“Neither can I!” Ritorureddo bleated as she grasped at her forehead.

“The Hub just disappeared...What the heck is this…?” Glancing back to the door, a blinding blue light flashed through the Lobby, a strange subtle warmth surrounding all of them.

POSITIVE REVIEW :

Hands down the best MMO story I've ever read. What makes The King's Avatar stand out are:

1) the level of realism - this isn't a vague fantasy genre meshed into the form of an MMO, these are real people playing a game, and the blend of RL and game life, the player interactions, World Chat, etc. really bring out the flavor of watching an MMO.

2) The insane level of detail - this author is amazing. No other story has this much focus on the reality of pro gaming, which includes physical skill, game knowledge, the ability to strategize and use that knowledge to their fullest advantage... Either the author himself used to be a pro gamer or he has top tier researching skills, but as a casual MMO player I recognize that even imagining these situations goes way above my grade. Recognizing an actual skill gap between myself and the MC - and not just "the MC picked up some magic stuff and became amazing through vaguely described training" - stirs up a ton of admiration not only for the characters but for the author as well.

3) The amazing, lively characters. All of them have enormous personalities. There are a ton of side characters that are hilarious or awesome and that I want to see more of because I know they'll be fun to read about. This is the opposite of most LNs who have disposable, flat, just-there-to-be-puppet side characters, or LNs who have side characters with tons of potential but are never developed (CD, I love ya but you toss out amazing side characters like tissues...) My favorite part of having all these great characters is the banter and the trash talk, especially in the later chapters when the big fish come out. Even the annoying characters have their charm...

4) Finally, it has to be said that the MC himself is pretty great. He's definitely more mature and interesting than most protagonists I've read about. It's a bit hard to describe him, but the way he deals with Sleeping Moon in the early chapters is one of the greatest marks of his personality. If the character were more immature he'd be focused on getting revenge and "saving face"; if the character were colder he'd just ignore everything and go solo lone wolf. But Ye Xiu? He's self-assured, but not arrogant - forgiving because he's there's no point in getting riled - but canny enough to calmly wring out advantages for himself even in seemingly bad situations. The main point is that things don't just fall in Ye Xiu's lap, he works for it and makes things happen the way he wants through experience, knowledge, or just plain old haggling. Of course, the universe doesn't revolve around his decisions, so it's always fun to read about how he has to tunnel his way through the ever-growing mess he's accidentally created for himself.
If you enjoy the concept of MMOs, gaming, and/or esports, I definitely recommend this!

CRITICAL REVIEW :

The main thing that made me stop reading this is the lack of knowledge of the author in terms of gaming, which resulted in unrealistic and extremely shallow game mechanics and/or events.
For 3 slightly more detailed reason why:
First off, this was supposed to be a depiction of the highest of level of gameplay from a pro-gamer, but I didn't see any semblance of it. Most stuff shown here were mainly unrealistic, and then common to slightly uncommon strategies, techniques, and game-mechanics. The author's portrayal of the MC feels like it's coming from a "fan" point of view, not from an actual high level narration/analyst/player. For instance, let's say you ask a boxing fan and a boxing analyst about a certain boxer about what makes him good. Most fans will answer you with "he's so good because he's fast, he's super strong, and muscular", because of the lack in technical knowledge, in comparison to the analyst who will show you stats, mathmatical stueff, physiological stuff, psychological stuff, and so on. This is what it is like to me when I read this novel, it feels like it was written by a "fan-knowledge" level person, which leads me to my next point, the authors lack of knowledge.
The author doesn't seem to know how things work, and generally how games work. One thing I can think on the top of my head is the APM. The MC has unrealistically high APM (3 digits, can't remember exactly), which is only obtainable from either hacking the game, or extremely unrealistic super human level of animation canceling (provided that the game can even perform such mechanics, because you know the author didn't mention it). I don't even know why the author mentioned APM in a first / third person almost shooter type of game in the first place. These sort of stuff breaks the immersion for me. I always notice these small flaws, which makes me skip chapters just to check if the author address them, but ultimately left disappointed because of the lack of explanation, not even a mention about these certain mechanics.
Lastly, too much grinding. People keep saying that MMORPGs are supposed to be grindy, but the thing is, we are not playing a game, we are reading a novel. Sure, you can grind all you want in a game, and it can give you satisfaction once you achieve desired level, or gained your desired item. But when reading a novel, all the stuff about grinding gives no satisfaction at all. All the million chapters spent on grinding could have been spent on world building, character development, plot twists, and so on. But no, half or a little bit more than half of the novel used for grinding. You must be really bored if you really enjoy reading all of them.

The young goose was certainly not on his A-game that day, or even his B-game. In fact even a "C" would have been a streach. He had easily snuck into the house of another tired salary man, like any other day. All it took was knocking a basketball down a flight of stairs while the human was trying to lock the door. Once distracted he waddled through the crack in the doorway, he knew his flat feet had certain sound to them as he walked. To combat this he had made sure to gently leap from the welcome matt to the rug. Luckily this house had a sofa, the kind he could hide under until he was sure the coast was clear. Was the wife or a child home? No? Good!

The goose happily waddled out from his hiding spot and looked around. The humans were typically boring, but this house had been the worst case of it yet. Everything was simply perfect! Every last object was symetrical and some shade of beige or brown. There seemed to be only one window, and it was covered by clean, plastic blinds. So dull!

No wonder why he pitied these monotone creatures! Just when he was starting to think that humans were catching on and didn't need his services. The day prior he walked into a cafe full of girls in weird, colorful costumes with cat-ears serving food covered in all sorts of outragously shaped sweets. As soon as he saw they weren't in need of enlightment, he lost the will to be stealthy and kcocked over a vase. The end reasult was him getting chased out with a broom. 

The trauma of that day weighed heavy on his avain heart. What was he suposed to do now that people were catching on? Was he to be another philosper to die without recognition for his work? Apparently not! He still had much work to do before he was ready to be kicked to the wayside! He flapped onto the kicthen's counter top and looked around. In the trashcan was nothing but empty packages of the blandest looking instant ramen possible. Why would anyone eat flavorless strips of boiled grain when they could try those weird dishes at that cafe? Luckily he was not only a stealth master but a cheif extrodinare! 

With a flap of his majestic white wings, he pulled the fridge door open. First he had to look for a creamy thing. He saw no creamy things. Oh duck poop! Luckily he knew another room with a creamy thing! He waddled down a small hallway and took a turn into an unsuprisingly drab restroom. There he spotted a metalic cone-shape that was definitely what he thought it was. He wrapped his beak around it and flew down. As he did so he spotted one of the human's tooth cleaning brushes on the grimy tile floor. How unsanitary! He picked up the brush and noticed the porcalian puddle bowl. He never observed what humans did with that thing, but he asumed it was for some cleansing purpose. So he dropped the brush in the white bowl, before picking it up and rubbing it against the towel. After that it was back in its propper place with the other brushes. The things he did without being thanked for. What a misunderstood creature he was!

With his can of cream in hand, well beak, he waddled back to the kitchen. He pinned down the can and nudged the tip carefully. Before he knew it the counter was covered in a blanket of white foam. Perfection! 

"Honk!" 

