This is a fictional story within My Hero Academia following an original character named Futari Taikyu. There will be characters that are in the manga present in this story. This story takes place sometime after chapter 191 in the manga so beware of spoilers. I, also, took some liberties using my own headcanon for some characters backstories since, as of the time of writing this, some characters backstories have not been revealed. This is my first attempt at fan fiction. There's quite a bit of mystery surrounding my character but it will all be answered as you read. I hope you enjoy!

          A strange creature is floating in the colorless space. This creature has the appearance of an eyeball, but its similarity with an eyeball stops here. Most of the creature's metallic black surface is covered by glowing circuitry lines that merge into its neon blue iris, and the color of this creature's iris is the same as the color of those circuitry lines. This creature has a light yellow pupil in the center of its iris, which is blinking in a steady interval.
          At first glance, this creature seems like a nightmarish creature that comes out of a sci-fi movie, but this creature is actually the supreme being in [Fictional Realm]. This creature is called [Administrator] and its purpose is to manage the circulation of [resource] that keeps the [Fictional Realm] stable and existing indefinitely.
          [Fictional Realm] is the name of a metaphysical realm made from mankind's collective subconscious thoughts and their beliefs about fiction. It is both illusory and reality, existing as both matter and dream.
          As the manager of the [Fictional Realm], [Administrator] dwells in the centermost of this imaginary universe. Although it never left its dwelling, [Administrator] always knows what happens in [Fictional Realm] because it is omniscient. And with [Administrator]'s authority in this imaginary universe, [Administrator] is also omnipotent. Of course, [Administrator]'s power is limited to this imaginary universe alone.
          With that, [Administrator] is an existence akin to God. No... [Administrator] is the God of this imaginary universe. It is the absolute supreme being above all overpowered fictional characters that were ever being created by mankind's ideas. And despite [Administrator]'s power is absolute, it doesn't mean [Administrator] is without an equal, and truth be told, there exists a threat against its existence…
          The natural counter of [Fictional Realm] and [Administrator] — created by the jaded thought and realistic outlook of mankind who was disillusioned by their harsh reality, an existence called [Oblivion] is the natural counter of [Fictional Realm]. Although they were made from the collective subconscious of mankind, which means they share a similar origin, [Oblivion] has an advantage against [Fictional Realm] and [Administrator] because of its conceptual nature — [Oblivion] exists only to erase the [Fictional Realm], a nature that presented a gross disadvantage for [Administrator] and its imaginary universe that wants to preserve their existence.
          [Administrator] has tried countless attempts to fight off the advance of [Oblivion], and yet all [Administrator]'s attempts met with utter failure. [Administrator] has sent off the strongest characters — heroes, antiheroes, and villains — from each fictional world within [Fictional Realm], but those characters ended up as insignificant nuisances against the [Oblivion], which devoured them in the blink of an eye.
          Like throwing countless eggs on the boulder's hard surface, those eggs cannot harm the boulder. Maybe, the more apt metaphor is, like throwing pebbles into an ocean. And it was nothing but a waste of resources that could be used for better things.
          Although those characters were powerful, they lacked something that could affect the [Oblivion]. And that something is the [Will of Mankind] from [Reality].
          Coming to that conclusion, [Administrator] had an idea: "What if I summon someone from [Reality]?"
          Since [Fictional Realm] and [Oblivion] were made from humanity's collective subconscious, a person from [Reality] is surely the answer for [Administrator]'s dilemma. But summoning someone from [Reality] is something easier said than done! Although [Administrator] is peerless in the scope of [Fictional Realm], [Administrator] is only peerless in this imaginary universe and cannot summon a person from [Reality] through conventional means that often happened in Portal Fantasy stories. As an aside, [Administrator] intimately knows the concept of Hero Summoning from many worlds within this imaginary universe. After all, all fictional ideas that were thought out by mankind existed in this imaginary universe. And 'Portal Fantasy' is a well-known genre of fiction. There are countless worlds wherein that kind of phenomenon happened.
          Be that as it may, [Administrator] can still summon someone from [Reality], but not through the conventional means that normally happened in those 'Portal Fantasy'-based worlds. Because of the nature of [Fictional Realm], [Administrator] cannot summon this person's physical body. Only this person's ego can be summoned to [Fictional Realm].
          Furthermore, summoning the ego of a person from [Reality] is an arduous and costly endeavor. [Administrator] needs to sacrifice an exorbitant amount of the [resources] generated by mankind's subconscious thoughts and beliefs. And lately, this [resource] is very scarce and enough to maintain the continuity of the [Fictional Realm] while slowing down the progress of [Oblivion].
          It is clear that [Fictional Realm] is currently in a precarious situation.
          The reason behind this [resource] deficiency is, as time progressed in [Reality], mankind collectively become stagnant and lazy because of the convenience of the modern era. They have stopped producing substantial ideas and beliefs, lacking inspiration and imagination, which are important to generate enough [resource] to sustain the [Fictional Realm]. And so, [Administrator] experienced [resource] deficiency. Still, with the mechanical precision in management, [Administrator] was able to save up the extra [resource] for an emergency. It is unclear if its savings are enough to fuel the summoning. [Administrator] has never done this, after all. There is a chance it doesn't have enough energy.
