This note is regarding the story.

This is not a typical Cinderella story with a rich CEO and a poor girl loving each other, having some stinky ex-es out, taking revenge or a great family drama for the position of a head. It won't have any elements like those translated novels out there. This book is all about people in middle class and the way they live. So please don't expect any super rich people out here. 😁

I have created this story with the base of Indian culture, especially Tamil culture. I felt that it would be much more easier and realistic when we write according to what we are and how we live. Hence it is. Those who love Indian culture, you can come to know about it in this book. This book will focus mainly with the Tamil culture as its essence.

Thinking who am I? I would shout out there that I'm a middle class Tamil girl. 😉

Thanks for reading everyone, but I have to put Marco and Reina's adventures on pause for a sad announcement. 

If you've been following other original novels, you probably know that something's been brewing lately. To give you the full story, last year Webnovel hosted a contest called "Beyond the Language." The promise was that the winners would receive a Webnovel contract, the first for any English original novel. I quickly wrote the first draft of this story you've been reading and submitted it. 

Fast-forward to the end of 2017, New Year's Eve to be exact. I was sent an e-mail, much to my joy, saying that I was on the "winner's shortlist" for the Beyond The Language contest. Talk about a great way to ring in 2018. Or so I thought. 

I learned mid-January that Webnovel wanted some changes to my story. And by that, I mean their "experts" advised I scrap my original idea and turn Marco into an OP hero that dazzled everyone with some new secret technique every other chapter. I asked if I could keep my story as it was, and was basically told "we don't feel confident in giving a contract or prize to your current story." So I made changes. Changes I wasn't happy with, but I made them. 

More weeks passed, until it was suddenly April. I got a message April 7th telling me two very surprising things. First, I was to publish my story for the Original Novels' launch on the April 10th.

 "What about the contract?" I asked. 

"The contract is not ready," was the response I got. "There is no need to sign a contract before upload. I think it's a great opportunity to expose your work since on the early stage there are not many novels." 

Oh yeah, that's right. The second surprise I got was the reveal that everyone could publish a novel. So not only is there a lack of contract, but us "contest winners" weren't even the first original novels. We shared that honor with a bunch of fanfics and every variation of a title using the world "System." 

You're smart people, so you can quickly piece together that April was two months ago. Two months and still no mention of contract or even a post announcing the status of the Beyond the Language contest. My inquiries to Webnovel staff were met with no answer. Not as in they were vague. I mean I was literally ignored.

So imagine my surprise (seems to be a running theme with Webnovel) when I read Insane Mooncake's latest chapter of Memory Seal announcing his hiatus, and Bai Siwa's frank rant to his readers. There are contracts being put out!? Nice of Webnovel to let me know. 

And that is why I must join what is sure to be a growing number of writers leaving Webnovel. It just makes no sense to keep contributing content to a platform that's actively snubbing you. Especially when I have rent and car payments to make, and this pesky need to constantly ingest food. 

Yes, it is unfortunately about the money. I cherish every comment and review I get (even the negative ones), but the bills need to get paid. And Webnovel clearly isn't going to be helping in that department. 

So I deeply apologize, but I have to leave Marco and Reina, and you, hanging just as their adventures were getting started. Who knows? Maybe I'll return to them one day on another platform. It would be nice to polish the story instead of having to put something out in a rush to keep up a consistent release. For now, I think I'll retreat back into my writer's hole (read: bedroom), start brainstorming my next project, and play some much-needed Monster Hunter.

Hi there... it will be hard for me to say this, but this novel is going on Indefinite Hiatus, and even probably dropped... maybe one day I will rewrite this, but currently I have not time for such a huge project as rewriting something that has over 200 chapters...
There are several reasons for this:
For first, this was my first ever story that I have wrote and then published. In November of 2018, I have started writing this novel, not even knowing what I was expecting from this. It was rushed, and I made many many mistakes over it.

