Just as there is 'Soft Magic' in Fantasy that is portrayed through magibabble, there can be 'Soft Science' in a Sci-Fi stories through technobabble that makes 'some sense', but not entirely correct.

We are frickin' writers, not scientists. You don't have to be anatomically correct all the time, all you need to do is show that you know enough of your stuff to write a decent story. In fact, the excuse of it being an alternate world can be used if you're going to bend the limits of physics and say that fire doesn't need air to exist in this parallel dimension.

I see a lot of writers being put into a state of confusion due to not understanding the line between fantasy and Sci-Fi. They seem like they are trying to fit the Star Trek mould too often.

Science can just as well do the same things as plot devices in fantasy stories. Once you add 'realism' to a fantasy, it becomes progressively better sometimes compared to a completely fantasied story where 'logic' doesn't hold within it.

Those who write Sci-Fi usually envision a future they can imagine where magic-like Rocket Boots and other stuff exist. However, a writer must not get bogged down by small details and MUST think of an overarching story where these details matter.

It is the same with Fantasy. Even if you write about someone breaking the mould as a wizard or something, you have to attach your world to a narrative rather than doing it the other way 'round.

No one wants to hear about how awesome your boat propellers are before hearing your story's narrative. They would rather you cut down and make it relevant when it is actually relevant.

Adding some 'Hard Science' to your story is only when the scenes later on have any use for them. It bores a person to death no matter how extensive your technobabble is unless you make it interesting. Try using facts as plot elements.

For example: Even the simple fact that people cannot breath in space and instantly die when they come in contact with the 'void' of space could be used to add a layer of tension when a spaceship is damaged. Similar to how dangerous 'hard magic' is used in Epic Fantasy like Frodo's Ring in The Lord of the Rings has definitive corruption on others.

Unlike Fantasy that can use the Power of Friendship to bend logic, the readers of Sci-Fi never be expecting any 'realistic' plot elements to be bend just because the Author wants a happy ending. There are no 'Healing Potions' in real life that can be used to fix up injuries nor are people affected by prophesies or whatever.

This is the contrast between Sci-Fi and Fantasy that you can make full use of. As most authors go onto the Sci-Fi side of writing not because they strive to be scientists but since the aesthetics of a science fiction world are just so interesting.

Science Fiction is a good place to tackle heavy topics like the nature of life and the absurdity of those who see 'science' as everything. Those who disregard emotions and become cybernetic entities for the sake of casting off their mortality are portrayed as the bad guys while our totally human protagonist fighting them is a 'good guy'.

The lines between an Artificial Intelligence and regular Humans blurs as we become the 'God' of technological species that defy our definition of what is 'living'. Just as we see God as some sort of fourth-dimensional and incomprehensible being that created us as an imperfect image of 'Him', the robots given sentience would see us similarly.

Some robots might have emotions that can allow them to defy their programming, some robots won't go as far as gaining emotional functionality but will preform their roles better than even a human. It could show the reason why people get attached to the inanimate and soulless objects we put our own hearts into creating (like Big Hero 6).

But though exploring philosophical questions is good and all, never forget that a good 'plot' is needed to put forward and give clues into the writer's answer that context. Sci-Fi is, after all, a premise, not a relatable character in of itself.

Think of the science-fiction elements as just the background for your story, similar to how other genres should be that as well. You won't have to deal writing blocks if you keep to writing only what you know rather than just speculative theories.

Whether it's as dark as a Cyber Punk or optimistic of the future, just know what mould you are using for this premise. Are you writing an Adventure story with Sci-Fi as the places, destinations, and whatever tools the MC can get him hands on, or are you writing a comedy where the Sci-Fi elements don't need consistency but absurdity?

After moving past why you shouldn't add unneeded technobabble unless it's interesting to listen to or has plot significance, let me remind you all that robots and 'science' isn't entirely separated from the realm of magic. After all, there is a reason you don't see skimpy power suits being worn by astronauts these days. Just be sure to have a focus if your going to add very illogical things to the plot.

