"Are you sure I can't convince you to stay and be one of my Stallions?" the doctor asked.
I grimaced and shook my head. "Sorry Doc, you seem nicer than I expected, but this isn't my cup of tea."
"Oh, don't misunderstand my dear boy. I am not as nice as I seem. While I considered simply breaking you, I must admit the light bondage play and reversal of roles was rather nice, and the fact that you are so vastly different than what you were meant to, has me curious."
"Yeah, the leather and chains thing isn't my jam. Maybe on Halloween, I might dress up, but otherwise, I'm pretty vanilla."
The doctor had a frown on their face and their head was cocked slightly to the side. "Sweetie, I have no idea what you are talking about. This really is rather fascinating. My curiosity is actually exceeding my carnal desires. I can hardly contain myself!"
I backed away a step from the table. Doc may have said their curiosity had exceeded their carnal desires, but it did not appear that way. "On that note, I think it is time for me to go. Will you be alright there Doc?"
"Oh, yes. Although, if you don't mind, I would appreciate it if you shoved the underwear back in my mouth before you go. It really sets the mood," they said with a perverse grin on their face.
I just nodded and grabbed the leather banana hammock. "Nice to meet you Doc. Thanks for the body and good luck with Rocko there."
"Do remember to drop in and visit. Maybe next time you can tie me up instead of using the restraints. I'm sure I programmed that into you."
"Yeah, I noticed that as well, but there was no rope and I was in a hurry." I held the leather up to the Doc's mouth.
"I'll make sure I have some on hand next time you visit," they said and bit down a burning desire evident in their eyes.  I am so ready to exit this place.


The night air is brisk, but it feels like a gentle caress compared to the torment of nothing. The good doctor was right, there were better fitting clothes upstairs. Mostly in the form of costuming, but I eventually found something usable. Leather pants, a tunic and set of boots that looked like they were from the set of Pirates of Penzance, and a light cloak that had a number of hidden pockets in it.
Some of the pockets had items in them that I very deliberately left behind while hoping to find a bottle of hand sanitizer. I replaced the lewd items with more practical ones I found around the room. I'm sure the good doctor wouldn't mind. I'd leave some coins, but it would like paying them with their own money, so I didn't bother. The last item I took, was a dagger. It wasn't much, but a boy needs protection in this dangerous world.

That's interesting. I wonder if there is a limit in the number of levels in any given class? I was about to ask Alexa when I noticed people watching me. It was then I realized the Pancing Stallion wasn't in the best of neighborhoods. 
Time to scoot. Take firm purposeful strides, exude an aura of 'don't fuck with me,' and run my ass the Hell away from here. I need to find a place to sleep tonight. Holy crap, I can sleep! I haven't been this excited since I learned I could talk. That was almost an hour ago. 

I wandered for a bit until I spotted what looked like an inn. Raucous laughter spilled from the taproom and air stank of stale beer, sweat, and lust. The inside was exactly as advertised. The heavy wood furniture guaranteed that if a fight broke out bones would be broken. The barmaids were busty and weren't shy about advertising. The clientele was grimy and did have a fuck to give. 
I schooled my face to keep from gawking like a tourist and walked to the bar. The barman was burly and the rag he polished the glasses with wasn't very clean. I lean in. "I'm looking for a bite to eat and a room for the night." 
He grunted. "Dinner is done, but I can ask Hannah if she can scrape together a bowl. That'll be a small copper. The room will be five large copper for the night. Don't start any problems or you'll be thrown out and we'll be keeping the coin." 

Transaction complete I took my door token and found a seat. A few minutes later a bowl of what could only be described as slop was set down in front of me. "It tastes better than it looks," a sweet voice promised. 
I looked up into a pair of emerald green eyes and felt my mouth water for reasons entirely unrelated to the food on the table. Crimson locks cut into a pixie bob framed an elfen face and contrasted with the green of her eyes. Pert breasts and a slim waist gave her a lithe appearance different from the other barmaids busting out busts. 
"I don't know, looks pretty good from where I'm sitting." It was a cheesy line delivered with a straight face while I stared into her enchanting eyes. Her eyes sparkled and her tail twitched. Tail? 
That's when I noticed. Peaking out near the crown of her head between the scarlet tresses were two triangular furry ears. She was a catgirl. A real live cat girl. My pants shrunk two sizes instantly. Well, how about that, I guess I have a catgirl fetish. 
She noticed and her bewitching lips twitched into a slight smirk. Her wide eyes smoldered and she picked up the room token on my table and examined it. "You know you shouldn't let people see which room you're staying in unless you're inviting them in," she said and placed the token in my hand closing my fingers over it. She caught my gaze and held it for a moment before turning and walking away her tail swishing back and forth.

