Three black figures leapt down from a building in the distance; all of them wore a black mask and were dressed in full-black. They were clearly ninjas from Japan; the katanas they were wielding was telling.

"Huh?" Gao Ziang was stunned. He narrowed his eyes and glared at them. "So. The three of you want to protect Chen Xiaobei?"

Yap Liangchen and Feng Qingyang were puzzled. They never knew that Chen Xiaobei had placed three elites here as backup.

Why Japanese, though?

"We need to capture Chen Xiaobei alive! You are not allowed to kill him!" The man in the middle tried his best to speak in Chinese.

"Capture him alive?"

Everyone save for Chen Xiaobei himself was left dumbfounded. In other words, the ninjas were his enemies as well, and had been lying in wait to ambush him at the opportune moment.

"The three of them are really something… I never noticed them following us!" Yap Liangchen frowned. He was an elite at the latter phase of Qi refining stage with ten thousand combat power after all – the fact that he could not detect them made it clear that the ninjas were quite formidable themselves!

The members of the Ghost Claw Faction were shocked. They knew that the three men in black were extremely dangerous to deal with. The trio were akin to venomous snakes hiding in the corner and biding their time, ready to deal a fatal blow in an instant.

Suddenly, their leader lifted his chin and laughed coldly. "All three of us here are high-leveled mid-tier ninjas. Staying undetected is our specialty. Not even those high combat power elites would notice us, let alone weaklings like you people!"

"Don't be so cocky! How good could you be when My Sifu noticed you three following us some time ago?" Feng Qingyang shot back snobbishly.

"I…" The lead ninja laughter stopped as he choked on his own saliva. All three of them then gaped at Chen Xiaobei, not quite able to understand how he sensed their presence.

Chen Xiaobei simply put on a straight face and ignored them. That was a perfect form of face-slapping – one achieved without saying a word! In truth, the ninjas were indeed stealthy. Chen Xiaobei would never have found them preparing their ambush if he did not activate his Golden Gaze Fiery Eyes while checking out the building.

In short, it was mere chance that he saw them. Naturally, that was his secret and he would never tell them about it.

"Bastard! Stop being so arrogant! What can you do even if you did find us?! I will bring you back to Japan, no matter what happens today!" The head of the Ninja said determinedly.

"Oh, I don't mind that at all. However, you'll need to ask permission from Gao Ziang here!" Chen Xiaobei shrugged and replied sarcastically.

"Indeed! Don't expect me to let him go – the brat has thrown huge waves in Jianghu, and I will be famous and respected, once I kill him! Then, my boss will rely on me more, and invest more money on us. It's an opportunity not to be missed" Gao Ziang said coldly.

"So, end of discussion?" The ninja said in a deep tone; his murderous aura started to fill the atmosphere.

"You Japs don't even deserve to speak to me!" Gao Ziang said arrogantly and drew his daggers.

Those three Ninjas drew their katanas in attack, injected brown True Qi to their blades. It was as if their weapons were shrouded in brown flames that devoured the air around them.

"They look pretty strong… Judging from their True Qi, the three of them must be at the latter phase of Qi refining stage!" Feng Qingyang frowned.

"All three of them are almost at my level. I don't think I can handle them if they all attack at once!" Yap Liangchen gulped. "Bro Bei, we should get out of here…"

"Get out? Hehe…" Chen Xiaobei smiled. He found it reasonable for Yap Liangchen to panic, however, since they did not see each other for some time.

Turning on his Netherspirit Battlescouter, he checked on the three ninjas. His friends were right – the ninja trio were at the latter phase of Qi refining stage, and possess ten thousand combat power!

Then, Chen Xiaobei turned to look at Gao Ziang.

"Well,I know who is going to win this fight." Chen Xiaobei muttered, his eyebrows raised.

Gao Ziang swung both of daggers in his hands. The yellow True Qi around the daggers was focused, and threatened to blanket the area like a sandstorm.

