As I completed writing my sample draft for 'The virtue magazine' , I sent it to them with my info. I knew that I was going on a blind path as I hadn't received any special coaching for it, all I had was my love for writing. 
The next morning when I woke up, I felt fresh and new as an infant. It felt just like the old saying that, behind every successful day there is a good night sleep.
On checking my emails I found an email from the virtue magazine, saying that they'd like to meet me today in the afternoon. Well that was really fast in my perspective as the other companies in which I had applied took months to respond me and some others never did...
I got ready and attended other scheduled interviews and finally reached on the informed venue by virtue magazine. I had a talk with its manager and told him that I didn't have any experience in this field. He thought for a while and told me that, ''we'll let you know, if there's a concern regarding this.'' And then he ended our meeting without any further questions, greeted me and left. This interview was the best one I've ever attended. 
After a few days, I received 2 emails, one from 'The virtue magazine ' and the other from ' I - Tech commercial '. Both those emails said that I've been selected and I've been called to discuss the necessary terms and conditions. I was called on the same day for both of them with their timings almost clashing, so it was like either I live my dream or give it another try living someone else's dream. I was really tensed about deciding which way to choose. I didn't do anything after that, I just went to my room and slept.

This is a story about a guy named Arata Hozuki. He was forced to choose a career of his father's will and give up on his journalist dream and He eventually turns out to be a jobless failure. Will he give up and continue his life in misery or will he.....

On the beach, Yve has fallen asleep beside Vince after eating the food they bought. Her workload plus the things that Vince revealed tired her up.  Having understood all of this, Vince carried her back to the car and settled her in the front seat and drove back to the hotel.

After ensuring that Yve is comfortable on the bed, he went to the bathroom to freshen up only to be interrupted by Sylvan.
"What is it?"
"Primo, they found a report about Nyelle's mother. I sent the details to your email."
"Okay. Thanks."

Thinking that it must be urgent for even Sylvan to call him late at night, he went to his study to check his email. He didn't like what he read and for sure Yve wouldn't like this, too. But he's bound by the promise they made at the beach.

A few hours ago while eating on the beach
--

"Vince?"
"Hmm?" Vince said as he stopped eating to look at Yve doing the same thing to him.
"To be honest, I feel nervous knowing the dangers that being in the underworld might bring."
"Do you want me to quit?"
Yve looked at him and said, "As if it would be that easy to quit."
"So what do you want me to do?"
"Just be honest with me."
"...."
"I don't need you to tell me the specifics especially when it doesn't concern me. Don't make lies like you're going for a business trip or something. Just tell me you need to do something Primo-like."
"Primo-like, ei…" 
"..."
"Please, Vince. Other than that, I want you to ensure your safety as well. After that, I guess everything is fine with me."
"I promise."

Back at the present

Vince took a deep breath and turned his laptop off and decided to tell Yve everything tomorrow morning. Before heading for bed, he instructed Sylvan to inform the police station that both of them are coming in the afternoon for their interview.  He finally took a shower and slept. 

The following morning, Yve was the first one to wake up and so she took the responsibility to prepare a simple breakfast for both of them. A few moments later, she saw Vince coming down from his room with a brown envelope in his hands. She decided to ignore it thinking it was related to Gray Group.

"Good morning, King!"
"Good morning, my Yve." Vince said and kissed Yve on the forehead.

But his next actions caused Yve to be curious. Vince pulled back a chair for her and urged her to take the seat. Yve decided to follow and was handed with the envelope. She gave him a questionable look.

"As much as I would like to hide it from you but a promise is a promise." Vince said as he went to the kitchen and served the food on the table. 
Yve reads the contents of the envelope and was shocked to see the title. 
"Did you held them captive?" Yve asked.
"Yes."
"How are they?"
"Nyelle is doing much better than your step sister."
"I want to see Nyelle now. Take me to her."
Vince knew about this but didn't say anything. He sat on one of the chairs and looked at her.
"How about your interview in the police station?"
"Ahh!! I almost forgot! I'll call Sylvan to…"
"There's no need. Upon receiving the report late last night, I ordered Sylvan to postpone your interview. It will this afternoon with me." Vince explained.
"Thanks. So, will you take me to where you're keeping her?"
"Do I have a choice?"
"NO!"
"Then to avoid your dangerous methods, I'd rather take you there myself before my subordinates kill you."
Yve swallowed her saliva in fear of what she heard but in the happiness of Vince's decision, she hugged her and whispered,
"Thank you so much."

