Twenty-three elves were quite a bit more than he thought Boppy would find, Chad thought he would return with only three or four. Still, the more, the merrier as they say. The only problem would be if he could bond them all.

"Umm, Boppy? Can I sustain bonds with all of them? Will I have enough magic?"

Boppy looked at his Master as if he had been dropped on his head, maybe that curse scar was affecting him more than he thought. Then again, his Master was still very young, he could not be expected to be smart all the time! Boppy would have to be the best head elf to help his Master be the greatest wizard ever!

"Master, there is no measurable amount of your magic. You don't start with ten magic and then use three magic to cast a spell. House-elves bond with a wizard so they can unlock their magic, and live. Free house-elves can only use basic elf magic to survive until they find a new master, if they don't, they slowly die. We don't take your magic, but you might feel tired afterwards because you are young, and multiple bonds will tax your mind."

Was Boppy perhaps a genius elf? Not only was his English pretty fluent, but he could articulate his thoughts quite well. Was Dobby just a moron? Or did the many blows to the head he received in punishments do lasting damage? Either way, smart minions were welcomed as far as Chad was concerned.

"I see, thanks for letting me know Boppy, you are a good head elf!" Praised Chad.

Twenty minutes later and he was surrounded by tearful, yet thrilled Potter house-elves. They were bouncing around excitedly, worshipping their new Master with a zealousness seen only in religious fanatics. Imagine the damage Muslim extremists could do with elf suicide bombers!

No, Chad would not be squandering such devoted servants with suicide attacks, even the foolish death eaters weren't that retarded. You would have to be insane to waste the devotion of your minions in such an absurd way. Surely they could just drop the bomb and walk away? Why have someone, that is so devoted to you that they are willing to die for you, kill themselves with your enemies?

Chad was pretty tired. The bonding process had been easy, but after a while, he felt like he needed to lay down for a sleep. Since he had nothing but time, he thought he might as well, nothing urgent needed his attention. But while he was napping, he would have the new elves catalogue everything in his vaults, better to be safe than sorry.

"Potter house-elves! My head elf Boppy has already explained that I have many enemies, so you will have to keep who you work for a secret. Tomorrow I will be revealing my future goals and how you, my house-elves, will help me achieve them. But for today, I need you to make a list of everything my three vaults contain. We won't know what is missing if we don't know what is there originally."

With a few more words of encouragement, Chad went to sleep.

The next morning, Boppy popped in to give him a report. It was surprisingly comprehensive and readable, who knew house-elves had such neat handwriting! Chad had to suffer through constant fussing over from Petunia after the elves left yesterday, he should have had them take him with them! Although he had to admit, she was a rather caring mother, if she didn't think you were a magical freak.

The list was a pleasant reminder of how things had already detoured from cannon. In the original Harry Potter, Dumbles had all three keys and access to two of them to fund his operations. The main Potter vault required a key and blood identification to open, so unless he brought Harry along, that had always been denied to him.

Still, Lily's and his trust vault would have supplied all the funds he needed as they were quite wealthy.

It was a shame that there was nothing else other than money in her vault, but beggars can't be choosers. The storage room that Boppy made under Godric's Hollow should contain her valuable possessions and books. He was curious about how she amassed over 400,000 pounds, but it's not hard to make money with magic and half a brain.

The Potter vault was a bit more interesting. When Potter Manor was destroyed, everything undamaged was stored there for safekeeping until it could be rebuilt. Unfortunately, every Potter except for Harry was killed.

Chad wondered why all the money was in Galleons until he realised that they would have had smaller currency exchanged before depositing it. Why would you store Knuts when you could change them into shiny gold coins? Well, unless you were the Weasleys. 

When Molly went to withdraw money for school supplies, there was a total of 1 Galleon and 58 Sickles. Now that is poor, the bank fees would be costing her more than she was ever going to put in there. Hell, she couldn't even buy Ron a new wand for 7 Galleons!

Anyway, Chad would have to make a trip to the Gringotts when everything quieted down. There was no rush as fees for vaults were issued on the 1st of January, so he had a few months before he was charged. Even though he was a millionaire now, he was still not going to pay for three vaults. Chad was a tight-arse unless it involved alcohol.

Now with a detailed list of his vaults, that only left Godric's Hollow. He sent Boppy off with the same task, but this time to bring back all books on mind magic, wizard law and pureblood ancestry. The pureblood ancestry books were simply to satisfy his curiosity and plan out his list of enemies. If they couldn't find any there, then pick them up from the Bank, there were several items on the list that looked like they fit the bill.

He would also need to pay attention to the Wizenmagot and see who walked free with bullshit reasons. Chad had a few plans brewing, but a lot of them relied on exploiting wizarding law. From what was portrayed in the books, the Ministry and Wizenmagot was a joke and shouldn't take too much effort to abuse for his benefit.

Tom Riddle really went about taking over the wrong way. Unfortunately, he never stood a chance, as he realised too late that he had been dancing to the real Dark Lords tune. He was only a puppet playing at being a Dark Lord, prepared for the job since he started Hogwarts. As smart as he was, he still missed that he was groomed to be sacrificed to solidify Dumbledore's image as the leader of the light.

