"Kill him." as Firefly ordered 6 crew members opened fire only to miss when Cap started running along the roof of the building before throwing a smoke pellet at his feet, this didn't stop the crew however as they continued to fire at the blue smoke.

As their guns finally ran out of bullets the smoke clears only to see nothing "Where did the-" *Smash* before one of the crew could finish Cap flew out of the window of the building, shield first blocking his body from any incoming bullets.

Landing on the ground shield first before rolling in between two of the crewmen "Holy shit!" one of them then aimed at Caps head only for it to get grabbed and aimed at his partner's foot.

Cap then used the end of the gun by hitting the injured man across the side of the head causing him to join his friend into the dreamland before dismantling it.

Cap then threw his at a nearby Car causing the shield to Ricochet off the door before hitting the nearby enemies, who were aiming.

"Hold onto me," Cap told both of them which they happily complied, seeing them holding onto him, Cap, then jumped out of the building and landed on his feet as if he was jumping off a small box.

"Cisco! Dawn!" a woman cried out as she saw Cap with the two, they quickly rushed over to the panicking woman.

"We're fine Mrs Ramon he-" Dawn then turned around to find that Cap had disappeared 'where did he go?'. She thought but soon smiled before turning her attention back to Ciscos mother.

Washington, D.C...the loft...August 12th.

finally arriving home at night exhausted Cap fell onto his sofa "Well today was productive" meanwhile his Tv was on, showing GBS news talking about him.

"Sir you have a call." Jarvis announced but Caps still stayed on the sofa.

"Tell them to call back later" Cap groaned, as he got up and went towards the kitchen and started going through his refrigerator.

"Sir...it's Batman he said it's urgent," Jarvis said with concern but Cap didn't look worried as he began making a sandwich.

"Okay, patch him through" when he said this a screen showed up showing Batman glaring.

"I heard about your extracurricular activities today," Batman said as he had a judgemental look on his face "Do you know how much damage you caused." 

"Well to be fair it was already burning down so-" Cap was soon cut off by an angry Batman.

"this isn't a game!" Although there was anger in his voice Cap didn't show any fear towards Batman "What if someone got hurt it or the build came down from stability that would've been on you." Batman went on for a few minutes drilling everything Cap had done wrong without him saying anything in his defence.

"But overall the issues good job," when he said this Cap eyes widened in surprise it wasn't every day Batman praises someone "You handled the situation adequately considering the circumstances."

"Thanks..." Cap honestly didn't know what to say.

"Lastly I need to speak to you about school." when Batman said this Cap's eyebrow raised in confusion.

"You do know it's pointless and a waste of time." Cap didn't have school on his mind, in fact, not once did he think it was necessary after all why would the smartest person in the world if not the universe need to go "I rather spend my time working."

"You are still a teenager, school is necessary no matter how smart you are." Batman said as he glared it was obvious Cap didn't have a choice "this debate is now closed." 

the screen then disappeared leaving Cap to sigh as he now had to think about the situation he was in 'So now I gotta go school...great..'.

After finishing his food, Cap walked to a table and placed his had on it as a large hologram display of blueprints popped up "Well time start working."

"Jarvis let's start our company with a bang, shall we." he said as a new hologram appeared showing a device of a large scale.

"Of course Sir" Jarvis replied.

"Oh, Jarvis play my playlist." when Cap said this a grin appeared on his face as Shoot To Thrill by AC/DC went through the apartment.

In a room, fear was plastered on the faces of many scientists as they saw a man holding a woman in the air by the neck the woman was none other than lady shiva who escaped from the Justice League after the attack on Captain America.

"YOU HAD ONE JOB....KILL HIM!!! THATS ALL I SAID!!" the man spoke in rage as he squeezed tighter.

"I'm...Sor...Sorry" Lady shiva said as she struggled for air, the man glared at her with cold his blue eyes before sighing then dropping her back to the ground, Shiva then began to take in all the air she could as if she hadn't breathed in days.

The man walked towards a window overlooking the snowy mountains "Well I guess it isn't all bad, he must be in some serious pain after that." a smile appeared onto his face, he then turned his head to shiva who began shivering as sweat went down her face, one of the most dangerous assassins in the world who could even give Batman a hard time was shivering in fear.

"...Leave" without another word Shiva and the scientists left with great speed "sigh~ Can't find good help these days...soon brother soon," he said as he looked out the window with a smile across his face.

Everyone lowered their heads. Someone parted the veil and pulled apart the plastic grass. There was a layer of firefly corpses lining the bottom!
Most of them were already dead, and some of them were struggling. Unfortunately, after struggling for a while, they stopped moving.
"What… What is going on?" the man asked in disbelief.
The attendant said, "These are all killed by the flashes. The flashes killed them. To ensure our profits and the effects, we can only let more fireflies in…"
"Boohoo… Dad, the fireflies are dead." A child cried.
The other children also started crying. They threw themselves into the adults' arms one after another. They did not dare to look; all they did was just cry.
The long-haired woman said bitterly, "I wanted to bring my child to experience nature and see fireflies on a holiday. I didn't expect that I would actually harm them… I was wrong."
Fangzheng pressed his palms together. "Amitabha. This isn't an exhibition of fireflies. It's a massacre."
Everyone nodded in agreement.

