After Irene stepped forward at the private farming space, she felt the density of ethernano in this place. In her mind, she could cast big spells consecutively without running out of fumes or ethernano in her body because of the density of ethernano in this place.

"Where are we?" She asked me.

"We are at a farming space that I gained from the orb." I said.

Irene was surprised and the notion that a God gave me such a rule-breaking treasure, is getting stronger in her mind.

"Well, the orb refer to itself as the system. The system would give me missions at my own discretion and reward me for it." I said. I haven't seen the quest back at the world if Nanatsu no Taizai but I know that it is related to being a bar master or building another bar or maybe finding rare ingredients.

Irene nodded and knew that she would never understand how that orb works. Instead of dwelling her thoughts on it, she instead took a look at the farming space. She could see that there are lots of space and in the middle of it all, is a small sapling. She can feel the sapling emitting vitality even if she is far away from iit Seeing her gaze, I told her what kind of sapling it is.

"That, right there, is a sapling of the tree of life." I said and Irene is shocked. She had heard about the Tree of Life from his father. He said that it was once the home of the peaceful elves but was razed to the ground by an unknown reason and the mastermind for razing it being unknown.

"W-where did you get that sapling? H-how? It just doesn't make sense...." Irene stuttered after seeing it.

"You remember when we took the kids to Alvares? I got it from an old man who sells different kinds of plants. He gave me a small box, a family heirloom he says, after beating up a local tyrant. As for how his family got it, I have no idea.

When I opened it, System informed me what kind of seed it is and placed it here in this space because it told me that, if I want to grow it, then it needs a land surrounded by dense ethernano and this place fits the bill." I said as Irene looked at me for a second and thought that my luck is crazily incredible.

'You just saved an old man and you got a seed of the Tree of Life? If that's not luck or fate, I don't know what it is.' Irene thought 

"Then what are you going to plant in this place? Its a waste if you are just going to plant ordinary crops here." Irene said as I smiled.

"I plan to plant extremely rare crops in here maybe after getting seeds from other worlds." I said and thought of planting pseudo-devil fruits here before taking it off my mind and continued.

"But we'll do that if the kids want a vacation of sorts." I said while thinking. 

When we returned from Nanatsu no Taizai's world, I have realized that I'm not the previous me anymore, that I can just travel other worlds without a care in the world but, I have a family now and spending time with them is the most important thing I could do for myself and my family. Family comes first and getting stronger comes second. Strength will naturally come to me and there is no need to rush for it. With the system, reaching the peak is just another step on what I really wanted in life.

'Now that I thought of it, I haven't spent some time with my daughters lately. Maybe I could go bring them to Niku town and have them play with the farm animals. I also have to bring back farm animals to raise by myself.' I thought. 

Relying on the system for basic ingredients, although the cost is low, it would still reduce the amount of points I'm getting.

I took Irene's hand and teleported back to our room. Irene told me to look after the kids for a while because she said she kind of felt weak and sleepy. I don't know her situation but it looks like its taking a toll on her body and the thought of going back to WoD is getting stronger at the moment. I let her take a rest and went to the garden to spend time with my kids.

When I went to the Garden, I saw them chasing each other and they can't catch Pitou at all because of her innate agility. Erza and Kagura were sweating like crazy while Pitou is just chilling like a cat she is.

When Pitou saw me, she immediately ran towards me and gave me a 'V' sign and made me chuckle as she declared her victory over them.

"Come here." I motioned to the other two who were panting from exhaustion and I wiped their sweat and waved my hand as cups and water jug appeared. I poured water to rehydrate the three, though Pitou doesn't exactly need it.

"Did you have fun?" I asked them and Kagura and Erza pouted.

"No. I can't catch, Pitou." Kagura said and I looked at Erza.

"Hmph. I will catch you later." Erza said making me laugh.

"Alright, enough. Don't take it out on Pitou. You're sisters. Let's go and take a bath. I'll make something you will all like later." I said and their eyes immediately lit up. Whatever it is, as long as it is me making it, it will be super delicious.

They immediately pulled me as I chuckled seeing their reaction. It is one of the things I bought for a long time and never had a chance to use it since I bought it. An Ice Cream maker.

In terms of hygiene, one of the most helpful things invented in this Kingdom, is the soap and shampoo. I made them take a bath as I scrubbed their body. Even when I'm with them, the kids just can't help but play with water and my clothes also got wet. After they took a bath, I had them wear their clothes and took a bath myself. After that, I saw the kids waiting in anticipation as I chuckled sensing their enthusiasm.

We went back to the kitchen and I waved my hand as the ice cream maker appeared making the trio confused. 

I checked the pantry and saw all of the things I needed. I took out the cream, sugar, milk and took out the vanilla extract that I bought from the system.

I poured all of the ingredients at the ice cream maker and made them wait until it cools down. 

Somnus and Helen were walking side by side after personally inspecting the welfare of the farmers at Landbrug town. When they came to the kitchen, they saw us and the weird contraption.

Somnus and Helen greeted us.

"How is your inspection?" I asked Somnus.

"The biggest problem of the farmers at the moment are the pests that infest on the crops. I have to ask our people to hasten the research of anti-pests to alleviate our farmer's worries." He said and Kagura asked.

"Father what is pest?" She asked.

"They are creatures that make the lives of people hard." I said and Kagura seemed to understand and asked again.

"So those that took my brother from me are pests?" She asked as the mood of everyone turned somber. The family knows that I've picked up Kagura and Pitou. Its obvious.

"Yes, they are. They are unwanted by the society so people wanted to catch them." I said as I patted her head.

"Anyway. Its done. Do you want some?" I knocked on the metal of ice cream maker to take the kids mind off of it.

The kids became excited while Somnus and Helen were curious about it.

"Brother what is that machine?" Somnus asked. As an inventor himself, he became fascinated and curious about it.

"This? This is an ice cream maker. Basically a machine that produces a cool dessert." I said as I took a bowl and poured some ice cream and gave everyone a bowl of it.

