Listening to music can be entertaining and some research suggests that it might even make you healthier. Music can be a source of pleasure.

Waking at 04:45, Michael washed his face and changed into his tracksuit. Going towards the quidditch ground for his daily routine which includes 10 km of running with weights, weighted push ups, pull ups, squats, crunches, flexibility exercises, practicing his katas and finally half an hour of morning meditation. 
Walking back to the dorms he saw that students were waking up now, the time was 06:45, he quickly got fresh and had a nice morning bath. 
wearing his uniform, he got ready for breakfast which was at 07:30, he went towards the Great Hall and saw that students were starting to come down for breakfast, only Gryffindor table had least students as most of the students there were lazy. Even Slytherins had mostly arrived at their tables.
After 5 minutes, the breakfast started, children around Michael were surprised by his eating etiquette but were more shocked by the amount of food that he ate alone. Ignoring their reactions he continued eating his food.
After eating his food he left the Great Hall quickly, because he had to utilise his each and every second at Hogwarts, there was still an hour till the classes started he got into his room and started reading all the advanced books that he had acquired in the vault, he had already finished theory upto NEWT level and was now starting to learn mastery level concepts from this 'new' books. it would take him around 3-4 months to actually understand the concepts behind the spells of that level, even though he had eidetic memory, but still needed to grab the concepts behind. it was like having precious information but being unable to understand it. which could lead to devastating effects, that's why after NEWTs wizards take apprenticeship under a master in that particular field. 
The hour was almost up, it was his potions class right now and he didn't want to be late for that class because of Snape's reputation. He took his book, a fountain pen, a parchment and his set of potion equipment kept in a potioneer's case which was a gift from his mom. Taking all his things he needed he quickly got into the dungeons where potions class was supposed to take place, he got into the classroom, saw an empty seat at the top corner and sat there waiting for snape to come to the class. 
After 2 minutes Snape came into the class, black robes, greasy hair, books in his hands and a fluttering Black cape. The first thought that crossed Michael's mind after seeing snape was 'Batman!!!'  He could have bet a hundred galleons that snape's character was based upon batman. He was somewhere getting the feeling that snape might be an unregistered bat animagus. 
He walked over to his desk, kept the books there and stood next to it. 
"There would be no foolish wand waving or silly incantation in this class, as such I don't expect many of you to understand the subtle science and exact art that is potion making" said Snape with a stoic face. "However for those select few who possess the predisposition, I can teach you how to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses I can tell you how to bottle fame, brew glory and even put a stopper to death" he said in his usual tone. 
"Damn, he must have practiced that one for many years" was the thought that was going in his mind. 
Michael understood Snape's character from original storyline, He had great respect for his brilliant mind. His potion skills are as great as his mom, but now she was ahead due to all the 'new' books. Snape could even be a great asset in war against V-man. As he was thinking this Snape snapped at Michael's lack of focus and said "Mr. Blest, our new celebrity. Tell me, what will you get if you add asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?? "
"God!! not this shit again! " thought Michael as he said in a clear and respectful tone "Sir, powdered root of Asphodel is added to an infusion of wormwood to brew a powerful sleeping potion known as drought of the living death".
" What is difference between Monkshood and wolfsbane?? "
"There is no difference, they are one and the same, they also go by the name of Aconite. It is very useful when dealing with werewolves and in making of an extremely strong sedative that can be useful in brewing the Awakening potion."
"Where would you look if I asked you to find me a bezoar?? "
"A bezoar is a stone taken from the stomach of a goat and acts as an antidote to most of the poisons, Basilisk venom being one of the most famous exception"
There was pin drop silence in the class, Michael noticed twitching on the corner of Snape's eyes and smiled. It wasn't everyday that you get this kind of reaction out of Snape. 
"Looks like you have done some reading Mr Blest, 5 points to Ravenclaw" said Snape, "However, just knowing the theory will not mean much if you cannot apply it in practice"
There was another shock that rippled through the class, it was almost impossible for any other house to gain points from Snape, it was just as possible as your chance to take a dragon egg and make an omelet out of it in from of its mother. Even Michael was shocked, it was his first class and he had already made history in Hogwarts. All the students from Ravenclaw had a new found respect for Michael, they had heard about snape's habit of never giving any point to any house other than Slytherin. 
The rest of the class went normal as Snape explained the theory behind the Boilcure potion. Even though Michael already knew about it, the class was still entertaining watching him taking points from Gryffindor every 15 minutes. Michael had to say, even though Snape had vampire like tendencies and Batman like outfit, he was still a master at his art, he knew how to keep the class entertaining, and how to pound concepts into children's mind, if not by hardwork then by fear.

The door opened and Zhang Zian got off the car.　　
The chic ladies glanced at him while they passed by, then covered their noses in disgust and kept a distance from his car.

He pretended not to see it. After turning on the tap, he asked, "Why aren't you broadcasting today?"　　
Sihwa was angry and humiliated after hearing his question. "Today… I'm not in the mood today! I don't want to broadcast!"　　
"Okay. It's nice to take a day off sometimes." Zhang Zian wiped his hands, then left the bathroom.　　
"Wait a moment!" Sihwa shouted behind him.　　
"What is it?" Zhang Zian stopped.

