"You asked for it, shorty!" Lucky Riot didn't mince words any further. His body shot forward mysteriously, the qi shadow surrounding his lower half made seem as if he were a serpent. 

Surfing Killer Moccasin Step!

"Qi manifestation! It's really qi manifestation!" Sir Wale was stunned into speechlessness. He suddenly realized he had been worried about the health of the wrong student.

Before anyone but the instructor realized it, Lucky already covered the 10-meter gap separating himself and Curtis Liverpool, so rapidly that the latter failed to react in time. Once Lucky was within one meter of his opponent, he suddenly leaped forward and spun his body 360 degrees while throwing out a series of meteor-like punches! A dozen sky blue fist shadows assaulted the opponent before bursting into thunderous booms.

To Curtis Liverpool, each and every punch was like a thousand-pound boulder hurtling toward his face, chest, and kidneys at 110 miles per hour!

"Taste my new technique, Collapsing Waves Fist: Barrage of One Hundred Waves!" 

Lucky Riot's fist shadows landed on Curtis' body 15 times in rapid succession, making his body repeatedly buckle like a lifeless training dummy. The impact of each punch felt as if the boulder-like weight was suddenly exploding into a molten rock as it hit him, causing even more damage! What Curtis didn't know was that this was the subtle effect of primal qi. If Lucky were to manifest his volatile primal essence qi outside of his body, then this effect would be far more damaging. 

Just from holding back, Lucky had even suffered minor injuries to his fist and arm, even some of his blood vessels ruptured. However, he kept punching in spite of the pain. To his shock, his injured wrist started healing almost immediately.

This was Lucky's first time testing out this new technique. He had adapted this technique after surpassing the Great Perfection level of the first style of the Water God Fist Arts. Once one surpassed the Great Perfection level, they reached the Original level! At the Original level, you made the skill your own and walked down a new path of mastery.

The Collapsing Waves Fist: Barrage of One Hundred Waves was exactly an Original Skill.

When the 16th punch landed square in Curtis Liverpool's gut, he immediate coughed out blood, before slumping to his knees. Curtis' eyes were stained with disbelief and unwillingness. He hadn't even made a move, yet he felt like he was on the verge of death! If he knew Kasino was so strong, so fast, then he definitely would not have let him attack first. Perhaps, he wouldn't dare to fight this savage at all!

Barf!

Curtis couldn't hold in his pain, and his dinner from the previous night painted the platform in filth. Lucky sneered indifferently and then walked calmly towards the dumbstruck junior instructor Sir Wale. 

"{:-O!" Sir Wale's mouth hung open in an 'O' shape. He was awe and assumed a stunning posture as if he was frozen by the shock of the results.

"Whew~! Lucky, go, go! Yeah! Beat him, beat him!"

"Ho. Ly. SHIT!"

"What the hell just happened?"

"Is this the strength of the record-breaker? Tough."

"That bastard hurt my Curtis! Curtis baby, are you okay?!"

There were different reactions around the grounds. Below the platform, a young man who possessed a rather majestic air around himself had a strange glint in his eyes after watching this fight. This young man was the size of an average adult male, right under six feet tall, with long brown dreads that hung to his mid-back, and emotionless eyes. Lucky couldn't help but briefly match the gaze of this young man. He felt inwardly astounded once his Perceptive Force State's psyche touched the young man because as soon as it happened, the young man frowned. Lucky quickly retracted his psyche and gave the young man an apologetic nod. The young man seemed appeased, as his face once again became devoid of emotion. 

Of course, Lucky Riot only made this gesture because he knew who this young man was. He was the only previous classmate whom Lucky admired from the bottom of his heart! This was the young phenom of the Sinatra clan, Caine Sinatra! 

Many students misunderstood this interaction.

"So he was friends with the Sonata Slayer? No wonder, no wonder. Indeed, birds of a feather flock together. They're both so strong and ruthless."

"Caine actually interacted with someone?! I'm stunned." 

"Should be the other who interacts with him, right? Anyway, don't force it, he's not that hot. He's just at the seventh level with us juniors."

Meanwhile, even the other half of the class had noticed the commotion. Across the field, even the senior instructor, a scholarly looking middle-aged man wearing glasses and regal attire, had a sharp light flash in his eyes as he observed secretly from a distance. 

'The boy is so similar to you in looks that it's scary… However, as his mother said, he is far more… rambunctious indeed,' thought senior instructor Phenomenal Maze. 'How do we tame this mad young man, ah…'

Kenneth Royale was also across the field since he had reached the eighth level of the Hardbody Stage already. He gnashed his teeth, watching Lucky, and swore to slay this annoyance at the first opportunity.

Violet Mercy had stopped her exercise halfway through due to her shock and irritation. Did Kasino just… move so swiftly that even she could barely keep up with his movements? And then he decimated that Curtis Liverpool, whom Violet remembered had once tried to court her. Curtis got defeated in less than 20 punches, less than two full breaths of time. She didn't even believe that she could beat Curtis Liverpool so swiftly. This was genuinely maddening for Violet. 

How could this possibly be her ex-fiancé?

If he possessed such strength, such potential, then wouldn't that mean… that her family, the teachers, her new boyfriend, everyone who persuaded her to abandon him were wrong about him?

That she… was wrong about him?

"No… it can't be true… right?" Violet Mercy thought to herself, as she stared in disbelief at the scene on the platform. "No… no… no… why now, why would it be now…"

Less than a week ago, Violet Mercy had crossed a line she thought she was safe to cross. Now she felt so confused.

"Is that him?" came a deep voice from behind her. Violet was startled back to reality and spun around anxiously.

"Jimmy, you don't need too…" Violet grabbed Jim's arm, and reflexively tried to dissuade her boyfriend before he reacted too aggressively. That passionate, if not violent, side of him is what she found attractive in the first place. Violet didn't know if this attracted her because it reminded her of a more assertive Lucky… or if she only liked Lucky because he was like a more reserved version of Jimmy.

Jim Mercury was tall, muscular, and had the physique matching a pro wrestler. He had sharp eyes that were light blue in color and curly brown hair, tied back in a ponytail. His skin was pale, but his face was somewhat angular. He stood at close to eight feet tall and approached the expert level of strength. Jim Mercury's fire arts were solid, and he was already a Silver Rank 1-Star Magus.

Thanks to the body strengthening tablets and mystic freedom tablets that Jimmy had provided her when trying to win her affection, Violet herself was Bronze Rank 1-Star Magus, who was close to reaching the next sub-rank. With Jimmy's help, she felt like she would complete her second arcane circle in no time and ascend to the next sub-rank. This would make her family back in Acadia's Kairo City immensely proud of her! 

Violet finally felt like she found a man she could depend on… it was a feeling she didn't realize she was missing until she had it.

