That evening every single newspaper edition went out with screaming titles such as: "Unanimous Wizengamot Vote!" "Progressive Ministry Acts, what's next?!" "Education Reform!" "Muquibs, who are they, and what you need to now!" And various other titles that spoke of the various reforms, amendments, and new laws to be put into place.

In an old, worn, but comfy home, the grizzled silver-haired former werewolf, Heskel roughly clears his throat as he reads the entire Daily Prophet from front to back. Heskel's hands shake as he tries to contain his emotional state. Quickly blinking his eyes dry, he carefully folds the paper in half, and makes his way to the kitchen.

The small kitchen is filled is packed with children, teens, and various young adults all sitting down at the groaning dinner table. The scent of food fills the air as the cook, a sixteen-year-old youth with vicious claw-like scars across his faces removes a casserole from the oven. 

Timothy smiles at the old former werewolf, who had happily taken their entire pack in without a word of protest. "You're just in time, Heskel," Timothy said. "I was about to call you, but dinner's ready to be served."

"I want to talk to all of you, before we eat," Heskel solemnly said causing everyone in the kitchen to warily glance at him.

Timothy carefully puts down the hot pan on the middle of the table and removes the oven gloves from his hands. "What's wrong?" Timothy asked in worry. "I know that money's been rather tight, despite us older ones finding jobs to care for the young ones."

"It's not that," Heskel said gesturing for Timothy to take a seat.

"Very well," Timothy slowly said as he sat down and waited for Heskel to speak.

A wide grin slowly appears on Heskel's face as he says, "I have wonderful news concerning all your futures."

"You're not going to split us up and send us away are you, Heskel?" Cried out a ten-year-old girl named, Lucy

The ten-year-old girl frantically clutched the hand of an eleven-year-old girl, Martha sitting at her side. Both girls were not blood-related but had been abandoned by their families not long after having been bitten. The two girls were taken in by Grayback, but even then, the two girls saw each other as sisters and did everything together.

"No, no, it's nothing like that," Heskel gruffly said. "All of you are my cubs now, and I protect what's mine." Lucy and Martha sighed in relief as they still clung to each other still afraid of what Heskel had to say.

Heskel held out the paper to Timothy to read as the older ones crammed around to peek over his shoulder. "The Ministry of Magic is not only offering us jobs within the Ministry but education for all adults and for the children!"

"School?" Eagerly asked, a clean, combed twelve-year-old boy named, Jeremy.

"Yes, Jeremy," Heskel solemnly answered. "The schools will open next year for children ages five until they attend Hogwarts."

The glow in Jeremy's eyes dies down as he whimpered, "But I'm already eleven nearly turning twelve."

Heskel grins at him and says, "I know, you'll be going to Hogwarts, my boy."

"Hogwarts!" Jeremy exclaimed in disbelief along with a chorus of others.

"Aye, the Ministry has deemed it that anyone possessing magic belong the age of fifteen can still attend Hogwarts," Heskel explained. "There are about of conditions, but ya'll can still go."

Jeremy's eyes sparkle like the brightest stars as he can't believe the joyous news. He can also attend Hogwarts with his brothers and sisters! However, he quickly glanced over at a nine-year-old with glossy hair and a button nose.

"But what about Cody?" Jeremy asked as the room grew quiet. Cody was an orphan muggle child that was bitten and had been taken in by Ophelia. He had no one except for them, they were his family.

"It's okay," Cody quietly said. "I've got no magic except for still being able to turn into a wolf, because of the nature of magical curse despite having already been cured."

Seeing the glow fading from the other children's eyes, Heskel says, "That's alrighty now, people like Cody have been classified as Muquibs. Meaning, they are able to be employed within the wizarding world including the Ministry of Magic."

"But, but, what about school?!" Cody asked. "I can't get a job, I'm still too little!"

"Ah, well, I didn't get to finish explaining," Heskel replied good-naturedly. "The new schools will also afford higher education to squibs and Muquibs until you're grown. You'll get schooling just like everyone else."

"I can go to school too!" Cody loudly shouted in excitement as everyone else joined in their laughter.

Timothy finally looked up from the paper and said, "We can all get wands now, Heskel."

"Aye, lad," Heskel huskily choked. "We all can except for Cody here." 

Earning a giggle from Cody. "Maybe, but I can still turn into a wolf and that's more magic than any other muggle can do."

"That is certainly is true lad," Heskel said. "Now let's all sit down to eat, the food's getting cold."

"Well, it's all your fault, Heskel," said a young woman with a crooked nose named Sadie.

"Brat," Heskel said earning a wide grin from the young woman and bursts of laughter from the rest of them.

The older girls begin to serve the meal, they carefully feed the younger children before serving themselves. Heskel ensures that all his pups are already eating when he finally serves himself a plate of food. Heskel takes a large forkful of casserole, "It's mighty tasty, Timothy. You've turned into a fine cook and have come a long way from being burning dinner."

Timothy flushed in embarrassment. "Well, at least, I can cook, old man. Your cooking leaves much desired for, why even the little ones can cook better!"

Heskel choked at Timothy's words earning cries of laugher from everyone at the table. Sadie wrinkled her crooked nose in tease and said, "Why even the littlest one, Reuben, who's only seven can make a pot of soup!"

Heskel sputtered even more indignantly as the seven-year-old in question with wiry hair jumps to his feet. "I can make sandwiches, a pot of tasty soup, and even dessert!" Reuben proudly exclaimed earning bursts of delighted laughter from his family.

