Hi everyone... I'm Nim,the author. First things first, I would love to thank you'll for stopping by. I am a rookie in this writing world. Sorry if you're getting bored but I thought a little self introduction would be good. 
This is my first and foremost writing gig. So please.. please support me and my work. This is actually the best platform for new cookie like me to show my work. I was encouraged by my friends and teachers to write. They were impressed by my essays which I used to write during my school days. They used to tell me that my plots and themes were creative and imaginative but now all that matters is your viewpoints and opinions. My grammar is weak so please bear with it. I don't know why but as I'm writing this I'm feeling very nervous.... I would happily accept any type of reviews and feedback..
Now moving on to the novel,
This novel is not like the sterotypical one. Unlike other novels there are no one night stand,r*p*,ship wreckage,ex and ofcourse the famous stepmother and step siblings. This is mainly about the growth of the charecters both individually and together. There is a lot of passion and affection involved here. There's a hint of spiciness with lots of faceslapping moments and.... heat ;-) ;-).. Well no story is complete without some bitches and we have a few of them here accompanied by a bunch of mad dogs... 
I'll be using a lot of Chinese references even though I'm not a Chinese because why not you know going with the flow. So, please don't get offended. Many things here are going to be imaginative.
I hope this novel can bring some positivity and joy in your lives and ease your tensions. I'll try to update it as much as possible... but I can't guarantee anything because I'm still a university student.
Aaahh I thought I will eventually leave this stupid thoughts of mine till here but the word limit is too much so I'll introduce you'll to the charecters-:

1. Irene Tan - She's our 23 year old female lead. A breathtakingly beautiful intelligent woman with a high IQ of 190 is the heiress of the Tan Corporation a multimillion dollar company related to fashion. She also owns various high class stores and started her own brand named BLISS... She's a mystery as no one has ever seen her.. Though highly pampered and loved by her family, she's very down-to-earth. She enjoys living a normal life. She can be alluring, bewitching, gentle, playful, foxy, cold and terrifying depends on which situation she's dealing with.

2. Zhao Neil - The devilishly handsome CEO of the Zhao Conglomerate,the richest and the most powerful corporation of the country. A genius in technology. He is 25. Those who mess with him will suffer his demonic wrath. Though he keeps to himself, he's a very sensitive and caring being. Will kill anyone who will touch the people whom he love. And yes.... he might be a beast in you know where... ;-)...

"But what? "The team leader reviewed the two essays. True enough, the contents of the two were indeed almost exactly the same, with only some differences in some of the rhetorical writing.
As for what the other teacher was referring to when he said "But… ", the leader also noticed.
The second place essay for the senior high school was not as good as that of the first place of the junior high school. The essay for the junior high school displayed a better style in writing, and succinct phrasing of words. 
The two essays were identical. There must be a problem here.
However, the essay from the senior high school was not better than that from the junior high school, why was this the case? 
Perhaps the two students did not write these essays, and instead plagiarized them from someone. The difference was that the quality of the essay of the junior high school student was better.
The leader removed his spectacles. "Find out immediately the identity of the students who wrote these two essays, and the schools that they are from, then ask their teachers to come. This type of matter has to be dealt with, we must clarify this!"
Teacher Lee, who was resting at home during the weekend, received a call from the school's management asking her to go to the provincial city. 
"Vice Principal, what is happening?" After Teacher Lee prepared the items that were requested by the Vice Principal, when she rushed to the provincial city, she discovered that the Vice Principal had also come.

Upon the sight of the familiar essay, Qiao Zijin's language teacher said immediately, "Leader, this essay was indeed written by my student - Qiao Zijin."
"What, this essay belonged to Qiao Zijin?" Teacher Lee was surprised.
"Why, this teacher knows both the students?" The leader looked at Teacher Lee. "Oh yes, it seems that the two students who wrote the essays bear the same surname - Qiao?" 
"In response to the leader's question, Qiao Zijin was also from my school. She is the biological sister of my student, Qiao Nan. Both are born from the same parents."
"Biological sisters?" The leader was stunned. "Then did the younger sister copied her elder sister?"
However, the younger sister's essay was obviously better than that of the elder sister.

It was placed second now because the elder sister's essay was not as good.
"Impossible," Teacher Lee said with certainty. "Qiao Nan would never copy Zijin's essay."