"Slander? What a joke. Do we have to slander? We are speaking the truth! Do you dare turn on the lights?" said a man.
"That's right. If you have the ability, turn on the lights and let us see what this place is like!" the long-haired woman said.
"Shut up! This is the end of today's experience. Security, send these people out." After Director Xiang finished speaking, he waved his hand and a group of security officers rushed over to chase them out.
Zhu Lin looked at Fangzheng. "Master, are you not going to do anything?"
Fangzheng smiled. "This is someone else's territory. If he wants you to leave, is there a reason for staying?"
Zhu Lin was stunned…
Fangzheng did not care about Zhu Lin's shock. Instead, he came in front of Director Xiang and said with a smile, "Patron, what Man does, Heaven watches. What you are doing will cause you to be struck by lightning."
When Director Xiang heard that, he laughed out loud. "You're that monk from One Finger Monastery, right? I know you are quite powerful, but so what? I'm a legal business, who can do anything to me? As for heaven? If there's really heaven, it can strike me."

Fangzheng's voice was too soft. No one heard him. Most importantly, just as everyone was trying to hear what was said, they heard a loud boom. The ceiling above them cracked as a silver blast exploded. Following that, a lightning bolt landed between Fangzheng and Director Xiang!
Director Xiang was so scared that he jumped backwards. He sat on the ground, and his crotch instantly became wet… He couldn't stand up for a long time.
Director Xiang looked up into the sky with trembling eyes before looking at Fangzheng. He quickly got up and ran. At the same time, he said, "Chase them away! Close the door, close it!"
This shout snapped everyone to their senses. A security guard mustered his courage and went forward to plead, "Master, please let us go. We're just employees and we have no choice. Why don't you go out for a while?"
Zhu Lin pursed her lips and said, "Tsk, what happened to your fierce look just now? Why is it gone? You are only capable of bullying the weak while fearing the strong. Where's my cell phone? Return it to me!"

The temple has a bald but handsome monk. Every day, he would bawl, "I want to renounce asceticism! I want to marry a chick that's not too pretty, have a cute baby, and lead a stable life!"

This book is a casual novel that introduces various Chinese traditional customs, as well as Buddhist ones. It strives to be a positive book, allowing people to reflect on how they should live their lives and treat others.

The Firefly Village Arena

The arena of the Firefly Village is a large structure of their village. In the centre of the arena, there were four square platforms of 100 meters in length and 100 meters in width. Surrounding the platforms were viewing area. The arena was a round structure without a roof.

The arena's viewing seats were filled by the villagers. The crowd that had gathered was ten times that of the one that gathered in front of Max's house. When the grand elder permitted Max and Jin to duel to settle their problem regarding the Lightning Phyonet, the news spread like wildfire.

Majority of the crowd was gathered for Jin. The last time Jin made a public show of strength was during a championship held for teenagers among villages surrounding Firefly village two years ago. At that time, Jin had just broken through to the 1-star Essence Transformation.

During the championship of two years ago, Jin had given everyone a stunning performance and won the title of champion. After that championship, Jin's reputation skyrocketed. Even now, the duel has yet to begin, but sounds of cheer for Jin is echoing in the arena.

Enjoying the cheers and attention, Jin smiled and waved at his fans as walks slowly to a platform that the grand elder was waiting on. Around 15- feet away from Jin and elder Loxius, Max and Kuro Kiba were following. Sounds of booing were heard from Jin's female fans.

Paying no heed to the booing or cheers from the crowd, Max walked casually. Max wore a black pants and a redshirt. On top of his shirt, he wore a brown leather jacket. On the right side of his waist, he hung five small knives. On the left side of his waist, the Fiery Blood Sabre hung, giving a dangerous feeling.

Compared to Max, Jin wore a casual pant and a blue t-shirt and on his back hung the Azure Turantanium blade. The casual clothing with a blade on his back gave Jin an elegant look.

With both Max and Jin on stage, the grand elder didn't wait any longer and proceeded to explain the rules again. No Armor, no Elemon and no interference from anyone. They were only allowed to use a weapon. Unless a party decides to admit defeat, the duel will continue.

Both Jin and Max signed a contract the grand elder had brought. The contract stated that injuries, disabilities or even death caused in the arena were responsibilities of their own. Even though the grand elder hopes no deaths or serious injuries happen to both Max and Jin, he has to follow the procedures set by the first grand elder.