Today is another busy day for me. Work and home are the only places I go to for the past 3 years. The end of THAT relationship ended my happy, easy-going life. But then, when I think about it, it was not his fault but mine. My friends would tell me that I need to move on. I HAVE MOVED ON. It's just I don't want any side trips anymore in my life. I have my dreams and I am working hard for it. Little did I know what the destiny has installed for me.

"Mom, I still love her. She ended the relationship without any valid reason and I didn't agree."

"But son, what if the reason is that she doesn't love you anymore? Isn't that a reason valid enough for you?"

"I have to know it this time, mom. I did try to go out on dates but still failed. I think meeting her again will help me know what is happening with me."

"I guess I have no other choice. But remember, don't let her disrupt your plans and the family's business."

"I know, mom. Steph, book my flight to the Philippines tomorrow."

"Vincent! Why are you in so much rush?!"

"Because I believe that the early bird gets the worm."



Just wait for me, Yve. I will get you back by hook or by crook.

Qin Guan cleared his throat to suppress his laughter. He waited outside until the girl got dressed.
 "Don't stay around. Go!" Qin Guan shouted rudely at the model, keeping up his performance.
 "Oh, thank you. I’m leaving..."
 Trembling, the girl looked up and got a hold of his collar. She tried to keep her savior in her memory.
 The pores on Qin Guan's face were invisible in the dim light. There was a beautiful shadow above his lips. Of course, one had to ignore the torn uniform with the blue stripes, which was stinky in the summer.
 Lisa smiled in relief. She bowed before Qin Guan to express her gratitude.
 Qin Guan just wanted to leave as soon as possible. Everyone would have helped a little girl unwilling to do such a thing.
 "Go home as soon as possible. Take care of yourself."
 Qin Guan waved at Lisa and left the corridor with his backpack.
 He had to return his outfit to the assistant waiting for him. He thought she would blame him for being late, but she didn't say anything. Instead, she gave him a piece of paper with her phone number.
 Qin Guan was in a relationship though, so he threw the paper into a trash can after leaving the building.
 Giant colorful advertisement boards were hanging on the tall, cold buildings. Cars shuttled back and forth on the streets. Behind the bustling scene, sin was always lurking.
 Qin Guan relaxed only when he got home and found Cong Nianwei in the kitchen.
 "I’m back."
 "Welcome home."
 It was sunny the next morning. The fragrance of pine trees on campus covered the ugliness and darkness of the previous night.
 Several weeks after classes had begun, the students already had to take quizzes. Qin Guan was surprised by the random timing.
 The instructors didn't take inferior things like cheating into consideration. The answers to practical questions couldn't be found in a textbook.
 As his classmates were writing swiftly, Qin Guan handed his paper in. At Columbia, students could hand in their papers at any time, which saved them time for the next subject they had to study for.
 Qin Guan gestured at Xu Xiaoxiao to call him later and rushed out of campus.
 As expected, he got a notice from CK about the final interview. He had to have final sample measurements taken at the CK headquarters.
 If he didn't do anything wrong, after a small conference regarding the autumn collection, he would get a contract for the New York Fashion Week.
 That was his final goal. He sent the notice to Sister Xue.
 Considering her keen instinct for trends in the fashion circle, Sister Xue must have known about his intention to choose between those three brands.
 She didn't disappoint him. As soon as she got Qin Guan's email, she began to make future plans, even though it was late at night.
 First, she would release the news to his fan club, and then she would intervene with the promotion plan New Silk Road had decided on.
 Wearing his school uniform, Qin Guan went into the building without a pause.
 He looked professional, indicating his identity to the security and reception staff.
 He is definitely a new model of some designer.
 Sitting in a small meeting room, Qin Guan began to exchange information with other models, from whom he learned about the importance of the final test.
 The final test was not just for the chief designer and the designing department. It was also an important event for the photographers, the PR department and the operational department. They all gathered together that day.
 The small launching conference was not just about the next collection. It was also CK's final test of the market before the New York Fashion Week.
 There would be three top brands from France and Italy at the fashion week, which made CK, a traditional brand from the US, feel threatened.
 Unlike CK, which was very flexible, they were brands that tailored to traditional styles. Upper-class men always preferred extreme elegance though. CK had to stress on the trend.
 That was the reason they were using their full strength.
 As the models of the apparel group entered the bustling backstage area, the underwear models got off the stage and changed clothes behind the curtains. They turned around calmly and began to swiftly put on their outfits.
 A designer with all his tailoring tools hanging from his body asked the models to get on the stage one after the other.
 Qin Guan was pulling his sweater down when he saw Lisa staring at him with red cheeks.
 The girl had recognized her savior right away when she had gone backstage. However, the noisy crowd discouraged her from walking up to him.