On the contrary, Qiao Zijin's teacher knew, although Qiao Zijin did not write many essays, the only piece that was brilliant would be the piece that was used to participate in this competition.
Initially, she thought Qiao Zijin was suddenly enlightened, and her words flowed smoothly with her feelings, to create this wonderful masterpiece. 
However, at this juncture, Qiao Zijin's teacher was in doubt.
"Let me take a look."
Qiao Zijin's teacher reluctantly passed to the Leader the two other essays written by Qiao Zijin.
The leader only glanced at it a couple of times before he passed Qiao Nan's two essays to Qiao Zijin's teacher. "You can take a look at these two pieces."
A student's essay, she might have improved or even progressed rapidly. However, it was impossible for certain situations to occur. 


Qiao Nan: Crap! I am your biological daughter, yet I am treated as if I was picked up from the streets. In fact, you treat me worse than that!

Mother Qiao: Qiao Nan, you are not as pretty or smart as your elder sister. You are not as blessed as her. You have no right to study, marry, or to have your happiness!

Qiao Nan: Why am I not allowed to study, marry, or to seek my happiness? I will find a man right now and marry him!

Qiao Nan is dumbstruck upon discovering that the man right beside her is a powerful figure in the quad—the person who has the most promising prospects to be the future Chief.

Qiao Nan stares at the well-built man in front of her. He has firm abs and cold, chilling eyes. She swallows the lump in her throat as she says her greetings, "Good Morning, Chief!"

"Sir is there any thing I can do for you." 118 responded to Tony after stepping down into the garage after Tony called for him.

"Yeah I need you to take me to the avengers Tower I have something I have to do." Tony explained to 118, while preparing his new portable iron man suit.

"Alright sir if you would step back I'll have our ride prepared." The Spartan commanded with his cold tone making Tony unconsciously stepped back and not a second later a giant vehicle materialized in mid air. 

The vehicle was of course a warthog that was stored along with many other things in a separate space within the spartan.

While a powerful ability it still isn't the gift that was given to him.

The gift has already been acquired in the form of a DNA Sample that was randomly collected  durning one of the many encounters Jackson 118 had with the mutants at exaviers institute.

( hmm how about a teaser remember the kid who could clone himself, yep he tried to pick up this big super soldier durning the small interaction the Spartans gift automatically activated giving him a ability similar to the mutant. )

Tony let out a whistle of being impressed although he did want to know how the heck this beast of a vehicle appeared he refrained from asking so soon.

TONY- "So what do you call this 'THE PUMA' it Looks the part at least" Tony thoughtfully expressed with his free hand gently pulling his facial hair to stimulate his mind.

Jackson118 simply stared at him and said "WARTHOG" then he hoped in and the beast roared to life looking over at Tony he magnetically said "GET IN" and with the tone of his voice he managed to get Tony into the beast.

After sitting inside Tony felt small there was plenty of space for his suitcase and more.

After everything was ready the spartan drove off drifting out of the underground garage and once on the road he decided to take a short cut to avoid wasing time with a sharp turn the warthog flew off the road and went off road as it was meant to. Tony was in the passenger seat clutching his suit case for dear life.

Driving through some foliage and mud the spartan expertly used his radar to avoid objects as he drifted from side to side down the mountain.

During a particular nasty bump sending the vehicle soaring through the air Tony let out a yelp from the jerk of motion and unconsciously had to gasp for air at the speed they were moving.

during the whole ordeal our main man 118 was as cool as ice simply controlling the vehicle so as to not flip or crash unintentionally.

Once the tires touched down Tony was surprised that they were already on an asphalt road heading for the avengers tower at the speed limit for once.

"could you drop a hint before you go all Fast and Furious on me damn!" Tony couldn't help but say indignantly.

Once finally at the tower the spartan simply unmaterialized his vehicle and followed Tony who looked at him as if wanting to ask him how instead he turned away and walked to the front doors opening them, welcomed in by a receptionist who was a young beautiful woman who was blushing up a storm seeing Tony until that is she saw Jackson in all his 8 feet 6 glory she felt terrified but she was curious about the man underneath the armor.

Tony seeing the situation decided to walk past the receptionist and to the elevator grumbling under his breath, once in the elevator he turned to realize the spartan waiting outside the elevator.

"What's wrong now come on get in" Tony impatiently said.

Deciding to just walk in 118 was surprised that the metal only groaned a bit before settling down and closing the elevator door.

