Just an idea I had, feel free to build off it!

This was the last week of June, it was time for the end of the first school semester.
This meant Exams.
The students were already used to their notebooks and pens. It was way better and cleaner than using slateboards and chalk.
Landon had given all the children below ages 15: 4 empty notebooks, 3 eraser pencils and 7 pens (2 blue, 2 black, 2 red and 1 green).
If they needed more, their parents were to buy it for them. And those who were orphans, could take them free of charge from the school canteen.
The adults who took classes were required to buy their own textbooks as well. Afterall, they all worked and the books and pens were cheap.
9 pens cost 5 copper coins, 9 pencils cost 5 copper, while 1 book cost 3 copper coins.
The teachers still used chalk of course.
With these books, the students could go home and revise their lessons.
For those that came to school in the middle of the semester, they would only be given tests on what they know so far.
But within the 1 month break, it was compulsory for them to take make up classes, so as to catch up with the rest for the next semester.
Those that couldn't catch up would repeat their classes on the next semester. While those that passed would move on ahead to the next phase.
All they had been learning so far were language and math. Now, it was time to introduce them into the world of Chemistry.
Of course it wasnt intense chemistry, just the basics.
With the basics, they could go about and have assignments like science projects and so on.
Those that passed and did well, would advance and take Math 3, Language 2 and Chemistry 1.
Today, the little princess Linda, from Yodan empire was taking the final exam for the semester.
Back at Yodan, 9 year old Linda was ignored and bullied most of the time.
Since she wasn't a favoured princess, the maids, servants and even her teachers looked down on her. The only people who cared for her, were her mother Winnie and brother Beri.
She would cry daily and sometimes even feel like she was trapped, with no where to go.
But ever since she came to Baymard, the people were nice and she could finally go to school with other children who were very humble.
And for some reason, the food tasted better here as well.
Landon would come to her school and read amazing stories to her and the other children. She even played on the metal swing and something called a slide.
The little princess was very happy.
She loved everyone, even the funny grandpa Willow. He would always put flowers on her hair and push her on the garden swing (yet, he gave trouble to Landon for plucking Tulips).

Linda sat in the large classroom nervously.
Although she had math teachers and language teachers back in Yodan, she had realized that Baymard's educational system was different.
It was way better and more detailed. Plus she loved her rainbow painted exercise books, pencils and pens, which were much better and simpler to use.
For the tests, she liked that they were evenly spaced throughout the week, giving her more time to read at home.
The moment of truth had come.
The teacher placed a sheet of paper face-down in front of her.
Today, she was taking her first exam... Math 1.
Once all the papers were shared, Grace signaled for them to start.
Somewhere in another classroom, Linda's mother Winnie, Kim and Lucy, were also giving out the same exam.
Today was meant for math 1. So even if they weren't teaching it, they had to help supervise the exams as well.
All tests had different sections within them. Some of the sections in Math 1 and math 2 were similar to one another, but not actually the same.
Math 1 had 7 seven sections:
•15%: Additions
•15%: Subtractions
•15%: Playing with operations (using + or -)
•10%: Number writing
•15%: Word problems (using only + or -)
•15%: Measuring Length (using only + or -)
•15%: Measuring Time(using only + or -)
Linda looked through the section titled 'Addition' and began.
First question: 145 + 74 =? (show rough work)
She immediately started using her fingers and even showed the carry over process on the paper.
The more she answered, the more confident she became.
Time went on and she arrived at the 'Playing with operations (using only + or -)' part.
>Question: Achieve the result 20, by using the numbers: 2, 6 and 4, as many times as you like.
He looked at the question and her eyes lit up.
'6 plus 4 is 10, 10 plus 4 is 15....no no no!! its 14..' she thought.
Just like that, she completed that section.
Now, it was time for 'word problems'.
Question: There are 67 bird families living near the mountain. If 32 bird families flew away for winter, how many are left near the mountain?
She immediately started writing the main points, as she was taught in class.
'67 bird families.... flew away..... 32 bird families..... ahhh!! this is a subtraction.. this is taking away' she exclaimed inwardly as she immediately did the subtractions.
When she was at the last section, Grace kindly reminded them to drop their pens, pencils and papers.
She was currently in the last section and had 3 questions left to answer. She couldn't help but curse the 6th section for slowing her down.
All in all, she felt like she was going to do very well in the exam.
After the exam, she discussed her answer with some of her friends.
"Did you guys succeed in finishing the exam?"
"Ahh!!! I only had 1 question left, and then they took away for paper"
"Woo woo.... I'm not sure I did well"
"Don't cry, who can say that we will all pass?"
"Yeah plus there's still make up classes during the break."
"Don't forget that if you do well in Math 2 and Pyron 1, you will still advance."
"We have to study hard for the next tests"
"Ahh!!! Question 5 in section 4 was very confusing"
"It was definitely a trap"

