After its international premiere at the Sommet International Film Festival, "Strong Yet Broken" received mostly favourable reviews from the world's leading film critics. They praised it for its rawness and realistic depiction of the issues surrounding the topics of disability, depression, and suicide. The film didn't sugarcoat or romanticize these subjects, except perhaps for the love of Guan Jintao's mother for her husband and son.
All of these reviews were published in different languages which gave everyone involved in the film a dream-like feeling of amazed disbelief. The fact that their film, "Strong Yet Broken", made its international debut at what was considered by many as the world's most prestigious film festival hadn't completely hit home to them yet.
Never did they expect that the indie film they created and acted in would garner such unprecedented success and recognition, not only in China but also abroad. All of them would never forget the wonderful experiences they had with this film. Of course, Iris Long also felt the same way.
There were also some critics who wrote negative reviews. A handful of them were even extremely scathing. It dampened the cast and crew's high spirits somewhat before they decided to shrug their shoulders. Nobody could please everyone. They would just focus on the positive reviews and praises, instead of brooding on the harsh criticisms.
Finally, after more than a week of nonstop screenings and various events, the last day of the Sommet International Film Festival arrived. All of the shortlisted films had already been screened and watched by the thousands of film enthusiasts who travelled to the French Riviera just to attend the festival.
Unlike the (boring) opening ceremony, almost everyone was excited for the awards night. They didn't care if the host, speakers or the performances would be dull. It was the anticipation of who would win the awards among the selected nominees that everyone cared about the most.
Of course, the nominees also couldn't contain their excitement and anxiety, even to the few of them who were already considered veterans. These people had experienced participating in the film festival more than once in the past. A handful of them even won awards before. Despite this, they still couldn't help but feel a little nervous. This was the prestigious Sommet International Film Festival Awards after all.
As for the other participants, the majority of them were complete newcomers. So it wasn't surprising that they were almost beyond themselves in their nervous excitement. This was a dream come true for most of them.
The only Chinese entry, "Strong Yet Broken", received a total of four nominations.
First was for the Best Debut Film Award. The winner would be chosen among the films with cast and crew who were total newcomers to the Sommet International Film Festival. Every single person involved in the film must never have participated in the film festival in any way in the past.
Second was for the Best Soundtrack Award. Iris Long was nominated for her work in "Strong Yet Broken" as the composer of the film score. If she won, she would be the youngest recipient of this particular award in the film festival's history. She was 21 years old this year. The youngest winner recorded was a 27-year old man who won the award five years ago.
Third was for the Best Actress Award. The actress playing Guan Jintao's mother was nominated for her outstanding performance. Win or lose, China's acting industry was already celebrating her achievements for her work in "Strong Yet Broken". She was now being lauded and respected as one of the most phenomenal actresses in China.
Last but not the least, the film was also nominated for the main prize, the Soleil d'Or or the Golden Sun Award. This was the highest honour among all the prizes given out at the Sommet International Film Festival. Receiving this award was a dream come true for all serious filmmakers.
The Sommet International Film Festival was also considered as the opening to the long awards season. Winning the Soleil d'Or would give the film and everyone involved in it a higher likelihood of winning other prestigious awards in other countries, including the famous long-running Institute Awards in the US, also officially and popularly known as the Owens, which was broadcast to more than a hundred countries all around the world.
But for now, everyone was focused in the Sommet International Film Festival.
The awards night was even more fabulous than the opening ceremony. It was the final night, after all. The next Sommet International Film Festival wouldn't happen until next year.
Everyone dressed their best. The spectators, media, and VIP guests were almost triple the number compared to the opening night. The event was filled with glitz and glamour. Of course, the spectators' screams and shrieks sounded all throughout the event.
Like the opening night, after the regular members of the audience quickly walked the red carpet, the VIP guests started arriving with much pomp and circumstance. It was another parade of fashion and star power.

Jiang Ying Yue didn't accompany Wei Lan this time. She decided to stay with her son at the villa estate instead. To her, it was much more fun to spend the night with Little Jun than trying to make herself look comfortable in front of all those people and media. Although she didn't attend, she and Little Jun still wanted to support Iris by watching the awards ceremony on TV.
"Ampa Lu! Anko Hao! Amma Weiyan!" Little Jun exclaimed in excitement whenever he saw his Great-Grandpa Lu, Uncle Lu Zihao, and Grandma Wei Lan on TV.
Jiang Ying Yue chuckled at her son.
"No Mama? No Papa?" Little Jun asked with an adorable expression while pointing his little index finger at the TV.
"Not yet. Your Mama Xiulan and Papa Liwei haven't arrived yet. They're going to appear later," she explained to the toddler.
"Oh!"
Little Jun's eyes widened a bit, looking as if he understood his mommy's words.
The mother and son sat on the carpet in front of the TV at the living area. Some of the villa's French household staff were also watching the awards night with them.