Tony realizing why he stopped turned and looked him up and down " hey I know you way a Ton but the hulk probably ways more than you and I created this in case the hulk decides to take the elevator On accident so it wouldn't immediately brake."

 Tony explained while pressing the button for their designated floor. 

( would it be a button or would it be a touch screen interface no a voice command feature with Jarvis yesssss.)

 "Jarvis top floor and call the other avengers we have a new member who may or may not be joining the team."

After saying that Jarvis simply closed the elevator doors and responded with a British  accent. 

"Certainly sir right away "

The spartan simply said. "What's that supposed to mean"

Tony turned around And gave his self praising speech "I'm giving you a promotion ya I know I'm just way too nice, anyway I'm sure you'll pay me back later.

 (Tony shamelessly said without thinking about how it was his life that was saved by the spartan in the beginning.)

Alright so I've had this chapter for a while I went over it and fixed a few parts here and there.

Um I'm actually trying to improve my grades they are simply atrocious. 

a friend of mine has recently been kicked from the school because of his grades and I'm trying to avoid that. 

Thankfully a very nice Girl has entered my life and provided me with the support I've needed to continue with my education and not just enlist in the military like several other friends of mine.

Bottom line is that my creative Juices have been harnessed and drained and been put to use making essays for my english class and lab reports for my college Bio class.

I'm on a slippery slope, I either stay on the ball and pass or I lose way more than just a high school degree. 

I'm sorry I wont abandon my works it's just that currently they are all on Hiatus.

Lol what a weird word any way I'll keep trying to introduce other works so that hopefully I can inspire some one else to write.

Initially, when I began writing this, I just wanted something to read and I found nothing of interest on webnovel, so I thought why don't I write my own story. Ascending the Heaven's was the first story I have ever written. With everything else, I have ever written being either lab reports or essays. At the beginning of writing, it was fun, but after a while, it got tedious to write, and I honestly started hated writing it. Between managing school, lab works this got pushed to the side, and I'm genuinely sorry that my posting schedule has been erratic and sh*t. I never realized how much work went into writing these stories, and I underestimated the amount of dedication and work needed. I don't want to keep forcing my self to write a story I've lost interest in, which has resulted in my work's decreasing quality.

"What is love?"  I let out a loud groan and pulled at my long hair, a habit that I've picked up.  
I had been sitting on my bed for hours, trying to get the slightest idea for my essay.  In the past, I would depend on spurts of inspiration when writing essays.  However, now that I was in a higher level English class, I couldn't depend on my last minute ideas to help me pass. 
Exhausted, I picked up my phone and played my favorite playlist on Spotify.  As I laid on my bed, I closed my eyes and listened to the lyrics.
'Cause there'll be no sunlight, if I lose you, baby
I mouthed along with the words, as if they were coming out of my own mouth.  A love for Bruno Mars, something that Tesha and I had in common.  A wave passed over me as my eyes widened.
"Oh shit!"  I sat up and woke my chromebook.  I had found my definition of love.

"Hello, students," Mr. Phillips said in his usual monotone voice.  "Have you all completed your essays?"  His eyes rested on two girls in the corner of the classroom.  I rolled my eyes as they giggled and shook their heads.  I had no idea how they could never do their home and yet still be allowed to attend a college level English class.
"Well that's unfortunate, girls, because it's due today," Mr. Phillips commented with a disappointed look.  "As usual, you will all give a brief explanation on your essays at the front of the classroom.  I suggest that you volunteer on your own, for I will grade you slightly less... critically."  He glanced around the classroom but no one moved.  "Don't all come up at once, people."
I took a deep breath before I stood up.  "I'll go."
"Sure," he stood and headed to an empty seat at the back of the room.  I grabbed my paper and approached the lectern podium at the front of the classroom.
"Um," I started nervously.  I glanced at Tesha for reassurance but her eyes were concentrated on her phone.  I took another deep breath then began my presentation.
"The song I chose to analyze was 'It'll Rain' by Bruno Mars.  The song is about a man explaining to his lover that his life would be pointless and agonizing if she left him.  He also includes that he may not seem like the perfect person and he has many flaws, but he is willing to do whatever it takes to make her happy.  I can relate to this song because I've always wanted to be loved like this man loves his girlfriend.  To me, loving someone is making them your number one in your life, the most important person."  
I paused for a second to look at my classmates but, like always, no one paid attention... except Mr. Phillips.  He nodded and I continued on.
"I always thought that romance and love was the ultimate goal in life but I also noticed now that these ideas are not always unrealistic and are definitely not for everyone.  However, there are many forms of love.  There is love between parents and children, siblings, and even friends.  So, I guess I don't need a boyfriend to make me his number one."  I smiled and returned to my seat.
"Thank you, Miss Kana.  Who's next?"
I frowned at Tesha who seemed to be completely checked out of reality, a slight smile at the corner of her lips.
"How was it," I whispered to her.  Her attention snapped back and she glanced up, her smile disappearing.
"It was good."
I frowned at her deeper.  "You weren't even listening-" I stopped mid-sentence to focus on the next presenter.  Tesha looked at me with concerned eyes before directing her attention to the speaker.
I should have taken that as a sign already...

