My first day of work.

So excited.

The seller of the house I had impulsively bought last night had taken pity on my now moneyless soul and left the furniture. 

So I had gotten to sleep on a bed with sheets and a pillow. It had been nice.

So now I got up extra early to take a run to the closest clothing store. Hopefully they had something for me that wasn't a weirdly cut tank top and shorts. 

An hour and a few dollars later, I walked out of the shop wearing dark ripped jeans and a grey t-shirt with a low cut back, falling off one shoulder. I kept my black and white Vans. It wasn't great, but it was the best I could do.

I also bought a pack of hair ties and a hairbrush, quickly pulling my silvery hair into a messy ponytail. 

Yay.

Now I was ready to face the day.

HA! As if that would ever happen. 

Chuckling quietly to myself, I made my away to La Café de mi Luna, pushing open the door and walking inside easily.

The dude from before was behind the counter, leaned over with his head resting on his hand. He looked like he was half-asleep. 

"Early morning?" I asked, walking in front of the counter.

He snorted and stood abruptly, struggling to wake up. 

"'Ello ma'am, how may take order?" He said sluggishly. 

"Umm, 'fraid I'm the ma'am who will be taking the orders. Go take a nap." I said, walking behind the counter and pushing him towards the back room.

"Oh, yeah. I did hire someone yesterday. What was your name again?" He said slowly. 

I had never told him my name. 

Do I dare say it? 

I barely even knew my name. What was it again?

Reiti Evangelion River. 

Huh. Interesting name. 

"Eva." I said quickly. Middle name was okay, right? 

"Cool. Have fun working the counters." He said, and I left him alone in the messiest excuse for an office I had ever seen. 

I walked back out, chilling at the counters. Knowing most people, a small rush would probably start soon. In order to wake up and make it to a job, most needed coffee.

True to my thoughts, a group of people waddled in like zombies. It only got worse after that. 

Just as I began to struggle remembering everything and keeping track of every drink and person, the rush stopped as quickly as it had started. 

The shop was deserted. 

Work calls.

Too bad I was already at mine.

I stretched, making myself a caramel frappe and sitting at a nearby table. I wish I had brought something to do. A phone would have to be next on my list of the things. 

Until that happened, I needed to grab a book or something. Palm Springs had to have at least one book store. 

I stuck my head in the chaotic office, and saw the man awake, playing on his phone. 

"Heading out for a minute, watch the counter." I called, then walked out.

Bookstore. 

Where would I find one of those? 

Not as a human, most likely. 

Sighing, I scanned for any nearby people before shifting into the silver wolf. What was I scenting out? 

That amazing new book smell. 

Taking off into the air, I lifted my nose and inhaled. It wasn't over here, that's for sure. People smoke way too much in this town. 

After flying for a minute, I managed to get a whiff of that amazing book smell. Following it, I found a small little bookstore. 

El Libros de mi Corazón 

The books of my heart.

Seriously? Spanish? Again? 

I touched down on the asphalt lightly and shifted back to a human, adjusting my shirt and pulling up my jeans before walking into the bookstore. 

There was an ancient old lady behind the counter, with glasses larger than her face hanging on a chain around her neck.

"Hello, love." She called, and I said my hello back before disappearing among shelves. It was a deceptively large bookstore, with many shelves filled with classics and new fantasies. 

I wasn't on a book spree, since I had only thirty dollars from tips to spend. 

After half an hour of wandering, I chose The Road from Cormac McCarthy and a collection of poems from Robert Frost. 

As I went up to pay for them, the little old lady put on her huge glasses and scanned the price tags slowly. 

"You seem to have good taste." She commented.

"I'm new here, and haven't gotten the chance to do a whole lot of reading. I wanted that to change." I said smoothly.

"It would be nice to have someone like that around here. Are you looking for a job?" She asked, looking at me with blue eyes magnified by her huge glasses.

Something in them seemed so hopeful and pleading I felt myself start to say yes. 

She just looked so hopeful if I would work there. I had a feeling she had a hard time keeping up. And I did like books...

"Can I have an application? I can look into it with my other job." 

"Of course, dear!" She said a smile, reaching under the counter and pulling out two sheets of paper. 

I took them with a smile and finished paying, flying quickly back to the Café before the man could get mad at me.

I really needed to get his name. I didn't like just calling him "the man." 

Back there, he was sitting at a table playing a game on his phone. 

"Hey, I never got your name." I said as I walked in.

He didn't turn around. "Herald."

Herald? It sounded like an appropriate name for your ancient war veteran grandpa. But that was really mean of me. So I didn't say it. Yet. 

"Okay, Herald, it's rather quiet at the coffee shop during the day. Is there any way I can leave after the morning rush and come back at the time the bar opens? I can run it until 11:45 each night."

He grunted. "Why? Ya got somewhere to be?"

"I am considering working another job." I said. 

"The coffee shop not exciting enough?" he sneered without even looking at me. "Fine." 

I had a feeling we wouldn't get along so fine. It was fine.

I would be at El Libros de mi Corazón half of the day anyways.

I grabbed a pen and filled out the application. 



I laid on my bed. 

I had filled out the application and turned it into the lady, who had smiled until her face looked like it couldn't stretch anymore. 

I felt good for doing that. She seemed happy.

I made more money at the Café, though my pay was docked slightly. That was fine. 

My day was over. 

I showered and pulled on some pjs I had bought after work, then went downstairs to turn off the lights.

Sitting on the table innocently, was a little white envelope with a small crest of a black rising tidal wave.

Ron already had a short list of names he was keen on joining the "Study" group. Oddly enough they were from the other three houses, with I belonging to a separate House. First to his left he glanced over to a tall lanky Slytherin boy. 

"* Theodore Nott is probably the closest to an actual genius in this entire school. From out first meeting during Daphne's Party he was one of the very few who caught my attention. Then today he was able to anticipate my surprise attack on Draco. That enough more than earns him a position in the group, not to mention that he's been a finalist in numerous Wizarding Competitions. With my help and resources he can easily become a wizard Worthy of being my right hand man.*"

Feeling someone gaze on his person Theodore raised his head to see who it was. When he realized it was from from Ron he couldn't help but recall the incident during Charms Class.

"* What could the school's idol possibly want with me? I was sure to not get involved with Draco so that we wouldn't interact...*"

" Susan could you lent me your Transfiguration notes?"

