It was four in the afternoon and Love Marie had been sick in her gut throughout the day thinking about what Jay Song wanted to talk to her about last night. Holding her phone in her hand, she reread all those several sent messages that she had spent hours writing to him on WeChat, trying to dispel the panic and distress that shrouded her heart.

Late last night, when Jay Song had called her after being M.I.A for a couple of days, Love Marie seemed distracted as she was completing the individual in-game tasks to collect more free heart currency so she could buy new couples merchandise on Heart2Heart for them to show-off to other in-game couples. 

Since Jay Song had not been logging in the game for the past week due to his busy schedule, Love Marie did not want to fall behind in the game hoping they could level up sooner. However, in the process of doing so, she had missed the restlessness in Jay Song's tone when he had wanted to tell her something when they last spoke. When she asked him halfheartedly, "what was it?", Jay Song had realised that she was distracted and had promptly ended the conversation wishing her a good nights sleep while reminding her to go to bed before it was already dawn.

It was not until the morning-after that Love Marie realised that something was indeed wrong with their conversation last night. 

Replaying the conversation again and again in her head, Love Marie mumbled to herself, "What was it? He seemed strange last night.... or maybe its just me... Wait, did he say I love You..? I guess thats what it is, he didn't say I love you. He usually does, doesn't he.. why no love you? Did something happen? No I love you... Wait, and he wanted to talk about something... hmm, what could be 'that' something?" Love Marie rubbed her chin curiously trying to add up her thoughts to his unusual behaviour. After a few brief moments of silence, the room was filled with a piercing scream.

"Ahhh... does he want to breakup!?" Oh lord, please no breakup! 

Panic-stricken, Love Marie ran out of her bed and looked around for her mobile. Getting hold of it, she switched on the screen and saw the time. 'Crap, its only Eleven a.m, he won't be up for another Five to Six hours 'cause of the thirteen hour time difference between country A and country C. What should I do?' Love Marie thought to herself. 'Maybe I can text him! See if he might just be up or read my messages and call me right away.' 

And so began Love Marie's endless stream of distraught messages on WeChat to her beloved.

"Baby, about last night, what did you want to talk about?"

"Honey, I know I was distracted last night, was it something urgent?"

"Haha, You know I got us new Heart2Heart Summer Special Edition couple matching outfits yesterday. Now, we can show it off to that good-for-nothing Jing couple, strut our cute stuff and complete tasks."

"Baby.... umm..why didn't you say I love you to me yesterday? Not that I mind. But... is there something you want to tell me?"

"Not that I'm worrying. But you sounded different last night. Is there something we need to talk about?"

For the past 2 years, Love Marie John had religiously logged onto the new-on-the-scene online game, Heart2Heart, for the sake of maintaining a healthy relationship with her beloved long-distance boyfriend Jay Song. 
Devoting hours and hours on the game everyday, Love Marie had hoped to successfully complete each task together with her beloved to never have them feel the distance that grew over time.
However, as fate would have it, an online game couldn't save her relationship from falling apart.
Dejected and heartbroken, Love Marie abused the game wholeheartedly and decided to terminate her Heart2Heart account. But, was it so easy to keep the game away from invading her pitiful life. Surely, the game had other plans.... More magnificent, more complex, more tremulous...

One night, pressing the deactivate account button for the hundredth time, the in-game screen read again, "Are you sure you would like to deactivate your account- Press Yes or No?"
"what the hell, ofcourse... Yes!!!", snarled Love Marie.
"Please state the Reason for deactivating your account."
"Cause this game is effing pathetic.... bloody good life... it couldn't even spare me my relationship.. bloody took all my money too.."
Then the system read, "Sorry for the incovenience. Please try again later."
"Huh....!" *blank expression*
"What the hell... get me out of here."

"On the way back, I met that bitch, An Xiaoning, again." Bu Xianxian asked, "Mother, do you know how arrogant her tone was?" 
"Alright, can't you just pretend you didn't hear her? Don't create so much trouble. Didn't you go out to find a job? How was it?" 
"I've asked a few companies already. Their salaries are too little, I can't do those jobs. They only pay two to three thousand dollars a month, what can you do with that money?" Bu Xianxian took a deep breath. "Mother, in the past, we lived in a place like N Nation with such poor conditions and we didn't have a chance to see the world. But now, look. After seeing the kind of life the rich are living, do you still want to live the kind of life we used to live? I don't. That's why, Mother, I can't listen to you and do those low-paying jobs. It is in man's nature to strive for something better. My husband has to be someone handsome and rich." 
"But you ought to find one who is good to you." 
"It's fine if he isn't good to me. Of course, it would be better if he is. If he isn't, as long as he gives me money, that will do." She appeared unbothered. "Nowadays, amongst rich men, where can you find one who is devoted and loyal to a single woman?"

