"It's about your Fantasy Serum!" Master Gino said as he smiled coldly.
He then switched on his smart bracelet and projected a report in front of everyone. "This is one of our analysis reports on the Fantasy Serum. The analysis shows that Mr. Clown's Fantasy Serum and Red Night's Blood contain the same ingredient. This substance is similar to most hallucinogens."
In layman terms, hallucinogens were drugs that caused users to become addicted to them in an instant, rendering the users unable to control their usage. Not only did hallucinogens damage the body, but they also caused people to become more and more lazy, as well as rendering them increasingly unable to distinguish reality from illusion.
Sudden cries of alarm were heard at the scene! Some of the forces present had studied the Fantasy Serum, but the composition of the Fantasy Serum had not yet been analyzed. Upon hearing the news, many people exclaimed in surprise...
"There's a hallucinogenic ingredient in the Fantasy Serum!"
"Doesn't this mean that taking Fantasy Serums can cause illusions and make people sink into oblivion?"

"I have yet to finish talking, so why are you so anxious?" Steve's expression remained calm.
Master Gino looked at Steve calmly, trying to gauge how cunning he really was. Others were also watching Steve, and many of the people present regarded him as a legend, who had a great influence on the future of pharmaceutics.
But now that they were being told that the legendary figure they'd worshipped was actually a drug maker! This would naturally be a great blow to anyone!
"Actually, even if Mr. Gino had not mentioned the composition of the Fantasy Serum, I would've also have mentioned it today." Steve remained calm as he said, "But to clarify, my serum contains psychotropic ingredients, not hallucinogenic ingredients."
"What psychotropic ingredients? These are clearly hallucinogenic ingredients and drugs!" Philip suddenly cried out, followed by other naysayers...
"Yes, you are a drug maker!"
"We've all been deceived! He's just a drug dealer!"
Many people in the crowd followed suit and scolded the Clown Pharmacist.
"Quiet!" President Sidney shouted loudly. "This is a professional exchange conference!, an anyone who dares to create a scene shall be escorted out."
The security guards rushed up immediately, then stood at the front of the platform to protect the safety of the masters. After all, there were a lot of important people here, and if a conflict or a riot was to occur, no matter who got injured or died, it would have a huge impact on the pharmaceutical world.
Philip, who had wanted to stir up the crowd, immediately fell silent when he saw the army of guards coming in. The riotous crowd also quieted down upon seeing them.
Steve didn't speak again until the whole room was quiet. "Now, I want to talk about the direction of my research."
As Steve switched on his smart bracelet, three reports were projected for all to see. "There are three different packages here, one of which is an ordinary Sub-atomic Serum, while the second is a hallucinogen, and the third is the Fantasy Serum."
The Clown Pharmacist's official package of the ingredients of the Fantasy Serum immediately attracted the attentions of all the pharmacists present, as everyone was very interested in the package of ingredients.
"I know you're very interested in the Fantasy Serum. As for its package composition, I'll post it to online. Then, anyone who pays for it can download it," Steve said.
He then added, "From the report, we can see that the difference between the Fantasy Serum and the Sub-atomic Serum is that the Fantasy Serum has more components that are similar to hallucinogens."
Steve went on with his explanation, "This part of the ingredients, when compared with hallucinogens, is indeed a little similar. And… Here...This is the psychotropic agent I'm talking about."
Many pharmacists were all looking at the intercepted ingredients that Steve was now projecting on the screen, as well as the ingredients in ordinary hallucinogens, while carefully observing the branch structure of the two and observing that both of them did have some similarities.
"What's the difference between psychotropic serums and hallucinogens?" President Sidney could not help but ask.

As people's ideas and mindsets were previously focused on how to improve serums and how to integrate serums to produce more different serums, when the Clown Pharmacist put forward the idea of pairing spirituality with pharmacy, people saw this to be an open door to a whole new world!

I never expected God Himself to be a fan of mine.

When I was creating my game I never had the thought it would be popular honestly. Let alone the fact that I would be having the Holy Maker and His Angels become obsessed with it.

 

It was just a game where you summoned mythological warriors and controlled them, and fought other people online. I mean, there was more to do, but it wasn't anything special.




It was earlier that day that I found out any of this...

 

I suddenly found myself in some sort of otherworldly realm. I had just finished making myself an excellent breakfast and had found the time to sit at my desk and relax when of all things it happened.

 

An angelic girl appeared before me.

She dressed in a long white t-shirt which wasn't exactly how I pictured a holy Angel to dress. She hovered about, flapping her feathery wings. She wore no pants only white undies, which I deduced by the amount of leg revealed to me. I could admittedly see a lot from my position below her.

 

Come to think of it, we dressed quite similar. Perhaps we both were lazy NEETs who played games in our pajamas all day.

 

"Raito-san...! But didn't you wear that same pair of black underwear yesterday?"

 
Those were the Angel's first words to me.

I could tell this was going to be a bizarre experience for me from here on.
 

"...? I'm not dead, am I??" I asked.


"Sorry about your cereal. I realize it'll get soggy if it just sits there on your desk but I needed your help~"


"..."


"It's not like I really interrupted anything anyways. It's not like you do much."

 

Now I was here with a spoon in my hand and an angelic being chastising me.

I had to be dead. This must be hell. I'm forever stuck in this room with her. The constant fear of my cereal getting soggier by the minute was surely going to drive me insane.

But, she did make it sound like she was only borrowing me. If that was the case, I hope this was only a quick question or two. I hope I wasn't trapped in a real-life isekai.

This is how most of them start off after all. A moment of confusion, some almighty figure oppressing you, then banished to some fantasy land for the rest of your life.

It checks all of the boxes.

Damn. As fun as an Isekai adventure sounds, I'll pass on it. You see, I'm rich now back home. My game is widely successful and it's even got its own manga and anime series releasing soon based on the light novels. I'm going to be able to sit back and do absolutely nothing soon! Just like I used to, but this time with lots of money.


"Who are you?"

I questioned with my spoon in my mouth.



"Whoops, I should probably do a proper introduction~~"
The Angel cleared her throat.


"My name is Serenity. I'm an Angel and the Overseer of your island region. I know this might be a lot to take in but we've summoned you for a particular reason, okay~~"

 
"What is it?" I asked.


"You know the online game that you developed on your own? God Game Royale?"



I nodded my head.
"I know a little about it."


"Well, I've been watching you play it for months straight now and I started playing too, but I can't beat my coworkers, no matter how many times I try."


Wait?! You play GGR?!"

 
The Angel looked embarrassed.


"I need your help, Raito-san," said Serenity the Angel.

 
"You're telling me Angels play video games?"


"Yep. What else is there to do up here? It's boring. There's no scenery and everyone is too busy getting along. Games are the only way we angels ever get to release our anger! Who do you think is yelling at you on the mic!"


"Usually some Russian guy, if it's on PC. If I'm playing on a console it's usually an angry twelve-year-old. Are you telling me those are..."


"Yep. Those two were Angels! Artyom loves games!" said the Angel.