Now he needed toppings, lots and lots of delectable toppings. He made his was back to the fridge, which had been left open. He found a bottle of those pink, bubbily syrup drinks the humans liked. How wonderful! He nabbed the bottle and clumsily flapped to his foam mountain. Getting the lid off was tricky, so he decided not to! Instead he magestically took off towrdas the ceiling, and dropped the glass bottle onto the bathroom cream. Seeing some of the foam turn a nice shade of pink made him
honk in triumph once more.

Now all he needed were some colorful sweets to sprinkle on, and some fruit. He flapped around the room, looking for the perfect ingrediants for his cafe special. He wondered if the humans would be speachless with delight as he snuck off, as usual, like the lone hero he was. As he was making a few survalance rounds he found something interesting.

One of those "manga' things the human goslings were into. He looked at the cover suspiciously. On it was a crude illustration of what seemed to be the likeness of a male human, and by his side was a pink-haired girl with an frilly outfit similair to the cafe girls. "Honk?" So colorful! Perhaps...Oh that was genius! His beak bit onto the glossy cover and...

RIIIIP

...after a bit more tearing he had acquired some colorful things! Question was, were they sweet? Pressing his bill against the paper pile, and taking a sniff, wasn't satisfactory. Well that's fine, sometimes things taste better than they smell. He took one of the shreds and flicked it into his mouth with his toothy tongue.  Definitely not sweet but...

"Hrrrk! Hrrk!" It was lodged inside his long windpipe. "Hrrrk! Hrrrk!" Using every last ounce of gutteral streangth he had..."Blaugh!" He managed to cough out the scrap,
however he felt like his bowels had made a movement. He sheepishly looked behind him and realized that he relieved himself on the now coverless manga. Well he could not leave it like that! His mom taught him to be a gentle-gander! He noticed a box of tissues by the kitchen sink. He flapped up and yanked a square out, then it was back to the manga. He placed the tissue atop the steaming pile of goose business. Now they would never know!

Taking a billfull of the shreds, he flew up to where the spices were. He looked through the jars, and saw two with powdery white subtsances in them. One was salt and one was sugar, he had been in enough homes to know as much. Luckily he could smell the sugar. He nudged the jar of the countertop and it fell to the ground. He then dropped the shreds onto the pile of sweetener. He leaped down and noticed the sugar was not sticking. He had an idea! The goose took a mouthful of the sweet scraps, ran to the porcelain puddle, and came back. The now damp shreds were easily powered, and after that he would throw them onto the cream. He reapeted this process a few more times. Finally it was done, save for a fruit.

Looking back into the fridge, he saw something. It wasn't strawberries or balls of melon...It was better! Once again it was time to drop a jar down the fridge's top shelf. Hearing the sound of shattering glass on the floor would never not be satisfying. When he flew down he gazed at the most magnificent of fruits...

"HAWNK!" 

Pickles, adorable little pickles. What human wouldn't appreciate some pickles with their dessert?! They had that same pungent, earthy flavor as pondweed. They were tiny too, making it easy to transport them back and forth! After a few more moments of scuttling around and working his wings to the bone, it was finished! The perfect sweet feast! The only upsetting thing was that the syrup water wasn't staying on the counter, and began to drip down the gray cabinet doors.

"Honk, honk...honk!" Whatever, he did his best and the results could put those scantly clad, frill wearing human females to shame! He wondered how the humans would appreciate the fruits of his labor. 

Meanwhile... 

The NEET groaned, that was the second time his party got KO'd thanks to that incompitent healer. Stupid video games just weren't doing it for him anymore. He needed to get the other-world treatment and fast! Where an actually competent, and super cute, cleric girl would be there to meet him! Hopefully an adorable lolita cat girl, with a very feminine wardrobe. Sadly the only cute girl in his MMO guild was a dumb healer, who was actually a fat American man in his forties in real life. At least his daughter played with him...but she...

"HEY! Get the F#CK back here you wuss! DON'T RAGE QUIT ON US!" A female voice yelled from the speakers in clumsy, mispronounced Japaneese. He wouldn't consider her his type at all. For one, she played an edlerly, male, dwarf pirate. Two, she had a bad attitude and not in the charming  tsundere kind of way. Lastly, there was nothing girlish or innocent about that loser. She wore heavy-metal tees, spent her free time screaming to punk songs at karaoke bars, and was taller and more mannish than him. He couldn't wait for them to go back to the West and their own server. Why couldn't life be like an anime filled with cute moe girls? He threw his headset down and didn't respond to the girl's screetching.

His head jolted up, as he heard the sound of glass shattering. Was somebody breaking in? Was there a bomb? Something told him this was fate, that an isakai adventure was near! He leaped up from his seat and crashed through his bedroom door. He was finally going to encounter some dangerous situation, die like a hero, and get reincarnated  into another world surrounded by cute moe girls who would follow his every whim! No more being locked in his room, no more listening to a she-pig from the west scream in his ear! He was going to rise above his otaku status! He was going to...

"HAWNK!?"

...Kill a damn bird! The kitchen was in a disgusting state. His mom would totaly blame him for it too! How did that pest manage to cover the countertops in shaving cream?
Not only that but was that soda running onto the floor? There were also pickles...and weird colorful flakes? He catiously approuched the mess in the kitchen while the goose darted to the livingroom door in a panic. He picked up a sticky shred of paper, and recognized a familair moe eyeball. His special collector's edition of "Other Wordly Harem!" Where was the rest of it? He frantacly sifted through the foamy mess, and his eye caught a coverless book on the tile floor. He bent down and wrinkled his nose. Was that smell coming from the mess above or...He lifted the tissue and his pupils shrank in horor. He glanced at nearby shard of glass. That bird was finished! The goose, sensing that this human wasn't the most grateful sort, frantically tried to find a way out. How did this human not like his creation!? After all that hard work! How did he miscalculate the number of people home? It should have been zero! All he wanted to do was show humans how to be happy! After encountering a miserable human who ended herself at the train station he had made it his mission to bring happiness to this cold, cruel world. Was trying to be helpful so wrong? He could feel the darkness of a shadow loom over him, and he didn't have a moment to turn his head before...

SLIIIICCCCEEEEE!

The Neet gazed down at his blood-soaked hands. He had just killed a goose! He looked down at the cloudy red eye of the slain bird. It wasn't an MMO monster, but he managed to be the victorious hero! Looking back at the mess, he sighed. He got a trashbag for the goose and uncerimoniasly dumbed the bloody corpse inside. He then got to work cleaning since there was no was he was going to deal with the MMO-party's crap. 

Hours passed, and when his parents got home they were in shock of what had happened. Turns out that the goose had been a menace on the block, and its death was well celibrated. Within the span of minutes he became a talk amongst the elderly, and the next morning he got a call from the local butcher who wanted to take him as an apprentice. While he wasn't the most interested in jobs, he knew the man had an adorable otaku daughter that was half American but not like the metal-head at all. She was a cute, short blonde. He egerly accepted, and late that afternoon he, and some new friend, hung the annoying waterfowl's corpse for the neighborhood to witness. 

