You're tired of cliché weapons. You feel a regular sword or giant cleaver is overdone, and as a result look at less then lethal options such as blunt weapons in return.

The truth is, you don't have to.

You don't have to set your character up for slaughter against bladed opponents by going for blunt weapons, whilst making claims that due to one thing or another these weapons suit the situation and their use. 

ENJOY!

One thing that I often notice in fics and novels is that people why away from bladed weapons, like a Katana in favor of a Staff, because they feel the former is cliché and the latter original.

The truth is, that there are better options.

If your character enters melee life or death combat situations with a LTL (Less than Lethal) or Blunt weapon, on a frequent basis because of his occupation. Then you have ruined your character already.

Blunt weapons are only meant for LTL action, such as self defence, non lethal vigilantism and caving in metal armor. That is not to say they cannot be used for lethal purposes. They are just less efficient to do so. 

As such, if you make a ninja, assassin, or warrior of some kind that frequently finds him or herself in lethal combat situations without a fully armored European Knight or its equivalent infront of them, then it is suicide to not meet that opposition with the same level of force or higher.

If the end result is death either way, then a competent character will streamline their efficiency in sending their opponents to the afterlife as expedient as possible. 

Now, I bet you're thinking something like: but swords are overrated. With something like a European longsword or Katana in mind. 

Perhaps you're even thinking of the giant blades some fandoms have, but those are not your only options by a long shot. 

Here are some bladed weapon types that are just as cool, less used and that can give some flare and individuality to your character:

1. Polearms
One of the most overlooked bladed weapons that are known to excel in 1 on 1 combat are Polarms. They come in different types and sizes such as the poleaxe meant to hold back an armored opponent, up to Glaives and Naginata's which are meant to hold an opponent at bay much like a spear, but are centered around cutting more than stabbing. 

The downside of these large weapons, is the environment in which they are suited for. They need a lot of open space, so if your story takes place in a forest, large cutting type weapons will be at a major disadvantage. 

That said, stabbing stabbing weapons such as a spear, are not.

2. Chinese War blades.
These badass cutters and choppers would look cool even in that hands of the biggest of men and smallest of women if simply scaled up or down along with their size. 

They are unique enough to Warent their own fighting style and not be reminiscent of Katanas and longsword in either way.

3. Kodachi
These are essentially short swords that are the perfect lenght for urban and forest combat. Often a choice for duel wielding characters in games and movies. 

They're upclose and personal, efficiënt and sleek, perfect for a ninja or assassin.

4. Kama / Sickles 
Despite the numerous depictions of nina wielding variations of these in older online media, they haven't been seen much in anime or games. 

Despite that, they offer wicked varieties to them such as a ball and chain varient, that will allow you to build up a trick and skill based combat style for your character.

5. Sai
Perhaps best known in Western hemispheres due to characters like Carmen Elektra and the Ninja Turtle Rafael, Sai are brutally cool and niche weapons. 

They are meant to assassinate, catch, snap and counter blades in a duelwield fashion.

6. Tomahawks
Anyone who knows about Native American history knows just how lethal these little choppers are. Well balanced, they can be thrown with lethal efficiency with power behind them that will knock your opponent off his feet, as they chop into the skull. 

Tomahawks are a form of one-handed war axes, that you will often see used for duel wielding in movies and games. They're one of the cheapest, most lethal and versatile killing tools to date.

7. Fist weapons / Arm Blades
Anyone who has seen wolverine in action or perhaps a predator from the AVP series will know just how awesome, niche and Over Powered these weapons can be. 

They come in a large variety of sizes and mounting positions, and are even seen among traditional ninja tools. The best thing is that they can be part of your characters armor, gauntlets and what not.

8. Chakram / Circle Blades
These circular cutters are meant to be duelwielded, and a favorite with many variations to them in video games.

If you're looking for originality, then this is pretty much as good as it gets. If you have a very dynamic combat style in mind for your character, then this is one weapon type that you have to consider.

9. Battle Axes
Mostly known in the common shape of an axe, there are varieties, such as the Panabas, that are absolutely lethal choppers.

Somewhere between the size of a pole arm and regular blade, these weapons rarely lack individuallity or lethality. They are perfect for two handed Close Quarter Combat as their size and weight is entirely depended on the type of battle axe.

If you have a strong character or one based on brute force, then this is most likely the best weapon for the..

10. Zanbato and simularly large blades
These swords are oversized killing machines. Forget about quick drawing these because they are too large for you to remove from their sheaths after battle has commenced.

