Sitting at the kitchen counter, half-eaten toast hanging out of my mouth, I packed my shoulder bag with the day's necessities. School started 9 AM sharp and it was my last year of Sixth Form. Having been reminded an ample number of times in the last 6 months, the year was supposedly instrumental to my future. I doubted that was true. Probably why I was running late.
Adriana stood over the ironing board, a mischievous grin planted on her face, while Bishop, her husband, and more recently my father, loomed in the hallway; his presence more felt than seen.
He wasn't that concerned about the haphazard pile of food laying on the kitchen counter, freshly produced by our very own 'expert' chef. Nor the pile of dirty dishes packed away as if they were clean. It wasn't even the combination of odors ranging from the dirty laundry to the precariously balanced pile of 'breakfast' that had Bishop frustrated that morning. Rather, it was the destruction of his favorite shirt, which she was 'expertly' ironing. How he found a miss-ironed shirt more inconvenient than being psychologically force-fed Adriana's atrocious cooking, puzzles me to this day.
Adriana didn't play into the sensitive wife and mother role well. Not in the classical, old-fashioned sense. Expecting her to iron your shirt with even a modicum of skill was an unreasoned thought. Considering all her disastrous attempts to do housework, entrusting her with your 'favorite' shirt was unquestionably a thoughtless idea. She was known to shrink our clothes when doing laundry, store dirty dishes even when she apparently cleaned them, and her sensitive mother talks could mentally obliterate an adult, let alone children. Despite all of this, she looked deceivingly weak: Short, slim, with long fair hair and a very soft voice. Her face had a hawkish quality to it. Unattractive on most, but somehow signified a contrasting sharp intelligence to her calm beauty.
In time, I saw the apathetic naivety hiding behind her onset. In time, I also became accustomed to the torment of her domestic pursuits. Occasionally, we'd even help her out with the domestic duties, but our preference for idleness and frivolous exercise made that or complaining about it difficult. At least for me.
I've lived with them for about 2 years and there was a mutual sense of comfort growing between us. Yet still, something was absent. One of those things you can't put your finger on but know it's there. It's in the way we talk to each other, our body language, our dynamics. They had at one point even tried to faintly suggest, with surprising bluntness, that it was time for me to treat them like 'real family' and not just 'cordial acquaintances.' Their words, not mine. But I could never do it or tell you why.
Wait. That's a lie. I don't enjoy lying, least of all to myself. There is a Dostoyevsky quote about that. I'm paraphrasing here but he said something along the lines of 'lying to oneself can lead to loss of truth, respect and finally love'. I don't agree. It is a loss of sanity that starts it all. Because how can you lie to yourself successfully if you haven't lost your sanity first?
There is a loss in lying; of freedom, of being unburdened. Admittedly, the complete and utter absence of pain brings with it a limited capacity for many other emotional states, fear in particular. This lack of fear materialized what my friends refer to as 'a shameful addiction to the blunt truth'. That doesn't mean I can't lie, or don't for that matter. But my condition, predictably, has warped my opinion on these matters.
The blunt truth is that I saw no reason for it. Not that I say this out of hate, I have yet to grasp such a sensation (for now I'll assume it's just an intense version of dislike). To insincerely advocate their desire for me to attach those titles to them, without a valid reason, was beyond me. Their inclusion in my life was something I appreciated. Something I wanted. But having no fear of losing them, gave me no reason to do something about keeping them.
And so, I would always end up just calling them by their first names. They'd deserved it after what they had done for me but, lamentably for them, I couldn't. It wasn't in my nature.
A bleak light plagued the kitchen that morning, the sky finding it hard to wake up with us. Bishop and Andriana were busy with their usual back and forth.
"How can you fuck up my favorite shirt you inept, failure of a wife?" Bishop boomed, covered the kitchen floor in two comfortable strides.
Bishop's frustration could make any room tense enough to cause people physical discomfort. He was a gargantuan man, nearing 7 feet. An abundance of scars covering his bulky figure and a rough beard lining the base of his face made sure his social skills were never truly tested. A long-hooked nose lay between dark brown eyes: eyes that seemed to promise comfort capriciously. Although he wouldn't admit it, his love for Adriana, being lazy, and his bizarre fixation on mints were undeniable. I'd learned to keep a stealthy stash of mints in my room just in case I spontaneously did something reckless. Which, for me, is more often than most.
At heart Bishop was simple. Not in the sense that suggested a diminished intellect, but in the case of a man that had wholly solidified his ideology. Envision seeing the world and never questioning the conclusions you have made of how you wish to integrate into that reality. I respected him for this, as much as I was able anyway. The nature of morality and its practical application, despite being a trivial matter to me, has also been especially difficult.
"Language honey, and please don't act ignorant of my one and only true talent to fuck shit up, makes me feel undervalued." I caught Adriana casually respond as I crept past them, using the staircase as cover. Slowly, to hinder detection, I left the two of them to their morning routine, before I became its target.

Cheng Lin subconsciously reached out to grab him, but she only grabbed the tie in his hand.
The Tie in Jack's palm didn't even grip it hard. With a hook, it completely slipped out of his hand and fell to the ground.
The silk-like smooth tie slipped out of Cheng Lin's palm and fell to the ground, but she felt a pain as if it was hooked by a barb.
She wanted to ask Jack to stay, but what about after she asked him to stay?
Should she agree to him?
But what if she didn't love him?
Wouldn't that obviously hurt him?
Moreover, she didn't respect Jack's love for her. Even if she wanted to agree, at least let her see that there was a place for him in her heart.
If she had to use time to prove it, it was also good that she wanted to do this. Both of them would calm down, and this kind of relationship would be more certain.
Cheng Lin didn't see Jack's dejected and disappointed turn around, or the heartbroken tears of a man.
He hoped that she would let him stay, so he turned around and walked very slowly. However, she only called his name in the end, and nothing else happened.
With every step he took, he felt as if there was a heavy weight under his feet, as if there were two huge iron balls tied to his ankles.
He was so slow that he still did not get Cheng Lin's words. He raised his eyes and looked at the beautiful night sky. The moon hung high in the sky, and the stars were everywhere. It was really too beautiful.
However, his mood was now at the bottom of the valley, and his heart was so painful that even breathing hurt.
He blinked his already wet eyes, and the corners of his mouth rose slightly. A bitter smile appeared on his face.
He took a deep breath and slowly exhaled. It was as if he had put something down, or as if he had removed the "iron ball" on his feet. He left in large strides without the slightest hesitation.
Cheng Lin watched his figure walk further and further away until his shadow was no longer visible. She then slowly placed her hand on her heart.
"There's still a place for him here, isn't there? Otherwise, why would it hurt? "
Cheng Lin murmured softly. She didn't chase after him, but went in the opposite direction with Jack.
Today's actions ended here. She just wanted to be quiet and properly sort out the feelings in her heart. She didn't want to make a decision that she regretted.
She had to do this before she saw Di Junlin make a final decision whether or not she still had him in her heart.

