Some have good versatility while others have high effectiveness. Some are effective for short-distance whereas others for longer distance. Every skill has the use of their own. I think I have a few choices in my mind though


"Earthly Monarch Effect! Although I like blink as well, but if I had to choose, I'll take Earthly Monarch Effect"  Long Chen muttered as he gazed at the book


" So you've decided on this one? " Xun asked as she stood in the back


" Yea. It is something that I find more useful. Although it can't increase my speed on a burst like some of the other skills, it's the one which will grow stronger with me. This movement skill strengthens the muscles while increasing the overall speed by once twenty percent. I've known that my speed had gone up by a lot as my cultivation increased. Any fixed increase will become useless after I reach a certain cultivation. But compared to other movement skills, the usefulness of  earthy monarch effect will keep increasing as my cultivation increase " Long Chen explained with a smile


" So you're investing in this movement skill for the long run. Do you think you should think as much? You'll get even stronger skills in the future " Xun laughed as she said


" Of course I am investing in the future with what I have as I'm not ready to place everything on hope. Every skill of bloodline Temple is extraordinary and I don't want this chance to be wasted but it's just a decision about movement skills, there are more shelves and books in this room. Jim started to feel overwhelmed by all the options available, and decided to spend time planning what to get rather than rushing into things. "Okay, Let's increase my current skills for now, biting off too much to chew will just end up stunting my growth." Thus, he went to bed, the next day he headed to the Library again.

Jim had now read 90% of the available books in the library, after arriving here this morning he had tested Distant Reading and was shocked, it didn't let him see a book clearly from afar, he literally didn't need to touch a book to read it, just focusing on a book allowed him to read the contents, the range he could do this was originally only a few meters away, but as the level rose he began to feel he could search the entire library's contents from outside. He began wondering if this counted as a psychic power, the large utility increase was stunning, and further fueled his desire to train his skills.

After finishing up all the books in the library, Jim was a bit downhearted at not gaining another derivation skill, he found himself able to concentrate on reading five books at once, six if he pushed himself. After leaving, he tested the range of Distant Reading while walking away, finding himself able to access the books at the deepest part of the library despite being a city block away, he was extremely impressed with this skill, the only problem being he can't use it for anything but reading books, Jim was hopeful the derived skill would allow him to study anything from afar, no use crying over spilt milk.

"Now, what should I do next...?"

Lize had mixed feelings about this place.
Although they weren't there for a mission, Lize still couldn't relax. The forest brought back bad memories from before. Whenever she walked on the grass, she remembered the deaths of her previous leader and her comrades somewhere within the forest. It was a terrible feeling.
It's no surprise though since it was her first time experiencing a complete wipe. She slung her bag over her shoulders as she walked silently behind the group, her mind preoccupied with the past ordeal.
Even Marlene, the only one who had a good relationship with Lize besides Rhode, was unable to comfort her because she was also preoccupied with something at the moment. The genius Mage was looking rather dull as she dragged her feet next to Lize. Clearly, her mind was wandering somewhere else, and the culprit that made her like this was no one else but the new Ranger Alchemist Lapis, who was not too far away from her.
After that day, Marlene agreed to Rhode's request and tried to teach Lapis about 'standard' alchemy. At first, Marlene didn't think that it would be difficult, but oh my, she was so wrong.
Although she didn't study mysterious creation and construction, at least she knew how to concoct potions. As long as she can teach her on that topic, it shouldn't be much of a problem.
However, when she discussed with Lapis about potions… she finally realized that she wasn't omnipotent. Even though Marlene was confident about her knowledge regarding the topic, Lapis was just too abnormal. Her knowledge regarding alchemy was far beyond ordinary people's comprehension.
Here's a simpler way to describe their conversation:

That's just how Lapis' mind works. Marlene decided to give up after bearing with her for two days. Being the genius she was, Marlene rarely puts down her pride. But in the end, she told Rhode that she wanted to quit being her instructor. Rhode could not force Marlene to do something against her wishes, so he could only give in to her request.
As for Lapis, Marlene wasn't sure how her future would be. She acknowledged that Lapis' way of thinking was unique and different from the Magic Academy's teaching style, yet it was also Lapis' greatest weakness.
One must realize that alchemy knowledge had been passed down from generation to generation for thousands of years. It took countless Alchemists to form an effective learning system. Lapis was unable to enjoy the benefits of this learning system and had to create her own path in alchemy. If one division already took hundreds of years to master, what about all three divisions?
Rhode felt differently; he came from the modern world, so he knew that there were many individuals with unique gifts. He read many novels where the main characters were oddballs, and yet they still succeeded in the end. Maybe Lapis was the same?
Still, it didn't matter even if Lapis failed. Rhode had already made preparations to let Lapis become a maid in the stronghold. At least she would be pleasing to the eye and Rhode wouldn't have completely wasted his money he had spent on training her.
"Sister Lize, are you okay?"
Anne, who was as cheery as always, came to find out that Lize was in low spirits.
Lize raised her head and smiled bitterly. Despite the scenery of Twilight Forest in spring to be beautiful, Lize was in no mood to enjoy it. She knew that she was acting strange, but she couldn't control her emotions.
"Nothing, it just that I'm not feeling very well."
Lize didn't explain further. She didn't want to bring her past up. But… why can't she let it go?
Even Lize herself didn't know the reason why.
"Hmm…"
Hearing Lize's vague answer, Anne stared at her for a while and once again revealed her energetic smile.

The site was a clearing along the borders of Twilight Forest and Paphield. A warm and gentle breeze rustled the grass on the flat ground, giving off an aura of tranquility.
Shauna and her subordinates quickly began to set up camp. They were extremely proficient; in a mere ten minutes, they've already managed to set up a decent base camp.
Their base camp was established on a hill with a nearby creek flowing downwards into the forest on both sides. Old Walker and Randolf demonstrated their Ranger skills by setting up many traps around the base camp. Although it was supposed to be a 'leisure' trip, it was still better to be safe than sorry.
While they were setting up traps, they managed to catch some wild rabbits escaping from a hawk. So, it seems like they were going to have meat for their next meal.
The whole journey was rather relaxing from their departure until now. But after indulging themselves in a delicious rabbit stew for dinner, Rhode reminded them that they weren't here for recreation.
"This is the training schedule."
Rhode said while handing pieces of paper to Shauna, Randolf, and the rest. While they were reading the content, Rhode opened his mouth and continued,
"All of you should know what this is. My first requirement of you is to master these skills. Of course, they are not difficult, and you've already probably heard of these skills, but my requirements are stricter."
"Sir, this is…"
At that moment, Randolf and the rest had just finished reading the contents of the paper. They were surprised and looked at Rhode unbelievably.
Randolf's eyes widened in shock. What was on the paper right now, were the various skills belonging to Rangers. The skills were arranged in a manner that was unfamiliar to him. Previously, Rhode had asked Randolf and the rest of their learned skills. Of course, as NPCs, they won't have any 'player abilities' so they weren't as strong as the players. But if he gave them a good skill rotation to use, he could still create a perfect attack plan.
That was indeed Rhode's purpose.
Since these newbies can't figure it out on their own, he should teach them step-by-step on how to use their skills efficiently. No matter how stupid they were, after reading this detailed 'skill guide,' they should be able to improve themselves significantly.
If they are still unable to perform well… at that time, he would consider to let Randolf wear the maid outfit and stand in front of the entrance of the stronghold.

Then the last group of governments treated Awakeneds with respect. They have their own special forces composed of Awakeneds but would not harm, limit, or control anyone if they don't break the law.

Sometimes they chose to turn a blind eye on little crimes if they don't go too far with it. Most of the government use this way to attract others from their more restrictive countries to move to theirs.

It was an effective strategy that showed excellent results. Now a lot of places around the world were copying this strategy. It had good results, but it wasn't as effective as the first one to do it.

Another feature of the phone was the chat groups and forums. Max jumped around different groups using his user ID.

Someone could make their own group if they want and they can choose whether they want it to be public or private.