"You must be laughing at me, aren't you? You absolutely are!" She pointed at his face in fury before Zhang Zian had even said anything. She was almost embarrassed to tears.
"I'm not laughing at you. It's normal to be illiterate. Nobody is born literate." Zhang Zian shrugged. "Otherwise, they'd be a freak."　　
After hearing his words, Sihwa's mood calmed down a little.　　
"Well… Is there anything you can do to make me literate?" she asked, lowering her head.　　
"Yes. Lend me your phone for a moment." Zhang Zian took her phone and downloaded a few early childhood education apps from the app store. They were all basic-level, but entertaining word learning apps nonetheless; he started with Pinyin, which had real people's voices. The apps were already quite developed, and the functions were complete.　　
He compared a few quickly, then left the most user-friendly one and deleted the rest.　
"Here you are. Follow this. You'll learn them soon." He gave the phone back to her.　　
"Wow! So childish!" She complained as soon as she saw the interface for young kids. "Are there any long-legged Oppas or big-boobed girls teaching the lessons?"　　
"Save it. I'd love to learn if these teachings existed!" Zhang Zian took up her book and flipped through it. The book from Old Time Tea was not suitable.　　
He returned the book to Pi, then found a few fairy tale books with pictures from his childhood book collection. Each character was marked with a Pinyin illustration.　　
"After you learn Pinyin, you can read these books. Just learn the words while reading the stories." He piled the books on the bathroom closet. "Oh, right––books are not waterproof. Ren tightened his shoelaces as he left his room. It's been a few days since he had again started going to school but it always felt refreshing.

At first, it was awkward to have conversations but he gradually got used to them and the memories and feelings also helped him.

The second thing that he was doing this past week was finding information on the internet. Although he had the memories, he still felt the need to search for information.

That's why he was browsing the internet for any information and what he found was unbelievable. 

Although the history of this world only had slight difference, he found that the culture of both world was vastly different.

Nearly all the movies and songs of this world was different from his own world. Although the quality was not that different, the songs and movies were still different.

Not only the songs and movies but the stars of this world were also different. There were no Charlie Chaplin or Robert Downey Jr in this world.

All the stars and celebrities in this world was unfamiliar to him. It was also the same for books.

All the famous books like the world famous «Harry Potter series» and literary masterpieces like «Gone with the wind» are missing in this world.

The school was located besides a small hill. The hill was small and only small animals like rabbits and stray dogs live there but it was a famous spot for students.

The sunset from the hill looked good and it was a popular spot for confessions and you could even see some couples there in the evening.

As he was thinking about that, he soon entered his classroom.

The atmosphere of the classroom was heavy like usual. Ren was in his third year of high school and it was the time when students are the most worried about their university exams.

Ren could see various students studying and only some students were talking among themselves. 

Those talking among themselves were also only making small talks as not to disturb the students who were studying.

Ren quickly found his seat and moved towards it. His seat was in the last row besides the window.

As soon as he sat down on his seat, his shoulder was tapped by someone. 

"Hey, Ren, did you read the light novel I lent you?"

"Yeah, I read it. It was fun."

The person who spoke to him was a average high school student. His name was Kenzaki Kei. He was his best friend.

He was a average looking youth with black hair and black eyes. Most of his features are ordinary and the only thing that stood out was his passion.

"I know, right. It was a great read. It was only the author's debut work but he really hit it off from the start. It was really entertaining and I even heard that there would be plans for a spin-off and a anime series will be also be airing soon."

"Hey, Kei, can't you keep it down."

Hearing Ren's words, Kei glanced around the classroom and saw that several people were looking at him with dissatisfied expressions.

Kei hurriedly lowered his head out of embarrassment and shame.

Kei was always like this. He always got passionate about his likes and hobbies when talking about them. His likes were also peculiar. They were light novels, mangas and anime. Overall, he was a otaku.

His name was Shiki sensei and he was the history teacher as well as Ren's homeroom teacher. 

He was a rather popular teacher among students because of his kind and gentle nature and his teaching methods. 

"Let's start the homeroom."

Fame, wealth, prestige, genius, destruction, despair, loss and failure.

Those are the eight words which describes Ren's life completely.

He was hailed as a genius but his arrogance led him to despair. From a genius, he became a failure.

He was just struggling with his life when fate gave him a second chance.

Now, what will he do after he found himself waking up in another world.

Zhao Cheng's mood was very terrible.

When he went to court that day, and saw the chancellors still bickering in a heated discussion about the delay in northward expansion because of the lack of manpower, his face turned even darker. Ruolan could not hold back herself anymore and blurted out. If she continued to hold back her complaints at this point in time, she would surely vomit blood due to anger.

"Ruolan!" Minglan scolded sternly.

How could a mere slave-servant like them question wang fei's decisions? This Ruolan truly ate a leopard's gall to speak so daringly to the mistress of the fu!

*Male Gods are actually a Chinese term for 男神 (Nanshen); meaning godly males, or OP male characters.

Suddenly A Star - Part 4

     Tomorrow begins like usual, well, my new usual. With a bow, Grandpa and I end our training session. With his words of praise and the exhilaration behind me, I clean myself up before I head to school.

     The moment I enter the courtyard, I can sense others taking notice of me. It's an odd feeling. But as I lazily drift towards the main building, a group of people approach me. They ask me all kinds of questions, none of which would have been expected. They didn't ask me why I was gone for so long, or anything else that would make sense. No, these people were interested in the me of now.

     It was only due to the interruption of the chime for classes to begin shortly, that they finally dispersed. Once I made it to the entrance, I find a laughing Jamie.