"Hmm, alright. .. So what did you need help with? Beating your coworkers, you said?"

 

The Angel nodded her head.

 

"Which summons do you main?" I asked.


"I like to use Enyo..."


I choked on her reply, coughing loudly.


"Enyo?! Enyo damages herself with her own special moves. She's like Pichu before they made him good. No wonder you've never won a game. For starters, you should choose Ares, who is an all-around better Slayer-class summon."


The Angel giggled.
I had accidentally exposed my nerdiness.
Damn.


"But, I'm good with Enyo," said Serenity.


"It doesn't sound like your good at all if you can't beat any of your coworkers."


"Enyo is the best, okay! I'm good with her!" she insisted.


"No one's good with Enyo! So there, you don't need my help anymore. Just pick a different summon and try someone new. Now can you send me back home? This place is making me uncomfortable. It's like I'm dead and waiting to be judged on my past life."


"Well, you see. At first, it was only me playing the game but it soon spread to the other Angels. Now every Angel here plays God Game Royale... erm, even the Almighty himself," said Serenity.

 

"The Lord plays God Game Royale?! I can't picture God playing video games honestly. I bet he wins every time, doesn't he?!"


"Not only does he play obsessively --which is why he has no time for prayers anymore-- but because of our complete obsession with the game at the office, so to speak, we've decided we needed to experience that world for real."


"Uh, what?....did you just say?..."
Did she just say what I think she said? I don't like where this is going.


"We've recreated your game for realsies! Isn't that exciting?!"


"No! That's horrifying!" I shouted.


"Aw, man. I thought you'd be excited! It's your world after all! Usually, the Almighty creates movie and anime worlds. He doesn't normally do it for this genre! It's awesome!"

I shook my head.
"Seriously cancel those plans! That's a terrible idea! Our world is fine, we don't want to experience God Game Royale in real life! I came up with most of the game mechanics when I was sleep-deprived! I stayed awake for seven days working on terrible world-building. The elves weren't sexy enough! I had to dedicate myself to it! Because of this, the rest of the world isn't even well made or thought out! Don't do it! I stole most of my characters from my favourite games and shows even! It's a bad idea!"

"Well, it's too late! The Almighty is already too excited to see his new isekai in action. Since you are often at the top of the leaderboard in your own game we would like to get your opinion on it. Playing your own game competitively is pretty unfair by the way! It's like when the Almighty's Son played Earth Isekai and used all those cheat codes. Anyways, we want to make sure the world meets with your expectations, of course!" said the Angel.


"Great..."


"It is! Isn't it?"


"No! No, it's not!"


"One last thing..." said the Angel.

 
I let out a deep sigh.
"What is it?"

 
"The Almighty asks if you have any requests before we send you to this domain. Surely, you'll want an advantageous bonus, which we shouldn't allow... You are the Holy Maker of this world after all. What item do you want? Is it a powerful memento? Or maybe a fancy dinner? Any wish is fine."


(Well, I already know not to take her with me. I already know the outcome of an event like that happening.)


"Fancy dinner? You're making this sound like my last meal! Am I going to die down there?"

 
"I mean, probably. Everybody does," said the Serenity with a shrug.


"Jesus, Serenity," I replied.


"You want your legendary wish to be Jesus? He would probably enjoy exploring this world with you, actually. I'll text him."


"Wait, what?! No, it was only an expression! Stop texting him! That's not the legendary wish I want!"

 
"Oh. He just replied. He sounds stoked man!... I'm going to have to tell him you said no now..."

(It's actually pretty hilarious she has Jesus on speed dial, but maaann this Angel was dumb in the head. How she became an Overseer was beyond me.)

 
"Oh, by the way. Angels read thoughts. Most prayers are done internally as a matter of fact!! So stop it, you dummy! I'm just glad I'm not some pervert weirdo like you, who lewds his own video game characters. That's weird, dude!"

 
"You're being lewd right now! We're literally having a conversation in our underwear."

 
"What's weird about that? Who's got time to get dressed?" said the Angel.

 
"You're just as perverted as me I bet."


"I'm pure as a leaf, you NEET," said the Angel.


"Pure as a leaf is not an expression. No one says that."


"They do in Heaven!!"

The Angel fluttered her wings.
"So which magic thingy was it again? The Almighty told me to give you at least one super cool power or item before I let you leave. It can literally be anything. Your wish is my command. We don't care what you pick, because it'll be entertaining either way. You sure you don't want to take Jesus? He's a wizard at RPGs. Literally, Jesus is the best in the office, besides you know who -- the Big Cheese."

"This will be a very quick mission! I promise! Just go down to the new world and make sure it meets with your expectations!" she insisted.


"I have a question first. Are there game-like rules in this world?
Like server-side inventories, statistics and skill levels and level ups?"

 
"I dunno, I can't remember. That's not really my department."

 
I was going to request to be an Admin. That would give me access to all of the overpowered abilities and impenetrable invulnerability. But, it could also be a waste of a wish if this world goes by real world rules. I'd end up just being a normal guy with a useless Admin badge.

Maybe if I requested access to my dev room, assuming they recreated my game's world completely. I could just nab all of my secret developer gear from there and use that. There was an item there that would even allow me to open portals to return back.

Wait, I'll just ask for the portal item.
From there, I'll teleport in.
I'll grab all the gear one by one...

"---- Eh, stop trying to form some complicated plot in your head and just ask me for the World-Edit ability. You'll be able to do what you need with it."


Shit, I keep forgetting she can read my thoughts.


"Yeah, sure. I'll go with that, I guess."


The Angel wiggled her wings and hovered down to my level and by pressing her finger on my nose, she shrunk me down in size. She was now holding me in her hand like a little chess pawn.

The world began to generate around us. From my position on top of her palm, I could see the entire map of the familiar world I've spent thousands of hours creating appear before my eyes in pristine graphics.


"It looks like there are people down there already. Yeah, there's definitely people! Are they NPCs?"

 
"Oh. Well, we didn't just generate the world now. We just loaded it up for the first time on my server. Those are players from other worlds. Most of them are probably from Earth Isekai."


"How long has this world existed?!" I asked.

 
"This save file? I mean, I dunno. Angels don't perceive time the same as humans. Awhile I guess. I mean, they are still very much in their early days. But, so are Earth Isekai humans as a matter of fact. A few thousand more years and Earth Isekai might actually be a fun game. It's too similar to an RTS right now for me. Tense country border patrol simulators aren't my kind of game. I think even the Almighty got bored of it," said Serenity.
 

I could hear the sounds of a phone vibrating...

"One moment here... I'm getting a call!" said Serenity.

 

Serenity dropped me down to the world below. I flailed to and fro through the air.

I descended down towards the ground, doing somersaults on my way down. The wind tried to pull off my boxers, so I held them tightly in place.

I soon collided with the ground, creating a perfectly sized indent of my body in the grassy field below.

[Well, I'm surprised that didn't kill me.]

Serenity appeared above my crater hole, which felt like my personally dug grave. She had a dumb smirk across her face. Serenity was back to her regular size-- back to her natural short stature.