It was nearly even the same regimen that was used to groom Harry Potter. Stuck in an abusive situation that Dumbledore wanted to help fix but was unable. Withhold important information, guided to the restricted section of the library to seek answers and for power. The kindly advisor that helped smooth over any problems that arose.

It was really sickening to watch when you knew what was happening, it was eerily similar to paedophiles grooming children. The fact that Dumbledore was gay and knew how to wipe memories gave Chad goosebumps, he would definitely have to set up his house-elves guard plan sooner rather than later!

Boppy appeared holding Chad's solution to future power, books on mind magic. The other subjects could wait until he had the basics down. After all, Occlumency was the key to unlocking eidetic memory. This would make learning everything else much quicker and with better results.

Occlumency was always neglected by today's wizarding world, and if it was ever learnt, it was only to combat Legilimency. They somehow forgot that it was mastering your emotions and memories, not just putting up mental barriers. For a magic system that effectively operated from willpower and was strengthened by emotion, it seemed rather idiotic not to learn and master Occlumency.

The ability to organise memories so that they could be recalled immediately was the dream of every academic. Chad had been pretty lazy in school, much preferring to play instead of learning. But once you are older, you regret not learning more as a child. 

Although it doesn't affect you much, another language, advanced mathematics, science or computer skills are always handy to have. Since Chad had already lived to regret not learning when he had the chance, now armed with a magical way to memorise everything, he was going to be king of the nerds! This wasn't even factoring in the things he could do if he also masted Legilimency!

By the time Chad reached Hogwarts, he would make Professor X look like a slack-jawed yokel that hadn't studied past kindergarten.

R.O.B was tired of reading about how Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore was the greatest wizard of all time and how he craps rainbows. 

He wanted to tear off the facade so that Dark Lord Dumbles is exposed for the villain he really is. To do so, he enlists the help of a like-minded geek and throws him into the body of baby Harry Potter when he was struck with the killing curse.

Konoha Academy - 7 years after Kyuubi attack

I suddenly opened my eyes to look at a guy wearing weird clothes staring at me. I confusedly looked at my surroundings when the weird-looking guy spoke.

'Ichijo Sousuke, you have passed. Here are the papers, please go to the next room for your class assignment' said the guy.

I quickly nodded my head without showing how confused I was and took the handed papers and went out of the room. 

Suddenly I had a small headache while 7 years' worth of memories came streaming in. It was like watching a long movie but I was able to make sense of my current situation.

I was born in Konoha village, which is a shinobi village in the year 50 after the founding of the village. That year a huge monster called Kyuubi attacked the village and I became an orphan.

Stifling through the memories, I seem to have bought up in Konoha orphanage and today was a test day to see if I can become a ninja. Orphans were allowed to test for free where we are tested to see if we have the energy to become a ninja. It would seem like a very small number of orphans have access to this energy seeing as every year only a couple get selected.

I silently made it to next door, where another weirdly dressed guy who I remember as a ninja asked for my papers. After looking at it. I was informed that I  will start in class B where all the orphans and commoners are assigned and after a year will be able to be promoted to class A which is the top class.

I was also given a plain student backpack with books, scrolls, class materials and told to come in for orientation which was 3 days from now.

I nodded and took the backpack and went outside. I saw many people huddled outside either celebrating that their child has the potential to become a shinobi or sad that they failed to have chakra.

I stopped for a second when I heard the term as I was kinda familiar with the term from Indian mythology. But paying it no mind, I quickly made it to a secluded bench to make sense of my current situation.

After going through more memories, I found out where I live, which is an orphanage. I also found out I could move out to an apartment sponsored by the village if I passed the exam today. 

Quickly making my way to the orphanage, I was greeted by a kind old lady who was a matron of this orphanage. 

'Sousuke-Kun, congratulations on passing the test. This year, it would seem only you passed from the orphanage.' she said while smiling happily.

I was glad that I was kinda a loner for the last 7 years and rarely talked, this was because I was silent most of the time due to my soul coming to the forefront. After getting details about the apartment where I will live for the next 4 years, I was told to pack up and leave in the next two days to settle down in the apartment assigned. I was also given my first stipend and terms I agreed to for this chance.

It would seem like even though this was a sponsored, it's not for free, there is a contract saying that 20% of my future revenue as a ninja will be taken as compensation for the academy fees, apartment fees and living expenses given as stipend with 15% yearly interest. so basically as a loan. Also, I would need to be a ninja under Konoha for at least 10 years wherein I can retire but not work for any other village.

Damn, out of one war and now I have to prepare my next fifteen years for another. This thought made me gloomy. But I was also interested in learning about the energy these ninjas manipulate.

After a few more words, I went inside the shared room and started packing my meager belongings to move today seeing I was getting resentful looks from everyone else In the room who failed. 

I said byes to the orphanage staff and went to the apartment allotted which was closer to the academy.

This time I took a slow walk looking around the village. I saw a Mount Rushmore looking mountain overlooking the village which has four faces whom I am guessing are the four Hokages of the village.

