This story may not have a clear genre, I hope it won’t only be dark, but also a bit humorous.

Once upon a time, there was a boy. His name was Henry William and born in California at approximately July 1983. When he was a baby, he was left alone in an orphanage at the suburb of San Francisco. He was found in the middle of the cold night by the orphanage caregiver.
Even though the orphanage was full already, but when she was seeing an innocent baby left alone by his irresponsible parent, she couldn't bear to left him alone. So she picked him up and found a card with 'Henry William' listed on it. And so that was how the journey of Henry William began.
Henry was growing up as a silent, anti-social, and intelligent child. When he was three years old, instead of happily playing with another orphan, he was more interested study with the volunteer teacher.
The teacher was pleasantly surprised when he discovered Henry talent and intelligence. When the other three years old couldn't even talk clearly, Henry already mastered the whole curriculum of the kindergarten. Noticed Henry was a diamond covered by mud, the teacher spent all of his energy to taught Henry.
His effort didn't go waste as Henry always surprised him. By the age of four, Henry already entered an elementary school near the orphanage. But as it seems genius always had their own problem, Henry didn't make any friend in the school.
Not because bullying or anything, but it just Henry didn't actively socialize or even he tried to evade it. The teacher already discussed this issue with Henry for many times, but it to no avail. So the teacher just let it go as long Henry was happy.
As everyone knew, a diamond was always a diamond even when it was covered in mud. Henry performance could only be described as a rocket. When he was five years old, he was directly jumped into the third grade. At this point, everyone in the school knew there was a genius boy among them.
In just three and a half years, Henry already completed the whole elementary school curriculum. If not because the school felt it was too fast and some legal issue, Henry already graduated since six months ago. Henry then received a scholarship into the best junior high school in San Francisco.
Even after four years in the elementary school, Henry still didn't have a single person he could call a friend. But it didn't matter to him as he felt the knowledge was more attractive to him rather than the imaginary 'friend.'
Henry performance continued to advance as his reputation as a genius boy began to spread in San Francisco. As an eight years old boy, he already completed junior high school. And as always, he immediately received a scholarship to the most prestigious private high school in California.
And at this point of time, Henry reputation began to spread in the United States academic circle due to his participation in various International Science Competition. Even though he didn't win on all of that, but he still won quite many competition.
Henry did his high school normally like other people. It was not his wish, but rather the high school didn't allow him to jumped his class even if he already mastered all of the high school knowledge. Why? It was because of a simple reason which was he was just too young!
Henry was just 12 years old this year. Even though everyone knew him as an anti-social boy, but the high school still decided to let Henry to experienced a 'normal' high school period. Anyway, Henry was okay with that decision as he had another thing to distract him.
As everyone knew, money was a thing that ran the world. There was a say, maybe money couldn't buy you happiness, but everything else needed money!
Even though Henry was just a young boy and was supported by the scholarship now, but he knew it was temporary. Last year, the orphanage that raised him from childhood closed down due to insufficient fund to keep it going. Since then, he began to know the importance of money.
As the high school had nothing to teach him, they let Henry free to did whatever he wanted as long he attended the class once a week. Now that he had free time, he finally studied the thing he always curious, the Internet.
Since its inception, the Internet had liberated and made easier many jobs that human did. But that was not the thing he attracted, but it was the huge opportunity behind the Internet! The time now was 1995, and there was a lot of companies with $1 Billion in market value just relied by the Internet.