Truth to be told, I have lost proper motivation to write this a long time ago, as I have long ago realized that this is just a dead end. The problem with this story is that I never had planned how the story would end, how it would progress, and everything was done during the run. Not talking about the plot holes and many other mistakes I have made.
I realized it when I started experimenting with other stories and other fanfics... Some head perspective and some not. Unfortunately for me... Holy Akashic Conqueror in its current form did not have perspective. Some chapters were written in a hard way, only by forcing myself to write it... I didn't even feel the joy in it for a long time.
The main problem, as many noticed, and I have realized it after writing other stories and looking back, was with the main character. I never planned properly his personality, traits and other things. It was one of my biggest mistakes, and now without rewriting the entire story, it is almost impossible to repair it. Also, relationship building was too poorly done here, almost non-existent.
Also, I noticed from the lack of comments, that novel was becoming generic, boring, nothing surprising happened... it became plain. The early chapters had many comments about the novel, which made me happy, and also feel that the novel was creating interesting in people. Now in the latest chapters, had very few or sometimes none, that was a sign for me... that the novel was getting worse as time went... Even reviews that were critical helped me, not the spam 1-stars, but really critical ones, to see where the problem lied... 
After some thinking, I have decided to put this novel on indefinite hold. Maybe in the future I will take this story and reset it entirely, correcting all of my mistakes. That would need a lot of time to do... 
Currently, I don't have that luxury, as I need to put most of my focuses on my University studies and soon to get a bachelor's degree in Law, and after that Master's degree, and then to Attorney exams in my country... I have an only a small amount of free time, and I decided it would be better to invest that time into a new project that was made with a clear goal and I have thought about it properly before writing something.
So, I have only left three active novels I have been writing, and even from that one is semi-active, and only two have a firm release schedule
Currently, I am writing only and mainly Mahouka: Irregular Fate, a cross-over with main focuses on Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei with elements of the Type-Moon Franchise. The release rate is around two chapters per month, one chapter is 5k words. I am also consulting the novel with Legendary_Person, author of three very good Mahouka fanfictions, go and check them out (The Eye of the Moon Plan, The Mikaelson Family in Irregular World, I Freakin Reincarnated with System), to prevent mistakes in Mahouka lore and others... 
The second novel, is Tower of Asura, a Tower of God fic, with elements of DxD and others, the release rate is one chapter per 2-3 months, one chapter is 20k, though this novel, would have chapter released only when it is done... published only on fanfiction.net 
Third and last move, a semi-active one, as writing this one is a bit harder compared to Mahouka: Irregular Fate and Tower of Asura is Immortal Warlock. Chapters would be released randomly when I write one I release one.
These are only three novels, that I currently see some meaning writing, especially Mahouka: Irregular Fate, that I decided to give it most of my free time.
I thank you from bottom of my heart for supporting me during writing this novel, and I hope that one day, we will see each other once again when I start rebooting this sometime in the future. 
For now, please go and read these three novels, if you want to read something from me again. Also, in these three novels, I have learned from my mistakes, during wring this novel or some other of my projects. So, I am trying to make better stories, more interesting ones, dynamic ones...

Inside of a secretive underground location in California, each having their own security detail and their group of retinues, six individuals with very distinguishable styles of fashion met up inside of a special room with reinforced alloy doors and specialized concrete walls. Each of the six sat by one side of the hexagonal table in the middle of the room, while their security detail waited outside the room and their retinues stood beside them.

Sitting among them was none other than Carol Summers, Known to the outside world as a real estate developer, investor and ruthless businesswoman. Sitting on the opposite side of Carol Summers, was Tamil Brooke with condescension, self importance and in his invisible tall hat practically twirling his curly mustache, a member of The Council of Ancient Wizards and Conjurers, and leader of its North America Chapter. Sitting on her right side, was Soren Lupei, a man with a glorious full beard and wise green eyes. He was probably the only one with whom Carol could have a non-bad conversation. On her left, was Lucias Vyn, the wise, smiley but mean Godmother of the Vyn family, and the one that leads the biggest group of gifted mercenaries. And who, according to whispers on the street, always over charges.

Sitting on Tamil Brooke's left side, was Paulo Chang, a bald old man wearing all blue and even dyed his eyebrows and hair blue. He was drinking out of a gourd and not paying attention to anyone or himself. He was the ambassador of the elementals, element spirits and fog dwellers. Despite his age, he was probably the most volatile and short-fused of all six individuals around the table. On Tamil Brooke's right side was Xyankor, the least talkative one in the six, who represented the Depth Dwellers, a group of mythical humanoid creatures not many in the world had heard of.

