Time Cross Academy was one of the greatest schools that travel in the time rift. It opens once every five years and every supernatural creature or magician wants to send their children to study in it. The list of applications was long even though the entry criteria were stringent. Time Cross Academy's principal was a fearsome woman, as the archmage of the time rift who held power over an entire academy that didn't get destroyed in a dimension crack, nobody wanted to offend her.

On top of that, Time Cross Academy was known for one other thing apart from its superior education. For clans and countries who are looking for potential marriage partners for their children, it was the perfect place to be. Testimonials have said that while the methods were weird, the results were fantastic. 10/10 would recommend sending their children there to find a potential mate if the family has no problems against receiving a male bride or offering a male bride. Amanda Lucifer guarantees happiness in every couple that leaves her academy if it was fated.

The second gender was a thing that nobody truly understood. Amanda Lucifer always sends a potion to be drunk by the student applying to go to her academy. There would always be an explanation note defining what the second gender was and how the second gender worked.

When Soubi's father heard about the academy's application deadline, he quickly submitted the details of his only son and paid the fees. The clan head of the fox demon also force-fed his only son the mysterious potion without questions and Soubi cursed his father in his head. The potion was vile and he didn't want to be sent away for five years to an all-male school to find a male bride. Yet, he wasn't given a choice. Being born in the snow fox clan, Soubi was the only male heir. All his other older sisters were married to mortals or wandering around seducing them. The powers of a kitsune fox can only be passed down from male clan heads to their sons. Soubi resented his fate.

After drinking the potion and resigning to fate, Soubi packed his things with a heavy heart. He tried his best not to cry and tried to recall what he learned about the Academy.

Time Cross Academy only accepted males and they must be of legal marriageable age. Once they enter the Academy, they must take the second gender test regularly to confirm their second gender identities. There is no leaving the Academy until five years is up once they enter simply because the rift portal will only open for three days once every five years. Amanda Lucifer's words were absolute in the Academy and if she arranges a marriage for two students in the Academy, they must sign the marriage certificate with the principal as the witness to be sent back home to their parents. Sex was encouraged during mating season but safe practices must be enforced. Pregnancy was not possible in the Academy without consent from the clans of both students, for clans who wanted heirs early and consent to it, baby-making room facilities were available in the Academy and there were very capable medical staff at the campus in case of labour.

The more Soubi read it, the less sense everything made. Was his father really sending him to that kind of school just because he said he wasn't interested in girls? how could this happen to him?!

The poor snow fox demon sobbed. It's not that he didn't like female foxes. It's just that the female fox demon candidates in his omiai were too scary. His father didn't know their true nature and Soubi didn't want to get devoured. His father was already in his eight-hundreds so the man was anxious to get his young son to settle down and produce grandbabies. However, the old man kept matching his seventeen-year-old son with vixens who were at least two hundred years older than him. The legal age for sex was eighteen and the moment Soubi turned eighteen, his father said that he was sending him to the Academy for five years out of desperation. How was this fair?

Soubi cried bitter tears that night even after packing his things. He didn't want to get eaten by scary old vixens who looked at him like he was fresh meat. Then again, he didn't want a male bride! Why couldn't his father understand that he was still young? Also, his sisters were being very rude. They started betting if Soubi would take home a male bride or bring home a husband. Poor Soubi could only swallow bitter tears of frustration as there was nothing he could do to defy his fate. His father had ordered his personal attendant and guard to follow him to school so there was nowhere to escape. Kenma was a great pal to hang out with and he had taken care of Sobi ever since he was a child. However, the bodyguard was a stiff woodblock sometimes and Soubi just knew that he would be frustrated to no end with his guard sticking to him like a shadow.

"Whatever, I'm going to sleep!" Soubi decided and shut his eyes before drifting to lalaland without difficulties. Thinking always made him sleepy.

The next morning, Soubi ate quickly without tasting the food as he chewed. He was too nervous about attending the mysterious school to think about anything else. His father babbled on excitedly and bawled when they had to leave. Kenma carried Soubi's bag as the fox heir waved goodbye to his family. They travelled by cloud and arrived at the meeting point ten minutes early. The Academy's rift portal had yet to open so many people gathered around to socialise but Soubi decided to stick to himself. He touched the collar hidden beneath his yukata and swallowed. There were many people and the chances of meeting his arch-nemesis who was also attending the school should be very low.

Soubi frowned at the thought of his bitter rival. Sei Kurohebi was a black snake demon and the youngest son of the black snake clan. Ever since they were young, the man had always beaten him in all their games and bullied him to no end. Sei was a sick person who enjoyed making him cry. He always stole Soubi's toys and even made Soubi's playmates like him more, leaving the poor fox lonely throughout his childhood. If it wasn't for the good relationship his father had with the clan head of the black snake demons, Soubi wouldn't even want to have anything to do with the prick!

"What are you thinking about?" Kenma asked. Soubi had a wistful expression and if the caretaker was right, the young fox must be thinking of his childhood friend again. No matter how Soubi claims to dislike or hate Sei, he never really did anything to push the black snake away.

"Are you thinking about young master Sei again?" he asked and instantly Soubi's face turned red.

"What? No! Are you crazy? Why would anyone think about that bastard? Besides, it would be better if I didn't meet him at all in the academy. He must have told his father to enroll him when he heard that my father submitted my application without me knowing. The sick bastard must be mocking me..."

Kenma was thoughtful and chose to refrain from saying anything. The truth was very different from what his young master thought. As usual, Soubi was a very dense fox and different from most foxes who were manipulative by nature. It could be because of his age or due to the fact that Soubi had been pampered from a very young age but the snow fox was very innocent even for an eighteen-year-old. His view of the world was still pure despite knowing about the crafty ways of demons. Soubi made everybody worry about him but because he was so cute, they also couldn't help but bully him sometimes to show their affection.

Soubi hated it. He tried very hard to be masculine but was only as tall as Kenma's shoulder. He couldn't bulk up and had a figure prettier than most girls. The one thing that the snow fox demon excelled in was the shrine dance. As the successor of the snow fox clan, he had to learn to do the spiritual dance to bring prosperity to the clan and grant the prayers they received from their devotees. Usually, the bride of the fox clan who shared the mating bond with the clan head should perform the ritual but since Soubi's mother passed away many years ago, there was only Soubi and his old father who could do it. Being the filial son, Soubi offered to take up the responsibility.

Kenma smiled slightly. The first time Soubi performed the spiritual dance, everyone was mesmerised by his beauty but no one more so than Sei. It was an open secret to everyone that the youngest son of the black snake clan fancied Soubi. Still, as the caretaker and bodyguard, Kenma would only watch as their love story unfolded. Ordinarily, it would take about a hundred years for Soubi to even realise that Sei liked him and maybe two hundred more to eventually settle down with the black snake. However, Amanda Lucifer was a very capable woman and a master of tying the red string. The clan heads of the Kitsune and Kurohebi clans decided to send both their foolish sons to the Academy in hopes of getting grandbabies quicker but Kenma would keep that information to himself.

The portal appeared and excited cheers could be heard. Soubi watched the purple portal grow in size and shivered. Once he stepped into that place, there was no escape for five years. Could he survive?

"Come on, young master. Let's go. It's not good to be tardy on the first day, we must make a good first impression."

With a heavy and reluctant sigh, Soubi got up and dragged his feet over to the portal, not wanting to go and hating to squeeze with the thrums of excited students.