Northerners.
They were a very interesting regional race. Their physical features were a bit like the Siberian race— relatively large physique and lush hair. Most of the men in the north were brave and belligerent. Because of the cold and long-term need for strong liquor, blood circulation, and heating, the people there liked to fight more. Women in the north had fair skin and delicate facial features. Gloria was a representative beauty in the north.
So in the north, there would be both funny and ironic things. The pirates there were a little bit slow. Many of them were notoriously stubborn and brainless, belonging to a group of people who were not easy to deal with. For example, when the pirate army besieged Soran in Snake Island previously, one of them was a pirate warship of northerners. When others saw that the situation was not right, they all surrendered, the northerners were the only ones who fought hard.
Because of this stubbornness, many northern pirates were very weak.
The reason was very simple; they often had in fighting as well. There was almost no strong pirate force on the whole north coast; they were all scattered into small groups. Because the trade on the north coast was mainly concentrated in Arendelle, and Arendelle had quite a powerful navy, many of the pirates in the north would cross borders to live in other waters. Although their overall strength was relatively weak, the individual capability of the northern pirates was better than the pirates of other places.
The pirates trying rob Soran were ordinary northern pirates.
However, they did have a good leading warship, which had a dragon head design. They liked this as this was inherited by the northern pirates to show their force. The Vikings were the only pirate group capable of unifying the north coast. Unfortunately, they were quite exclusive, because their beliefs rejected other northerners. They were also the only group of pirates who dared to attack Arendelle's sea fleet. For some reason, the elder princess never eliminated them.
Shouts and howls were heard not far away!
After the northern pirate warship appeared in their field of vision, immediately one of Soran's men ran to ask Soran for orders. He looked at the pirate ship in the distance and said, "lead them in!"
This time Soran brought a lot of elites. These were the men involved in the legendary naval battle. After hearing Soran's orders, they immediately understood what he meant. The leader gave orders to the others with a strange smile. They turned the ship and acted as though they were going to run. At the same time, they deliberately slowed down a bit, so that the pirates could catch up with them.
Without a doubt, the enemy fell for it.
A man with a beard and a tattoo on his chest stood under the mast of the leading warship and shouted at his men, "don't fire! Get close to them! They're not as fast as we are! "
"Get ready to board them!"
"We'll take all their goods."
The most valuable thing was not necessarily the goods on the ship. Sometimes the value of the merchant ship itself was greater than the goods. So if conditions permit, pirates still liked to fight on board to solve the enemy. In this way, they would not destroy the valuable goods on the ship, but also bring back the ship in one piece. This was what Soran's men were using to attract them and make them feel like they could catch up.
If they won.
Then Soran's ship would be theirs.
If they lost.
Then their boat would be Soran's.
The howls and shouts were getting closer and closer. The northern pirates were getting excited, yelling and howling. From time to time, some gave out battle roars. Their faces were full of excitement because they found that there didn't seem to be many people on the ship. After the two sides could see each other, the northern pirates swung hooks over to Soran's ship.
Pang!
The two ships bumped into each other.
Roughly twenty northern pirates rushed up, and there were still thirty pirates getting ready to board the ship."
"Pa, Pa!"
Soran, who had been sitting at the side clapped his hands at this time. Then immediately a large group of fierce pirates in the cabin, with many scars on their bodies came out. The northern pirates had just come over and found that it was not a merchant ship because the sailor in front of them didn't show any fear, nor any sense of tension.
Soran's men even licked their swords out of excitement as though they were tigers licking their fangs.
A massive pirate with an ax weighing nearly 100 pounds rushed over. He was the captain of the ship. He seemed to have some other lineage, as he was roughly two meters tall. He howled excitedly, splitting one of the northern pirates into two with a wave of his ax, and then roared, "Kill these idiots! You've come to your death! "
"Raise the flag!"
"Let these idiots die with peace of mind!"
All of a sudden, the pirates who rushed out of the cabin were extremely fierce. Only one round of attack and the northern pirates were losing. Then a pirate reached out to raise the flag, while the others rushed to the opposite pirate ship. Of course, Soran's men were not only going to push the northern pirates back; they were going to take their ship.
A black flag was raised!
And there was chaos on the other ship. Some recognized the flag and shouted in shock, "It's the Throat Cutter! A pirate king of the south!"
Chaos occurred.
The northern pirates seemed to have been scared; then with Soran's men rushing in, they immediately well apart.
Up until now, Soran had no need to battle. The elite pirates he brought back from the outer islands had crumbled the enemy after two rounds of attack. Some of the enemies had even thrown away their weapons and surrendered. However, this proportion was significantly less than that of the southern pirates who surrendered in battle. Even though they were obviously weaker, a lot of the northern pirates still wanted to fight. This may have had something to do with their traditions. Many people in the north admired the idea of dying in battle, believing that a soul that was killed in battle was nobler than that of ordinary death.
However, the southern pirates would rather live than be killed in battle!
Swoosh!
Soran didn't join the boarding process. His identity was different now, and he couldn't just rush into the front line. However, he also needed to gain some Slaughter EXP, so after the battle began, he took out the bow Dark Blade gave him. It was really fun shooting with a bow in a naval battle. Soran specially selected the wounded enemy pirates to shoot at; with his great foundation, the chance of hitting this kind of enemy was high.
Of course, he also had the lucky coin, which permanently gave him +1 luck.
Soran killed the pirates one by one. Although he didn't have a good command of the bow, it didn't matter to him if he accidentally killed his own men; he could still get Slaughter EXP either way. Fortunately, this did not happen. Soran continued to kill seven or eight pirates, and then shot all the northern pirates who fought to their death.
The battle had ended.
The whole process was less than ten minutes.
Soran now had another warship!
"Bring the men you've captured for questioning."
Soran frowned and looked at the blood on the deck. Then he put his bow away and said, "let's see if we can find out anything useful. Also, clean the bodies up and the blood on the deck. I don't want to encounter any more problems after this."
"Yes, your excellency," answered the big pirate with the heavy ax politely.
Then when he turned around and shouted to other minions to clean up the body. His expression was quite fierce and arrogant. As the elite pirates under Soran's command, many of them had a strange temper, but no matter how strange their temper was, these people were respectful in front of Soran.
There were pirates cleaning the ship, collecting the spoils from the corpses, and men checking on the northern warship. Behind the deck were a bunch of captured enemies, and next to them were the elite pirates who were watching over them with strange smiles. There was a ferocious questioner who was torturing them, and sometimes there were screams.
After a few minutes, the pirate doing the questioning came over and whispered something to Soran.
Immediately Soran stood up and said, "Dragon?!"
"You sure he was not lying?"
Standing in front of Soran was an ugly and ferocious pirate. He beat his chest and promised, "Your Excellency! With my many years of experience, I would know if they were lying. Some of our men also heard something similar. These guys came here because of that reason. "
"Really?" Soran nodded and went into deep thought.
After some time, he looked at his men and said, "Do not leak this information. Even though it's only an adult White Dragon, this might still be something we should deal with!"

