"Alright let's get to it chap!"

Now... I've talked about spell intent, elements, and structure before.

But what he did blew all my minds out of the water, figuratively speaking.

He created a spell structure, and pulled in fire elements to fill in the frame, and then ice elements to fill it.

Okay, fine, go ahead. Works for me.

Except I finally got to learn something about the physics of this world which directly was different from the other world I'd lived in.

On earth, heat is the measurement of how fast a particle moves, or a measure of its internal energy? Something along those lines.

Essentially kinetic energy is heat? Yeah? Sorta? Not exactly, but there's an idea of truth somewhere in there, I just can't remember it.

In this world... heat is it's whole other thing.

An actual form of energy exists that is just "heat".

Funnily enough, heat and the internal energy or whatever it actually is a measurement of on earth are directly related still. It's in the sense that within a certain range of a particles energy, from max energy the substance can hold without exploding, to a certain resting state, (room temperatures energy amount on earth, funnily enough), the heat energy will match it.

However, the energy of 'heat' has no limit, and after the internal energy amount where it'll explode, it's theoretically possible(using magic of course) to raise the temperature even beyond that, infinitely, so outside that maximum, they are no longer related.

Now here's the 'WHAT THE FUCK' part.

At room temperature, the energy of heat is cancelled out by an opposing energy, of cold.

Yep. Cold is also an energy, also related to internal energy, from minimum(where all motion is stopped) to room temp. And just like heat, magic can make it grow colder infinitely.

So we do NOT have an absolute zero in this world! Huh.

And everything holds heat, cold, or both. And they cancel one another out.

So room temperature is considered the 0 of this world, as neither temperature-based energy can have any effect. 

Now you may have figured out what he did, or the exploration of this world's laws and principles has bored you.

I don't really care, cause what happened was AWESOME, and I'm now gonna know how to do it.

The ice particles filled in the frame of fire, and Fire was created that wasn't made of the energy of heat, but of cold.

In other words... an icy blue flame of frost appeared. And I instinctively knew this was how that Snow Phoenix Feather had fire and ice both surrounding it. 

'A phoenix of IceFire... that sounds awesome...'

"Ahahaha! You got any decent fire spells to put this into use with chap?"

One of the few me's(I'll go with that I guess) not already occupied with doing something figuratively leapt up at this opportunity.

Using the ready-made IceFire, I drew it into the spell work of my most patented and used spell of all: FoxFire!

"FoxFire:IceFire!" I yelled out the name, excitement at doing something truly beyond the understanding of earth filling me, as white-blue icy spheres formed, 5 of them, and my excitement became sweet, sweet satisfaction.

'Oh please be good, please be good!' A remaining me prayed while watching the rest of us fight.

The icy fireballs shot out, and as they hit, they not only hit with enough force to blow up a head, but right after everything they hit was frozen solid!

'It's like following up a contained grenade with a Freezing Spell... oh I'm loving this man... I'm not even mad you just entered my body now.'

The aura may block the explosion, but it has to break the frost after, and even puppets can't make their aura regenerate fast enough to make the ice have no effect!

Heat and force from an explosion can both be blocked by a shield, but the frost will just grow over the shield, meaning you still got ice on you!

In other words, ice energy will hit a tad slower than Fire energy, meaning that the delay messes with aura more.

Keep in mind, their mana was getting weaker as Draining Darkness continued. Plus Metal Decay weakened their joints bit-by-bit, and I was not even slowing down in movement.

Honestly, this multiple mind in one body thing is so bullshit even I want to call a GM on myself!

"Hey kid, are you by any chance a spirit Mage?"

'Huh? No, but I want to be... how can you tell?'

"The spirit in your sword."

'Do you know how to get it out?'

"Eh, I could tell you... but I think I'll do you a better one instead."

'...huh?'

A few of the joints in the puppets began to break at that moment under the rust and cold, and their movements kept slowing as the mana driving them was slowly drained.

I lost control of my body as multiple me's began to merge back together, each merging giving me full memory of all I'd done from both sides during that time.

Now there was 4 of me watching, as he took over my body, and sheathed my sword.

'Are you trying to kill me!?'

'Dammit man, are you so undependable!'

'Maybe he's got a plan me's?'

'Don't kid yourself me.'

My body twisted past a puppets awkward, broken lunge, and my fingers dragged across its chest as energy spread from my hand.

5 strings of many, one attached to each fingertip, extending to the Puppet, as the stranger rolled my body below an attack, bringing the other hand to attach 5 strings to the one who had just attacked, and stepped back from them both, retreating.

One of the me's noted in the corner of our eye that Luna and Fenrir were still frozen it seemed, but the other 3 of us just watched.

He drew my hands closed, in an 'X' across my chest, and ideas of magic and intent I doubt I'll ever understand flowed through.

The puppets had all the energy in them... torn out.

In terms of reality, it appeared a yellow-red Light was yanked out of each by 5 strings, but in the vision of mana all of me could see the entirety of the puppets energy, enchantments, and mana circuits being torn out of it.

Along with the mana and energy, came bronze. All the bronze liquified, melting into a sphere of bronze liquid floating before my body.

He controlled my arms to swirl, and all the energies were forcibly put into the bronze sphere, and then he drew my shortsword.

'What the heck is happening?'

"I'm helping you out, now shut up. Noisy fellow, ain't ya?"

And he freaking tossed my sword into the metal ball!

His energies continued to swirl about the sphere, as it extended out, black-steel and golden-bronze swirling about one another as my blade melted into it.

And then... he asked me, "What is balance to you?"

'Huh?' The question was answered by 4 clueless minds.

"What do you consider the balance of light and dark?"

