Lin Yuehao was arrogant himself, so he didn't think that it was a big deal at all. He promised directly that he would handle it within two days.

The last class was the head teacher's class. Isaiah had asked for early leave and so did Gu Ning. Zhang Qiuhua said they could so they left earlier.

Isaiah had left and headed to the mall where he bought a few pieces of clothing. He also bought a hamster.

When he got home he was greeted by Xueyun who was lazing about on the sofa. He smiled and laid his head on her lap while she still looked forward to the tv drama. But buy instinct she had already brought he hand to his hair and stroked it.

Isaiah' Damn are these hands of hers magical. Mhh, looks like her cultivation is coming along. She should be as strong as me when I was around 7.'

Isaiah looked at Xueyun for a brief second before standing up. Now that he new fictional world's existed he wanted to take Xueyun to a specific world.

He also wanted to take fen but he didn't know if something would happen to him. He had already tested it out with another human. So he knew he could take Xueyun but fen was a mystery.

He went downstairs with the hamster he bought and teleported into his bedroom in the tower of god on the second floor.

Isaiah quickly checked on the hamster to see if she was alright. He breathed a sigh of relief seeing the thing was alright.

Teleporting back he smiled and looked at the little female albino hamster.' Mhh, I'll name you strawberry.'

Isaiah went back upstairs and put strawberry down. 

Xueyun" Isaiah I'm hungry. Can you make something."

Isaiah" How about going out and eating. I know a place with food that's out of this world."

Xueyun" Really, let's go there then."

Isaiah" But first was going to have to change into something more appropriate."

Xueyun was confused and Isaiah just smiled mysteriously.

30 minutes later Isaiah was downstairs waiting for Xueyun to get dressed. Right now he was wearing some tight beige trousers with a brown long sleeve shirt. Some lether armour and a huge six-foot-long buster sword on his back. He also wore a tattered old brown hood.

As he waited footsteps could be heard from the stairs. As he looked towards Xueyun he couldn't help but gasp in amazement. It was just like the first time he saw her. She was wearing a traditional Chinese Hanfu. It was while it red and black lines on the inner cloth and cuffs.

She also wore a white veil that covered her face and only showed her eyes. But even if the only thing you could see were her eyes and hands she would still make heads turn. 

Not to even mention how the hanfu complimented her already mystifying figure.

Xueyun" what do you think." She smiled looking at his gawking. She knew she looked beautiful, but it was nice to always hear it from the one she loved.

Isaiah" Stunning, I almost forgot to breathe."

Fenrir" Whoool."

Xueyun" Giggle, thank you Fenrir and you also look handsome. Shall we go then."

Isaiah" M lady." He said bowing while holding out his hand. Xueyun took his hand and also did a courtesy bow.

With a smile, Isaiah teleported with Xueyun and Fen to their dining destination.

This was a fantasy land where giant dragons, demons, orcs, elves, dwarves, humans, and many others lived together.

A hundred years ago, all the species on the Norland Continent signed an armistice, putting an end to the war among all species that lasted for a thousand years. Therefore, all of them got a chance to rest and recover in their respective lands.

However, a thousand-year-long conflict could not be settled once and for all with just a piece of paper; regional conflicts continued but were normally kept to the border areas as if secretly agreed upon. No large-scale war among different species was waged.

Isaiah" This is the Norland Continent. Where in chaos city where one of the best restaurants are. You might even get addicted to the food here. Now let's go."

They both disappeared. Isaiah couldn't be bothered with the guards so he teleported right into the city.

In a corner of Aden Square, there was a restaurant called Mamy Restaurant. Normally there would be two lines of customers waiting to get in and taste Mr mags delicious food. Sadly a few idiots ruined that by attacking the restaurant.

Goodenia" Over there!" Goodenia called out through gritted teeth in a carriage.


Two carriages pulled over in front of Mag's restaurant. Goodenia and Devoe jumped off the first one; a young magic caster in a black robe and a young knight in silver armour with a sword came out of the other.

Mamy Restaurant? Devoe thought, narrowing his eyes. I don't come here often, but I don't remember ever seeing such a fancy restaurant here.

The metallic signboard was gleaming in the sun; the door was made of rosewood with a delicate handle.

What amazed Devoe the most was the crystal glass window. The skills, time, and money that went into making this flawless piece of crystal glass must have been unbelievable. It's worth at least thousands of dragon coins, I think.

Johnnie walked up to the door and saw the notice. "I don't think anyone is in, Boss. The door is locked."