In the forum, most of the contents were news and announcements that people wrote like jobs for hire and breaking news.

There were a lot of jobs involving crimes and assassinations. This was probably where the requests of rich people that are not Awakeneds go.

Shadow Theif joined the group.

When he joined the last group of Awakeneds that were living in the same country as him, Max was bombarded with questions.

As soon as he got in, one user started chatting, "Welcome, new member! Are you a criminal? How many have you killed?"

"You should try to kill someone. You would need it someday!"

Since the killer group members continued their talks about their kills, and Max was uninterested with it, he moved to check another group.

Moving from group to group, most of them were only talking about boring stuff that Max kept changing to find a good group.

The guy seemed like he was genuinely curious that he wanted to watch the fight though it was also not impossible that he just wanted to study them.

From the history of their conversation, at a particular area of the city that he was in, two Awakeneds were having a fight.

Looking at the exact location, Max immediately recognized it. It was where the old buildings were located, and the area was now barren, only waiting to be demolished and rebuild into something modern and appealing to the eyes.

Since that was the case, no one was living there — the perfect place for fights to happen with nothing around them.

Max contemplated whether he should go and take a look or not. He considered if it is too dangerous for him to go there.

He was extremely interested in seeing how they fight. An Awakened with skills to shoot water was too easy to imagine. What Max was interested in is the puppet.

Max was curious about what kind of skill was the puppet, how it works while fighting, and finally, whether it is powerful or not. 

This was his first time hearing about someone using a puppet as a skill. It was an unorthodox skill, so it must be strong.

The more skills Max was aware of, the better it will be for him in the future if he were to face them.

Spending some time thinking, Max ultimately decided to go and take a look. From the water skills and skills for puppets, he determined that it shouldn't be dangerous for him to go and watch from the sides.

Finishing all his preparations, Max immediately went to the location that was written by the guy who saw it.

Once back at the base I talked with several of the other Slashers for a bit, getting congrats on the assault, but nothing truly noteworthy came up so I headed to my bunk and pulled out my datapad. I had some research and studying to do if plan "Drugs are Power" was to really work because while my Medicine skill (combined with my Chemistry and Biology skills) was telling me what kinds of compounds I needed to do what I wanted it was silent on how to actually make the final product.

So I decided to see if Gamer logic was still in play and started looking up how to and do it yourself guides for making all kinds of things. With the competition of a text on making a crude table I got a notification that the Crafting skill had been created. A quick look at my sheet and I grinned broadly.

Other crafting related texts were rapidly devoured, advancing in complexity from basic wood working all the way up to the use of molecular furnaces and best practices when building star ships.

In truth I sat in that bed reading, while doing absurdly complex math in my head, for over forty straight hours. I was left alone for most of the first day, Katniss looked in but when she saw me engrossed in my pad she just shrugged and left, but the second got me a lot of second glances, a visit from Psykes (where he just shook his head and left), and then Katniss plopping down on my bed and saying "What are you doing Alex? You haven't left this bed in more than a day. Are you alright?"

I gave a sigh and put my pad down, my social skills were telling me that blowing off my closest ally probably wasn't a good idea, and said "I'm fine, been studying some really interesting stuff. "

She looked slightly interested as she said "Oh, what?"

"Well the use of advanced, precise, gravity manipulation to replicate the capabilities of a molecular furnace so that you can form items inside a subspace bubble; at least at the moment." I said.

The teen looked at me blankly and said "Huh? I understood every single discrete word you said but still have absolutely no idea what you meant."

I gave a slight sigh before saying "The unique enviroment found in subspace can produce some truly extraordinary types of physical matter but the extraordinarily high natural energy levels in that enviroment make the continued existence of anything lacking the appropriate shielding extremely unlikely. The shielding technology is not compatible with the technology required to make a molecular furnace, so the solution that came up was to use incredibly precise artificial gravity controls and hyperpsace scanners to manipulate the matter inside the subspace bubble on a molecular scale from real space. The end result is the ability to artificially produce, and shape, some materials that simply can't naturally occur in the real world."