"Shall we convene the meeting?" Tamil said: "I can't stand the Californian air, all your wildfires just filled the air with ashes, smoke and the smell of hobo excrement."

"We should start." Lucias Vyn said with her signature smile: "I have an important family meeting to attend to, and you are not as lovely nor caring as my family. So the sooner we can finish the better."

"Ms. Summers? You called the meeting, why don't you start us off?" Soren turned to Carol Summers and said.

"Okay, Bill?" Carol Summers snapped her finger, and one of her assistants put a small tablet on the table and gave it a light tap.

A hologram was projected from an overhead projector - it was a 3-D mapping of a part of an underground tunnel system. In the center, it was a giant station, connected to multiple branches and rails.

"This is the AeixiiMhundu Tunnel, you should have heard of it by now. An infrastructure project headed by billionaire Thaicus Theon. " Carol Summers stood up and introduced what was on the hologram: "Theon put a hefty bounty through all of us. But so far, no one in any of our leagues was able to claim it, or produce any evidence that they actually cleaned the tunnels."

"Yeah, I remember, the bounty that got one of my grandsons killed. " Lucias Vyn said, while the signature smile disappeared from her face: "But it was gone, by the time my next team got there."

"So it is true. What my team reported. " Soren said: "They reported that they encountered a team sent by Thaicus Theon himself at the entrance. Those people told my team that they should not enter, because someone with immeasurable power was in the tunnel handling the bounty. My team went in, and they were pushed out by some invisible force." 

"Huh, so did this...  team of yours find anything?" Tamil Brooke asked, "Sounds like something my peers would do. To seal the battlefield and remain unbothered by the naive and clueless, thus sparing them of the tragic fate of unintended injuries or death. Very benign and generous, my fellows are."

"No. They could not find anything as all entrances to the central area of the tunnel were sealed off by this same force." Soren just ignored the hint of conceit in Tamil Brooke's words : "Whoever it was, it was definitely really powerful. And that person was trying to keep their identity a secret. My team asked Mr. Theo's team what that person looked like, and three of them gave three different descriptions. That person was either a man or a woman, either tall and thin, and either really strong and muscular or slim and surrounded by smoke."

"Interesting. A projective cloaking spell? That's quite sophisticated a technique. One only few accomplished wizards have mastered. It serves one's desire to fully hide their identity and traces by creating a cloak of mental projection that reflects a mixture of an image of the gazers' fears, anxieties and expectations. " Tamil Brooke said with his mustache twitching: "I am almost certain this is the doing of one of my league members - we have fellows that are known for their whimsicality and fondness of playing pranks on the more… simple and untrained minds."

"This kind of spell is not unheard of from members of the Trinity Convent." Carol Summers shook her head and said: "But I am not here to take credit of the bounty -  we all know that the bounty needs to be claimed and verified ..."

"You are both wrong!" Paulo Chang suddenly put down his gourd and yelled with a red face: "This is clearly thanks to the elementals, which are members of my league. None of your leagues' parlor tricks and magic rabbits are a match for this kind of dangerous situation. Our records and power is the proof of that!"

"Paulo, we are not here about the credit..."

"Shut up you wretched witch!" this time Paulo Chang's yell echoed in the room, his body floated in the air, glowing in blue and electric sparks bursting around him, and his eyes lit up in blue: "Are you challenging the power of us elementals? I am happy to give you a lesson, with death!"

"Stand down, Chang. " Soren Lupei stood up: "This is a meeting among high brokers, all should remain civil. Or do you want to endure the cost of breaking your word when you got your seat at the table?"

"Humph" Paulo Chang was still not drunk or arrogant enough to face both Soren Lupei and Carol Summers, so he floated back down to his seat.

"Thank you Soren, and you, Chang." Carol Summers nodded to both Soren Lupei and Paulo Chang: "As I just said, I didn't call this meeting to talk about who should take credit for what happened. If anyone comes forward to claim it we should verify. But what I brought here is something I noticed … here, take a look." Then, she passed out several sheets of paper with some printed words on them, but most of the words were already almost completely faded for some unknown reason.

