Chapter Fifteen At Least Something Good Came Out Of It

Harry made it down to the Black Lake for lunch to find Hermione waiting for him. He had stopped by the kitchen to get Dobby to pack a lunch for two and ended up with enough food for five.

"Harry!" Hermione practically shouted. "Did you put your name into the goblet?" she asked.
Harry shoulders began to sag and he said in a dejected voice. "I thought you knew me better than that Hermione."

I didn't think you would, but I had to ask." she said back sheepishly.

"So, do you believe I entered myself?" Harry asked, in a neutral tone.

"No Harry. I don't believe you entered yourself." She said with conviction.

"Ron does." replied Harry.

"Ron's just jealous. He'll get over it. He doesn't truly believe you would do it. He knows you better than that." Said Hermione.

"Whatever." Replied Harry, waiving off the comment about Ron.

"What are you going to do now?" asked Hermione. "Can Dumbledore get you out of the tournament? It's not fair that you have to compete with the older students."

"Yeah I talked to Dumbledore and he told me that I was obliged to compete or risk losing my magic." Said Harry.

"That's terrible." Responded Hermione. "That is so unfair."

"When has my life been fair?" Harry asked sarcastically.

At this Hermione gave him one of her bone crushing hugs, she pulled back and said. "We'll get through this Harry. You have my support, the first things we have to do is go to library and find out all we can about previous tournaments. Then we have to learn new spells, you have so much to catch up on with the other champions having three more years' experience than you. I'll start writing a schedule and we will start working on it right away."

"Hermione breathe." Said Harry. "I'm glad you believe me and I appreciate your help, but you have to calm yourself down. I am going to study and practice new spells but I going to do it on my own schedule. If you want to help me out that would be greatly appreciated, but this is my life on the line so I'm going to be doing things my way.

"But Harry, you need to take this seriously. I've heard that people have died in the tournament before." Said a flustered Hermione.

"I know Hermione, and that is probably why the bastard entered me into it, so I will get killed. I'm fully aware of what I have to do and I will do anything I need you to get through this in one piece." Said Harry

"Language Harry." Hermione automatically replied.

"Hermione, you're like a sister to me but you're not my mother. If you're going to be around me, and I hope you will be, you're going to be hearing much stronger language than bastard." Said Harry.

"Harry there's no reason to be impolite." Said Hermione.

"There's no reason to be polite either." said Harry.

"You'll lose points if teachers hear you speak like that." she said back.

"After my last discussion with Dumbledore I don't care what the teacher say." Replied Harry.

"What do you mean Harry? What did Dumbledore say to you?" asked Hermione.

"He gave me detention for what I did to Malfoy yesterday morning and I asked him what punishment Malfoy would get and he said that since he didn't make a threat it or draw his wand, there was nothing he could do." Said Harry.

"Well you did fire at Malfoy first." Said Hermione.

"And I will serve a detention because of that, but with Draco spouting off like that with no consequences proves that I will get no support from any of the teachers." Said Harry.

"That's not true Harry." she said.

"In all of your experience at Hogwarts, what makes you believe that?" he replied, looking at her with a raised eyebrow. Hermione had to think about that and had nothing to say, so Harry asked. "What do the Gryffindor girls say? Does anybody believe that I didn't enter my name into the goblet?"

"Nobody has said anything either way or I haven't pushed so I'm not sure. I don't think they believe you did it." Hermone replied.

"Let me know if you hear anything?" asked Harry.

"OK." replied Hermione.

They continued talking and eating the food that Dobby provided until it was time to go to their next class. Harry was glad that Hermione believed him and was willing to help them out. Hopefully his talk would curb some of her more bossy attributes. Time will tell.

Harry had dinner in the Great Hall that night. The responses were similar to breakfast the other day, if not a little more concerned about a violent reaction. He sat with Hermione and Neville, Ron was further down the table avoiding him. The twins sat down on the other side of the table from him and started with their twin speak.

"It's little Harrikin's…"

"…Youngest seeker of a century…"

"…Savior of little girls…"

"…Scourge of Dementors…"

"…The Fourth champion…"

"…Doing Gryffindor proud." Finished the twins together.

"Don't forget shortest champion." Teased Hermione.

"Hey!" exclaimed Harry at this last one.

"So what's between you and little Ronnie? He keeps saying you're a liar and a cheat." Said who Harry thought was Fred.

"He doesn't believe that I didn't put my name into goblet and that I don't want to be in this damn tournament." Out of the corner of his eye he saw Hermione flinch at his language, but was able to keep her mouth shut. Harry was proud of her. "Do you guys think I entered?"

Twin one replied. "Nah, we believe you Harry. If you say you didn't do it than we don't think you did it."

"Besides if we couldn't get in…"

"There was no way for you to get in."

"Thanks guys, I appreciate that, I think." Harry said.

"No problem Harrikins. Now that you're in the tournament do you think you're going to win?" said twin two.

"I just want to survive." answered Harry.

"I'm sure you can win." Said Neville.

"Thanks Nev." Replied Harry.

The rest of dinner was a quiet affair for Harry. Nobody really talked to him, and that was fine by him. The rest of the house tables kept sending angry glares towards him and most looked like they wanted to hex him, but did nothing. It looked like it was going to be another terribly year.

The next morning Harry received an owl from Barkaxe. There was a note and a silver ring in the envelope. The note said 'Need to see you about the tournament at 10 am today. Activation phrase is 'time is money'.' Harry figured he would spend the day normally then turn back time and leave from the Chamber of Secrets.

It was an extremely long day, it seemed like time moved slower than normal. Harry regretted not going to the goblins first then turning back time and repeating the day at Hogwarts. Finally the day ended and he made his way down to the chamber and used the Time Turner. Saying "time is money" he disappeared from Hogwarts and appeared in the familiar Portkey arrival room at Gringotts. He was led to Barkaxes office, who was waiting for him.

"Welcome Mr. Potter." Said Barkaxe when Harry entered his office. "Have a seat."

"I hope you have some good news for me?" asked Harry.

"Yes and no Mr. Potter," Said Barkaxe. "The bad news first. You are indeed required to compete in the Tri Wizard Tournament."

Harry interrupted him, "That was the one thing I don't want to happen."

"Understandable Mr. Potter. But there is some good that has happened because of your inclusion in the tournament." Said Barkaxe.

"What good could there be with me having to be in the tournament?" asked depressed Harry.

"Because of the wording of the contract, you are now considered an of age wizard." Said Barkaxe.

"What! What does that mean?" spluttered Harry.

"You now are Lord Potter, Head of the Potter family, and have access to all your vaults and are no longer affected by the restriction on underage sorcery. You also have a seat on the Wizengamot available to you now. You can sit yourself or choose a proxy to sit and vote for you while you are at school." Replied Barkaxe.

"Does this mean that Dumbledore is no longer my magical guardian? And who is the proxy for the Potter seat now?" asked Harry. "Wait, It's Dumbledore isn't it?"

"Yes, to both questions." Said Barkaxe.

"Does he know about my emancipation?" asked Harry.

"We found no reason to inform him of this, but if he has read the tournament rules closely he would be able to figure it out." Said Barkaxe.

'I wonder if Dumbledore will tell me about this? Probably not.' Harry thought. Out loud he said. "So he no longer has access to my vaults?"

Barkaxe answered. "Not anymore. We will deactivate any keys he might have in his possession. There is also another possible benefit to you in the contract, Mr. Potter."

"What is it?" asked Harry.

The way the contract is worded limits the tournament to one champion per school, but doesn't limit the number of schools that can participate." Said Barkaxe.

"What does that mean for me?" responded Harry.

Barkaxe said, "This means Mr. Potter, is that you as the fourth champion are no longer a student of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry."

"I have to leave Hogwarts?" said a shocked Harry.

"No, Mr. Potter." Said Barkaxe. "The contract is worded so that any participating school, of which you are now considered from, can request living quarters, have unrestricted access to the library, and can attend any class of their choosing. You are also not limited to the school grounds."

Harry was shocked silent at this. Finally he asked. "How does this affect me? Do I have to do anything for my own school?"

"You can choose who you want to represent you on the judges panel. Other than that there is nothing for you to do but participate in any tournament events" Replied Barkaxe.

Harry sat silently deep in thought. 'Since I'm not a part of Hogwarts any more I don't have to follow the school rules or listen to any of the teachers. I'll be back next year so I better not burn too many bridges. No matter what Snape can suck it. Too bad Sirius is still a wanted man, he would've made an excellent headmaster. The biggest prank of his life, he would love it. Maybe I can get Remus to be the Headmaster of my school. That would sure piss off Snape. Yeah, that's what I'll do. Dumbledore has no power over me anymore!'