As the week went by the corpse became stained with the juices of the elderly widow's rotten tomatoes, and children had plucked out half its feathers. Finally the maggots had their fill of the corpse and the bones fell to the ground. The sucessful butcher's apprentice picked up the skull as a trophy, with his new girlfriend by his side. Oddly enough he ended up hitting it off with pig-headed mmo girl instead of the cutesy, but annoying, butcher's daughter. How odd he would end up liking the job more than the girl? Life was certainly something else, and he wouldn't have traded it for anything. To think he had been dumb enough to believe Isakai reincarnation was real! What a joke...

"With pleasure," Xuan Mu answered without a care in the world. When the grayed out name turned green, his sour mood changed for better.
"Such a useless brat, all you do is play games all day!" his father shouted furiously.
"Give me the name of his father. Such a useless son he has, let me teach his father how to raise a son," Xuan Mu answered emotionlessly.

The man went out angrily, and trashed at the door, closing it furiously.
Xuan Mu fully ignored his so-called father. His mind was fully on a girl's name. She only played MMO, but he wanted to try other games with her. Today, he invited her to a competitive play, just for fun. She agreed readily.

He was 11 when he first met her. She played the game for a year while he just started. They were too far apart. She noticed him first and was the first one to start a conversation. When she got to know his age, she got interested and started to chase him around the lake with hearts above her head, telling him how innocent he was for running away from a girl.

She helped him to level up. They chatted and played for at least five days before she suddenly disappeared.

The second time he met her, was when he was 13. The same game. She was there, this time as a shaman with the same name. And she remembered him! How? He was the only boy she ever chased around, finding it funny how he always ran away like a scared kid. He found it funny too, being chased around by a girl.

he was a monster. She helped him for 10 hours straight! What's wrong with her? But it was so cool. He never met someone who could play for such a long time, thinking he was the only one.
She left after three days, without words. If he came sooner, they could be together longer. Why did he always arrive right before she leaves? It was boring with other people. So he decided to wait for her, she seems to especially like this game. His avatar always stayed the same level.
While he played the games he liked, he would leave his small avatar online. Occasionally, he would try private servers too. When he saw someone with her name, he asked if it was her. But what was a chance she would have the same name? None of them was the real Bing Shi.

Their third meeting was in one of the new servers, which just came out.
Trying out new servers was like a routine for him, he lost hope already.
When he logged into the beginner village, an avatar with her username stood in the middle of the main square. Could it be her? After he asked, he got to know that it was really her! He couldn't believe his eyes! He felt so lucky to meet her again. Bing Shi was surprised that somebody could still remember her.
She had a higher level, as always...

『Bing Shi:』Whenever I meet you I feel like your sugar mommy, haha! Come, let me carry you.

Xuan Mu grinned. She could always make him laugh. She never talked to other men when she was with him, she found them boring compared to him. He felt giddy inside, she could make him feel so special and happy.
He tried to think up a way, to let him know unsuggestively if she was still the same as before, an untouchable girl. He liked it about her, how she didn't fall prey to other men easily.
She was very smart, talkative, and secretive. He enjoyed chatting with her as it was like a war of minds between them.
Sometimes he felt like she was testing him, judging his every move.

Now, they could finally play together.
He was about to ask her if she wanted him to teach her how to play but when he saw her message, his world shattered. He started hyperventilating.

He wrote the first thing which came to his mind and started to scratch his chest over his shirt.

〖 Stop it... Stop hurting... Why does it hurt so much?!〗

Imagine when someone suddenly appears at your lowest, makes you happy, and when you think you are the happiest person alive, they leave without words.

『Bing Shi:』I started to get too attached to you. But because you were the only one who I couldn't find fault with, I decided to inform you before I leave. It's like you were too perfect and I hate perfect things. They scare me.

His whole being broke down; he began to scratch his chest again and again to numb his pain.
It was only for three months! That's too fast. He felt happy that she felt attached to him but more than that, he was scared of her, leaving him! Did his nightmares finally become reality? Why was he feeling like this?
He hates his parents for giving birth to him.
He didn't want to be born.
Nobody asked him.
He hates this world.
He hates everybody.
The older he gets, the more hatred he feels towards everything.
Gaming could make him cope with it, numbing his brain from such thoughts. She could make his mind work even more. With her, his mind was overworking so much that he could even forget about his sick self.
She likes funny guys. He tries to be funny.
She hates suggestive men. He never suggested anything.
She doesn't like men who smoke. He doesn't smoke.
She doesn't like men who drink alcohol. He never touched alcohol before.
She hates men who are abusive towards their wives. He never abused anyone, he hates those men too.
She hates cheaters. He is not a cheater, he hates cheaters too.

『Xuan Mu:』Please, don't leave. You saved my life.

The sentence he typed out when he wasn't thinking. It was so cheesy that she might run away for being suggestive! He even started to hate his brain for destroying everything. He couldn't understand what's going on inside his mind. Why's everything so messy!?

『Bing Shi:』Oh, how?

The girl on the other side laughed at how cheesy it was. Usually, she would feel vexed, but somehow she could tolerate it from him.

He felt nauseous because of too much fear. He put his hand on his mouth trying to hold it in. But his face was full of tears.

『Xuan Mu:』I just hate everything. It wasn't my decision to be born, at least I wanted to make a decision when to die. I tried sleeping pills at first and almost succeeded but they found out. Now they don't even let me lock my door.

『Bing Shi:』I feel the same. But I love myself too much to hurt myself.

The girl on the other side started crying, the first time she felt someone could understand her.

〖 So she feels the same as me?〗

〖 I couldn't tell at all.〗

〖 ...But I don't love myself... I hate myself as much as this world...〗

『Xuan Mu:』But when I'm with you I don't have those thoughts. You are the only one I don't hate. Don't worry, we can always stay like this. Just don't leave, please.

〖 Please, let her stay, please, let her stay.〗

『Bing Shi:』Will you kill yourself if I leave?

She asked with her brain's permission.

『Xuan Mu:』I will.

He typed out seriously.

『Bing Shi:』So if you die I'll become a killer?

『Xuan Mu:』No! It's from my own will.

『Bing Shi:』Then let's continue being friends until you decide to take your life back. I'll keep it for now. But I'm not promising anything.
『Xuan Mu:』Just keep it. You can do whatever you want with it, but please, never leave without words.
He felt relieved, he could make her stay. He stopped his hand which was scratching his heart.

He confessed.