April is a paranoid pessimist.  Mandon is her sneaky little brother.  Tesha was her best friend.  "Read the story of how my best friend became the worst person in the world."

They had all drank to slight inebriation, Pei Zi Yun clinked his glass with High Scholar Fu and they had another cup of wine. Chen Jin Chun and Yu Mao Guang knew Pei Zi Yun’s talents and thus weren’t silly enough to challenge him to a poem competition they knew they would lose.

At that precise moment, Shen Zhi walked up to Pei Zi Yun’s table, with two people escorting him. He then placed a flask of wine and some writing materials on the table. 

Shen Zhi then poured out a cup of wine for Pei Zi Yun and placed it on the table. He then smiled and said, "I’ve long heard of the talents and skills possessed by Top Scorer Pei. And today we chanced upon each other. If I may be so bold to request a poem by Top Scorer Pei, so that I can sample and enjoy the quality that everyone else had been raving about.”

Pei Zi Yun was with High Scorer Fu, Chen Jin Chun and Yu Mao Guang. They had been eating, drinking and discussing several essays. When he had been invited to recite a poem by Shen Zhi, the rest of them didn’t find it odd whatsoever. Pei Zi Yun was indeed extremely talented, and was the Top Scorer of the past examination as well. Thus, it was not strange that he would attract attention from the literary world. Over the past few days, the essays of the new batch of High Scholars had just been released. The quality of those essays were extraordinary. 

When the essays’ compilation was released, there were still some people who cast doubts about the quality of this batch of High Scholars. However, those people were unable to speak out openly about their opinions. This was because they lacked the necessary credentials and were only critical for the sake of being critical. 

Pei Zi Yun raised his head and looked up to see Wei Ang standing beside Shen Zhi. When their gazes met, Wei Ang gave him a wink, before prompting him. Only then did Pei Zi Yun react. It was clear that Wei Ang was giving his junior brother the opportunity to make a name for himself.


This was exactly what Pei Zi Yun wanted. When Pei Zi Yun realized this, he stood up and laughed, "Reciting poems is a small matter. What’s unexpected is that Mister Shen would invite me to recite a poem, but come empty handed itself. If Mr Shen were to pour me three cups of wine, I would compose and recite a poem, what do you think?”

Shen Zhi was a renowned literary student himself. Pei Zi Yun was just a small time High Scholar who had just recently rose to fame. For him to make such a demand of Shen Zhi was slightly overboard. It was clear that the mood within the hall was tense. Even Wei Ang who was standing beside Shen Zhi was somewhat astounded.

After Pei Zi Yun had been requested to compose a poem, he formed a plan in his mind. In order to become renowned, the most important thing was to be talented. The next most important thing was to have a platform or venue to express his talents. Since Pei Zi Yun had no intentions to become a Grand Scholar, he wasn’t afraid of being too popular. At this point, he had no need to be modest, ‘Mr Shen too is a renowned literary scholar as well. If he were to pour wine for me, that would indicate that I was superior to him. As long as I am able to compose a poem that would win the hearts of everyone here, my name would be broadcasted, and the first step of my plan would be accomplished.’

The entire hall had turned silent. The people who knew Pei Zi Yun, High Scholar Fu, Chen Jun Chun and Yu Guang Mao were all extremely anxious. They knew that if he could compose a good poem, his good reputation would spread like wildfire. However, if he could not live up to the hype, his reputation would turn into one of a selfish, ignorant brat. The difference between the outcomes were akin to the difference between heaven and earth. Everyone around him was breaking out in cold sweat.