And just like that, the Math 1 exam had officially come to an end.
Two days later, the exam for Math 2 began.
The Exam had 8 sections:
•12%: Multiplication tables
•12%: Multiplication
•12%: Divisions
•12%: Playing with operations (using × or ÷)
•10%: Number writing
•14%: Measuring length (using only × or ÷)
•14%: Measuring Weight (using only × or ÷)
•14%: Measuring Time. (using only × or ÷)
Under, the section titled: Multiplication tables, Linda moved like lighting.
Question: 3 × 7 = ?
And under the Multiplication section, Linda still felt it was easy.
Question: 727 × 4= ?
Moving forward, Linda realised that she had spend too much time with the Section 'number writing'.
Question: Write Nine thousand four hundred and sixty-one, in numbers.
'Thousand..thousand... Ahhh!!.. its 1000.. but since its 9, then its 9000...'
She also spent time doing the measuring length, weight and time sections.
Question: 2 m = ? cm
Question: 20 kg = ? g
Question: 9 hrs 45 min = ? min

.
Once again, she was unable to finish her exam on time.
Was it a curse for her to never to finish on time?
She quickly went home and started practicing her pre-tenses, present tenses and so on, for her Pyron exam.
All the people in Pyno spoke 1 language, so the language spoken in Yodan was the same as that in Arcadina.
Another 2 days passed and it was time for her final exam.
Pyron 1 was divided into sections:
•18%: Nouns, verbs, adjectives and pronouns
•18%: All Tenses: Present, past, simple.. etc
•9%:   Writing numbers into words
•15%: Prepositions
•20%: Choose correct/ Incorrect sentences
•20%: Choose complete/Incomplete sentences.
Linda kept seeing questions like;
Question: choose whether the following sentence is a simple or compound sentence.
Question: Which sentence shows the proper use of a noun?
Question: Write 109 in words.
Question: Which is not a complete sentence?
Question: Identify the adverb in the sentence
For her, language was easy compared to math. So for the first time ever, she had successfully finished all the questions for the exam. She even had 10 minutes to spare, so she decided to go over her work once more.
Once the exam papers were collected, she truly felt free as a bird. She had never had this type of feeling before.
She began discussing with her friend on what they would do with this 1 month vacation.
She had been told that the exams would be posted on the 12th day of July.
Also, the next semester was going to start in August.
 So for the entire month of July, she would hopefully have no school.
To be honest, she didn't want to spend the entire July doing makeup classes. That's why she earnestly prayed that her results would be atleast alright to take her to the next stage.
She had been so stressed during this exam period, that she didn't even care how her hair looked like when she left the house early this morning.
Her mom wanted to fix it, but she refused as she needed to use all her time for studying.
She looked at her mom as if saying: 'Mom, my holiday is at stake here and your worried about my hair?'
Right now, she didn't even want to see a single book, atleast until august.
'Finally, No more exams'

Greetings to all my readers, I wish to say something to you.

Firstly, I want to apologise to all of you. All those who have found this fanfic to be enjoyable, I truly apologise to you for not so inconsistent in writing the chapters of this fanfic or responding to you all. There have been multiple reasons for why I was inconsistent but it doesn't change the fact. I hope you forgive me.

Honestly speaking, I had started writing this fanfic with nothing concrete in my mind. I was just fed up of fanfic in those days that I felt that I must write something better than fanfics with those pussy main characters and all. I didn't expect you all to like this much, however, much can be contributed to the fact that it was one of the first Against the Gods Fanfic here. Nevertheless, I am very glad for all the support you have shown me.

Even before I had started writing this fanfic, I had been writing a novel. It isn't a lewd novel I guess haha... It's something I have been working on since 2-3 years. Its outlook is also not like that of an official novel but still, I have done all I can do alone, writing the novel, editing it and everything. Some friends helped me, but eventually, I completed it by myself.

