The construction of the holy power font was smoother than Lin Sheng had expected. With Adolf's generous support, all the materials on the purchase list had been quickly delivered. In less than two days, a carving factory, specialized in producing unique articles, had been set up.
The conversion system of the holy power font involved the precision carving of different symbols, which was not something Lin Sheng could simply chip using nail, hammer, and ax. A large number of high-density stones had been selected for building the watertight outer layer of the holy power font. Lin Sheng had come to the factory to supervise the work and conduct tests to ensure every step was done according to standard.
The builders of the metal disc were not the average holy power cultivators but grandmasters from Blackfeather City. Their design was nothing, unlike the rudimentary summoning circle. Lin Sheng divided the holy power font construction into two parts; one was the core component, and the other was the less critical flange. While he only supervised the work on the flange, he was carving the core parts all by himself. The core elements consisted of four stone globes of equal size, which he had to carve by hands and later to be inlaid at the bottom of the font. These four globes were the conduits by which Lin Sheng transmitted the holy power he produced. At the same time, the globes also worked as the monitoring device and regulators at four different positions.
Lin Sheng had missed his classes and been working overtime for five consecutive days in the building of the holy power font, which upon completion, the entire system of the sanctuary would be complete, and by then, the Ashen Seal would no longer be the factor constraining the growth of Lin Sheng. Not to mention that he could leverage the power of the sanctuary to kill enemies that were far more powerful than he was.

"Purification is completed. Let's go inside." Lin Sheng led the way and entered into the white-stone building. The flash of white light earlier was just a simple purification step. Once stepping inside, he reached to touch the bench, which still smelled of fresh paint.
"It is still an unfinished sanctum. But soon, it will come to its full glory." Without waiting for the other three, Lin Sheng strode to the back of the prayer altar. One meter away behind the prayer altar was a square pit, on the edge of which was a white oval object that looked like an egg. Slightly larger than a washing basin, the white object was fully covered in beautiful symbols and characters.
Lin Sheng bent over, picked up the object, and placed it into the pit before putting on the stone lid. The lid automatically locked with a secure click and followed by the electronic beeping sound of the advanced encryption lock that Adolf supplied. The combination of physical and electronic locking mechanisms made up the ultimate security protection.
"This will do." Lin Sheng stepped forward to stand on the stone lid before the prayer altar. "Leave me. I am going to activate the thing right away." Lin Sheng motioned the Steel Lord, Adolf, and Khadula. They quickly retreated, leaving Lin Sheng alone at the prayer altar with his eyes closed.
Immediately, wisps of holy power emanated from his feet began to seep into the white oval orb that he had just buried underground. Like the dyeing process, the holy power coated the patterns on the white oval object in white. Fifteen minutes had passed, and the white oval object had almost become entirely white. A further two minutes later, its surface had wholly turned snowy white.
Lin Sheng opened his eyes, extended his hand, and began to draw different strange symbols in the air. As the holy power surged in his body, the invisible symbols slowly descended and disappeared into the white oval object underneath his feet. A moment later, Lin Sheng let off his hand and carefully checked the steps in his mind.
"Done." He cautiously looked down at the floor in front of the prayer altar, where the gaps that were still visible a while ago had vanished as if they had been seamlessly patched and smoothened over and that there was never a secret compartment below.
Lin Sheng took a deep breath and stepped up the transfer of his holy power from his body. As the oval object underground vibrated, the patterns on its surface rapidly faded. The holy power that Lin Sheng injected into it worked like the first flame that lighted up a torch; it fired up the newly completed system of the holy power font with a large white oval globe suddenly appeared before Lin Sheng's mind eye and a countdown number on the globe.
"5… 4… 3… 2… 1…"