Somnus was surprised at the thing called ice cream as he can feel the coldness and saw steam rising from it.

"Take a bite." I said as I scooped some up and ate it. Following my example they took a bite and were surprised and elated by it.

"Father, you're the best!" Yelled Kagura as she felt really happy eating this food. Erza and Pitou silently nodded their head in agreement.

"Brother, this is unexpected. Its really delicious! I can tell that if we will be able to mass produce that machine, our people will have another source of income making our Land prosper!" He said with excitement as I laughed seeing his reaction. I then saw Helen scooping really fast and tried to warn her but it was too late. Helen felt her head ache a little.

"Don't eat up too fast. Eating cold things really fast will make your head hurt. Take your time. There's still a lot in there." I reminded them of how brainfreeze works and the Chipmunks got scared that they started eating slowly.

 Seeing these kinds of scene. It really warms my heart that I have such family. It really is my luck to be transmigrated into this place.

A man suddenly waking up in a body of a young father with a daughter without any idea how he arrived there.

The night was long and Xhemin had nothing but questions with her.

What the heck was her grandfather up to?

And why did he have to do the Staw Serums by himself without telling her?

Xhemin continued to follow Dr. Dugmoch steps. As much as she didn't want to pry with his own adult business, the girl was kind of hesitant to leave him all alone in the dark apart from the fact that she was also a nosy cat and she wanted to know where he was going.

Later, Dr. Dugmoch halted somewhere in the forest, near a shallow cliff. He put the sack on the ground and sat on one rock doing nothing but just stared at the running water of the loch.

Xhemin on the other hand hid herself in one tree few meters from her grandfather and peeped on his next steps. Yet, few minutes had passed and all Dr. Dugmoch did was sat there calmly, staring at the open loch's running water below the shallow cliff.

"Did he come here to just sit?" Xhemin thought but then as she tried to look at her grandfather's face, she realized that he was sitting there for a purpose.

His purpose was to wait for someone.

Yes, he was waiting for someone.

But who?

Xhemin waited too, like what her grandfather did and even how quiet the place was, the waiting didn't bore her. It only made her curiosity surged up in every second that passed.

And the long wait was finally rewarded, with a big blast of surprise as Dr. Dugmoch soon stood up in haste and wave off his flashlight in the air, and Xhemin knew by then, that the latter was giving a signal for the other party that he was waiting for.

He was trying to tell the other party where exactly he was.

Then in just span of minutes, the person they had been waiting for arrived. It wasn't a single person though, they were many of them, and they were riding on weird wooden boat.

Xhemin counted ten. Yes, ten men to be exact.

One by one, the men descended from the boat. They were of different built but their arms and muscles were all toned the same, thick and muscular. They didn't have shirts on—all naked from top and their privates below were either covered by small leather pouches or shorts that were obviously threaded manually and had the same pattern of unique designs. Some of them had blood paint on their faces while others wore something in their head. They were tribesmen, or at least they looked like that, the only thing that intrigued Xhemin was, who were they and what errands do they have with her grandfather?

One of them who seemed to be the leader of the pack approached Dr. Dugmoch and as soon as they came face to face, they both extended and arm toward each other and shook it in a unique way. It was like their greetings of welcome and respect toward each other if she was not mistaken.

Then the leader spoke in a language that was not English and much to Xhemin's surprise, she kind of understand what they were talking about even though it was of different dialect.

Heck wait! Why do I understand their language?

Xhemin, surprise of the thought, gasped in awe at her own knowledge. Where and when did she learn this dialect? She seemed to understand it all, every bit of it as if it was her own or that she had learned them for quite a long time already.

"Impossible!" She whispered to herself. 

Who were this people and how the heck she learned their dialect?

Their greetings with Dr. Dugmoch didn't last a while, everyone shook hands with the latter and one particular guy who was shorter than the rest, and who seemed very familiar to Xhemin gave the doctor a tight hug. 

"It's been a long time my friend" The short man greeted him with deep adoration and respect.

"Yes it's been a long time" The doctor agreed, "I'm glad you came with them"

"The chieftain had rewarded me a leave" 

"That's good. I am very glad to have seen you doing great." The doctor replied warmly.

Xhemin tried to dig deep within her thoughts and tried to recall where she met the said person, but couldn't do so. However, judging from his actions and the way his grandfather responded to him tells off that they knew each other well.

The fact that she knew their dialect made it easier for Xhemin to understand all of their exchanges. The leader invited her grandfather for a small drink which Dr. Dugmoch didn't refuse. The group then created a mini bonfire and they sat themselves encircling the fire as they passed on a cup of drink, one at a time.

Their leader started narrating how difficult their sail had been, how they were almost caught by sea patrol and there were few small talks before the group hit off an important topic.

"So there was an also an outbreak here?" The leader asked Dr. Dugmoch.

"Yes, just few weeks ago someone came to my place to seek for the cure" Dr. Dugmoch who was well acquainted with the language too, answered the latter's question without doubt.

"Did you give them the cure?" 

"Oh God forgive me but I didn't my friend"

"Why didn't you?"

"It was a dangerous family who was seeking"

"Which family?" the short man intervened, curious of the doctor's revelation.

"The Lagdameos" Dr. Dugmoch answered as he turned to the one asking.

Just then, Xhemin understood the reason for Darryl's visit in their ranch few months ago. So, it was the Staw serum that brought the Lagdameo heir in their humble abode. 

The revelation also came as a surprise for the short man, obviously he was deeply shock by it.

"The Lagdameos?"He repeated wanting to ask further but then doctor Dugmoch only gave him a nod.

"Is that family really dangerous?" The leader turned to ask the short man to confirm the information, as if that short man right there was some kind of a walking encyclopaedia or a book.