Devoe laughed. "We should teach him a lesson. Slash that door to pieces!" he said, pointing.

"Fine," Gabriel replied, disappointed. He slid his sword out of its scabbard and slashed at the door.

A 3rd-tier knight's slash was enough to cut down a big tree.

Goodenia looked very excited. He had thought about taking vengeance, but he was a coward. He was very glad someone would avenge him.

And Devoe was doing a great job—he knew just how far to go without getting themselves in trouble. 

Things like this were pretty common in Chaos City, and the Gray Temple had more urgent matters to attend to, so the owners of those shops had to grin and bear it more often than not.

There will be a few chinease novels but the main one will centre around Reincarnation Of The Businesswoman At School. So there will be similar dialog. But not everything will be just copy and paste.

"Insolent!" Qi Bahe sternly rebuked. "As the prince, what fault does Lao-san have? In my opinion, that woman must've been wanton. A fly doesn't bite uncracked eggs and if it weren't for her loose behavior, why would Lao-san even look at her?"
In Qi Bahe's eyes, when a man took fancy to a woman, it was all because of the woman's wanton ways. Otherwise, why didn't the third prince molest others but only insisted on taking advantage of her?

[1] Lao san is referring to the third prince. It is a way of address for family members to call each other. Likewise, Lao'er would be the second prince.

November arrived with a smiling, sunny face; the clouds that passed overhead were innocent little fluffy things. Over breakfast, Harry agreed with me it was the perfect day to hit the city. We made no specific plans as to what we would do once we got there: getting off that island and spending some time elsewhere was what we wanted. I definitely abandoned any idea of spending the winter on the island; by the time spring rolled around, I'd be ready to be packed off into a loony bin. 

 

 

 

Of course, I remained very aware of my Wanted status. I discussed it with Harry, and he thought I ran no risk of being recognized as the last hitchhiker Peter Schmidt had ever picked up. I wasn't quite so sure, in spite of my new hairstyle (which I hated) and my new outdoor jacket (which I liked, in spite of that stupid anchor stitched on its breast). But I really needed to get off that island for a little while, even if that carried a slight risk. 

 

 

 

I also wanted to call Roch, very badly. I even thought about calling my parents. My emotions had completely changed overnight. The previous evening, it felt as if it didn't matter whether my friends and family lived or died. Twelve hours later, I missed everyone so badly just thinking about them brought a lump into my throat. 

 

 

 

It was surprisingly warm outside; my breath hardly steamed at all. Harry and I weren't the only ones appreciating the weather: there were a several sailboats mucking around in the bay, although it was the middle of the week. We passed pretty close to one of them on the run to Lion's Bay. It was a small white job crewed by a single guy with plentiful black hair spilling out from under one of those silly sailor caps, small and round and white. He had a full beard and when he grinned at us as we passed by, his teeth were very white too. Harry waved to him and he waved back in a way that implied familiarity. 

 

 

 

"Who was that? You know him?" I asked Harry, watching the sailboat bob as it sailed across our wake. 

 

"Yeah, I know him. I know him well. Couple of years back, we went into a little operation together. He's got a bit of land and we got a nice field of prime pot going on his property. It promised to be excellent bud, man. But that guy, he fucked it all up just as it was about ready for harvesting." 

 

"What did he do?" 

 

"He dropped some acid and had this idea he'll make the buds taste extra sweet by smearing some honey on the colas. So he spent like a whole afternoon wandering around with a jar of honey in his hand, dabbing it on the flowers. It involved lugging a stepladder around, that's how determined he was. Anyway, he was woken up in the middle of the night by a bear stoned out of its gourd, thrashing around in the pot field and roaring its head off. Just a couple of plants survived, man. That bear really did a job on our pot." 

 

"What happened to the bear?" 

 

"Who the fuck knows. It was gone by the morning. Probably went into a cave somewhere to sleep it off." 

 

"I'm not sure it could sleep, being that high." 

 

"Now look who we have here. An expert on stoned bears." 

 

"I once got a hamster stoned. A friend had this pet hamster and we put some hash oil onto a piece of apple. We thought it might be turned off by the smell but man, it just gobbled that apple up in no time at all." 

 

"What did it do? Sung an aria, or maybe sat down to write a novel?" 

 

"It had this treadmill wheel in its cage. It got going on it as if it was competing in the Olympics or something. It had a hell of a time. My friend said he'd never seen that hamster so happy." 