"These are some of the documents of the bounty and of the intel I gathered about the thing that resided in the central station of the tunnels." Carol Summers continued: "They were printed no more than one and a half months before, the latest were printed as early as two weeks ago."

"Do you… have a really bad printer? Or do you use cheap ink?" Lucias Vyn slowly laid her fingers on one sheet of paper, "I thought a business mogul like you would choose your operational tools more wisely."

"I do, and I did, Vyn." Carol Summers lightly squinted her eyes: "The records were almost mysteriously wiped. That includes some digital records we have as well. My security team ran several checks - no one illegally accessed those records."

"Could it be the case that your security measures are as disorganized as your convent and misguided as your crude attempts at enchantations?" Tamil Brook asked.

"They are as impeccable as any high level corporate security measure should be. It's the 21st century and no one is using age old scrolls and wax seals for storing important information." Carol Summers looked at everyone at the table: "If you are even half as intel savvy as I am, I'd imagine the same thing would have happened to your records as well."

"My league doesn't keep written or digital records. But we did notice that some of the team members' memories of what happened that night were curiously missing important details." after a long pause, Soren said: "We thought it was because of some kind of spell they encountered in the tunnels. But looks like it might be something else - something is removing the records and history of whatever resided in the tunnels."

"But that is impossible, no one has power with this kind of scale." Lucias Vyn shook her head: "You might be making connections that aren't there."

"I agree with mama reaper there." Paulo Chang took a big chug from his gourd: "That is something from fairytales. "

"Not exactly. My league, through our long history, have stories and records passing down from generations before us." Xyankor, the one who did not say even one word since he entered the room, now spoke up with a deep and hoarse voice: "It can be done with the right spell, and a Stone of Negation."

He left his home, unwillingly, to a realm of cultivation, Xianshu, mythical manuals and Dao. And now he’s here due to a failed attempt at going home, a place bears a lot of resemblance but not the same.

“At least it’s close enough here. I’ll get there on my next jump.” Jianmen Yu said to himself, “But while I’m prepping, let me do my old job here for a bit.”

What a charming evening. The ballroom of the Miyami Kurikawa Hotel in the middle of Tokyo City is full of dazzling crowds. Hundreds of invited guests wore the best clothes and journalists flocked to certain spots to carry out interviews. 

The red carpet stretches from the entrance to the innermost room. There were so many public figures who were special guests. They are actors, actresses, sportsmen, designers, photographers, models, YouTubers, magazine editors, food enthusiasts, bloggers, comic artists, novelists, and many more. However, they are celebrities in their respective fields.

One of the most popular is Renji Isamu. A BL Novelist Sensei and a senior at the publishing company Mayumi who was awarded the prestigious Kikukawa award tonight.

The beautiful women who surrounded him were even more sullen than the reporters. They cling to the scent of various brands of perfume and the latest lipstick colors just to get his attention. In hand, each carrying a novel 1050 pages thick stamped a best seller with a sales rate of 35 reprints throughout 2018.

Really extraordinary indeed. Especially with that handsome look. His golden eyes that gleamed under the lights were even more charming than the actors on the stage there.

Renji Isamu who had stepped off the stage after receiving a sparkling trophy. Its charm flashes like a red rose swarmed by bees far away. Beautiful, but he looked uncomfortable. His smile was fake when he scribbled all the novels with his signature. And every time the reporter asked something, he answered casually. Indifferent, seem indifferent, but everyone still admires.
Haru, his most loyal friend and personal manager politely asks them to stay away. They also protested, but what if the rundown of the event had changed. 

Renji Isamu has to move the panel towards a special celebration session. At another hotel, a party awaits and is organized by the publishing company that houses it.

All novelists in Japan must be jealous these days. Even though they only watch the program on television or stream on social media. Their saliva was probably dripping seeing the man walking out on the red carpet. With the reporters still on chase, the screaming fans, the eager bodyguards separating the crowd and Haru insisting on towing him into the limousine.

The long-bodied luxury car awaits. The door opened one and Renji walked in with a nervous push from Haru. When it was about to close, the fans looked like they were clawing. 

As soon as the wheels were running, Haru took a deep breath. "Oh my God ... today was really tiring," he complained. And when he glanced, Renji was just silent. He looked out the window with empty eyes. The gleaming trophy in his hand looked even more valuable than a junk. "Ren, are you okay?"