" Oh, sure here you go."

When Ron heard that exchanged his ears twitched ever so slightly. There was only one Susan in the Hufflepuff House and she was someone he had to get closer to.

"* Susan Bones, although her looks, talent and status are quite ordinary what I want is her aunt. Who just so happens to be Amelia Bones the current Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement at the British Ministry of Magic. With Susan by my side I will be able to not only get my hands on sensitive information from her, I will also be able to get a powerful ally in the Ministry.*"

Unlike Theodore, Susan was oblivious to the fact that Ron was paying attention to her. Although she was unaware of that, she did feel a sudden chill run down her spine. Causing her to shudder and look around for the cause ultimately finding nothing.

As Dinner came to an end Ron gracefully rose from his seat garnering endless gazes from the majority of the female student body. Which was noted by his two companions who quickly took their places on both of his sides. Ron was aware that his Noble Persona brought him a large deal of attention but then again that was the desired effect.

From the corner of his eye he caught sight of the Old Man looking his way. He acted as if nothing happened and continued   on his way out of the Hall. That's when a familiar face came into view, a tall stocky Gryffindor Cormac. 

"* Unlike the last two he's not in my year and is also in a different house. I guess I'll invite him first,  luckily he's not the brightest then again Gryffindor's tend not to be... Ah, I guess coming from me is more ironic than an insult.*"

Separating from Daphne and Hermione Ron walked over to a large Gryffindor group, Ron was met with mixed emotions. That was due to his family's long tradition of being Gryffindor's yet he wasn't one. Add his quasi idol status and most were either wary of him or jealous.

" Ron, what's the matter? After Dinner First Year's are to head to their Common Rooms, you should know that."

Not surprising the only person who even tried to stop him, was his older brother Percy.

Ron's relationships with each of his five brothers were complicated. There were countless reasons as to why, one being that Ron was a shút in for the majority of his life. He didn't bare all the blame since the age between them all played a big factor.

With Ron being the youngest his two eldest brothers Bill and Charlie tended to go easier on him. While Percy and the twins weren't afraid to call him out or try to prank him even if they never worked. 

So Ron wasn't surprised by Percy's words and actions but that also didn't mean he'd listen to him.

" Brother! Long time no see. Hmm? Have you been eating pie? You smell awfully like pumpkins."

Ignoring his younger brothers comment Percy stood in front of Ron with a stern look.

" Ron, mother told me to look after you and although I let your little stunt at the sorting ceremony go. I can't let you so openly disregard School Rules."

" I'm sorry Percy but I received permission from my Prefect so why don't you go ask her, Hmm?

Not wanting to waste his time arguing with his stubborn brother he pushed him off to Penelope. Percy wanted to say something to refute Ron but was distracted by the blond girl walking towards him.

" Ron, where are you- Percy."

Seeing that his distraction worked Ron slipped by and walked over to Cormac. The big oaf was trying to talk to some girl unaware of Ron heading towards him. He only realized that something was off when the uninteresting girl suddenly blushed but he knew it wasn't something he'd said.

" Eh, what's going on?"

" Cormac."

Hearing the familiar voice he finally understood what caused the reaction from the girl. Putting on his best attempt at a friendly face Cormac turned back to face Ron. 

" Hey, Ron!"

" Cormac, you know him?"

Knowing that Ron had some sort of pull with the girls Cormac was very quick to name himself Ron's best friend. 

" Of Course! Ron and I go way back! Isn't that right, Ron?"

"* Eh, is this guy serious? He's honestly trying to use me to hit on her? I can't say it's a bad move but, well it's corny. Well it doesn't matter I'm also planning to uae him. I'll just let him have this for now.*"

" Oh, absolutely! We're the best of friends!"

Answered Ron with his signature sly smile, inadvertently making the girl blush at him instead of Cormac. Not trying to lose out the latter hastily tried to set up a future date.

" Uh, hey how about we talk later, yeah? We have some catching up to do?"

" Sure, bye Ron... "

" Goodbye, Miss."

Hearing that he wasn't even mentioned left Cormac wondering if befriending Ron was a good idea or not.

"* Damn her! Why didn't she say goodbye to me!? I was the one that... Damn it!*"

I'm going to make ALOT of changes to the story, this novel is based on my own personal knowledge. So if anyone knows more please let me know if I get something wrong or if I'm missing something.

"And then there was the time that I tried out for the Falmouth Falcons. You should have seen it. I blocked nearly all of the shots - but then Basil Horton nearly drove the quaffle in with me. It was their mistake to not take me on as keeper. They nearly won the League Cup! I could have made that happen for them."

Cormac McLaggen was driving Hermione batty.

The more he spoke, the faster she would drink her Butterbeer hoping that it would dullen her senses.

It was as if Cormac didn't realize that she was standing there, completely uninterested in learning his 1001 Quidditch tricks. She scanned the crowd, seeing some of her classmates and professors awkwardly navigate small talk under garish tinsel decor.

Where is Harry? she thought, praying that he could somehow pry Cormac away from her.

"You're quite lucky I'm here tonight," Cormac continued, clearly oblivious, "I nearly dropped out of Hogwarts last year, but my father wouldn't hear of it. I told him my talents were being wasted every year that I wasn't playing professional Quidditch…"

For the sake of her sanity, and to prevent herself from throwing pumpkin fizz on his head, she tuned him out. He was in every sense of the word 'eye candy'. Tall, broad, with glistening blonde hair, and tan skin. Pretty as he was, he was just as equally self-absorbed, uncouth, and unable to take a hint.

"Cormac, Cor-Cormac," she said, having to repeat herself to get him to stop talking, "Could you get me a drink, please, I have to use the loo." He looked a bit startled and offended that she would cut him off in the middle of his riveting tale of when he executed the perfect mid-air broom jump.

"Oh, er - sure."

Hermione jumped with a gasp as Cormac's hand pressed against her backside, patting it twice before he turned. She'd never wanted to escape a situation more urgently as she briskly rushed away from him.

As soon as he was out of range, she made her way to the most secluded place she could find: the balcony. Slipping behind the sheer curtains, she pressed her back against the cold stone wall and reveled in the quiet. She ran her hands impulsively over herself, smoothing out her dress. She wore a thin periwinkle gown made of silk, fitting her form and flowing elegantly to her ankles. She felt so very feminine.