The Time of Troubles has begun.

"Pirates?" they thought. 

"We should check the deck", said Li Gang. 

The two of them quickly walked up to the deck and looked out. Groups of sailors rushed about carrying crates of ammunition. Cannons were wheeled out and placed on the right side of the deck, facing the small group of ships. These cannons were different from any ordinary ones, a large yellow gem was embedded to the barrels of each cannon. If one was to examine it closely, they would find that these gems were filled with the energy of lightning. 

"Thunder Cannons! and so many! What sort of pirates could we have encountered?" Li Gang questioned. 

One of the sailors noticed them and walked up.

"Dear guests, please stay inside! These are the Skulldrop Pirates, unless you want to defend this ship with us, we advise you to stay in", he said. 

After speaking, loud cracks resounded through the sky as the Thunder Cannons shot out streaks of bright yellow. A perfect arc made its way towards the pirates, landing on one of the ships. On impact, a bright flash colored the sky as lightning crashed down, burning parts of the ship. 

The pirates fought back with their own shots. These were unlike the thunder cannons however, they were ordinary steel balls that sunk itself into the ship, weighing it down and slowing them. 

"Damn bastards! Shoot! Shoot! Give them hell for attacking a ship of the Blue Skies Caravan!" the captain yelled from his cabin. A scruffy man that wore a white sailor uniform commanded his men. 