She oversees the best kind of education for her students who are future heirs to their clans or countries as the principal but more importantly, Amanda has a job to keep the population growing. Zoro aims at the center of them. In fifteen seconds, he shoots his arrow to the ground and he immediately signaling others to moves from their spot.


Psshhhhhh...


Sedative gas starts to spread out once the edge of the arrow touches the ground. The gas produces a white gas which makes all the animal turn to sleep immediately.


As all of them start jumping from one branch to another, they run a bit far from the battlefield. Even though they're quite far, there's still weak animal who try to seek a chance to get the extract from them.


Shon uses his abilities to try and make a safe path for them to at least reach at one of their safe houses.


Ralph already set the location on their night vision equipment, so they just follow the way.


They have been running for almost four hours after the battle. Finally, they arrive at the 'Location'.


It has a barrier that can't reveal the real place inside it. Once Ralph was there, the barrier suddenly opens it by itself, acknowledging Ralph through facial recognition.


"Hurry up, before the animal breaks the barrier." He said slowly. He looks exhausted and not so well. Maybe because of the effect after being attack by the Phyton earlier.


All of them nods and went inside the barrier.


Athena, Zoro, and Rachael were amazed by the looks at the place. There is a home inside the barrier. A very beautiful home. They have a pond, a garden, and even a spacious lawn.


"Where are we?" Athena asks curiously.


"Well, welcome to my home," Ralph said and he tries to slowly walk to the house's door.


"Baby..I'm home." He said with a bit hoarse voice, trying to endure the pain inside his body.


Shon also looks very tired.


One minute passed, suddenly the door is opened by one woman with a curly long hair and she had a quite beautiful face.


"Ralph!" She almost shrieks out when she saw Ralph was injured.


"Hey, honey.." He tries to smile even though it's a bit difficult to do that.


She then turns to look at all of them. "It's okay..they're not a threat." He said to try to calm her.


"Come in" She invited all of them inside the house.


She hurriedly brings Ralph to one of her room. Inside her house, there is a lab completely equipped with the tools and medicine. The house is not too big, but it's quite comfortable.


"Follow me," Renee said to Rachael which is still supporting Shon's body. 


Rachael nods her head and follows Renee to the lab. She helps to lay down Shon on the bed.


"Is he alright?" She asked. Zoro and Athena also follow them from behind.


"He will." Renee took out one syringe from the drawer with Shon's name on it.


She went to him and look at him a bit. "Seems you're getting better at handling your pain huh?"


Shon just smirks mockingly to her. "Hmm. Who do you think the one who helps them back there?"


"Don't be so cocky." She smiles and injects him with the syringe.


"Now, sleep." she stands up and went to Ralph after that.


"Now, what about you? What happen to you?" She demands an explanation.


"I..just got twisted by the Phyton." he still manages to talks.


"Huh? Stupid Phyton." She complaining and start to press the button on the bedside, one tunnel-like machine start to covering the bed and scan Ralph body through it.


She taps on the screen for the checking. 


"Hmm...You got a few bone fracture. Luckily it's not that bad. It'll take at least three hours to recover back your fracture."


"Hmm. Then I'll just take a nap here." Ralph said through the machine.


"Okay." She gives him a nod and then she turned to look at another three people which is stranger to her.


"About the three of you…I'll show you the guest room. Sleep for a while before you guys start your mission again." She leads them to the bedroom.


Athena and Rachael share a room, while Zoro stayed at another room. They rested and sleep for a few hours.

Aurora returns to home after sending Athena and others at the Lee air based behind the mansion area.


"Aur, I need to talk to you for a bit." Richard walks to her with her mother, Hai Rin.


"Huh? About what?" She turns and stops her pace.


"About your Omiai."


"Eh? I thought it just a bluffing that you create." She frowned for a bit.


"When did I bluff about that?" Richard asks her back.


"Then, is it really a real Omiai that I need to attend?" 


Richard and Hai Rin both nods their head.


"Yes, the one that I choose is quite handsome and par with you and our status. Give it a try okay?" Richard said gently to her.


Hai Rin pats her daughter's shoulder. "Try to find what you really really want. Try something new, it would not harming you anyway for trying."


"But…"


"Just give it a try first." Hai Rin said again and that make Aurora nods.


"Fine.." she replies to both of them before she went to her room after that.


After she went inside, her father sends her the details of the man that is her Omiai partner for today.


"Ke MingQu, 32 years old. President of Ke corporation. Hmm..really in par with our status." she mumbles staring at her phone before she slides the screen to the side.


"Start at 10 am and need to finish at 10 pm? Wow, I don't know I need to follow the schedule for the Omiai.." She then turns to look at the clock.


It is now just 8 am in the morning. She sighs. She went to her dressing room and finds a suitable dress for the date today.


"Urm…I think this dress is quite okay.." She looks at the light purple dress.


After finish with the selection, she went to the bathroom and took a bath.


Put on the makeup and do her hair, she turns around for a few times in front of the mirror.


"Hmm..not bad. I am really is beautiful.."


'But why this face before couldn't make him fall for me?'


Brush off the thought, she immediately wears the dress and gets ready to go to Omiai.

When she went downstairs,


There is a man with casual clothes yet very handsome standing at the there with her father like they were talking about something.


He turns to look at her and smiles to her.


'Charming.' Her first impression of him when seeing him smiling.


"Aur, this is Mr. Ke. Mr. Ke, this is my daughter. I hope you treat her well during this Omiai." Richard said firmly while looking at Ke MingQu.


Ke MingQu nods his head.


"Yes, Sir."


He then turns to look at Aurora and greet her politely before he asks.


"Shall we go Ms. Aurora?"


Aurora nods her head. She was quite amazed by this person's charm. He really is a good-looking man with a polite attitude.


"Yes."


She then turns to her dad and kisses him on the cheek. "I'll be going now."


"Hm, be careful."

“Adrian already married, I had only two daughter left. One already run away, so the only choice I have is..” He turn to look at Athena again.


Athena know what his father meant, so she bit her bottom of lips.


‘Relax..it just for helping my family. Nothing could go wrong from doing a good deed.’ she try to calm her heartbeat right now.


Athena finally nod. “I’m ready dad.” 


“One side is settle, then the problem is..where do I find the groom?” Richard finally let out his worries.