Often depicted as Large Claymores, these weapons come in a lethal and creative variety, that include swords simular to Okatana's and Nodachi. They make the perfect cavalry crippling swords, and are a right pain to deal with in 1 on 1 combat.

The only downside is, that much like pole arms, they're useless indoors and in forests.

After all, there is a limit to how much a wooden staff can take when facing one of these bad boys. Especially in fics with a supernatural enhancement for cutting power and the likes.

I'm not an author, my interests in a concept don't last long enough to write it and I am admittedly not the strongest in writing a decent dialog.

I'm someone who is Hyper Aware of a lot of things, and one of them is if something severely lacks. Whilst I can do art Inspite of that, I just can't bring myself to write dialog that doesn't feel perfectly natural.

That said, I do often write drafts for stories, sometimes I even manage a chapter worth of dialog that any author would be proud to own, but when it's about the baseline that I achieve for my dialogs, then I prefer not to publish.

However, I do have ideas, so many ideas and thoughts on things that I feel the need to express them. Hopefully, they will be of help for authors, who are feeling stuck or unsure how to develop their story, or want to write one but are unsure about what to write.

So, long story short. What follows are drafts for fics and stories. Ideas on how to build a convincingly strong character without needing all those rediculously overpowered bloodlines and abilities.

Ideas on how to develop abilities and exploit them, that you might not have thought to try.

Because let's face it, a creative mind can make even the simplest of abilities into a versatile master piece.

All of those things, you will find here, sooner or later. So have fun, be inspired or horrified at what you read. ;p

He can be depicted as someone who would look like a guy at first glance, but if you look hard enough, there's a bit of feminism in there, like the eyelashes and eyebrows looking much more detailed and accentuates his eyes more than they should.

He kept cursing internally and released a single ice spike, which sped of quite quickly, like an arrow being released from it's tension. The spike hit the boar square in the back, it's fatality inevitable.

He sighed and grabbed the boar by it's tail. He carried it on his shoulder and started walking towards town, where he could sell the boar and maybe gain some more money for food.

Red's eyes suddenly bursted with determination, abruptly leaving the stall and running towards the forest. The man sighed and shook his head as he continued his daily routine.

Red can then be seen crouching behind a rabbit as he slowly let ice haze penetrate the ground, forming slightly visible tendrils of ice underneath, slowly creeping towards the rabbit who was eating grass merrily.

Red has been doing the exact same procedure for 3 hours now, slowly enveloping the grass the rabbit eats with ICE and nurturing it. In fact, the rabbit wasn't the only victim of thus cruel way of nurturing, there was also several rabbits alike, and a boar.

Red sighed helplessly at the attention he was getting, well he didn't mind, but he wished he could atleast be 18 so he can flirt with those females eyeing him.

He arrived at the same stall and placed the 9 rabbits and 1 boar, shocking the man out of his wits. The man hastily cut and sliced the beasts and inspected the Beast Cores they held.

"I don't believe it kid! Ye actually got ye'r old man some boun'y! Take these an' leave! I 'ave some sellin' to do" The man greedily said as he threw 20 Gold and the promised rewards to him.

"should we investigate further, sire?" A man in a black cloak asked. He can be seen bowing down to someone sitting on what seemed to be a throne.

"Go, and make sure to not be noticed like last time" The man sitting on the throne replied and sent the kneeling man away.

The man chuckled and held his staff before getting down the throne and leaving.

