A guideline for authors who are new to the business, written by a fan and veteran webnovel reader. These tips are what I think shows the basic quality of a novel, apart from its story. 

Recently, lots of originals have been popping up, and I have noticed that while they have great potential and exciting storylines and settings, the good aspects are buried in errors that could easily be corrected.

Authors, please give it a read. Of course, you will have your own thoughts and difficulties following these guidelines, but I feel that by following as many as you can, your novel will be more liked. Thank you!

Fellow readers as well as Authors, please feel free to mention other tips I can add to this guide to make it more detailed. I am happy to listen to your opinions on changes that can be made to my current guide.

Our places on this earth are divided by oceans setting us apart from one continent to another. Several countries speaking several languages to understand each other. People with several cultures and beliefs. Different personalities and opinions.

In this chaotic world, we live in called real life we search for a place to escape from that reality. To be accepted as who or what we are. We have found that in the music we sing. In the books, we read. In the movies we watch. In the places, we travel and visit. Everywhere in which we get inspiration to face reality head-on.

We write stories or poems to inspire others, reading the words we weave from our own world. For some of us, it is simply an escape from reality into a world in which we can use our imaginations to dream make-believe or to live our secret fantasies or just plain be creative.

Getting on the web gives us more ways to share and get connected to other people with the same kind of thinking from across the ocean. Some of the people we meet along the way give us reasons to smile again. It's where we become friends, get to know them well, and get so close that we even trust them enough to share our own greatest fears.

I was a living a kind of living death when I found solace here on Stories Space. A place to write, camouflaging my hatred and sadness from myself when I was reading all the poetry and fictional fantasies created by the writers. I found another escape from reality and indulged in reading.

My feelings from my own troubles in life had made me feel so empty that only through laughter and reading could I be free and somewhat whole again.

I made my own heaven in purgatory.

A friend told me to write down all of my pains and troubles in poems or stories. Another friend of mine told me to be fierce in my poetry writing. I found friends who helped me give my own life a reason to continue living again through writing.

Writing makes me calm every time my mind gets into a panic mode. The pains and the fears of the unknown are my muses for writing.

When I met someone who understood me and made me feel needed and loved my poetry changed its tune. It made me think of happy thoughts. I got inspired by the things I saw and the happy memories of my childhood that I could write about.

Painful memories and realities were always there and so I wrote about them from time to time.

When that someone left me I continued writing. The same inner muse I had gained I used to keep on writing.

Then, out of nowhere, I got to know you. I became happy again. This time I got even more inspired and more creative, experimenting with my writings.

I set aside my shyness and reservations to write creatively. I still can't overcome some of my shyness and reservation but I am blooming, inspired by you.

You became my muse.

The man in the moon. The stars in my darkest hours. When at night I can't sleep thinking of you calms me to sleep.

The sunshine after the heavy storm. Where all the dead trees come to life again. That keeps me warm when everything gets chilly.

My own little heaven in my real life purgatory.

Then the Chairman personally led De Xi towards the first row where her seat was allotted, her eyes darkened when her eyes landed on the man who was seated beside hers, but without expressing her views she sat down, Cheng Jiu sat along with other Executive Secretaries.

" it's a pleasure to meet you again Mrs.Lu " Lu Bai said in low voice which only both of them could hear. Even though the whole world knew that they were married, as their marriage was just as famous as that of the British Royalty. But he still preferred to keep his voice low so that there won't be any unnecessary attention towards them.

De Xi looked at him for a second and then turned her head towards the emcee who was now announcing the upcoming dance. She then said in the same low voice " but I can't say the same to you Mr.Lu " her voice was cold and distant, which pricked Lu Bai in his heart, he wanted to hug her and tell her that he was sorry for not involving her in his things because he was afraid that she will be hurt unnecessarily which would be the last thing he would want.

He was about to say something, but before that De Xi said looked at him and said " whatever it is, save it for later, tomorrow if you are free lets meet " saying this De Xi kept a finger on her mouth and motioned him to be quite. He nodded like a puppy because he was on cloud nine as De Xi wanted to meet him.

The show slowly proceeded and after 8 or so performances, the most awaited part of the show started, the awarding function. The Chairman went on the stage and stood behind the podium. " so my dear esteemed guests, let's enter the last segment and the most awaited segment of the annual function and that is student appreciation segment " the Chairman completed which was followed by a big round of applause.

"The first award is for creative mind and the nominations are on the screen " the emcee said and the led screen flashed five pictures of students with names and their projects. One of them was Lu Shuan as well. " I invite our honorable chairman to give out this award " the emcee continued, Chairman who had just returned to his seat went back upstairs again and took the card from the tray which some lady brought it on the stage. He opened the card and read out the name loud and clear " this award is bagged by Miss Lu Shuan for her legendary painting, Linghun (soul) "

The painting was displayed on the full screen, many gasped at the painting, except for De Xi as her keen eyes could find the flaws, even though she appreciated her imagination, but as a painter she felt that if given proper guidelines she would achieve even greater heights. De Xi could she that Lu Shuan was a unpolished diamond which would shine marvelously is polished perfectly. 