Barkaxe interrupted Harry's train of thought. "There is still some paperwork you have to complete before you are officially Head of House. Sign here, and here…" Harry signed several pieces of parchment that Barkaxe put in front of him. "The Potter family ring is in the Potter family vault. It is up to you if you want to collect it. It is not required to wear it, but it would make it easier to convince people that you are indeed emancipated. Would you like to visit the Potter family vault now Mr. Potter?"

"Yes I would." Replied Harry. "Barkaxe, you said when I first visited you that I have several properties?"

"That is correct Mr. Potter. I will compile a list and have it available to you when you get back from visiting your vault." Said Barkaxe.

It was a long and twisty trip down to the Potter Family vault, #33. Harry handed his key to the goblin who opened the vault and stood aside. The goblin said. "I will leave you now Mr. Potter. When you are done, activate this rune," He pointed to a rune carved in the wall just outside the vault door. "and a goblin will be by shortly to collect you. Do you need anything else before I go?"

"No thank you, I will be fine." Harry said. The goblin turned around and left on the cart, leaving Harry alone. Stepping into the Potter family vault was a wonder to Harry. Harry could barely see the back of the vault from the vault door. There was a huge pile of gold coins directly I front of the entrance, and a pile of trunks that Harry learned had an expansion charm on the inside, that were filled with Galleons. There were barrels filled with raw and cut gems and precious stones. There was also many glass display cases filled with all types of jewelry. Suits of armor, clothes, weapons, furniture and books filled most of the empty space of the vault.

The biggest treasure for Harry was all the pictures and portraits he found in the vault. Here were many pictures of his mother and father. He found quite a few of a couple that he learned were his grandfather and grandmother. There were pictures and portraits of Potters going back generations. Harry knew that the portraits needed to be tied into the ward scheme of a residence for them to 'come alive' or have a special rune set carved on the frame that draws ambient magical energy into it to power the magic of the portrait, so he had to wait until he got to one of his properties or carved the rune set himself before he could speak to them. His parents had no portraits but his grandparent did, he was a little disappointed at not being able to speak with even a shadow of his parents.

Harry spent the next couple of hours searching the vault. He expanded his trunk and put several things from the vault into it. Several portraits, His grandparents included, plus many of the pictures went into the trunk. Several books, weapons, clothes and a few gems and pieces of jewelry joined the growing pile of stuff he was going to take with him. He also grabbed the Potter Lord ring but couldn't make up his mind if he was going to wear it yet.

Harry didn't want to leave but realized that he would be able to return at any time. Stepping out of vault he pushed magic into the rune. The vault door closed and fifteen minutes later a cart arrived with a different goblin. Ten minutes later he was back in Barkaxes office.

"I have prepared the list of your properties Mr. Potter. I have split the list into two piles for you. The first list is your residential properties. They are listed by your own personal properties and current rented properties. The second list is property that are being used by business in both the Magical and Muggle world." Barkaxe said while handing Harry two pieces of parchment. "I also put together a list of stocks you own in both the Magical and Muggle world." Barkaxe said while handing Harry a third and fourth piece of parchment.

All three lists were surprisingly long. It turned out that he owned a house near Hyde Park in London, and a property on the Lancashire coast near Blackpool, another property in France inMontpelliernearPalavas-les-Flots, and a property in Italy near Praiano. It seemed that the Potters liked beach front properties. There was also a property in Hogsmeade and a flat in Diagon Alley. These were only Potter personal properties, It turned out that there was no property listed in Godrics Hollow. Harry was a little curious about this.

The rental properties were another matter. Harry recognized a few names of students at Hogwarts, but most of the other names he had no clue about. The list had over fifty properties listed. The list of business properties was even longer. There were quite a few in Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade. Harry decided to examine the stock list later.

"How do I get to the properties in this list?" Harry asked, showing Barkaxe the Potter Property list. "And is there a way to have them fixed up and warded if they need it?"

"There might be Portkeys in your vault or we can provide a one time or permanent Portkeys to any of your properties, for a fee. We of course can fix any damage and ward any of your properties, for a fee. I would recommend acquiring a House Elf. They can travel to any property you own and can do most basic repairs and upkeep. Have it check out your properties and report back to you what needs to be done. Now that you are emancipated you can bond a House Elf."

'I wonder if Dobby will work for me? Of course he would. Maybe Winky will also work for me? I wonder what's involved with bonding a house elf?' Harry thought. "What do you recommend I do about the rental properties?" he asked Barkaxe.

Barkaxe responded. "I would have an assessment of current market value done for all your properties, personal, rental, and business, and adjust the rent to current rates. This is part of my normal duties so there will be no extra fee."

"Yes, do the assessment, but hold off on raising the rates until I have a chance to go over the information please Barkaxe." Said Harry.

"It will take a few days to complete Mr. Potter." Replied Barkaxe.

"No hurry. Is there anything else?" asked Harry.

"We have sold about ten percent of the Basilisk so far. 431,333 galleons 5 sickles, and 11 knuts have been deposited in your Sam Underhill vault." Said Barkaxe. "The cloaks and purse will still be a few weeks before they are ready because we have to cure the Basilisk skin before it can be used,"

'I'm never going to be able to spend all that money! Damn! Now that I'm an emancipated minor should I get rid of the Sam identity? No I can still use it to do things I don't want the Potter name involved with. Rons not getting a claok or a mirror anymore. Maybe… yeah, I'll give Rons cloak to Remus and still have an extra.' Harry thought. "That's fine. I was going to give them as Christmas gifts, so if they are ready by then it will be fine." He said. "Anything else?"

"We believe we are getting closer to utilizing the Horcrux to find the others. Our experts believe it will be accomplished in a few weeks." Said Barkaxe.

This brought Harrys excitement down a peg or two. "That's good. I should go. Will the Portkey take me back to the same place I left from?"

"Of course Mr. Potter. Have a good day, and congratulations on becoming a Lord." Barkaxe said, and then he called a goblin to escort Harry to the Portkey room.

He had a very important question to ask Dobby when he got back to Hogwarts, and a lot to tell Sirius. He had to look up what being a Lord meant in the wizarding world, is it different in the Muggle world? Is he a Lord in the Muggle world too? He had to train and get ready for the first task. He also had to figure out how he is going to handle Dumbledore and the teachers of Hogwarts. Look out Snape, Harry Potter is free

Chapter Thirty Three: The Alley

Narcissa finished her list for Madam Malkin's. She and Harry would be there for a while and so she had suggested that he eat a light lunch, with a promise that they would get something afterwards. "You don't want anything that will be too heavy, otherwise the clothes might not fit properly." She explained as Harry grumbled his way through a ham sandwich.

"We need to get you some proper dress robes for when you present yourself at Dumbledores trial. Though I do wonder if they'll require you to wear your Wizengamot robes over it...if so we'll make sure that your dress robes are comfortable enough. Then we'll need to get you some new clothes for school, you'll need new uniforms, that sort of thing." She looked down at her list, "Then of course, we need your muggle clothes. Nymphadora has kindly offered to take you into Muggle London to purchase those."

"Dora is coming with us?"

"Of course, according to Madam Bones she is to be your bodyguard whenever you go out. She's making her own list of clothing stores she wants to take you to."

Tonks was in fact making a list, but not just of clothing stores. She was ready for her own date night with her husband. The weird sisters are playing at 'The Scrying Bowl' tonight, we're not on the list now, but I'm sure that Lord Potter-Black and his young and beautiful wife slash bodyguard merit a pair of free tickets... Just then she heard a tapping at her window, That's Hes' owl. I wonder what she wants.. Tonks opened the window and allowed the bird to come in, "Wotcher Brygg, you got a note for me?"

Pennebrygge, aka Brygg barked softly and held out his leg. Tonks retrieved the note and read it. Damn, Hes is going to pass a brick when I tell her that I am in fact married to Harry. Ah well, nothing to do but fess up and deal with the mess afterwards. She sighed and took a different piece of parchment than her list and began to write,

So yeah, turns out that I'm Mrs. Potter-Black. Harry and I got married in a secret ceremony. Just us and the other two wives. Yeah, two... I'm the youngest one though, so I'm still the prettiest haha. Harry and I are going to The Scrying Bowl tonight for a concert. If you're around, stop in and say Hi.

