Han Zhiling and Qin Jiahao gaped at the revelation. They were both surprised that Lu Xinyi was able to tweak the usual recipe for the tempura batter. Both wonder at the extent this woman could improve one's dish without guidance.
"But why Japanese mayonnaise?" Qin Jiahao expressed everyone's curiosity.
Lu Xinyi opened her right hand, revealing her palm to everyone as she explained the reason behind it.
"I used Japanese mayonnaise as a special ingredient to make sure the batter stays crispy and fresh. There's also a science behind it. Eggs are usually used to make the batter, but this often makes the tempura very oily and soggy. However, by using mayonnaise instead of egg, the emulsified oil from the mayo disperses into the batter which doesn't leave any moisture in the batter so the tempura stays deliciously crispy.
"As the temperature of the oil in the batter increases, the surrounding water also evaporates more easily. The moisture in the batter evaporates, creating bubbles and leaving a crispy texture. Japanese mayonnaise does not use the whole egg and is different from the whole egg mayonnaise."
She then faced Headmistress Han to explain her method.
"To maintain consistent oil temperature, I cooked the rest of the ingredients in small batches. The vegetables were fried at 350-degree Celsius for about two and a half minutes for most. The key point of crispy tempura is in its batter. When gluten forms in the batter, it will not be super crispy. So we need to make the batter carefully."
Lu Xinyi was thankful that making tempura was one of the dishes Chef Kawashima taught her. She learned that the difference between good and bad tempura was the batter—the goal was a light, crisp coating that doesn't absorb oil when fried.
Chef Kawashima had taught her several important steps for achieving this texture. First was not to overmix the batter. When she stirred in the water, she had to mix very gently just until the dry ingredients were moistened. She didn't dare to attempt to work out the lumps, or the batter will become heavy.
Secondly, the water she mixed in was very cold. This will make a cold batter that will remain light when fried. Next was to mix the batter just before frying. Making it ahead will produce a heavy coating.
Also, drying the shrimp and veggies well before dipping them in the batter would help the batter adhere. She also needed to be sure that the oil was at the proper temperature. If it's not hot enough, the batter would absorb the oil before it cooked; and the result would be greasy tempura.
"What about the dipping sauce you paired up with the tempura? It's subtly sweet and flavorful. It's a really tasty and sort of sweet sauce that goes perfectly with tempura," Han Zhiling inquired, curious as to how Lu Xinyi was able to come up with it.
"Tempura is most often served with a tentsuyu dipping sauce—this is made from dashi soup, mirin, and soy sauce. For this dipping sauce, the dashi is laced with soy sauce and mirin and punctuated with fresh-grated daikon and ginger."
Please with her explanation, the three judges moved on to her salmon sushi and tasted it.
Meanwhile, the audience went insane and started discussing the differences between Lu Xinyi and Ye Xieren's bento boxes.
"Miss Lu is really worthy of her spot at the Cream of the Crop. She became a Cerberus that regular students need to face before entering the top rank of the academy."

Back to the judges, the three were satisfied with the nigiri sushi Lu Xinyi made for them. There were different types of flavors found in sushi, but the one thing everyone should know was that sushi doesn't have an overpowering flavor. Neither was it bland.
Lu Xinyi's sushi had balanced flavors mixed with its ingredients. Chefs whose expertise was sushi would add various ingredients, not as filler, but to balance out its taste for combining saltiness, sweetness, and the pure savoriness one would want in sushi which Lu Xinyi was able to achieve.
It had the right amount of sushi rice topped with fish with wasabi in-between. This sushi tasted very creamy from the soft rice and with the right amount of melt-in-your-mouth goodness. It had a fresh and natural flavor as the fish was raw. The nigiri also has a bit of spice and tanginess from the wasabi between it.
The fish alone had a very creamy texture. It slowly melted into their mouth without a foul smell or taste. Moreover, it had a very fresh taste as if it were just freshly caught from the sea, taking the judges palate into an extraordinary gastronomic experience that they truly enjoyed.
Its taste all boiled down to the quality of ingredients used. Rice was one of the important factors. It had the right texture, which was slightly warm and fell apart in their mouths.
The fish used would be a bit cool and with the perfect and precise cuts. The salmon fillet Lu Xinyi used was creamy and had balanced flavors: not too fishy, but with a fresh taste.
"This sushi tastes amazing! I can't believe that Miss Lu was able to make such high-quality sushi that could only be found from the sushi chefs," Qin Jiahao said in awe. Upon tasting Lu Xinyi's sushi, he could easily differentiate and see the huge gap between her and Ye Xieren.
This woman had so much potential on her, and it was overwhelming that she was still considered an amateur. What could possibly happen if she reached the pinnacle?
Nigiri sushi was the most challenging and most technical sushi form. It most often consisted of a piece of sliced fish atop a long ball of rice seasoned with salt and vinegar and a pinch of wasabi nestled between them.
When judging the quality of a piece of nigiri, there were so many factors to evaluate which was why nigiri was deceptively sophisticated. At first look, it's just fish on rice; but sushi had evolved into a highly technical discipline. Every flavor, texture, and scent must be artfully crafted to create the perfect bite.
For Lu Xinyi to be able to make such a high-quality dish, it was unbelievable. Most sushi chefs spent years mastering the art, figuring out the perfect way to balance and master the flavors; and yet with her absolute tongue, Lu Xinyi was able to cheat her way to it.
Like mentioned, sushi must have the perfect balance of fish and rice. If there was too much rice, it would be too creamy. If there was too much fish, it would end up feeling and tasting too cloying.
Lu Xinyi's sushi didn't crumble when held. It had the right temperature, amount of vinegar, and other factors that make the rice correctly pressured without it being too hot or cold. It had a profound taste, and the main focus was placed on the fish.
Qin Jiahao regarded Lu Sibai's daughter in curiosity. Earlier, he was confident that his apprentice would have a chance to snatch her seat from her, but with tempura and sushi alone, Lu Xinyi was able to turn the table to her advantage.