"Ok... I kinda understood that, but why are you studying something like that. I mean what is the use? Hell, what is that used for by anyone." Katniss said, still clearly confused and wondering when the conversation had gotten so weird.

"Well it's used to make some of the materials critical to the construction of hypermatter reactors for one; but the costs are so absurdly high that pretty much nothing else can justify them. And I'm studying because I find construction in all of its forms to be incredibly interesting. I like to take the odd day or two of downtime to just study whatever takes my fancy, even if it has no immediate practical value." I replied.

Katniss gave a huff and said "Well then I'll leave you to it." as she got up to leave.

"Hey Katniss" she turned back as I called out "I'll be done with this by dinner time anyways, so want to have a spar then."

She gave a smile and said "Sure, see you there."

With that done I got back to my reading, I really was close to being done for now. Mostly because I had pretty much exhausted the texts on advanced crafting that I could find for now and while lower end texts would still provide their XP I would need to read thousands of them to gain as much as a single advanced text would give me.

In truth I probably didn't need to push Crafting up to 20 so fast but I could already tell that it was going to become an incredibly useful tool, especially if my body ever did actually grow up. Increased Strength might have visibly improved my musculature, at least until a point, but it hadn't made me any larger. If I started growing in size until adult hood them I would end up needing numerous sets of gear over the years and that would probably be a pain, at least unless I could craft it myself. My physical abilities were just too far outside the norm for standard gear to be anything close to ideal for me.

When my Intelligence ranked up to 24 (a few minutes after my Crafting had hit 30) I sighed and put my pad away before heading out to find Katniss for our sparring match.

She was in the cantina with Psykes when I found her and so I grabbed a plate before sitting down with them.

"So Kat tells me that you are studying very cutting edge construction techniques, any reason?" Psykes said as I sat down.

I gave a shrug before taking a bite of my meal, speaking once I had finished my bite "Boredom, interest. You saw me Psykes, you taught me the hardware and software ends of electronics in a few hours each. Do you really think that I learn most anything else that much slower?"

Katniss interrupted before Psykes could say anything "Wait, you mean that you actually really understood what you were reading?"

Another shrug and I spoke "Well yeah, not much point in reading it if I didn't. Learning stuff just comes really easy to me. Ask Psykes."

She turned to look at the older man who nodded his own head and said "Yeah, I saw it with my own eyes. He went from barely being able to turn on a datapad to being able to build a full terminal from loose parts in about three hours. And when I showed him how to use a computer he went from the most basic commands to coding his own custom programs in a similar period of time. The kids a savant of some kind, and to an absurd degree."

Kat turned back to me and said "That is such bullshit Alex. So unfair." in a huff.

I gave another shrug and said "It's just the way I am. If you don't like it then take it up with whatever deity decided that things should be this way."

"So unfair." she huffed again, crossing her arms and blowing a strand of hair that had fallen across her face out of the way at the same time.

I laughed and finished my meal after a simple "Yup."

Once dinner was done we headed to the dojo to spar, neither of us all that interested in the audience that would have shown up if we had fought in the main room again. With slight bows to one another we got started..

She was good but, unlike last time, I was now as technically skilled, and I had even more Strength and Dexterity than in that last match. In truth there was no real contest, I would win this match and we both recognized that within the first exchange so instead of a true fight it became more of a relaxing dance that slowly ramped up in speed and intensity.

Katniss kept pushing things just a little harder as I focused mostly on defense and didn't pressure her when she retreated to catch her breath. After almost thirty minutes though she was clearly getting exhausted and so I went on the offense. The fight was over within a handful of seconds as I ceased to really pull my punches, even if I wasn't going for potentially lethal strikes, and I had her pinned in short order.

"Good match. Yield?" I asked.

"I yield. Ugh you are strong. Stupid absurd strength and learning curve. Are you an escaped lab experiment or something?" she asked with a chuckl as she got back to her feet.

"Not to my knowledge, but then I know virtually nothing about my past so. Who knows?" I said, backflipping to my feet as well.

"What do you mean? How don't you know your past?" Katniss interrogated.

