I'm Halle. I'm a 14 year old 8th grader. I like to read romance, comedy, thriller, and nerdy novels. I absolutely love tea, especially Arizona Sweet Tea. I can eat peanut butter with anything and I like skateboarding. I live in a small town in the countryside. It's constantly raining, with occasional rain in the summertime. I have a large family that consists of 34 cousins on my dad's side of the family with three aunts and two uncles. My dad's mother has married seven times. She has been widowed and divorced. My grandfather was divorced by her because he was an alcoholic. She raised my father and his siblings with little money, in a small home. On my mother's side I have eight great aunts and uncles. My mother is an only child, my grandparents had divorced when she was still a minor. I have an older brother and my parents are still happily married. I have many pets consisting of chickens, horses, donkeys, guinea pigs, dogs, cats, and goats. My family used to have a male cow but he was sold. Growing up my mother was often told that her dearest daughter had angelic features. I'm told that I was very well behaved besides me being the pickiest eater the world has ever seen with an OCD towards everything. During this year I have been told that I have an angelic smile and I have been reminded many times of how I have very small ears and long fingers. I have been told countless times that I smell good, like pumpkin spice, and another best friend of mine's brother told me that I "smell good, like girl." I've also been told that I have a great personality and that I'm "weird" but a good weird "like a weird that makes people laugh and smile." I have so many things to brag about, like how when my family went to Alaska, my mother, grandmother, and I were leaving a gift shop and the woman at the front counter told my grandmother that "that girl has beautiful hair" which led to my granny proudly telling the woman "that's my granddaughter." Another perfect thing about me is that I like to play the piano and write poems. Some of the poems I have written consist of "My Thanksgiving Feast:

Even though I have all these "perfect" traits people still judge me on stupid things like how I write in cursive, "Why are you writing in cursive?" like it's a bad thing that I'm writing in cursive and I shouldn't do it because it's "weird." I also get other stupid comments about my handwriting like "You write your d's and g's weird." because when I write in print I use cursive y's and g's and my d's have always been like that. And people constantly reminding me of how I'm "too innocent and pure" really irritates me, and since I'm passive aggressive I won't tell people to back off and stop pointing out stupid little details about me. I never point out little details about them in prissy little tones so why do it to me. I used to be naive and make friends with everyone and talk to everyone, I never once thought "he's so weird" or "ugh he really irritates me" but these sly little comments people are trying to pass as "innocent opinions" are taking my kindhearted personality for granted. Why are you just now pointing these things out and why do you care? It's just how I am so stop judging me.

