I failed to gather the required amount of the pre-orders, that's why the Kindle Unlimited will be opened. Here is not the question of the money, but the rating is important. When the book is on the bottom - no one will buy it. Unfortunately, translating and money are inseparable things.

The night air was full of smoke as a haze descended on the city, making it difficult to see for those without advanced senses. The false moon of the night sky obscured, granting a near perfect darkness

"It begins." Thought Seraph as he looked down from his vantage point on the rock hilltop near the guild headquarters of Carrion Crow, on the outskirts of the woods. Watching as humans and elves ran around in panic. Watching with keen interest as they tried to put out multiple fires set on his orders by the saboteurs seeded throughout the city in preparation.  

"Brothers, sisters." Said Seraph, speaking to the assembled group, his tone steady but hushed as he addressed the men and women under his command, prompting them to group up around him to better and clearly hear what he had to say. "It's been a long three years since I first was thrown into the dungeon, and in all those days I have never been happier than I am now, I am proud of all of you. Some of you have been with me since the early days, and some of you have joined our family more recently. But tonight, we are all equal in this fight."

Pausing to look around, Seraph saw the reverence of his guild members towards him as they nodded their heads in approval and cheered. In their eyes he saw a reflection of his own bloodlust. An attitude that Seraph both cultivated in his subordinates, and was attracted to in the recruitment of prospects.  

"Our guild moves to cement control of Hometown. Our enemies, the guilds Legend led by the three, and Chaos led by the Demon Dominic are near total collapse.  Even now our brothers in the field do their diligent work, their operations paramount to our success if we are to bring our enemies to heel." Seraph explained as he worked the crowd. 


"And now it's our turn." His voice dropping low, drawing them in, Seraph's voice growing somber as he fed on their energy and built up their morale. "We march on the elves and we march on the rest of our enemies.  Anyone who has not stood with us, are against us, and tonight we take control from them forever."

Seraph made a fist and put it over his heart as he looked at the members of his guild, looking each one in the eye in acknowledgement and respect. Each standing a looking straighter as Seraph calmed their nerves with a look.The gesture was for their behalf and they appreciated it. As for Seraph, he knew they would fight that much harder for him. 

With a nod to all of his Lieutenants, Seraph ordered the operation to commence. The group dispersing as they all began to move out in their teams as each headed off into the night to engage with their targets. 

Climbing up onto the rocks, Seraph spread his wings, the black feathers symplogic of the guild and watched them all go, hanging back in a position of overwatch until the last of his guild members had passed beyond his line of sight.  Ensuring too, that he was not seen by any of them before jumping off the rock and swapping out the outfit of Guild leader, and donning the simpler outfit of a regular member of Carrion Crow.  




Even his wings were hidden by a glamour as he walked down the hill in front of the guild headquarters. Seraph would not put his men into danger and not join the fight too. Zoldos could handle the command node on his own. The man was an anomaly like that, his Hand of the Zephyr ability allowed him to manage data at a rate no one else could keep up with, if he had any talent with the blade he would have been unbeatable, but it was not to be and Seraph benefitted from this. For functional tasks, it was better for Zoldos to manage and better for Seraph to go into the field, even if it was in disguise.

His blood pounding as adrenal flooding his veins, Seraph broke out into a light run.  Careful though to avoid making too much noise or strain his stamina prematurely. Making sure to keep to the hillside path that led through the forested area around the Guildhall, rather than trudge through the underbrush and low hanging branches.

Approaching the edge of the treeline, he slowed his movement to a crawl, keeping his profile low as he approached the first set of buildings on the outskirts of Hometown. Seraph decided against going down the main road, careful to avoid garnering attention. Wanting to avoid anyone questioning why a lone soldier of Carrion Crow would be traveling alone as the city lay in chaos.  

Seraph turned instead and walked down the alley behind the buildings to stop, listen, and observe. The streets were full of noises as people ran by him, their own pressing concerns better concealment then the shadows he had retreated into. This was a night of tears and pain as cries for mercy went ignored. For many who had opposed him and the growth of humanity in the dungeon. From everywhere around him he could hear the sounds of fighting.

