     The sound of a skirmish wouldn't have usually drawn his attention, not when he hunted other prey. However, Thaddeus noted that at least one of his targets coincided with the noise. He hurried to intercept.

     Not being the altruistic kind, Thaddeus could have easily grabbed the girl and ignored the others but for a few facts. One, he didn't recognize the vampire. And two, something about the wolf niggled at his mind or, more accurately, niggled the hazy memories he'd acquired from Roderick's ashes.
     Bloody hell. He'd have to play the part of rescuer. How annoying-and bad for his reputation if it got out. Thankfully, no one was around to witness.
     It took only a quick twist to snap the young vamp's neck. He watched with callous disregard as the corpse fell to the ground but couldn't help a smirk as the naked dog also hit the ground face first, nor could he help his sarcastic remark.
     A baleful blue eye in a freckled face turned his way. The dog spat out a mouthful of dirt before replying to his taunt. "Cats scratch."
     "So do sexy women," Thaddeus replied, "especially if you make them purr." Speaking of womenÉHe turned on a heel and regarded the lovely Latina as she blinked the effect of the incapacitated vampire away. Her bleary mental state answered one question.      "Leave her alone," growled the redhead, who Thaddeus now regretted saving. How dare the canine interfere in his business!
     Turning to direct the full impact of his stare on the presumptuous mutt, he met the rage-filled glare with his red-tinged one. "Behave, dog, before I have you neutered. What I do with this female is of no concern to you."
     "I will not fucking behave. She's been through enough without another one of you bloodsuckers picking up where Roderick left off."
     "She won't come to any harm with me. On the contrary, I intend to bring her much pleasure." Bathe her, perfume her, and splay her on a bed of fine silk for feasting. Hunger of two kinds stirred within him. Thaddeus couldn't wait to exit this filthy forest with his treasure and escape the fast approaching dawn.
     "I'll kill you first," threatened the wolf, fists clenched at his side, his body poised for a fight.
     Thaddeus resisted the urge to roll his eyes. It was undignified at his age. "You are trying my patience. Don't make me spell you. Just keep your mouth shut and you'll come to no harm. I have no quarrel with you. I seek only to corral those Roderick has touched."
     "We have no interest in being corralled. We're not bloody cattle."
     Ah, so the pup was one of Roderick's minions. Odd how he didn't feel him like he felt the girl. "You might not be on the menu for dinner, but you are annoying. Don't say I didn't warn you. I think it's time someone muzzled you." Hold your tongue. Thaddeus held the red-haired wolf's stare and imbued his order with power. He pushed his will at the dog. The dog didn't shut his mouth. Didn't obey. Hell, he didn't even blink.
     "Muzzle me? I'd like to see you try."
     Thaddeus frowned. Why didn't it work? He tried again. "I said to shut your annoying mouth." Again, he threw his power of persuasion at the wolf. Threw it and got nowhere. Damned wolf. Apparently this wolf hadn't fallen under Roderick's influence like the girl, which meant he had no use for him. He'd have to get rid of him the hard way, but it seemed a shame to kill him for acting chivalrous. Perhaps I'll just take the girl and leave. I can move faster than him.
     But of course, the girl couldn't just let him sling her over a shoulder without making a fuss.
     "Put me down," she shrieked, pounding at his back.
     "Put her down," the mutt said, also hitting him.
     Thaddeus got annoyed. "Enough!" he yelled. His voice boomed and echoed, the strength in that one word command almost visible.
     To his shock it had an effect. The female stopped her fighting and even the wolf halted his fist mid-strike, his jaw open wide in disbelief. It lasted only a moment, but apparently the fact he could do it meant something.
     The redhead backed up and whispered, "How did you do that?"
     "It's called speech. You know, words that convey meaning."
     The dog shook his head. "Not that. The alpha command. The way you just spoke right now. It's a wolf thing, but you're not a wolf. The only other people I ever saw do that was my old pack leader and Roderick."
     Of course. Roderick. Yet another Lycan advantage. The danger posed by those ashes grew by leaps and bounds. Questions mounted. Just what else were Lycans capable of? What other surprises might be in store? Thaddeus didn't know, but he needed answers. Lucky for him, he had two possible sources in front of him.
     Given he needed them alive, and they wouldn't cooperate, he'd have to-ugh-negotiate. "If I promise to leave the girl alone, will you come with me and answer some questions?"
     "As if your promise means anything."
     "Are you calling my word into doubt?" How astonishing. The wolf already knew him so well, and on such a short acquaintance.
     "I've dealt with a vampire before. I know you're lying, sadistic bastards."
     Finally, an intelligent mutt. "Some. Not all. And believe it or not, I am in these woods to make sure the rotten ones don't become the majority. But much as it galls me to admit, I need help and information. From you." He couldn't help his distaste.
     "What if I don't want to help?"
     "Are all your kind so bloody annoying? I'm trying to prevent a mass extinction of your kind, and yet you Lycans keep insisting on being stubborn as mules. I tire of this. If you don't want to help me, I'll find another. So make up your mind. Are you coming with me or not? Because if not, then I'll just take the girl and go. The sun is coming, and much like you and your fair skin, its rays are not my friend."
     The red-haired wolf snorted. "I hardly call a sunburn on my lily-white skin the same, seeing as how you turn into campfire dust. But I guess I don't have many options. You promise not to hurt us?" Blue eyes met his with serious intent.
     Thaddeus replied in kind, "I won't hurt you." Seduce the girl, and possibly kill the redhead once he didn't need him? Yes, but he'd make it quick and painless. So not entirely a lie.
     The mutt nodded, despite the female's gasped, "Marc, no. Don't believe him."
     "Hush, woman." It only took a quick glance her way to quiet her. At least his power worked on her. He turned back to the male. "Glad we're agreed. I'll carry the woman, but I need you to do me a favor. Bring the body of our dead friend there, would you? His injury is only temporary, and while I doubt he'll recover before sunrise, we wouldn't want to accidentally turn some cuddly forest creatures into blood-sucking freaks."
     "You're kidding, right?" the Marc fellow asked.
     "Of course." Thaddeus smiled wide, too wide, and watched the other man swallow hard before leaning to pick up the body. As for the woman, she might not have the power to speak aloud, but Thaddeus had access to her mind, which muttered, "Men."
     Ah, a female with spirit. This hunt just got more and more interesting.

