Sorry about the silent hiatus, had some real life issues. plus needed a break from writing; Good thing is that I took the opportunity to take some writing classes and improve my writing. When I got back I realized that I cannot continue this novel because the writing is too bad.  There isn't a good foundation and some plot decisions were wrong. 

So that brings me to two choices: Start another novel or Re-write this one. I hope you can tell me in the comments what you prefer. Actually, I already started planning another novel. Then I remembered the promise and thought it was best to finish this one first. 

The rewrite will have a lot of differences; I am not just going to copy and paste the old chapters. Some of you guys might not like the changes.

The new novel is actually a Science-Fiction novel. I am excited about it but realize that it will be difficult to write. There is no magic/superpowers so everything has to be explained. It will also be a kingdom building novel( that's my fav genre).

Tell me what you guys think.

Next day 

Nishant got up a little late as the classes did not start until 10am that day. He slowly got ready and came out for breakfast. Sheela was doing something in the kitchen when Nishant entered. 

"Amma, you did not wake me up today! You always bang on my door when I sleep till 8. But what happened today?" 

Sheela continued her work as though she did not hear Nishant. 

"Are you still angry?" Nishant asked her as he hugged her. "My darling amma, you can't stay angry with your only son you know!" 

Sheela struggled out of his hug and gave him a nasty look. 

"Don't try to play nice. You are an adult now and you don't need your mother anymore. Why don't you ask your Shradha to wake you up in the morning. " 

"Oh come on amma. Not again! Won't you give some nice food for your hungry son. I am late for college. " 

"There is upma on the dining table. Take and eat." Sheela ignored Nishant again. 

"Upma!!?? Why amma.. you know I hate upma." Nishant started complaining. 

"This is what you are getting. Eat if you want or feel free to go out for breakfast. After all you can take decisions on your own." Sheela did not leave any chance to use Nishant's own words against him. 

"You know you are acting like a child right now. Fine, I tried my best. You do whatever you want and I will also do the same."

Nishant ate breakfast with great difficulty and left for college, leaving irritated mother behind. 

In the Evening: 

Shradha was waiting for Nishant at their usual place in the campus. She had been thinking about their relationship since yesterday and she felt the need to speak to Nishant about her thoughts. He was at Lit club meeting and it was almost time for the meeting to get over. Soon Nishant walked towards Shradha with a big smile. 

"Have you been waiting for a long time? I thought you will take time to finish your work in the lab." 

"No. I came only few minutes back. How was the meeting? " 

"Oh ok. Meeting was good. They give me some more articles to write. The seniors were planning to host a short story writing competition and they wanted me to participate. They said next year I will be organizing most of these events and I wont get a chance to participate. So they told me to register for all the events this year. And also they told me that my writing has gotten so much better in just a few months. So they want me to try fiction writing. I think I need to start thinking about story ideas now." 

"Wow, that's great. You seem really happy." 

"I am really excited! I never thought I would be the writer type of guy, but here I am enjoying writing and thinking of inspirations and ideas!"

"Yea. I also never thought I would be one of those students who use lab after classes and work on personal projects! But here I am, thinking about learning more about coding !" 

"I know right! We both changed a lot! A lot of people believe that it's because of our friendship, including my mom."

Shradha was surprised to hear that. "Your mom?"

"Yea. But she thinks we are more than friends and your influence on me is quite strong. Hahaha I don't know what to tell her! She was even saying that she doesn't want you as daughter-in-law." Nishant started laughing thinking about his mother's words. He  explained what had happened at home yesterday. 

Shradha felt that this was the right time to bring up the topic that had been bothering her.

‘Agar Tum Saath Ho’ means ‘If you are with me’ in Hindi. These simple words could explain how shradha felt about Nishant. He was her sole source of energy; He was the only person who could sense her emotional distress and calm her down easily. He was her best friend, her guide, and also whoever she wanted him to be. To Nishant, Shradha was like a breath of fresh air. She always pushed him beyond his comfort level and helped him rediscover himself. She was his strength and also his weakness. 

Shradha was the girl who was considered as ‘bad influence’, while Nishant was the ‘good guy’, who was role model to many students and even parents. They had nothing in common except for the fact that both of them were lonely and maybe a little broken. 