     "If you were watching, you could have helped."

     "I could have, but that wouldn't have been as entertaining," she tells me.

     "I hate you."

     "You love me." She tells me just before sticking her tongue out.

     For a moment, flashbacks of her in her dress come to mind. With her tongue hanging out like that, the thoughts that come to mind… my god, I feel like I'm turning into Gee or something. This, of course, gives me a start. Just last night her candor, her looks- none of it did anything to me. Yet today such a simple action sets my mind racing.

     I push those thoughts to the side, hoping Jamie doesn't notice my burning face.

     "I wonder why everyone's so curious now?"

     "Probably because you're amazing." Her confidence in her words does nothing but confuse me more.

     As we move through the halls, careful not to bump into anyone else, I feel the gazes growing. Once we slide into the classroom, I feel better. At least at the Academy, people hardly paid me attention. I let a sigh escape my lips. I need to stop remembering that world. It was an accident, and I'm home now. That place is gone.

     "Feeling down?"

     A voice I do not recognize, calls out a question to me. I look up to meet piercing hazel eyes. They're enveloped in a soft face, meeting plump lips, tinted a shade of pink. Brown hair, cropped close to her head, sticks up from being styled. Apparently my staring comes across as forgetfulness. She tells me her name, but honestly, I forget it immediately.

     "No. Just feeling nostalgic," I tell her.

     "I know the feeling. But cheer up alright?"

     With that, she heads over to her desk and takes a seat. I think to myself, how different people can be. She knows how I feel, yet she can't possibly feel it the way I do. But still…

     A classmate? I don't recognize her. Now that I look around, besides a few acquaintances, I don't actually see many people I actually recognize- Jamie notwithstanding. I can't believe I spent so long with these people without getting to know them. I'll make that a goal after I get my happy ending today.

     "Nothing ever really ends," a wispy voice echoes inside me. One I haven't heard in a long time. The whisper that takes pleasure in my misfortune. I jump out of my seat; the force of it, tipping my chair. The class all turns to look at me. I give a bashful smile, and quickly fix up my desk and chair, as Mr. Gordon walks in with the chime. He gives me a look of concern before I wave him off.

     When class ends, I tell Jamie I'll see her later, I wanna go to the library.

     This may be the first time I've ever came into this school's library. I usually just look up everything online. But I'm in a mood today and want touch the rarities of physical books. Being a student is one of the only ways to get permission to touch real books in my world. My trip to the library was annoyingly long because of how far away the building is from the campus.

     After ten minutes I manage to come upon a massive, if outdated building. Physical books serve little function, so the library has fallen into disrepair. But the little old man there does his best to run it because of his belief that the students should never forget the rush of that "book smell."

     I walk up the building's steps- what were once fine wood, yet now dusty and angry in their protest at the newly applied weight. The door opens easily enough as I make my way inside. I'm immediately surrounded on all sides with shelves of books. They raise easily twenty feet high and ten feet wide with three levels filled with the same layout.

     "I wonder how many books this is?" I ask aloud in wonder.

     "Three-hundred and fifteen thousand, six hundred and four books are within here presently," a voice calls out to my side.

     When I look towards it with a start, I see an older man standing about my height. Were it not for his hunching demeanor he'd probably have half a foot on me. What hair remains around the sides of his head is colored the white of old age- a rarity seeing as how so many opt-in for the aging treatment to keep themselves young nowadays.

     "Afternoon," I call out to him. A smile stretches across his spotted skin.

     "It certainly is. My first visitor in several years. What can I help you with?"

     "Do you have a book on…"

     What am I looking for exactly? I can't imagine I'd find anything related to Arsea here. Maybe there's still something interesting I could find though. I rattle my brain trying to find something to justify being here. It's strange that I even felt the urge to come here at all. It would be even worse to leave awkwardly like this, however. Like the old man said, I'm the first fresh face he's seen in a long time after all. Just then, a thought runs through my mind.

     "Have you got any material on Gehenna?" I ask him.

     He gives himself a nod, and rubs his hands together for a moment. "This way," he tells me.

     We pass deeper into the library, and I watch the books pass me by. Oddly enough, I feel a pang of guilt at that. So many stories and so many words destined to never be seen. The old man is a good tour guide, giving a brief overview of each section while listing off his recommendations of each. Before long we reach a section dedicated to historical fiction.

     "This section is where the beliefs of our ancestors go. This is where heretics go to die," he gives a laugh at his own joke.

     "Thank you, um," my appreciation hangs in the air.

     "Bartholum is fine. And no, thank you for entertaining an old man. I'll be around if you need further assistance."

     I begin to turn around, when what he said registers with me. I spin around as fast as possible, but he's nowhere in sight. Did he just say, "Bartholum?" As in… no. Couldn't be. It's an odd last name, sure, but it can't be the only one of its kind. Even across… dimensions? Afeeling of dread washes over me. It has to be a coincidence. It wouldn't make sense any other way. So I push those thoughts, and this sinking feeling I'm developing, away and focus on books.

     It takes hours, far longer than what my lunch period is; hell, longer than even the amount of time I had left in school today, but eventually I stumble upon something that actually mentions this, "Gehenna." I don't know why I've felt so compelled to learn about it, but here I am.