"Xianxian…" Mrs. Bu advised earnestly, "You should stop wasting your effort on him. I heard from our colleagues before that they were married twice and even have a child together. Their relationship is not just a two-to-three-month fling, don't you understand that? Nick is rich and handsome, but he doesn't belong to you. Don't force what you can't have. Listen to Mother, find another man. There are other rich and handsome people in this world, right?" 
Bu Xianxian muttered in frustration, "Alright, alright. I'm going back to my room." 
Mrs. Bu shouted to the back of her figure that was moving further away, "Stop gaming already." 
"If I don't game, I'll die of boredom," she replied before closing her door shut. 
Taking off her high heels, she immediately turned on her computer. 
Ever since she returned from the plastic surgery hospital, she had gotten addicted to gaming. 
In the game, she could achieve a sense of superiority. For instance, when she got married inside the game, her virtual husband gifted her with various things and conveyed sweet-nothings to her. 
Behind the computer screen, she was unaware of who the other party was either. But since the other party remained unaware of her identity as well, she enjoyed the love she received in this virtual world, which allowed her to receive some level of satisfaction. 
She entered her game out of habit, and a few notifications from the user Mr. Baiyu popped up the moment she went online. 
The user was her virtual husband.

After checking the gift section of the game, she found over ten sets of game equipment.

Seeing that she did not reply, Mr. Baiyu sent her another message: "Honey, are you still there?" 
"I just went to the toilet." 
"Where do you live? I'll go and pick you up, okay? I'll give you a surprise, so you can see what I genuinely feel." 
"I still think we shouldn't meet. Isn't it good to just be husband and wife in the virtual world?" 
He sent her another reply very soon: "Are you afraid that I'm a crook? I've never shown you a photo of me before. How about this, I'll send you a photo of myself now. If you think I look like a crook, then don't meet me. Will that do? Give me your social media account, I'll send you a photo now." 
Bu Xianxian felt that it was a fine idea, so she registered a new account and gave it to him. Very soon, they added each other as friends.

After arranging a time and a venue to meet, Bu Xianxian changed into a dress and touched up her makeup before going to meet him. 
It was the first time she was meeting an online friend.

"I said I would come, of course I would." He looked at the huge pair of sunglasses on her face. "Can you take off your sunglasses?" 
Bu Xianxian raised her hand to remove her sunglasses, and the grin on Shi Shaochuan's face immediately turned into a stiff smile. "You… why do you look so much like An Xiaoning?" 
Her height, voice, and other aspects were different from An Xiaoning's. 
"You know An Xiaoning, too? Everyone says that I look like her, but I can't choose my looks. My parents gave birth to me like this." 
With this face before him, Shi Shaochuan was genuinely unable to be happy. 
"It's not that alike, actually. Your expressions are different from hers." 
"You know her personally?" Bu Xianxian asked. 
"I do." That was his ex-wife she was talking about, how could he not know her? 
"I know her too. It's just that, our relationship is bad. It's mainly because she…" She stopped mid-way in her sentence and did not go on. After all, she did not know what relationship the man before her had with An Xiaoning. If they were close, any inappropriate thing she said might end up reaching An Xiaoning's ears.

Kary woke up this morning feeling great. She felt like her body was fit as a fiddle. She hadn't been this energized for years. She jumped in the shower to wash-up before her mother-daughter day. She felt the water was cold in the shower and had to completely close the cold water before feeling cozy.
'' Guess the water heater broke again '' She said, shrugging it off.

Once her shower finished she got dressed and went downstairs to get breakfast. Her mother was still at the table, watching the news.
'' Good morning mom '' Kary gleefully said.
'' Good morning to you too sweetie. How was your game yesterday? '' Her mother asked.
'' It was super fun. I'm sorry for playing so long, I couldn't leave right away, I was stuck in a quest '' she answered with a big smile. She then kissed her mother on the cheek and sat down to eat a bowl of cereals.
'' Well you seem chipper this morning. Did you get good news that you aren't telling me? ''
'' No mom, I just feel really good this morning '' Kary smiled
'' Well if your game makes you this happy, I don't mind you playing as much. Maybe I should even start playing myself '' her mother said, half-jokingly. '' I might even have to pull my old equipment back out from the storage unit Haha '' she added whilst laughing.
'' Do you mean that old platform with cables and a VR headset? '' Kary asked incredulously.
'' Yes I mean that. It was very high-end technology back when I was your age honey '' her mother said with a smile.
'' Nevermind mom. If you really want to play this game, you'll need a pod. I doubt that old junk is compatible with it at all. Plus you'll have to learn from scratch. Even if the controls are very body like, there is still some adaptation period ''
'' I get it, you don't want you old mom to play with you. I respect that honey ''
" You know what mom, forget everything I said. Let's go shopping for a pod and buy you the game. When you have time you could enter it and contact me so we can play together " Kary said, smiling ear to ear.
" I like the sound of that " answered her mother with a tinge of pure happiness in her eyes.

Looking back at the screen in the kitchen, Kary's mother looked a little worried. When Kary turned her head to the screen, the news banner said that her neighborhood's archon reactor had let out a warning today but the managers of the plant said that everything was under control.
'' I hope nothing happens '' Her mother said, slightly worried.
'' Don't worry mom, they said everything was fine. They wouldn't lie if lives were in danger, would they? ''
'' You're probably right honey. I'm worried for nothing '' She answered, going back to a smile.

They both continued eating breakfast whilst talking about their shopping intentions. After eating, they washed their plates and left for the mall. Taking a hover cab, they got there safe and sound in less than 10 minutes.

Their day was started off with a bit off wandering in the clothes shops and then they went to eat at noon. Their plan was to finish eating, go to the game store, buy a gaming pod and a copy of 'Sword of Fantasy' before going back home to set her mother up. After choosing her pod model, they took the express shipping with installation option and paid. That way, by the time they got home, everything would have been installed by bots. Since the pods were government-issued, they were rarely installed by humans, as to make sure no fiddling was done in the pod settings.

