green fog to stay unnoticed as long as possible. His footsteps were so fast and light that the others couldn't hear his movement until one of the dark knight's saw a shadow moving towards him. The dark knights were focused on searching the bodies of people in the square who had fainted. The dark knight was a bit slow to react. The first thought that popped in his mind was that the attack had appeared. The second was to protect himself! 

   The dark knights held onto their weapons and were ready to deal with Dudian. Dudian rushed out from the fog and moved towards one the dark knight's in a rapid momentum. The dark knight's heart was timid. They were comparable to a junior hunter in terms of strength but they didn't have ferociousness of a hunter. 

   The dark knight knew that he couldn't go back so he made the judgement instantly and stabbed the  sword towards Dudian's head. 

    Dudian's body suddenly made a turn and twist. The dagger in his hand stabbed from bottom to up along the dark knight's chin. It stabbed through the dark knight's head and he pulled out the dagger. 

   Aisha reacted instantly the moment she heard the movement. She didn't think that an attack was still lurking inside the place. "What kind of stupid courage he has?" She quickly pulled out the sword from her taist. She tightly stared at the green fog. She was aware that the person(s) who dared to break into this place to grab the object of the gods were not of simple origin.

   Dudian used the green mist as camouflage. It didn't hinder his line of sight. He had already seen the young woman and the team of knights following her. 

    Dudian had determined the woman as the strongest of the team. His eyes quickly fell on the woman. In a flash he went all the way through past the fog towards her.


Catastrophe erupted, it was the end of the world.
Survivors were surrounded by the impregnable wall, a new order was established...

[8 years later]

The setting is back in China Town outside the corner shop where Dark found the 1000 Ginseng. We zoom in the see the store owner cleaning his shop. He is clearly older now. The town may have changed but this shop is just the same. We hear a ding from the bell over the front door as it swings open and close. "Hello! Welcome!" The shop owner turns to see who the visitor is. 
"Hello Mr. Xi! How are you doing today?" Dark, now 13 years old, says as he grabs some snacks and herbs from the shelfs.
Mr. Xi the shop owner is happy to see Dark. By now, Dark is one of Mr. Xi's best customers. Dark is also happy to see Mr. Xi. Ever since the first day they met, Mr. Xi has been very kind to Dark. Dark treats Mr. Xi with a lot of respect for his knowledge and resources of herbs. It's also obvious that in this life, Dark has gained a sweet tooth. Every visit Dark makes sure to grab the same candy Mr. Xi gave him when they first met, among other things. 
The conversation soon turns when Mr. Xi asks Dark about school. Dark will be starting 7th grade soon at the best private middle school in town. He is preparing, but admits he is not very excited for the curriculum. 
"Last year was so boring. I knew everything they covered in class already. Studying with The Professor is like learning the entire history of the world one edition at a time." Dark says with an exhausted expression on his face. Dark thinks to himself in frustration, "if our two worlds' histories weren't so different, then I could have finished college by now!"
Mr. Xi says wise and encouraging words to help dark understand that these day will pass. Mr. Xi tells Dark that he is smart and with a mind like Dark's he could change the world.
Dark pays for his snacks and walks away whispering, "You have no idea." We zoom in on Dark's scowl and evil grin. 

[Some sort of intro video]

Back at home, Dark walks down the street. He walks by some old houses that have long since been abandoned. The neighborhood used to be filled with low income housing and people. However, the residents grew older and slowly faded away. The old buildings renovated and price tags exponentially increased. Dark walks up the stairs of an empty house and notices a package on the porch. He recognizes the delivery and quickly grabs the package. He puts it in his bag and heads down the block. He finds another abandoned house that has not been renovated yet. He reaches his hands inside the rain gutter and pulls out another package wrapped very carefully. He also places this inside his bag before heading home. 
Meanwhile, across town we hear a little girl yell out, "Where are you!?" The little girl no older than 7 years old is running around some trees and bushes looking for someone. She is pushing back bush after bush. Checking behind rocks and under anything she can lift. Suddenly she hears a rumble. It came from behind the trash can. She slowly creeps up, checking left and right for anything suspicious. As she inches closer, she prepares herself and lunges over saying, "found you! Aw man Tre! Why would you hide somewhere so gross?"
We see Tre who is now 10 years old playing hide and go seek in a puddle of garbage juice."First rule of hiding is to disguise your sent. Besides, I thought this would be the last place you would look." Tre stands up and walks out from behind he trash. 
"Well you were actually the first person I found so help me find Light." She turns around and cups her hands. "You can't hide forever Brother!" She shouts. 

[Flash to a 10 year old Light meditating high up in a tree]

We can hear the echo of Light's younger sister's words as he meditates. Light is peaceful balanced on a branch focusing on his internal energy. We zoom into his mind which is consumed with thoughts of the past. 

[Flash back to Light's precious life]

It is the night after finding out about Light and Dark's internal energies. We see Light meditating on the edge of a cliff overlooking a valley and a night sky. We can see many stars in the sky shining over the grass covered lands with many trees in the background. Despite the very calming scenery, Light is clearly struggling with his cultivation. We can see a strained look on his face. 
We hear footsteps as Light's Master walks up behind Light. Light quickly turns around and bows to pay respects. 
"Did you know that meditation with a clouded mind can only lead a person to more roadblocks", the master says as he sits down next to Light.
"You heard what he said. I mean, what could I even say to that?" Light says with pain and confusion on his face. 
"Your brother is hurting. He just found out something that will change his life forever. After everything you boys have been through, I thought fate would spare you any more trouble." The Master says with a sigh. 
"It seems fate has deemed me destined to ruin anyone I come into contact with" Light says as he curls into a ball. 
"The master stands up y'all and looks down on his pupil. He sharply says, "you are destined to be a warrior against the darkness. You will protect all of mankind from the monsters they cannot protect themselves from!"
Light looks up and the master can see Light's anxiety increasing on his face. The master kneels down and puts a hand on Light's back. 
"What happened back then was not your fault", the Master says with a sigh. "The path you now walk will be filled with loss and peril beyond imagination. People will fight and heroes will fall, but the path laid before you is one only you can walk." Light looks up at his Master, hesitant to say anymore. 
The Master stands up and extends his hand. "Come on. Let's go find your brother. We will begin traveling to the monks temple in the morning."