 

"Did he teach it how to smoke a joint?" 

 

"He said he'd try, but I think nothing came of that." 

 

"Figures. It's kinda hard to smoke a joint when you're running on a treadmill. Anyway, pal, I think that hardly qualifies you as an expert on stoned bears." 

 

"Well, you said yourself it spent the night thrashing around in the pot field. I don't think it would just go off and lie down and fall asleep." 

 

 

 

We discussed stoned bears for the rest of the run into Lion's Bay. When we docked, Harry went off to talk to the guys running the marina shop: it was open. I stood on the pier smoking and looking at the bay and the boats and the sky. I had the thought that it was pretty amazing that Harry was a cop's son. He seemed to be the most laid-back person in the world, and had apparently become a pot plantator the moment he could walk. 

 

 

 

I was reminded of a guy I'd known in school when I was living in Italy. His parents were doctors and he was the dirtiest guy I'd ever met. I once saw him drop a lollipop on the ground and pick it up with all sorts of stuff stuck on it and resume licking it, just like that. I'd also seen him retrieve chewing gum stuck under his desk by God knows who and when, and pop it into his mouth and start chewing with bliss all over his stupid face. He really was a moron, he flunked almost every test and yet his parents were doctors, intelligent people who'd presumably taught him the rudiments of personal hygiene. You never really knew how people would turn out, not even when they shared most of your genes. 

 

 

 

It struck me that maybe my parents were similarly surprised by the way I'd turned out. Josh didn't exactly fit their idea of a perfect son, either. I knew they wanted us to become professional men, doctors or lawyers or university professors; I suspected my father had a secret dream one of us might become a professional diplomat. Not a politician; my father disliked and mistrusted politicians. Once I overheard him telling someone at a barbecue that diplomats lied when they had to, but politicians lied whenever they felt like it. 

 

 

 

Harry spent quite bit of time inside that shop, I was on my third cigarette when I saw him walk out and give me a wave. The car was parked behind the shop, as usual, and when I was getting in it struck me that the first time I went to the island with Harry, his boat was at Brunswick Beach, not at the marina. I asked him about that as soon as we drove away. 

 

"Hey, you're a sneaky one," he said. "You sure you aren't working undercover for the cops? Whatever. Remember those three American chicks I was with when we first met? They'd been staying with me at the house. I didn't want the guys at the marina watch me come in with a boatful of chicks, man. It would have excited comment. Anyway, I've got to drop by my Mom's place. You want me to drop you off anywhere in particular before that?" 

 

"The post office," I said. "I have to make a couple of long-distance calls." 

 

"I'll take you to the post office on Abbott. They've got plenty of phone booths and when you're done, it's a nice area to wander around. Lots of bars." 

 

"Are we going back to the island tonight?" 

 

"I don't know. We'll have to wait and see. Maybe we'll drop by Gina's place in the evening. She'd already agreed to let you sleep on the couch once, so that won't be problem." 

 

 

 

In the end, we agreed that Harry would pick me up at the post office around six. That gave me almost five hours to make my calls, and get acquainted with a nearby bar. I watched him drive away and speculated whether I shouldn't hit that bar first, before calling Roch. But when I checked the time I realized it was after three o'clock in Montreal. I had to hurry to make sure I'd still catch him at his aunt's house. 

 

 

 

I went into the post office and placed a call and it came through very fast, I was on the phone within a minute. But there was no one at the other end. I waited and waited, and eventually the operator cut in and asked me if I wanted to continue. I said no and hung up and left the booth feeling pretty deflated. 

 

 

 

Of course he wasn't there! It had been over a month. He'd probably done everything he had to do at that house, didn't work there any longer. I had my address book with me, so I could try calling his parents' house to find out what he was up to. But it was too early for that, his parents would be out and I didn't fancy talking to his pimply sister. 

 

 

 

I left the post office and stood by the entrance smoking a cigarette and thinking about calling my own parents. But I just couldn't face talking to them, anyway I was sure I'd get an earful for what I'd done, chucking my studies and disappearing like that. They'd probably start shouting at me to come home while they arranged for an emergency lobotomy procedure or something. 

 

 

 

So in the end, I wrote them a letter. I found a shop and bought a cheap stationery set and went inside the first bar I came across. I got myself a Molson Canadian, because that was the cheapest beer they had and it definitely tasted the way a cheapest beer should. I ended up buying a packet of peanuts to kill that taste, so it didn't exactly work out cheap. I also had to get a double scotch before I could get that letter going. Writing letters was a hell of an expensive business. 