"Oh right, Hubby! Where did you tell er Qi to put that White Lotus? Why do I feel that it's so strange? Why did Yi Xuan and Bai Lan burn their fingers when they touched it? Don't you think that's too illogical? "
After a passionate exchange, Lan Keqin felt her mouth and tongue dry. She got up and poured a cup of boiling water by the water dispenser to drink.
As she drank, she couldn't help but think of what happened that afternoon. Every time she thought of it, she felt that it was very strange.
There were also the Purple Lotus pendants that those people gave to Anja and Xiaoqin. She felt that it was not that simple.
These three lotus flowers seemed to have life, especially di Junlin's White Lotus.
"It's a little strange, but everything goes with the flow. Moreover, a glowing lotus flower doesn't mean anything. After all, clothes nowadays can be made to look like moonlight. It's not a big deal that a lotus flower can glow. "
Di Junlin slowly stood up. He felt that it was necessary to bring the White Lotus and the diamond the size of an egg into the room.
The White Lotus looked elegant and classy. It wouldn't be bad if it was placed in the bedroom. It could even be used as a table lamp.
As for the diamond the size of an egg, he could also study it and find out how to cut it into a "Keqin Heart" and give it to the little woman in front of him.
"I think so. "
Lan Keqin nodded. She felt that she was making a fuss over nothing. After all, technology was so advanced nowadays. It was not impossible to have such a possibility.
"I'll go downstairs and bring the Lotus and diamonds up. I'll let you experience it while I'm at it. "
Di Junlin chuckled. He could feel her love for White Lotus, so he decided to put on his clothes and go down to get them.
"MM! I won't go down. I just moved in today. There are still a lot of things I haven't finished packing. I'll tidy them up first. "
Lan Keqin nodded. She got up and walked to the wardrobe. Before she moved the things in here and had no time to tidy them up, she had already arrived at Xiaoqin and Anja's wedding. She had been busy until today.
The clothes inside were all the clothes that she and Di Junlin had to wear this season. She had to hang them up. Tomorrow, she had to iron his suit and shirt. Otherwise, there would be creases.
"Don't be too tired. In the future, I will hire a few trusted servants to come back. Otherwise, you and Xiaoqin and Anja won't be able to handle it. "
He was a Germaphobe and didn't like it when the nanny touched his clothes. Before, Arthur helped him iron his clothes. Now that he had a wife, although he didn't want her to be tired, ironing the clothes that he had to wear every day felt much warmer on him.

After di Junlin went down, she took out half of the clothes in the wardrobe and hung them on the clothes rack one by one.
She ironed the clothes di Junlin was going to wear the next day and hung them on the side. Then, she started to hang up the other clothes one by one.
"Why are you taking so many out? Hurry up and put them in. If you ironed so many clothes, I wonder what time it would be in the morning. "
Di Junlin brought White Lotus and diamonds up. He saw a huge pile of clothes on the bed and saw the machine that ironed the clothes at the side. He thought that she was going to finish ironing all the clothes, so he felt sorry for her and was afraid that she would be tired.
"It's okay. I'm not ironing tonight. I'm just hanging these up first. When you go to work tomorrow, I'll be busy. "
Lan Keqin smiled gently. Even if she wanted to finish ironing, she wouldn't do it at this time.
It was already 11 o'clock at night. If she continued to iron the clothes, it would disturb his rest. He was already busy and very tired. She didn't want him to be disturbed by her when he went home.

Di Junlin heard her say that she was not going to iron the clothes, so he let out a soft "okay" . Then, he placed the two boxes in his hands on the bedside table and walked to her side to pick up the clothes rack and hang the rest of the clothes with her.

It has been uneventful since Ash left us. We went to the Ridges and check in, on our room. The reception area is wide and very spacious, it looks luxurious. The lady at the reception  is very nice and welcoming, she said that the room we booked is a twin share which boast with 2 king single dream beds, an open plan bathroom, it includes a work station for business travellers along with free broadband Internet and WI-FI access. 

It also got nice facilities, with a 42inch TV, a full stacked minibar it's got an inividually controlled air conditioning, block out curtains  and an electronic in room safe, an iron and ironing board, hairdryer, free to air and cable channels, tea and coffee making facilities.

It all sound great until we got to the room. It was fantastic! Luxurious even! I was quite shocked, I know that Skye's family is well off but this is something.

"Skye, this place is awesome!" I said to Skye.


"Yeah? It's just a room." she said nonchalantly then shrugged her shoulders. She looks a bit forlorn.


Knowing Skye since Kindy, I know that if she's like this, there's matters that needs to be addressed.

"Skye, you better spill it, what is wrong?" I asked concerned.

She just shrugged her shoulders again but I can see in her eyes that she's contemplating if she's going to say something or not.


"Come on Skye, spill it before I crush it out off you!" I said sternly.


"Fine! Your boyfriend hurt my feelings!" she said dramatically. She sounds like a petulant child whingeing.


As I listen to her, there are a couple of things running through my mind. I reacted by laughing my head off, not just a normal laugh but a belly aching laugh! 


"You... you.." I couldn't string together any words. I kept laughing and when I saw Skye, her face started to sour, not impressed.

 After a while and I calmed my laughter, I looked at Skye then thought about the whole stunt she pulled earlier on our flight. Payback!


"Hu.. hu.. hu.. He hurt my feelings!" I teased, then I put my fist in my eyes and pretended to cry. Then another bout of laughter came over me.