[Flash back to Light meditating in a tree in his current life]

We hear a voice calling out to Light. It starts out quiet, but gets louder and louder. "Light!" Light shifts just a bit after being startled by his sister and Tre standing below him looking up. "I found you!" The 8 year old girl jumps around in victory for winning the game. Light climbs down and congratulates his sister. She wants to play another round, but Light tells her it's already been too late. 
"Besides", Light turns to the two of them, "we should probably get some meditating in before Tre has to go home. 
Both Tre and Light's sister jump as the scream. 
"Yay!" from Light's sister and "Heck yes!" from Tre. 
The three are seen walking back to Light's house. The woods where they played were just in their backyard. 

[Flash to Dark getting home after picking up the two packages]

We see Dark pass room after room. The house is very large as his father's company is still flourishing. Dark turns to a long hallway with his room at the far end. As he passes door after doors, he gets stopped by a young woman in a red top and black mini skirt. "Exactly where have you been little man?" The woman looks down at dark while eating one of his candies from his room. 
"I went for a walk to clear my head. Exactly what do you want Lisa?" Dark stares daggers as an awkward silence fills the hall. 
The woman is Lisa, The Lord's mistress turned new lady of the house. Dark wasn't sure what he didn't like more. That Lisa was half his father's age, that she was so nosey in all of Dark's business, or that she constantly raided his snack supply. 
Lisa explains that the Lord is out on a business trip so she was in charge. Dark rolls his eye and walks into his room. He shuts the door as Lisa is yelling down the hall. 
Dark locks his door and turns on music to drown out her yelling. He then opens his bag and sets the two packages in the table. Out of his pocket he pulls out a Swiss Army knife and begins to cut open the first package. Inside we see prairie grass. Dark smiles as he takes a huge sniff of the contents. With a sigh of satisfaction, Dark carries the plants to his closet where he hides them in a chest along with more herbs, hot plate, and a pot. 
"Finally I have more prairie grass. I have no problem ordering some from amazon, but I can't let Lisa or my father know about what I'm doing."
[Fade to a visual explanation while Dark narrates]
This prairie grass has an abundance of essential minerals needed to stimulate my body and prepare all my organs to handle massive amounts of energy flowing through them. When boiled with these herbs, the mixture can increase the bodies strength, toughness, and open the pours to allow more energy to be released. Now that my energy has spread throughout my body, I'll need to bathe in these minerals every day. A couple drops in a bath is all it takes to enrich it with the tonic. 

[Fade back to Dark in his room]

"I've trained my body like this for years now and managed to keep it a secret. If Lisa finds this then she will definitely take it and tell my father. I have to do something about her." Dark says as he slowly walks back to the table where the second package sits. Dark stares at it as our perspectives fade to black. 

[Flash back Light and the Master looking for Dark]

"Dark! Dark!" Light calls out to his brother as he and the Master walk through the forest. The Master can sense energy in the near vicinity. 
All of a sudden, BOOM! A loud noise is heard near the base of a nearby mountain. The Master quickly sprints to the source of the noise with Light following close behind. The two arrive to find Dark knelt down with cracks all over the ground. The scene looks almost like an explosion went off! The Master looks around before looking at his disciple. 
"Dark, what happened?" Light says as he slowly inches towards his brother. 
Dark quickly turns around, eyes glowing with dark power. "Don't touch me!" Dark pushes away Light's hand. "Why are you the only one that gets to go study in a temple? When did I ever ask for any of this!?"
The master steps in front of Light as a gush of dark energy flows out of Dark. As Dark's emotions increase, so does the power flowing out of him. 
"Tell me Master, what can I do to change this?" Dark screams. "What? What!?"

[Flash to the moment Dark places his hands on the Quartz stone in front of his Master and Brother.]

Dark holds the stone as it begins to pulse with Dark purple energy. All three stare at the stone as the purple haze reflects in their eyes. The master is shocked while the two boys stand confused. 
"I don't believe it", the master says as he kneels closer to the stone. 
Light asks, "Master, what does this mean?"
"I never thought I would see this in my lifetime. Dark's inner energy has a shadow nature! There hasn't been a shadow nature in thousands of years!" The master stands back up with a troubled look on his face. 
"Yes! Way to go Dark! Your power is super rare!" Light pats his brother on the back as Dark smiles with pride. 
The master turns to face both the brothers and shouts, "You fools!" Dark and Light become silent as the master stands over them both. 

[Flash to a visual explanation with the Master narrating]

"In the very beginning of all time there was only darkness. That darkness energy, also known as Shadow energy, was everywhere and covered everything. Nothing else existed but darkness. One day darkness felt a tear in itself. From this rip came light which destroy all darkness it touched. It started small but then exploded with the Big Bang. Once the Big Bang happened, darkness was overcome by all the other elements in the universe. The last darkness cultivator was an evil warlord that brought war and destruction to an entire region.The appearance of the shadow element has always been a bad omen for mankind!"

[Fade back to Dark and Light listening to their Master]

Light stares up at his Master in fear while Dark looks down in anger. "How many times?" Dark drops the stone and stands up staring at his brother. "How many times will I have to lose to you!?"
"Brother what do you mean?", Light says as his wyes begin to tear up. 
Dark takes a few steps back, "If it wasn't for you being being born then our family would have still been wealthy. Father would still be here and we wouldn't have to be hungry for so long! You always stuck to our Mother's side like a scared dog and she coddled you like her only son. She completely forgot about her first born! She never would have guess her precious little pet would lead bandits home to take her too!"
The master steps towards Dark pleading with him to calm down. 
Dark only escalates more and more until he runs off towards the woods leaving Light and his Master behind. Light, now fully in tears, runs in a different direction, leaving the master with his head held down. 