It was a shame that her appearance was being wasted on the oaf McLaggen. She had even spent half an hour perfecting her hair into flowing waves that draped at her shoulders.

At least word would get back to Ron that she'd gotten over him and was looking pretty doing it.

Slughorn's office was blessed with a stunning view. She could see the lake, over the Forbidden Forest, even to the edges of the grounds toward Hagrid's Hut. Her gaze lingered over the tall, thick trees of the Forest and it made her remember that night.

I wonder how he's doing, Hermione thought, I wonder what he's doing. What did he get himself into, tangling up with centaurs of all creatures.

There had been a lot of rumors that revolved around Draco Malfoy that year.

That he was a Death Eater. That he was behind the malicious cursed item that harmed Katie Bell. That he was up to no good at all. Most of these were speculations drawn by Ron and Harry, as usual.

Maybe they were right.

Hermione wasn't sure if she believed it. After all, she had watched Malfoy grow up from a spoiled little boy to the cold, distant man he was now. As a child he was full of himself because he was taught to be full of himself; it's easy to be a villain if you're born into the Dark Arts. But a Death Eater at sixteen? Let alone a Death Eater who was capable of severely harming someone? No, she didn't think he had it in him. He seemed different, yes, but she hadn't sensed any cruelty or sadism.

Actually, he was civil with her.

Now that Hermione considered it, he was unusually civil.

Odd.

"Harry!" she whispered to herself, having spotted the raven haired head that was so familiar she could spot it in a crowd.

Finally, the party was starting to take a turn for the better as she made her way toward Harry, Luna, and Professor Trelawney. Luna and Trelawney comfortably conversed with one another about multi-dimensional transcendence. Not Hermione's first choice of party conversation, but she was grateful to have something to do other than cling to Cormac's arm.

"Just don't let him find me, please, I cannot take another moment of him," Hermione pleaded to Harry who nodded supportively.

"Of course, Hermione, though it's your fault you invited him in the first place."

"It was either him or Zacharias Smith," she said, "and I think I made the wrong choice." Harry rolled his eyes at her.

It wasn't her fault he didn't understand why she felt the need to make Ron pay for snogging Lavender. She couldn't exactly articulate the vindictive nature of paying back your childhood crush with misery. Though in a way the irony was not lost on her, as she was being punished for her pettiness by having to deal with Cormac. So be it.

As long as Ron was jealous, she was happy.

"Look who I found wandering in the upstairs corridor after hours," the party was interrupted by an intrusive, raspy voice. Hermione turned to see Argus Filch in his usual frayed caretaker clothing, clutching the collar of a tall, scowling, handsome blond.

"I was just gatecrashing," Draco Malfoy responded as Filch released him,"I just wanted to join the party, my father has spoken very highly of you Professor Slughorn."

Hermione raised an eyebrow doubtfully.

"What do you suppose he's up to?" Hermione whispered to Harry. Harry had the same expression as her, of intrigue and skepticism.

"Nothing good."

Given his recenpenchant for suspicious behavior, he didn't doubt that Draco Malfoy would attempt to gatecrash. Yet a significant part of her knew it wasn't the end of the story. This was not a party worth sneaking into. Especially for a posh brat like Malfoy.

She watched him curiosity. He looked as tired as ever, his skin was paler and gaunt, and the bags under his eyes made him look much older. He looked mature. The little bratty boy was gone. She didn't have a chance to let her thoughts linger, having seen Cormac moving in her direction.

"Oh no, here he comes. Bye Harry!" she said, swiftly and desperately ducking out of the crowd and out of the party.

Hermione found solace outside of the party, in the quiet halls of Hogwarts castle. She had been curled up in the windowed alcove, sitting with her potions book splayed in her lap. She always liked to keep emergency reading material with her, and was thankful she took the time to enchant her elegant clutch to house several of her textbooks that evening.

Add porcupine quills, stir four times anti-clockwise, add a sprig of peppermint, add sopophorous beans…

She repeated the steps to herself, attempting to memorize them, but all she was managing to do was to doze off.

She sighed and rose to her feet, tucking the book back into her bag. She regretting drinking all those Butterbeers.

Well, if Harry manages to produce another potion better than me, I suppose it'll be my fault, she thought.

The hallways were dark as thin slivers of moonlight struggled to penetrate through the dense cloudy night. She silently made her way down the corridor, then navigated a sharp left turn toward the moving staircases when sheer force stopped her.

"Oof -" she collided into something hard, solidly built and taller than her. Her belongings fell to the floor as she struggled to not stumble backward and over the railing.

She felt herself be grabbed and yanked forward, averting sure disaster.

"Christ, Granger, watch where you're going."

She looked up, disoriented, dizzy from Butterbeer and the jerky movement she had just endured. The slow realization dawned on her that it was a tall man she had just walked into, and not an invisible wall. Her body was still connected tightly with the man in front of her, as he had her still clutched by the arms.

"Malfoy?" she knew him by his voice first before she looked up to see him, his gray gaze was unreadable. He stepped back, but his hands didn't waver.

"Are you following me?" he accused, his tone biting. She could feel herself stiffen in response. "Again?"

"Of course not," she spat defensively, "I've got better things to do than follow you down empty corridors at night."

"Right, better things. Such as date a git like Cormac McLaggen…" He smirked.

Hermione glared at him, how dare he have the audacity to comment on who I'm dating!

Heat rose to her cheeks at his condescension as she pulled away from his grip. His expression turned to surprise when he realized he'd still been holding her still.

"Excuse me, but I don't know how that's any of your business. And actually, I am not dating Cormac McLaggen, I just -" she paused, unsure of how to verbalize her affiliation with the brute, "I didn't want to ask anyone else."

Draco shrugged, his brows were knit and his gaze lowered, revealing nothing.

It frustrated her, especially after having seen him in a deliriously satisfied state under the Calming Draught. He appeared to be back to his cold, closed-off self.

"You could do a lot better than Cormac McLaggen."

The comment stunned her.

She stared at him, unable to hide her confusion and surprise.

"What's it to you, Malfoy?"

He seemed to consider the question thoughtfully, as if asking himself the same thing.

Without responding, Draco leaned forward and reached to pick up her beaded clutch. He took her elbow in his hand and placed the short handle of the purse around her wrist before stepping back.