"Hello."
Meng Fan looked up and smiled. "What a coincidence."
He had good memory, plus with his improved Observation, despite only having had a glimpse of the man, he recognized him as one of the flight's passengers. He just didn't know they'd meet again this way.
This was because Meng Fan got too many business cards when leaving the plane that day. This man in his fifties was also rather ordinary looking, so Meng Fan didn't look at his card closely, or he would have remembered the man's name.
Yoshikazu Ono grimaced. He thought to himself, "Did you really not see my business card? If you didn't, you should have at least heard, 'Please come visit Sukiyabashi Jiro.' Were you confused, or maybe you didn't understand what I said?" 
The man considered. Since M-san was already in his seat, he should have had a reservation. If he did, why didn't he remember anything?
While Yoshikazu Ono complained to himself, he was still very happy and excited that Meng Fan was here.
"Are you here by yourself? Or..."
Yoshikazu Ono wanted to call Meng Fan M-san, but he resisted. After all, they weren't alone, there were four other customers other than the employees here.
As they talked, a woman walked in. She took off her sunglasses. With her spectacular smile, everyone in the store, employee or customer, couldn't help looking over.
"Yoshikazu-san, we meet again."
It was obvious that Satomi Ishihara had been to the restaurant before and knew Yoshikazu Ono. After she walked in, she politely greeted the serious-looking chef and looked at Meng Fan with a bright smile. "You must be Meng Fan-san. Pleased to meet you."
"Pleased to meet you."
Meng Fan lightly shook her hand. The two of them sat down.
To be honest, he hadn't seen her shows, not even the live-action "Attack on Titan." He had seen stills from the shows, however, as well as her photobook.
She was indeed a goddess, with a bright but not scorching glow.
Meng Fan's date was Satomi? This wasn't surprising to Yoshikazu Ono. Everyone here, including the customers, saw Meng Fan as a mythical figure, so the meeting wasn't shocking.
Meanwhile, Satomi was surprised Meng Fan knew Yoshikazu Ono, the son of Jiro Ono, a Japanese national treasure known as the "God of Sushi." The man was also the inheritor of the craft and the future chef of the restaurant.
What followed shocked Satomi even more. As Yoshikazu Ono returned to the counter and began to work, Jiro Ono, the "God of Sushi" himself, came over and waved his son off. The older man looked at Meng Fan, "Is there anything you don't eat?"
At sushi restaurants such as this, there were three levels of dining: one, the chef took care of everything and one ate whatever was prepared; two, one ordered individual dishes; and three, prix fixe, with combos at different prices.
If the "God of Sushi" cooked, then one ate whatever he wanted to give you, you just had to say if there's any food restrictions.
Meng Fan shook his head with a smile.
Satomi grew serious. She looked rather nervous and also a little expectant.
The "God of Sushi" didn't even ask her.
The other four customers were so shocked their eyes grew huge. They had obviously done a lot of work before coming here. They knew how incredible it was having the "God of Sushi" prepare your food.
Unlike Meng Fan, who was clueless.
When everyone saw Jiro Ono take off his gloves, their eyes practically glowed. Meng Fan figured the older man had to be over 90 years old, yet his hands were in great condition.
The others knew sushi was three-parts taste and seven-parts gesture, so they stared at the sushi master's fluid hand motions. Meng Fan, meanwhile, was worried about the quantity of the food, and whether he would get enough to eat in this fifteen minutes.
As he had the first course of halibut sushi, he could taste the power of the God of Sushi. The sushi looked typical, but the taste was amazing, with a sweetness slowing emanating in his mouth. He could feel his taste buds being awakened. 
However, he also became hungrier.
The second course was the squid. It wasn't completely raw. The fish was blanched in hot water. Meng Fan could hear the cooking sound. After the squid was placed on top of the sushi rice flavored by the chef, it looked luminous.
Jiro Ono explained that the squid had fifty minutes of massage, giving it a great and unique mouth-feel.
The taste of sushi courses changed from bland to pungent. From white fish like halibut, squid, followed by silver-edged needlefish and mackerel, to red-colored fish like tuna, which was a minor climax of the meal. Then there were fish eggs, sea urchin, red clams and the like to cleanse the palette. Finally, the tuna belly was served as an apex of the taste journey. 
After 18 courses, there was an add-on course. Satomi ordered abalone, while Meng Fan ordered eel and tuna belly, which was already served.
Satomi held her breath when Meng Fan ordered, who also looked relaxed and smiley. She had to marvel to herself how daring Meng Fan was. Surprisingly, the "God of Sushi" agreed to his order.
Satomi could feel her worldview imploding.
After the follow-up course, it was the final course, or the legendary tamako.
After the meal, despite his hunger, Meng Fan was embarrassed to order more. The taste was fantastic; for many courses, Meng Fan didn't want to eat too quickly. He wanted the taste to linger.
He had achieved his goal for manga and enjoyed all these delicacies. Meng Fan was in a good mood.
The meal for Meng Fan and Satomi was definitely longer than fifteen minutes. The amount of sushi was also more than usual. Satomi was sure of it. Usually, it was 14 courses plus the tamako.
After they finished eating, they weren't rushed out; instead, the God of Sushi washed up, put on his gloves, and chatted with them. He focused on Meng Fan.
The conversation was just chit-chat, but this was still surprising to Satomi.
She remembered how a few years ago, she reserved a week ahead of time and was still refused. She finally ate here after they added a time slot after all diners left. The restaurant was very strict about the length of dining time.
The chat didn't last very long — about five minutes — before they were told they could leave. As they left, Yoshikazu Ono personally walked them out, something Satomi hadn't ever seen.
When they wanted to pay, Yoshikazu Ono stopped them. He warmly told Meng Fan to come again soon and that there's no need to make reservations.
What made Satomi speechless was how Meng Fan agreed without a hint of humbleness. He also told her, next time she'd have to pay, as he could skip making reservations but not the bill.
"Meng Fan-san."
After they left the restaurant, they had to walk upstairs from the underground area. Satomi asked curiously, "How do you know the Ono family?"
Meng Fan chuckled, "If I told you we were instant friends, would you believe me?"
Satomi shook her head. "This doesn't seem like it."
Meng Fan shrugged. "So..."
Satomi smiled and didn't press him. She asked, "Where do you live? My driver is outside, we can give you a lift."
Meng Fan shook his head. "Thank you. It's easy getting a taxi here. I'm really happy to have met you. I hope to see you again next time. My sister sends her regards."
"Same here. Thank you for the sushi. I've been here a few times, but this is the first time I've had the 'God of Sushi' make my food. If I go to China to visit Caiwei, I hope you can take me to eat Chinese food."
"Absolutely. This is my pleasure."
When Meng Fan saw Satomi's assistant or agent looking over, he waved and left.
He was in a hurry to leave since he was still worried about those rumors with Su Qingcen. He didn't want rumors with Satomi. While it was unlikely, and even kind of flattering, it wasn't good for Meng Fan, as Wu Tong's warning still rang in his ears.
"Just like Caiwei, he's a charismatic, interesting, and cool person."
Satomi smiled, put on her shades, and left with her assistant in the car.
Meng Fan quickly got a taxi after he left. He went back to Bunkyo City. However, he wasn't going to Kodansha; he was looking for Wu Ji at the Tokyo Dome.