[Flash to Light and The Master at the base of the mountain with Dark]

Dark's powers continue to surge. The Master begs his disciple to listen to him, but it's far too late. Dark cannot hear his Master's words. The power grows and grows as Dark begins to float in the air. We can see a dark purple crystal necklace rise from around Dark's neck as he yells out, "You've taken everything from me!" Suddenly there is a huge explosion that blinds Light and the Master. When the dust settles, Dark is nowhere to be found. 
Light frantically calls out to his brother who is clearly long gone. "Master, what should we do about Dark?"
The master places his hand on Light's shoulder. 

[Flash to Dark standing in his bedroom in his current life with The Master's voice narrating]

Dark is standing over the 2nd unopened package. He pulls out his knife and begins to unwrap it. 
"I don't know young Light. There are no other darkness cultivators in this day and age. No one knows how to cultivate darkness energy, but one thing is for certain. You will see your brother again, and poor Dark is in for a very difficult road ahead of him."
The package opens on 13 year old Dark's desk to reveal a large amount of cash. Dark stares at the money with a evil scowl and smile.

Two brothers end up on opposite sides when a terrible childhood event leaves both brothers without parents and forced to grow up in the martial world on their own. Fast forward to the future, both brothers clash in a final battle that nearly destroys the world as they know it, but a mysterious power gives both brothers a new chance at life as children of different households. The massive dark-red cave extended out above his head and under his feet. Lin Sheng stood at the entrance, looking ahead. The place was red, an endless plain that expanded out into all three directions before him. Above him was an enormous red-rock dome.
Glancing out, he could see a sparse number of dark spirits floating in the air. Unlike the dark spirits in the small cave, the ones here were more aggressive.
Lin Sheng had seen with his own eyes many dark spirits pounced on and ate their own kind while they were communicating with the other world. Some dark spirits would suddenly grow in size and strength while communicating; apparently the gains from the deal were no small deal.
Lin Sheng looked down at the ground, which was neither soil nor rock but clouds that squirmed like living tissues. Through the clouds, he could vaguely make out the snake-like living things zipping past under his feet. It was mysterious and horrifying.
"This place is no amusement park for sure." Lin Sheng kept his guard on. Fortunately, the dark spirits he had seen so far were all within his control. The strength of a Six-winger was considered the mightiest here. More so because he possessed the powerful, dark spirit-suppressing holy power.
Lin Sheng thought for a moment before he stretched out his right hand. A slender green sword glowing in bright white light appeared in his hand. It was a special weapon, the bone and the blade of which were forged with dark energy and holy power respectively. But it was not as dazzling as the pure holy power-simulated long sword. This way, he could keep the fluctuation of holy power in the weapon to the minimum. So long as he was careful and keeping it covert, he could harvest these dark spirits without attracting their attention.
Lin Sheng clenched the slender sword in his hand, planting his feet on the ground before lunging out like an arrow. In the blink of an eye, he first pierced through the body of a dark spirit twenty meters away. It went up in white flames and turned into a dark spirit bead in an instant. Lin Sheng swiftly caught the bead in his hand as he charged at the second dark spirit.
With the exception of the General-class, these dark spirits were defenseless before him. The strength of the dark spirits lied in their mind and soul, and it was these realms that Lin Sheng had subdued to perfection. He had absorbed too many soul fragments. In terms of soul strength and quantity, he was at least as strong as five Darkspirit Generals. Let's not forget that he also had the support of an army of summoned commanders behind him. So it made light work of dealing with these ordinary dark spirits, one dark spirit at a time and not breaking a sweat.
In the world of red, Lin Sheng lunged up and turned into a white thread, hopping from one dark spirit to the next like a bolt of lightning. Every dark spirit he touched, it instantly burned and turned into dark spirit bead.
In just five minutes, a thousand dark spirits within a few hundred meters in the vicinity had vanished. After energization, Lin Sheng's power was explosive and his movement was lightning quick. He was at least 2.5 times more rapid than before he got the Chaotic Blood. The noise produced when he killed the dark spirits with the slender white sword was low. At one time, when he was slaying a dark spirit, another one at ten meters away was totally clueless about what happened.
Each time when Lin Sheng got a dark spirit bead, he purified it with his holy power into pure soul-power bead and ate it at once. Just like that, his soul power swelled like a balloon. But there was no obvious qualitative change for the moment because of his already massive soul power. He did not give up. There were more dark spirits up ahead, no worries of food shortage.
A beam of white light pierced into the back of a lizard-like dark spirit. As soon as it opened its mouth trying to shriek, white flame broke out and consumed it instantly, all happened within a short one second. A dark spirit bead appeared and Lin Sheng collected it in his hand. This was the only General-class dark spirit in this area. It almost managed to scream before it died.
The attack strength of a General-class dark spirit was similar to that of a Six-winger; it was quick as a flash in its responsiveness. Fortunately, Lin Sheng was immune to the soul attack because he had the suppressive ability of the holy power. The same could not be said about others, though. The dark spirits would have devoured and made them their slaves.
Lin Sheng tucked his sword. The space behind him was now all empty; he had wiped out an area of a few hundred meters with no one single dark spirit left. Those farther ahead had long scattered and fled away except some powerful ones. They had grouped together trying to put up a fight with Lin Sheng.
As dumb as these dark spirits were, they had now come to their senses and knew that things were wrong. After witnessing how Lin Sheng had slaughtered their own kind like chickens, the dark spirits started to quake in their boots. They tried to communicate with him, but Lin Sheng sent a burst of energy into his sword. It rattled and canceled all incoming soul waves that tried to communicate with him.
"Vengeful Wail!" A humanoid dark spirit struck its fist at Lin Sheng from afar.
A blast of black light beam accompanied by a dragon-like roar whistled toward Lin Sheng. It flew like a black comet with a tail, scorching and breaking the ground and vaporizing the water on its path. Even the light in the surroundings was twisting and dancing.
"Meaningless struggle!"
Lin Sheng struck out his sword. A crescent white light cut the black-gray comet in half in the middle. The two deadly beams of energy barely scraped past Lin Sheng on either side and struck the ground, leaving behind two hideously large pits on the floor.
"Not bad, not too slow!"
Before his voice trailed off, Lin Sheng had come beside the humanoid dark spirit, striking his sword in a horizontal direction. While it was still admiring how powerful his comet was, the dark-green, dark energy-sword had compressed a glorious holy light in it. The move was too quick and too powerful for the dark spirit to react. When the dark spirit came to his senses, it was too late. The humanoid dark spirit vanished in the crisp slice.
Lin Sheng held the dark spirit bead in his hand. With the flash of the holy light, the bead disappeared into his palm.
"This one was more powerful, at least ten times the strength of other dark spirits with different shapes but the same class." Carrying the sword, he moved in the direction where most of the dark spirits had fled.
The habit of weaker living things was such that they would group together to make themselves feel safer. So there was more prey available where the dark spirits went.
After absorbing the dark spirit bead, Lin Sheng stomped his feet on the ground, the earth quaked as he hurled forward like a bullet, flying past a vast expanse of dark-red ground. Quickly, he saw a sea of dark spirits up ahead.
He could not wait. Storming into the group of dark spirits, he silently burned and turned them into beads. The number of dark spirits here rapidly dwindled. He struck with his sword, one dark spirit at a time. He was burning through his holy power reserve. But in exchange, he got the dark spirit beads, which he could consume and turn them as part of his soul power.
He was now well above the limit of Six Wings. His newly enhanced Rock Dragon bloodline had once again experienced a qualitative change. As his bodily defenses had gotten an upgrade, his capacity for the holy power expanded. So while he was rapidly exhausting his holy power, his soul was energized. His holy power was converting into soul power and then distributed throughout his body.