Just to be safe, the grand elder handed a copy of the contract to both Kuro Kiba and elder Loxius. He fears Kuro Kiba will act rashly if Max was injured too badly by Jin. Elder Loxius and Kuro Kiba signed the contract without making a fuss.

"Since we are ready, let the match begin."

The grand elder left the platform to the side. Hearing the grand elder's words, the crowd went a cheering frenzy. But to their disappointment, Max and Jin didn't start to fight immediately. To the crowd, it looked like the two was talking leisurely.

Even the grand elder, elder Loxius and Kuro Kiba could not hear their conversation. This was due to the force field that was activated. The force field absorbs any damage done to it from the inside. It also absorbs sound, so the conversation could not be heard to the outside of the force field.

"You didn't expect it to end like this, did you, Max?"

"I never thought you would use your grandfather's influence to try and steal my Elemon. Truly, I never expected you to try and steal my Elemon again in the slightest."

"With all the traps that you set up for me, only fools would believe in you. But it's all in vain after all. At least you're not losing without a fight. That saves you some face. Though it's sad the fight will be a short one."

"Bahahaha. I'll prove myself with my strength. We'll see who will have the last laugh."

"Enough talk let's fight."

Max moved swiftly to his left while he threw one of his small knives at Jin.

"Little tricks like this can never get me, Max."

Jin dodged to his right and the knife stabbed the platform. Jin unsheathed his Azure Turantanium blade from his back and sent three consecutive slashes towards Max. The three azure coloured slashes were in a line, leaving Max with little room to dodge.

Max was as nimble as a monkey, dodging two slashes. As he was dodging the third slash, he saw Jin was rushing towards him. With a quick hand movement, Max took another small knife and threw it towards Jin.

In response, Jin changed his course of movement and dodged sideways. Jin's third slash managed to scratch Max's shoulder, cutting through Max's jacket, shirt and leave a skin-deep wound.

"Your pretty fast with your petty level of cultivation. Managing dodge my tri slash. You're not too boring after all."

With a humph, Max unsheathed his Fiery Blood Sabre and ran straight towards Jin. When max reached Jin, he slashed down with the sabre. But Jin snorted and lifted his blade to defend against Max's ordinary slash.

*Ting**Tang**Tang**Ting**Ting*
         
The two clashed multiple times and separated. As they were moving away from each other, Max threw another of his small knife at Jin. Jin also sent an azure slash at Max at the same time. The knife and the slashed passed each other with so little space between.

Max and Jin managed to dodge each other's attack and stood 20 meters apart, breathing heavily. The crowd was in shock. They could have never expected Max, who doesn't even have a spirit core yet can match a 3-star essence transformation.

After all, with each breakthrough, their body will also be nourished and reinforced. Max's speed and strength that doesn't lose out Jin, surprised everyone. Everyone except Kuro Kiba at least.

"I have to admit *breathes*. You're indeed an opponent that is worth fighting. But your weakness is your cultivation level. Without any spirit essence, even your sabre can't show its full potential."

Jin injected spirit essence into his Azure Turantanium blade. The blade exuded a faint azure glow. Jin performed multiple slashes toward Max.

A barrage of slashes came streaking towards Max. After dodging a few, Max was hit by the remaining slashes. He was thrown away by the slashes and he was slammed to the force field. Max had cuts all around his body.

The spectators were quite disappointed. After an exciting exchange of attacks, the fight has come to end rather quickly. But to their surprise, Max lifted his wound covered body up slowly and stood up. Max lifted the blade in his hand and stood in a fighting pose. This means Max doesn't want to give up.

"Sigh. To think that you would be this stubborn. Then I can only kill you now. If you make a breakthrough in the future, you may become too dangerous for me to handle. Fifth grand elder, you have won't be lonely anymore, I'll send your son to you."

Max didn't reveal any anger towards Jin's provocation.

"Now that I remember, your foster father would have been not lonely. After all, Yamato was long since waiting for your father right?"

Hearing Jin's word, Max's eyes flooded with tears. Max's grip slipped, and the Fiery blood sabre fell to the ground. Yamato. The name that has been a torn in Max's heart. Jin, who was standing 40 meters away from Max looked delighted.

He never thought mentioning a single name would make Max lose himself sadness. But then, to Jin's surprise. Max's expression became that of anger. Max crouched and picked up the Fiery Blood Sabre.

The blood from his wounds dripped to his Fiery Blood Sabre. The sabre then started to exude a faint black and red glow. Max's right eye started to glow in feint yellow and his back iris also started to turn red.

As his eyes started to exude a brighter yellow glow, blood from his wounds started to stop. Max's face was flushed with anger.

"JIN! You have made the biggest mistake of your life."

Elemon. creatures with lower intellect, but possess elemental power far superior to any beings of the world. Alas can only become a cultivation tool for other beings.