"Come on!" Deep Waters, the deeply enthused middleman, beckoned Old Broken over as he did the same to Gu Fei and Sword Demon; the eagerness he was currently showing rivaled that of a professional matchmaker.
"This is comrade Old Broken; he's the man I've been telling you about the whole way here." Deep Waters first introduced Broken Water Arrow to Gu Fei and Sword Demon.
"Hello." Broken Water Arrow shook Sword Demon's hand first before reaching for Gu Fei's. "How do you do?"
"Hello…" Gu Fei's gaze shifted from the person's hand onto the latter's face and managed to catch a glimpse of Broken Water Arrow doing the same with his eyes. Gu Fei smiled before letting go.
"Now, it's these two's turn!" Deep Waters' voice suddenly rose an octave, which startled the three men present.
"This man is Sword Demon. Old Broken, if you've been playing games for a time before, there's no way you wouldn't know of his name. This is the widely acknowledged no.1 MMO expert, and he happens to be a good friend of mine for many years." Deep Waters proudly introduced his friend.
Sword Demon was quick to show his modesty by saying that it was all in the past.
"This one here is Thousand Miles Drunk! What do you think, Old Broken? Know who that is?" Deep Waters asked.
"Oh… Of course, I do. I've long admired your work," Old Broken replied while looking at Gu Fei. Evidently, Gu Fei was far more renowned than Sword Demon in Parallel World, and as time went by, his IGN became less and less of a secret.
Seeing Deep Waters' delight, Gu Fei now know that Deep Waters had introduced Old Broken to the two like a child flaunting his favorite toy. At the same time, introducing them to Old Broken was another way of bragging. This man really…
Having his fill of enjoyment, Deep Waters finally returned to normal and turned his gaze on to the two. "Oh, yeah. What made you two specifically come all the way out here to look for me?"
"Nothing much. We just happened to be passing by Linyin City and wanted to see you in hopes of catching up and hanging out if you're not busy. Too bad you seem quite busy," Sword Demon replied.
"Oh, yeah. We have no idea what this City War is going to be like, so we're using all the time we have to research and drill. Wait till we become the masters of this city, and I'll throw a proper reception for the you two when you swing by again," Deep Waters happily declared, draping his arm around Sword Demon's shoulders.
"All right. You do your thing; we'll be taking our leave now." Sword Demon bade Deep Waters farewell.
"I won't be sending you off." Deep Waters waved goodbye at them as he plunged back into the foliage to continue learning more about jungle warfare with his men.
"That Broken Water Arrow isn't just your average gamer," Gu Fei said this to Sword Demon after walking a good distance away.
"What?"
"He's got a strong body, thick fingers, and coarse skin," Gu Fei replied.
"What… What does that mean?" Sword Demon asked back.
"It means that he's undergone kung fu training, and it's not just about the basics, either," Gu Fei answered.
"I think those characteristics are common for people engaged in hard labor as well, like a construction worker," Sword Demon disagreed.
"The key is in his grip," Gu Fei reasoned. "The strength he used was neither too much nor too little. It was a handshake that was just right, which means the man is someone who has practice controlling his strength. This is definitely a quality that only someone who has undergone specialized training can develop."
"Is that so? Why have I not noticed it?" Sword Demon looked at his right hand, the very same one he had used to shake Broken Water Arrow's hand. Earlier, he did not feel anything different about Broken Water Arrow's hand shake to those of others.
"Naturally, that's also because only people who have undergone specialized training as well can discern it," Gu Fei said.
"Does that mean he's a rather formidable person when it comes to PvP?" Sword Demon had a look of disappointment as he thought of Eternal Dominion and Gu Xian. Those men that had undergone rigorous training were on a different level from the common player.
"That may not be the case," Gu Fei disagreed. "I saw that his waist, thighs, and neck are rather thick – the man is probably the brawny type. He would've been difficult to handle had he chosen the Warrior job class, but since he's an Archer and his specialty lies in the Agility trait, it's quite incompatible with his style of fighting and built!" Having spent such a long time being baptized by the game, Gu Fei no longer simply focused on plain kung fu. Rather, he was now quite acclimated to the game setting and had became proficient when it came to the rules of the game as well. How kung fu could be integrated into the various job classes, stats, and skills found in Parallel World was the current focus of his research.
"Oh, you know how to use Appraisal on players now, too!" Sword Demon was astonished.
"Oh, no. I didn't use that," Gu Fei said.
"Then, how did you know he's an Archer?" Sword Demon asked.
"From his name, of course. Broken Water Arrow; he must be an Archer…" Gu Fei replied.
"That's not how things work!" Sword Demon figuratively wiped his sweat.
"But he is indeed an Archer, right?" Gu Fei smiled.
"That's right. He's a Sharpshooter even. Still, the way you came to that conclusion…"
"He he he! I was just pulling your leg. I saw the bow slung across his back," Gu Fei said.
Sword Demon was speechless.
"Are you sure you're abandoning the 'Daily Mission'?" Gu Fei confirmed one last time.
"I'm positive!" Sword Demon sighed. "He's a friend of Deep Waters; besides, this is a personal mission."
"Have you ever wondered why the League of Assassins has that man as your assassination target?" Gu Fei asked.
"What do you mean?" Sword Demon asked back.
"Isn't there a saying, 'Heaven is watching when a man acts'? While it is disputable if such a 'heaven' exists in real life, the system can be regarded as this entity in Parallel World. So while one may get away with their action from other players, but there's no way they can hoodwink the system," Gu Fei reasoned.
"So what you're saying is… that this person might be just like Cool Apple and is a PK maniac who has slain a lot he's pretty much numb to it?" supposed Sword Demon.
"I don't profess knowing what exactly that man did, but I feel that the quests or missions that the system put forth are not simply a random target on the streets for you to kill. While PKing was something the system condone sparingly, it simply would not manipulate and actively encourage such activities from behind the scenes, especially once we consider the heavy penalties the game imposes on PKers," Gu Fei said.
"You're getting better at understanding this game's design and rules," Sword Demon commended. Sometimes, Gu Fei's noobish actions really made the experts feel nauseated.
"No. I just bore witness to the pain many players experienced after being PKed…" Gu Fei said.
Sword Demon was silent for quite some time before he said, "What you said makes sense. Take competitive quests for example, this sort of PK that the system orchestrated will have lowered penalties for dying. We can have a clear idea the attitude that the system has adopted toward PK, and the understanding they have toward this sort of activities. Besides, the penalty of losing a whole level upon death is truly hefty, and this was an implementation they must configure into the game. Parallel World is unlike the other games, where new servers can be added every month or week, and the players can create a new account and start from scratch with the other players. In Parallel World, everybody is placed in the same server that encompasses the entire Parallel World. New players will always be behind the older players by the amount of game time they put in. I think this sort of heavy-handed death penalty is done to suppress the older players and ensure that the gap between the new players and them won't get out of hand. It is most likely that the reason players face increasing difficulty in leveling stems from the same intent, too. Plus, I dare say that this game has an eventual level cap and won't allow players to keep leveling indefinitely."
There was no doubt that Sword Demon was a veteran when it came to MMOs, so besides the content expected from MMOs, he was also well-versed when it came to discussing how MMO games operated.
"A level cap? Wouldn't that make the level leaderboards meaningless?" Gu Fei asked.
"That?" Sword Demon laughed. "That's nothing but something that this game has during this period of development to motivate players in spending more time online. Once the majority of the players reach the cap and the current leaderboards lose their purpose, other leaderboards will surely spring up to once more motivate players in competing with one another. Don't worry about it!" Sword Demon gave this answer.
Gu Fei sighed as he looked at Sword Demon. It was apparent how much the man understood the operation of MMOs and how cognizant he was of the many ways the gaming company used to entice players, yet in spite of all this, he continued to indulge in it as much as he did to the point he could not even quit it… Was he not the epitome of what it meant to love something to death?
"Okay, we've digressed enough. Back on the topic, just what do you intend to do with your mission with Broken Water Arrow?" Gu Fei asked.
"Uhmmm…" Sword Demon thought about it before looking at Gu Fei. "Speak truthfully; are you encouraging me to such a degree because you've discovered a potentially strong opponent and wish to fight him?"
"What nonsense! Am I really that sort of person?!" Gu Fei severely castigated with indignance.
Sword Demon held his gaze on Gu Fei before finally spitting out, "It's hard to say…"
"It is as what you've said; I obviously have to lend a hand if you can't handle the man!" Gu Fei said.
"Let's go look up his background first. We'll act if there's really something fishy." Sword Demon finally decided.
"Are we off to find Brother Assist?" Gu Fei shuddered slightly. A new mission that no one had experienced; Brother Assist was sure to completely devote himself to track, interview, and report everything he learned if they approached him… It was not an issue of bringing that man to fight, but it was a form of torture to bring him along for a quest. This was because Brother Assist had too many queries, and his thirst to learn and know things was a little overwhelming; a single quest would be butchered by the man's need to research every aspect of it. In a game where it would not be slow to grind levels through questing, this was most likely the reason Brother Assist had not broken through the ranks on the leaderboard despite possibly possessing the most knowledge about the game and spending copious time being online!
"It might be a little difficult for Brother Assist to find much about a player just from a name," Sword Demon rejected.
"You have a point. It would be a lot simple if this person belonged to the Ten Great Adepts." Gu Fei agreed with his assessment.
"Unfortunately, he isn't…" added Sword Demon.
"That's true…" Gu Fei nodded.
If Broken Water Arrow were an Archer among the Ten Great Adepts, there was no way that the fellow Adept Royal God Call would not recognize his name, for he would surely strongly request Sword Demon to kill off the man just to remove a potential competitor.
"Where shall we look for information, then?" Gu Fei looked at the MMO veteran for guidance.
"Of course, we'll begin with someone who knows the man in question," Sword Demon replied. "Let's go find Coco!"
"Who's that?" Gu Fei asked.
"Deep Waters' wifey, of course. Have you forgotten?" Sword Demon questioned in return.
"Have I met her before?" Gu Fei merely wondered about this.
Sword Demon thought about it, and he too could not remember if he had introduced Gu Fei to the lady directly. (Author's note: Okay, I'll admit. I myself can't remember if they have met.) (Translator's note: They have heard of each other's name and seen each other, but they haven't been formally introduced to each other.)
"What's the difference between asking her about Broken Water Arrow and directly asking Deep Waters about him?" Gu Fei asked.
"The difference is that they are two different people…" Sword Demon answered.
"Would she keep anything from Deep Waters?" Gu Fei asked.
"That depends on what it is, and this should not be something she'll tell him," Sword Demon replied.