          "Regardless, I shall do it!" The desperate [Administrator] decided.
          And so, [Administrator] consumed its saved [resource] and opened a connection to the collective subconscious of mankind. And just by doing that alone has taken almost the entirety of [Administrator]'s savings, but [Administrator] soon discovers its saved [resource] isn't enough to pull someone's ego from [Reality] to the [Fictional Realm].
          "Should the energy for keeping my realm stable be used for this?" [Administrator] asked and started weighing its decision.
          If [Administrator] uses up its stored energy that must be circulated in [Fictional Realm], countless worlds will cease to exist at once. And without those worlds to slow down [Oblivion], that conceptual calamity will quickly and easily get closer to [Administrator]'s location in the centermost of the [Fictional Realm]. However, if its plan succeeds, it can stop the advance of its archenemy indefinitely.
          It is a dangerous gamble. [Oblivion] will claim it if [Administrator] makes a mistake, but it can also prolong [Fictional Realm] existence if it succeeds!
          After finding its resolve, [Administrator] discovers another problem, it can't just take anyone from [Reality]! It can't summon someone charismatic that can sway the masses, which is the kind of person [Administrator] needs the most! A person with the power to move the masses has an important connection with the collective subconscious of mankind. Someone like that has overabundant resources to fight off the [Oblivion], as well as maintaining the expenditure of [Fictional Realm]. However, that kind of person is very important in the [Reality], and [Administrator] cannot take that kind of person away from [Reality]...
          Well, truth be told, [Administrator] can summon someone like that, but it will cease to exist because of converting its existence into the required [resource] to summon such a person. In the end, [Administrator] narrowed down the list of candidates it could summon without endangering its existence...
          Somehow, all the candidates it can summon are Otaku or Weeaboo that aren't significant in [Reality]. And truth be told, [Administrator] doesn't mind that kind of people because they suit its needs. Being mindful of its expendable [resource], [Administrator] selects the candidates with the cheapest [resource] to summon them.
          From here, the candidates are Otaku and Weeaboo who don't mind getting summoned to another world — people who are delusional and dreamer — they know that being summoned to another world is something that only happens in fiction but they still wish to get the opportunity to experience that. They are people without family or significant others to tie them down in [Reality]. And they consider their life is too difficult, and they yearn to have a superpower to make their life more easy and convenient. These kinds of people are surprisingly many. And so, [Administrator] summons one randomly.
          After pulling the ego of this person, [Administrator] discovers that its connection to the subconscious of mankind has been cut off. Perhaps, it is the instinct of mankind's subconscious to protect themselves. That aside, this happening presents a bigger problem for [Administrator]. Since [Fictional Realm] was cut off from the [Reality], it wouldn't receive the [resource] to maintain the existence of [Fictional Realm]. 
          [Administrator]'s regret is bottomless, but it can do nothing about it. At least, [Administrator] has someone from [Reality] that can become a constant resource generator for [Fictional Realm]. Well, [Administrator] only grasped a lifeline here. Nevertheless, [Administrator] achieved what it sought out even though [Fictional Realm] and [Administrator] is in a pinch now.
          Putting aside its regret and other irrelevant thoughts, [Administrator] begins experimenting with this person. After some time, [Administrator]'s experiments met mixed results. [Administrator] could turn this person into the generator of [resource] to replace its cut off supply from the collective subconscious of mankind. However, the resources it gained was very limited, even below the standard of a single person's worth of resource it could gain from the collective subconscious of mankind.
          However, it couldn't be helped since this person is only a mediocre person, and this person was under outside influence to stimulate his willpower. No matter, what is important is [Administrator] has realized it could cultivate this person to produce more [resource] for [Fictional Realm].
          Other than that, [Administrator] discovered that the 'something' it needs to fight off [Oblivion] can be produced by this person. However, [Administrator] cannot reproduce this 'something' because the production of this 'something' is according to this person's desire and willpower.
          Because of that, [Administrator] is helpless. It cannot just force this person to generate this... All right, let's call this 'something' as a 'vaccine' to fight off [Oblivion]. Although it has absolute omnipotence and omniscience, its power only affects this imaginary universe, and since this person came from [Reality], he is beyond [Administrator] capability to directly exploit him.
          "Was that Mankind's Free Will? Mankind is an amazing creature." Although [Administrator] cannot directly exploit this person's will, it is still feeling amazed by this human.
          After some moments, [Administrator] puts aside its amazement to this human and focuses on the more important thing, "The best method to cultivate this person's willpower is the reward and punishment method. It can also make him cooperative, I suppose. All right, I shall prepare the tool to help this person's cultivation. First, I shall prepare a system that will help cultivate his willpower and make him cooperative to my cause..."
          There are many fictional worlds within [Fictional Realm] with the protagonist — also called the World's Chosen One or Fate's Chew Toy  —  possessing a system. Using one of those systems as the template is an easy thing to do. After tailoring a system, it is the time to pick out a world to transmigrate the ego of this person, and [Administrator] picks out a world it thinks this person will like to be in. Then, it sends the ego of this person to inhabits its new body.
          Afterward, [Administrator] only needs to wait for this person's development...