 

 

 

The scotch worked: it provided me with a good lie. I wrote my parents that I'd actually sold a couple of pieces for money good enough to live on for a month. I told them that I was in Vancouver to sign a contract with an art gallery, but that I'd be leaving shortly. I didn't tell them where I'd be going next, but promised to be in touch soon. 

 

 

 

After drinking another double scotch I managed to end my letter with the groveling I knew my parents wanted and expected. There had been so much happening that I lost my head (this was true). I had been going crazy with painting and drawing and running around, talking to people who were interested in my work (partly true). I had already made more money than I did in a month of slaving away in my two part-time jobs back in Toronto (that was a total lie). I concluded by repeating that I would be in touch, assured them I was theirs forever, and included best wishes for Josh. I was amazed to find that it all sounded very sincere when I read it before signing off. 

 

 

 

I folded the sheet and put it in the envelope and put away the writing stuff into the side pocket of my new outdoor jacket from Canadian Tire. The side pockets of that jacket were big enough to accommodate supplies and tools needed for serious outdoor stuff. They were deep enough to hold a quart each, no problem at all. I really liked my new jacket. 

 

 

 

I lit what I planned to be my final cigarette before going back to the post office and tipped the last of the peanuts onto my hand and threw them in my mouth and almost choked on one, because I saw Jane: Dick's boat companion. 

 

 

 

She must have just come in with another girl, she was in the act off pulling off a glove as she talked to her friend in that special animated way people have when they're looking forward to having a good chinwag over drinks. They were standing by the bar counter, both dressed in long leather coats: Jane's was black, her friend's burgundy. Jane had one of those long scarves that resemble priests' stoles, and she threw one end over her shoulder while glancing in my direction. 

 

 

 

I fucking froze. But her eyes swept past me without any sign of recognition, and she resumed talking to her friend. I watched them out of the corner of my eye as they got their drinks and went to sit down at one of the small round tables by the wall. They were drinking cocktails. 

 

 

 

Jane sat down facing away from me, and I took that opportunity to finish off my beer and leave. It was good that I did. The first person I saw upon exiting was Dicky. He was headed right for the entrance of the bar, looking deeply pissed off. He wearing the familiar peacoat and beanie and his hands were thrust deep into the coat's pockets. Whatever pissed him off this time must have been a real weight on his mind, because he didn't recognize me. He didn't even notice me, even though we almost brushed shoulders as we passed. 

 

 

 

I went back inside the post office: it seemed the safest bet in the circumstances. I got a stamp and posted the letter to my parents, and my paranoid pal sprang into action. He was delighted with what had just happened, and joyfully informed me my parents would spend no time at all in asking Vancouver police to keep a special eye out for their wayward son. There would be an undercover cop lurking at every art gallery in Vancouver, waiting to snatch me the moment I showed up. 

 

 

 

Within a few minutes, I was fully convinced that trying to contact Roch would be a mistake. He was probably already behind bars. There would be a cop waiting by the phone over there, the call would be instantly traced, by the time I found out that Roch was unavailable there would be sirens in the street outside. I left the post office and walked around the block smoking like a madman, and then went back in again and placed another call to his aunt's house. 

 

 

 

It went through almost as quickly as the first one. I heard the phone in Montreal ring once, twice, thrice. And then I heard the receiver being picked up, and someone breathing into the microphone. I had a very good connection, there were no background hums or crackles. Someone was breathing down the phone at the other end without saying a word. My paranoid pal smiled, and said: what did I tell you. 

 

 

 

I opened my mouth a couple of times and closed it without a sound. Then I hung up as delicately as I could. 



On the 10th of August, 1972, almost exactly ten months after my eighteenth birthday, I left my home and cut all ties with my family. This is the story of what happened next: to me, to people I knew, and to the world.

NOTE: All of the characters in this story are fictitious; however, many of the events described really took place. One of these, the  Montreal Museum of Fine Arts robbery in 1972, was the greatest theft of art in Canadian history.
It remains an unsolved mystery to this day, and is the first of many historical events that will involve the hero of this story.

Logan halted everybody in the middles of the bamboo forest, asking Jaivva if she studied the dispel spell. She walked past him, clearly seeing the reality. a simple weave of hand seals, followed by a clap, dispelled the illusion.


The natural beauty of green bamboo was now filled with green snakes ready to snap if anybody got too close. A tiled pathway led to an earth shrine with an oversized monkey on top.