Instead of writing a novel I decided to talk about myself. Thinking about what to write gives me writer's block. And everything I think of is way too similar to other people's writing ideas. "Tomboy meets bad boy" "Gangsters little mistress" "New to town". Nothing is original enough in my head. I can't make a comic because I'm bad at drawing and I don't like drawing. I only like writing poetry and ever since the 4th grade I've really enjoyed writing short stories but this is a challenge. I have to write a 10 thousand to 20 thousand word novel and submit it within 10 days. I don't HAVE to write it, but I want the prize of 800 coins so I can read more of the novels I enjoy. Because if it's one thing I know, it's that I love to read. The stories that people create on webnovel are so creative and it just shows how talented these people are. These people have absolutely FANTASTIC ideas and I wish I at least had an OUNCE of their creativity. I know that when submitting an original novel I will only have the slightest chance of getting the prize of 800 coins. In this massive vast ocean of creativity I have a 1/1,000,000 chance of being noticed. And with that being said I still have hope that I'll be noticed by at least someone. The beginning of my speech massively talks about my perfection and is SO boring that even I would have no enjoyment in reading this. But at least one person on this earth is capable of liking this. And they would be an absolute maniac to do so. I mean like they must have some MASSIVE mental issues. But I actually enjoyed writing this, it brought out my frustrated and tired emotions I've been pushing down for the sake of people's feelings. I HATE hurting people's feelings. While writing I've also been listening to classic rock from the '60s, '70s, and '80s. I've also been drinking iced chai tea with Minecraft music playing in the background. Fun fact about me, I like video games. This could be a flaw in some eyes, but it could also be a good thing in others. I have a PS3, yes I know the "XbOx Is BeTtEr" but this is what I'm stuck with. I'm actually a tomboy and like playing Call of Duty Black OPS II and Minecraft, and since my old Xbox is at my grandma's house, when I visit her I play Tony Hawk skater games. In 5th grade I was at my greatest height of tomboyness. I wore basketball shorts and baggy t-shirts every day with my blue high top converse. And since most of the time it's cold where I live, I would wear athletic leggings under my shorts, and in 6th grade boys started to wear leggings under their shorts too. Everyday I would put my hair up into a ponytail and I'd always call people "bro" and "dude" and I even wore boxer briefs and stole my brother's clothes. The reason why I became a tomboy was because I looked up to my brother A LOT. I wanted to be just like him, even though I'm a girl. I didn't want to change my gender or be called a "guy", but I did want people to notice me as a tomboy. In 6th grade I was less of a tomboy and went to my country girl stage, mixing with the tomboy stage. In 7th grade I became somewhat "normal" and would wear ripped jeans and sweatshirts just like the other girls. I even started wearing mascara. That same year I started to develop a "thing" for redheads, and to this day I'm still into redheads. I mean their hair is so unique and their eyelashes aren't BROWN OR BLACK AND IT"S AMAZING. Which brings me to my "crush" list. In 7th grade I decided to write down all of my crushes and say what I liked about them. All of them were athletic and cute so you could tell my "type."