"Yes" he answered the leader "They might be in need of the Staw Serum for their own breed of horses. It is spring time and usually at this season, the annual equestrian competition is being held. The horses that they need for the competition might be sick"

"You have a point there my friend," Dr. Dugmoch agreed as he accepted the glass of drink that had been passed on. It was his turn to drink and the old doctor drunk the whole content in just one huge gulp before passing the glass again to the one refilling it.

"So how was the maker?" The leader asked Dr. Dugmoch again.

"The maker is fine. But I had to do the Serum myself" he confessed.

The confession came as a surprise to pack as they threw Dr. Dugmoch a worried look "Why? Did something happen to the maker?" 

Suddenly Dr. Dugmoch's face turned real serious, "She hurt her arms because of an accident. But she's fine now"

Hearing the words made Xhemin realized they were talking about her. 

Maker.

That's what they call her. Was it because she was the one who discovered the Staw Serum?

"She got into an accident?" The topic hit off in the conversation and everyone around the bonfire waited for the doctor's answer as if the person they call maker was someone very important that they all had to halt what they had been doing and anticipate the answer.

"Just a little one. The maker is still a young girl and she tends to be clumsy at times" The doctor lied in order not to raise a panic with the tribesmen.

"And the Staw serum?" The leader asked cure this time.

"Right there" The doctor pointed to his sack "That should be enough"

The leader sighed in relief "Thank you. Thank you my friend. You had always been good to us"

"Your welcome. My house is always ready to help" He assured them and the group turned back to their small uninteresting talks.

Xhemin can't help but wonder how her grandfather created this type of bond to people like the one he was drinking with right now. How long did he have this relationship with them? And from where the heck these people are?

There were no tribes round their place, at least not in Hampshire. Shouldn't tribesmen be dwelling in the remotest part of the deep mountains? But these people seemed to be coming from the sea since they came in a boat. What type of tribe does cross the ocean to get supplies?

There not someone from the Manggan Tribe, aren't they?

That's way too impossible.

All the things she discovered tonight got Xhemin thinking while hiding in a tall tree. Knowing that the men were harmless, she didn't mind losing her guard while delving into her thoughts. 

"Who's right there?" A scream woke Xhemin's up from her own train of thoughts. The call came in as an unexpected surprise for her and as much as she wanted to escape, three tribesmen had blocked her way already, and heck, they were pointing bows and weapons upon her.

Can't they see she's just a little girl?

What's with the weapons and glaring eyes?

Instinct had called her to make a fighting stance ready to give in a little fight, without minding the fact that her shoulders weren't probably strong enough because of her injury. But she was determined to escape and so she will try her luck before her grandfather sees her.

However, before she can make a move, the short man came to where they were and as soon as he saw Xhemin's face, his smile widened. With a clear view now, Xhemin gaped open when came to recognize him.

"O my god!..." She almost screamed. The girl couldn't believe what she saw. It had been a very long time since she hadn't seen the man, and meeting him for the first time since forever made her teary eyed.

"…Professor Owens!" She called his name finally and plunged to his arms right away.

"And like I said, you don't have the right to dispute them either." They leisurely chatted in front of the house, going to sit in the shade of a tree as they waited for the grinding sounds to stop. "Actually, does he even step out of his workshop?"

"When he needs to."

"So you mean, he probably won't be coming out any time soon even if he was done with his piece huh."

"Probably."

"...Why didn't you tell me that earlier?!"

"Well, like I said, he can get scary sometimes..."

"I'll show you scary when the heatwaves from the sun start getting to me! Whatever, let's just go in."

"But-"

"We'll just do it quietly so he won't notice. We're cultivators you know. Or what, you don't have any confidence in your ability?"

Rong Jian led Shen Tianyu to the door of the workshop with shrunken shoulders and opened the door. Unlike old doors you expect of eccentric geniuses who don't bother with anything else, it didn't make any noise. The slipped in, making sure to close the door behind them and stalked toward the grinding noises. They saw a middle-aged man, close to being an old man but not quite there, near the fire under the chimney, his back hunched over a bench. They watched him work through a crack in the door for however long until he finished. Only then did he notice the two intruders inside his workshop.

"Who dares to enter my workshop without permission!" He shouted as he rushed towards the door with one of his glass making shears.

"Ah, wait, wait. Calm down, it's just me." Rong Jian opened the door wider and stepped in first with his hands held up in surrender. 

"Hm? It's you, little four? Then who's the other one?" The glass maker stopped and indicated behind the prince, his shears still at the ready but not as tense.

"Ah, hello Royal Glass Maker, I'm his fiancee, Shen Tianyu, though it has yet to be officially announced. I apologize for disturbing you but he told me you were the best glass maker in the kingdom so I urged him to let me come see you." Shen Tianyu also came out and bowed to him.

"Hm. Is that so. I am Se Boli, the certified Royal Glass Maker, I can make glass ware or blow glass to make ornaments." He easily believed them and put down his shear. He then turned to Rong Jian with an accusatory stare. "You should learn from her. She's dignified and composed unlike you, always looking like you'll wet your pants. How did she even fall for you?"

"Hey! Royal brothers were already bad enough, stop soiling her impression of me or you'll really make me die alone! Besides, isn't it because you've always been so fierce that I've become traumatized? And I don't wet my pants okay?!" Rong Jian complained with a red face.

Ignoring the comment of the glass maker, she asked her question. "Honored senior, is it possible for me to see some of your works?"

The glass maker completely changed his face and smiled as he greeted her. "Of course, of course. If Wangfei likes them, you can even take some with you! It would be this old one's honor to be the maker of something Wangfei likes."

"No fair. You always limit me in how much I can take. How come now it's come to her, you're so generous?" Rong Jian grumbled.

"What did you say, you brat?! Why would I give so much to you? There's no need for it and you're not advertising it anyways! Besides, what would a man like you need pretty glass pieces for?!"

"You've seen me grow up so shouldn't you be nicer to me?!"

"What, you dare to call your wife an outsider, huh?! Young lady, look at him, he's really not suited for you, you should look for someone else."