I also picked up a meal seeing that its already evening and got to the apartment I was allotted. It would seem like these apartments cycle through orphans a lot and be handed down along with furniture for the future tenants. It was a studio apartment with Living which has a sofa along with kitchen and a small bedroom also having a study table and a bookcase which doesn't have any books right now and a small attached bathroom. 

After arranging my few sets of cheap clothes and books, I went into the bathroom and looked at my current appearance.

I looked like a chubby kid with pale skin. I also have jet black hair which was medium length coming till my forehead and clear violet eyes. It would seem like I was also a little on the fat side but seeing as I was still 7 years old and was not too active before today, it made sense. But there is potential here.

I quickly took a bath and ate the dinner I bought after which I took the books presented today and sat on the study table. Now that I have privacy and cleaned up I took a paper and pen to formulate my next steps.

"Okay, Let recap. I have died and got to that weird reincarnation place. I somehow got through the cleansing process without losing my memories. Then while I was moving around got encased by a recently cleansed soul due to touching it while it was still cleansing and then took control of my new body after 7 years. Now I am in weird-ass japan looking place where not just Japanese people live but whole different variety of people are there and I have a Japanese name now. This place also has huge monsters if the attack can be believed and I became an orphan again. Now I will be training to become a ninja and be in service for at least 15 years from now." I said aloud so that I can hear myself talking.

I looked at the books presented which are covering 4 parts. There is the history book, A physical exercise guide and a scroll containing Little Leaf Style taijutsu which is nothing but hand to hand combat. I also have a diet plan and manuals on standard weapon handling, Strategy and basics of all other types of Jutsu's and Chakra theory which is what the energy called. Also, I have basic math and science books. It would seem like these books cover the whole 4 years curriculum.  

"Damn, It would seem like covering all these books will take me at least 5 months. Only if my BioChip is here right now, It would be easier to keep track of my progress." I said outside. Suddenly I felt the familiar interface booting up and an install shield that appears on the first loading of the BioChip appeared before me. This would not be visible to others since its a thought based AI which is overwriting my eye signals to be only perceived by me and readable by my brain.

I was shocked as I am pretty sure the BioChip was not inserted into my brain this time but still excited about this as It would feel pretty weird to function without it after spending one-third of my past life with it. This is also looking like the latest version which has all my customizations through the years.

I silently made my thought command, 'BioChip Start Installation.' after which the install shield disappeared and a progress bar was visible. Using the BioChip is a huge dent for the mental stamina and this time I am using it three years early so I am somewhat nervous if my brain can accommodate the change. 

It seems like I dint have to worry as it was installed successfully and become operational. The BioChip has 3 functions, 

one is the status function which gives the full status of the body in numerical pronunciation. 

Second is the learning assist function which helps to perfect any action I would like to perform by showing where to improve. 

The third function is the knowledge storage and research function which completes research on any theory I can come up with, provided if I already have the basic information fed in the storage. 

Now that I have it installed, let's test the first function. I put in a thought command 'Status'. When a page became clear with my current information.

As Yeon's smile slowly faded away, a slight sad look appeared on her face as she watched Dae Hwa disappear in the bustling town... 

Without another thought of what had just happened, Yeon brushes the matter aside and went back to looking for weapons and ancient spell books. After analyzing all the books displayed on the shelves, none had caught her eye... "miss none have caught your interest?... they all have been kept on good condition and have very powerful spells in them for rank 8." The shopkeeper looked disappointed at Yeon and boasted about his books with a sense of mockery behind his voice... "do you have any other books?" Yeon sighed and rubbed her temples as none of the books satisfied her. She needed a powerful book a very powerful one... 

"..." the shopkeeper just stood there confused as he didn't know why she wouldn't want these beautiful books. Still thinking about her odd request he went to the back of his old and run down store and brought out a basket filled with atleast 100 books I'm pretty bad condition. Some were in such bad condition some pages were missing and most of the words weren't visible any longer. "Will this do? I'm not sure why you'd want to a books like these you can hardly even read the stuff in here missy. If you can find a book in here you can consider it a gift. No need to pay for it, I've been trying to get ride of these books for a while. " he scratched his head confused and walked back to his rusty counter talking to other customers. 

Meanwhile, Yeon was siting in a corner looking through all the dusty books. She now sat there for around 2 hours already, browsing through them all and still, none had caught her attention... "missy" called out the shopkeeper as he saw her depressive state, "why look so hard for a book? Why not just take one that your feelings pull you towards? It'll be much easier, and you never know, maybe you'll find a really good book on this like of trash..." he shock his head and turned back to his other customers. 

Leaning back against the wall whilst closing her eyes Yeon took a small breather to refresh her herself... 2 minutes later she opened her eyes and viewed the same sight she'd seen for the past 2 hours... a pile of old books. Biting her lip with dissatisfaction she started placing the books back into the basket. Just as she intended to place the last book back into the basket, she took a glance at it. -oh it looks like I've missed this book while looking through the others...- Yeon analyzed the book cover, it was quite old and dusty and had some minor rips in it, but everything else was readable. Except for one thing... the text itself was in a total different language. Reluctant to place it back, a voice appeared behinds her "that book it really old... at least a thousand years old. You've got quite the eye missy when it comes to antiques." The shopkeeper has snuck up behind Yeon as he saw her Analyse the old books. "I'll take it! This is the one I was looking for" Yeon's eyes lit up as she stared at the book in front of her.
Something inside of her was drawn to this book, she hadn't the slightest clue as to why but felt that if she were to leave this book behind she would never be able to get her revenge and find her dead parents. 