Stupid question. 

Haru knew that. 

Renji Isamu. That man. What a million people want, but his heart only wants one woman. 

Jean Liew. The two of them have been in touch for the past 7 years. Precisely since the beginning, he entered undergraduate course.

Unfortunately three days ago the woman dumped him. With one hard throw, the ring on her finger flew down to the riverbed. The beautiful pendant around her neck was pulled roughly. Then stepped under the feet.

"You really are disgusting!" shouted Jean before leaving. Renji has forgotten how it came from. To be sure everything feels like a dream. Those who had endured that long faded away in the end. 

Haru can only be quiet watching all of it. "Ren, let's go home ..." said Haru. But Renji seemed blind and deaf. The man was just silent and picked up the remaining broken locket. Looking at him in the palm without blinking, even Haru hugged him. 

"I know you're hurt. But hold on, okay? The day after tomorrow is a big reward for you."


Dewi Maharani. Gadis desa. Usia 25 tahun. Dia telah merantau ke Kota Jakarta sejak masih SMA. 

Dia sangat mandiri. Selama merantau kerja sebagai Dance Trainer atau Pelatih Tarian koreografi untuk acara panggung di stasiun televisi. 

Pada suatu hari, Dewi telat menuju lokasi gladi resik. Dia membuat para anggota tari bingung karena ban mobilnya bocor di tengah jalan. 

Uring-uringan, Dewi mendadak diklakson seorang pria yang kebetulan lewat dengan menggunakan mobil yang tipenya sama persis dengan miliknya.

Dewi pun meminta tolong untuk menderek mobilnya, sekaligus mengantarkan dirinya ke lokasi gladi resik. 

Saat sampai ke tujuan, pria itu mendadak dikerubungi seluruh murid-murid didikannya.

"Kak Ari! Kak Ari! Kak Ari!" seru mereka.

Ternyata Ari adalah Dance Trainer yang sebelumnya di tempat ini! Dan dia hari ini diundang datang untuk menjadi bintang tamu acara yang mereka bawakan!

Bagaimana bisa Dewi tidak tahu?!