Tonks (Or PeeBee, you know for Potter-Black, I haven't decided yet)

Tonks tied the letter to Brygg and watched the bird fly off. This will change my timeline a bit for the day, but not too badly. We'll meet with Hes and get a few drinks then go to the concert. Harry and I will probably stay out tonight ourselves. She grinned at the thought, considering how vocal Bella got, not too mention how happily disheveled Cissy looked Harry, if he didn't know what he was doing, did a good job of compensating. It's been a while since I've had some alone time with a handsome bloke.

Scene Break

Harry was certain that this day wouldn't end. They had already been at Madam Malkin's for what felt like three hours. Every robe had been wrong somehow, Narcissa was like a general inspecting her troops each time. She'd run her hands over one robe, decide the material was too rough, then when another came out she didn't like its color.

"Narcissa, why has everything been wrong? This is the best robe shop in town..." Harry asked her, Narcissa looked up from where she was inspecting the stitches on a black and gold trimmed robe and frowned, "You are the Lord of a Most Noble and Ancient House, absorbed into Houses Potter and Black are some of the wizarding worlds most famous and infamous Houses. I will be damned if I let you show up at the Wizengamot in last years rags. They are going to be judging you, going over everything you say and do with a fine toothed comb. I won't let them decide that you're just a child who knows nothing. I will stay here in this shop with you, going over every single robe in their stock until I find the right one."

Harry put his hand on hers, "Cissy, I trust you as my voice. If they think I'm some know-nothing child, so be it. They'll have to get past one of the smartest witches I know if they think they can take advantage of me. If they don't have something perfect, how about we ask them to make something custom?"

Narcissa smiled at the idea, well that and the feel of Harry's hand on her own. From her spot in the corner Tonks stifled a laugh at her aunt, Auntie Cissy's got it bad for our man...what did he do you last night? In any case I can't wait to find out for myself... She walked over to the pair, her hands tracing over the fabric, "I don't know, this feels pretty silky..I know I like the feel of silky things against my skin.." She said it softly, words meant just for Harry.

Harry looked to his youngest wife and grinned softly, "You do eh? Tell me, are there magical lingerie shops?" Tonks let her hair grow slightly pink, "They do, but I think I'll wait until your birthday to take you there.." She ran her finger down his robes again, "Tonight however, once Cissy is finished with you, you are mine. We're going to see the Weird Sisters tonight!"

Scene Break

Delores Umbridge walked briskly into the DMLE offices. Ignoring the secretary, she walked into Amelia Bones' office.

"Madam Bones, I need to speak with you at once. Someone has placed a full pardon in the Ministers paperwork and got him to sign it. Bellatrix LeStrange is out there somewhere! We need as large a squad of Aurors as you can find. You must capture that Death Eater quickly and quietly so that word doesn't get out!" She enjoyed the feeling of bossing around others, it was best, she felt, that people knew their place. She didn't like the look on the face of Amelia Bones.

"Madam Umbridge, no. Now get out of my office."

"No? There is a convicted murderer on the loose and you say you won't go after her?" Delores drew herself to her full height, which wouldn't even come to the chest of Amelia Bones if she stood, which she did. Towering over the much shorter woman, she continued to smile unpleasantly to Umbridge. "Again Madam Umbridge, no. LeStrange provided proof that she had been forced under a compulsion charm. She also, as a sign of remorse gave me a list...a very long list of names."

"Names?"

"Yes, people, some of whom work in this very Ministry that are openly or secretly associated with He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. All my Aurors are busy investigating those names. Perhaps instead of coming in here and bothering me while I'm working, you should see to your own staff and affairs. Now, get out of my office."

Umbridge smiled sweetly, the kind of smile she saved for people she especially hated, "Very well Madam Bones. But I promise you, if something happens and it is connected to LeStrange, then I will be back with the Minister, and we will remove you from this position and put someone in it that will obey the law." With that she turned and left the office, making her way to the lift.

Rotten cow, how dare she refuse to do her damned job...no matter. I still have my connections at Azkaban, I will send another group of Dementors after LeStrange...

Scene Break

Peter Pettigrew, aka Wormtail had been watching the street in his rat for a few hours now. Harry Potter went into Madam Malkin's with Narcissa and some third woman. He's not vulnerable here, Narcissa isn't any great shakes with her wand, but that purple-haired woman...I think I've heard the others talk about her, she's an Auror. The Dark Lord isn't expecting me back for some time, I think I'll just hide in the sewers for a while, either Harry Potter will kill Voldemort, or Voldemort will kill Harry Potter, in either case I will just stay a quiet little rat away from all of them...with that the rat slunk away into the sewers.

Scene Break

Narcissa had made some selections from the ready-made robes, "Emergency robes" she had termed them. Harry had stood there, allowing Madam Malkin's assistant to fit him. Narcissa and Madam Malkin were discussing a set of made to measure robes. Not just for Harry, Narcissa wanted a set for herself as well, "We will need robes that state 'We are Lord and Lady Potter-Black, do not try and treat my husband like a child, and do not consider me an empty headed trophy.'". Narcissa said to the woman as she swiftly began to take notes.

Narcissa had finally settled on two sets of black robes for each of them. Harry's would feature a deep forest green along the neck. Hers would be similar but with a pale golden trim. As she listened to Madam Malkin discussing the features, she found herself imagining dancing with her husband at a Yule Ball..

"You look so beautiful, Lady Potter-Black.." Harry says softly as he spins her around the floor gracefully. "I didn't think I would enjoy my dancing lessons, but when I imagined you being disappointed in my skills, I set out to master dancing. What do you think?" Narcissa smiles and kisses her husband, "I believe, my Lord Potter-Black, that should serve as an answer."

They are the envy of the dance floor and soon enough they are the only ones dancing. The crowd watches them, the women are openly jealous of her. She can feel Molly Weasley glaring at her, her and her husband in out dated formal robes that could not hold a candle to her and Harry's beautiful, handcrafted robes. "Let's stay out tonight, Lilith Anne is spending the night with Dora and Teddy..Bella and James are at the villa..Fleur and Sabine are in Paris visiting her parents. There's no reason we have to rush back.." His voice is soft, his eyes teasing her, somehow this marriage had become something so precious Narcissa pitied any witch who never got someone to look at them the way her husband looks at her.

"Lady Potter-Black?"

"I'm sorry Madam Malkin, I was thinking about something else.."

"That's alright my dear, but I wanted to know your opinion on these buttons for your dress robes.." Madam Malkin opened a small case of buttons and showed them to Narcissa, the third set were white gold with an intricate runic pattern.

"Those. They are perfect."

Harry appeared, dressed in the outfit he had came with her in. Tonks came up beside him, "Right, you've had him long enough today. Harry and I are going into Muggle London, and I doubt we'll be back tonight.." She grinned to Harry before looking over the robes Narcissa had picked out. "Not bad at all Cissy, you're definitely going to make a lot of people at the Wizengamot feel under-dressed. "

Narcissa merely smirked and turned to pay Madam Malkin, once the transaction was completed she kissed Harry, "Have fun tonight, we'll see you for breakfast." She apparated back to Grimmauld Place, leaving Tonks and Harry standing there.

"Alright Hubby, it's time I take you to get some muggle clothes. If you're good I'll slip into the changing room and give you a surprise.." She said softly as she drew up close against him and double apparated them away.

The news of Lockhart's cowardly escape spread through the castle like wildfire, girls who were previously besotted with the blonde defence professor were now shooting betrayed expressions at him.
Harry's plan would work flawlessly with the population of Hogwarts already willing to believe that Lockhart was now the bane of all existence.

*** Hogwarts Library, later

Harry was in the traditions section of the library, searching where one would find histories on the oldest pureblood families.
Harry opened one of the biggest tomes in the section titled, "Ye Olde Families" and searched under the letter P, surprised at the number of families under the list that had died out.

Harry flicked through the pages excitedly, finally coming to the substantial section on the Potters.
"The Potters are one of the oldest Pureblood families, tracing their bloodline in England all the way back to the Pre-Merlin eras. In recent times, the family has come under more liberal leadership, starting with 17thcentury rebel Pureblood Thomas Potter who used the significant weight of the family to pass the first of many muggle-rights laws and amendments passed by the Potter family in the most recent centuries. The Potter was, at one point, the richest family in magical Britain but in recent years their fortune has dwindled, losing millions of galleons in the wars against Dark Lord Grindelwald and Dark Lord Voldemort, under the leadership of Charles and later James Potter. However, the family still retains a large amount of their wealth, including their mansion, hailed to be the grandest building in Europe in the 18th Century, the peak of the Potters."
He had a mansion?
Harry's mind went reeling.
He knew the Potters were a pureblood family, but he expected that he would know if he owned a mansion.
British laws did not allow use of the family vault until one became of age, but the mansion was traditionally handed to the oldest family member as soon as the previous family member died, so Harry would technically have owned the place, and it's house-elves since he was one year old.
He would have to write a letter to Gringotts, Dumbledore as his magical guardian should technically have told him about the mansion when he joined the wizarding world at 11 years of age, but McGonagall mentioned that Dumbledore didn't want him to know all about his family yet.
Harry assumed that this was because Dumbledore didn't want him getting drunk on his power and buying into the pureblood nonsense, and while Harry still believed that Dumbledore has stuck his nose where it didn't belong once again, he grudgingly agreed that Dumbledore's reasons were probably for his good.