GIANNA shifted restlessly in her chair. She was wondering why Hunter was still there and not leaving yet. She thought he was only going to return something. She couldn't enjoy her dessert because of him. She could feel his gaze raking over her. 

    "You still haven't forgotten my favorite dessert, Gianna," her Aunt Yvette said, smiling at her.  "It's really good to see you back here."

    "Why, of course tita. You know I'm also fond of chocolate cake," she replied.

    She threw a quick glance at Hunter who seemed like he was enjoying his cake. Her brows furrowed. She remembered he wasn't fond of sweets. No wonder he hadn't had an ounce of sweetness in him. "I thought you didn't eat cake," she remarked. "Don't you hate sweets?"

    "Is that something you should concern yourself about?" he asked back.

    She had this urge to curse at him but she stopped herself from doing so. If only not because of Sage's mother who was also with them. He was the only person she knew who could make her snap in just a few seconds no matter how long her patience was.

    "You two should stop arguing. Why don't the two of you don't get along?"

    She didn't know why either. His hatred was the only thing evident for her. She already got tired searching her memory for possible reason for him to hate her that much. For him, she was an eyesore.

    He lifted his head and their gazes locked. He glared at her with an intensity that tightened her chest. She averted her eyes from him. Then and now, uneasiness would always sweep over her whenever Hunter was around. She lost her appetite suddenly. She decided to change the topic instead.

    "Hey, tita," she started. She tried to make her voice sound cheerful as she could. "Did you know that Sage has an upcoming film? He's still probably in shooting right now. And next week their next shooting location is in Puerto Galera. I plan to go with him there."

    "What?" Hunter exclaimed in surprise. 

    She turned her gaze at him and met his dagger look. And even though she was scared, she tried to compose herself. With a steady voice, she answered, "Why? I haven't been there yet. I want to see the beach. It would be a shame if I've only been at malls in my one month of staying here."

    His jaw clenched at hearing her reason. "Really? Is that all to it?" He knew that was not the only reason. It was because of Sage.

    "Yes," she answered without batting an eyelash.

    He wanted to laugh all of a sudden. Did she honestly think she could lie to him? He knew her very well. He knew how much she loved his cousin. That night, he saw the pain in her eyes as she watched Rainee and Sage held hands. It was already evident that whatever feelings she had for his cousin, it would be hopeless. She already had no chance. But here she was, still going for it. Woman. He found them unbelievable as they would go at any lengths just for this so-called love.

    "I should at least enjoy my stay here. I was gone for a long time. And in New York all I could see every day were skyscrapers. A change of scenery would be nice," she added. She just hoped he would believe her.

    "I'm sure you would like it there, Gianna. We went there last year. You're probably stressed from your work, you need some break."

    She smiled. Why, of course she would. At least there she won't see that woman. And she doubted that she would come with him. She was already looking forward to it. At least there she won't see that woman. She doubted Rainee would come along with Sage. After all, he would only go there to shoot some scenes for his upcoming film. She just hoped no one would get in her way.

“You killed me. And it was not only my heart you broke into pieces, you tore me apart.”

What can you do for the sake of love? For Gianna, she would fight for her love no matter who gets hurt in the process. After all, she first met Sage, her childhood friend. It was her who first loved him. She was deeply hurt when she learned that he already had a girlfriend. She went to back to Philippines to win him back. She would do everything to make his heart waver. She wanted him and only him. And if it’s not him, then no one could ever replace him in her heart.

But what if there’s someone who wanted to stop her plans? Hunter Jade Ruiz—the cousin of his childhood friend. If she was determined to take back Sage, and so Hunter too. He was also determined to stop her.

“If you don't want to get devoured by this monster then you better not do anything that will piss me off," he warned her.

He was scary as hell. But would that make her stop? Or should she finally learn to let go and sacrifice her happiness for the sake of the person she loves?