Reincarnated in the world of anime, acquiring a system, having no responsibility other than thinning out the ever-present 'monsters', getting the opportunity to become powerful and travel to other fictional worlds, and can do anything you wish... even if you want to make all pretty woman yours, conquer or destroy worlds, and other crazy stuff...

Are those things worthy of being a slave in all but name for a higher being for eternity?

A measured breath escapes the mouth of a raven haired man. His eyes which were relaxed in focus opened, revealing a collected shade of red eyes. 

Val smiled subtly and brought the sword on his waist out from its scabbard and into the leg of the bear in front of him. 

The blade stabs itself deep into the bear's muscle, blood flew across Val's face but he smirked as he succeeded in making the bear's footing unstable.  

The bear growls and tries to take its fall straight into its pray but find him too fast to capture. Instead, the bear watched helplessly as Val jumped to the side. 

The bear suddenly loses it's sight of Val and the last thing it saw... was countless after images of a blade before it embraced the world of darkness; death.

The ordinary sword slides right back into it's scabbard with a metallic ting. A small smile forms on my face and relaxation floods my body. 

"I'm finally getting used to this" 

It's been a few days since I've found myself in this world. Although the beginning was rough, me being forced to adapt to life in the wilderness and all, I'd say I'm doing good so far. 

Hunting, cooking and just being aware of my surrounding has helped me make it out this far. 

The biggest thing that really helped though was the stats that's been gifted to me. It was surprising when I realized that my new stats and skills belonged to non other than Link, our favorite Hyrulian hero.

The reason I was able to kill the two shinobi from the other day as well as the wolves was thanks to Link's stats, the 'Natural swordsman' skill and his 'Flurry rush' which activated back when I was in a really bad spot.

I smiled lightly and brought up the record panel.

Anyway to explain, the record panel basically records all the activities that have affected me and the system. An example being Enemies being killed or defeated.

The CP at the end stands for Character Points. And I've earned about 60 points through my stay here. To explain the relevance of those points, I have to go back to when I first learned of the panels.

Next is equipment, and it's a bit special. I can already tell from the skill 'Flurry Rush' that my character right now is probably Link from BOTW. This is even more clear when looking at the Equipment panel.

I was pretty excited when I browsed through this panel. Rightfully so, since just about every equipment from BOTW is here.

It even included the runes in Extra. Sadly, the more overpowered stuff like stasis isn't here. Otherwise, killing enemies while they're frozen would be incredibly easy as long as I timed it right and dealt a well placed strike.

The next panel for the menu was nothing special. At least right now.

So this panel has about every character from any fictional world. At least from what I know. Naruto, Meliodas, Goku, Mob, heck there's even Saitama.

But as excited as I got browsing this panel, my emotions slowly went back down to reality. All those characters I've listed are on or above A-tier. And if you've looked through the prices, then it's pretty understandable to why my feeling went from 100 to 0 real quick.

Those Genins I killed were only worth 10 points for gods sake! Doing some quick math, that means in order to get the lowest A-tier characters [A-], I would have to defeat around... 10,000 more genins!

So yup, I'm just going back to browsing the E-tier list.

Val Kien wasn't someone particularly special. In an Era where celebrities, respectable scholars and entertainers are rising and falling, Val is someone that failed without even starting. Stuck in a new world with a fresh start, he strives to actually make a mark... even if it's through fakery.

Darth Vader is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. He is a primary antagonist in the original trilogy, but, as Anakin Skywalker, is the main protagonist of the prequel trilogy. Series creator George Lucas initially wrote the series' main villain as separate from Luke Starkiller's father Annikin [sic]. Hexie didn't finish her sentence when Uncle Huiliang put up his hand and did a thumbs up while smiling smugly. Kinda reminds her of that Bushy-brow sensei in that ninja-themed anime she once watched as a kid.

"Haha! Hexie-er! Your genius Uncle and his team finished the beta-version of the computer game you requested! And yes, you will be the voice actress for the in-game voice!" 

Uncle Huiliang's secretary, Ana Lim filled Hexie with what was happening. 

For the past months, Li Huiliang would work overtime to recruit members for his game developing team. He even hired a fantasy-novel writer for making fictional world and characters of the game, and even recruited their reclusive resident Video Game Artist to make sketches that match the background story for each character. It was the first time he seen their Artist to be this excited to draw. Then after gathering the team, they proceeded to make the design for the computer game software. After all the work, today was the day they make Wu Hexie part of the team.

"Okay. Now that Wu Hexie has been welcomed and have been oriented of what we have done for the past months, it is now time to check the status of the game. Hexie-er would you do the honor of being the first player of Dauntless Heroes Arena?" Uncle Huiliang stood up and gave Wu Hexie a bluetooth mouse and keyboard.

"Oh and do a commentary as you play through it Hexie-er. We would like to hear your opinion since this was your idea~"

Part of Hexie was guilty because she kind of borrowed the ideas from her previous life experiences.

"Yes Uncle!" Hexie sat at the front of the giant TV screen where she would play the trial game. She lay the mouse and keyboard on the desk in front of her.

The screen came to life and an animated mystical landscape was the background. There was a faint chivalrous music in the background too.

Then another landscape was seen in the background, it emit a dark and eery feeling as it was a battlefield with lots of skulls. 

"Hmm..for this part. I think it would be nice if there was an indication that this was a Loading page while the game is being set up." Hexie started her commentary. 

Behind her, the team was taking notes. Li Huiliang was very proud at his niece. He can't wait to boast it to his siblings. They still hold grudge against Wu Hexie because of her past actions against her uncles, aunties and cousins in the Li side of the family. But he knew that it was that white lotus sister-in-law of his as well as Li Meixiu.

After the loading page. Hexie was welcomed by a character with her jetblack hair having green tips and was holding a bow. It kind of looked like her in a way.

"Haha we modelled this character after you, my dear niece, as tribute for the amazing idea of yours!"

"Wow...I have no words. You even named it after me," Hexie was grateful. 

"Yes and because Athena is a Greek Goddess..."

"Oh that was clever. Having Athena the Goddess of Wisdom and War strategy as the first character to be played is a good idea. This part during tutorial, their should be an option for the players to double the speed of Athena's text in order to not waste time since many players would play the game in a computer shop. "

A couple of heads nodded.

After the tutorial. The screen had another loading page, it was another landscape of a galactic space.

Hexie was scrutinizing the characters presented to her. One was a long-range character with every status as equal. The other was a short-range warrior, having Power status a bit higher.

Of course, she chose Athena. She was used to using long-range heroes when she was playing games like this. She wasn't good at short-range heroes unless they were tanks.

After choosing Athena, the game once again loaded but with the picture of Athena versus the hero she is against with, which was the Ancient (Chinese) Army General and Sword Master, Jianjun.