*** Next day, Gringotts

Dear Teller Griphook,
May your enemies blood taste the ground,
It has come to my attention that the Potter family has a mansion and that by standard british law, I am now in possession of it. Since all Potter holdings are managed by Gringotts, I was wondering whether I could get the location and the list of wards on the Potter manor,
May the gold of your enemies fill your vaults,
Your customer, Heir Potter.
Griphook read the letter approvingly, not only was the Potter heir courteous, he was also intelligent.

*** Next morning, Hogwarts

Harry opened the letter addressed to him, hoping for an answer.

The Potter manor is protected by a Tutela Fidelius, a variation on the fidelius charm which is anchored to the house itself, the knowledge can only be transferred to those whose names are written in the ward book.

A wave of old memories of a grand house flooded into Harry's head, memories of a grand renaissance style house returning to his head.
Within a moment, Harry knew what his next plan was.
He had to get to Potter manor.

*** Lockhart's class

Lockhart was putting more bravado into his latest class than he had before, trying to make up for his lost reputation, he didn't seem to blame it on Harry, which was perfect for Harry's plan.
"Sir, a lot of students want to learn how to duel… do you think you could handle a duelling club, maybe that will let people know that you truly know your stuff." Harry suggested innocently.
Lockhart seemed to brighten at an idea to regain his reputation.
"Great idea, Harry! I think that a duelling club would be a great idea."
"And sir, maybe after the first class, we could hold a duelling competition, separated by grade level of course, and the winner would challenge you."
Lockhart looked like he couldn't keep up with Harry's train of thought so Harry elaborated.
"Like the first through third years duel and the fourth-fifth years duel and the sixth and seventh years duel, then the three winners can challenge you to see how they stack up against real talent, of course, that would be you, sir." Harry said, making sure that there was no way for Lockhart to back out of the competition without seeming weak.
"Of-Course." Lockhart stuttered out, "We can hold the first meeting tomorrow!" he said, smiling weakly.

*** Next evening, Hogwarts

The Possessed student walked down the hall to the first floor girls bathroom.
Down the chute went the student.
The basilisk was waiting as instructed.
The serpentine voice of Voldemort spoke in parseltongue.
~Today, we shall hunt!~

Chapter 38: The Impossible Thought

Sirius stared at that name he had revealed with his spell, trying to force his brain to understand what it meant. Harry Granger wasn't really a Granger, but they knew that already. Harry was adopted, so he was Harry Potter by birth then.

Harry J. Potter. J for James.

Harry James Potter. James for his father.

Harry James – for his father – Potter, who looked eerily like James Potter.

"Prongs," Sirius breathed, too preoccupied by his own thoughts to speak with any real volume. "Please tell me you've a long-lost Uncle James."

The Chaser laughed lightly, "Sorry, Pads, I'm the only James in my family."

"Bugger."

"Why?" James finally looked away from Peter's magazines to see just how ashen his friend was. "What's the matter?"

Sirius could only shake his head and point, unable to voice what it was about the name that so concerned him. Somewhere in his head, the pieces were being rearranged according to the information the plaque had provided. It was an irritatingly incomplete picture, even with this new clue.

"Well, that is odd," James said, sitting himself down to read the plaque on Harry's trunk, wondering what it might mean.

"He looks just like you, Prongs," Sirius said, his voice hushed to a terrified whisper.

"It's a prank," replied James loudly and laughingly. "He's pulling our leg! Harry, come on out!" He stood and started poking his wand into every corner and nook that might contain the boy.

"He's in the library," Sirius replied, his eyes still fixed on the name.

"No, it's a prank," the boy insisted stubbornly. "He's had more than enough time to finish with Morven, steal my cloak and change that name. He's hiding and he's going to pop out any second now."

"Prongs," Sirius said, his voice hard. "Do you honestly think I don't know exactly where the bloke I have a secret crush on is at all times during the day? He's in the library. Trust me."

James fell back onto his arse and stared intently at the name before his eyes. Harry J. Potter. "Potter's not all that unusual a name."

"That isn't the problem, Prongs. It's enough to know he's been lying to us this whole time," he said, though there was more to his growing unease than just the lying; they all knew he had been lying to them, hiding things and keeping some very dark secrets. Sirius shot to his feet as the thoughts started flowing without filter through his mouth, "He said he had been a Granger for as long as he could remember. If that were true, he wouldn't have a trunk with his real name on it, now would he? If his name was just the simple, common sort, why would he have bothered to hide it unless it was part of a bigger secret?"

"What bigger secret?" James demanded.

"I think he really is your long-lost brother. I mean he looks just like you!"

"Middle name for his real father, remember?" he scoffed. "He'd be Harry Charlus Potter." The boy's condescending smile fell away as he looked again at the plaque. "I got my middle name from my dad, same as him."

"Prongs?"

"Nobody in my family has green eyes," he muttered, speaking more to himself than to his friend. "Nobody but Lily has eyes that green. And he turned poorly whenever we said he fancied her, properly poorly." His hazel eyes still staring fixedly on the name, he extended his hand. "Give me that list of yours."

Frowning, Sirius dug into his bag and pulled out the parchment, rumpled and torn from being scoured so often, and set it in James's outstretched hand. The boy studied it for several long minutes, his brow pulled together tightly and his eyes narrowed. A look crossed his face, one Sirius had not anticipated, a broad smile verging on rapture. "Impossible!"

"What?"

"It isn't possible," James declared, jumping to his feet and running from the room. Sirius chased after him, confusion and annoyance warring for dominance as he entered the common room and found his friend moving purposefully toward Lily Evans.

Cursing, Sirius turned away, stomping angrily back up the steps and parking himself before Harry's trunk. He studied the list as James had, same look of absolute determination on his face, but whatever the impossibility had been it did not occur to him as readily as it did the other black-haired Gryffindor. So he stayed on the floor, sorting the list and trying for the thousandth time to fit it together in a way that made sense. James had effectively put to rest the idea of Harry being his long-lost brother, but he clearly had another idea, one involving Evans and her eyes and Harry's reaction to her.

The door opened, but Sirius did not look up from his task even when James asked, "What are you doing?"

"Being aggravated, that's what I'm doing," he snarled. "You run off shouting about things being 'impossible' and don't tell me what they are when you know I'm at my wit's fucking end over this. So much for me being clever if I can't sort of what in the hell Harry's secret is."

There was a long pause before he replied. "Ever think he's got more than one? Might make it easier if you tried figuring only one out at a time."

"Real helpful," he scoffed and looked at his list again. "Now what was so impossible?"

"Don't know."

"You are an absolute git, Prongs," Sirius growled and glared at his friend.

"I know he is, so what does that make me?" the boy replied with something of a smile, his green eyes bright with amusement as they always were when Sirius mistook him for James.

"Oh hell."

Harry sat down beside him on the floor, and looked at the parchment in his hands, quickly reading the ever-growing list of oddities he and Remus had compiled. He 'hm'ed and snorted occasionally, but said nothing until he had reached the end. "So not been as careful as we'd hoped, then."

"You're not denying it?" Sirius asked, dumbfounded.

"I'm denying this one," he pointed to the very last item on the list. "I'm not secretly snogging Hermione. Never have been, never will be. She's like my sister, Sirius. That is just gross."

"Okay," he accepted the boy's answer and crossed it from his list. "Anything else?"

The boy's eyes darted over the list again. "No…" he said slowly. "The rest of it is annoyingly spot-on."

Sirius could not keep the smile off his face. "Well, since I have you here and in such a truthful mood, mind helping me with this? It's been driving me mad since September."

Harry considered him a moment before giving a slow nod. "I'll see what I can do."

"Dementors," Sirius said before he could change his mind. "Have you met one in person?"

"Several," the boy replied darkly, his smile dropping off his face.

Recognising the signs of despondency in his friend, Sirius quickly changed subjects, eager to keep his mood light and to keep him talking. "Have you ever taken History of Magic?"