She always secretly resented Lucky for being too weak to protect her… and having nothing to offer outside of friendship.

The difference in security, mixed with the pressures from her family made Violet Mercy chose to commit to Jimmy. She thought it would make her family happy that she had chosen someone stronger than Lucky, with a strong family background that could likely intimidate the other's family. After all, Jimmy's family had taken over an entire city, even the Twelve Judgement Stars couldn't stop them! Of course, she didn't want any trouble to befall Lucky or his family. 

However, how could she marry the immortal trash or cockroach or whatever they were calling him back then? Where would she put her face once their engagement went totally public?

How could the renowned number one angel of Thoth Academy, give her life to the number one wretch?! She had developed these thoughts after spending years in the same class with the Lucky Riot, who never managed to progress. While she was worshipped continuously and adored as a living breathing angel of great talent and bearing. Only recently had others started to consider Margot Frenzy more beautiful than herself, and before today Violet assumed this was because she had already entered the Advanced Academy. The masses weren't able to see her any longer, as Jimmy didn't like the way men ogled her.

In short, Violet Mercury had long since grown arrogant. Of course, seeing Margot Frenzy today made her realize that this girl was indeed becoming more beautiful.

Violet had long since lost faith in Lucky after endless persuasion from her family… she even felt disdain for him. On the outside, she treated him and Capital the same as always. In reality, Violet only bided her time in her heart. After all, they really were her childhood friends. After making it to the Advanced Academy as a Prefect, the other students and even the teachers had told her to let them go. That her life was destined to reach heights that such characters could never imagine. She was taught the secrets of the world and made an oath to never betray that knowledge! At first, she remained loyal to her fiancé and best friend. However, after meeting Jimmy, she slowly changed her stance. Jimmy doted on her, and his aggressive and persistent approach successfully seduced her.

The day they crossed the line was the day Violet gave Jimmy everything.

That day destined Violet to never be friends with Lucky again, much less marry him. How could she talk with him like before when she had already given her all to another man? Forget the idea of marrying him.

From what Violet knew, Lucky would definitely never accept this.

Before today, this mattered to her less and less.

However, Violet's heart currently faced anguish and turmoil.

"Don't bother," Jim Mercury removed Violet's arm from his own in a rough manner, as he spoke to her with disdain, "To think that you still covet this trash. How embarrassing."

"Jimmy, it's nothing, okay?" Violet said in a low voice, less the senior instructor catch them, "I was just surprised, that's it. I'm yours, baby, all yours."

"Hmph," snorted Jim. He was clearly dissatisfied, as a mystic wave of heat begin to emanate from his body, "If he so much as looks at you again, it will be the last time his eyes function properly!"

"No, Jim, stop it!" said Violet anxiously. She definitely didn't want this to escalate, and part of her desperately hoped Lucky would not discover the truth about her and Jimmy before she could break things off with him herself. Now that things had come to this, all she could do was tell him that she wanted a divorce. "I'll speak with him on my own, okay? I'll make sure he knows that I am no longer something he can dream of obtaining."

"You had better, Violet. For if you don't, then I will," spat Jim Mercury furiously. Violet said some more soothing words, and then returned to her morning exercises. However, her body suddenly shook, and she felt like someone's gaze had just left her. Violet suddenly grew horrified. Merely, she wasn't brave enough to turn around again. Behind them, Kenneth Royale smiled evilly as his thoughts changed after witnessing that little lover's quarrel. Unlike Lucky, Kenneth had already managed to break through to the eighth level of the Hardbody Mystic Stage. After eavesdropping on this juicy conversation, he formed a conspiracy. 

Maybe he would have another method to deal with that waste, Kasino.

Merely, if Kenneth was able to overhear, then how could any of this escape the perception of Lucky Riot? He had been zoned in on Violet since he first noticed her. His perceptive force had grown powerful enough to reflect smells, sounds, and the general outline of the surroundings for 50 meters around himself. The perception was only clearer if he focused on a target, and the range also doubled.

Although he couldn't hear everything clearly, he had heard enough to understand the situation. Lucky grumbled and sucked his teeth, "So it turns out you were so cheap, tch."

Lucky felt a bit hurt, but he wasn't so torn up about it. After all, this was a marriage set up by his step father, whom he hated. If it weren't for Violet being so beautiful and pleasant as a friend, Lucky would have never trusted her even for a second. It seems he should never have done so at all.

Lucky reminded himself to never let a pretty face lead him astray. After learning what Amenophis had told him about Marc Raizen, he could only label this chick as a double agent. Lucky decided to trust nothing that had anything to do with his step-father. It was likely all a trap to destroy himself. Even the love of his life, his own mother, was now in question until further investigation. After all, she married the creep and has been with him Lucky's entire life. They even had a child together!

This was not a sensible decision. Therefore, Lucky had to assume that this woman might have lost her right mind at some point.

"To think, I almost let myself get caught up in infatuation," Lucky felt disdain for himself of ten minutes ago. He turned toward the voice of the loudest cheer and looked at Margot Frenzy. She currently yelled in excitement like a freak, in his honor, and a smile crept onto Lucky's face. He actually felt quite warm. So what if the purple chick was loose? He still had genuine friends, and newfound love to call his own. Lucky decided to look for Bravo later to reconcile their differences.

After all, they were going to be family eventually. After the other night, Margot Frenzy already belonged to Lucky Riot in mind and body.

This smile of Lucky's actually dazzled a few of the girls in the surroundings, and Maggie was no exception. She blushed and turned away, seeing the heat in her man's gaze.

"Oh wow…" said a tall female warrior with a magnificent physique and attractive features, "I think… I'm falling for him."

"No way, Rhonda, weren't you just calling him a waste?" said one of her admirers despairingly. He was a short young man with broad shoulders and blonde hair, wearing an expensive-looking helmet. He sounded utterly unsatisfied as he spat in contempt, "That kid has a little skill, I'll admit that. However, I believe that it was Curtis underestimating the opposition that led to his downfall, more so than this kid's prowess or anything else. He's tough, but could he be as tough as us who have spent years in the Advanced Academy?"

"Everyone makes mistakes, Timmy… do you think yourself stronger than that new guy with the dreads?" said Rhonda Nottingham with a sparkle in her eyes. However, she suddenly caught a chill. 

It felt like a fierce beast lurked nearby. 

When she turned her head, she saw Margot Frenzy staring daggers at her, making a cold sweat appear on her back. However, she still let her gaze, which contained a particular heat, return to that ever so handsome brown boy on the platform. His prowess in the previous fight had even made her sticky, "I made a mistake before… and you're making the same one now. He's not normal. At least I wouldn't be able to defeat Liverpool in such an imposing and effortless manner. What was that attack again? Collapsing Waves Fist: Barrage of One Hundred Waves, or something? Such style! I wonder where he learned such a technique? Could he really be a noble disguised as a commoner? No commoner can fight like that!"