"It's a conspiracy," Heskel bitterly grumbled. "Everyone's out to get this poor, tired, old wolf."

"Does that mean, that you'll happily accept our matchmaking attempts?" Sadie sassily asked causing Heskel to choke on his food and pound on his chest followed by a chorus of laughter.

Heskel attempted to glare at the older girl, who innocently batted her eyes at him. "I've no use for a woman to be underfoot," Heskel stiffly said. "I've survived this long without one, and I don't plan on getting one now."

"Says you," Timothy loudly said. "Why you were eating out of tin cans for every meal, Heskel, don't you dare deny it! If that's surviving, well, then maybe, you need a wife for your own good, Heskel."

Heskel even more flustered is unable to think of a comeback as he tries to scowl at them only earning giggles instead. "Brats the whole lot of you," Heskel indignantly said. "I'll be eating in the solitary, peaceful confinement of my room." 

With great pride, the elderly grizzled man marched out of the kitchen with a plateful of food. Bursts of laughter and jests follow Heskel out of the kitchen as a wide grin slowly appeared on his face. He'd deny it even until death, but he loved those darn brats even when they were trying to get under his skin, and maybe especially then. They were his family now and he theirs. He'd never been happier, and he'd not trade his present life for all the riches in the world. And that was a fact.

It wasn't really fun being in this kind of party. Li Yi Mei only took this as a new experience since this might become more common in the future.

After a short introduction from her father, she was brought around and had to behave like a good smart kid. Well, Li Yi Mei is not a child in soul therefore it isn't that hard to keep a proper image but her child body couldn't be strained. She was then helped to rest at some table and asked a maid to look out for her needs.

"Mmm~ I want something with strawberry!"

"Please wait for a while here, little miss. I will go and get it for you." said the maid and left her in the soft long chair that could fit 3 more adults. There was also a milk placed on the low table in front her.

Li Yi Mei drank from it. Milk is important for a growing child like her.

"May I sit here?"

A young boy suddenly approached her with a smile. She looked at him in a stare.

Why does he look so familiar?

"Is there something on my face?" The boy touched his face in confusion. Maybe there was some cookie crumbles on his face?

Upon noticing her own stare, Li Yi Mei immediately shook her head to say no.

"You can sit here. I don't mind."

The young boy recovered his smile. 

"Thank you."

It was gentle and very friendly that Li Yi Mei couldn't help but to smile back.


When the maid came back with three types of strawberry flavored desserts, Li Yi Mei and the young boy has been talking in happily.

The boy is called Xiao Feng, two years older than her. It was quite fun to talk with him since Xiao Feng seems to be more mature than his age. And this feels like a big reveal for her.

To train little kids into little geniuses like this... wuuu... fortunately, Li Yi Mei's family is on the doting side and not the strict kind.

Because Li Yi Mei is a child right now, her body can't really take tiring things in many hours. So after just an hour of talking, she was taken back to her room to rest. The banquet still goes since it's not just a simple birthday they are attending but also a chance for future works.

Before leaving, Li Yi Mei waved goodbye to Xiao Feng while her other hand rubbed her sleepy eyes. She was being carried by the maid and can only say "bye bye..." to Xiao Feng.

When she was out of his sight, Xiao Feng still couldn't get his eyes from that direction, seemingly in the middle of a decision.

His mind brought him back to their earlier conversation about how she likes a certain story because Great Madam Li always reads it for her whenever she visits.

She recommended the book to him and hopefully will love it too.

"Cedric Errol..."

He unconsciously murmured.

"Xiao Feng..!"

Xiao Feng heard his cousin brother and blankly turned to him. A moment later, he snapped back into reality and followed the voice.

Time flows faster than Li Yi Mei thought. She was now a little lady at the age of 11, in a few months she would be 12.

At first Li Yi Mei didn't know why the Li family are so overprotective of her, but when she turned ten, her parents explained it.

Someone has been targeting them all these years. It was also the reason why they only had a child five years late into the marriage because it was too dangerous and they had to keep cautious even inside their own houses.

When the pressure eases a little less, it was then Qian Jin Hua got pregnant. But because of fear for their dear child's safety, they had to hid her for a few years to let Li Wu Ren deal with them.

That's why when they made sure it was safer, her fifth birthday was held with a banquet.

They have also loosen a bit of their caution and let Li Yi Mei participate in some outside activities thus her gaining some friends.

When Li Wu Ren finally dealt with the enemy and took care of the aftermath, they decided to enroll Li Yi Mei in a secured private school.

But just after her primary school graduation...

As Reima was finished reading the news paper, an owl flew in and dropped a stack of letters on Ciri's head, some fell into her soup but it seems they've been charmed to be water, or soup proofed... Whether this is because of how often this happens, Reima will never know.

Nerissa pulls out a letter and shakes it off before opening it, her expression doesn't change and she just hands it over to Ciri for her to read... Yup, she's angry again...
Reima sighs, "What is it this time?" he asks.

With this affecting multiple stores we unfortunately find it in our best interests to claim lost revenue via the courts, if you do not recompense our losses you will find yourself facing a lawsuit Miss Rivia."