Although Shen Zhi was just an Elementary Scholar, he had followed Ji Bei Hou for a long time. With a stroke of his pen, generals would flock towards him and obey his orders. Who would dare to look at him as just a mere Elementary Scholar?

Having not seen anything like this in a long time, Shen Zhi eyed Pei Zi Yun for an extended period before breaking out into a smile, "It’s only pouring wine, nothing difficult about that. Men! Bring me the wine and some cups.”

A servant appeared immediately and brought the flask of wine over. Shen Zhi took over the flask and retrieved three cups before pouring them. He then placed the three cups on a tray, and presented the tray to Pei Zi Yun.

High Scholar Li, Chen Jin Chun and Yu Mao Guang were all worried. This was the make or break point for Pei Zi Yun. If he were able to compose a good poem, his reputation would soar to the heavens. However, if he could not deliver, he would be humiliated.

Pei Zi Yun reached over and took the cups of wine. He drained the three cups immediately, and felt a certain heat radiate through his entire body. He then exclaimed, "This is some good wine. Bring me a quill.”

A servant behind Shen Zhi presented some pen and paper. Pei Zi Yun chose an empty table and placed the materials on them. Wei Ang then took the ink and said, "Brother Pei, it looks like you’re going to compose a poem that is brilliant through the course of time. Let me do the honor of preparing your ink.”


Wei Ang then retrieved the ink and started preparing it. When he was done, he placed the readied ink on the table before walking away. He then glanced at Pei Zi Yun, who had started writing. Wei Ang then read the first strokes of the poem, which was titled, <Let’s Drink Up>.

“Do you not see, the currents of the Yellow River flowing endlessly, pouring into the ocean, without ever turning back.”

“Do you not see, our elders grieving while the reflection on the mirror showed an entire head of white hair. That was once ebony, now white as snow in their twilight years.”

“One’s life on Earth has to be filled with happiness and enjoyment, instead of bemoaning an empty goblet of wine while facing the moon.” 


There was a Yellow River in this world as well, and it was a big and well known river. Pei Zi Yun copied this poem wholesale from a famous poet, Li Bai, who had yet to be born during this time. This poem rocked the entire world when it was being composed and was titled, <Let’s Drink Up>.

For every sentence that Pei Zi Yun wrote, Wei Ang read it out loud for everyone to hear. Just after three lines, the expressions of everyone was that of shock. There were a hundred people all around, and everyone was listening to Wei Ang read the poem. There was not a sound that could be heard in between the pauses.

“As a host, why should I exempt myself by claiming I’m poor, as I would readily buy however much is required for us to drink till our heart’s’ content.”

“I have with me five horses, and a coat worth a thousand gold taels. Take this and exchange them for praises of good wine, to relieve ourselves of the burdens we might face tonight.”

When the last phrase had been read out, the entire hall was deadly silent. Immediately after, everyone exclaimed in shock before cheers erupted. Wei Ang, Shen Zhi, High Scholar Fu, Chen Jin Chun and Yu Guang Mao were all speechless and looked at Pei Zi Yun.

Shen Zhi poured another cups of wine, before sighing, "When Top Scorer Pei asked me to pour him three cups of wine, I had initially thought he was playing a joke. Only today I realized that I have met a literary genius. Your talents are feared by the immortals, and cannot be measured by the water in the oceans.”

“I shall punish myself, by drinking an additional three cups.” He then drained the three cups before him and continued, "I’ve read your essays, and you are indeed spectacular. It’s a shame you’ve joined a Dao sect. Why don’t you return to the secular world, you will rise up in ranks rapidly.”

Pei Zi Yun then replied, "Life is short. The reason I’ve became a High Scholar was to appease my family. Now that my family is doing well, I’ve decided to travel the four seas and see every corner of the earth myself and live a nomadic lifestyle.”


When Shen Zhi heard this, his eyes glimmered. From afar, he saw Pei Zi Yun returning the toasts of people around him and sighed deeply. He turned around and muttered under his breath, "What a shame.”

Fu Mansion 

Ever since the establishment of the dynasty, curfews were no longer implemented. Although the streets were quiet, and most of the lanterns hanging at each house had been extinguished, there were still some big houses with their lights on. When the banquet was concluded, everyone started making their way home. In their drunken state, many people were still reciting the poem Pei Zi Yun composed.