He is a great fighter in real life, but he is mistakenly assigned a "Mage" job class in a virtual reality game! He is someone who uses power to conquer power, so he makes the most out of the mistake and transforms into a fierce Mage, versed in close combat, in the blink of an eye! By perfectly combining strength and spells, he uncovers a new path of gaming!

Fireball? Chain Lightning? Frost Mirror… Wait just a minute; I’ve come to practice kung fu! Spells have nothing to do with me! What’s that? I’m a Mage? Oh, right! I am a Mage indeed. But… Are you certain I’m one? Alright… Feel the might of my saber! My sword! My hidden weapons! What? You’re saying I’m no Mage now? Let me prove it to you if you don’t believe me! But even if you believe me, I will still show you just how unstoppable a Mage who knows kung fu can be!

He finished typing up the registration form online - name, email and username, the game looked pretty fun - the graphics were cutesy but not cartoony.

 

He downloaded the game with the speed of a Greek God... assuming the Greek God is on a mobility scooter - the game was almost eighty gigabytes.

 

He never actually played an MMO before - a good few FPS games, more strategy games than he can count and even a few sandbox games - but never an MMO - that's partly because up until recently his internet was too shit to handle constant multiplayer - but mostly thanks to his introverted nature.

 

When the game finally download he filled in the account details and clicked play - a "server select" menu appeared - but there was only one server that wasn't greyed out - it showed over five-hundred players online.

 

A message appeared in the centre of the screen, accompanied by an "ok" button, it read: "This is a short tutorial scene to help you understand the controls, you will design your character after completing it!"

He clicked "ok"

Another message window opened - "If you don't understand something, don't hesitate to ask the other players in the chat! Use the enter key to enter the chat!"

He clicked "ok" again and after screwing around with the controls for a few seconds he realised they were pretty standard for modern games.

 

He clicked enter to open the chat box allowing him to type, an icon appeared above his avatar's head, it looked like a chat bubble with three dots inside, when he typed in his message he clicked enter again and in the bottom left my message appeared alongside the dozens of other people typing.

[JohnWillStab: Does anybody know how to play this game?] he wrote, in about three seconds his message got buried under a dozen new messages completely unrelated to his one.

 

[XPhaxX: Hey, fam - if you need a tutrial - just go into the help menu!] The reply was in a separate window labelled "Private Chats" 

Seeing his chance he wrote back - this time no icon appeared above his head, it only appears when he writes on the public chat.

[JohnWillStab: How do I do that?] he asked back ignoring their spelling mistake.

 

A few seconds later he got the reply [XPhaxX: Hold 'ALT', then use function keys, I think F4 is the help one?] 

[JohnWillStab: Yeah - no... I'm not that gullible.]

[XPhaxX: Shucks...] 

[JohnWillStab: So is there an actual guide? Because the tutorial is... a little old fashioned.]

[XPhaxX: There's a help button on the login screen] 

[JohnWillStab: k, thanks.]

He logged out and looked for the button before realising he was lied to... 

 

 

He logged back in, appearing in the same forested area as before - his character stood on a patch of dirt surrounded by a forest of gold and red leaves, the trees had white logs and the grass was yellowy-green. 

[JohnWillStab: What the hell men?!]

[XPhaxX: You're asking for help in global chat... what did you expect?] 

 

Realising the chat was not on his side 'JohnWillStab' or 'John' for short decided to try and figure it out by himself - some keyboard tapping revealed the character was controlled by the usual 'WASD' keyboard keys, the camera could be moved by holding down the left mouse button and moving it.

 

On the bottom of the screen was a row of empty squares - he could click on them but a red error message appeared reading: "Missing Spell!".

 

After moving his mouse around John came to the realisation that there was a glowing, yellow circle below the feet of a small object near the edge of the dirt patch he stood on, he slowly navigated towards it and climbed atop the object... it was a mailbox,

 

Suddenly his character fell down onto the ground limply before standing back up seconds later - "Guess this is the ragdoll physics they wrote about on the box..." he thought.

 

After some trial and error, he right-clicked the mailbox leading to a new interface - boxes like those on the bottom of the screen except for two boxes - one had the picture of a sword, the other a scroll.

He clicked on the sword and another box opened - [From - Admin: Welcome! Before you begin your journey into this world - you must select a race and class - this zone is a tutorial and as a result, anything you do here will have no effect on your final character.]

 

After reading the message he clicked into the other box - the one with the picture of the scroll, [From - ???: DN'T DELETE ANY OF THIS!!!] Aside from the text there was also an icon below - it looked like a piece of gold [Gold Coin (x9,999,999)] the name and count of the item appeared when he hovered his cursor over it - he clicked it and heard the sound of coins jingling as his character became surrounded by bright lights and various sound effects. 

[Achivement unlocked! : First Gold!]

[Achivement unlocked! : Ten Gold!]

[Achivement unlocked! : Hundred Gold!]

[Achivement unlocked! : Thousand Gold!]

[Achivement unlocked! : Ten Thousand Gold!]