This is a story of an ordinary boy gaining unusual powers from his nightmares... It all started when Lin Sheng experienced something strange on what he thought was just another normal day. He begins to have recurring dreams that lead him on an incredible journey of discovery as he encounters spine-chilling monsters and elusive secrets.

With a thunderous roar, a giant Dark Dragon, larger than twice the size of a usual Dark Dragon, pounced from the cliff, followed by more than a dozen ferocious Dark Dragons. 
The enormous Dark Dragon had wings that spanned up to ten meters, huge lantern-sized eyes, scales on its body each the size of half a basketball and black shiny giant claws…
Looking at the colossal Dark Dragon King and its monstrous, murderous aura, the troops and adventurers near the stone carving were in a state of panic, as were the powerful factions.
"Nick, raise your sword and chest out! Hurry!"
"But… Uncle Kapurt, I don't want to die, I really don't want to die!"
… 
Looking at the colossal Dark Dragon King in the sky, a smallish trooper paled and shook with fear. A middle-aged trooper beside him, Kapurt, could not say anything, but could only pat his shoulder with a sombre expression.
"I don't want to die either!"
Kapurt muttered unconsciously, as he touched the letter he received from his family who were in Wissen Town, a few days ago. As he thought about his little baby angel at home, who had just learned how to walk, his heart ached. He had at first hoped to start his own small business back in his hometown with the money he earned from this expedition or go back to become a guard for the town's Lord. But now, it seemed like it would be a miracle if he could get out of this alive, much less earn a sum of money.
Kapurt didn't want to die. He didn't want to die at all. But he knew clearly that if he were to give up fighting and be frozen from fear, he would only die faster. 
Looking at the slight fellow who didn't even reach his shoulders, Nick, he felt a wave of guilt. He had wanted to help his friend's son earn some money, so he brought him along. It now looked like not only did he not help; he might even cause his friend to lose a son in his old age!
… 
With the looming threat of the Dark Dragon King, the troops and adventurers were in utter disarray. Some of them were running around in a panic, scattering in all directions. Some hid underneath piles of rocks, shaking in fear. While some stood pale-faced and frozen in panic.
Compared to the people near the stone carving, Yang Ling and his people were much more relaxed. On top of the protection from Restriction, they were also very far away from the action, so they were much safer. But, looking at the ferocious Dark Dragon King, they could not help but feel anxious. 
This was the so-called Level Surpassing Magical Beast, the Dark Dragon King? 
Looking at the murderous Dark Dragon King, Yang Ling sucked in a breath of cold air, a grave look on his face. A level nine Dark Dragon was already so difficult to handle, much less a Level Surpassing Dark Dragon King. 
Thankfully he had the foresight to retreat in time!
Looking at the terrified troops and adventurers near the stone carving, Yang Ling shook his head. It was definitely true that people die in pursuit of wealth while birds die in pursuit of food!
In his eyes, the troops and adventurers who follow the powerful factions were no different from a group of moths who fly toward flame, heedless of consequences.
Not to mention the Magical Beasts or monsters in the Underground City, even if they were lucky enough to pick up a Divine Weapon or two, they would not be able to escape the powerful factions' attacks. The only reason they were able to survive thus far was because the powerful factions, such as the Church, Dark Association and Orcs, had not shown their teeth yet!
To get into the Underground City, the various powerful factions could work together to deal with the Dark Dragons blocking the way, temporarily maintaining peace with each other. But Yang Ling was certain that once they were in the cave and found the Divine Weapons, they would turn on each other. By then, the ragtag bunch of troops and adventurers would be the first to be targeted by the powerful factions. 
"Humans, do not try to break the Seal of Evil and release hell's demon." After circling in the air a few times, the Dark Dragon King continued, "This is no place for the likes of you. Be gone!"
Looking at the corpses of their friends, the Dark Dragons behind the Dark Dragon King bared their teeth and waved their claws. They could not wait to spit fire and burn all the humans near the stone carving to ashes. However, the Dark Dragon King calmly circled in the air. As a Level Surpassing Magical Beast, he was able to instinctively feel the power of the various factions.
"God says that it is everyone's responsibility to rid the Underground City of evil!"
The White-robed Cardinal Bishop said as he stepped forward, the staff in his hand glowing a milky white, obvious to the naked eye. The glow came off the staff in waves and wherever the Holy Light passed, the people in the area would feel relieved, as the overwhelming oppressive presence of the Dark Dragon King was reduced.
Glancing from the White-robed Cardinal Bishop to the colossal Dark Dragon King in the sky, the Warrior wearing the golden cloak strode forward and said, "Ridding the Continent of the Undead has been Bellimore Family's goal for thousands of years!" 
With the example set by the Church and Bellimore Family, the Experts of the powerful factions all stepped forward one by one. It was getting dark, the passageway leading to the Underground City was getting narrower and the Dark Dragon King was very powerful. Left with no choice, the factions had to show their strength. 
"Hehe, to rid the Continent of the Undead?"
Looking at Elder Klive who was surrounded by a cloud of dark gas and the Zombies and Skeletons summoned by the Angus Family, the Dark Dragon King smiled coldly.
As a Level Surpassing Magical Beast, it could instinctively feel how powerful Experts like the White-robed Cardinal Bishop, the Warrior wearing a golden cloak and Elder Klive were. However, the entrance to the Underground City was closing soon. If he could buy a bit more time, soon, none of the humans would be able enter the Underground City as they wished, no matter how powerful they were.
