I was laying on my bed while reading the new chapter of a novel that I followed since two years ago.

It was a story about a destroyed world full of undeads walking, there and here.

A sudden sleepiness attack me and I fell asleep.

And when I woke up, I was in a classroom full of students reviewing their textbooks.

I'm one of those students sitting in their specific sit, reading their textbooks.

Then one day, I know that this is fucked up.

Xue Jing only wanted to sell to someone that gave him good vibes. Good vibes were hard to define, but somehow, he felt that he wouldn't be upset if he sold his flat to Fang Zhao and the apartment was completely renovated.
Just as Fang Zhao put it, different arrangers would handle the same song differently. Different styles would come out. Everyone was equally entitled to leave their mark. Any buyer was simply a temporary custodian of the property.

"Please continue," Fang Zhao said.
"As you know, I'm not teaching these days, focusing instead on editing and writing textbooks." Xue Jing looked at Fang Zhao. "I'm working on a book about symphonic works. I'd like to use your songs as an example."
Xue Jing was writing a textbook that analyzed symphonies and served as a how-to primer. Symphonies were an offbeat genre. Music students tended to avoid the specialty. Even though symphonies enjoyed greater prestige within the industry, they weren't too popular.
Xue Jing wasn't only concerned with turning a profit. The elders in the industry didn't bother with symphonies, but the genre had to be preserved. Xue Jing didn't want to cut and paste like previous authors. He wanted to present contemporary examples. This would require Fang Zhao to discuss his creative vision, his sources of inspiration, and some memorable moments from the creative process. In short, Xue Jing wanted Fang Zhao to pass on his knowledge and expose more students to the genre of symphonies. It would be the equivalent of a master class in written form. Of course, it was up to Fang Zhao to decide how much to reveal.
"As you know, this isn't a hit single. There won't be much money in it." Xue Jing was frank.
Fang Zhao's emergence gave Xue Jing hope. The "100-Year Period of Destruction" series probably made for the most memorable symphonic pop songs in the past century. More importantly, the series was not condescending. It took the accessible form of pop music and reached a broad audience.
Many young composers were reluctant to share their creative insight, so Xue Jing thought Fang Zhao would take his time to consider the request. Little did he expect Fang Zhao to agree immediately.
"No problem."

Xue Jing was delighted. "Terrific. Terrific. I'll add your name to the list of consulting editors."

"Fang Zhao, someone from Leizhou wants to use the third movement in a movie soundtrack. They don't want to buy the song outright—just license it for 30 days." In other words, there would be a moratorium on the song's release in other formats for 30 days after the film began screening in theaters.
Orders like this from another continent were rare and often translated into new opportunities.
"We haven't discussed the price yet. Chairman Duan wants to get your OK first," Zhu Zhen said.
"To use on a soundtrack? It's a production company from Leizhou?"
"Yes. The deal will help promote the song, but the production company doesn't have a great reputation."

After being briefed by Zhu Zhen, Fang Zhao thought for about two seconds. "I'd like to get a sense of the plot of the film and where exactly the song will be placed."
"I'm not entirely clear on either. Let me get back to you."
Half an hour later, Zhu Zhen sent Fang Zhao an encrypted file that outlined the plot and where the third movement would be placed.
The document also listed the names of the production company and key investors as well as the main actors.

What wass funny was that, despite their corny story lines and shitty acting, films like this did OK at the box office. People usually bitched as they watched these movies online. They knew they were crap but they couldn't resist watching. Maybe it was a form of venting.
Fang Zhao spent an afternoon watching previous releases backed by the same production company and investors. He had his answer by sundown.
"I'll sign off on this. My only request is that the third movement only be used for the scene specified. There is no leeway on this. It can only be played then."

Being in charge of first graders on her third year as a teacher proved to be a challenge for Hee Yeon Kim, but for reasons she could only describe as &quot;complicated,&quot; she had been forced into this difficult task. To say that her experience was lacking was a gross understatement, and it was near impossible for her to manage the ruckus that the first graders were creating. As such, it became somewhat of a routine for the teachers of adjacent classrooms to intervene and suppress(?)* the children of Class 1-3. Perhaps it was thanks to that, or perhaps the children had simply grown accustomed to school after a month, but they had reached the point where they would calm down just enough for class to start. Hee Yeon had to settle for that. Nonetheless, as soon as breaktime started, the children would resume their chaotic commotion, filling the halls with their voices as Hee Yeon sat next to the window, her head in her hands in an attempt to withstand it all.