In retrospect, the life of the vast majority of people in college was not that exciting.
Every corner of the campus exuded the gross scent of love, where couples publicly displayed their affection everywhere. The classic scenes of romance novels were brought to life here every night. The president of the student union and the heads of various clubs were in high spirits, organizing various activities. However, the buzz couldn't conceal the fact that most people were single. The only three places that they could go were the dormitory, canteen, and classroom, either attending classes or having fun with their roommates.
It was as if the city was an exciting place, but it had nothing to do with most people.
After graduation, they would soon realize that they actually didn't do much during their time in college. Life on campus didn't feel so monotonous and boring, though. Even if the students were bored, there was always someone around to spend time with them.
It was not until they entered society, that they realized the familiar avatars in their friend list on a random game hadn't come online for a long time. The online game that they used to play together had now been replaced by other online games.
This specific breed of loneliness was probably called growing up...
Those, however, were the things that they had to consider in the future. For now, the four, still in their sophomore year, felt like college life would never end.
Today, the film club was slated to play a Quentin classic in the small auditorium—Django Unchained. After a meal, Chen Huadong dragged Zhang Heng and Wei Jiangyang to watch the movie together in flip-flops. They paid two yuan each before entering the auditorium.
Although they came twenty minutes before the movie started, many were already seated. The first few rows of seats were either occupied or reserved.
Chen Huadong did not rush to find a seat. Instead, he looked around him and saw many pretty girls. Some of them came with boyfriends, meaning he wouldn't have to chance to talk to them. Others sat alongside their roommate or friends...
Chen Huadong was one who lacked guts. After struggling for a long time, he saw many pretty girls, but he had no courage to make a move to sit beside one of them. After all, there were still so many empty seats in the auditorium. If he went ahead and sat beside a gorgeous one, everyone would find out his true intention.
"Over the top. I think they are over the top. It doesn't match my calm and mature temperament." Chen Huadong shook his head and chose one of the seats in the middle row. However, he made sure to explore the possibility of sitting next to some of the girls that came late. Hence, he picked a seat where both of his sides were still empty.
If what he imagined came true, he could only blame it on fate.
Wei Jiangyang sat on his left side, while Zhang Heng sat near the aisle. Wei Jiangyang then said, "Master Chen, if you continue to act like this, I am afraid that you'll be single for the rest of your four years in college."
"Show me what to do in this situation then?" Chen Huadong squinted at Wei Jiangyang, "Sit right there?"
"It's inappropriate. This trick can only be used by Young Master Zhang. I'm afraid that the ordinary people of my generation will be unable to master it," Wei Jiangyang shook his head.
"That's not enough. In the end, one's look is still the most important factor to attract girls," Chen Huadong sneered. "If I were blessed with a handsome face, I wouldn't worry about where I should sit. I could sit wherever I want, and the girls would automatically flock to me."
"That makes sense."

Chen Huadong's wishful thinking eventually fell through. In the end, the seats in the auditorium were not fully occupied. A boy sat next to him, though, and the two silently looked at each other, glimpsing a touch of loneliness in each other's eyes.
"Why do men make another man suffer?" Wei Jiangyang said.
Similar things were happening everywhere in the auditorium. This was the age where hormones raged. However, bashfulness got the better of them, and it was causing both the boys and girls to be too embarrassed to take the first step. Everyone was waiting for the signal to make up for the next ninety-nine steps. Yet, no one was willing to take the most critical step—the first.
As such, a love story would not be born here.
Seeing that the auditorium was full, the film club stopped letting people in and began the movie began to play. The students' commotion calmed down as well, as the crowd started to immerse themselves in the film.
The bounty hunter Schultz, pretending to be a dentist, brought the black man called Django to hunt down their target, and their enemies outnumbered them. When Chen Huadong saw that, he commented, "Quentin is a legend. The scenes are pretty explicit. How did the film club members get their hands on the uncensored version? I want to be a bounty hunter now. I envy their lives so much! They ride their horses everywhere to bring down the scales of justice, and they were paid to do that. Life can't get any better than that."
"Hey, wasn't your dream moving to Japan to be a porn director?" Wei Jiangyang asked.
Zhang Heng, on the other side, shook his head. "It's not that simple being a bounty hunter. The risks outweigh the benefits. The west is vast, and people have to endure extreme heat all the time. No one can work as a bounty hunter forever. If you possess the skills for that, it would be better to move into a small town and become their sheriff."
"Pfft. You make it sound like you've worked as a bounty hunter before," Chen Huadong rolled his eyes.
The movie was rather lengthy. The North American version was 165 minutes in total, which was almost three hours. The movie started at seven in the evening, and only ended around ten. When the ending credits started rolling, students started to leave the auditorium one after another while discussing the movie they had just watched. Chen Huadong felt that the dentist was too impulsive, and thanks to his inability to let go of his grudge, he was killed in the end. It was really not worth it. As for Wei Jiangyang, he was interested in the explicit scenes. With a newfound interest in Quentin Tarantino, he decided to binge-watch the "Kill Bill" trilogy.
After the movie, Zhang Heng discovered that he had received a new email.
After looking at the sender, Zhang Heng realized that the inevitable had come.
It was an email from the game committee.
Its contents told about the proxy war that was bound to happen in a week. At the same time, other agents in various places had also received the same email. Zhang Heng found a secluded corner and opened up the mail to read it. 
The organizing committee first congratulated Zhang Heng for entering the second stage of the game and announced the time and general rules.
The rules were almost the same as before. It was still quest-based, but the new quests were no longer the ones where the player needed to master their skills and search for game items. They would now be more inclined to a level system. And these quests would be more dangerous and unpredictable—they adopted the elimination system, their purpose similar to what the old man in Tang suit told him. They were carried out to rank all the agents, and the final winner stood to get a mysterious gift prepared by the organizing committee.