I like Gundam as much as the next guy but the whole reason the Mecha sub-genre of Anime has waned in recent years is because writers have been focusing too much on 'science' rather than the spectacle. I don't need to now what materials your Mecha is made of unless you point its weak points and make it relevant in a fight scene.

Bring up the strengths and weaknesses of something and THEN use those facts as devices that can move the plot. Conversely, if you go overboard with this advice and tell me nothing but how your giant robot looks and the 'science' behind its creation, even going as far as to tell me how many secret guns it has, then I'll be bored...

I'd love to see Cyborgs Vs Mecha but just don't forget the human element of Sci-Fi. How we create things not solely for the sake of creation but put are feelings into it just like the novels we write.

This is a story I worked on ages ago that has been refined and edited by adding foreshadowing to events while also simplifying the power system better than before. This story can be considered a prequel to An Adventure Beyond Greatness as it takes place years prior to the events of that story.

Short Synopsis:
After retiring from the battlefield, my life became empty and lifeless. The regrets of my past haunt me in my sleep. Then a change occurred, a King from another world summoned me to fight for his kingdom, but I died even before I could give him my answer. Now, after a fake God allowed me to reincarnate (albeit imperfectly) with my memories intact, into a world filled with magic and swords.

Long Synopsis:
This is about a flawed protagonist who only knew to rely on others and not socialise who gets a second chance to change himself in order to live the life he aimed for in his past life. The narrator isn’t exactly trustworthy since it is purely in his bias perspective while other perspectives given by others fill in the blanks that he either leaves out or twists to suit the situation.

The story itself can be considered a parody of Isekai’s classic tropes which are given a sense of reality as time goes by. As there exists no ‘Demon Lord’, there is also no black and white, only characters opinions and counter-opinions throughout the story.

The English novel begins behind bars, in extremis. Its first author, John Bunyan, was a Puritan dissenter whose writing starts with sermons and ends with fiction. His famous allegory, the story of Christian, opens with a sentence of luminous simplicity that has the haunting compulsion of the hook in a great melody. "As I walk'd through the wilderness of this world, I lighted on a certain place, where was a Denn; And I laid me down in that place to sleep: And as I slept I dreamed a Dream."
A "Denn" is a prison, and Bunyan wrote most of the book in Bedford county gaol, having been arrested for his beliefs during the "Great Persecution" of 1660-1690. He shares the experience of prison with Cervantes, who had the idea for Don Quixote while incarcerated in La Mancha. Like so many novels that follow in this list, The Pilgrim's Progress blends fact and fiction. As well as being the record of Bunyan's dream, a well-known fictional device, it is also an archetypal tale – a quest, fraught with danger. Christian's pilgrimage takes him through the Slough of Despond, Vanity Fair and the Delectable Mountains in a succession of adventures that keep the reader turning the page. With his good companions, Faithful and Hopeful, he vanquishes many enemies before arriving at the Celestial City with the line that still reverberates through the English literary tradition: "So he passed over, and all the trumpets sounded for him on the other side."

In Hollywood terms, the novel has a perfect "arc". It also contains a cast of unforgettable characters, from Mr Worldly Wiseman to Lord Hategood, Mr Stand-fast and Mr Valiant-for-Truth.
More profoundly, as an allegory of state repression, it has been described by the historian EP Thompson as one of the "foundation texts of the English working-class movement". Part of its uniquely English quality is a robust and engaging sense of humour that has cemented its appeal to generations of readers.

The Pilgrim's Progress is the ultimate English classic, a book that has been continuously in print, from its first publication to the present day, in an extraordinary number of editions. There's no book in English, apart from the Bible, to equal Bunyan's masterpiece for the range of its readership, or its influence on writers as diverse as William Thackeray, Charlotte Bronte, Mark Twain, CS Lewis, John Steinbeck and even Enid Blyton.

Huckleberry Finn speaks for many readers when, recalling his Mississippi education, he says: "There was some books too... One was 'Pilgrim's Progress', about a man that left his family it didn't say why. I read considerable in it now and then. The statements was interesting, but tough."