'If only they had gym class all morning long…'

But if that were the case, then she would have to be on guard, looking out for potential injuries, which would then cause even more of a psychological strain on her. In her current state of mind, however, she wished for nothing more than to escape from all the noise. When she looked up towards the classroom again, she realized that she had to say something.
&quot;Jihoon, you can't stand on the desk. You'll get hurt!&quot; She warned in her strictest tone. &quot;Heejin, don't get so close to the window! Get down from there! There, in the back! Stop running! What if you fall over?!&quot;
Even in the midst of all the chaos, she couldn't help but notice one of her students sitting quietly, in the middle of the row next to the windows. He had become the talk of the school due to his good looks, and he was the one exception in this classroom of constant cacophony. The boy was always reading. He mainly read textbooks, but sometimes would bring in children's tales from somewhere and read those. During class he would always look at her with bright eyes, listening so intently to what she said that she felt almost awkward under the pressure, but it was thanks to him that she felt proud and satisfied to be a teacher. After all, there wasn't a teacher alive who disliked diligent students.

The boy paid no mind to his teacher's rather open observation of him and just kept on reading. He was quite happy with his current lifestyle. The classes taught him new things every day, satisfying his intellectual curiosity, and every day, the knowledge he gained from his textbooks surprised him. Reading and reaching an understanding of the material in the textbooks, regardless of the curriculum, filled the boy with an almost euphoric kind of joy. This was especially true for afterschool math class, which made him feel jittery. He derived an immense sort of satisfaction with every problem he solved correctly, and as his knowledge increased, he almost felt as if he could organize his thoughts concerning his confusing circumstances.

Just as the boy was about to immerse himself in the joy of studying, someone tapped his shoulders. When he turned around, he saw that it was Jihoon. Though only a month had passed since the start of the new semester, Jihoon already stood out from the rest of the class. To put it nicely, he was a very lively child, but in reality, he was closer to a menace. He could not bring himself to sit quietly during lessons, sprinting out of the classroom to go to the restroom (and if the teacher chased after him, he would always run away with a huge smile on his face, as if he was enjoying a game of tag), and during break time, he would jump from desk to desk, like an action maniac who delighted in the thrill and excitement of dangerous activities. He was also very creative, always coming up with new ways to make the girl who sat next to him cry. All this caused the other kids to practically line up to join Jihoon in his &quot;games,&quot; and he had become infamous within the parents' SNS chatrooms. However, being the only son of a prominent family, no one could really touch him, only increasing the frustration of the victims'(?) parents and homeroom teacher.
This same Jihoon had just approached the boy, apparently nominating(?) him as the next victim, but the boy simply looked at him wide-eyed as if he didn't know what was happening. Jihoon had his back to the group of students who followed him and looked down at him. &quot;They say you look like a plaster cast,&quot; he declared arrogantly. What did that even mean? &quot;My mom saw my sister's drawing and she said it looked like you. That's what a plaster cast is. You're plaster.&quot;

The boy went blank at Jihoon's words, confused at the utter lack of context.

Jihoon was actually referring to a bit of a hot topic among parents for a brief period of time. During the entrance ceremony, the parents had discussed the boy's outstanding looks, and someone had mentioned that he looked &quot;statuesque.&quot; Following this comment, the parents of a student preparing for art school had brought up &quot;Julian,&quot; one of the plaster cast busts used as a drawing model. Of course, parents quickly fell into a typical SNS conversation, adding that their own children were just as pretty, or whose children had better looks, but it appeared that their talks of plaster casts had reached Jihoon's ears. However, being completely unaware of this whole situation, the boy sat there dumbfounded.

However, the boy paid no mind to it, partly because he wasn't sure whether &quot;plaster face&quot; had enough of a negative connotation to feel upset over it, and partly because he thought it was better than what they had called him back at the peasant town. They had taken to calling him &quot;scrofa**&quot; due to the fact that he scavenged in the forest all day, or just &quot;boar.&quot; Rather than being compared to a pig, covered in mud and oinking all around the place, he preferred being compared to plaster.

With the approach of summer, the weather had reached the point where the impatient few had already begun to wear short sleeves outside. Volunteer workers still visited the institute every so often, now that the tough weeds sprouting through the lawn of the yard had grown enough to injure to the children. Though they were promptly eradicated by the volunteers, the teachers still had to warn the children to not go into the grass.

&quot;We'll be off!&quot;

The elementary schoolers shouted out as they got off the institute's van, cheerfully waving to the teacher sitting in the driver's seat. Among the children walking to the gates of the elementary school were the two first graders, Myeong-su and the boy, one third grader, one fifth grader, and two sixth graders. The sixth graders were very composed within and without the boundaries of the institute, and the third and fifth graders followed their every step. True to his status as a carefree, energetic first grader, however, Myeong-su ran into the school grounds, dragging the boy by the hand. The older children did nothing to stop them. Rather, they looked wholly uninterested, their steps seemingly much heavier than those of other students. But Myeong-su was too excited to pay attention to such things, and he just kept on running with the boy, who ran along like a leashed puppy. Though it looked like the boy was forcing himself to go along with Myeong-su, he was actually having just as much fun. He had recently discovered the existence of the school library and was ecstatic at the thought of feasting upon the mighty(?) collections of books within. The fact that all the children from the institute took the van to get to school meant that the boy always arrived before his classmates. Once in the classroom, he left his bag at his seat and headed straight to the library.