It felt as though a knot was forming inside Hermione's belly. Probably anger. Maybe the Butterbeer was catching up with her. However, before she had a moment to react, or to digest her own emotions, the shrill, raspy sound of the Hogwarts caretaker rang through the hallway.

"Well, well, well," Argus Filch said, sauntering down the hallway toward them, "I warned you, Mr. Malfoy, if I saw you again wandering the corridors at night, you'd regret it! And look at that, you're not alone. Ms. Granger, having a midnight romp with Mr. Malfoy, are you?"

Hermione gaped as Draco sighed.

"Detention!" Filch exclaimed with excitement, "The both of you! Tomorrow night," his mouth twisted into a wicked smile, "in the dungeons." Filch giggled to himself as he walked away, "Oh, what a delightful Christmas it will be!"

"Fuck!" Draco exclaimed, burying his face in his hands as he rubbed his eyes, "Fantastic, perfect, just what I need."

"Well, it's your fault!" Hermione stated, the deluge of emotion dissipating as the reality of having detention sunk in. "If you didn't run into me…"

"What do you think, I positioned myself in front of you so you could just walk into me? I didn't plan this," he said irritably.

"It's fine," she sighed resigned as she moved away from him and toward the direction of the Gryffindor dormitories, "we'll just get it over with, and it'll be fine."

She believed it. Although she dreaded detention on principle, a spark of nervous excitement swelled in the pit of Hermione's stomach.

The next day felt like it dragged on. Hermione spent most of the day mulling over books in the library, preemptively preparing for future lessons in Defense the Dark Arts, knowing full well that Snape had no intention of going easy on any of them this year.

She found herself tapping her quill against the desk until the feathers frayed. Sometimes she'd bounce her leg impatiently as the day crawled on.

This was unsual for Hermione, who appreciated the opportunity to lose herself in her books for hours on end. She just felt anxious, or perhaps anticipatory, and without a doubt nervous at having to see Malfoy again.

What happened to him? I can't figure out what's changed, Hermione thought.

He seemed more aloof, in his own world, but he had lost of some the arrogant self-absorption that was a Malfoy trademark. She couldn't decide whether she appreciated the change or found it unnerving. It didn't matter anyhow, she was just glad she'd have an opportunity to pry about his odd behavior of late.

It took her a few minutes to realize that she had been re-reading the same sentence about Dried Billywig Stings six times before she snapped the book shut and stood up, leaving the library to head to dinner.

It was an awkward affair. Hermione had been sitting in her usual spot, having arrived early to dinner, where Harry joined her soon after.

"You alright?" he asked.

"Yes, I am," Hermione replied, serving herself a spoonful of potatoes, "why do you ask?"

"You've had a rough week, haven't you? What with Ron snoggi- er, what with your disagreement with Ron. And I heard you've got detention with Malfoy tonight which sounds like hell."

She glanced up at him. The news traveled awfully fast.

"It's fine," she said dismissively, to which Harry shot her a quizzical look. "Who cares about Ron, Harry, he's been rude to me for the last month. Besides, he's decided that he'd rather spend all of his time with Lavender Brown than either of us, so I'm doing myself a favor and letting him go. As for detention, I don't quite know how you heard about that, but it's fine. I could use the time scrubbing toilets - or whatever it is that Filch wants us to do - to think and plan the Runes essay that's due next week."

Harry nodded slowly, "You're stronger than I give you credit for, Hermione."

She couldn't help but smile at his words. He was a supportive friend. Despite the fact that Harry always had a full plate in life - both with the challenges of being a Hogwart's student, but also the slight dilemma of being 'The Chosen One' - Hermione was appreciative that he took the time to be there for her even when he would have preferred that she and Ron ultimately reconciled.

As if their conversation summoned him, Ronald Weasley strode in to the Great Hall with Lavender Brown clinging to his arm. Hermione took it as her cue to leave, but before she could slither out of her seat he had spotted Harry and had made his way to sit across from them.

"Hermione," Ron acknowledged her indifferently. "Heya Harry, how was," he lowered his tone to a whisper, "meeting with Dumbledore?"

Hermione had managed to tune him out enough to enjoy her glass of pumpkin fizz when a small squeaking sound caught her attention. She looked around for the source of it, but couldn't determine where it came from until she felt something nipping at her ankle. She gasped and yanked at it, pulling it up into view. At this point, her reaction had caught the attention of those around her and she heard a few laughs when she realized what she was holding was an small rabbit made entirely out of parchment paper. It was animated and lively, attempting to nip gently at her hand when she placed it on her lap and turned it over, noticing that the rabbit had writing on it.

"That from your boyfriend McLaggen?" Ron asked derisively.

Hermione did not dignify him with an answer or acknowledgment as she pet the spine of the rabbit and the structure of the paper creature loosened, revealing the note that it had hidden. In thin cursive handwriting, the deconstructed rabbit read:

Filch wants us to meet him

near the Dungeon Hall at 8pm.

"Well, what is it?" Harry said, looking at her expectantly.

"Nothing, just - just a prank," Hermione said, shoving the letter in her robe pocket. She didn't think she would have lied to Harry if he was the only one listening, but Ron did not deserve to know anything about her life until he learned to treat her with some bloody respect.

Eleven thirty in the morning!

Parrot Richardson: McCarthy, can you still talk? You're sick, and very sick!

McCarthy: So what the hell is wrong with me? I think I'm just tired, exhausted.

Dog Miro: Bark bark!

Parrot Richardson: So, did you stop playing with your cell phone yesterday until you fainted?

McCarthy: You know, I've been up for days and nights, so my body is so tired that I fainted when I played with my cell phone last night.

Parrot Richardson: So you're going to say, you're not going to faint because you're on your phone, but because you've been up for days and nights, so you're going to say, when you get over it, you're going to keep on playing all night, right?

McCarthy: Maybe, but it's New Year's Eve. I think I should do something else, For example, call the housekeeper and ask them to help me clean the house, but in order to avoid them laughing at me for not cleaning the house, I'll buy something on my suitcase and put it at the door, so that when the housekeeper asks, I'll say, I've just returned from my trip, and I'm sick.

Parrot Richardson: What a hypocrisy! But you don't have to fight yourself anymore! You know what I mean by that? Cat Wu Ming: There are two boxes of butter biscuits in the fridge. As for my box of butter biscuits, I've got it out of the fridge and, as you can see, there's a butter biscuit by my paw. If you want to eat it, go and get it yourself.