Seraph allowed himself a smile, and though he was excited to group up with his guild mates and fight alongside them under the cover of his disguise, providing him a measure of anonymity, he resisted. Seraph knew it was not his time yet to join the fight, and when he did, it would not be under the guise of a lowly foot soldier. The most powerful of the elves had not yet revealed themselves, and Seraph's power would be needed to intercede and cut them off, to ensure his men were not annihilated.  

Victory was close, as close as they had ever come in these last few years, but the possibility of losing still existed. Seraph knew that victory tonight was not guaranteed.  To reach the point where this coup, this insurgency was possible had been difficult and owed more to luck than even the efforts of him and his men.

Seraph and a few of his most trusted Lieutenants had arranged for accidents and committed assassinations of some of the Elven leaders and a few of their elite soldiers, tossing the bodies into the Gehenna Pits to prevent respawn and prevent the spread of information.  If the Elves had been allowed to group together, the entirety of Carrion Crow would have been repealed and destroyed. Seraph was powerful, but not even he could take on so many who were similiary strong. 

"Sometimes when brute force fails, the subtle knife can find a way." Thought Seraph as he looked up at the moon and waited.

The sound of feet running down the alleyway interrupted his thoughts and he turned to face the newcomer, pulling his sword from its sheath and stepping out into the road to block off escape. But as the man approached, the light revealed details of his face. Seraph could see this was no elf, it was a man wearing the emblem of the Legends guild, and in his arms,  he carried an injured child. Seraph stepped out of his way and disappeared into the shadows as tears ran down the man's face as he ran towards whatever safety he could find. "The dungeon could be a harsh teacher." Thought Seraph. "Many learn the hard way that the healing of the dungeon does not work during times like these when control of an area is being contested."

Concealed within the darkness, Seraph allowed the man to pass unmolested, only to watch as the man put the injured child down behind a stack of boxes and told the child "They won't come to get you here. They're all running too. Please, please be alive when I get back, I'm going to get you help I promise, I'll be back. There shouldn't be any elves here anymore." As the child wept, the man pressed his finger against the child's lips as he ran away into the night."

Seraph watched for a moment before reaching into his spacial pocket and moving to help. "Hey kiddo." Said Seraph. "I'm going to put this gauze on you, it'll help to stabilize your injury until you can get healed. What's your name anyways?" 

The child didn't respond for a minute as if debating in his head whether he should say anything.

"Kiddo, I just saved your life. Don't waste that." Chided Seraph with a low laugh, his words blunt, but lacking his usually menace. 




The child understood the undertone of the threat levied his way. "It's Reverend."

Gradually, Seraph began to regain his consciousness, his head pounding from the worst headache he had likely ever experienced in this life and the previous one. The pain of which seemed to be infinitely worse than any wound he had received, a list that included the very wounds he had died from. 

Thankfully though the lights in the room were all back on.  The room itself had reset sometime while Seraph had been unconscious. The sun appeared to have begun setting, allowing Seraph some measure of comfort to fend off the pain in his head.

"Ah, you're awake." Said Jack. "Thanks for whatever you did back there and everything, I'm fairly positive without your assistance the ability would have failed, and I know I would have died if you hadn't stepped in and taken the reigns off of me.  I think you took it as hard as I did though." 

Seraph gritted his teeth, trying to force the pain down as he turned towards the man, the effort causing the pain in his head to flair.  The small effort nearly enough to render him unconscious again. 

"Hey now, no need for any of that Seraph, don't strain yourself." Laughed Jack as he sat cross legged near Seraph's outstretched body. "I've been awake awhile now, watching over you I might add. You can take all the time you need to pull yourself together, I want you to remember this moment though Seraph so that you know were on the same team now. I could have killed you while you slept, I could maybe even still kill you now while you're incapacitated and struggling, but I didn't and I don't want to, and do you know why?"

Seraph looked at the man for signs of mania, deception, or some sort of madness and saw none of them.  Maybe he had misjudged Jack's character, if so, Seraph's measure of the man increased, as did a measure of grudging respect. . Seraph had no idea why Jack had left him alive if the man had been considering killing him. The consequences of their pact were currently inconsequential, and the longer they remained together, the harsher breaking the pact would be. "I don't know." Said Seraph curiously, "Why don't you tell me?" 