Amelia looked up and smiled, "with the care I received, I am feeling a lot better. Gabriel and his family are doing everything they can to accommodate me. Thank you for your concern." 
Gabriel bowed, "Since Nathaniel has all my assignments I will go and get thiem from him." He guided Amelia out of the room and walkers to the Student council room. He unlocked the door and inside was Nathaniel resting on the table. Gabriel walked up to the desk and slammed the paperstack in his arms on the table right next to Nathaniel's head. 
"What!?| He jumped up and the chair he was sitting in fell to the ground. He looked at the girl that was giggling at the door confused. "How can I help you? If you are looking fo rGabriel he is not in today." 
"I do believe that she is well aware of the fact that I am not in the office today. Nathaniel." Gabriel stood beside Nathaniel as he glanced up at him from her.
"Do you know how many females come here looking for you? So many want an omiai with you and it is ridiculous. When I tell them that you are not available they call me a liar. So what can I do for you?" Nathaniel was looking at Gabriel, ignoring the girl that was dressed up nicely.
"I do not care for other girls. This is Amelia, the girl that I fell in love with. I finally followed your advice and chatted with her. We are mutually in love. I want you to let her come here if she is feeling a little unwell." Gabriel held out his hand to her. 
Amelia walked closer and placed her hand in his. "This is a lovely room but what do you mean by me stopping here if I am feeling unwell?" 
"You can sleep here in the bedroom that is beyond that door. I will pass that office to you. You can run the student council and right not I can accept you as my treasurer. Nathaniel does everything else and will be able to show you the files for your job on Monday. I usually have to stay late so you and I will go home together." Gabriel handed her a key for the office. 
"Thank you," Amelia took the key and placed it in the kinchaku pouch. "Nathaniel, I am looking forward to working with you." 
Nathaniel watched the exchange and that was when it finally dawned on him. "You finally talked to the girl and the beauty in front of me is her? Congratulations to the both of you. I will come over on Sunday to celebrate." He pulled out a stack of papers and placed them down. "This is why you are here." 
"Thank you, I will take this and see you on Sunday. We have a few more things that we need to do today. Have a good day of classes." Gabriel placed his stack on her's and carried them out of the room.
"It was a pleasure to meet you. Chat again soon." She bowed towards him and then left the room. She skipped down the hallway and followed Gabriel back out to the carriage. He let her get in first then followed her in.
Once they were all settled. Gabriel had placed the papers up in the compartment and then sat down next to her. "Now, we are going to the hospital. It will not take long but I need to show Subaru the Medicine that he will be working on. I will demenstright it slowly and then leave you to work. Kazuki and my father will be there as well. So if you have any questions you can ask either one of them." It was a short ride to the hospital. Gabriel, Amelia, and Subaru all got out. Sara and Miyuki stayed with the sleeping children. 
Amelia smiled and looked at the hospital. "This is one oif the first times that I have come to the hospital and not needed to see a doctor. It is very unusual for me to show up here otherwise." 
Subaru looked at the big buildings and walked up the steps looking at the building in awe. "I knew that it was a big hospital but wow."   
Gabriel leads Amelia up the steps and makes sure that she is doing okay. About half way up up he scoops her up and walks up the rest of the stairs carrying her. "Sorry, but I cannot allow you to struggle on your own." He lets her down and looks at Subaru, "Yes, well… this is my workplace so I am used to it. I guess for you this would be unheard of." 
"Yes, I am very shocked. Although, I know that you worked at a hospital. Thank you for teaching a small medicine man like myself." Subaru bowed to Gabriel.
"Don't thank me yet. You are going to be cursing me soon enough." Gabriel held the door open and closed it once they were all in and he leads them to the gift shop.
Aki jumps up and walks straight to Gabriel. "What is going on? Kazuki suddenly showed up with Sensei this morning and there has been nothing but gossip that you will not be taking over anymore." 
"That is because I never wanted to take over everything and that was always supposed to be Kazuki's job. I will continue to make medicines. Aki, this is Subaru. He is an apprentice that I picked up when I was herb hunting. He is a medicine man that wishes to increase his speed. "Is there anything that we are out of?" Gabriel introduces the two. 
"Well then this will all work out. Fujiwara san is in there sorting out the medicines for the day. Maybe you can lend a hand real quick. I'm low on sleeping aids the most." Aki bowed to Syubaru and Amelia. 
"It is good to see you again, Aki. Thank you for everything. My father shall be joining you here tomorrow after we finish what needs to be done." Amelia bowed back. 


Finding true love is not an easy thing. Especially when your parents ask you to go to marriage interviews. You worry constantly and need to take Daily vitamins to be able to help your weak body. This is what Amelia's life is like. She dreams of falling in love, maybe setting her eyes on someone and knowing that he was the one. 

Next in line to take over the Hospital Gabriel is stuck going to arranged meetings in his spare time but honestly what spare time does an eighteen-year old medical student really have? He dreams of the one that is always matching his scores and his eyes are drawn to her even if she doesn’t notice him. Will fate allow him to be with her or will his parents tie him down with someone else. 

How will their love story pan out? Will they be forced to marry someone that they do not care for or will their parents' cave and let them fall in love and live in bliss?

A glimpse of the story ahead: 

Amelia walked through the field that was full of flowers smiling and was chasing a child that was no more than two years of age. The child was giggling. The child had stopped and picked a lily. He turned and ran back to Amelia. "Mama! Flower for you!" The little boy handed the flower over and smiled. 

"My, what a good boy you are. Thank you for your gift." Amelia took the flower and placed it in her hair. 

Gabriel walked over carrying a girl that was also two years old. "Mama!" The little girl started to squirm in Gabriel's arms trying to get to Amelia. 

Gabriel laughs happily and lets the girl down then watches her run to Amelia. He walks over and kisses Amelia on the cheek. "I can not believe that we had two beautiful children. Your illness hasn't spiked back up has it, my angel?"

Amelia smiled up at him sweetly. "No, not as of late." She rests her hand on her belly and smiles up at Gabriel. "But I do not think that our twins will mind having another sibling, What do you think my love?" 

Gabriel's eyes light up. He picks her up and spins her around. "When did you find out and how did I not know about it??" 

"Just yesterday. Kazuki is the one that diagnosed me. I never thought that I would be strong enough for this and yet here we are." Once her feet are on the ground she hugs Gabriel, rubs her stomach then bends down and hugs the two children on the ground. "Are you two ready to be a big brother and big sister?" 

"Mama has a baby growing in her tummy?" The little girl looks up and tilts her head to the side. 

Gabriel happily bent down and kissed both children on the head. "Don't worry. You will always be our babies too."

 Rin asks Aria the same question once again when she doesn’t get any response, “Why you have a picture of you and Ryouhei kissing in your phone?” 

 

 “Could you promise me that you won’t freak out and go crazy if I tell the truth?” Aria wants confirmation before she tells her best friend on what happen. Rin slowly nods to give the reply and she opens her mouth to tell what happen. 

 

Flashback~ 

 

 Aria begins panic after get phone call from Kai few minutes ago. She knows that she’s in a big trouble and really need a place to hide. She already tries to knock Rin’s door but no reply that make she has to ask help from Ryouhei. Luckily, that guy at home and really surprise to see her in panic. 

 

 He let her into the house before asks, “What happen to you?” 

 

 “My brother will come here and he will bring me to somewhere for omiai. Just let me hide here until my brother give up searching for me.” Plead Aria. 

 

 Ryouhei says, “I thought you would like that since you will wear your beloved kimono.” 

 

 “I admit the part that I like to wear kimono but I don’t want to wear that just to impress someone. My mom really noisy these days; keeps asking me when I will bring my lover to meet her when I don’t have time for that.” say Aria before slump to the couch. 

 

 “It was you who never want to go any goukon. I heard from workers that you always decline invitation to that.” Ryouhei say that without change his focus from the TV. 

 

 Aria rest her head on the couch and says, “Mou, I don’t want to do that because it just too troublesome. I already busy with many things right now. No guy would look at me since I’m not that pretty.” 

 

 “You only say that but you never realize how beauty that you already become. Somehow, I feel really happy that you have no interest in things like that. You should know how hurt my heart when I see photos of you with your guy classmates that you upload at SNS.” Say Ryouhei. The TV show already long forgotten as he turns to face her and she does the same when feels the stare on her. 

 

 Aria wonders why he would say something like that since the guy that she knows always playful unless when come to cooking. The tension make her mouth can only mutter, “Why?” 

 

 It’s a weird since that guy never say anything about those pictures and she never address any of that to him. That is the weird period of their time where none of them talk with each other due to him just getting famous and there are too many rumours flying around and she only in contact with Rin. 