"Hah?! I never called her an outsider, I'm just stating the fact that you watched me grow up! And who would she find if I'm not suited for her? You? Look at yourself in the mirror, who would want you?! Why do you think you've been single your whole life, you eternal virgin!"

"Shut up, you're a virgin too, how dare you look down on me!"

Perhaps it was already normal to her, but Shen Tianyu walked to the table filled with glass ware as if nothing was wrong. It might be due to the normally lively atmosphere of her businesses or the Yaodu headquarters that she's so resistant to noise.

Without touching anything, for fear that she might accidentally break them, Shen Tianyu walked around the table, admiring the old middle-aged man's handiwork. Even though there wasn't much light coming through the small vent at the top of the workshop, the rays still bounced off the glass ware in resplendent colors. Some of them sparkled and others looked like they were radiating light, still others gave of rays of multiple colors.

"Senior, your works are so beautiful." She awed as she kept staring at the glass ware on the table and the different ways they refracted the light.

"Hmph. Of course, I'm certified by the royal family after all." He crossed his arms and boasted. "That's right girl, take whichever one you want. Treat it as my gift to your engagement with this little boy."

"Really? But I'll feel bad about taking such splendid works without giving anything in return, even if it is a gift."

"Don't worry about it, Tian'er. You'll soon marry into the royal family anyways so his works would all partially belong to you anyways. And since he's so nice to offer then just take it." Rong Jian jumped in to convince her.

"Then... alright. Thank you very much in advance, senior Se." Shen Tianyu walked away from the table and bowed to Se Boli before returning to pick her present.

"Hmph. Really, where did you find such a good woman?" Se Boli huffed to Rong Jian.

"I doubt anyone would really fall for you no matter your qualifications, especially women of her caliber." Rong Jian dodged the question.

Lily ran out the door all the way to the one place she felt safe. The park. There was one place at the park that she hide from other. The one place that no one knows. She found it playing as a child. She walked down in to the deep trees. The park was more of a forest than a park. Over a thousand trees cover the land. Easy to get lose if you choose to. The path cut around the park.
Half through the park she turn off in to the trees. Toward the little brook that runs the side of the path. She looked for the largest tree. The oak tree looked to be over 150 years old. The base of the tree a big boulder sat. The boulder had a carving in it center. The carving of clouds. She wondered if it had to do with the dream world. If it did than that will mean. Her thoughts leave so much to grow. This will be her place forever. Until one of the dream warriors or another dream maker comes.
She cast a simple spell to keep people out, not even the dream warriors can come in. Her little haven will stay her's. She worked to hard for this to be taken away. She reach out to the rock. It glowed bright white. She had to close her eyes. Once the light was gone there still a small hole. She got on her hands and knees crawl in. She crawled all the way back in until the light outside was gone. She put her one hand up and a single light appear. She was good. Making fire light she not good at.
She haven't had food and water. She hope it did. She looked around her sleeping bag was here but no food or water. It been along time about two years since she put anything in here. Since she needed time to put her thoughts together. The sleeping bag will come in handy but no food. She didn't thing this through. Come to the night she will stay but in the morning she will have to go back.
Marcus ran after her. He stop a few feet away from her. She stop in front of a stone. From the looks of the stone had a spell on it. If he remember thus was one of the dream space for the dream makers. These dream spaces were made for them. Once they entered there is no way to get in. He will have to wait for how long was another matter.
Anthony came to see Marcus was sitting on a large stone. He walked over to Marcus. Standing by to see the forest was quiet.
"So are you going to wait for her?" Marcus was silent. Anthony stay silent knowing that Marcus will stay and wait for her.
"So how are you feeling about all this?"  Marcus was still silent. Anthony sigh. "Well, I for one will not stay and wait. I have others to watch for but if you need to talk to some one. Just let me know." Anthony turn to talk away.
"Anthony?" He stop walking and turn to his long time friend. For just a moment it almost seem like he wasn't going to say anything. The brightest light from the sun going down. Darkness was starting to fall on the forest. Anthony turn to his friend. "Thank you for what you done for her. I will never have meet her if it wasn't for you and your wife."
Anthony smile at his long time friend. Walking back to the house Anthony thought that Marcus can't handle Lily. So before he left Anthony there he watch him. His sat on that rock watching the forest his sight was more on an old oak tree.
Lily on the other hand couldn't think of why she ran. For one she ran from her uncle, two she didn't  know how to talk to him. She just needed time to think then she will go back. A hour or two she will go back. Until than she will wait a little while. She spread out the sleeping bed and lay down. With all of the necessary run and learn to be a dream maker, things got a whole lot bigger. She try as she might sleep would not come. One hour later she finely succumb to sleep. 
Outside Marcus fatigue was catching up with him. Two nights and a day of not sleeping will do that. But he could not leave her here alone. Family was everything to him. If he had known, he would watch her in his brother's place as her father. He had heard about her mother then her grandparents. If his brother was here, he would took her back to the dream world. Her life would have been better. But he can't change the past any more than he can change her future. He to wanted to take her back to his home, but he didn't think that will do. For one his father will try to get her married and two he will use her to keep his "throne".
Lily woke up with a start. She forgot where she was.  Looking around and remembering how she got there. She got up and rolled the sleeping bag up. Place it back on its the rock shelf. She crawled out of the cave to find the morning has come to the forest. She walked to the brook to wash up.
"Morning my little niece. I hope you slept well." She stop washing her face. She didn't even hear him come behind her. She turn her head. He stand six feet away for her. Just like the time she first saw him at her school. The same black clothes and a sword on his waist. His black cloak was draped over his arm.  She stood up to face him. Fidgeting with her fingers. No words would come out. He came over to her and place his cloak on her shoulders.
"The mornings here are a bit cold. But you get use to it. Come with me. We will go back and get some thing to eat and when you are ready to talk. We will talk." Looking into his eyes there was a gentleness there that she has not seen before. She also notices he has dark circles under his eyes. She nodded to he. Together they walked out of the forest. Down the path they when. She tried to say something but she couldn't. Marcus didn't know what to say. He thought it would be easy to talk to her. He had so many things to say. 
"I understand that you been staying in the Silverthorn's household. So I would think that you like to stay there until we leave to the dream world. I would like to give you the chance to know me first before you get you know the rest of the family." He sounded like he force him self to say this. He peak her interests in getting to know him. She never really wanted to know her father's family, but now that her uncle was here. Maybe things have change for the better. For the better part of the walk back to the house. They stay quiet.
Rosemary was waiting outside on the porch. Her wild brown hair was in a messy bun. Her matter of her dressing in blue jeans and a green T-shirt. Gave her the sense of beauty. Today the look of sadness was in her eyes. Lily walked right by without looking at her. Rosemary tried to stop her but her hand came up short in touching her. She have to wait until Lily wanted to talk to her. 
They sat in silent. The air was thick with melancholy. Every body wanted to say something but no one did. Lily didn't want to talk. So she sat there playing with her food. Not saying one word she got up with her plate. Move to the kitchen. Everybody stop eating and watch her go. What can one say to someone with so many things on their shoulder. 