"Because you're the ticket man." Replied Jack, his face serious. "You know this place in a way no one else does. I thought about it when you were passed out, and I thought about some of the things you said. You have the Restart ability but said you didn't remember me. I don't think that you're a liar, which leaves me with one conclusion, being around you has changed my fate. I have to acknowledge that. The only conclusion is that  I'm alive somehow because of you, because this time you crossed my path and if that's the cause, and I think it is, tIt makes the most sense for me to stay close to you."

Seraph couldn't fault the man's logic. "Thanks?" Seraph said awkwardly, unused to the bluntness of others and the openness of selfish motivations other than his own. What Jack had said was likely true, it was something Seraph hadn't considered yet himself. But the implications were there. Seraph now knew that as the  timelines diverged things would become different quickly, and the things he had known would eventually no longer matter, except for maybe the most rudimentary facts.

"But is that it Jack?  You had an ephiany, and now you want to team up?" Seraph asked pointedly, already satisfied with the answer, but pressing to see if more was behind it. "What's different now?"

Jack's posture slumped, a dejected look on his face.  "I just want to live man. I don't want to die here and I think you can help keep me alive." He responded.

"I can use this." Thought Seraph with clarity, realizing his headache had passed. Soon, very soon, the World Dungeon would be out of its beta phase and would emerge from the bowels of the Earth. In those early days hundreds to thousands of people would flood its lower floors, and die in scores.

In his first life Seraph had been young, naive, impulsive, and volatile and had contributed to the unrest that had beset Hometown. This time things would be different, but Seraph realized he would need a mouthpiece to do many of those things and that was a part Seraph couldn't play himself if he intended to be an agent of change for the betterment of Hometown. 

"I don't disagree with your thinking on this Jack." Replied Seraph, as there was room in this for both of them to get what they wanted.  "But I'm going to need something from you. Something that's going to benefit both of us in the short and in the long-term. When I form the guild, I need you to take on the appearance of being it's leader.  It doesn't matter how old my mind is when I've got the body of a child, that's all anyone will see.

Jack nodded. "I can do that, I get it, you've got the Children of the Corn thing going on and nobody is going to be into that."

Seraph glared but didn't respond as he reached into his spacial pocket and placed the Pin of the Hometown Hero on Jack's chest before moving to change the subject.  "We need to get moving out of here though while time is still an advantage for us. I doubt we have much longer before the World Dungeon emerges and exposes itself to the public. We want to be first, because just as there were advantages to being first through the tutorial, there are advantages for being the first to form a guild."

"How would you know, how much we have left?" Asked Jack curiously.

"You ask." Responded Seraph.  "Notification request, what time is it, how long have I been in the dungeon and how much time remains until the Dungeon emerges?"



When the notification appeared before his eyes, Seraph read it outloud so that Jack could know the information for himself. 




Notification: Current time is 16:42 Dungeon Time. You have been in the Dungeon 75 Hours and 42 Minutes. Approximately 6 Earth hours have passed since you entered the Dungeon.  Dungeon will emerge in 76 Hours and 18 Minutes Dungeon Time at approximately 4:00 A.M. Earth Time.


"You know what that means right Jack?" Asked Seraph hoping the man could keep up with him.

Shaking his head, Jack admitted he had no idea.

"It means we've got three days in which to form the guild and cement ourselves as the leadership of humanity within the World Dungeon, three days to prove that we belong at the cornerstone of governance." Explained Seraph. "We need to get down into town if were going to do the guild unlock quest. Where's Rosebud."

"That's a pretty quick timeline, do you think we can really do it?" Responded Jack "And whose Rosebud?"

Seraph looked at Jack, and then around the room. "Rosebud is what I named the thing from the Nether that we summoned into the body of Alexander, and yes I think we can do it, we have to if we want to stay ahead and stay alive."

"Oh." Responded Jack flatly. "Alright, I'm trusting you, and yeah the creepy happy mask face guy, I had to send him outside to wait, I didn't like the way he kept looking at me, I instructed him to run back in here and let me know if anyone was coming."