When Shin heard and read that, it was as if the ground under him broke.
He could hardly believe what he was reading.
'That many survived?'

Shin tried to recall everything and found out that he never once counted the number of wolves that were present in the Clan.
Also, it was indeed true that he hadn't seen all the places of the Biola Clan. It was only the front area in which all were resting.
'Come to think of it, the Biola clan's front area itself was twice as big as White wolves' Clan!', Shin realized that.

Shin now knew that names were quite important and special for the beasts because of which he was a bit reluctant to name the pup.
However, that didn't mean that he wouldn't name the pup. If the pup would ever meet a stronger beast or someone of higher order, then it could always get another name if it didn't like it!

Nadia blinked once with her large yellow eyes. She slowly stood up and opened her muzzle, "Have I been useless?"
Davis pursed his lips, not knowing what made her think of that but he didn't ponder much and said, "It's precisely because you're useful that I said you're free to go. You have protected Evelynn many times already as far as I know and I think that is more than enough."
Nadia blinked again while Evelynn flew towards Nadia and caressed her soft furry cheeks with an uncertain gaze, "He means that you've paid your debts by saving me many times, so you're free to return to your clan."
Nadia whimpered, sounding reluctant.
'As expected... They've grown rather close...' Davis inwardly smiled as he saw how these two behaved. 
Evelynn proactively conversed and made friends with Nadia after she had been saved a lot of times. To her, Nadia was both a mount and a benefactor, so the two facts combined made her treat Nadia closely.