[Achivement unlocked! : Hundred Thousand Gold!]

[Achivement unlocked! : Million Gold!]

The messages appeared one after the other before quickly disappearing. "What the hell was that about?!" he thought.

 

The screen went black as a message appeared on the screen - [Create Character] below it was a button reading "confirm" so he clicked it.

 

He was taken to a character creation screen - [First, you must select a race! - Each race starts in a different zone and has different perks, so be careful which one you pick!] 

There was human wearing generic clothing standing in the middle of the screen, to the left were eight pictures of what looked like faces.

 

He hovered over the first one [Human]

[Humans are the most generic race - not buffs or debuffs! They start in the dry planes.] 

"That sounds like an alright race..." he thought before checking the other ones.

 

[Ogre]

[The ogres are a race of powerful warriors and shamans, the tough climate made them strong - they are stronger than a human but slower than them - they can go twice as long as a human without food or drink. Orge players start in the stone forest.]

 

[Wolfkin]

[Wolfkin are a race of feral beastfolk living in the wild glacier mountains - with both speed and strength greater than a human their weakness comes from the low health and inability to handle hot temperatures.

 

[Seafolk]

[Seafolk are a noble race of mages and healers, they are slower and weaker than humans - however, they can breathe underwater, swim faster and can replenish their stamina by being in the water - potentially allowing them to not eat any food. The major downside of the seafolk is that their stats are halved when they are on land.]

 

[Undead]

[Toakin sometimes called frogkin are a race of traders - capable of the highest non-combat move speed and no debuffs regardless of the terrain. However, they cannot eat cooked food and are inferior in every other way.]

 

The man was finding it difficult to choose between the human and undead - he knew he wanted to play an assassin like character - jumping off rooftops and tossing poisoned blades at his foes, so he settled on the undead.

 

The image of the human was replaced by the undead - next, he could select the gender of his character - he selected male.

 a 'decomposition' slider let him choose how badly rotted the body should be - '1' was basically a vampire - pale and with what looked like eyeliner but otherwise human - '10' was a skeleton, he chose a 1.

 

The 'race' allowed for the undead to be a different type of undead - like an undead seafolk or undead harpy, naturally, they wouldn't receive any of the given race's bonuses.

He decided to stick to an undead human.

 

After fiddling with the hair and facial features he decided on a black ponytail and handlebar moustache and a slight fringe.

 

There were four sliders - Age, Weight, Muscle and Height, he set them to his desired settings, the undead looked young - like he died in his mid-twenties, with visible muscles and average height.

The interface shifted to show three icons - a sword, bow and wand.

Since John wanted to be a staby-rogue, he selected the sword.

Below appeared a dozen or so icons - various weapon types appeared, axes, maces, long swords, short swords, hammers, dagger, flails, shields and whatnot.

He selected the dagger and tried to click the continue button - [You need to select two sub-classes! Pick another one!] 

 

Looking through the icons he selected the fist icon - "An assassin should know how to fight someone hand-to-hand, right?" the man though.

 

He clicked continue and the screen faded out to black one last time before it faded into a dull blue forest - like a dark, grey, blue-green forest - the trees had grey bark and the sky was cloudy and stormy.

 

Below he finally saw the icons - he hovered his mouse over the first one [Slash: deals 1 x (Weapon damage*strength)]

John closed the stat menu and decided to just head in one direction. After a solid minute of walking a small yellow message appeared in the corner of the screen [Speed +0.01]

He checked his stats page to confirm and his speed has in fact increased.

 

The next thing happened in a flash - his character burst into flames, he fell to the floor in a ragdoll state as his health drained down to zero in about two seconds. 

[Your character has died, you may wait ten minutes to respawn at your place of death or respawn at the nearest town now.] read the message.

 

He clicked the second option and appeared in a town - the buildings looked tall and gothic in architecture - with black fences and large windows - in perfect unison several NPCs called out "Stay back, undead!" as they charged towards him - John broke into a sprint (not literally, he walked at the normal speed) heading for the gates, he moved his camera to see what's behind him only to see that he was still chased by ten or so guards - and their speed stat was a lot higher than his.

 

Suddenly guards appeared from the other side of the gate and attacked John - killing him in a single slash.

[Your character has died, you may wait ten minutes to respawn at your place of death or respawn at the nearest town now.] he chose the second option again - he appeared a few meters away - he didn't even have a loading screen this time - the guards ran towards him and despite his strategy of "running in another direction" he got killed again.

JohnWillStab saw the man approach him - it was a human, with pale, almost white hair - the character was dressed in heavy-looking white armour - a massive shield and thick sword on his back.

A short beard clung to the man's jawline.

The armoured man drew his shield and sword and approached John - [Bonifacius: *Strikes the enemy*]

While Bonifacius was writing JohnWillStab ran up to him and started spamming the [kick] spell causing Bonifacius to keep replaying the "hit" animation.

[Bonifacius: thou art a stout foe! but I has't the pow'r of god on mine own side!]

JohnWillStab continued kicking the enemy, Bonifacius cast [Shield Bash] killing JohnWillStab instantly and knocking his ragdoll corpse flying through the sky and landing on the stone ground - he used the mouse to move the camera around to see where he was.

 

JohnWillStab was in the town again...

After reading for a while he realised it was 4:30. The laptop was still on. He remembered that he had set the gym time from 5 PM to 6:30 PM. He wore a pair of trousers and vest and went to the gym.

Supriya was starting to make dinner when she noticed that he was going out. " Where are you going ? ",she asked.

" Gym. "

She nodded her head and sighed while turning. Shuvam went to the gym. It was his first time going to the gym after a year or so. So he decided to stick with basic exercises for the first week.

At 6:20, he was done with all the exercises. He took a shower and came back. He once again started reading novels. He had dinner and at about 11 PM, the computer made an buzzing sound notifying him that one of the works had been completed.

The work for the terrain was completed. He then asked the 3D model maker to add trees that could be damaged due to reasons like chopping down, gun shots, explosives , etc and also add in any sort of roads and pathways. But the pathways were meant to be turned into unmanaged roads and pathways with potholes all over them.

This was scheduled to be finished after 1.5 days. He then remembered something and ordered the programmer not to make a in game video recorder which would record the video of the game without the need of any external video recording software. This was scheduled to be done after 10 days.

Shuvam would read novels or watch anime or read manga, his life just kept going on and on like that. But it felt really empty. He would always go to the gym at time and that was the only time he would get out of the apartment.

Like this a month went by, the 3D model makers had already created rivers , post apocalyptic styled buildings for all the buildings of Nepal, mutated versions of animals found in Nepal, a varieties of different classed zombies and a customizable character that would use the webcamera for making the in game character look like the real person.

The facial recognition system for this in game software was made by the programmer bot. The bot had also made a way of connecting worlds any country's bank account or any credit or debit card or PayPal or any other E-portals.

You would just have to select your country and all the lists for the banks available at that country or e commerce services available there would be there for purchasing or selling the in-game currency i.e. crystals.

The music for sounds made by any vehicles or zombies had also been completed but this time it had only taken 5 days.

The 3D modeller bots were currently working on an futuristic hand watch to display stats, weapons, vehicles, bases across the country and the AI inside the map. It was scheduled to to be done after 20 days when it started and 15 days were still remaining.