CHAPTER 561

THE SHADOWS CAST

 

Aaria groaned lowly as she opened her eyes, her eyelashes fluttering wildly in a haze. A few streaks of the sun made their way through the open-curtain window to her left, shining over arrays of light across her flamboyant blanket and onto the carpeted floor. She fought the grogginess as she pulled herself up and sat against the hand-carved bed's frame, looking out into the empty room. It was rather long, winding in a slight curve against the side of the fortress' walls, decorated lavishly by nearly everything she could find – paintings, sculptures, mosaics, hand-woven, elaborate rugs, extravagant furniture, convoluted chandeliers, and even a few pieces of stuffed animals.

 She sighed with an empty expression, throwing the blanket to the rear and stepping to the bed's side, leaning over, her flocks of hair shining in the golden sun, strands lingering to the side, seeming messy. She stared emptily at the floor for a moment before standing up, stretching lazily and walking over to the basin in the corner, quickly washing herself. Right beside the basin was a massive, carved-in room full of lavish clothing, where she spent nearly half an hour choosing and dressing before stepping out, draped in a complex, multi-layered dress of crimson and gold, held together by shining bows on the sides and around the waist.

 Right by the closet's entrance was a small chair lingering in front of an oval, gold-framed mirror and a mid-raised table full of strange, tiny cups of makeup. She paid them a quick glance before looking into the mirror, her reflection painstakingly staring back. The disheveled hair appeared a stark contrast to her dress, causing her to sigh lowly as she began fashioning it the best way she could, turning into a complex bun somewhat slowly and awkwardly.

She put her elbows onto the table and leaned closer in, lowering her head for a moment before looking back up; her skin was smooth, well-maintained, yet also appeared… fake. Her eyes reflected the sort of inner turmoil she had difficulty expressing, one that was eating away at her for years now, slowly building up, fanning the flames of her insecure heart.

 Managing to tear herself away from the mirror, at last, she got up lethargically and walked over to the door, stopping for a moment and taking a deep breath before walking out. Right outside, several dozen women dressed like clones quickly shot to their feet and aligned to her sides, creating a sort of a path through the terraced road. To her right was an open view of the Empire's horizon, pillars upholding the upper floor, a variety of flowers decorating the railing. Her eyes, however, ignored everything as she made her way through a makeshift, human blockade converging behind her, creating a strange sight.

She stepped out into the open, the corridor's exit leading to an open plaza down the set of stairs; the plaza was entirely empty, as was the case during most of the days, as it stood straight in front of the Empire's official 'palace' of sorts. At the very edges, she could see a few figures working, though she paid them no heed, walking straight toward the palace's grand entrance. Usually, this early in the morning, it was rather empty and silent, the Grand Hall seeming more a ghastly place from the horror stories rather than one of the Palace's main buildings.

She left the entourage outside and made her way in, glancing around; etched across the walls, on the ceiling, present on dozens of paintings hanging around were the two figures that loomed over her – her parents. Their heroic figures stood imposed in one terrible circumstance or another, all of which they managed to overcome, making their way to the top and creating what is effectively a unified world. Both were unmatched in terms of strength and charisma, the ability to lead without even trying.

 She couldn't remember the last time she saw her father attend any of the Empire's meetings, yet one word from him would still be enough to mobilize the entire Empire within minutes. Despite the fact that the majority of people never met him or even talked to him, his name carried such weight that it was unnecessary. The sheer quantity of titles that often came with his name was enough to etch him into the memories of people. She moved to the edge of the hall and sat down on one of the benches lined against the walls, looking eerily lonely.

There were murals of her, too, hanging about, and her portrait was even centralized amidst the two. It remained the penultimate reminder that she was inadequate; she wasn't as strong as her father, as quick-witted as him, as smart as her mother, and not nearly enough capable of a leader to take over an entire Empire. She could feel her shortcomings in everything she did, and the stories she'd hear when others didn't know she was listening were like swords being etched deep into her heart.

By her age, the Empress was already a Holy Maiden…

She has everything she could ever dream of and still can't cultivate faster than some kids from the orphanages…

She's weak…

She's dull…

She's shallow…

She'll be a terrible Empress…

I wish the Lord and the Lady would have another child…

The pricks mounted, one by one, over the years, each digging a further inch deeper, stabbing at her. She used to believe in the empty façade that everyone was her friend, that everyone liked her because of who she was, and that it had nothing to do with what she was. However, the reality was much crueler than what her rose-colored, child's mind believed. She realized quickly that, save for her parents and their unconditional love, she could rely on very few others. Among those of her own age, perhaps only her older brother was one of them, someone who always treated her the same.

She sighed, lost in thoughts, leaning further back against the bench. Every morning of every day, she would come here just as the dawn struck the day, sit in the silent thoughts for a good hour before others started showing up. Though she tried many times to sort the mess inside her head, it was all for naught. No matter how hard she tried, she always found herself coming up short of the world's expectations. By all accounts, she was entirely ordinary; the only thing separating her from those kids throwing mudballs at each other on the streets was her namesake. The accidental point of her birth… and nothing else.