"Too fast!" The head of the Ninja exclaimed. Before he realized it, both of his team members were screaming in agony. Gao Ziang had stabbed them both with his daggers, and his yellow True Qi destroyed their organs completely!

The head of the Ninja was at a loss. There was nothing else for him other than to flee the scene as soon as possible!

"I know you want to run, but I can't allow you to do that," Gao Ziang grinned darkly. "I really need to make a name for myself since I've only moved to Dragon City recently. Although killing all three of you here won't make waves across Jianghu compared to killing Chen Xiaobei, it's still something. I don't mind either way!"

"Mercy…Please…" The ninja started to beg.

He was decapitated before he could finish his words.

"Our leader is the best! Our leader is the best!"

"F*ck those ninjas. They're just a pile of garbage to our leader!"

"Our leader is going to be famous after this. The Ghost Claw Faction is going to bloom!"

The members of the Ghost Claw Faction were so thrilled they would have gladly used their tongue to lick Gao Ziang's boots.

"This guy is quite strong… No wonder he didn't care about me. I will definitely lose in a fight!!" Yap Liangchen exclaimed, his forehead was drenched with cold sweat.

"Gao Ziang is talented. That's was why I took him under my wing as my grand-godson some time ago. I just didn't expect him to be a rotten apple!" Feng Qingyang groaned.

"Brat! What say you? Just show me your neck, and I'll cut it. It'll be painless!" Gao Ziang glared at Chen Xiaobei.

"There are a lot of people who wants my neck too. Please, take a number!" Chen Xiaobei laughed.

Suddenly, a shadow flashed and charged towards them. "No one else can kill Chen Xiaobei, except me!" The man shouted with a hair-raising voice!

Silence. Not only Evan, other unaffiliated Practitioners all fell into a long silence. Now, they had trouble getting along with Lu Shu, especially Evan. Due to the long history of conflicts between the Phoenix Society and the Heavenly Network, they were never on good terms with each other, though the former had never purposely targeted the latter.
Honestly speaking, Evan was scared of being killed by Lu Shu.
All of a sudden, a series of hasty footsteps were heard from not far away. Based on the sound, it seemed there were quite a number of them. Everyone let out a sigh of relief as the intense atmosphere lightened.
Following the sound, they saw six Asians drawing close. Just when Evan was about to wave, the six of them gradually came to a stop, their expression cold as stone. Apparently, the air around them was not one of surprise or joy, but ambitions.
Lu Shu frowned upon the detection of two Class C's through their energy waves. How lucky must they be to gather two Class C's together?

As a result, neither side would be merciful to the other upon their encounter.

The CoG people drew a startled breath. Isn't that a given, idiot? Also, what's wrong with you? Why the sneer?

Unexpectedly, in the next instant, Lu Shu took the first move and the stream of divine water suddenly hurled forward towards the CoG like a golden dragon.
There was no reason to settle things peacefully. Besides, Lu Shu had never planned to go easy with CoG people. Since a fight was unavoidable, he was going to unleash it all!
Just when the opponents were putting their guard up, the dragon split into two and aimed directly at the two Class C pros' katanas!