Skye stood up calmly but crossed her arms over her chest, clearly not happy with the turn of events.


At last I calm myself, " That's very funny! You're very funny!" I said to her.


She looked at me, "That's great! Just great! I'm glad I made you laugh in my expense! And thanks for asking!" she sulks.

" Skye, Ash only said those things because you were acting silly! Even I thought what you said to him regarding the lifeguards sounds a bit off. Have some sense of decorum, Skye. Don't act too bold or people will think you really are a floozy." I explained.


"Now you're defending him? Who's friend are you?" she said pitifully and pouting.


" Geez Skye, act your age! You look like a six years old child sulking!" I described.


"I'm not sulking, I'm upset!" she declared the sat down on her bed.


"Ok, if you're acting up tonight, I'm going somewhere and you can stay here!" I threatened her.


" Girl, you got no idea where to go and you're not leaving me alone in this room! Having dinner in a restaurant downstairs will fix this!" she declared and started to get ready for dinner.


I shook my head, then rummaged through my suitcase for a nice dress for dinner. I hang it up to freshen it.


"Can I have a shower first?" I asked Skye.


"Yeah, go for it, you stink!" she teased grinning. "For the record, I don't need your Mr. Broody to introduce me to his friends, I can find my own! I'm young, attractive, funny as you already know and full of life!"


And just like that, she's back! I was going to tease her that she is full of crap but decided against it. She bounced back already and I don't want to sour her mood for dinner or I won't hear the end of it.

"Hey Girl?" Skye said before I went to the bathroom. "Thank you for being my friend."

I remember a quote I read and memorise on my English class by Thomas J. Watson, "Don't make friends who are comfortable to be with. Make friends who will force you to lever yourself up."


And that's why, the reason why I am still friends with Skye. We do lever ourselves up because of each other. We argue about everything, we have different opinions, we clash most of the time and we exasperate each other, but in the end, we take each others advise, counsel or suggestions to better ourselves. And that's what friends are for.

I literally looked like a kid caught while stealing a cookie. I couldn't even muster myself to look into their questioning gaze." Well aren't you guys gonna say something?" I murmured. " What do you want us to say? As if you're gonna listen to whatever we have to say. Do you even have the slightest bit of idea of what might have happened to you if we weren't there?" Dave exclaimed while Stev's nosetrils started flaring and his breathing started to become shallow. He seemed like a hulk ready to smash anything infront him. " But...." I was instantly shut by Stev's reaction. He slammed his fist so hard on the table. I SWEAR I heard it cracking from the forcefull blow. 

" Diya Sharma! You have no idea how much I am trying not to lash out on you! How could you f*cking put us in dark for all these year. For god sake, you have been racing all these while under our nose and we never knew? Do you know how many people's lifes have been sacrificied in such races?" Stev stood up from his seat and looked down at me with his rage filled eyes.

" I am sorry" I muttered while Stev took a deep breath to calm himself. " Okay, but no more racing for you!" Stev said making my eyes go wide. " What!!!" I said getting up from my seat. " Yes! No more racing for you. Do I make myself clear?" Stev said giving me a hard glare. " Stev no...pls I promise I will be more carefully next time" I said giving him my best pleading look. " There is not gonna be a next time Diya" this time it was Dave. I gave him a disbelieved look. " Look Diya, I know that Stev takes decisions in haste but this time I think he has a point" he said making Stev smirk. 

" Diya Lucifer Knight is not a person who people would want to mess up with and you exactly know why. Why don't you understand it Diya?' Dave said making me look down. " You heard him Diya. So our discussion ends here and you are not stepping into that racing ground ever again" Steve said getting up from the comfy sofa. " Come on Stev...he doesn't even know my name. Forget about my name...he doesn't even know my actual gender" I said smirking. 

" Shut up Diya!!" both of them yelled in unison glaring down at me. Boy...and that actually worked and I immediately zipped my mouth. But I was not going to give up that easily. I like...no scratch that I love racing. I can't imagine my life without racing. I will surely go crazy. But my mutton head friends are being such an a**holes. 

Come on Diya...think of something. There must be a way to convince these two overprotective bodyguards who unfortunately turn out to be your best friends. Think Diya. Think! It's high time you make use of your pea-size brain. 

Suddenly, something clicked in my mind and I had a wicked smile thinking about it. " Uhm....since you guys are being very persistant in ruining my racing career, lets have a deal" I said smoothly making Dave arch his left eyebrow and making Stev scoff. " You mean persistant in saving you from serving your head in a plate to The Great Mafia Boss" Steve said curtly making me roll my eyes.

" What do you mean by A DEAL Diya" Dave asked uninterestedly. " It's simple...you guys let me race and I will do your assignments for the entire sem. What say?" I said being very proud of my skills in bargaining.

But the reaction that I actually got from what I had aspected was the exact opposite. Both of them looked at each other with a serious expression giving me hope that I definitely got this deal. Then that hope turned into confussion as both of them fell on a fits of laughter. Seriously...are they Nuts! Yup definitely.

"Guys..." I interrupted the session that they were having once I can no longer take it. "Guys!" this time it was a bit louder and making them stop abruptly. Dave took deep breaths to calm down his laughter clutching his stomach while Steve brushed off his fake tears.

"I don't understand what is so funny?" I askesd putting my hands on my hips. " YOU" both of them answered making me more irritated. "What!" I glared hard burning holes on their heads. " Aww...you look so cute when you get angry...." Steve said pulling my right cheek. I slapped his hand off my face and glared at him. " Come on Diya....you call that a deal...It was so....childish" Dave said chuckling. " Even if you would have said that you will give us a 100 billion, we would have never agreed. Because...you are more important than any f*cking deal Diya" Steve said curtly. 

As usual I was dumbfound. I couldn't say anything after that. But I am still not ready to give up racing. God....what am I suppose to do now. " Promise me Diya" Dave said making me snap out of my trance. " Uh...promise?" I said giving him a confused look. "That you won't race again" Dave said with a straight face. " But..." I tried reasoning. " Cut the crap and promise us" Steve said sternly. " Fine..." I said crashing down on the sofa with my arms crossed on my chest. " What...we din clearly hear you" Dave said putting his hands on his ears. " Ugh....Fine I won't race goddamnit" I said in a raised voice. " Promise us" Steve said looking at me pointedly. 