Evelynn turned to look at Davis expectantly but she didn't urge him. For all she knew, he could have plans to use his secrets in the Sunset Tear Mountain, so she didn't want to influence his thoughts too much.
However, she felt if Nadia was with them and could even become their mount, it would be better.
Davis looked at the blameless ground for a few seconds before he shot a look towards the female wolf leader, "Say, Nadia, are you willing to permanently become my mount?"
Nadia's big yellow eyes shot wide and so did Evelynn's.
Nadia stayed silent for a few seconds before she replied, "I think not..."
Davis smiled wryly on hearing her answer.
He got rejected...
"How about me? Are you willing to become my mount?" Evelynn by the side echoed with narrowed eyes.
In truth, she was rather angry with Nadia that she rejected her husband's request but realizing that it was permanent, she rather understood Nadia's answer. Hence, she couldn't help but ask.
Nadia shook her head vehemently this time, vastly worse than the time she replied to Davis.
Evelynn looked as if she received a heart attack. She held her heart and fell to the ground as if she felt incredible pain, overreacting to Nadia's rejection.
"Hahaha..."
But this seemingly overexaggerated reaction of hers made Davis laugh which made Evelynn smile back at him.
In truth, Davis was just pondering over how he got rejected by two times for two different requests by two beauties rather made him feel worse, but Evelynn's goofiness cleared it all away like a high tide that cleaned away all the trash from the shore!
He looked at Evelynn's smiling face and realized for she managed to make that rather awkward situation into a comical one.
He chuckled and looked at the female wolf who looked worried.
"Alright, Nadia. You can become our mount for the time until we exit this Sunset Tear Mountain and also, you would have to listen to my words during this time like in the past."
"Got it?"
Nadia instantly echoed as her yellow eyes flashed, "Yes!"

They were attacked by Magical Beasts Clans without much of a surprise, hence, Davis had no choice but to make a show of strength. Nadia's Lord Beast Stage undulations flared and no one belonging to the Peak-Level Sky Grade Clans dared to attack them anymore.
However, he only told her to do so after making Evelynn use her Poison Attributed Essence Gathering Cultivation against the opportunistic Magical Beasts who thought that they were weak.

Nadia gradually became to comprehend how to conceal her undulations because of her species trait and darkness attributes working in tandem to teach her, so she was quickly able to learn it and she always concealed her Lord Beast Stage undulations.
If she wanted to kill a Lord Beast Stage Magical Beast, then she had more chances to succeed if she stayed in the shadows to ambush. She had more than fifty percent chances to take down the Magical Beast of equal level and stage in a single strike!

Other than this, I'm planning for individual mass releases as well but don't rely on it.

Shami undressed as she prepared to turn into her wolf form. The transformation usually had her limbs grow extra bone joints as well as have her human parts dissolve into her animal form. She noosed a sack with 2 mana plants in it, in case her wolf form would quickly burn out her mana reserves. As she embarked to the den of the wolves, with her brown thick fur and ravenous teeth showing, she simply  worried about one thing. Encountering the master of the Ethereal Woods. If Tanatswa had dug deeper into asking her how she would go about meeting and discussing with these blood thirsty wolves, he would have probably disallowed her to go. The reason behind her taking this risk alone, was because she believed that it was the best possible solution to ward off any survivors with evil intentions.


Tanatswa had set a target of at least 20 unicorns, primarily the adult animals. He could out run them at his current level and easily subdue them. The thought of animal conservation didn't cross his mind so he simply went in to kill, with his heart sealed. Tanatswa would observe a herd and then leap towards them. The free fall method was efficient in catching the wildlife by surprise. As soon as he would land in the centre, he would swing his hands against their fragile limbs and bludgeon them to death. One by one, he would subdue them and take them down. 



His fists would gore the beasts, with blood gushing out as he punched through their abdominal muscles, backs, necks and limbs. there was an outcry amongst the unicorns and herbivorous creatures. The land was drenched in blood and even Tanatswa became soaked in it. The carcasses that were left from the onslaught were tied together inside a huge net. The net was made using the thick vines. Tanatswa lifted their weight and moved with their carcasses like a dung beetle. The animals feared him, but he didn't care. All that engulfed his mind was how Shami was handling her end of the arrangement.




Shami got close to the woods, stricken with fear but at the same time hoping for the best. She began to howl, signalling the other wolfs from deep within. She had made it a point to have the location of the dark figure added to her custom goal. The wolves, from what she had gathered, were not loyal to the sadistic alien woman, but simply enjoyed her company because she provided them a healthy breeding ground and an area where they can easily kill off animals that wandered off. 