"If that's the book you want missy consider it yours... I won't have any use for it anyways" waving back at Yeon he walked away to attend to the others. Happily Yeon skipped out the stall and started making her way back home to her hut, excited to start reading her newly gained treasure.

I stood at the deck of the ship, sipping wine as I watch the stars above. Those stars glitter like sparkling dust, free from the cruelty of the world and I envy them. I am but a mere human who wish to live a good life after my mother's death and take good care of my grandfather's legacy. This twenty-nine year old body has seen the world at its most glorious days and has visited the doors of hell once; when the glorious days have perished. A place I never want to see again.

I was only seven years old back then, it was twenty-fifth of December where a celebration was held back home and later ended the lives of my family members, excluding my father who was away for a business trip and I as the last witness. People are screaming, I saw the fear in my mother's eyes as she held me and silenced my brother. But I was too young to understand what was happening, so I rushed out of our hiding place and ran away. 

Hiding myself in an antique decorative room which enabled me to see everything that was happening in our large living room. My grandfather was shot dead and grandmother was dying beside him. Men in black raided the room and left no one alive, but the most heartbreaking part was seeing my mother look for me. Gunshots rang as her body fell limp on the floor, and my brother, he was tortured before his head rolled to the ground.

That evening, after most people had fallen asleep, Casimir sneakily exited the dormitory, deciding to make use of this chance to secretly enter the library once again in search for books with mysterious contents.

Since the next day was the start of the holidays and the day which most students would be heading back to their homes, tonight was the last night in which Casimir had the opportunity to search for such books.

Knowledge was power, and power is essential. Unfortunately, today was Friday. The day in which many mysteries in the school are slowly revealed.

There were stairs that would lead to different places in the castle that would normally stay hidden, doors that would open to a room that wasn't there before, and passages that didn't exist on the other days of the week. If Casimir wasn't in possession of the compass, he would've gotten lost long ago already.

After passing through unfamiliar corridors and avoiding Filch a few times, Casimir finally arrived to his destination and discovered that... The library was locked.

No worries! It can be fixed with a simple "Alohamora!".

And thus, the library was unlocked. Yet, what greeted his sight was not the normal library on normal days. Instead, it was like the library became a dark dungeon. But, this dark dungeon was filled with books so, maybe, it could still be considered as a library of some sorts..?

Well then... Time to hunt for some books, I guess?

Casimir began to search through the piles of seemingly abandoned books, in search of hidden treasures which were buried under piles of rotting papers and moldy objects which had rusted over for who knows how long already.

Eventually, under the piles, Casimir found books which could be considered as in a somewhat decent condition. At least they weren't covered in mold and the words were still readable to an extent.

Most Dangerous Curses and the Killing Arts... Refining the Body into a Magical Artifact... Ancient Bloodlines and How to Acquire Them... Horcruxes and the Fountain of Youth...

No wonder these books were all abandoned! They pretty much reeked of the dark arts!

I'll take them! Casimir grinned widely and showed all presentable books that he could find inside his bag, humming a small tune as he did so. It was obvious that he was in a good mood.

Afterwards, seeing as the time was nearing midnight, he decided to end his search for the day and come back after the holidays. Who knows, there might be other good things hiding underneath the moldy piles. He just hadn't discovered them yet.

Unfortunately, when he opened the door to the library once again, he discovered that... The corridors had disappeared.

Melecrit's mom! I was scammed!

...

It has already been nearly ten minutes since he had been walking along this seemingly never ending hallway. Once again, Casimir tried to use his compass to find the right direction towards his room but, just like the previous tries before, the compass pointed straight ahead... Wait, no!

It was changing directions! 

The arrow of the compass spun around wildly, not staying at the same direction for too long before changing again. This confused Casimir greatly.

How can the direction change so fast? Is the compass broken? Impossible!

In the end, Casimir had to adjust the way he held the compass and, when he held the compass vertically, the arrow finally paused, showing north.

Up...? Casimir glanced upwards into the ceiling, unsure if the compass was showing the right direction.

After grabbing a long, rusty rod, Casimir began to poke at the ceiling and, to his surprise, he did not feel the rod make any contact with anything solid. Instead, the rod directly passed through the ceiling.

But, before he could ponder more about the matter, he felt his body being sucked into the ceiling and, the next thing he knew, he was already standing in the Slytherins common room.

There was actually a hidden hallway underneath the dungeons!

Casimir felt as if he had just found out a secret of the castle. That just means...

He now has a secret base in which he could train in peace! Unfortunately, he could only enter it during Fridays.

But... Maybe, there are other entrances to the place! He just hadn't found them yet!

It wasn't easy for Tachibana Ayami to become one of the top Assassins in the whole of Gretzheims. Unfortunately for her, just before she managed to finish her last mission, she was betrayed by her younger sister, the person she trusted the most.