" I am saying right I won't race. So I won't race. Besides, you guys know that I don't do this promise shit thingy. I have never promise anything. Remember." I said in a duh tone. " Yeah tell me about it" Dave murmured which didn't go unnoticed by me. " Fine...but remember you gave us your word" Steve said making me nod up and down. 

" Okay so I guess this is it Diya. We will take our leave" Dave said walking towards the closed door of our apartment. " Okay" I said being a bit sulky. " Take care little sis..." Steve said while crushing me with a bear hug while Dave ruffled my hair which already looked like bird's nest.

" You too. Take care" I said returning their hugs. " Bye Diya". " Bye bye " both of them said one after another while exitting the door. I took a deep breath and sighed in relieve. Wait....what is that smell....seems familiar...

I trailed the smell sniffing like a puppy. I entered my room and my gaze fell on the ironing board. Reality hit me hard turning my eyes into zeroes. Shit! Shit! Shit! I totally forgot about my pants that I was ironing moments ago before my friends arrived.

I quickly ran towards the iron and switched it off. Once I took my pants to examine it I was welcomed with a pungent smell with two holes on either sides of the pants. Damn you Diya! Damn you! Hawwww....I can't believe my favourite pants has burned....Why god?...whyyyyy?

' Siraj, have you tracked his number? This guy is really dangerous Siraj. The faster we get him, the better it will be for us and our country' I told my assistant who has been working with me in this case for the past 4 months. 

" Ma'am, trust me our team has been working their ass off to crack this guy but we still have no clue about him. It's like he is using different sim cards every one minute and the signals keep on showing that his sim card is being activated from different countries across the world at the same time and that too from the same sim card! Even our best IT team have been cracking their heads to trace him" Siraj said apologetically.

" No Siraj! We have to find this guy before he plans anything funny again. He is a treat to the country. We have to tear that mask of a businessman that he has been using to fool people around him and to do that we have collect evidence against him" I said going through our suspect's case file with determination.

" But ma'am, this guy is so good in whatever he is doing. He never leaves any evidence behind his crimes. He is too smart and wicked for his own good" Siraj said irritatedly. " I know that he is amazing in clearing the crimes that he has commited but we must also not forget that even a clever thief will leave something behind for the dogs to sniff. What I am trying to say is that the evidences are already there! We just have to push ourselves a little bit harder to reach them" I said making Siraj nod in agreement.

" MA'AM! MA'AM!" we heard someone calling me and running towards our investigation room. Suddenly, the door flung open revealing a panting Nate. "Ma'am! There, there is so- something that you might what to see! Our IT team has found something about the guy that we have been tracking recently. I think you should see it..." Nate my colleague said breathlessly.

Siraj looked at me expectantly and I returned the same look. All three of us rushed out of the room immediately like how one would react seeing food after starving for a very long time. Currently, we are the starved ones and the piece of information that we have got now is the food that is going to lead us towards him. 

I really hope this time whatever information they found would be handy is some way. Hope I don't get dissapointed this time. I thought as all three of us sprinted towards the IT room.

Levin laughed. "You'll be fine. She's rich, but that doesn't mean everyone and his brother is going to try to kidnap her. It's going to be boring work."

"If you say so."

"Her plane will land at 10:30 at night. I'll be at Gemini tomorrow evening around seven, so I'll pass you the car keys there."

"Okay. By the way, her hotel is the same, right?"

"Yeah, same hotel. The room is different, though. Anyway, I have to get back to work now. I'll see you tomorrow."

"Alright, see you."

Raine hung up, shut his laptop, and leaned back in his chair, eyes to the ceiling. 'I should have stayed in shape after graduating. Dammit.'

He wasn't looking forward to hanging around a spoiled rich girl for the next five weeks. But money, money, money. No money, no beer. That kept him motivated.

He got up and opened his wardrobe. Beside shelves full of jeans and T-shirts, there were suit jackets and blazers hanging inside, all of them untouched for over a year. He grabbed a blazer at random and tossed it onto his bed. Then he grabbed a pair of jeans and a black shirt and closed the wardrobe.

He ironed his clothes in the living room, where the ironing board and iron were kept. Although it was painful because of his arms' soreness, it was still boring enough that his mind wandered.

The throw hadn't been a good idea. The thought suddenly occurred to him. He should have tripped the mugger backward instead.

'Oh well. It's not like I'm being judged for it. Hopefully, I'll never have to deal with a situation like that ever again.' After finishing the ironing, he went back into his room, cleared his desk, and put his clothes there. He yawned.

'Even if I'm a crappy bodyguard, at least I'll look good.' He fell onto his bed and set a timer on his phone. Then he closed his eyes to take a nap.

"Haha! Take that, Dominic!"

"Yes, yes. Round two."

"I've found your weakness, man. All I have to do is keep spamming spinning shit, and you can't even—oh."

"Yeah, you were saying?"

Raine turned in his bed. Light peeked into his room through the crack of the door. He opened his eyes and kicked away his blanket. His phone was in his hand. He flipped it open and saw that the timer had been turned off. He must have done that in his sleep. Shaking his head, he slowly got up and turned on the lights.

It was about 6:30 PM. He was so hungry that his stomach hurt. He washed his face, ran his wet hands over his hair to try to flatten it (it didn't work), and left his room.

Dominic and Jordan were slouching on the two-seater sofa in the living room with video-game controllers in their hands.

"Hey," Raine said to them as he went to the fridge.

"Oh, hi," Dominic said, shooting a glance at him before his gaze went right back to the TV screen.

"Hey," Jordan said. Unlike Dominic, he didn't let his eyes leave the screen. His button pressing was becoming button mashing.

"There's some pizza in the fridge for you," Dominic said to Raine.

"Aw, dammit!" Jordan lost the round.

"Alright, thanks," Raine said. He spotted it. One slice of pepperoni pizza. Goddamn pepperoni. 

He pulled it out of the fridge and put it in the microwave. He poured himself a glass of cold water and ate the slice of pizza in huge bites. 'Oh well. Beggars can't be choosers.'