If the dark figure, took interest in a random wolf calling her wolves, she would immediately retreat and have to face the facts that she failed, but to her fortune, her location remained constant. All that ended up happening was a pack of wolves, sprinting from the depths of the woods, heading towards her. Regardless of the fact that she could look like these beasts, most of them had a higher level than her. Unlike Tanatswa who had recently reached level 4, if these wolves were to attack her, she would probably die. She was risking herself and her child, but hopefully this meeting would yield beneficial results.


The alpha male of the pack took the lead, with his entourage of 17 wolves to back him up. Shami recognised one of the wolves she practiced communication and began to speak.


"Blood hound, I have come again, this time with a proposition." she said, barking as she conveyed her message in the language the wolves understood.

"Packless female, why have you come? No male here has an interest in breeding with a female that's expecting a pup. Unless you have found a good hunting ground, the pack will be angry." said the wolf.
"I have food, but it's the food that comes from my master. The human who lives by the fortress of stone, offers you unicorn flesh and anything that chews the cud. We will hunt for you and gather the meat, but in return, you will safeguard his fortress from visitors who wish to steal his possessions." she said, feigning confidence. As soon as she was done, the alpha of pack howled and all the rowdiness accompanied by the entire pack became silent. The wolf known as bloodhound, kept quiet and left her fate to be determined by the alpha male.

"So you come unexpectedly, already bearing the child of a wolf unknown to our clan and think you can offer us something good in return for us protecting your human master. How true is it that there will be meat that will sate my pack? If the meat is as good as you say, then we could consider assisting you, or you could give us your master so that we can devour it's flesh." said the alpha wolf, whose domineering presence gave her the chills.
"I will not give away my master to be eaten, besides he would probably kill you if you tried to challenge him." she said, defiantly, as if driven by her wolf instincts to give a snarky response.
"You dare taunt me wretched female! My pack can do away with you right now and we would go on with our everyday lives without agreeing to your deal. If it is as strong as you say, then you have no need for us to guard you fortress." said the alpha of the pack. The surrounding wolves began to growl, showing her their hostility. She had hoped that the wolves would be agreeable and simply oblige her offer, but the pack lead was being stubborn.



"You'd honestly attack me, knowing that it is a struggle to hunt and gather meat these days, especially with the animals well aware of your tactics? I am offering you a simple solution in which you don't have to use effort." she remarked, barking furiously.
"We are happy with the blue creature that governs us. Whatever you have to offer, must topple her..." said the wolf before being attacked. Shami morphed her back hind legs into talons and sprouted wings immediately as she pounced on the alpha. her claws wedged deep into the back of the alpha and she began to lift the beast into the air. The wolves began to bark loudly and even attempted to tackle her in mid air. She evaded their advances and managed to hold onto the weight of the alpha.



 The alpha was shaking uncontrollably, trying to free itself from her hold. The wolf form that had wings and back legs for talons was holding the animal tight, as blood trickled from its shoulders. Shami had decided to use the only other method that worked in convincing these brutes. Killing the alpha. She flew up high, trying by all means to close to the planet's stratosphere. When her mana was close to reaching zero, she maneuvered her head and took a bite from the bah that was noosed over her neck. No matter how much the alpha struggled, she maintained her grip. It was no different from curling a weight in a stationary position and thanks to her boyfriend's gym enthusiasm, she learned how to endure muscle fatigue. When she began to feel the absence of oxygen, she decided to let the alpha loose. If she had gone for a direct confrontation, the wolves would have ganged up on her and killed her. It was in the spur of the moment, but she decided to get rid of her problem in her own unique way.



As the alpha's body fell down, she flapped her wings, gliding close behind as the wolf dealt with free fall. In 6 minutes  16 seconds, the alpha's body landed splat on the ground. After falling 30000 feet it's body got wrecked by the impact and instantly died. Shami landed on top of the body and began to howl, calling for the wolves. If this didn't work, then she had just made her boyfriend slaughter those unicorns for nothing. In a matter of moments, the pack converged at where she was, with grimaced facial expressions on their faces. Before they got within 10 feet of her she began to bark loudly at them.