The CoG experts had no idea of the function of the golden water, which soon encapsulated the swords in the blink of an eye and swelled up towards their palms and wrists at lightning speed!
They could sense that the golden liquid was corroding their armor and the katana!
"What's that?!" the CoG experts darted towards Lu Shu at the same time while forcing their Spirit Qi into action in an attempt at resisting his divine water, thwarting its rate of erosion.
But soon, to their surprise, the katanas could no longer be imbued with Spirit Qi!
So, how was that different from scraps?
Decisively, they immediately abandoned their katanas. Instantly ten plus shurikens were fired at Lu Shu with a wave of their hands. Meanwhile, other members behind them tossed their katanas to the two Class C's, sacrificing themselves in support of their leaders.
However, in the next instant, Lu Shu had already dodged the blades and swerved towards the back!
"Chase him!" thinking that Lu Shu was trying to escape in the knowledge that he could not win, the CoG members decided to pursue. Though strange, the golden liquid did not seem any more useful besides its ability to consume two weapons simultaneously.
Evan's people did not dare to follow. After all, if Lu Shu had failed, they would probably become the next target!
"Let's leave this place, as far as possible. A single Class C can kill us all!" Evan analyzed calmly. In his opinion, Lu Shu was at most a Class C, no matter how strong he was. Didn't he run away already?
There was no reply. Even those who had thanked Lu Shu for saving their lives had started walking in the opposite direction.
Biting her lips, only Coral suddenly ran in Lu Shu's direction. She wanted to help Lu Shu in his fight.
That made Meng Jingchan's heart shudder. In fact, she admired her straightforwardness. Her devotion to Lu Shu was simple and pure, just out of her love for him.
But how about herself? She did not even dare to raise the topic even though she had hoped Lu Shu would join her team.
No one expected Lu Shu to have any chances of victory over the CoG pros. At the moment, after finishing up the two katanas, the divine water suddenly shot up to the sky and soared towards Lu Shu. It took much less time than the digestion of gargoyles due to the presence of that wisp of smoke.
In the distance, Lu Shu gradually slowed down as he was certain that he was out of the sight of Evan's people. It was within his expectation that Evan had no guts to rescue him. Thus, he had purposely kept the distance so as to keep it a secret of his invisible storage equipment.
Fixing Lu Shu with frosty stares, the CoG members closed in in a semi-circular pattern. Lu Shu's voluntary pause was an indication of his intention to use his trump card, which made them even more alert.
"Watch out for his flying dagger. A powerful weapon. However, he only has one dagger but we have six people," the leader gave out instructions composedly. In addition, he had intentionally pointed out Lu Shu's weakness to pressure him.


Magical energy has come to this world; Lu Shu could only stare as one powerhouse after another appear.

It's a Japanese word that has just one meaning and can only be used in one context. It can't be misunderstood as it literally means to test a new weapon,mainly katanas on any unsuspecting passerbys. This was mainly done at night and definitely caused alot of deaths. There were also rumors that mentioned how performing tsujigiri 1,000 times could heal any illness. 

At one point in time it was also legal for samurais to kill any nonsamurai.

The pokemon night slash attack is also known as tsujigiri in the Japanese version.

When Haeckel came to his senses, he found himself lying down on a bed, staring at a bamboo ceiling. Everything about him was unchanged. He had the black shirt, denim pants, sneakers and even the katanas were sheathed by his waist was still there.

He sat up and looked around. He was in a hut. He stood up and looked around him. Chouji was also lying down on the floor on the other side of the room, snoring. 

"Ouch." His whole body ached. He walked with a limp while massaging his neck. As he opened the wooden door, bright morning light greeted him. 

"Awake now boy?" An old man was stretching outside. He was bald and had a tan skin. Beside him was a little girl, about nine years old who was also stretching. They moved to the rhythm of the Japanese Morning Radio Exercise except what they used was a cassette. 

"It was good that we found you. My granddaughter insisted that we come and get you in case one of those monsters eat you. She also said that you will bring us good fortune. Since seven days ago, my daughter was able to predict things that will happen in the future. 

"I am Ernst Haeckel. Thank you very much for saving us." Haeckel bowed then looked at the old man. 

"Where were my manners haha. I am Kinue Matsui and this is my granddaughter, Kinue Fukushima. Say hello to Haeckel - san. 

"Hello." The cute little girl with pigtails hid behind her grandfather after greeting Haeckel. 

"How long had it been?" Haeckel asked. 

"Not long. It was just yesterday night. Are you hungry?" Matsui asked. 

Haeckel's stomach growled. Without even answering the old man, the old man spoke.