To reward Meng Fan for his bravery before his heroic death, the cosmos rewarded him with a 'system', sending him back in time to three months ago, alive.

Naru's Pov

I clung around hisoka because he picked me up again so didn't mind he's really warm as we go to the gate to go in I see everyone staring at us only if they new I was like this guy, I chuckled a little hisoka looked at me because I giggled I just smile at him and we go through the gate and when we got there their were two in intructors one pretty lady and a tall fat dude breathing in and out smoke or something I think it's funny when they saw me and hisoka they looked at us weird " The Second Phase of the exam takes place in the , where the examinees meet (and proctors) I'm and this is a test to find and cook it into a meal got it!" menchi said I was smiling because I love cooking and everyone around her looked depressed because they don't know how to cook than everyone started yelling at her she looked like a bull ready to strike her prey with her horns they shouldn't have  done that and menchi got pissed at them and punched a guy into a shead which shut everyone up I giggled a little everyone in the group smiled at me because I laugh not caring a guy went through the shed "Hey kisoka why is everyone smiling at me is it because I laughed" I asked him confused they should have looked at me weirdly "Because you have a cute laugh" he whispered to me which made me pout with my bottom lip out and turn my head he chuckled a little " You have to find a these special kind of pig and cook it the way we like it. OK GO!" menchi said "we are going to nail them kit you are the best at cooking and I'm good at thinking up dishes" karma said grinning 'yeah we are' and I look at hisoka "You know how to cook" I asked him "No idea, do you?" he said happily I chuckle a little "Yep" I say getting down and zoomed in to the forest and killed two pigs and brought them back in likki-dee-split and some people were there and they looked at me amazed I could carry them myself which made me chuckle I gave one to hisoka and he ruffled my hair "Thanks naru-chan" he said holding the meat in one of his hand's I  smile and gone to the cooking station next to killua at the end of the last row "Hey naru" killua said "Hey killua, what are you making?" I ask him "I'm cooking the meat of pork that's all I'm doing" which made me look at him like are you stupid "Ok killua" I say trying not to laugh "Kit lets make ramen" 'ok' I said cutting my raw meat and bones together perfectly with my katana which made everyone look at me. After I was cutting it, I smiled innectly which made them smile and go back to cooking their meat after that I pulled out a pan and started a fire then put my meat and bones in and pulled out oil out off my seal and put it in the pan with some spice, I got when I got the pigs I even got garlic and green onion, and waited for it to sizzle then I start to move them around when they were done I removed the meat and boiled the bones with a carrot, celery, and 3 or 4 cups of water and waited for it to boil, after it started boiling I took the weird stuff on top and let it simmer but it takes 3 hours so I used so chakra to make my food go 2h58min a head and I got two minutes to cut me garlic so I grad out of my seal my drainer, 2 other pots, a cutting board, and a sharp knife. After cutting my garlic on the cutting board I leave it there and I go over to my soup and grabbed the handle of the pot and poured it in the strainer that is going into the other pot getting out the veggies and meat bones and put the new pot with the broth in it on the fire again I grabbed my garlic and put it in with some salt I had it my seal and mixed them together then I made my noodles which I went into the forest and got a couple of eggs and got floor from my seal then put them in a bowl with some water and mixed them making noodle mix I took out the dough and cut them thin and long stripes and put them in boiling water to cook them for a minute after they were done I put them in the broth a cut my green onions really fast and grabbed 2 bowls out of my seal and put the ramen in each putting in some meat and my green onion and went to the counter and boiled up a quick egg cut it in half with no shell on it and put on half of the egg in each bowl and grabbed my bowl then brought it down to the judges to eat and placed them down "Ha! Kit there drowling and everyone else failed HAHAHAHA" karma said laugh in my head as I put down my bowls of ramen the chubby guy vacuums it all down 'Is that guy even human' "Who knows kit but it was interesting to watch hey" karma said I chuckle a little as for the woman she scarfed it all down "you pass" the lady said I smiled and everyone went ballistic it was funny as hell "SHUT THE HELL UP NOW I'M GIVING YOU ANOTHER CHANCE MAKE US SUSHi" she yelled and everyone stood there silent not even a pip until "What the hell is sushi" a guy said god dammit wrong answer "These guys are fun kit" karma said laughing his ass off, menchi on the other hand went hey wire and made them scurry away like kids and I went up to her and asked "Would you like me to make sushi too" I ask her in my cute voice she patted my head and said "no you already passed you can go around doing whatever you want" she said smiling so I went off in the forest to see what people are doing I see people fishing good so I went up to a person and asked "what are you going to do with that" I asked curiously "I'm going to cook the fish and give it to the judge that's how you make sushi right I heard there's fish so ya" the dude said making me laugh so hard on to the ground which made everyone stare at me so I get to leave but hisoka came up to me picking me up "I'm taking her bye" he said and disappearing with me and we end up in the forest somewhere with him slamming me into a tree "So darling you know