Growing up with eccentric materialistic parents who left him in the care of his grandfather for a job overseas, Zhang Heng had learned to adapt and be unfettered by the oddities and challenges in life. But he would soon learn the baffling truth about the world he thought he knew when one day at midnight time froze and he found himself in a world so quiet and still it was deafening. That night, he discovered that he had 24 hours more than everybody else and thus, marked the beginning of his adventures. The mysteries surrounding his newfound ability only deepened when a strange old man claimed to have given Zhang Heng that ‘gift of time’ and recruited the young man to participate in a cryptic ‘life-changing’ game on his behalf. Little did Zhang Heng know that accepting those terms meant embroiling himself in many versions of reality and exposing himself to the hidden secrets of the world—a decision he could never undo.

Treasures and Snatchers: Level Three (part 25)
Qiao rested the night and counted how many days has gone since he was thrown in this world. Two weeks has gone that he did not see his younger brother. What was he doing and how long his elder brother would take to defeat his enemy. Where was that wicked hunter whether hiding in this world or somewhere.
The wicked hunter was confused why the man let his trusted men leave, he was thinking to kill them during some hunt to break the determination of this young man but it turned out that he was smarter than he think. Qiao has his strong premonition about the wicked hunter though he was given chance to level up but it did not means that he would be give free path for this. He remembered his favorite story which later turned into comics and film, the villain gave a chance to the protagonist but he himself created troubles so that he should accept defeat in the middle of the journey.
His present situation was no different and he could sense it very well. The wicked hunter has lot of sources and treasures to turn everything upside down to turn it in his favor but he was to do few things. He could change the form of quests, could manipulate the type of missions after reaching to the Hightown and stop those help this young man with all heart.
He was actually preparing how he would hinder his path after reaching Hightown, he would be choosing insanely dangerous places for the missions and class tests. Till then Qiao has some time to learn as much as he could. He closed his eyes to sleep. A small kid was playing in the empty house, someone told that his older brother was gone somewhere to find a good job, if he could not pass the test for job he might never return. So the younger kid prayed everyday for his brother and spent his days alone and sleep in the house of her neighbor who took pity on his innocence.
If Qiao happened to see his younger brother in this condition, he would have cried for not protecting his younger brother and giving him a good life. He must have regretted to no end.
Qiao hurriedly woke up with the nightmare, his throat was parched and dry, he was crying to see his younger brother in bad condition in his dream. In the night the bandits came to steal again but they found nothing other than shapeless stone. They were not interested to take it with them so they left disappointed.
Qiao left the cottage to venture in the forest, until now he got familiar with various parts of the forest and how it was divided with the levels of the monsters for the sake of chasers. This was his first day as alone rogue and for the first time he was going to hunt alone so he thought to only look for level one monster, it would give him spoils if not experience.
His first priority was to buy the booklet and learn about Hightown. When he would register himself in the Starglow Guild, he would have to work under some teams and he might not be able to learn under their sharp gazes and observation. From the yesternight incident he was able to know that all those teams were distrustful especially when someone was aspiring to focus on leaving Middletown.
Thankfully those teams who were his enemies were stronger and would not venture in this part of the forest so he could expect a peaceful hunt, if this really went well then he would hunt another level one monster to bargain with the old owner of the bookstore. He reached the forest and looked around as if walking in the market to look for a shop of his taste. After all he was strong compared to the level one monster.
"Hey monster, come out buddy, I need your spoils." he voiced. He was much serious when he called the monster. "Wait, even if I am looking for a level one monster, should not I be more careful because it is still monster. Though I have some muscle to brawl head on with monster but I should not be doing this." he spoke to himself and shook his head.
Monsters were naturally stronger and this was the reason which forced all chasers and hunters to form teams. The part of forest where was standing was scars of vines instead bear bald head trunks of trees, open sign of autumn falling like a brutal enemy of the leaves of trees.
He cannot set a trap nor could go back and buy, he might have went back to buy but he has nothing to bargain in return. "Qiao, think another way." he spoke to himself which was pretty strange. He was talking to himself the time he entered in the forest. It feels like he has someone else with him but it has become his habit to talk with his men when hunting.
"I better use these trunks for hiding and then surprise attack at some stray monster." he nodded to himself and chose one. In this part monsters usually wander in groups in night and in day they tried best to hide from teams.
Still few monsters wander in search of food.
Qiao was waiting by staying up at the trunk in case more than one monster happened to appear, it took some time and finally a level one monster showed up. It was level one and Qiao could easily hunt it down with his present level just that he has to show some extra agility after first attack. 
He has to test his limit today as a single hunter if not then his first solo hunt would go to waste. "Wait there, I am coming down." He yelled and jumped down with the attack thinking what was the most vital part of the monster for attack.