Due to the photorealistic effect of the 3D models and map, Shuvam had a worry that it would require high spec PC to run this game. So he asked Andy if anything could be done.

" It is quite easy. I will make the programmer bot to make a code that will ensure that except a few things such as compressed 3D models and animations the computer does not need to do anything. All the processing will be carried out in the server but first, you only have about 500 GB of remaining space in your laptop. So user is advised to use the $25,000 transferred to your account and rent some servers for us. "

" How much space do I need to rent ? "

" 100 TB for storing any games and 200 TB for the hosting of the game Crystal wars and storing any bots required in it. "

"..." he just nodded with a blank expression. He then went to Google cloud and checked the prices. He could rent 1 GB space for a price of $0.026 for a month.

He used around $8000 to rent 300 TB for a month. He had calculated that by the end of this subscription he would have released his game and it would start raking in money that could be used for the managing of the game.

The programmer not was then notified to make a program to use the server for computing. Shuvam asked Andy about the capacity of user this 200 TB could handle. It answered, " about 10 million. "

He would need to rent more space if the player base increased. He also asked the minimum specification with which the game could be played. He was a bit delighted when he heard the required specifications for his godly game. It required 3GB of free RAM, 750 MB graphics card, 2.1 GHz processor. This was pretty much manageable by any gamer. So he thought that this might help more people play it. It was also convenient to play as playing the game would require the internet speed of 100 kilobytes per second.

Nowadays this was a really small speed so he was ecstatic when he thought that even his brother back home could play this. He suddenly remembered someone else whom he could have given a GM account to and grew sad.

He had decided to put the issue back after all he couldn't let her memories get in way of his revenge. Making the first game and using the money raked in was the only way for him to get that sucker.

The college he wanted to go to was also starting admission. He visited the college and enquired about the fees. It had been increased to $ 9,000 for the whole course of four years. He went to the bank and paid the whole amount. He took the voucher from the bank and took his admission. Because of his ' act ' he had gotten chance to meet with the dean of the college.

The dean treated him well and chatted about the course and ow he was happy to get students. One  know that not many people were willing to do game designing in Nepal. People here pursue a little stable careers like being an engineer or doctor or pilot.

He realized that it would be a drag to not have a means of transport so he first of all went to a driving centre which teaches how to ride bikes. He issued the time 3-4 for a course of half a month.

Days quickly passed by. His game was near completion. Just a few tweaks such as last bit of zombie AI was remaining to be done. It would take another 10 hours for the AI to finish. Everything else had already been done. The animations, 3d models, controls, etc were done. There was also an auction house set up in order to sell or auction things. The game dev that is our Shuvam would get to shave off crystals from users at the rate of 5% per transaction.

The crystals were also up for sale. It would cost 1$ to buy 10 crystals. The crystals were the currency in the apocalyptic world. The crystals so bought could give one with some boost but it couldn't make you OP. It would at very best make you 20% stronger than common player base in case you could find someone to sell you their loots. All the revenue so earned would be transferred to a dark web account he had made earlier. After this month, he had ordered Andy to use this money to rent the servers and to hire the killers.

 The guns and weapons could be gotten after killing the zombies which are at least 1st class or higher. The vehicles were with the AI and could be bought if  your relation with a NPC was very good. It would still cost a fortune to do so.

Various guilds, mercenary groups, parties could be set up. Communication channels could be set up and you could chat using microphone or text messages.

Various classes such as weapon designer, vehicle designer, armor designer, etc were available. Recepies for such weapons, armors and vehicles could be found from various bosses. At first these classes may be crystal burning ones but later on after a month of release of the game, customization of the weapon would be available which would allow such weapons designers to make major changes in the weapons or vehicles and make custom tailored ones.

Various dungeons were set up too. All in all it was one of those advanced VRMMO games you see in the novels but this MMO game was one that you could play on the computer with a flat screen. The game was good. The photorealistic graphics was the main point and it could be operated from any average Joe computer too.