&quot;You're first again.&quot; The librarian had just started to open the library, and the boy greeted her, a gleeful smile on his face. &quot;You can go right ahead.&quot;

Having been granted permission, the boy bowed once again to the librarian, who was making her way towards her desk, and ran into the library. The musty scent of the books that had collected overnight filled his nose, and it almost felt sweet to him. He chose three books to read for that day, all relatively thin. His knowledge and comprehension were still not advanced enough for him tackle thicker books, causing him to always reach for the thinner books, meant for the younger students, without caring for their content. Such books mainly came out in series, so he had made it a habit to just go through the books series by series. Though the boy might have been unaware, children's books were not necessarily limited to just biographies and fairy tales, but also included illustrated classical literature and economics, which were enough to satisfy the boy's thirst for knowledge. Thanks to this, he had been able to catch up on his past seven years of no education and quickly learned about the systems of this world, as well as the social environment he was in.

He was also able to fully concentrate on books because they provided an escape from all the sadness and despair that came from being thrown into a completely new society and lifestyle. Or rather, he had no choice but to fully concentrate on books. His memories of the past still haunted him, no matter how much time passed.

Once the teachers' morning meeting ended, Hee Yeon went back into her classroom. Her students, who once seemed like water in hot oil, now felt like powder filling up a lidless blender. Only Jihoon, apparently still in hot oil rather than the blender, spoke loudly to his friend, while the rest of the students remained in their seats and murmured to each other. The children had no way of knowing that their collective murmurs let to a very loud ruckus. Only one student, called 'plaster face' by the other kids even though he looked more like a 'Julian,' paid no mind to the noise and silently read his book. After almost a full semester of knowing him, Hee Yeon thought that he was possibly in the school's top ranks when it came to concentration and attitude towards learning, and though he hadn't stood out that much at the beginning of the semester, he had started to show great improvement in writing composition and math. When the teacher in charge of the afterschool classes spoke to her about the boy, complimenting him greatly in his skills, Hee Yeon's expectations of him had grown even more. Looking at him now, reading his book, it was hard to imagine that he was from an institute.

Just then, the bell rang out, signaling the start of classes.
&quot;Well then!&quot; Announced Hee Yeon. &quot;We'll begin class. Do you know what's for first period?&quot;
&quot;Family learning!&quot;

Qiao Nan stares at the well-built man in front of her. He has firm abs and cold, chilling eyes. She swallows the lump in her throat as she says her greetings, "Good Morning, Chief!"