The Rigordile rode the waves, using its streamlined form to its advantage. The Steel Porcupine sat on its back, hissing as they neared the Lava Turtles. The Lava Turtles were busy resisting the waves, preventing themselves from tumbling and rolling over like a piece of log.
The Hunter Clams shaped their jelly-like tentacles into paddles of all shapes to row the water and balance the Lava Turtles. Even then, the River Whale's repeated churning of the waves disrupted them each time.
Now, without any extra burden to carry, the River Whale could move at its usual speed, revolving faster and faster as the height of the tides increased, reaching as high as four metres. The currents in them grew stronger while faint wind accompanied them.
The rumbling sound they produced soon become as loud as the sea waves on a beach, making it resemble nature's might slowly but steadily. Jyorta felt his vision spin due to the motions, using his psychic energy to maintain his inertia and keep his senses wired in order.
The commotion garnered the attention of the other Lava Turtles that gazed at the River Whale and shot geysers at it. The geysers travelled more than 40 metres before slamming into the River Whale, disrupting it, preventing it from affecting the water on the surface any longer.
If it still persisted in continuing with its efforts, then it would be swatted to the ground. Jyorta controlled its actions, making it fly towards the attackers. He watched three geysers fly his way; the River Whale consumed a greater portion of its psychic energy, activating its Trait to the limit.
The geysers bent in the air, curving away from it. The River Whale was unaffected, moving forth as the attacks were slightly redirected.
Kuoong!
The River Whale let out a long, powerful shout as it arrived above a Lava Turtle was still trying to regain its balance. Without any delays, it moved over the Lava Turtle's head, making its film of water overlap it.
It allowed the Lava Turtle's head to move into the film of water before constricting around it. The water held the Lava Turtle, moving down its neck as it seeped into the gaps in its shell. Everything happened in the short window the River Whale passed above it.
The water pulled the Lava Turtle along s the River Whale groaned in pain, feeling a lot of strain throughout its body. Lava Turtles were heavier than the Rigordiles. Adding onto the additional weight they carried on their backs, they were bulky targets to pick up.
Jyorta was controlling the River Whale's actions, making it thing and use something it hadn't ever tried. the Lava Turtle let out a thin roar, most of its shout absorbed by the film of water; ripples formed as a result, showing the intensity of the shout.
The Hunter Clams on its back tried their best to hack and slash at the water to rip it off thew River Whale's control. But for some reason, the water behaved like a live body part, moving and coiling around the Lava Turtle, retaining its connection through numerous coils and windings.
The Lava Turtle felt a lot of strain in its neck, for it was all the River Whale was trying to lift. The Hunter Clams coiled their tentacles around its neck and held the shell, reducing the strain it felt.
The River Whale struggled, hiccupping in its flight as it pulled up the Lava Turtle, steadily increasing in altitude. The Lava Turtle tried to break free, slamming its legs onto the film of water, unable to enter it.
The Hunter Clams slammed at the film of water, spilling out parts of it while causing its entirety to ripple. The ripples were becoming bigger and bigger. Jyorta felt the currents within the ripples slam into his psychic arm barrier, cracking it under the pressure.
He expended more psychic energy to mend it while commanding the River Whale to take action. The River Whale took curved manoeuvres in the air, beginning to spin, adding the centrifugal force into the Lava Turtle.
Its psychic energy was expended at a massive rate while the film of water surrounding it began to thin out. The Hunter Clams tried their best to keep the Lava Turtle's neck attached to its body while the Lava Turtle could only shout in pain.
The River Whale moved forward while revolving; Jyorta calculated based on the spin and their forward motion, calculating all the forces into play before deriving a point of target based on his instinctual reasoning.
He gazed at the Lava Turtles there were beginning to get up as the waves died down, making the River Whale continue with its motion before aligning with his calculations, bellowing, "Release it!"
The River Whale let go of the portion of the film of water, watching the Lava Turtle catapult towards the ground. The Hunter Clams on its back extended their jelly-like tentacles, trying to grab hold of the film of water. But, it was just water, and under the River Whale's control, it was a fluid substance that the Hunter Clams couldn't grab hold off.
The Lava Turtle shouted as it flew like a canon ball, accelerating to a tremendous speed thanks to its bulky mass. The momentum it carried continued to increase alarmingly. The target of its impact was a group of four Lava Turtles there were flustered at its appearance.
The they opened their mouths to unleash the geysers when the Lava Turtle slammed into them, its hard shell making the contact in the impact. A thunderous sound reverberated as the water was spilled high, creating a large tide that proceeded towards both the ends of the path.
The impact, the hardness of the shell, and its body weight made it a powerful slam that shattered the defences of the victim Lava Turtles. Their shells shattered while their broke, piercing their internal organs. The Hunter Clams had their shells broken into tiny fragments while their soft bodies were squished between the giants.
The Rigordile jumped on them in this situation, aiming at their necks with its claws. Even after such a powerful impact, not one Lava Turtle had died. But, they couldn't move for the time being, suffering from critical injuries. The Hunter Clams were still recovering from the impact when the Rigordile and the Bundle Flea jumped on them.
The Rigordile brandished its claws and severed the head of a Lava Turtle. The Bundle Flea bound its hair around a Lava Turtle's neck and tightened it, using the sharpness of its hair to dig into it and sever. Its hair began to burn the moment the Lava Turtle's blood spilled on it.
The Bundle Flea hissed in pain as it finished severing the Lava Turtle, shedding the damaged hair before jumping towards another. The Rigordile shuddered, watching blood leak out from the roots of its nails.
Despite the Shoe Fish covering the part, it too was affected by the heat. The bodies of the Lava Turtles were just too hot that it suffered damaged every time it attacked.
The River Whale oriented itself, looking a bit exhausted as it dodged numerous geysers flying its way. It was acting as the bait while the Rigordile and Bundle Flea killed the injured Lava Turtles. Whenever it dodged an attack, Jyorta retaliated with an aura beam of his own.
Unfortunately, the aura in the air resisted his aura, decreasing its potency greatly. The greater the distance it had to travel, the more the aura in it was helplessly expended, decreasing the power behind his attacks. As the enemies were numerous and also possessed powerful strength, Jyorta dared not unleash a full powered aura beam.
It was in fear that he wouldn't be able to timely reach to their retaliation. The River Whale scuttled all over the air, mostly sticking to the ceiling to obtain more reaction time. many boulders began to float on the water, approaching their area.
Jyorta noticed the severity of the situation, fishing out the Tier 3 Artifact—Dynamic Brethren Bait. If he didn't use it, then the situation would progress beyond his capability. He made the River Whale fly closer to the Lava Turtles, using most of the power in its Trait to bend the geysers away from it.
As the number of geysers increased, the distance and angle it could bend them reduced. Soon, even when it tried to bend them, a portion of them still struck its film of water. The high-paced battle prevented it from filtering them out.
His psychic energy expenditure further increased as the water around him turned yellow. The pollution in it was getting concentrated as the River Whale was attacked from all sides. His two Soul Corneas siphoned energy from the River Whale's soul, replenishing his reserves as he activated the Tier 3 Relic.
A colourless mist seeped out from hollow end of the tube, heading towards the Lava Turtles as the River Whale neared them. Thanks to the proximity, it was unable to dodge the attacks, its film of water getting shaved with every attack. Soon, it bore the brunt of the attacks with its body.
A portion of the water fell on Jyorta, eating away at his psychic arm. As he was seated atop the River Whale, and positioned right behind its horn, he didn't face the brunt of the impact. Otherwise, his psychic arm barrier wouldn't last for an instant.
Still, his barrier cracked at many places as the water fell on his armour, damaging it. It looked like it wouldn't last long. Jyorta could feel the heat and aura trying to seep into him as he watched at the colourless mist with anticipation. The colourless mist slowly spread through the region. He had expended almost 80 percent of his psychic energy reserves in activating the Relic.