Reima "Wait, you agreed for them to use your likeness?"
Ciri growls "No, I never did such a thing... Yet they want me to pay for them creating toys of myself without permission!?!" she almost shouts, causing some of the nearby customers to leave, fear of her due to recent events still vivid in their minds. 
Reima "Don't mind them, if they try to sue you then we'll both deal with them."
Tom approaches and says "Uh ah, Miss Rivia, would you do me the favour of not scaring my customers off, please?"
She idly nods to him while tearing open another letter. "Misses Ciri, please give back the toy I sent to you, brother says your a dark witch and will curse me."
Reima "I didn't know kids sent you letters?" he asks curiously.
Ciri "Well, I had a few things sent to me... But looking at this now I'll return them, ungrateful bastards." she says, angry and confused at the sudden change in attitude towards her.
Reima shrugs and opens one for her, if she read through all of these alone they wouldn't have time to visit Diagon Alley. "This one looks to be from the Minister... Apparently he's very disappointed in how you, and I for some reason... Had handled last nights events. He's suggesting you keep your head down in Hogwarts and not cause him any more grief."
Ciri "Well, bugger him. I'll cause all the chaos I want and more." she says rebelliously.

After everyone had eaten their breakfast and looked through the angry letters (Some where from grateful adults) they all got up and prepared to visit the local pet store.
They found it incredibly distracting to walk through the streets, with Ciri's popularity turning to infamy everyone was keeping an eye on her, Reima didn't bother wearing Sunglasses due to the town being magical but that didn't stop people staring. He'd given a pair of glasses to Nerissa to hide her blood red eyes that'd attracted way more bad attention that either he or Ciri. The reason for this being that only Vampires and dark wizards who'd performed disgusting rituals having red eyes, causing people to be instantly wary or hostile towards anyone who has them.

They finally reach the pet shop with no small deal of hassle, inside they see various animals inside, including frogs, owls, mice and many other creatures... The thing that draws his attention the most being the cats, or Kneazle's as the more intelligent magical variety are called. He still remembers his promise to Priscilla of buying her a cat and will buy one these eventually, he decides to purchase one as his time inside this world is closing out, no point having to take care of an animal until then. Nerissa however is immediately drawn towards some sort of dog bed? The shop owner approaches and tells them of how its charmed to always stay warm, clean and comfortable. The almost glittering eyes of the young vampire somehow cause Reima to instantly purchase it... Is this the true power of Moe?
Ciri herself was more interested in the owls but didn't end up wanting any as she felt her life was too dangerous to keep a pet alive and happy.
Reima himself didn't see anything else apart from Priscilla's gift that he'd actually want to buy, familiars were cool but unless he stumbled across a phoenix somehow he'd rather not subject a creature to the levels of power he'd eventually have to face, the phoenix only being an option due to it's immortality that it'd undoubtedly be constantly using...

The group leave the store, the only person looking satisfied being Nerissa who'd bought a vibrating brush that Ciri'd kept glancing at for some reason and the aforementioned dog bed that she'd probably be sleeping in while in bunny form.
Everything didn't go smoothly as they tried to get back to their inn however as it seems the press had heard about them being in Diagon Alley, immediately they are surrounded by an army of journalists, each of them individually trying to get a story from them to boost their respective papers.
"Miss Ciri! Why did you slaughter those unfortunate people!?!"
"Miss Ciri! Are you and Mister Ludvig lovers?"
"Miss Ciri! Is that your daughter or have you kidnapped yet another young girl!?!"
Ciri "I've got nothing to say, I did what I felt was right! No further questions! Get out of my way!" she shouts over the crowd but they don't want to let her pass, any conflict commit by her would make a great story and would be worth any injury they would otherwise sustain.
Reima notices a dark alley way that people seem to avoid and decides to pull Ciri and Nerissa into it, fortunately the reports refuse to follow but most are rapidly writing about what'd just occurred, murmurs of "Dark Witch" can be heard as they travel further into the shadowy street.

Most people who die and are confronted with a godlike being like to take the easy route... Not this guy.

I have been sitting on this concept for a while and want to see if I can write it, starting with the Witcher then the game Absolver and then onto Darksouls 1.

Some onlookers who heard the tune couldn't help but laugh.

"Someone must have bought a toy phone here."

"Hahaha so nostalgic."

And  just before the man could press the call button, he missed the call.
He oppened his phone and saw a notification.

[2 missed calls, 1 unread message.]

"Hmmm unkown number." A young man muttered as he reads through.

Hey! Are you still going to come?
Granny is asking me if you still intend to.]

"Hmm probably, this came from Yana.  Let's save it." He blurrted alone in the brisk sidewalks of Coast sea while his lips arched into a mischivious smile.

"Let's tease her a bit.. Hehe"

[To: HS School Belle
Hey! Who are you?]
"Beep! message Sent."
"Little kid, let's sit for a while."
The young man said so to the little kid in his arms.

He looked sideways for a comfortable place to go through and found a bench near the sidewalks.

When he sat down comfortably, his phone vibrates.
 
[From: HS School Belle
Heyyy so you have other girls inviting you from a meal eh? Its me, Yana.]

"Hahaha that Yana, can't believe a School Belle would be calling and texting me. And What's more? I even ignored her. Haha"

Then a tapping noises came from one arm to another...

[ Sure! I'll go. Just wait.]
"Beep! message sent."
"Alright, little kid. Let's go find your aunt."
And just before he grabbed the little kid again, another message was recieved.

"Haha so cute!" The young man laughed  alone.

"Adults are strange." The Little Kid uttered seemingly pondering with a question in his now, enlarging tiny mind.

Vio and Little Chenchen stood up to walk and go to the docks.