When High Scholar Fu reached home, the lanterns before his entrance were still lit. Seeing the ox-cart approaching, several servants rushed forward to welcome them, "Old master is back?”

“Quick, help young master Pei in, and get him some alcohol-dispelling soup.”

Pei Zi Yun had composed a poem that shocked the entire hall. Regardless of whether the toasts to him were out of respect or envy, they came in numbers. Although he had managed to cultivate his inner strength, he was still heavily intoxicated.

High Scholar Fu however was still extremely alert and aware as he dished out orders. 

High Scholar Fu then walked to the next block and saw that Yu Yun Jun was in a room, as the candles were lit in there. He sighed and pushed open the doors to the room.

Yu Yun Jun was writing an essay, and the little girl Chu Xia was sprawled on the bed, fast asleep. Hearing the door creak open, Yu Yun Jun looked up and smiled, "Oh, my brother-in-law is back.”


“Yun Jun, take a look at this poem.” High Scholar Fu then handed her the paper. Yu Yun Jun was somewhat surprised. All these years of living in Fu Mansion, never once did her brother-in-law drop in on her after a long night out. This time however, he had entered her room and spoken to her. She then accepted the poem. Under the light, she read it.

“This is a good poem!” She turned around, as her eyes gleamed, "Who wrote this poem?”


“It was written by your good disciple today. You weren’t there to see it for yourself, but hundreds of High Scholars and renowned characters were all astounded by the quality of his work. They were awed by him.”

“Wei Ang even got Ji Bei Hou to grant him a favor, all for your good disciple.”

“This was extremely unconventional. However, nobody there dared to disapprove. Even Shen Zhi could not disagree, not with a piece like this.” High Scholar Li then exhaled, "This disciple of yours is a genius, and not like any other man. It’s no wonder you would abruptly accept him as your disciple.”

Hearing the words spoken by High Scholar Fu, Yu Yun Jun’s hands trembled. 

“That person!” His words were true, and she understood it. Out of the blue, a youth appeared before her eyes. The image of him was clear, and then it became blur. He had an innocent playmate before him, who eventually became his childhood sweetheart. They had plans to be married, but alas, were fated to meet but not fated to be together.

Yu Yun Jun could neither laugh or cry. She then examined the poem once more. As she read the poem, tears rolled down her cheeks. 

“Ai, such a beautiful piece of work.” High Scholar Fu gazed at the lights and said softly.


Yu Yun Jun was speechless. Originally, her job was to observe and lookout for any potential candidates to join the sect. Then, she was to report her findings back and the other sect elders would then recruit the person she recommended. In the end, she decided to take Pei Zi Yun under herself. She nodded her head at her brother-in-law, and understood everything.

“Seeing this person, reminded me of that year. Although they look completely different, his demeanor and aura was exactly the same.”

“So, this is how I truly feel?”

Hou Mansion

It was late in the night and the ember of the lone candle was dancing and flickering. The samurai warrior was kneeling before Shen Zhi. Shen Zi was no longer excited as he was earlier. He was writing a letter and sealed it up with wax when he was done.

He then handed the letter to the samurai warrior, "Follow this address and deliver the letter. Tell them to follow the instructions carefully.”

The lights in the room weren’t very bright and the lone candle was flickering, causing the shadows cast to dance as well.

“Hai, don’t worry Mr Shen.” Once the samurai gave his assurance, he kowtowed once, before standing up and leaving, his expression could not be seen at all due to the poor lighting.

The three other samurais behind him followed as they left through the backdoor of Hou Mansion. four horses had already been prepared as the three samurais followed the main warrior, disappearing under the cloak of darkness.

Breakwaters

The wind was blowing strongly at night, bringing with it the musky smell of sea. The currents were unrelenting as they bashed onto the rocks of the breakwater. A small boat had stopped near the coast and several samurais were standing atop the boat. A leader stood in front of them, as several ronins stood beside him. They all carried swords on them, looking alertly for any signs of suspicious activities. 
(TN : Ronins were mercenary Samurais)

The sound of horse hooves shattered the silence of the nights and the few ronins drew their swords. Under the fire of a torch, a lead samurai was leading three others on horseback as they raced towards the boats.

Seeing these samurais approaching, the samurais on the boat then sheathed their swords before alighting from the boat.

Seeing them alight, the samurais didn’t utter a single word. He retrieved the letter and handed it over, "This is the task Mr Shen would like you to accomplish. I hope you would complete it as soon as possible.”