"Welcome to God Game Royale, Summoner!"


"Ugghh... She's using the intro line to my game... It sounds so cheezy when she says it..."

 
Serenity flicked me a small aluminum pin which I caught in my hand.

 
"There's your Admin badge! Now go explore the new world and make sure it meets with your expectations!"

 
"Well, my expectations are extremely low, so from that overhead view I seen I'd say it looks great. You guys knocked it out of the park. Great work team. Now I'm done right?"

 
"I'll pull you out when you've completed your mission!"


"It's still pretty unclear what that mission is!"

 
"Make sure to have fun! Bye bye now, sexy Raito-san!"

Why did this happen now!

It should have happened when I was poor and doing nothing, not when I finally made a name for myself and had money!

 

What a cruel, cruel world!

Have you ever been pulled into a conversation that you didn't want to be a part of? I have. Recently. With a beautiful Angel in her underwear. She thinks I'm some sort of mastermind. Well, I'm not. I'm just a lazy NEET. She must be an idiot!

Wind picked up and the lake shuddered. Like a miracle, the lake split in two right under Dave. He felt like he was free-falling into the serpent's maw.
Darkness covered Dave's vision. Then after a thud, light shone from above Dave. The lake crashed into itself as the two split sections merged together, creating a large wave.
Crimson blood spread at the depths of the lake, making the clear water a murky red. Dave swam up from what he believed to be the insides of the serpent. He was still confused by what just happened. But remembering the clear word, he heard before the lake split. He knew who was it that shouted it.
The tengu is here.
Dave rapidly swam up until he reached the lake surface. Looking up, the tengu was slowly flapping his wings, hovering in air with both arms crossed together while Dog was hanging from the tengu's leg, with one hand, while the other hand was holding his head protectively under his armpit.
"Dog? You won?" Dave asked.
Dog grunted in agreement.
'Why didn't I get a notification about it?' Dave wondered. Then he remembered that he had already ignored all the notification coming from the storm labyrinth.
Dave was about to inspect the notification until he remembered that the serpent was still underwater. He didn't know if the tengu had slain the serpent or just heavily wounded it. Dave decided it was safer to swim to the manticore and then plan his next step.
Dave swam across the lake until he arrived at the manticore. When he climbed up to the manticore's carapace, the tengu was already there while Dog was fixing his head above his shoulders.
Lone and the rest of Dave's party had taken a few steps away from the tengu. Lone especially was quite warry from the creature. He was something that made them dread the Storm Labyrinth a lot.
Dave inspected the notifications he had ignored before. Most of them were a report on the deaths of his underling in the storm labyrinth. But the last one was different.

"What's going on, Dave?" Lone asked.
"We just got a new super-unit all thanks to Dog."
The dullahan was amazing. Dog had managed to defeat the tengu in the ascension arena all by himself while it took Dave a lot of effort and time to beat the tengu with more than a hundred undead.
Dog grunted and nodded to Dave and took a step back.
The tengu moved toward Dave and spoke.
"Warrior of the dead. I have been brought back to life against my will. I have clear memory to the loss I suffered under your hands. As the loser, I shall follow your command. For this undead nature will allow me to sharpen my blade further." The tengu said in all archaic manner.
Dave nodded and said, "I have to thank you. You saved me from that serpent."
"It is but my duty to my commander. Now, I have left my students in the Storm Labyrinth. They disliked the fact that you revived me to undeath. You will have to deal with them yourself." The tengu said.
"You mean if I were ever to fight them…" Dave trailed.
"Yes, I shall not lend a hand. You will be on your own."
"No problem. I understand." Dave replied
"As for all matter. I shall lend you my blade. Use it wisely, Lich." The tengu said.
"What happened to that serpent?" Perfect asked.
"I don't know, Tengu here struck it down, it isn't going back up," Dave said.
Then a moment later, a notification appeared in front of Dave.

Dave levelled up from 375 to level 388, thanks to this quest. And he had yet to drink the potions he received from Ramsha. The Doom Knight ascension is right around the corner. And this gave Dave a lot of hopes in ascending to a more powerful undead form.
Dave inspected all of the information about the quest and its details, smirking Dave said.
"Heh, all I need is a straw hat now!" Dave chuckled.
"Straw hat? I don't get it?" Flanker said.
"Man, you should hang yourself in shame for not getting that reference," Fortress shook his head.
"So, what now?" Mercy asked.
"Well, our job here is done. I don't have any other plans. And most of my quests are impossible to do right now. I still need to level up."
"Oh. Hmm, I think I'll stay in the underworld for a while to level up," Mercy said.
"Yeah, I think I will join in. The third raid zone ahs some good exp areas and I could revive more manticores to add to my army," Dave said.
"We don't have the gate code," Perfect said.
"Yeah, hang on, I still have more scrolls." Dave rummaged through his inventory, and his attention was drawn to an item he bought from Ramsha.
It was a treasure map.
Dave opened the map.

Dave shared the map with his party.
"Treasures! Jewels and diamonds, I'm in!" Lone instantly replied.
"Count me in. I won't miss this." Mercy said with a glint in her eyes.
"Yeah, why not, but how are we going to get there. We need a ship." Flanker pointed out. The mark was way deep into the seas of Conquest's world.
"And I think it's enough playing man. It's way too late right now, and we have been online for a long time," Perfect said.
"You guys are right. I will take care of making the ship. You can log out and have your rest. When the ship is ready, I'll contact you. Mercy, inform Ralph. He will want to come." Dave said.
"Okay," Mercy said.
The players all logged out leaving Dave with Bud, Tiny and the tengu on his manticore.
"Warrior of the Dead. I wish to have my sabre back." The tengu said.
Dave frowned, then he realised that the tengu didn't have his katana on him anymore. Dave had already looted it the day he killed the tengu and never had the time to start the quest related to it.
Dave rummaged through his inventory and pulled out a pitch-black katana.
"My Rift-Maker. Thank you for keeping it safe," the tengu held the sabre piously with both hands.
"Uh, hang on," Dave said.
"What is it, Warrior of the Dead?"
"If you didn't have your katana earlier, how did you split the lake in two?" Dave asked.
The tengu snorted saying, "When you reach perfect harmony with yourself, you may turn a leaf into a sword." The tengu swung his hand vertically, the very wind emitted from his hand movement had split the lake water again.

A question that will take Dave a while to know the truth behind.