Nishant and Shradha came together by coincidence. Their relationship started with simple friendship, which slowly grew into strong bond. He could show his silliness only in front of her while she could afford to show her real self only to him. Despite constant opposition from their family, Shradha and Nishant had continued to be ‘best friends’ and nothing else. 
They were each others ‘first’ in many things and even when the whole world could see how they were already in relationship, Nishant and Shradha could not see the obvious.
When they finally realized they have been in love the whole time, all it took was changing the status on social media.

If you didn't know, this fan fiction was made for the MLBB x Web Novel event and it, somehow, won 3rd place with my mediocre writing skills and with only 6 chapters uploaded. My school started while the contest was still ongoing thus I didn't have enough time to continue writing. My spare time was spent on my other hobbies. For these reasons, I only managed to produce 6 chapters. 

This was the first time I wrote a story, a fan fiction, a novel or whatever you'd like to call it. I was honestly surprised that it won. "Why would people like my story? This is the first time I wrote something like this, and people actually liked it?" I thought to myself. It sparked my interest for writing and I've been planning to continue working on this novel since then. But I never did because I got discouraged by my lack of 'writing skills' and writer's block, and the fact that this is just a fan fiction. 

But ultimately, after 6 whole months, I decided to take action. I wanted to write a novel, similar to the ones I've been reading for the past year. A part of me said, "But I have no writing experience. Even if you write, it won't be that good." A different part of me replied, "Well, maybe you could work on Master of Magic. You won't mind if it's bad, after all you said it's just a fan fic."

I've been working on this fan fiction for the past few weeks. Building the world, the characters, the plot, the magic system and all that stuff. Wth the upcoming Christmas break, I'll have enough time to write chapters for this fan fiction. The story will be different, and I'll start releasing them on 2020. And that's about it for the update, really. 

"Bu-but, why did you make this announcement? No one really cares."

Even if I wasn't writing, I've been using this application to read different novels and I constantly receive notifications about new collections (the count for people who saved this story in their library). And there are a lot of people who has this story saved in their collections. I'm a little bit skeptic and curious about it, so I just wanted to know if people actually saved this story in their collection. Maybe leave a comment to let me know? Heh.

Fortunately, Qiao Nan was the one who posed this question today. If it was someone else, it would be so embarrassing if she could not answer it.
It was only until this moment that Shi Qing finally understood. Although she was often the top scorer in the cohort, there was nothing great about it. Regardless of how strong one was, there would always be someone better than them. This saying was never a hoax.