     Supposedly, in a historical context, Gehenna is the place where an old king, Ahaz of Judah, sacrificed his sons either literally, or metaphorically for… reasons? Something to do with very old religions and practices starting around the time of the Rabbinic literature and when a couple of other religions diverged. But basically, the general meaning is, "Hell."

     Hell is an old concept of most religions, even if the word itself changes between the old languages. But basically, Hell is where bad people go when they die. I suppose in the old days, savages needed something to hold themselves accountable for their actions, seeing as how they couldn't be good just for goodness sake. One more reason we have nothing to learn from them. We're much better now.

     I would never avoid doing good- I don't need a punishment to keep me straight. Yet at that thought, I freeze, fingers still on the words of the book.

     I… am good. I know I am. My circumstance is merely different than anything anyone else has ever had to deal with. Yet… when you look at the sheer odds of it, what are the chances that I, specifically, am the one to have gone to another world, and been chosen to lead some bullshit life? In all of the universe, or maybe universes, if something like crossing them had to have happened eventually, then the chances of it being me is an almost zero number.

     I mean, the odds get even slimmer when you realise that the chances of me even have been born are almost non-existent. Then compound that with the fact that I am the one who crossed dimensions, and you approach as close to zero as you could ever be. So, obviously, no one else's circumstances could ever be even remotely close to mine. That does make me special. Domnis is wrong. And anyone who disagrees with me is wrong.

     Yet again, if anything is ever going to happen once, it will most likely happen more than once, given enough time. If we assume all of time and space, and even universes, are infinite, then it stands to reason that I'm not the first, nor the last. Perhaps there's others out there who could understand what I'm going through. If that's the case, if even a single person could understand me, could I face them with pride in my choices?

     Yet… thoughts of Rei are always within me, if only at the back of my mind. She said she was real.

     Rei told me she does exist, and that she wasn't in Arsea. That means we were communicating between dimensions, universes, whatever it is you wish to call it. Which means-

     I slam the book shut and stand from my chair. In a flurry, I'm shelving the book, and practically running from the library before I know it, not having seen that man again.

     Once outside, I run. I run from the thoughts inside my mind, and the judgement unfolding within. Yet as my breath runs ragged, a whisper floats through my mind, "You know it, deep inside don't you. They needed you, and you abandoned them." The words pierce me, and so I run harder.

     Before I know it, I'm home. Sweat covers me like a thick sludge, and a bath is all I want at this point. I want to clean away my filth, even that which I cannot see, and relax my muscles, that are sure to be sore in the morning.

     As the sting of the hot water accepts me, the bathroom door opens. In the doorway stands Gee, as natural as can be. I can't help but cock at eyebrow at her. But that's all I do. I don't feel flustered… or aroused. None of the feelings I would have thought I developed from Arsea touch me. Perhaps the effects of that world are finally fading.

     "I expected a better reaction," she calls out. I can't help but give her a shrug.

     "You coming in?" I make room for her. This seems to get to her, as her brow furrows.

     "Sure…"

     I may not be feeling anything for her, but that doesn't stop old habits from acting up. It's odd to say it's a habit, but I guess a more than a year of doing something counts. I can't stop my eyes from darting down, then up her form. Her stomach is tight, showing the barest hint of abs. Her legs are long and tone, and meet with wider hips than I would have expected. They end in well kept feet, ones that don't seem like they've ever been used for walking.

     Further up, past her abs, is a set of perky breast- if on the small side. Yet they suit her. Her chest gives way into beautifully long arms, that end in well-manicured hands.

     It's only when I meet her eyes, as I admire her face, that I realize she has caught me checking her out. A mischievous smile crosses her lips and she slides up next to me as she steps into the tub.

     "See something you like, my Zero?"

     "You're objectively beautiful, that's all," I tell her, as disinterestedly as I can. She doesn't seem to know how to respond to me being blunt, instead of flustered.

     "Ara, ara, then-" she leans in, and her lips connect with mine.

     The spark I was expecting isn't there. This kiss feels soft, and sure, nice even, but not electrifying. But she's taking the time to offer it to me, so I'll respond in kind. Afterall, I'm the reason she's stuck here in this world. I have to take what responsibility I can. So I reach around her neck, and pull her into a deeper kiss.

     Startled, she tries to pull back, letting her guard down. I don't miss the opportunity, and slide my tongue into her mouth. It's only after I've had my fill of violating her mouth, that I let her go. She's breathing heavy, and her face is red from something other than the bath.

     "Wow," is all she can say before looking away sheepishly.

     I have to admit, she may not do it for me, but she's definitely capable of being cute. Though I have to doubly admit, I'm surprised at how calm I am after all of that, even if I did it for the sake of responsibility. I guess the Zeroth's influence really is all but gone. I don't feel anything for another woman. I guess… I'm really me again.

     Guilt washes over me. I feel like my lie to the others was even deeper than I realized. I thought, deep down, near the end that maybe, just maybe, I really was capable of liking them, women or not. I thought deep down that maybe, even if I didn't wanna admit it, that they could have made me happy. But it would appear that wasn't the case. It seems that in the end, Rachel was wrong. You can't like someone only for their personality.

Or could it be just because... it's Gee?

Isekai, fantasy, with the core themes of Identity and Fate. Story contains a, mostly, lesbian cast.

Evangeline Sayagawa makes the ultimate choice at the cost of the ultimate sacrifice: She decides to leave her world that she fought so hard to return to, and return to Arsea in hopes of saving everyone. Little was she aware of just how bad things had gotten. The world she was returning to was cast into chaos and on the precipice of being destroyed. She awakens in this new kind of Arsea, after having witness the end of a dear friend. The world now belonged to the monstrosities of old, the Beta, and their corrupted human warriors, the Eld.