'...a cycle?'

"Hmm?"

Somewhat encouraged by his tone, that bit of me continued. 'A cycle of light and dark, as both are equal and opposite forces, as there always must be in nature. Heat and cold, light and dark, life and death. It's a balance made by a cycle, where each leads to the other.'

Another me popped in. 'Like Yin and Yang?

'Exactly!' Was the first me's response. 

A third me: 'In terms of philosophy, you can always count on eastern culture I guess... that's where Buddha's from after all, and his is the most widespread philosophy of Earth, to the point it's known as a religion.'

"So in your balance, what do other things belong to? When you have light, dark, life, and death, what goes together and what opposes the others?" The man asked, getting to a point somewhere I hope.

'Light and Life are placed together as their concepts have always matched, and Darkness will go with Death, because that's what people believe, and that's the cycle.'

"What about heat and cold?"

'Heat goes with light, cold with dark!'

"Doesn't your own body pair heat with dark and cold with light though?"

'Doesn't mean that's what we believe!'

"Hmm... but if they're opposites, how can IceFire exist?"

'They are opposing, yes, but the cycle is that one feeds another. Fire and Ice will cycle, balancing as they do, and the energy of one is not non-inclusive to the other. I guarantee a way exists to combine Light and Dark, as well as Life and Death, exists. It's just far beyond me.'

"How can you guarantee that?"

The ever-silent 4th me answered finally: 'They are a whole. The symbol of Yin and Yang is both positive and negative as a whole, cycling and balanced. If they are a whole, and considered as one, how can they be unable to mix at all?'

I think I might have a bit of a philosopher in me. I've used a lot of philosophy so far...

Finally he nodded my head, satisfied, and clapped his hands.

Energy pulsed through the sphere, and he reached into it, pulling out the product he created from my answers, the excess bronze falling to the floor as liquid to solidify, and he grabbed some leather from the wrappings around each puppets 'feet' for the grip.

It was... a sword, but a very different style than before.

Before it was a black, curved, made-for-slashing-shortsword. Now...

It was a perfectly straight double-edged blade. The leather-wrapped grip comfortably sat in my hand, with a bit extending out so that I COULD put a second hand on if I liked, with a round, clear gemstone as the pommel, or bottom of the grip.

However, there was no guard. It was a handle that extended straight into the base of the blade. It was as if someone cut the blade off a sword and directly glued a handle onto the cut base of the blade.

As for the blade itself... the design seemed to be most appropriate.

This story follows the chaotic life of someone who remembers little to none of his old life, and is now the last of the Kitsune, the Fox tribe of Beastkin. 

Born by a Dungeon’s creation, he is the Dungeon ‘Boss’ and has to deal with any and all attacks or threats to the goldmine he’s bound to.

What kind of life is he supposed to lead? 

Which takes precedence? Dungeon Boss, or the identity as the last of your race?

'My successor you have finally appeared'

Once Yunlong heard that voice he looked towards to void where the sound came from, to find a golden silhouette of a human figure, however he couldn't fully understand exactly what the being in front of him was.

'Wait successor? The hell, am I really one of those annoying MC's that will eventually become top of the world but have to go through all that nonsense plot to get there' thinking of this Yunlong had the urge to just request to go back to earth.

"Hmm, you are quite a funny one successor, and yes, all of your worries are indeed true, however one thing you have advantage of these so called 'MC's' is that you will have your memories of the 'universe' that you will be reincarnating at" said the voice at a moderate pace, however Yunlong could hear the amused tone within.

"Uh, excuse me you mentioned about successor, and from your previous statement you have already decided to where I will be reincarnating at?" Yunlong had asked in a respectful manner.

After all, even if his head was kicked by a donkey, he wouldn't dare be disrespectful to the being in front of him 'dammit, he could be the Creator for all I know'.

"Hehe, in some way you could consider me the Creator, however I am neither a god nor a being that should be worshipped, as I too can live and die, in fact the me you are currently speaking to is the last speck of power before I disappear and return to the void" replied the creator with an indifferent voice, which confused Yunlong.

'Wait, why is he so calm about being erased from existence, also is this why he wants me to be his successor, ugh but being a person who manages this void seems boring as hell' thought Yunlong but without waiting he asked "If I may ask, why exactly is a being as powerful as you at the end of his existence, and also what exactly am I succeeding?".

"To first get the answers to these questions, you must understand the vast multiverse we live in, for starters, the mission I am giving you is to find my daughter who has successfully reincarnated, however her soul is sealed within her new body and needs to be recovered" the creator explained, stunning Yunlong in the process.

"What the fu**, Creator who under the heavens would dare to kill your daughter?" at hearing his daughter had died, Yunlong was hoping there wasn't some overpowered villain that he'd have to face at the end of his 'novel'.

"Hahaha, young one your imagination is fascinating, but no, there are no beings that can match me in the many realities or multiverses" but he paused as he thought

'Well there is 'her' who can match my power... but that is up to you my successor'

Not showing any signs the Creator continued explaining "It is just that when I gave life to my daughter she was upset that life could no longer be born since all the life energy within the primal chaos was connected and concentrated on her body, meaning if she exists then no new beings could be born from the primal chaos, which is why after 10 million years she decided to dissipate her soul so that life could be spread across the primal chaos…"


"To her credit she did succeed in doing so… however how can I as a parent allow her to just remove herself from existence for others, so after forcefully tampering in the absolute laws of karma and the origin reincarnation cycle I had managed to reincarnate her into a new life, at the cost of position as a being one with the void, leaving me with a mortal lifespan these last few billion years, and luckily at the end I managed to find you my successor" explained the Creator with deep sorrow and regret clouding his voice.