Just as what Shi Qing said, it was not easy to buy the authentic Oxford Dictionary because it was comprehensive and thus extraordinarily thick. The English dictionary that the Zhu family bought for Qiao Nan previously was useful but not as comprehensive.
As an individual who would like to deepen the studies of English Language, of course, Qiao Nan needed the Oxford Dictionary.
It was just that the Zhu family bought all these for her previously. Qiao Nan would feel embarrassed to express what she needed. Anyway, those given by the Zhu family were usable too. When she started to earn money in the future, she could always find a way to buy it herself then.
"Thanks for the dictionary. I profited." Qiao Nan smilingly accepted the dictionary without hesitation. "After this dictionary comes to my house, you can forget about having it back. Now, the situations of Qiao Nan and Qiu Chenxi's classes were close to Qiao Nan's prediction. The number of students in Qiu Chenxi's class basically hovered at over twenty.
"Teacher Xiao Qiao, I'm quite interested in English. As such, I have a few questions that I would like to seek your advice on. I wonder if you are free at the moment." "Writing…" Such strive for progress was hard to come by. "If you wish to improve your writing, I'll give you three suggestions. First, if you can afford it, buy an English dictionary. The more comprehensive it is, the better. Memorize it every day. If you can memorize the English dictionary, your writing will definitely not be poor. There will even be great progress in your grammar. Second, buy some novels to read. The best is those with Chinese on one side and English translations on the other. Third, find some foreign films to watch. Remember, those English films with both English and Chinese subtitles. The third method will not only help in your writing but also your oral skills." 
"So complicated?" The soldier was dumbfounded. He was just trying his luck when he asked these questions.
Given Qiao Nan's age, coupled with the fact that she usually taught them English that was more practical for daily use and the common and simple English knowledge, the solider was not confident if he would really receive an answer after he posed this question. 
Unexpectedly, Qiao Nan not only replied to him but also gave him three suggestions.
Qiao Nan's teaching advice was professional but was not especially difficult to carry out.
"Thank you, Teacher Xiao Qiao. I will certainly do so. Then, Teacher Xiao Qiao, do you have any good recommendations?" The soldier asked another question.
To Qiao Nan, she felt that this question was difficult to answer. It would be making things difficult for the soldier. "As to what kind of good recommendations, that will depend on your needs and your current standard of English. As of now, it'd be better if you learn from the basics. Buy an ordinary dictionary will do. The dictionaries that are sold in our country are generally suitable for you. As for the second method, I'm not too sure what kinds of books are published nowadays. To avoid the situation of losing interest in reading, it's best that you choose short or medium-length bilingual novels to buy. Please don't buy long novels. As for the third method, you must pick the films with a genre that you like. For example, shootout or science fiction. It's best not to try the topics that you're not interested in." 
Qiao Nan could only recommend things that would only be available a few years or even a few decades later. If she stated those titles now, she would expose her secret.
"Thank you, Teacher Xiao Qiao. I know what to do now!" The soldier's eyes lit up. Qiao Nan gave a very specific answer. After having some directions, of course, the soldier would know how to improve his English if he was eager to do so.
"Don't mention it. Right, I nearly forgot. Maybe you can go and find these items." Qiao Nan tore out a piece of paper and then wrote some English teaching materials. Those were English language teaching materials used for the nine years of compulsory education. "You can read these few volumes of textbooks. The first volume teaches you the basic stuff. If you can afford it, you can also buy a tape recorder. This is because these teaching materials will normally come with a set of listening tapes. You will yield twice the results by doing half the work if you learn and listen at the same time."
"But it'll be hard to find these textbooks." The soldier did not feel ashamed about reading the textbooks studied by children, but he felt that it was too difficult to find these books. He was not someone who was schooling.
"They are very easy to find. Now is the best time to do so. Actually, at the end of every semester, many parents will think that the textbooks are not useful anymore as their children have completed their studies, particularly those whose children have graduated. These parents will sell away all the textbooks. You can look for secondhand stores. There are many books and things there. They are also very cheap. You don't need to spend much. I have read all your comments throughout the story so far, sorry if I can't answer and Like all of them, but I still read them. Recently I have noticed that some of you are arguing between each other on the matter of Soren's relations and how big the Harem will get. Firstly, I will say that Soren will not be getting more than 4 members in his Harem, so if you all want to fill up the remaining spot in Dragon Ball, as I have already decided to add Vados to the Harem, then be my guest. A: Who knows, but for now, I will finish off this Fan Fiction, then I will start an original Novel so I can make some money if it becomes famous, but for future Fan Fictions maybe you guys can give some ideas, and if I don't know the Anime/Manga/Novel then I will Read/Watch it before writing a new Fan Fiction.

Hi! For my QI readers, I realised that you didn't get to read how I started writing Spirit Immortal. So below is a short description of myself!


Background about myself and inspirations for writing Spirit Immortal
Currently, I am a university undergraduate, and I have been reading fiction for years. I first got into reading fiction because of anime. Initially, I was a pure anime/manga fan. But I then found out about the existence of light novels. Light novels were far ahead from the existing anime, so I started to binge read translated volumes on Baka-Tsuki. It became somewhat of a drug to me. I kept reading and eventually, fictions had become part of my daily life. However, everything changed when the Yen Press attacked… Suddenly, many of my favourite novels disappeared, and less and less light novel translations surfaced. 

Finding myself in a severe deficit of fictions to read, I found something called Novelupdates. Every few minutes, there was a new novel chapter being released. I was overjoyed. Finally, I was able to satisfy my daily fiction needs. That was how I got into wuxia/xianxia novels. Being ethnically Chinese and fluent in both English and Chinese, there was a great allure for me in these stories. When I was younger, I would frequently watch The Legend of the Condor Heroes and many what we call "wuxia xiaoshuo." So seeing that the traditional stories blend with modern themes was somewhat shocking to me. To think that such a part of the internet existed!