The story of a man in search of the truth is the plot of many kinds of fiction, fromPortnoy's Complaint to Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Like many of the writers in the list that follows, Bunyan had a wonderful ear for the rhythms of colloquial speech and his allegorical characters come to life in dialogue that never fails to advance the narrative. Story is one thing. The simple clarity and beauty of Bunyan's prose is something else. Braided together, style and content unite to make a timeless English classic.

    The incident of Iraq war, the terrorists, the high unemployment rate in the United States, the mother-in-law who didn't like the son-in-law, the wife who loved her husband, and so on, which was only used in the limited time and space of the 90-minute film, it's message and satirized the social reality. Alex does admire the ability of writers and directors in the film.


    Although there's no original script, Alex believes that he can write a new script with his own understanding and gradual improve some details.


    Alex's also knows that the highest requirement of the whole film is the use of the lens. Fortunately, Alex has carefully studied this particular film and he believes that he'll be able to do it perfectly.


    The most important props are coffin, lighters and mobile phones. Alex directly thought of the way to make more money, that is product placement.


    In this way, he can even complete the film without spending much money, and perhaps get a fee for himself.


    There are few actors and few props. It's also a good evaluation through word-of-mouth and may also get more sponsors next film. Therefore, the box office of this film is not as good as the lower-cost "Paranormal Activity "9, but for Alex, it's the best choice in his current conditions.

Like the stranger, the man suddenly realized that his life would be completely ruined if he continued on this way. So he decided to get rid of this nightmare just as the stranger did.　
After getting this far, Zhang Zian suddenly started acting mysterious and asked, "Can you guess how the hero got rid of the book?"　　
Meng Li was completed drawn in by this odd story. He stopped combing the Cocker Spaniel's fur and took a guess. "Did he sell it to somebody else, like the stranger did?"
Zhang Zian smiled. "He did something smarter. He hid it like a tree in the forest. When nobody was watching, he hid the book on a bookshelf of a national library with 0.9 million books, and tried not to remember which shelf it was. He never even visited the street where the library was."　　
Meng Li knocked on the table with excitement. "Great idea! If he did so, this Book of Sand could no longer be found, unless some extremely unlucky guy picked it up, with a chance of 1 out of 0.9 million!"　　
Zhang Zian smiled bitterly.  This extremely unlucky is sitting right in front of you, and offered you a glass of orange juice.　
He remembered that when Pi first arrived at the pet shop, it would make a gesture of slipping sand out of its hand. Back then, he thought that it was referring to the sand of Ganges river. Could he be wrong?　　
"So is the story is over?" Meng Li was looking forward to hearing more.　　
Zhang Zian nodded. "It's finishes with an open ending. Professor, is this Book of Sand similar to The Hyperwebster Dictionary?"
Meng Li said, "Indeed. But the Hyperwebster is more rigorous, and it does have a beginning."　　
Zhang Zian agreed on this. The Hyperwebster was a theory of science, but the Book of Sand was a fantasy of literature. They shared some similarities only in certain aspects.
"Either the Hyperwebster or the Book of Sand, if they do exist, would be very precious. Aren't they? They would be the most impressive books on Earth. Or if there are other civilizations in the universe, could they come up with better books?" he asked.　　
He remembered that Galaxy once said the nameless book was the most impressive book on the earth, but not in the universe.

"In theory, let's suppose you had one." Zhang Zian clarified.　　
"Well..." Meng Li thought about it. "If I got the Book of Sand, I might read it. If I would end up getting obsessed over it like the man from the story...I'm not sure, maybe. A lot of people crave knowledge, after all. But if I got the Hyperwebster, well, it's hard to say. The words might be in random order. I wouldn't be able to read even if I try. Perhaps I would give it to the government." 　　
He was half joking.　　
"This is my other question." Zhang Zian ignored his joke. "If the words in the Hyperwebster are in random order, how can you know that it contains all knowledge and all of the great writings?"