"I have no clue where this body was conceived or born, who it's genetic donors were, or indeed anything about its past. My earliest memories are of the back alleys of this degenerate hell hole. I plan on looking into it eventually but for now I have other things to focus on." I replied.

She gave a quiet "Oh." and looked like she had no idea what to say so I gave her an out "Don't worry about it, good match by the way but you should probably see the medical droid. I think that I might have broken your arm in that last exchange." I knew that I hadn't but it was still bruised and probably hurt like a bitch.

She gave a nod and left, saying "See yah later Alex."

I, in turn, made my way off to the gangs drug processing plant. It was a run of the mill commercial pharmaceutical plant that used nanotech to arrange various molecules how the user desired. It was the same basic technology behind the machine that had made the clothes I was wearing now but specialized for chemical production. A glance with Perception told me that it counted as a rank 30 Medicine Crafting tool and a rank 15 Chemistry crafting tool.

A few checks showed that it had the required feed stock for my design and so I got to work, only for a popup to occur as the world around me froze much like it did on leveling up.

Well that was easy. Power Juice mk.1

Once I was done the world unfroze and my body got to work largely on autopilot. I could have broke off the crafting at any time but if I didn't my body would just go through the motions until the item was completed. In this case until I had 20 doses of Power Juice.

Drug production was relatively fast, I entered the molecular structure of my desired drug into the machine and it spit out the finished product a few minutes later.

My drugs went straight into my inventory and then I headed out. I really didn't want any of the Slashers seeing this experiment so I headed back to my tutorial area using all of my Stealth skill and Perception to ensure that I wasn't followed.

Once there I, none of the rats were back yet, I moved a bit into the alley network and dosed myself with Power Juice mk. 1. Anyone else would have considered it an absurdly lethal poison and I collapsed as my new found strength was not enough to carry all that was in my inventory so I emptied it out, with the exception of my datapad, and got back to work.

First was the running. Three hours, and three doses of Power Juice, had me back up to 10 Vitality. Then I got to work with the hand stands and hand walking, once my Dexterity was back up enough for me to manage it was Strength's turn. Five Strength had me good enough to again do vertical push ups. From there is was another six hours until I was facing diminishing returns.

An hours sleep cleared the drug from my system and a glance at my character sheet showed the outcome.

Very nice, I would need to whip up some mk. 2 Power Juice so that I could push them all up to 40. But that could wait, I had some other crafting experiments to try.

The next thing I hold in my hand is a book. Well...rather than calling it a book, a booklet? "... What is this?"
I say without realizing.
In the cover of the booklet is not a character that I have seen written before, but for some reason, I was able to understand the words.

Soon, after I noticed the true ident.i.ty of the characters that are written on the cover of the booklet, I notice that I seem to be able to read the letters and try to write my name in the firm ground.

Even though my English was no good, I am surprised that I can easily handle these characters I have never seen before.
This, I wonder if it is due to the language comprehension ability that G.o.d gave us before the transport.

Uhhm….. can it be that [Language Comprehension] isn't a skill, but an inborn talent that can't be seen?
Maa, it's not a problem even if I don't investigate profoundly. Even if it doesn't appear as the first skill, it isn't a problem as long as I can use it.

I didn't think that they would surpa.s.s humans!? Normally the boundary between humans and animals is how well you can make and handle tools….. It's difficult for me to grasp the difference between animals and humans. I don't understand.
But, it can't be the ability to create a tool better than humanity, but to have the technique to use it!!….
"Iyaaa….Clever monkey, so dangerous."
I say and turn the page
Then the t.i.tle is written in big letters on one page and it reads [Lifetime of the Clever Monkey].
"Lifetime!!!?"
Suddenly it turns magnificent!?
"…..What is this? Is a doc.u.ment starting?"
So I say as I turn another page.