When my name was called, I heard a rang of engine comming near and a soft voice like persimmon, reverberating through my ears.


"Hey Lily! Hop on, I'll take you home."

It turned out that the voice came from Vio, him riding a dirtbike.

His bike was too noisy.

"His voice doesn't suit him, how could a man so manly sound like a sissy?"


I thought, while scanning his body from head to toe. Still irked by the sound of his dirtbike's enhine.
He was wearing dark pants and white shirt with dark brown jacket over his shoulders.

Lustre white, his pale skin glows under the night sky.

Well kept hair, shiny and friskly dancing while waving as he removed his brown helmet off.

"Indeed, attractive."

Again, I internally commented. Glad that I did not unconciously blurrted that out.


"Wow! Is that your bike?" I exclaimed in awe pretending it was his bike that I noticed.

But in my heart It says: "Wow! So dashing."

"Yeah, I took some ride along the neighborhood. Its been awhile, hence the delay." Vio explained to me then, a hollowed laugh escaped him.

"Mmmfff hehe"

"Damn, its cute."

His eyes squinted as if to erase his eye's existence.
His chiseled jaw lifted with a proud, pleasant smile.
Lips curved into crescent after some laugh.

My heart fluttered like the cold breeze of the evening.

"You were just in time. Yana is talking about you and your Highschool days."
I pretended to cling some innosence.

As I said those lines, his shoulders pearched down, hunched like a crooked lie. Suddenly asking: "I hope its not about the bads."

"Well, hehe there's nothing much anyway." 

I said in a cheeky manner, retrieving my gaze from this young man. One second and I think my soul would be sucked in with those chatty eyes of his. Able to scan me with suspicion and wariness.

"Well then, let's go?" He asked.
Like a prince in his charming light and shiny armor, he rode his bike like its a horse with grand stature, carrying his height at ease.


I looked back at the now sharp glazed Yana.

Then, I was forced to take a step back, pause and witness her deamenor.

She looked like a tiger, ready to devour her prey.

Jealousy, Indignation and awe, all written exclusively at her face.

Then Vio spoke.

"We'll be off Yana. Thanks for that sumptous meal."

"No biggie, come here again whenever you want." 

And Vio just beamed a smile as he carried Little Chenchen in his arms.

"How are you little guy?"

Chenchen was a bit annoyed because he was still sleepy while rubbing his eyes.
What a cute fellow.

But when Vio revyed up his bike, a roar rang and the sleepy Chenchen's eyes glowed differently.
The sound of it was noisy, some dogs barked when it echoed.

Me and Yana stood and in unison at the sight in front of us.
A young man and a kid carried in his arms perfectly made the night into a painting.

Chenchen seemed bedazzled at the sight of the bike which had woken him up.

"Woaah. Mister, is this yours?"

Chenchen politely asked. 
Vio smiled mischiviously as if he found his toy.
Am even enamored by that silly smile.

"Yeah! What about it, want some ride?"
Vio asked.

And Chenchen with great vigor nodded his head heavily.

But before in his excited eyes, Vio said something.

"I'll let you ride my bike under one condition..."

Chenchen seemed reluctant at first but when he looked at the bike, his lips quivered into a delightful smile.

Perhaps, knowing that the man in front of him had saved him, and that his aunty seemed to like the man in front of him.

Wait, is it that obvious? I thought, eing nervous internally.

Anyway, Chenchen just casually replied with an,

"Okay."

And Vio continued...

"Call me brother from now on, and I'll let you ride." 

"Brother." 

"Good."

Chenchen was carried in front, was  safely placed in the front seat, near the gas cap.

Then Chenchen added.

"Brother Bonok hehe." Chenchen  laughs, quite comically.

"Who told you that?" Vio reprimanded.

Chenchen shrugged his shoulders as  he casually says,

"John Monk!" 

Then I heard some inaudible curses spranged back and forth.

Vio lost his cool and the splendor, created a while ago was casted out in night's breeze like some fart of an old pig.

"Hayss, bring me back my dreamy Vio." Screaming internally as I waved a good bye to Yana.

"You can have him." I thought as I glanced at Yana, while Vio gave the signal for me to hop on.

Though that's what I first thought.
Vio had that clamor of both dreamy and funny, having the best of both worlds.
He is naturally kind, based solely to him rescuing Chenchen. And he treats us nicely.
Plus a fine  protruding broad muscles can be felt if you touched his back.
He must be hiding these rocks!

Though, I still can't forget the things I learned  about him.

I'm just shocked to know his past from Yana, when she told it to me.

The sound of the dirt bike echoed and Yana seemed to mutter some inaudible words from afar.

This encounter led him to recall his vivid dreams of an Island who houses a great Tree and its inhabitants who calls the place Avalon.

Kakashi wakes up around 9:00 a.m in his bed
and leisurely walks to the kitchen and gets himself a bowl of cereal, he only bought food for two meals yesterday.

<Well looks like I have to go get more food soon.> Kakashi thought to himself and pulls put his phone and reads some icha icha 

Then kakashi exits the house and is off to buy a storehouse and a publishing place and then he is going to gift the world with the best books ever icha icha and make a profit.

At around 1:00 he managed to get everything in order then he goes to a resteraunt and leisurely orders a glass of water and a meatloaf with mashed potatoes.

Afterwords Kakashi writes the first book and finish at 5:00 and then he tells the workers to make about 5,000 copies and he lost about 750,000$. And with the few thousand Kakashi has left bought some groceries and dropped them off amd put them away and started killing more gangs since now he can use the books as his source of income and make it more or less completely untraceable.