The world of nightmares and dreams. One girl or boy born to make dreams or nightmares happen. Very few are born in the world. Marcus walk in the dream world as a killer of nightmares. He was assign to watch the next dream maker. ‘It’ was the new dream maker, turn out to be a girl. But it was two girls not one. Marcus is in a bit of trouble.
Rosemary and Lily are best friends. The two flowers of St. Luke high school. One is fire and the other ice. The girls have never seen a dream walker much less a dream killer. If looks can kill he can. Well the girls can too. The girls cause trouble for him more and more in the days to come. The three of them can be come one team. Or so he thought.

The secret passage led the cultivators to the special shops formed by the imperial family itself to accommodate many needs of a Cultivator. Opening the wooden gate, Nik found himself entering a medical shop filled with medicinal herbs that created a thick scent that made it hard to breathe.

"Ohya? A boy? Little one, did you accidentally enter a rock gate?"

Accompanied by a warm chuckle, an extremely old woman entered Mural's view, her skin shriveled, resembling an exotic bark while her pure white hair tied into a neat bun. Her body stooped low and due to her hunched stature, she didn't look much taller than Mural himself.

Not minding the ominous aura that seemed to resemble a voracious wolf ready to strike, Nik once again called his Arrow of Water and let the old woman study him with incredulous eyes.

"Master Grand Blue asked me to look for Mister Valley Maker."

If Mural's age was enough to pique the old woman's interest, then his words were strong enough to send her into a mild shock before the old woman chuckled warmly once again. But this time, her entire demeanor had already changed.

Mural held no delusion that if he wasn't a Cultivator, his meeting with the guardian would have marked his death. After all, whether he was innocent or not, the fate of stumbling into a special shop targeted towards the cultivators was a secret that the imperial family decided to protect against normal citizens.

"Let me contact Lord Valley Maker. Would you like to wait here or look around in my humble abode?"

Mural bowed and spoke with a firm expression. 

"Thank you for your offer."

A tinge of fear seemed to be hidden within the deepest recesses of his eyes which was visible to the old woman, allowing her to feel a bit comfortable.

'He is a kid after all... too bad, his meat would have lasted a week.'

The old woman, in fact, was quite famous in the outer circles of the capital.

Boogeyman, that was her nickname. 

Following the legend of a man that used to eat and find comfort in children's flesh, the old woman soon gave life to the urban myth of the capital. But her worth to the nobles was much more than what a few commoners could provide, so, the cultivators behind those nobles let the old lady indulge in her tendencies.

Seeing the boogeyman leave, Mural's expression took a 180 and he looked around with a calm gaze. If he had shown a calm exterior in the face of an old monster, the Boogeyman wouldn't have taken long to understand that he had been hiding something.

'Even though Grand Blue and the Hydro-Gater have mutually destroyed each other, the news won't leave until a few years later. Till then, I need to tread carefully.

Saying that Grand Blue decided to teach me for my talent would be a white lie, but once his death is confirmed, I need to make a swift escape.'

Mural continued his thoughts while trying to form plans on how to reach the site of the battle and extract Hydro-Gater's variation core.

'I also need to find optimal materials for the Bow of Fire. Not to mention, I need to find soul crystals and create a makeshift soul refinery to connect with the Fire Dao without any repercussions.'

"Kid." Boogeyman's voice brought Mural out of his thoughts as he brought an impeccable, anxious expression on his face, as if, he had been extremely surprised to see her ugly face before calming himself visibly.

"Till Lord Valley Maker graces us, why don't you tell me your story?"

Her wide smile, in turn, graced Mural with her dirty yellow teeth, and yet, Mural was nothing but calm inside.

The condition of the flesh was the last thing that could affect him. Living for more than 300 years, Mural had already straightened out his priorities. While he may be a cold-blooded killer that won't hesitate to strike man or woman alike, Mural, instead, saw his actions as a means to an end.

If killing brought him closer to his plans, kill he shall.

Gulping loudly, Mural slowly started describing how he had met his Master, the Grand Blue, while he was resting under the shade of a tree. To keep the Boogeyman from asking a lot of question, he immediately continued how his entire body was covered in a black robe/hood while he also told her that Grand Blue asked Mural to look for Valley Maker if Grand Blue did not contact him after a whole month.

In fact, Mural had decided to enter the Inner Capital because the day his supposed Fiancee decided to become the consort of the Second Prince, the very same day, a whole month would have passed after Grand Blue's disappearance and the death of the Hydro-Gater.

The youth's and the old woman's chat was short-lived because an old man finally made his appearance after a few minutes, his wizened visage seemed to remain unaffected by the Boogeyman's physical condition while his eyes immediately observed Nik with focused intent.