So I started reading a lot of wuxia/xianxia stories. I remember the early days of Coiling Dragon and Stellar Transformations. The friendly competition between Gravitytales and Wuxiaworld. But one day, I encountered Doulou Dalu. For those who have not noticed, Spirit Immortal's cultivation system is inspired by this very novel. The reason being, it was the only cultivation system that I could actually follow. It's a very simplistic system, rank 1-100. The other Wuxia novels cultivation systems confused the heck out of me. However, worry not, Spirit Immortal is not a fanfiction of Doulou Dalu. In fact, other than the cultivation levels, they are nothing alike.

For a while, Doulou Dalu was my favourite novel. To a certain extent, it still is my favourite translated wuxia/xianxia novel. But I started feeling bored. Every single book that I read followed the same format. And after many disappointing stories, I thought to myself… Hey, I could just write something I like!

Thus, the idea of Spirit Immortal started germinating in my mind. It took me over five months to finish plotting the major arcs, characters and finally the ending before I started typing my first word. Majority of the reason why it took so long for me to start writing this story is because of my procrastination and school. Additionally, I didn't know if the story was going to be well received. But eventually, I steeled my mind and said: "Whatever, as long as I am satisfied with the story, who cares?"

So yeah, currently the number one fan of Spirit Immortal is myself, and I can't wait to put the entire story I have in my head into words for all of you to read. It will take time though, so do stick around!


Issues I have had when writing Book Two
I have realised that many of you were unsatisfied with the pace of the story, saying that it is too slow and whatnot. And guess what, I agree! I have been putting the character and world development at the forefront of my story thus slowing down the story progression, However, fret not, now that the first two books are completed, the story progression would begin to expedite as I believe that I have sufficiently developed my characters!

I'm trying to be more descriptive in my writing but that is still a work in progress. Perhaps it would be the greatest hurdle for me but rest assured, I will try my best!

Another major issue I had was time management. I started writing Spirit Immortal during my semester break where I had plenty of time. I even managed to complete Book 1 during that break itself! However, once school started, I had to figure out a way to balance work, personal life and writing Spirit Immortal. There were some days where I only had three hours to efficiently write, proofread and edit my chapter before I deemed it ready to be published. Hence, there might be times where my writing quality dropped slightly but I'm trying my best to ensure that I retain and even improve on my writing quality, so please be patient with me on that one.


Future of Spirit Immortal
Once my semester break hits once more, I will be sitting myself down in order to write as many chapters as I can. Perhaps, eventually, I will take the road of creating a ******* account to allow you guys to read advance chapters and at the same time, give myself some funding to weather through the school days. 

So yeah, I can't thank you guys enough for continuing to stick with me as I continue to write Spirit Immortal. I hope that I will be able to deliver the satisfying fiction that I have conjured up and brought you as much enjoyment as I had in writing this story!

To make up for their loss, the upper echelons decided to adopt young orphans and nurture them to become a future pillar of the weakened clan. Shin was one of those orphans. 

Although picked up by the Frie Clan, not all is smooth sailing for Shin and the other orphans...

This is less an Analysis about myself and more about Authors as a whole. I only use myself as reference for the experiences a person can go through while attaining what some people call 'An Artistic Vision'.

But what is an artistic vision? I have gone through many stages as a writer, and the first step I took understanding why I love fiction was what made me less invested in a story filled with great themes but more entertained when events unfolding were simple.

My first work was a mess of a story that, when I look back to, didn't make any coherent sense except within the boundaries of my own mind. This is what taught me that writing with the thought of having another reading and giving feedback on my work was essentially a form of entertaining someone else with fiction.

So as a writer, was I supposed to be an entertainer catering to the masses? This opinion was cut down when I started to write a story that had every right to be able to catch people's eyes with how 'fresh and entertaining' it was, but suddenly found MYSELF not being invested by my story.