"You stubborn alpha was killed by a mere pregnant female, offering you a solid solution. Do not be foolish like your leader here who has met his end. You are to get you best wolves, to guard the fortress I speak of and agree to my terms." she demanded. The rest of the pack howled for their alpha, but soon enough, they obliged her. If their leader could be killed by her, then they owed it to themselves to entertain her whims. The carcass of the alpha was defecated on by the entire pack, soiled in shame as the animals relieved themselves. Not long after this, Shami returned to home base with a pack of wolves. Upon witnessing this pack show up at their home, Tanatswa was ready to execute them until he noticed Shami among the wolves. She then told the wolves to devour the unicorn flesh as a ceremonial pact of agreement. The beasts dug into the meat, voraciously chewing and beckering with each other as they fattened their tummies. Tanatswa found these animals revolting and simply looked away. Shami went inside and then reverted back to her human form. She quickly dressed up to hide her nakedness and when Tanatswa showed up they began to discuss.



"So that went well then?" asked Tanatswa, who was curious.
"Yeah, it did. I was a bit scared that it wouldn't but it did. Gosh, wolves are really scary to talk to." said Shami, languidly.
"So they are going to be our guard dogs, just like that?"
"Yeah. We now own killer hounds. I guess we are expanding our household." she said, before being overcome with a sudden lapse in strength. Her nausea was kicking in and she thus began to vomit. Tanatswa rushed to get a bucket so that she wouldn't spoil the floor. Upon handing her one, he held her by the should and aided her. Tanatswa then went onto to say, "I will give you the herb stuff for your tummy. This should help with the nausea." Tanatswa rushed into the kitchen and opened cabinets where there were containers with mixed herb solutions. He quickly returned to her to administer the medicine and she took it in, slowly as she sweated.



"I think I need to lie down and rest Tanatswa. I am sorry I messed up the floor. It must be gross having to clean after your girlfriend's vomit. I promise to be extra..." she said, feeling a bit self conscious.
"It's not a problem. You just rest. Don't think too much about it." he said, trying to placate her.
"You're way too nice. Needy women would like that." said, snarkly.
"If you can joke even in your condition, then you really aren't that bothered." he chuckled.



Shami was laid in bed to rest, breathing slowly as she began her siesta. Tanatswa, quickly returned to the noise that came from outside, a noise that made him feel uncomfortable. The wolves devoured and made the flesh disappear before him. When they were done, they simple stayed near the fortress as a pack. The stench of carcasses had been decreased by the fellowship of these hounds, but as far as he could tell, they were not showing any hostility towards him. They had become subservient and now they owned pet killer hounds. When Tanatswa was satisfied, he immediately, went on to take a bath. He washed off all the blood on his body and came out sparkly clean without the smell of carcasses. Tanatswa then went in to check on Shami and found her sleeping. Instead of bothering her he decided to leave her in peace as he left to train. The distanced that was left for the visitors to show up was now less than 60km as indicated by his custom goal navigation points. If they were going to reach their home either tomorrow or the following day, he would be prepared for them. This motivated him as he began to experiment more with his ability, Refiner.

A young man struggles with unemployment, failed dreams and overall becoming a useless member in society and decides to kill himself. "So am I to believe that you have been expecting me?"

His white eyes scrutinised me like he was waiting for the punch line. When I didn't provide one he raised a bushy brow questioningly.

"My king did you not seek us out intentionally?"

I shook my head confused.

"Well no, I didn't even know you existed."

Thoran laughed.

"No my boy that's not what I meant."

I turned to Vale for help. This old geezer made even less sense then this village.

"When you ran from your pack, as your exhaustion set into your bones what was on your mind?"

I thought back to those final moments before I passed out to tired to go on. I had thought of a lot of things. My thoughts then were mostly of hopelessness. But mostly....

"Well I guess I was seeking guidance. Begging to find a way to help save the people I care about."

Thorans white eyes stared as his hair covered lips smiled widely.

"And that my king is what brought you here."

I stared at him speechless. Was he trying to tell me that I had willed myself to find This place? These people? Even if that's true to what end? What guidance was I meant to learn by being here?

"You are still skeptical i see. You never change in any of your life times."

My life times? How old was this guy? He was human wasn't he? Maybe the others were human with him as the exception. If that was the case what was he then? I sniffed the air to try figure it out but all I got was definitely human. He laughed at my actions.