On their way out of the mall, they stopped at an ice cream shop and got 2 cones for their trip back home. They got back into a hover cab and flew back home. Once they were back, they went to check on the pod installation. Everything looked perfect. Kary went up to the pod and opened up the settings window. She linked her pod ID as chaperon pod. She explained to her mother that it was to help her start-up since she wasn't used to the new interface. Her mother simply smiled. She then sat in the pod as per instructions, to get scanned and neuro-linked to it. That would keep anyone else from going into the pod settings and mess it up. Anyone who didn't match her brain waves would be denied access, except for the chaperon ID's brain waves. 

Kary inserted the game, told her mother to wait for her, then she closed the pod, checked to make sure it sealed and booted the game. She then ran to her own room, jumped into her pod and launched the game too. When she appeared in the game, instead of appearing in the empty field she disconnected from, she appeared in the character screen from her mother's interface. She could see her mother choose her class and name but couldn't interfere.

Then they both turned into white light and reappeared on a beach near the ocean.
'' Huh, why did I get an empty field, and you get a beach near the ocean '' Kary curiously asked her mom.
'' This is a memory, honey '' her mother answered. Kary could see tears welling up in her eyes.
'' Are you okay mom? '' she asked.
'' Yes honey. Don't worry about it '' her mother answered, wiping away her tears. '' This is where I met your father '' She added solemnly.

Kary didn't answer. She didn't know what to say. She had barely known her father. He had died in an accident when she was very young. She could no longer even remember what he looked like. Her mother had removed all the pictures of him, as she couldn't bear the pain of seeing him.
'' The system asked me if I wanted to take you on my beginner trial mission. Should I say yes? '' her mother then asked.
'' It's up to you, do you think you can do it alone? '' Kary responded, a smile forming on the corner of her lips.
'' I'm not that much of an amateur Kary '' said her mother, a bit flustered.
" I know mine was hard, but I read on the forums that each quest was different. I could just accompany you to make sure you don't die ''
'' Okay. That's a good idea '' Her mom said confidently.

They then both teleported again. As she was expecting, Kary and her mother didn't end up in a burning village. Instead, they were in a forest. The sun was shining through the branches and the birds were flying about. Kary could see the mission progress bar in her own interface. What she read on it ticked her off.
'' What kind of easy quest is this. Hunt and kill 3 wolves? Did you just get handed a starter quest for kids by the game? What a scam! '' Kary exclaimed. 
She then turned to her mother and saw what class she had taken. She was stunned. Her mother was standing there in small chain mail, a broad ax in her hand. She had missed her class pick because her mother hovered all of them before picking one so fast, Kary's eyes couldn't even follow her hand.
'' You picked the berserker class? What are you, a warmonger? " She asked, with a tone of craziness.
'' What? '' her mother answered. " I used to love going all-in in fighting games before you were born. Nothing feels better than to win from the verge of death '' She added, a huge smile hanging on her face.

Not knowing what to say, Kary simply decided to focus on the quest. She and her mother both started tracking the wolves in the forest. As soon as they found one, they ended in a sticky situation. Kary had to intervene pretty quickly, as her mother was swinging her ax around so carelessly that the wolf could easily dance around her. It would have been a quick death for her mother, had Kary not jumped in when she did.

After that incident, her mother started getting used to the controls. They found the tracks for another wolf. This time her mother promised herself to handle it alone. When they finally found the wolf, Kary's mother played it a lot more carefully. Each time she swung her big ax, she would get closer and closer to hitting her target. 

Kary smiled. She never would have thought her mom would catch on so quickly. Even though the controls were really player friendly, one still needed time to get used to them. Especially her mother, who hadn't played a game in years. But everything was going fine.

When her mother felt she had gotten good enough to fell the beast, she bore an evil smile. She dashed out to the wolf, not letting him time to react, swung her ax upwards, nearly beheading the poor creature. Had it not jumped back in time, it would have lost it precious head. Unfortunately for it, that's exactly what the woman had wanted. With the momentum of the dash and upward swing, all she had to do was shift her body a little bit to change the angle of the ax to a side swing, which she spun a whole turn, before chopping the wolf in the belly, instantly cutting him in half.

* CLAP CLAP CLAP *

Kary was impressed. She had never thought her mother to be such an ingenious and vicious fighter. She kinda liked that new side of her.
" Well done mom. I think you no longer need my help. Want me to go back and let you finish this quest alone? " she asked with a big smile.
" No, you can stay sweetie. I like having you around. It makes me feel safe. That way I know I can go all out and be reckless '' her mother said while smiling back with a playful expression.
" Haha, okay. I don't mind being your support " Kary said with a laugh.

At the same time, in the real world. Archon reactor plant.

" Sir! The energy levels are reaching a critical point. We need to warn the citizens for immediate evacuation "
" No! I refuse to give up now. I know in my gut there is a way to fix this "
" Sir!! "
" No Sirs. Get back to work and find me a way to keep this reactor from blowing up. Should I remind you that all our families live in this city? "
" Yes Sir! " the man grumbled. He sat back down at his console and scoured every possible solution in the hope that one would work.

A little while after, back in the game.