The globe instantly went up in a bright white flame. At the same time, a voice that Lin Sheng sound extremely familiar began to speak into his ears.
"Holy power authentication in progress…
"The ritual is flawless.
"Welcome to using the Central Sanctum System."
"No wonder the magicians were so relaxed while managing the research lab; this thing is high-tech." The voice amazed Lin Sheng. He knew that the system was going to be impressive, knowing that the architects behind this thing were grandmasters from Blackfeather City. But what he did not expect was how advanced it was. Even the female voice was the most pleasant voice he had ever heard and as far as he could remember. He had heard the voice in some songs in the past. It looked like a trick to his mind, the effect of a magic manipulation that converted the sound he heard into a voice that sounded the most pleasant to his ear.
Lin Sheng took a deep breath. He paused for a while, feeling the faint reticulation of the holy power, which slowly expanded in all directions and pervaded the entire hill. An elusive image suddenly popped up in the darkness of his vision. It was a translucent model of a hill, floating quietly before him with a web of white lines shimmering around. These white lines originated from a spot on the side of the hill and spread in all directions.
"Are the white lines the holy power network? This system is…" Lin Sheng was exceedingly amazed. The total amount of holy power that he had injected into the holy power font was equivalent to two Divine Words combined, just enough to conduct two rounds of evil detection at best. Even a newly transcended Temple Warrior could deliver this amount. To Lin Sheng, it was less than one-tenth of his total holy power. But even with this tiny amount, it could form a monitoring system covering the entire hill.
"It is a real masterpiece!" Lin Sheng could not help but gasp in admiration as he looked at the semi-transparent hill model before him. Following the record of the metal discs, as soon as he reached to touch the hillside on the hill model, the spot where he touched expanded as the model enlarged. 'Besides, there's a tracking chip in Eva so I'll be able to teleport at any time!'

With that to serve as insurance, she continued to merrily shop away. While she was doing that, Igor and Eva were seated across each other by the window from inside the cafe. Eva had a cold cup of a frappuccino while Igor just took some black coffee.

Both were wondering if it really was okay to leave a very vulnerable child with an adult that they've only known for a week. 

"Uncle?"

"What kind of store--"

Eva moved her line of sight to the store and it was only then she had seen the sign. White with dark brown lines that made it feel elegant and victorian. Cursive writing that was like the font you always used when you wanted to feel fancy. Although, the words that were written in the font had no relation to its fanciness.

Apparently, it was a shop where people could find different kinds of materials so they could make their cosplaying outfits or buy the ready-made ones. There were also a few that didn't come from any kind of franchise and were merely born out of the staff's imagination. 

Eva then peered through the front windows and saw the items they had up for display. From headbands with attachments that ranged from your friendly house cat to that of a... donkey?

'Why would anyone want to dress up as a donkey?'

She then noticed another item. It seemed to mimic a cat's tail. It didn't have any kind of waistband to secure it and at the other end, there was a weird shape. Eva thought.

There wasn't any other way to secure it except for the strange back end. As for how they kept it, maybe it was to act as a plug into the person's rear. So, logical thinking led to the reasonable conclusion of it being a...

"A butt plug?"

*SLAP*

Before any of the surrounding people could hear what Eva said, Felicia's hands swooped down and covered Eva's mouth from behind. It ended up letting a loud slap sound. 

"Mmph?"

Eva couldn't talk properly or turn her head so she could only let out a sound to show Felicia her confusion.

"Ah! It's been 30 minutes already! Let's go!"

The wind was blowing. It was soft like a gentle breeze but the landscape it passed through made it sound like an eerie warning instead. The cloud had turned into a dark grey and the clouds rumbled with thunder.

The trees that formerly brimmed with a lively green had all decayed with each leaf falling as the seconds went by. The greenhouse was shattered and the plants within had all been reduced to dust.

Mountains of ice covered the landscape and black jaws that forever ate at them chipped away at the frost. But it was neverending. No matter how many times the blackness ate away at it, more mountains would form and stand in its way. But for the ice, no matter how many times others came to its aid, they all would be eaten away.