When the loading reached 100%, the scene on the TV once again changed. The view panned from the enemy base towards Hexie's own turf. The there was a 5 seconds count down before Hexie could move her character.

"The character looks a bit pixilated. That needs an improvement. The movement is a bit laggy, but hopefully it would smooth out in the next trial but the background sound though. It is amazing and has a realistic feeling..."

'Dang! I feel like I'm a metube gamer giving a Let's Play review! But with many people in real life watching me!'

Hexie looked so serious while playing the game, everyone in the room were tense. But that was because she was trying hard not to look eager and shout curses like how she usually play. Or else her Ice Queen persona, whom she finally embraced, will be in jeopardy. 

The characters have no voices yet but there was clashing of metals sounds, snarls and growls of other background monsters as well as the intense battle background music.

"It really does feel empty without the voices of the characters...The characters does not necessarily have to speak to each other, but they should be uttering phrases fit for their personality..."

When Hexie's character, Athena, clashed with Jianjun, she first used a stun ability, then proceeded to fire rapid shots. The computer Jianjun's life was reduced to half. She then proceeded to use her ultimate skill and chased after the character until it died.

She actually got married to a character who was not part of the book but the person who made her family's business demise possible. She thought she was saved from her death route from avoiding the Main Characters, but fate had other plans.

* WHAT ARE OLD CONVENTIONS ?

Old Conventions are the beliefs which have already been set over the period of years in the minds of the 'Readers' and the 'Authors'.

Examples include, 

01.  The Hero and the Demon Lord – The Hero, either one or multiple, always arrive from a real, non-fictional world with no magic or any supernatural power, while the world that they arrive in contains some supernatural or fantasy elements. The plot may be different for different novels, but the convention remains that the Hero and/or Demon Lord are at the center of the world, i.e. the plot of the entire world revolves around these two existences. 

The convention here is that the Hero or the Demon Lord are pure fighters in a traditional sense. (Even the Hero in the light novel "Realist kingdom Hero Reform Chronicles" < I forgot its name> is an 'administrative' fighter in a sense).

02. Xianxia and Xuanhuan Cultivation novels, where the primary focus of the entire series is on the fights, and how the Protagonist acquires various skills, etc. These Protagonists have fixed jobs, like a cultivator/ fighter, alchemist, and blacksmith. Basically, these guys do highly technical jobs with ease.


* WHAT IS BREAKING OLD CONVENTION ?

Breaking old convention means to make your Protagonist walk through unconventional paths.

Examples include,

01. Various Japanese light novels and web novels with the Hero template. Japanese light novel authors have broken many conventions over the traditional Hero and Demon Lord convention, and now we have novels like 'Rise of the Shield Hero' with and Anti- Hero Protagonist, 'Realist Hero's Reform Chronicles', where the summoned Hero only has administrative cheats.

02. The masterpiece 'World of Cultivation' by Fang Xiang where we see a very non-conventional Protagonist and even more non-conventional fights- while almost every Xianxia novel describes only the growth of the Protagonist, World of Cultivation breaks convention by introducing fights among armies made of cultivators.


* HOW TO BREAK CONVENTION ?

It is very easy to create a plot which breaks conventions, which is to make your Protagonist do jobs one usually wouldn't expect.

For example, 
In a Hero setting, the Protagonist can create an Adventurer's guild so that he wouldn't have to fight against the Demon Lord. Or maybe he could become an arms dealer, and enjoy his life rolling in loads of money while watching the two factions fighting against each other.

In a Xianxia setting, the Protagonist can be a journalist controlling all media in the world, using all kinds of cultivation technology to create and spread news. Or maybe he can be a person whose business is to create AV (Adult Video a.k.a Porn).

Note that in majority of these novels, there are hardly any characters around whom the entire plot revolves.


* PROPOSED IDEA

Following is the Idea being proposed :

01. The world follows a Xianxia setting, with the usual gimmicks.

02. The cultivators are majorly of two types : 

     (01) Swordsmen (or those who use a weapon, to develop 'essence' of their weapon).
     (02) Body Cultivators (who cultivate their bodies to become strong and indestructible).
     (03) Spell and Formation Cultivators (traditional cultivators who use magical spells and use formations).
     (04) Alchemists and Medicine Masters
     (05) Blacksmiths and the like.

03. The social hierarchy is mentioned in their decreasing order i.e. the Swordsmen have the highest status in society because of their attack power while the Blacksmiths have the lowest status because they are easily replaceable.

04. The four have the following innate advantages :
 (01) Swordsmen – they have the strongest attack power.
 (02) Body Cultivators – they have the highest defense.
 (03) Spell Cultivators – they have variation in their moves, and can coordinate attacks and defenses of a group. They also have high movement abilities.
 (04) Alchemists study how to prepare various medicines, while Medicine Masters study the various diseases and healing techniques. The difference between them is that Alchemists concentrate on optimizing the process of medicine creation, while Medicine Masters are like the doctors of the world.
 (05) Blacksmiths, etc – These people create weapons, armors and low level gadgets. The gadgets can be mechanical parts of carriage, or radio device, cannon, ship, etc.

05. The Protagonist belongs to a clan of puppet makers, and have a business of creating puppets for various purposes. However, puppets are considered an unorthodox path and looked down upon.

06. The Protagonist enrolls in a school where students follow orthodox paths of swordsmen, body cultivation and spell cultivation.

07. The rest of the plot is to be extended by the respective Author.

08. The selling point of this idea is in one major point – "The Creation of Life !" The puppets in the earlier chapters can be displayed as mere weapons, and as tools to create humorous situations. Eventually they would slowly develop instinct and intelligence, and eventually become sentient.