 

 Ryouhei confidently says, “It’s hard to admit that I jealous over those guys but weirdly, I feel happy because I’m sure no one ever did this to you.” He gently pulls her towards him to lock their lips together. She tries to break it but he holds her at waist without let her to move an inches. 

 

 He breaks the kiss and smirk appears on his face when Aria could only slump on his chest and he says, “You should tell your mom that you won’t need any omiai because you’re my girl right now. I will make sure no one would snatch you away from me.” 

 

End of flashback~ 

 

 “EH?! That totally put your mom on silent?” Rin really surprise to hear that as she couldn’t believe that lady that she believe is someone that quite stubborn. 

 

 “Yeah and she even want to announce to everyone but lucky to the fact that Ryo-chan’s an idol, she’s willing to keep it low. I’m sure you also the same, right?” Aria bluntly says before continues, “You and Hongou-san also has something, right?” 

 

 Rin really surprise and begin think that girl read her mind while asks, “What make you say that?” 

 

 Aria just make her guess, “If you and him just friend, it would be okay if he seated near us but it feel weird when his seat too far from us. I asked Ryo-chan about that but he said he know nothing.” 

 

 Rin suddenly become anxious as she afraid that childhood friend of their may do something because of his somehow protective when come to them and ask, “He didn’t suspect anything?” 

 

 “Hm… I don’t think he remember it since his mind only think what to do after we watch you on stage.” Say Aria since that topic just dies like that and both of them completely forget to bring it up again. 

 

 Both of them decide to finish up their meal and return home. Aria happily take control of the steering and says, “It always good to get good harvest~!” 

 

 “Why don’t you just ask Ryouhei to buy things for you? I’m sure he would happy to do that as I read on magazine that he wants to buy things for his lover.” Say Rin. It’s not like she read that by accident but there are few girls in her theatrical troupe admire him. 

 

 Aria thinks of something and says that get her back, “If I could go out openly with Ryo-chan, you also can do the same.” That reply makes both of them burst out loud laugh since it is true; three people out of four is someone that act in front of thousands of people.

 When reach home, they bump way with Keitarou and Ryouhei who happen just arrive there. Ryouhei become the first one who greets them, “Yo! You girls bought a lot!” 

 

 “Of course we bought a lot since it’s not easy to go out shopping and it really fun to do it with someone.” Say Aria happily. She give a bag to him, “This is for you!” 

 

 “Wah! Thank you!” Ryouhei happily when receive it. 

 

 Rin give something to Keitarou and says in monotone, “This is for you. I think you will like it.” 

 

 Keitarou thanks her and Aria interrupt, “Hongou-san, you should see how hard she think just to buy something special for you!” 

 

 That make Rin nudge Aria at the waist that make that girl let out tiny ‘ouch’ and she does the same to her. Even Rin has no emotion on her face, she’s actually a bit shy as she rarely buy something on wimp for anyone else except her female childhood friend. 

 

 Keitarou exchange looks with Rin and somehow understands about what happen while Ryouhei look too confuse with the situation, “Hey, what happen here?” 

 

 Aria wants to explain on what happen but Ryouhei comes out with an idea, “How about you girls also join us at my home? We could have drink and talk about that since it may dangerous out here.” 

 

 The girls agree with that but they have to return to their house to put their things away and change their clothes. After few minutes, the girls reach at Ryouhei’s home and join the guys. Aria pulls Ryouhei’s hand to tell him, “Ne, ne, you want to know something? Rin-chan and Hongou-san is a thing right now.” 

 

 Ryouhei almost choke his drink when hear that and want to scream but it only muffle out because Aria cover his mouth in reflex. Keitarou casually says while try his best ignoring the other guy, “You don’t have to be too formal with me. Just call me by my name since I will do the same.” 

 

 “Oh.. Okay!” Reply Aria before she takes off her hand on Ryouhei as she tries to explain to him, “Rin-chan and I already know about each other’s lover. It’s all thanks to you who keep insist to keep that picture in my phone.” 

 

 “That is just precaution in case your mom doesn’t want to believe you.” Say Ryouhei playfully that make Aria glare him with dark intention before pinch both of his cheeks tightly. 

 

 She sings, “You’re juuuuuuuuuuuuuust lucky that I’m only a noooooooooooooormal person~! You don’t need to wooorrryyy about everything~!” 

 

 “Ah~! She already drunk!” say Rin when notice the empty can in front of that girl. She explain to Keitarou, “She will only say like that when drunk and sometimes will begin do weird moves.” 

 

 They only watch on Ryouhei has to hug her just to ensure she will stay at one place. Keitarou says, “It looks like that all of us will hold each other’s secret.” 

 

 Ryouhei says, “Yeah, we really need to hide her since we already promise to protect her.” He slowly feels the girl in his arms not try to resist him anymore that show she gradually fall asleep. 

 

 Keitarou says while watching the heart-warming scene, “Ryouhei really lucky to have such a great childhood friends.” 

 

 Ryouhei place that sleeping girl in his bedroom before retort, “Don’t say like that when you’re already couple with one of them.” 

 

 “I remember something… about our trip.” Ryouhei remember that. it just a casual trip since they have a few day off and think to go somewhere to relax. 

 

 “Yeah, I just thinking about make a bit changes since it will be more fun if our girls join us and we can enjoy moments as couple of lover.” Say Keitarou before he explains briefly about the trip to confused Rin. 

 

 Rin take sip of her beer before says, “You better choose date that all of us free if you really want us to join along.” 

 

 “We just happen choose timing that you girls also free since my initial plan not to let Aria-chan alone. I just need to search place for us to stay overnight.” Say Ryouhei but then, he remembers, “Ah! I know the best place for us to stay. Rin-chan, do you remember villa that Aria-chan’s family owned there.” 

 

 “That place? Do you think her parent will allow us to stay there?” Rin a bit worry about that idea since that girl’s family doesn’t really allow her to travel anywhere that too far from them and the place they want to go actually quite far. 

 

 Keitarou confidently says, “We could just let Ryouhei to do that and wait for the result.” 

 

 Ryouhei sling his arm at Keitarou’s shoulder and says, “Sometimes, you could come out with unexpectedly good idea. I will do that and I confirm it will be ok since her mom really admires me.”

 Few days later, Ryouhei and Aria decide to visit Aria’s parent to ask permission for their trip. Aria already heard about the trip while on the way to their destination. She says, “Wah, I suddenly feel really nervous even it is my own house.” 

 

 “I wonder when the last time I go there. Our moms really like to spend time together even after your family move to other house.” Say Ryouhei as he focuses on the road. They can’t use public transport since he knows Aria’s parent will go berserk if they know their daughter use it. 

 

 “I could remember the day we move where my mom act likes little kid who doesn’t want to go back home after spend time at playground…” Aria’s hand begin shaking again when think her parent won’t let her to join the trip. Her parent has been strict to her even she already move out from the house and she hasn’t return there for quite long. 

 

 Ryouhei take hold of her hand to give a light squeeze while continue driving and says, “Everything will be just fine. It already time for them to treat you like an adult.” 

 

 “They just want their last daughter still acting spoiled towards them.” Say Ryouhei. 

 

 When reach at the house, Mrs. Kuzuryu runs outside the house and hugs both of them while saying, “I’m really happy to know my daughter already with someone that really great~!” 

 

 Both of them has to stand with that tight hug until Mr. Kuzuryu says, “You better release both of them or you will lose them in seconds.” 