"My sons are cooking beef at the back. It will be done in no time. You can rest back inside if you want." 

"No, I'm fine thank you. Would you mind if I join your stretching?" Haeckel asked. 

"Sure!" The old man smiled and played the radio exercise. 

"One, two, three, four arms to the side and then the knees, five, six, seven, eight, repeat once more..." Haeckel stretched his aching body. He was slightly feeling better each time he stretched his muscles. 

After the stretching was finished, Haeckel proceeded to working out. In the past week, Haeckel realized the importance of strength training. Not only muscles are strengthened but also bones, tendons and endurance. As much as he could, he would dedicate a portion of his time into working out. 

"Big Brother, grandpa told me to fetch you because the food is finished." Kinue Fukushima, the cute little girl, ran inside the cottage to fetch Chouji. Like Haeckel, Chouji's whole body was in pain, which was made obvious by the way he walked. 

"Good morning brother. What happened? Where are we? Fudge I am starving." Chouji limped. 

"Second Big Brother, there is food over there." Fukushima ran towards the back. 

"We are still in Japan as you can see in the middle of rice paddies. Our plane crashed because of Echo or whatever he is called. Luckily, the Kinue family saved us. That little girl is named Fukushima while her grandpa's name is Matsui. Let's go. I'm also starving."

The Kinue family cooked their meals behind their house. Aside from the old man and her granddaughter, a middle aged man was also their, setting food up. On his waist was the sword that was given by Echo. 

"Good morning sirs. I am Kinue Akiyama. The food is ready. My cooking skills are not so good so please pardon the taste if it is not to your liking." 

"Thank you sir." Haeckel and Chouji said at the same time and said "Itadakimasu," which meant 'Thanks for the food' in Japanese. 

"Wow, this food is amazing!" Chouji swallowed one after another. 

"Yeah it tastes great." Haeckel also complimented but as a form of compliment. 

"So, you're the guy named Ernst Haeckel right Did you come from the Imperial Palace?" Akiyama asked while he was eating food. 

"I was there yesterday." Haeckel nodded. 

"How is the royal family? What will happen to us?" 

"The royal family is fine. They are taking care of your country as best as they could but I don't think they could help you out. At the very least, more than half of the population has turned into zombies and even more are being infected." Chouji was the one who answered.

For a brief moment of time, sadness could be seen on the faces of the Kinue family members. 

"I see. Why were you announcing that you were in the Imperial Palace?" the grandfather asked. 

"I'm looking for my wife. She flew to Japan on the day everything started. I thought that maybe her plane landed somewhere other than Tokyo because of what happened."

"What if she had never reached Japan in the first place?" Chouji asked while his mouth was still full. 

Haeckel stopped eating. "What if..." 

All of a sudden, the ground shook. 

"Over there!" Fukushima pointed at a fast approaching bull. 

The five people were shocked by the appearance of this creature. The black bull was as large as a van and each of its two bloody horns were as long as Chouji's staff. Its red eyes were staring hungrily at Chouji, the fattest of the five, like how a predator would look at its prey. With every nearing step of the bull, the ground shook even harder. 

"Brothers, please bring my daughter to safety." Akiyama slowly unsheathed the sword from his waist, held it with two hands and stared at the monstrous bull. 

"Father!" Fukushima attempted to run towards Akiyama but she was stopped by her grandfather.

"There is no need to go. Chouji and I can do this." Haeckel unsheathed his two katanas. 

"Wait a minute I don't have my staff! Old man, where's the plane?"

"Over there." Matsui pointed towards a plane about two kilometers away. 

"I'll bring the old man and the little girl somewhere far." Chouji picked up the little girl easily using his superhuman strength.  

"I'll stay." Matsui said and unsheathed the sword given by Echo. "Let the adults handle it."

"I'll be back." Chouji said and ran towards the ship. 

"We may not look like it but the way of the sword runs in our blood." Akiyama said proudly.