I am from India, and in 3rd year of my Engineering. I guess I found my passion too late as I had already joined the college and wanted to graduate before working actively in the writing field. However, near the end of my first year, I had already started writing this Fanfic. Perhaps it was because of my lust of popularity or because I also wanted to write a Douluo Dalu fanfic, I started writing about it too. I guess I chewed off more than I could bite. Writing three novels at the same time was far too taxing. Especially when I had to give out regular chapters. I even started using p.atreon to collect money for advance chapters because I wanted to prove to my parents that I could earn through writing as well. My parents were convinced but I was seriously exhausted after a month or two. I couldn't go anywhere and spent all my time on discord or writing.

After that, I was interested in a girl I met online. She was from the same country as me. I was infatuated with her. The time talking to her was so relaxing that I slowly found myself getting out of writing. I slowly reduced my time in writing and started to talk with her more. However, she soon found someone else she liked so I got a little angry. We had a quarrel and I was pretty much pathetically depressed. I know I was in the wrong but I still couldn't control my emotions at that time. I was quite pathetic, I guess. Haha...

Anyway, I am out of depression. I had started watching animes again because of a bit of my free time and study for engineering. (I pretty much failed in quite a few subjects in a few semesters so I had to reappear in those exams again. Had to study all that too...) In a bit of my free time, I read some novels. I tried to improve my writing style and felt that it has improved a lot. During that time, I kept my mind focused on my main novel and kept everything aside. I just wrote something now and then for fun. It was to try out whether it would look appropriate in my main novel or not.

I have said it before but I guess I will say it again, I wish to turn this story into a manga story. I know I am not from Japan, it's probably a little preposterous for me to think of making manga and publishing it. Even after that, I have little hope of gaining popularity. However, I still want to make a manga. I am going to hire an artist and discuss a long term plan with him to ensure that it would come to reality even if it costs me a lot.

Currently, I have released my novel on the Kindle (Amazon), I won't say you must buy it. In fact, I urge you not to buy it if you do not like it. That will be your own decision. I just want you to read the free preview available on kindle, just tell me if you like it or not. I just want to know a bit of your viewpoint if you will like the story or not... I haven't asked anyone known to me to review the novel because the first few reviews I wish for are the true reviews. I just want to know whether my story is worth reading or not and let you be the judge of this fact.

Next day 

Nishant got up a little late as the classes did not start until 10am that day. He slowly got ready and came out for breakfast. Sheela was doing something in the kitchen when Nishant entered. 

"Amma, you did not wake me up today! You always bang on my door when I sleep till 8. But what happened today?" 

Sheela continued her work as though she did not hear Nishant. 

"Are you still angry?" Nishant asked her as he hugged her. "My darling amma, you can't stay angry with your only son you know!" 

Sheela struggled out of his hug and gave him a nasty look. 

"Don't try to play nice. You are an adult now and you don't need your mother anymore. Why don't you ask your Shradha to wake you up in the morning. " 

"Oh come on amma. Not again! Won't you give some nice food for your hungry son. I am late for college. " 

"There is upma on the dining table. Take and eat." Sheela ignored Nishant again. 

"Upma!!?? Why amma.. you know I hate upma." Nishant started complaining. 

"This is what you are getting. Eat if you want or feel free to go out for breakfast. After all you can take decisions on your own." Sheela did not leave any chance to use Nishant's own words against him. 

"You know you are acting like a child right now. Fine, I tried my best. You do whatever you want and I will also do the same."

Nishant ate breakfast with great difficulty and left for college, leaving irritated mother behind. 

In the Evening: 

Shradha was waiting for Nishant at their usual place in the campus. She had been thinking about their relationship since yesterday and she felt the need to speak to Nishant about her thoughts. He was at Lit club meeting and it was almost time for the meeting to get over. Soon Nishant walked towards Shradha with a big smile. 

"Have you been waiting for a long time? I thought you will take time to finish your work in the lab." 

"No. I came only few minutes back. How was the meeting? " 

"Oh ok. Meeting was good. They give me some more articles to write. The seniors were planning to host a short story writing competition and they wanted me to participate. They said next year I will be organizing most of these events and I wont get a chance to participate. So they told me to register for all the events this year. And also they told me that my writing has gotten so much better in just a few months. So they want me to try fiction writing. I think I need to start thinking about story ideas now." 

"Wow, that's great. You seem really happy." 

"I am really excited! I never thought I would be the writer type of guy, but here I am enjoying writing and thinking of inspirations and ideas!"

"Yea. I also never thought I would be one of those students who use lab after classes and work on personal projects! But here I am, thinking about learning more about coding !" 

"I know right! We both changed a lot! A lot of people believe that it's because of our friendship, including my mom."

Shradha was surprised to hear that. "Your mom?"