By using the money he painstakingly saved from the reward from many competition, Henry bought a lot of Internet-Related books. Just say it, Java, C++, Python, and many more. A pity he couldn't bring a computer into the dormitory as the school didn't allow it. But it was ok for him as he thought to saved the knowledge first and then applied it later.
And just like that, two years flashed in a flash. Even though his fame as a genius boy has subsided recently, but many people still knew Henry. After graduated from high school, he immediately offered a scholarship by many famous universities like Harvard, Standford, and many more.
Henry already made a decision and chose to accept MIT scholarship as it was the strongest university in the term of technology. Due to the foundation he learned at the time when he was on high school, Henry advanced leaps and bound. Many professors even personally taught him everything they got, which made his knowledge grew deeper each day passed.
After another three years passed, Henry finally graduated from MIT with cum laude on his head. He wasn't going to continue into the Post Graduate though as he felt it was rather pointless. After heard this news, many companies quickly extended their olive branch to him.
After careful consideration, Henry accepted Microsoft as his first company. He already had a plan inside his mind that he brewed for the last several years.
After joined the Microsoft, Henry quickly rose through the rank with his strong hand-on research capability. In just one and a half year, he already promoted to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Although the Internet bubble just crashed recently, Microsoft didn't get affected much due to their unique position.
Henry left Microsoft in 2001 even after Bill Gates personally offered the CEO position to him. Even though he left, but he and Microsoft still maintained a good relationship.
Henry became incognito for three years, and no one knew what was he doing in that period. He joined a startup company called Facebook which shocked many practitioners in the industry. Henry became CEO and held 15% share of Facebook.
Henry decision quickly proved right in the next five year. Facebook quickly grew into one of the most used Social Media in the world. Even after many rounds of financing, Henry still held 10.53% of the share and valued at $1.05 Billion at the time.
In the next three, Henry share worth continued to skyrocket. When Facebook went IPO in 2012, which valued at $104.2 Billion, Henry wealth continued to skyrocket. With 8.78% shares on his hand, Henry officially entered the rank of the wealthiest person on the Forbes list.
A pity the good day didn't last long as Henry suddenly diagnosed with late-stage brain cancer. Even though he experienced a mixture of emotion like anger, sadness, unwilling, and many more, but it was a painful fact.
Knew he had cancer, Henry dejectedly resigned from his position as the CEO of Facebook. Nobody other than the hospital he was checked knew he had late-stage brain cancer. So, everyone surprised, and it included Mark Zuckerberg, the Chairman of Facebook, and a 'friend' of Henry.
But after listening to Henry explanation, Mark could only say sorry and wish the best for him. Knew he had not much time left, Henry sold all his share even if the value reduced slightly. In just one week, all of his 8.12% shares quickly digested by the market and which partially sold to Mark.
With $24 Billion liquidity on his hand, Henry donated 99% of it to many charity organization. Even though he knew much of it would be 'lost' along the way, but he didn't have time to care something like that. The last 1% was for his teacher and the orphanage lady that taught and raised him since he was a baby. He always regarded them as his father and mother figure even if they had a different skin color.
Henry spent the last of his moment on the hospital bed with his 'father' and 'mother.' Henry slowly felt his eyelid got heavier, and finally, he couldn't resist it. On his last moment, he could only unwillingly shouted on his heart.
'God! Why you make my life so miserable?!! If only I can get everything back, if only...' Before Henry could finish it, his vision immediately entered the darkness.