 He cleared out a few more wars houses but he noticed the increase in security and decided to lay low he also doesn't need batman coming after him.


So after that carmage went to home and trained and checked all his jutsus as well as his body limits after doing so he meditated  and is very ever closer to breaking high jonin.

Kakashi then relaxes and read some icha icha a fee weeks passed by of kakashi training and learning all his limits and finally tested enough to conclude he has one sharinggan thats all natural. But one day he Has revieved a call saying they need to have a mandatory meeting so Kakashi showed up two hours late.


[Randome employee 1]: "where the he'll were you, you were supposed to be here two hours ago." 

[Kakashi]: "well I had to help a old lady cross the street."

[Random employee 2]: well reprimanding him is useless hes our boss after all, anyways the sales for icha icha was great so far many adults have enjoyed your book and want more your book is a success.

[Kakashi]:<Yes my first step of my plan is working soon I'll corrupt the children hahaha.>
"Ok print as many copies needed and I'll also write the second book soon for all my loyal readers."

[Random employee2]: "Ok boss will do we cant wait to publish your next book."

As he said that kakashi left for home to train some more.

EARTH CLAN – HOUSE OF THE HEULFRYNS - THEOR 145

She violently slammed the table, not even wanting to look at this husband of hers.

"And you think that I'll accept that? Do you know everything I would have to sacrifice?"

"I know, but can't you do this for me, and them?"

"For them certainly not! And for you I would do much, but you won't let me!"

It was his turn to get angry. "He's my brother! How many times must I tell you this, I won't let it happen!"

"So why should I help you, then?"

"Don't tell me you'll use innocent children's lives, just so I let you commit murder! Do you even have a heart? Very well… If you want a reason, what do you think would happen if I told the Inquisition about the situation?"

She grinned and chuckled. "You wouldn't do that. What would you even win out of it? You'd be the first to die and they would follow before I do, and your other two children with all of us."

"…"

"I told you being a man of principles would not always help you."

"And if I bring them here without your consent, would you have a choice then?"

Her face turned cold. "Probably not. But remember, you've broken your most holy vow toward me and – most importantly – toward Kmir. Don't think I'd feel guilty to break a small promise I once did to you."

He took his head into his hands. He knew that what he did was wrong from the Church's point of view. However, he did not see this rule this clearly in the holy texts. A lot of passages about blood and its importance, but… He sighted. He knew he was just searching excuses for himself.

Now was not the time for theological debates. He could not let her… It was his elder and most dear brother's life that was at stake! All this for power, it angered him so much. How could he have married her? … Right, his father. He could not let her but… when he thought about this little girl smiling at him… and the new baby born…

"Fine. Do whatever you want."

WIND CLAN – SOMEWHERE IN THE NORTH - ALDIR 147

Astrid was now eight years old and Lin, ten. During these years, they slept in the same bed, listened to the same stories, invented their own. They spent their days working hard next to each other and their evenings laughing together.

Lin never talked on her own about the water clan but answered all the questions Astrid sometimes had. Thus Astrid learned about the wood houses high over the ground, large and flat, the rivers, hills, their cult of knowledge, their daily habits, the utmost importance of loyalty to brothers, sisters and cousins.

Every time she asked Lin about her family, the latter turned quiet. When she talked about her parents, it was always polite but short and distant. However, whenever she talked about her eldest brother Vlad, her eyes lit up briefly, and she said much more, thought she always seemed to be on the verge of crying toward the end. Astrid just assumed she missed them, so she told her to be strong, that she would visit them in a while, and should not be puerile and cry. Lin always nodded at these words, but never looked truly comforted.

One day, she came to Astrid, running wild, panting but all smiles.

"Astrid!! There's something that I absolutely must tell you! Grandfather announced me something!"
Astrid was quite surprised.

"You had a meeting with grandpa? It should be an important mission, or maybe news from your family?"

"Nope! But it's great news! Well… at least it is something very meaningful to me."

She paused, her eyes turning more serious.

"Astrid… I want you to understand why it is so important to me, so I would have to explain… I wanted to tell you this for a while, but I was not allowed to.

I asked for grandfather's approval today. He hesitated but said it would be fine. Only, you really, really mustn't tell anyone, even your father doesn't know."

Astrid's eyes sparkled. Finally, there would be no secret between her and her Lini!"

"I promise you! What is good news for you is good news for me! I will be the guardian of your secret, as the future chief of the noble Hansen tribe!"

"Thank you, I knew I could trust you."

The caravans were stopped for now. Her parents were trading with another family. Astrid was sitting on a carriage, watching over it. Lin came sitting with her. Her voice was even softer and quieter than usual, she sighted, summoned up her courage, and started to explain.

"If I came here three years ago, it's because… my family was slaughtered. Everyone. My parents, grandparents, my four sisters, three brothers. My eldest brother was not at home that day. I hope with all my heart that he's alive but… I don't think so. They surely found him that night, or... or he killed himself.

If I survived, it's because they missed the heart by a few inches, they did not touch any vital point. I used all my energy to cover myself with my younger sisters' blood, and to stay awake without moving. When they came back to check on me after killing my parents, it was enough to convince them.

They left, probably to search for Vlad, I don't know. I waited for so long. Then, our butler found me. He used magic to heal me and took me out of there. Said they would come back to burn everything. He also told me I was the last one.