"Oh, I'm going to be away for a few weeks. I got a temporary job," Raine said, washing his plate and cup.

"What?" Jordan said, his eyes going wide.

"Huh, cool," Dominic said. He was still playing the game. "What's the job?"

"Some bodyguard work for a rich girl," Raine said.

"Sounds fun."

"If all goes well, it'll be pretty boring."

"Goddammit!" Jordan cried. His character was dead again. He lost the match. "That was cheap, man!"

"Hey, you never called for a truce," Dominic said with a shrug.

Jordan groaned. "One more match?"

"Well..." Dominic glanced at his phone. "Yeah, I guess there's time for just one more."

"Haha!" Jordan said. As he waited for Dominic to pick a character, he asked, "Raine, is the girl famous?"

"Probably not," Raine said. With that, Jordan lost interest. The match started, and he and Dominic stared intently at the screen with their thumbs tapping up a storm like they were possessed by gaming spirits.

Raine went back into his room, moved his clothes from his desk to his bed, and turned on his laptop. After seeing Jordan and Dominic gaming, he felt like playing Planet E. He launched the game and put on his headphones.

He pulled up the in-game map and stared at it for a few moments before opening the chat. He asked his alliance members, "Anyone up for taking Blue City St. 15A with me?"

He left the chat open while he made his way to Blue City, this time by the normal route, not a shortcut. It took him a little over ten minutes to get there. There still wasn't a response in the chat. He shrugged.

Bang, bang, bang. At Street 15A, he aimed and fired, aimed and fired. Whether it was a monster or an enemy player, he shot them the moment they entered his view. One bullet to break the shield, two to kill. There was minimal risk of a high-level monster appearing here. The only monsters he encountered were goblins and lesser orcs. As for the enemy players, some were tricky, some were stupid, and others were just annoying, but every one of them lost to him in a gunfight. He spent half an hour roaming the area, shooting every enemy in sight without himself taking more than two hits. Then he planted his alliance's flag in the middle of the street and guarded it. Waves of monsters came. Aim, fire, and reload. Aim, fire, and reload. It took twenty minutes to conquer the small street.

The game announced to everyone in Blue City that he took Street 15A. Raine raised his arms in celebration. His expression was blank, though. It hadn't been fun.

But he kept playing. He didn't feel like doing anything else. He was repulsed by even the thought of working now. And there wasn't a single book on his desk or in his computer that interested him. He didn't even want to get beer. It would be too much work.

He was playing Planet E because it was the easiest thing to do. The momentum was there. He just had to let it carry him forward. It was the ocean, and he a sailor in a rowboat. The waves pushed him forward. He could resist. He could grab the oars and, if not control, at least affect where he went. But he didn't want to go in any particular direction. So he did what was easiest. He let the ocean take him where it pleased.

And so the ocean did. For four hours.

Raine buttoned his single-breasted blazer in front of his bathroom mirror. He brushed his hair back with his hands and practiced a polite smile. In his hand was an aluminum briefcase with everything he needed for the next five weeks. He patted the left side of his chest to make sure his packet of tissues and bottle of mouthwash were in the inside pocket of his blazer. He took a deep breath.

'Okay. I got this. Time to get $3,000.' He turned off the lights and left his room. The only other person in the apartment was Jordan, who was reading a novel on the living room sofa. Raine said goodbye, and Jordan waved his hand with his eyes still on his book.

Raine left the apartment and headed for the Gemini Cafe. It somehow felt good to walk around with his briefcase again. He hadn't used it in over a year. It made him feel like he was about to go make money, which was exactly the case.

As he approached the cafe, he spotted a BMW i8 parked beside the sidewalk. Right in front of it was a black Bolstridge G4, a luxury sedan. The car had a decent look, but it wasn't the kind to turn any heads.

There wasn't a Mercedes in sight. Raine wondered about that as he strode into the Gemini Cafe. Levin waved at him from a table at the back. A brown-haired woman was sitting in front of Levin and watched Raine with bored eyes.

"Hey, Raine," Levin said. "Let me introduce you to Louise."

"It's a pleasure to meet you," Raine said to her with a smile. He extended his hand.

"The pleasure's mine," Louise said. She shook his hand. Her grip was firm, and he felt calluses on her hands.

"She'll be the head bodyguard and your boss for the next few weeks," Levin said. "Just to make it clear, Sora's words take priority over hers, and mine take priority over Sora's."

"Got it," Raine said, taking a seat. "By the way, about the car. . ."

"Yeah. The change in dates messed things up, so I'll lend you a Bolstridge instead." Levin shrugged. "It's not a bad car, even if it isn't as pretty as a Mercedes. Sora won't mind. Probably."

"That doesn't exactly inspire confidence."

"Hey, I've only met her briefly a few times, so I can't be sure. But I've heard that she doesn't care much about cars."

Louise drank tea as they spoke. Raine had a feeling she was very bored.

"I'm just curious, Louise, but what did you do before this job?" Raine asked.

"I was in the army." She finished her tea. "I didn't do much else."

She was obviously uninterested in conversation. Raine smiled politely and nodded. Then he continued talking with Levin about the job.

They spent almost half an hour at Gemini before they started moving. There was still plenty of time before Sora landed, and Raine wanted to head to the airport at a relaxed pace. Louise was different.

"I think we should go now," she said, glancing at her watch. Raine looked at it too, but not to see the time.

'Huh, nice watch. $100.' It was a bad habit he picked up from his time on Wall Street.

"It's a little early, but sure," Levin said. He passed Raine the smart key to the Bolstridge. "Try not to scratch it."

"Of course," Raine laughed.

They left the coffee shop. Levin unlocked his car and opened the door.

"I'll see you, Raine. Good luck!" he said with a smile. "I'm sure you'll do great."

"Thanks. And thanks again for the job. See you," Raine said.

"Good bye," Louise said.

Raine unlocked the Bolstridge and opened the trunk, where he put his briefcase and Louise put her backpack. Then he entered the driver's seat, while she got into the passenger seat.

"Do you mind if I turn on the radio?" she asked a few minutes later.

"Go ahead," Raine said.

And that was the only conversation they had for the entire drive. Pop music and advertisements played while Raine tried to get used to how the G4 handled and Louise read something on her smartphone.