"Tch," Timothy Casque sucked his teeth in indignation, before replying in his mind, "If I manage to break through to the eighth level, what will he even count as?"

Of course, he didn't dare to say this out loud. Breaking through to the eighth level from seventh was almost equivalent to traversing two levels instead of one. If a warrior with a seventh level Hard Body had double the strength of a sixth level practitioner, then an eighth level hard body's power increased by at least 3.5 from the seventh level!

All of this was due to one reason alone. Mystic essence strength! Once at the eighth level, a Hard Body Stage practitioner would be able to release mystical essence from their bodies in different forms. For a magus is this would be refined into magic power or mana. For a warrior, it was refined into natural force, also called qi! This was the fundamental stage for all warriors because, after the eighth level of the Hardbody realm, the journey of mystic artists truly began!

Anyone under the eighth level simply didn't understand the outside world at all. Unless they hailed from prominent families that were willing to instruct them on these things.

Lucky Riot remained unaware of these few ogling girls' antics, and even less aware that he had another jealous sap painting a target on his back. After his thoughts of Maggie passed, so did his near dazzling smile. His face returned to the picture of indifference. The radiance of said smile already stunned many people, including those who may have previously known Lucky.

After all, his genuine smiling face from before was not something this young man showed very easily. It could be said to be as rare as seeing a purple unicorn with a platinum horn.

"Instructor, don't you want to announce the results?" Called out Margot Frenzy, annoyed with all the female warriors that kept ogling Lucky, and the males who looked on spitefully. At this point, she just wanted him to descend from the platform, or she would have to go up!

"Should I yield due to someone claiming their birth is nobler than my own? No! If they say I can not have her, I will make her mine regardless! If they consider me slow, I will outpace them! If they consider me a minor character, I will outgrow them! If they say I am inferior, I will simply surpass them! Who will stop me then?"

Seating herself at a table at the corner of the cabin, Debbie sighted the dark, velvety skies studded with diamonds. Accompanied by the sounds of waves crashing upon the surface of the water as she dined upon exquisite snacks, her mood lifted. A gust of the cold, sea breeze blew and kissed her skin. As much as she loved the sensation, Debbie stood up and proceeded to put the window to a tight shut. They all had exited the clothing store with haste, failing to notice that her wrap had been left behind. Fortunately, there was heating in the cabins. Otherwise, she had to think of surviving a possible frostbite.


Only accompanied by her shadow, Debbie waited and waited, indulging herself with delicious food. Not once did it bother her that the party hadn't started. Dealing with boredom was simple.  


Reveling in eating snacks, Debbie felt her throat grow torrid. She went to fetch herself a beverage and overheard a conversation regarding the Lu family. Apparently, they were looking forward to the arrival of an esteemed guest, without whose presence, the party would never start nor the boat sail.  


Silence shattered. All women shuffled to the door in furor, but the same couldn't be applied to Debbie as she remained seated and eyeballed the scene.  


All the women seemed to belong in well-heeled families. A big thrill was apparent on everyone's face, but their refinement kept them from shrieking.  


Within half a minute, Debbie finally knew the source of their excitement.  


The food section was stationed higher than the others, enabling her to have a view of the commotion at the door clearly. It was him. None other than her husband. The richest bachelor in Y City, they referred to him as, since few people in the city knew about their marriage.  


The revered guest the Lu family and all the others had been waiting for had finally shown his face. In the moment Carlos showed up, the boat blew its horns, departing to sail the sea. The festivities commenced.  


Despite possessing such a rowdy personality, Debbie knew when to steer out of trouble.  


It was never her wish to instigate conflict with Carlos, especially in public. But, the petty man himself had been testing her patience. Just like that, Debbie avoided him like a plague.  


Carlos and his date graced the floor by having the first dance. All had eyes on the two, dreamily sighing as they took in the view except for Debbie as she sneered. The woman was unforgettable for her as she had insulted her at the mall just a few days ago.  


And there was another couple. 'Wait…' Debbie observed the couple closely. 'Is that the principal? Curtis Lu?' Briskly shaking her head, Debbie debated if she was seeing right, especially with the amount of food and beverages she had consumed.  


Realization struck her mind. She folded her arms. 'Duh, it's a party thrown by his family. Of course, he'd be here.' In a chocolate brown dress, Curtis' date looked chic and stunning.  


First dance over, claps and cheers echoed throughout the cabin. Even Debbie herself clapped, but solely for Curtis and his date.  


The crowd dispersed to seize their favorite activities. People gathered here and there while some remained in the cabin or on the deck. They drank, cheered, spoke, and laughed merrily. All seemed happy.  


However, wise people could see that most people just shared shallow, meaningless things to one another. Sure they could exchange greetings, be polite, sing and dance, as well as share drinks. But, all of this had no substance because none of them would share their genuine thoughts.  


As for Debbie's friend Jared who she had come with, she saw him succeed in picking up two girls and flirt with them.  



A short sigh escaped her lips after she had shaken her head. Hunger sated, Debbie decided to stroll around the deck and savor the view nature offered.  


The deck was rather crowded. When the wind gusted, she felt the cold sting her skin. It was frigid outside.  


Heading for the cabin with the intentions of borrowing Jared's jacket, she came to a full stop when she saw how intimate he and one of the girls he had flirted with were as he leaned forward for a kiss. Unable to press on with her own intentions, Debbie turned back.  


Leaning against the rails, gazing at the sea, she snickered, 'Jared is a guy after all. I shouldn't be so surprised. Men are considered to be powerless in front of alluring women.'  


An unwelcoming thought perturbed her. 'If I looked ugly… would Jared still want to be my friend?'  


"Debbie?" a gentle voice called out, breaking her line of thought.  


Tucking a lock of her hair behind her ears, she turned towards the voice. It was Curtis. "Good evening, Mr. Lu,"  she greeted politely as he had been with her.  


Acting tough or authoritative never worked on Debbie. So far, she was fond of the way Curtis taught others, which was soft and gradual, just like his personality.  



Eyes falling upon Debbie's exposed skin, Curtis sighed as he took off his blazer and draped it on her shoulder.  


"It's cold out here. Why didn't you stay inside?" he asked.  


Warmth filled Debbie's body when she heard Curtis' earnest concern. "I ate way too much, so I came out here to make the food settle down my stomach for a bit." Accepting his gesture was something Debbie needed at the moment as she had been freezing in the cool sea breeze.  


"Oh, I see." Curtis looked amused at Debbie's response. "Did you come here with Jared?"    

"Yes."


"That lad's a player,"  he said as he rested his arms on the rails, looking out to the vast sea. "He left you as soon as he saw that pretty girl."  