 

 “Darling, you spoil the fun. I’m hugging them because I’m really happy to know my spoiled brat finally found someone that could handle her. I’m really worried if she like girl as she always with boys to talk about type of girl’s style that they like.” say Mrs. Kuzuryu. 

 

 After small argument between Aria’s mom and dad, they walk into the house and take seat on couch. They exchange greeting at living room and give souvenir that Ryouhei bought for them. Ryouhei tells them about his plan, “We’re planning to go out for trip and we’re thinking to use your villa…” 

 

 Mrs. Kuzuryu happily reply when hear about the trip, “Of course you could use that villa but make sure you don’t do anything weird on her.” 

 

 “I didn’t mean to scare you but I don’t care if you’re a popular idol or what. If you make my daughter pregnant, I will hunt you and skin you alive.” Mr. Kuzuryu says with gentle smile on his face but Ryouhei could feel death glare behind it that give chill to him. 

 

 Ryouhei literally froze that make Aria says with cold smile, “Tou-chan, if you skin him alive, you will lose your last daughter.” 

 

 “Oh no! My kawaii Aria-chan already change~!” cries Mr. Kuzuryu. 

 

 “I only use the same way you told Ryo-chan.” Say Aria as she takes sip of her tea and eat her share of sweets. They plan on to visit them only for few hours but then, they extend their stay until dinner since Mrs. Kuzuryu insists. 

 

 Before they leave, Mrs. Kuzuryu tells Ryouhei, “I hope you could take care of Aria-chan for us since her still childish.” 

 

 “I will promise you that I will take care of her as she really important for me.” Say Ryouhei.

Things are not always go the way we want but we can make the choice. Thats happen for three childhood friend that yearn the love but not among them?

For Aria, she only want to spend time with her two childhood friend but as they grow up, each of them has their own plan that force herself to make a choice. She learn that she need to waver between everything for her life. Will she get love while balance everything else that is important to her?

Meanwhile at W Tower, housing one of West City's premier corporation, a group of four other bachelors invaded a certain executive's office brazenly causing ruckus while one particular significant person was still busy signing off documents as tons of other pending papers were neatly stacked on top of his table. The man behind the desk was completely ignoring the commotion and could not care less with the irksome presence of the four guys who were chattering nonsense and nonstop as if they did not have any intention of leaving anytime soon. They even looked rather comfortable on their seats as if they were in some other place hanging out instead.

Moments passed and the noise around grew even louder. Liam felt his nerves twitching as his patience is wearing thin by the minute. He was already regretting the idea of granting his secretary permission to let these men enter his personal office without a previous appointment. 

Liam could no longer focus his attention back at work because of the sudden surge of migraine and hunger. He felt it was too early go home yet but he needed to find an excuse to leave the office and rid off these four men disrupting his working momentum.

He massaged his temples in frustration before finally being able to speak. 

"Get out all of you."

A low but frosty voice suddenly erupted inside the office rendering everybody around mute in an instant. They froze in their seats. All four of them felt the prominent chills in Liam's voice making them shiver in fear. 

One meek voice quickly recovered and countered, "C'mon Bro, we're just consoling this nomadic guy right here who is about to say goodbye from being a bachelor."

The three others shot Craig, the one who have just spoken, with a look that seems to praise his bravery for speaking against the almighty business tycoon.

With a blank expression, Liam replied, "Congratulations."

Silence.

Everybody was dumbfounded with Liam's cold but witty response. 

'Pfffttt ...' 

His cold and dispirited announcement made both Karl and Eric suddenly burst into laughter. 

While Paul, the person in question and to whom the supposed greeting was directed to, felt all the more terrible with the realization of the fact that he was really about to be married off to someone he doesn't even know. He gritted his teeth while shooting deathly glares towards the guys who were making fun of his sudden misfortune. He was absolutely against the marriage arrangement set-up by both his parents and that "ojou-sama's" parents. There was no family tradition dictating that he should abide with such cliche arrangement but what can he do? He does not possess enough power to influence his parents to reject the idea but he was currently buying himself enough time to avoid and delay the impending engagement between him and his noble and wealthy 'omiai' partner. 

'Damn!' He wasn't even japanese for goodness sake!

Paul looked like he aged since his parents broke the news of his arranged marriage with an old and loyal business partner from overseas.

Craig who was sitting beside Paul was patting his shoulder while stifling his own laughter to comfort his dear brother who was being bullied as of the moment. He was closest to Paul out of the rest so he was the first one to know about his circumstances. But he knew exactly that the man have no intention of getting married yet. Actually, Craig believed he have no plans of marrying at all. He knew for a fact that Paul was indeed a vagabond both literally and figuratively. The only heir to the country's leading airline company despised monotony the most. Paul gets bored so easily. He was always wandering around. Loitering around. But still a businessman at heart. It was just unfortunate that he was about to be forced to tie the knot with a woman he barely know at all. This was probably a calculated move by his parents as punishment for their son's wild behavior.

...

Craig: "It might not be bad at all you know. Auntie said she was a well-cultured woman, delicate, gentle, obedient and very good looking." He smirked with the thought. He saw the woman's picture once and he must give it to her. The woman was as beautiful as a precious doll. She was half american and half japanese, a good match for Paul who is purely American but a Filipino at heart. He was the most reserved out of all of them. This is probably why he was completely against the idea of becoming a husband. 

Karl: "Craig has a point. She's wife material. Why don't you give her a chance?" 

Eric: "Well, you have literally two options. Marriage or Disinheritance. It sounds too cliche but this is the truth you have to face. Aren't you glad your parents are permanently kicking you out of the house?"

Paul: "Shut it. You mama's boy." 

Eric: "Hmp! Atleast i have my mom to back me up everytime and she never forces me to do anything. She supports and respects my freedom." 

Karl: "What freedom? Quit bragging you player. Liam, how about you let out a few words to Auntie Clarisse. She only listens to you since she looked up to you the most." 

Another round of silence.

They all thought Liam was not interested with sharing his insights regarding Paul's upcoming 'marriage' but he suddenly casted a glance at Paul and spoke with a deadpan face.

"Best wishes."

Back at The Cube.

Laurice and Catherine had just arrived at the buffet restaurant inside the night club where the latter had a previous booking for their supposed dinner. 

They both chatted longer than expected and realized it was getting late already and that they were both getting hungry themselves, especially Laurice so they immediately went another floor down to what presumably is the most expensive restaurant in the entire building. 

An entire splurge of western and eastern cuisine were being offered by the restaurant alone. 

Many tables were already occupied when they've reached the place and Laurice felt her stomach grumbled when she smelled the sumptuous dishes waiting for her to guzzle.

She was about to leave her seat and head towards the chafing dishes when Catherine whispered.

"Hot guy alert. 3 o'clock." Catherine muttered under her breath. Her slightly opened lips did not move at all. She just darted right straight into Laurice's eyes when she spoke almost inaudibly. She have already spotted the man long before they sat on their assigned table. The gorgeous guy seemed like a mixed race. 

Laurice rolled her eyes and scoffed, "Give me a break." She was really about to pull up from her seat when Catherine spoke again. 

"It's a hybrid. Exactly your type." She teased. Her eyes were shining brightly but her lips were pursed as if she wasn't smiling at her at all but she knew better.

Laurice was rendered speechless. 

Her friend was unknowingly turning into an annoying matchmaker.