When Yunlong had processed just this first bit of information he felt like this backstory was somewhat familiar, but what he was thinking the most was 'God damn, this woman is a saint, how could she even willingly do such a thing, makes me want to cherish her…' however as soon as this thought came through his head, as if a bucket of ice water that came from Pluto dropped on his head, he heard the Creator say in an emotionless voice

"Although you are my successor, I will not tolerate any nonsense with my daughter, understood"
Yunlong just nodded his head up and down as fast as he could, as if he was a chicken pecking on air seeds, sweat covering his non-existent body.

To change the subject, he proceeded to ask, "You mentioned the multiverse, what did you mean, can I travel to a lot of anime worlds?" hope and excitement filled within his voice.

But the savage that is the Creator just replied "nope", once that sound had dropped Yunlong himself just figuratively dropped to his knees, wondering why he wasn't these lucky b*stards who had 2D harems for themselves.

The Creator amused at this scene carried on "I am the Creator as I have become an entity that has become one with the void, however I was once just like you, a mortal, however I managed to understand laws and became the entity of the void. The void is what existence is born from, and is full of origin energy, no matter the form of energy: Qi (Chi/Ki), magic, chaos, primordial, primal chaos, profound energy, it is all born from origin energy. I have become the void, meaning my power connects the void (existence), however unlike my daughter, life energy is not connected to me"

"Moving on to my daughter, she became the entity that stabilises the primal chaos, which can be considered the second highest quality of energy, and she created life, thus in laymen's terms, you could consider me the God of Origin/Existence/Reality (Void God) whilst my daughter is the God of Creation/Life, however this isn't actually what we are. Although I say she is my daughter, she was actually the first existence created from the Primal Chaos Dimension, which was what I created from origin energy to bring me some entertainment at that time"

Yunlong has already turned into a Dum-Dum by the time the Creator had finished.

Ling Yunlong is an apathetic youth who was about to truly enter adulthood and was searching for his future, only for a phenomenon to occur that would forever change his life, and the life of millions of individuals across thousands of universes in the omniverse.

Finding himself in a situation where the common sense of his world could not explain his predicament, Yunlong was driven to madness before the Creator appeared before him, making him the successor of the Void.

Reincarnating into the Against the Gods universe and reborn as Yun Long, he decided to pave his way to the peak of existence in his new life, but it seems that the Creator may have other ideas for Yun Long and his so called traverse to the peak!

Its been days, yet the snow seemed to be nonstop on pouring over the Kingdom of Xhuan, where the youngest miss of the Xiao Manor lived in. Yet, the weather fully contradicted the situation in the youngest miss of the Xiao Manor's Courtyard. 

The sound of flames licking and covering each and every part of the Courtyard flicked and crashed into anyone's ears who were present. The bright orange flames that roared and rose up to ten meters high was very concentrated and ill- considerate. 

Even the strong snow and the moist among the Air was not enough to extinguish the roaring flames of death. 

Yet, the youngest miss stood in front of her own courtyard, smiling silently ear to ear. Her eyes contained cold line that could immediately freeze normal people to death. A few people would speculate that the youngest miss has lost her mind, smiling in front of her own burning courtyard. But had she really gone crazy?

A normal person, no, a large crowd of people would already think that those kind of emotions displayed on her face were inappropriate for a young girl of her age, however, the youngest miss wasn't the youngest miss anymore. 

An aura of gloominess and death surrounded her, her smile suddenly turned bigger at the sound of heavy footsteps nearing to her own position, and before they could tell it, she returned back to her original innocent countenance. 

A sweet and delicate frantic expression was on her face, as her large eyes had long gone that cold line but instead replaced with a scared look with a hint of innocence. Her delicate lips were bitten in nervousness as she fiddled with her fingers and shook slightly within her toes. With this, she turned from incredibly menacing menace to the sweetest and most innocent youngest miss of the Xiao Manor. 

She was barefoot and only wore two layers of clothing before she had escaped the tragedy, as her hair was untied yet tidy. One would find her appearance pitifully cute and pleasant to the eye, making some other onlookers want to grab her and protect. 

Some onlookers held a doubtful expressions before she turned innocent, but after they saw that innocent countenance they regularly saw on the youngest miss,  they didn't doubt further. 

The footsteps then reached the youngest miss, a man about 40 years of age and wore a set of dark brocade robes strode off in front of her before fisting his hands on his hips and asked in a scolding manner. 

"What's the meaning of this? Why is your own courtyard burning down? Where are the helpers?" 

The man seemed very surprised yet depressed, not even the slightest worried about the youngest Miss's condition. This man was her so called Father, she could tell just from the shards of the previous Xiao Lian Feng's memories, that this was the most cold-blooded father she had ever known.

Well, figuratively speaking, the new Xiao Lian Feng only ever had on father she acknowledged. 

His face was a beautiful craftsmanship, nose, lips and chin seemed to be carved from jade. Eyes were sharp as a Phoenix and very alerted. His hair was still very dark and his stature was mature and resolute, a highly notable aura of a cunning scholar radiated from his body. 

His face was regarded handsome, and if she could, she would definitely buy him off and turn him into one of her gigolos, yet, what a shame. He has a bastard's attitude.  

The youngest miss turned her expression blank for a moment, signaling she was thinking, before she answered in her normally sweet manner of talking, 

"Has Lord Father came too late in purpose? Did he wished for Feng'er's Tiny Courtyard to burn into ashes? Oh no, how could Feng'er live then?" 

Her tone of voice seemed clueless and innocent yet miserable, however she was multiply sneering in her mind. 