"Honor and nobility. That code still runs in our family. The code of the samurai." Matsui continued.

"Then let's do this together." Haeckel slowly unsheathed his two katanas.

Ernst Haeckel was reborn! Not in another world but to his past life however,he did not retain any of his memories nor had a cheat system. He lived his life as a prestigious scientist until the apocalypse occurred and zombies plagued the world.

As his deployment came near the people in his platoon started to bully him even more. Every night he would get even more sad. To the point that he started to have nightmares about how his family died. He quickly caught depression.
     The depression eventually developed into anxiety and more symptoms.  When he had gotten depression everyone started to bully him relentlessly.  He had even got paranoia to the point that he couldn't even sleep at night.
     The training was still going on making sure everyone was ready for the battles to come. During their training they would run miles and do shooting practices. At training they had basic carbines and sharp katanas except for Hakumi all he got was a damaged dull sword. That sword wouldn't be able to cut anything.
     Days draw even closer and closer and even less food was available to the men due to it going to the forces attacking Europe. There was a point to where almost everyone was going to die. The luckily the United states of America started to send convoys of food to Japan. 
     Then as the Japanese high command was listening to the radio to see how the war effort was they heard the worst thing. "India has capitula..." The radio then suddenly shut off. Luckily Japan was having a better time pushing back the Russians.
     Then they heard bomber sirens meaning enemy bombers incoming. The bombers were the Prussians escorted by fighters. Tokyo was being bombarded. The day after the bombing it had been confirmed thousands dead. This had in turn demoralised a lot of Japanese solider. 
     In Hakumies platoon many people committed suicide. Later notes were found saying that there family's died. That they had no reason to live on Hakumi laughed "Cowards my family had died" then started to cry.

"What do you think about Tokuwaga Ieyasu?"

The man asking the question was a samurai swordsman with long indigo hair tied into ponytail and indigo eyes. He wore a traditional light purple umanori hakama and kimono, light purple [tabi] and black [geta] with purple [haori] and [tekkou] and carried his sword, [Monohoshi Zao] on his back.

"I think that he should be eliminated as soon as possible, I sense disdain in his eyes when he looks at Kiyohime-san. In his territory, there are no foreign existences; even the church established by Nobunaga was demolished at a later date."

A tall man with an athletic build, wearing tight ninja outfit, two short swords on his back and a square-like head-guard. He had light greenish eyes and spiky black hair; his face held a stoic expression as he gazed at his partner.

"The Buddhist temples were also destroyed by him. He doesn't want foreign interference in the country; his plans and thought process is bad for the country."

"Japan is developing at such a fast pace due to the Master's hard work and vision; his ideals are completely opposing to ours. The growth production value, arms value, foreign trade value, technology value, etc.; have improved due to the foreign influence."

"People of our country must explore more and adapt quickly; the birth rate within the country is already over low while the death rate is very high. Our country is underpopulated and it is all because of the ongoing conflicts between the [Shogunate]."

"Master's plan was able to put a stop to this meaningless fight. The various religions established within the country help in acquiring information about the world. We can't allow him to destroy all that Master has spent centuries in making."

"We will have our chance, no matter what he truly is a brilliant tactician and Master-mind. He has also earned the loyalty of Honda Tadakatsu, one of the "Four Heavenly Generals", undoubtedly the greatest warrior in all of Japan."

Honda is a patient and loyal samurai. He has a loyalty that is similar to that of Diarmuid, as noted with him serving her shogun, Tokugawa Ieyasu. This does not, however, mean that Tadakatsu lacked pride or confidence. He wore a helmet adorned with the antlers of a deer so he could be seen and recognised by any enemy or ally.


"Master wants to recruit such a person, but as a Samurai, he is very loyal to Ieyasu. We have to wait for the perfect moment to strike and also earn his loyalty."

"Ohh...? Does the master has a plan?"