The expert lived up to his name. Gao Facai was jumped right into work, and the forensic department kept updating them with the latest news. Gao Facai's first task was to extract a kind of microorganism on the surface of the metal box that was commonly found in soil. He then was able to estimate the year that the metal box was buried underground by analyzing the growth of the microorganism!
According to his estimation, Tao Xiang's metal box was buried in somewhere between ten to thirteen years ago, while Du Manting had died about twenty-one years ago. In other words, Tao Xiang didn't bury the box there right after Du Manting had been buried.
Then, another major discovery was made. Gao Facai estimated the corresponding time through the examination of a kind of microelement in the skulls, as well as the embalming liquid. It turns out that both the embalming liquid and the skulls were poured into the metal box about five to seven years ago. That timing just happens to coincide with the exact time when Tao Xiang stole the Tamil Star!
After that, Gao Facai and his team used some kind of chemical method to discover that there were traces of lacquerware and silver and gold powder on the scratches inside the metal box. This could prove that the box had been storing other gold, silver, and lacquerware at one time. However, it was unknown if those things were a part of Tao Xiang's treasure.
Through these three discoveries, Zhao Yu and his teammates could roughly make out the timeline. About ten years ago, Tao Xiang had buried a metal box in Du Manting's grave. At that time, there might have been gold, silver, and lacquerware inside the metal box.
However, about six years ago, Tao Xiang took out all of his treasure from the box and replaced it with the victims' skulls! Hence, that one day six years ago seemed to be the crucial moment. Something had happened that led Tao Xiang to take this action...
Was it somehow related to the Tamil Star?
And, if so, will we be able to find the whereabouts of the treasure and the missing Tamil Star?
Zhao Yu pondered these things, while also marvelling at Gao Facai's efficiency level, which was truly shocking. It was only noon, and he had already discovered something else!
As he examined the six skulls further, he found that the embalming liquid that the skulls had been soaked in was different for each. Specifically, the older the skull, the simpler the ingredients were for the embalming liquid. Thus, the most recent skulls had been embalmed with the more expert and modern embalming methods and ingredients!
Although this discovery was shocking, Zhao Yu had mentally prepared for this long ago. This was because Gao Facai's discovery matched with the autopsy report of the Headless Female Corpses Case.
Ever since the case had been opened, the forensic scientists had realized this same pattern with the corpses, so the skulls should be no different. This also led the police to believe that the murderer was constantly experimenting and improving their skills as they continued their killing spree.
These improvements in his methods could especially be seen in Bai Lili's remains. The murderer cut an opening at the main arteries and drew out all of the blood with professional equipment.
He then filled the body with a self-made embalming fluid. Not only did the fluid act as a preservative, it also made the deceased look vivid and alive! It was actually said that only a professional undertaker would know how to accomplish such a feat!
Gao Facai's autopsy report showed that there was a hole in Bai Lili's skull. This made him suspect that the murderer might have tried to remove Bai Lili's brain, as he wanted to carry out some kind of embalming experiment on her head. Plus, they also found traces on embalming fluid on several areas of the skin.
All of these signs showed that the murderer spent a lot of time and effort in preserving the dead body. It was like he had committed the murder as some type of experiment. It was obvious that his mental state was that of no ordinary murderer.
Looking at the reports that were sent over from the forensic department, the special investigation group teammates, who were enjoying their lunches, lost their appetites instantly. As Wu Xiumin read the report, she creased her eyebrows and asked everyone, "Why do I feel like this case isn't that straightforward? There are so many facets of it that are unexplainable!"
"Such as?" Ran Tao put down his sandwich and asked her curiously.
"Look… Tao Xiang liked that woman and didn't want anyone to bully her. So, he would make whoever bullied Du Manting into a headless female corpse!" Wu Xiumin creased her eyebrows further and asked, "But, why didn't he just kill Cui Fangyu? Don't you think it was Cui Fangyu's betrayal that really led to Du Manting's death? Plus, not only did he not kill Cui Fangyu, he even helped Cui Fangyu to look for his child. This doesn't make sense..."
Wu Xiumin waited for a moment, thinking, then wondered aloud, "If Tao Xiang were to kill six women for Du Manting, why didn't he bury the skulls there right after Du Manting was buried, but instead waited for so many years? This is so confusing! Treasure and skulls, replacing one another, what's all the hassle for?"
"You're not married, so you wouldn't know!" Ran Tao started making fun of Wu Xiumin. "Do you think it's easy to raise a child? Tao Xiang was taking care of Cui Lizhu, which requires time and money. Since he needed to raise the child, he dug up the treasure and sold it off to get extra money! At least, that's my guess!"
Wu Xiumin pouted. "Just go ahead and finish your lunch and keep quiet!"
Listening to his teammates' discussion, Zhao Yu also felt that there were many fishy aspects regarding Tao Xiang. Hi guys! How have you been? We have come to the end of yet another book, and unlike the other times, I don't have much to say this time, lol. So I'll try to keep this as short as possible.

As some of you may have realised, Webnovel censored the word P A T R E O N, so all my links to the P-site had been blanked out. And before any of you think that I'm going to rant about it, I'm going to cut you off and say I support their decision to censor the P-site. Look, they are a company that needs to earn money, and I'm using their platform to promote my novel. They have every right to block the P-site if the want more authors to join their Premium, and I don't blame them for that. Yeah, it might be annoying to move around it, but I'll get by. It's not like they're trying to remove my novel away from the platform.

Being a web novelist of this genre, there's really only two options that you can go to. Royalroad is one, but the big player is actually Webnovel. According to Alexa.com, a website that tracks website traffic, Royalroad is ranked 15,168 globally, while Webnovel is ranked 3,183 (as of writing this author's thoughts). 

So not only is Webnovel the site with the better traffic, but it also has a method to boost readership, and that is to post daily. Using the algorithm, the daily updates feed will feature the novels that post every day, which is why I have maintained this gruelling schedule of writing every single day. So yeah, they may have censored the P-site, but Webnovel has given me a wider readership and boosted my overall readership, which I'm grateful for.

Now, some might ask. Why not join the Premium program then? Won't all your troubles be solved? 

I would be lying if I said I never considered it. After all, with all the controversy the P-site is having plus the constant technical issues for no apparent reason, I have considered just biting the forbidden apple. However, I would never go Premium for two simple reasons.