Mr. Sakata Ikuzo stood up slowly.
His mouth was shut tight and something flared in his eyes. He had the eyes of a Samurai for a moment.
"I will check the temperature of the extruding machine's cylinder and the rotating screw, along with the temperature during pressing and the expansion. Manager Park, why don't you look inside of the hopper and check the carbon black and the vulcanization accelerator again? And see if the exact amount of the zinc oxide is there according to the recipe and also check the quality of the oil. Attack! I press the switch!"
The extruding machine started moving with a loud noise. The coolant came out in order to make the product cool."
"It's coming out!"
The new sample products started coming out. Mr. Sakata Ikuzo took a piece of the new product that just came out and put it into his mouth. It was a plastic piece and looked like a jelly. Mr. Sakata Ikuzo then said while chewing the piece,
"Wow, this is aromatic."
Mr. Sakata Ikuzo kept chewing the piece of the plastic with his eyes closed.
Jong-Suk was staring at Mr. Sakata Ikuzo. He looked nervous.
"He is not going to swallow it, isn't he?"
The way Mr. Sakata Ikuzo handled his work looked very strange to Jong-Suk, but he was in awe of Mr. Sakata Ikuzo at the same time.
"Even though he doesn't swallow the piece, some portion of plastic and oil or carbon will get into his body through his throat."
Jong-Suk now felt scared of Mr. Sakata Ikuzo.
"Japanese people… I certainly admit their high craftsmanship."
Jong-Suk collected the new sample products in order to measure their hardness and tensile strength.
 
Mr. Sakata Ikuzo was still chewing the plastic.
"Good. I see my enemy is slowly collapsing while bleeding."
Mr. Sakata Ikuzo smiled.
 
Mr. Sakata Ikuzo, the plant manager, Jong-Suk and the interpreter headed to Gun-Ho's office with the new sample product.
"President Goo, please take a look at the new product."
Gun-Ho examined the product. The product would be used as part of a car or an electronic device. It was extruded twice, and that made one part of the product hard and another part soft, which was folded. The degree of clearness was excellent. It seemed that they added some perfume to the product; it smelled really good.
"Good job all of you. Before we could celebrate our new product, we will have to pass the S Group's test."
"Of course, sir."
Gun-Ho asked for the sales director—Director Kim.
"Why don't you take the sample product and visit S Group? And meet with the vice president and tell him that we have successfully developed this new product."
"Yes, sir. You need to keep in mind though that there are tons of researchers at the S Group's research center and most of them have Ph.D. Their testing will be extremely thorough and really hard to pass. I will take our testing result and 20 sample products with me. I will also take Manager Jong-Suk Park as well in case they ask some technical questions."
"Sure. Manager Jong-Suk Park! Go with the sales director to S Group."
"Yes, sir."
Jong-Suk answered in a very respectful way.
 
Gun-Ho was looking at his smartphone when he received a call from the vice president of S Group.
"President Goo? I received the new sample product. Is this really made by your company?"
"Yes, we developed it."
"Where did you get the raw materials for this product?"
"The raw materials are from Dyeon Japan."
"Did they sell them to you without raising any issues?"
"They just sent us a few bags of the materials since we just need them to do some tests and make sample products."
"It would be nice to use the raw materials provided by Dyeon America from the U.S.; however, it will cost shipping. Anyway, we are in the process of testing the product."
"Okay, sir."
"The product looks good, but we will have to analyze to be sure. It will take about one week to complete our test. We say, 'small head, big ideas.' I guess that is true. I can't believe your company developed that product."
"Thank you."
Gun-Ho felt great.
S Group was one of the biggest companies in Korea. The company had been in the position for a long time. People must have an academic degree from the top universities in Korea in order to get a job in that company. The company also required a personality test to all job applicants in addition to the right education and work experience. After the job candidates passed all those tests, they then would be invited for an interview. It was extremely hard to get into that company; however, the salary was really good.
Gun-Ho felt great because his company developed the product which those researchers who had the proven best education, personality and experience couldn't.
 