Lu Shuan came on the stage, dressed elegantly in a dark brown gown which went well with her porcelain white skin and honey coloured hair. She bowed at everyone and then received the award from the chairman respectfully. She once again bowed and exited the the stage.

" the next award is for great speaker and the nominees are on the screen " the screen flashed the nominees and Li Mei was one of them " the audios of their short speeches played and Li Mei's speech impressed De Xi extremely, she was a good orator, she had the power to manipulate people very easily. " I invite our honorable headmistress to give out the award " the emcee said.

A lady in her late 40s, elegantly dressed in a royal blue silk gown went on the stage and read out the name of the winner "and the student who bagged this awards is Miss Li Mei for her orator skills " everyone applauded, Li Mei who was dressed in navy blue gown went on the stage and and received it with respect and bowed to everyone after receiving it and then exited the stage as well.

De Xi who is a internationally recognized lady not just in single field but in enumerated fields. She is a dream woman for all the men not only inside the nation but also outside the nation as well.

But destiny already bounded her in the relationship called marriage and is also gifted with two beautiful and charming children, but this beauty also has a problem no human would want to have...

Lu Bai who is a world renowned business tycoon and is feared by all, his business empire among the top businesses around the world. He had no hope in love, until he met the with the woman he was bethroned to. Unaware to him he fell head over heels for her.

But fate played in their blooming love and threw them to different corners of the world. Even though they stayed apart, their family always supported them...

In their journey of love and hate, what will happen ? will love win over hate or the converse, let's join their journey of love, hate and family to learn what happens next?

I am a 13 year old who loves reading .I thought that I cold give a try in writing and here I am .Never expected anyone to read my book and Thank you to all who read it.I live in India so we have English as our first language so there won't be many grammatical mistakes.We have compulsory creative writing in English so all of us are used to writing lame stories.I know currently nothing much is happening in the story but I can assure that by the weekend the story will get interesting.

what if, your marriage was not your own choice

I'm actually a little doubtful there are people still here now... I mean, there's only two Original Works I even want to work on: Those being this and An Adventure Beyond Greatness! ...Though I feel kinda unmotivated when I'm writing by myself and there's no one to talk to. Life's empty these days...

There are times I'm motivated by 'Hey, there might be a comment the next time I post' and then I just wait for it, feel satisfied once I see it, then go write the next chapter because I feel some worth in spending my time writing a story for readers.

I've also tried working on a Gaiaverse RP Amino that has three works as it's foundation (Battlefield Restart, An Adventure Beyond Greatness, and An Identity Beyond Self, that are basically three different variants of Isekai) but don't have any experience in Role-Playing so I don't know how to write the Guidelines. I already made plans to write a fictional universe like the Gaiaverse but there's too little things I am able to do for it right now...

A lot of IRL stuff have been weighing down on my mind recently. I'm not sure if I should be following the trends online to grab readers or just do as I want... Ah, I'm jealous of those who do as they want and don't question it like the characters I create. And also feeling inferior to actual authors...

Anyway, I find myself a better critic rather than writing my own works thanks to my very nitpicking nature acting up whenever I see a good story that only needs some improvements. There are those who I've seen give 'feedback' on stories online but why do I feel they miss the point of being a critic?

I've went around A LOT of websites that have to do with writing and in the end, I found there was one big example of what I mean on closer than I thought Discord. There was a chapter that ticked all my boxes and made me interested as a reader on top of it about its plot but in the end of the day all I saw was a 'feedback' telling this good writer that they 'made a mistake by not explaining the core conflicts and character's personality in-depth'.

This critique really made my head turn as I couldn't understand how they missed the point of the chapter as well as how 'not giving information that isn't needed right now' adds an air of mystique.

I mean, there's a difference between 'narrating' for your audience and 'telling them the details'. The former layers a story with emotions while the latter only make them this 'yep, this is happening now'.

After all, investment doesn't come from knowing the overall situation but the characters who draw intrigue. Question like: 'What are this man's intentions?' And 'Does this person actually mean what they say?' Are what adds subtext that shows that the writer is trusting their reader connect the dots that aren't outright stated in the story.

Of course, there's a difference between holding back information because you yourself don't have the answers and doing it because you have a plan for later. Even Professional Authors like the J.R.R Martin name drop organisations and places before going in-depth once they become relevant later.

What my point is that as long as you have a plan for later, it isn't NECESSARY to give all the information at once. If you summarise the story in the first chapter alone, what will you have for later?