The content updates in version 0.39 were numerous. In the coming future, there would be more new content. In order to implement the Open Beta Testing, the gamers of Victoria City and Eternal Kingdom had to cooperate to take over Yggdrasill.
This was what the gamers speculated. If they had Yggdrasill, then the game could implement Open Beta. The Yggdrasill Plot had been triggered by Dragonborn's Strange Encounter Mission.
The gamers didn't know the location of Dragonborn, but they knew it was only a matter of time.
There were many updates, like a new map at Eternal Kingdom for the Unknown Forest. It didn't mean that the forest was called Unknown Forest. The lazy game officials were simply too lazy to give the forest a proper name. The gamers were used to the laziness of the game officials. Most of the names on the maps were given by the gamers, including the various areas in the Dungeon and the Sighing Wilderness, where the Ogre Fortress was located. After discussion, the gamers suggested using Moonlight Forest, but the name was already used by the forest at Victoria City.
The gamers couldn't come up with a good name.
All the Guilds had sent their members to the forest. As such, there were ten Beetlemons that serviced the route between Eternal Kingdom and the Unknown Forest.
If a Beetlemon could only carry 100 gamers, ten Beetlemons could only carry 1,000 gamers. However, there were 5,000 gamers in Eternal Kingdom. There was no consideration for the fact that an Orc's body was much larger than a Gnome. Perhaps a Beetlemon wasn't able to ferry 100 Orcs. Most of the Guild members organized their Darting Birds and formed groups to ferry their members to the entrance of the forest. However, this method wasn't feasible for non-affiliated gamers.
Marco Polo's post had stated clearly that the entrance was pitch dark. It wasn't suitable for Darting Birds to go in, as they would panic in the dark environment. Many gamers complained about the darkness phobia of Darting Birds when the birds were living in the Underworld. The gamers had no choice, as it was a game setting. The end was a steep cliff, and the gamers could climb down, but the Darting Birds were unable to do so. A lone non-affiliated gamer wouldn't know where to put his Darting Bird. 
Marco Polo, who was a lone adventurer, lost his Darting Bird and equipment.
The gamers of Eternal Kingdom couldn't steal each other's rides. If a gamer had a Darting Bird and another gamer killed the owner, the second gamer was unable to take the Darting Bird. Of course, he could choose to kill the Darting Bird.
For opposing factions, the gamers could steal each other's rides. For example, gamers of Victoria City could kill the owners of the Darting Birds and take their rides. 
This fact was confirmed at the Sighing Wilderness.
The Pioneer Alliance organized its members to explore the Unknown Forest. As a 500-member Guild, it organized a group with 300 members, each having a Darting Bird. They also arranged for extra tens of Darting Birds to carry loot and necessities such as tents, lamps, food, and water.
The gamers knew that there was hunger and exhaustion in the game. If the gamers didn't eat and rest sufficiently, their combat power would be greatly diminished. There was even some food that had a special BUFF that increased their agility. That was what the food description said. However, it wasn't clear whether the food was effective. 
Most of the gamers believed the food to be effective, though there wasn't an attribute panel for confirmation. Could the description be used to deceive the gamers? 
After the battle between the Pioneer Alliance and Changan City, the Pioneer Alliance was able to have a sizable force. One reason was that there were more rich gamers in the Pioneer Alliance. The other main reason was that after attacking the two Changan City Strongholds, they pillaged the enemy's resources and captured their high-ranking members.
Arthur didn't want to build a Stronghold in the wilderness to imprison the high-ranking members of Changan City. He found a convenient location to imprison them and got some Guild members to keep watch. He didn't care how long they were imprisoned. Arthur was nonchalant about whether Changan City was willing to spend money to rescue the prisoners.
The imprisonment was a method to tarnish the Guild's reputation and serve as a warning. It wasn't meant to keep them locked up for a long time.
There were 300 Pioneer Alliance members and other allied Guild members that made up the five to six hundred members that set off from Eternal Kingdom towards the Unknown Forest.
The contingent looked like a long Dragon. Under good management of the Guilds, the contingent traveled orderly towards the destination. There was no way unaffiliated gamers could have such an orderly contingent.
As it was a large contingent, the speed wasn't as fast as Marco Polo's traveling speed. The 600-member contingent traveled for half a day before it arrived at the entrance of the Unknown Forest. One hundred of the members went offline for various reasons, but they weren't abandoned. Instead, they were placed on the backs of the Darting Birds or tied to the carts. If they were left on the road, their equipment would be stolen. 
The Darting Birds couldn't be stolen, but if a piece of equipment wasn't Soulbound, it could be stolen.
It was almost night time when they arrived at the entrance of the Unknown Forest. It was also the time when most of the gamers were online. Most of the unaffiliated gamers would choose to take the Beetlemons and go offline to do other stuff. When they got online again, they would have arrived at a Beetlemon stop. Even if the Beetlemon arrived early, their friends would inform them via messaging. Then they would go online immediately and dismount from the Beetlemon. The gamers were safe from attacks and stealing when they were on the Beetlemon.
More gamers were online at night. When Arthur and his members arrived at the Unknown Forest, there was a vast crowd at the narrow tunnel.
It wasn't a good choice to set up camp at the tunnel entrance. Arthur ordered half the members to stay, while the rest of the members escorted the Darting Birds back. They could then return to the Unknown Forest via the Teleport Portal, which would be built shortly.
Arthur and half of his members proceeded into the tunnel to explore the Unknown Forest.
Arthur wasn't worried that the Changan City members would take revenge. As there were many gamers, if the Changan City members attacked, there would be accidental damage to other gamers, who would retaliate immediately. Changan City would have antagonized other Guilds and unaffiliated gamers besides the Pioneer Alliance and its allies. Changan City wouldn't be so foolish as to do that. 
Arthur and his 300 members brought along their essential equipment and entered the tunnel of the Unknown Forest. 
Almost a thousand gamers were jostling in the tunnel. After 30 minutes, they exited the tunnel and arrived at the spacious top of the cliff.
The gamers had to find a way to climb down the cliff, like what Marco Polo encountered.
They walked around but didn't find any tunnels that went down. They could only scale down the steep cliff. Though the constitution of Orcs, Gnomes, and Goblins was pretty good, without proper training and safeguards, it was as good as suicide.
The gamers were multi-talented. They chose a few expert rock-climbers from the 5000 gamers of Eternal Kingdom to scale down the cliff.
Many gamers came forward and revealed their professional rock-climbing experience. They also requested Spider Silk and ropes to create a ladder. It wasn't difficult to overcome this cliff.
The gamers were familiar with the tensile strength of the Spider Silk. Even if tens of Orcs bore weight on the Spider Silk, it would be able to support them.
Once the gamers were united, their efficiency skyrocketed. Before long, they created tens of meters of rope ladder using the contributed Spider Silk.
Then they used wooden stakes and rocks to fix one end of the rope ladder before throwing it down the cliff.
They climbed the rope ladder down in an orderly fashion.
This took quite some time, but there were no other choices. The impatient gamers could choose to climb down by themselves, but those without proper training met with a grotesque end.
Arthur and his members contributed the most Spider Silk, so they had priority in using the ladder. The 300 members spent more than an hour to gather in the forest.
The forest was lit up by faint light, and it looked like a fantasy scene.
The gamers' mission was to make a clearing in the forest so that they could build a Stronghold and a Teleport Portal. Then, Brainiac would activate the Teleport Portal.
When the gamers were scaling the ladder, Brainiac used Mana to float down the cliff. He chose a good location for the teleportation of the Rune Mana Formation's materials. The learned gamers started logging the trees while the other gamers explored the area.
Learning couldn't be forced on the gamers.
Though Arthur was good in his studies, he didn't stay at the Stronghold and log trees. He didn't require any wood, and his improved equipment was at the maximum level.
Arthur didn't want any furniture or need to make Bows or Arrows.
He led 100 members to explore other parts of the Unknown Forest. According to Marco Polo, there were other Orcs. Perhaps, there might be other Strongholds at the far end of the map. Arthur was going for the equipment of those Orcs.
Compared to logging wood, they preferred to obtain the NPCs' equipment.
The size of the Unknown Forest went beyond Arthur's imagination. After exploring for more than two hours, they didn't reach the forest boundary. They didn't find any Strongholds or traces of the Orcs either. 
On the other side of the map, other gamers discovered something and shared their findings on the discussion forum.
It was a Stronghold with a campfire! From the Stronghold size, there were a lot of creatures!
There were hundreds of Orcs and Gnomes patrolling the perimeter. They cleared a large area for defense purposes.
It wasn't clear where they came from. After all, the Underground Forest was so huge that it could be connected to other tunnels. So, they could have come in from other tunnels.
To the gamers of Eternal Kingdom, they were enemies. Even without being antagonized, the gamers saw them as enemies with red names.
The gamers who discovered the Stronghold were small in number. They didn't have the courage to dash in and take a look. They would lose all of their equipment if they died.
They retreated immediately after discovering the Stronghold and shared the information on the discussion forum. The other Guilds learned about this and deployed a group to the enemy Stronghold location.
The Orcs in the enemy Stronghold weren't aware of an impending attack. 