The onlookers looked very surprised. The normal youngest miss, Xiao Lian Feng, wouldn't even dare seek with that tone, yet she spoke so fluently and even hinted a few sarcastic remarks and hidden meanings. 

The so called Lord Father was turned red to the point of a red tomato due to embarrassment and a bit of anger. In truth, he did slack for a few moments after hearing the news of the youngest Miss's courtyard burning, but he didn't know Xiao Lian stilliaond've dared to speak so... Sharply. 

That's right, those weren't the actions of the Youngest Miss in the Xiao Manor. Her words were sharp as a knife, but her countenance was so unspeakably innocent. Totally incomparable to her sharp words. 

But yes, those weren't the normal actions of the Youngest Miss, Xiao Lian Feng, in fact, she wasn't the actual Xiao Lian Feng!!

Fortunately, the certain person was someone whose power to Contain the World, just for her.

Feeling that the atmosphere went silent, Davis opened his mouth, "I've heard it from your father that you were receiving the inheritance during the previous Grand Sea Continent Meet..."
Isabella put a hold to her thoughts and turned to look at him with an inquiring gaze.
Seeing that he had garnered her attention, he uttered a harmless lie, "Your father mentioned me to take care of you if you meet with any dangers in this world, but seeing that you are at a higher stage above mine, seems like there is no need to..." 
In truth, Davis didn't know that Emperor Mark Ruth had wanted him to really protect his daughter, but in the eyes and the words of the old man when he talked about his daughter, he could still see the affection the old man had for his daughter.
Isabella still looked at him with a not so convincing expression on her face.
Davis wryly smiled though he felt that it was understandable since she couldn't see or confirm the facts he placed on the table with her own eyes.
They didn't have contact that much before, so he understood that the words he said will just bring on more suspicion.
Understanding so, Davis said, "Worrying won't help you right now, heading back will... So are you returning with me or?"
"I'm in!" Isabella instantly replied, her face devoid of expression.
"I don't understand one thing..." She suddenly said.
Davis was taken aback, "What is it?"
"I don't understand your reason for returning to that barren place... Is it for that another Immortal Inheritance you mentioned?" 
Davis suddenly laughed and his lips curved into a grin, "Isn't it obvious? I'm returning to keep my promise with her, to marry my fiancee..."
Isabella's facial expression twitched as her eyes slightly widened.
"What, you got a problem with that?" Davis shot an assertive gaze at her.
Isabella suddenly closed her eyes, and a smile spread across her beautiful face as the hostile intent radiating around her had lessened to a great degree.
Opening her eyes, she said, "No..."
She then extended her hands towards the exit and said gracefully, "Please take your leave then... If Miss Fiancee comes to know about our meeting in the night, wouldn't it be bad?"
Davis froze with a stiff expression on his face. He could see her lips hanging with a playful smile.
Seeing that made him completely annoyed. No one other than his family and friends gets to tease him like that!
"You're absolutely right, Princess Isabella..." He stood up and walked towards the door.
Before he reached the door, he turned back and said with a petty poker face, "Before marrying her, I will definitely confess to her that I spent a night with Princess Isabella in front of her and everyone at the eve of the marriage. If she still agrees, then I will take her as my wife."  
"Then goodnight, Princess Isabella."
"You! Come back here!"
Davis directly left to one of the other rooms, not bothering to turn back.
Isabella stood up, gritting her teeth as she saw his back disappear from her view.
Davis entered an empty room with only a makeshift bed, a table and a few chairs.
He saw the bed and directly sat on top of it, cross-legged.
He looked at the closed door, waited for a few minutes and chuckled back to himself, 'She's not chasing back, hehe...'
When he heard her trembling voice, he was sure that he had got one back over her.
'Not once or twice, that woman thinks she can tease me whenever she wants, hmph!' Davis was entirely displeased.
'Who does she think she is?' 
That laid back personality he saw for the first time when he met her no longer existed but the tendency to tease was still present.
He shook his head and blinked, regaining his composure as he mocked himself for being childish, "Comparatively, I'm such a kid..."

Cultivating for a few minutes, Davis stabilized his cultivation to a small extent.
Figuratively speaking, he felt that his soul force had improved by leaps and bounds. It was mainly because of his perception, which was still at Elder Soul Stage and had not been used to Mature Soul Stage.
He didn't even get to fine-tune his perception with Isabella's interruption in that cave but now, exactly a few seconds later, he adjusted his perception to match his cultivation.
Davis opened his eyes and pondered for a moment.
He blinked and asked, "Fallen Heaven, that white light and those threads, I have a conjecture of what those are..."
"You do?! Let me hear it!" Fallen Heaven's voice echoed with a little bit of excitement.
"Alright..."
Davis arranged his words before speaking, "First, I realized that the dark-like energy that I am familiar with is not probably the real Darkness Law."
There was a tiny bit moment of silence before Fallen Heaven's voice resounded in his Soul Sea, "Is your head okay?"
"Just listen!" Davis shouted back and continued, "Second, think back to the words that Old Man Garvin uttered about the laws."
"Primary Laws consists of the most basic laws in this universe, while the Greater Laws exist at a higher level, they are even harder to comprehend."
"Yes, I also listened to him and I know a thing or two about Greater Laws myself." Fallen Death replied.
Davis didn't stop its bragging but just nodded, "While he said that Greater Laws are harder to comprehend, he also said that they were quite a hurdle to their study of laws, meaning, even the strongest powerhouse of this 52 territories does not know much about the Greater Laws."

She pulled back her train of thought that was indulging in flights of fancy (1). Su Luo's attention was, without exception, completely concentrated upon the egg.

This egg was no less than the size of a soccer ball. The outer shell was white and glossy with colored rays of light like the luster of gems shining through. Occasionally a stream of light would also streak across the top.