"I'm willing," said the young lady as she nodded. Huang Lu Hao was the director of that movie. He was quite a famous director. Then, he smirked and asked several personal questions.
Upon the agreement of the young lady, Huang Lu Hao nodded at her fine appearance and figure but he had to find out more.
"Alright, leave your particulars and work experience details behind, we will notify you again."
"Alright." replied the lady as she left with a coquettish look at Huang Lu Hao as if she was hinting at him to call her anytime.
"Those chicks that I had just interviewed were not bad. Especially the one with the surname Wang. She had such a round ass."
"Haha, I can settle them with just one phone call. After I've f*cked with them, I just have to fit them into some random role in the movies." Huang Lu Hao said.
This interview was special, there were only the three of them in the interview room and they were in control the whole time.
To Huang Lu Hao, he felt extremely lucky to have successfully bidded for Teacher Tao's novel. Teacher Tao's novels were all critically acclaimed. When her works were transformed into films, they all had extremely good reviews and were very popular. The small actors in the films had all become famous superstars and naturally, the director had also benefited from it in the film industry.
But what Huang Lu Hao didn't know was that their words and actions were all being watched. There was a giant mirror on one of the walls in the interview room and there was actually another room behind it.
There were people who listened to whatever was happening in the room. Some of them felt disturbed from listening to interview that took place inside.
"Teacher Tao, I'm sorry. I really didn't know that Huang Lu Hao was this sort of person. If I had known, I wouldn't have recommended him," a man said, looking disturbed.
He was an investor in the film, but he did not have much power over making decisions. As long as Teacher Tao mentioned that she wanted to have a movie about her novel, there would be countless investors opting to invest in the film.
He only had the opportunity to do so because of his relationship with Teacher Tao.
The director he recommended had just asked the actors such disturbing questions. He was extremely embarrassed. Teacher Tao was almost sixty years of age. But she still looked rather young and classy. She interlocked her fingers and just sat there emotionless.
But everyone knew that he was furious. He hated those actors that had joined his films through backdooring, even if it was a small role.
"Teacher Tao, I will immediately fire these three people and arrange for another interview session." one of the investors frantically said.
"There's no need for that." Teacher Tao replied with a rather unfriendly tone.
...
"Next, Chen Xin Yi."
"Xin Yi, it's your turn. All the best!" Luo Dan shook her hand and cheered her on.
"Okay," Chen Xin Yi took a deep breath and went into the room.
Huang Lu Hao and two other people were actually discussing the chicks and when they saw Xin Yi enter the room, they tried to look more serious.
Chen Xin Yi told herself to not be too nervous as she entered the room.
"How're you doing, directors." Chen Xin Yi greeted the three people in the room.
Huang Lu Hao was just analyzing her physical appearance.
What a masterpiece with a pretty face and good figure. What long and slender legs. Perfect!
Huang Lu Hao had thought of something to say and cleared his throat to ask some questions.
In the other room...
"This lady is classy and she matches the role for Lan Yun perfectly." that was the first time Teacher Tao praised someone since the interviews had started. The investors also nodded in agreement but whether they would be favored for the film, everything depended on Teacher Tao. At this moment, Huang Lu Hao smirked.
"This film is based on Teacher Tao's novel. You know that, right?" Huang Lu Hao asked.
"Yes, I have read all of his novels. Especially the role of Lan Yun. I have studied it and I feel that I can succeed if I take up this role." Chen Xin Yi said confidently.
Teacher Tao nodded after hearing her words and said, "This lady is confident, good."
"Looks like you're confident but you should know that many of the current big name actors all rose to fame from acting in films based on Teacher Tao's novels. May I know if you're willing to make some sacrifice for a role?" Huang Lu Hao asked while he secretly wished for Xin Yi's agreement.
Chen Xin Yi was taken aback and asked "What sacrifice?"
"You don't know what he meant by sacrifice?" the man beside him laughed and replied.
Chen Xin Yi understood their intentions and shook her head. "No, I can't agree to that."
Huang Lu Hao was a little unhappy and he said, "You should know that with this small sacrifice, you would be able to take on a bigger role. In future, you would have more opportunities to become famous in the entertainment industry. With such intense competition in the industry, do you think you'd be able to get your dream role without any sacrifice? We will give you some time to consider."
Chen Xin Yi knew that it was difficult for her to get her dream role and it would require some form of sacrifice. But she did not expect to face such a situation.
Then, Chen Xin Yi suddenly thought of a phrase that she strongly believed in, "Stick firmly to the convictions of your heart and luck will come your way."
"Sorry, then I may not be suitable for this role." Chen Xin Yi replied without any hesitation and left the room.
"For someone like you, you deserve to stay as a small actor forever!" Huang Lu Hao pointed at Chen Xin Yi and said. Then, he threw her stack of particulars and resume into the bin.
Chen Xin Yi stared at the bin, took a deep breath and left the room. She was heartbroken.
"This lady is decent, let me see her details." Teacher Tao unexpectedly smiled and said as she took the papers over from an investor.
But Chen Xin Yi hated what Huang Lu Hao did.
…
"Xin Yi, how did it go?" Luo Dan asked nervously.
Chen Xin Yi just nodded and said, "I guess it was alright." She wanted to continue the conversation with Luo Dan but…
"Next, Luo Dan."
"Xin Yi, I'll head inside first." Luo Dan interrupted and went into the room.
Suddenly, a commotion could be heard.
Luo Dan kicked the door and shouted, "You think you can take advantage of me just based on this? Where the f*ck your morals? Do you think you can hide the truth from the masses? Do you think I would starve to death if I didn't get a role in this film?"
Then, Chen Xin Yi immediately went forward and said, "Luo Dan…"
"Xin Yi, let's go. What a lousy director with all his nonsense. He even tried to take advantage of us." Luo Dan shouted and scolded.
The others who heard her also walked over.
"What is wrong with you? You're not suitable for the role and you're maligning us? I want to see which company you're from." Huang Lu Hao didn't expect her to be that hot-tempered and to create such a big fuss.
Sister Tao panicked when she saw what had happened and said, "Luo Dan, shut up."
Then, she repeatedly half-bowed to Huang Lu Hao and apologized.
"Director Huang, don't be angry…"
"Oh, so it's Tian Ming Entertainment Group. Let me tell you that your company will not get a single role in this film."
…
"Nice, nice. I like these two ladies." Teacher Tao happily stood up and said in admiration of Chen Xin Yi and Luo Dan.
"And I do not want these three perverts to be handling my work."
Teacher Tao was very firm about it and naturally, the investors didn't dare to defy her words. For a normal person, the investors were the one making the decisions. But it wasn't the case this time.
All because the person in front of them was Teacher Tao.