1st: "I have a crush on P. He's tall, thin, cute, handsome, and I THINK he's nice and funny, plus he's a football player. In a game of capture the flag P got tagged by the other team, so I ran over to tag him back into the game, but I ran into S and got tagged. Someone (I can't remember who) tagged me back in and I tagged P in right away. Out of all my three crushes (note: why the freak did I have three crushes at once, what was wrong with me???) he's second best. P is also dating my friend J though… so that's weird/awkward. She doesn't know though.
2nd: "T is someone I a tiny bit like. He's nice, funny?, sweet and if he was fit (no offence) (note: DANG I was judgmental, one again, what was wrong with me???) he'd be cute, plus he's a football player. I sit next to T in honors ELA and was partnered with him in Technology in the 6th grade. He once for a little while said and told people that I told him to "go drink bleach and die in a hole," (note: what the freak, why is everything in this book weird) which I never actually told him to do, or even thought of it. I think he was imagining things or mistaken me for someone else who told him that. I think he's gotten over that now. He likes to spread the rumor that he has a crush on me, but I know that he will never actually like me. T does wrestling too, but I now only like him as a 'friend'." (Note: he's actually one of my best friends now and he's pretty darn awesome.)
3rd: "E is my ultimate crush. He's nice, sweet, funny, handsome, cute , has dimples, and thinks I'm pretty (note: oh my gosh this entire page is filled with things about him). He's a freshman and I'm only a 7th grader, but I just can't help but like him, like A LOT. Sometimes I have dreams with him in them and I also daydream about him all the time. He kept looking at me in Silverwood (note: that's because you kept staring at him without knowing it you naive girl), but I think that's just because of my indents (note: my indents are the scars I have from when I got molluscum contagiosum, a sickness you get from other little kids). He's good friends with G. E goes to a preparatory school or private school (either one I can't remember)(note:he doesn't; he just goes to a different school than me). He's amazing. When I was in line to go on Aftershock for the first time I was scared and worried but he helped me feel better. The second time I went on Aftershock (on the same day) K went on with me and G wouldn't give up him and E's inner seats but E did. He's so incredible! 
4th: "C has been my friend since we were little kids (I think preschool). He's funny and nice. I think our friendship is one sided. He's one of my best GUY friends. But I think I'm just some annoying girl to him (note: SIGGGHHHH). I like to tease him and do things like punch him in the shoulder (note: no wonder he thinks I'm annoying, gosh). I don't punch him anymore though because I know he doesn't like it (note: DUH). C is a football player and plays video games (which is a plus). His mom likes me. She even asked me to punch him on time.
5th: "H is SO, SO, SO cute. He's not as cute as E but, you know. H is tall and fit (note: no he's not he's chubby). He always wears these camouflage sweatpants. He's SO cool. He has the BEST fake British accent  EVER. Every time he does the accent I fall even more for him. Every time I look at the clock I see from the corner of my eye him making a funny face to me (note: that's because he liked me and so did some other kid in our class). He's nice to me. In gym class whenever I fail to do something he tells me it's alright and, in my mind, supports me. I really like him. But not as much as I like E.