"I am human my king I can assure you of that. However as you probably guessed I am older then time itself. You see I was one of the first humans in existence."

The fuck? How was that possible? To answer my unasked question Thoran picked up the now empty cup and before my eyes he became transparent the cup slipping through his hands to hit the table rolled to the floor. I watched its trail til Vale snatched it up. I expected her to place the cup back on the table but instead she smiled as she to became transparent the cup again falling to the floor.  I stumbled back in fear growling at the strange phenomenon. 

"What the hell are you?"

I glanced to the door wondering how I would escape these creatures. Thoran laughed at my reaction as he indicated the floor for me to sit back down.

"Calm down my king we mean you no harm."

When I didn't move he sighed.

"Please be seated and allow me to explain. If you still wish to leave when all is said you may do so."

Slowly I returned to my seat on the floor by his side but keeping a much larger distance between us. He steepled his hands before him as he started his tale.

"Firstly we are humans or more to the point we were humans. We were the first humans of existence. We were there when the first kings were created. I'm sure by now that you know the tale of your first life?"

I nod not trusting my own voice.

"The tale has changed much over the years. you are aware of the Chinese whisper effect?"

"Yes each time a story is told inaccuracies occur until the story is no longer the true one."

"Very good so you understand that after thousands of years the story you know now has inaccuracies that have changed it's true facts. That's not to say it didn't happen just like the story you know but pieces of information has been twisted or even left out completely. Well now I will tell you the true story as I witnessed it myself thousands of years ago."

Vale corporal once more grabbed my hands in hers as she urged me to close my eyes. Hesitantly I copied her closing my own eyes as I was thrown into darkness. When Thoran spoke once more I saw everything with my own eyes as he saw it thousands of years ago.

"It's true that there was two brothers made into kings one to rule humans and one to rule the supernatural world. It's also true that the human king forced the older brothers mate to be his wife with the power given to him by the moon goddess. When the wolf king realised she was his mate he didn't go to the moon goddess for guidance at first as you may have been told but he rejected her not knowing that her will had been taken. He sacrificed his mated bond in favour of peace. 
Of course if he had of know about her circumstances he never would have let her go. 

However things never turn out the way we think they will. It was the female that preyed to the moon goddess for help. Filled with hate towards both brothers for what they had done she begged to be free of both of them. The moon goddess granted her wish giving her part of her own power so that she would be free to choose her own path. However she left the female with a warning that if she continued to hold on to her hate she would be cursed. 
The female now free of both brothers influences she tried to live a life of her choosing. However as the years passed her hate for what the brothers had done turned her bitter. She could not let go of her hate for them. It was a poison inside her that only grew with each year. Not being able to live with the pain that they had caused her she returned to the two kingdoms. To the human king who had stolen her will she stole his power while he slept.

With that power she travelled to the wolf king and secretly hid the power inside her former mate. When the human king found out that his power was now in the hands of his brother he accused him of stealing it. The wolf king tried to reason with him swearing that he didn't steal it and was prepared to give it back peacefully. However the human brother did not believe his wolf twin thinking he meant to trick him and steal his kingdom to rule over both races. A war broke out between the kingdoms. The wolf brother was forced into a war that he had sacrificed his own mate to prevent. The female had taken away what the two brothers valued most. The human king his power, the wolf king his peace. 

Not wanting to go against his goddesses wishes of peace it was at this time that the wolf king prayed his the moon goddess to help him stop the war. The moon goddess appeared to him. She told him the truth about his mate and what the brother had done. Then she told him of what she had done to both of them fuelled by her hatred. The wolf king beside himself with grief over what had been done to his mate begged the goddess to show her mercy. He offered to to carry her curse in her place believing his rejection of her was what sent her over the edge. 
The moon goddess denied his request however she saw honour in him. She saw the error in her original plan of two kings to keep the peace between two races. Seeing that of the three the wolf king was they only innocent in all that had happened. So she offered him a way to save his mate and the two races from war. 
The wolf king would keep the power that was given to his brother so that he may rule both races together as one kingdom instead of two. By doing this the war would end. 
As for his mate, her curse would deny her the true peace of death. She would be reborn again and again forced to endure the same hardships over and over. To save his mate the wolf king would be reborn with her cursed along side her. Her curse would only be lifted the day she let go of her hatred and excepted her fated bond for what it was. A destiny of true happiness with the one she loved."