"It's fine. He's single." Debbie tittered. "He has the right to be happy and date whoever he wants."  


The subject then changed. "Come. I want you to meet someone."  


"Eh? Who?" Debbie was lost at Curtis' words. Why would he want to introduce someone to her? Did he treat everyone so nicely? Or was it just her?  


Instead of offering a response, Curtis stretched out his hand, embodying chivalry. There was not much of a choice. In resignation, Debbie agreed and followed him back to the cabin.    

Inside the Food Section    

There were three people Curtis had led Debbie to: Carlos, Olga, and that woman who had shared a dance with Curtis. The sight of the first two made her stomach churn.


'Carlos? Are you kidding me?'  


While Curtis had greeted the three urbanely, his friend Carlos cast sharp glares that could be mistaken for daggers. Every second was torment. Anger welled up inside Debbie's body, taking shape of a bomb that was ticking, ready to explode. Without a word, she turned to leave, but Curtis outstretched his hand and prevented her from progressing. "Debbie, this is Carlos Huo, my good buddy. This is Olga Mi, his date. And this is my girlfriend, Colleen Song." Adjusting his glance to Colleen Song, he smiled. "Colleen, this is Debbie Nian."


Put on the spot, Debbie inwardly sighed before turning around to face Colleen Song. Ignoring the other two, she sauntered to her and beamed. "Hi, Colleen. It's nice to meet you." Numerous questions rushed into her mind. In no way were Debbie and Curtis close, so why did he want her to meet his girlfriend? To add, they had never even talked except at school before. Nothing made sense.  


Tenderly taking Debbie's hand, Colleen Song smiled delicately. "Hi, Debbie. I've heard so much about you. You are so beautiful." Unknowing how to react to the compliments thrown unto her, Debbie turned tight lipped and just focused on Colleen Song's voice, which was soft and mellow.  


"We're friends now, so if you ever need anything, just ask, okay?" 


Never did Debbie expect to be flattered to this extent. Both girls had smiles, sharing the tender moment until a voice shattered it into nothingness. "Colleen, you must remember, not anyone can be a friend. You need to open your eyes and don't be fooled by the surface as a putrid soul may like within." 


Both Colleen Song and Curtis looked at Carlos, aghast. Curtis had anticipated that they might not be pleased to see each other, but this was belligerent. 


Even with Carlos' contempt against women, he had never uttered degrading words to any woman as there was no need to. When a woman came on too strong and struck against him like gum underneath a shoe, a simple sentence uttered from his lips could bring forth hell. 


'What's this all about? Is this because of what Debbie said I the video?' Curtis pondered to himself, trying to understand the situation.

After a wonderful summer vacation, it was finally time to go to college for the first time. I had spent the whole entire summer packing, and deciding what things should stay behind as well as the things I should give away.


It was depressing to say goodbye to Matthew. We had all said goodbye to him as a group, but we couldn't have a farewell party because he had his grad party the night before with his family.


Instead, we had a group get together at a restaurant to say goodbye to him. Well, we all had burgers and milkshakes.


The saddest person other than me was surprisingly James. It seemed that in a way the two had become closer over the last couple months.


Matthew left that night.


His phone still worked, and he texted me from time to time over that summer vacation, but the texts became less and less frequent.


It seemed that he had settled into England pretty well, and he was loving the Oxford campus a lot. He had met new people, and had also started attending business meetings with his father.


He seemed to be happy.


Meanwhile, I was enjoying my summer by going to the beach and hanging out with friends as well with family. I was enjoying every last minute of it. It was quite a relaxing summer, perfect for before the first year of college.


However, then I found myself ready to go to UCLA.


My bags were packed, and in the car. My family was gathered, and a few of my friends. And... James was there too, speaking with some of my relatives.


I gave a hug to each person there, and then got into my car to drive off. James also decided to leave the same time that I did. And so, we began our drives to college.


Many hours and cups of coffee later, I found myself on the UCLA campus. It was gorgeous, and I was so happy to find myself finally there.


"Hello, UCLA," I murmured under my breath. "My name's Miyah, and I'm so ready for this year."


But... I missed James. I missed Matthew. I already missed my family...


It was going to be a long year...


I bit my bottom lip.


It was too late now to turn back.


I parked my car in front of the administration building, and then entered the edifice. The lady at the front desk was kind enough to give me my schedule and help point out where the dorms were.


Then, I went to go find my dorm. When I got there, there was a girl there on one of the beds already. Her hair was red, and she had it up in a ponytail. Her eyes were brown, but a beautiful shade of the color. She glanced over at me, and then got up. "Ah! You must be one of my roommates!"


I nodded.


She stuck her hand out. "Hey, I'm Kyan Knights. Strange name, I know. Whatever. What's your name?"


I blinked once. It almost seemed as if she had chugged down an ounce of sugar and then five cups of coffee. "Nice to meet you," I said as I reached out my hand for a handshake. "The name's Miyah. Miyah Hatfield."


"It's a pleasure," she responded.


We let go of each others hands, and spent the time getting to know each other better.


We both liked the color blue, specifically turquoise. We both came from smaller towns in California, and had managed to get into our dream school.


"Oh. Also, I'm part of the softball team," she added.


"That's awesome!" I said.


Suddenly, the door was swung open, and two other girls entered. They froze when they saw us, but then smiled. "We're the other two roommates."


The one to the left was blonde, tall, and had curly hair. Naturally, her eyes were blue. In a way, they reminded me of James's eyes, since they were nearly the same shade of blue. Yet... James's was a bit warmer than her eyes were.


The one to the right had black hair that went down to her waist and bangs. She was much shorter than the girl to the left.


The girl to the right introduced herself first. "Hello. I'm Kloe Trujillo."


"I'm Ellenor Greenaway," the blonde one to the left said soon after.


After that, we all got to know each other better.


My first class was exciting, and I had it with Ellenor. I was very excited, and quite content that I was able to have my first class with someone that I knew. However, when we went to class, she immediately began to socialize, and I was left on my own.


She ditched me.


I let out a sigh, and set my gaze on a random seat. There was already someone sitting next to it. I neared the seat, and asked, "Can I sit here?"


The guy nodded.


"Thank you," I said as I sat down. After a pause, I decided that it would be best for me to introduce myself. "I'm Miyah."


"I'm Miles."


"Nice to meet you."


"Likewise."


The class was about creative writing. It was an elective course, but I had wanted to take one class that I would enjoy before taking more classes that would be more career related.


And it seemed as if the class was quite enjoyable. The first day we were allowed to write whatever came to our minds, and then we were dismissed. After getting the syllabus, of course.


Miles was an interesting guy. It seemed like he was going to major in computer sciences, but he also enjoyed writing, and thus decided to join the class.


He lived in LA, so he commuted from nearby, although I wasn't too sure what 'nearby' meant.