As you can see I was boy crazy.

It all began the day before my father's death. I remember our last conversation as clear as day. I admitted to him my lack of confidence in my desired profession. I told him I want to become a writer but that I lack the ability to be truly creative. I lack the ability to see it in my mind. I just want to be an author and create something new and admirable. When I spoke of my worries to him, of my faltering conscience, he only laughed. It made me angry, but before I could speak on it, he spoke to me. 
"I know you, Gracie, and I believe you can do whatever you put your mind to." He held my hand and squeezed gently. As much as I knew he was trying to comfort me, it didn't help as much as I wanted it too. He's been telling me this my whole life. 
"I don't know, dad. I think I'm in over my head.  I want to live many different lives. I only get one chance at the one I have now and the only time I can really get out to the world and make friends and create things that others could never do is through words." Feeling tears come at this admission, I let go of his hand. He didn't look hurt and my irritation flared some. I have a slight temper problem sometimes. It can be an upsetting development in certain situations because nobody knows quite what to do with me. It's one of the other reasons I want to escape this world. I'm not sure I could really live with how people look at me. Disgust. Fear. Upset. The only people who ever understand me is dad, Timmy, and my mom. My dad is an old soul and very clumsy. He's always breaking stuff. Timmy is only a small child. Well, he was a small child. My mom is a very quiet person. Though when she does talk, she's a very chipper woman. I think I got my temper from my grandpa. He died about two years back, but I knew him well enough to keep my distance. 
"It'll all work out. I just know it will." Dad said to me. It was a small comfort, knowing I had his support. 
The next day, we ate dinner at the table together. Timmy was eating his Macaroni and cheese with his hands and sitting in his high chair. Mom hadn't realized what had happened until much later and I was locked inside my own mind, traveling around the depths and corners, still trying to distinguish and organize everything in there.
At first I thought the clump sound I heard was Timmy throwing his bowl again, so I paid no mind. I wish I could go back to my 13 year old self and tell myself to pay attention. Maybe it wouldn't have ended that way.
It's been fifteen years since that moment. I remember that distinct sound, that CLUMP! that ended all the normalcy of my life. It was a heart attack, we were told. I don't ever remember heart attacks ever causing someone to be in a coma for six years. Mom eventually gave up and signed the paperwork to pull the plug. He's gone now. They told us after his first examination that if we had gotten him to the hospital even a few moments before, he would have had a better chance at survival. It was all my fault then. Mom was hysterical and her first instinct was to run to him and hold his spasming body. How I couldn't even notice him right in front of me, having a seizure of some sort, I have no idea. I guess I was just too absorbed and too busy being selfish. 
I'm twenty eight now. I finished a four year college on literature, journalism, and the fine arts. I figured learning about creative things would give me some real creative ideas. After graduating, it was difficult to find a decent working job. I found a company called "If Life Was a Book" and applied there. The company was created specifically for aspiring authors. They allow me to write my stories there and have them edited and published. The more popularity, the more money goes into the company. It's only a new place, but I'm sure it will be prosperous. It's almost always half full in the main writing room. I find the typing on the keyboards to be pleasing.
I remember Timothy's reaction when I told him I finally found the perfect place to live out my dream profession. He was playing video games in his room and there was a girl in there. I honestly think he could do much better than that. The girl looked like a slutty hippie, with those really high Mexican style heels, the short, tight, shiny shirt and the lumpy skirt with soft looking fabric. She had her hair up messily and I realized what had occurred after a moment of thinking. There was even a used condom on the floor. 
When I told Timmy of my accomplishment, he barely said anything to me. I'm sure he heard me because he nodded in my direction. I learned later that the girl's name is Lizabeth, but most people just call her Beth. 
Mom's reaction was none too similar. Ever since dad was first induced into his coma, mom killed off her twenty two years of sobriety. She was always drunk. This time, when I came to her with the news, she just laughed at me. 
"Oh Grrracie, Gracc—," She laughed an amused laugh and stumbled forward a bit. "Do you really think he's cheering you on right now? No, he's not. He's wondering right this second as he watches his daughter just why he helped birth you. He wonders why you try SO hard to accomplish something you'll never be able to have. He would be ashamed to find you still groveling to everyone around you. He would be ashamed to know that you aren't even doing this for his family. Wouldn't it be sad if he knew why you're really doing this? How do you think he would feel if he knew you only work at that dumb company because you're still in denial that he's gone." She let out a snarky laugh. I've gotten used to this type of behavior from her. It's become almost normal. 
Before I know what's happening, I'm in her face, blood boiling and face scrunched up in anger. I huffed into her face.