"Wait, someone used an illusion?"
Some of the apprentices grew alarmed, while the other wizards sneered at them.
"The magic array isn't triggered, so the illusion is not harmful. No need to get all worked up."
When the piece of cloth was fully removed, the ripples became a fully functional illusion which covered the entire auction hall up together with music, thus surprising everyone.
We could "see" music? People wondered.
We could use a music box like this?? Prome, as well as the other alchemists, wondered.
The gentle music played by the box and the Tranquility Rune that was placed on it masterfully amplified each other.
Lydia quickly lost herself in the music. She enjoyed different styles of music. This gentle piece might not be the best one she heard of yet, but it was beautiful enough.
When enjoying herself in the soothing clouds, Lydia was getting convinced to make her first purchase of the night.
Inside another chamber, Flora was also quite shocked at the item. However, compared to the music, she was more interested in the illusion.
Flora was not an illusionist. But as Sunders' student, she knew the correct way to examine illusions. She already found out that the music box was based on a Melodious Illusion.
Whoever deployed the illusion had to possess a solid knowledge about basic illusions as well as expertise in micro illusions.
The important factor was that the creator of the music box never used anything too complicated. He combined a simple cantrip with music and enchantment and produced something worth noting down in the textbooks of Acoustic Illusion.
It was not all about praises though. The clouds and sky were perfectly made, but Flora easily noticed flaws when looking down.
There were vast grassland and stretching mountains down below. They stood too high in the air to observe the scenery clearly, and this was where the illusion was wrong.
Flora was sure that the creator of the illusion never spent much time flying in the air, or he would not have made such an obvious mistake when determining people's range of visibility.
However, only someone who knew illusions well enough could notice the mistakes. Flora concluded that the music box was a finely-made and creative alchemy piece of art.
Those who loved it would love it very much, while the remaining people would not leave any harsh comment about it. Both Flora and Lydia reached the same conclusion.
On the second floor, Prome was also immersed in the cloud illusions and enjoyed the soothing melodies.
"A work of genius!" Prome gave Angor an approving look. He had willingly admitted that the music box was an outstanding creation when he himself would never be able to find such an inspiration.
Dave enjoyed the illusion while feeling a bit down. He regretted not joining Angor. If only he knew that Angor was making something so beautiful…
Almost everyone in the hall presented their positive comments for the music box.
Twilight glanced at Chamber 1 and grinned. She knew well that the illusion had not shown its full potential.
As people all believed that the music would end like this, the illusion shifted.
Dark clouds suddenly came into view, blocking sunlight.
Snakes of lightning danced wildly inside the clouds.
"Ohh! Something's coming!" Someone mumbled.
The sudden change raised everyone's curiosity again, including Lydia and Flora.
Another shadowy figure in a Gold VIP chamber secretly raised his eyebrow.
As the music went on, people found themselves dive into the thunderclouds head-first.
Several string instruments worked together to announce the end of the thunderclouds and white mist and clouds showed up once again. However, there seemed to be a black shadow hidden behind.
"What's that?" People pointed to the shadow.
With several lively beats, the mist dissipated towards the sides, presenting a floating island to everyone.
"So that's what the name meant. There's really an island in the sky!"
"What's so special about a floating island? Hey, wait… look!"
That was more than a floating island. It was an island with stories hidden behind every trace and detail, urging people to go there and read.
Here, the time had stopped ticking.
"It's… it's love." Someone wept. "When my lover left me ten years ago, I felt so isolated. I sensed the same thing when looking at the deserted island… It reminds me of the love lost in time."
"Hey, look at that tattered building. Who built it? Hey, wait… why did I want to know?"
"Tales… creations! I feel like writing a storybook now!"
Everyone felt their minds pulsing with curiosity when looking at the island sitting still in the sky.
Beside their ears, the gentle music whispered the history of the island at the end of clouds.
Lydia got a strange feeling. The island also reminded her of something decades ago, something she locked deep inside her memory.
She released a deep breath. "Land on the Sky, right? I'm buying it."
In another chamber, Flora stared at the scenery with widened eyes, and for a completely different reason.
Frozen time? This is exactly what it looked like in the Nightmare Realm! But how did a simple illusion carry an element of the Nightmare Realm?
Also, Flora was shocked to find out that she was getting affected by the illusion as well. Her emotion was still calm but looking at anything on the island would cause her mind to pulse with unknown realization.
Something she decided to forget long ago. The days before she was adopted by Sunders. The memories from the miserable days easily came flowing back into her mind.
Strangely, she did not feel pain when thinking about those memories. The gentle rhythm and the still beautiful island somehow mended the scars in her memory.
"Who created such a thing?" The shadowy figure in another Gold VIP chamber wondered. "Music, enchantment alchemy, Melodious Illusion, Nightmare Realm. The story of Augustin and Margaret… and those clouds. Is that the scene on cloud whale?" He pointed out the elements in the illusion in a low and hoarse voice.
The figure could not understand all of the elements. However, from what he could see, the vivid image of his adorable little student quickly popped up inside his mind.
"Oh… I never thought I'd remember those stories from centuries ago ever again. Is that you, Angor?"
He moved his head around, briefly exposing a gentlemanly face.

Angor was oblivious of what was going on in the hall. By using the effect brought by Tranquility Rune, he was now stroking Toby's feathers to calm the bird.
Thanks to the soothing music and the tranquility aura, Toby finally quieted down.
"Thank goodness I used a Tranquility Rune on it, or I don't know if I can control Toby," Angor sighed. He always trusted Toby and allowed the bird to wander outside in a carefree way. He was afraid that the bird might have a hard time getting through such a heavy blow.
When something like this happened, as his guardian, Angor needed to protect Toby.
The music was ending. The misty island was hidden behind approaching clouds, and Angor could sense that Toby completely cooled his tiny head.
Angor tried to tease the bird again and was glad to see Toby responding to his attempts, though somewhat unwillingly. 
The illusion was no more, yet all the people in the hall did not make a sound. It seemed they were still thinking about the great music and beautiful sight which had traveled far from their minds.
"Angor, I don't know what to say," said Dave as he gave Angor a sad look. "Why am I getting the feeling that you always learn stuff a hundred times faster? You can do something in a day when it'd take me years! I mean, you're Angor, right? Who are you and what have you done to him?"
Angor facepalmed. "Well, maybe you're talking about 'yesterday's me'."
"I see… So, an Angor that I don't know about created such an amazing artifact," Dave comforted himself.
Prome also spoke to Angor with mixed emotions, "I know what we should discuss later…"
Angor thought about their agreement yesterday and nodded.
Twilight waited for everyone to collect their senses.
"As you all see, this is 'Land on the Sky'."

Our places on this earth are divided by oceans setting us apart from one continent to another. Several countries speaking several languages to understand each other. People with several cultures and beliefs. Different personalities and opinions.

In this chaotic world, we live in called real life we search for a place to escape from that reality. To be accepted as who or what we are. We have found that in the music we sing. In the books, we read. In the movies we watch. In the places, we travel and visit. Everywhere in which we get inspiration to face reality head-on.