"OK," Ren Xiaosu said.
However, An Yuqian suddenly realized that other than Ren Xiaosu, there was another group of students who came to study in the afternoon. There were over 20 male and female students, and they had been sitting in the library all afternoon for several days in a row.

"I suggest you all first read Chen Jixiu's Mathematical Analysis as an introduction, then learn linear algebra. You won't have learned enough about this topic in high school."
"There's no need to read General Physics." An Yuqian threw a book onto the table. "Just read The Feynman Lectures on Physics."
"True Analysis… Forget it, you don't have to read that yet."

The visit to Diagon Alley was quite fruitful for William. It confirmed that this is truly Harry Potter world. 

William drawn some conclusion after his visit, first is there is no mention of time period before birth of Harry Potter, so his advantage reduced and second he had to stay clear from Dark Lord matter until his strength become significant compared to Dark Lord or Dumbledore. 

Although William felt some doubts, he was confident that he could become wizard. Because for the moment, when he just transferred into original body he felt some weak trace of blue energy. When he just entered Diagon Alley, he felt that energy once again. Even though he did not know, if that energy is magical energy, it is the most probable explanation. 

First thing he did after his trip, to review all the  books. Books were quite easy to understand compared to modern day high school curriculum. But he knew, in Wizarding world theory will remain theory without practical it would be useless for diving deeper into the study. 

From what he could remember there is no mention of meditation in Harry Potter books. Anyway he did not have anything to do he decided to add one hour daily meditation before exercise in morning. 

Meditation is nothing but being in natural state and empty all thoughts from mind. Even though he could not feel magical energy, his perception of surrounding become clear and his thought process became smooth. William had feeling that meditation will be key for learning Occlumency. 

William sets himself two goals for next two years. One is to earn money as much as possible to support his future endeavors and two feel magical energy to practice as many spells as possible. 

During following year many changes happened in William. He got taller due regular physical exercises. Most noticible change was his eyes, his pupil changed from black to blue. With black hair, fair skin and blue eyes he looked quite charming. 

The change in his eyes happened during half year ago, when to earn significant money he decided to use previous life talent that is of course fishing. The requirement of large and fresh fish is very important in London as Fish and Chips was one of the favorite dish in London. 

When he jumped into the river to obtain large fish, his long forgotten magical energy starts to move on itself. After that time he was like fish in water and he had earned his first bucket of money from river. From that time, he decided to practice his control his magical energy and continue his meditation inside water where he can feel some sort of belonging. 

Although he felt abundance of magical energy  it was very hard for him to guide his magical energy. For better control of magical energy he decided to empty his reserves by practicing spells. Transfugration was quite hard for him compared to charms but by trial and error method he became quite proficient in all first years subjects. 

William thought, "I have to at least get a basic understanding about Occlumency and Legilimency in next year, so I can protect my secrets properly" 

Although it was very hard, he determined to properly shield his mind. And for that to happen he got wonderful idea that is of course meditate inside of water and then try Occlumency.

His school,Milton High,is the most prestigious school in the city but is far from the best despite the building looking like a grand monument with several amazing details such as roman sculptures and details. As he entered he sees how the inside is as usual rundown and dated with drabby colors on the walls.Many students including newbies are running around the place,both excited and nervous.Some looking for their lockers while others talking to their best friends,catching up earlier on in the year.

Just then he spots his long time best friend since primary school,Zane,standing at a corner fiddling with his phone.Zane was a dark-skinned guy with freckles and short hair.He wore a green polo shirt with a leather brown jacket along with blue jeans and pink shoes.He was by no means cool looking like the other buffed up schoolmates but he is known in the school for being the smartest other than Dwayne himself.Despite this,most girls dislike him as they find him weird due to his weird clothes and habits such as constantly eating chocolate in the middle of the afternoon or his obsession with finding stuff online just for his pleasure.To Dwayne,it was no wonder he was called chocolate man and a pervert by many despite never going to PornHub before or making any weird searches.This resulted in Dwayne himself being called a pervert as well due to their friendship since primary school.

"Hey lonely chump,heard that you lost your parents huh in that tragedy,must have been because you parents have lost hope in you because your shit!" He and his gang of misfits start to laugh while onlookers looked on.Dwayne tries to ignore Jack and wander past but is pulled back into the fray literally by Jack."Nice Try BONEY FUCKER. Couldn't even make it FUCKING past the sports trials at school!" Jack and his misfits bursts into laughter before Jack stared down at Dwayne. "Well at least I'm smarter than you." Dwayne fearfully talked back before he is pulled towards Jack's fists.

When Hermione first woke up she couldn't figure out where she was. Slowly she remembered last night. Yes, she was finally in Hogwarts.

She immediately emptied her truck and went to the bathroom after choosing her clothes. She quickly wore her school uniform after showering and brushing her teeth.

After putting her books on the shelf, she hung the clothes in the closet. She was lucky that she did not have to worry about ironing or cleaning because of the enchantments. When she went down to the common room, she couldn't see anyone around. She immediately chose a book of her interest from the bookcase next to the fireplace and sat on one of the seats. After a while, upper class students started to go down.