More than once, she wished she had been born in an ordinary family; she could have lived her life in silence, estranged from the eschewed eyes that never truly accepted her. She could have been someone ordinary, someone untouched by the glamor and the glory of the Court, unblemished by the expectations she knew she would never be able to meet, no matter how hard she worked. The reality escaped her eyes, and she escaped it in turn.

 "… you look awfully despondent." A voice startled her out of her thoughts as she cried out, jumping up. Only then did she notice a familiar-looking figure sitting on the bench next to her, smiling faintly, his hair just as disheveled as hers was when she woke up. She had never seen her father without a cheeky smile on his face or entirely cleaned up. Perhaps only he could walk around in the Palace, and among the Courtly, looking as though he had just come from the streets where he begged for bread for hours. "Oh, wow. If I look awful enough to scare my own kid, maybe it's time I took some fashion advice from your mom, eh?"

"… ha ha ha, sorry," Aaria laughed lightly and sat back down, leaning against his shoulder briefly. "It's not that; you just startled me."

"What were you thinking about so deeply anyway?" Lino asked, moving a few strands of her hair from her forehead.

"Nothing much." Aaria replied, pulling the corners of her lips into a smile.

 "… you got the same smile as your mom," he said after a few moments, sighing. "I remember her giving me the same look a long, long, long time ago. Reassuring me. Then, a few days later… she was gone. I wouldn't see her for over ten years afterward. Are you planning on running away, firefly?"

"…" Aaria swallowed back her words, staring deeply into the pair of abyss-black eyes. If there was one thing that she prided herself on, it was that she never burdened her parents with what she believed were her insignificant troubles. The two had the entire world to worry over; her little worries weren't nearly bad enough to impede on that. Yet, his gaze seemed to thaw that thin layer of frost of confidence around her heart. "… I've thought about it." She replied at last, looking away in shame, lowering her head.

"… where would you go?" Lino asked.

"… I don't know," she replied. "Somewhere. I'd figure it out."

"… let's go somewhere then."

"Huh? Aa-aaaaaaaaaaaah!" Aaria suddenly screamed out as she felt herself pulled out of the reality, thrust through the world she had never seen before; all around her, the reality warped into a tunnel-like shape, colors beyond complexion forming shapes beyond descriptions, temporarily dulling her mind. By the time she registered it all, she felt a breeze of wind push past her cheeks, her legs touching the hard ground. It took a moment for her mind to catch up before she bent over and bawled out a mouthful, coughing right after. "Ugh, what the hell dad…" she grumbled angrily as she wiped her lips, straightening right after and taking in her surroundings.

"Oh, right, you never space-tunneled before," Lino chuckled. "My bad."

Aaria realized the two were standing on a riverbank, a stream of clear water pushing beside her down the rocky steep. Behind her was a small cabin, perched underneath a tall and bushy tree, the two surrounded by a massive plain.

"… where are we?" she asked after a moment.

"This," Lino replied. "Is where I met your mom for the first time, second time."

"Huh?"

"A long while back, I passed out after a fight with a Devil," he said as he walked up to a small, wooden pier, Aaria following right behind him. The two sat down by the edge, letting their legs dangle off just above the stream. "And your mom… she brought me here. When I opened my eyes inside that cabin, a strange, masked woman welcomed me. I never told her this, and you better not either, but I nearly pissed myself from fear back then."

"…"

"Anyway, we spent some time here until I recovered," Lino said, glancing up toward the sky, a warm smile hanging on his face, one that caused Aaria to smile as well. "During which… I fell in love with her all over. Staying here, with her, away from the world, shut off from its troubles, from all the noise… is in one of my favorite moments of all time."

"…" Aaria lowered her gaze back onto the stream, rocking her legs back and forth. She was lucky – she always knew that. Beyond simply having been born into the right family, the truly lucky part that her parents were irreplaceable. "You and mom are really amazing…"

"… it's your mom that's amazing," Lino chuckled, glancing down at her. "I'm just a straggler who managed to ride the coattails of her marvelous life."

"… no, you both are," Aaria sighed, shaking her head. "Whenever people talk about you, it's like… each story somehow becomes crazier than the last. You did all these crazy, insane, yet incredible things… all the time," she laughed bitterly, looking up at the clear, blue sky. "And, somehow… you always… always… won."

"People hate me, dad."

"… huh? What? People don't hate you."

"Ha ha, it's fine; I know they do," she laughed bitterly, corners of her eyes growing teary. "And… honestly… I don't blame them. I'm never good enough. Never good at anything, dad. No matter how hard I try, how much effort I put in… I always come up short. I want to be like the two of you; I want people to have their eyes shine whenever they mention me… not really because of me, but because of you two. You've built this amazing world all by yourself… and sometimes… sometimes I feel I'm the only stain on your legacy."