"And I bet he's turning over in his grave watching you be such a wonderful mother." Sarcasm so strong it could break through titanium leaks out dreadfully. The words are cruel, I know, but I couldn't keep them in. Her eyes fill up to the brim with salt water. She slaps me, something I didn't see coming until I felt the burn on my face. She's seething. She's said all these things to me and when I get mad, she rages. I'm not even sure what she was expecting. I let out a dark, humorless laugh and walk out the room. 
I don't allow myself to cry as I leave that house. I needed to go back to my book. 
I've been working at the company for three years now. I've written a few books since then. Only two, but I never thought writing would be so time consuming. I wrote a book about a girl gaining special powers from her father who happened to be the King. She didn't know that until the end though. The other book was about a girl who is constantly being chased by her own nightmares and one day the Nightbringer welcomes himself into the dreams and turns them into reality. It was almost a reflection of my life. That was probably why it was such a successful book. "The Nightbringer," I called it. It was only so successful because it was very detailed and reflected my emotions. I had to add the story of my life in the acknowledgements if only to help people understand me better.
That moment three years ago was the moment I realized I couldn't stay in that house anymore, so I left without saying a word. It wasn't worth staying anyway. I got an apartment on one of the quieter parts of town. The city shuffled everywhere all the time, always moving. Maybe that's what kept the city alive. It doesn't matter though because I'm used to it by now.
I walk through the door of my home after a long day of tapping keys. I made it to about two hundred thousand letters today and my fingers ached. It was definitely more than I usually write. Even sticking the keys through the doorknob was difficult. My hands shook and it took a whole six and a half minutes to finally get the door open. My neighbor lended a hand after hearing me struggling with it and then walked back inside his apartment. Inside was cold. The cold air had been turned on this morning. I woke up sweating because of the heat and turned it on this morning. If seems as though I forgot to turn it back off again. It feels like a blizzard rolled in unannounced. 
I'm so stupid, I think to myself. Why am I such an idiot? And so forgetful? You'd think I'd have learned by now. Mistakes being made seems to be a habit I've had recently. I just can't help it. I've been trying to quit, but nothing seems to work. I sigh as I set down the keys. I'm so tired I could sleep for ages. It's a Thursday though, so I can't expect anything nice tomorrow except more writing early in the morning. I get paid tomorrow. I'm ready to hurry up and get these damn bills paid for and done with. Great. Just great. I've begun cursing in my own head. A humorless laugh escapes me. I seem to be having a good bit of those recently. What the hell am I supposed to do. 
I jump as I stand there. I hear a vibrating sound along with some sort of alarm and my heart skitters and jumps. Then I realize the buzzing and alarm sounds are coming from my phone. 
Once again, I feel a wave of self-totally-not-appreciation. "Yunoka" the ringer said. Yuno is my best friend if not my only friend. She's Japanese but definitely knows her English. She's taught me the basic of Japanese and I tend to educate her on Spanish sometimes which I took in high school. 
I press the green call button and bring the phone to my ear. As I do that, I begin removing my shoes. "Hello?" My voice is tired and I hope she doesn't notice. 
No such luck.
"Oh my goodnessers, Gracie, are you alright? You sound like someone just karate chopped you in the throat and then stole your voice, chopped that, too and gave it back in an unsuccessful surgery." I let out a rough laugh, and my throat was sore. Yuno can always make me laugh.
"Oddly specific." I mutter after my laugh.
"For good reason, girl, trust me. Anyway, I was calling to see if you could edit my article for the newspaper."
"You're still working on that thing? Don't you know that nobody reads those except old people?"
"Hey, one day we will be those old people reading these papers. Be respectful to your elders, Gracie because one day those elders could be you." I laugh again.
"Yes, ma'am." I joke. All of a sudden Yuno's voice is serious. 
"Gracie, on a more serious note, how have you been feeling? I know your mother isn't doing too well and Timmy is still being a man hoe and failing at life, so I want to know if you've been alright. You haven't been pushing yourself too hard, have you?" I don't have to think of my answer too long. 
"Have no fear, Yuno, everything is fine. As for my mom and Timmy, they've made their choices. I'm just caught up in work and deadlines right now although I definitely passed it today."
Yuno's voice is sincere: "I know, honey. Maybe you should take a leave of absence for a little while. You know, kind of relax. Take a deep breath and think about things. I know how you can be sometimes. It can't possibly be healthy." Now I just really want to end the call. I hate talking about serious stuff. It bothers me on a very severe emotional level. 
I have always told Yuno that my home life isn't something I like to talk about so hearing her talking about it to me like it's some normal thing we do all the time is annoying. 
"Yuno." I reply sternly. "Good night. I need sleep. It's the only relaxing I'm going to get anytime soon." 
I swiftly end the call and take a shower. The water on my back is more relaxing than any lousy breaks. My work is what keeps me sane and alive. Yuno doesn't understand me at all. I'm still going to try to fit in editing her article into my schedule, but I'm still not happy about her intrusion on my personal life. 
I hurry out of the shower and into my bed. It's definitely not the most comfortable thing in the world, but's it's better than home. No, I tell myself. This is my home. 
But in my mind, a distant saying circles my brain and hounds my thoughts.
"Home is where the heart is."