As Kary was helping her mother track the last wolf, they both got an alert in their interfaces. It was the pod signaling an abnormal energy fluctuation. They both thought that maybe the power had gone down in their house. It didn't really matter, as the pods themselves were equipped with mini archon reactors as emergency power cells. They closed the alert window and kept walking. Only a few seconds after, another alert popped up. This time, the pod detected a dangerously high energy pulse. It recommended to log out and seek shelter or brace for a possibly prolonged gaming session, as the cabin would go into lockdown. But only Kary had 2 options. Her mothers alert said to quickly log out and seek shelter as the cabin's lockdown function had been affected by the energy pulse.
" Maybe we should logout " Kary nervously said to her mother.
" No honey. I'm sure we'll be fine. We'll just be forced to play longer that's all. let's enjoy it while it lasts "her mother said joyfully.
" Are you sure mom? " Kary asked. She had a bad feeling about this.
" Yes yes. Come on, we still have a wolf to kill. Let's not waste time " her mother replied, smiling gleefully.

Kary had a bad feeling about this, but her mother said it was fine so she trusted her. Only, her mother had already understood the situation. When she got the first alert, she instantly remembered the morning news. She knew what had happened. When she saw the second alert, she understood that the archon reactor had blown up. When she realized that she couldn't reach shelter, even if she logged out now, and that her cabin was not going to lockdown, she knew she had to keep her daughter thinking everything was fine. So she acted fine and chipper.

A few seconds later, while they were bent down, tracking their prey, Kary's mom got another alert. It said that a heatwave had been detected in the vicinity and to brace for impact. It gave a countdown of 15 seconds. Kary didn't get that one since her pod had already initiated lockdown mode, and had estimated the survival of its occupant at 95%. Looking at the countdown reach 10 seconds, her mother got up and hugged her. She softly said in her ear " I love you. Be safe "
" I love you too mom, but why so suddenly say that " asked Kary, pushing her mother away.

Her mother was simply looking at her, tears rolling off of her face. She then turned to light and disappeared.
" Mom? Mom!? " Kary panicked.

She was automatically thrown out of the quest since it wasn't hers. She quickly checked her friends' list and saw her mother as disconnected. Only, she couldn't log off herself. When she tried, her pod sent her a message explaining the lockdown measures implemented and their reasons. As she read the message, Kary turned white as blood drained from her face. She dropped to her knees, understanding what her mother said and what had happened.

She cried. Just in a matter of minutes, she had become an orphan.

Kary always loved playing video games. Who would have thought that one day, they would save her life and change her future. Follow this harcore gamer girl who embarks on a wonderful journey to the worlds strongest person.

Honey's (P.O.V)

My palms got sweaty and my stomach felt butterflies flapping. "you're still awake?" his message read. Why did I feel this way towards this kid? He was just an annoying fourteen-year-old, yet he had this effect on me. I pushed that thought aside and responded to his message. "how did you find me?" I replied. He was a fast typer because within a second he replied. "Honey isn't a common name it wasn't that hard to find you ;)" he sent a winking emoji. Without giving me a second to reply he sent another message. "it's a nice name it suits you." He complimented. Making me blush and started smiling. "thanks" was all I could say. He was being sweet it made me feel gitty inside. Maybe he wasn't so bad after all. "so, what did you do to get arrested?" he asked. I was confused, what did he mean by that. What's that supposed to mean?" I asked. "your profile picture looks like a mugshot lol." He said making my smile drop. And just when I thought he was being nice. I was night the first time about him he was nothing but a jerk. "you can't give a compliment without insulting me can you?" I asked. Frowning. 
"I can't help it I'm an asshole." He said, and I could imagine the smirk he would have on his face saying those words.  "That picture was a long time ago ok what ever I'm going to sleep." I said almost pounding on the keyboard. "good night bitter Honey sweet dreams ;)" he sent. I slammed my laptop shut, he always found ways to piss me off. I woke for school early, got dressed and met Demi in front of the bus stop. It was in between my house and hers. We would meet there because she's too lazy to walk all the way to my house and I was too lazy to walk to hers, so we met half way. Demi was chubby but pretty she had blond hair that she had died black and light green eyes. "so, what happened last night?" she asked curiously. "where should I start… I found my Mr. Right totally dreamy." I Giggled and blushed. "who is it?" she asked with a smirk. "I don't know his name. when I lost Pooch last night he found him." "well go back to where you lost pooch and see if he's still there." she suggested "why do that when I know what school he attends." I gave a wicked smile. "Oh no don't tell me you stalked him." she said sarcastically. "Of course not, he had a badge on that read 'T.K.E university'." "hey that's where Amy goes, so he's older?" she asked shocked. "Yes, he is. and I know we are going to get married." I sighed and giggled. "You don't even know this man and you think your going to marry him? … your living in lala land..come back to reality Honey." She knocked on my head "But my night was ruined by the devil himself." My dream man shattered once Adams face came to mind. "Who's that?" she asked. "My soon to be stepbrother." I cried. "He can't be that bad." She smiled. "yes, he is, he's fourteen and perverted. He touched me not once but twice, if he wasn't so strong I would have killed him…he picked me up and carried me home what kid can do that?. He may be young, but he looks like he's sixteen." I frowned at the very thought of him touching me. "Again, he's a fourteen-year-old adolescent boy. They are at the stage where every girl is a piece of meat…and look how small you are any kid seems strong compared to you." She laughed. "I knew you would make this into a joke…why do I bother." I walked faster. "Ok, ok im sorry." she said still laughing.