09. The previous point is important because any good web novel always has three points : creation of something (techniques, skills, weapons, spells), management and strategy (founding and managing a clan, sect, business, kingdom, empire), and warfare (fights between the Protagonist and/or his faction and others).

10. The Protagonist will eventually rise to become the father/mother/progenitor/creator of the Puppet race, and the puppet path will become an orthodox path.

11. The plot has a lot of scope, because as this is a Xianxia novel and not a Sci-fi one, the Author get easily get away by spouting b*llshit to explain how the Protagonist was able to create robotic arms, drones, armed airships, and an army of Terminators. It is relatively easy to explain technical things in Xianxia world.

I'm actually a little doubtful there are people still here now... I mean, there's only two Original Works I even want to work on: Those being this and An Adventure Beyond Greatness! ...Though I feel kinda unmotivated when I'm writing by myself and there's no one to talk to. Life's empty these days...

There are times I'm motivated by 'Hey, there might be a comment the next time I post' and then I just wait for it, feel satisfied once I see it, then go write the next chapter because I feel some worth in spending my time writing a story for readers.

I've also tried working on a Gaiaverse RP Amino that has three works as it's foundation (Battlefield Restart, An Adventure Beyond Greatness, and An Identity Beyond Self, that are basically three different variants of Isekai) but don't have any experience in Role-Playing so I don't know how to write the Guidelines. I already made plans to write a fictional universe like the Gaiaverse but there's too little things I am able to do for it right now...

A lot of IRL stuff have been weighing down on my mind recently. I'm not sure if I should be following the trends online to grab readers or just do as I want... Ah, I'm jealous of those who do as they want and don't question it like the characters I create. And also feeling inferior to actual authors...

Anyway, I find myself a better critic rather than writing my own works thanks to my very nitpicking nature acting up whenever I see a good story that only needs some improvements. There are those who I've seen give 'feedback' on stories online but why do I feel they miss the point of being a critic?

I've went around A LOT of websites that have to do with writing and in the end, I found there was one big example of what I mean on closer than I thought Discord. There was a chapter that ticked all my boxes and made me interested as a reader on top of it about its plot but in the end of the day all I saw was a 'feedback' telling this good writer that they 'made a mistake by not explaining the core conflicts and character's personality in-depth'.

This critique really made my head turn as I couldn't understand how they missed the point of the chapter as well as how 'not giving information that isn't needed right now' adds an air of mystique.

I mean, there's a difference between 'narrating' for your audience and 'telling them the details'. The former layers a story with emotions while the latter only make them this 'yep, this is happening now'.

After all, investment doesn't come from knowing the overall situation but the characters who draw intrigue. Question like: 'What are this man's intentions?' And 'Does this person actually mean what they say?' Are what adds subtext that shows that the writer is trusting their reader connect the dots that aren't outright stated in the story.

Of course, there's a difference between holding back information because you yourself don't have the answers and doing it because you have a plan for later. Even Professional Authors like the J.R.R Martin name drop organisations and places before going in-depth once they become relevant later.

What my point is that as long as you have a plan for later, it isn't NECESSARY to give all the information at once. If you summarise the story in the first chapter alone, what will you have for later?

It's like how badly the Cautious Hero Anime could have become if it only repeated its main gimmick without any flare later on (though if your story is based off nothing more than a gimmick then you should keep it as a short story rather than lengthening it for no reason). Instead it actually had a lot more elements that was explored later on.

My reason for going on and on about this is because I feel that there are too many with their critics aiming towards what they want to see later because it's interesting rather than if the written draft is good right now.

I know this sounds similar to what I wrote that time I quite this story which was basically 'I got harassed by people not knowing how to criticise a story properly' but I feel like it's still relevant now.

This is a story I worked on ages ago that has been refined and edited by adding foreshadowing to events while also simplifying the power system better than before. This story can be considered a prequel to An Adventure Beyond Greatness as it takes place years prior to the events of that story.

Short Synopsis:
After retiring from the battlefield, my life became empty and lifeless. The regrets of my past haunt me in my sleep. Then a change occurred, a King from another world summoned me to fight for his kingdom, but I died even before I could give him my answer. Now, after a fake God allowed me to reincarnate (albeit imperfectly) with my memories intact, into a world filled with magic and swords.

Long Synopsis:
This is about a flawed protagonist who only knew to rely on others and not socialise who gets a second chance to change himself in order to live the life he aimed for in his past life. The narrator isn’t exactly trustworthy since it is purely in his bias perspective while other perspectives given by others fill in the blanks that he either leaves out or twists to suit the situation.

The story itself can be considered a parody of Isekai’s classic tropes which are given a sense of reality as time goes by. As there exists no ‘Demon Lord’, there is also no black and white, only characters opinions and counter-opinions throughout the story.

The fragrant smell of air-freshener wafted inside the room...making the three most special people inside the police station settle down comfortably inside an air-conditioned environment.

"What do you mean, Mel?" (Zack)

"You see, after accidentally killing the zombie that attacked me...a strange voice spoke to me in my head..no, rather than speaking, it announced something. It congratulated me for awakening a..system? Enhanced something system?" (Melissa)

Enhanced System? What on earth is that? There are other systems besides the HERO System?

"Did you notice anything different to your body? Like...becoming stronger? Or faster?" (Chai)

Melissa shook her head.

Zack was deep in his thought.

"Have you tried to...maybe, communicate with that 'System' in your head?" (Zack)

"I did. It didn't respond at all.." (Melissa)

"This might be similar to a gaming system like the video games we use to play. Try saying a few keywords along the lines of 'open' 'status' 'system' 'menu'. We'll write down the ones you've tried." (Zack)

"Okay. Here goes, I'll start with…"

Open Menu.