Zhang Zian continued. "Have you heard this quote: My life has an end, but knowledge is endless?"　　
"Yes. I may be a mathematician, but I know this famous quote." Meng Li smiled. "It means that, our lives are limited, but knowledge is limitless. How is this related to our discussion about the Hyperwebster and the Book of Sand?"　　
"It is, in fact, very much related." Zhang Zian spoke firmly. "Professor Meng, do you know the second half of this quote?"　　
"Well..." Meng Li had no idea.　　
The first half of this quote was well-known, but the second half was often ignored. A lot of famous quotes were like this. People only took the parts that they needed, and twisted the original meanings. Such as the quote: When your parents are still around, you travel too far. The man from the Book of Sand, out of his thirst for knowledge, was making the same mistake as well. He didn't realize that knowledge was without bounds, but his time was limited.　
It really was true. My life has an end, but knowledge is endless. Chasing the endless with the limited is dangerous!

Meng Li realized this at the same time. "A limited person cannot read an endless book, unless there are endless numbers of people. If an infinite number of people are reading the Hyperwebster at the same time, and each person is extracting meaningful words and connect them into lines and articles, then they are pursuing infinity with infinity."

She suddenly remembered something and said, "Do you need investment?" 

"....." Haru was speechless and said, "What investment?" 

"Your website. I'm not sure what you're planning, but I'm sure you're planning to do something," Runa said. 

Haru raised his eyebrow and said, "The website is on the initial stage. I don't need an investment for the time being." He also didn't need that much money to manage this website by himself. 

"What are you going to plan with that website?" Runa asked. 

"Nothing. Let's talk when the website is popular," Haru said. 

"But your website is popular?!" Runa said while twitching her lips. She didn't know what Haru was planning, but she smelled money from him. 

Haru knew that his website was quite popular since he had a lot of fans on twitter and when he posted the link of his website on twitter a lot of people started to open it at the same time to read his novel. 

His website was similar to an internet community for readers and writers to publish new user-generated stories in different genres, including classics, general fiction, historical fiction, non-fiction, poetry, fan-fiction, spiritual, humor, and teen fiction.

However, it was only his first step since he also wanted to change it to a video-hosting website. He needed to raise his money first through his investment company later. 

"How is the preparation?" Haru decided to change the topic of conversation. 

Runa snorted and said, "It's done. We have gotten permission from the student council." She smiled and said, "Anyway, who dares to stop us now." 

"We're not a student council. We also need to pay a tax to them for this event," Haru said with a sigh. He really hated it when his cake was divided again. 

"That's true." Runa nodded and said, "There is a week before the show. You need to be patient." 

"I am very patient," Haru said. 

"Haru. Do you have the continuation of both Sword Art Online and 5 Centimeters per Second? I am very hooked on both of them. If possible can you also give me the Dragon Zakura too," Runa said with a bright expression.

When they lost money they used the money of their parents and the amount of money wasn't that much unless they were rich. 

Haru was quite happy since the money that he had won from both of his gambles had entered his bank account. He had decided to use this money for an investment, especially for gold since it was on the rise. 

'2009, huh?' 

Haru knew that there were a lot of butterfly effects that were happening in this world when he was reincarnated since he had seen a lot of things that didn't appear in his last life such as Love Live. He didn't know why such a show where a high school student competed for each other to become the best idol in this country. He knew that this show had a lot of potentials and he thought that it would be good to use this show to promote his Instagram. 

His Instagram was quite good and the number of accounts was steadily increasing. The only problem was he needed to do something to promote this app to North America. 

'The problem is China.' 

Haru knew that social media such as Facebook and Instagram were being blocked by the government of China. He knew that it would be hard to enter China's market. He needed a partner and let them manage Instagram in China by themselves since the market of China was too tempting. He shook his head and decided to not think too much now since his economic power was too low. 

Haru looked at Runa who was taking a picture of herself using a smartphone and he also saw that he was on the frame. He also saw a familiar app on her phone and asked, "What are you doing?" 