Once class ended, I had another class to attend, and I had this class with Kloe. She, unlike Ellenor, stayed by my side the whole entire class period. I got to know her a lot better, and decided I liked her.


I was not to keen about Ellenor, but I would tolerate her.


My first day at UCLA was great. And I was happy.

"We probably looked like a couple crazy in love. But, of course we would. We had concocted our pretend relationship perfectly, keeping the mask on until we could turn and hiss at each other in private once again. In an ironic way, the guy I hated the most was also the only person who knew the real me."




Miyah knew James since they were young. Yet, Miyah can't stand the guy...

One day, as James gets surrounded by friends and girls that are interested in him, he suddenly announces that he and Miyah are dating. 

Miyah decides to play along. However, she's always had feelings for her old best friend from elementary, whom she sees once again.

Heidi turned the page of the book that was laid in front of her on the table as she read the next paragraph, murmuring to herself, she dipped the feathered quill in an inky black bottle and began to write down in the book.
"Is that the best you can do? Please write the words neatly, Ms. Curtis. Even my horse can write better than that."
It would be better if Mr. Warren marries the horse, thought Heidi while trying to write the words continuously. Heidi who had been having ample amount of time these past few days had suddenly found herself with an educator due to which she had to spend most of her time in a closed room learning what the lady had to teach her. It was her fourth day with the tutor who visited thrice in a week, this being the second week. Unfortunately when she was a child, her mother had been happy enough to see her write and it hadn't mattered then if the words were split or linked to each other but it did now. Especially to her educator, Ms. Eveline Moate.
Eveline Moate, was a woman in her early twenties, who specialized in giving lessons to young blooming girls in the elite society. As Heidi was a human, Lord Nicholas and Warren had decided to get her a human tutor. The woman now drank her tea from the cup the maid had previously brought in to the room, her slender fingers placed the saucer down while her teeth clicked seeing the girl's handwriting.
"I don't think people care about it-"
"Ms. Curtis," her tutor interrupted her a little exasperated with her, "I have been told that you haven't taken interest in your education before but it would be wise to take it up now. The vampire world is no less to a human one. As silly as you find it, it is important than you learn how to write because it isn't just your appearance next to Mr. Lawson but also the fact that it is the lady who is responsible in sending letters out to the people in and out of your circle. We will first start with the basic things before leaping into books. So I suggest to stop talking and continue writing."
When the tutor left for the day, Heidi sighed while continuing to write the last page which was asked before her tutor had left. At first she had been happy and eager to learn instead of sitting idle in the mansion with nothing to do but as the woman had said, she had started with the basics and even though it was tiresome Heidi made sure to follow not wanting any complaints to reach either Mr. Lawson or the Lord's ears.
Now that she was here, this was all she could do. She couldn't afford to make any mistakes at the fear of what news would be sent to the Duke who held old Howard in his mansion as a prisoner. Remembering the night she was taken back to Woville after trying to escape, her hand stopped moving on the book and she set the quill down. Though Howard held no ill feelings against her even though she was the reason he was in the current state, it didn't mean she wasn't guilty about it. She had grown up knowing the man and had witnessed to see his black hair turn white as years passed. She wasn't the kind to sacrifice someone for her profit and she was never raised by her mother to be selfish. At the thought of her mother, she wondered what she would have advised if she was still alive.
She had no one to ask or to depend on in this world. Whomever she had depended on were taken away from her, not quickly but eventually. As a child, the fear had been instilled into her mind which had carried itself as she grew up. That evening, Heidi was alone at the table during dinner as the Lord and Mr. Lawson had gone out for different reasons which she was not aware of.
"How do you like the food, Ms. Curtis? I asked the cook to prepare everything you might like," said the butler, pouring a glass of water and drinking it himself.
"I think this one is tasty and even the fish, though I have to say I have never eaten fishes like this," she replied picking the white meat on her plate and placing it in her mouth and after swallowing it she said, "Thank you for being thoughtful, Stanley. I don't think I have been treated to food like this since my mother passed away."
"I am sorry to hear that," the butler bowed his head, "She must have been an admirable woman."
"She was," Heidi smiled fondly thinking about her mother. Even though Helen wasn't her biological mother, Heidi didn't consider her any less from her own mother. She was an orphan and as far as she could remember she didn't known her actual family. There were times when she would wonder how life could have turned if she weren't an orphan and if there was still a chance of finding her blood related parents, but even she knew it was impossible.
"Mother loved us a lot. I think all mothers do but she would go an extra length by picking up a day for each of us, preparing food that we liked so that none of us left out. She...also had this little stick..."
"Stick?" asked Stanley in puzzlement.
"Haha...yes, when we would step out of line. We siblings got our fair share as children."
"Ah!" the butler responded, "If I may ask, why didn't your father remarry? Surely handling three young children would be difficult."
"Oh, it's not like that. It's been only two years since she passed away and my father held my mother very dear to his heart. I don't think marrying another woman has crossed his mind," she smiled to see the butler nod his head understandingly and in flow she asked, "What about your mother?"
"My mother wasn't as commendable as yours miss," the butler replied with a smile.
When a maid entered the dining room with a small tray in her hand and placed the last course of the meal next to Ms. Curtis' bowl, the butler heard the lady murmur a thanks. Her eyes seemed to look at it carefully, taking in the white creamy texture in the glass. Seemingly, she had learnt to use the silverware as she picked the little spoon in her hand to eat.


[Year 1847]

When the Lord took a step forward, she took a step back. Taking a gulp she said, "You know, what you're doing can be considered as terrorizing."

"Well, I call it persuading."

"I believe you aren't using the right wordbook, milord."

"You didn't answer my question," the Lord was too persistent, thought Heidi to herself. It didn't look like he would let it go.

The year 1847

Heidi was an adopted child, where one of the Duke had been generous enough to take her in.  A girl, who when grew up had no idea that she would be the political bridge between the two empires. A marriage with the East Lord's relative.

Lord Nicholas with his gentle appearance and behaviour made him the White King of the Empire. A man who was the kindest to the souls around him, with only a few who knew what laid beneath that beautiful mask. What happens when a girl is responsible for bringing out the worst and the best out of him? Especially when it's his cousin's fiancee.

I am not that pleasant to the eye. I have these forever tiny pimples that take shelter on my face. And I think I have gotten big over the years of stress-eating. 

This guy in front of me does not think so though.

Or maybe he is just making fun of me and this is some kind of prank he is trying to pull off with his jock of a friends. I have seen this guy and he is the new member of the basketball team of Moordale High. I have not known him that much, but I know the basketball boys were assholes. 

This guy standing in front of me is a sophomore and it sucks that he is taller than me. He has brown curly hair, black eyes, and frickeled cheeks. And I think he is pleasant to the eyes, too pleasant.