Shin, who left the restaurant, turned around on his foot toward the library. Even though the request was not completed yet, it didn't have a time limit. So he didn't need to hurry. From now on, because of his conduct during the last few days, he intended to carefully study the possible sense of an impending crisis.

"Is it here?"

Shin was at the middle point of the commercial and residential districts. Loud voices from energetic merchants could be heard occasionally. It was a quiet place compared to the commercial district.

And in front of Shin, there was a library standing tall before his eyes. The library, which was managed by the Bayreuth kingdom, was named the Royal Magic Library.

It seemed to have plenty of magic category books assembled together, but he was told by Tsugumi that the information about common knowledge that he didn't understand, could be found here. Though there were books that couldn't be read without permission inside, there was no problem, since Shin intended to only study within a readable scope at this time.

From the information desk, the chairs, tables, and the large quantity of bookshelves in the library, there was nothing special about it, nor were there features that could distinguish it from other libraries. Just in case, he received an explanation about the usage at the information desk, he summarized the matters that required attention, such as how he could only rent 3 books at a time, how there was a limit in amount of rental days, and how he was free to read inside the library, but how it would cost money if he borrowed one.

As for the rental cost, it was based on what kind of book it was, and how many days it was rented for. Of course, if a book was lost, there would be a fine. The general rule for the books which required permission to be read, was that it was prohibited to rent them, and there were books that couldn't be read without certain social status and/or trust such as the senior adventurers and the court service officers.

If there was a valuable book, one would think that a thief would break into the library. But there were guards and soldiers who kept watch on the surroundings in the building. In addition, they also had the skill for crime prevention, so no fellow could act violently.

(Is it level Ⅷ [Barrier] and [Wall]? So that's why they are so full of confidence.)

Although he doubted that the skill barrier used was stronger than the rampart, he still admired that the barriers were never broken since from the very beginning.

After receiving the explanation, he was instructed where the books of which field were located at. Then, he gathered books around the library and sat down on a empty seat.

First, the history. After all, Shin thought that the first thing he had to do was to investigate about the 'Dusk of the Majesty', which seemed to be connected to the simultaneous logout from the death game. Because there was a chronology which listed the big events since the country was founded in the book, he opened it at once.

 


"First of all, from the recent events. Um, it's the 511th years now from when the country was founded, huh? Because it's said that the 'Dusk of the Majesty' occurred 500 years ago, and it was almost in the same time period as the founding of the country."

He traced back the chronological table to the past while looking puzzled due to the strange coincidence. There were numerous things related to the national administration that were written, such as the conclusion of the alliance, the kings taking over, funerals, wars, large-scale constructions, and so on. As he looked at the end of the chronology, which was the part about the country's founding.

"No info about the 'Dusk of the Majesty' is written here, not even a little."

Only the founding of the Bayreuth kingdom was written about in the chronology, anything that happened earlier than that wasn't written about.

"Well, it's a chronology after all. I guess that it was written about in other books."

He opened another history book while pulling himself together. However, most of the content in the opened books did not describe in detail the 'Dusk of the Majesty'.

Though he read several history books afterward, the conclusion was still the same. Only one of the books seemed to have written about the event.

"The world has changed after that day…"

The king left, the country disappeared, and it was written that the world had changed, but it was not written clearly about what happened to the world afterwards. Apparently, after the 'Dusk of the Majesty', there was temporary chaos around the world, but the 'Dusk of the Majesty' was not described in detail. It seemed odd that there was so little recorded in the book about the players' logout, where they were thought to have vanished.

He took out one of the books from the mountain of books while thinking that no book could provide him with the info he wanted.

It seemed to be a book about races, and each feature and characteristic was briefly described.

Human ―― They have the highest number in population, and there were a lot of countries, too. When a kingdom was established, the ruler was called a King.

Dragnil ―― Power and vitality were prominently high, have a long life. It can transform into the shape of a human. When an empire was established, the king was called a Dragnil King.

Beast ―― They have the highest number in population next to humans, they are keen and nimble, and have different characteristics in every tribe. When the tribe was gathered together and formed an alliance, the chief was called a Beast King.

Lord ―― There was a little bias about their ability, also no ability that seemed prominent, but as a whole, their abilities have the tendency to be high. When the empire was established, the king was called a Devil King.

Dwarf ―― They have skillful hands and are good at making armor and tools. They were scattered in every country and formed a guild which had the tendency to share their technique and craft. The best craftsman was called a Cave King.

Pixie ―― They are the longest living race, they excelled at magic handling. The pixies were divided between the ones who lived in this world, and the ones who lived in the fairy village in the other world, which exchange with each other. The king was called a Fairy King.

Elf ―― Their lifespans come 2nd after the pixies, not only magic, but also their crisis perception ability was high. They lived in the woods. Young elves often appeared outside the village. The village was called the garden, and the chief was called the Forest King.

There were no contents that differed from Shin's knowledge. Although Shin momentarily felt a sense of incongruity for the dwarf's best craftsman, who was called the Cave King, he remembered that there was a setting where dwarves originally lived in caves.