We arrived at school. We walked over to our locker and took our books out for class. Demi and I shared a locker it was easier than having my old locker which was on the other side of the school. This way we meet here and go about instead of searching for each other, this was much more convenient for the both of us. "Did you finish your homework?" she asked, "No I had no time because of my mom." I snarled. "Oh yea.. I forgot; well you can copy off me, I had Amy do it for me." Amy is Demi's older sister and super smart she always helped us with our homework and tutored us on the weekends. 
"You're my savior." I hugged her. "Good morning Demi." We turned around and saw Chad the Basketball star of our school. He has different scholarships coming from left and right he doesn't know what to do with. I used to have a crush on him I soon found out he likes Demi. So, I dropped that quickly. "Hey Chad, what's up."  Demi said paying him little to no mind, as she looked through her locker. "I was wondering if you don't have any plans after school…would you like to come to my game?…I would love to have some support." He was truly a cute guy his blonde hair blue, tall perfectly structured body, golden sunkissed skin complexion. "Can't sorry I already made plans with Honey." She lied. I looked at her with a confused look. Chad saw and soon caught on. Well that's too bad maybe next time I guess." He said with a sad look. "Yea maybe." She closed her locked and grinned at him. he smiled looked down and walked away. "Why do you have to be so mean to him. you do know he likes you right?" I said with a mad tone. "Get real Honey he's the most popular guy in school not to mention the hottest. What would he want with me.. I mean just look at me…im not exactly a size zero. He's just looking for someone to toy with don't fall for it." she started walking to class. I followed "I would like some support." she mocked Chads words and continued. " pshhh. …Please. This coming from a popular guy." she mumbled to herself. When will she ever realize Chads feelings are true and he's not just toying with her? I wish he liked me but that would never happen. 

First period was English literature. My worst subject everything about it was boring.  I sat through it taking notes. I looked over at Demi who was chatting away with Eric. He was a part of the year book club. He's a nerdy kind of cute, a Very proper and adorable guy. Demi was popular, almost the entire school was her friends. from jocks to cheerleaders, nerds, all the way down to the Goths. She knew how to talk to everyone. I envy that about her, I'm not very out spoken. I've only known Demi for two years, but we quickly became best friends. I walked out of class once first period was done it was time for gym. Finally, my favorite subject, I love running track was my favorite thing I thought I was the fastest person, but that dream was chattered last night by Adam who quickly caught me. Demi had math, so she went to class with Eric who she shared most classes with. I changed into my gym wear. Shorts and a t-shit, I walked out of the changing rooms and out to the track field. I saw Kendra my gym buddy its weird in gym we are like best buds but once class is over we never talk. I guess we both shared the love of track that's why. Coach had us warm up by doing simple stretches and suicides. After that was done coach pulled me to the side to have a talk. "What is it coach?" I asked "Honey you are my star athlete in track and field. But as you heard the volley ball team is lacking members. They haven't won a single game in over four years running." he said giving me that apologetic stare. "So, what's your point?" I asked knowing what will come next. "I want you to joint the girls volley ball team." He smiled.

"What!.. I can't do that I don't know how to even play volley ball coach." I whined. "it's not as hard as you think. Coach Burton Is the best teacher she will help you with everything…please Honey she asked for you directly." He looked at me. I sighed "Fine...ill do it." he smiled and clapped his hands together. "you're a real sport." He swiped his fist under my chin. I left the field and headed to the gymnasium. To meet my new team. I walked in. everyone was staring at me all the girls. "Hi ..I'm Honey" I said lowly. "come on in and have a seat we're just taking attendance. I sat next to a girl with short curly hair. She smiled at me "Hi im Jessica." She said so bubbly. "I'm honey" I smiled. "I know your Demi's friend right?" she asked. Of course, who doesn't know me as Demi's friend? "Yea I am." I said annoyed.

 "Alright ladies lets start with Warm ups" coach said.   "let's be partners." Jessica asked "sure" I said. We all picked up a volley ball and surfed to each other back and forth. Every ball I surfed went to the opposite direction I wanted the ball to go. And everyone Jessica surfed hit me on the face. I hate volley ball I suck at it. why did coach switch me? now my very purpose for coming to school is gone. "Is this the star athlete you were talking about coach? She can't even surf." Some girl said. She was right im not any good. Coach came up to me once she saw me getting frustrated. "Don't worry.. once you get the hang of it you will be able get it right." she said. But I didn't listen I just wanted this class to be over, so I can leave. Once class was over I walked out of the gym "Hey Honey." Jessica came running after me. What could this airhead want? "You did good on your first day.. Don't worry about the other girls they are just jealous coach picked you to be head of the team." She said, "what really?"  how could she do that I can't play well. How does she expect me to lead this team? "Yea she did ..well I'll see you around." she jogged off once she saw some guy hugged him and gave him a kiss. He must be her boyfriend lucky girl he's cute. I went to my locker to wait for Demi, so we could have lunch. She didn't show I waited over twenty minutes. I opened the locker to toss in my books when a note dropped at my feet. 'Hey Honey, I'm spending lunch with a few people sorry I couldn't get out of it...see you later...sorry Betsy.'  I rolled my eyes. she always does these ditches me for other people. This is what I get for befriending a popular person. Lonely again, Demi is my best friend, but she does also have other friends. Me on the other hand, is a loner, My life sucks. I walked out of the school and walked over to a MacDonald to eat. I stood in the line up lunch times are usually busy but surprisingly today wasn't so bad. I ordered and sat at a table. My mouth watered at my big mac burger sitting on the tray I was so hungry I picked it up with two hands ready to welcome that delicious taste in my mouth. Just as I was about to take a bite I looked up and chocked on my own drool at the sight dropping my burger back down. I saw the devil once again Adam Hays walk in with his friends. His much older friends, his very good-looking friends.