Harry nodded.

"With Professor Binns?" he added, eyebrow rising with his curiosity. Harry said nothing in reply and offered no gesture other than a sly smile which pulled slowly across his face. Sirius tried very hard not to scowl. Having the boy there offering vague replies and enigmatic smiles was worse than having only the list and his confused thoughts. At least when he was alone he could pair the clues in whatever fashion he chose without worrying about Harry laughing at him.

"Tell me how you got your scar."

"Which one? I have several."

"I've noticed," Sirius commented. "Start with the manly and impressive burn."

"Dragon," Harry said proudly. "Hungarian Horntail, real piece of work that one was."

"Pull the other one," he laughed, certain the boy was having him on, but Harry's posture and smile did not falter with his disbelief. "You're serious? A dragon? What the hell were you doing near a dragon?"

He shook his head. "Can't tell you that."

"What?" Sirius balked and slapped him on the head. "You're meant to be helping me with this, not making more questions!"

"I never said I was going to make the list shorter," Harry said. "I just said I'd help. It's your list. You figure it out."

Sirius glared at him. "Git. What about the other scars, then?"

"Horrid teacher," Harry said pointing at his hand where the writing etched deep into his skin was still hidden by magic. "Coward," he pointed to his arm. "Very bad man," he pulled up his fringe and revealed the lightning bolt on his forehead. "I also have one on my ankle from my Aunt's dog and another on my elbow from when my cousin and his friend threw me into a construction skip… in case you cared."

"What's your cousin's name and address? I'll go hex him for you."

Harry grinned. "I appreciate the offer, but that wouldn't do any good at this point in time."

"Well, can't say I didn't offer to avenge you," he sighed and studied his strange friend. "Are you really from South Africa?"

Harry shook his head. "Never been there in my life."

"Is your middle name really James?" Harry nodded. "James from your father?" Again he nodded. Remembering the odd comment James had made before he ran off, Sirius looked at his friend's vibrant eyes. "Where'd you get the green eyes from? You said your mum, was that true?"

Again Harry nodded and Sirius paused, looking down at the list. Whatever it was that James had realised, he had done it with without Operation Not-Prongs. Perhaps it was not where he ought to be looking. He glanced again at the boy beside him, vibrant green eyes from his mum, middle name from his dad, wild black hair just like James's… "Whose hair did you get?"

"My dad's," he replied, adding, "Got most of me from him, actually. All anyone ever says I got from my mum are her eyes. Although, I've apparently got her temper as well."

Sirius thought it through again. Green eyes from his mum. Hair and name from his dad. A fairly common surname that he felt the need to hide. "How long have you known your real last name?"

"All my life," Harry said.

"Why lie and say you never knew it?"

He just offered a half-hearted shrug, "Dumbledore's idea."

"You really don't like him," Sirius observed.

The boy's face grew dark again. "He helped get someone I love killed. All his secret-keeping."

Sirius scoffed. "You're one to complain."

"Oi, I'm doing the best I can," Harry elbowed him sharply in the side. "I'd like to see you do better in my position."

"Perhaps I could if I knew what position that was," he retorted.

Harry offered up a grin. "That is your job to find out, Mr Black."

"You, Mr Potter—" He stopped as the name fell from his mouth. It was the first time he had said it aloud since reading it on the plaque, the first time he had connected it to Harry. He had repeated it countless times in his head, certainly, but saying it to the boy's face somehow changed the way he thought of the name, how he thought of the boy. Harry James Potter, with a common surname he thought it necessary to hide and the middle name of a boy he looked almost identical to. "Oh, hell."

Harry raised an eyebrow as he waited.

"You are related to James," Sirius said, unease colouring his voice and sickness twisting his gut. "You're not his brother. And he doesn't have any uncles you could be named after. He's the only James in his whole family…"

"Which tells you what?"

"That I'm fucked."

James moved purposely across the common room, trying and failing to keep from walking with his usual, assured stride. He had made a real effort to quell the motion, knowing his tendency to strut about the place annoyed Lily, but right now he was so confident he could not prevent the swagger.

He had a thought, a brilliant and impossible thought. It was the kind of thought he had dreamed of but could never believe would ever come true, but he had the evidence now… maybe.

He pushed through a pride of first years to reach a far corner where his red-haired target sat with Tildy, hunched low over a small table, whispering and discussing something that looked nothing like any assignment they had been given recently. At his approach, Lily slid the parchment off the table and Tildy grinned toothily.

"James!" Tildy cried. "How's your dad?"

"Much better," he said honestly. "Mum wrote that he'll be coming home soon."

"Fantastic!" the girl cried with far too much volume. She was clearly trying to distract him while Lily hastily folded the parchment and hid it in her bag. "So are you here to flirt with Lily? Would you like me to go?"

The girl in question blushed and glared at her exuberant companion, but James smiled. "No, actually, I was curious about the Grangers."

At the name, their smiles became fixed, rehearsed.

When Harry let him take Lily on a date in his stead, he had started to wonder about all the times he caught them together in the common room; all those instances when he had looked upon the pair with suspicion and jealousy suddenly made no sense. If the boy was willing to give up a proper date, then clearly he was not involved in a clandestine romance with the girl. They did, however, spend a great deal of time with their heads together, whispering, conspiring. There had to be some reason for it, but none came to him until now.

Now that he had the impossible thought in his head, he knew that it was because Lily was privy Harry's secret; Tildy, too, apparently.

He had intended to woo the information from Lily somehow, to take advantage of her growing fondness and find out what he wanted about the Grangers. It would not have been easy and it might even have endangered their budding relationship, but with Tildy's fixed smile, he had a much better plan, one that would get him the information he wanted and let him keep the girl of his dreams. The excitable girl would be much easier to gain information from; she was already bouncing in her seat from the effort of maintaining her silence. Tildy wanted to share, desperately.

"Do you know when their birthdays are?" he asked innocently, watching as their tension and nervousness melted. "Sirius is starting to get desperate and thought a massive party might be the way to shout 'I want to shag you' to Harry."

Lily frowned disapprovingly, a tinge of green touching her face. "I don't know, but I can ask."

"Thanks," he smiled again, unable to stop himself. "Out of curiosity, if I wanted to shout 'I want to snog you' what would be the best way to do it?"

Lily flushed a deep scarlet to match her tie. "A Hogsmeade weekend where you come as yourself might do the trick," she replied.

"I'll keep that in mind," he said and left them alone to recommence their whispering. He grinned as he set himself down near the fire to do some conspiring of his own. It had been far too long since he set his mind to plotting, so intent had he been on worrying about his dad, winning Evans and foiling Harry. Now, though, he had a new aim: Tildy Moorehead. Eager as she was to share whatever information she knew, the girl was a Gryffindor, proud, loyal and stubborn, and if she had promised to keep the secret then keep it she would; he would have to find the right way to approach her if he was to make her tell him everything she knew.

There was always stealing that parchment the two girls were debating; he suspected it would be a list of spells just like the one Harry kept in his pocket. He and Sirius had already gotten their hands on Harry's copy and found it to be completely useless to determining the great secret.

'Shame asking doesn't work,' he thought.

James paused, his mouth pulling downward into a thoughtful frown. Of all the things he had considered, that, surprisingly, had never occurred to him. Just ask.

"Why not?" he shrugged and stood, walking back to stand by the girls.

"Out of curiosity," James said again, "is Harry my kid?" He held Lily's eye as he spoke, watching those vibrant green eyes as they widened and grew more prominent against her paling skin. He had never seen anyone else with eyes as vibrant as hers, not until he met Harry. The boy had said she reminded him of his mum, and everyone thought him a relative of James. With his true last name revealed and knowing he shared the Potter's tradition of carrying on the father's name as a middle one, James had known the truth. It was impossible, but it was there. Harry was his son. His and Lily's. Seeing her enormous eyes, it was clear she knew it, too.

"Congratulations!" Tildy squealed. "It's a boy!"

"Who the hell is Hagrid?" Harry asked as Loki made his way out of Harry's arms so he was now on Harry's right shoulder.

"Ah, here he is now." Dumbledore said as he gestured to an approaching man, one who was the largest that Harry had ever seen.

"That's a huge motherfucker." Harry couldn't help but blurt out.

"Mr Potter, language!" McGonagall said.

"English." Harry replied.

"Hagrid," Dumbledore said before anyone else could reply. "I trust that you recognise young Mr Potter."

"Blimey!" Hagrid said when he caught sight of Harry, he stopped just in front of Harry. "Why, I haven't seen you since you were a baby Harry."