Laurice have no idea that the same man has long noticed the both of them the moment they step inside the restaurant together. Who wouldn't when they are undeniably a pair of natural beauties who looked like a breath of fresh air among a crowd of women who had the same tacky makeup, signature clothing, intense fragrance, and flamboyant behavior. They were unconsciously drawing every man's attention that eventually and evidently triggered the other women's jealousy and resentment.

It's been 3 years since I came to the Imperial University.
"Thank you all for gathering here."
Inside the hotel's large conference room are aristocrats with menacing appearances.
Among them is someone who has white hair in an all-back hairstyle and is displaying a relaxed attitude despite his young age.
This villain-like individual that can put people on a constant edge is Count [Francis Sera Ganne].
"Iya~ I'm really honored to be summoned by the Capital's star in the creation of a new faction."
He's smiling amicably, but no one knows what he's thinking inside.
It's a quality often found in villains.
Next to him, a muscular ossan with an eyepatch, or should I say Count [Jeriko Sera Goal], is laughing vigorously.
There are countless wounds all over his body.
With the current medical technology, they can be easily erased, but he has not done so, meaning that he wants to intimidate others with his wounds.
This person's face and countenance also scream villain.
"I never thought I'd be called by the young'un of the Banfield family!"
He throws a sarcastic remark towards me to probe me.
Despite what his large frame might suggest, he seems to be rather meticulous.
He might not be as bullish as he looks.
In the middle of all this, Baron Exner, who is like a middle-aged man, steps forward as a coordinator.
"Rather than that, is Mr. Liam serious about starting a new faction? Even we've heard rumors about His Highness Cleo's situation, you know?"
The prince farthest away from the throne.
It's no wonder that he's worried hearing my intention to support Cleo.

That evening, Linus came to visit Cleo.
The two of them were having a conversation about some unimportant matter in the reception room, but Linus grew impatient and went straight to the main point.
"Cleo, I have misjudged you."
"What do you mean by that?"
"I thought you would live a modest and stable life. For that reason, I have not made a move against you to this day."
"—Is that so."
Linus got up from the sofa.
"From today, don't expect to sleep peacefully."
This was no different from Linus declaring war on Cleo.
"You came over just to declare war on me? I see that you are quite confident, elder brother."
"Don't get cocky, brat."
Linus stopped bothering about putting up an appearance.
"Don't get conceited just because the kid from the Banfield family has decided to support you. Did you really think you are equal to equal to me now that there are a hundred aristocrats by your side?"
Noticing his brother's irritation, Cleo made a conjecture.
"It looks like you're very frustrated. Did something happen?"
Linus's eyes turned bloodshot, but Tia, who was standing behind Cleo, spoke up before he tried to do something.
"There are eyes here, Your Highness Linus."
Linus paused for a moment, straightened his back, and turned to leave the room.
"—You'll regret participating in the battle for the throne. You are henceforth my enemy."
Cleo leaned back on the sofa upon Linus's departure.
"We were enemies from the very beginning, elder brother."
Tia prepared tea for such a Cleo.
From her performance, Cleo came to realize how excellent Tia was.
His sister was also a high-ranking knight, but Tia was beyond that.
"Does Your Highness Cleo loathe His Highness Linus?"
He was troubled by Tia's question.
"It's not like I hate him in particular. It's just that we have our positions to uphold. If we had met under a different circumstance, we might have become friends instead."
If only they were not of royal descent. Even if they were, if only they were not in the position to fight for the throne.
However, it was useless.
There was no point in speculating on what could have been true.
Just as his lips had touched the drink prepared by Tia, Cecilia came into the room.
Her flaxen hair was straight and long unlike Lysithea's, emphasizing her femininity.
She was someone who was carefree and relaxed.
"Cleo-chan, brother Linus was furious. What happened?"
Cleo became anxious upon seeing Cecilia, his eldest sister.

A fierce battle was about to commence.
He wanted to do something about Cecilia, who wasn't suited for this sort of conflict.
"Nothing, sister. Also, Tia?"
"Yes?"
"Can I ask Count Banfield for a favor? I would like to find an appropriate fiancée for my sister."
Cleo was in a precarious position, and this had influenced Cecilia as well.
Although Cecilia was of royal descent, her inheritance rights were low and she had no fiancée either.
In a sense, she was worse off than Wallace.
Tia contemplated before answering.
"I will speak to Lord Liam."
On the other hand, Cecilia, who was suddenly subjected to a conversation about finding her a fiancée, was utterly confused.
"Eh? EHHH!? Why are we suddenly talking about my engagement?"

After the supper with the other aristocrats, I am having a drink with Baron Exner.
"Do you understand my feelings, Count!? The feeling of having posters about me sold and placed into the lockers of my subordinate!?"
It appears that he was holding back a lot.
He's drunk in a bad way.

"I feel pathetic for selling goods about myself for money. Besides, my son's' engagement hasn't been decided either… Oh, our promise of having my daughter receive training at your place still holds, yes?"
I tip my hat to you, sir, for having such a capitalistic spirit and earning money through selling your own goods.
As an evil lord, I should also have such a spirit.
"Please leave it to me. I'm not one to break a promise."
I see.
So Kurt has not decided on a fiancée yet.
It must be difficult for him because of his position.
While I am drinking with Baron Exner, Tia, who has been entrusted to aid His Highness Cleo, contacts me.
"Excuse me, it's from a subordinate — What is it?"
I stand up from my seat to talk with Tia.
I think I heard someone say "Ah~ it's Lord Liam's voice" softly, but it's probably just my imagination.
"Lord Liam, it's an order, no, a request from His Royal Highness Cleo."
"What is it about? Money?"
Just as I am pondering about how much to send, Tia tells me that it's something different.
"No, Her Highness Cecilia is High Highness Cleo's sister. She's 150 years old and at an age where she could've married, but she doesn't have a partner because of her standing."

I certainly remember her from before.

"Do you think I can do anything about that? Thing like engagements and marriages are decided by the court."
"No need to worry about that. This matter will not be touched upon because of the lack of a candidate. Lord Liam, why don't you take this chance to have her marry a nobleman that you are close with?"
Tia's proposing to use Her Royal Highness Cecilia to buy the favor of another family.
Her Royal Highness Cecilia is a royalty, and there isn't any bloodline nobler than hers in the empire.
It could develop into a huge problem if someone raises the issue of bloodline.
Her father is His Majesty the Emperor and her mother's family is a great aristocrat.
However, none of the aristocrats are asking for her hand in marriage because she is the sister of His Highness Cleo.
In other words, unlike Wallace, she can marry whenever she wants to if the problem of His Highness Cleo is resolved.
"Marriage?"
"Yes, there's no issue with her bloodline, and she is an upstanding person. I hope she is blessed with a good relationship."
I glance at the figure of Baron Exner who is drunk and sleeping.
"An upstart family would want superior bloodline, yes?"
"Do you have someone in mind?"
I wake up Baron Exner to have a discussion.
Although his consciousness is blurry, Baron Exner seems to be able to still talk.
"Baron Exner, I have something to speak with you regarding Kurt's marriage."

This was said by Kurt's younger sister, [Ciel Sera Exner], who was also listening to the story.
She was someone with a long, loose silver hair and purple eyes.
She was a beautiful girl with clear eyes and an erect nose, just like Kurt.
Her body was small and slender.
While listening to her parent's conversation, Ciel was also communicating with her brother Kurt.
"I feel sorry for brother."
"Really? But it's a marriage that Liam put together, so I can't refuse it."
Seeing how delighted her brother was, Ciel felt like crying inside her heart.