It was the end of the day; Gun-Ho was ready to go home when Jae-Sik Moon in a security guard uniform came into his office.
"Hello, sir."
Jae-Sik gave a military salute to Gun-Ho to show his respect toward his employer. Gun-Ho smiled.
"What is it under your arm?"
"It's our high school alumni directory book."
"Really?"
Jae-Sik placed the directory book on Gun-Ho's desk. It was about 250 pages thick.
Gun-Ho smelled the book.
"It smells really good; I can smell the new book."
Gun-Ho opened the cover of the book and looked at the table of contents. The contents were divided into three sections. The first part was about the email addresses, phone numbers and current jobs of the alumni. The second part of the book was about how each of the alumni was doing these days. The part that talked about Gun-Ho drew Gun-Ho's attention. It said,
"Gun-Ho Goo: Acquired GH Mobile located in Asan City, Chungnam Province. Its sales revenue is 70 billion won, and it has 250 employees. He also invested in GH Parts Company in Suzhou City, China, which is currently being run by Min-Hyeok Kim. He also owns a real estate development company called GH Development in Seoul. He contributed to the fund for the entire printing expenses to have this alumni directory book completed."
 
Jae-Sik originally wrote that Gun-Ho contributed the fund for the entire expenses to make the alumni directory book, but Gun-Ho asked him to limit it to the entire printing expenses.
The third part of the alumni book was about the high school they all went together. It included news of their teachers, some of whom have already passed away.
 
"Thank you, President Goo."
"Stop saying that!"
"I will send this alumni book to all of our high school friends tomorrow. They won't talk about me like I swindled them anymore. It's because of you, Gun-Ho. I do truly appreciate it."
 
When the alumni book arrived at each of their high school friends, they were surprised.
"Wow. Gun-Ho Goo is the president of a huge company. It's a big company if they have 250 employees, right?"
"Gun-Ho Goo? That small guy who used to wear shabby sweatshirt all the time? How could this happen? Did he win a lottery or something?"
"You can't acquire that kind of company even though you win the lottery ten times."
"You can never know about someone's life or future."
The members of WestFacing Club, where Won-Chul Jo was actively involved as the president of the club, were astonished as well.
"I heard that Gun-Ho Goo made some good money, but I didn't know he made this much. We can't compete with him anymore."
The members felt half envy and half jealousy.

This is the story of a poor young man whose poverty even shreds apart their family willing to climb his way through society and into the top. A very realistic novel that moves away from fantasy and sci-fi and focuses solely on the issues of society and life.

Sylvester dropped the landline receiver after speaking
with Agent Dakolo, he sat back into his seat, trying to
decide whether to attend to the Agent's request first or to
follow after Henry. He chose the latter and got up from
his seat. He picked up his phone from the table and
proceeded out of the office.
Two minutes later, he was seated in the visitor's seat
behind Henry's table. Henry wasn't paying much
attention to him but was focused on his work on the
laptop.
'Here's what I wanted to show you' Henry quickly handed
a paper to Sylvester and turned back to his laptop. 'How
was the interview? What position did she apply for?'
Henry asked.
'There was no interview' Sylvester answered without
taking a look at the paper he was handed. 'She only came
to submit her credentials in person'
'I see' Henry said in a low voice, acting less interested.
'You thought I invited her over for an interview?'
'Yes, of course. You are the Boss here and you don't need
my permission to interview anybody' Henry answered
with a slight chuckle.
'But we already agreed to work with those available and
not to take in anyone else for now. I wouldn't go against
our agreement'
Henry paused and looked up, he fastened his eyes on
Sylvester's face. 'I didn't suggest that in anyway' He said
and turned his face back to the laptop. 'Oh! You thought
that was the reason I didn't agree to see her?'
'What else could be the reason?'
'I wasn't aware of the interview before, neither do I know
the position the interview is for so I didn't think I had any
business to do with her' Henry answered, keeping a light
smile on his face.
Sylvester remained quiet for a while, staring at Henry's
face. He had thought Henry was angry but Henry's
demeanor and words have proved him wrong.
'So what do you …' Henry paused on seeing that Sylvester
had not checked the paper given to him. 'Come on, read
what's there'
Sylvester picked the paper and scanned briefly through
it. 'When did you start working on this?'
'It wasn't my work, Dayo did it' Henry replied. Dayo was
the new employee that was taken in the week before.
'It looks good but we have to find how crackable these
codes are' Sylvester commented.
'That's why I was in your office then, I wanted to check
through your history log but I've been able to check it
from here'
'So, are they crackable?'
'Yes, it's even made up of very easy combinations'
'Does that make it usable or not?'
'It's not usable. It would be easily cracked by the
opposition'
Sylvester folded the paper and dropped it on the table.
'Agent Dakolo called some minutes ago, he'll be here in
the afternoon to get a report on all that we've been doing
concerning the breach we've been experiencing'
'Okay, I've been expecting him to ask for it. I prepared a
report already and he doesn't even need to come here,
we could mail it to him' Henry said.
'I think he'll also like to get some explanations, that's why
he wants to come physically' Sylvester put in.
'No problem, we'll be ready for him'
'So what do we do now with Mr Dayo's piece?' Sylvester
asked as he got up from the chair, ready to leave for his
office.
'We'll just keep it and keep working, we need something
deeper' Henry tapped the enter key on her laptop
keyboard in a loud manner and then relaxed into his
seat, signifying that he was through with what he was
doing. He stared up at Sylvester's face. 'You know we are
trying to entrap this group, so we have to be wiser than
they are. We cannot afford to use simple keys and scripts
in tackling them, that'll be making mockery of ourselves'
'Alright then' Sylvester shrugged and turned to leave.