"And you saw me when I was a baby because..." Harry trailed off, waiting for the giant man to finish for him.

"I knew your parents." Hagrid smiled. "James and Lily, best wizard and witch I had ever met." Hagrid said, Snape made a snort of disagreement. "Ah, and who is this cute little fellow?" Hagrid said, gesturing to Loki.

"That's Loki." Harry answered.

"Hagrid, I would like you to take young Harry to go and get his school supplies." Dumbledore said as he handed Hagrid a list.

"No problem sir." Hagrid said.

"I'm sorry, what do you teach?" Harry asked.

"Oh...I'm not a teacher." Hagrid said. "I'm the gamekeeper."

"Okay...and do you do this for all students?" Harry asked.

"Uh...no...not really." Hagrid admitted.

"Hagrid will be more than capable for this task." Dumbledore said before gesturing Hagrid to come closer, Hagrid bent down so Dumbledore could whisper in his ear and hand him something that Hagrid slid into the inside of his coat.

"Oh, lovers." Harry said as he gestured between the two.

"No, they are not." McGonagall said, frowning at Harry.

"Oh drug dealers then." Harry replied. "What?" He said when he saw the look on McGonagall's face. "I don't judge."

"Well Harry, here's the Leaky Cauldron." Hagrid said as the two entered the Leaky Cauldron, a wizarding pub that you could walk through to get to Diagon Alley.

"Alright Hagrid," Tom, the bartender, said when Hagrid and Harry entered. "the usual?" Tom asked.

"No thanks Tom, I'm afraid I'm here on official Hogwarts business, taking young Harry here to get his supplies.

"Bless my soul, it's Harry Potter!" Tom said in a surprised voice, suddenly all talking and sound was removed as everyone looked towards Harry.

"It's Harry Potter!" Several people shouted as the whole crowd moved towards him.

Harry immediately decided that he hated it here, he felt himself get pushed around a lot as various people began touching him and shaking his hand. He heard different people say various things but he couldn't really hear as they all kept speaking at the same time. Harry's patience had gone out the window when he heard Loki cry in fright.

"That's it!" Harry snapped as he reached and grabbed a bottle from the bar, he smashed the bottom half on the bar, frightening those near him and began pointing the broken bottle at everyone near him. "Alright back up! Back up! Now! Back witch! Get back!"

"But why?!" One asked. "We're not doing anything wrong! We just..."

"You all were suffocating me!" Harry said as he glared at them all. "I don't appreciate being pushed around like a rag doll! I don't even know who any of you are!"

"The boy's right," Tom said. "stop crowding the poor kid! He finally comes back to the wizarding world and the first thing you all do is start going after him like he's a toy?!" Tom demanded, many of the members lowered their heads but they all looked embarrassing.

"Also why the hell are you all crowding around me for? How the hell do you all know who I am?!" Harry asked while Loki buried his face into Harry's hair.

"Of course we know who you are!" One of them said.

"You're Harry Potter!" A different person said. "Defeater of you-know-who!"

"I...I don't know who. Who the hell did I defeat?"

"He-who-must-not-be-named." Another answered.

"Well a name would be good right now!" Harry said in an exasperated tone.

"You mean you don't know?!" Tom blurted out in shock.

"Know what?!" Harry demanded.

"You defeated V...V...Voldemort." Tom said, he along with everyone else in the room apart from Harry shuddered. "The worst dark lord that the world had ever seen."

"I'm pretty sure I didn't." Harry replied.

"No but you have!" Another cried. "Everyone knows it! You defeated him when you were a baby!"

"Alright you all have clearly had too much to drink, I think it's time you all go home." Harry said with Loki nodding in agreement. "How could a baby defeat the supposed 'worst dark lord that the world had ever seen'?"

"Alright, that's enough of that." Hagrid said to the others before turning to Harry. "Come on Harry." Hagrid said before guiding Harry out of the Leaky Cauldron. "you really didn't know?" Hagrid asked with a frown.

"Fuck it," Harry said as he rolled his eyes and tossed the broken bottle away. "if nobody's going to talk and give me a straight answer then I'll just go and find out somewhere else. If it's as big of a deal as people say then I'll just find a book."

"I can tell you about it if you want." Hagrid offered. "I can..."

"I have made up my mind," Harry said, cutting him off. "do not make me change it."

"O...kay." Hagrid said just as they entered the Diagon alley.

Harry looked around, he saw a lot of witches and wizards moving around. He also noticed that they were all pretty much wearing robes, or at least all of the adults apart from a select few. Harry followed Hagrid down the alley, looking around as he did so. Harry caught the attention of quite a few people, partially because he wasn't wearing robes like a lot of them and also because he had a monkey on his head. A minute or so later they entered Gringotts bank.

"Okay what the hell are those?" Harry whispered to Hagrid as he gestured to the small humanoid shaped creatures with long, pointy noses and ears.

"Goblins Harry, smart and crafty creatures but not the most friendly of beasts, best stay close." Hagrid advised as they made their way up to a booth. "Mr Harry Potter wishes to make a withdrawal." Hagrid said to the goblin, the goblin looked up at Hagrid before staring at Harry in a slightly creepy way.

"And does Mr Potter have his key?" The goblin asked.

"Oh wait...here's the little devil." Hagrid said as he pulled out a key.

"Hold up, what's that?" Harry said as he pointed to the key.

"It's a key Harry."

"I know that," Harry said as he rolled his eyes. "but the key to what?"

"Your vault."

"My vault?" Harry repeated. "So this key is the key to a vault with a lot of money?"

"Yes." Hagrid nodded.

"Okay so why the hell do you have my key?!" Harry demanded as he looked at the key like a goblin would look at gold.

"Professor Dumbledore gave it to me." Hagrid replied.

"Why does he have my key?" Harry asked without missing a beat. "It's my key. Shouldn't I have my key?"

"You were not aware that the headmaster possessed your key?" The goblin asked with a frown, at least it looked like a frown, Harry wasn't entirely sure.

"I didn't even know the headmaster before today." Harry admitted.

"Hmm," The goblin hummed. "I think it's best that you talk with one of our employees. Do you have time to spare today?"

"Yep," Harry nodded, Loki climbed on top of his head and nodded along with him. "sooner the better please. I want my key and I want my money."

"Very well," The goblin nodded,. "Griphook!" The goblin called and a second later another goblin arrived. "Escort Mr Potter to meeting room three and then call the goblin in charge of the Potter family."

"Now wait here," Hagrid said. "Dumbledore told me to..."

"That is not my concern." The goblin cut Hagrid off. "Now do you have any other business with Gringotts?"

Harry didn't get to hear Hagrid's answer as he had walked after Griphook, he didn't want to lose the goblin because despite not wanting to sound racist they all looked the same to him.

An hour later Harry had left Gringotts bank, he was rather happy about what had happened as the goblin had explained several things such as how the money system worked, and unlike the other people in the pub they straight out told him why he was famous and gave him a recommended list of books to read. Plus they had sorted out the business with his key and vaults, the only reason he wasn't currently going after Dumbledore and kicking the shit out of him was because the man hadn't stolen any of his money.

"I don't know what Hagrid was on about," Harry said to Loki, who was sat on his shoulder. "those goblins were quite nice, weren't they?" Loki agreed and made a small noise of agreement. He then tapped Harry on the head and gestured to the exit of Gringotts and saw Hagrid coming out.

"Harry!" Hagrid said as he rushed towards him. "Are you alright?!" He asked and looked him over.

"Still alive." Harry shrugged. "Loki's alive too in case you're interested."

"Oh merlin, I need a drink." Hagrid sighed.

"Go and have one then." Harry replied.

"I can't." Hagrid said, shaking his head. "I've got to help you get your supplies and..."

"Hagrid me and Loki will be fine, won't we Loki?" Harry said, adding the last part to Loki who grunted in agreement as he nodded his head.

"Well..." Hagrid looked unsure.

"Come on Hagrid, please!" Harry begged with puppy dog eyes, Hagrid looked like he was about to agree but still looked unsure so Loki decided to help by also giving Hagrid the puppy dog eyes as well.

"Oh...alright..." Hagrid said, handing Harry the list. "I'll take a quick drink then I'll be off to find ya."

"Lovely." Harry said as he took the list and walked off. "Can't believe that that worked." Harry whispered to Loki.

"Come in dear," Madam Malikin, the owner of the robe shot, said when Harry walked in. "oh my, what a cute little animal." She said when she saw Loki.

"Thank you but I'd prefer not be called an animal." Harry replied.