"...."

Nothing.

Status Menu.

"...."

Nothing.

System Menu!

"...."

Still...nothing.

They wrote down about 7 keywords, when the 8th finally opened the system.

A white, rectangular screen popped up in front of her. Success!

"GUYS I DID IT! IT POPPED UP!!" Melissa screamed with joy.

"What does it say? Spit it out!" (Chai)

"Okay, don't rush me! It says here..my name..my race..uh, there's a whole list of it. I'll write it down on a paper." 

Melissa took a black pen and an A4 paper and wrote down what she saw.

Chai and Zack looked at the paper. It's very similar to the a MMORPG game that they used to play.

"Can you upgrade anything? Like your stats points" (Zack)

Melissa tried to mentally add the points.

Nothing happened.

She tried to touch the screen, and she tried touching each of the words.

Nothing came up...until she physically used her finger to touch the word 'Strength'.

[Strength: Affects the "melee" physical power of the individual, allowing it to deal damage even if no weapons are equipped when a sufficient amount of Strength is invested. The Strength value is also multiplied to the Weapon Attack value for even more damage increase]

[ Do you want to upgrade Strength?]
[YES/NO]

She pressed YES.

[Insufficient Exp. 5 Exp more are required ]

She frowned. 

"Says here I need another five experience points to upgrade my Strength." (Melissa)

"Then you'd have to kill 5 more zombies." (Chai)

Melissa froze for a second. The near-death experience was ingrained in her memory, enough to cause her body to shiver again and again.

Zack and Chai were awkwardly silent.

PAP!

Chai smacked his forehead hard, startling Zack and Melissa.

"Ahh! Dammit I forgot I have a job interview tomorrow!"

Melissa and Zack looked at Chai with weird faces. Don't tell me this guy is still thinking about a job in an apocalyptic future?

"Pfft – !" 

"Ahahahahaha!!"

Melissa couldn't hold it anymore, and laughed out loud. Zack smiled warmly to Melissa, and showed Chai a thumbs up secretly.

"Time to test ours." (Zack)

Zack has revealed to Melissa that they received a similar system in their minds, too. She spontaneously screamed "Ahh!".

The look of someone just figuring out their friend's lame & confusing joke, was plastered all over her face. She then narrowed her eyes at the brothers.

SMACK!

Melissa slapped Chai on his back. That was why they wanted to dangerously killed the zombies earlier!

"Hey! Why me! He's guilty too, you know!!" (Chai)

"As*hole, don't drag me down with you!" (Zack)

The situation became relaxed again, after laughing and Melissa venting her anger to Chai.

"Bro, how much experience points you have now?" (Zack)

"As of now...59 points. Yours?" (Chai)

"57 points." (Zack)

"Not bad at all. Hey, did you get the notification to choose skills?" (Chai)

"Yeah. I tried saying the keywords we suggested for Mel's system in my mind, but nothing worked." (Zack)

"I guess...we either have to say it aloud, or find the right key words...System! Open selection menu!" (Chai)

"...."

No response.

"Hero system! Activate!!" (Chai)

"...."

"GATE!! OPENN!!!"

"I call upon the power of the Moon!!"

"System System no...OPEN!"

"JARVIS! Lay me down the menu!!"

Chai literally recalled every single fictional opening word he could think off.

Melissa was laughing on the floor and Zack was holding off his laughter while recording Chai's gestures on his smartphone.

"Pssh, like you could do any better." (Chai)

"Look, the keywords to re-activate the skill menu might be a unique phrase, exclusive to your powers." 

Zack then got into deep taught.

"What's the name of your skill again?" (Zack)

"Er...Kame School Martial Arts." (Chai)

No way. This bast*rd might actually get the OP-est character in the whole universe. But then again, there were also other minor characters in the Dragon Ball franchise with that skill.

Krillin, Yumcha, Grandpa Gohan. It can be any of those characters. 

(F*ck, if Chai's god-given character is Master Roshi, I am so gonna laugh my as* off in front of him, haha.)

Zack snickered.

"Okay. What's Goku's real name?" (Zack)

"Duh, Kakarott man. You know this to- WHOAAA!!" 

Chai screamed and startled over a white rectangular screen came up.

"It's the Status Menu! F*CK! F*CK! F*CK! OMG OMG OMG!!!" (Chai)

Melissa was dumbfounded at Chai's excitement. The current Chai was jumping around up and down like a monkey who just ate a plate of red hot chili peppers.

Zack's eyes were opened wide in shock! He originally wanted to start with the most overpowered character in that franchise, and laugh along the way when he failed to get the good ones.

Who knew this pretty-faced punk actually got Son Goku's powers!!

"You lucky dog!" Zack smacked his friend's shoulder.

Chai cooled down after awhile, he shrugged and lifted up both of his hand, signaling that he can't help it.

Who asked him to become so awesome? This grandfather here has some dogsh*t luck!

Following what Melissa did previously, he wrote down everything stated on his status menu. Zack understood immediately what most of the items in the menu meant.

Yet, he was trembling. Not from fear, but with excitement! His best friend has the limitless potential of Son Goku from the Dragon Ball series!

On top of that, he had yet to discover his!

"Fu*k yeah, I'm gonna be a Super Saiyan soon! Wahahaha!!" (Chai)

Just when Chai's hands moved upwards and going down with the motion to press a button, Zack quickly catch his brother's hand!

"Hey!! Why'd you stop me??!" (Chai)

"Bro, shouldn't you read the description of the skills first? I mean, it wasn't easy getting all those experience points." (Zack)

They literally risked their lives for it! If they level up the wrong skills at the wrong situation, they might be dead sooner than they expected!