A short time later the Hunters and the Orc clashed. The trio had fallen into a state of panic but somehow recovered just in time and started firing their guns.

Sae-Jin dashed towards the scene as he listened to the sound of the gunshot. He just couldn't sit back and watch, knowing that he was partially responsible for this mess, even though he didn't plan things to happen this way.

Fortunately, Sae-Jin arrived in the nick of time. Moving fast enough to cause a storm of winds, the wolf opened wide its maws and bit down hard on the right arm of the Orc Jaguar.
Kwajeek.
But what he got was a sensation of blockage, the lack of the satisfying penetration. It was not possible even for the incredible biting strength of a Grey Wolf to pierce the tough and thick skin of an Orc Jaguar. When the Orc looked at his way indifferently, Sae-Jin couldn't help but busily move his eyes and take a glance at the creature.
"—-!!"
The Orc roared in irritation and swung its arm hard, throwing Sae-Jin off it. He quickly regained his footing after being thrown off and took some distance, but the explosive speed of the Orc Jaguar was much faster than his expectations. As befitting of the moniker, "Jaguar". Its speed didn't lose out to that of a Grey Wolf at all.
It seemed to take only a couple of steps, but it had arrived at Sae-Jin's location and slammed down its weapon at him.
Khoong!!!
Sae-Jin just about dodged the strike by twisting his body.
"Ghuoaar!!"
Annoyed by the agile movement of the Wolf, the Orc Jaguar began pounding away like crazy with its blunt weapon. The accuracy was pretty d**n low but the destructive power behind each strike was no laughing matter. Sae-Jin twisted around like a snake and avoided the crazed attacks. But the ground below could not withstand the aimless poundings and became overturned like a crop field ready for seeds to be planted, while numerous debris – pebbles, soil, weeds – flew up in the air.