Too straightforward to even be believable. I look boringly back at his eyes, which showed nervousness. He glances at something behind my back. The jockholes look like they are snickering. 

I grab the books from my lockers and look back at him.

"Trust me, you don't wanna be like them." I walk away from him and towards my first period. 

You see, the basketball players at my school hate me. They hate me for accidentally finding out their secret. I never meant to intrude but they were just not that careful. That's why they left me alone, sadly my proof was shattered by them, my phone, and now I had nothing against them. Just kidding, I backed it up on my laptop. I am not that fucking stupid. One more dirty move, and their parents will know that their precious innocent sons are actually not that innocent anymore. 

Wednesday is the best school day. Creative Writing is first period. And I love the subject. And I get to be with Atlas in the same room. 

I quickly go to my seat and write my thoughts and feelings of the day. Mr. Harrington has this idea of writing down what we are feeling and I don't know for what purpose. 

/I think I will be fine./

He has not yet arrived. I roll the paper and put it in the box of his table. 

I turn to my seat to find Atlas already sitting and writing down on his paper. He is 7 seats away from me. He is in front while I was at the back.

In no time, the students filled the room and Mr. Harrington started his lecture of the day. I listened to him properly but my mind keeps bringing me back to what happened this morning.

/"Your mom is coming here tomorrow, please clean your room."/ I hear my dad's voice. It was not my mom, coming to the house, that was bothering me. It was my dad. Sure, he changed. But everything was awkward at the house, he is always early for work and arrives so late. He does not look at me when he says something. We don't eat together. It's like we are two strangers living in the same house. Like housemates that are supposed to get along. We don't get along. He barely even talks to me. It has always been like that. I was always the one initiating the conversation when we eat together, which barely happens. I tell him about school and he would reply with words that are blank and I ask him about work and he'll say it's okay and the conversation ends.

/I think I will be fine/ I snap out of my thoughts and look back at Mr. Harrington who has started reading the rolled papers. 

"Whoever you are, remember that it gets better. Your day might have started badly, does not mean it ends badly, do something fun, something you want to do. It's a bad day, not a bad life." Mr. Harrington was good at motivation and making students feel better. I wonder why isn't the guidance councilor when he was better than Mrs. Yuan. 

"I beat off three tim..." the class is in hysterics, including me. "Now, what did I say about this stuff?..." He rambles on and on about the use of language and then continued to read the other papers, which of course, had plenty more unclean contents. 

I look back at Atlas, whose back I can only see. He is laughing along with the class, his broad shoulders bobbing in the process. 

He is good at poetry as well. He is good at everything he does. He is this perfect student, this perfect jock, this perfect son, this perfect boyfriend, but he will never be a perfect friend. 

Suddenly, I am so angry. Angry at him. Angry for what he has done. Angry that he gave up on our friendship. Angry that he blamed me for his parents separation when his parents actually had reunited and stayed a perfect family in town. Angry that he did not even reach out and try to recompense. Angry that he chose to be friends with assholes. Angry that he is unattainable. 

And I am angry at myself, for not being able to let go. For messing things up. For not being able to save my parents' marriage. Angry at my mother for leaving. Angry at my mother who has built a new family and they are probably talking and not awkward with each other. Angry at my father for cheating. Angry that he isn't proud of his faggot of a son that he could not even talk to let alone look at. I am angry that I chose him. 

I am angry at myself for being the way I am. I am angry that as I sit here, my eyes blinking back tears, looking at Atlas' back, I realize that I am jealous of him. That I have always been. And I hate it. 

"Mr. Jones, are you okay?" I look back at my 6'4 teacher who is now standing in front of me. I know all eyes are on me. They are probably looking at me weirdly, including Atlas. But I don't look at any.

I clear my throat.
"Um, yeah... I am okay sir."

I will always say I am okay.

Jeff, owner of the italian restaurant, discovered that for several days, Eric had changed. He was no longer distracted or in a daze, he became wholly spirited. When he entertained the guests he was no longer as awkward as before and he would also occasionally casually joke with them, Jeff even once saw him skillfully tease a thirty-year-old lady on her hippie accent, and get three times the average tip as a reward.
 
"Eric, did something happen recently, you seem very… different ?" During a break once, Jeff could finally not resist and asked. Regarding his old friend's child, he cared very much.
 
"Is it that obvious ?"  Eric asked, somewhat taken aback.
 
Jeff laughed: "It's written all over your face."
 
"It might be because I found a goal. You know people, once they have something they want to do, they'll become more driven."
 
"Oh, what goal ? Do you mind telling me ?"
 
"Of course not,"  Eric replied: "I have decided to become a director. I was writing my first script recently, it will be finished in two days." "Become… a director ?"  Jeff was somewhat surprised, he subconsciously opened his mouth, wanting to remind him to not aim too high at the beginning, but then he remembered that this child was still mourning his father and swallowed his words.
 
Despite his looks, Eric had maintained his middle-aged mind, so witnessing Jeff's reaction, he just smiled indifferently. After all, this was Hollywood, every year thousands of people came here from all over the world to pursue their dreams in the movie industry, but the successfull were few, so Jeff's reaction was to be expected.
 
"That… When you have finished writing your script,  you can show me. You have to know that in the past I also once wanted to be an actor, well my appearance was not what it is today,"  Jeff patted his large belly and continued: "In the past I was very handsome. I even played a small role in The Godfather, you know. Time flies."
 
Eric was somewhat stunned, he would have never thought that Jeff had such a past, but he quickly composed himself. Although  Eric had already revised this 1988 script as much as possible, he couldn't guarantee that there would be no flaws. As an outsider, Jeff could better help him find loopholes.
 
The two of them chatted for a while. As several guests entered the dining room, Eric hastily went forward to greet them.
 
After a day of work, Eric quickly went home, had his supper in a hurry, and proceeded to busy himself with the Jurassic Park novel and script.
 
The Jurassic Park novel was basically done, and it was time for the final proofreading. Eric planned to send photocopies to several publishing houses tomorrow. For the script however,  he had only written the outline as there were still several points that needed to be worked on. Eric had it all planned out in his mind so he only needed two days to sort things out.
 
He left home the next morning at around 7:00 am, to make several Jurassic Park copies and mail them. He had noted down the addresses of some famous North American publishing houses ahead of time, even if these large-scale publishing houses rejected Eric's draft, he would not be disappointed. It must be known that North America had tens of thousands of large and small publishing houses alike, somebody would eventually take a liking to his novel. Although Jurassic Park once rushed to the New York Times bestseller list, it wasn't technically Eric's goal, what he wanted was to own the copyrights for the movie as well as the TV rights once the novel was published.
 
"Hello, what can I do for you ?" Just as he stepped into the printing shop, a somewhat thin black female clerk warmly welcomed him.
 