"Um...right...well you're here for some Hogwarts robes, correct?"

"Yes ma'am." Harry nodded.

"Ah that's good, just stand on the stool there, you'll have to wait for a moment before someone gets around to you. There are two other people here."

Harry nodded and stepped up on stool, he looked at the other two people. One was a blonde boy with grey who looked was trying to make conversation with the other person, the other was a pretty girl with black hair and blue eyes and looked extremely bored. There was two assistants working on their robes. The two quickly noticed him though.

"Who are you?" The boy drawled and sneered, with that Harry had already decided that he didn't like him.

"Well that's the question isn't it?" Harry responded but didn't say anything else.

"Well are you going to answer my question?" The boy said impatiently.

"I haven't decided yet." Harry responded, earning a soft snort of amusement from the girl.

"What is that filthy beast?" The boy said, looking at Loki.

"This...is...a...monkey," Harry said, talking to him like he was an unintelligent by talking as slowly as he could possibly talk. "You...might...be...related."

"How dare you?!" The boy turned red while the girl placed a hand over her mouth to hold back laughter as the employees acted like they couldn't hear anything, even thought the slight curves on their lips gave them away. "Do you know who I am?!"

"You might be my monkey's cousin." Harry shrugged. "I mean you look the same...well not really...Loki over here looks better than you."

"Loki?" The girl asked.

"The monkey." Harry said.

"I am Draco Malfoy!" The boy said bringing his attention back to himself.



Dumbledore expected a weak Harry who lived with the Dursley's. He was not expecting a Harry who grew up on the streets and has no interest in playing a hero. After being abandoned in America by the Dursley's Harry learnt to survive using his brains and magic.

I'm doing this cause of corona and boredom.

CHAPTER 4: The Potter's Will

The following morning Harry was sat in his room quietly thinking about what had transpired between him Charlie and Bill. He didn't know how to deal with it and shortly they would be arriving to accompany him to lunch and then the will reading. He was brought out of his thought's by the sound of his daughter's beginning to wake.

"Good morning Jasmine, shall we get you up and dressed." cooed Harry

Jasmine just smiled trying to hold her arms out to reach him. Harry picked her up, changed her nappy and then began to choose one of the new item's of clothing to put on her.

"Shall we wear this pretty little lavender dress with white tights?" questioned Harry

"Right that's you done sweetie, let's get your sister now."

He placed her in the playpen, which Bill and Charlie had help set up yesterday.

"Hello Isabella, should we find something to wear too." enquired Harry

Harry changed her nappy and picked the same dress in a soft emerald green colour with white tights. Once they were both dressed and playing in the playpen Harry called for Dobby.

"Dobby"

"Yes Harry Potter sir, what can Dobby do for you?" exclaimed Dobby

"Dobby could you get me two bottle's of milk and help me feed the girls." asked Harry

"Yes right away Harry Potter sir."

By the time they had finished feeding them, their was a knock at the door. Harry left the girls with Dobby and went to answer it knowing it was Bill and Charlie. He opened the door and greeted them while blushing.

"Hi, Bill, Charlie." Harry said shyly

They all went up to his room to say hello to the girls.

"WOW"

"Don't those dresses look really cute on them and the colours are perfect." stated Charlie

They talked for a little while about the girls, then Bill said they better get moving.

"We should leave soon." declared Bill

Harry said goodbye to the girls leaving Dobby to look after them. They quietly left the house, not one of them speaking.

They all apparated and all appeared at the Leaky Cauldron, where they proceeded to a private room. They all sat down at the table, when a house elf popped in to take their order. They each order some lunch and the house elf quickly disappeared to get their order. There was complete silence until Charlie decided to break the ice.

"U mm... Harry we need to talk about what happened yesterday." stated Charlie

"I don't know what to say, I was shocked at the time, but I have known for a while that I prefer guy's." Harry spoke quietly

Bill and Charlie were slightly relieved that Harry wasn't against homosexuality as they both swung that way.

"That does not tell us how you feel about what happened between us." replied Bill

"I don't know, it's hard to explain as we have got very close since you two started to teach at Hogwarts. I'm confused because I know we are friends but I feel something more." answered Harry

Harry we don't know how you feel about this, but we both have been feeling the same way. At first we tried to ignore it as we were your teacher's and friends, but it only seems to have increased more during this year." declared Charlie on behalf of both of them

"We feel drawn to you more and more." declared Bill

"As you have probably seen I don't date much if at all, I have never really had the time, so I don't really have any experience on how any of this works." said Harry

"If you are willing to give this a go with both of us then we can start slow and move at a pace that suits you." answered Charlie

Harry looked between both of them and in a silent answer gently kissed each of their cheek's, while blushing profusely.

He was saved from further embarrassment by the arrival of their food. They ate with little conversation here and there, but soon the time approached when they had to leave for Gringotts.

As they were walking toward Gringotts they both noticed how nervous and quiet Harry was. They both looked at each other and nodded then they gave Harry's shoulder a reassuring squeeze.

They entered the bank and went to the counter stating their business and were soon escorted to the same office as before. As they entered the room they saw the other recipients of the will were already seated and waiting.

They greeted a few of the people they knew and took their seats to await Ragnok's arrival. They did not have long to wait as Ragnok walked in just as they got comfortable.

"Good afternoon everyone, Mr Potter." He said while inclining his head towards Harry.

Everyone in attendance was surprised at how the head goblin had greeted Harry. Ragnok seated himself, whilst he was arranging some parchment on his desk. He then proceeded to check all of the recipients were in attendance.

"Right let us check everybody who is meant to be here has arrived." said Ragnok

Another goblin stepped forward and announced all those that should be were present.

"Harry James Potter, Sirius Orion Black, Frank and Alice Longbottom, Remus John Lupin, Severus Tobias Snape, Serena Evans and Selena Lovegood." declared the goblin

All on the list were present except for the Longbottom's, Selena Lovegood and Sirius Black as they were all deceased.

Ragnok started to read James Potter's will as everyone was present.

I, James Andrew Potter, being of sound, mind and body do hereby leave this last will and testament. It is my wish to protect my family so in the event of mine and lily's death that my son, Harry James Potter should be placed in the guardianship of the following people and in this order.

Sirius Orion Black (1st Godfather)

Selena Lovegood (1st Godmother)

Remus John Lupin (2nd Godfather)

Sophie Li (2nd Godmother)

Serena Evans (Aunt)

Frank and Alice Longbottom (James 2nd Cousin)

Poppy Pomfrey (Friend and Healer)

Minerva McGonagall (Mentor and Friend)

Andromeida Tonks (Close Family Friend)

Amelia Bones (Close Friend and Colleagues)

Under no circumstances is my son to be placed in the care of Vernon and Petunia Dursley, they hate everything about magic and our would.

Everybody was shocked by the contents of the will pertaining to the guardianship of Harry and how Lily and James wishes were clearly not carried out. They all wondered how this was even possible as laws were in place to ensure a person's last wishes were completed.

Ragnok allowed this to sink in before he drew their attention back to himself, to continue the will reading.

To Sirius Orion Black, I leave the guest cottage at Potter Manor so you will always have a home.

To Selena Lovegood, I leave the sum of 20,000 galleons in the hope that you will succeed in your research of the unforgivable.

To Remus John Lupin, I leave you the deeds to the shrieking shack and the sum of 50,000 galleons to renovate it.

To Frank Longbottom, I leave the sum of 20,000 galleons, in the event of his death it will be put in to a trust fund for his son Neville Franklin Longbottom.

To Severus Tobias Snape, I leave my first edition of Salazar Slytherine potions book, a apology for my treatment of you while in school.

To my son, Harry James Potter, I leave him my title as the head of the Potter family and all the remaining properties, businesses, Land and Money.

If any of the recipients are already dead or have not attended the will reading, then whatever I left them will return to Harry. There are a few things that are for Harry to hear in private and a letter in which Ragnok will help you with.

Ragnok gave them a few moments and then continued with lily's will.

I Lily Marie Potter nee Evans, being of sound , mind and body do hereby declare this my last will and testament.

To Serena Evans my half sister, I know we did not know each other for long but I thought you should have some of the Evans family heirloom's, properties and a share of the Evans family money and jewellery.

To Remus John Lupin, I leave you my research notes looking for a cure for being a werewolf and the sum of 25,000 galleons to help you acquire the needed potion ingredients and equipment.

To Alice Longbottom my dear friend, I leave you the sum of 10,000 galleons in the event of her death it will be put in a trust fund for her son Neville Franklin Longbottom.