As they saw the mouth of the stone carving slowly closing, and looking at the Dark Dragon King, who was slowly circling in the air and not attacking, Experts such as the White-robed Cardinal Bishop and Elder Klive immediately figured out what the Dark Dragon King was planning, without much thought. With that, they met one another's eyes, then attacked.
Even if the Experts themselves could charge into the Underground City with extreme speed, they could not guarantee the safety of their forces going in, or a safe way back after they had gotten the Divine Weapon, unless they eradicate the guardian of the Underground City, the Dark Dragon King.
"Blade Storm!"
With a roar, the Warrior in the golden cloak, of the Bellimore Family, attacked first. Like a cannonball, he catapulted high up off that ground. With a wave of his sharp, long sword, sharp blades shot out, whooshing towards the Dark Dragon King in the air.
Howl…
The Dark Dragon King let out a loud roar as he saw the all-encompassing storm of blades heading towards him. After muttering a few words, the black glow on his body shifted. Then, ignoring the blades that were drawing close, the Dark Dragon King led a group of Dark Dragons and charged downwards with a 'whoosh'. Dragon Thorn Rebound Magic?
Seeing how the blades were being reflected back, the look on the Warrior in the golden cloak's face fell solemn. He used Wind Step to dodge the Dark Dragon King's sharp tip. With a stabbing sound, the warrior's sharp long sword opened a wound in a Dark Dragon's stomach, deep enough the see bone.
An eye for an eye, a life for a life!
The Dark Dragon King had missed on the first strike. Looking at the detestable Warrior in the golden cape, the Dark Dragon King was greatly angered. Rapidly rising into the air, he opened his mouth to shoot out great balls of flame. In an instant, the warriors of the Bellimore Family who did not dodge in time, were vaporized. 
"Hmph, Break Through Space and Time!"
Just as the Dark Dragon King was preparing to follow up on his attack and completely decimate the remaining warriors of the Bellimore Family, the White-robed Cardinal Bishop raised his hand to release a curved blade of glowing light. It whooshed towards the Dark Dragon King in the sky. A Dark Dragon raced to intercept the attack, wanting to take the hit for the Dark Dragon King. Unexpectedly, with a 'crack', the Dark Dragon's waist was snapped in half in an instant, with blood and guts gushing out!
Break Through Space and Time?
Looking at the curved blade of glowing light that snapped the Dark Dragon's waist in half, Elder Klive, who was preparing to attack, looked solemn. Though he knew that the White-robed Cardinal Bishop had already surpassed the level of a Domain Expert, he had never expected the White-robed Cardinal Bishop's powers to have grown so tremendously, to such a terrifying state, that he could cast Break Through Space and Time in an instant. 
The Break Through Space and Time spell was powerful beyond compare. It was arguably the Church Spellcaster's most powerful Single Attack Magic. 
As an opponent of the Church, Elder Klive naturally understood how terrifying Break Through Time and Space was. It was unknown how many Dark Knights and Dark Spellcasters had died under this spell over the past thousand years.
Having gotten over his shock, there was no time to waste, and Elder Klive took part in the joint attack against the Dark Dragon King. Regardless of their irreconcilable conflict with the Church, joining forces to defeat the Dark Dragon King who was blocking their way, then getting into the Underground City was the most important goal right now.
The Dark Dragon King unleashed his powers, attacking from left and right, trying his best to stall for time; while various powerful factions sent out their best men for a joint attack. In an instant, the two sides were all-out killing each other, as rivers of blood flowed.
Though the Dark Dragons' attacks were precise, they were outnumbered. Under the combined attack of the various powerful factions, the tide was turning against them. The Dark Dragons beside the Dark Dragon King grew fewer in number, from 50 to eight. Very quickly, that number became five. Furthermore, all of them were badly wounded, and the Dark Dragon King was no exception. 
Of course, in order to fatally wound the Dark Dragon King, the various powerful factions also paid a heavy price!
More than half of the Church's army was wiped out. Even the White-robed Cardinal Bishop was brutally hit in the chest by the Dark Dragon King's claw, causing him to vomit blood. The Warrior with the golden cloak had his long sword broken by the Dark Dragon King's strike, and his left leg was badly mangled…
Meanwhile, Yang Ling was coldly standing by and watching. He waited until the Dark Dragon King was badly wounded, before leading his army into the battlefield, in the name of exterminating evil. However, his bark was worse than his bite. Whether intentionally or not, every time they succeeded in hitting a Dark Dragon, his Magical Beast Army and Peach Blossom Crossbows would accidentally kill many more people. However, weapons had no eyes, and no one noticed it anyway, as they were caught up in the tense situation!
It did not matter if they could not get a few Dark Dragons. If the Dark Dragon King could be turned into a Level Surpassing Zombie Dragon, it would be like having a Divine Weapon!
The Angus Family, seeing that the Dark Dragon King was getting more wounded and his speed of flying was slowing down, sent out all their elite troops, regardless of the cost. This time round, they especially asked a few Cyclops to keep an eye on Yang Ling. If he were to come close to the wounded Dark Dragon King at the critical moment, then they would immediately attack without mercy.
But even the best-laid plans can fail!
In order to get and turn the heavily wounded Dark Dragon King into a Level Surpassing Zombie Dragon, the Angus Family put in their everything. Out of more than a hundred Undead Wizards, there were only a dozen or so left. Not to mention the Undead Army that was summoned. Basically, for every ten of the army, nine were destroyed. 
What they did not expect was that, just as they had the dying Dark Dragon King cornered and were about to get him, Yang Ling used Retrieval Restriction from afar and instantaneously transported him into the Wizard Pagoda's Space. Not only did the Angus Family not get the Dark Dragon King, even the few of their clan members left standing, were whisked away by Yang Ling! The Angus Family had suffered a total defeat!