Eric pulled out the manuscript from his bag: "I would like to make a few copies of this."
 
As the black girl looked at the thick stack of paper, her eyes lit up slightly and the smile on her face grew brighter: "Sir, can I take a look ?"
 
"No problem." Eric handed over the manuscript.
 
The black girl did not pay attention to the content, but counted the number of pages: "There's more than 300 pages, but I'll count it as 300. A full copy of the manuscript would be 30 US dollars, how many copies would you like sir ?"
 
30 US dollars ! Eric's mouth twitched slightly, he sighed at how expensive that was. He only had a few hundred dollars left and that was after asking for his month's salary in advance.

The man thanked her as he received the cup. His eyes followed the black girl as she manipulated what seemed to be manuscript and his eyes moved slightly. There were only three people in the shop and he couldn't help but look at Eric.
 
"If I might be so bold as to ask, is that manuscript yours ?"
 
Eric nodded: "Yes, it's a novel I just finished. I'm making several copies."
 
"You look like a high-school student, it's really impressive for someone your age."
 
"Thank you, this is actually my first novel, so I don't have that much confidence."
 
"No, one must believe in one's self. … Would you mind me reading it ?" Saying that the brown-haired man pulled out a business card and gave it to Eric: "I have a small publishing house, you see."
 
Eric received the name card and took a look:

(A purple aura surrounds Kimi and her normal soul returns)

Kimi: So, you're the man that tried to take me away from my new family.

Pinaito: I am.

Kimi: Undo what you did?

Pinaito: Of course, as long as you help me.

Kimi: Why would I ever help you?

Pinaito: Because I'm control of those monsters.

Kimi: (blinks) (then smirks) You think so.

(Kimi raises her hand as her hand glows)

(The screen shows shadow monsters stop moving and turns into sparks)

Pinaito: How amazing to see your power face to face.

Kimi: You have a plan B.

Pinaito: Clever girl.

Kimi: What do you need help with?

Pinaito: I want to make a mutant clone and you are the perfect one.

Kimi: A clone 

Pinaito: If you want to know why, read my mind.

Kimi: For your son. Odd present.

Pinaito: Well.

(Kimi takes a piece of tail, put into a bubble, and gives it to Pinaito)

Kimi: Tell your son, I said hi (flies away)

A man: Master, are you sure we should go through this?

Pinaito: Of course, his birthday is tomorrow.

(The screen switches to Kimi back to Lady J's mansion)

Little tiger: Welcome back.

Kimi: Thank you

Lady J: You need to change your clothes, we're going on a road trip.

Kimi: Got it (speeds away)

Charlie: Kimi! Wait!

(Kimi was already in her room and Charlie opens the door)

Kimi: Yes.

Charlie (holding a small box): Present.

Kimi (sparkly eyes): Aww! Thank you, I have my present for you too (winks)

Charlie: But, I thought you left your presents.

Kimi: I went back to get it.

(Kimi reveals an outfit with a hanger)

Charlie (smiles): Is that from Yuri Matsuko!?

(Kimi nodded)

Charlie (hugs Kimi): Thank you!

(Kimi blushed)

Kimi: your Welcome.

Charlie: Oh! (backs up) I'm sorry

Kimi: It's okay, Where's my present?

(Charlie opens the box, showing the necklace)

Kimi: It's a wolf necklace 

(Kimi hugs Charlie, then spins Charlie and smiles)

Charlie (thought) (as Kimi smiles): She is so cute

(Charlie puts the necklace around Kimi's neck)

Kimi (jumps): Thank you! Thank you! I love you! (Covers her mouth)

(Charlie blushed)

Charlie: I understand what you mean, by the way I have to ask you something at midnight, will you listen?

Kimi: Of course

Charlie: Great (walks away with the outfit)

(Kimi looks at the necklace and smiles)

(The screen switches to Kimi riding down the rail wearing a brown coat, shirt, pants, a complete set with a smile on her face)

(Kimi lands by Charlie)

(Charlie gives Kimi a thumbs up)

Lady J: Alright, let's go (opens the door)

(The screen switches to them in front of a lot of trees and a blonde-haired man talking to them)

The man: So, which tree would you like?

(Lady J points to the tree on the left)

The man: Okay, I'll handle it.

Lady J: That's not necessary, Kimi.

The man (confused): Huh?

(Kimi slices the tree, making it fall back, and she catches it)

The man (shocked): Whoa!

Kimi: Want one outside and Inside?

Lady J: That's perfect, my last tree got teared down (points on Kimi's right) That one.

(Kimi takes another tree and wraps both behind her)

Lady J: Super speed to the mansion, and use the decorations that are in the house.

Kimi (winks with her thumb up): Got it (speeds away)

Lady J (looks at the man): Now, as for the money 

(Rey waves a check in front of Lady J)

Lady J: You're paying?

Rey: I am (gives the ticket to Lady J) here.

Lady J: Thank you (gives the ticket to the man)

The man: Thank you (smiles)

(The screen shows Kimi speeding through road until she gets home)

(The day turns to night)

(Kimi is helping Charlie set up decorations all over the house)

(Little tiger is scanning the presents)

(Rey is taste testing some punch and smiles)

(Lady J is setting up the dance floor, music and disco ball)

Narrator (showing a red background): Five minutes later.

(The screen shows a bunch of people dancing with lights flashing everywhere)

(Little tiger is dancing with other kids)

(A girl who has long brown hair in a ponytail, wearing a purple dress and white heels named Polka dot)

Dot: So, Where's your new sister?

Little tiger: Somewhere I'm not sure 

Dot: Why not, call her

Little tiger: Good idea 

Little tiger (calls): KIMI!..

Dot: I meant on the phone.

A voice: No need

(A white aura appears in front of Dot and Little tiger)

(Kimi appears with curly hair, wearing a yellow dress with a pink jacket with rubies, and blue heels)

Little tiger: You are so cute!

Kimi (curtis): Thank you 

Dot: Excuse me, do you have a tail?

Kimi: Yes, I'm a mutant.

Dot (eyes widened): Oh, you're that girl from the circus.

Kimi: Yup

Dot (looking at Little tiger): She's your new sister, that is so awesome.

(Kimi smiles)

Dot: Can I see your powers outside?

Little tiger: Kimi, can you teleport us out of here?