Sherlock is a new generation Dungeon Lord whose ambition is to become the greatest Devil King and building up the greatest Dungeon in the Underworld.
He summons a group of other-worldly goblins who give themselves strange names, form cliques, engage in commerce, and even fight among themselves.
They call themselves—Gamers!

"CoC System integration complete!" 

"Scanning the Host's memory. Ding! Complete!"

"Adding 2 new Functions that are deemed by the System to be the most significant. Ding! Complete!"

"Generating Screen Interface. Ding! Complete!" 

"Scanning World for a suitable Domain. Ding Complete! Ding! All requirements met."

"Command: Generate a 40x40 System Domain Map. Ding! Complete!" 

"Command: Generate Level 1 Town Hall, Generate Level 1 Army Camp, Generate Level 1  Builder's Hut, Generate 1 Level 1 Gold Mine. Generate 1 Level 1 Elixir Collector. Ding! Complete!" 

"Command: Hire 1 Builder. Ding! Complete!"

"Congratulations Host! You may now access the CoC System!"

Cade stood rooted in front of a small house with a bewildered expression. As if he was not convinced enough, he pinched his thigh and slapped his cheeks just to make sure that everything was real! 

"What in the world?!" He nearly screamed out loud. 

He looked back at the small wooden house with a crooked orange roof and stone chimney. He then looked at the grassy area with a fire in the center. Behind the hut, he could also hear a loud snore that echoed repeatedly. On the left of the house, was a gold mine. And on the right was an elixir collector.

The screen window that was hovering in front of him further confirmed his thoughts! 

"So I really have the CoC System!" Cade said to himself. He could only sigh and accept that he really was in a new world. 

"Oh well, since I don't know what is going to happen next, I might as well get moving. Who knows, goblins might really come and attack." With a sigh, Cade went back inside the Town Hall. 

Earlier, he found himself dozed off inside the Town Hall. As for why he was sent here, it was because he died. 
 
He was playing CoC with his phone as he crossed the street when he was suddenly slammed by a speeding truck. When he woke up, he found himself taking a nap on the table. 

Cade was a normal college student on earth. He just started his third year, but who would have thought that he would die in such a tender age of 21. Well, although it was technically not his fault, as he was in a pedestrian lane, his carelessness was still to be blamed. 

He could only imagine his parents and siblings mourning for his death, especially his mother. But right now, Cade had more important things to do. 

Surely, this was a new world, not some online game. And since the game is fantasy-themed, then the probability of this world being a magical place is very high. There could be goblins, orcs, monsters, dragons and many unknown.

Cade played the game for nearly 2 years. He even reached Town Hall Level 11 with all of his buildings maxed. So, of course, he already knew everything about the game like the back of his hand. But right now, he found himself confused if this was really a CoC system. 

Well, there were actually not many changes on the interface, it was the content. 
 
Just like the game, Cade could see an area of 40x40 space. There was the Town Hall, Builder's Hut, the Army Camp, and the Gold Mine. There was also a red dot right on the Town Hall, Cade figured that it indicated his position. 

Since this was not a game anymore, all of those game functions were removed. 

The attack button, the chat button, and all of the online buttons were removed except for the shop, achievements, trophy, setting, and the 2 bars that indicated how much gold and elixir and gems he had. The bar that indicated available Builders was also still there, and besides it was a bar that indicated Residents Limit and not the shield.

Cade then tapped on the Shop button, but when he opened it, he was surprised. (Please take note that the online stuff was removed.)

Instead of only four, it was instead six. 

Army, Resources, Traps, Defenses, Houses (New), and Materials(New).

The problem is, instead of actually being buildings, the shop sold the materials and the blueprint. 

"Interesting," Cade felt that the snoring behind the small house hot louder. "Looks like it is still the same, same content, just different pictures. I just need to buy those materials and the Builder will build it. Thankfully, the prizes are still the same. Well, unfortunately, the Town Hall limiter still applies." Since his town hall was still level 1,  he could only access the thirteen buildings available. But still, he would have to have money to be able to buy them.

Cade suddenly frowned as he thought of a problem, "How the hell am I supposed to earn money if I can't attack other villages?! Will I have to actually wait for the Gold and Elixir mines for my resources?" But after a while of thinking, he concluded that since this is a new world, the people should have a currency of their own. And since this world looked pretty backward, gold and silver should be the current currency the people use. 

No matter where you go, the beauty of Gold always attracts the eyes of anyone.

He tapped on what was tappable and was surprised to find a new function.

"So I can actually buy them separately. That's good, that's good." Cade heaved a sigh of relief when he found out that he could actually purchase the materials and the blueprints separately.

Cade then looked at the 2 new 'products' that were labeled as new, and what he saw surprised him.

The House had all kinds of houses. From a bungalow to the fanciest building. But Cade could not even bother to continue his grand dream after looking at the prices. Although the prices of the blueprints are only 1/4 of the total price, the materials listed were difficult to cough up in this backward world. Well, assuming that it is backward.

Cade then moved on to the Materials, and he was not really surprised by what he saw. The products were pretty simple. Such as woods, stone, and metals. But as he scrolled sideways, Cade was beginning to get surprised. After all, even cement, cloths, papers, plastics, and many more. But what really surprised him was that everything was available, there were no restrictions and all the products were purchasable by gold and elixir. That means he could buy them... if he had money.

"Wow!" Cade exclaimed from ecstasy as he smiled with satisfaction. "With this, I should be able to live my life with ease. But then again, who knows, a villain might come," said Cade jokingly to himself.