The battle between Netherspirit's Menace and Dark Dragon was extremely intense, dropping every spectator's jaw to the ground. From the first Tier 5 AoE magic attack bursting in the sky to the powerful mix of hurricane and hailstorm, the attacks never stopped. The shockwaves of the elements and magic kept bombarding them again and again. It seemed that it would not stop ever.
It was not only difficult for the Tier 4 players to stay in the area. Even the Tier 5 champions were spooked by the swirling storms of wind and ice elements running amok in front of them.
The "Hurricane Hailstorm" was so thick that it was impossible to see through it to find out what happened inside. Yet, as the magic storm started to get nastier, they also knew that the battle was getting to the climax. The AoE spell not only had not stopped but the intensity and quantity were increasing by the second. They did not know those were all cast by Dark Dragon though.
Suddenly, after the fourth wave of AoE magic attacks, a few Tier 5 Elementalists finally were able to penetrate the magic storm using their Elemental Perception. Well, they did not have to do that though—the "Hurricane Hailstorm" was about to calm down too.
As the storm settled down, an utterly eerie scene appeared in front of everyone.
Dark Dragon was still hovering in the air but Netherspirit's Menace was directly below him. They were only a dozen meters from one another and both their barriers were still intact and undamaged.
Unbelievable!
It was such an intense battle. Both of them must have endured so much damage by now and yet not a scratch on their barrier? Did they reactivate their barriers after every exchange of blows?
Then, they noticed something else that was also very peculiar—Dark Dragon's pet, the Misty Beast, had disappeared.

The spectators' Elemental Perceptions were all activated again, detecting and viewing the battleground from every corner. Naturally, it was the same for the two combatants too. After re-activating their perceptions, they started hurling Wind Darts and Frost Arrows at one another.
This time though, Dark Dragon had locked onto his opponent. Thus, his attacks were not missed.
He saw how Netherspirit's Menace killed his pet right under his nose after he used every single one of his AoE Magic Scroll.
Fortunately, his Misty Beast did not die in vain. It was able to help stall his opponent until everyone's Elemental Perception was recovered. Dark Dragon was able to destroy his Darkfrost Shield in retaliation.
Yet, Dark Dragon's own shield was also shattered by Qin Ruo's attack—an attack that was even more powerful than the one he dished on him. His equipment was a full Legendary set, one that was much more powerful than Raziel's. It was so unthinkable that his attack's damage would lose to his opponent's.
The battle finally was coming to an end.
Both combatants did not evade attacks. Both combatants did not take more potions. Both combatants just hurled the most fatal magic attacks they had in their arsenals at one another.
Just like that. Direct hits on each other.
Until their last breaths.

Three huge Lycan Barrages let out long growls as they charged at their target after Qin Ruo's first wave of consecutive Frost Arrows. Even though he had taken out the Misty Beast, Qin Ruo did not lower his guard.
Indeed, his HP was now over three thousand. However, Dark Dragon probably had the same amount of HP too. This Dark Dragon had advanced to Tier 5 a long time ago. Naturally, he must have acquired several Legendary equipment throughout his gaming career.
However, his gears' advantage was not all that overwhelming.
After Elemental Perception was recovered, Qin Ruo knew he must act quickly. Every single mistake would be his last if he were to make them. Thus, without hesitation he threw everything he had at his opponent—penetrating shields with Frost Arrows, hurling out powerful Lycan Barrages and also launching a salvo of Frost Bullets.
The Frost Bullets came right after the Lycan Barrages, all landed on Dark Dragon's barrier. However, he put a small disguise on them—to the spectators, it was a trio of huge swords made of ice hitting Dark Dragon's body.

Dark Dragon also was following the same train of thought as Qin Ruo.
Before he was able to destroy Netherspirit's Menace's Darkfrost Shield, he hurled out three golden shockwaves, made of wind elements, while activating his equipment's skill "Invisible Airblade". To activate magic attacks using magic scrolls, one must allow a second or two for it to be activated. However, if it was using the skill that was already enchanted on his equipment, it would only take a split second.
Every strike was about 500 to 600 points of damage. If one were to take out the damage dealt on Qin Ruo's shield and barrier, each attack that landed on him was about 400 points.
It was more than enough to kill an Elementalist with this series of combo attacks.
Yet, the next thing he saw three ice swords darting at him.