The warriors from the boat took the letter and read it under the fire. When he had finished reading, he burnt the letter by placing it above the torch. He then turned around and said, "Hai. tell Mister Shen that he has my guarantee. I will handle this matter.”

“Hai, please do.” The samurais bowed to each other. 

The samurais from the boat didn’t speak much as well. They boarded the boat, and with a wave of a hand, the boat started gliding with the wind, the wind was still roaring in the night.


Earth Immortals are cultivated from a blessed land,
Heaven Immortals move to and fro from the divine mountains.
I have a stalk of plum blossom, and I shall maraud the Will of the Heavens with it!

Chapter 3. Essay competition (1)

"We are going to be have a essay competition in our school next week."

When Shiki sensei announced that, the students started murmuring among themselves.

"I haven't wrote a essay for years."

"I wonder if there would be some sort of prize."

"I hope it isn't mandatory to enter. I really suck at essays."

"Can't we have a video game competition or something?"

As the students were murmuring, Shiki sensei sighed and said.

"Listen to the whole announcement, first. The contest will be mandatory for all and there would be one winner for every class and the winner for every class will compete against each other for the prize money."

"I wonder how much is the prize money?"

"It's going to be a hassle if you want to win."

"Yeah, the winner would be probably from a literature club or a book club."

"Do those kind of clubs even exist?"

"Silent!!"

With Shiki sensei shout, the students again fell into a silence. Shiki sensei again sighed heavily and said.

"I am not finished yet. The competition will be held on Friday next week and there would be no classes that day. So, you could leave after submitting your essay."

With that the students all burst into excitement. They were all troubled by the pressure of exams and hearing that, they can leave early flushed them with excitement. 

There were many students who were already making plans like going to karaoke or a movie. The essay competition had given them a opportunity to relax for a bit.

As Ren was watching the class filled with excitement, Kei tapped him on the shoulder.

"Hey, Ren what do you think about that?"

"About what?"

"Of course, the essay competition. Do you also want to finish early and hang out like them?"

Kei said as he pointed towards the group of kids happily making plans. 

"I don't know. What about you?"

"I will probably write it till the end."

"Huh, you aren't the type to write till the end. Instead of writing, you will probably read a light novel or something."

Ren said as he stared at Kei confusingly. He knew that Kei wasn't the type to take things seriously. The only things he take seriously are light novels, mangas and anime.

"Well, I thought I will give writing a chance."

"You. Writing?"

"Yeah, it's seems fun. I thought I will take something seriously for once."

"You wanted to take something seriously and you choosed writing."

"Yeah."

Ren didn't knew what to think of it. Kei was taking interest in writing suddenly. He was confused by this but he didn't try to ask him the reason behind this. Ren knew that everyone has their own secrets.

"You are acting weirdly these days."

When Ren heard Kei's words, he was somewhat startled. The last thing he want was anyone finding about his identity.

"....You think so?"

Kei nodded his head at Ren's words and said.

"Yeah, you have been slightly weird these days. It's like you got somewhat mature suddenly."

"Maybe, it's just your imagination."

Kei shook his head at Ren's words and said.

"No, it isn't my imagination. You are suddenly taking interest in books. Previously, you only read some light novels but now, I see you reading those literature books everytime. You even had a smiling expression reading those."

"I have just taken a sudden interest in books."

"I think it's more than just a sudden interest. Are you thinking of going to a literary college or something."

"Literary college?"

Hearing the word literary college, Ren suddenly thought of the time when he used to study in the literary college.

It was also the time when his first book was released. He had suddenly gotten famous in the campus and everyone had started recognising him.

Professors had started giving him attention and they always looked at him with smiles. He had also gotten popular among the girls.

His popularity was so high that the campus queen had confessed to him and they had started dating. Of course, the relationship between them didn't last long and they broke up after a year but it was a time of his life that Ren can't forget.

It was the start of his fame and his destruction. How could he forget about that.

"Ren, Ren, are you even listening to me?"

"Ha, sorry, I was just thinking about something."

Ren quickly broke out of his stupor when he heard Kei's voice.

"Do you want to visit the bookstore later? I wanted to buy a book on essays."

"Ah, sure, I wanted to buy some books too."

Ren answered with a smile on his face. He don't know why but he was now looking forward to the essay competition.