The traffic was soul-destroying, as it tends to be in L.A. When they finally reached the airport and parked, Louise got off and stretched. Raine opened the trunk and grabbed a book from his briefcase before locking the car. They headed for the nearest cafe to kill the time they had before Sora's arrival. Once there, Raine read his book, a nonfiction work he had carefully picked. He didn't keep track of time; that was Louise's job. She was the one who was going to get Sora from the arrival hall.

He was over sixty pages into his book when Louise got up. 

"She should land in ten minutes," Louise said, putting away her phone.

"Okay. I'll get the car in five," Raine said. He turned to the next page of his book.

Louise frowned. "How about now?"

Ah, I should have expected that. Raine closed his book. He smiled politely. "Sure."

With the time it took to reach the arrival hall after landing, it was unnecessary for them to leave the cafe soon. He hoped she was just nervous and wanted things to be perfect in their first day on the job. If that wasn't the case, he was not going to enjoy the next five weeks.

She strode to the arrival hall, and he headed to the parking lot at a snail's pace.

He took his time getting into the car, putting on his seatbelt, and starting the engine. He turned on the radio and drove out of the parking lot. At the terminal of Sora's flight, he pulled up to the curb. Then he waited. And waited. And waited.

He finally got a call from Louise. She told him where she wanted to meet. He was already there.

A few minutes later, he saw her. Not Louise, though she was in sight.

No, the one he was looking at was the person beside Louise. He was speechless. He had never before seen someone who could scream "Money!" as loudly as her without even opening her mouth.

Raine just wanted some money. All he needed was enough to get his business rolling. But when he agreed to take a much-needed job from his college friend Levin, he hadn’t expected to get stabbed, shot, and chased at midnight in L.A. with a drunk girl in the back seat of his car. And he certainly hadn’t agreed to join a strange organization based in another world, where he’s soon sent off to compete with half a dozen other people whose names he forgets instantly, for the sake of a job involving blood, sweat, and intensive foreign language study the likes of which he hasn’t experienced since his senior year of high school.

The new world, however, is darker than his friends let on. They sold it to him as the land of hope and second chances, a simple but beautiful place where he could put his many failings behind him and get a new start. Ignorant, trusting, and naive, he believed them.

But they lied.

When Hermione first woke up she couldn't figure out where she was. Slowly she remembered last night. Yes, she was finally in Hogwarts.

She immediately emptied her truck and went to the bathroom after choosing her clothes. She quickly wore her school uniform after showering and brushing her teeth.

After putting her books on the shelf, she hung the clothes in the closet. She was lucky that she did not have to worry about ironing or cleaning because of the enchantments. When she went down to the common room, she couldn't see anyone around. She immediately chose a book of her interest from the bookcase next to the fireplace and sat on one of the seats. After a while, upper class students started to go down.

"Good morning," said a blonde girl, smiling. "You're early. Breakfast wıll be ready in half an hour, do you want to come with us?" she asked.

"Thank you for your offer. Why not?. I'm used to waking up with the first light of the morning. Do you know when the lessons begin?" Hermione asked.

"You will not have a lot of lessons because you are first class, only the main lessons. So your first lesson starts at 9:30 am - 10:00 am. Don't worry. Professor Flitwick(our head of house)will deliver the curriculum. You can also find announcements and the questions shared on the board,  it hangs on the wall between the stairs. " She said whıle pointing and she brought a book from the bookcase and started reading it.

"Thank you," Hermione said, and walked over to the board after replacing the book.

The school rules in the booklet, which were given when purchasing their books, were written on the board, there were only minor differences so Hermione started reading the rules:

Rules of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

1. First years who answer questions for the first lessons correctly earns 10 points whichever houses they belong.

2. Each correct answer will be awarded 5 to 10 points by professors and with each wrong answer 5-10 points will be deducted.

3. Bullying is prohibited. Those who fight and bully if caught will cause 10 to 15 points to be deducted in case it`s proven that spell are used 20 to 50 points will be deducted.

4. 5 points will be deducted for taking library books out of castle without permission.

5. 5 points will be awarded each students helping their classmates for practical courses.

6. Between  10:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. students are forbidden to leave house rooms. 20 to 50 points will be deducted if caught wondering corridors or castle by stuffs and prefects.

7. Students will be deducted 10 points for being late to their classes without  permit (except the first years first class)

8. All professors should be respected and 10 points will be deducted for insulting teacher.

9. Winner of Quidditch will be awarded by 200 points, runner ups 150 points, third house 100 points and the fourth house 50 points.

10. Winner House of House Cup will be awarded privileges the next year till the end of the year.

They will be exempted from curfew for extra one (11:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m. for the winner house) . They can read books from restricted shelves in the library with the permission of professor. Each member of house has a right to be exempted from any exam or homework for once and will not lose points and have average passing mark for their exam or homework.  Quidditch  team can reserve training grounds for Fridays. (Be warned those privileges will be lost next year if not used )

And so on the rules were going on. It was nearly time for breakfast and Hermione with others went to the great hall but it was deserted and only some Hufflepuffs and Slytherins were in the hall, no Gryfinndor.

Professor Flitwick came to their table and gave their curriculum. Hermoine quicly looked it and focused on today's courses:

According  to the schedule they had nine lessons and three joint lessons with each houses. Potions, flying and Charms with Hufflepuffs;  DADA, Magical Theory and Astronomy with Slytherins and Herbology, Hıstory of Magic and Transfiguration with Gryfinndors.  An interesting year is waiting them. As she thought about future she kept eating her breakfast and then returned her room for preparing the first day.

The protagonist finds herself in HP as Hermione Granger. She starts a new adventure in a new world.