After a few minutes, the old man finally spoke up.

"Are you Grand Blue's disciple?"

"My master is Grand Blue, yes."

Mural bowed deeply while he once again showed a nervous expression, and yet, the old man only narrowed his eyes and kept observing Mural before asking one more time.

"Water is?"

"Wet."

Nik spoke up almost instantly. This phrase was something Grand Blue was known for and his actual disciples all wrote that how Grand Blue would keep on making them repeat the same phrase in their biographies.

In fact, the same phrase was also etched over the Hydro-Gater's corpse.

"Hmm... come with me. We have much to discuss, little one."

The old man smiled kindly while he immediately took Mural's hands and brought him out of the shop and allowed Mural to finally witness the inner capital, at least, for the first time, in this life.

Being a transmigrator, somehow, my entire nature defied the heaven's will. Somehow, deep down, my spirit had already come into contact with the dao of space and time.

Maybe... I am not destined to die?

But then again, I am not much of a fan of the concept... no, dao with the title Fate.

I remember this pull... this tug that can affect my soul. Honestly, I thought that the world itself was disgusted by me.

But now, at least, I have come to understand that the world has already found its own devil.

Within moments Herah and Co. appeared in a forest.

To be more specific, the group appeared above the forest.

"Shit!"

"The hell!"

"Ash!"

"OH MY GODS!"

Everyone yelled as they began to fall towards the forest floor. Luckily for Herah, her reflexes kicked in and with a flip and quick unfurling of her wings, Herah caught herself before the canopy could engulf her. Unluckily for everyone else, Herah was the only one who could fly so the other three fell into the canopy. The youngling spent a few moments observing the forest tops, looking for anything that could be seen as a threat, before swooping down into the canopy herself.

After breaking through the treetops, Herah found Alex, Max, and the gnome on the forest floor, seemingly waiting for her. After landing, Herah checked everyone over to see if they had sustained any damage from the fall, and after seeing none Herah asked them about it.

"How did you guy's get down here safely?" Herah gave the group another look over," None of you look too durable."

"I lied." Max said.

"I told the truth." Alex said.

"I created." The gnome said.

With those helpful answers, Herah rolled her eyes and asked another question.

"So I know we're in a forest, if my textbooks are anything to go by, any idea where this forest might be?" They youngling asked while looking around.

"Well," Herah found her eyes drawn to an animal that had appeared out of nowhere and was currently hanging from a low hanging branch from one of the trees.

"Huh, a sloth. What strange choice in form."

This comment came from a confused Alex and while Herah had never seen one before, the youngling thought the animal was absolutely beautiful. Before it could make another sound, Herah had snatched it off of its branch and held it in front of her face while smiling at it, her carnivorous teeth reflecting in the creature's eyes.

"You look absolutely wonderful, with your tan coat and cute little snout." Herah said her tone calm and observant, while her words weren't really focused on the sloth, "And look at your limbs, they're so long and furry and have the most beautiful claws attached to them." Herah sat the sloth in the crook of her arms, examining the claws to the best of her ability. "These three little guys help against predators, don't they?"

Herah then put the sloth back onto its branch and watched as it slowly got back into its hanging position. Once finished, Herah began to talk to the sloth directly.

"So Norwe, what did you have to say?"

"You knew that was Norwe?! Why did you pick him up like some sort of pet?!"

Herah rolled her eyes, not even looking at the overreacting human, and said,

"Yes I knew Alex, but he didn't look as threatening as before and I've never seen a sloth, as you called it, so I decided getting a closer look was a perfectly fine thing to do."

"Nice to see you two bonding," Norwe the Sloth said, their mouth, not all opening to communicate these words.

"What the-"

"He is a Maker sis." Alex droned out.

Herah gave Alex a sideways glance, the youngling getting an annoyed glare in return. Herah looked back at Norwe and stated,

"Yeah, no."

Norwe the Sloth shrugged, before dragging itself into a sitting position atop of its branch and holding its arms out towards Herah.

"Carry me."

"Why?"

"You're going to take me to what you are going to be doing."

Herah looked at the other three there, getting a confused shrug from Max, a nervous smile from the gnome, and a terse nod from Alex. Herah turned back to Norwe the Sloth, thought what the fuck and picked them up, holding the sloth Maker in the crook of her arms. Norwe then pointed where they needed to go, and Herah began to walk that way, the others following shortly after.

For a while the group traveled in silence, allowing Herah to appreciate the nature that was so rarely seen by those who weren't hunters from her world. One of the few things that really stuck out to Herah was just how green and red everything was. From the plants, bushes, and small trees that littered the floor to the massive trees, with there numerous branches and vines, that reached up to the sky, all of it was either completely green or had green leaves with red bark. The trees blocked out huge bits of the sun with their leaves, but allowed just enough sunlight to enter, that the traveling quintet didn't have too much difficulty traversing through the forest floor.

Another thing that Herah noticed about the forest was its lacking in something that Herah thought was a mainstay for any massive area with lots of plants. This thing was the forest's seeming lack of life other than the plants. Herah had sniffed the air to check as they were walking and found that the forest had no form of animal scent in it. Which was strange due to how some trees showed scratching in certain areas while the ground was paved as if regularly traveled by something.  Adding to this train of thought, was the fact the group had walked through several clearings that could have only been destroyed by something like an animal, with all plant life in them destroyed and dead. Each one had a pungent rotting smell that caused Herah to use Rompu upon her nose so as to not pass out.

"Hey bro," Max began, Herah directing her thoughts from the last destroyed clearing the group had walked through to the human, "What exactly is a Maker? You mentioned them a few times but have never gone into detail about it."

"Well my wonderful Liar," This answer coming from the resident Maker, "Makers are a group of beings with the capability to create and manage universes."

"No shit."

"The hell, Herah!?"

"That was an obvious statement and you know it."

"But-"

"You should learn to lighten up around me Soothsayer," Norwe shifted in Herah's hold until facing behind the youngling, "I'm not the type of Maker to erase those creations that insult me."