Because there was a chance that an Elf or Pixie might know about the 'Dusk of the Majesty', he made sure to memorized that part.

"Now then, what should I read next?"

He decided to investigate as long as the time permitted, and opened the next book.

While Shin was doing the investigation in the library, executives, such as Barlux and Els, were preparing for a meeting in a room of the adventurers' guild.

Of course, the agenda was the Skull Face. Even though the situation called for waiting for the appraisal of the jewel, the members that had some free time were gathered for the time being. There was a possibility that the information was accurate, because the one who reported was said to hold a letter of introduction. Since the Skull Face had already been defeated, the sense of urgency was not high, but the Shin's personality in the report of Barlux and Els was raised to some extent.

Though the man called Shin seemed to be easily trusted, there was never a case where a dangerous person held the letter of introduction, so it gave the report some credibility.

"Well then, let's start the special meeting."

All the members in the room directed their attention to Barlux in response to his voice.

"Though there are people who have already heard this, the Jack • Skull Face that appeared in the northern forest was subdued. The one who subdued it only collected a jewel, which is currently under investigation."

"The Jack class was subdued and neither the sword nor the armor were collected?"

All the members looked puzzled due to the words from Barlux, who reported plainly. The first one to speak was Ardi, who was just dispatched as a liaison from the kingdom. The mage, Arad Royl, who was in charge of the appraisal of the jewel, nodded as he had the same kind of doubt. Kylie Ein, who was the sub-master, and Els, who knew about the circumstances, had no reaction. Then Barlux continued.

"The person told me that the sword and armor were not a big deal."

"Not a big deal?…"

Ardi had the expression of someone who didn't understand. Arad was laughing "hohoho" while combing down his beard.

"To declare something like that, it seems that this man's wealth is quite considerable."

Although Arad's hair and beard were white-colored because of his old age, due to his well-developed back muscles, which were tightly visible, he didn't look as old as he was. The way he laughed suited the good-natured old man.

"The fellows who hold the introduction letter are generally thoughtless fellows. They don't care about losing their life, especially the young ones."

"Is that so?"

"Wait! Wait! Though I have no obligation to say this, we are not that thoughtless."

"It's not convincing when guild master says so."

Ardi was about to believe Arad's claim as common sense. But Barlux interfered, and was put down by Els.

"Well, let's go back to the jewel case. I don't know the details yet, but apparently there are no mistakes, at least about the story of its level being 359."

"Still. It would be nice if the proof part was collected. The problem is whether or not a similar monster has appeared."

It was likely a little joking, and the moderate tension became loose from Arad's honest report. Because there was no one excelling Arad in jewel appraisal in the guild, it was decided that a Skull Face that had the level of at least a King class had appeared.

"The staff that's skillful in searching has already gone out to investigate it. The information will be assembled tomorrow."

Kylie complemented in a calm tone. Black hair held together with a barrette, light brown pupils and long-narrow eyes could be seen from the interior of her glasses. The secretary of Barlux had good looks and skill combined, and a sword could be seen at her hips.

"As usual, Kylie did her work fast. The guild master should follow her example."

"Our sub-master is excellent, old man Royl."

"Can Barlux-sama focus on your work a little more?"

"Urgh"

"She has no mercy."

A few words from Kylie break the joke from Barlux. Barlux was not bad at office work particularly, but Kylie still seemed to be dissatisfied with him.

"......"

"Hmm, were you surprised that this is different than you thought?"

"No, well you might say, because I thought that the feeling of tension should remain a little bit."

Arad asked Ardi, who was taken aback by the dialogue of the three people. He seemed to have a serious personality. Ardi said modestly, and yet he showed a slightly perplexed expression.

"Well it's a usual case. Besides, this is something like a petty liaison meeting, rather than a conference. If this was a state of emergency, each district chief and S rank adventurers would gather here."

"Still, only one Skull Face has been reported, right?"

Ardi understood that it was not an emergency situation, because only five people gathered, but he thought he might be too optimistic. Arad, who read Ardi's mind, complemented Ardi so he revealed his true feelings.

"It seems so. To be honest, there is no knowing how many such monsters are out there, and there is a reason to do an assessment."

"Is it the barrier's protection?"

"Yes. Do you know about it?"

"It's the barrier against monsters. It is said that monsters from outside the barrier will not be allowed to come near."

"That's right, the first King erected the barrier. Therefore, even if a strong monster is born, they can't come inside the barrier. It also has the effect of silencing strong dark magic. In addition, we are being vigilant ourselves, too."

The technique from the time the kingdom was founded was still protecting the Bayreuth kingdom. That was the reason why the amount of strong monsters that had appeared so far, hadn't increased.

However, neither the kingdom nor the guild considered the barrier absolute, no matter how well it defended. In response to the Skull Face report, the knights' group was prepared, so they could sally out by the thoroughgoing condition in the kingdom. Also, the subjugation report was not confirmed at the moment, so the adventurers were still waiting for orders and were working hard to gather information.

"Skull Faces become active at night. Ardi, in preparation for the worst case, I want you to contact the knight leader and raise the alertness order by one rank."

"Roger that."