"That was a good idea, you did well." Complimented Seraph. "Wording is important with these pets; you could have just as easily told him to guard the area instead of watching and informing you if anyone approached, if the former, Rosebud would have likely tried to kill anyone that came close."

Jack swallowed, noticeably paler. "I'll keep that in mind. These pets are very literally orientated aren't they?"

"No they're not." Responded Seraph, "But they do obey their nature, and the vicious ones tend to look for ways to main and kill.  Rosebud isn't a dog, it's some kind of Nether demon that we managed to conjure and enchant into the reanimated flesh of a player I killed, don't forget that."

As if responding to his name, Rosebud walked through the door without being noticed, as if materializing from the shadows.  The pet turned to Seraph and nodded "Cousin" before acknowledging Jack and reporting. "Master, I have done as you have instructed, there is currently an elf woman approaching." The white mask turned into a hideous upturned smile, the eye slits narrowing.  "Would you lay me to waylay her?

Seraph interrupted. "You don't.  Most of the elves could destroy Rosebud, and then after they would have all the excuse needed to track us down and kill us while there's still a level gap. This elf women will be here soon, then we will figure out what to do next."




"Yes Master." Responded Rosebud, a hint of disappointment in its voice.

The Apocalypse Has Arrived

Hey guys, so I have some stuff to talk about with y'all. 

Don't worry, I'm still writing. In fact, I'm 85% done with Volume 3 right now. 

However, I'm sure some of you are wondering why I haven't put up any chapters here (though Patron is actively updated and each full Volume is still sold on Amazon after extensive editing (My Amazon author name is L M Kerr)). 

And that's a discussion I do need to share, so let's jump into it. 

I have yet to make any final decision on this topic. 

Over time, I've noticed something rather disheartening that's happened on the main site where I sell my finished, edited, and restructured novels. 

I've been receiving negative or critical reviews on Amazon, Goodreads, etc. for things that do not exist in the Amazon version of the book.

Instead, those reviews are referring to things present only on the WebNovel versions. 

What I post here on WebNovel is my rough draft, lightly edited. 

What I post on Amazon is heavily edited and more polished. The story plots are the same, but I go over the story several times and edit before I put it up on Amazon. 

Now, some of you may be thinking: Wiz, why does that matter? Don't you take the WebNovel versions down, anyway, once you are done?

That is correct, I don't think any of you, my WN readers, are the ones leaving unrepresentative reviews on Amazon. 

However, there is a second, bigger issue that frustrates me...

Piracy. 

My books are pirated when I post them here. 

There are dozens of piracy sites out that that strip my chapters from WebNovel and host them online. 

When I post something here, it stays up online, forever.

Considering the plan was Marcy's idea in the novel, her pessimism surprised me. I wasn't sure what to tell her. 

Franz wouldn't want gossip to get out but Marcy had worked with him on this originally...what was I supposed to do? In my plans to get the plot back on track I had mentally separated defeating Sigmund and getting Marcy and Al together. 

I thought that as long as both of those things happened in the end it would all be okay somehow. 

In this version of the story, the one where I existed, Marcy was friendly with Al and me but she did not know any of the other royalty. 

I trusted Marcy because she was supposed to be the main character but Franz didn't. 

Then there was her reaction to contend with…Marcy seemed afraid of something. It hit me. 

All of their political meetings happened in the safety of Franz's office, not the bustle of the kitchen. 

If somehow word got back to Sigmund from one of the kitchen staff everything would be completely ruined. He would nip it in the bud with no one the wiser. 

My blood ran cold. I nearly made a fatal mistake. 

"Please keep it to yourself. I just wanted to know if it was readable."

Marcy's eyes darted around and she leaned in closer. 

"It's readable. Take it and go. But first pretend like you're asking me about something completely different and take some sweets to go so no one suspects you. The two of you have visited enough times that it shouldn't be suspicious."

I wanted to know how someone who was supposedly a simple pastry chef understood the nuances of the palace spy network better than I did but I couldn't ask. 

I would have to investigate this more later. Marcy Grandin just became a lot more interesting. 