"Why have you come?" asked the monkey.


"Oh, so we have to talk to him to get the animal spirits?" asked Jaivva.


The monkey hissed towards them until Logan came in its way.


"We come to make a pact for Jaivva and Vanessa. That's all," said Logan, calming the beastly monkey.


Mimi called out to the two girls, "Hey, yall two need to be careful what you say here. Let Logan do the talking".


"What pact must you seek?" asked the monkey.


Logan first turned towards Jaivva, "What animal do you want as your spirit animal"?


In a high-pitched voice, Jaivva responded, "I didn't know we could pick. Oh my God. Let me think".


"Vanessa, what about you?" asked Logan.


Vanessa twirled her hair and looked in every direction except Logan. Her oblivious behavior amused everybody except Jaivva who wasn't paying attention.


"Take your time girl," said Kiki.


Logan shouted, "Noooo! Let's get this going. How about a feral cat? I know you love cats".


"I dooo," said Vanessa, "Buuuuuu-".


"Okay, so I'm stuck between a dog and a panda," said Jaivva.


"How about a bear," suggested Logan, "They're pretty strong and durable. It would really balance your skills".


"I don't want a bear though. I want a panda," said Jaivva.


Kiki pointed out there were enough dogs in the community. It would be nice having a panda around. The deal was sealed and Jaivva wanted a Panda. Logan bickered that it wasn't sensible to exclude herself from the rest of the bears.

Vanessa stared up with a finger on her lips and said, "I mean, I do like cats".


Dani budded in, "I mean, it's okay if you want to be a cat. I'm a cougar and Mimi is a tiger. But, what do you really want"?


Arguing with Jaivva ended with Logan requesting the panda trials for her. The monkey beast began evaluating her. Shaking from the unexpected evaluation, Jaivva jumped when the monkey approved her for the panda trials. 


After giving a thumbs up, Logan looked towards Vanessa. She was fighting a forceful smile. Logan wished for a decent answer. But God the look on her face was that of a mentally ill. Cheeks reddened as though she was naked in front of the isekai community.


He dared to ask after a sigh, "Vanessa. Please tell me your answer".


Her lips moved without sound. It could've been that she needed to use the bathroom when her body squirmed. Logan knew she was just as weird as he was. But damn was she being extra at this moment. He questioned her a few times over, noticing the other three girls were also giggling.


"Dear God," he said, "It better not be anything stupid like a uni-".



Vanessa cleared her throat and stood straight upright to say, "A hamster".


Logan froze in thought, "A unicorn would've been better. At least they had flight and strength".


Before he could argue, Vanessa affirmed her decision with the monkey itself. Logan panicked for her not to choose such a worthless animal, asking why she would choose a hamster pact for battle? 

"They are so cccuute," said Vanessa hugging her clasped hands. 

As the beast approved her for the pact, Logan yelled in denial of a hamster being her spirit animal. 

"You must bring along at least three friends," friends said the beast. 


Vanessa looked over at her three girlfriends ready to run into hamster battles with her. She further taunted Logan if he was going to come to help his teammate obtain her spirit animal. After all, the monkey never said a limit to how many friends must come. 


The pain in Logan's ass grew to a migraine caused only by his ego to reject certain animals as being worthy. He stepped alongside Vanessa towards their trial area. 


"Wait, what about me?" asked Jaivva, "Do I get help". 



"No," said Logan, "Most pacts don't require help. I never got help from mine". 


Before anybody took a step, the monkey slapped its legs and clapped its hands. A tingling change was felt in everybody. 


"Oh, I completely forgot there were typically limitations. What are they?" asked Mimi. 


The monkey explained that Jaivva will no longer have access to magic for the trial period. Vanessa and her crew will have greatly reduced physical and magical ability. She turned towards her team to assure them that it was okay because they had each other. 



Jaivva gave a heavy sigh before walking off into the bamboo forest alone. Getting deep, she found a set of panda tracks that excited her into running through the bamboo.

Meanwhile, Vanessa led her team towards a mountain in a normal forest. Nothing appeared odd at first. At least until Logan began cursing. The mountain got closer at a rapid rate. It was much larger than it appeared from afar. The girls were debating on whether the mountain grew or something. 


"We shrunk," said Logan. 

They each took a look at the bamboo around them, noticing the increase in size. Vanessa began touching the bamboo out of excitement of being shrunken to the size of a hamster. Not a second went by that Logan didn't remind her of the dangers of being small. Except, they weren't small, but rather "smol" in the words of Vanessa. 