how to make sushi right" hisoka said to me in a seducing voice making me blush a little "Sure do want me to help" I say back in a seducing voice making him blush a little "ok let's go" he said picking me up "got your fish" I said giggling "yes" he said in away which made me laugh. As I take him back I gave him a knife and cutting board out of my seal and told him to clean the fish after to cut it in small but thick slices of fish when he was doing that I went to get a rice plant and put it on a plate that I got in my seal, If your wondering why I have my seal on me is because I never knew what might happen to me so I keep everything I have in the seal, after he was down that cutting the fish I told him to wash it and I pulled out a bowl and told him to put it in here then I set it down on the counter then I told him to unwrap the rice plant and take out the rice and leave it on the plate after he did that I used my fire Charla using my hand signs and made the rice dry faster then I pulled out a pot told him to start a fire after that I pour water in the pot and the rice and wait a minute until they were done after the rice was done I told him to take it off the fire and took out a drainer and drain the water then put in a bowl I pulled out of my seal and took out this sauce that makes the rice sticky and took out my seaweed and told him to cut it in stripes then I told him to get veggies he came back with carrots and cucumber I wonder where he got the cucumber from? So I told him to cut then up small strips and up put the rice it a straight strip line then put the seaweed on top then cut them into long rectangles then put a price of fish and a piece of carrot and cucumber in after roll them and put it on the plate and I pulled out some soy sauce on the plate and when he was done, it wasn't as perfect as when I make it, it looked decent I think he could have done better oh well, what ever that girl might not think so whatever anyways. everyone else failed for just handing in fish so the person who runs it probably will come or I will kill most of the people for fun or I will just keep on going eh. "Ha everyone failed again even that hisoka guy you helped his plate was a little messy" she said 'this is just halirious' karma said laughing his head off gosh people are stupid then I hear a huge machine coming I wonder what it can be when I look up there was a huge flying thing and it landed on the outside of the gate a old man came out as he walked down to menchi he eyed me and looked down to my breasts that made me blush a little and he looked away and talked to menchi like she was a child for failing all of us then he got a idea and we went to her favorite place to go and were boiling a egg. As we walk there hisoka came up to me "Hey naru-kun" he looked at me with a smile "You know that pervy old man was coming didn't you" I said looking him in the eyes "I don't know what your talking about" he said smirking, he pick me up into his arms and I put my arms around his neck "So how is he a perv old man" hisoka said chuckling at that "He looked at me then to my breasts" I said in a whisper monotone voice "Well I can't blame him you got nice ones" said a man right beside us huh he must have good hearing so I wiggled out of hisoka's hold and went up to the guy and punched so hard that I broke his jaw and sent him flying and went back to hisoka who is laughing then calm down and picked me up in his arms "Well that was interesting but I can see why people will say that" he said looking down at my breasts "don't make me smack you hisoka-chan" I said in a serious voice which made him chuckle as we got there, there was a huge cliff and there was big eggs on weds as menchi was about to talk "Hey kit let's go down their, there is a wind current that can fly us back up after we go down it will be more fun than walking up using Chakra" 'Ok let's go' I get out of hisoka's hold and walk to the edge and walked off I move Chakra in my feet and land perfectly on the we'd string and go to an egg picking it up then the wind picked up and went flying up and landed on the ground standing when I looked up everyone was staring at me "That was great" she said smiling. 'I want to kill someone so badly' I pout and everyone looks at me pout "What's a matter naru" Gon came up to me "It's nothing" a say to gon in a nice voice "Hey naru why do you keep on hanging with hisoka" the old man said and the rest nod in agreement "I don't know" I say shrugging my sholders they just look at me and started laughing "Ok" they said "Want hang with us to the way to the next exam" killua said to me I nod my head yes "Hey for the food where did you get the pots and pan stuff" a blond dude said "That's a secret" I said giving them a wink with my pointing finger of my lips that made them blush "Well anyways i'm kurapika nice to meet you" the blond said "I'm lerio" said the old man "Nice to meet you kurapika-kun and lerio-kun, I'm naru" I say in a nice tone of voice.

The two quietly followed Ray as they had a couple of thoughts to settle in their heads. Their enemy was six feet away from them and each had a history with each other's family. They both felt conflicted about each other and their friendship. 

As the walk continued, so did the silence. While the Senju and Uchiha were settling their feelings in their head, Ray was thinking about how to cook the dishes well. He wanted to make it spicy as he loves it but he wasn't sure that they would too.

Soon, they reached his house and both Madara and Hashirama noticed that if they really had not focused while traveling, they just might have missed it. It blended in too well with the trees as if it was a part of it. The tree itself gave shade to the house to where it can reside in the darkness, hidden in plain sight. In general, one would not notice the house at all due to the allure of the beautiful forest.