To Severus Tobias Snape, I leave the sum of 15,000 galleons.

There is a letter for Harry explaining all of the Evans family inheritance and a few things Ragnok will discuss with you privately.

Ragnok stood and announced that was nearly all of the will reading and that those other than Harry and his companions if he chose for them to stay, could move to a small waiting room. If they desired to speak with Harry, he would shortly join them. They all moved in to another comfortable room where refreshments were offered.

Ragnok picked two letters and handed them to Harry.

"Mr Potter, these are the letters stated in your parent's will, these are for you to read in private. Also I have to inform you that you also have a vault for the Godric Griffindor and Rowena Ravenclaw inheritance, which after you come in to your power's it will be a good place to research how to control them." explained Ragnok

"Thank you Ragnok, that seems pretty straight forward, I was wondering if you had a list of the properties I own with you today, as I need to find a new place to stay." Harry enquired

"Certainly, one moment." replied Ragnok

"Griphook, could you go collect a list of the Potter family properties as quick as possible." asked Ragnok

"Also could you arrange for a copy of all money transactions since my parent's death as I do not know who's had control over them." questioned Harry

"This will be done immediately and I can either send them to you or you can arrange a meeting so that we can go over them together. It is entirely up to you Mr Potter." informed Ragnok

"That would probably be better to arrange a meeting to go over everything Ragnok." Harry stated

Griphook came in with a small pile of parchment.

"Ragnok could you tell me if there are any properties ready to live in and what protections they have on them, please." asked Harry

Ragnok looked through the parchments and a couple stood out to him. He then informed Harry of his choices.

"Mr Potter there are three properties that are inhabitable at the current moment which are, Potter Manor in Wales, a cottage in Godric Hollow and a small villa in Florida." Ragnok supplied

"I think I like the sound of Potter Manor. What are the protections there?" enquired Harry

"There is an unplottable charm, muggle repellent and the Potter family magic, now keyed to you, which means it allows those who you want to enter but will prevent unwelcome guests." declared Ragnok

"I think I will have to check Potter Manor out." said Harry

"Mr Potter there is a family portkey and you will also have to put on the Potter family ring to activate the family magic to work for you." This also means that you will take over as the head of the Potter family, but I am sure Mr Weasley will be able to inform you of what this involves in the near future." explained Ragnok

"I think that is all I need for now Ragnok, could I get my family ring now as I would like to go to Potter Manor before the day is done." replied Harry

A couple of minutes later a goblin entered the room with a small black box that he gave to Ragnok, who opened the box and held it out in front of Harry telling him to put the ring on and the other object was the family portkey."

"The portkey will activate when you verbally state your destination whilst holding it and can take you to a few of your other properties as well. There is a list in the box of all the keywords you need for those locations." informed Ragnok

"I think that is everything I need to know today, but if there is anything else I will contact you, thank you Ragnok. I think I should go and join the other recipients to answer any questions." Harry told him

Harry, Bill and Charlie stood up and bid Ragnok and Griphook good day and proceeded to the connected room. As they entered everyone turned to greet him.

The first person to approach him was Remus who hugged him tightly to him.

"Harry, how have you been?" asked Remus

"OK Remus, coping day by day." replied Harry

"Would you like me to introduce you to your godmother and aunt. I know Sophie a bit better than your aunt as your mum only found out about her just before she got pregnant with you." Remus told him

Harry nodded his head in acceptance. Remus slowly guided Harry over to Sophie and Serena.

"Harry this is your godmother Sophie Li, she was a good friend of your mum's at school." Remus informed him

"Hi, nice to meet you, this is all a bit of a shock to me. I would like to get to know you a bit better as I don't really have any family left." stated Harry

"I would really like that Harry, maybe we could arrange a time to meet." answered Sophie.

Remus then turned towards Serena and said.

"This is Serena Evans, your aunt."

"Hello, I found out about having another aunt yesterday, it still hasn't sunk in." Harry told her

"I understand, maybe we could also make some time to get to know each other." suggested his aunt"That would be great, I can maybe arrange some time in the week it has been a busy few days for me and it's not over yet. I still have my godfather's will reading on Friday."

"That's OK Harry, I know you have had a lot to absorb, just owl me when you are free." answered Sophie

"Guys, I am afraid I have to leave now but hopefully I will see you soon." announced Harry

Harry walked over to Bill and Charlie to let them know it was time to leave, It had been a long 2 hours.

They all touched the portkey and reappeared in a enormous entryway, while he was getting his bearings five house elf's appeared before them.

An older female house elf stepped forward and introduced herself.

"Lord Potter, I am Maddy the head house elf, welcome to Potter Manor." she exclaimed

Maddy tuned towards the other house elf's and began to introduce them.

"Lord Potter, this is Mindy and Bindy who are married and their children Lindy and Cindy." stated Maddy

"Hello, please call me Harry."

"Just like master James, he always made us call him by his first name." explained Maddy

"Maddy, this is Bill and Charlie Weasley, you are going to be seeing them around a lot." Harry informed her.

"Nice to meet you sir's." Maddy said as she inclined her head

"Maddy would it be OK If I brought another house elf to live here." he enquired

Harry then proceeded to inform Maddy that Dobby would not interfere with the running of the manor as he already has a role.

"Maddy, Dobby will mainly be looking after my two daughter's." declared Harry

"Master Harry has children." exclaimed Maddy and the other house elf's in excitement.

"Yes Maddy, would you be able to have the master bedroom, two guest rooms and a nursery for my two girls ready by tomorrow lunch time." questioned Harry

All the house elf's began to jump around in excitement declaring that they would be.

"Yes master Harry, we will be able to have them ready. Would you like to choose where the nursery goes or would you like me to expand the existing one." enquired Maddy

"Could you show me the master bedroom, nursery and two guest rooms before I decide." stated Harry

The house elf lead Harry and his companions up the grand staircase made out of white marble. As they reached the top Harry could see that there was a hallway on both sides. Then the staircase continued on around forming a smaller stairwell on either side going up to another floor. They went up the right staircase coming out in to a corridor that ran the length of the whole building. There appeared to be ten to fifteen doors. They walked a about halfway down the right hallway and stopped in front of a larger door than the rest. Harry assumed this was the master suite.

"WOW"

All three of them gasped as they entered in to the most beautiful decorated living room. It was decorated with a warm red with gold ascents through out the room. Making it very cosy. They noticed five doors going off the room. The first door to the right went in to an empty room that Maddy informed me was the play room and they would decorate it however they wanted.

"Maddy, I would like this room padded in a selection of bright colours on both the walls and floor, that's all for now we can go in to detail later." Harry told her

They moved on to the one next to it, which had a double bed in it. Maddy said it could be made in to one or two rooms for Bill and Charlie. Harry turned towards them.

"Bill, Charlie do you want to share a room or have your own?"

"Harry, we have always shared a room so all that need to do is create two beds and we will be fine." replied Bill

"OK, Maddy just make the room for two beds." said Harry

"Do you both like the colours?" questioned Harry

The room was done in earthy browns and reds finished off with hints of gold.

"Yes Harry, it is very beautiful." declared Charlie and Bill

Maddy then showed them the middle room, which turned out to be an huge luxury bathroom with a bath the size of the prefect one at Hogwarts, a walk in shower, two sinks and a toilet all done in a pearly white with gold fixtures. The floor was white marble and the walls were covered in sparkling white tiles. He decided to leave the bathroom as it was and moved on to his room.

Harry gasped at the sight before him the walls were done in cream with gold details. A deep blood red carpet, a huge fire place with a white shag pile rug in front of it. The bed was the most amazing part of the room, there was a king-size four poster bed done in warm red wood. The drapes were red and cream voiles and the bed was covered in red and cream silk sheets, pillows and covers. There were a couple of doors, one to the right which when he entered lead in to a gigantic walk In wardrobe. The one to the left lead in to the nursery which was a bit on the small side.

"This room will have to be double in size Maddy to fit everything the girls have." informed Harry.

"Yes master Harry, how would you like this room decorated." she enquired

"I would like the celling to change from glittering clouds during the day and twinkling stars at night. The walls I would like it decorated with the scene of fairies that sparkle and flutter around." stated Harry

"Will it be ready by tomorrow lunch?" questioned Harry

"It will be ready master Harry." declared Maddy

"Oh Maddy, I have furniture for the girls room, if one of you could come and collect it in the morning." asked Harry

"I will send Bindy in the morning." she told him

Harry, Bill and Charlie said goodbye to the house elf's and returned to Privet Drive to inform Dobby of the move and to get everything ready to go.