Her giggling ended when a skitterish cry rang their ears. Pleas came from the team to shut it up. However, Vanessa was concerned with protecting the scared creature. She looked around, spotting a baby hamster running for its life. 

Dani fired at the large fox chasing it, but her gun did nearly no damage. Her second shot struck the fox's head, gaining its attention. 





Is sad for not having a snack costume.

Logan halted everybody in the middles of the bamboo forest, asking Jaivva if she studied the dispel spell. She walked past him, clearly seeing the reality. a simple weave of hand seals, followed by a clap, dispelled the illusion. 

The natural beauty of green bamboo was now filled with green snakes ready to snap if anybody got too close. A tiled pathway led to an earth shrine with an oversized monkey on top. 

"Why have you come?" asked the monkey. 

"Oh, so we have to talk to him to get the animal spirits?" asked Jaivva. 

The monkey hissed towards them until Logan came in its way. 

"We come to make a pact for Jaivva and Vanessa. That's all," said Logan, calming the beastly monkey. 

Mimi called out to the two girls, "Hey, yall two need to be careful what you say here. Let Logan do the talking". 

"What pact must you seek?" asked the monkey. 

Logan first turned towards Jaivva, "What animal do you want as your spirit animal"? 

In a high-pitched voice, Jaivva responded, "I didn't know we could pick. Oh my God. Let me think". 

"Vanessa, what about you?" asked Logan. 

Vanessa twirled her hair and looked in every direction except Logan. Her oblivious behavior amused everybody except Jaivva who wasn't paying attention. 

"Take your time girl," said Kiki. 

Logan shouted, "Noooo! Let's get this going. How about a feral cat? I know you love cats". 

"I dooo," said Vanessa, "Buuuuuu-". 

"Okay, so I'm stuck between a dog and a panda," said Jaivva. 

"How about a bear," suggested Logan, "They're pretty strong and durable. It would really balance your skills". 

"I don't want a bear though. I want a panda," said Jaivva. 

Kiki pointed out there were enough dogs in the community. It would be nice having a panda around. The deal was sealed and Jaivva wanted a Panda. Logan bickered that it wasn't sensible to exclude herself from the rest of the bears.

The Isekai Game is a vigorous sport where players battle in a variety of themes each month. From magic, alchemy, melee combat, gun slinging, themes, players are forced to fight each other and monsters alike. 



Vanessa finally has her shot at playing and making it to the pro leagues to live a life of wealth, fame, and adventure. But when her small guild of misfits is threatened by an in-game assassin and her "ghost" warns her of a traitor, she feels at the end of her ropes. 



Will her new Isekai family stay together and make it to the pro leagues. Or will this traitor succeed at tearing them apart along with the harsh nature of the game?

I know my first 2 chapters are confusing. I literally give the first 65 chapters free. My story has a "Do now, explain later" rhythm to it. The characters you read on in the first two chapters get fleshed out in the next two chapters. 
So give it a chance. 


Also, this is not your typical trash Isekai. There is no boy getting hit by a truck. No heavy romance. No high dive online nonsense. No harem. No sex jokes thrown every chapter nor bouncing tits. No truck-kun. No getting trapped in the game. No matrix or any other corny stuff. My concept is not original. But I literally cannot think of 1 story out there that has it.