Vale's hands pulled from mine as I opened my eyes things I had seen in the darkness gone as well. I didn't know what to say. While it wasn't that different from what Roake had told me it was different enough. However there was still something missing.

"I get that the wolf king shared in her curse but you didn't mention the human brother. What became of him? Did the moon goddess curse him with immortality as I'd been told."

Thoran sighed like that was an even longer story that he really didn't like telling.

"That my king is why we have been waiting for you."

This time it was Vale who told the story without the strange visuals.

"You see when the human brother was stripped of his crown for what he had had done he was overcome with rage. He found out about the deal his brother made with the moon goddess. He Began to plan his revenge upon both his brother and the female he had called wife. He preyed to the sun god the moon goddess enemy and offered his soul for immortality. The sun god amused and more then willing to mess with the moon goddesses children granted his request. 
Then he sort out the female who had caused his down fall. She had been in hiding fearing the curse she had caused upon herself not knowing what it was at the time. 
The human king found her planning to kill her but before he did he told her what he had learnt. She wept with the knowledge that her mate did love her and had planned to share in her curse with the hopes of saving her. The human king enjoyed her pain and vowed to follow her through every life that she lived and with every power at his disposal would ensure her curse never ended. She would be forever cursed as long as he lived."

I growled just thinking of Driak. But there was something else bothering me about this new version of the story. Does that mean that when I was told my fated mate would help me control my power what it really did was end our curse and if that was the case that means in all these years all the times I had lived not once had we been able to be mates. If we had then the curse would have ended, but that's not possible surely I had heard of other times when the king found his mate hadn't I? The more I thought about it the more I realised no one ever told me that those other kings, those other reincarnations had found their mate only that when they did her power would keep mine under control. I was pulled from my thoughts as Vale continued.

"After the sun god made Driak immortal and he killed the female he then went on to kill the red eyed king. Thus starting their cursed existence. The moon goddess was unable to reverse what the sun god had done so she did the next best thing. She asked us her first creations to help. She asked that a select few offer their souls to help keep the peace in the world. We the people who loved and were loyal the wolf king for his kind and just rule were more then happy to give our souls if it would help keep our kings peace. 
She created this place so that we may help the red eyed king if ever Driak interfered in the curse upon you and your mate. You see with each life that you live you have no knowledge of your previous lives which puts you at a disadvantage against Driak. That's where we come in to tell you of what transpired so that you are better equipped to use the power the moon goddess allowed you to keep to stop Driaks interference. While you can not kill him indefinitely you can at least trap him for a time giving you a fare chance to break Raines curse."

I shook my head not quite understanding.

"What do you mean by use my power? Use it how? I always thought of it as something bad, to be feared so when I feel it I force it back down. To me it's like a darkness that's trying to take over."

Vale stared at me in shock like I was saying the most ridiculous thing she had ever heard. It was Thoran who spoke this time his eyes glaring at me.

"Do you mean to say my king that you have had your power but never learnt to use it to its full extent?"

I groaned in frustration.

"I don't even know what's it's meant to do?"

Thoran seemed shocked at my words.

"No wonder you found your way here. The darkness you've been feeling the power you've been fighting is pure magic. The power that was given to the king to rule both races is not evil or dark it just is. It is an extension or your will. If your heart is pure I can be used for great good. If your heart is full of hate it can be a source of great destruction. It is dangerous in the wrong hands which is part of the reason it was given to you. It only feels dark because you fight against it. If you let it into your heart you can do many wonderful things to help keep peace in this world. If you want to stop Driak from influencing your mate you must let it in for only with its power can you hope to stop him."

Great that helped....not! That didn't exactly tell me what it did. I sighed rubbing my eyes feeing tired again. This was getting to much my head was reeling trying to take in all that they had told me. Sensing my fatigue Vale smiled as she stood up.

"Why don't we take a break you can rest upstairs if you want."