It gave off a dense and mysterious air.

Suddenly, rustling noises could be heard from inside the egg, as if the small creature within was trying to break out of its shell and enter the world.

Su Luo was immediately struck dumb.

She saw, from the fragmented pieces of eggshell on the topmost part of the egg, a tiny head covered with some shattered pieces of eggshells, slowly but surely make its way out. It naively, adorably and unsteadily, rotated its tiny head.

What kind of creature is this? Su Luo had never seen one like it before.

But this little thing looked too adorable.

A round puffy little head, simple and strong, that was absolutely adorable. Both of its eyes were closed tightly like a newborn, the corner of its mouth was dribbling out a lot of tiny little bubbles.

It seemed somewhat dejected because, apart from its head, the rest of its body was still in the eggshell.

She could only see its eyes were still closed. It had a rosy red moist little mouth which was very small, but its nibbling speed was very fast.

The little thing looked like it was nibbling on a large piece of round bread. It first nibbled away at the eggshell near its mouth, then slowly extended to the surrounding area.

It finally finished eating the entire eggshell, then used its nose to sniff around as if looking for something else.

Throughout the entire process, its eyes remain closed, giving it a charmingly innocent impression.

Su Luo's heart became curious. What is this little thing that just broke through its eggshell looking for?

In the midst of her curious musings, the little thing took some shaky steps with its thin, delicate legs; and swayed drunkenly about, tottered to the side of Su Luo's feet. Caspar chuckled. At first, he seemed hesitant to continue speaking, but when he saw Finland's curious gaze, he finally explained.
"In ancient times, men tied the women who belonged to them with a rope so that the women would not run away. It was a way to show ownership. As time passed, the practice was considered inhumane and the bind was made smaller; only the legs, then finally only the fingers. The act was then romanticized by the Greeks, who turned it into the symbol of love. They placed a ring on the ring finger because it was said that the ring finger had blood vessels connected directly to the heart... They also said that the circle was a symbol of endless love and blah blah blah... In reality, it was just a substitute symbol for rope ties in ancient times."
Caspar smiled awkwardly and shrugged when he saw Finland's shocked expression, "Sorry, but that's the true story. The ring used to be a symbol of ownership. Ah, so this ring was just a sign of his love, not a sign of a bond. The thought made her feel a little relieved. She remembered that Caspar always respected her wishes.
In the past, when Finland insisted that Caspar should not use his extraordinary access to find information about her, the man kept his promise. He did not even insist on going after Finland, who wanted to leave him, even though he loved the girl very much and suffered badly during the 3 years when they were not together.

"Uhm… how many children do you want to have?" Finland asked.
"Uhm... ten?" Caspar answered in a mischievous voice.
"Gosh! Caspar! Do you think I'm a child-producing machine?" Finland asked angrily.
"Uhm... okay... okay... how about three? I am of three siblings... It would be nice if our children can have brothers or sisters who are close-knitted and warm. I'm very close to Flora and Aldebar," Caspar said finally; his voice sounded serious. "In my opinion, my brother and sister are the best things in my life after our parents died."
"Uhm... okay. Three still makes sense," Finland nodded. "Now we already have two, which means – only one more to go."
It took ten seconds for Caspar to realize the meaning behind Finland's words.
He swerved his car to the side suddenly and pulled over. His body stiffened.
"Wha... what did you say?" He then looked at Finland, confused. "Oh my... Are you pregnant? Really??"
Finland nodded.
"I should have had my period a few days ago, but I didn't. I checked with two different test packs this morning and the results were both positive. I wanted to share the news with you when we are having a romantic dinner or something... hahaha..." Finland stroked Caspar's cheek while she laughed. She was so amused by the looks on his face. "But I can't stand it anymore because today you really fascinated me."
Caspar immediately got out of the car then opened the passenger door. He signaled Finland to come out.
"Uhm... why?" Finland asked in confusion as she got out of the car.
"Because I want to hug you properly..." Caspar immediately pulled the girl into his arms and whispered tenderly in her ear. "I love you... Thank you for coming back to my life. Thank you for giving me a new family..."
Finland was deeply moved, she buried her face in Caspar's chest and cried softly. She felt very touched. Her chest was filled with overflowing happiness. Now she felt that her life was truly complete, and she felt grateful. This was where she should be. This was her home. She belonged with this man and their children.
They did not care about the people passing by the road who stared at them enviously. The attention of the two humans was only focused on each other.
"This is a special moment. I want to take you to a special place..." whispered Caspar, "Tonight we don't have to go back to your apartment, right? I want us to spend the night at home in Palo Alto. You will like the place, the house is beautiful..."
Finland knew that she and Caspar had similar tastes about home. She was sure that she would like the house Caspar liked. But Palo Alto was so far from her office.
"But I have to work tomorrow..." Finland said doubtfully.
"Tomorrow you just rest with me at home. I'll spoil you. Tony will understand. You can come to the office the day after tomorrow," Caspar said calmly, but his tone was indisputable.
"Uhm... okay." Finland finally gave up.
Caspar kissed her warmly and finally let go of his arms.
"Let us go home."

I can't believe it! I died! I'm dead! 

Okay. I know that you're wondering why. Seriously talking, I'm wondering also.

After shouting and panicking upon seeing the lady giant, I threw tantrums. Yeah, that's hella annoying and not so awesome. I almost end up spending my night at the police station but then... Yes!

There is a but!

Well, that only means one thing.

Someone came. He's so short and wears baggy clothes. He stands between me and the giant, which is absolutely ridiculous. The giant stands almost 10 feet tall, and he, well, to be considerate, let's just say that he's a not so tall and obviously so short. He looked at me. Oh, sorry.