After the omiai had finished, Yukiko finally had the chance to pay attention to the estate. Instead of traditional Japanese floorboards and subtle colors like her father's base of operations, the estate that they were in had a more Western focus. 

The bold reds and golds were in stark contrast to the kimono both young women wore, and her father couldn't help but comment on it.

"Why did Yamamoto decide on this particular design?" he looked around, his gaze particularly focused onto a framed picture of a quaint farmhouse. There was an old woman bent over a wooden box that was taller than it was wide. There were other boxes around her as well. 

The girl in the kimono glanced back at Togai. "Oyabun decided through a hat." The girl then turned back around, her posture impeccable. 

Togai turned to look at his daughter and he mouthed the words, 'Through a hat' along with making an exaggerated confused expression. 

Similarly, Yukiko shook her head to express her confusion as well. How could a person decide on something through a hat? Don't tell her that that old man was even more senile than her dad- perhaps he talked to hats... and they spoke back to him. 

With a grin twitching at the edges of her mouth, Yukiko straightened up. They had finally entered a wallpapered hallway that had multiple doors. 

"Please," the young lady stood to the left of the doorway and extended her arm out towards the door. Togai glanced at his daughter before sending her a wolfish grin. 

"Have a nice sleep, eh, Yukki-chan?" he winked at her and entered the room before she could say anything. 

"Mou[1]! That father of mine," Yukiko narrowed her eyes. If she knew her father, which she did, then the man would be gone by morning. Perhaps he wouldn't wait for morning. He'd be more likely to leave right after the sun set. 

Piece a shit. Hmph. 

The young girl had bowed before Togai had entered the room and it was only after the door closed that she straightened up. However, her previous impeccable manner transformed. 

Although- when her father was with them- she had her hands clasped respectfully before her, the young girl now held them arrogantly on her waist as she placed most of her body weight on her right leg. But what transformed the most was the young girl's facial expression- her reverence became an outright sneer. Even her voice had increased by an octave. "Who do you think you are?" 

Ara, ara[2].  Seems like the bitch finally showed her true colors, hmm? 

But too bad for her. Yukiko faced harsher criticisms than the girl's crooked ass. 

"Who do you think I am?" She raised an eyebrow, her voice filled entirely of amusement. 

The girl flushed red as she stomped her feet. She hadn't expected Togai's daughter to fight back. Sizing up the larger girl for a few seconds, she hmphed and decided to ignore her. Turning around, her geta made muffled sounds on the carpet despite how much force she used to stomp away. 

Yukiko watched in amusement as the girl fast-walked down the hallway. The girl was probably running back to the true mastermind. Who that was, however, Yukiko couldn't even begin to guess. 

After all, she had just arrived. 

Just before the girl reached the intersection at the end of the hallway, she glanced back at Yukiko and childishly stuck out her tongue. After ensuring that Yukiko noticed her, she raised her head up and turned right. 

Yukiko was struck dumb. 

Just who sent that girl to her...? 

Did they not realize how stupid she was? 

Shaking her head in disappointment, Yukiko began to walk down the hallway, the opposite way from the girl. 

Since the family house could be seen from their omiai room, then the only thing she had to do was get outside and circle around the estate. Simple. 

Doing just that, it took no time at all for Yukiko to find her new residence. The only issue was that she had no way to enter it. 

Staring intensely at the gold doorknob of the family house, Yukiko could do nothing but sigh at it. If this was her father's house, she wouldn't have cared at all- that door would have been knocked down with one well-aimed kick. 

Of course, she still needed to make a good impression on the other members of the Yamamoto family. Nobody wanted a potential yome to break down doors on the first day. She had to at least wait a month. 

Sighing, Yukiko protruded her upper lip as she thought about her options. She couldn't break the door, and she didn't have the key. She reached out and rattled the doorknob. Nodding, she concluded that it would be possible. What would be possible? Yukiko grinned wolfishly. 

Lock-picking, of course. 

Taking off her geta, Yukiko cracked her knuckles before she reached onto her fancy hairdo, taking out two inconspicuous bobby pins. Bending one into the shape of a torque wrench, she began to stretch the other bobby pin out. After the second bobby pin was extended to a loose v shape, Yukiko bit off the round end. 

Scrutinizing her tools, Yukiko was satisfied. The door could no longer keep her out from the soft futon she was expecting to be inside. Yukiko bent down on one knee so that her eyes were now level with the lock before she began to pick it. After one minute, the sharp sound of metal clicking signaled the unlocking of the door. 

Yukiko stood from the ground leisurely and even took the time to wipe off the nonexistent dirt on her kimono. She casually opened the door and snickered when the lights were left on- somebody had purposefully locked the door for her. 

How unreasonable. 

She at least wanted to sleep before she had to play with them. 

Sighing outwardly, but grinning inwardly, Yukiko felt exhilarated. It had been a long time since she felt excited about something. 

Even her father's 'fun' hadn't been fun anymore. 

Perhaps the omiai had been a good idea after all. 

Nodding, Yukiko began to take her surroundings into account. The family home wasn't like the style of the Yamamoto estate nor was it purely Japanese. In fact, it was more of a mix between Western and Japanese designs. 

There was a shoe holder right next to the door, and the wooden floor was slightly raised. There was even slippers already waiting for its new owner. 

With a slight smile, Yukiko switched her shoes for her slippers and walked further into the house, however she made sure that her steps were quiet. 

The house opened up and Yukiko could see that it had an open concept; the kitchen, dining area, and living room were all connected into one single space. The kitchen was to the immediate righto of Yukiko, while the dining room was right beyond the kitchen. The living room, on the other hand, was straight ahead. 

Yukiko could see her two suitcases peeking out from behind a black leather couch. 

After ensuring that there was no one on the first floor- she had even entered the bathroom- Yukiko turned off the lights before going upstairs and sleeping in the first open room that she found. 

Of course, she had brought her luggage up with her, and she had placed a strand of her hair around the doorknob. It would snap if anyone entered the room. 

After ensuring that everything was in place, she made her futon and crashed. 

She was sure to play with them thoroughly tomorrow.

Yakuza or the Gokudo are organized crime units all over Japan reminiscent of the mafia. 

Having a strict hierarchy, members defer to the Oyabun (or the Kumicho). 

Hirayama Yukiko is the daughter of Hirayama Togai and (formerly Hirayama) Yasumi Miyuko. Miyuko, her mother, is a high-end police chief, known in her region as "Rabid Dog". Hirayama Togai, her father, is the Kumicho of the Kawamura-kai, a large Yakuza syndicate located in Osaka. 

Born to such parents, it was no wonder Yukiko had trouble acclimating to a katagi[1] lifestyle.

Unfortunately, her father had other plans, dragging her into the Yakuza world. 

What will Yukiko decide? 

Will she return to being a katagi, or will she become a part of the Ninkyou Dantai[2]?

I never doubted I'll see my father again. 

He's a powerful man, that I admit. Though I deliberately covered my tracks, and I could say I'm good, if not best, at it. He would find me, one way or another. I just helped him confirm where I am by purposely leaving a huge ass bread crumb on my trail. 

As much as I hated him for killing my mother, I knew for a fact Kenji was right. I needed my father's help. I wouldn't admit that in his face though. 

Alice McKinley was a one hell of an adversary. Even if I'm good with what I do, I was still a no match for her. I might as well just a small fish and she was a shark. 

But still, I wouldn't let my only family down. I would save the twins' mother. Even if she hated me. 