Many of the passengers stayed in their rooms as suggested, none of them were great fighters and those who were could not do a thing in a battle of this scale. However, Ming Yue wanted to help, she defended the ship with Li Gang, who had already pulled out his great sword. They knew that the pirates would reach them and board.

The captain turned the ship around, trying to lose the pirates but it was in vain. The gap between the ships grew closer and closer until they were only a hundred meters apart. The cannonballs from the pirates had slowed them down.

A closer look at the ships had shown Ming Yue why these pirates were named Skulldrop. Almost every part of the ship had some skull decorating it, from humans to beasts, there were skulls all over. Furthermore, each one had something engraved on it, a character of some sort. It resembled something from a nightmare. 

Giant chained harpoons shot out of the pirate ships and gripped onto the hull. They had the teeth of a number of beasts put into the chains. Attempting to pull the chains out could cause a lot of damage and walking on them was near impossible to do. More cannon shots were exchanged between the two as the pirates started running on the chains and boarding. Their nimble steps evaded the spiked chains easily and it took mere seconds for them to board the ship.

"Bwahahahaha, take everything you see! Plunder for the Skulldrop Pirates!" a voiced out from the cabin of one of the pirate ships. 

At his command, the pirates whistled and screeched like madmen, brandishing their weapons. 

"Prepare to defend the ship!" the captain yelled. 

The sailors as well as any guards that their guests had hired to accompany them on their journey went face to face with the pirates. Metal clashed against each other as they fought for their lives. 

It was a chaotic battle. Broken pieces from the ships splintered off as the cracks of cannons sounded off continuously. Some were killed by a cannon shot, others were pushed off the ledge and fell to their deaths. The Blue Skies Caravan stopped using the Thunder Cannons as the pirates were too close to them, using those cannons would risk injuring themselves. 

Among them, Ming Yue and Li Gang joined the fight. Hei Yue and Xiao Yin helped the others, scratching and biting the pirates. They could not kill them but their actions had greatly decreased the pressure that the sailors faced. But there was no end to the pirates, a total of six pirate ships had come and over two hundred pirates boarded. There were probably another couple hundred waiting to replace their brothers. Against a force that large, Ming Yue's group of less than one hundred did not seem hopeful for victory. 

No one had expected to be attacked by pirates of such a caliber, nonetheless they managed to fend off the Skulldrop Pirates. Of everyone there, Li Gang seemed to be the most eye-catching, his great sword cleaved through a four bodies at one point. He swung with enough power to even deflect a cannonball, something that had a force of several hundred pounds. He yelled with each swing and starting using techniques to deal with them. Swords that were left on the ground by the dead bodies floated towards him before forming an even larger sword, one that was slightly bigger than his great sword. Merged, it began sweeping the ground, destroying anything in its way. 

A dao of metal! This must have been Li Gang's dao. The dao of metal was versatile, it could become anything and at the same time be firm and unbending. Weapons, armor, trinkets, toys, all of these things could be made of metal but to try and destroy it would be difficult. 

Ming Yue dealt with her opponents quickly and efficiently, moving on every time she killed. However, there must be a better way to deal with this. Then she looked at the chains that the pirates launched out. 

"You failures! Can't even take over one ship?" emerging from the cabins of the pirate ships were the captains. 

All six of them were slightly different from the others but it was safe to say that they were six brothers. 

"As the Six Dagger Fleet of the Skulldrop Pirates, we cannot fail our reputation as one of the most fearsome pirates of the sky!" one of them growled. 

All of them unsheathed their weapons, most of them had sabers but one used a sword and the other used a halberd. Each weappn was decorated in a different way, the skull of different animals were etched on the handles.

To their surprise, they did not have a chance to join their brothers for the chains they used to take ahold of the ship's hull fell one by one.  The pirates who were still fighting noticed the chains and tried to grab onto them and rejoin their crew. Some managed to make it but others were not so lucky either falling to their deaths or stuck on the Blue Skies Ship. The ship itself flew off as fast as possible, away from the Skulldrop Pirates. Released from their grasp they escaped quickly.

"What? What happened?" one of the brothers spoke incredulously. 

These chains were not top quality items but they were definitely not flimsy. Made from True Steel, a stronger variant of steel, it was a material that could not be broken so easily. Yet, the chains were cut off cleanly. 

But for Ming Yue, it was not impossible. Parting Sun is a divine ranked sword, it might not have a core but its sharpness was among the best. Cutting these chains were not very difficult but required precise control and a fair amount of strength. Any other sword cultivator would leave a sizable dent but to cut it off cleanly was a different story.