With her fake identity, that which defined her in this world, being stripped from her, she now has to navigate a darkness in which not even the women she loves recognize her.


The first "chapter" posted here is a hyper-condensed version of volume/book 1, in case anyone needs a generalized refresher of events, or for those who wish to start with this book instead as it is faster paced and more action-packed than the first one. Suffice to say, but most of the details from book 1 are lost by doing this; however, enough of the more-important information is present to allow one to understand the general idea of what is going on.

This book features a mostly lesbian cast and deals more so with fate and crises of identity more than anything else. However, there is much more action in this one than any of my other stories thus far and brings about the end of Evangeline Sayagawa's story arch... sort of.

Volume 1 Synopsis:

 Just when she was about to confess to the man of her dreams, Eve is taken by a light to another world. Swallowing her up, against her will, eroding her, it demands a life so contrary to her previous one. In a new world with the title of “Zeroth” forced upon her, she must rely on her newfound “friends” to stay sane and navigate her responsibilities.

     But bit by bit, the world loses sight of the girl inside; seeing only “Zero,” the person she did not desire to be, but the hero that the world needed.

     Will Eve let the title she bears consume her, or will she become the hero in both body and mind? This is the tale of her struggles, and a star-crossed love destined by Fate to never converge. This is the tale of Zero.