We write stories or poems to inspire others, reading the words we weave from our own world. For some of us, it is simply an escape from reality into a world in which we can use our imaginations to dream make-believe or to live our secret fantasies or just plain be creative.

Getting on the web gives us more ways to share and get connected to other people with the same kind of thinking from across the ocean. Some of the people we meet along the way give us reasons to smile again. It's where we become friends, get to know them well, and get so close that we even trust them enough to share our own greatest fears.

I was a living a kind of living death when I found solace here on Stories Space. A place to write, camouflaging my hatred and sadness from myself when I was reading all the poetry and fictional fantasies created by the writers. I found another escape from reality and indulged in reading.

My feelings from my own troubles in life had made me feel so empty that only through laughter and reading could I be free and somewhat whole again.

I made my own heaven in purgatory.

A friend told me to write down all of my pains and troubles in poems or stories. Another friend of mine told me to be fierce in my poetry writing. I found friends who helped me give my own life a reason to continue living again through writing.

Writing makes me calm every time my mind gets into a panic mode. The pains and the fears of the unknown are my muses for writing.

When I met someone who understood me and made me feel needed and loved my poetry changed its tune. It made me think of happy thoughts. I got inspired by the things I saw and the happy memories of my childhood that I could write about.

Painful memories and realities were always there and so I wrote about them from time to time.

When that someone left me I continued writing. The same inner muse I had gained I used to keep on writing.

Then, out of nowhere, I got to know you. I became happy again. This time I got even more inspired and more creative, experimenting with my writings.

I set aside my shyness and reservations to write creatively. I still can't overcome some of my shyness and reservation but I am blooming, inspired by you.

You became my muse.

The man in the moon. The stars in my darkest hours. When at night I can't sleep thinking of you calms me to sleep.

The sunshine after the heavy storm. Where all the dead trees come to life again. That keeps me warm when everything gets chilly.

My own little heaven in my real life purgatory.

As soon as Michael closed his eyes, the myriad tiny noises that pervade the background of day-to-day life disappeared, to be replaced by the steady sound of rainfall and occasional rumbling of thunder that had become so familiar. In a way, the abrupt shift reminded him of changing tracks on an audio disc. Initially the sensation was quite jarring, but the process was becoming familiar and the shift was now associating itself with a freedom from constraints and a dedicated focus time. 

Michael quickly got off the replica of his bed and 'stretched' his body, even though he couldn't feel it. Some day he'd figure out what he needed to do to upgrade this space to a place where he could feel his body! Then he could do other things, like train. For now, though, he had plenty of things to read.

"Ok, System - let's retrieve all of the Mathematics textbooks I scanned."

<<Retrieving.>>

Suddenly a giant stack of books appeared on the replica of Michael's reading desk. Combined with the height of the desk, it almost reached to the ceiling! Michael stared at the tower of knowledge, daunted. 

"I think I might have got a bit overboard with the scanning..."

He started to think about other potential approaches. After several minutes of contemplation, he tentatively asked the System a question.

"Since all of these books are essentially virtual anyway, and there must be some duplicate information in there... can we compile these down? Like, Merge them all into one book?"

<<Subject's suggestion is possible. It will require the expenditure of some mental energy on the part of the Subject in order to boost the processing.>>

"Mental Energy?"

<<Correct. Mental Energy is a System-specific approximation of the overall available resources of the Subject when applied to problems of the primarily mental variety. "Another Stat I haven't heard about? Are there a lot of those?"

"What's my current Mental Energy?"

"Nevermind. I should try to figure out the underlying aspects of my other stats at some point. For now, I guess... how much of my Mental Energy will compiling the Mathematics book take up?"

"Ninety Percent? That can't be healthy, right?"

<<At 90% expenditure, Subject will experience severe lethargy, nutrition deficiency, and minor physical trauma. With proper nutrition and rest, Subject will recover in approximately 24 hours.>>

"This sounds like... a terrible idea."

<<Subject asked if it was possible, not if System would recommend it.>>

"Well, then, maybe we should put that on hold for the time being. Shoot. Although there's plenty of time til the competition, so maybe holding off for a bit wouldn't hurt. System, are there any ways for me to improve my Mental Energy, or make it cost less? Your statement seemed to imply that one of the reasons it would cost so much is because of my current capabilities?"

"New modules? Like what?"

"As if I wasn't enough of a nerd already... so, learn an instrument, learn more languages, and play chess? Now that you put it that way, if I could do all that, I'd be a pretty classy individual..."

Michael sat down on the edge of his bed as he contemplated his options. Maybe it was due to his rather tame upbringing, but the topic of drugs just seemed... too risky. Eventually, he gritted his teeth and decided to go with it. What was a few more missions, after all?

"Ok, System. Can you generate some missions for me for these subjects? Just... don't make them too hard, alright? I need to be able to clear them before the competition."

"You're enjoying this, aren't you?"