Li Gang saw her performance and was surprised. He did not think that she would just simply cut the chains off or even be able to cut them off. He re-evaluated her in his mind, at first he thought that she was a normal cultivator but her skills said otherwise. The same could be said for himself, his performance was quite enlightening for Ming Yue, who had thought that he would not be much of a help.

The Blue Skies Crew shouted with joy as they chased off the remaining pirates, tying them up and leaving them on the deck. 

The pirate ships chased after them but could not catch up, the cannonballs that were meant to slow the ship down were dealt with quickly. The crew removed them and reused them, shooting back at the pirates. This little barrage was enough to deter them.

Born from tragedy, she wields a blade of death, shining under the moonlight. Each swing takes hundreds of lives, each step leaves a trail of corpses, every move capable of dividing the stars. Her journey is not for the faint of heart as it is a solitary path drenched in blood. But only on this road will she will heal from the scars of the past.

Captain Yemona Hoskie led her men to the bridge situated at the upper decks. They moved through empty corridors and ignored the handful of bodies and marks of damage. The pirates had swept through the corridors, killing those moving in the open.
Everyone puzzled over the identity of their captives. Earlier, they attempted to interrogate the wounded pirates along with their remarkably well-equipped leader, but they all committed suicide at the same time.
"Suicide implants." Lord Javier huffed over his private comm channel with Ves as he paced alongside his guards. No one else appeared interested in what he had to say, least of all Captain Hoskie. "No ordinary pirates would let someone implant them with those. If that isn't proof that they're not actually pirates, then you might as well cut me in half with that ridiculous laser weapon of yours."
"Do you recognize them perhaps?" Ves asked.
"No. I don't feel they're Vesian. Although they didn't live long enough for me to observe much at all, the pirates have this rough and ruthless quality to them that's far from the attitude ingrained in the Vesian underclasses."
Ves concurred with Javier. "They're far too disciplined and stoic to resemble the pirates from the frontier. There's little chance that they're elites from the Ravienne Alliance, though there's a small possibility that they are dispatched by the Dragon Alliance. It wouldn't make much sense, though. We are quite a distance away from the frontier and as far as I know, the pirates don't have much interest in meddling with our two states."
That only left one probably possibility.
"Dark mercenaries." Lord Javier said.
Killers for hire, the famed dark mercenaries who mainly based themselves in the Nyxian Gap earned their living through dishonorable means. Different from pirates who mainly relied on opportunistic preying of trade ships, dark mercenaries hired themselves out from the deepest depths of the underground.
They didn't work for everyone. Through intermediaries and trusted agents, they matched up with upstanding companies that sought to take care of something violently without the risk of tying the crimes back to their names.
Certain companies paid extremely well for these services. In general, a well-established dark mercenary corps not only lasted longer, they received better and much more regular earnings.
However, it wasn't so easy to establish a dark mercenary corps that companies would be willing to employ. Betrayals happened so often in this murky service industry that reputation and a track record of following through on agreements mattered a lot to both the clients and the service providers.
The high barrier of entry meant that only a relatively small number of long-standing dark mercenary corps ever endured for more than a decade. However, those who managed to survive the initial period would always be able to gain enough reputation to keep the repeat clients coming.
Dark mercenaries earned huge amounts of money. They faced less risks than most pirates but got to earn just as much if not more than even the more successful pirate gangs.
The difference between pirates and dark mercenaries also extended to their training. The latter mostly consisted of military mech pilots or veteran mercenaries with serious behavioral problems or gone afoul with the law.
Unlike the barely trained scum that made up most of the pirate mech pilots, dark mercenaries held themselves to a higher standard.
The discipline and training displayed by the so-called 'pirates' pointed strongly towards dark mercenaries. Still, Ves did not entirely know if they made use of suicide implants wired to a remote signal or some sort of trigger.
"Maybe they're commandos or intelligence operatives." Ves guessed.
Javier shrugged under his hazard suit. "Who knows. There are too many possibilities to guess, but personally I'm leaning towards dark mercenaries."
This speculation didn't help them all that much, but it did give Ves an idea on who they faced. Not everyone made use of well-trained soldiers and stealth shuttles, but some of the better and more renowned dark mercenaries were every bit as good as the commando forces employed by states.
Soon enough, they reached the deck which hosted the bridge compartment. They encountered a pair of pirates stationed at the main stairway, who instantly panicked and tried to run and warn their comrades.
Hoskie's men managed to gun them both down, but they weren't pleased.
"The pirates are probably warned of our presence." The captain predicted. "We've lost the element of surprise."
Even so, they still forged onwards, duty-bound to assist Senator Tovar. As they got nearer to the bridge, they encountered a security checkpoint that had been overwhelmed and taken over by pirates.
Even though the defensive fixtures received a lot of damage, they still offered much more cover than the completely open corridor leading up to the checkpoint.
"This is not advantageous to us." Captain Hoskie observed. "Even with our superior equipment, the pirates stationed twice as many men as ours. With the advantage of cover, they'll hold out long enough that they could easily bleed us dry if they're determined to fight."
Regular pirates folded easily when faced with stiff opposition. Ves did not have any illusion that these fake pirates followed such behavior.
"What do we do?" He asked. There was a reason why Captain Hoskie said those words in the common communication channel instead of keeping her doubts to herself. "Some of those pirates are carrying heavy weapons."
"I heard that you have a very nasty surprise."