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) is an online multiplayer battle royale gamedeveloped and published by PUBG Corporation, a subsidiary of South Korean video game company Bluehole. The game is based on previous mods that were created by Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene for other games using the film Battle Royale for inspiration, and expanded into a standalone game under Greene's creative direction. In the game, up to one hundred players parachute onto an island and scavenge for weapons and equipment to kill others while avoiding getting killed themselves. The available safe area of the game's map decreases in size over time, directing surviving players into tighter areas to force encounters. The last player or team standing wins the round.

Lead designer Brendan Greene, better known by his online handle PlayerUnknown, had previously created the ARMA 2 mod DayZ: Battle Royale, an offshoot of popular mod DayZ, and inspired by the 2000 Japanese film Battle Royale.[9][10] At the time he created DayZ: Battle Royale, around 2013, Irish-born Greene had been living in Brazil for a few years as a photographer, graphic designer, and web designer, and played video games such as Delta Force: Black Hawk Down and America's Army.[11][12] The DayZ mod caught his interest, both as a realistic military simulation and its open-ended gameplay, and started playing around with a custom server, learning programming as he went along.[11]Greene found most multiplayer first-person shooters too repetitive, considering maps small and easy to memorize. He wanted to create something with more random aspects so that players would not know what to expect, creating a high degree of replayability; this was done by creating vastly larger maps that could not be easily memorized, and using random item placement across it.[13] Greene was also inspired by an online competition for DayZ called Survivor GameZ, which featured a number of Twitch.tv and YouTube streamersfighting until only a few were left; as he was not a streamer himself, Greene wanted to create a similar game mode that anyone could play.[13] His initial efforts on this mod were more inspired by The Hunger Gamesnovels, where players would try to vie for stockpiles of weapons at a central location, but moved away from this partially to give players a better chance at survival by spreading weapons around, and also to avoid copyright issues with the novels.[10] In taking inspiration from the Battle Royale film, Greene had wanted to use square safe areas, but his inexperience in coding led him to use circular safe areas instead, which persisted to Battlegrounds.[10]

When DayZ became its own standalone title, interest in his ARMA 2 version of the Battle Royale mod trailed off, and Greene transitioned development of the mod to ARMA 3.[11] Sony Online Entertainment (now the Daybreak Game Company) had become interested in Greene's work, and brought him on as a consultant to develop on H1Z1, licensing the battle royale idea from him.[11] In February 2016, Sony Online split H1Z1 into two separate games, the survival mode H1Z1: Just Survive, and the battle royale-like H1Z1: King of the Kill, around the same time that Greene's consultation period was over.[14]

Separately, the Seoul-based studio Ginno Games, led by Chang-han Kim and who developed massively multiplayer online games (MMOs) for personal computers, was acquired and renamed Bluehole Ginno Games by Bluehole in January 2015, a major South Korean publisher of MMOs and mobile games.[15][16] Kim recognized that producing a successful game in South Korea generally meant it would be published globally, and wanted to use his team to create a successful title for personal computers that followed the same model as other mobile games published by Bluehole. He had already been excited about making a type of battle royale game after he had played DayZ, in part that the format had not caught on in Korea. He also wanted to make this through an early accessmodel and have a very limited development schedule to get the game out as quickly as possible, while treating the product as a "games as a service" model to be able to support it for many years.[15] In researching what had been done, he came across Greene's mods and reached out to him.[15] In July 2017, Bluehole partnered with social media platform Facebook to provide exclusive streaming content to Facebook's gaming channels, as part of their pushing to provide more gaming content for its users.[17]

Around the same time that Greene left Sony Online, Kim contacted and offered him the opportunity to work on a new battle royale concept. Within a week, Greene flew out to Bluehole's headquarters in Korea to discuss the options, and a few weeks later, became the creative director of Bluehole. He moved to South Korea to oversee development.[13]According to Greene, this was the first time a Korean game studio had brought aboard a foreigner for a creative director role, and while a risk, he says that his relationship with Bluehole's management is strong, allowing Greene's team to work autonomously with minimal oversight.[6] The game's main musical theme was composed by Tom Salta, who was personally selected by Green as he and the team were looking for an "orchestral electronic hybrid theme" that would give players a "huge build-up", keeping them "resolutely determined" until a match starts.[18]

Development began in early 2016 and was publicly announced that June, with plans to have the game ready within a year.[19][20] Kim served as executive producer for the game.[13]Bluehole started with a team of about 35 developers supporting Greene's work, but had expanded to 70 by June 2017.[21] Greene stated that many of these developers were voluntarily putting in longer work hours into the game due to their dedication to the project, and not by any mandate from himself or Bluehole's management.[13][22] In addition to Bluehole, Greene also credits Bohemia Interactive, the developers of ARMA and DayZ, for support with motion capture animations via their Prague studio.[22][21]