Norwe returned to their original position in Herah's arms before extended their arm to the point in which it could reach Herah's head and began to pet her.

"I find it rather entertaining." Norwe then turned back to Max, "The biggest difference between a Maker and other beings that can create universes is the way in which we do it."

"What's the difference?" Max asked, not too sure of what the answer was going to be.

"Presence."

"What-"

"We're here," Norwe said making it sound as if their voice was meant to have excitement.

The group exited the dense forest and entered another small clearing. This clearing, unlike the others, was filled with living plant life. It had grass and a few peculiar flowers growing around. The plants were peculiar due to the fact that half of them glowed white, while the other half glowed black. The plants grew in no particular order or pattern, with their being groups of only black or white, groups that had a mixture of the two, or just flowers by themselves. In the center of the clearing was a tree.

"That tree looks like a Donneur de Frêne. Wait a second." Herah dropped Norwe, getting a yelp out of the Maker, and pointed at the tree in question, "That is a Donneur de Frêne!"

The tree was quite a bit smaller than all of the other full grown trees in the forest, about half their size in fact, and its trunk was much smaller than the surrounding trees as well. The tree also had a shape that was quite different. The five largest branches of the tree were spread out in the shape of a star, with their grey leaves gathered at their flat heads creating clusters of leaves that looked dense enough to be sat upon.  Above this branches were a slightly slimmer branch that created a large bush as the treetop for the tree. There were a few other branches, the closes one to the ground being about six meters from the ground, each with leaves gathered at their very tips. The tree itself had smooth grey bark with several large knot-shaped objects running along its trunk, no real order or structure to them at all.

"Why is this tree called an ash giver?" Alex asked, being one of the two others there who understood Herah's language.

Herah walked up to the tree and gave it a sound kick. As a result, the entire tree shook, causing the leaves to began dropping ash onto the round, this included Herah.

"We call them as you said, ash giver because these trees have leaves that drop highly flammable ash that tends to seep into the nearby soil, causing local plants around them to become black and white."

Herah then reached up and grabbed one of the knot-like objects on the tree. After a slight pull, the knot came off causing a bit more ash to come off the tree. Herah lifted the knot towards the four others there, who had gathered a fair distance behind sans Norwe. The Maker Sloth currently crawling past her.

"Where I come from its rather dangerous to try to harvest these fruit from Donneur de Frêne if you don't have any type of resistance or immunity to fire or heat, due to how anything flammable will ignite rather quickly on my planet."

Herah gave the air a quick lick, before shaking her head and continuing.

"That shouldn't be too much of a problem here, this planet is too cool to cause any sort of ignitions to the ash naturally."

"Well enough of your talking Artist," Herah turned to Norwe the Sloth, who had finally made it to the tree and was crawling up the base. After that sentence, Norwe said nothing else until they reached one of the branches. After two minutes, Norwe the Sloth had finally reached their branch and was now hanging from it.

"Where was I?" the Maker Sloth began, "Oh yeah, so what you guys will be doing for this trial is protecting this," Norwe gave the tree a slight smack, causing more ash to fall onto Herah, "From a clan of Oni."

"What the ash are those?"

Alex gave Herah a strange stare, probably at her word choice.

"Big, ugly, and cruel Japanese demons."

"Thanks jackass, I definitely know what the fuck Japanese is." Herah sarcastically replied.

"You seem to understand the concept of demons, however."

"Fuck off."

"Excuse me," Norwe's smooth voice interrupted the two, causing Alex to immediately clam up in fright, "Thank you."

"Now this group of Oni you will be facing is very different then you're used to, in the cases of my Liar and Soothsayer, or something you've never faced, in the cases of my Artist and Creator."

The Maker Sloth then sat up and created an image of what Herah presumed to be on overview of the forest they were currently in.

"Exactly 20 centuries, 405 years, 36 months, 15 weeks, 56 days, 30 hours, 40 minutes, and 8 seconds ago, I created life only plant life on this planet. It grew without issue for 15 of these centuries before I introduced the Oni to spice things up a bit." Norwe directed their attention to Max, who was now slightly in front of Herah, raising her hand, "Liar, do you have a question?"

"Um yeah, what's up with the wonky times?"

Norwe the Sloth tilted their head to the side slightly, bemusement at the human's statement somehow clearly communicated through their expressionless face.

"What makes you think that every universe conforms to your ideas of time or even the same laws as yours?"

"Oh."

Norwe slowly waved the human off, saving everyone time by speaking as they did the motion.

"Anyway, the way these Oni spiced things up was through their intense hatred of any plant that doesn't have a certain strand of DNA found in most plants here. That's why those clearings we walked through earlier were wrecked, the native Oni had gotten to them before you arrived."

Norwe then used one of the claws on their arm that still hadn't completed its wave, to tap a small spot on the map that they had created earlier. A purple dot was left in the hand's wake.

"Oh, that's definitely not freaky."

Herah mentally agreed with Max, the pair looking at where a giant purple beacon had appeared in front of where they were facing on what appeared to be a distant mountainside.

"That's where the Oni reside." Norwe the Sloth held up one of their paws "In three days time, these Oni will set out to destroy this tree, and I made sure of this by removing every other tree that didn't have the strand from this planet. It took a while, but I got all of them," Norwe the Sloth paused briefly, "I think. Anyway, it should take them a few hours to reach you after they began their march."

Norwe the Sloth dropped down from the tree onto the ash covered ground. The Maker Sloth then lifted their body into a sitting position and addressed the gathered gifted.

"Now before I go, I need to tell you the two rules I have for Recompense."

The four gifted all perked up in response to this, none really knowing that there were rules to the acts.

"No killing of teammates and no attempts to escape. That's all." And with those words, Norwe the Sloth disappeared.