Chai nodded and followed on to click on each wording on the HERO System.

"Okay it says here..Saiyan Physique Lv.1: Toughness, Resilience & Physical Structure increases. The other one is the second level of my current skill, Kame School Martial Arts. Says here...increase stamina and accuracy." (Chai)

(Seems that Chai's skill's description is quite...vague.) Zack spun his mind analyzing his best friend's system and Melissa's.

As both of them were dealt with choices, they began to analyze the extent of their current capabilities.

Chai's first level of [ Kame School Martial Arts ] gave him a minimum punching force of 3,000 newtons, proved by punching the concrete walls previously in the weapons shop.

Chai also admitted that his speed and agility became faster. He was confident that he can run 100 meters under 10 seconds. On top of that, he mentions that his reaction speed is quite fast, especially during fights.

There are very limited ways to test reaction speed, but the simplest one would be the online reaction test.

As the internet is still available, it makes it easier for humankind to spread the awareness of the zombie apocalypse.

Chai googled up 'reaction speed test' and the first page came out. He clicked on the top link and proceeded with the test. When the results came in, the brothers were horrified by Chai's results.

It says here in the online test, that the average human reaction speed is about 0.2 seconds. But Chai scored 0.01! Almost ten times faster than a human being! Monster!

It was now Zack's turn. His super senses include all 5 senses. He could now see 150 meters clearly, and could still read the small prints ahead. When he concentrates his eyes, he could see dust particles clearly in the air, signalling a microscopic ability.

He could hear sounds from around 30 meters away. Zack tested it by asking Chai to speak slowly, as close to whispering some keywords to see if he could hear them.

Turns out, he can still hear the softest whispers from a human in a range of 30-35 meters.

Zack's sense of smell is also more sensitive now. The smells are usually registered quickly into his brain, and he could smell something about 20 meters away. That is even farther than a dog's!

After several tests, they found out that Zack is quite sensitive to the ground movements and vibrations in the air, indicating that his sense of touch is enhanced.

As for the sense of taste, they guessed that after Zack ate a few different food items, he noticed that the food just tastes richer than before. He can distinguish different flavors of ingredients in anything he ate so far.

"So what do you think?" (Zack)

"Well, we don't have that many skills, and right now, we can only add in a new skill which costs practically all of our points. 50 points! I would need another 100 experience points to upgrade from the first level of [Kame School Martial Arts] to the second one.

I'm not sure how many levels [Kame School Martial Arts] has, but based on the Dragon Ball's timeline, he only learnt it during his childhood to his early teenage years." (Chai)

"Yeah, you could be right, if the second level progression requires an additional 100 points, the third level might be 200, or even 1,000 experience points! 

With your 59 points now, you could choose to start [Saiyan Physique], but you'd still have to kill 91 zombies more to upgrade [Kame School Martial Arts] to the second level." (Zack)

But the two best friends still had their doubts. The HERO System is still entirely new to them.

Melissa was utterly confused at first, but then she made a few references online about her new found system.

Melissa's intelligence stats was highest. She was speculated to the two youths that her real life capabilities might have correlations with her system stats.

For example, she is currently a full-time Post-Graduate student at the age of 21! Her peers, at most, were undergraduate students. Not to mention she was a straight As student in both her undergraduate and high school.

The trio then discussed further about the red sky phenomenon and what could have caused it.

"It feels like the world is in an eternal sunset." (Chai)

"Even sunsets don't last this long! The colours of sunrise and sunset result from a phenomenon known as scattering: molecules and small particles in the atmosphere change the direction of light rays, causing them to scatter, which affects the colour of light from the sky, depending on the wavelength of the light and the size of the particle." (Melissa)

"Yeah. It usually lasts about 2 minutes, 20 minutes Max. Something, or someone must be affecting the atmosphere's wavelength of light or particles sizes." (Zack)

There is too many unknowns so far. Who was the entity that announced humanity's end?

Could it be that the systems they received, were actually a self-defense mechanism to counter this phenomenon?

"Hey Zack, faster test out your system! You have [Super Senses] right? I think you could either be...Spider-Man, Black Panther, or uh...those Dragon Slayers from Fairy Tail!" (Chai)

"Relax..I have just the perfect first phrase word to test on."

The world is ending! 99.9% of the world population became zombies! But eh, why does it look like I have powers from my favorite character?