Meanwhile, the three stooges Hunters sat there and stared at this scene in a total daze. It was like they were stuck inside a dream. It had to be a dream since this event they were seeing couldn't be reality, as the Low Tier Monster Grey Wolf was fighting tooth and nail with an Orc Jaguar that was considered to be one of the strongest even in the low Mid Tier rankings.
As they watched the proceedings in a daze, the woman suddenly raised her gun towards the battle.
"Hey, hey, what are you doing?"
One of the men panicked and tried to stop her. The other guy did the same. The two of them thought that instead of trying to agitate the two Monsters, it would be a far smarter choice to escape during this time of reprieve.
"An Orc Jaguar is known as an obsessive Monster. It's got a good nose too, and it will never let a prey it found escape like that. Dunno if that Wolf intervened in order to buy us time to run, but it's the correct choice to help it out right now."
What if the wolf targets us next after the Orc Jaguar is dead?! The male Hunter couldn't spit his words out. If it weren't for that wolf, they would have died already, and if that wolf couldn't defeat the Orc, then they would still die anyway.
"Aim mainly at the eyes, between the eyebrows, mouth, and under the arm."

They had received the ranks of low Mid and Mid Tier at the age of 23, meaning all three of them had enough skills to roll around in this rough world by themselves. They quickly reloaded their guns and took aim at the battle of a Wolf and an Orc. Even though the Orc exposed a lot of openings because of its lack of palpable intelligence, all of them proved to be useless in the end. The Hunters had to aim at those weak spots where there wasn't much covering of thick skin, or where there weren't any to begin with.
Kwaaaahng!!
The Orc pounded hard once more, but it was yet another miss. It ended up destroying the poor ground again, so it widened its eyes in anger and searched for the slippery Wolf.
And when it stopped its movement for a brief moment, an oval shaped object with a pointy tip sliced past the wind and and struck one of the Orc's eyes.
"Kuoarrrrr!!"
It was a Mana bullet. As the bullet that was densely infused with Mana came in contact with the Orc's retina, it exploded – and the hulking creature spouted blood as it stumbled backwards just a little.
BlamBlamBlamBlam!!
As the flurry of bullets flew at it aiming for the weak spots, the Orc raised its arm and easily swatted them away.
With one of its eyes gone, the focus of the Orc Jaguar's fury switched its target from the Wolf to the three Hunters. Its anger boiled so much that it'd pounce on the three humans at any moment.
"It's coming!! Separate, now!!"
When the Orc unwisely started moving towards the Hunters while ignoring the Wolf, Sae-Jin's chance had come.
He activated the skill Warrior of Reversal.
Almost immediately, his muscles grew at an incredible speed and vitality filled his body. When the fighting spirit that could not be doused burned powerfully inside him, Sae-Jin decided to relieve this feeling with him ripping out the back of the Orc's neck.
The Wolf, with its body completely transformed, assaulted the back of the Orc like a raging, crashing storm wave.
He only needed two full steps. Wind gathered below his paws and using the propulsion from them, he charged into the Orc's back.
Kwajeek.
Sae-Jin finally succeeded in piercing through the skin. But, it still wasn't a fatal enough wound. So, he shook his head around in order to further tear open a larger chunk of the wound.
"Khoarrrr!!"
The Orc screamed in pain and tried to pry the Wolf off from its back. But Sae-Jin's temporarily enhanced jaw strength could ignore the creature's desperate shakings. While biting deeper into the neck of the Orc, he sent out signals with his eyes at the Hunters. It was their turn to shine, now.
"…*breathing heavily*…"
The woman Hunter aimed the handgun with her imperceptibly trembling hands. The target was the Orc's left eye.
The Orc raged around powerfully, but she didn't hesitate one bit as she squeezed the trigger.
The steel-encased Mana bullet drew a clear trajectory as it flew towards the Orc. Literally, it was clear to see. Its speed wasn't of a regular bullet. As if it was a flower petal blowing around in the wind, the Mana bullet slowly approached the Orc.
It was a built-in feature of this high priced firearm designed to maximise accuracy.
The damage from the speed of the bullet would lessen but since it was going to explode once entering the target, the design of a steel-encased Mana bullet was also focused solely on achieving high accuracy.
She manipulated her Mana and guided the trajectory and the direction of the bullet in real time. The bullet constantly changed its aim as the Orc violently struggled until finally, it struck the creature's eye.
A small explosion followed right after. A fountain of blood poured out from the Orc's eye.
"Whew."
It was a bull's eye. She breathed out a sigh of relief.
Even though the Orc had become completely blind, the Wolf remained biting into the neck for a few more seconds before separating from the creature.
"Khwo- kheu-"
The back of the neck chewed out by the Wolf looked as if it'd split apart in any second, and from the eyes damaged by the bullets blood poured out like a fountain. The Orc Jaguar let out a weird whimper and threw its two arms around, but even that didn't last long.