Just when I thought this day couldn't get worse......

Honey's mother is getting remarried to a man named Andrew who has an extremly good looking son named Adam. Back at home, we announce, "We're home," as we enter the house and Mama replies, "Welcome home," from the living room.

Heading into the living room, I give Mama a hug and kiss. 

"How was work?"

"Everything went fine. Seems like the party planner really knows her business, so there shouldn't be any problems."

"Great. Your father told me we're going as well. Sounds like it might be fun."

"I'm hoping so, but for me, it's more about allowing my employees to get to know me a little better… Speaking of fun. How would everyone feel about a spa day tomorrow? It's been a little while since we had one and I'd like to get a mani-pedi as well."

Mama smiles and tells me, "You had me at spa day. My back and legs stay sore all the time now."

Honoka says, "That sounds good to me as well."

Sofi states, "I've never been to a spa before, but it sounds like it might be fun."

Chinatsu smiles and says, "I'm always up for a spa day."

"Fantastic! I was hoping everyone would want to go."

Mama looks at Sofi and tells her, "Sofi, Playland Spa has nearly anything you could want in a spa. Several different types of hot spring baths, including a large hydrogen carbonate one for mixed bathing, which I don't recommend unless nudity doesn't bother you. There are also regular hot tubs, jacuzzi tubs, saunas and acupuncture, along with various types of massages and beauty treatments."

"Mama, if it's alright, I'd like to invite Mayumi as well."

"Of course it's alright."

"Good. I'll text her about it."

Pulling my phone out of my purse, I unlock it and open the messaging app. Scrolling down, I select Mayumi and send, 'Hi. We are going to Playland spa tomorrow and I'd love it if you come with us.' Sending the message, I place my phone on my lap. It isn't even a minute later that my phone chimes. Opening the message to her reply, 'Hi, I'd love to go since I have the day off. What time should I be at your house?'

"Mama, are we going to make a day of the spa?"

"Mhmm. We might as well get our money's worth."

"So, we'll leave here at 9:00?"

"9:00 is perfect. That will give us time to eat breakfast and clean up afterward. Is Mayumi coming?"

"She is. She was wondering what time to be here at the house."

"Tell her not to worry about coming here. We'll pick her up on our way to Playland."

"Thanks Mama."

I send back, 'We'll pick you up at your apartment around 9:15.'

A few moments later, I receive her reply, 'Alright. See you tomorrow morning. I need to get back to work. Love you.'

I reply, 'I love you too.'

I set my phone back on my lap and tell Mama, "Alright, I told her we would see her around 9:15."

Mama says, "Okay," and unmutes the TV to finish watching her movie. As I snuggle up to Mama, she looks at me, grins and slips her arm around my shoulders. Of course, Chinatsu snuggles against me as well and I take her hand. Glancing at my watch, I see it's a little after 4:00. Ryu should be home soon and text or call me to tell me what he found out. I'm hoping he has good news. More than that, I want any boys he found to be like him. 

Sitting there staring at the TV without actually seeing the movie, I contemplate the problem between Chinatsu and Ryo. At this point, I believe I need to do something about the two of them since I hate seeing her upset like this. The best thing would be for Ryu and me to sit down with him and have a heart to heart talk. It would be best if she did it, so I'm not sure if my doing so will help or not, but I don't want to see the status quo continue. It isn't all his fault either since her refusing to talk to or see him isn't helping the situation. I'm not saying she doesn't have a legitimate complaint. Especially with the way he acted Sunday. Neither am I disputing that he's a narcissistic ass. At the same time, I know he really likes her and that she likes him. As I said, Ryu and I need to sit down with him to talk about this and get him to see what he's doing wrong. Later, I might have to do the same with Chinatsu. Even if it does make her angry, I'm going to make them fix this one way or another before Saturday.

My phone chiming startles me out of my musings. Picking up my phone, I unlock it, and open the messaging app to see a text from Ryu, 'Hey babe. I just got home. When I change clothes I'll come over to get you.'

I reply, 'Alright, see you soon.'

Looking at Mama, I tell her, "That was from Ryu, he's coming over to get me since there's a couple of things to talk about and I want to ask Maki how her first day at TGR went."

Mama looks at me with a perplexed expression. "I didn't know she was working there."

"Mhmm. I hired her yesterday as a lab tech."

A few minutes later the door intercom chimes. Getting up, I head to the front door, and slip on my heels before opening the door. Smiling in anticipation, I take the short step to him while closing the door behind me. I wrap my arms around his neck to pull him down to me as I stretch up on my tiptoes for a tender, lingering kiss from the boy I love so much. 

He's getting so much better at taking the initiative now. You folks know me, I dearly love surrendering myself to what my partner wants from me, even if I do have to restrain some of my more animalistic urges when it comes to Ryu. That said, he reaches down to grab my butt and picks me up while I wrap my arms and legs around him. As our kiss deepens and becomes more passionate, I hold him as tightly as I can and simply lose myself in the seductive feel of his muscular body against mine. 

Several minutes later, I break our kiss, nuzzle against his neck and simply enjoying being held by him as I sigh contentedly. "Damn Honey! That was magnificent. I missed you."