Barlux spoke during the gap of the conversation between Ardi and Arad. The flustered state just a while ago seemed hard to believe. Judging from Arad, Kylie and Els' attitude, it was probably a usual thing.

"That's all from me. Does anyone have any other opinions? If not, I assume we are done."

Arad, Els and Kylie thought it was over regarding the main report of the Skull Face from Barlux. However, Ardi raised his hand and Barlux nodded to let him convey his opinion.

"The Skull Face this time had a different weapon from the information we obtained. I would like you to give me detailed information on the person who subdued the Skull Face, so the investigation about the weapon can become clear after this."

"Hmm, though there is no intention to cover up information about the weapon, I can't reveal anything about the person who subjugated it, as it was his wish. Still, if it's alright, lets take responsibility for it. I wonder about why you are making a fuss about this, may I hear the reason?"

"Yes. Though the story changed a little, does everyone know about the sword that flew to the royal castle?"

Naturally all the members nodded back. If there was no disturbance by the Skull Face, it would have been a hot topic by now.

"The Skull Face was subdued on the day when the sword flew to the royal castle, furthermore, the Skull Face that appeared this time was equipping a greatsword that was different from the normal ones. There is only one person who can connect these together, I think."

Everyone except Ardi imagined one person from his remark.

"May I hear what kind of sword it was?"

"There's a condition you must adhere to, or I can't disclosed the information."

All members agreed on Ardi's condition. There was no person that didn't know the importance of the information in this place.

"The sword's blade is about 2 mels long and the material is a demon steel mixed with an alloy of mithril. Moreover, the sword has permanent light attribute magic bestowed upon it. If it is put side by side with our country's treasured sword, then the treasured sword seems to be poorly made."

"!?"

Everyone couldn't hide their surprise at his words. Speaking of the treasured sword of the Bayreuth kingdom, even at the lowest rank, it was a weapon that was classified as "Legend" grade. It was a national treasure grade of weapon that almost no person could forge, so there were no equal swords in existence right now. Let alone that a person thought that the Skull Face held it.

Because he was in the middle of a fight, Shin didn't notice as he did not use the appraisal skill. He thought the greatsword of the Skull Face was of the lowest grade, but it had a self-restoration ability which was higher than "Rare" and "Unique".

"If it's assumed that the Skull Face had the greatsword, then the person in question is indomitable, as the enemy had a weapon at the treasured sword level in addition to a high level was subjugated. But no need to worry, as it is impossible I think. Besides that, I was a little troubled by it…"

Though the worry about the strength of the person at hand was understandable, Barlux, who doubted the indescribably, indecisive of Ardi's speech in the latter half, asked.

"Troubled by it?"

The content which Ardi recited was indeed true, although he had only guessed, and nobody came to have conclusive evidence, because there was no one who knew about the greatsword in detail. It was said that it was impossible for undead to have a weapon with the light attribute in this world.

"As for this, news may reach Barlux-dono soon, as it is likely to be announced grandly. Until then, please don't tell anyone for the time being."

"Hmm, understood. Should others leave this place?"

"Because the permission is given, it doesn't matter, as I follow the same condition as a while ago. Since there is a possibility that everybody will know, too."

Though everyone except Barlux had a question about the announcement place, they nodded for the time being, and then speech was urged to be started.

"Actually…"

Afterwards, everyone who was present was perplexed about the content that leaked out of Ardi's mouth.

“THE NEW GATE”, an online game that trapped its players and turned into a death game, was now releasing the thousands of players that had been dragged into it, thanks to the efforts of Shin, one of the most powerful players. But after having defeated the last boss and freed everyone, he was swallowed up by a strange light and found himself inside the game world 500 years in the future and unable to leave.

"Io, Io, name. What-their name?" Sorcha asked excitedly. 
"Yes, Little Flower needs a name!!!" Dagan add along bouncing energetically in place as his hands waved all over the place.  

Io's eyes widened. Right name. She looked at the flower-like child docilely standing next to the twins and felt a minor headache coming on. No gender identification... Of course, even with the all the little ones running around in the bare it wasn't like there was any way to showcase their genders. Erm... Alrighty, so we will stick with strictly gender neutral names.

Io went over the little one's appearance trying to find some inspiration. Jade-green scales. Porcelain skin. Fair white hair. Large cat-like lavender eyes and emerald colored claws. A delicately refreshing floral scent. Should be female right? Io cringed at the possibility of giving a feminine name to this tyke only for him or her to be a boy. It was bad enough that Dagan was calling their new family member Little Flower as a nickname. If the little one really was a boy it would this would all be a slightly traumatizing memory. Ergo, Io decided on a name that could blur the gender lines and be easy for the kids to read.

Scratch. Scratch. Scratch.
Io carefully drew their new family member's name in the dirt.
"Zzzz-en. Zzz---iiiinnn. Zen!" Dagan read out loud. Limited by how she could communicate, Io settled on an easily readable name for the twins and furthermore it was was a good balances between delicate for girls and peaceful for boys. Much like Little flower's demeanor. 