Parrot Richardson: There's a box of butter biscuits in the fridge now, and the people from the housekeeping company will come to the house later, and when they clean up the house, I'm sure they'll clean up the fridge. I'm afraid all the food in the fridge that's going to expire will be thrown away.

Dog Miro: So, we're going to try to get as much food out of the fridge as we can before the Housekeeping staff arrives. As far as I know, there are at least four ham sausages, two fish cans, a bag of milk cereal and, of course, the remaining box of cream biscuits.

Cat Wu Ming: I do know exactly what's in the fridge. I know there's still ham and there's still canned fish in there. They're both very, very delicious because they're meat. I'm drooling at the thought of it, but I know I can't get rid of them.

Parrot Richardson: We know that, too, because if McCarthy opens the fridge, he's probably going to take the ham sausage and the canned fish out of it, because he likes them very much.

Dog Miro: So if he doesn't get anything in the fridge after he's washed, we can get rid of even the ham and canned fish in the fridge.

12:30:04 noon!

McCarthy: I want to eat some hot food, so I'm going to eat out now, because I'm too tired to cook. When the people from the housekeeping company come, I want you to tell them how to clean the house, and I'm sure you can do it.

Dog Miro: Bark bark!

Cat Wu Ming: Meow meow!

Parrot Richardson: Yes sir!

12:30:44 noon!

Cat Wu Ming: Look, he's gone!

Parrot Richardson: He just left the house, didn't open the fridge, didn't take anything out of the fridge.

Dog Miro: But that means we have a new assignment. As a talking parrot, you should know what he's given you. Tell me about it.

For a cat, there's only one job, and that's to get the food out of the fridge that belongs to us now. As for Miro, you'd better hang around with the housekeepers as they clean the house, which will let them know that it's best not to take away anything valuable from the house, such as a smartphone Ping Ping. As for me, I've repeatedly told them to clean the house.

Dog Miro: I'd like someone at the housekeeping company to take my smartphone Ping Ping, but I'm very responsible, so they can't take anything valuable out of the house while they're cleaning up.

Parrot Richardson: Have you finished moving the food in the fridge?

Dog Miro: It's finished.

Cat Wu Ming: Anyway, my job is done, and it's New Year's Eve today, so I decided to take my annual vacation from now on, so I'm going to grab a cream biscuit and lie on the radiator, or I'm going to lie on a sunlit concrete floor, so I don't have time to meet them!

As the banquet was going on Drake started to eat while he talked with Katie, Fred, George, and a few more students. He also talked a little bit with Nearly Headless Nick ghost.

"Hey, did you see the last girl who went to Slytherin?" asked a boy.

"Yeah…I don't recall seeing her with us since we gathered together with the big guy" said Katie.

"Well, it's strange, very strange and I can say that I remember every new face" replied Drake.

"Oh really…. how can a boy who was surrounded by girls remember every face?" asked Katie with a teasing tone.

"Well…I don't know…I guess…hey, what are your perspectives for this year?" answered Drake with a question and changing the topics.

"Hahaha! The blondie here got shy…" said Fred laughing and everyone started to laugh.

"hmm…a guy who doesn't even have a surname is more popular than me…. bunch of idiots" said Cormac, who was looking at them and talking to other boys.

Everyone near Drake stopped laughing, while Drake looked at him and said:

"Well, it seems the furball likes to listen to the conversations."

"At least, I'm fur ball while you more likely were adopted right…Oh I forgot you do have a family a half-giant…" replied Cormac.

After Cormac finished speaking all the students near then went mute, they looked at him and then to Drake. He had a serene face, he just was too calm…for a few moments, people thought that he would get angry or lash out at Cormac, but instead, he just stays quiet.

 Drake started to think about the event of his life and how Dumbledore and all his uncles, which any people here would like at least an autograph with them. He thought about his dreams, where a lady with silver hair and green eyes talked to him about fire magic and other things. She wouldn't say anything about him, but he knew that she was his mother or at least a remnant of it, probably inside of the pendant. Dumbledore would say that people who loved and cared about you will always be with you. 

As Drake thought about it, the nails started to transform into claws with small little darkening scales appearing on the tip of his fingers, fortunately, he heard Katie and then Fred and George mocking Cormac. However, this little loss of control by him wasn't unnoticed, a red hair Slytherin girl looked at him before averting her gaze and Dumbledore also noticed the small loss of control. The last one was with a little concerned look.

"Humm…furball…should I give an interview to the Daily Prophet about a furball guy who wet his pants on his first day of school?! Or maybe…let's say another accident like the fur growing up?" said Drake wile he started to smirk with cold eyes.

Meanwhile, he called Mr.Peeves with an object that he gave to the ghost to always be in touch with him (alchemy invention of uncle Flamel). Moments later he appeared and together with Drake Fred and George who already knew him were invited to a prank talk. He went to a corner of the great hall with the ghost, Fred and George before they started to go to the bathroom. This gained a few looks from several students in the different tables and from the teachers too. Since they all knew what Peeves could do. Katie and Cho got a little shocked to see the three go with the ghost but they didn't give any thought about it. No one knew what this talk would bring so many problems to the students and teachers alike. Dumbledore looked at his son with interesting glint.

"This should be fun," thought Dumbledore.

"So Peeves…in a moment I will bring a certain potion…its not a big deal, nothing serious just instantaneous loud, smelly farts. I will give it to you when I go to the bathroom and you will do whatever you want with it…but you need to put it this evening at least on Cormac." Said Drake as he looked at Peeves, Fred and Jorge.

"Hehehehehe! I like it for me is a good deal young Drake…" replied Peeve laughing.

"By the away Fred and George, you can distract him, and Peeves will pour it discretely…if you can…" continued Drake as he turned the back to them and summoned from his hat a bunch of potions.

"Here, one for each of you…by the away don't get caught by any professor or Mr. Filch and if you do don't say it was me who gave them to you and if you are really in pinch just say ["pranks done, pranks have gone, no one can know what it's going on"]. its a safe mechanism to self-destroy the potions invented by me," said Drake.

They talked more and went back to the Gryffindor table, Katie looked at them with question look but they only say that she would see it later. 