Michael glumly reviewed the presented information. While he had asked for it, and the System had been quite generous in the rewards, as not only would completing these missions benefit him but he'd also end up with an enhanced Lucid Space and a Mental Enhancement Module, he still felt like he was a gambler throwing good money after bad. He was already concerned about not having enough time, and now he had four more missions to complete!

Still, each of them could be taken one step at a time once he figured out what he would need to do to complete them, and a little more variety would probably be helpful. It was just becoming more and more important that he set himself up a good schedule. He decided that the following evening would be another take-stock session, and he would spend some time coming up with a plan to tackle each of his outstanding missions, as well as constructing a formal routine with the System's help.

And he reminded himself once again that after he completed all of these, he'd be a pretty impressive individual! 

"Maybe I could even catch the eye of a pretty girl or two," he mused. However, when a few of the women he'd encountered in the past week or two popped into his mind, he quickly blushed and cleared his mind. No time for that when there are missions to accomplish!

With that decided, he opted to put the textbooks away for now and go back to his philosophy reading. That would give him an opportunity to calm down and focus on something else. He had the system generate the book again and he lay down on his stomach on the fake bed with the book open in front of him while the sounds of the storm from the recesses of his memories rumbled away outside.

It's the turn of the 21st century in a world not unlike our own. 14 year-old Michael wakes up on the first day of high school with a nosebleed, a splitting headache, and the voice of someone claiming to be him from a number of years in the future in his head!

"We could have been, and we need to be, better... so, congratulations, I'm sorry, and good luck!"

Stuck with a somewhat overbearing voice in his head that seems hell-bent on ruining his life, Michael will have to survive such ordeals as... doing well in school, eating right, exercising and... learning demonic contract law? Stay tuned to find out!