**Kabakawa, Batagarawa Katsina, Katsina State. **
After lodging in an hotel for two days, the team finally
moved into the rented apartment for which they had
paid the rent fee for a year. The house wasn't too
expensive but it was big enough to contain all of them. It
was already furnished to their taste before they moved
in.
They had chosen a flat with three bedrooms in the two
storey building house with a total of six flats. Theirs was
located by the left side on the middle floor. Tarasha had
carefully chosen an apartment for them in an open area
this time, it would reduce the rate of unnecessary
suspicions. But they also had to be extra careful and
watchful.
It was Monday morning and work had begun already.
Cole was seated behind a table, composing an email on
his laptop to inform the Ata's foundation of their team's
arrival into the country. Benny was in one of the rooms
where he and Cole had chosen for themselves, arranging
the new arms and ammunitions into the wardrobe. He
neatly arranged the various sizes of bullets and sealed
explosives in a section. He arranged the pistols in another
section and long guns in another. The last section was
used to store his clothes and Cole's.
Aisha was also in her room, setting the place in the order
she wanted. She hissed on seeing the little bag of clothes
which she brought to the place. Although the bag was
actually the biggest bag amongst all bags of clothes the
team had brought, she still thought it to be small. Their
kind of job would not satisfy her desire to always take
her best clothes around town.
She hissed again as she saw herself in the mirror on
bending to arrange the makeup kits placed in front of the
mirror. What did she even need the clothes for now that
her hair was gone? She looked like a man, she thought.
She gave a brief mockery laugh at herself as she rubbed
her palms on the head. She then turned back to pick a
small case which contained more makeup kits. That
wasn't for her but for the team, the team would
frequently need to change their appearances on this
operation. Another small bag was lying beside the case, it
contained camouflage materials like artificial beards,
masks, wigs and even skinlike gloves.
Benny walked into the living room after he was done with
arranging the tools, he met Cole already closing his
laptop.
'Have you finished typing the email?' He asked as he
moved to sit on the couch.
'Yes, we'll see it when we come back from the boutique'
Cole answered, standing up with his closed laptop in his
hand.
'You want us to go now?' Benny seemed not too
comfortable with the idea.
'Yes, what else should we do now?'
'Why don't you send the email now and let's see their
reply, they may probably engage you in a chat' Benny
tried to convince Cole.
'I've sent the mail to the Boss first for vetting, until she
replies us we cannot forward it to the foundation' Cole
responded with a wry look on his face. 'Dust your lazy a-s
and let's go out to get the clothes now. I'll go get Aisha.'
With that Cole walked away, leaving Benny who remained
on the seat tiredly. For Benny, it was always fun to get
new clothes but this one was different, the clothes would
have to be disposed off at the end of the operation.

'You went this far?' Dakolo stared Henry in the face as he
read the report provided to him. 'Even the US CCTV
officials have not discovered up to this, nice job' he
commended cheerfully jamming his palms together.
'Thank you sir' Henry smiled.
'The only thing that looks similar in this their report is…'
Dakolo began but stopped abruptly. He bent to bring out
the report from the US CCTV from his small brief case
which was placed by the leg of the chair he was seated.
He placed the binded four pages report on Henry's table.
Sylvester was the first to pick up the report and open it.
Dakolo opened back Henry's report which was still in his
hands. He began to flip the pages until he got to the last.
'Here' he said, pointing a particular area on the page.
'This code looks similar to theirs'
Henry bent forward to look at where Dakolo was
pointing. Dakolo handed it over to him to have a better
view.