"Good morning," said a blonde girl, smiling. "You're early. Breakfast wıll be ready in half an hour, do you want to come with us?" she asked.

"Thank you for your offer. Why not?. I'm used to waking up with the first light of the morning. Do you know when the lessons begin?" Hermione asked.

"You will not have a lot of lessons because you are first class, only the main lessons. So your first lesson starts at 9:30 am - 10:00 am. Don't worry. Professor Flitwick(our head of house)will deliver the curriculum. You can also find announcements and the questions shared on the board,  it hangs on the wall between the stairs. " She said whıle pointing and she brought a book from the bookcase and started reading it.

"Thank you," Hermione said, and walked over to the board after replacing the book.

The school rules in the booklet, which were given when purchasing their books, were written on the board, there were only minor differences so Hermione started reading the rules:

Rules of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

1. First years who answer questions for the first lessons correctly earns 10 points whichever houses they belong.

2. Each correct answer will be awarded 5 to 10 points by professors and with each wrong answer 5-10 points will be deducted.

3. Bullying is prohibited. Those who fight and bully if caught will cause 10 to 15 points to be deducted in case it`s proven that spell are used 20 to 50 points will be deducted.

4. 5 points will be deducted for taking library books out of castle without permission.

5. 5 points will be awarded each students helping their classmates for practical courses.

6. Between  10:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. students are forbidden to leave house rooms. 20 to 50 points will be deducted if caught wondering corridors or castle by stuffs and prefects.

7. Students will be deducted 10 points for being late to their classes without  permit (except the first years first class)

8. All professors should be respected and 10 points will be deducted for insulting teacher.

9. Winner of Quidditch will be awarded by 200 points, runner ups 150 points, third house 100 points and the fourth house 50 points.

10. Winner House of House Cup will be awarded privileges the next year till the end of the year.

They will be exempted from curfew for extra one (11:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m. for the winner house) . They can read books from restricted shelves in the library with the permission of professor. Each member of house has a right to be exempted from any exam or homework for once and will not lose points and have average passing mark for their exam or homework.  Quidditch  team can reserve training grounds for Fridays. (Be warned those privileges will be lost next year if not used )

And so on the rules were going on. It was nearly time for breakfast and Hermione with others went to the great hall but it was deserted and only some Hufflepuffs and Slytherins were in the hall, no Gryfinndor.

Professor Flitwick came to their table and gave their curriculum. Hermoine quicly looked it and focused on today's courses:

According  to the schedule they had nine lessons and three joint lessons with each houses. Potions, flying and Charms with Hufflepuffs;  DADA, Magical Theory and Astronomy with Slytherins and Herbology, Hıstory of Magic and Transfiguration with Gryfinndors.  An interesting year is waiting them. As she thought about future she kept eating her breakfast and then returned her room for preparing the first day.

And I got back to school again. I did this for 5 years, and I learned many information in School, such as you can't go to a magic school if you are 12 years old and below. That you can register as an adventurer in the age of 7. and many other information about this world. and I learned some useful magics.
and gained 30 levels while hunting monsters at Amethyn.

The sun was rising, and I woke up Klein and Allie. When we finished eating breakfast. I said.

"Mom, Dad, I'm leaving the village."

"Why?" Klein 

"I want to become an adventurer. and I want to enter a Magic Academy when I'm 13." I replied

"Ok, then which magic academy, will you join to? Drasonia, Academy, Which boasts their combat effectiveness of their magic? , Zaemmarth, Academy, who is boasting how good they are at Crafting magical items? Stroxwyce, Academy, which boasts about it's curriculum about battlemages? or the last one Ashmoor, Academy, Which is the most balance.?" Klein

"I think I'll pick ashmoor, cause it has the most balance curriculum in this 4 academies" I replied

"ok then there will be a caravan coming next month in the village, it's destination will be the town of Didenhilt. and we will have a match if you can't beat me, Don't even think about leaving the village." Klein

I don't know why but, I don't have any memories, but then I just opened up my inventory and saw 5 books which are Magic Manipulation for Dummies, World of Azeroth Introduction, A Book on explaining every races on Azeroth, Math Caligraphy and Language of Azeroth, and the final book EVERY KINDS OF FIRE MAGIC Tier 1-10. and my inventory has a Strange Looking Fruit. I pressed the fruit and it came out in my inventory, I read the description and known the name of this fruit it was an Angel Fruit, it was called Honei Honei no Mi (Bone Bone Fruit), the appearance was a Rotten Apple with swirls and a skull. The system says.