His breath tickles my neck as he replies, "I missed you too. Why else do you think I called you the second I got home?"

Of course, I'm smiling as say, "Hmm… Could it be because you wanted to make out with the cute girl that lives next door to you?"

He chuckles and holds me a little tighter. "You might be right."

Kissing my way up his neck to his ear, I whisper, "I hope you aren't using her."

"Never. She'd kick my butt if I even thought about it."

"Damn right she would. I know for a fact that she loves you."

He kisses my neck. "I love her too. That's why I'd never do something to hurt her."

I lean back enough to look at him and grin. "Yet, here you are with me. Care to explain that?"

He smiles and shakes his head. "Easily done. I fell in love with you the moment I laid eyes on you. Who wouldn't? Now, how about we take this somewhere a little more private?"

"Honey, the only way someone can see us is if they stand right at the gate and look in at us, but okay, let's go back to your house. I'd like to talk to Maki for a few minutes anyway."

"Alright. I suppose I can give you two a few minutes of privacy. Do you want to get down so we can go?"

I shake my head slightly and grin mischievously. "Nope. I want you to carry me... Even so, I know how you are, so I'll give you a break today. Though I will say this, you need to worry less about what other people think since you want to be an attorney. You'll have to get used to being the center of attention."

He nods. "I know all of that, particularly since I'm also dating the genius daughter of one of the most high profile attorneys in Tokyo."

"Trust me, I understand. I'd much rather not have to worry about public image and everything, but there are many reasons I have to." Sighing, I release my hold on him and he gently sets me down. "As much as I want to continue to make out and cuddle with you, let's go do this. We have something else to do as well and I'm not really looking forward to it."

Taking my hand, we walk over to his house. Announcing ourselves as we enter, I hear Maki reply from the living room. Slipping off our shoes, he heads upstairs while I go to see Maki.

In the living room, I give her a hug and say, "Hi Mama-Maki."

She smiles while hugging me back. "Hello Sora." After she releases me, we sit down and she asks, "How are you today?"

"I'm doing great. How about you?"

"A bit tired, but not too bad."

"Good. How was your first day at work? Did everyone treat you alright?"

"Work was awesome. I like Kotomi and she's the no nonsense type, which I really like. She caught the person she assigned to show me how things are done being snide and stomped down on them. She told her, 'Look, if you can't do the jobs I assign you without being a bitch, then I don't need you here.' Even so, Kotomi replaced my trainer and I like him a lot better than the girl." She chuckles and grins. "He even flirted with me a little."

I smile and nod. "I can see that Mama-Maki. After all, you are a pretty lady. Sorry about the girl being a bitch though."

"There are always people like that around, so it's something we have to deal with. Kotomi did say my clothes weren't really appropriate for work. It looks like I'm going to have to figure out a way to buy clothes along with everything else with my first paycheck."

Grinning like the Cheshire Cat, I tell her, "It's fine, we can do something about it. How would you like to go on a shopping trip with your future daughter-in-law?"

Smiling, she takes my hand, and replies, "I'd love to since it's something I always wanted to do with a daughter."

"Fantastic! Umm, we can't do it this weekend because Saturday will be date day and Sunday Mama's taking us girls shopping for yukatas for the Sumidagawa Fireworks Festival on the 27th. Do you want to come shopping with us too? You might have fun."

"Sure, it does sound like fun. I haven't done things like that since I was in high school."

"Sounds like you're overdue for a girls' day out then. I still need to take the boys shopping for their yukatas as well, but it won't be Sunday. We don't want them to see what we'll be wearing until the festival."

"Sora, you don't have to keep buying my boys clothes."

"Since we are trying to change the way the boys dress, it wouldn't be fair to dump the responsibility of paying for that on you. You see how my family dresses. I found out Sunday we have a lot of eyes on us, so if the boys want to date us, we need to change their look and that's going to be rather expensive. It wouldn't be right to expect you to pay for something we want." I think about it for a few moments since the festival is so close and my time is limited. "Mama-Maki, would you do me a favor?"

"Sure."

"Would you take the boys shopping for their yukatas? I thought about my schedule for the next week and I don't see when I'll have the time to take them to get them."

"No problem at all."

"Thank you." I open my purse and pull out my wallet. Opening it, I remove five ¥10,000 notes and hold it out to her. "This may seem like a lot for a couple of yukatas for them, but I'd like them to be high quality. Please, don't let the boys choose them."

She chuckles. "I promise I won't." 

She takes the money and I drop my wallet back into my purse as I tell her, "Thank you. That's probably far more than you'll need for them, but I'd rather be sure about it… Now, about shopping for you. As I said, I don't have much time, so how about going Friday with me? I'm pretty much free that day."

"I'd love to, but I have work."

"Hang on a moment and I can fix that." 

Reaching into my purse, I take out my phone, unlock it, scroll through my contacts until I find Kotomi and click on it. Two rings later she answers. "Hi Sora."

"Hi Kotomi. I hate to do this to you since I just had her sent to you, but I'll be borrowing Maki Ueno Friday. I need to do some things Friday and I'm going to take her with me, alright?"

"Sure, why wouldn't it be alright? You're the boss."

"Thank you Kotomi. Please make sure she's paid for the day too as this is work related."

"Certainly."

"Thank you. Have a good night Kotomi." Ending the call, I drop my phone in my purse. "See? Easy enough."