Local development would greatly affect the medical field. For instance, just look at the surgical textbooks. For the first five editions, the editors were mostly military doctors. Starting from the sixth edition and onwards, doctors from Beijing and Shanghai became more common as the editors. The more recent the edition, the more doctors from Beijing and Shanghai there would be. The editors of such surgical textbooks could be called some of the best Chinese doctors in their respective fields. Since the best doctors were concentrated so densely in only two cities, it wasn't strange at all for patients to also gather together in only those two cities. This caused all sorts of difficulties for everyone. It became more difficult to get treated, and it also became harder to work as a doctor! Such problems would then explode on the doctors working on the frontlines to treat everyone!
Zhang Fan was stunned even further when he actually looked at the endocrinology textbook that Director Dilibaer had given to him. This textbook was written purely in English, with not a single word in Chinese! There were two countries that were the best in the world at endocrinology: America and Germany, with America being slightly better. It would be far too difficult to study this field. Endocrinology was sort of like the combination of various major modern fields. It would be impossible to fully understand this textbook within one week without ridiculous grinding. There was also a common trait of all medical textbooks: most vocabulary would be ridiculously long, or use ridiculously simple abbreviations. The abbreviations were so simple that even Google would have trouble finding them!
What could Zhang Fan do? He would have to grind to the point of exhaustion. Zhang Fan mentioned this to Shao Hua as he would be eating something right after work every day and then returning to his apartment to grind and study, since there wasn't much time left. However, Shao Hua didn't agree, because she was worried that Zhang Fan would ruin his body. She insisted that Zhang Fan return to her home for a proper dinner every night.
In order to properly understand this endocrinology textbook, you would first have to write an index of notes. There were two main types of internal secretion in endocrinology. The first type was internal secretion that was independent from other organs, such as the pineal gland, pituitary gland, thyroid gland, and so on. The other type was internal secretion as part of an organ, such as the pancreatic islets, the ovaries or testes' sex hormone cells, and so on.
There would then be further categorization based on the type of hormone. Was the hormone a protein or a combination of amino acids and peptide bonds? These hormones all had their own target organs. The hormones would have different effects after combining with the target organ.
Just the categorization would be quite complex, from function to structure to effect. This would all be just the beginning of the basics. Zhang Fan would then have to translate all these terms from Chinese into English. Memorizing all of this vocabulary in English would only be the first step.
If Director Dilibaer had instead given him an entry-level textbook, Zhang Fan wouldn't have needed to categorize things in so much detail. Entry-level medical textbooks were a bit simpler, after all. It wouldn't have been as difficult for him to finish preparing it in a week. However, Director Dilibaer had given him the most recent publication!
Zhang Fan really became slightly arrogant after everything went so successfully for him during the past two years! This counted as a bucket of cold water that was suddenly poured on him, helping to completely wake him up!
Since Shao Hua also needed to study for her accounting exam, the two of them simply studied together in Zhang Fan's apartment. Each had their own room with a light. There was only the sound of flipping through pages and writing notes. At 11 p.m., Zhang Fan drove Shao Hua home and kissed her before returning to his apartment to continue the grinding.
First, he needed to understand the English text. There were far, far too many words that Zhang Fan didn't know. He could only use the dictionary and search online. It took him three full days before he finally finished reading the entire medical textbook. Thankfully, this textbook wasn't actually that thick. Otherwise, Zhang Fan truly would have died. Studying was somewhat similar to rushing into a war. One would need courage as well as endurance, being able to adamantly persist and march forward.
After completing the translation, Zhang Fan now needed to fully understand the contents of the textbook. In order to understand the theses in this endocrinology textbook, he would have to go through a large number of other texts as well. Anyone who was capable of writing a thesis for the most recent endocrinology textbook would be someone highly accomplished in the field already. In order to understand what they wrote, Zhang Fan needed to first understand the base logic, functions, and composition before thinking about understanding it all!
Once again, Zhang Fan studied his basics, with chemistry, organic chemistry, histology and embryology, biochemistry, immunology, and so on. Having a goal in studying these texts was indeed quite different. Zhang Fan once again learned many things after he finished studying these basics again.
It was now five a.m., so Zhang Fan's brain was going numb. He absolutely had to sleep as he still needed to go to work soon. He entered a deep sleep less than 20 seconds after he hit the bed. Even though Zhang Fan normally would always get up at six a.m., this time he was so tired that he didn't get up until 7:40 a.m., when he finally washed his face and ate some breakfast that Shao Hua's mother had prepared for him before going to work.
The most common chronic illness in endocrinology was diabetes. In China, some minor government officials had been the first to get this type of chronic disease as they had been some of the first to benefit from China's improvements.
China's economy had improved. Such minor government officials had eaten and drunk as they pleased for just a few years, causing problems for their bodies. By the time that they started paying attention to their health, ordinary commoners had just started learning about what diabetes was. Many people who newly became rich would often spend a lot of money on food. Eating as much meat as they pleased together with a diet high in sugar and fat caused China to become the country with the most diabetics already after just a few years.
How scary was diabetes? International medical organizations ranked it as the #3 most major non-infectious chronic disease, ranked only after cardiovascular disease and tumors.
Zhang Fan's teaching doctor was a young woman who just passed 30 years old not long ago. Her name was Ren Lina. She was beautiful and had a matching beautiful aura and incredibly sweet voice. A government leader had noticed her back when she joined the endocrinology department. She then became that government leader's daughter-in-law.
"Doctor Zhang, we typically deal with all of the patients' medical advice in the morning and write the medical reports in the afternoon. We also typically do all patient discharging together. There's nothing else that's special or needs to be mentioned."
"Alright, Doctor Ren, I understand," Zhang Fan said as he nodded.
There were two types of diabetes patients. Type 1 diabetes patients were relatively rare. Most patients would have type 2 diabetes. Diabetes was a result of complex inherited factors as well as environmental factors. The scary part of diabetes was that it would disturb the metabolism and cause other organs to become unwell. Diabetics would often have problems with their kidneys, cardiovascular system, eyes, as well as often getting infections.
Currently, the goal of treating diabetes was to maintain a state of balance and to try to prevent other such problems from occurring. For a diabetic who was successfully treated, they might live an ordinary and healthy life for the rest of their entire life. For a diabetic who wasn't successfully treated, or if their condition was serious, all the organs would start having problems. The patient's vision would become unclear, the heart would become weak, the skin wouldn't heal itself from injuries, and so on. It would be quite painful.
The most common symptoms of diabetes were also relatively easy to understand. If you often ate, often drank, and often peed, while your weight was lessening, please immediately go to get checked at a doctor! This could be very important if you eat a lot, drink a lot, and pee a lot without getting any fatter at all!
In the surgical departments, doctors would only be afraid of two types of patients. The first would be patients who had infectious diseases that could be transmitted by blood. The second would be a patient with diabetes. A patient with diabetes meant that any injury wouldn't easily heal and would be especially likely to become infected.
Diabetes was a serious enough problem that it could cause any doctor to collapse. Diabetic foot ulcers and deep tissue damage from infections couldn't be treated with antibiotics. A patient in severe condition could only have a limb get amputated!
Doctor Ren Lina had 20ish patients. Most of them were middle-aged or older. One of her patients was of rather special status because he was a section chief in Chasu City's Bureau of Finance.


One day, Zhang Fan, a poor medical student, receives a medical system from the future. This turns him into a new shining star in the medical field. Along the way, he must face medical corruption, competition, and infighting from other doctors, and even find time for a love life as he strives for the top of the medical field!

After the Orphanage was up and running he got working on the Magical Primary school.

But to his godfather, it was like a feast he immediately began munching the foods. Even Harold didn't think he could eat that many greens even with the starvers potion but thought that it was probably because he hadn't eaten them in so long.

He kept commenting "Is it just me or are salads tastier than 6 years ago." And kept on eating.

After 2 hours he finally seemed to have enough for him now. So after that, Harry took Sirius to his office with the computer. Immediately as they entered the office Harold had an excellent idea.