* * *

In the staff room of teachers, Shiki sensei sighed as he soon as he sat down in his seat.

"Are you worried about something? Shiki sensei."

Shiki sensei turned his head towards the voice and noticed that the one who asked the question was Hinata sensei who was a chemistry teacher.

"It's nothing. I am just worried about that kids nowadays are more interested in video games than books."

"Hahaha, Isn't that obvious. Teenagers nowadays are more interested in games and movies than books."

Hinata sensei said with a laugh. She was a young female teacher who was still in her 20s. So, she could better understand the students mentality.

"Is it about the essay competition?"

Another teacher asked and Shiki sensei just nodded at that.

"Times are really degrading. When I announced in my class that there will be a essay competition, all the students were just happy about the fact that there would be no classes. No one seems to care about the competition."

This time it was Sato sensei who spoke. He was the oldest teacher in the school and was nearing his 50s. 

"It was the same in my class."

"Me too. They really don't care about the essay competition."

"They are just happy that they will be able to leave school early."

Hearing the conversation several teachers shared their grievances and sighed. They were upset that students were more interested in leaving school early than the essay competition.

"Nakai sensei must be feeling bad."

Hinata sensei said as she looked at Nakai sensei who was silently reading a book in the corner.

Hearing her words, all the teachers looked at Nakai sensei but he didn't say anything and just continued to read his book.

For him reading a book was more interesting than a conversation.

"Yeah, Nakai sensei, you even pushed for the essay competition. Aren't you feeling bad that students aren't interested in it?"

A teacher asked him but Nakai sensei still didn't answered. He was still focusing on his book.

All the teachers just sighed seeing his behaviour. They all know that Nakai sensei wasn't the talkative type.

He was the literature teacher and it's been five years since he had started teaching in this school and his behaviour and attitude hadn't changed at all.

Although his attitude had pissed some of the teachers but they do not do anything as he teaches well and do his work diligently. It was just that he was more interested in reading books.

After sometime, Nakai sensei finally put down his book and smiled while looking out of the window.

"I wish there can be someone who can surprise me in this competition."

He muttered under his breath and continued to smile while looking outside the window.

Fame, wealth, prestige, genius, destruction, despair, loss and failure.

Those are the eight words which describes Ren's life completely.

He was hailed as a genius but his arrogance led him to despair. From a genius, he became a failure.

He was just struggling with his life when fate gave him a second chance.

Now, what will he do after he found himself waking up in another world.

So, as you are well aware, I haven't been able to upload anything as of late. While it was mostly because of trying to get into colleges and dealing with my overzealous schedule of 6 APs and a few internships, I have to attribute most of my lack of motivation to get back to this story due to the fact that I don't like how this book turned out.

If you couldn't tell, about halfway through, school picked up and I was rushing to complete chapters and began producing some absolutely horrendous chapters. Being my first experience writing, I was in over my head. I assumed that I could just wing it and was proven quickly wrong. Another reason is the writing style. After writing college essays 10 hours a day, 8 days a week, my writing style has changed dramatically. I feel like it is much better than the quality I wrote in the book and honestly, I am disappointed with it. Rereading the book and trying to get back into it, I realized how unfocused it was, how it drifted and meandered along. Being me, I can not continue the book without stabbing myself multiple times with shame.

This is not the end, however. I still love writing stories and I want to continue telling the story of Xavier, Persephone, Mordred, and the Hunter. The reason for this announcement is that I will be rewriting the book completely. Working with some of my friends, we feel that we can make a much better story line and develop the characters a lot better. I also believe that my new writing style will make the story more vivid and enjoyable. We are trying to be better prepared, and have a concrete plan to make sure the quality is maintained. So, look forward to reading the rewriting, currently we are working on the storyboarding the first ten chapters and the prologue is close to completion. If all things go well and how I have given up on school (senoritis sucks), we should be releasing the new version within a month or so (making a buffer and ARTWORK).

There is more good news. We have also planned a new story that is completely different from this one. Due to my friend group (mostly me)'s fascination with Warhammer 40k, we are starting a story set in that universe. Since this was decided yesterday, details are hazy, but I can guarantee that it will be awesome.

This somewhat dark and edgy story is based on my hectic D&D campaign I played. This a grim dark fantasy story that blends a plot-twisting drama with intense action. I hope that you enjoy this story. Hopefully, this will turn into a trilogy.