When the three of them teleported to Cole's location, that was the sight they were greeted with. The sources of such carnage were too busy creating more that they didn't bother with the newly arrived spectators.

Besides the constant battle between ice and darkness, the distance, sparks could be seen dancing in the wind.  Felicia teleported them a bit closer to the scene and nearly had her eyes gouged out by a stray ice shard.

"Oh, that was pretty close."

While Felicia was casually glossing over the fact she nearly lost her ability to ogle at fine goods and Igor was shaking his head as if to say 'Here we go again', Eva was merely staring at the scene that looked very similar to the one she saw in her book. 

Again. 

"Ho!"

With a triumphant sound, 

"It's Schelanzia vs. Mikaruko!" 
"More people with weird names."
"They're name! Schelenzia is the God of Black while Mikaruko is the God of Cold!" 

"I feel like rooting for Mikaruko since he's the gave his divine protection to Sir Lucas but Schelenzia is super cool too..."
"Eh? What's the title of the book they appear in?"

Felicia brought out Eva's book from her Inventory and flipped a few pages and found the illustration for Schelenzia. His colour palette appealed to the emo kids with all the blacks and dark-purples. He was quite pale probably from all the time he spent in his room and he had eyeliner on for extra emo.

'What the fuck, he hot?!'

Although the earlier points of description paint the image of a teen who was still in their emotional rebellious phase and would spout nonsense like 'You don't understand me!' and 'It's not a phase!' without realizing their effect on other youths that actually had problems.

But anyway, the artist for the book had some real talent and skill! The watercolour aesthetic really made it glow pictures stand out. Felicia decided to actually read some of the author's other works later.

'Nerie...right?'

While they were in the middle of the extremely dangerous battlefield, patiently waiting for the participants to stop, Mikhail caught sight of Eva.

Both he and Cole were already aware of the group entering. The only reason why both of them had engaged in another fight was so they could properly assess each other's abilities. It also could've been because they started an argument about the best thing to mix with vodka.

Eva was staring at them with shining eyes. It was the face of a child who had seen the PWR Rangers for the first time in real life. Her appearance and expression sparked a memory in Mikhail's brain.

It was when his daughter was still a young child and still loved him very dearly at the time.

"Karine!"

He spat out blood and keeled over. As he was spitting blood, his eyes were letting out fluids too. As comedic as it sounded, he looked miserable. His strong image had instantly fallen apart and had only left a lonely old man. 

With his collapse, the ice receded and Cole removed the effects of his magic as well. The trees gained life once more and the grey clouds wandered off to their next destination. 

The sounds of birds chirping had returned and the wind had regained its soft and gentle melody. Unfortunately, no one had the thought to enjoy the beautiful scenery. They still had Mikhail on the ground. He was possibly in some pretty grave danger with his ashen face and spilt blood.

"...?"
"Is it really okay to just leave him like that?"
"It's fine. Our dignified boss instantly turns like that whenever he sees any small girl that remotely looks like his daughter."

They stayed silent and left Mikhail alone on the pavement for a bit longer until Cole crouched down and whispered something into Eva's ear. She didn't quite get it but she followed his suggestion anyway.

Eva tottered over to Mikhail and poked him on his cheek. She then said in a small voice...

"Deda?"

Although a shooting happened this morning, everything still happens normally today. The shooting site at Canglan is quickly blacked, forming a sharp contrast with us.

Grade 12 is very boring. You need to stuff all kinds of things you think are completely unrelated to you into your head, just to write them on to a piece of paper at July and forget them all in the next four years.

Our English teacher is a kind old lady. There's rumors about her teaching Chinese at a private school in England, giving our cute teacher a very unique habit: She always speed through paragraphs of English, and when translating it to us in Chinese, she always go slow and try to perfect her pronunciation, as if she doesn't want us to miss anything. It's always make me speechless...