In the end, the security checkpoint offered no hindrance to the two consecutive cutting beams that cut apart most of the cover and the pirates hiding behind. The pirates somehow hadn't been in touch with their comrades assaulting the armory, so they did not expect the attack at all. As Captain Hoskie and her men cleaned up the rest, Ves found that discrepancy to be very useful.
"The pirates jammed all long-ranged comms, preventing us from linking up but crippling their own means of contacting each other as well." He observed with a grin. "Usually, that works in their favor, but not this time."
Even so, the jamming prevented the scattered security officers from linking up and coordinating with each other which helped the intruders a lot so far. The defenders of the ship might be elites, but they expected a lot more help from the Remembrance's internal defenses.
If not for the complete loss of power, these pirates wouldn't have stood a chance as the artificial gravity slammed them up and down between the ceiling while turrets deployed from above and from the sides to pepper them with lasers and projectiles.
There was no use crying over the extent of the sabotage. They moved on past the fallen security checkpoint and moved on to the bridge.
Upon their arrival, they saw that they arrived too late. "The pirates forced through the blast doors!"
The bridge of the Remembrance should have been the thickest and most well-armored compartment of the ship. Yet a huge hole rested at the site where Ves attempted to enter only to be denied by the guards.
"How can this be?" Ves wondered. "If there's anything I know about the bridge, it's that those blast doors are much thicker and tougher than the blast doors protecting the armory!"
As the center of the operation of the ship and the principal station for the captain and Senator Tovar, the bridge was exceedingly well-protected. Yet somehow the pirates broke through anyway, and with explosive ordnance far more potent than anything they used before. The site of the ruined blast doors was so ruined that a huge chunk of the ceiling, deck and surrounding bulkheads had been blasted apart as well!
Captain Hoskie hastily led her men into the vulnerable bridge, only to encounter more than thirty bodies.
"All of the dead are bridge officers and security officers!" Ves stated with alarm.
The guards quickly scoured over the bodies, seeing no dead pirates among them. Instead, suspicious piles of ash and melted puddles suggested that the pirates cremated their dead and all of their gear with incendiary charges.
"Senator Tovar isn't among the dead. Neither can we find the bodies Colonel Xelven and Professor Ventag."
The chances were low that the pirates bothered to cremate them. It was much more likely that they'd been kidnapped!
Ves quickly observed something important. "The heat from these marks are still hot. They might not have gotten away from the ship yet! We can still catch up to them and their captives!"
"Let's move!" Hoskie immediately called.
They moved out and through the help of some advanced tracking software that followed residual footsteps taken by the pirates as they made their way out. They hurried down several stairways that led to the middle decks.
No hangar bay resided on the deck the pirates had reached, which meant they were trying to extract through a hole in the hull!
"Hurry up, we're getting close!"
The lack of artificial gravity hindered their movements as they always needed to fully place their magboots against the deck to gain traction. Ves and Lord Javier both moved the slowest by fair, but the exoskeleton soldiers simply picked them up and easily carried them forward.
It was a bit undignified to be carried this way, but it saved them precious seconds.
"We've almost reached the exterior of the Remembrance!"
Soon enough, they rounded another corner and came within sight of a large group of pirates with much better gear. They carried four pods that looked as if they held prisoners to the breached entrance to a large stealth shuttle that had opened its hatch to receive the returning pirates.
"Stop them immediately!" Captain Hoskie ordered and fired her heavy caliber rifle. "Ves, sweep up the pirates in the periphery. In no instance should you fire anywhere close to those pods!"
Ves inwardly grumbled about being ordered around, but he knew better than to make a fuss about it. Right now, rescuing Senator Tovar and the other prisoners took priority! If Ves slipped up his aim and hit one of those pods, he might as well give up his citizenship at the spot!
The heavily-armed exoskeleton soldiers ran to the front, confronting the fifty pirates head-on. The enemy enjoyed a heavy numerical advantage, and unlike the previous pirates they met these ones shed the pretence of dressing up as pirates in favor of better gear!
Even so, no matter how well their combat armor stood up agains the firepower of the Spiral Shocker security guards, when Ves swept up the left and right sides with the high-powered cutting beams from his Amastendira, a multitude of invaders fell or lost composure!
Even as Ves threw the Amastendira back into his Inventory after it entered a forced cooldown cycle, Captain Hoskie's men instantly finished off the remainder with well-aimed shots before they could harm their prisoners!
Unfortunately, one of them managed to unload a volley of rounds right through one of the thinly-armored pods, while another threw a grenade at another pod which heavily damaged its exterior!
"NO!"
Captain Hoskie cursed and ran forward without any regard for her safety. While her men repelled the waiting stealth shuttle and executed the pirates somehow clinging onto their lives, she approached the two damaged pods. Ves and Lord Javier followed suit when it seemed the coast was clear.
She first studied the worst pod that was riddled with holes. Its interior was exposed to vacuum, which quickly distorted the appearance of the dead body inside. She quickly sighed in relief. "It's the captain of the Remembrance."
Although it was callous of her to show relief, everyone was glad the dead body wasn't Camden Tovar.
She then checked the other pod which held another prisoner. The fragmentation grenade that landed on top of it not only dented the pod but breached it in several places.
This time, she looked down in alarm. "It's Senator Tovar!"
As soon as she pried open the damaged cover of the pod, the old man calmly climbed out of the pod. He showed no injury at all despite the fragmentation grenade!
"No need to worry, good captain. My shield generator protected me from harm." The senator calmly stated in his intact high-quality vacsuit and looked around. "My compliments to you, captain."
"Thanks, but we mostly managed to rescue you because of Mr. Larkinson." Captain Hoskie admitted honestly.
That caused the powerful senator to look towards Ves, who was in the middle of prying open the cover to the pod that held Professor Ventag.