They continued to eat and talk about several things until Fred started to talk with Cormac followed by George. Cormac was distracted and Peeves in his invisible form went above him and discretely he poured the potion in his drink, the liquid of the potion was almost invisible too. Probably only Dumbledore and few more teachers could see him.

As the banquet goes on, it was time for the desserts. When suddenly people near him started to hear some low sounds likely from someone farting. 

*prrrrrr* *prrrrrrrrrr* *prrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr*

Each sound louder than the other until all the Gryffindor table started to look at Cormac.

*PRRRRRRR* *PRRRRRRRRRRRRR* *PRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR*

Even some students of the other tables started to look at him. Cormac filling all the gazes on him started to stan up but that only made it louder. The teachers started to hear the farts, by now all the students were already laughing inclusively Drake and company. Meanwhile, Peeves ran away from bloody baron ghost. 

Cormac was getting more each time he farted louder until Snape stood up went to Dumbledore whispering at his ears. Next, he called Madame Pomfrey, the Hogwarts matron who took the red and crying Cormac to the nursery as all the Hall was laughing.

After, this situation and with a few words of Dumbledore saying it was a bad prank, the banquet was resumed. 

"Hhahahaha! Did you see his face…I can't laugh anymore! I'm going to die!" said Fred to George and Drake.

"Hahaahah! Me too! By Merlin Beard! Drake where did you find this potion?" asked Jorge laughing.

"Oh, I made it. Hahahahah! I know a few things of alchemy and potion making" replied Drake.

The twins, Katie and a few more students near him looked at him with a surprised look.

"Nice!!! Said Fred and Jorge at the same time. "Now we have someone who can make potions and knows alchemy, we can make them in the school, and we don't have to smuggle it anymore hehhehe! Continued the twins as they looked at Drake and smiled.

After a little bit more of talking and eating Dumbledore ended the banquet and each student went to his respective dormitories. The new years went with their head house students to their respective House towers. Before Drake could go with the new students Professor McGonagall called him. He said goodnight to his fellow friend and went with her, after while they arrive at the entrance of Dumbledore office. Guarding the entrance was golden Gargoyle statue.

Professor McGonagall said the password and the Gargoyle started to move and behind it, a spiral stair started to appear.

"Well, auntie what does the old man want? Asked Drake in a teasing tone which in turn was received by a serious stare.

"You probably know better than me what have you done since you arrived at Hogwarts…at least you seem to have made some friends already. After all, everything it's not bad…by the away young man, if one of your pets his seen near the school or inside of it, I will tell your Dad to confiscate the hat and the suitcase. I'm also the headteacher of Gryffindor house, so behave or I will give negative points to the house because of you…are we cleared?!" said Minerva after giving one more time the same speech she gave a few days before he went to Hogwarts.

"Yes auntie, you won't notice me." Replied Drake taking off his hat and storing it in the small spatial pouch that Nicola Flamel has given him, and he attached it to the pendant. It has very little space, only enough to guard the hat and few coins.
They arrived at Dumbledore office and before they knocked at the door, Dumbledore said that they could enter.

"Well, Albus here it is the boy, I hope you give him a very serious talk," said Minerva as she went out of the office after she gave a gentle pat on his head with a serious look.

"So…Dad…why did you call me here?" asked Drake as he went in front of Dumbledore. Dumbledore was reading some papers before Minerva and Drake came in.

"Well, boy I need to talk to you about two important things. The first one his about your little pranks and I saw what you did to Cormac after leaving the train and you're dealing with Mr. Peeves and the Weasley twins. And I only want to say that don't bring the pranks to serious and always respect your colleagues mainly your housemates. I won't forbid you of doing the things you do in your little laboratory, but if I see any dangerous or deadly thing in Hogwarts grounds, I will confiscate your suitcase. And one more time keep in check your animals, I also saw what you did on the train to the young lady, if you had used another method, you would suffer the consequences. Are we clear son?"

"Yeah Dad…but the guy was the one who said bad things about me and Uncle Hagrid…" said Drake with a downcast expression on his face.

"I know Drake, I know but we need to be stronger than that and don't let words affect us. We are better than them and we will show them…of course, sometimes a few lessons are needed hehehe" said Dumbledore.

"Okey Dad…I will try to ignore him, but you know that my bottom line is my family."

"Yeah I know and it's about your family the second topic I wanted to talk to you." Said Dumbledore as he went under his secretary and brought a journal and gave it to Drake. On the cover you could read "Another War?!" and the image were two wizards fighting. One of the wizards was wearing a robe with a symbol that seems like the shape of Drake pendant that his mother gave it to him.

"This…this shape it seems to be…seems…to be equal to my pendant…" said Drake shuttering.

"Yes, this was supposed to be on the cover of the daily prophet back in 1970 but got cancelled and I could only find these because of an old friend. It seems that while we were fighting against you know who, another war was taking place in the Iberian Peninsula. I will have to visit a few friends before I have more info about it."

Drake went to Dumbledore and hugged him while a few tears could be seen out of the corner of his eyes.

This is a story about a boy who was adopted by Albus Dumbledore during the first wizarding war against The Dark Lord Voldemort. Follow him and his friends, beasts and other stuff on the adventure.

1-	This is a story that will be during the time of the cannon of harry potter. The MC will be maybe ½ years older than the trio.
2-	There will be romance and probable harem but only later. Since I don’t think 11 years old kid will start to think with their d*** at that age. And the romance will be built not like those typical harem novels where the MC sees a beautiful girl and start to f*** her.

Frank watched the sun rise over the wasteland, illuminating the empty landscape and warming his exhausted body. Night had come and passed, which meant he had slept for quite a while on a rock-hard bench in the middle of nowhere. During his escape from the crash site he’d thought about pausing several times, but as soon as he did so, the image of Grayson's sadistic eyes and sinister smile would surface within his mind...and then, Frank would be up and running again. By the time he reached a vista that overlooked the city of Bakersfield, his stamina had reached its limit, and he collapsed.

It seemed impossible that Grayson could survive what had happened, but Frank wasn't going to take any chances. He phoned his wife yesterday just to let her know he would be getting home late, but he refused to involve her any more than that. Who knows how many people Grayson had alerted yesterday? Zexaron was a corporate empire...from now on, he would never be able to fully relax, no matter where he went. 