I am kind of squinting, trying to pick out fragments I can understand from her authentic British accent(which is about as challenging as trying to analyze the composition of Pharaoh's breakfast from a stone board) when a paper ball hit me on my head.
I catch the paper ball, quickly calculating the direction, velocity, angle, wind speed when the paper ball is thrown...OK, let's open it...
There's line of possibly highly encrypted alien language on the paper, "Jun, is your sister OK?"
This font that look like what Van Gogh wrote with his left hand after two liters of liquor is definitely from Qian Qian, and only a few people on this planet can understand. This also make us not need to worry about being seen by other people when we are passing paper back and forth on tests...in a sense, her words works the same as codebook.
"She's good, her classmates and teachers are all nice to her. I don't think anyone would want to bully a blind girl." I responded with a font not easier to read than hers.
"Who knows. Take care of your sister, if she gets bullied you are to blame."
That was surprising. Pandora's appearance and her made-up story really worked...now Qian Qian is her No.1 guardian.
Bullied? Thinking about her battle mode this morning, my face starts to twitch. How many troops would it take to bully such a war-weapon?

Although I don't know who it is, it's definitely related to Xiling Empire. I look down at my book, pretending to be focusing my book, to hide the surprise that might appear on my face (according to my experience, there's always "surprise" whenever Xiling Empire contacts me), and accepted the connection.

Although I have tons of doubt, because of the discontinuous connection with the mother-star(one of millions of Xiling mother-stars), fragments of information after the long trip in no-delay spatial tunnel could not possibly project the world into my dream again, just like lagging on games when the internet speed is too slow. My dream world is fixed on the image I saw that night, and my connection to the mother-star nearly broke. Even Pandora could not get clear connection from the mother-star.
I tried to ask Pandora about world arbitration facility, but she said that she doesn't have enough authority to acquire any information related to the world arbitration facility.
So...why is the AI on mother-star trying to contact me?
Out of curiosity, I accepted the request, at the same time, I sense mental connection of another frequency. That frequency belongs to Pandora. Without her amplification, those messages wouldn't be much easier to understand than my teacher's British accent.