Since when was there a jar under the heavens that Meng Fuyao couldn't lift?
Meng Fuyao was angered. With a huff, she tugged forcefully. The jar was pulled towards her, but the contents inside the jar spilled onto her chest as well. 
An intoxicating, rich, and sweet aroma filled the air, prolonging Meng Fuyao's anticipation and excitement. 
A thought suddenly struck Meng Fuyao. Her instincts were telling her to kick the jar since her action of pulling was too vicious, and the entire eight-treasures rack had begun to sway. There were many bottles on it, and if they were to fall off, it would be an earth-shattering disaster. Hence, she quickly reached out with one hand to stabilize the rack and caught the falling bottles with the other. A leg also shot up close to her head as it caught a certain bottle, but the tip of her foot toppled the pepper bottle onto her nose…
When both a person's hands and feet are occupied, one's body was basically at the mercy of others. 
And this "other" person's face was lit up in laughter as he sat upside down atop Meng Fuyao's head, feeling extremely pleased with temporarily having control over Meng Fuyao's body. He watched as the bottles smashed to the ground, then stuck his pinky out and began to sing slowly, "Long live… How do you like this concubine's 'Sitting Atop a Lotus' style?" 
Meng Fuyao's left hand was holding onto the rack, her right hand holding bottles, her left leg supporting cans and her right leg kicking the pepper bottle. Huffing angrily, she shot back, "I don't like it at all! I prefer the 'Old Man Pushing The Cart' style!"
"Oh, is that a new style?" The man clapped his hands together and pointed innocently at Meng Fuyao's chest, drawing circles around them as he asked, "What kind of position is that?"
Meng Fuyao viciously flung the bottles in her hand and on her leg towards the man's head and roared, "This style!"
'Damnit, how dare you slap my chest, I'm still a growing adolescent girl and finally managed to get to a size 34B. If you flatten it into a 32A, how am I supposed to live on?'
The bottles smashed towards the man, and he flicked his sleeve and received the bottles easily. He did all this while still sitting atop Meng Fuyao. Then, he promptly placed the vegetable cans and vinegar bottles onto Meng Fuyao's chest and asked, "How does the old man push the cart?"
Meng Fuyao was enraged.
It was truly a case of "I give you an inch, you take a yard". 
'I didn't dare to cause a ruckus here, but you're getting from bad to worse. Nevermind, since I've been discovered by you, I'll catch you and make you my slave!"
She gave an ear-splitting smile and reached out to grab the man's throat, and then said threateningly, "You have two choices. Either follow me or be killed. Choose yourself."
The corner of the man's lips twitched. Meng Fuyao loosened her grip, and he said, "Why are they all dead ends?"
Meng Fuyao's eyes flashed. Setting him down properly, she said less rudely, "Fine, don't play anymore. Fancy seeing you twice in a single night. This castle is too small. Tell me, what do you want."
Laughing, Xuanyuan Min looked at her and said, "What do you want? Do you think Xuanyuan Cheng is a pig? He knows that you haven't escaped, and he also knows that you're looking for food and medicine. He's already stationed troops in the doctor's manor and all the kitchens. Since this kitchen is the farthest from the Sixth West Palace and it's the lowest ranked kitchen, it had just been forgotten by the imperial troops' commander. Once he remembers, you still wouldn't be able to escape."
He laughed again and added, "Our Regent King is a kind man, the assassins we caught yesterday did not shed a single drop of blood; they were sent straight into a pot to boil." He pointed towards the direction of the bamboo forest from earlier. "Do you smell that? The smell is quite special, right? Why not keep it boiling every day, one a day, a different location each time. By tomorrow it would probably reach the cold palace." He eyed Meng Fuyao and said, "You'll definitely be fresh and tender when you're boiled…"
Meng Fuyao was speechless. She finally understood what the sour smell from earlier was and couldn't help but scrounge her noise and frown. She knew that given Xuanyuan Cheng's paranoia and wariness, he would definitely search the imperial palace one more time. Yet, before Shadow Blade had recovered from his wounds, she had no way of facing him directly. It looked like trying to protect two humans, and one hamster from the heavily armed imperial army and Xuanyuan Cheng was going to be a problem.
Meng Fuyao had been thinking for a long time and felt frustrated. "Then what are you doing hanging around here? Fool around and sing?" She snapped, glaring unkindly at Xuanyuan Min. She wasn't worried about him being Xuanyuan Cheng's agent—why would he spend so much energy? When she and Shadow Blade appeared the previous night, all he had to do was shout.
"Life is like a show, what's wrong with singing?" Xuanyuan Min smiled and looked at her, running a dark-purple painted fingernail across her cheek. "I'm still short of an empress…" he added.
Meng Fuyao leaped up and retorted, "I'm still short of a princess!" With that, she kicked him away and headed outside.
Xuanyuan Min was sprawled on the ground as he watched her leave. Suddenly, he flicked his finger, and a little bead flew towards Meng Fuyao's back. She quickly turned around to catch it with a hand, only to hear him say, "When you have a change of heart, come meet me at the back garden of the Fragrant Jade House."
'Change your grandma into a bear,' thought Meng Fuyao as she roughly stuffed the candle bead into her sleeve and weaved past the guards, returning to the cold palace. First, she checked carefully that the strand of hair she had used to mark the door was still in its original place. Only then did she flip over the wall. 
Once she entered the dark room, Meng Fuyao's eyes scanned the surroundings and located the previously arranged close stools. To her shock, the arrangement of the close stools had been changed. She immediately unsheathed Destiny Rebellion and treaded carefully towards the close stools, searching for any sound of breathing in the surrounding. She glanced at an empty space among the close stools from the corner of her eye—sure enough, there was nobody.
Meng Fuyao's heart began to beat swiftly—where had Shadow Blade gone? Had he encountered some guards? Was he caught by Xuanyuan Min? Shit, if she had known she wouldn't have left him earlier… She thought of the sour smell and involuntarily shuddered. 
Just as she was about to run outside to find Shadow Blade, she suddenly heard a voice from above. "Come up."
She raised her head to see Shadow Blade sitting atop the highest point of the close stools. He was surrounded by close stools, yet he still managed to maintain a distinguished look. Even close stools could turn into a throne when he sat on it. 
Meng Fuyao's heart relaxed for a moment, but was almost instantly replaced by anger as she couldn't help but lash out, "Why did you run up there, you scared me."
Shadow Blade sat lazily on the wall of close stools and used his chin to indicate at a small sky window near the ceiling. "This position is higher than the courtyard gates. You can see all outside movement from here," he said.
Meng Fuyao carefully clambered up and glanced out the window. Sure enough, it was as he described. "This time, we can expect the enemy. Trust you to find such a hidden window," she said gleefully. 
Shadow Blade's eyes glinted, and he smiled but did not say anything. Meng Fuyao retrieved a biscuit from her chest, and her face instantly turned black—the biscuit had been completely squashed by Rabbit Lord, and it now looked like Lord Yuan Bao's feces. Was this fit for human consumption? It was probably more suitable for a rodent!
"Damn it, that godforsaken scoundrel!" Meng Fuyao cursed under her breath. 
Shadow Blade turned around and asked, "What?"
Meng Fuyao shook her head and said, "Fill your stomach first." She thrust the biscuit at him and batted her eyelashes, hoping that if Shadow Blade ate it, then it would motivate her to eat it as well. Shadow Blade stared at the unsightly, squashed biscuit and frowned slightly. In the end, he still took a piece and slowly began to eat. 
Meng Fuyao rejoiced internally with tears in her eyes—Heaven knows how ugly this thing had been squashed into. If it were Zhangsun Wuji or Zhan Beiye or any of those nobles, they would rather starve to death than eat it. Truly, commoners were still the best, being both practical and accommodating. 
When the biscuit was brought before Lord Yuan Bao, the noble magical hamster was extremely angered and disappointed—its food had always been nothing but the best grain, and the imperial chefs would only select the best and most expensive ingredients and spend hours meticulously creating rare and exquisite dishes for it. Since when did it have to eat this kind of peasant fare? And something that had been squashed and looked like Meng Fuyao excreted it? Was this fit for rodents? More like it was fit for humans!
How disappointing… Ever since it followed Meng Fuyao, its status had dropped, its future had become bleak, and even its quality of life sank so low it was underwater…
It had already forgotten that just days ago Meng Fuyao had just invited it to the Heavenly Restaurant to eat bear's claw with bird's nest…