I wonder if he reads and hear my thought?

     
A big blow made me stumble on the ground... almost 50 meters away from them. They started fighting and all I can do is to stare and be mesmerized by the lighting they're throwing and blocking.

" ANGELIC POWER!"

A sign which I saw on the City of bones movie appear right infront of the face of the the-size-of-an-elf-man. The giant roared angrily. To stare on the mist, it seems like a tornado suddenly appeared and destructed everything stands on its way.

Many people scream and run and run and run. Oh crotch, constant running is  such an eyesore. But hey! This is a great opportunity! Free movie. Live. 

Where's my popcorn?

Anyway, when you start to look beyond the mist, you'll see what's really happening.

It is a fight between giant and my savior. They both have powers. They both have armoured suits. They both are...uh, pathetic?

"What the hell are you both doing?"

They are staring at each other. Oh my, don't tell me...don't tell me...

There is a very big explosion. Both of them stumbled and I have a wild guess that that may be their final blow.

I looked around me and shocks, too many wretched souls.

What is the meaning of this?

Wretched souls and their cries out of anguish.

"Am I dead?"

"Unfortunately, yes."

A hoarse voice said. I looked around to see where it came from and... I gulped.

It is very small. Have big round eyes. Too large pointed nose and a very grumpy face. Seems like that kind of expression is natural. In born, i mean.

"You're a-"

"An elf."

"I-I'm dead?"

"You're not just stupid, I see."

"What?"

"You're deaf- I mean dead. And to make the whole story short. You died because you're stupid, dumb and too slow. Seriously man, where did you're common sense go?"

"Hey that's below the belt and your not suppose to say rude and mean words!"

"And why?"

"It might not only cause emotional wounds, it'll also shortens the life of a person."

"So what? You're dead anyway."

Ouch.

We've been walking for almost an hour. And it's amazing to know that I can't feel anything. Is it a good thing?

"Hey ugly..." I whispered and I received a big blow on my head before I heard him grunt. Such a bully and short tempered man. Well, he's short. Literally and figuratively speaking.

"Where are we going?"

I asked him. I can only see few houses. Not much people and the atmosphere seems to drop to negative zero. It's cold. I hate cold places.

"Somewhere..."

Great. Where is that freaking somewhere? Is that even included in the abandoned maps?

"Where exactly that somewhere you're talking about?"

Suddenly, the wind blows and I almost stumbled my ass on the icy ground. W-what! Icy ground?

"Hey you elf, are we in Antarctic? This is awesome! Just an hour walking and we got here?"

I laid back and enjoyed the feeling. This is a dream come true! 

"Get up! We need to hurry! Someone's coming and he happened to be so territorial!"

I stared at his face for a second but looked away in an instance. He's so freaking ugly that I can't take it to just get a glance on him. Damn.

"No way! No one owns this place! I can't see any house and hey, let's relax for a while..."

I did relax.  But even before I can lie down again, I heard a very loud terrible noise. Where in the freaking underworld did that noise come from? 

A few seconds later, me and the ugly elf screamed our lungs out and ran for the sake of our second of our second life. Damn. If I had listen to whatever the elf was saying a while ago, we shouldn't be dealing with this shit. 

"Run faster! He's coming after us! Once he get hold of us we can't escape anymore! He'll burn us alive and eat us afterwards!"

"What? O my crotch, I don't wanna die again! I need to live! This is my second chance! Ruuuuuuuuuuunnnnnnn!"

A little help here, please?

"Run faster!"
The brainless elf screamed and I want to knock him down. 

"Shut up you brainless little shit! I may be dead but damn! Put it in your mind that I still have my emotions! I'm tired! I'm exhausted!"

"Roaaaaaaarrr"

The giant yelped and I looked back to see what made the ugly monster scream. 

"Stupid also brainless monster! Look at your steps! Look what you get yourself into! You got yourself hurt!"

I stopped running. I'm dead on my track and all I do is stare at the gigantic monster. 

"What are you doing, you punk? Run! Run not only for your life but also for the sake of me! Holy mother of firecrackers! You're making me lose my sanity! Run!"

Are all elves coward? I didn't obey the brainless ugly kiddo. I stared at him mockingly before proceeding on staring at the giant who's now crying out of pain.

His feet are now bleeding. Or is it even blood? Slimy green color. Gross.

"Are you hurt?"

He didn't answer. Instead he just looked at me as if I am the heartless jerk he ever met.

"Why did I ask anyway? You have wounds so I assume that it really hurts."

Meters away from me, I can perfectly hear the groans and grunts of the elf out of his frustration over me.

"Okey I'll help you..."

I said before I approach the crying monster. 

Note: I'm not a freaking babysitter. 

Hope this'll turn out well... or worse.