"Plot item, but it can be carried out of the scenario? Hmm," Feng Bujue murmured before trying to place the monkey inside his backpack. He succeeded. Then he exited the room.
There was a well-lit corridor outside the door. The walls were metallic, and the roof was still around five meters tall. There was still no sign of windows, and there were some doors on both sides of the walls, but they were either locked or blocked on the other side by some huge object. This meant that Feng Bujue could only continue down this main corridor. Occasionally, there were red arrows painted on the wall to tell Feng Bujue which direction to go in. After some walking, he understood that there was nothing useful on this path, so he picked up his speed and ran down the corridor, following the arrows. It took him about eight minutes to reach the end of the path, and before him was a metallic door that was painted red.
The door did not have a handle; instead, in the middle of it was a wheel like one seen on a large safe. Feng Bujue gripped the wheel and tried to give it a turn. It was then that he realized that the lock was tight, and he needed to exhaust plenty of energy before he could get the wheel to turn.
After turning the wheel halfway, the door started to move. Cold air rushed out from the gap, and Feng Bujue was gripped by a bad feeling. When the door opened, he noticed that the metallic door was very thick, and thus, the room was obviously a sealed cold storage room.
The interior of the room was literally a winterscape; the ground was covered with white snow, and there was frost on the walls. He lifted his head to look. Other than the lights, he noticed that three corners of the ceiling each had a tube placed vertically that was about one meters long. Once the door was open, white snow started to filter out of the tubes. Thankfully, even though the mouths of the tubes were big, only a flurry of snow was falling, not enough to influence Feng Bujue's visibility.
Feng Bujue took a deep breath and breathed into his palms. He rubbed his hands together as he walked into the room. Once he did, he noticed something out of place. The ground of the room was much lower than the bottom of the door and the corridor outside the door. So, the thin layer of snow that he had seen earlier was actually thicker than he thought. He stepped into the room, and his feet sank into the snow, up to his ankles. The chill came so suddenly that Feng Bujue jumped several times to get the blood flowing back to his feet. Alas, it was to no avail. The snow was so soft that the only way to stop himself sinking into it was to increase his surface of impact, so the man made the quick decision of kneeling down…
He did not close the door. In his kneeling position, he crawled to the opposite wall. There was another door there, but there was no wheel to open it. Instead, it had an electronic lock that was built into the door. There were four empty spaces on the lock, and next to the lock was a moveable iron plate. The square plate was about ten centimeters long and wide, and it had a small handle on it. Once Feng Bujue pulled the plate open, the door behind him closed on its own.
Behind the plate was a small space. A tape sat inside, and what he needed to do next was fairly obvious.
Feng Bujue took out the tape and the Walkman. He replaced the tape inside with the one that he had just found and then pressed play. "Merry Christmas, Ash. This is a time for family to be together, and at the same time, the Christmas spirit represents the importance of selfless sacrifice and blessing…"
As Feng Bujue listened to the recording, he studied the room again, but this time, with a closer look, he noticed a newspaper that looked fairly new stuck to one of the walls. That particular wall itself also deserved a closer look because it did not look as frozen as the other walls. Even though manmade snow was filling up the room, the temperature in the room was not that low, and the words on the paper were still readable. One of the more conspicuous headlines was "They are not that different from us". The picture attached to the article was that of a group of homeless people seeking heat around an oil can. The background was white with snow, and so was the ground. Of course, the article was written by Ash.
"You often appear at charity parties, showing yourself in front of the camera, but we both know that you have never donated to a charitable organization before. You inspired others to not look down on the homeless, but you never once showed respect to those more unfortunate than you. Your snobbishness and bigotry revolted the people around you. You once gave a voice to the elders through your articles, saying that they deserve more of our attention and understanding, but every year, you used your job as a reason to skip celebrating Thanksgiving with your own parents.
"Ash, more than once, you've stood on the moral high ground to criticize others, but your actual actions show that you are indeed no different from those you criticize.
"Now, you shall be given the chance to experience how it really feels like for these helpless souls. Inside this snowy room, there is a piece of paper with the password to unlock the door. All you need to do is use your bare hands to reach into the snow and search for that paper.
"Just like those people who died from the cold on the street, searching for that small piece of hope. You do not have any time limit, but if you find something, you'll be able to survive until dawn…"
When the recording ended, Feng Bujue was already shivering. The outfit given by the game ensured that the players would feel comfortable in an environment around twenty degrees, but once the temperature rose or dipped, the players would feel the corresponding effect to their body. This room that was no different from an icy cave that had a subzero temperature, and the tubes on the ceiling were still adding snow to the room, increasing the thickness of the snow layer little by little.
To maintain the dexterity of his fingers, Feng Bujue kept blowing his breath into his hands. He went through the recording quickly in his mind, and the last sentence was definitely out of place.