 It was a magnificent image of vibrant green leaves reflecting the sunlight as the gentle cool breeze and the earthy smell would let one feel the true happiness of nature. The seemingly rough bark of the trees had a smooth balanced texture to it with no bumps and the dancing flowers would be seen everywhere. Even some animals lived here peacefully.

The trio finally arrived at their destination and Ray opened his door. Inside the house contained three rooms. There was the living room, the kitchen, and the bathroom. It was somewhat modernized but with the lack of materials, it can be considered a hybrid of two eras. 

The living room had a bed that was made of soft earth as the floor and cleaned animal fur as the bed itself. There was quite a bit of it as it looked inflated to the human eye. Normally the fur wouldn't just stay together but using soft earth and hard earth transition from [Earthbending], he used earth like a glue to hold the fur together. This was also applied to the leaf blanket he made for himself when he was cold at night. One could tell that the leaf blanket probably used all of the leaves of one tree in order to create it. Ray would usually use chakra to keep it 'alive' so that the leaves don't die so quick and become fragile. 

The bathroom did not need many details except for the fact that it had a mirror, a sink, and a toilet for Ray, provided by the system. 

In the kitchen, there were wood cabinets that were created by Ray, instructed by Eden on how to create it, which were used to hold his cooking tools and other ingredients he managed to gain in his hunting or buying from shops that he found. Other than that, it was pretty basic in general.

Ray casually walked to the kitchen and started cooking. He already had all the ingredients ready and it was time to cook it. The other two were amazed by how simple but elegant this household was. When they decided to sit on the bed, they realized how comfy it was. It was like being caressed by nature while peacefulness simply took you to another land. They dozed off.

Seeing that the boys were asleep, Ray chuckled.

Ray: 'At least they won't fight or bicker in the house. Anyways, back to the cooking.'

Ray was using a modern stove along with a large pot to cook for the first meal. Mixed mushroom soup requires a variety of mushrooms, vegetable/mushroom broth, herbs, and some other items. All of which are collected or substituted.  

Using a knife, Ray first chopped some mushrooms that will be a part of the soup. Turning the stove on, Ray got the large pot and set it on the stove. While waiting for the stove to heat up a bit, Ray gathered the other ingredients. As soon as he realized that the stove had a good temperature, he put the broth in first. Letting it cook for a bit and then putting in the combine chopped mushrooms, shallots, tamari, and vinegar. Turning the high heat to low heat, he covered the pot and let it simmer. The goal was to soften the mushrooms and make it tender so it could simply melt in one's mouth.

Since he had time, he decided to start on the Sushi. Laying down the seaweed on the wooden board, he sets it down flat so it looked like a rectangle to him. He put the warm prepared rice on the seaweed until all parts were covered and then flips it so that now the seaweed is on the rice. Putting some thin-sliced cucumber on the seaweed and some long crusted shrimp, he then decided to roll the Sushi so that now it looks like a long cylinder with rice as the outer layer and the seaweed as the inner with cucumber and shrimp in the inside. Ray then put some white tuna on the rolls and used his hands to firmly shape the roll but not using so much force that he destroys the Sushi. After it has been shaped, one roll would become eight Sushis and since he made three, he had twenty-four Sushis. Then, he put some spicy mayo on top of them and used his [Firestyle Jutsu: Small Combustion] to replicate a torch using his fingers. With a light drizzle of sweet oyster sauce, the dish was done. Of course, he then decided to put the fish eggs on top the Sushis as well, giving it the last touch of decoration and more delicious flavor. 

With the dish done, the golden glory that is now the Sushi shined like the Sun. Simply the light smell wafting from it almost made him crazy and with the mushroom dish done being simmered, his stomach was rebelling against him. Since the mushroom dish was almost a little too thick, he decided to add some broth to it to have it more in a liquid state and added some herbs in to enhance the flavor. He was slowly stirring the soup and when Eden notified him that it was done, he got three big wooden bowls and started pouring soup into each one. He decided to add some of the other mushrooms he did not add that was chakra enhanced and some of the other herbs. This enhancing let the mushrooms be its full glory without being cooked and contain maximum flavor. With all dishes done, Ray decided to wake the sleeping princes. Of course, he didn't even notice that they were awake and as soon as he turned around, all he felt was a gust that passed him. Ray was flabbergasted.

Ray: 'Their speed is ridiculous! So these are shinobi! Haha, this is going to be fun.'
"I already served them to you on the table. You may start eating."

Madara and Hashirama immediately went for their respective dishes. In Madara's case, as soon as he took a bite of the Sushi, he nearly passed out from happiness. The fishiness of this food was perfect and did not disgust him but rather it enhanced the flavor. Every chew brought out more and more and he thought that he actually was swimming with the fishes. 

Hashirama, on the other hand, looked like he was ascending to Heaven. The satisfied smile on his face showed it all. In his case, the soup was mellow and nice. With its yellow shimmer, it really did look like gold. And the mushrooms. What is there to say? The mushrooms were bursting like bubbles in his mouth and the different variety of mushrooms helped each other rather than clash. Every spoonful was luxurious to him and he treated it like treasure.

Ray smirked watching this scene. An Uchiha and a Senju eating lunch with smiles on their faces. If only he had a phone to send some pictures to their clans.

Ray: "If you are done with your food, come outside after putting the dishes in the kitchen. I want to know my friends a little more.", Ray said with a small smile as he walked out. They both nodded and quietly continued to eat without shame.

Ray did not want to eat it because he had some other plans for lunch. Looking around and making sure no one was around, Ray asked Eden to open the inventory and take out the egg dish. So far only food items can go in the inventory but it is still very useful. Looking at the masterpiece in his hands, he almost felt like he was committing a sin, thinking about eating this dish. This was the God-Tiered Egg-Fried Rice made by Yuan Zhou.