"Didn't you just lie to Kotomi about it being work related?"

"No. You need clothes for work, so this is work related… Alright, on to less pleasant things. We have a big problem with Ryo and Chinatsu. Even before Sunday Chinatsu was having problems with Ryo's narcissism. Sunday seems to have brought it to a head though and it's not getting any better. All he keeps doing is apologizing to her instead of moving forward and making things right with her. At this point, she doesn't want to see or talk to him and that's not helping anything. I know she still likes him, but if he doesn't take steps to fix this quickly their relationship is finished. I don't want to see that happen since it would make both of them unhappy. Can you help me have a talk with him?"

She sighs loudly. "After all I told him, he still does this. That boy is too much like his father in some ways. Alright, we can give it another shot. I hate to say this, but if he screws this up, I don't see him finding another girl like her."

I nod. "She's a very special girl. I wonder if he knows how lucky he is to have her as his girlfriend?"

She shrugs with a small smile. "I believe he does, but I'm willing to bet he has no idea how to deal with her or this… Okay, give me a minute and I'll go get him."

I reply, "Okay," as she stands and goes to get him. 

I pull out my phone to text Ryu that, 'Sorry honey, I'll be a little while longer,' and put back up my phone. A few minutes later she comes back into the living room with Ryo in tow. She sits down beside me and he literally flops into the chair, which makes me frown since his posture and attitude are horrible.

"Hi Ryo," I say pleasantly.

His grunt as a reply instantly makes me furious and I think, 'Why I'm even bothering to try and fix things between them?'

Eyes blazing angrily, I surge to my feet and snap at him, "Don't you dare grunt at me! One: it's rude and two: this is part of the damn problem you're having with Chinatsu! I have half a mind to blow off talking to you and simply tell Chinatsu to break up with you!" When he starts to say something, I yell at him, "Shut up and listen! I don't want to hear a bunch of lame excuses!"

A moment later, I hear the 'thump, thump, thump' of Ryu running down the stairs. I have to admit, I was rather loud so it's not all that surprising. When he comes into the living room, he demands, "What's going on?"

Maki tells him, "Nothing much, it's just Ryo being rude again and Sora snapped at him."

He walks over to Ryo and glares at him. "Ryo, brother or not, you will not act that way with Sora, or I'll kick your ass from one end of this house to the other. She has been nothing but nice to you and you will show her the respect she deserves, do I make myself clear?"

He nods and looks at me. "I apologize Sora. I'm irked that my game was interrupted."

I'm literally flabbergasted. I mean, seriously!? A friggin game is more important than your girlfriend? Excuse me here, but what the fuck!? I look at the ceiling and roll my eyes with a loud sigh. I think, 'Is it even possible to get him to understand?' 

Looking down to Ryu, I tell him, "Come sit by me honey." I sit down beside Maki and he comes over to sit by me.

Once he has, I take his hand. Closing my eyes, I take a deep breath and when I open them, I say, "Ryo, is a game more important than your relationship with Chinatsu?"

"No. No, it isn't."

"Then please explain to me why you're playing a game rather than trying to fix things with Chinatsu."

"I've tried calling and texting her, but she won't talk to me for the last couple of days."

"Have you done anything else? By that I mean, have you gone over to our house to sit down and talk to her?" 

He shakes his head and says, "No, I figured if she wouldn't talk to me on the phone that it wouldn't be any different in person."

I look at Ryu. "Honey, if I was mad at you over something and wouldn't talk to you on the phone, what would you do?"

"I'd give you a little time to calm down and come over to talk to you. I wouldn't let things keep going on like that."

I smile at him and squeeze his hand. I already knew he wouldn't, but, "Why wouldn't you?"

"Simply because the longer you leave things as they stand; the worse they will get. Ignoring a problem and hoping it will solve itself is nothing more than wishful thinking."

I reach up to caress his cheek, lean over and whisper in his ear, "Do you wonder why I love you?" I tenderly kiss his cheek for a moment and look back at Ryo.

I gently ask, "Ryo, do you see the difference? Girls want you to show us how important we are to you. I know for a fact that I'm the most import thing in Ryu's life. I know there's nothing he wouldn't do for me. How do I know this? He shows me every single day with his actions. Words have their own power and they are great. Look, you can tell someone you love them, but if what you say and what you do contradict each other then it means nothing. Are you doing any of that by sitting in your room playing games?"

"No, but I'm not Ryu."

I sigh. "Did I say you were? I'm not asking for you to be a clone of Ryu. What I am asking is for you to think beyond yourself. The people in your life are what make it worth living. Money, fame, and all the rest of that can't make you happy. It might add to your happiness, but that's all. Relationships take effort. Do you think that my family being as close as we are doesn't take a lot of work? Let me be the first to tell you that it does. Apathy and neglect in a relationship is a quick path to seeing it destroyed. In the simplest terms, relationships are like flowers. If you don't care for them, they wither and die. Does any of this make sense to you?"

"It does, but I still have no idea how to fix things between us."

He can be so frustrating. "Did you ever think to ask any of us for help or advice?"

This carries on right up until I get a text from Honoka telling me that dinner will be ready in a few minutes. I tell them I'll be back after dinner with Chinatsu so they can talk things out. We gave him quite a few ideas about this. Number one being what I already told him, stop thinking of only of himself first and foremost. I suppose we shall see how this works out after dinner.