That was one of the most mysterious encryption code
Henry had ever come across. He had never seen the key
words anywhere else before and since he discovered the
script, he not been able to decrypt it.
Dakolo collected the report Sylvester was holding and
opened to the second page. 'Here ' he pointed another
area to for Henry to look at. The encryption script Henry
saw in the US report was similar to the one in his report.

'What??' Henry's lips vibrated as he fixed his eyes on the
code, looking slightly baffled. He took his eyes off to
Dakolo face. 'The assassin group is larger than we
thought, it's a worldwide organization'
Dakolo licked his lips slowly and silently as he watched
Henry fix his eyes again to the report.
'Can I…' Sylvester who was anxious to see the correlation
stretched forth his hand impatiently to collect the
reports from Henry.
'So now that we know that we are dealing with a
worldwide assassin group, we have to up our game'
Dakolo finally spoke. 'Your engineers have to be
informed about what they are dealing with. And I think
the corporation has to establish a strong connection with
the US corporation'
'Wow! I wasn't aware that there have been breaches in
the CCTV operations in the US too' Henry spoke in low
tones, relaxing his back in the seat.
'There have been' Dakolo replied him, tapping a finger on
the table as he stared into the air and inhaled. 'The breaks
always comes during the period of assassinations just like
ours'
'Hmm… Same strategies, same codes' Henry said
thoughtfully.
Dakolo stared at Henry's face for a moment. 'Henry E.G, I
need to ask you some questions' Dakolo stated after a
brief moment of silence.
Henry sat upright and adjusted himself to pay attention,
surprised at the Agent's sudden change of tone. 'What
questions sir?'
'You were kidnapped recently' Dakolo paused and stared
at Henry's face, noticing a change. It was obvious to him
that Henry wasn't comfortable with the new subject.
'Yes sir' Henry confirmed reluctantly.
'It happened after you got a job from the late Chief Jubril
Lawal?' Dakolo continued, making sure he maintained
eye contact with Henry. Henry noticed this and decided
to try as much as possible to hide his expressions, else
the Agent would extract every information from him
even if he tried to lie.
'Yes, I don't know if the job was for Chief Jubril but it was
brought to us by one of his workers' Henry answered.
'Chief Jubril sent him' Sylvester quickly put in.
Dakolo took a glance at Sylvester and fixed his eyes back
to Henry's face. 'Let's talk about your abduction first. It
lasted for less than a day. How did you escape?'
'I was told that they left us to go after they had a
disagreement amongst themselves' Henry replied.
'You were told?'

about that already.' Dakolo adjusted to a more
comfortable seating position and placed his chin on his
right fist. 'You mentioned during your interrogation with
the police that your suspect was Dare, Chief Jubril's son?'
'Yes' Henry confirmed with a nod.
'But you didn't mention to me that you've seen him
recently' Dakolo frowned.
'Sir, we've not really been able to discuss personal
matters since you came into town'
'That's true.' Dakolo paused and turned to Sylvester who
was already clearing his throat to announce his desire to
leave since he felt he wasn't concerned with the
questioning.
'Mr Sylvester' Dakolo called with a chuckle. 'You have to
wait, I also have some questions for you too.' Sylvester
nodded in reply and comported himself. Dakolo turned
back to Henry.
'Let's push the personal matters aside for now' Dakolo
continued with Henry. 'Did you ever think that the kidnap
could be related to the job brought by the late Chief's
PA?'
'No' Henry replied sharply after narrowing his eyes
thoughtfully.
'You don't think so?'
'Yes, I don't' Henry shook his head in negative to
emphasize. He thought again briefly. Omotara was the
suspect behind the number he was investigating, so was
it really possible that she had planned their kidnap.
'So you insist that it could have only been Dare Lawal?'
Dakolo pressed. 'Wait' he cut in before Henry could
speak. 'What was the result of your investigation?'
Henry's heartbeat increased thrice in speed. The question
he was scared of have been finally asked. Was he now
going to turn Omotara in? Knowing fully well that Agent
Dakolo would not stop until he fishes out who Alexander
Evelyn really was and probably even associate her with
the Chief's assassination which Henry believed Omotara
was innocent about.