It was a strange paradox where what I was passionate about writing wasn't entertaining while the things that were more appealing and mainstream made what I thought to be a hobby more like self-imposed homework… and what everyone here can understand is that doing work is something a regular person would avoid if they were able to.

"I get no pay for becoming an 'entertainer', so why should I?" These were my thoughts as I continued to be on the line between writing for my audience and writing for my own amusement. Eventually, I came to a conclusion. 

"Why do I even write at all? Instead of writing something that definitely won't be a masterpiece, why don't I just read the well-known works of famous authors for my own amusement?" This thought became a unconscious thought, a worm burrowing into my mind without even realising it. I didn't even notice that I had already lost my qualification as an Author.

To write for oneself is to write a diary no one else would ever read. Although many unique ideas can come from writing this way, it ultimately lacks the understanding of readers that an Author shouldn't lack. 

To write for another is also not the right path to becoming one, as being too influenced by the opinions of others can make one fickle. A scene in your story you were proud of today could be something you want to delete tomorrow because it doesn't reach the perfection you are aiming for. If someone criticises some part of your work, then such thoughts will lead to an endless repetition of deleting and redoing pages.

The only way to overcome this paradoxical thought process is by having an artistic vision, and though I may be explaining it like it's an easy thing to achieve or something I fully grasp… In actuality, I don't…

The first artistic vision as a Author was to seek perfection in my storytelling, but the more I learnt about fiction, the more I learned of the purposeful imperfections in works that made them more memorable. To put it simply, even if an painter wants to add every colour of the world to a painting, it will only become jumbled mess if there isn't purpose behind what is being written into a story.

As an 'artist', I realised that I couldn't draw without inspiration to guide me. For I couldn't trust myself that the ideas I came up with by myself would even appeal to a wider audience. I experimented, and found that small touches made a story more worthwhile for my readers.

There was I time I wrote a story about reincartion and yet purposely left out key details about the character's past life like their name or age, even going so far as only including the parts the character was specifically affected by… The results were that a lot more people became invested in the main character's current life because there weren't two names distracting them for who the character currently was. 

They only knew the name of the character after reincarnation, and were therefore more closer to that character than any of the more 'perfected' characters I made before with literally their entire backstory spelled out for the reader.

It was then I remembered something that had truly become forgotten in my brain in the time I had been analysing tropes and what made story's appealing, I had forgotten that fiction wasn't 'art', but storytelling.

Subtext is created when the reader wants to know more about the characters themselves and looks for clues to figure out things that aren't explicitly 'told' to them. When a character is first introduced and they stutter in their interactions, it makes the reader unconsciously think that they aren't used to talking or are scared of something. When writing videos talk about 'show and not tell', it was THIS that they were referring to.

However, a story is essentially the Author 'telling' a reader a story through narration anyway, so how could I leave out information about a character's backstory in their introduction. The answer I found is that no real-life person is 'introduced' this way, most people I meet in real-life are those I can say I 'know' but only when talking about what I have found out about them at present.

It is through interacting that people know more about each other, but how can fictional characters inside my head form meaningful conversations when the entire point of them are to relay exposition that the narrator hasn't yet spoke of. It was hard to get past this problem as an artist, but as a storyteller, I found that the solution to this was changing who 'I' was interacting with.

I wasn't interacting with my characters, nor was I interacting with the fictional world I made. The true person I was interacting with was the individual I was narrating to… The person, who isn't me, that would read the text I was writing down to form a story.

Since I realised I was interacting with my readers through my narrations, I decided to switch things up and make them more lively. Instead of writing a summary of the events unfolding, I changed those events to fit the short attention span of new readers who wanted explosions every second, but as I followed along this path I realised that the 'narrations' I have became less genuine over time as story beats started feeling out of place and my own desire to write waned.

To become a storyteller isn't an easy thing, as I was still bound by the opinions of my audience. I became a comedian that tried to make my readers laugh, but found that my own laughter had died out in the process.

What was I supposed to do when becoming a storyteller was so much similar to becoming an entertainer? My answer was to go back to my roots and find out: What was I before an 'artist'?

I thought long and hard about it, then in a stroke of epiphany I had came to a conclusion: Was I not a kind of 'musician' that sought my own entertainment rather than the acceptance of others? Wasn't story's something I wrote purely for my own enjoyment?