His thoughts turned to Ed, the last person he could trust. He wondered how his friend had fared last night after exposing Grayson's secrets in the darkness of the records room. Frank palmed his cell phone anxiously. It was only past daybreak, so Ed would most likely be asleep. Still, he felt like he couldn’t wait any longer, so Frank pulled the phone out and dialed away.

"Frank?" Edward answered his phone on the second ring. 

"Hey, Ed," Frank responded slowly. Now his voice sounded weak. 

"You still out on...business?" Edward asked.

"I'll be truthful with you, Ed," Frank confessed, "but first, I need to know what else you found out last night."

"That's a strange story." Frank could hear Ed's dark sarcasm, something he had been missing for quite some time. "To put it bluntly: Grayson found me."

"What?!" Frank roared. "Grayson found you?!"

"You seem a little more surprised than I expected," Edward replied. "I mean, you didn't we were going to go unnoticed, did you?"

"No, Ed, that's not it..." Frank fingered his temple, once again at the mercy of Edward's words. "That's impossible...he was chasing me when I called you!"

"Did he catch you?" 

"No..." Frank's mind was working on overdrive now, trying to find some loophole or vital truth that he had missed. "A few minutes after I hung up on you, I made his car fall off a cliff. Then I pushed my own car off the edge to crush him. It was physically impossible for him to get away from that, let alone run through miles through the desert back to the Zexaron building and catch you, Ed. That was not Grayson!"

Once again, Edward gave him nothing but silence.

"Ed?" Frank's voice pressed, waiting for a response.

"Last night," Edward began, "Grayson wanted me to come with him, but I'd gotten so worked up over what I found that I threatened him. He attacked me, and the next thing I remember, I was lying in the middle of my living room floor at three in the morning."

Frank listened to Edward's story closely, trying to detect any holes. "Ed, that couldn't have been Grayson. Are you sure you didn't mistake him for someone else? Maybe it was a dream?"

"A dream? No, Frank...far from it. If anything, I feel like I've just awakened from the longest slumber I've ever had. It's entirely possible that it wasn't him, but then how did I end up back at my house? My company car is here, but I don’t remember driving it, and the only person who knows my new address...is Grayson."

"This is going nowhere..." Frank realized, too tired and frustrated to think it over any longer. "No matter how well we rationalize it, there's no explanation that'll work perfectly. This is crazy."

"Maybe," Ed said, "but we still might be able to work together and do something about it. First, Frank, you need to tell me...why was Grayson chasing you?"

"Well..." Frank sighed. "I'm not even sure where to

start. Man, you really got messed up, didn't you?" Zexaron CEO F. Douglas McCarthy guffawed. He was standing over the body of Grayson Lee, who was currently lying in the bed of a small hospital in northeast Bakersfield. McCarthy looked like a short, portly middle-aged man with thinning blond hair, but laughed at Grayson’s sad state with all the giggly enthusiasm of an innocent little girl.

Grayson had been bandaged across his chest, his left wrist was in a splint, and his remaining cuts and bruises had all been attended to. "This is ridiculous. If it had been anywhere else...but no, a car had to fall onto me on Earth. Now look at me...being tended to by the incompetent, with all this inferior technology."

"Come on." McCarthy kicked the bed with his foot. "You'll be alright."

Grayson raised a testy eyebrow to his ally. "Did you receive a report from the recent meeting?"

"Yeah," McCarthy replied. "You know the Belmarcian Tournament is in three months, right?"

"That soon, huh?"

"Most everyone is in Enmetropolis now, scoping out the place and preparing for it. No one wanted to come here and help out."

"Is that so?" Grayson smirked. "The Rabbit treats them like his own children, yet he always spares them the necessary discipline."

"I was thinking about how nice it’d be to have the Dragon with us." McCarthy smirked, watching as Grayson shook his head. "Yeah, I know. Don't worry, there's no way I'd ever bring him here - he'd stick out like a sore, stitched-up thumb. Either way, I already took care of it and convinced the Sheep to come. I figure her powers would be the most useful here. You know, the gravity stuff."

"That's true." Grayson closed his eyes in thought. "Out of the twelve of us, she's probably the one who can work most efficiently in this dimension. So, when is she coming?"

"This afternoon, I think." McCarthy played with his pudgy chin, looking rather bored. 

"Then we'll begin tonight," Grayson said. "By the way, what did you tell everyone when you brought me in here?"

"What do you mean?" McCarthy gave Grayson a strange look. "I told them you were in a car crash, of course."

"Fine. You ready to get out of here?"

"Whenever you are." Smiling, McCarthy moved over to the window and pushed aside the curtains. "It looks like it's a four-story drop from here. You sure you're up to that?"

"Please, Madeleine," Grayson said, stepping out from his bed in a blue-and-white hospital gown. "As long as you prepared a regeneration tank for me like I ordered you to, it won’t matter. I need a new suit, though. And some new glasses."

The rest of the patients in the ward were sound asleep, but Madeleine noticed someone watching them: a little boy with a broken leg. He stared at them with small, curious eyes, unable to comprehend what was transpiring.

Grayson and Madeleine both waved at the boy with friendly smiles. 

"Watch closely, little guy!" Madeleine whispered softly. "You're staring at the people who're going to change the universe."

Grayson's right leg moved up in a flash, grinning as pain from his wound rippled through his body. His foot flew out, and the window shattered. Grayson dove outward, concentrating psynergy in his legs to soften the drop. Utilizing his power still gave him a terrible headache, and his body screamed out in protest.

He landed on a platform above the entrance to the hospital, then hopped down to the cement. Madeleine followed him, slamming McCarthy's body into the ground with an unsettling thud. 

"It hurts," Madeleine remarked. "And it's like there's a tightness inside me every time I transform, too. Doesn't feel right."

"That's why we need to be careful," Grayson responded. "The time for theatrics will come much later."

Madeleine followed him dutifully, then glanced around to make sure no one was watching. In a flash, she transformed into an 11-year old girl with strawberry blonde hair. Freckles littered her rosy cheeks, framing her large blue eyes. She was wearing a pink-and-white striped t-shirt and a pair of ripped blue jeans, and could have easily passed for Grayson's daughter.