"Are you okay?" Jun asked quietly beside me. 

"I'm sorry for dragging you into this mess," I said, instead of answering his query. 

"That's what friends do, Yui," he grinned at me. "You saved my life many times before. It's time I return the favor." 

"You don't really have to." 

"Hey, I wanted to." He bumped me with his shoulder and smirked. "Plus, I think it's brownie points for your cousin. Aside for my abs, of course." 

I looked at him with a frown. "I don't really want to hear that again." 

He chuckled and then winked at someone behind us. I didn't even have to turn around to see it was Elli. 

"You know I can castrate you and not feel bad about it, right?" I asked him monotonously. 

Jun grinned at me sheepishly. "I really, really like your cousin though." 

Well, at least he was honest. Too honest it was sickening already. I really didn't need him to remind me of his feelings over and over again. It just reminded me of the tall white guy behind us. 

As cocky as it sounds, I knew Tolkien liked me. Even before Marissa spilled it first. I may not have the experience in romance department, but I'm not stupid. And I wasn't totally blind and naïve. 

I knew by the way he was looking at me and from the way he treats me. And we shared an embrace once. I felt how fast the beating of his heart was. 

There was no way I would acknowledge his feelings, though. It wasn't right. Dragging him into this mess was a complication enough. He didn't deserve everything of it. Neither the twins. 

What was worse was he saw what I do for a living. He might not show how he felt about it, but I know he would eventually. Especially when he found out I'd killed many people. 

I was six when my father started training me how to fight. He would let me spar with his best men, and he would beat them if they went easy on me. I was eight when I managed to beat two of his best fighters. 

When Kenji was recruited in the Yakuza, he was to fight with me until one of us fell down. I was ten. 

He broke two of my ribs, and I broke one of his. We both collapsed from pain and exhaustion. When I woke up two days later, he was on my bedside with a laptop and tapping madly at it. 

We were both the youngest in the yakuza, so we get along despite of our broken ribs. He was an orphan, and my father took notice of him when he hacked one of his enemies' system, at such a young age; and downloaded all their confidential files. Thus, the collapse of that organization and my father claiming its assets. 

Kenji became my father's favorite. He was always beside him from then on. I continued training with him and he also taught me everything he knew in programming and hacking as well. He even claimed I'd bested him when I finished Project August. 

I looked up to him as my older brother, and to him I'm a younger sister. Though our relationship got strained when I found out he knew about what really happened on my mother's death. 

I was thirteen when I had my first job as a bodyguard, when Jun was almost kidnapped in front of our school. I had my first kill at that age too. 

I didn't really want to kill them. But I had no choice. It was either them, or Jun. 

I was testing August's accuracy when he alerted me of two men following Jun and I after school. We ditched another two of his bodyguards—who were waiting in front of the school since I was with him inside—and went to walk home. 

We were planning to stop by at our favorite café, when August suddenly told me details of the hitmen's approximate position and what were their weapons. Luckily for us, there were CCTV's in the alley we were on despite of the lack of people who were actually going there. 

It was also an advantage. No witnesses. And I could easily erase the footage. 

I was actually just planning to disarm and injure them. But I underestimated them. They wouldn't stop even with a broken leg or arm. I was suddenly feeling terrified of their desire and intent to kill both of us. So I did what I had to. 

To kill or be killed. 

My father taught me that. So I ended them with their own weapons. They underestimated me too, I believe, since they were only carrying blades. They didn't bother with a gun since we were just a couple of kids. 

I was breathing heavily when the men fell on the ground, bleeding and lifeless. Jun was standing there, paper white and eyes wide. 

I had nightmares after that. And Jun left without a word. I expected that, of course. 

But I didn't stop killing after that. For five years, I took job after job as a bodyguard. My father's clients were high profile people, so I often protected them in the dark. I killed their assigned hitmen before they even pull the trigger. 

The nightmares were still there. But I get used to it. I embrace it. It makes me feel human. 

"Sir, Mr. Hidaka and his entourage just arrived." 

August's announcement pulled me out of my thoughts. Jun squeezed my shoulder as support and I nodded at him. 

"You can open the door, August," Jun told him. 

"Yes, sir." 

The double doors opened revealing my father ascending the porch steps. Kenji was by the door the second it opened, and bowing low before him. 

"Irasshai, Hidaka-san," Jun greeted my father with a respectful bow. 

"Ah, Jun-chan." Oyaji greeted Jun back with a pat on the back, which he rarely does to anyone else. "I'm glad you're taking care of my daughter." 

I almost scoffed but I refrained myself. He, of all people, knew I could take care of myself better than anyone else. 

Jun smiled at him. Forcefully, might I add. But he threw me a warning glance, as if telling me to be patient. 

"Yui-chan is in good hands, Okyaku-sama," Jun told him. "You've got nothing to worry." 

Oyaji then turned to me. His face blank. He glanced behind me and I willed myself not to look back. I trained my eyes on him. 

Like any other Yakuza leader or members, my father didn't have any visible tattoos. As far as I know, he only had one on his back. A dragon, of course. 

But there was the unmistakable authority and danger in his aura. Even the most intimidating clients of his couldn't look him straight in the eye. 

My father was already in his fifties—he was ten years older than my mother—but he was still fast. He was the only person I couldn't beat in a sparring match. But that doesn't mean he beats me either. 

I noticed he only brought four of his best men and I nodded to them as greeting. I knew all of them since I was a kid. Most of them were still in teens while training me before. But they were all grown men now. And more dangerous. 

"I see you've finally met your cousins," Oyaji said, his eyes still trained on the people behind me. 

"What's your business here?" I asked him in English, making sure my face was blank and my voice emotionless. 

Oyaji looked at me again. "I assumed Kenji already explained it to you, but it's evident you didn't listen to him. I expected that, to be honest." 

"Why don't we go to the sitting room?" Jun suggested. "Hidaka-san's probably tired from the long ride." 

Oyaji smiled slightly at Jun, also a rare occurrence. "Still as polite as your father, I see. How is he anyway?" He stepped towards the sitting room and Jun threw me another glance while escorting my father. 

Kenji nodded at me and followed suit while two of Oyaji's men stood guard by the door. The other two by the front door. I let them, even it was useless to stand guard because of August. 

Which reminded me, my father didn't trust the AI as much as he trusted Kenji. He wasn't using August for his establishments' security since he was using Kenji's program. And his program was more precise and complicated than mine, hence, my two-minute timeline of escape. 

"So, that's the Oyabun," Elli's voice came from behind me. 

I sighed and turned to them. "Yeah," I grimaced when I saw Tolkien's rigid posture. "You should really stay away from him. He's more dangerous than he lets on. You should probably just stay upstairs." 

"I wonder what Aunt Jazz ever saw in him," Aeron said. 

"I was asking myself exactly that." 

"He's intimidating, your father," Tolkien voiced out a bit shakily. "He just looked at us and I almost sh*t my pants." 

Elli sighed and shook her head. "You shouldn't really tell that to the girl you—" 

"Why aren't you following them inside?" Tolkien cuts her off by asking me that a bit too loudly. "We'll prepare that tea Jun always gives us." 

"I believe that's my job as a host," Jun interrupted us. 

We all turned to him. I noticed he already looked tired. My father just arrived and he was already spent. 

"You should get inside," Jun told me, nodding over at the sitting room. "He's starting to mention about that stupid omiai again." 

"The what?" Elli asked in confusion.