Sorcha had a thoughtful look on her face. After a few weeks of having the twins, I had taken them to a sparsely inhabited part of the city on a desperate endeavor for food. The rations I had stored over time had run out due my newly found siblings at the time. While searching the black clouds that always clung to the sky opened up and started pouring acid. Luckily we were able to seek shelter in a dilapidated building. To our surprise it was a run-down library. Many of the books inside were so fragile that they'd fall apart if you tried picking them up, but after scrounging we were able to find few in good enough condition to read. 

Over the next year we had made the old library our base and while we may have not always been able to stay due to having hide from any officers that occasionally searched the area, it was home. While there, I tried to read as many to the two as I could. While I may have been educated in the facility, I was only taught was relevant to present day's society, and as far as I was concerned our current is nothing more than trash. Everyone out for themselves. Imperfection equal to death, a detriment to our skin-deep culture. 

I always felt there was something broken with us, but it wasn't I started reading to Sorcha and Dagan that I realized how broken we had become. Philosophy was a hard one, but just a little because I always got a headache when trying to break it down, and some of it I couldn't even comprehend. Not to mention in our world there was no place for such deep philosophical ramblings. It was do or die. You or me, and for a teenage girl with two toddlers there just wasn't enough energy to really consider 'starting a revolutionary way of thinking.' Heck if we tried it would more likely that whoever listened would turn us in for a month's worth of physiological-tailored Vita Bars. Yes warm fuzzies folks. 

So the popular ones were mostly fairy tales, legends. However, there was one philosophical book that struck a core with me. It was about Zen. Our desires had run rampant over mankind and engulfed us. Little wonder that the concept of Zen was so interesting. It was the diametrical opposite of what I had grown up with and experience. 

It was like a drop of water unassuming, until it landed, creating quiet ripples in it's wake. To lack desire in a world ruined by it. To just be. To exist freely, peacefully. Beautiful. So this bygone principle stuck with me. Lingering quietly in the back of my mind. While I could not give my desires as that would equate to my loved ones and my death. It was, I dunno, it was a pretty glass house in a world covered in grime. 

So yep, Zen fits this little one. A beautiful little one, in a world that had not been ravaged. Free to exist. Free to not have desire. Where you can find peace in the day to day. Happiness in just living. This little one will hopefully never know the sorrow I had seen and definitely not the abuse Sorcha and Dagan had gone through prior to my finding them. 

Shaking my head to clear my reminiscing, I focused back on my trio of dumplings. Sorcha was laughing and calling Zen! Zen! Zen!. Dagan was trying to get Zen to speak and Zen was nodding his? Her? (Let's just go with his for now.) Head agreeing with Dagan on how he needed to behave. 

Io nuzzled Zen and the little one look at her with large dewy lavender eyes, and lifted his arms up to hug her muzzle. Sorcha and Dagan, not to be left out, each wrapped one arm around our Little Flower, their arms each clinging to my muzzle. It was heaven. 

BOOOOOM!
Birds flew out of the trees nearby and animals we had never seen started running through our little piece of heaven. I whipped my head, wrapped my tail around the trio and deposited them on my back. Sorcha climbed around Zen to sit behind him and made him hug his around Dagan so he wouldn't fall of if I had to move while she and Dagan gripped my the ink-colored fur that grew along my spine. 

Quickly rolling my shoulder to let them know I was going to move, I proceeded to lunge into the brush between a cluster of trees. Running away from whatever the effing bells that was I looked for a place that I could easily defend if I needed to not knowing what had caused the disruption. Zen warbled his fright at the sudden change of atmosphere but I could hear Dagan and Sorcha soothing their new brother. 

I ran until I found the side of the mountain from earlier and searched the area. I knew I had seen it. Where is it? Dammit Io remember. Casting for that wet earth smell I located a small cave that I had found after rescuing the twins. The only reason, we hadn't stayed there to begin with was it was to close to where that monster had attacked them and I had needed to find food and water. After locating the small cave I quickly off-loaded them into small den like space before following.

BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.
In the distance I could the trees shaking, some falling as whatever made it's way through the forest traveled. The kids warbled some as they overlooked my shoulder but I snarled at them, baring a fang for them remain silent so as not to give us away. 

BOOM. BOOM. BOOM. 
Closer and closer it came, and further and further I pushed the kids away. Shit that thing is coming towards us! I started digging at the wet ground below, scooping up enough to cover the kids so as to disguise their scent. Once satisfied with my handy work, the gleam from the little ones' scales couldn't be seen. In fact it was hard to see them at all between the low lighting and the thick layer of mud coating their small frames. The only bit of color that could be seen was their grey, crimson, and lavender-colored eyes. I pushed them deeper until they were huddled against the wall about twenty feet away from the entrance, before I hurried towards said entrance to keep an eye out.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! The destruction had grown closer and closer to where we were hiding. I waited until the very last second before deciding to make one of the most difficult choices I had ever made. I looked back at my scared siblings. 

"Io?" Dagan asked.
"Io no! Don't!" Sorcha cried 
"I...I... I-o. Io." Zen called out starting to get alarmed at his siblings behavior. 
I snarled at my brothers and sister in warning before facing the danger that was heading our way and ran.

She died with her siblings in an apocalyptic storm.