It's a Logia type, and has the power to Allow the user to control fossils and the dead, when struck the user shatters into bones and can reconstruct themselves, can use bones as armor, a shield, or a weapon as well as reanimate the dead. Similar to a necromancer. Note: With great concentration can control the living. and its has no weaknesses.
So I just ate the fruit, and after that a window popped up

And then I just ignore my character description, and looked at my map and my current location was the cursed woods. so I rest for a bit and tried to master my Fruit gained abilities.
After Using my Fruit gained ability, I finally Mastered it, and I managed to create a bone sword, and it costs around 1,500 stamina to make one. and it is stronger than a Rare weapon that is tier 2. and read the book about this world.
I learned from the book that the stat. of an average creature is 100 below.
meaning I'll be an A rank adventurer if I wan't to be one of them.
'nice' it was what I thought. then I just started reading the other book's from a high tree, but then I heard a loud scream.

"HELP!!!!!!!!!!!" ???
I thought 'nah not helping them they will just ruin my day'
Then I heard the scream again "PLEASE ANYONE HELP US!!!!" ???

Then I was struggling in my brain thinking if I should help or no.

It was the lunch break. This was the time when the noise in the classroom was at it's peak due to a cacophony of sounds. Studying at this time was nearly impossible unless you listen to some music to drown out the noise or buy those overpriced noise cancelling ear-plugs. Alex was choosing the first option with his legs spread out on his table, a book in his lap and a headphone covering his ears which was blasting at maximum volume possible.


That would have been enough normally, but for Alex, a person who recently awakened to his previous life memories, it was anything but easy to concentrate on the book on his lap. Why? Well I don't know. It may be due to a group of boys at one corner surrounding two people who were playing something which resembled chess. Only that the chessboard like thing was floating in the air and the pieces on it seemed to be alive. And mind you not alive like robots or little pieces of machinery, but really alive. Or it may be due to a group of girls surrounding another girl who had a ethereal purple color cat with sparks on it's body floating around her. Alex used to live on Earth, just like you and I. But the scene he was seeing definitely, could not be found on Earth. Because he no longer was on earth. This was Gran city on a planet called Manlore.


Alex lived a pretty mediocre life on Earth until at the age of 25, he passed away due to an unfortunate car accident. That should have been the end. But on the sixteenth birthday of the Alex of this world, he suddenly remembered all that happened in his previous life. He was still not sure if he transmigrated and the souls merged or that the life from the planet called earth was really his previous life, all he knew was that he had two sets of memories and they both seemed like his own. But Alex always felt as if he was a person from Earth rather than a person from this world. This could have been due to the age difference of the two lives, which caused one portion of memories to exert significantly more influence on his personality than the other or it could simply be that he had occupied the body of this poor boy called Alex and inherited his memories. Alex sub-consciously leaned towards the previous theory.




Possessing the new set of memories as if they were his own, Alex still had problems adjusting to this phenomenon at the beginning. Why? Obviously because as cliche as it sounds, he was transported to a fantastical alternate universe or timeline or some other distant planet, he had no idea which. This discovery did not let him sleep properly at night for the last couple of days since his birthday. Having lived a very boring life previously, initially there was excitement, then there was curiosity, then came the wariness... The multitude of emotions almost drowned him. Magic, cultivation, witchcraft, whatever you want to call it was something entirely new for both the Alex despite it being present in his everyday life. As it was on his sixteenth birthday only, that Alex finally awakened his soul spirit.