"Now, it's about time I begin building." Cade began to tap on the screen. 

With his Level 1 Town Hall, Cade only had 1000 storage space for both of his resources. Thankfully, both were full, and that means that the Gold Mine and Elixir Collector would stop their operation. So right now, he had to buy Gold and Elixir Storage. 

He tapped and bought the Gold Storage to see what happens and when he did, he was redirected to the map. Meaning, he had to choose the location where the storage will be built.

He confirmed it to right beside the Gold Mine and the materials were dumped in that area. Just to make sure, Cade went out to check, and indeed, the materials magically appeared there. 

Suddenly, the snoring from behind the Town Hall that he was ignoring stopped. Then Cade heard footsteps coming towards him. He looked back and saw a man with large blue eyes. An extremely short man with a cheesy smile on his face. As if no matter what happened, that smile would never disappear.

The man wore a yellow-brown aviator hat, a brown sleeveless shirt, and leather-like pants and orange shoes. He also held a stone hammer on his right hand. The man was the Builder, a dwarf.

When the dwarf saw Cade, his smile turned even cheesier and he spoke.

"Boss, I hear you got a job for me?" Contrary to his appearance, his voice was quite husky.

Cade felt weird and shocked seeing the dwarf. He had seen some people with dwarfism, but he never saw some look that way. It was like he was seeing a dwarf One Piece character. 

"Uhh... Ahem... I believe it's that one." Cade pretended to cough before pointing towards the pile of materials right beside the Gold Mine.

The dwarf turned to see the pile and his eyes turned bright. He ignored Cade and walked towards the pile of materials with his hammer. But he stopped when he heard Cade call out.

"Sir, what should I call you?" 

The dwarf turned around and answered, "I am called Thorin."

Han Jing arrived back at his home, taking off his muddy shoes and placing it by the corner of the door. As usual, it was his mother and sister at home—his father was nowhere to be found.
"Han Jing? You're home early?" His mother shifted away from the table, turning to him with a small smile. "What do you have there?"
He moved towards the table, placing his bought items on it and smiled briefly. "Er, just a little something, Mother." 
"You got anything for me?" His sister asked without even getting up from the couch. 
He rolled his eyes, "I got you candy. Anyhow, I'm off to bed." His bed in this case was the one at the edge of the tiny apartment they were in. Plopping down on the mattress, he pulled out his phone and grabbed for his earphones. If there was anything his mother or sister was saying… well he wouldn't hear it anymore.

"Phew, finally." He opened the app, and was led to a loading screen, soft ambient music played in the background as the bold logo displayed itself over the screen.

A white flash filled the entire screen and then changed the display.

Han Jing blinked at the request, typing out the letters to his name but stopped. "My name? Character name?" He frowned and paused for a moment, surely it didn't meant his real name—
[ Han is accepted ]
"Well crap."
He heard a mumble in the background of being careful in his words and he muttered an apology as the screen flickered to the next initialization portion.
A female voice narrated a little background on the game development.
'Races: Online is a collaborative work that connects all of the intelligent lifeforms from across the entire universe into this singular platform. This virtual life simulation is intended to broker peace and harmony across the multiple races. Thank you for your participation!'

A list of starting races displayed themselves over the screen. It was subdivided into multiple boxes and expanded into numerous pages. Han Jing felt his phone heat up, and he bit back a curse. How many were loading?

They couldn't possibly have that many races could they? Then again, this was developed for over a long time so they might have gone a bit crazy with their characterization. He then saw the common ones that you'd see in a fantasy setting.

One of the weakest beings in existence… but also with a lot of potential for growth. They start out with zero affinity to magic and inner energy that needs to be unlocked.

Blessed with a long lifespan and the ability to perform great magical feats. The Elf race is subdivided into numerous types that focuses on a specific type of magic or a preference for a specific terrain. Most often than not, they are highly attuned to their natural environment and are repulsed by the Undead.

With high affinity for craftsmanship and centuries to perfect them, the Dwarven race is a proud race that has produced mighty artifacts and weapons. Quite traditional and loyal to their clans, a Dwarf often finds themselves at odds with their frolicky neighbours.

[ Gnomes ]
One of the Elementals that governs with Earth. The Gnomes are a tight-knit community that is often overshadowed by their larger neighbors but despite that, their powers are certainly not one to underestimate.

Finding their beginnings in the Abyss, the Demons have varying levels of power and influence. The strongest among them will lead the others and often name themselves with titles of prestige of power as Demon Lord, Demon King etc.

Han Jing paused for a moment, now what would he choose? He skimmed over the other pages and found the other races like Orcs, Goblins and other Humanoid Races. He rolled his eyes over a squid-like humanoid called a Chut. Who wanted to be a squid? 
He decided to go with a sub-race of the Elf, a Shadow Elf and clicked for the race.
[ This Race Is Locked ]
"What?" Han Jing frowned. Why would they add it if he couldn't even choose that race variant. He sighed and moved to his next choice but was once again denied.
[ This Race Is Locked ]
His brows knitted as he moved from one race to the next, Dwarf, Goblin, Fae, Halfling, Undine, Siren, Orc, Ogre.... they were all locked. "The hell is this?" He grumbled underneath his breath until he eyed the Race that he hadn't been really choosing.
"They wouldn't give me all of these options just to have this one available can they?" Han Jing pressed the [Human] option and waited for the prompt to deny him the Human or a [ Choose This? ] confirmation popup.
[ Congratulations! Han the [ Human ] has been created! ]
Han Jing was not amused as it took him to the [ Character Design ] portion. The game seemed to have wanted him to choose [ Human ] right from the start! Luckily for the Creators, this designing portion didn't instantly shoved him into the 'Generic Asian' look or forced him to choose it at all.
He messed with the design a bit, tried to make his hair flamingo pink with blue eyes just for the heck of it but ended up choosing an Avatar that looked pretty much like him. Average height and body built along with unruly dark hair.
But he also made his [ Eye Color ] Green, because why not? 
Once he was satisfied, they moved on to the [ World Map ]

Han Jing was the worst kind of gamer. He was the filthy casual, a mobile gamer.

But you couldn't blame him for beta-testing Races: Online. He ended up in server sixty-nine so that was kind of nice right? A bully Demon Lord, a forgetful Elf that ignored their alliances and a mischievous Witch that's up to no good.

It was the time of his life.

Though they all acted like they were all real?!