 "This little brother is Shi Yan Ming, the librarian of the Sutra Depository Pavilion. If you need to look up a book, you can ask him to help you."
 When the monk left, Wei Xiao Bei did not rush to enter the Sutra Depository Pavillion to go and read the secret scriptures. On the contrary, he curiously chatted with Shi Yan Ming.
 "What is this computer for?"
 Wei Xiao Bei pointed at the computer on the table and asked.
 Shi Yan Ming felt that it was funny and answered, "Could it be that benefactor Wei had never been to a library? This is used to record books and the status of borrowed books."
 Wei Xiao Bei's face immediately reddened as he did not think before asking.
 Although he did not go to the library much, he at least knew that every library had a managing computer.
 Perhaps he had been puzzled by how ancient the Shaolin Temple look that he had forgotten about this.
 How embarrassing!
 "I just never thought that the Shaolin Temple would keep up with the times and would have already caught up with modern society."
 Wei Xiao Bei could not help but sigh.
 "This is nothing big. Even the books that are kept inside the Pavillion have already been scanned and stored inside a hard disk. It's very convenient to look them up. Naturally, this poor monk still feels that looking at its original copy feels better."
 Perhaps he was showing off or really being honest. In any case, Shi Yan Ming's words caused Wei Xiao Bei to become a bit excited. 
 In truth, if he could, he was much more willing to have the hard drive copied.
 Unfortunately, it was an impossible thing to do once he thought about it!
 Perhaps because the number of monks that came to the Pavillion was very few, Shi Yan Ming was rather entertaining in conversation. From his words, Wei Xiao Bei came to understand many matters about the Pavillion.
 There were three floors to the pavilion. On the lowest floor various external techniques such as punching, kicking, and grappling were practiced. On the second floor, internal techniques and weapon techniques were found, including the Shaolin 72 consummate arts.
 The third floor was where the original copies of Buddhist Scriptures and treasured books were found. For the Shaolin Temple, these books were a lot more important than martial arts books.
 Thus, if Wei Xiao Bei wanted to enter the third level, he needed to speak with Shi Yan Ming and be accompanied up.
 This could not be helped. If any of these original copies of Buddhist Scriptures and treasured books were lost or destroyed, the ensuing problems would be huge. 
 Every single book was an antique.
 If Shi Yan Ming was a storyteller, he would definitely be a professional as his words had roused Wei Xiao Bei's interest.
 Wei Xiao Bei did not hold up any more of Shi Yan Ming's time as another monk entered. Shi Yan Ming apologized and served the other monk.
 Afterward, Wei Xiao Bei left the reception and went into the Pavillion.
 The Sutra Depository Pavillion was one of the most important places in the Shaolin Temple. The area that it occupied was very large. Looking at it from the inside, there were rows of bookcases that appeared as if rows of soldiers, making anyone who saw it feel awe at the glory.
 Wei Xiao Bei thought for a bit and walked to the first bookcase. Although the majority of the books there were string bound, they had been maintained quite well. He wore thin gloves that Shi Yan Ming gave him, took out the first book he saw and looked at the cover.
 Chuanquan (Boat fists)?
 The name was quite rare. Wei Xiao Bei opened to the first page and saw that it looked simple. Chuanquan was a traditional martial art from the coastal areas. Its creator was a fisherman, and it was a specialized martial art for use while on boats.
 Because small boats rock a lot and some were only the size of a table that could fit eight people, Chuanquan was very different from other land-based martial arts.
 To train Chuanquan, the most important thing to first do was to have a firm stance! Even if the wind blew and the waves rolled, the stance should be as firm as Mt. Tai!
 Other than firmness, it should also be light. When punching out and retracting it should be light and quick just like an arrow. 
 Although the technique was not famous, it was a thousand-year traditional martial art in the Jiangsu province.
 Wei Xiao Bei looked at the book very fast as the pages flew with a woosh. In less than 20 seconds, he had read the entire book. Moreover, he had already saved everything to his memory, including the images. 
 In truth, if he was not worried that the book might be destroyed, then he could have been even faster and finished the book in less than six seconds.
 It could be said that just this book alone made him feel as if he had benefited.
 It must be said that Wei Xiao Bei's martial arts were mainly Bajiquan, while his auxiliary was the Three Emperor Cannon Fist. However, these two were fist techniques, making his main focus full offensive in battles.
 However, in the Dust World, the situation could change erratically. Who knew if there was a need for him to go on the defensive or perhaps delay the enemy.
 On the other hand, the Chuanquan was mainly defense, supplemented by a bit of offense. It was to the point that training it required the user to not go out of the space of two-feet while the hands should be like doors.
 From this, the defensive nature of Chuanquan could be seen.
 Naturally, Wei Xiao Bei was only reflecting for a bit. He immediately picked up a book and flipped its pages.
 After Shi Yan Ming finished inputting the monk's records in the computer, he got up and went to take a look at Wei Xiao Bei.
 Although he did not know about Wei Xiao Bei's display the previous day, he had a favorable impression of him, thus he was worried.
 In the end, when he saw Wei Xiao Bei, he could not help but be stupefied.
What is this reading speed?
 Initially, Shi Yan Ming originally thought that Wei Xiao Bei was trying to find a book with how fast he was flipping the page, but after careful inspection, he realized that it definitely wasn't the case.
 Who flips the entire book until the end to find a book?
 If he truly wanted to find a book, he should only look at the cover and at most the introduction. Doing so should have been enough to understand the specialty of martial art.
 Could he truly have read the entire thing that fast?
 Shi Yan Ming frowned, but since he knew that Wei Xiao Bei was an outsider that could enter the Sutra Depository Pavillion, then it meant that the other party paid a hefty price.
 Entering the Sutra Depository Pavillion was no simple feat. Even the monks of the Shaolin Temple had to apply one day before to be able to enter it.
 In simpler terms, the Sutra Depository Pavillion was like a big company's classified database. No idiot boss would simply let other companies take a look at their own secret database.
 However, it is impossible for Wei Xiao Bei to simply go crazy like this after paying such a huge price.
 Then there is only one answer to this!
 He is truly reading the books!
 Although his occupation was a monk, Shi Yan Ming had also read manga. This was very normal as reading books could widen one's world view.
 Is he truly reading?
 Can he actually remember it?
 Shi Yan Ming touched his shaven head. He felt as if his world view had suddenly collapsed. He sat back on the chair and stared at Wei Xiao Bei with empty eyes.
Anyway, as long as Wei Xiao Bei did not destroy the books, even if he read that fast, he was still within reason. 
 Wei Xiao Bei noticed Shi Yan Ming's gaze from the start.
 However, even if he noticed, Wei Xiao Bei didn't slow down his reading speed just to cover it up.
 He simply had no choice as there were just too many books!
 After reading more than 100 books, he already noticed one thing. There were not many books that recorded purely martial arts. Many of them were records left by predecessors.
 For example, the books close to the Chuanquan were written experiences by Shaolin monks and some comprehensions by other martial artists. There were even some books that wrote improvements to it.
 In truth, these records were not inferior to the martial art scripture itself.
 In the beginning, martial arts were originally fighting techniques used by Chinese predecessors to fight against beasts. Afterward, they were developed through battle and became capable of killing. Over time, they had formed into various martial arts, from which many other variations originated. New ideas were born as time passed.
 These records had written down that same process.
 It could be said that these records contained senior martial artist's thoughts.
 In truth, if it was in the past, if people wanted to become a Cosmic Jing expert, they would need to learn and master more than 10 different martial arts and consolidate them.
 On the other hand, Wei Xiao Bei relied on his status panel and pushed his Bajiquan to reach the Cosmic Jing level.
 However, this was Wei Xiao Bei's weakness in learning martial arts, causing any further growth to stagnate.
 For him, the benefits of these martial arts records were imaginable.
 From entering the Pavillion at nine in the morning, Wei Xiao Bei had continued reading until he had been called out by Shi Yan Ming, triggering him to come to his senses, "Master Yan Ming, is something the matter?"
 Seeing Wei Xiao Bei's stupid expression, Shi Yan Ming could not help but laugh and raised his left hand, letting Wei Xiao Bei see his watch, "Is something the matter. It's already 11 o'clock, could it be that reading has completely removed your hunger?"
 "Ah, right. It's lunchtime."
 Wei Xiao Bei appeared as if he awoke from a dream and nodded his head and Shi Yan Ming smiled bitterly. 
 How could this guy be a Guo Shu Great Scholar, he is simply a crazy bookworm!
 Perhaps due to being cared for by the head of the Dharma Palace, Wei Xiao Bei's food had been directly sent to him from the kitchen to the Sutra Depository Pavillion. They had even brought Shi Yan Ming's portion.
 Shi Yan Ming had basked in Wei Xiao Bei's light.
 In truth, Wei Xiao Bei was not willing to delay his reading for food. If he was truly hungry he could just eat two pieces of barbecued meat.
 This could not be helped as he could not overstep what was normal.
 First, it was prohibited for people to eat inside the Pavillion as they could accidentally dirty the books.
 Additionally, even if he did not need to eat, Shi Yan Ming needed to eat. Moreover, he would need to run to the dining hall to eat, closing the Pavillion doors.
 Wei Xiao Bei would then have to wait outside the Pavillion.
 This trip back and forth was a lot longer compared to eating outside of the Pavillion.


