In 2040, virtual reality has been something that can't be separated with daily lives. Its wide range of usage from medical research, educational purpose, to entertainment world makes it become one of the top priority of the technological development. Every country either it was government agency or private sector, all races to be the first one to make improvement on the virtual reality.



One day, a genius shows up. At the age of 17 he increased the virtual reality realism to 90%. At the age of 20, he created more than 100 apps to help human life improved and easier. Finally, his field of research on virtual reality falls to the gaming section.



"No, this is wrong! Virtual reality games shouldn't be like this!"
When he first gets in touch to the virtual reality games, he immediately went into a rage. He looked at the game mechanics, the way how the current games are played and how the player played the game.



"This is all wrong! This doesn't make sense. A virtual reality games should be incorporating fantasy and illogical elements like magic and abilities beyond normal human capabilities but this is wrong. It still should have some logical understanding. It doesn't make sense on how lifestyle class such as merchant, blacksmith, chef and many more to have low combat ability. If it was on the real world, even a top class martial expert can die to a five years old child that is carrying a gun. Even though battle class such as swordsman, archer, and magician have high damage output, it doesn't mean that the lifestyle class can't compare to them. Alright, I have decided, I will create a brand new game that defies everyone current logic and create my own definition of virtual reality gaming."



Not long after that, the name of the virtual reality genius, Schneider disappeared from the common people. When everyone almost forgotten him, he comes back 20 years later without any notices. What he brings back with him when he comes back is a new game 『Aaru』. The game boosted a 99.99% degree of realism which awed the world. The game itself becomes an enigma that enchanted everyone. It was stated that the game will be launched 3 years later at the 1st September 2070. The time before the launching of the game was used for registering and buying the game gear.



In a form of a dark colored glasses, 『Syder』 or Synapse Reader becomes the newest trend. Not only it was usable to browse the net when it wasn't used for the game, its ease of usage is what the people has been looking for. As it read the synapse that woks in helping neuronal function, it also works the same way by transmitting neuronal commands which resulting in only 0.01 second delay from the moment a command was issued until it was run.



Finally, the game will be launched in one month but a great issue was discovered. Schneider was nowhere to be found which leave the staff flabbergasted. All efforts have been done to find him but to no avail. Until one more day of the launching date, he is still missing. All in all, there is no way back to delay the release date since it has been hyped throughout the years. The staff decided to go with the original plan. At 1st September 2070, the game 『Aaru』 was launched. It leads the world to a new gaming era in no time. However, Schneider the genius has been missing since then. The only thing that reminded the world that such genius has existed once was the game he created and the welcome speech of the system which is voiced by him.



"Welcome players to the world of Aaru, where level is everything!"

Chapter 2701 - Era of Hegemony Begins

Along with a flash of brilliance in the underground secret room, Shi Feng's figure gradually appeared. In reality, the biggest change brought about by God's Domain's first major update wasn't in the realism but the NPCs and monsters.
Both NPCs and monsters gained their own thoughts after the major update.
Yes, thoughts! Not intelligence!
The so-called AI that powered the NPCs and monsters before was merely a well-designed program that could react to players' words and actions to a reasonable extent. Most of the NPCs and monsters in the game couldn't actually think for themselves. Generally, only NPCs at Tier 5 and above had such an ability.
But now, no matter how weak the monster or NPC was, they would all have their own thoughts. This would bring about a great change to God's Domain.
After all, from a certain perspective, NPCs and monsters were no longer different from real humans. With this change, fights with monsters and NPCs would feel no different from PvP fights.
No!
To be precise, fights against monsters and NPCs would become even more troublesome than PvP fights. Unlike players, monsters and NPCs were accustomed to fighting in God's Domain. Of course, this change came with its benefits, as well.
For example, players unaffiliated with any powers could choose to join NPC teams to do quests. This option instantly increased the survivability of independent players. It also allowed independent players to get their hands on resources and equipment that were previously unattainable.
Meanwhile, after Shi Feng left the underground hall, the NPC named Frett breathed out a deep sigh of relief.
The Lord seems strange today. He normally doesn't talk to us guards, yet he actually said good morning to me today, Frett, who was clad in silver mail armor, thought in confusion as he looked at Shi Feng's departing back. Did the Lord notice me slacking, so he greeted me as a warning?
Thinking up to this point, Frett shivered involuntarily.