"Yes, but first we have to go to [Kyushu] and help the Tachibana family to fight against Akechi and Shimazu. We must recruit Tachibana Muneshige within the ranks of the Gerard family elites."

Tachibana Muneshige, a famous samurai from the Japanese island of Kyushu during the Sengoku period. He was said to be the only person whose strength and skills as a samurai matched that of Honda Tadakatsu, and so he became known as the Hero of the West while Tadakatsu himself became known as the Hero of the East.  

At the age of 15, he was adopted by Dōsetsu, and his name was changed to Tachibana Muneshige. Before he left to start his new life in the Tachibana household, his father gave him one of his most reliable swords while telling him to accept his role as Dōsetsu's son.

During a victory banquet, he was so pleased to have fought beside his biological father in a campaign; he mistakenly addressed Shigetane as "Father".

Shigetane responded by berating and publicly disowning him, declaring that he was and always has been a Tachibana.

Dōsetsu intended on having his marry his daughter, Ginchiyo, and lead the clan, but the two ended up having a close sibling relationship instead of a romantic one. 

From his first battle, he had fought extremely well against the Akizuki and Shimazu forces. 

However, the Tachibana clan would be in dire straits against the Shimazu, both Dōsetsu and Shigetane eventually perished, former with illness and the latter committing suicide at Iwaya Castle as the Shimazu laid siege to it. 

The Shimazu then turned their attention on him at Tachibana Castle, but he defeated them during the battle and retook all the castles the Shimazu captured in their assault. 

His bravery and actions were notified to Henrik Mikaelson, while Hideyoshi led a campaign against the Shimazu and Akechi to claim Kyushu under his rule.  

According to Sarutobi Sasuke, Muneshige's strength and swordsmanship was said to have been an offshoot variation to that of Minamoto no Yorimitsu of legend. 

He has two katanas and an ōdachi that serves as his primary weapon. His Raikiri still harbours the electricity from the lightning beast that Dōsetsu was said to cut in two during that stormy day. 

His's second katana, called the Nami-oyogi Kanemitsu, has a unique one-hit kill ability against Assassin-class Servants. His third sword is the ōdachi, Gōyū Nagamitsu, which serves as his trump card among the three swords in his arsenal.

Sasaki Kojirou notes on him as being one of the three samurai during the Sengoku period to have had a human heart. Amongst the vast number of samurai in history, he is a rare find easily labelled as the most chivalrous samurai you'll ever meet. 

A true gentleman and a benevolent soul who even forgave the people responsible for his biological father's death and cared for the well-being of not just his own soldiers, but the soldiers of his allies as well.

Though a legendary warrior, he never brags about his accomplishments and is very modest about it. It is said that he never liked shouting the words "To the death!" "Crush them!" or "Charge!" to his troops or his foes because of how much he deeply valued the lives of others more than his own.

Dum-de-dum! Dum-da-dum! Drumming began to give strength to the performance. That was how the five musicians, made up of golden smoke, began. 

The golden beasts of the play began to change. The golden smoke beasts, which were swaying like a haze in the fear, were no longer shaken, and it wasn't just that. 

Ppoo-woo-woo!  Every beast began to get bigger, and their claws and teeth turned sharper and sharper. They became beasts which even Blood Werebear could not help but respond to seriously.

The First Hunter is a short Korean, action-fantasy novel situated in a post-apocalyptic world. Monsters start appearing out of nowhere and people are unlocking strange powers. Those who unlock such powers are called ‘Hunters’, ones with the strength to kill the monsters. To fight and survive, that is their goal. Society crumbles and the world burns.

A very fun novel that dives into the plot almost instantly. The novel is interesting in a way that it depicts a lot of human nature and what people would do in a situation such as this is quite an accurate manner. The character development is also very good as you get to learn about the characters, their backgrounds, and their stories. All in all, this is another novel I’d recommend to a lot of readers who are interested in reading fantasy and gaming novels.