"…" Lino listened in silence as tears began rolling down her slightly reddened cheeks.

"… I… I'm sorry," she cracked all of a sudden, her fingers' hold onto the wooden pier tightening. "I'm so sorry…"

 "… you seem to have a really skewed view of your mom and me, firefly," Lino said with a pained smile, caressing her head gently. "We're nowhere near as amazing as you think we are, and especially not as much as people describe us. If anything, both of us, especially me, are littered by faults, regrets, and past mistakes we'll never be able to erase. You say we've accomplished all of these amazing things on our own, but that's hardly the truth; all along, we had countless arms and hearts supporting us. And, as people do from time to time, we failed many of them."

"…" Aaria moved her gaze away from the river and onto the man she always considered ineffable, untouchable, a wall that can never be cracked. Yet, that very wall was cracking right now, in front of her eyes.

"This Empire… this damned empire was built on blood and bones, firefly," Lino said. "Names of hundreds of people lay etched in its bloodbound soil. I failed so, so many times, I've long since lost the count. However, nobody mentions that. Recently, and secretly, I sneaked into some of the schools just to see what's it all about, and not once did I hear anyone mention how I had to escape my first, true war with a tail between my legs. Not once did I hear anyone mention how I had failed to protect the very first people that decided to follow me, leading to their early demise. Not once did I hear anyone mention all the countless mistakes I've made, the endless sea of people I've let down, and no doubt countless heartbreaks I've caused."

 "All those murals, all those paintings, mosaics… what they paint isn't a story of how your mom and I got to where we are," Lino sighed, shaking his head with a bitter smile. "They paint a folktale that's about as true as if you said birds give birth to lions. Remember this, firefly -- behind every single moment of glory is a story full of heartache, failure, and breakdowns. If there is one thing I'd never let you be, firefly, it's to be like your mom and me. They talk behind your back? Let them. The only reason they don't talk behind my back is that they're scared shitless. If it bothers you, just whip them a few times to teach them a lesson."

"… ha ha ha ha…"

"I didn't change this world for them, Aaria; I didn't fight endless wars, lost hundreds of friends, and set the world on fire for years, for them. I did it for you – so you wouldn't have to. You are amazing, no matter what you think of yourself. You say you failed at everything you tried, but the only thing I saw you try is to follow in your mom's and my footsteps. That's a no-go, firefly. Be yourself. Never let our shadows hold you back from becoming whatever you want. If you want to become an Empress after us, devote yourself to it. If not? Then don't. Who gives a shit, anyway? There are literally millions of people out there who'd be more than happy to inherit the throne. If you like painting, then paint; if you like dancing, then dance; if you like music, then sing; if you like writing, then write; if you like doing nothing and lazing around all day, then laze around until your heart's content. The world is yours, firefly, and you don't owe it anything. Nor do you owe its inhabitants anything. You only owe yourself to live the life you want to live."

"… how do you not care?" Aaria asked, biting her lower lip and throwing herself into his chest; all her troubles seemed to fade away right at that moment, as though a wall between them and her had been erected from the solid nothing.

"… I can't answer that for you, firefly," Lino said, caressing her hair warmly, embracing her with his free arm. "If you want, your mom and I can abdicate the throne today, and move here. It will be just the three of us, day in and out. However, something tells me… that's not the path you want to take."

 "The key in life, I've learned," Lino said, taking a deep breath. "Is finding yourself in the midst of others. You'll always feel the pull to be someone else; when I was younger, the only reason I wanted to be a smith was because I saw how lavishly the smiths in the village lived. But, before that, I wanted to be a miner, because I saw miners eating freshly baked bread on their way over to the mines. And, before that, I wanted to be a guard of some fancy noble, because I always saw those guards dressed in the best armor and weapons coin can buy. If you let this pull of the naïve heart win, you'll never find yourself. You'll always be somebody else. Look no further than yourself," he added, chuckling faintly. "How many millions of girls in the world want to be the Princesses because they believe you're at the peak of happiness? That you have everything?"

"So be yourself, firefly; you may be my kid, but before that, you are your own self. You owe neither your mom nor me anything. Never let these, or any other, old bones hold you back. If you try and fail, what does it matter? Everyone tries and fails. If I never failed in life, I'd have never learned anything. So, you could say, my genius is built upon the mountain of failures."

"Oh, your genius, is it? Ha ha ha…"

"Indeed, indeed," Lino chuckled, stroking his chin. "This unparalleled genius indeed."

"… unparalleled, huh? So… you must have failed tons in your life?"

"Oh, more than you can count."