For a while, the players of God's Domain were bewildered by these changes to the NPCs. Some found the changes novel, while others found them flabbergasting. However, most players rejoiced at these changes.
Such sentient NPCs were simply unheard-of. The players felt as if they had actually come to another world. This was especially true when they heard these NPCs discussing them. The NPCs would even rave about the experts among players.
Some well-known expert players even had fans among the NPCs, a situation ordinary players couldn't help envying.
However, unlike ordinary players, God's Domain's various major powers were far less delighted at these changes. In fact, these sudden changes were practically fatal to some of the smaller Guilds.
This was because the major update didn't just grant NPCs their own thoughts. The monsters out in the fields had also become much more troublesome to handle. This was especially true for monsters at the Lord rank or above. The wealth of combat experience they possessed made them even stronger than experts in terms of combat standards.
A Lord ranked monster could easily pummel a Tier 2 expert of the same level. Some Great Lords could even contend against Tier 3 experts.
However, this still wasn't the worst part. The truly terrible change the major update brought was the removal of fixed Dungeons.
Dungeons were a stable source of equipment and materials for the various major powers in God's Domain. Quite a number of Guilds would grind low-level Dungeons for all sorts of materials rather than raid high-level Dungeons.
In fact, small Guilds weren't the only ones to use this approach to secure materials. Even the various superpowers did so. After all, with the difficulty of high-level Dungeons, raiding them would definitely result in casualties, which would, in turn, cause the players in the team to regress.
Hence, the various superpowers took the more conservative approach to obtain materials. They would have only one vanguard team for raiding high-difficulty Dungeons. That way, they could ensure that they possessed the latest and best equipment and materials available while simultaneously having a large amount of basic materials to supply the vanguard team.
However, that all changed with the game's major update.
After the update, all the fixed Dungeons had disappeared. Now, only Dungeons that appeared at random were available. Meanwhile, some of these Dungeons were challenging, while some were a walk in the park. Moreover, every one of these Dungeons could be raided only once before they disappeared. If one didn't raid the Dungeon upon discovering it, there was a high chance someone else would raid it first.
This change dumbfounded not only the various small Guilds but even the superpowers.
With this situation, how were they supposed to develop their Guilds from now on?
Similarly, the various adventurer teams in God's Domain also started growing uneasy.
Not only did resources grow scarcer, but NPCs had even emerged as competitors. One could easily imagine how intense the fight for resources would become in the future. The various superpowers might even remove their disguises and start fighting and competing for real.

Silverwing City, Zero Wing's Residence, Guild Leader's Office:
"Guild Leader, everyone's arrived," Liang Jing reported as she looked at Shi Feng, who was arranging the latest information on God's Domain.
"Are Aqua Rose and Gentle Snow also here?" Shi Feng asked.
Although Aqua Rose and Gentle Snow had already exited the space-time maze, as they were transported to a special location, they couldn't contact others through the game at all. They could only contact others through the real world.
"They're here, but…" Hesitation appeared on Liang Jing's face.
Puzzled, Shi Feng asked, "But what?"
Tentatively, Liang Jing whispered, "I might be mistaken, but when I saw them just now, they felt alien."