With the rapid growth of interest in the game, Bluehole spun out the entire development for Battlegrounds into Bluehole Ginno Games in September 2017, which was renamed PUBG Corporation with Kim as its chief executive officer. PUBG Corporation continued the development of the game and its marketing and growth, opening an office in the United States with plans for future ones in Europe and Japan.[23] In August 2018, PUBG Corporation launched the "Fix PUBG" campaign, acknowledging that that game by then still had several lingering bugs and other performance issues.[24] The campaign finished in November, with PUBG Corporation calling it a success as everything listed had been implemented by then.[25]

Design

Battlegrounds represents the standalone version of what Greene believes is the "final version" of the battle royale concept, incorporating the elements he had designed in previous iterations.[6][26] Faster development was possible with the game engine Unreal Engine 4, compared with ARMA and H1Z1, which were built with proprietary game engines. Greene acknowledged that implementing the size of the maps in Battlegrounds has been one of the challenges with working with Unreal, which was not designed with such maps in mind.[6][11] The game was designed as a mix between the realistic simulation of ARMA 3 and the arcade-like action focus and player accessibility of H1Z1.[5][13]

Based on Greene's experience with the genre, an island with many terrain features was picked as the first map, known as "Erangel".[10]The map design scope was to offer players many possible options for strategic and unique gameplay.[4] Some buildings and structures were designed to depict the style of the brutalist architecture of the Soviet Unionduring the 1950s. The developer team playtested architecture features and random item placement systems, looking at both how close-quarters encounters went, and for open terrain areas.[4] The goal was to optimize the right distribution and placement of weapons and gear across the map, to encourage players to make strategic decisions about how to proceed in the game without overly penalizing players who may not find weapons within the first few minutes of a round.[6]During early access, additional maps were planned, such as one set on a fictional island in the Adriatic Sea that included snow-covered Yugoslavian territories.[27][21] Greene stated that he thought the Erangel map felt disjointed despite meeting their goals for gameplay, and sought to create more unified ideas with future maps.[10]

The freefall from an airplane at the start of each match was a new feature for the genre, to encourage strategy between staying with the pack of players or seeking out one's own route for a better chance at finding good loot.[6] With the added parachute drop, Greene considered that Battlegrounds had three distinct subgames: the airdrop during which one must quickly figure out the best time to jump and where to land in relationship to the other players, the loot game of knowing where and how to gather the best possible equipment, and the combat game with other players.[28] Players who win a match are greeted with the phrase "winner winner chicken dinner", an idiom that Greene had used in his prior battle royale games and kept in Battlegrounds, which itself had origins as early as the Great Depression.[29]

Features that Greene anticipates adding include custom games and moddingsupport.[6][13] He considered modding support an essential part of the full release as, just as he had his start with mods, he wants to enable others to create variations on his game so that he can "find the next PlayerUnknown".[30] Greene also wants to incorporate the game with streaming services like Twitch.tv that would enable replays or other features amenable to treating Battlegrounds as an esport.[6][13] Greene had anticipated that Battlegrounds would develop into an esport, and this was an ultimate end goal for his development, but he wanted to let the nature of how it would play out as an esport grow naturally with the player community.[12] He also plans to introduce microtransactions to allow players to use real-world funds to purchase loot crates that provide randomly-selected cosmetic items, also known as "skins", which they can trade with other players; while Greene recognizes the issue with skin gambling, he believes that Valve has put safeguards in place to support a "skin economy" that will provide further revenue for them without concerns over gambling.[7] However, by November 2017, gray market skin gambling sites began to appear, using Battlegrounds cosmetics as virtual currency.[31] Following controversy over the use of loot boxes to offer "pay-to-win" items in other games in November 2017, the PUBG Corporation affirmed that while they will continue to add new cosmetic items rewarded by in-game crate purchases, they "will never add anything that affects the gameplay".[32] In May 2018, PUBG Corporation disabled the ability to trade skins on the Steam Marketplace as they found that players were still abusing the system by selling them for monetary value through unofficial third-party platforms.[33]