"So do you think you could make a dessert like that?" I asked brightly, making sure I was loud enough for passing kitchen workers to hear. 

If they thought I was showing her a reference for a dessert I wanted, it would seem perfectly normal. 

"Yes, the blueberries would be a nice touch," she improvised. "I'll get on that right away, Your Highness. In the meantime, please take these gingerbread squares."

Marcy handed me a plateful and ushered us out of the kitchen with a strained smile on her face. 

I folded my draft several times before clenching it in my fist. I needed to be much more careful. 

Al and I spent so much time alone that I nearly forgot other people might be working for Sigmund in this palace. How stupid was I?!

"That was certainly exciting," Al said dryly as we returned to the library. "Mind telling me exactly what happened back there?"

I triple checked every corner to make sure we were alone before slumping onto a chair in exhaustion. 

"I was careless. I shouldn't have involved someone else, let alone in such a public place."

He swallowed his bite of raspberry tart before looking at me questioningly. "Why does this matter to you so much?"

"Why doesn't it matter to you?" I countered. 

As much as I sympathized with the commoners in this feudalistic society, my primary concern was getting the plot back on track. 

Catherine du Pont wouldn't care about either of those things so I didn't have a good explanation for my obsession. 

"Nothing matters to me but our escape to Shibatsu to live a normal life," he said nonchalantly. "You know this already."

I did know that already and it infuriated me to no end. The world had long turned its back on Al so he turned his back on the world. 

His mentality wouldn't bother me so much if it didn't personally cause so much trouble trying to put this shambles of a novel back together. Mariela's words came back to me—why bother?

Why did I care so much? Did I think some great cosmic accident would happen if I didn't put things back the way I found them? 

What exactly would happen if I couldn't fix the plot of this book? 

I started reading From Pastry Chef to Princess out of boredom at a doctor's office one day. 

It was a largely unknown YA novel with a barcode from the public library that I assumed some patient left behind on a table and didn't come back for. 

They ran multiple tests/scans on me so I was there for over three hours and got about halfway through it. I finished it at home and brought it back to the library on that stranger's behalf the next day so they wouldn't have to pay a fine for losing a book.  

Back then I thought of it as nothing more than a cute, cliché love story with a dash of political intrigue but relatively 2-D characters by a no-name author. I gave it 3 stars on Goodreads. 

What a horrible joke the universe had played on me by sending me into such an insignificant novel. 

If I had to end up in a strange book world, why hadn't it been Hogwarts?! 

I would much rather be one of the many barely-named witches in the background that got to enjoy learning magic without being a central part of the story than end up a princess right in the middle of things. 

That was off-topic—my point was, why was I trying so hard to right the wrongs I had created? Why couldn't I simply go with the flow? 

Was whatever mystical force that sent me here impressing the importance of plot progression into my mind or something? What would happen if I stopped caring, like Al?

Part of me realized that the only thing really stopping me from doing whatever I wanted and letting things happen was that I didn't want to be here. 

Helping Franz ascend the throne would ease my conscience because I already knew Sigmund was a villain. 

Putting Marcy and Al together would make me feel less guilty for ditching him and going off to find a job and life of my own in Shibatsu. 

Going with the flow…if I did that, I would be stuck here playing cards and finding other ways to entertain Al for the rest of my life when I wasn't stuck socializing with snooty nobles I didn't want to talk to. 

What would happen to Marcy? I had stolen her true love! It was an accident but that didn't change the facts. I had to give him back to her. 

My suspicions of Al's crush on me grew stronger all the time. If I stayed in the palace for the rest of my life with him as my primary company, I might grow used to his affections. 

I mean, the number of books and movies that involved arranged marriages out there…the couple almost always fell in love in the end. That was the last thing I wanted. 

As a modern, independent woman, I did not want to spend my life cooped up in a castle drinking tea and producing princelings. If I ever wanted to build a real life here, I had to leave Al behind. 

The thought made my chest grow tight. I would probably even miss him from time to time. We had spent a lot of time having fun together. That sort of thing isn't easily forgotten. 

He was the most normal person I had met in this world; who knows if I would find another with his sense of humor to be friends with in Shibatsu. 