"Hey Alex! We will be hanging out with Leo and the bunch after school. Will you be coming?"


A green haired boy shook Alex's shoulders and pulled him out from his book. Alex looked up to find a tall bulky boy with a height of more than 6 feet and bulging muscles looking at him with a smile. His hair was wavy and neatly swept to the side in contrast to his square face which looked a bit crude. But his green hair still gave him an air of nobility not seen commonly on Earth. Of course, the guy did not have any special background and this was due to the nature of how genes would carry some of the characteristics of the abilities of you and your ancestors on this planet. His name was Larry and he just turned 17 a month ago.


Alex pulled the headphones down to his neck. The music was still blasting through the speakers of the headphones and now it could be faintly heard outside.


"Sorry. Come again."


Larry shook his head with a smile.


"I said that me, Ruth and Sarah will be hanging out with Leo and his group after the school. Will you be coming? Lucy will be there too, you know."


Larry took the seat next to Alex and elbowed him with a smirk while sneaking a glance to the book he was reading. The book was titled "A preliminary study on the characteristics of Spiritual Energy" and wasn't a book that a high school boy would normally read. It was generally in the college curriculum.


"Sorry, but I will pass. I have to finish this book."


Alex replied in an indifferent tone while his eyes veered back towards his book. Larry pouted at Alex's reply.


"Come on. The holidays are starting from tomorrow for the college exams preparation. Today is the last day. Also, why are you studying so hard? You are already the top scorer in our city, do you want to skip another grade in University too? "


Alex shook his head on hearing Larry. On this world too, Alex was quite smart and had skipped a grade. Hence he was a year younger than most of the other students in the class but was still the city wide top scorer in the previous city-wide mock exams . Of course this caused a small problem...


"Don't pout. You would scare even the ghosts away with that expression. And you know too, that I just awakened my soul spirit. I have only these two months to prepare and all the Spirit Universities put more emphasis on the development and abilities of the soul spirit than college entrance examination scores."


Alex didn't even look at Larry and replied in a strict tone. Source spirits were one of the popular ways on this planet to gain abilities and magical powers on this planet. Of course there were other ways too like martial arts, body cultivation, spiritual energy cultivation and so on. But soul spirit being something innate to the soul allowed the person to also pursue other paths and hence was much more popular as an entry path.


Education was still considered important here and researchers were as valued here as on planet Earth. But in a world where individual power can rival collective power, gaining power either literally or metaphorically was much more important and considered a much brighter path than just pursuing plain education. Also, researchers were no longer the same and they also used various magical powers obtained through various paths to aid them and hence a normal researcher would always be at a disadvantage against such people. As a result, all the top universities also had a metaphysical section as part of their entry requirements and examination. Among these universities, spirit universities which focused on soul spirits and spiritual energy cultivation were considered the cream of the crop.


Soul spirits and spiritual energy cultivation are quite similar due to the fact that they both use spiritual energy to develop and empower their paths. The difference between them is that spiritual energy cultivation center around something called spiritual roots while soul spirit cultivation rely on, obviously the soul spirit. The spiritual roots are an ethereal formation of acupoints and meridians and are fixed at birth and rely heavily on genetics. They have grades and variations among them, which can lead to some cultivators being significantly stronger than others or some cultivators being significantly weaker than others.


Soul spirits on the other hand are outward manifestation of the potential and properties of the soul and are generally random with the exception of a special group of soul spirits which can be inherited. Soul spirits also have bad soul spirits and good soul spirits but there does not exist a proper grading system for them yet. But in contrast with spiritual energy cultivation path, a person with a weaker soul spirit may still become quite strong by developing his soul spirit in the right direction and complimenting it with the right spells. Both have their own unique set of advantages and disadvantages. Thankfully a new path may be pursued after the cultivation in a particular path reaches a stage where it has transformed into a core. But people generally developed their soul spirits first as spiritual energy cultivation was generally quite a bit slower than soul spirit cultivation despite being just marginally stronger. But on the other hand they have more all round development than soul spirit development.