Mentally exhausted I nodded as I followed her up the stairs. There was only one room with hand made mattresses stuffed with feathers and fur but hell I didn't care I just needed to close my eyes even for just a little while.

"I'll wake your for the feast the village has planned later if you'd like?"

I nodded to tired to even answer as I lay down not even waiting for her to leave as my eyes closed. Even though I'd only been awake for half the day after everything I couldn't stop the sleep from taking over. Oh well maybe things will make more sense when I wake up. Yeah right it would take a life time to wrap my head around it all lucky for me turns out more life times is about all I have. Still maybe this life time will be the one. Maybe this life time I'll save her and end our curse. Maybe this life time will be when I finally know what it feels like to be with her, to be loved by her. It made me glad I didn't remember my other lives who would want to remember thousands of years where you almost got to be with your fated mate only to have it ripped away from you? It made me even more determined that this life I would do it right. I will strip her of her hate. This time I'll replace it with my love instead.

Just as I was about to turn to do another lap of the cabin something grabbed my hair and slammed my head into the kitchen bench. My body sank to the floor stars clouding my vision. My hand went to my head something wet staining them. Looking down at my fingers fear overcame me as I saw blood. 
Some one chuckled behind me making me turn my head too fast the world spinning with it. My eyes widened as the stranger from earlier slowly came into focus. 
I tried to stand up but my head pounded making me slump back to the ground. The stranger took one slow step at a time as he bent down to my level.

"Wh....what....?"

I tried to talk but the swirling in my head wouldn't stop. Reaching out he grabbed my hair lifting me to my feet. His grip on my hair was making my head hurt more forcing a small yelp out of my mouth. I tried to push him away but it was like trying to swat a fly. His eyes glowed as he stared down at me. His lips spread into a smile showing his canines. 

"I found you."

I glared at him through my pain induced haze. This only seemed to make his lips spread wider.

"Don't look at me like that cherry blossom. It's your own fault. you know how I get when your not with me."

I tried to speak again confused by his words.

"Wh...who....are...you?"

He let go of my hair quickly wrapping his arms around me the movement jolting my already spinning head. My hands were trapped between us as he reached with his hand touching my face. His fingers tracing my jaw line.

"You really don't know do you?"
Terrified my voice shook as i cringed away from his touch. I could only manage one word but it was enough for him to know what I was asking.

"Why?"

He laughed grabbing my hair again pain making my body shake. His face twisted making his handsome face turn ugly. Leaning closer his lips pressed up against my ears like it was a secret.  

"Because your mine."

A low growl escaped my throat that was cut off as he started to drag me to the door by my hair. What was he doing? Where was he taking me? Why did he want me? Was he someone from my past? Is this what I was running from when I ended up in the woods four years ago?
I tried to grab whatever I could but everything just slipped through my fingers. I couldn't let him do this, I had to fight. I was stronger then this. I heard the door to the cabin swing open as he dragged me outside. Taking a deep breath I used the incline of the stairs to kick off as I grabbed his hand that was tangled in my hair I swung my leg around kicking him in the head.

His grip on my hair loosened enough that I could get free. Forcing myself to my feet I ran, as I ran I shifted into wolf mid stride. in wolf form the pain in my head started easing the shift exhilarating the healing process. Now that I could think straight I dug my paws preparing to pick up the speed. 
I never got the chance however as I was hit from behind. The weight of his wolf pinning me to the ground as he dug his teeth into the scuff at my neck. I yelped at the pain as his teeth sank into the flesh beneath. He stopped biting down before he snapped my neck. Pulling back he bit down again this time on my side. Pain enveloped my whole body the ground turning red with my blood.

I tried to get him off, snapping at him. Tried sinking my teeth into his black and white coat to the flesh beneath but my strength was weaning. He was too strong and I was loosing too much blood. There was nothing I could do as my body went still. I lay panting exhausted with no way out. Whoever this was had won and was going to take me. Every fibre in my being knew that once he did I'd never return again.

Just as my eyes started to close my exhaustion starting to make me loose consciousness the pressure that was digging into my side was ripped away. With effort I forced my eyes open as the sounds of growling filled the woods. My eyes followed the sounds to see the biggest wolf. His pure black pelt the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen.