With the Maker now gone, Herah heard Alex release a breath. Herah turned to face the human, everyone else there already doing the same. Alex seeing that all attention was on him began to speak,

"Well if we're going to be working together, we need to be able to coordinate ourselves properly."

Herah had an itching feeling of what was about to happen.

"So we're going to need a leader."

Herah held up a hand.

"What?" Alex replied, clearly not amused.

"I know what you're going to say, so tell me," Herah pointed at Alex, "You don't plan on trying to lead us, do you?"

"What's your problem with that?" Alex said, a noticeable air of restraint in his voice.

"What, have I not gotten across the point that your bitchy behavior from not even a minute ago pissed me off? I'm not following someone who seems to lose all of their willpower at the drop of a hat."

"I show the respect that someone of Norwe's status deserves, unlike you!"

Herah growled back at Alex, before pointing an accusing finger into the air.

"Respect is earned not given, and that Maker Sloth hasn't done shit except show themselves as someone who obviously doesn't deserve to have the power that they do! They erase the universe of the loser of this bullshit tournament just because they think it makes for proper motivation and entertainment!"

Herah then took her raised finger and jabbed it at Alex, her expression becoming all the fiercer as her anger was fully directed towards Alex.

"And I know you know this, but you're so weak-willed and minded that you'll just roll over if it means survival. Why? Why are you so afraid of speaking your Flamme forsaken mind, you fucking bitch!"

Alex began to humorlessly laugh, stomping up to Herah with contempt in his eyes. After reaching her, Alex gave Herah a vicious smile, his eyes looking up at Herah with twinges of amusement. In response Herah glared down at him, her expression filled with anger.

"Why the fuck should I share my mind with fodder?" Alex said, his smile becoming all the more menacing at the words that left his mouth.

Herah let out a snarl, grabbing the human and lifting him up to her height. Alex mirrored Herah's expression even as the youngling began to shout,

"You lack the surprise you had when we first met, do you really think you can take me now?"

Before the two could get any further, Max walked up to Herah and put her hand on the youngling's scaly arm.

"Now guys," Max began, "Let's not get into any fights with each other. You two obviously need to cool down, so why don't we separate for a bit and meet back here once both of you have chilled out?"

Herah almost didn't listen to Max's words, but one of her damn smiles left the youngling unable to feel any sort of anger.

"Okay Max," Herah took a deep breath "I'll do exactly that."

With those words, Herah dropped Alex, turned away from the group and began to go her own way.

Herah paused at the soft sounds of metal bouncing off of metal was heard approaching her. Herah turned back to see the gnome running towards her causing her brow to raise as the small creature stopped in front of her. The Cendreux stared down at the gnome, the small human-like creature staring back up at the youngling.

"Though you don't seem to know a lot, you do seem to wear your heart on your sleeve." The gnome gave Herah a shy smile.

The gnome then looked away, twiddling their thumbs and feet.

"Plus, it's a bad idea to just hang out by yourself here. Never know what might get you."

Normally, Herah would have felt insulted by the implication that her skills weren't up to snuff, but the way the gnome acted reminded Herah too much of her younger self for the youngling to be irritated.

Herah softly sighed, before asking,

"If you're coming with me, I can't keep thinking of you as "the gnome". What's your name?"

"I'm Owen, Owen Vulcan." Owen shyly stated.

Owen held out their hand, "Nice to meet you."

Herah shook Owen's tiny hand with her much larger one, the one unoccupied by the fruit from earlier. The youngling's grip and shake much gentler than how it normally was.

"I'm Herah, Herah War Hej."

Then Herah released his hand and began to leave, the gnome following suit as Herah finished her greeting.

"It's a pleasure to meet you as well."

Meanwhile still inside the martial shrine, Ling Yue was completely unaware of the arrangements made by the family head and the others.

It's been four to five hundred years since the martial shrine was first established. As soon as she entered this place, her sight was quickly dazzled by the furnishings across the board. And to the side of the door was an incense stick made out of Vitality Condensing Grass placed inside a gold plated cauldron, making the residents feel refreshed upon entry.

Inside the boundaries of Da Xia, normal medical and scholarly books are usually printed on paper, but martial techniques on the other hand will only be carved onto stone tablets for preservation.

As such, there are many stone tablets placed along the shelves inside the martial shrine, small and large, they are constructed from a variety of different materials. And unlike the adults, the children of the Ye clan cannot directly take out the stone tablets here and can only make a copy when needed.

Giving a quick run down, Ling Yue found the kungfu techniques on the first floor to be of very poor quality, making them insignificant to her eyes.

Not hesitating, she made her way upwards to the second floor. There aren't a lot of stone tablets here, probably around twenty ninth grade techniques by a rough estimate. Even so, these twenty tablets were accumulated through the hard work and efforts of many generations of the Ye family.

Giving a scan across the shelves, Ling Yue quickly found the Lightning Burst Fist tablet among the many here. What's more, after making a round through the floor, she also located some other techniques like the Blazing Fire Whip, Bone Crushing Claw, and Sky Clearing Footstep and so and so on.

Despite the variety, these martial techniques didn't interest Ling Yue in the least.

"Squeak." While Ling Yue remains hesitant over her indecision, Little Squeak had by then snuck up to one of the shelves. Using his tiny little paws, Little Squeak rummages through the bunch and pushes a thumb sized tablet down to her.

Hurrying to catch the tablet before it lands on the floor, Ling Yue then grabs for the little trouble maker before second uncle finds out.

"Jade Flower Hand." With only a glance at the martial tablet in her hand, Ling Yue's mouth curled into a smile.

Every generation of the Ye family are martialists, how come there's something as artsy as this here?

Because of that reason, Ling Yu's attention was deeply attracted to it. Surprising her, the technique inscribed on this stone was in fact an eighth grade!

According to the stone tablet, it's said that if the Jade Flower Hand was to be mastered, the strength it produces would far exceed that of the average eighth grade technique out there.


There may be only a one word difference between an eighth grade technique and a ninth grade technique, but in reality it was huge.