Suddenly, Dark Dragon vanished from under Qin Ruo's nose.
Teleport. He had finally used it…
Qin Ruo extended his perception and found Dark Dragon thirty meters away. He gulped down a potion and then spread out his Angelic Wings to stabilize himself in the air. Then, he waved his staff to direct his Lycan Barrages and ice swords back to the battleground while re-activating his Darkfrost Shield.
In an instant, Qin Ruo had now lost his edge in battle.
Even the veterans who were spectating at the side of the battleground were shocked to see how fast Dark Dragon could perform his teleport technique—"Demon Evasion".
"Good one!"
"Get him!"
A beam of excitement rushed through Eight Gods' bloodstream. He let out a roaring cheer to applaud Dark Dragon and also let out his repressed resentments.
Even Dark Dragon had recovered his confidence. He did it! He was able to land his attacks and regain the upper hand. After Dark Dragon warped out from his teleportation, he saw "Netherspirit's Menace" spread out his Angelic Wings and started to back away.
"Oh, now you're fleeing?"
Dark Dragon flapped his wings and gave chase after him. The speed of the Aeromancer was formidable indeed—he was able to shorten their distance from forty meters to thirty meters in just a few seconds. Dark Dragon smiled wryly as he flung out three "Kisses of Swans", chasing the fleeing Aquamancer. He was able to picture the moment of demise of the Aquamancer in front of him.
"Die!" Dark Dragon let out a loud roar.
Just as he thought he was winning, Dark Dragon suddenly heard Netherspirit's Menace's loud ominous laugh. Then, the Aquamancer sped up and dashed thirty meters ahead of him. His speed was even faster than that of the Aeromancers', the class that was renowned for their movement speed. Dark Dragon's attacks not only missed, but there was also a new layer of Darkfrost Shield on his opponent.
Swoosh!
As soon as his Darkfrost Shield was reactivated, Qin Ruo turned back to Dark Dragon, who was watching in disbelief, and waved Lycan Barrages and "ice swords" toward him from two different directions.
Dark Dragon's body was rammed off of his course and into the "swords" on the other side by the Lycan Barrages. When his viciously shredded body slumped to the ground, the battle was over.

The battle was over as the spectators were overwhelmed by the intensity of the last three seconds of the battle.
The pace and tide of the battle shifted twice in that last three seconds. Both Dark Dragon and Netherspirit's Menace were checkmated by their opponents. Yet, they both were able to pull themselves out of the gutter in the last instant. The spectators' hearts were beating so hard that they thought they were getting a cardiac arrest.
Even Remorseless Warrior was thrilled to watch the battle.
This battle was a great performance, unlike the one-shot battle with Raziel. This time the spectators were able to watch both sides exchanging and countering blows. The displayed combat techniques and strategies were brilliant. Every single move was fatal making every mistake a grave one.
"Phew…"
Remorseless Warrior was satisfied and relieved to have not missed such an exciting duel.
"Dark Dragon has lost. But he has lost fair and square."
The spectators around him nodded in agreement. Dark Dragon was not able to defeat Netherspirit's Menace when he had the upper hand and then got cornered by the latter. It was obvious that Netherspirit's Menace was stronger.
"If he summons his pet, who knows how much stronger he'll get."
"It's no wonder that this kid was able to flash out two Divinity Crystals. Even though he did not seem any stronger than Winter Demon, his strength was more than enough to take out an Ultimate Boss… tsk tsk, Fallen Angels sure know how to recruit these overpowered monsters!"

The Great Formation of the royal palace had been activated. It bore down on the old plum garden like a tangible mountain.
A gust of violent wind rose up on the street outside the old plum garden. The owners of the chess stalls fled in all directions in terror; they had no idea what had just happened.
Standing by the lake, Liu Shisui gazed at the old nunnery hall on the other side of the bridge. His whole body was trembling slightly, and both of his feet sank deep into the ground.
The Lone Sword left his wrist and charged into the nunnery hall after turning into a flash of silvery light; but the sword didn't cut communication with him. Liu Shisui could still sense what the Lone Sword was doing and knew it was the Sword Formation of Slaying Fairies deployed by his Young Master back then. However, whom did Gu Qing and Ping Yongjia attempt to kill?
Thinking of all this, Liu Shisui took a step onto the bridge while folding his arms in front of his face.

A recitation of Buddhist script was heard outside the old plum garden. Countless seemingly real flower petals appeared in the sky, among which there was a bright light ray.
The light ray was actually composed of dozens of smaller light rays, which ensnared the Dark Phoenix inside it like a cage.
The Dark Phoenix cried in anger, and attempted to break out of the light rays. After a few sizzling sounds, the green smoke came out from his colorful feathers. The Dark Phoenix felt an excruciating pain.
But the pain still couldn't stop him from trying to break out.
The Dark Phoenix bumped into the light rays relentlessly while crying out fervently.

The noises caused by his bumping into the light rays could be heard throughout Zhaoge City. The residents perceived the horrifying tremors in the sky and ran out of their houses in terror. When they saw a huge bird charging back and forth in the light ray, they couldn't help but let out astonished screams.
Those people outside the old plum garden had fled a while ago. The chessboards were all on the ground, broken into several parts, and the chess pieces were scattered everywhere on the ground.
The Young Zen Master stood among the black and white Go pieces with bare feet. One of his feet stepped on the "King" chess piece while aiming a light mirror at the sky in his right hand.
The surface of the light mirror had exceedingly complex marks and was carved, with many scripts on it. The mirror was growing brighter while shooting innumerable light rays into the sky.
As the Dark Phoenix was bumping into the light ray madly, the light mirror changed its magnitude of brightness. "It takes quite a bit of effort just to take care of you; now I also have to look after your kids. Why?" complained the Young Zen Master helplessly, his face a bit pale.