One, I didn't want my work to be liable to another organisation. You see, I'm already working for a boss and writing Spirit Immortal is my escape from real life. I want to have the luxury to do whatever I want with it. If I feel like writing Spirit Immortal no longer becomes fun, and instead it becomes a chore, I will stop it entirely.

Secondly, I quite dislike the Premium system where only the first hundred-odd chapters would be free while the remainder would be locked behind a paywall. Back before Webnovel became this way, I really enjoyed reading through hundreds of chapters and having the latest ten chapters locked. Something like the Wuxiaworld VIP system I guess (which is why I started a P-site with that structure in mind). I'm pretty sure many of you feel the same way. 

In a perfect world, I would love to give you all the chapters for free. After all, I want the story of Spirit Immortal to spread to as many readers as possible. However, the world ain't perfect man. I have to justify spending hours of my time every day to write this novel and passion isn't enough. As they say in my country, what is passion? Is it edible?

Each hour that I spend writing Spirit Immortal is an hour not spent improving my work skills or taking another job, or enjoying life as it is. Thus, I have to implement some sort of paywall to earn money. That's the only way I can bring myself to continue writing the novel, and to create a P-site is the lesser of the two evils I guess?

I sound like I'm berating Webnovel, but I'm really thankful that it has created such a great platform for budding web novelists. No other site in the world can offer what they have, and to give you some perspective, I shall give you the numbers.

I started posting Spirit Immortal on Royalroad on 24th April 2018 and am currently sitting at over 600 followers with 700k views. I posted Spirit Immortal on Webnovel on 29th June 2018, and I have over 5000 readers with over 2 million views. Also, they once placed me on the trending originals page even though they didn't have to. Not to mention the countless of times they featured me on daily.

As much as I loved the freedom that Royalroad had given me, they never once featured me on trending, which is kind of disappointing since I have been posting almost every day. Also, the rating system in Royalroad is kind of annoying. I once dropped 500 ranks due to one 0.5 rating, and after a huge number of 4 or 5-star ratings, it dropped heavily once more due to another 0.5 rating. So now I just ignore ratings altogether and I do the same for almost every novel I read on Royalroad.

Wait, how did I get into this tangent again? Oh right, I was talking about Webnovel's censorship of the P-site. If you really want to support me and read additional content, you can find my P-site link on my website, let's pray Webnovel doesn't censor that as well.

POSITIVE REVIEW :
This novel is really well written for a CN and the translator does a perfect job at transferring the overall mindset of the original text in a silky smooth english.
The start is slow, it took time for me to grow attached to the MC because he was still a child with a rather naive approach at life basically getting swept whatever the winds took him to, a few days to get till chapter 37 but from there I binged the rest in one sitting, this author mastered the Dao of cliffhangers and keep you on the edge of your seat, novels where the plot armor is so strong (most CN) don't have much suspense. However, in this story even if the MC has a plot armor it still fail to save him from hard times, and it keep you wondering what new scheme can he use to overcome the next obstacle.
Deserve 5 stars so far.

This is one of those novels that bored you with filler content, verbose context, extremely boring events, lack of adventure, and extremely slow pace to the point were it almost reaches your threshold.
When the adventure does pick up, it's pretty good but I'm a hard bargainer and have far better novels to read or reread.

Abstract

As global temperatures rise, large amounts of carbon sequestered in permafrost are becoming available for microbial degradation. Accurate prediction of carbon gas emissions from thawing permafrost is limited by our understanding of these microbial communities. Here we use metagenomic sequencing of 214 samples from a permafrost thaw gradient to recover 1,529 metagenome-assembled genomes, including many from phyla with poor genomic representation. These genomes reflect the diversity of this complex ecosystem, with genus-level representatives for more than sixty per cent of the community. Meta-omic analysis revealed key populations involved in the degradation of organic matter, including bacteria whose genomes encode a previously undescribed fungal pathway for xylose degradation. Microbial and geochemical data highlight lineages that correlate with the production of greenhouse gases and indicate novel syntrophic relationships. Our findings link changing biogeochemistry to specific microbial lineages involved in carbon processing, and provide key information for predicting the effects of climate change on permafrost systems.