One day, Wei Xiao Bei gets dragged into The Dust World, a post-apocalyptic world ruled by monsters from myths, legends, games, etc. He also gains the power to travel between it and the real world, as well as the power called the 'Status Panel'. With this power, he chooses to strengthen himself to explore the vast mysteries and terror of the other world. What mysteries await him? What is The Dust World?

What the hell is this? What the hell happened here?
How did my room become so ruined after a single night?
The floor and table were covered in dust, his new poster of Zhang Liang Ying that had just been posted on the wall a few days ago had already become yellow and tattered all over. Even Zhang Liang Ying’s beautiful face became monstrous as if an old devil was looking at him with a terrifying smile.
The walls were covered by a mist of cobwebs and the fruits placed on top of the coffee table were withered and rotted to the point that the mold on them had turned black. The fruits below even seemed to have turned into mush. The aluminium framed window that the landlord had just installed not that long ago was now covered in a layer of white ash and the glass was filled with cracks and covered in dust.
The computer beside his bed was also covered by cobwebs and was accompanied by an empty water glass with a withered worm inside of it.
Dust filled the air making Wei Xiao Bei choke as he tried to breathe.
Everything seemed to be ash gray without any light as if looking at television static.
After just one night, it seemed like everything in the room had aged for centuries or even millennia.
Mother… is this a dream?
This must be a dream!

"No, I think you got the wrong person," I replied as swift as I could.

"Ah, of course. Excuse me," he smiled, "you think I'd fall for that," he shouted.

I said, "in all honesty, I hoped you would," I wanted to throw a gesture with my hands, but couldn't as I was still in Veras arms. Now I seemed less rude than I actually was.

I saw a vein pop on his forehead, "I wasn't sure at first, but now I'm certain."

I really felt like there was something wrong with this family. How were they able to survive with that kind of aggression in their blood.

"Alright you got me, let's talk another time," I said, and gave Vera her que to walk away. She understood without any verbal communication and went on her way.

"Where do you think you are going," he shouted again.

"Vera ignore him," I whispered. 

We already had a character like him before, I did not need that again. 

"Vera," he growled, "stop right now."

"Pardon me, but we are currently occupied, please return another time," she told him with a clear voice and swiftly took of.

Unable to believe what she said, he shouted, "what is that supposed to mean," while he planned to follow us.

Vera then abruptly turned around and with a sharp tone spoke, "that means that you should get lost." Contrary to my expectations, her words seemed to have a persuasive power which made that guy stop his pursuit.

There was no way she was just an ordinary maid, was there.

What saddened me was that only his feet stopped, as his mouth was still fully functional, "Vera what gives you the right to interfere with our family matters," he asked, his voice as threatening as a barking dog.

"As a maid of this household, I have the duty to engage with it's affairs."

A bit surprised inwardly, but unwilling to show it externally, he rebutted, "what does that kid mean to you?"

Hey, I was supposed to be at least fifteen, I wasn't a kid.

"She is family," Vera replied, steadfast. But her conviction seemed rather comical, when I considered how she was still holding me, like a child held their favorite doll.

"Family, her?"

"Yes," she said in a interrogative tone, "do you see a problem with my statement?"

He was stumped by her hostile demeanor, "of, of course not, but her-"

"Alright, then we shall be on our way." She disappeared, twice as fast this time, not even waiting for her sentence to finish. 

The guy that was taller than not only me, but also Vera, became incessantly smaller, until he disappeared around a corner. That, of course, did not stop him from voicing one last sentiment, "don't think you can hide behind Vera the whole time."
His words echoed upon the walls, and by the time it reached me, was already silent.

"Excuse me, if I may offend you by stating we were family," Vera suddenly said, "it was the easiest way."

"I don't mind at all," I giggled, "in fact, I found his reaction quite funny. You seem to be rather cute yourself, seeing how he stopped approaching."

"Not at all, he was merely scared of my status, not my words. I still have a long way to go until I reach the level you are at."

"You shouldn't strive to become someone like me," I told her jokingly, "that reminds me, who was that person?"

"Huh, have you already forgotten him? The  again, it has been a long time since you were in this household, after all," she nodded," he is-"

"Wait let me stop you right there, I don't really care."

"Eh," she let out a sweet noise, "you don't want to know who he is?"

"No. If you gave him a name, I might mistake him for more important than he actually is, otherwise."

After all, If every person who had a problem with me, was to announce themselves, I might know more names than words. 
But in all honesty, it did feel more natural being approached by a male, instead of all these females who seem to be charmed by this body.

Vera gave a loud laugh and said, "I got it," she then twisted my head to face hers, "I was right to talk to you after all. Where do you want to go now?"

"To the library."

"The library? Alright then," she picked up her pace again.

Navigating through the dizzying interior of this mansion, we soon reached a familiar spot. It was an adorned door, conspicuously placed at the end of our path. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by that eccentric librarian again.

"Oh Agnes, back so soon," he asked, with a lifeless tone, making me unable to discern whether that was sarcasm or not.

"Yes, I felt like reading again."

"That's nice, come in."

"Vera," I nudged her, "put me down, please."