"Yea. But she thinks we are more than friends and your influence on me is quite strong. Hahaha I don't know what to tell her! She was even saying that she doesn't want you as daughter-in-law." Nishant started laughing thinking about his mother's words. He  explained what had happened at home yesterday. 

Shradha felt that this was the right time to bring up the topic that had been bothering her.

He was her sole source of energy; He was the only person who could sense her emotional distress and calm her down easily. He was her best friend, her guide, and also whoever she wanted him to be. To Nishant, Shradha was like a breath of fresh air. She always pushed him beyond his comfort level and helped him rediscover himself. She was his strength and also his weakness. 

Shradha was the girl who was considered as ‘bad influence’, while Nishant was the ‘good guy’, who was role model to many students and even parents. They had nothing in common except for the fact that both of them were lonely and maybe a little broken. 

Nishant and Shradha came together by coincidence. Their relationship started with simple friendship, which slowly grew into strong bond. He could show his silliness only in front of her while she could afford to show her real self only to him. Despite constant opposition from their family, Shradha and Nishant had continued to be ‘best friends’ and nothing else. 
They were each others ‘first’ in many things and even when the whole world could see how they were already in relationship, Nishant and Shradha could not see the obvious.
When they finally realized they have been in love the whole time, all it took was changing the status on social media.

Shiksha Jerath: And then the fourth year I feel so ill that I skipped school for a full 20 days.

Sleepteddy: I only started skipping after i was sure my mother wouldn't get wind of it.

Shiksha Jerath: Haha. Na I only ever skipped a handful of lectures whole I was doing my bachelors and masters. Though in college none of the proofs paid much attention to it but I was a goody goody two shoes.

Hello! Good day/eve to all of you. It's time for me to say my excuses for not updating WWCG for a long time. 

*cough cough*

Well, the first reason is because I joined a writing prompt contest and I don't trust myself "not to advertise and ask for votes" here in WWCG. 

After the contest ended… I did a bit of soul searching. I asked myself, what do I really want to do? My answer was simple. I want to be a better writer.

I then decided to take a one month break from writing WWCG and focus on reading reference books on how to "properly write" a story. I learned a lot, and after reading all those resource materials, I came to the realization that my writing style was "trashier" than I initially expected.

It hurts, but it was the truth. I'm currently changing my writing style to make it more "proper", but it's hard when old habits kick in. However, all was not wasted. I don't need to compare myself to others, because I know that doing so will only make me feel inferior.

I've re-read my first few chapters and cringed. Then I read more and cringed more to the point that I realized how much I improved. *AHEM!*

New authors focus more on getting views, comments, reviews, and collections. They set their expectations and when these "expectations" are not met… they feel bad. 

Sometimes, it gets to the point that they drop/abandon their story altogether. There is no right or wrong way on how to do this. I still don't have the qualifications to teach you on how you can increase your views, comments, and collections.

Still, I think that improving yourself is much more "fulfilling" than mere wish fulfillment. I'm going to share with all of you the tools I've learned from this one month of Soul Searching and if you really want to improve, please do try these resource materials.

Murakami gave me this Epub file called "Descriptions - Monica Wood." It covers a lot of things and for new authors, this is a powerful tool that will help you understand some of the things that "you don't know that you don't know." You can read this file by installing Epub Reader on your devices or desktop.

Another advice for discovery writers. I am, or rather was a discovery writer. I understand the fun of discovery writing, but also understood its limitations. Writing blindly, a chapter day after day , even if you have some sort of idea where the story is headed will only lead to a WALL/BLOCK in the long run.

Please, don't argue with me for now and continue to read. Even if you had the story laid out on your head, it still won't make your story coherent and the foundations you think you have is non-existent.

So, the next resource material that I am going to share with you is how to "plot your story/outline very fast." Don't underestimate this resource material, because it may be the answer to ALL OF YOUR PLOTTING/OUTLINING PROBLEMS. 

This technique was so effective that I was able to plot my 2 novels in less than an hour. Hah? You think I'm joking? A friend of mine also thought the same, but when I gave him this reference material all he was able to say was "Paternal Grandmother…"

Without further ado, go to "Youtube" and search for "How to Plot Your Novel FAST by Ellen Brock." Please, watch until the end of the video. Trust me, you won't regret it!

Ellen Brock is an editor and her advice when it comes to story writing may come in handy.

If you think, you're good enough already feel free to ignore these reference materials. However, if you want to improve, for yourself and not for other people then by all means give these resources a chance.