"I can count plenty, though; I may be a bit slow, but I'm not a dud, dad…"

"Oh, my bad. I heard some clerk talking about how he saw you struggling to count to a hundred, so I just assumed…"

"WHAT?!!" Aaria jumped up suddenly, her cheeks red like a cherry. "I-I can count more than a hundred!! Who said that?! I'll beat his ass so hard he'll forget to count to a hundred!!"

"No," Lino shook his head. "It pains me that you even understand. I may say I built all of this for you, but if I'm constantly running about, what was the point? From today onwards, reserve one hour every day – we'll call it Daddy-Time!"

 "Says who?! I, as the only other person here, say that it's absolutely magnificent! The first order of our Daddy-Time – tag! If I catch you, I'll throw you into the stream and we'll swim together!"

The first was the Nightslayer Bracer. This equip was made by March Rain and it was a Fine Epic. The Molds that existed in Dawn were divided into four levels – Superior, Fine, Exquisite and Perfect. These provided increasing benefits to the Attributes of the item. 
 Superior was currently the most common among the players, and most Molds were of this level. 
 If you searched the keyword 'Superior' in the Exchange Hall, many results would come up. The properties of these equips were quite ordinary, but the price was also quite low. Players who were selling these items just wanted to make back the material cost.
 Fine was already quite decent, but after the numbers were finetuned by the Game Company, the drop rate of Fine Molds significantly decreased.
 If a player could help another to craft a set of Fine grade items, they would immediately feel indebted to them. In the future, they would introduce their friends to come over to do the same. As such, the ability to make Fine equipment was something that you could make a name for yourself with. 
 This Bracer's Attributes were quite good and Lu Li was very satisfied with the item. 
 Nightslayer Bracer (Fine Epic) : Armour 120, Agility +80, Strength +60, 2 slots, Attack Speed +10%, Special Effect 1: Slashing Skills +1. Special Effect 2: When hit, there is a certain chance that a Fear effect will be applied to the attacker. Special Effect 3: Knock back and apply a curse to the target, reducing their movement speed by 60% for 20 seconds. 6 minute cooldown. Equipment Requirements: Level 60, Durability 250/250. 
 The bracer that he had currently equipped was just an ordinary item that he had picked up. When he upgraded to the level 60 Nightslayer Bracer, there was a significant increase in his Strength. 
 This bracer also gave him 120 Armor, which was almost inconceivable.
 The fact that it was a Fine Epic and part of a set determined its Attributes. This also contributed to its Agility and Strength bonuses and the 10% attack speed bonus. 
 Attack speed was the same as Critical Hit, as it couldn't be accumulated indefinitely. 
 Lu Li's attack speed couldn't be any higher because of the Shard of the Defiler, so this bonus was actually useless to him. 
 Fortunately, the Special Effects compensated for this. The first was a buff to his Slashing skills. This also served to increase attack speed, but it was a skill effect and was unaffected by normal attack speed buffs. As such, when Lu Li cast his Slashing skills, there would be an attack speed buff applied. 
 There was no Thief that would be upset with increased attack speed, as a major part of a Thief's strength came from this.
 When hit, there was also a certain probability that a Fear effect would be produced. When Lu Li thought about it, he was satisfied with this special effect. After all, it was a passive crowd-control skill. A Thief also couldn't have too much crowd-control, but Lu Li didn't know how high of a chance this was. 
 The third special effect was rathe powerful. The knock-back was already pretty useful, but the slow debuff made it even better.
 This kind of special effect would be very useful for Lu Li when he needed to retreat and wait for his cooldowns. Once he knocked-back and slowed his opponent, Lu Li would have the opportunity to retreat if he so wished. 
 This was truly an item worthy of a T1 set. Most players were still working hard to acquire a T0 set while professional players were building T0.5 sets. Lu Li's T1 set put him on a whole new level. 
 If the T1 equipment's Attributes were not good, then that would truly be unexpected.
 The remaining two pieces of equipment were no worse than the Nightslayer Bracer. 
 Nightslayer Breastplate (Exquisite Epic) : Armour 150, Agility +100, Constitution +80, 2 Slots. Special Effect 1: Armor increased by 10%. Special Effect 2: After using this skill, damage received by the user is decreased by 40%. Teammates within 30 yards of the user enjoy half of this damage reduction effect. 60 second cooldown. Special Effect 3: Remulos' Protection, Nature magic is stored in this item for the wearer. When the wearer's HP drops below 20%, a shield will appear that can absorb no more than 50% of the user's max HP. 60-minute cooldown. Level Requirement: Level 60. Durability 300/300. 
 The Armor was similarly very high. This was the highest Armor that Lu Li had ever seen on a piece of equipment. 
 Because it was a Breastplate, it provided bonus Agility and Constitution. The bonus amount was substantial, even for this level of equipment. Obviously, it couldn't provide too little, or selse the Game Company would be sabotaging themselves.
 The first special effect increased his Armor by a certain percentage.