It was late at night, it was cold, very cold outside.
A young man sitting on a chair in his room in front of his computer looked through the closed window at the falling snow with half open eyes
"Another snowy day, fortunately for me, it is weekend, a cup of hot cocoa in hand and no work to do, which means I am free to do what I want, nothing beats these warm and relaxing moments"
The young man took a sip from the cup as he looked at the computer screen in front of him.
He was browsing some websites for reviews to decide which movie to watch, he got a few titles in mind but couldn't make a decision which to watch first, till his eyes landed on a certain comment
"Superman is the worst of the worst, a stupid jerk that thinks he is the best one out there, he is an idiot, an idiot I say, foolish, barbaric, brainless …"
The young man skipped the comment, he didn't feel like continuing to read that comment, thus skipped it to read another one
"Faster than a speeding bullet! More powerful than a locomotive! a stupid line fitting a stupid person, man of steel they call him, more like man of failure, an idiot by all means, a weak feeble little man that can't even get a date…"
The young man again skipped another comment as it seemed ridiculous to read it any further, thus skipped it to another
"A looser, he is nothing but a looser, all brawn and no brain, a stupid buffoon that is what superman is, a looser and nothing but a piece of garbage that shouldn't exist, a superfluous creature that…"
The young man was surprised reading the comments, the person who wrote them, seemed like they hated the superman character a lot, the comments sometimes ridiculous and sometimes childish but always offensive and they were getting worse and worse the more the young man read, and to make things more strange the person who wrote all those hate comments was one and probably the same person as they didn't stop there but wrote a lot more on other websites too, any website that allowed comments on DC movies, the same person would be there to write something, and every time they wrote a comment, it would be a hate comment, cursing and ridiculing the superman character, not the actor, neither the voice actor nor the movie but the character.
"What is wrong with this person? Why does he keep doing this? Why is no one saying anything to him?" the young man furrowed his brows as he read more than thirty hate comments and there were lots and lots more that he either skipped or didn't see them, all of them posted by the same person.
"Mr Mxy" the youth repeated the nickname of the person responsible of all the hate comments he read.
The young man wasn't a stranger to the Dc universe and lots of its characters, he was a fan to say the least.
"Choosing that for a nickname and writing things like that on all of those websites, is that guy alright in the head? I don't think he is just acting or joking, those comments are offensive no matter how I look at them"
The young man held his head as he pondered
"There are lots of people obsessed with comics and super hero movies, and when it came to DC, probably the most known characters are superman, batman, flash, wonder woman, cyborg and green lantern… fans would debate over them like, who is better than who? or what makes this super hero special than the others? And sometimes which actor portrayed the super hero's character better, etc…
Some like to dress up like their favorite characters in certain events like the anime conventions, some geeks however do take their 'enthusiasm' to the max and causing problems in lots of situations whether online or in real life, could this Mr Mxy be one of those geeks? if so why is he acting like superman killed his father or something, what is he going to such lengths to ruin a fictional character's image for? Perhaps, he is trying to make a point? But the comments are nothing but hatred with no apparent reason in them, is he sane?"
The young man was baffled by the comments of this Mr Mxy, he thought the guy might be joking or playing some sort of weird prank, after all, lots of people use the internet and some of those people are weirdos, but even so, shouldn't the moderators do something about those comments? And the stranger thing was, why no one said anything to this Mr Mxy? The young man was full of questions, in a sense, he was curious.
The young man cracked his knuckles, took another sip of his hot cocoa and started typing, he didn't like the fact that no one said anything to this Mr Mxy the most, he thought that he should tell him a piece of his mind otherwise he won't be able to choose any of the movies he wanted to see nor have a good night sleep later, because he would be thinking about why no one said anything to this Mr Mxy, the young man was somewhat a bit of a perfectionist or rather, psychologists might say that his personality is suffering a bit from an obsessive compulsive disorder.

Writing thoughts, the young man felt satisfied, now that he said what he had in mind, he can finally go back and decide what movie to watch.
[You like superman eh?]
"What?" the young man jumped from his seat at the sudden voice he heard
"Who is there?" the young man startled, he shouted as he looked around 
"Where are you hiding? Show yourself!" the young man didn't seem afraid 
[Bravo! Normally people would panic, but you want me to show myself? Haha, well alright then] the voice again said
Assuming what seemed like a defensive pose, the young man kept looking around, to tell the truth he was somehow thinking he might be delusional, after all he was tired a lot but wanted to take the chance to watch a movie or two since he might not find the chance some other day later, he thought that maybe he should be asleep right now or maybe he did fall asleep and he didn't realize it till now?
The young man was confused and lost in thought as he kept looking left and right in that closed room however his wait didn't last for long, in fact it was only a moment or few seconds as a figure suddenly started to take shape in front of him out of nowhere.
The young man opened his eyes wide as the figure quickly turned into a short man that was a little bit over one meter tall, one would mistake him for a child if it weren't for his face and attire, a purple suit and big shiny black shoes, a childish playful expression on his face as his big forehead was overshadowed by the a big purple top hat, that short man kept smiling as his big eyes were gazing at the young man.
"Greeting earthling of this dimension, you can call me Mister Mxyzptlk or Mr Mxy or any of the names you know me by as in those works of 'fiction' in this world, the ones you people call 'action comics', I am a fifth-dimension imp with powers beyond your wildest imaginations, but I assume no introductions are needed, right?" the short man said as he bowed like a gentleman.
The young man didn't respond as he was somewhat shocked by what he heard and seeing.
"So? You like superman eh? Let us play a game, shall we?" Mr Mxy said
"You dared to oppose me, a human with no powers like you dared to say that to me and for WHAT? FOR THAT PIECE OF TRASH CALLED SUPERMAN" Mr Mxy's tone suddenly turned serious, somewhat grim and scary as he slowly flew towards the young man that looked as if he was petrified
"Nevertheless, I like being fair, so I will give you chance to try and prove me wrong, not that I expect you to be able to do anything but… you like superman, right?" Mr Mxy made a scary expression at that moment as he pointed and with a light move, he hit the young man on his head, not giving him any chance to say a word nor wait for him to understand what just happened 
"Remember, no coming back unless you prove me wrong, bye~" Mr Mxy said so while waving his small hand as he looked at the young man who fell down losing his consciousness from that hit that looked light and harmless.
The young man slowly closed his eyes as he fainted, it was till some time later that he woke up, his vision hazy at first but soon better and much clearer than ever, no it was too much better that he couldn't understand what he was seeing and perceiving…
In a room that was neatly decorated with furniture that he definitely didn't see nor buy before, the young man jumped from his somewhat larger than usual bed, looking around, his eyes fell on his reflection in a tall standing mirror… moments later a surprised shout was heard from that room
"I AM SUPERMAN?!!!"

A young man while online browsing for a movie to watch, read somewhat upsetting comments, unable to leave without saying anything he commented his thoughts unaware of the consequences of such act...
“So? You like superman eh? Let us play a game, shall we?” 
Alas, because of a blunder, a normal young man of modern age finds himself in the world of DC comic as none other but Superman