Masanori Suzuhara usually contacted her classmates and seniors in Japan using Line, but she'd started using Wechat after coming to China. School hadn't started yet, and she only had a few Wechat contacts, including the counselor and Zhang Zian. 
She went back to the international student's residence, and set up a cozy spot for Snoopy. Pets weren't forbidden in the residence, but otherwise she would have to rent a room outside. Rent in China was cheaper than Japan and there was no need to pay unnecessary money. Still, she wanted to get to know more Chinese friends during her limited days in the country.　　
Although she'd taken care of former Snoopy in the lab for a long time, technically this was still her first time owning a pet of her own. She didn't know that beagles often annoyed the neighbors and she started to grow anxious after remembering the conversation between Zhang Zian and Qian Bowen.　　
This Snoopy was well trained by Zhang Zian at the pet shop, and only barked once or twice since it had arrived at the residence. She remembered Zhang Zian's advice and resisted the urge to look back at it. She stared at her phone, and didn't even turn her head when it barked.　　
She received lots of Line greetings from her lab seniors, asking her how she was doing in China, what it was like around her, and if she was being mistreated by anyone.　　
Masanori Suzuhara read the messages and smiled. Before coming here, all she knew about China was through TV news and costume dramas, which easily could have exaggerated the way things actually were. The seniors' worries were understandable.　
Snoopy barked two more times, but she continued to ignore it. After that, it stopped barking, and sniffed around the room the explore the new territory. 　　
Masanori Suzuhara had been paying attention to its movements, and felt reassured after seeing that it had finally stopped barking. The former Snoopys were kept in a lab that had good sound insulation, and even then, nobody was there during the night time. Nobody cared how much they barked. But the residence was different.　
She responded to all of the greetings from her seniors, and tried her best to clarify their misunderstandings about China, telling them not to worry as she tried to adapt to her new life.　　
In addition, some of her close girl friends were asking her if she'd been eating properly, and if she could ever get used to the food in China. They told her to take more local products from Japan with her the next time she travelled back.　　
The most frequently asked question, from either her seniors or classmates, was asking why she hadn't updated Twitter in such a long time, and if she had run into any difficulties or trouble.　　
Regarding this subject, she just told them it was a long story. She wanted to complain, but she wasn't able to actually say anything.　
After answering all of the greetings, she asked her seniors about the biomedical device company that had been cooperating with the lab, along with inquires about their contact information.
The seniors did some research and sent her the company's information.　　
Her phone vibrated. The delivery man had arrived at the international students' residence, and was calling for her to pick up her stuff. The cage she ordered from the pet shop had arrived.　　
Masanori Suzuhara put aside her other business, picked up the cage downstairs, paid for the courier, and then started to set up a cozy space for Snoopy. She was following Zhang Zian's advice. It was necessary to use a cage before Snoopy was fully trained.　
She put an old blanket in the cage, and put another layer of waterproof cloth on top, in case Snoopy peed or pooped while inside. The old blanket was actually only a few days old.　　
After that, she put a pair of old gloves on top of the old blanket. According to Zhang Zian, when she was not in the room, it would be better to let Snoopy keep on smelling her. It would calm the dog down, so it wouldn't panically bark for its missing owner.　　
The shopping bag from the pet shop was on the table, and the QR code was too glaring to be ignored. She took out another item from the bag. It was the last resort to stop the beagle from barking; a dog mask. The dog couldn't open its mouth once it was on, thus preventing it from making any noise. However, she didn't want to use this unless she had to. 　　
The dog mask was much different from a shock collar. It was defensive, practical, and useful.
When Zhang Zian recommended the dog mask to Masanori Suzuhara, he took the time to educate her about the reality of China.　　
When walking a dog outside, no matter how friendly the dog was, if it was not as obedient as a police dog, it would always be better to use a mask. Apart from preventing bad situations of biting and barking, the mask could also prevent the dog from eating unknown food. Every year, many dogs died from poisoning after eating random food from outside.  　　
If some person hated either the dog or the owner, they could place poisonous bait in their residential areas. The dog would die as soon as it consumed it, leaving no time for medical aid. If a regular dog had not been fully trained to resist this type of food, it was necessary to put on a mask when it went outside, before something terrible happened.
She was horrified after hearing this, and immediately agreed to buy the mask.　　
After entering the cage, Snoopy barked a few more times. Maybe it didn't want to be locked up. But Masanori Suzuhara ignored it, opened her laptop, and started writing out an email using the contact information provided by her seniors. The email address they gave her was not an official company address, but the personal email of a business manager whom the seniors knew very well and often had drinks with.　　