Thinking about my life, I can't really say that I enjoy it or despise it, but it all change on October 20, 2025. The time of technology was advancing, new source of resources, and a whole new era. So many brilliant minds have changed the course of life itself, from a new way of farming, production of machine, and games. 
One of those brilliant minds is James Maven, he is one of businessmen that own a game develop company. He has made numerous games that really made an impact on gamers of this time. But in his new game, he's making something that is out of his usual method. A VRMMORPG that has an A.I that would generate infinite possibilities. So, when he announces his game at his recent convention,
"thank you everyone for coming at this event. Today, my team are making a new game that will change the way of games. Gale Fantasy Online is a VRMMORPG that has a unique A.I that is program to generate infinite possibilities"
People were getting hype and ready about the game and its unique game mechanics. But then people asked about the release of the game.
"well about the release, it's still in development and still has bugs on the way. But I have a proposition for all of you. Every single one of you in this room will have a chance to play the upcoming beta in the next 2 weeks. Everyone here will get to experience the game itself." 
He has told the core elements of the game and after that he asked everyone to line in front of the picture taking.
"excuse me" a girl raised her hand to ask a question, "what's the reason of this picture taking? I mean you never ask us that before."
"well there actually two reasons for this, the first reason, is the save this memory of this event and at least to have something to remember. The second reason is to identify the people that participate in this event to serve as pass in the beta. The beta is not going to be in a downloadable links like usual game beta, it will be held in the company's headquarters"
When I heard it was held at the company's headquarters, I was ecstatic and honored to be in the core of one of the biggest game development company in the world. It felt like getting an invite to Mr. James' mansion. We took the picture and then he asked to take a picture of him one by one. The convention holds from 100 to 300 of people since it was only given to those who have been influencing the company brand.
Well since I'm a pro gamer and I post my game play online; I can say that I've influence James' company. When the picture taking was done, he gave us the pass-code to enter the company's headquarters. He thanked us for attending and we all left.
The event went trending after 2 hours. it's look like someone already made a video about the event and got deleted instantly because of leaking classified information, they told us to keep the event a secret and if we ever leak it, we would be ban to the beta testing and any related events. They already caught 3 people leaking about the beta testing and was instantly banned from the beta testing.
Well I keep my promise to keep it a secret. My classmate budge but I just ignore them, since there were 5 students including me that was part in the beta testing, so we team up and instantly became friends. One day before the beta testing, we decided to together.
"Ugh where are they?" I was getting annoyed since we planned to meet at the school entrance to go at the mall.
"hey! Michi! Over here!" a familiar voice was coming across the street. It was May calling me.
"Hey! I thought we would meet at the entrance. What happened?"
"Sorry Michi, Alvin went home, because he left his money at his room, so he went to grab it really quick. In the meantime, he told us to wait at the café and told us to tell you. I'm sorry" May apologized.
"Its fine let's go; I could use some coffee after a long day." 
We went at the café and mark and Sandra are arguing about something,
"what's your proof that caramel is better than chocolate, Sandra"
"its more delicious and more addicting, that's all"
"well your proof is lacking"
A waiter notice that we were staring, he then approaches us,
"Excuse me ladies but do you know those two?" the waiter asked
"Yes, why?" may answered
"well, they have been arguing from the past hour and they're scaring some costumers, can you please stop them; it would be appreciated"
"oh sure! I'll stop them" I went to them, grab their ears and said in an irritated voice,
"If you two keep this up, I will destroy you into a million pieces and collect those pieces and burn it into ashes" Mark and Sandra froze, "so are you two done?"
"YES MICHI, PLEASE DON'T HURT US" Mark and Sandra replied in a terrified tone.
I ask them to get us a table and they hurried to find one
May laughed, "Bahahaha you can be scary sometimes, Michi"
"Well, I learned it when my bullies tried to annoy me, and now those bullies don't mess went with me"
Me and May chuckled for a while and we ordered coffee, we sat on the table that Mark and Sandra reserved for us.
"thanks for saving us a table" 
"no problem; just don't do that again; its scary" Mark and Sandra replied, still looked scarred.
"Bahahaha, no promises on that" I laughed
After a while, Alvin arrived, and we headed out to the mall. When we arrive, Me and May went to the clothing stores while the rest just went to the gaming stores. I wanted to buy something new for the beta testing. May thought of the same thing so we helped each other out. May suggest that I buy a crop top.
"well, I don't know; I seem it would make my chest somewhat visible from the bottom"
May looked at me, "um if you don't mind me asking, what cup size are you?"
I was surprised at first, but I answered," um I'm a C, why?"
"hmm, well I have an idea" May started to find something "ahh try this one"
It was just a t-shirt, I wanted to try something new, but I guess I'll trust May on this one
"um ok, I'll try it" I went to the dressing room and tried it on. After I was done, I've shown it to May.
"Well?" May looked for a second "hold on" she turned the t-shirt like a crop top. "so, do you like it Michi?"
"hmmm, perfect!"  I picked the t-shirt and helped May on her clothes, in the end, she decided to buy the crop top.
"so, you really like the crop top?"
"well I'm just a size B, its perfect for crop tops"
"well I can't argue with that; come on, let's meet up with them" we bought the clothes and headed out to the gaming store.
When we arrive, Mark and Sandra were arguing again, so I did my usual move and we headed to the food court. We bought some food and sat on a table
"Michi, when are you going to stop threatening us like that"
"hmm, maybe when you two stopped fighting and we both know that's isn't going to happened"
"Bahahaha yeah, Michi's right, you two just keep on fighting" May laughed
Alvin, looking like he doesn't know what's going on, said, "hey tomorrow's the day; you guys already decide on your character?"
"um Me and May is just an idea, but Mark and Sandra already decided on something"
"yeah! When we got the news that there are 10 starting classes, I already know what I'm going to be" 
Me and May couldn't understand that classes, so I asked, 
"so, what's the difference skills about the classes?"
"here, I'll send to you the unique skills to different classes" Alvin copied his chart and send it to me.
"thanks Alvin, ok let's see" 
After looking through it, I manage to understand the different classes.
"so, what I understand, there 5 types of core elements to the specific classes, since I'm more like a speedy type of player, I guess I'll go with dual wielder"
May though about her class, "maybe I'll be a magi knight since it's a knight that can use magic" 
"Well I, Mark, has chosen to be a swordsman" mark, posing like an idiot
"Well I'm going to be element maker, magic suits me better anyways" Sandra feeling humble about her class.
"Well I'm going to be an assassin" Alvin's choice was like his personality, cold.
It was getting dark so we went home and get some rest. Tomorrow is the day, the day that we get to experience something great… or so I thought.

Life on campus is exciting, even for a video game nerd. I entered college to get a degree. I want to get a good job and make my parents proud. My biggest obstacle is Todd.
 Todd is the jock that has been my best friend since almost birth. We grew up two houses from each other. Todd did move when we were 12. It didn't change things much. We just rode our bikes more. Puberty threatened our friendship a little, but a bully cornering me changed that. Todd got suspended for breaking the bully's nose. It was the only time.
  Todd is a jock. Unlike most jocks, he is super intelligent. Since I tried so hard to get perfect grades, Todd studied with me. Todd was offered a few scholarships for football, and he chose the one to state, where I was going. Most people did not know that Todd was working on a degree in accounting.
  Since I helped Todd study, he made it his mission to get me buff. We spent hours every day in the gym. I did go from 147 pounds to 188. I will never be a bodybuilder. Even though I will never set a record in weight lifting, I can run forever.