Sam POV

The meadow was intense expanse of green extending limitless under the infinite sky.  The inflexible grass danced to tune of wind enjoying its own repose moment.  The Queen of the Prairie and Gaillardias held cacophony colors among the newfangled green; its yellowish scent and whitish paint stood prominent. The bees moved around with its usual buzz of excitement filling the nature with its melodic tune. The breeze swigged flexibly and gently resonating to the diapason of calmness; crickets hoped exuberantly applauding the breeze for the entertainment. Colonies of ants crawled and hid behind the pebbles embarrassed and infatuated to the breeze dance. 

The grass felt mushy and marshy underneath my skin; my head touched the cold ground and the eyes gazed thoughtlessly to the omnipresent sky. I stretched my hand and swaying in undirected movements trying to match the pace with the fleeting cloud. 

The cool air seeped through my pore rejuvenating and calming every stressed cell within me. The past days have been really difficult; walking on the endless path with full effort to reach the light at the end of tunnel yet to be circulated back to where it begin was indeed disappointing. It's been a month and there was no news of Elisa, we have been working hard to gather everything and anything that could point to her but there seems to be some invisible force dragging her far away.

The sky was vast and widespread neither with any starting nor ending point; it seemed to be a circle swirling endlessly.  The sky is powerful and everything notices its existence and respects it but the only thing which completes it flutters away from it and disappears. The sky is a large void and so is my mind, I am just a mere person without a heart and a puppet waiting desperately for his darling to return soon. 

I was lost in my own wild thoughts when Joseph sat near me, his face a bit bushy with light beard bustling around his chin and some minor bruises marking his cheek, he still looked good. It was always a wonder how he managed to look young despite being in late forties. He sat near me gazing the seamless sky, his face held that pensive and smiling expression which reminded me of those times when we were young and free. His eyes stared to the nothingness like me as his lips gently rose to draw an artistic smile on his beautiful face.

He asked me whether I remembered those times when we used to sneak out in the middle of the night just to grab some sushi. There was this local shop nearby the bus station which was 5 km away from my home, the shop was old and traditional but its sushi was the best. Whenever I felt lonely or sad, Joseph used to always take me to that shop for a treat. 

The seaweed lay bare beneath the rolling mat as the tender and squishy rice covered his bare green skin. The orangey carrot and the fishy fish aligned sideways as they lay top of the rice. Topped further with eggs, cucumber and avocado, the ingredient was rolled into a cylindrical shape which was further cut into small cross sectional piece. I still remember the fishy taste when Joseph fed me my first sushi, the rice was chewy, the fish fresh and nutritious and the vegetable complementing it with its crunchiness, the dish was awesome.

We laughed aloud reminiscing those beautiful times yet I felt guilty for causing him immense pain.  I never thought that I would be wrong to judge people but I was awry to judge him as murderer after listening to some mere gossip. I felt apologetic towards him and sensing my guilt he gave me a sweet and warm smile which melted the remorse filling me. We were lost in our past world until Joseph asked me whether he could take part in search of Elisa.

He was the best in investigating thing and I knew that with his experience and knowledge he would find her. With the agreement of him being the leader in this search mission, we headed towards the mansion. We were walking silently down the path admiring the nature surrounding us and thanking the Mother Nature for creating a blissful place.

George, one of my most trusted men came running down the path, stomping and crushing the soft grass beneath him, he was breathing deep and his face was red with sweat dripping profusely from his face. I was worried thinking that something might have happened while I was away enjoying the stress free environment but to my amazement he informed me that Elisa was back in one piece and she was waiting for me in my mansion.

I ran as fast as I could, it has been a month and I really needed to see and ask her everything. I was happy as well as worried and with all those emotion buried and churning within me, I jogged fast as I could. Passing down the man made path way and fountain I reached the front door and headed to the main lounge room.  My men bowed to my presence but I had no time to reciprocate their respect.

Her hair was tied tightly to a bun with some tendrils hanging loosely from the side, she looked healthy despite of being kidnapped for a month and her face was glowing as usual with her eyes having those same curiosity and brightness. She was wearing a skinny jeans complemented by a black blouse which perfectly showed her beautiful curve.

When she saw me she gave me the most dazzling smile and it reminded me that  I missed her way too much. When I was in my dreamland, she would be there sitting near me and consoling and comforting my guilt and stress. She looked prodigious as usual and without much wastage of time, I pulled her into a strong warm embrace. 

I felt full and my entire void was filled up, I could sense that light at the end of the tunnel and I was happy that she was safe and sound. I had so much to ask her but I knew she needed some rest and time.

Joseph and George reached soon and I immediately introduced Elisa to Joseph. Joseph was my family and I wanted Elisa to be my family too but I knew I had to work harder to get her attention. And I was shocked to know that Elisa already knew about Joseph and Elisa stared straight at Joseph and he in his usual cool demeanor stared her back. It felt uneasy sensing there were some secret between them.

I wanted Elisa to rest and stay in the mansion for some days but she refused and asked me to sent her back to Jack as soon as possible. I don't know what happened to her but she looked as if she had some urgent things to say to Jack. I knew it was not my business to ask about that and without any more awkward talk I decided to drop her myself. 

Joseph was never the type to get into someone's business but suddenly he asked me whether he could come with me to drop her. There seemed to be nothing wrong with taking him so I unitarily decided that we could join us.

I asked whether it was okay for Joseph to join us to Elisa and I hoped she would agree but to my astonishment she flatly refused to take him with us. I know Elisa was never the type to make others sad without reasons but today she was indeed weird and from what I sensed she really needed her space today with Jack. Her being alone with jack made me sad but I decided to respect her decision.