The weather beyond the train windows was as patchy as it had been all summer; the train passed through stretches of the chilling mist, then out into weak, clear sunlight. It was during one of the clear spells, when the sun was visible almost directly overhead, that Colin, Ron and Hermione entered the compartment at last.
"Wish the lunch trolley would hurry up, I'm starving," said Ron longingly, slumping into the seat beside Harry and rubbing his stomach. "Hi, Neville."
"Where's Ginny?" Chris asked Colin.
"She stopped to chat with Dean," said Colin. "She will be here in a bit, I think."
Chris nodded and looked out the window. She hadn't gone to looking for Jason, she was angry. Jason hadn't replied to her letters all summer. First Chris thought if something bad had happened to him but then just a week ago a letter came from Jason saying, he was a little busy. That's all.
"Chris, guess who are Hufflepuff Prefects?" said Colin grinning.
"Who?" Chris looked back at him.
"Irena and Melvin," said Colin.
"Great," smiled Chris. Irena and Melvin both were their friends from Hufflepuff, they were also in DA last year. "And Ravenclaw?"
"Remember Jane Chambers? She was in DA too. She and a boy named Adrian Rivers are Ravenclaw Prefect."
The compartment door slid open again and a breathless third-year girl stepped inside.
"I'm supposed to deliver these to Neville Longbottom, Harry P-Potter and Chris-ti-tina Nor-ton," she faltered, as her eyes met Harry's and she turned scarlet. She was holding out three scrolls of parchment tied with violet ribbon. Perplexed, Chris, Harry and Neville took the scroll addressed to each of them and the girl stumbled back out of the compartment.
"What is it?" Ron demanded.
Chris opened her parchment and read:
Miss Norton,
I would be delighted if you would join me for a bite of lunch in compartment C.
Sincerely,
Professor H.E.F. Slughorn
"An invitation," said Harry.
"Who's Professor Slughorn?" asked Neville, scanning his letter.
"New teacher," said Harry. "Well, I suppose we'll have to go, won't we?"
"But what does he want me for?" asked Neville nervously, as though he was expecting detention.
"The actual question is why he wants to meet me?" said Chris bewildered.
"No idea," Harry shrugged. "Let's go."
People again were staring at them intensely. Every now and then, students would hurtle out of their compartments to get a better look. When they reached compartment C, they saw at once that they were not Slughorn's only invitees, although judging by the enthusiasm of Slughorn's welcome, Harry was the most warmly anticipated.
"Harry, m'boy!" 
Professor Slughorn was an enormously fat, bald, old man with a silvery moustache. He was wearing a velvety waistcoat.
"Good to see you, good to see you, Harry! And you must be Mr Longbottom! And of course Miss Norton."
Chris looking surprised and Neville looking scared, nodded. At a gesture from Slughorn, they sat down on the three remaining sits, which were nearest the door. Chris glanced around at their fellow guests. There were a sixth year Slytherin boy, two seventh-year boys and, squashed in the corner beside Slughorn and looking as though she was not entirely sure how she had got there, Ginny. Chris caught Ginny's eye and raised her eyebrows in question. Ginny shrugged.
"Now, do you know everyone?" Slughorn asked Chris, Harry and Neville. "Blaise Zabini is in your year Harry, of course —"
Blaise Zabini was a tall black boy with high cheekbones and long, slanting eyes, whom Chris had noticed a few times because he had tried to impress Ginny a lot, last year.
"This is Cormac McLaggen, perhaps you've come across each other — ? No?"
McLaggen, a large, wiry-haired youth, raised a hand, eyes fixed at Chris. Harry and Neville nodded at him while Chris quickly looked away.
"— and this is Marcus Belby, I don't know whether — ?"
Belby, who was thin and nervous-looking, gave a strained smile.
"— and this charming young lady tells me she knows you three!" Slughorn finished.
Ginny grimaced and Chris realized she wasn't wearing her talisman or she had told Chris about her situation.
"Well now, this is most pleasant," said Slughorn cozily. "A chance to get to know you all a little better. Here, take a napkin. I've packed my own lunch; the trolley, as I remember it, is heavy on licorice wands, and a poor old man's digestive system isn't quite up to such things. . . . Pheasant, Belby?"
Belby started and accepted what looked like half a cold pheasant.
"I was just telling young Marcus here that I had the pleasure of teaching his Uncle Damocles," Slughorn said, now passing around a basket of rolls. "Outstanding wizard, outstanding, and his Order of Merlin most well-deserved. Do you see much of your uncle, Marcus?"
Unfortunately, Belby had just taken a large mouthful of pheasant; in his haste to answer Slughorn he swallowed too fast, turned purple, and began to choke.
"Anapneo," said Slughorn calmly, pointing his wand at Belby, whose airway seemed to clear at once.
"Not . . . not much of him, no," gasped Belby, his eyes streaming.
"Well, of course, I daresay he's busy," said Slughorn, looking questioningly at Belby. "I doubt he invented the Wolfsbane Potion without considerable hard work!"
"I suppose . . ." said Belby, who seemed afraid to take another bite of pheasant until he was sure that Slughorn had finished with him. "Er . . . he and my dad don't get on very well, you see, so I don't really know much about . . ."
His voice trailed away as Slughorn gave him a cold smile and turned to McLaggen instead.
"Now, you, Cormac," said Slughorn, "I happen to know you see a lot of your Uncle Tiberius, because he has a rather splendid picture of the two of you hunting nogtails in, I think, Norfolk?"
"Oh, yeah, that was fun, that was," said McLaggen. "We went with Bertie Higgs and Rufus Scrimgeour — this was before he became Minister, obviously —"
Cormac McLaggen's eyes again flickered towards Chris and again Chris hastily looked away, feeling uncomfortable. She turned to Harry, who was frowning more and more as the conversation progressed. It was as Harry had described, Slughorn liked to collect famous students. Everyone here seemed to have been invited because they were connected to somebody well-known or influential — everyone except Chris and Ginny. Zabini, who was interrogated after McLaggen, turned out to have a famously beautiful witch for a mother (from what Chris could make out, she had been married seven times, each of her husbands dying mysteriously and leaving her mounds of gold). It was Neville's turn next: This was a very uncomfortable ten minutes, for Neville's parents, well-known Aurors, had been tortured into insanity by Bellatrix Lestrange and a couple of Death Eater cronies. At the end of Neville's interview, Chris had the impression that Slughorn was reserving judgment on Neville, yet to see whether he had any of his parents' flair.