I may not be able to update WWCG on a regular basis, because I'm still learning and looking for better resource materials that will help my growth as a writer. If I find anything noteworthy, I will also share these materials with you. 

Even with all the things I learned and currently learning; I decided not to edit the first few chapters of WWCG. I want it to serve as a lesson to me, and a constant reminder that everything starts with the first step. No matter how small, silly, inexperienced, clumsy it may be, the first step must be taken in order to move forward.

Wow... Cool breezes brushed my skin it feels like I need to snooze further because of all winters period it's extremely difficult to wake early in the morning,

When the children had finished eating the bread, they all made their way to sit in an orderly fashion. Such was how children sat down in classes to learn. They were mindful of how much space there was between their peers. Each one of them properly spaced out, without any tools of measurement, they all did this as if they already knew.

Xue'er did not join them. She silently exited the police bureau, finding a place no one would notice, she jumped on to one of the rooftops to observe.

No one noticed that a freeloading kid was missing anyway, after all, that meant there was more food available for the others.

Her presence was very well hidden, such that there was not a soul that would be able to notice her. Well, she knew that Gan Tian Chi would be able to sense her, even with his eyes closed, but she had never met a person as strong as him before.

She would only be seen, if she wanted to, if not, then she would remain hidden, and not a single person would be able to sense her.

From the rooftops, she saw Li Shi putting up a large piece of rice paper to one of the walls, and some of her servants preparing a brush and some freshly ground ink onto a stone slab.

She wrote some characters on the large piece of paper, like a teacher writing in front of her students. Her handwriting was neat, with the in dispersion well spread out amongst her characters. She had an aura of a well-bred lady who grew up in a scholarly family, spending her days painting and writing poems. 

The children copied what was written with a stick on the dirt ground as they fervently listened to her explanations.

They seemed to be immersed in learning these new characters. After all, it was unlikely they would be able to learn to read and write in their lifetimes, as children at the bottom of society, this could be considered a good opportunity for them.

Xue'er looked at the words Li Shi was writing, she recognized them to be from the thousand character classic that she had memorized a long time ago.

To be fair, Xue'er was raised as a child from a scholarly family, her days were spent learning and filling her mind with knowledge, she was similar to those daughters of a noble family, in the sense that she spent her days reading and painting. She had also stayed at home for a long period of time. 

But she differed from them in the sense that she was allowed to have different ideas and also see things a noble lady would never be able to see.

Sure, it was a good foundation for future learning, but it took a long time to teach. One of the reasons why nobles had the right to learn, was because of one thing: Time.

They didn't need to work in the fields or help out with the family business, easily spending years upon years studying for the civil examinations which were in a way, sacred. These examinations that many devoted to studying, just so they may have a chance to increase their status in life.

There were some that failed that chance.

It wasn't because they did not study hard, but simply because of the circumstances they are in.

Most trips to the capital, where the once in a three-year exam is held, is very expensive, not to mention the travel fees to get there, one would also need food, and a place to sleep to be well rested before such an important exam.

To the wealthy, they would travel in the best styles, in a comfy carriage all the way to the capital. They would be served the best things and never be worried about a single thing, except studying.

Most of them actually found it to be torturous, skipping classes any time they could, not realizing how many would be willing to switch places with them, living a life free from worry of food and clothing.

Xue'er silently smiled as she watched this kind lady teach the children with all her heart. 

But, kind people were rare in this world, was what Gan Tian Chi told her once upon a time. She would never allow the first impression of someone's kindness or someone's cruelty to overrule how she saw a person.

The sun had begun to set in the town, and the once vibrant markets had slowly begun to set. The town had begun to grow deathly quiet as the shops boarded up their doors for the night.

Xue'er took this as a sign that she should most likely return back to the place where she would stay the night.

Back to the inn that was in the winding alleyway. On this night with only but half a moon in the sky, shrouded by dark clouds. The paths of the alleyway were barely visible to the human eye, the moon cast a barely discerning glow upon the broken cobblestone pathway that was dearly in need of a mason.

With the moving clouds above, one felt as if there were invisible shadows that moving about, serving as a reminder that there were ghosts and demons roaming around amongst the living.

In this place where all who had a home here would lock their doors tightly, in fear of the strangers getting in.

But, who would dare come here?

I'm sorry to say that I can't upload a chapter in a while. My AP classes are taking over my summer and I can't have this novel distracting me from my school work. It's a promise I gave to my parents when they saw me writing.

For those who want to drop the book, feel free. It's probably the smartest thing to do. Once school starts I won't be able to upload at all. My schedule is pretty much full.