The creature fell on top of the grass and stopped moving shortly thereafter.
"Haah…."
When the battle ended, the three Hunters fell on their asses again as the strength abandoned their legs.
Sae-Jin was breathing heavily as he spat out the blood pooled in his mouth. And before long, a new message window popped into his view.

"Its fur changed while brightly shining and all that, right?"

When the Wolf's body was enveloped in the mysterious azure light, the previously grey coat became dyed in jet black colour. This was a kind of an incredibly rare event that couldn't be seen again even in a dream.

It was at night. With a full moon looming large, a huge crowd of people had camped in the the Monster field's Low Tier hunting ground. But it wasn't just people only. There were also numerous trucks, antennae, cameras and mics that couldn't normally be seen in a place like this; in other words, they were news crews and their accompanying vehicles. Under the curious gazes of one or two onlookers, the reporters were all in the midst of busy reporting on something while being protected by the Knights.
"….Can you tell me what is going on here?"
Sae-Jin cautiously approached one of the Knights on duty and asked. He assumed the Human Form and ran all the way out here, after suddenly catching the whiff of so many people and getting surprised by that.
"It's to film a report. You probably have heard of the rumour, too, right? They say it's a Spirit Beast or something… Obviously it's all nonsense. But nowadays, what with folks being emotionally dried up and all, stuff like this…. Tsk, tsk."
The Knight who was normally stationed around these parts clicked his tongue in annoyance as if he didn't like getting called out in the middle of the night.
There was this hot new story tossing around on the Internet as well as on various newspapers. It was about a certain Grey Wolf that morphed into an Ebony Wolf – a story of a Spirit Beast. This story came to life after three Hunters gave a clear, concise eyewitness testimony as well as uploading the photos of the Orc Jaguar's remains to the Hunters Cafe.
The Hunters all spoke of the event where, after the Grey Wolf aided them in defeating the Orc Jaguar, its body suddenly became dyed in the azure light, then all of its fur turned black in colour.
The eyewitnesses guessed that this wolf was one of those growth-type Monsters, but as the story spread out like a wildfire, people, including the so-called experts, concluded from the creature's actions that it must be a Spirit Beast instead.
The reason was simple. Monsters tried to devour humans, but this particular wolf helped them out. And after the part about its fur changing colours were emphasized, a certain persuasive speculation gained traction where people wondered if this wolf was the same one that saved the Hunter Kim Tae-Jo way back then.
"What will happen if this wolf shows up?"
Sae-Jin carefully asked again.
"Probably nothing more than getting shot at by the cameras."
"Huh… So it's not going to get hunted down?"
"Fuhut. Hey, Mister Diligent Hunter, I get your dedication to your work, but if we try anything here, the public will crucify all of us."

"But man, between us, aren't these news reporter people dumb as hell? I mean, a wolf is a very skittish creature, so why raise so much fuss as a group….?"

The dignified stance that couldn't have possibly belonged to a wolf, the majestic body overflowing with confidence. The black fur coat that seemed to shine softly under the moonlight, and a pair of golden eyes that burned brightly. And finally, a mysterious howl that could shake their souls.

A wolf was not a tiger, but everyone gathered here could definitely feel the same thing. The wolf that was proudly surveying the ground here was definitely the "Sangun". (TL: it's a Hanja word that means a few things – one, meaning the guardian of the mountains, two, literally a fierce tiger, and the MC from a Naver webtoon, Brother Tiger Bar Khan. I thought the author meant the first two, so left as is.)
"….Hey, wake up!! Start filming already!!"
The dazed members of the press began to move in a hurry. They hefted the cameras and began hunting for the best angle to capture the view of that proud creature.

It'd be a huge scoop if captured on film. A guy that looked like a producer or a director yelled loudly while making a shocked expression. At this shout, the cameraman nodded his still-dazed face but at the same time…
"Hey, where did it go?!"
As if the previous event was nothing but a passing dream, the Wolf's presence had disappeared completely.