I start reading it and then I am lost for words. But, it isn't in a bad meaning, on the contrary, in a good meaning.
"It can't be. All the experiences of the monkey have been packed into this one book!?"
I continue reading and what is written are the effects of each and every plant and herb, etc., and how to work with them.
Furthermore the plants are possible to collected in the whole area around here. All those places were drawn is the map.
Not only are the plants written about, there are valuable mineral locations marked.
"Seriously, bad…. Too bad!
In the last page was a map with a cross that carefully marks the place of the dead monkey.
"Because I didn't move from this place where I killed the monkey, it marks my current position?!!"
Because, in this forest that I am currently wandering around, a lot of places to be used as reference points are important.
After reading the booklet, like the skill card, it starts emitting a violent light. Then, again it turns into a ball of light and enters inside me.
"!"
The moment the ball of light is sucked inside me, knowledge that was in the booklet before starts flowing in my head.
"The information that suddenly flows in my head…. I can understand everything!!!
Although it's my own self, I am surprised to remember without difficulty at once all of the obtained knowledge.
This is like the time I learned the skills. In the end, all the knowledge I got is completely mine.
"Wawa…..wawawa…."
A smile forms without realizing. This … seriously what is it?
First, I kill a demon-like monkey, then I get skill cards I never seen before and all the knowledge and experience of the monkey was in my hands? ….Surely something is wrong. Until then I thought because in my head, a certain word appear.
"——–Absolute Disa.s.sembly…..!"
I know! In that description, it said, "Obtain all (・・) from the defeated demon." That's why I could make all the knowledge my own!
"Th…then, what are the remaining ball and treasure box…?"
I drop onto my knees where the rest of the defeated clever monkey was and transfer my line of sight to the mysterious sphere and the treasure chest while I muttered.

My mind flashed with great light, disturbing my dreams and bringing me back into consciousness. "Dammit." My entire body ached, and my head was in pain.


Tens of thousands of vague images swirled around within my mind, conflicting with my memories as I tried to comprehend them all. Head stinging and eyes teary, I pressed my hands against my temples in a vain attempt to try and relieve at least some of the pain.


It burned


My hands felt heated, and it slowly turned from comfortable warmth into blistering heat. My vision grew blurred from the tears.


*Ding!*


Everything stopped, calming down. I laid on the snow-bed, my head wet with cool water. I was far more exhausted than before, yet more awake at the same time, and all I recieved was; Jaune.


Nothing else, just that name! I would've been angry, maddening as how I went through all that..for a name. If, if it wasn't for the emotions that afflicted me from that single word.


'Jaune' It seemed like an echo, filled with an uncountable amount of voices, all with their own feelings; joy, happiness, sorrow, regret.....


I didn't know what to think of it..


Rubbing my head, I tried to concentrate. My memories were kinda foggy - I realized - all that I remembered of Remnant were the names the team RWBY, not their faces nor did I remember anyone else.


I'm starting to regret not watching past the first few minutes...


It wasn't like I didn't watch it, but the amount was very little - bits and pieces really.


I've never been able to think this cool-headed before...


The realization., made me think of pure mind - I know the description had said immune to external and internal psychological effects, but it wasn't

Windows popped into existence, allowing me to breath a sigh of relief. "Glad that worked," I was sorta thankful for having a..system that's actually not fully manual. Hmm..system..I think I'm gonna call it that, it's much better than just calling it, 'gamer ability'.


With a smile from my recent discovey and a new and better name for my ability, I scrolled through the notifications.

"This is not what I was expecting...at all," It was a good thing for sure - but the timing wasn't. I mean..it could be placed as good, if 'to ensure the host's safety' means it'll be active until I'm perfectly safe - I could also be reading into lines too much..

I noted the difference in the design and layout, but also how the numerals and the essence of it remained somewhat the same. "Where's Skills?" Usually, there would be a second prompt with the skills and perks, yet it hadn't popped up yet.


Maybe..it was something updated?


I wonder if it has the same requirements as how I summon up my stats? "Hmm...let's see, Skills," Indeed, a window popped infront of me, the label was the familiar 'Skills'..it seems like it works?

​"How great" I sighed, looking around my surroundings. I was still- probably -​​​inside the snowy forest where I, somehow went into..I'm not gonna question it.