"Dewa Ye, kamu nak makan apa-apa?" pengurus Samsara sudah kepenatan dan dia pun berbaring di atas sofa. Selepas mendengar perutnya berkeroncong beberapa kali, dia terfikir untuk makan malam. 
"Oh, boleh!" Ye Xiu menjawab tanpa sebarang perasaan. Pada masa yang sama, bunyi ketikan boleh kedengaran.
'Hm?! Apa ni?'
Pengurus Samsara tiba-tiba tersedar akan sesuatu. Ini adalah pejabatnya. 'Kenapa saya duduk di sofa tetamu sedangkan tetamu saya pula duduk di kerusi dan menggunakan komputer saya?'
'Dia sedang gunakan komputer saya?'
'Dia sedang menggunakan komputer saya!!!'
Pengurus Samsara tiba-tiba melompat bangun. Mana mungkin komputernya boleh digunakan oleh orang luar? Ada rahsia kelab di dalam komputer itu! Dia pergi ke komputernya. Apabila dia melihat, dia hampir pengsan.
Ye Xiu bukannya mencari rahsia Samsara. Dia sedang menggunakan komputer untuk bermain Glory! Sudah berapa lama dia bermain?
"Lord Grim… oh… kamu sangat terkenal sejak pembukaan server kesepuluh lagi!' ujar pengurus Samsara selepas dia melihat nama watak Ye Xiu.
"Ha ha, terima kasih," kata Ye Xiu.
"Level 66, tsk tsk. Bukan senang nak naikkan tahap ya," kata pengurus Samsara. Lord Grim adalah watak Unspecialized. Dia tidak boleh melepasi tahap 50 melainkan dia menaikkan tahap di Heavenly Domain. Bagi pengurus kelab pula, dia tidak pula risau tentang maklumat remeh sebegini, tetapi kawan-kawannya seringkali bercakap tentang perkara ini.
"Ya, memang bukan mudah," Ye Xiu mengeluh.
"Nampaknya seorang lagi watak tahap Dewa bakal dilahirkan," ujar pengurus Samsara.
"Ha ha," Ye Xiu ketawa tetapi tidak menidakkannya.
"Berapa banyak 'skill points' watak kamu ada?" tanya pengurus Samsara tiba-tiba.
"Itu rahsia. Saya tak boleh beritahu kamu dengan mudah," jawab Ye Xiu.
"Haha, kamu sudah menganggap kami sebagai pihak lawan?" tanya pengurus Samsara.
"Sudah? Bukan ke saya sentiasa beranggapan begitu?" tanya Ye Xiu.
"Baiklah… saya rasa memang betul pun…" kata pengurus Samsara lalu tiba-tiba mengubah topik. "Nampaknya kamu dan Excellent Era sudah bermusuhan! Untuk sesuatu yang penting seperti ini, kamu terlebih dahulu menghubungi kami dan bukannya mereka."
"Itu bukannya susah nak faham kan?" kata Ye Xiu.
"Memang tak susah," pengurus Samsara mengangguk. Dia tahu mengapa Samsara adalah pasukan yang pertama sekali difikirkan oleh Ye Xiu.
"Kalau kita berterusan begini, saya rasa kita tak akan dapat mencapai apa-apa keputusan," kata pengurus Samsara.
"Tegas sikit! Sebutkan harga!" kata Ye Xiu.
"Apa kata kamu yang tegas sikit?" pengurus Samsara sangat muram.
"Sebab saya tak risau…" kata Ye Xiu.
"Baiklah!" pengurus Samsara tidak berdaya. Ye Xiu tidak ada apa-apa helah lagi. Dia sedang menggunakan kelebihan yang ada padanya. Ini sememangnya lambang seorang Dewa profesional.
"Macam inilah! Sekarang sudah lewat. Kamu pun mungkin dah penat juga, jadi pergilah berehat! Saya akan berikan kamu jawapan yang kukuh esok," jawab pengurus Samsara.
"Macam itu ya…"
"Kamu ada tempat tinggal? Kalau tak ada, kami boleh aturkan untuk kamu," jawab pengurus Samsara.
"Tak payah. Saya akan datang semula esok kalau macam itu," kata Ye Xiu sambil bangun. Mereka berdua menghadapi keadaan buntu sepanjang hari tetapi tidak berjaya mencapai kata sepakat.
Setelah Ye Xiu beredar, pengurus Samsara segera menghubungi bosnya dan melaporkan tentang situasi ini. Setelah mendapat kebenaran dari bos, dia segera menghubungi pelbagai bahagian di dalam kelab dan mengadakan mesyuarat pada malam itu juga.
Memandangkan Samsara tidak menetapkan masa untuk bertemu pada keesokan hari, Ye Xiu menuju ke kelab selepas dia sudah cukup tidur dan membersihkan diri. Chen Guo telah menempah hotel terlebih dahulu. Memandangkan dia tahu yang Ye Xiu akan pergi ke kelab Samsara, dia memilih hotel yang berhampiran dengan kelab itu.
Pengurus Samsara telah menunggu Ye Xiu tiba, tetapi dia kelihatan agak penat. Nampaknya dia tidak tidur lena pada malam sebelumnya.
"Macam mana keadaan kamu?" Ye Xiu tersenyum. Dia sudah dapat meneka mengapa pengurus berkata yang dia akan mempunyai jawapan yang kukuh pada hari ini. Pengurus pastinya telah mengadakan mesyuarat sebaik sahaja selepas Ye Xiu beredar dan mengukur nilai harga kaedah Ye Xiu ini.
"Dua perkara. Pertama, senarai 'quest'. Rasanya tak ada masalah kalau kamu berikan kami senarai nama 'quest' yang diperlukan, betul tak? Kedua, beritahu kami bagaimana kamu dapat mengetahui tentang kadar kebarangkalian 50% itu. Kami berharap kami akan mendapat bukti kukuh." Usaha pengurus semalam tidak sia-sia. Samsara telah bersetuju akan harga yang sesuai untuknya, tetapi mereka perlu memastikan beberapa perkara terlebih dahulu.
Perbualan pengurus dengan Ye Xiu pada petang semalam juga bukanlah sesuatu yang membazirkan masa. Pengurus Samsara faham bagaimana Ye Xiu boleh mendapat 1000 'skill points' daripada buku kemahiran. Dia memanipulasi butiran kecil dari 'quest'. Senarai nama 'quest' sepatutnya tidak menjadi masalah. Asalkan Samsara tahu nama-nama 'quest' ini, mereka boleh memeriksa 'quest' manakah yang sudah diselesaikan oleh watak-watak mereka. Selepas itu, mereka boleh menghitung kadar jatuhan dan boleh menganggarkan berapa banyak 'skill points' yang boleh mereka perolehi. Sudah tentu, mereka memerlukan bukti kukuh tentang kadar kebarangkalian mendapat buku kemahiran dari Ye Xiu sebelum berbuat demikian.
"Baiklah!" Ye Xiu telah menjangka perkara ini. Tidak lama kemudian, dia mengambil alih komputer pengurus dan membuka dua fail dari e-melnya.
Fail pertama adalah cara Concealed Light menghitung kadar jatuhan. Ye Xiu tidak memahaminya, tetapi Samsara mungkin mampu untuk memeriksa sama ada ia benar atau palsu.
Fail kedua adalah senarai nama 'quest'.
Setelah menemui kedua-dua fail ini, Ye Xiu turut meletakkan satu syarat, "Memandangkan kamu akan mencubanya, saya juga nak melihat mereka mencuba. Ada masalah tak?"
"Langsung tak ada masalah," pengurus Samsara tidak membantah.
Dia mencetak kedua-dua fail itu. Pengurus Samsara melihat data tersebut dan berasakan kepalanya sakit. Dia dan Ye Xiu pergi ke bahagian teknologi dan menyerahkannya kepada salah seorang pakar. Untuk senarai quest, dia mencetak 11 salinan lagi dan menulis nama setiap pemain Samsara padanya. 11 kad akaun pemain profesional sudah disediakan untuk ujian.
Pekerja Samsara mula menyemak senarai 'quest' untuk setiap watak.
Ini menyebabkan kekecohan yang besar berlaku di dunia Glory. Perkara ini sampai ke telinga para pasukan lain. Mereka mendengar yang pasukan Samsara telah mengerahkan watak-watak mereka untuk berlegar di dalam permainan pada waktu pagi tu. Mereka pergi ke Heavenly Domain serta server biasa juga. Kesemua watak bermain buat jangka masa yang lama juga.
Pusingan kalah mati hampir bermula. Samsara tidak sibuk berlatih, sebaliknya berlegar-legar di dalam permainan? Malah, seluruh pasukan profesional mereka terlibat. Apa yang terjadi?
Para pemain di dalam permainan sedang sibuk bercakap tentang ini. Pasukan profesional juga keliru. Samsara ada peluang yang bak untuk memenangi kejuaraan dan merupakan pencabar yang kuat. Tiada sesiapa yang berani memandang rendah terhadap mereka. Apa yang terjadi sebenarnya?
Oleh sebab semua watak sedang berlegar-legar sahaja, mereka tidak melakukan segalanya bersama-sama. Sukar untuk melihat sama ada watak sedang bercakap dengan NPC atau tidak, jadi tidak ada sesiapa dapat meneka apa yang mereka lakukan. Namun, tindakan mereka ini pasti ada maksud tersendiri, terutama sekali kerana ia berlaku sebelum pusingan kalah mati. Oleh itu, satu-satunya kemungkinan adalah watak Samsara sedang diperkuatkan.
Ini adalah satu aspek unik permainan E-Sukan yang berlandaskan konsep permainan Massive Multiplayer Online (MMO).
Jika watak mahu diperkuatkan, mereka perlu memperkuatkan diri di tempat yang sama dengan semua orang lain. Memandangkan Samsara datang bermain pada waktu yang penting seperti ini, apa lagi yang mereka lakukan selain memperkuatkan diri?
Namun, tiada siapa tahu mengapa mereka berbuat begini.
11 orang watak ini tidak melakukan sebarang 'quest' pun. Data untuk kadar jatuhan telah pun dianalisa. Tidak ada masalah dengannya.
Setelah mengesahkan 'quest' mana yang telah diselesaikan serta kadar jatuhan, Samsara dapat menghitung berapa banyak 'skill points' yang boleh diperolehi.
Tanpa mempertimbangkan tuah dan hanya bergantung kepada data, di antara 11 watak Samsara, 5 daripadanya boleh mencecah 5000 'skill points' maksimum manakala 6 watak lain boleh mencecah 4960 'skill points'.