"These are for you." Zi Yuan pointed at the coffee table where the plastic bag sat. "You should eat. You haven't eaten in two days."
Li Yundong smiled. "Nah. I'm good. I think I'm just gonna keep reading."
"Hey! I took all the trouble to buy your food," Ruan Hongling snapped, "and you're not even gonna eat it?"
"Hongling..." Zi Yuan glared at Ruan Hongling, then looked back towards him. She sighed. "Looks like the Canon's true meaning eludes you." She shook her head. "You still don't understand what Cultivation truly entails."
Li Yundong frowned. "What's that supposed to mean?"
Okay, fine. He might have sounded a bit defensive, but come on! He'd just spent two days poring over the Canon!
"Fine. Tell me what is Cultivation? How do you Cultivate?" Zi Yuan paused for a moment, then smirked. "Sitting in a meditative posture and practice Qi control? Breathing?"
"Umm... You mean it's not?"
Zi Yuan kept smirking at him. 
"Wearing the crown of three flowers and the Convergence of five Qis!" Li Yundong gestured his hands wildly. "These processes enable the Cultivator to convert their Essence, Qi, and blood into Spirit? I thought that's what Cultivation is all about!"
Zi Yuan shook her head and reached for the plastic bag. "That's just a superficial understanding of Cultivation, I'm afraid." Zi Yuan began to pull out takeout boxes and containers from the plastic bag.
Li Yundong sighed. "Enlighten me, then."
Zi Yuan opened one of the takeout boxes.
Li Yundong took a peek. Stir-fried lotus. Yum.
"Generally speaking, Cultivation is the process of acquiring the skills and abilities to go against the natural order of the universe. However, to acquire such skills, you must first experience the workings of the natural order. You must first live it." Zi Yuan stared pointedly at Li Yundong. "In a sense, this is like resistance training. Why do people lift weights? They lift weights to develop the strength and ability to lift heavier weights." Zi Yuan looked away and began laying out the chopsticks. "Living in accordance to the natural order involves going with the flow. Doing something when it's the right time to do something. Eating when you're hungry. Sleeping when it's time to sleep."
Li Yundong sighed. "Right." He got up from the floor and took a seat on the couch. Minutes later, he was wolfing down the food with a speed that would make Su Chan proud.
Li Yundong looked up from his container when Zi Yuan tapped the table with her knuckles. "What?"
"You should slow down," Zi Yuan said. "Chew your food properly before you swallow. Otherwise, your stomach would have to expend more energy and blood to digest it. That extra energy could've been used for other activities."
Now that he thought about it, the Canon of the Yellow Thearch did have a section on that. Damn. Reading about it was one thing, but to put it into practice was another thing altogether.
The next twenty minutes went by rather awkwardly, mostly because Zi Yuan was watching him eat as though he was some kind of lab rat. For once, Ruan Hongling was sitting quietly in the corner instead of constantly getting on his case.
While clearing up the empty takeout boxes and wiping down the coffee table, Li Yundong suddenly remembered something. "Um... Can you guys give me a ride to the motel? I need to get some stuff."
"What stuff?" Zi Yuan asked.
"Oh. Well, some of my things—and Su Chan's—are still in the motel room. We stayed there when we were hiding from you two."
Zi Yuan thought for a moment, then nodded. "Sure. No problem. Taking a walk after a meal is good for you."
Li Yundong finished clearing the table and went inside his room. When he came out, he walked up to Zi Yuan. "Here. I'm returning this to you."
Zi Yuan smiled and took the damask from him. "Why the sudden change of heart?"
Li Yundong returned her smile. "You're basically teaching me for free. This is the least I can do." Li Yundong turned to Ruan Hongling. "There. I've returned the damask. Can we call a truce now?"
Implied meaning: You can stop annoying me now, thanks. 
Ruan Hongling grinned, then gave Li Yundong a casual wave.
After that, Li Yundong left the apartment on his own using the front door—like a normal person—whereas Zi Yuan and Ruan Hongling flew away from his balcony. Inside the elevator, he began reminiscing about his time with Su Chan: Su Chan liked to poke around the elevator panel; Su Chan liked to jump up and down whenever the elevator was moving; Su Chan would do this; Su Chan would do that.
By the time Li Yundong reached the ground floor, he was nearly in tears. He missed his little chipmunk. Dearly.
He hurried out of his apartment block and walked towards the gates of New Hongsheng District. Near the gates, he saw a small crowd gathered at the gazebo. All of a sudden, terrible thoughts began to creep into his mind, most of which had a recurring theme: did someone jump off the building again?
He soon realized, however, that the crowd was gathered there for less morbid reasons. Once he got close enough to the gazebo, he noticed everyone in the crowd staring at the stone table Zi Yuan had used—when did she even return it?—for the demo the day before yesterday.
"Good God! How did the palm print even get there?!"
"This table was gone for a day, and then reappeared with a perfect palm print on it. So weird..."
Li Yundong shook his head in amusement and moved away from the gazebo.
A dark sedan—Hongqi—was parked just outside the gates. The car's engine was already running, and through the windshield, Li Yundong saw Ruan Hongling sitting behind the wheel. Li Yundong climbed into the backseat and told Zi Yuan the name of the motel. Seconds later, they were off.
Half an hour later, Li Yundong returned to his apartment carrying Su Chan's Hello Kitty piggy bank and a bunch of other stuff. This time Zi Yuan and Ruan Hongling followed his example and actually used the front door—thank the Universe for small favors—to enter his apartment.
Li Yundong carried Su Chan's things into her room. Inside her room, he stopped to think of the best place to store her piggy bank. A moment later, he padded towards her wardrobe.
Su Chan's scent assaulted his nostril the moment he opened her wardrobe. He stood there, staring at the wardrobe's contents until he realized that he was acting like a lovesick puppy. He shook his head in disgust and stuffed the piggy bank onto the wardrobe's bottom shelf.
Something caught his eye. A piece of paper—folded in half—sat on top of Su Chan's clothes. He took the paper and realized that it was a page torn out from his notebook.
One side of the paper was filled with strange doodles: MacDonald's symbols; a cute fox; a funny drawing of him (with his hair looking like an onion).
Tears stung his eyes. He sniffed and flipped over the paper. 
Su Chan's beautiful cursive stared right back at him. 
It was a note. A long one. 
Yundong... If you're reading this, then it means you've somehow found out my true identity and have decided that you no longer want me in your life. I just want to say that, although short, the time I spent with you contains the happiest moments in my life. Thank you, Yundong, for all the happy memories you have given me. I will cherish them forever. Below is a list of instructions to pass the Zhuji phase...
Tears blotted the paper's surface. Li Yundong sniffed and dried his tears with the back of his hand. He shifted the paper in his hands and continued to read.
Su Chan had clearly written this letter a long time ago; the carefully-written instructions had all been told to him in person when he tried to pass the Zhuji phase the other night at the motel. She must have written the letter before he found out that she was a fox spirit.
There was another long paragraph after the list of instructions.