"Katie?"

I snapped out of it. Al was looking at me with concern because I hadn't said anything in a while. 

Between his slightly tilted head of mussed hair and my black sweater he looked even more like a normal twenty-one-year old college student. My heart skipped a beat. 

"I was just thinking how it would be nice not to care."

Apollo hasn't read the book because he wasn't into reading. He felt that he hasn't been a good son; he depended on her mom too much, but her mom was never able to depend on him. How sad and embarrassing. He thought. And I referred to myself as a man? I should make it up to her. I have never felt so guilty in my life and now that she's in danger, I won't forgive myself if something bad happens to her. Please be okay, mom. Give me a chance to make it up to you. I'll be a man. 

 Betha's transformation didn't freak Apollo as much as it did the first time, but he cringed. Gab's reaction was more of amazement rather than the tiny bit of disgust Apollo was feeling towards the sight of an old wrinkly witch-looking woman. Bethany was standing in between the two guys. The process was the same; fluttering sound, heavy wind, long black hair evolved to silver, from such beautiful face to…would I ever be able to live with this? Apollo thought. Bethany wailed and interrupted his thoughts. He and Gab had to cover their ears and when it was over, Apollo felt a heavy weight in his heart like he was going to die of tension. He didn't want any harm to happen to his mom. Betha's shrieking was like an early warning for Luke who was saved from a heart attack. Maybe this is the same. Maybe it's not a curse. It's probably a gift. It's a warning of near death but it doesn't have to happen. More than the hope that Apollo was feeling, there was fear. 

 Betha was back to her human form but instead of being relieved, she was in distress. She turned to Gab and asked, "This is my neighborhood and that over there is my house." She pointed at the direction of her place. 

"Betha, we haven't told you this, but this is actually Apollo's house. He's your neighbor. And he lives with his mom." He explained in a sad tone. 

Betha covered her mouth in disbelief. She looked at Apollo with sympathy and her eyes looked like she was asking for forgiveness. Apollo's body felt numb and was sure to die if something happened to his mom. He wouldn't know how to deal with it. 

He opened the door. "Mom!" It almost made him crazy just to call for his mom. Please be alright. Please be alright. "Mom, where are you?" Mrs. Rodriguez wasn't in the kitchen or anywhere downstairs and her room was also empty. "Mom!" 

"Apollo? I'm here, dear!" Apollo was in his mom's room checking the bathroom when he heard her voice. His heartbeat quadrupled but he's never been so happy to hear his mom's voice. 

"Mom!" Apollo hugged Mrs. Rodriguez upon seeing her resting on his bean bag. He forced his tears back. 

"Oh dear. What's the matter? Did something happen?" 

"I saw a lot of missed calls, mom. I thought there was an emergency or something. I thought something bad happened to you."

"Well we do have an emergency." Her eyes shifted to a dog. Apollo hadn't notice her petting a dog that was lying right beside his bean bag. 

"Whose dog is this?"

"I have no idea. He was so weak, lying by our doorsteps. I let him in and called almost everyone from our neighborhood, but he was nobody's dog. Then the next thing I know, he managed to come up here in your room and he was too heavy for me to lift which is why I have been calling you. We need to take him to the vet."

The dog was huge. It was the biggest that Apollo had ever seen. He then realized that Gab and Betha were downstairs, not having any idea about what's happening. "Mom, I'm with Gab and another friend. They're downstairs. I'll call them up to help us with the dog."

He rushed downstairs and sat, breathing heavily on the cerulean timber fiber sofa. "Betha, I think it wasn't my mom you were wailing for. It was a dog." She and Gab were situated quietly, fronting each other, both looking comfortable on the briar chairs with the same color as the sofa. The expression on their faces showed relief.

"Oh yeah. That's why the feeling was a bit different this time." She answered. "Now that you have confirmed another living presence in the house aside from your mom, I'm positive that your mom isn't the one who's life is in danger. I'm sorry I forgot to tell you both that my Banshee ability can sense any living thing inside the house approximately 5 kilometers away."

"I'm glad that's the case, Betha. But I do want to make sure the dog is safe." Apollo responded.