I don't know for sure who they were and why they came. Their faces were engraved in my mind, but they were probably just mercenaries. Some enemies of my family, or earth clan's people. The great war had ended only two years prior, so revenge was a daily matter.

The butler sent me here, as the wind clan and water clan are allies since the Origin, since we share the same parents, Sofiia and Aldir. I could not stay there. We have no idea who did it, and they would go back to cover their traces if they found out I'm alive."

She had tried to keep her voice in check and her face emotionless, but the pain was vivid in her eyes. "Do you understand? I can't ever go back. You're my family. My one and only family."

Astrid was so shocked she could not speak for a while. Tears came to her eyes, but she kept them inside, not wanting to make Lin uncomfortable. She took her into her arms. There were no words that could be said, she could only let her know she was there for her.

So many questions filled her mind. Why all this hate? Why were there still wars? Why did Lini have to live through this? She whispered to her ear: "I'm so sorry for all the questions I asked about your past… You'll always have a family here, not matter what happens, even if we travel all the time. You'll always have a family."

Lin hugged her for a few minutes, then let go. He eyes were a bit wet but not red. She smiled.

"Now for the piece of news. You'll understand why it's so great. Grandfather will… adopt me as his own granddaughter!!
He'll put me in the register in the next clan meeting, the Elders council should accept! I'll be put as a war orphan. I'll even get a role! They won't be able to tattoo it to me, but it will still be official all the same. I'm so happy, Astrid!"

"It's great!"

She truly felt overjoyed for her, but, at the same time, a doubt filled her heart. If Lin became her sister, she would become her older sister. Didn't that mean that Lin would be the next chief, then? Would she be replaced just like that? She tried to articulate something.

"But… You… I… Did grandpa… Hum, will you be sitting next to dad and grandpa in the next clan council then?"

Her hands began shaking, so she hid them. She looked straightforward, mentally preparing herself to be replaced, retrograded.

Lin looked at her, startled. Then she seemed to understand as she blinked her eyes with an air of surprise.

"Astrid…
No, don't ever worry about that! Official member of the family, but never an official member of the clan, that would never be allowed. I'll have the same responsibilities and will be judged under the same laws, but… my status will always be different, I'll always be a stranger.
When you'll be chief, I'll be your most loyal subordinate and your best counselor!"

"Lin, why are you giving such importance to blood? We are free people! Why should blood shackle us to some land or law?"

Lin always had this kind of speech Astrid did not understand. To any outsider, she had become a proper wind girl. She knew everything there was to know. She was full of life, always passionate about everything, hard-working, she knew her chores, and every small detail of the camp's functioning.

However, she still could not make free of the chains that hold her. They were so tight on her, Astrid did not know how to free her.

"You'll be part of my family, you'll be my elder sister, why the fuss with the details?
If you're worthier than me, it would be absurd to refuse you for your eye color or blood.
You're much smarter than I am, so who knows…"

Considerably calmer, she took Lin's right hand and put it on her heart. She saw adults do that in meaningful moment, or when they were to tell a confession.

"However, thank you for your loyalty. No matter what happens, we'll stay one for the other without fail. We complement each other."

"Un, whatever may happen!"

Then, she stood on her feet, laughed a little and spun.

"So? What do you think my role will be?"

"Well… You're as good as mum for calculations and counting money, so you'd be a great Gold Master. Or else…"

Astrid suddenly realized something. She became so excited that she was not able to stay put, eyes wide open and filled with stars.

"Tales Master, Lini!! Tales Master!

You're so good at remembering things and you already know more stories than most of the adults! I've heard you tell them, you have so much talent!!"

"What? No I don't have any special talent, it's your stories, Astrid. They're… they're just so…
I always liked reading, but in the water clan we read the Holy Texts, the Morals, academic subjects. Here…"

Her eyes lit up as she spoke faster and faster.
"Your legends, your stories, they're so beautiful! So well written! I mean, it's full of magic, adventures, romance, epic battles... The faces of the children when they ask me to tell them what happens next! However, at the same time, they contain lessons, as many as the Morals of the water clan do, so that adults discuss them and children assimilate them without even realizing it! Every bit is so fascinating!"

She then lost Astrid while doing a short analysis of one of her favorite tales.

"It's true that if I could spend my days learning them, passing them to the next generation …
But Tales Master are so rare. And the Hansen are nobles of the second circle, they're one of the most important family of the clan. The role I'll have will be for the clan, so they won't let me…
Most people are Land Masters, I'll be that too for sure…
How could they let a stranger share our culture?
... Your. Your culture, I have to stop dreaming."

She then smiled again.

"No, I can't whine like that! I'm already so lucky, I can't ask for more!"

Astrid knew this smile. In all these years, Lin never stopped smiling. She always had this sometimes soft, sometimes bright smile. Everyone thought she was just happy all the time, but Astrid knew better. She was the only one to know when Lin's smile was not a real one.

It was the same issue over and over again: despite being a girl of the wind in every aspect of practical life, she still talked so much about laws, rules. She did not know what it was to be free, truly free. She would not even dare to imagine what it was like.

"Master of Land, you? Ha! Nope, you might be better with your hands now than your weaklings of the water clan, but you're not good enough for any of the Land Masters responsibilities. And even if you were, that would be such a loss! You're so good at listening, counselling...

And also, Grandpa will a-do-pt you! If the Grand council refuses, then… then… then they're all idiots, na! Plus it would be so unjust!
You want to be a Tales Master? Then as a girl of the wind, do it! Fly where your desires lie!"