"Just like those who died from cold on the street… find something and survive until dawn…"
Based on his conjecture, this was a hint. A hard to understand hint, but a hint nonetheless.
Feng Bujue stood up again. The area under his knees was completely frozen, and even if both of his legs were submerged in the snow, it did not matter because the pain receptors had become made numb from the cold. He wobbled his way to the newspaper and studied the article and picture closely, hoping to glean some clues from them.
Feng Bujue knew that this was the best chance to look for clues. He would only resort to brute force when all else failed. If he just poked his hands into the snow and started scooping, in less than five minutes, his fingers would be frostbitten, and his body temperature would be lowered even more. That would cause his reaction to slow down and place him in some sort of a trance. In which case, puzzle-solving would become even more difficult.
"Something that allows homeless people to survive until dawn…" Feng Bujue voiced the sentence to help him focus. "Several people surrounding a can, burning some rubbish to keep the fire going until dawn? No, that is not it…"
Suddenly, the image of an uncle wearing sunglasses flashed through his mind. "Could this be it? The three important items to a homeless person—a box, a dog, and a radio."
Then he started moving.
The newspaper was stuck on the wall with cellophane tape fixed on its four corners. Feng Bujue removed the newspaper from the wall while trying his best to ensure the center part of the paper was not destroyed in the process.
"A dog is not possible, unless I build one from the snow. The radio… I guess the Walkman counts. That leaves the paper box…" The newspaper had already been removed from the wall. Even though it was missing four corners, that did not affect what he wanted to do. As mentioned earlier, the paper looked brand new, so the folding signs on it were quite conspicuous. Normally, a person would not have folded the paper more than twice, but there were signs that this particular piece of paper had been folded many times. This proved that it had been folded into a certain shape before.
Feng Bujue followed the folds and remade it into what it was. His hands were still not yet frozen, but he could already feel the effect of the subzero environment. In fact, in his menu, next to his Life Points, the special status box already stated that he was currently 'freezing'.
Even though the paper was missing the edges, following the folds, Feng Bujue managed to put it back in its original shape—a very small paper box.
Feng Bujue placed it in his hand to study. He turned it around and finally saw a string of letters and numbers where the edges met each other.
The letter format on a newspaper would never be the same overall; there would be the difference in font and size. For example, the size of the font used for the headline, body, and picture captions would be different. Feng Bujue noticed that those connecting letters and numbers had the same font and size, and they were all capitalized. They were spaced apart when the paper was flattened, but when folded into a box, they joined together to form the code.
"FM27.3MHZ…" Feng Bujue read. "The wave band for a radio station…"
He set the Walkman to radio mode. He got mostly white noise from the channels, and it was no different for FM27.3. But since he had confirmed that particular channel, he increased the volume and patiently waited. As he expected, after forty seconds of white noise, a throaty voice said, "Nine, five, two, seven."
Then, it was swallowed up again by white noise.
Feng Bujue rushed to the door and grumbled as he keyed in the password, "Is there a special significance to this string of numbers?"
The code was correct, and the door opened. Feng Bujue practically rolled out of the room. When he landed in the outside corridor, he started rolling around on the floor. Then, he stood up and did twenty squats. When he was doing all that, he looked at his status in the menu. His Life Points had dropped down to sixty-seven percent, but at least he had recovered from the freezing status.
Regardless, this was much better than him squatting on the ground and digging through the snow. He believed that would have cost him even more. Feng Bujue had always been unlucky when he played games, like the exercise that was no difference from searching a needle in a haystack; he had absolute confidence that he would never have found the paper until he had searched through every inch of the snow.
After clearing the second game, he did not close the Walkman immediately, and he soon discovered the secret of that particular channel. Every minute, FM27.3 would repeat the four digits.
After his body temperature rose back to normal, Feng Bujue continued forward. He believed that the scenario did not forget the condition where Ash had to get to the hospital to seek treatment within however many minutes after he escaped, or he would die. The initial recording stated that he had forty minutes to find the exit, or he would die from the toxin inside his body. However, unlike the Freezing status, there was no Poisoned status in his status bar. Therefore, it was impossible for Feng Bujue to tell whether the drop in his Life Points was due to the cold or the poison. In any case, this was not a poison that had a visible effect. If anything, it seemed more like a plot point. To put it simply, Feng Bujue had to complete the scenario within forty minutes, or it would be game over.
Twenty minutes had already passed. Feng Bujue did not take long to clear the second round, and combined with the five minutes he used to clear the first round and travelling time in between, when he reached the third round, he should have fifteen minutes left. The system must have incorporated the time needed for players who chose to scoop through the snow for the second round, and that would definitely have taken up more time. Therefore, in terms of time, the next round should be the last. If he finished that, Feng Bujue would clear the scenario.