Standing off the ground, I looked up into the sky. The Sun was to my left and I think it's descending, which means I'm probably..facing south..*Ding!* "Oh..my intelligence increased" I decided to go where the sun was setting, which was in the West. *Ding* Okay..I might be getting annoyed at these notifications now.

Marcus was just your everyday teenager, until an accident had happened and killed him as a casualty - Unexpectedly, Marcus had once again opened his eyes to see...a different world.

I don't own the world of RWBY. Nor any other references of different franchises.

Now pleased with the fact that he already felt stronger just from his first day of lessons, Lance wasted no time while back in his room and began reading more about alchemy so that soon, he would be able to try and start down that trade. 

And so, with many new goals in his mind, and teachers who wanted nothing more than for him to succeed, Lance continued as a student for two years and would only learn about new clan affairs through letters delivered to him. 

As expected, Lance was able to breakthrough into the 1st rank as a mystic after only the first month of his training, while now he was very close in breaking through to the 2nd rank. However, what shocked everyone who was paying attention in the Griffin Academy, Lance was able to in this time, also break into the 2nd rank as a warrior. 

The Griffin Academy, preferred students to remain lower ranked mystics, so that they could be well above average during each breakthrough, however, even with this in mind, Lance's willingness to spend all day into night training and becoming stronger and researching more, has allowed him to grow his strength a a normal mystic student at a different academy would without such shackles. 

Over the two years, Lance was now able to create 1st grade medical pills using the cauldron that the academy provided to every student. Due to this, Lance was able to build a small amount of wealth, while bartering with the teacher in charge of the school's finances to allow him to purchase materials at a low price. 

It was looked down upon by many jealous students, but because of his physical strength as a 2nd rank warrior expert, Lance was able to spar with mystics of the 2nd and 3rd ranks without falling too far behind. Each spar usually ended with Lance running out of strength from being bombarded by countless spells, or him getting close enough to his opponent in order to land a critical blow. 

With the help of Lily, Lance had learned more about the human anatomy and was even given some books on demonic beast's anatomies. With this level of knowledge, Lance's healing type techniques and skills became even stronger and more effective. However, Lily made it clear that he was still only a beginner as far as being a light elemental mystic was concerned. 

After attending both the introductory class in the morning and training with Lily in the afternoon for one year, Lily put in a request for Lance to allow his schedule to be altered. She understood half way through the year that Lance wanted to become a dual master and was showing very good progress in this regard, so she wanted to support this. 

Therefore, the dean also approved for Lance to spend his mornings training with his swordsmanship among other basic exercises which most experts of the warrior path would do daily to keep up with their training, while in the afternoon, Lily would help teach him many different light element skills. 

Some of these skills were of course for healing himself and his companions, but there were other types of basic skills that Lily wanted to teach him including creating a ball of light in order to light up a dark area, to even skills using the light element in more unconventional ways. 

And of course after dinner for several hours before falling asleep, Lance spent that time working on his alchemy skills and research. It was a normal speed of growth for an individual who wanted to become an alchemist to reach the level to create 1st grade pills within the first two years, but since Lance wasn't focused on this all day every day, it showed that he actually had what it took to genuinely succeed in this type of trade. 

Due to his recent breakthrough into reaching a one hundred percent success rate with creating 1st grade pills, Lily told Lance that he could take one week off from attending her class and should use this time to celebrate his success over the past two years. At first, Lily wasn't very fond of Lance, but seeing him grow at such an astonishing rate, allowed her to warm up more to him and care more about his well being and future. 

Now that it was a full week later after discussing this with her, Lance was now eagerly training his swordsmanship in the morning and was excited to see Lily once again to see what type of new training she might have in mind for him. He was now like a sponge that constantly absorbed information and was able to pick things up right away. 

This was not unusual for someone of the mystic path, because mystics were forced to become more in tune with the natural environment around them. In this regard, it allowed mystics to use their intelligence and mental capabilities for a much longer period of time.

With his clan declining quickly, Lance has no choice but to do what many experts choose not to, become a dual master; training as both a warrior and a mystic.

Only by becoming stronger on a much harder journey, would Lance have the opportunity to not only assist his clan, but to take one step closer to immortality!