(Kimi nodded)

(Kimi snap her finger and they disappear)

(Episode ends)

Auron was quite a vivid city, with citizens walking about and colorful mansions as far as the eye could see. Ashley and her accomplices had appeared in the center of the city.
    "Welcome to the city of Auron," the Spirit of Determination said. "This lovely city is the capital of Gemstone Island and is home to Charlie the magnificent."
    Ashley perked up at the mention of that name. "Charlie lives here?" she asked.
    "Precisely. Do you know her?"
    "Of course I do! She's...my best friend."
    "Well, before we pay her a visit, let's take your friend here to the hospital."
    The group went to the nearest hospital and approached the front desk, where an elegantly dressed woman was sitting.
    "How may I help you?" she asked. She spotted Curtis, who appeared to be on the brink of death. "Dr. Angus, come quick!"
    A doctor rushed into the room. He immediately took notice of Curtis and snatched him from Tod. Curtis was taken to a different room.

"You have yet to tell us your name," Ashley said to the spirit while sitting in the waiting room.
    "My name is Theo," said the spirit. "I am one of the eight Mavericks, a special group of people dedicated to protecting this island—that is, until those Glounces turned us into spirits."
    "Are you saying they you were not a spirit to begin with?" Cindy asked.
    "That is correct."
    "What are Glounces, anyway?" Ashley asked.
    "A species of idols that watch over the island while we Mavericks are elsewhere."
    Dr. Angus entered the room. "I have some good news and some bad news," he said. "Which would you like to hear first?"
    "What's the...bad news?" Andrew gulped.
    "The bad news is that your friend flat-lined."
    "This cannot be?" Ubaid wailed.
    "Well, what's the good news?" Tod asked.
    "We managed to save his life," Dr. Angus replied in a toothy grin.
    "That's a relief," Ubaid sighed.
    "May we speak to him?" Tod asked.
    "Of course," Dr. Angus said. "Right this way."
    The doctor led everyone to the room in which Curtis was lying in. Dr. Angus then walked away.
    "Feeling any better?" Nathaniel asked his boss.
    "Much better," Curtis said in response. "Thank you for being considerate for once."
    "This is no time for arguing," a feminine voice said from the doorway.
    Everyone turned to see a slim girl, most likely around the age of fifteen or sixteen, wearing an ancient robe. Ashley was rather shocked by the figure's appearance, being as the girl was now see-through.
    "Charlie!" she exclaimed. "You're really here! I—I...missed you."
    "I missed you too," Charlie said, smiling. "When I heard that one of you was seriously injured, I came as quickly as I could."
    "So you're Charlie," said Cindy, absolutely awed. "It is a pleasure to meet you, even if you are...you know."
    "You mean a spirit? That is...a rather long story. I may explain later." Charlie suddenly noticed that Theo was in the room. "Theo! How have things been lately?"
    "Leave me alone, craven," Theo grumbled.
    "Please, turning you into a spirit may have been my idea, but it was for the greater good."
    "Greater good? Those Glounces only did so for the fear that I—we—would be assassinated!"
    Charlie turned her attention to everyone else. "Let's all go to my place. I want you to receive as much intel as possible about The Dark Fate."
    "Can I join you?" Curtis begged.
    "Of course—once you're fully healed, that is."

Inside Charlie's home, which was amazingly a mansion, everyone sat on sofas in a rather spacious living room.
    "Do you have the Summoner with you, Nathaniel?" asked Charlie.
    "How do you know about that invention?" Nathaniel asked.
    "Just answer the question."
    "Well, um—as a matter of fact, I do have it." Nathaniel pulled a small, red button out of his pocket and pressed it. The Summoner instantly appeared in his hands.
    "Could you please bring all of Curtis' employees?" 
    Ashley wondered where exactly Curtis and his employees worked, but that did not matter at the moment. All she could really think about was the fact that she could see her best friend again, even if she was nothing more than a spirit.
    Nathaniel did as he was told. He pressed a button on the small contraption, causing Curtis' employees to appear in the room.
    "Where are we?" David asked as he looked around.
    Charlie cleated her throat to get everyone's attention. "Who are you?" Terrence asked.
    "I am Charlie the Magnificent," Charlie replied. "I have watched over you since you first arrived on the island."
    "Why have you done so?" Peter asked.
    "Because you have helped Ashley, who is part of a prophecy known as The Dark Fate." Charlie pulled a scroll out of her robe and read its contents. "According to the prophecy scrolls, Cindy, Curtis, Tod, Andrew, and Ubaid are involved as well. I would say who else is part of it, but I think I will let you figure that out for yourselves. I may tell you more about The Dark Fate later. For now, go and explore the city. Surely you'll discover many wondrous things!"

That night, Ashley, Cindy, and Theo were taking a stroll around the city, taking notice of the many diverse people that lived there.
    "We should go to a restaurant," Cindy suggested. "I'm famished. What about you two?"
    "I do not have to eat while in this state," Theo said.
    "As for me, I'm starving," Ashley said. "Where is the nearest restaurant?"
    "It is on the other side of the city. Allow me to lead you there."
    The trio later reached a restaurant known as Eternal Blossom. The name was white peculiar to Ashley and seemed like an illusion. She had almost forgotten that she was in a world where nothing seemed real.
    David, Ron, Peter, Mark, and Jack happened to be in the restaurant. They were sitting around a large table, with five plates of food sitting atop it.
    "You came just in time," David said to Cindy and Ashley, barely even taking notice of Theo. "We just ordered some food for you."
    "Oh, you didn't have to do that," Cindy said.
    "What do you mean? We may be enemies, but it appears like we'll have to work together until this whole debacle is out of the way. Now sit down and eat."
    Jack's cell phone began to ring. He grabbed it out of his pocket and answered it, holding it up to his ear.
    "Hello, Tod," he said. "What's that? Curtis is out of the hospital? That's wonderful! And he's—oh dear. We will be there shortly." Jack ended the fall and slid the phone back into his jeans pocket. "Tod wants us to meet him on 31st Street, wherever that is. Seems like Curtis is causing trouble."
    "Like always," Ron remarked.
    "Do you know where 31st Street is, Theo?" asked Ashley.
    "I sure do," Theo replied. "After you all are finished eating, I will take you there."
    The group later went to 31st Street, where they saw Tod standing on the sidewalk with his mouth agape.
    "What's wrong?" Ashley asked.
    Tod pointed star Curtis, who was on top of a limo while holding a machine gun. "Get down from there!" Tod ordered.
    "Make me!" Curtis retorted.
    Tod used his sceptre to set the limousine on fire. Curtis quickly jumped off and ran to the sidewalk, glaring at Tod.

Later that night, everyone met inside the mansion and sat in the living room once more. "I am glad that you are all here," Charlie began. "Fortunately, there are enough rooms in my home for you to stay in until your journey is complete."
    "It is a pleasure to be staying here," Andrew said, "but I have a small question. When we crash-landed on the island, how is it that we survived?"
    "The prophecy prevents any of you from dying until it has been fulfilled. Now it's time for you all to rest. Tomorrow will hopefully be a day of rest and relaxation."
    Everyone went upstairs to their respective rooms, almost immediately falling asleep.