And now, my artistic vision had matured. Rather than trying to 'entertain' an audience, I wanted the future me who had forgotten about my story to look back and enjoy it just as I have enjoyed the works of others.

Whether it be sci-fi, mystery, fantasy, or comedy… I want to look back on the story I told and see something that can make me feel emotions I had forgotten in the years that went by. If it's a Greek Tragedy, then I want to feel the helpless in knowing the flawed perspectives of the world that could caused the tragedy to happen.

Similar things could be said for mystery or fantasy. If I had a purpose when writing a story, then I don't want a glossary which either outright tells me about the world I built. Instead, I want to be entertained, moved, and more intrigued by the story anyone else!

After all, once I've finished writing the story, I am no longer the 'musician' or storyteller. I am the reader!

But even with this realisation, there was a chance I'd relapse if I didn't keep my previous lessons I learned in mind. If I was to chase 'perfection' again and think too hard about whether I'm talented or not, there wouldn't be any stories written to prove that I can overcome those who are only a tiny bit more talented than me but put in less effort.

If I sought too much for recognition and inspiration from outside sources, then I'd might as well send my work to a publisher rather than keeping my work a hobby.

And if I truly wanted to write a story that isn't going to be dropped, then I must plan a consistent story in mind that has a beginning and end. I could only choose to write for my future self rather than the readers that might or may not be interested in my work.

This is a story I worked on ages ago that has been refined and edited by adding foreshadowing to events while also simplifying the power system better than before. This story can be considered a prequel to An Adventure Beyond Greatness as it takes place years prior to the events of that story.

Short Synopsis:
After retiring from the battlefield, my life became empty and lifeless. The regrets of my past haunt me in my sleep. Then a change occurred, a King from another world summoned me to fight for his kingdom, but I died even before I could give him my answer. Now, after a fake God allowed me to reincarnate (albeit imperfectly) with my memories intact, into a world filled with magic and swords.

Long Synopsis:
This is about a flawed protagonist who only knew to rely on others and not socialise who gets a second chance to change himself in order to live the life he aimed for in his past life. The narrator isn’t exactly trustworthy since it is purely in his bias perspective while other perspectives given by others fill in the blanks that he either leaves out or twists to suit the situation.

The story itself can be considered a parody of Isekai’s classic tropes which are given a sense of reality as time goes by. As there exists no ‘Demon Lord’, there is also no black and white, only characters opinions and counter-opinions throughout the story.

I've always wanted to do something like this, the afterwords of a fanfiction/fiction I wrote.

An Immortal's Tales of Demons and Gods is a perfect example of what I don't want to do while writing.

It's nowhere perfect, but neither is it the worst. Why did I say that above?

From ch.50 something to ch.120 something, there is basically no relation to the original story. I deviated badly. I never focused on the actual characters like Li Piao(Lu Piao? I later found out I messed up his name for like 100 ch T-T) or Du Ze.

Heck, even Ye Ziyun was basically never MENTIONED.

For me, the journey I went through the months of writing this novel was extraordinary. October,November,December.

I peaked somewhere around October/November where I was so excited to write.

 I remember many occasions were I was weirded by my readers. Some complained about a vase, some about 'harem'. I can safely say I got rid of the latter discussions by ch.150...

Yes, the ending is extremely rushed.

I missed many details by simply shrugging everything, ignoring all the background I wrote. NEVER did the Abyssal Void Lord make an appearance.

If I were to be serious, I could've easily pushed the novel to ch.300, including the revelation of the Abyssal Void Lord, an epic battle with the Sage Emperor, experts from the Divine Realm, ascending there, battling... Exploring...

Yet I didn't do any of this.

Why?

You might all have looked forward, but I didn't. I get nothing from writing, writing while having a writer's block is not my ideal condition.

Especially when I earn nothing.

To be fair I find a rushed ending after 250k words much better than simply dropping it halfway or just ch.5 and disappearing from the world.

Thanks for all the support through these 3 months, I definitely did appreciate all of this. Hopefully you will be able to carry this support to my future works.