  Todd has been invited to almost every party since we walked on campus. Early on, people learned that Todd would not show up if I was not invited. Good thing for me, is that girls that gave up on reaching Todd, sometimes settled for me.
  One girl, Kim, after spending a party talking to me about video games, became an online game buddy. Kim was not very attractive, but neither am I. I asked her on a date once, but she turned me down. When I got home, there was an invite waiting to join a game tournament. Turns out, Kim preferred online relationships over real life.
  Between parties, games and the gym, I found time to get all the credits to earn my degree in electrical engineering. Todd finished his degree and even had to turn down pressure to join the draft to play football. He plans on joining my mom's old firm.

  Finals week ends. Books are returned. Plans of the future cloud everyone's head.
  
  My parents call to let me know they will be arriving at any time. They want to be here a few days early, since Todd and I are leaving the day after graduation for a Mediterranean cruise. Mom and dad split the tickets with Todd's aunt.
  Mom and dad have considered Todd a member of our family since his folks died in a drunk driving accident. Mom was depressed after finding out that she would not be able to have any more children after me. When the news arrived about the wreck, mom decided that Todd and I were enough.

  "You coming to Stephanie's party?" Todd is in the hall bathroom. For the third time this hour, he is checking his hair. Since he and Stephanie have been getting closer, he has started to primp.
     Like normal, I am in front of the television in the front room. The latest fantasy game is on the screen "If I have time after dinner. Mom said they will be here any minute. I do want to talk to Kim about a new level I unlocked. She will want to clear it with me. We can make it a date night."
  "Oh crap, I almost forgot. Can you call Stephanie and let her know I might be late? I am not going to miss steak. Dad must always go to the steak house down on the county road. And also, eww. You two and your games. You spend too much time looking at your phones or computer screens. You need to look at each other."
  I shake my head. "Not everyone feels the need to be seen in public. We enjoy our time together online. She did recently agree to marry me in Mage: Scorched Battlefield. We are planning a wedding during the mid-summer fire bug celebration. You should create an account and join."
  Todd laughs, "I'll show up when you decide to marry her in real life. You had better save soon. Dad will give you the evil eye if he has to wait for steak because of a game."
  "To true." I watch the cut scene. Beautiful, half-dressed elf women are being chained by the evil demon. As their pitiful cries come from the TV, I imagine Kim in those costumes. I swoop in to save the day, earning a kiss. A smile starts to worm its way across my face.
  A knock at the door brings me back to reality. "Todd get that, I am almost done."
  Todd opens the door, and hugs mom. "Jon is coming. You know him, he is saving his game. At least in this one, he is not trying to marry anyone."
  Mom shakes her head. "Honey, hurry up. Dad is getting a headache. We want to get to the hotel so he can soak in the hot tub."
  "You just want some hot time, you can't fool us." Todd is the only person I know that can say anything even remotely dirty and mom just laughs. When he was younger, Todd would tell mom that he was going to marry her when dad ran off with a younger woman. Dad would make it worse by making a show of deciding who to run off with.

  My game finally saves, and I shut it off. I slip my shoes on and join everyone in the foyer. I hug mom. "Did you try a new hairstyle just to come here?"
  "Dad has been on me to try something new for a while. Do you like it?" She poses, hand patting her hair.
  "Sure, I..." My voice trails off, as Todd flies past me. A look of terror on his face.
  A thump comes from my right. "Call 9-1-1!" Todd's voice reaches me before I can comprehend what just happened. I turn to see dad on the floor, drool coming from his mouth. His eyes are glazed.
  Mom, who has always been good in pressure situations, stands stunned. The sight of her husband on the floor is too much.
  
  We never make the call. Todd carries dad to the car, and I drive like a demon. Todd and I received our CPR certifications our sophomore year. The eighteen mile drive takes fifteen minutes. Todd keeps the rhythm until the nurses take dad from the car,
  Paperwork in the hospital takes forever. Between three of us, we complete all the forms. We join the others filling the waiting room. There are only four empty chairs. I overhear two paramedics discussing an alcohol involved accident. It is not a good night for many people. This is an all too familiar scene around campus.
  No words are heard from any of the waiting families. The only sound is from a television hanging in the corner, Excited people talking about how the renovations to their house will improve the worth of the house.

  Kim calls to find out where me and Todd are. I fill her in on the situation, and she promises to let all our friends know what is happening.  
  A couple are led back to see their daughter. She is lucky, a broken arm is all she suffered in a car wreck. Hopefully this will teach her not to drink.
  An hour passes slowly. Todd is trying to convince mom to return the cruise tickets. He has decided to return home to help take care of dad. Mom looks to me for help, I agree with Todd. Mom and dad are more important than half dressed women.
  A nurse finally calls dad's name. Only one person is allowed at a time, so we have mom go. We cheerfully encourage her to go back.
  Dad is not expected to last until morning. The heart attack was too strong. The doctor thinks that there might have already been damage from long ago.
  "You go check on dad, I am gonna go feed my nasty habit." Todd has been a smoker since he dated one in high school.
  Mom wrinkles her nose as she hugs Todd. "I'll be out soon, so you can say goodbye." I hug her and turn to follow Todd.

  When we arrived, we saw a smoking area, not too far from the entrance. It has gotten dark while we sat. Todd flops down and pulls a cigarette from the crushed package. Sighing, he lights it and pulls a long drag. The sky is clear. I see the lights from an airplane blink. Even a beautiful night like tonight cannot change the hollow felling in my chest.
  Todd breaks the silence. "If anyone could come back from that, it would be dad."
  "He is the most stubborn man on the planet. We will probably end up taking him home in the morning. We will want to stop for waffles. Every time we go anywhere, he must get waffles. Even when I got him a waffle maker for Christmas that time, he still only wants them on vacation."
  "Jon, you know I have been planning to move to Cincinnati in the fall. I could find a job closer. You and mom will need help." Todd had been offered a real good paying job by mom's former firm. After much discussion, we decided that it was too good of an opportunity to pass up.
  "No, you need to go. We will be fine.  Dad always told us that we should always follow our dreams. Mom and dad would both be upset if you didn't go."
  "If worse comes to worse, you and mom can always move in with me." Naturally Todd is willing to inconvenience himself to help. He has always been this way.
  "Like just want mom to move in. You have always had a crush." I nudge Todd playfully.
  "You know it." He looks down. "Just not this way. Jon, you know that he has always been my hero."

  I suddenly become aware that the sounds of the nearby highway have disappeared. I strain to hear anything, not even the night insects are making any noise. Todd meets my eye, "Where did everything go?" There is a hint of panic in my voice.
  The distance begins to grow between me and Todd. Todd reaches for my outstretched hand. As he grabs me, I see that the sky has lightened. Is it already morning? Then everything goes black.

Me and my best freind were called to another world. Todd is the hero. I am his porter.
 He can be the hero. I don't want to.

Except for the parts that hackers could change and overwrite, the virtual reality world in 'The Matrix' had everything that a real world could have. Even if some people knew that it was all fake, their bodies still would think that it was real subconsciously.

On the screen, hellfire flew around while lava flowed in from all directions. One could even feel the extremely high temperature through the screen.