While in early access, Bluehole offered an early preview of the system by offering time-limited crates that could be purchased during the first Battlegrounds Invitations tournament during Gamescom in August 2017, with the sales from these contributing to the prize pool. Among loot from these crates are special outfits inspired by the Battle Royalemovie.[34] Greene anticipates adding a campaign mode with co-operative player support, though there would be "no serious lore" crafted for the narrative, comparing this to similar modes in Watch Dogs.[35]

The game, while in early access, has already received alternate gameplay modes created by players, determined by unenforceable rules that players agree to abide by, that have been popular with streamers. This was aided by a quiet release of custom server support to a number of influential streamers which subsequently made it into public release.[22] In one case, "Zombie Mode", all but four players pretend to be zombies, who may sometimes distinguish themselves by removing all clothing and are limited only to collecting melee weapons and consumable items, and must rush to attack the other four players, who are able to collect all gear and attempt to outrun and defeat the zombies.[36] Inspired by this mode, Greene announced plans to introduce an official zombie-based gameplay mode based on this into Battlegrounds.[37]Whereas most of the rest of the team continued to develop the core gameplay and maps, Greene is taking on the zombie mode as a near solo project, only using the assistance of the lead animator to help with the zombie animations.[21] Greene sees Battlegrounds as a platform, and would like to see more custom game types and mods developed by players for it.[11] Greene identified that some mods that he also previously worked on from ARMA 3 may become part of the Battlegrounds platform.[11]

To prevent in-game cheating, the game uses the "BattlEye" anti-cheating software, which had permanently banned over 13 million players in total by October 2018.[38][39]BattlEye indicated that 99% of all cheating software for the game was developed in China.[40

Adam woke up with a killer hangover, missing digit, four strange cars in his parents' driveway and a box of stolen equipment delivered by three of his friends. And somehow all of this is supposed to be a part of a job interview?

There must be more than a few people who have played these games, and loved them. So, in this chapter, I'd like to propose an idea for a light novel. I know, I've made quite a few ideas solely based on video games, but some games just have great potential for fan-fiction. Sure, there isn't much to go on for either series, as both only had two games. (I know there's Infinite, but I'd like to see one based only on the Rapture from Bioshock 1 and 2)

I'd like for this one to be similar to my inFamous idea in that the protagonist is not aware of the plot. Maybe make his parents some of the first people to live in Rapture, and they are wealthy enough to afford gene tonics and Plasmids. I think once the MC has fully grown, the downfall of the city would begin, and to save his parents he gets them back to the surface, while he remains below. Now, I can see a couple problems with that idea. Mainly, why he doesn't go with them: Well, maybe he feels like he'll never be able to adjust to living on the surface. He could be captured and turned into a Big Daddy, it's up to You.

I'd like to see something akin to development when using Plasmids. Some, like Incinerate and Electro Bolt, have upgrades but I'd rather see it be more of a growth than straight up buying an improved version. It'd have a bit more meaning to the story, and would be a good way of gauging the MC's strength. It's more satisfying to see a character train to gain power over having it be given to them.

You could also make some more inventive Plasmids or uses for already existing ones. Like how you  see most ads for Incinerate used as a lighter, you could have bartenders chill drinks using Winter Blast. Get creative, this is a series about genetically-induced superpowers in an underwater city, nothing is completely off-limits.

I can give you an idea for the MC's abilities:Dual Plasmid use. You know how in the cutscenes and in-game you're restricted to using one at a time? Have the protagonist dual-wield. It would be awesome to see him throwing lightning out of one hand and freezing people with the other. Heck, You can make Gene Tonics into a form of cultivation. The sky is the limit with fan-fiction, make it your own.

So, I have these ideas float around my head constantly. I figured since I'm not using them, someone else could. If you read them and feel like writing about it, feel free. I'd rather focus on my own novel, so they are fair game for anybody. I'd love to read them if they are ever used.