It was awkward refusing Joseph after agreeing and then refusing his request and not only that he did looked a bit desperate to be with us. Today everything was weird because the cool Joseph who I was used to seemed determined to be with us and on other side Elisa was adamant that he was not allowed.

 Elisa even threatened me that she would go by herself if we take Joseph. I couldn't risk her safety so we were headed towards Jack home without Joseph. I looked back  and gave him a "Please understand me" smile  and with much difficulty he gave me a fake smirk. With the start of the engine of my Audi 8 we were running on the winding road.

"Even before I could go near him, I felt his hand on my waist. His skin was as cold as ice and it sent shiver down my spine. There was hint of admiration and love in his eyes and it really confused me. I felt that he liked me but that thought was totally absurd. His pinkish lips raised, it made my legs give away. I felt his hand tighten around my waist and slowly engulfing me in a tight hug."

It wasn't long when I heard, "Haru? Time to get up."

I opened my eyes. Though still damn exhausted, I obediently got out of bed. My body was still sore, so I took things slow. After a shower, I put on a pair of jeans and a sweater and then headed back out. After slotting my wallet and smartphone into my jacket pocket, Aiden and I headed out the door.
We came into the first-floor restaurant where the breakfast buffet was located.
"Haru. Aiden. Over here," Isaac called out to us.
I looked over to see the others had already found themselves a table and gotten a load of food, too. They were eager for breakfast, weren't they?
Aiden and I joined them, with Aiden taking up the empty chair at the end of the table and me next to Isaac.
"Looks good," I said, eyeing the array of delicious-looking food on the table. There was an assortment of English breakfast foods mixed with Japanese: bacon, scrambled eggs, toast, croissants, grilled fish, miso soup, rice, and more.
"Let's get ourselves some food," Aiden said to me.
I nodded, and we headed over to the buffet. Five minutes later, we were back, with Aiden's plate filled with the English version, and me with an assortment of the Japanese.
I sat down and after saying "Itadakimasu," I heartily dug right in. The miso soup was warm and delicious, as well as the grilled Saba. The side dishes weren't too bad, either.
"Haru, you look pale," Reo's voice came my way.
I raised my gaze to him and said, "Just a little…tired, that's all."
I noticed both Noah's and Mason's gazes directing toward Aiden.
Mason said, "I assume it's partially due to jet lag."
"And partially due to Aiden," Noah said.
Isaac said, "Bro, I know how excited you are at having Haru all to yourself, and in a flashy hotel at that, but remember Haru's health isn't great."
Aiden chuckled. "I know. I know. No need for you guys to remind me." He leaned toward me and patted me on the head. "I promise not to tire Haru out too much."
Eh? Not tire me out too much?
Connor laughed. "I don't blame Aiden. I'd do the same if I was in his position."
Isaac directed his gaze at the man. "What? Going all out all night with your girlfriend if you're in a flashy hotel like this one?"
Connor nodded enthusiastically. "Yep."
Isaac pulled a face and made a show of shivering.
Noah said, "You're a man, after all."
Connor nodded. "Wouldn't you do the same?"
Noah said, "Of course."
Mason chuckled. "It's like a honeymoon, isn't it?"
Aiden said, "You got that right."
A honeymoon. Was Aiden treating this vacation like a honeymoon of sort between us? I smiled. If that was the case, then might as well enjoy it.
After a hearty breakfast, we left the hotel and caught a train to our much-anticipated destination, the Imperial Palace in Marunouchi district, a short walk from Tokyo Station.
I had my smartphone ready to take photos as we were admitted through the gate along with throng of other visitors, both Japanese and foreigners.
"You're eager, aren't you?" Aiden asked.
I nodded. "I've been wanting to see this place," I said, giving him a big grin.
Aiden leaned toward me and said, "You're so cute with that happy smile of yours, I just want to kiss you. But, alas, I can't. Not here."
I felt my cheeks turn hot. "You…can do it later," I suggested, which made him laugh.
I enjoyed our time touring the Imperial Palace, and had even taken heaps of photos as well, so I was sure Jess wouldn't complain.
Once we felt satisfied having seen the palace, ticking it off our list of places to visit, we left and went in search of a good sushi restaurant for lunch. Reo found one for us in the heart of Tokyo Station itself, and we enjoyed our meal, with Isaac consuming so much sushi that it freaked Reo out. He was afraid we'd run out of spending money before the vacation ended, since we had put it into a pool so it was easier when it came to paying.
When we left the restaurant an hour later, Reo said, "That's it, no more fancy sushi during the trip until further notice." This, of course, made Isaac groan in despair.
In the afternoon, after a little wandering around Tokyo Station and window-shopping, we took the train to Sumida to see Tokyo Skytree. Of course, once we were there, we had to wait for hours just to get our turn to the observation deck. I must admit it wasn't much fun, since it was cold, though with the others around, especially with Isaac making a fool of himself posing in front of the tall tower, it wasn't that bad. Maybe it was because Isaac was just too gorgeous and cute in the Japanese girls' eyes that suddenly, he was surrounded by teenagers eager to take photos with him. What? Did they think he was a celebrity from America or something? Soon, they dragged Connor and Mason in as well while Aiden and Noah simply chuckled in amusement.
By the time we got into the elevator and headed up to the observation deck, I was almost ready to give up. Almost. But I was glad I didn't say anything because, boy, the view was amazing and I became super hyped, taking countless pictures, and then, of course, videos as well.
I was just hanging out in one of the corners and admiring the view when I felt Aiden behind me, wrapping his arms around me. He planted a kiss on the top of my head and then said, "You look happy. It makes me happy."
I said to him, "Thanks."
"For?"
"For this," I said, turning my gaze to the beautiful view of Tokyo City before us. Because, obviously, I couldn't afford to come here by myself. Aiden had paid for everything for me, and of course, Isaac. As for the others, they had managed to pay for their own plane tickets. For the food and accommodation budgets, those were mainly provided by both Aiden and Noah, and to an extent, Reo and Mason. Of course, Connor had paid for everything himself.
Aiden was generous, especially when it came to us brothers, which was why I loved him to bits. Maybe when we get back to the hotel tonight, I'll let him do me again, just to say thank you, I guess.
I cocked my head to one side. Didn't that make it sound like I was prostituting myself? No way!
Nope. I was just telling Aiden, in a way, of how much I loved him, that was all. That was what lovemaking meant to the one you loved, the one who cherished you and did whatever it took to make you happy.
"I love you," I whispered to him.
"I love you, too," he replied, which made me smile and my heart glow in delight.