She was reluctant, but did not refuse. 
The moment my feet reached the floor, I entered the room full of books and their unique scent immediately hit me. It was a wooden smell, very antique, and lingered in my tongue like chocolate or coffee.
A powerful light shone into the library, making the normallly invisible dust into the air, sneak out of their shadows. They settled on the antique shelves, accompanied by spider webs, and the colorful books scattered around. The books were neatly aligned in rows, with only their back facing outwards. A stained carpet hid the wooden floor, while the walls gave way for strings of braided ivy.
A comfortable silence imposed the room, as if I went into another world. Only the white noise of insects scurrying around and the wind, using the papers as an instrument to play its melodies, reminded me that the world has not gone mute.
Every step I took, caused the wooden boards to creak, and roused the still dust to fling in the air.

"No matter how many times I enter, the sight of all this dust gives me difficulty breathing," Vera interrupted.

"Great, you don't have to enter then," I replied.

As soon as I said so, her ecstatic face immediately turned livid. Her previous glistening eyes had turned into a single shade of black and her face was drained of all color. She looked like a ghost. Or someone who saw one. Which would have been me, as her blanched face gave me quite a scare.
It was like I'd told her a family member died, her reaction made me almost feel bad for her. Well, almost.
Since she stood there unmoving, I decided to just shove her out.

"Wait here until I come out," I told Vera. If she heard me, I did not know.

"Was that ok? To push her out like that," the librarian tilted his head.

"Actually, you leave too."

"Eh?"

Before anyone could react, I promptly closed the door on both of them, leaving me alone in the big library. Just to be perfectly sure, I looked around the room, searching for a potential person, but there was none. Only then did I relax.

"Ahh, finally I'm alone," I groaned while flinging my fist in the air.

I slumped to the ground, letting gravity pull me down like a wettened sac.

"Uwah," I massaged my temples wih both hands, "so tired," I cried out.

What I really was looking for, was some alone time.
Talking can be unexpectedly hard, if the goal wasn't to only exchange information.
And since I arrived in this mansion, I had talked to more than 10 people, all with different types of motives. 
I needed a break afterwards, and there was no better place than the always silent library.

To collect my thoughts, I sat down at one of the many old-fashioned desks.

The most important thing was that I had a promise to uphold.
I promised Celestia that I was to show her a new world. A bit of an ambitious dream, I knew.
But not impossible.
The problem lied in the fact that the idea was too abstract. 
I could, just like in my last life, resort to terror and violence. 
That would be entertaining, but I chose that route before only due to my circumstances. There are far more better ways to deliver a message.

But no matter what, I knew that I had to resign myself to a life of villainy. It didn't matter though, since I was more suited for this kind of life.

Because I believed in something fundamentally wrong, I thought a world without rules was the best way to live.

Take Estella for example. A walking contradiction, who, even in her death, was repressed by the notions of this world.

Rules, they were rigid and stale in comparison to the ever changing world.
However it was also the rules that change the most, unable to adhere with the unshaken pillar of human emotions.

Contradictions, contradictions.

All a tale of hypocrisy, the thing I hated the most.

Now even more so, when it is the most precious people, those worth keeping alive the most, that die.

But in this world, in any world, it would be me that was seen as the contradiction. The person most worth dying. It didn't matter though, if the world changed to fit my ideals.

What I needed, to shape the world, my tools, if I may, were resources.

People, status, wealth and another important thing, magic.

Although I did not agree with magic in itself, I did find it to be necessary for my path.
Although I may not be suited for politics, I would need to immerse myself into them.
Although I had a hard time trusting people, I should seek those like-minded.

Seraph was the first person that came to my mind. A rather mysterious girl. However, she and I were similar, I felt it. And she did too. If possible I would like to know more about her, maybe even gain her support.

It was not a big problem if I couldn't, though.

"Hah," I breathed out.

I wanted to relax, but these thoughts kept me preoccupied. I shouldn't worry too much.

In fact, I should focus on another thing. The little game I had started in this household was slowly starting to unfold itself. There were still some necessary steps left, before I could unravel it, so I wanted to set them up as soon as I could.

I stared at the many books, either hidden in the shelves or strewn on the floor. If possible, I would like to learn the language, and read these books.
Books are items that showcased a lot about the current era. Whether it was the genre, date, author or content they all delivered info.
Fictions could reveal the state of a society. Were they happy? Cynical? Divided? All could be extracted by stories which were popular.
Non-Fictions could explain why the society felt that way. They contained statistics, facts and useful information.

So, even though I was not a fan of books, and the mere sight of them had made me feel sleepy already, I decided on giving my best to decipher them.

A book that had caught my attention the moment I entered, was a red book, supported with a golden frame. 
A picture of- what I assume- some kind of animal had been used as a cover. The animal was a fantastical beast, of which I did not knew the name of.
It was hand drawn, and made with a mosaic style, very similar to the the windows in cathedrals. The pages looked old and had a yellowish tint, but were still well preserved.
The book looked expensive, even amongst all the other books, which all had their unique designs.
Other things that I found interesting were a bundle of papers, handwritten and not properly bound, scattered on the desk. There was also a blue book with a crown and some scrolls sealed tightly with wax.

I took everything that remotely seemed worth noting and then began to immerse myself in them.

The well needed silence was soothing to my mind, as I looked over all these unknown symbols, intriguing graphs and beautiful artworks.

So when he saw a devil summoning ritual in the dusty corners of the city library, he didn't hesitate to try it out, this was his chance for greatness.