The seniors asked her what her purpose was when they provided her the contact information. She replied that she had received a favor from a pet shop owner in China, and was trying to do something to return the favor.　　
She stated her identity and intentions in the email, hoping that the recipient would make an exception. After all, this company had only been selling their automatic dog washers in Japan, and not in other countries. Transportation was a major issue. An automatic dog washer was heavy and bulky, much bigger than common washing machines used in households. 　　
After sending the email, Masanori Suzuhara saw that Snoopy had already quieted down, and was staring at her while lying down in the cage. Its eyes looked a bit sad.　
"Good job, Snoopy," she said, praising it.　　
She let it out of its cage, and sat down on the cold floor with it, as part of her old habits. She trained it to sit, squat, and lie down with some treats.　　
Snoopy immediately got excited, and played with her happily. However, it wasn't responding to her training demands. Beagles were often too lively and difficult to train, as they were not obedient. Still, she knew that some beagles were trained as police dogs to detect drugs. 
"Woof!"　　
Snoopy jumped to grab the food out of her hands, and barked with disappointment after failing to do so.　　
Masanori Suzuhara quickly stood up from the ground and went back to her seat. She noticed that a new email had arrived.　　
The business manager replied to her email, saying that the company was not planning on expanding the automatic dog washer business in China just yet. But, the company was going to bring a machine to China to participate in a home technology exhibition. If they didn't mind, the company would consider leaving the washer behind, the one that was going to be used as a sample for the display. It would spare them the trouble of shipping it back to Japan. However, they needed to discuss the further details of the plan and they also couldn't offer free warranty services.　　
After seeing that its owner was ignoring it, Snoopy heistantly came over, circled her chair a few times around, sniffed her feet, and then stood up to put its two front paws on her leg, asking her to play.　　
Masanori Suzuhara was trying to focus on the email. She had to let Snoopy know that barking meant punishment, which included barking from being ignored and being without food or play. She'd heard about the trouble that Qian Bowen had encountered with his beagle. She must pay close attention, in order not to repeat the same mistakes and to avoid annoying others.　　
She read the email twice, thought about it, and then texted Zhang Zian. She was only the messenger responsible for relaying the message to Zhang Zian. Zhang Zian had to make the final decision, and see if he was willing to accept a sample automatic dog washer from the exhibition. 　　
Snoopy barked two more times and scratched her leg to get her attention. But it was only disappointed. The owner was acting like a wooden statue, focused on her work, and not responding to its behavior.　　
Zhang Zian replied quicker than she had expected.　　
He texted her back and said, he knew about the challenges from shipping, and didn't mind if it was a display sample from the exhibition. He was willing to buy it at the price of a new machine. As for the warranty, it was a shame, but he couldn't really do anything about it. The company didn't have a branch in China, and he understood their reasoning. If the machine broke while using, he was willing to pay for the repairs himself.　　
Masanori Suzuhara incorporated Zhang Zian's reply in her email, and sent it back to the business manager.　　
Snoopy laid down by her feet sadly, and looked up at her from time to time. It seemed to have accepted the fact that she did not like to be disturbed while working, and had to wait for her to finish.　　
After it had calmed down, Masanori Suzuhara leaned over, placed it on her lap, and combed its hair with a small brush. She said gently, "Snoopy, don't bark, and don't annoy other people. Otherwise, I wont play with you."　　
Despite the fact that it was named Snoopy, it was actually a female dog. Female beagles were quieter than the males. The one that Qian Bowen had owned was male, and barked more for that reason.　　
Snoopy laid on her lap comfortably and let her brush its hair. It didn't bark at all.　　
The business manager replied to her email again, saying that they appreciated the accommodation of their Chinese counterparts. He also brought along some good news. Since the voltage in Japan was 110V, not compatible with the voltage in China, to ensure a successful demonstration in the exhibition, the company would bring a special voltage converter to China and give it to them with the machine for free after the exhibtion.　　
Masanori Suzuhara tapped her forehead, and thanked them for being so considerate. She hadn't thought of this issue before. If they had gotten the automatic dog washer, but couldn't use it because of its different voltage, she would have been so embarrased.　
She informed Zhang Zian of the latest news, and successfully fufilled her role as messenger.　　
"Great job, Snoopy. You're being really good," she said to it gently.

We'll return them to you when you leave."
"Please rest assured, Madam Lans, we NBC staffs don't have the habit of interviewing people with weapons." They walked through another long corridor and finally came to a huge classic carved mahogany arch at the end of the corridor.