It's like how badly the Cautious Hero Anime could have become if it only repeated its main gimmick without any flare later on (though if your story is based off nothing more than a gimmick then you should keep it as a short story rather than lengthening it for no reason). Instead it actually had a lot more elements that was explored later on.

My reason for going on and on about this is because I feel that there are too many with their critics aiming towards what they want to see later because it's interesting rather than if the written draft is good right now.

I know this sounds similar to what I wrote that time I quite this story which was basically 'I got harassed by people not knowing how to criticise a story properly' but I feel like it's still relevant now.

And you might want to tune in since a plot twist you kinda saw coming but didn't expect to happen will come up in the next few chapters.

This is a story I worked on ages ago that has been refined and edited by adding foreshadowing to events while also simplifying the power system better than before. This story can be considered a prequel to An Adventure Beyond Greatness as it takes place years prior to the events of that story.

Short Synopsis:
After retiring from the battlefield, my life became empty and lifeless. The regrets of my past haunt me in my sleep. Then a change occurred, a King from another world summoned me to fight for his kingdom, but I died even before I could give him my answer. Now, after a fake God allowed me to reincarnate (albeit imperfectly) with my memories intact, into a world filled with magic and swords.

Long Synopsis:
This is about a flawed protagonist who only knew to rely on others and not socialise who gets a second chance to change himself in order to live the life he aimed for in his past life. The narrator isn’t exactly trustworthy since it is purely in his bias perspective while other perspectives given by others fill in the blanks that he either leaves out or twists to suit the situation.

The story itself can be considered a parody of Isekai’s classic tropes which are given a sense of reality as time goes by. As there exists no ‘Demon Lord’, there is also no black and white, only characters opinions and counter-opinions throughout the story.

Daeva after bumping with Juno, she thought that her behavior wasn't so nice. But when the school bell rings, she snapped out of it and went to her designated room for her subject. Daeva is a fourth year college student in Literature and Creative Writing. She thought of becoming a writer to write literary pieces based on her experiences. Also, she thought that becoming a writer would allow her to have a small chance of interacting with people.

When she was about to enter her room, her Professor bumped into her. Mrs. Sanchez smiled at her. Daeva greeted her good morning and Mrs. Sanchez greeted her in return.

They both entered the room and Daeva sat at the second row. Mrs. Sanchez greeted her class and began discussing a lesson about her subject. She kept blabbing in front while Daeva glanced at the window. She caught a glimpse of Juno who's about to leave the school gates. As she follows Juno with her eyes, she began to feel a sharp pain at her left forearm. She didn't bother looking at it, she knows that it's currently bleeding so she just pulled her black sleeves lower. She returned her attention to her discussing professor and listens to her.

A couple of subjects passed then Daeva's lunch break arrived. She quickly ate at the cafeteria before going to the library. The school's library was enormous. It's also where the book club is rooming. Daeva is a member of the Book club and happens to be a good friend of Kevin, the Book club's president. When Daeva came in, she found Kevin fixing books that weren't returned to the proper shelve. She just picked up some books that were left at the tables and did the same. There weren't too much people in the library for now so she started casually chatting with Kevin.

"Hey Kev, you seem frustrated... What's wrong??" asked Daeva.

"Student School Council Vice President...She destroyed my morning." said Kevin casually.

"What did she do to you?" Daeva felt curious.

"Oh nothing...She just shuted me out... refusing to do some student council duties...or simply take the proposal and leave it to miss President's table... That's all..." Kevin replied.

Daeva didn't asked further what happened...But then, she felt like the person who she bumped with earlier at the hall way was the Vice President.

"The Vice President, was she the campus belle I keep hearing about." Daeva asked.

"Hmm? Yeah, that's her...Why, what's up?" asked Kevin as he finished arranging the books.

"I think she's the pretty blonde girl I bumped with this early morning. She wasn't really polite." Daeva said as she scratches the area where she felt pain while staring at Juno.

Kevin saw Daeva scratched her forearm right bellow her palm. He looked at Daeva with malicious intent. His lips curved up at one side. He then grab Daeva's hand and brought her to the school's clinic. Daeva didn't resisted and just followed Kevin.

The nurse was currently out of the clinic so Daeva's forearm can be treated. She pulled her sleeve up and let Kevin treat her wound. Kevin cleaned the blood off and covered it with bandage. When he was done, Daeva thanked Kevin and they came back to the library. 

There, while Daeva was waiting for her next class like Kevin, they decided to read a book. Daeva picked a random fantasy book while Kevin opened his laptop and read about demons.

"Let's go home together later and just order pizza for dinner, what do you say?" Kevin offered to Daeva.