    Why do all endings have to be so cliche?! I don't see a pinch of realism in these fictional romance novels. The starting is happily normal, the ending is too and has just a tiny ounce of contreversial issues in between which doesn't fail to go resolved at the very ending. What is love anyways? Something which I have never experienced and don't plan to either. I'm probably gonna quit with these romance novels which I just sorta started reading, without being able to analyse or desipher the concept because this world has a rather alternate definition of 'love'. Happy endings might probably happen in an alternate phase of human life, or should I say... an alternate phase of non-human existence. But I don't think I'm anywhere in a place to judge these fluctuating human emotions for I have absolutely none of them and I'm distinctly pleasured to be so. I know, I'm sixteen and this is the teenage phase of life where people more likely tend to go through emotional intercourse and willingly or not seek to establish stable anchorings for their consistent or more likely inconsistent feelings and biased love. 
    "Cassandra!", my mom calls out. My opinion on her? Let's say it is sorta addled. Yes, she has sacrificed a lot for me and she deserves to be rewarded with all my love. I did try, to love her I mean, but the problem is how can I give any when I lack it. She loves me to death, at least that's what she says, although I don't know because I lack the ability to interpret emotions. According to some, it is an obvious manifestation that a mother loves her child so I find no harm in believing it, but my feeling just dont reflect that of hers. Those non existing feelings of mine. I tried to conceive some love but eventually ended up being looked upon as a cybork by some, resulting in me forsaking those futile efforts.
    I lazily get off my bed and go to freshen up. I look at my reflection in the mirror. She looks just like me- the same wavy chestnut coloured hair, emerald green deepest eyes, arching eyebrows with long eyelashes, bow-shaped lips and slightly blushy cheeks. According to my mom, I'm beautiful, but I beg to differ. I don't think I'm ugly but I don't think I'm pretty either. I remember a few of my friends used to call me pretty and a few guys trying to ask me out and all but I just can't decipher beauty I guess. I don't really have any friends now because socializing is not my thing. There was a time when I used to have friends. Then, I used to just go with the flow, I didn't use to contemplate on internal meanings of love or whatsoever. Eventually I started reading some novels to pass time and that is when I started to try to desipher the wordly internal sensations. Just try. I never succeeded and I ended up not interacting with my living environment unconsciously in an effort to upskill myself to these human sentiments. I'm used to it this way even though I don't try to evolve any feelings anymore. 
       The girl who I'm looking at in the mirror looks same like me in all physical aspects, but I feel as though we are not totally alike on the inside. Her eyes show some kind of feelings which are moulding on the internal core convincing some type of emotional sensation. Feelings which I never had and which I still fail to interpret. There are some sensitive emotions which she struggles to suppress and conceal. A small quantity of these unknown sentiments are unconciously being reflected through her eyes. 
     I have been devoid of all emotions as soon my father left me and my mom three years ago, not that I had any genuine ones before, although I used to think I did. Later I realized how wrong I was. I can't have any emotions when I can't comprehend them. From then, I kept to myself barely interacting with my social surroundings. This had and still has got my mom all worried about me and thought I was suffering with depression. She even had me consulting a few psychiatrists who just gave a few pills to which I remained neutral throughout. But I'm not in depression. Or am I? I don't know and I don't think I will ever know.

The story of [Kunlun] took place at the end of the Song Dynasty with the transition into the early Yuan Dynasty, the novel told the story of Liang Xiao a genius strategist and pugilist who's forced to put his prodigal ways behind him when he's drawn into the chaos of the changing times. The whole book was about a million words, the plot had its ups and downs and contained many elements, such as chivalry, love, hatred, family and country.
The whole work was full of spirit and intricate subjects such as astronomy, geography, mathematics, platoon arrangement and so on.
Before Jiang Cheng in his previous life went abroad, [Kunlun] was being serialized and was being published in the magazine: [Legends of Martial Arts]. At that time, Jiang Cheng was busy with his studies and had a lot of things to handle, but he still bought copies of [Legends of Martial Arts] every two weeks, just to catch up and follow [Kunlun] until its serialization was completed.

He had led the Mongrol/Yuan Army to conquer Xiangyang after his sister was beaten to death by Song rebels. 
Liang Xiao had lost his parents in childhood, and experienced multiple hardships. And despite his intelligence, he was prone to letting his emotions take over and disrupt his rationale. 
So in order to gain his revenge, he actually stood on the side of the Mongols and helped them attack Xiangyang. Despite his dislike for killing and his brain telling him not to, he went to war on emotion and only when he saw Xiangyang razed to the ground and become the very definition of hell on earth, did he realise how big a mistake he had made. He had become like the very people he spat in disgust at, he had brought endless killing and suffering to the world. 
Reading that section back in the day, Jiang Cheng had felt torn seeing how Liang Xiao reacted and took it.
 Did Liang Xiao really do something wrong? In the eyes of the Song citizens,of course, it was a heinous crime. As rebels and soldiers of the Song Dynasty naturally they would. But they were among the same people calling for the death of the Yuan Dynasty and death of its supporters.
Maybe it was because he was young and feeling rebellious but Jiang Cheng at that time was annoyed at Liang Xiao's reaction. Why was he acting so down and out, he had got his revenge hadn't he, they had deserved it, had been his thoughts.