"Astrid... You haven't seen any strangers besides me in the wind clan, ever. Do you know why?"

"Well, we travel all the time and other clans don't like that... Once, I've heard uncle Ösil say that they are jealous of our freedom, something like that.
But if all other clans' members are as nice as you are, there's no reason for them not to come."

"That might be one of the reasons. You're the clan with the fewest strangers passing by, most likely also because you have no academy or school. However, if no one comes to live here or marry one of yours is because it is forbidden to mix between clans. Even living together is not considered good. To travel or study, it is perfectly okay, but settling oneself in another clan is really difficult. And having children with someone who is not of the same clan is strictly forbidden. The parents are killed by the Inquisition as soon as it is found out, and the child or children with them.

The only reason I am not looked down upon and bullied here is because of the importance you give to freedom, and grandfather's protection, but still. The adults will always see me as a stranger. On this earth, blood is the law, whether you want to believe it or not, Astrid.

That is why I worry that they won't accept me as a Tales Master, and that is why I know I won't ever take your place. I won't ever be able to have an offspring either."

"But that's awful!! Why can't we marry whoever we want, who said that?!"

She could not fathom why. She was suddenly so sad.

"But... you're my sister, this is our family, our tribe, our clan, yours and mine! Adults can't take away our freedom like that!
We'll find a way! If the adults say no, we'll find a way so they say yes. I sometimes am able to do that with mum and dad, maybe I can with others, too."

"Have you ever heard of Kmir, Astrid?"

"Kmir? I've heard of it but I only remember the outlines. Why?"
"In my clan, and in all the others, actually, and in the Capital, also, listening to Kmir and following the Holy Texts is more important than anything else. There's a King and a Queen, but the Order, that means the Clergy and Inquisition, are the real rulers.
And, the Order says that having children between two different clans people is blasphemous, one of the worst crime on this earth. This, along with worshiping Chaos or the Old Spirits, and practicing black magic, are know as the three great crimes. If there is proof, an inquisitor can execute you without a trial ! That's why. The people who said that aren't ones you can offend, Astrid. As long as you stay here, say whatever you want, but outside...."

"Humph, if it's like that, I'll become the queen of freeeeeedom!! And I'll be more powerful than all the bad people!!"

Lin frowned. Hearing Astrid speak like that made her worried. She tried one last time to reason with her. "You know, outside, everyone seeks power more than anything. To them, a queen of freedom would be weak."

"Power is not anything important! When mum reads stories to me, the one who wins is not the most powerful but the most brave and righteous! Power just binds you to the ground, it doesn't make you accomplish as many things as freedom!"

She got out of the carriage and told her: "I'll go see Grandpa and ask him! Don't worry, Lini, if he doesn't listen to me, I'll go ask the Grand council directly!"

She felt so adult right now. However, she knew it was not as easy as that. She was not going to talk with Grandpa, but with the chief of the Hansen Tribe, one of the chiefs of the wind. She had to be careful.
She refused to see a smile like that on Lini's face ever again!

Finally, Lin smiled and let go. She liked seeing her so carefree. She was still a child after all. The age she herself was when the tragedy happened. She was glad Astrid wasn't forced to mature as quickly as her. "Thank you. From the bottom of my heart. However… if you agree, let me talk to Grandfather directly.
You're right, if I want to be accepted as a girl of the wind, I have to start acting like one, and fight my own fights!"

With her braided hair flying around her and her body emanating all her determination, no one could ever call her a stranger.

It was before noon when Hikaru woke up. He was parched. People didn't seem to visit the graveyard as it was awfully quiet. It was a clear and sunny day.

There was a well nearby. With a bucket, Hikaru fetched some water from below and drank. His thirst was quenched, but this time his stomach grumbled. Rubbing his belly, he thought, What do I do now? I'm broke. Anything I can sell… my clothes? No, it has blood on it.

He took off his shirt to wash it, but it only turned into a shirt with holes and a brown stain.

「So cold…」

He didn't have time to dry out his clothes so he wore them wet. He thought about his next move.

1. Earn money.
2. Run without being suspected of Count Morgstad's murder.

These two are my top priority. He searched Roland's memories for ways to make money.

「Hmm?」

Roland's memories were more blurry than yesterday. The knowledge was there, but the things Roland learned from experience, what he felt, his precious memories were fading. It felt like some stranger's experience that Hikaru heard from rumors. He felt Roland gradually leaving his body.

「…Anyway, I just have to live on.」

As he searched through the memories, Hikaru hit upon something. Making a Soul Card. It sounded similar to his Skill Soul Board, but to put it simply, the Soul Card was an ID. The Adventurers' Guild, Merchants' Guild, and the Alchemists' Guild issue Guild Cards while a temple issued a Soul Card. Both had slightly different features and uses, but they served as IDs all the same.

「The Adventurers Guild it is.」


The Adventurers' Guild issued Guild Cards for free if you were a first-timer. The other guilds asked for processing fees. It didn't cost much, but Hikaru was flat broke.

「Where's the Adventurers' Guild anyway?」

Its location was not in Roland's memories. Hikaru left the graveyard and made his way into town. Spotting a guard on patrol, he turned a corner and ended up in a back alley. He had his Stealth Skill, but now was not the time to test its effectiveness. I'll test it out somewhere else.

It was getting more desolate as Hikaru moved farther and farther from the main street. Up ahead was a girl with a chalk, drawing something on alley walls.