'… This isn't the time for this.'

Jeremy coughed and opened his mouth.

"Not many people stick to just one nationality of food these days. Even if there's more junk food now, there are more food critics now than there were back in the day, and most want something interesting."

"Oh, are you saying it's not fun when you try food you've had before?"

"Somewhat. Of course, there are more kinds of food and many new attempts… But when you do that, you can't help but mix in other nationalities. If you think about it, it doesn't make sense to stick to just one nationality when there are so many possibilities right next door."

In response to Jeremy's opinion, Sarah nodded. Sarah looked then Cho Min Joon and opened her mouth.

"Anyway, don't you think you're taking too much care expressing flavors for a chef?"

"That's because I'm a chef."

"… I'm jealous."

"Of what?"

"That you can do both—Cooking and tasting, and you're good at both of them."

"There are pros and cons though. For you, your life will be like this. You'll travel the world, experience the restaurant cultures, and even enjoy new dishes like we did today. But I can't have that life."

"Are you trying to comfort me?"

"I'm definitely not trying to tease you."

Cho Min Joon smiled.

The next thing they ordered was sushi. Samuel spoke in a strong voice, "We did our best to make sushi that's better than those of sushi restaurants."

"… Is that possible? While going to various sushi restaurants, I noticed that the flavor is different depending on how you squeeze the rice or how you cut the fish. Is there a sushi master here as well?"

"No, there isn't. That's why we contemplated for a long time. How could we make great sushi without an experienced master? We even thought about giving up on sushi, but we didn't want to leave it out at a Japanese fusion restaurant."

"Then how… Oh, did you…"

The doubt in Cho Min Joon's eyes washed away. He opened his mouth.

"So you decided to win with the recipe."

"… How did you know?"

"Because I thought the same thing. I wondered how to make good sushi on my own, and there was only one answer. Good ingredients and a perfect recipe. The same applies to other dishes as well. If you want to compensate for lacking skills, you have to use your brain."

His voice sounded strange. He sounded sad yet relieved. Samuel smiled and asked, "So did you supplement it?"

"I'm still working on it, but it's fun."

Cho Min Joon smiled sincerely. He liked cooking. He actually loved it. That was why he picked this path. He was now able to accept any wall or mountain… And the frustration and disappointment that resulted with a happy attitude.

[… I'm jealous. There's nothing better than pursuing what you love.]

[It must be fun since he's talented at it, too. His life must be fun.]

[But something feels off. I feel like Min Joon thinks he's not as talented as he seems. I don't know if I should think of that as modest or foolish. But when you hear him talk, he always sounds confident.]

[That's because his goals are so high. He'll never be satisfied with what he has, and I like that he's greedy like that.]

Many opinions were shared in the chat, but Cho Min Joon didn't react. He felt embarrassed responding to such comments, and he didn't want to show them that he cared.

The plates came out. There were three types of sushi. One was chicken norimaki on top of a kale leaf, another was sushi with various types of fish, and the last one was eel sushi that was fried to be crispy.

'… 9 points.'

And it wasn't just one of them. The eel sushi was 8 points, and the other two were 9 points each. On top of that, the formation score was no joke. 10 points. That meant the three pieces of sushi established the perfect harmony.

'How perfect could it be…?'

Cho Min Joon thought for a moment. He wasn't sure if he should eat the 8-point eel sushi first or the other two, but his contemplation didn't last long. Samuel opened his mouth.

"There's an order in which you should eat this. First, please have the norimaki."

In response, Cho Min Joon carefully picked up the norimaki. The grains of rice on top of the kale leaf were almost hugging each other. Inside were chicken and okra, and at first glance, it looked like a dash of pepper.

[Ugh, I want to eat that.]

[Why am I looking at this while my fridge is empty?]

When he put it up to his nose, he could smell okra, chicken, and kale. He could smell teriyaki sauce as well. As soon as Cho Min Joon put the norimaki in his mouth with a pounding heart...

"Mmm…"

He groaned unintentionally. Some in the chat called it a Hollywood action, but that wasn't the case. A 9-point dish had the power to move people. The texture of the okra could be sensed beyond the taste of the kale, and the feeling of the peel ripping and the corn popping inside made him feel like he was drinking a  carbonated beverage.

And compared to how the rice was breaking between his teeth, the outside of it felt smooth. On top of that, the soft and chewy texture of the chicken… made him want nothing more in life.

The teriyaki sauce wasn't average either. It had a very faint smell. Cho Min Joon spoke up in awe, "You added nutmeg in the teriyaki sauce."

"You know."

Samuel looked at him, realizing that he indeed had the perfect palate. Cho Min Joon answered, "Everyone can guess that much."

"… I noticed that, too."

Anderson opened his mouth and then flushed when everybody looked his way.

"Am I not allowed to get things like that right?"

"No, I'm just surprised. Anderson, you were never the type to play along with this stuff."

"Hmph."

Anderson turned his head. Samuel looked at Cho Min Joon. His eyes were filled with anticipation of what he would say next. The perfect palate. He was curious to find out what the sensitive tongue had to say about his food.