"Since when did you have a dog?" Gab asked, confused.

"I'll explain later."

"Should we go upstairs now to help Andrea with the dog? She must've been so worried about it." Gab commented, as if he's the man of the house.

Apollo rolled his eyes. "Andrea?"

"Sorry. I meant your mom." He tilted his head and awkwardly brushed his hair with his hands. Betha didn't quite get why he would call Apollo's mom by her first name, but she looked amused over it.

The three reached upstairs and as Apollo had expected, his mom's face over seeing a girl's presence inside his room was embarrassing. "Mom, this is Betha. She's our neighbor."

 "So, this is why it was hard to reach my son." She said. 

Oh no, mom. Don't smile like that. She isn't my girlfriend. Yet.

"I'm sorry. Mrs… Uhm. Apollo's mom." Bethany said politely.

"Just call me Andrea. Or mom. If you must." Her facial expression had a motive hidden on it. She gave Betha a hug. 

Whatever happened to shaking hands when you meet  someone for the first time? Apollo thought.

 "It is Andrea Rodriguez. I'm glad to finally see you." 

Did she just say finally? Mom! His mom's reaction was making Apollo feel too uneasy but all he could do was talk inside his head.

"Okay, you both. That's really sweet but the dog needs to be saved." Apollo interrupted the moment. When he tried to lift the dog, it was impossible to carry it, so he signaled for Gab's attention. As usual, he was acting all cute in front of his mom, smiling like a puppy. "Uhm. Gab? A little help please."

 When Gab and Apollo started to lift the dog, they ended up short of breath. "Wow, this dog is really too heavy." Gab commented, embarrassed that he wasn't too strong as he wanted to be in front of Mrs. Rodriguez.

 "It's an English mastiff. The heaviest dog in the world." Betha's enlightenment was enough to leave the dog as it is. 

 "Okay, I don't think we can call the vet at this hour but I'm sure there's another way without carrying him." Apollo said.

 Betha moved closer and signaled for the two guys to give her space. After a few seconds of gently stroking the dog's head to the back of his neck, he slowly got up. The rest of them just watched with huge admiration when she led the dog to the garage. There was a sound of the door unlocking as  Mrs. Rodriguez pointed her car's remote and the dog followed Betha's voice when she said, "Hop in, sweet doggy." Something about the way she said that made Apollo's heart stop. 

 They reached the vet in no time and Apollo took the chance to have a quick talk with his mom as Betha and Gab went with the dog for the check-up. Mrs. Rodriguez easily followed her son at the far end corner of the lobby area, and they sat next to each other. "Mom, I know this is cheesy. And I know I haven't been such a good son lately…"

 "What? You're a perfect son, dear." She interrupted.

 "How could you say that, mom? I'm a twenty-one-year-old dude with no job and you've never relied on me. I was always the one dependent on you and I should be the man of the house. I should get a job. You write all day, mom on top of the household chores and I'm just a spoiled bratt who couldn't even make you breakfast."

 She looked at her son with compassion. "What are you saying? You designed all my book covers and the very first one made it to the top. Books are like people. You know how when you like someone you always start by looking at the physical aspects? It's the same with books. It's always the book cover that entices the prospective readers first. Your book designs are way too awesome, dear. It's what attracts the readers. You are my perfect son. You even bought me pain relievers and I didn't even ask you to do that."

 Apollo felt quite guilty because the pain relievers weren't his idea but at least her mom appreciated it. "Mom, I want to do better. I like that you see my worth but for me, I want to be a better son by being more responsible."

 "Oh my. You've grown. Is it because of that beautiful girl?" She teased.

 "Mom!"

 Gab and Betha appeared from inside the clinic room just in time with a call that Mrs. Rodriguez received from the dog's owner. "According to Mr. Damon, his name is Sweet Doggy."

 What other abilities does this beautiful woman have aside from being a Banshee? I was looking for adventure and now I think I've found something more interesting than that. She's going to be Mrs. Rodriguez someday, but first, she will be my girlfriend. Apollo's mind was suddenly surrounded with colors and his eyes twinkled like Romeo.