“And the other gift?” Leylin looked at the appealing fox lady in front of him. There was a glimmer of anticipation on his face like that of a little boy-next-door.

Such an attitude made Madam Tillen blush instantly, and her heart almost could not take it, “Although I know perfectly well that you’re just putting on an act, I still was nearly captivated by you…”

Tillen swayed her hips. Her fiery-red fox tail drifting gently with the wind, “The second one is an intelligence report. It’s about the God of Murder’s church.”

Leylin’s expression turned solemn as he listened carefully.

Leylin sighed secretly, then stood in front of everyone, “I am the captain of the Scarlet Tiger and will be your captain in the future. Does anyone have anything to say?”

Furthermore, some of you, perhaps, simply harbor prohibited thoughts and wish to kill me and seize control of the boat at sea.”

An uproar came from the pirates below, but Leylin’s voice was loud enough to repress it.

“But it doesn’t matter, I can put all that aside. However, if you disobey my orders on the ship, or are unable to complete even my most basic requests, I will wring your brain out and stuff it up your anus. Do you understand?”

This arrogant threat immediately created a commotion among many of the pirates. Even Ronaldo was slightly displeased.

“Ya tender white swine! How dare ye speak to adults like that! Be a good lil’ boy and run back to yer mommy’s bosom to drink her milk!”

A jarring voice sounded from the crowd and hoots of laughter instantly erupted.

“Stop hidin’, Damphair Aeron. I can see ye. Get out here!” Giant and Hulk were rather furious.

“Hey! Hey! Mateys! Are we gin’ let a mischievous imp climb over our heads?” The crowd parted. A pirate with a fake eye and yellowing teeth walked out with more than a dozen men behind him.

“Browntooth Torworld, Pinchface Jon Myre, Red Oarsman Lucas Codd, Quellon Humble…” Giant’s expression grew worse as these names were called out one by one.