「Here goes.」

I gotta do this. A suspicious guy talking to a young girl was a cause for concern. Hikaru was still young, though.

「Excuse me.」

Startled by Hikaru's strange appearance, the girl started trembling. It was probably the soiled and battered clothes, yet somehow still retaining the image of a noble that scared her.

「It's all right. I just want to ask for directions. Which way is the Adventurers' Guild?」

「Do you want to go to the Adventurers' Guild, Mister?」

「Yeah.」

That seemed to be enough for the girl as she started talking.

「Well… you go straight down the alley, and you'll end up on the main street. Cross it and go straight down a back alley, and you'll be on the main street again. Turn right from there and after about five minutes of walking, you'll see the Adventurers' Guild.」

「Got it. I'd like to thank you somehow but I got nothing with me.」

「That's okay! You can repay me when you hit it big!」

「…Okay.」

What a lively young girl.

The Adventurers' Guild was a massive stone-made building. Laughter and rough voices from brawny men rolled from within. There were women as well, though some were muscular and some wore grim expressions on their faces. Not your ordinary women. A few parties of young boys and girls were there too, but they were mostly made fun of by the adults.

Only one receptionist sat behind the guild counter. She wore a small, white hat, silver around the edges and a uniform that matched. A long skirt, and a coat that closed in front, with sleeves that grew wider. Quite a strange outfit. She was a beauty with short red hair and slightly tense features. She looked to be less than twenty years old.

The lady was working, processing quests, while dealing with men asking her out on a date.

「Hmm.」

Not one adventurer noticed Hikaru with his Stealth Skill active. No one said something like "What's this? Since when did the adventurers' guild become a kids' playground?". Without any Skills useful in combat, it was better not to get involved in any mess.

The men formed a semi-circle around the receptionist. Left and right, people were talking to her as she did her job with an indifferent air. But there were always ten men who kept on asking her out. In order to accept or clear a quest, one would have to wedge themselves in.

「I found a really great place the other day…」

「You're single, right, Jill? Just one time, please! Let's have dinner one time!」

「Can you make me a guild card?」

With Stealth active, Hikaru weaved through the adventurers all the way to the front then deactivated his Skill.

「What the?!」

「The hell is this kid doing here?! Where'd he come from?!」

The eyes of the receptionist – whose name was apparently Jill – went wide with surprise as well.

「Ah, um, well…」

「Please make me a guild card.」Hikaru said once more.

「The fuck are you saying, stupid brat?!」

「Damn brat! Get in line and wait for your turn!」

「You guys weren't standing in line. I simply asked the guild's receptionist to do a legitimate task for me. Besides, you can still invite her to dinner while she works on the guild card, can't you?」

「Why you…」

One adventurer's face went red. They weren't stupid enough to start a fight right here, however.

「Hey.」

「…Yeah.」


They exchanged glances and left the building in groups.

Hmm. So they're going to gang up on me as soon as I leave the guild. So predictable. There was none left at the counter except Hikaru.
The receptionist heaved a sigh before speaking.

「Listen here. I don't know where you're from, Sir, but you should apologize later. They might spare your life if you give them some money.」she said, appalled.

Sir? Maybe it's the clothes.

「So a guild staff is just going to sit there and do nothing even though its members are about to extort money out of someone?」

「…What?」

「I'm saying you're neglecting your duty. This organization is a joke I suppose, given they're ignoring potential criminals.」

「What was that?!」

She most likely didn't expect a rebuttal. Jill raised her voice, her gaze filled with anger.

「You want to make an enemy of the Adventurers' Guild?」

「I see. Even the staff resorts to threats.」

「I'm not threatening you. This is simply a warning…」

「Just make me a guild card already. You have to if someone asks, am I correct?」

She was silent, her gaze sharp.

What a waste of her beauty, Hikaru thought, his face calm and composed.

「All right, I'll issue you a guild card. Place your hand here.」

She held out a smooth stone board. Its surface seemed to be made of glass with various geometric shapes and ancient writings on the screen. It was similar to the Soul Board, though unrefined. What surprised Hikaru was something else entirely.

Roland was researching this…

The device was connected to the same network as the temples' Soul Card and reads a Soul's Records. Hikaru placed his palm on top. For a second, it seemed as though light shimmered beyond the screen.

「Hmm. It looks like you haven't been issued a card before.」

Jill fiddled with the device. Phew. It would've been all over if Roland already had a record. Then again, it was called a Soul's Records. As such, Hikaru thought his and Roland's would be different.

「That's correct.」


The whole process didn't take long and my card was ready.

He couldn't find it in Roland's memories. It seemed Roland didn't deal much with adventurers.

The receptionist heaved a deep sigh.

「I don't really want to explain, but rules are rules so I have no choice.」

She grudgingly started explaining.

「Try touching the card with your finger. A list of possible classes for you will appear based on your Soul's Records. By choosing one, your abilities will be boosted. It's usually a few characters that end with the word "god" followed by a title. The shorter the name, the greater the abilities' boost. Three characters and below are ultra-rare, with one character being mythical. Even four-character classes are enough for you to be a top-class adventurer. Soul cards and other guild cards have them too.」

Hikaru placed his finger on the card and there appeared a list.

「In your case, it would be『City, Town, and Village People Rescue God: Civilian』or 『Wealthy City and Townspeople Rescue God: Money Worker』or something of the sorts. Am I right?」