The Dark Phoenix was trapped by the Young Zen Master's light mirror in the sky. Liu Shisui knew what he needed to do next. He thrust his fists toward the ground without hesitation. As two demonic flames of black and red colors rose up, he traveled under the ground and soon arrived at a spot west of the city.
The Great Grandmaster of the Mysterious Dark Sect was drinking wine in a farewell pavilion there. His left hand held a small ceramic wine cup with greenish liquid rippling slightly in it, and his right hand played with the round Retrieved Heavenly Orb. He was truly enjoying himself.
As the great grandmaster of a deviant sect, it was inconvenient getting to Zhaoge City, and so for the sake of safety, he had been waiting outside the city that day.
The Center Sect wouldn't get involved in the event, and the Green Mountain Sect was having an important matter to take care of. As such, no powerful figure in the Cultivation circle was here that day. The Immortal Taiping, the Dark Phoenix and he were powerful enough to vanquish Zhaoge City; so there was nothing to worry about.
There was a small river not far from the pavilion. The water in the river had suddenly been stirred as Liu Shisui jumped out from the river and landed on the bank. The Great Grandmaster of the Mysterious Dark Sect found the person coming out from the river was very young though his Cultivation state was extraordinary, feeling astounded. And yet, he was not concerned. He put down the wine cup in his left hand, and swept his right palm casually in an effort to strike Liu Shisui to death.
A gust of violent wind kicked up, and the pavilion collapsed, the sunlight growing dimmer. A dark palm-print as large as a Buddhist hall sprang up in the sky and bore down on Liu Shisui's head.
Liu Shisui had prepared for the fight before he came to the west of the city. He didn't use the sword style of the Green Mountain Sect, nor the Buddhist methods of the Fruit Formation Temple, nor the secret Bloody Demonic methods. All he employed was the upright energy of the One-Cottage House, whipping out the Guard-City Pen.
Whoosh!!!
An bright rainbow came out from the water beads like a reversed waterfall and headed toward the huge black palm, like a gust of gentle wind blowing over the woods or a piece of paper used by a mischievous boy to fan the air.
The huge black palm broke into pieces instantly, and the rainbow drawn by the Guard-City Pen disappeared after breaking apart, though the violent wind was still whistling.
Liu Shisui flew backwards like a kite with its string snapped off, heading toward Zhaoge City a few miles away.
Some moments later, he bumped into the city wall with a thud. It seemed that he hadn't sustained any serious wound. However, the Great Grandmaster of the Mysterious Dark Sect was a very formidable swordsman. His sweeping palm looked casual, but it contained tremendous lethal energy. The damaging effect of his sweeping palm was not over yet. The invisible force traveled with the wind and attacked Liu Shisui continuously.
The willow tree on the city wall became murkier, but the green color of the leaves grew richer.
A figure dashed out from amid the willow tree and grabbed Liu Shisui's left arm. They leapt one hundred feet away from the spot before the invisible palm landed there.
Boom!!!
A deep palm print appeared on the city wall though the Great Formation of the royal palace was activated and the stones in the city wall were as strong as the gold. The surface layer of the stone on the city wall, the length of one hundred feet, had turned into powder. If this sweeping palm had landed on Liu Shisui, he would have been severely wounded even if he hadn't immediately died.
"I don't believe that you're not dead yet."
The Great Grandmaster of the Mysterious Dark Sect felt surprised. Glancing at the Retrieved Heavenly Orb in his right hand and thinking of the task requested by the Immortal, he swallowed the orb into his stomach before striding to the city wall.
The person who had come out from amid the willow tree had his conical hat torn to shreds by the wind created by the sweeping palm, exposing his green face.
"You're truly a filial descendant…" the Great Grandmaster of the Mysterious Dark Sect teased with a smile.
Su Ziye flashed a modest grin at him as he said, "The Great Grandmaster is really awesome. Please let me live."
With a sneer, two white demonic flames came out from the nostrils of the Great Grandmaster of the Mysterious Dark Sect, shooting at Liu Shisui and Su Ziye like arrows.
Su Ziye let out a weird cry before he turned around and fled.
Liu Shisui took out a fan from his sleeve and waved it at the white demonic flame.
A gust of strong wind whipped up, shattering the branches of the willow tree. Blown by the wind, the demonic flame had slowed its pace.
In the next moment, another rainbow formed, heading toward the Great Grandmaster of the Mysterious Dark Sect after breaking through the demonic flame.
The Great Grandmaster of the Mysterious Dark Sect swept his palm with a grave expression on his face and knocked the rainbow into pieces. "Hey, little boy. Your Cultivation state is not too bad, but how come you have so many magic treasures?" he exclaimed.
Liu Shisui remained silent. He was recuperating in secret, as he was preparing to strike with his Guard-City Pen again.
After having cultivated for one hundred more years, his honest and upright energy had grown purer and stronger. He was not the same person who would have his zhenyuan exhausted after one strike.
Seeing a white hair suddenly drifting down in front of his eyes, the Great Grandmaster of the Mysterious Dark Sect yelled angrily while running his hand over the sparse hair on his head, "Go to hell!"
As the Great Grandmaster of the Mysterious Dark Sect yelled, dozens of hairs on his head stood erect like thorns. A gloomy and brutal energy emerged from inside his clothing and turned into many ghost flames after it met the vapor in the air, heading toward Liu Shisui fiercely.
In front of each ghost flame was a white skeleton face, looking extremely horrific. This was the magic of Swallowing Bones by Ten-Thousand Souls of the Mysterious Dark Sect, which was lost for a great many years.
Without hesitation, Liu Shisui struck out the Guard-City Pen again. If it were the upright energy exuded by the Guard-City Pen, the force would not enough to block the ghost flames in such an amount. The unexpected part was that the straight mark drawn by the Guard-City Pen was a sword formation deployed in front of the city wall of Zhaoge City.
He had employed the Inherited Heaven Sword style through the Guard-City Pen.
Seeing this, the Great Grandmaster of the Mysterious Dark Sect commented with a slightly changed look, "Pretty good."
No matter how good his sword work was, it was still not good enough.
Regardless of how talented Liu Shisui was and how many special magic treasures he had at his disposal and how many magic methods from different sects he had learned, he was still not a match for this great grandmaster of the deviant sects.
It didn't take long before the Inherited Heaven Sword Formation drawn by the Guard-City Pen was on the verge of collapsing. The wailing of ghosts could be heard in front of the city wall, and there was a change of sentiment in heaven and earth.
Watching the approaching horrific white skeleton faces, Liu Shisui grew paler on his face. It was because he had used too much of his zhenyuan rather than feeling scared.

Su Ziye cried irately before he came back to the front of the city wall.

Su Ziye grunted once as an eerie glow showed on his green face. He opened his mouth and tried to devour those ghost flames, as though he had suddenly become a frightful devil.
In a few moments, he had swallowed dozens of ghost flames.
"Not bad. You're indeed the hope of our sect's revival."
The Great Grandmaster of the Mysterious Dark Sect laughed while waving his sleeve softly. If those thorn-like hairs on his head were ignored, he looked like a fairy man at the moment.
The ghost flames filling the sky grew more formidable after he waved the sleeve. Liu Shisui and Su Ziye were on the brink of being consumed by the flames.
"Release your fire," said Liu Shisui suddenly.