 If the Bracer improved Attack Speed, then the Breastplate served to increase in Armor. Lu Li's current total Armor value was about 600. With this 10% increase, he would receive an extra 60 points, which was equivalent to having an additional piece of equipment.
 Of course, no matter how much Armor he acquired, it would be incomparable to Plate Armor or even Chain Mail Armor. 
 Azure Sea Breeze's breastplate alone had an Armor value that was three or four times that of Lu Li's.
 There were many Cloth Armour players who had accumulated a significant amount of Armor, but certainly not as much as Azure Sea Breeze. Dawn's number one Main Tank also probably had the most exquisite items.
 The second Special Effect wasn't too strong; the 40% damage reduction was quite ordinary. 
 However, this special effect could also help his teammates, which was crucial in Boss battles. After all, it was sometimes dangerous to use your damage reduction skills too early. Everyone had their strong personal abilities, but Lu Li's special effect could effectively serve as an area of effect heal. Lu Li also felt like it had a very short cooldown – it was only 60 seconds. 
 As for the third, Lu Li was willing to bet that this was no ordinary effect.
 Not all T1 breastplates in Dawn would have this special effect. In Dawn, this was quite a common occurrence, especially when it came to equipment rewarded as part of a quest. These equips would often come with extra features tied to the quest.
 Remulos had awarded the equipment, so Remulos' Protection was added to it. 
 When the user's HP dropped below 20%, a shield would appear. This could absorb no greater than 50% of the user's max HP. 
 There were chance-based effects, casted effects and conditional effects in Dawn. 
 Chance-based effects, as their name suggested, would trigger at a certain probability. Some had a higher probability which made them trigger more frequently while others had a low probability. Some of these effects had such a low probability that the user would never see them triggered.
 Casted effects were quite self-explanatory, which left conditional effects. 
 Lu Li's Remulos' Protection would only be triggered when Lu Li's HP reached below 20%. This was a necessary precondition for it to activate.
 As for the cooldown, the normal rules applied.
 If there was no cooldown, then that would great. Every time Lu Li's HP reached 20%, it would trigger the special effect. At the end of the effect, after he had regenerated some HP, when he reached 20%, it would trigger the special effect again…
 If that happened, Lu Li would really become unkillable.
 The last piece of equipment was the Nightslayer Cloak, which was also an Exquisite Epic. Unless you had special items like Lu Li did, it was difficult to craft a Perfect grade item. Among the three items he received, the fact that two of them were Exquisite was already quite a blessing. 
 Nightslayer Cloak (Exquisite Epic) : Armor 115, Agility +120, Strength +60, Special Effect 1: 20% bonus Movement Speed. Special Effect 2: Poison Master, increases the damage dealt by your poisons by 20% and increases the non-damage effects by 10%. Special Effect 3: Strengthen Cloak. Whenever the user casts Shadow Cloak's effect, the user will regenerate 3% HP for each effect that is nullified by it. Equipment Requirements: Level 60, Durability: 320/ 320.
 The practical value of this cloak was not much higher than the Breastplate, but it was definitely more expensive.
 As the player-base's equipment and level improved, various strategies would emerge. At the current time, Blackrock Mountain was the ideal location for farming. This was also the case before Lu Li had experienced Rebirth. 
 T1 wouldn't be considered rubbish, but it wasn't difficult to buy if you had the money. 
 However, he recalled the ridiculous price of the T1 cloak at the time. The reason wasn't even because of its Attributes, but because it looked cool.
 In reality, the original purpose of wearing clothing was to protect yourself from the elements. However, some clothes were worth hundreds or even tens of millions of dollars. In these cases, the monetary value far exceeded functional value, and the Nightslayer cloak was the same.
 An ordinary person such as Lu Li wasn't very eye-catching, but once he put on this cloak, he would instantly become a male God.

 The non-damage effect buff might not have been of much use to an ordinary Thief, as it would mainly apply to slows and healing reductions.
 However, Lu Li was not the same. He was an expert in the development of new poisons. There was potential for a whole range of effects in future and it was very useful to have the 10% buff.
 The third Special Effect was a way to regain HP, but it depended on Lu Li's timing. 
 The most important aspect of this skill was that the 'effects' were the magical effects that were going to hit the user.
 If only one magic effect nullified, there would only be a regeneration of 3%. This was better than nothing, but it wouldn't make much of a difference.
 If there were ten people attacking Lu Li before he cast Shadow Cloak and he nullified seven or eight skills, he could recover more than half of his HP. This effect had the potential for significant HP regeneration. 
 Of course, it was practically quite difficult to nullify that many magical effects.
 Lu Li put the three pieces of equipment into his warehouse. They could only be used when he reached level 60. At the present, all he had to do was farm EXP, so it would be a waste of Level Reduction Gems.
 For the sake of the three pieces of exquisite equipment, Lu Li embarked on a journey of power-levelling.