I am Lin Fan and I've become a jack of all trades just because of a powerful Encyclopedia. 
In the first ever competition organised for trolls, all the other contestants lost. The crowd exclaimed, "Brother, you're so good at trolling."

Dark

There was darkness all around me. No matter how far I looked there was nothing but darkness.

Then I began to think. 

Where am I? What is this place? Last I remember I was .... I don't remember anything...

Who am I? I could piece together that I was a student. I remember having a family, friends and hobbies but not who or what they were. I remember how I look like. 21 years old, lean athletic build, black hair, green eyes and about 186 cm. Though not handsome I was at least easy on the eyes. I was extremely pale. So pale that I could be mistaken for a vampire.

For some reason I remembered all the movies and novels I ever saw.

It was weird and was driving me crazy.
(A/N : The MC has no knowledge of Mangas or Japanese culture in general or even comic books, he only knows of movies and a few novels so only occasionally will he have any meta knowledge about the plot)

It was then I saw something akin to a screen in front of me. For some odd reason I could understand what was written on it even though it wasn't in any language I knew of.

Even though it was vague and extremely dubious the darkness was driving me crazy. After thinking about it I chose 'Y' .

Each world you travel to will have one mission for you to complete. The reward for completing the mission can either be an ability acquired in that world ( Derivatives like spells for magic manipulation ability don't count, so if you choose to take light magic ability for example the related spells would naturally come with it also martial arts do not count as abilities but skills, the skills will remain with you throughout your journey once you learn them) or a slot for a person of the realm you are visiting to become your companion in your journey (you can also keep the slot for later use in a different world but then you cannot take the ability you acquired from that particular world).]

It took me some time to get over my shock. Apparently I am being isekied not to mention the fact that I have given permission to be part of an experiment whose goal I do not know. It's not like I want to go with the flow but... I DON'T HAVE A CHOICE. Angry as I may be about my situation, I know this is the only way to escape the darkness before I am driven to insanity. Firming my resolve I chose 'Y'  .

(A/N: I tweaked All Fiction a bit by adding the power to bring things back from nothingness for the story. Please do note that though powerful it will not make him OP. Strong from the start sure but not OP because in the worlds that he will visit, people will have counter measures to deal with him.)

I was instantly hit with enormous pain. Using all my wits to bear the honestly excruciating pain I somehow manage pull through. As I regained my bearings, my mind was flooded with information about my boons as well as how to use them.

The first ability was quite helpful as it made me understand my strengths so I could plan accordingly. My second ability made me a bit nervous, I didn't want to become an emotionless robot. After understanding it thoroughly it seems it made me more like Batman on steroids, I guess I could live with that. And finally my third ability, frankly that just seems like some OP bullshit. But I know there must beings out there that can find a way around it if such an ability can be given to others so freely. 

It seems that I would at least have the power to protect myself wherever I end up.

To give it a test run I mentally said 'Status'.

Now what is this job thing? Concentrating on the job tab I get an explanation.

[Job: It signifies the type of build you have for your abilities.( Like if someone who has Monk as a job will have a build with high strength and vitality attributes).]

[Journeyman: This job signifies your being able to travel through the worlds. It also gives you limitless growth. As long as you overcome your limits you can increase your attributes without any problems.]

I can grow stronger but only by overcoming my limits. I just know there is a catch to that but I can only wait to find out what it is.

As I was lost in thought another screen showed up.

[Attention! The first world transfer is starting. After the transfer is complete you would be given your first world mission. Please do your best to complete your mission. Do note that only after completing the mission can you move on to the next world.]

Well even though it was practically being forced upon me I was kinda looking forward to escaping the darkness and being this "Journeyman". Let's hope during this experiment or whatever this is, I can dig out some more answers.