Unfortunately Alex skipped a grade and soul spirits can only be awakened after 16 causing him a significant disadvantage while sitting for the university entrance exams. He had one year less than others to develop his soul spirit and considering he had just roused his soul spirit, that was a significant time gap.


"But they also lower the requirements , don't they?"


Larry questioned while rubbing his non-existent beard.


"They lower the requirements but it's not proportional and in some ways it is even harder to get into a good university when you are younger. That's why I am finishing all the theory as soon as possible, so that I can focus on practicing and improving my soul spirit."


Larry nodded on hearing Alex's words. Alex had skipped a grade last year. At that time, most of the senior year students were turning 16 and Alex was just turning 15. People were beginning to awaken their soul spirits and having their first taste of power. At that time, Alex being a year younger, with no powers to speak of and being a favorite of the teachers was the target of many bullies. But during that period, Larry, Ruth and Sarah suddenly approached Alex. They were people who had strong abilities but were a bit weaker in academics than others. They belonged at the top of the hierarchy of the school and had formed somewhat of a school gang. They worked out a deal in which they protected Alex from the bullies while Alex helped them with their academics and homework. Of course, the arrangement seemed like another form of bullying, but they managed to hit it off and became good friends much to the dismay of other students. Since then, no one even dared to provoke Alex.
"But isn't what you reading part of the university curriculum."


"Well contrary to the popular beliefs that the all the syllabus is contained in the school curriculum, the harder parts of the theory exams come from these books which are not part of the school curriculum. I can't be like a certain someone who is planning to just barely make it through theory exams and depend on the metaphysical scores, right?"


Alex leered at Larry who could only give an awkward laugh while rubbing his head. Ignoring him Alex looked back towards his book, but Larry suddenly changes his expression to a mischievous one and poked Alex on his ribs.


"Well then, that's that I guess. But are you sure you don't want to come? I did mention that your old flame Lucy will be there, right?"


Larry gave a smirk to Alex to which he could only roll his eyes. Alex's dominant personality was of from the Earth but he still had the memories of this lifetime and they even felt as if they had merged with him. So, though there was a sense of distance with others for him, others could not easily detect that. Like with Larry, Alex currently thought of him as just an acquaintance albeit a closer one and not a close friend as previously. But he was still able to maintain a conversation with him as if they were close friends, because he knew how that worked from his memories. It was as if he was acting but he was also not acting.


"You should know by now that I am long over her."


Lucy was an insignificant character from Alex's past. They were neighbors and were of the same age. They were also previously classmates. Lucy being the cheerful and bubbly girl she was, attracted Alex's attention which resulted him to confess to her when he was just 14. But Lucy apparently didn't think much of the stoic Alex and ruthlessly turned him down. Alex decided that he no longer wanted to be around her and directly skipped a grade, surprising quite a few as city wide mock tests are held only in the senior year. Alex had topped the class before this and the teachers knew he was intelligent but they didn't know he was that intelligent. This resulted his standing to increase in the teachers' eyes by quite a few places and as a direct consequence quite a number of recommendation letters fell into his lap as well.


"Who knows? Somewhere deep inside the embers from that old flame may still be smoldering."


Larry spoke while still elbowing Alex on his ribs. Alex narrowed his eyes at Larry while tearing his gaze off from the book.


"You poke me one more time and I swear you can forget about borrowing my notes. You also better find an excuse for Ruth and Sarah as well as to why they won't be receiving them either."


Larry was instantly covered in cold sweat and hastily apologized while Alex kept reading his book. Soon after, a musical tone could be heard in the class signalling the end of the break.

Whom do I trust? I don't know.
What does he think about me? I don't know.
Where did she go? I don't know.
Why did that happen? I don't know.
How do I live? I don't know.
My previous life has been full of "I don't know"s. And when I asked those same questions in this life, the answers were still ...... I don't know.
My thirst for the answers led me to questions which I never wanted to ask. I finally know one thing, ignorance indeed is bliss.