He sat Sirius down and computer parts and asked him to replicate these in his mindscape. After 45mins he successfully reproduced the computer in his mindscape. Harold then asked Sirius to allow him to enter his entered his own mindscape first and then create a storage device with functionality similar to a USB and then copied his A.I code into the device.

Thus Harold entered the mindscape of Sirius and began to look around. Most of the mindscape looked to be slowly repairing. When he finally found the computer in the mindscape he took out the storage device he brought and connected it to the computer.

The computer turned itself on and series of codes appeared to be flowing when finally the code was done 5 Sirius's shimmered into existence. Then immediately Harold came out and his Godfather was in deep sleep he put it into the code to make his godfather sleep immediately before the A.I's started their 'Spring Cleaning and repairing' of Sirius's mindscape. He also fed Sirius a Language crystal.

He had Jeeves put his Godfather in the Lord's bedroom. After that, he went back to Longbottoms manor for dinner and told them everything that happened and slept for the night.

Next morning when Harold went to Potter Manor he saw his godfather eating a Shawarma in one hand and the book he wrote for his Godfather on magical computing to better understand his A.I and the computer in the other.

After that the next few days Sirius was taking rest whereas Harold was typing up his new books. While talking to Sirius yesterday it came to his attention that there weren't any textbooks in the magical world and the average standard for witches and wizards completely depended on the standard of Hogwarts at their time of the study.

Thus he sat and wrote textbooks for all subjects he thought Hogwarts should have for all years. The subjects were Arithmancy, Astronomy, Care of Magical Creatures, Herbology, Charms, History of Magical world, Offensive and Defensive Magic, Transfiguration, Occulumency, Runes, Potions. He even made the books in color and had wizarding photographs for wands movements, creatures, etc for better understanding and visualization.

He even wrote an introductory book for First generation Witches and Wizards and recommended books to read so as to not offend someone. It even had tips and tricks like getting checked at, Magical Products that are not found in the non-magical world, etc.

Even Sirius took time to review his books as a way to brush up his knowledge and he even commented that his books were a lot easier to understand and had lots of information he would have probably love to have when he was in Hogwarts, he said he even had fun while reading.

Thus Harry found a reputable publishing house with worldwide connections to print and publish his books.

After seeing Sirius read his books with much interest Harold Offered Sirius tutoring over financial management and political maneuvering. Sirius rejected saying that he would like to learn on his own, so Harry sneakily gave him library versions of money management and politics to learn.

By this time Harold was getting bored so he took the idea of tutoring and instead of Sirius he offered it to Neville who happily agreed.

Since Neville had agreed and he was also a natural occlumens he made him repeat the process he had done with Sirius. This time Neville had a bit of a hard time since he had no understanding of runes but he had it done in 6 hours even though he was just copying,

After getting permission to enter the mindscape of Neville, Harry checked over Neville's work and noticed some mistakes after getting them fixed and having one last inspection he connected the data storage device. Just like with Sirius 5 Neville's shimmered into existence and Neville went asleep.

Harold watched as Neville fell asleep and asked one of the Longbottom elves to take him to bed.

After Neville woke up in time for supper he told that his mind was free of a lot of clutter and his thoughts were flowing freely. Thus I told him that I was going to start his primary education from tomorrow.

So after that, he started to teach Neville, with Neville's occlumency, his Heavens library teaching book and Neville's own determination to learn it was easy to teach Neville he was struggling a bit with computing and art, but with Harold teaching they were nothing more than Hiccups.

The longest thing that took to teach was calligraphy, But that was also learned easily, because after seeing Neville's struggle he had charmed a book so that it would show writing only if written correctly, and remove the ink if it is not acceptable and at end of the book it would show the time taken to complete the book. If the time taken each time was not shorter than previous times the amount of work would go up by two.

Thus Harold was able to get Neville Excellent writing in Two months. His record for the book was 4 hrs. Very good in Harolds Opinion, Harolds himself was 2hr 45min. Seeing the success of the book he gave Scrivenshafts the idea that the Book was recommended with the Pen.

So during 3-month tutoring of Neville, Neville was already at high school level at many subjects and he had been parallelly doing the Fit-bed routine and he was already in tip-top shape.

Since he was Physically fit, He taught Neville fencing and ancient sword fighting he took more to sword fighting than fencing but he was very good at both. He was so good in fact sometimes was even giving Harold a run for his money.

During this time he showed Neville along with the muggle world and even took him to some movies like Star Wars, he liked it very much so Harold took some tube light sabers charmed them to be unbreakable, work without battery and sting whenever hit by it and used it in fencing practice.

Were playing along and unknowingly or knowingly Neville was using 'the force' in their battles. During the whole time he was tutoring Neville he could see Augusta approval in her face but she never congratulated Neville or praised him, so one day when she was not busy he asked for her time and counseled her and then made her create the barrier between 'Dowager Longbottom' and 'Gran'.