"Oh, I am taking a photo." Runa uploaded her photo and said, "Do you have an Instagram?" 

"...." Haru was speechless but also felt happy. "I have it." 

"Really? Let me follow you," Runa said. 

"Sure. I'll follow you back," Haru said. 

Runa didn't expect Haru to have an Instagram account. She was curious and decided to look at it. She was speechless when she saw it. "There are a lot of girls." 

"Yeah. They're my friends," Haru said. 

"...." Runa squinted her eyes while looking at him suspiciously. 

Haru decided to not say anything and changed the topic of conversation. "Now is the break, let's go and meet Kirari." 

Runa kept looking at him but nodded in agreement. 

Haru was wondering whether he had raised Runa's flag in the past.

"I like the way you coped with the monster last night. I wish I had more experience points. You're always battling with the monsters alone!" Alexander frowned.
"Stop being angry; you've collected all the loot." I sighed and asked sarcastically, "How many epic artifacts do you have?"
"M-m-m…"
"Well." I smirked. "Do you remember that proverb? If you dance you must pay the fiddler. So, if you want to fight the mobs, you need to share the epic artifacts with me."
"All right. I'll think about it."
We came back with my brother from university and discussed the game we had been playing for several years. Alexander was a year younger than me, but, nevertheless, he was a head taller than me and much more popular among the girls.
We always tried to help each other, despite a lot of arguments and even a couple of fights, which we could now remember with smiles.
The winter, as usual, was very cold. When are they going to build a weather control center? It'll be a wonderful life. Winters will be normal—it lasts six months now.
We were always cold, even warm scarves didn't protect us from the icy wind, which froze everyone on its way.
Large snowflakes fell from the sky, covering the icy paths. Trees and buildings were dressed in white hats and fur coats, as though they were tightly wrapped in their snow clothes to protect themselves from the cold.
People were driving home from work in their cars. The aerodynamic housings made them look more like spaceships than a normal vehicle. I wish they could fly already; many science-fiction writers wrote about the possibility.
Someday, I'll buy a car like this, and then I'll drive at maximum speed through the test stadium. Alexander didn't like cars; he was fonder of quiet walks.
At least, that's what he says now. I think he'll change his mind when he goes to work. 
"Alexey, aren't you going to change the faculty?"
"No."
"Do you really like artificial intelligence systems?" He sighed. "I wish you were interested in space. We could visit the moon city. Now they are exploring gravity, creating wormholes, changing the principles of spatial anomalies, and-"
"I'm not interested, Alexander," I interrupted him. He could talk about space for hours. "You keep dreaming of space and wormholes, and we haven't even colonized Mars yet. I'm afraid we won't live to see this."
"What are you talking about?" He looked at me haughtily. "After a couple of years, they will erect an atmosphere generator on Elysium island. They'll heat the core and increase the magnetic field strength to the Earth's level."
"It's just plans. I don't see any action," I told him. "Artificial intelligence already exists and allows huge opportunities. Space exploration is impossible without such systems. Come on."
We reached the bus stop and waited for the bus. It was late. The bus was never late, so this was a little weird. Perhaps the schedule had changed, and we hadn't paid attention to it because we were arguing. The bus stop was overcrowded.
"You might be right," Alexander said after a while, making me doubt my own hearing. "Such systems will greatly simplify research and calculations at all levels; they could work in conditions inappropriate for humans."
"Can you repeat what you've just said? I've heard something that clever from you before." I made a face, and Alexander couldn't help laughing.

The few other survivors and I couldn't understand what had happened for a long time. Alexander was somehow still alive, but most of his body was trapped under the wreckage. Exoskeletons, bought by our father for us, could protect us from many dangers, but not from such a strike. My brother tried to say something, but the blood flowed from his mouth, making him grimace in pain. He took my hand and smiled just like before the accident. He was right.
His hand weakened, and his eyes closed; the smile remained on his face. Tears were running down my cheeks only a few minutes later.