Li Yundong bit back a sob and folded the paper carefully. He shut the wardrobe and left Su Chan's room. He entered his own room, placed Su Chan's letter in his drawer, and then sat down on his bed.
The contents of Su Chan's letter had pretty much knocked the wind out of him, figuratively speaking. All these while, Su Chan had assumed that he would come to hate her after finding out who she truly was. All of a sudden, every single aspect of Su Chan's behavior, including her frequent displays of insecurity, made sense.
Li Yundong shook his head and stood up from the bed. He had to get stronger and survive the Heavenly Thunder. That was the only way he and Su Chan could build a future together.
When he left his room, he was surprise to see Zi Yuan and Ruan Hongling still inside his apartment. Zi Yuan was standing at the doorway. Ruan Hongling, on the other hand, was lounging on his couch, clearly making herself at home.
Li Yundong walked past the living room and headed towards the doorway. "Why are you standing at the door?" he asked. "Go sit in the living room or something."
Zi Yuan gave him a strange look. "I can't believe you left the Fox Zen School's treasure beside your door like some kind of trash bag." Zi Yuan pointed at the huge tessen leaning against the wall beside the shoe shelf.
He'd moved the tessen there yesterday so that it didn't draw attention when people looked into his apartment through the balcony. In hindsight, he should've moved it into his room.
Zi Yuan shook her head. "I wonder what the great fox elder Pan Shi would think when he saw his creation treated so carelessly."
Li Yundong picked up the tessen and shook it a few times. It felt rather clumsy and heavy. "I don't get it," he said. "What's so great about this fan? To me it's just a heavy and bulky fan."
There was a loud snort, which sounded totally unladylike. 
Li Yundong turned towards the couch and saw Ruan Hongling rolling her eyes. 
Zi Yuan just looked amused. 
Suddenly, Zi Yuan smirked and pointed at the tessen. "Why don't you try opening it?"
Li Yundong did as he was told. Well, tried to, because the fan wouldn't open. He stared at the tessen in surprise, then decided to try again. This time, he got his Qi involved.
It worked. The tessen slowly slid open.
Once it was fully opened, the tessen looked like a metal folding screen with golden Sanskrit characters printed all over its surface. The Sanskrit characters gleamed and glittered in a way that seemed unearthly.
The words looked beautiful, even though he didn't understand what they meant.
Li Yundong reached out with a hand and began to caress the tessen's shiny surface. As he did, his mind went to Su Chan once again.
"Behold, The Fan of Seven Treasures," Zi Yuan said.
"The Fan of Seven Treasures..." Li Yundong repeated after Zi Yuan.
Zi Yuan's next words nearly made him fall over.
"It is perhaps the most misogynistic magical weapon ever created."

He pressed twice on the terrain, applying basically no strength at all, and his foot released a shockwave that resounded throughout the cave.

His gaze was shining, he stared at the results of his refinement with excitement.
'I finally understand how I will create techniques with my inscription method.'
Noah had refined the "Breath" in his sea of consciousness fixing his mind on the image of a plane setting off.
He needed explosivity, he needed acceleration, the planes of his previous world were the only thing that matched those qualities.
'Imposing my will on the world of Heaven and Earth, this is my path.'
He had refined that "Breath" and he had used it to power the martial art, creating an effect that matched a rank 3 martial art.
Using that "Breath" for his techniques gave him a strange feeling, he wasn't using his dantian after all, he felt as if his body was breaking some kind of natural rule.
'My mind is a world of its own.'
Noah heard a humming sound as he had that realization, his mind was resonating with him.
'I can't produce "Breath" but I can give it a meaning. My techniques were never meant to follow the will of Heaven and Earth.'
A few lines of the diagram of a rank 0 spell couldn't be used to create a rank 3 martial art.
However, Noah had just done that.

He was making a plan for his future.

Heaven and Earth were impartial and fair.
Their "Breath" could be absorbed and used by all living beings.
Yet, that energy was simply a form of fuel, it couldn't be used to surpass certain limits.
Nevertheless, Noah was adept in the Elemental forging method.
That method required him to impose his will on the "Breath" to create wonders, his own meaning could shape that energy according to what he was going to do, vastly increasing its effectiveness.
That was exactly what he had done with his martial art.
'The only problem is that I have a limit on the number of times in which I can perform it, the "Breath" in my mind will eventually be expended.'
The sea of consciousness wasn't meant to store "Breath", its capabilities were limited in that field.
That meant that Noah could only use his martial art for a set number of times before the refined "Breath" was completely depleted.
'In the future, I need to create a cultivation technique that allows me to store stolen "Breath" in my dantian, I can't neglect this kind of usage.'
If his dantian became able to absorb and store the "Breath" stolen from Heaven and Earth, he would solve the issue of its limited quantity.

The black cloud over the sea in his mind was consumed quickly, it had only allowed ten usages of Noah's martial art.
'Only ten times, that's not bad. It is only in the third rank, my body alone can match this acceleration. Well, it seems that any new progress can wait for my mind to reach the third rank.'
The third Keiser rune came out of Noah's space-ring, he was set on speeding the arrival of his breakthrough.