Later in East of Magnolia somewhere in a forest
There lies a huge tree at first glance, it is easy to confuse anyone thinking its one of the trees growing in the East Forest, as the base for its construction is most likely one of the local trees. It is hollow in the middle, and there is a fairly large room located inside. Stocks have been pierced in a few areas, creating openings for windows and a massive, ornate door. The land around the house was left unchanged, apart from the creation of paths and a few stairs leading to the main entrance.
Inside the hollow out tree trunk furniture, there is consists of a bed, a working desk, several tree stumps for stool, and numerous crates and barrels. There is also a large collection of books placed on shelves. In the bed there Lying a black-haired boy wearing an adorable little panda hoodie while beside him sitting in a chair reading a book an old women slim and tall elderly woman with pink hair, tied in a bun on the back of her head by two large pins with crescent moon-shaped edges, and with two bangs of hair left framing her face. She has reddish eyes, and a beauty mark located below her mouth, on the left side of her face reading a book.
She notices the boy's eyelids were moving has he starting to awake from his slumber.

"AH, I'm so tried....where am I? Ouche" I tried to open my eyes while looking around see bandages wrapped around his legs and arms in a bed. ' The last thing I remember was Gildarts was chasing all over town then the only way to escape I ate that dying will bullet then everything went blank. '
"Don't Move!" I heard a stern voice saying to him then look towards voice direction
He glances at the figure he recognized old women it was Porlyusica who healed him before.
"Ahem... Done daydream boy Rest now this is the second time in six months I had to treat you It is not even a year since you joined yet already causing so much commotion" told Porlyusica sternly scolding the trouble maker
In Silver defense, all he did was laughed "shi Shiii shi shiiiii Its more fun this way" with a goofy grin plastered on his face while rubbing his head.
Porlyusica snort hearing his words
"So... where am I? granny?" asked Silver while around one-room home which gives a small yet comfy and homie feel to it.

"Who are you calling granny brat?" said menacingly if looks can kill he would have died hundreds of times already

Silver wanted to say her but hold it in he had a feeling if he said that He suffers much more compare to getting caught by Gildarts.

"I found near my forest passed out wearing nothing but your hoodie and your underwear " explained Porlyusica while look at him has he some pervert

Silver absently nodded along while feeling all his body and looking window outside which surprisingly dark. " You sleep here tonight I don't Markov kids die by some wild animal attack " and walked away to the kitchen.

After dinner which Porlyusica gracefully gave him. He liked it, he gave her a compliment in response snort at him for dessert Silver gave her come Ice cream which he stored in his inventory for just special occasion. Silver was missing Cana who usually has dinner with him.

"Brat you sleep in the bed and Never.....I mean Never disturb my sleep GOT IT!!!" said Menacingly her pink hair looks like she dyed in blood her sharp eyes piercing through him like he is naked in front of her.

"A-ah...Granny, you sleep in the bed I will sleep in the ground"

"I SAID You Got IT!!!" said angrily with sharp glares

"g-ggot it" replied Silver decided to shut himself up and nodded feeling a little bit afraid of her

"Good Now Sleep. I Want you out first thing tomorrow" said her while lying down on a mat blew her candle out.

To bad for Silver running away from Gildarts and Porlyusica rage stares back to back and with physical and mental exhaustion traumatized him a bit. All night he had nightmares of Gildarts chasing him with Porlyusica with needles and Syringes for fingers to give him medicine and to take his blood he really missed Cana right about now someone to cuddle with and feel safe.

----Next Morning---

Silver got up early in the morning before the sunrise seeing Porlyusica not awake feeling much better-decided start his regular routing of practicing making sure not to disturb her carefully walked outside and took out a steel pole and his Dummies Guide for Foundation Staff Technique book started to practice.

Seeing she not answering Silver did not bother himself started to meditation focuses only on his soul has it slowly absorbed energy from the plane directly to his soul without touching his body while the hood of the void was busy healing him small spiral of energy was circling around him.
After done his training Silver walked to the treehouse still not Porlyusica feeling hungry went to the kitchen took some pots and pans from his inventory and a magical oven thinking over what to cook. Which he can give later to Cana has well he had a feeling to meet Cana he had to go through Gildarts what better way is to bribe him with food. He decided to make Super nutritious breakfast good for kids and old age custard Bun with Indian bread Pakora with Stuffed rice balls.
Silver not wanting take any risk took all his ingredients he got in daily quests to impress Gildarts was well grateful for healing to Porlyusica breakfast.
He brought out a millennium flour, holy water from elven spring, yeast made by god of cooking, salt from Aqua Laguna(One piece), milk from a divine cow, an egg from a crossbreed between a phoenix and a hen, 5 flavor potatoes, rice from high spiritual energy plane, Japanese pickled plums, seaweed grown by a system of the god of cooking, 100 years grown herbers and spices and sugar harvested from thousand-foot sugar cane.
Even one of these ingredients can be wars fought over to obtain one of the ingredients, Can help develop a strong foundation that can make you a once in a 100 years prodigy.
Silver cooked the rice in a rice cooker made in triangle shape wrap it in seaweed in center Umeboshi
While making Bread dough Porlyusica was slowly starting to get up as she could hear noises in her kitchen.
"What is that brat doing?" feeling irradiated to get up from getting up her sleep
Meanwhile, Silver already made the custard and the dough he combined it together and was ready to bake it in the oven with the Petalite board that he got to make the bread more delicious.
'Pealite Baking board' from 'Yakitate!! Japan' which as a special characteristic that it can reflect heat over ten times better than regular iron.
If you bake bread in a magical oven, it concentrates heat to a high degree and that alone gives delicious bread. while the plank concentrates more heat than the stone making the bread cook well and faster than regular.
Silver then placed all the raw custard buns in the Petalite board and laid in the two table desk size oven

While buns getting done. He took out some 100 years old cottage cheese(Paneer) with 5 flavor cooked potatoes mashed together  in a bowl then in a pan toss it in  Mix with  spices & medical herbs
Then took some bread slices chopped it into triangle slices. Taking mashed potato mixture and spread it on the bread evenly.
Then dipped it in gram flour carom seeds, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, asafoetida (hing) mixed batter.
Preheating oil in the Kadhai slowly one by one bread slices sizzling in the oil until both sides are lightly golden. While taking Some into his inventory for Cana and Gildarts
By this time Porlyusica's whole house filled with his delicious cooking smell. Porlyusica gulped has her mouth started to water unknowingly from the smell.
Silver noticing her smiled at her "Come you are just in time for breakfast" said while *TING~ sound
Silver has he open the oven heavenly breeze through the house. Porlyusica can not help but take a deep breath of it. Took out the top tray filled with custard buns has sweet essence explored in the area. while For the bottom half took into his inventory for Cana and Gildarts
"Grap a seat then we can Digg in," said Silver
Like an obedient child, she unintentionally followed as he set down the plates"Dig in"
She took a bun took a bite *Crunch* "Mmmmm~~~" moaned Porlyusica thought this 'how can be so crunchy so sweet the custard little sweet and savor blending with each other so perfectly feel back home with my mother together without a care in the world simpler times'