Daeva just nodded, it's not very often that they go home together. Daeva and Kevin are roommates and oftentimes, Daeva gets home first before Kevin because of his club president duties.

Almost an hour have passed and Kevin closed his laptop. It's time for his next class, Daeva still have over half an hour before her next subject so Kevin just left her. When Kevin left the library, the atmosphere in the library became gloomy. Anyone who's in there felt uncomfortable, some left but some ignored it. Daeva is feeling a bit irritated but what can she do? She can't get rid of them...never...

Daeva kept reading until its just 15min left before her next class. She stood up from her sit and returned the book into one of the shelves. She felt a hand caressed her cheek and hear a chuckle. Daeva ignored it and left the library.

When she's out of the library, she can feel that someone ran "its" fingers on her hair. Her mouth was twitching, slowly forming a malicious grin. She covered her mouth with her hands, then, she took out a face mask from her pants's pocket and covered her grin. She went to her next class as if nothing had happened.

She still have 2 subjects left for her to survive. Her 3rd subject for the day passed as if it was a filler chapter of her day. Nothing very interesting occurred nor the class. But on her final subject of the day: Creative Writing, the class was given an activity and that is to write a poem. The poem have no specific theme but should be rhyming.

Writing poems weren't a problem for Daeva at all. She doesn't limit herself when it comes to writing and its subject. She writes what's in her mind and what she feels. They we're given an hour and when they were done, they are then dismissed. Daeva finished after 30min, she's always the first one to finish. As she passed her work and leaves the room, her professor Mr.Wilson gave her work a read.

This is a collection of different stories but all told by one person, Daeva. A mysterious young woman who's always very reserved and isolated from everyone. You may approach her like anyone else but beware...

This is a horror/suspense story...please read with caution. You might not be able to sleep at night with lights off and open doors and windows.

This will be an information chapter. It's not apart of the actual story since it's in the auxiliary volume however it will have extras. Such as a world map. And any other things that is not in the main chapters would be here (When I'm bothered enough to write it).
World Map: The link for the world map will be in the comments as you can't copy and paste text within webnovel. The world has 3 continents Drago, Kingdar, Faltro. And there are multiple countries however there are 4 main ones. Read the story to find out why they're the main ones. They're named Yelgard, Relgraw, Veldrey and Camelot.
Also why the names are written weird on the map is explained in the 3rd chapter (sorta) but it's basically the writing system of Xaltrey is English but fancily written because I'm not creative.
History of Xaltrey: Read the book. That's the juicy stuff. I can't give it away yet. However it hasn't been revealed yet as I'm writing but eventually.

Alright here are the rules. I am a newbie author so no complaint about it being a crappy story.

Second I am from Europe and even thou I amusing Grammarly mistakes will be made be aware of that

Third I'm a high school first-year meaning I have a lot to take care of and do so if this gets dropped do not complain

This is a harem story so don't even try to dissuade me, I don't care, if you don't like it then stop reading

I am not a robot, I can not pump-out chapters I have a life and things to take care of any complaints about the release rate being slow will be ignored I frankly don't care about those comments as I will always put my personal life above writing chapters for you

I don't want any shit comments, you hear me? If you have a criticizing comment, a comment to help me improve or just generally a good comment then that's all right, but if you bullshit me for bullshit's sake then make sure to eat up that bullshit later I don't want it to stain my carpet

Also, I want all of you to read this and if you see any bullshit comments just point them to this chapter

Finally, this story was made from a flash and an inspiration, I was reading THE TRIALS: Path Towards Godhood and I saw FBI_B1TCH comment on how there are no Black Clover fics and he was right so I was like 'Well balls to the walls' and I wrote this so I don't have anything planned (except the general guidelines) so don't expect me to tell you about the plans for this fic course I have none I literally just make up stuff on the spot

With all that being said I do hope you enjoy this fic and that it reaches 100 chapters, I will try to release a chapter a week at least but no promises are made, I will also try to answer any questions you have in the author's notes so you better read that also there might be updates to these rules in the future

Finally, as a truly final paragraph, I will be doing mass releases depending on my mood, I might be happy or sad and that will determine not only the story but also the releases, and your comments influence that mood so as much as good comments can make more frequent mass releases bad comments garner punishment, such as not releasing for a week or so, so you better watch out

Adam is your typical average college student, he goes to school, he hangs out with his friends, and today is his lucky day. His friend made a friend of his sister go on a date with Adam and he is pumped for finally having a date. Unfortunately en route to the restaurant his fate turns grimm and he dies a horrible death. He wakes up sometime later in a standing position in front of a big bookshelf where a book comes flying down to him. It's the exact same scene as Black Clover, and boy oh boy, the power he is given is special. Now he has no choice or rather the power he acquired changed him and made it so that he has no choice but to get involved with the plot. Time to have some wild, wild fun.