She would worry, but never mull over things; she would get anxious, but she would become even more careful next time; she had so many flaws, yet she bravely confronted them.
She was afraid of what she was meant to be afraid of, but not because of the difference in strength, but rather that in her fear, she would not forget to be rational—to be brave but wary, ruthless but reserved, every step must be a perfect balance on the tightrope of combat. Even more, she shouldn't show any emotion to the opponent, nor overlook the opponent's emotions.
Her strength was her ironclad will.
Shadow Blade sighed lightly. Suddenly, he felt a sharp pain in his chest. He turned around and caught a whiff of a sourish smell drifting from below. 
Meng Fuyao had smelled it too, and she nearly lost her appetite because of it. Nonetheless, she closed her eyes and stuffed the biscuit into her mouth—the situation was critical; they were surrounded, and she was the only real power left among the little group of two humans plus one hamster. She had to maintain her strength.
The two of them sat atop the close stools in silence. After a while, Meng Fuyao asked, "Do you know what smell this is?"
Shadow Blade's eyes held a mild hint of amusement as he replied, "Yes."
Meng Fuyao turned to look at him sharply. With an ashen face, Shadow Blade said emotionlessly, "When I was very young, I smelled something like this before. My wet-nurse was killed this way."
Meng Fuyao stared at his peaceful expression and couldn't resist asking, "That was your subordinate, I heard earlier that Xuanyuan Min will boil all of them to death. Perhaps today, or tomorrow, we will be boiled to death on this pile of close stools while looking out this sky window."