Seeing this Silver was secretly glad he kept aside some potions for Cana without getting noticed and pleased of himself for cooking this.
After finishing their breakfast still, some leftover still left  Porlyusica felt 30 years younger her constant back pain completely gone she felt more youthful and stronger than ever before.
"So How was it?" asked Silver curious for her response.
Porlyusica reluctantly told honestly  "Thank Silver for the meal it was the best meal I ever had in my life"
Silver feeling proud in hearing this.
After breakfast, Porlyusica gave a quick check on Silver then told "You are all better. Leave!!"
Silver caught off guard asked again to make sure his ears are working"E-excuse me?" 
"Leave! you're healed up"
"...." 
Silver took some time process this but woke up when he heard an angry voice
"What are you are still doing here?! Go home already! I hate humans!" said Porlyusica while chasing Silver out with a broom on her hand threatening to hit him.
Silver ran away from the house but not before shouting "Thanks for everything granny I will be back" while promising himself to visit once in while she feels lonely.
If he had turned and looked at Porlyusica he would be shocked to find a small smile on her face.
"Don't come back you brat" Shouted Porlyusica while rising her broom.

Silver walking around the forest finally remembers something he doesn't which direction is the guild "Shit !!! where am I going? which way is the guild? that way? or maybe that way? walking in circles???" to him all trees look alike.
Just as he was about to give up hope a familiar Ding sound he heard in his head
[ Go 12 miles northwest to reach Magnolia ]

"Oh thanks..... but why didn't you tell me before"

[ Because..... I was having fun watching you running around the forest like an idiot ]

'Don't think about it.You should be focusing  on your new dancing school'
'Okay'

-Bladt went into his room and lay down on his bed-

It's a tiring day but fun. I'm looking forward of what's gonna happen tomorrow. I am so excited.

A new day has come. It's 3:30 am

-Bladt went out of his room and goes down to the living room. There, he saw his older sister Bianca, doing her homeworks-

'Oh, you're up so early.'
'Yup.I'm finishing my work'
'Oh Yeah right. Okay then' 

-Bladt walks and then stop to get into his little brother's bedroom- 

This little brother of mine is named Daniel.He is the youngest in my sibling.
'Danny, good morning lil boi. Time to wake up and get ready for school.'

-Daniel didn't even bother to move-

hmm not waking up, huh?

'Wake up later and take shower okay, I'll go and iron my clothes. Do you want me to iron your clothes too?'
'Yeah sure. Whatever' Daniel said in a sleepy tone.

-Bladt takes his little brother's school uniform and walk out of the room. He is heading to the loundry room to iron the clothes. In the middle of the way, he stopped infront of his big brother's room and walk in.He saw his big brother at the study table on his phone. Bladt walk out of the room, close the door and then continued to the loundry room.He goes there because it is where they usually iron their clothes-
                                 
-Bladt is ironing the clothes-

Suddenly, his older sister Bianca comes in with her clothes.

'Uii, Faster la. Mine wants to be iron too'
'Eish, you woke up so early, why didn't you iron that first?'
'Hello, I was doing my homeworks la. You saw me kan. hahaha 😝' 
'Okay lah, wait till I'm finish. You can iron Danny's clothes ka?'
'yea yeah can'
'Tengkiu😙'

-suddenly, their big brother came in with his clothes. He gave the clothes to Bladt-

'Thanks' The big brother said. And walk out of the room.Bladt then look at his sister and smiles. 

'Ya ya I'll iron that too.' His sister Bianca says.
'Hihihi. So kind my sister today ohh'
'Ish you go lah and take shower oredy, you gonna make everyone else late.You shower the longest!'
'Haha ya ya later I take. There is still someone in the bathroom' Bladt replies.
'Oh okay then'

*After everyone took shower.

-Grandmother is making tea in the kitchen.  
-Daniel is wearing shoes at the living room . 
-Big brother and Bianca are sitting on the sofa while playing their phone in the living room. 
-Aunty fall asleep while sitting on the sofa in the living room.

'Hey Bianca, are you messaging your boyfriend again? You've been chatting with him like every single day! Will it never be enough for you?' Bladt said
'Hmph Biarlah.Me punya boyfriend kan 😉'
'No, you are totally wrong Bianca' - big brother said.
'What is it that is wrong?🤔' Bianca asked.
'In this family, One's boyfriend, is All's boyfriend too 😝' -Big brother jokes.

-Bladt and all his siblings laughed.- 

And then, their grandmother brings the tea.

'You have to drink the tea first xiao Danny. You go to school the earliest.' Grandmother said.

-Daniel drinks his tea and so is everyone.-
suddenly, Aunty stands up and caries her handbag.

'Lets go now Danny'
'Alright.Bye bye all'
'Take care at school' Grandma said
-Daniel greets his grandmother and his older siblings and then rushes out to chase his auntie-

Well.. you see, In my family my aunty is a teacher. She and Danny are the only one's that goes to school by bus. Danny is still in elementary school and he's 11. Me,my sister and my big bro are all walking to school.We are on secondary school.I was in the same school as them, but I got an offer from the dancing school. And so, that's when this all started, my new dancing school life.I have one more sister and she's the eldest but,.. She's not here living with us. She's at another district studying in a University.

-Bladt stands up and carries his bag-
'Well, I'm going too lah.Bye bye' 
'Okay xiao Bladt , Take care at school.'-Big brother said.
'Not so xiao anymore o, haha😂' Bianca said.

-Bladt greets his grandmother and his older siblings. And then went out of the house and walks to school- 

Usually, I go to school earlier than my older siblings but it all depends on who takes bath first. If they take bath earlier than me, then I'm gonna be a bit late. My big brother's name is Lee and my eldest sister is Lyly. That's pretty much of what's happening here at my house everyday.