These were all famous pirates. Most of them worked alone, but they still were forces to be reckoned with.

Moreover, they had great popularity among the various pirates. Even Cyclops felt that this wouldn’t be easy to settle.

“Finally, you appear.” Leylin shook his head, “Then what do you plan on doing? Don’t forget we are still at the pier.”

At this point, even Giant, the most slow-witted of them all, understood that they were plotting to seize control. He immediately stood behind Leylin, along with Cyclops and the other older pirates. Their gazes were filled with pity.

Based on what they knew of Leylin, they instantly predicted that this was the beginning of a show of force and massacre.

The majority of the pirates lowered their heads, but a few jeered rowdily. The crowd still showed tacit approval on the whole.

The loyalty of pirates was as chaste as prostitutes.

“Aeron! You’re too much!” Ronald stood apart together with his brothers, drawing the boundaries with him.

“A silent majority, and a handful of rebellious people?” Leylin laughed while looking at Aeron, who seemed to be at a loss of what to do. His eyes were filled with panic.

Upon seeing Ronald step out, he evidently understood that the situation had escalated to a point where it would be difficult to tell what would happen.

At first, they had more than a dozen brothers that were not inferior to Leylin’s men. While the remaining newly recruited pirates wouldn’t have helped an outsider.

But now, the tables had turned. Since Ronald decided to defect while bringing some people along, the tides turned immediately. The number of people in Leylin’s team rapidly increased, which intimidated majority of the remaining pirates.

Aeron deeply understood that, with his reputation, it was possible to get some of these pirates to fight for him. However, it would be impossible for Ronald to fight for Aeron as if his life depended on it.

“Damn it Ronald, ye made me lose such a huge juicy sheep! Watch out!” Aeron cursed and moved to leave with his subordinates. Death, however, was already knocking on his door. A nimble black silhouette suddenly appeared out of thin air.

“Shadow Stealth!” The figure that had appeared was an assassin. Her dagger slashed an elegant arc across his neck.

Assassin skill— Cutthroat!

A great amount of fresh blood splurted out. Aeron covered his throat with both hands, and struggled as he collapsed on the floor. His death was quick.

“Anyone with the audacity to offend my master, will die.” Karen stood behind Leylin, wielding the dagger.

After the poison was expelled from her body, Karen finally returned to her original strength as a rank 5 assassin, which immediately intimidated a few people.

Now, she faced these pirates with the blade of vengeance.

“A rank 5 assassin! Mateys, charge! Avenge Aeron!” A red-haired pirate, who had been standing behind Aeron, immediately yelled out as a layer of qi burst forth from his body.

“Don’t move, all of you!” Leylin raised his hands and stopped his subordinates from causing trouble.

“Perhaps you once heard how the captain of the Scarlet Tiger was a powerful wizard but, upon seeing me, you instantly thought it was only a rumour,” Leylin strolled in front of those traitors. What he said made their expression change drastically and, at this point, many of them were already secretly regretting their actions.

“But let me tell you that, unfortunately, your guesses are wrong.” A refined and courteous smile was plastered on Leylin’s face. What he did next, however, wasn’t so civilized.

“Fireball!” Two balls of fire shot out, and the red-haired pirate was instantly torched.

The powerful force of the spell immediately made numerous pirates retreat one by one, a look of respect emerging on their faces.

“Animate Rope!” Leylin pointed his finger. The once useless cable suddenly started moving about, as if it had a life of its own. It nimbly bound the rebellious pirates together, and hung them upside-down on the deck.

The numerous ropes resembled the tentacles of a formidable monster as they danced around continuously, while Leylin looked like the powerful wizard who tamed the monsters of the sea only found in legends. Many pirates couldn’t help but kneel down.

“Ah! Release me! Release me! This is the Pirates’ Cove, ye can’t do this! The Barbarian Pirates crew ain’t gonna let ye off!”

A few pirates were still putting up their final struggle. Their high-pitched voices pierced the air, attracting a team of barbarian guards.

There was a glimmer of hope on the faces of the captive whey they saw the guards. However, it was unfortunate that their hopes were immediately smashed to smithereens.

Upon seeing the flag of the Scarlet Tiger, these barbarians left immediately, not even bothering about the tragedy that was taking place.

“This treatment! It means there’s an alliance with the Barbarian Pirates crew! Boss has already made an alliance with the Barbarians!” The numerous pirates immediately began to heartily surrender.
