Emica Kana is 18 years old. She has always loved writing stories., They were her escape from reality. She always wished that a man would come and save her like they always do in the stories.
Well, she got her wish.
Emica entered a small writing school that was near a river. Her friend had joined her. But, the teacher had an odd vibe around him. Emica became a little scared of him. She especially became scared when the teacher started to pay more attention to her. One day, when she runs from him, she falls into a world of adventure, risk, and abnormalities. 
But, her teacher is what scares her more than this new world. What secrets and schemes did he use to get her here?

She found a hidden door while she was working in the storage room.
Out of curiosity, she opened the door and entered the room.

Her name was still Bae Seoyeon.
She was no longer a staff in the Department of Administration & General Affairs, and instead of an architect firm, the company was a marketing and advertising agency.
Someone told her that Kim Seokjin wasn’t a member of BTS – he was the Creative Director of RJ Creative Agency and also, her boyfriend.
Then, where is BTS? Where is HER BTS? She didn’t only want Jin in her life, she wants all the 7 members and their music.
This world wasn’t the one she lived in for the past twenty-four years. 

Curiosity didn’t only kill the cat – they killed Bae Seoyeon too.

"Hmm.. let's just ignore all the people then. " 

They sat there talking and teasing each other for some more time before heading to their respective homes. 


ONE YEAR LATER

Shradha walked into  Computer Science department. She had to meet the dean of the department regarding her project. After discussing for 45 minutes about the project, the dean wanted to speak to her regarding future plans and higher studies. He gave examples of a few seniors who were currently pursuing masters abroad and urged Shradha to think about masters. He seemed to think that with her grades, projects and coding experience all the good universities were within reach. He had said it would increase her value in the job market. Shradha had promised to research further about scholarships and other things for his sake. 

"At home, dad wants to increase my value in the wedding market; here the dean wants to increase my value in the job market. Why are people behind increasing my value !?" Shradha murmured jokingly. She walked to her scooty thinking Nishant would have enjoyed that dialogue. 

Within one year, a lot of things had changed, not just for Shradha and Nishant, but for others as well.  Prithvi and Rohan were integral part of their life and 4 of them hung out a lot at Rohan's apartment. Technically it was a shared place between  Prithvi and Rohan but  Prithvi paid only a small part of the rent while all other expenses were taken care by Rohan. They knew very well how to balance each others family and financial situation. Rohan was from a wealthy family in Delhi while  Prithvi was from a lower middle class family in Bengaluru.  Prithvi stayed in hostel as his home was far from college and daily commute was tiresome, but he visited home regularly. Rohan accompanied him most of time as  Prithvi's parents knew that he was homesick. So they showered Rohan with love and care. Rohan's family was grateful to know that someone was taking care of their precious son well. So they had never objected Rohan even when he spent a lot of money for  Prithvi. Both families were happy about their friendship.

Nishant had been spending a major part of his day in their apartment. He thought that their apartment was the perfect place for him to work on his writing. He would go back home mostly for eating and speaking in the night. Sheela had been really unhappy about this development, but there was nothing she could do. Her son did not respond to her emotional blackmails like earlier. In a way he had grown immune to her words. He would just smile and get on with his work. Nishant always tried his best not to be rude to Sheela or fight with her. He would just listen to her without actually listening to her and never argued back. This was the tactic his father had taught him secretly and this trick saved Nishant from stress. Then again, he hardly spent time at home. Writing had become one of the important part of Nishant and somehow Rohan's bachelor pad was the perfect place for him to be creative and write. Nishant had also been taking more responsibilities at lit club and he had been the chief editor of the college magazine for the last few months.

‘Agar Tum Saath Ho’ means ‘If you are with me’ in Hindi. These simple words could explain how shradha felt about Nishant. He was her sole source of energy; He was the only person who could sense her emotional distress and calm her down easily. He was her best friend, her guide, and also whoever she wanted him to be. To Nishant, Shradha was like a breath of fresh air. She always pushed him beyond his comfort level and helped him rediscover himself. She was his strength and also his weakness. 

Shradha was the girl who was considered as ‘bad influence’, while Nishant was the ‘good guy’, who was role model to many students and even parents. They had nothing in common except for the fact that both of them were lonely and maybe a little broken. 

Nishant and Shradha came together by coincidence. Their relationship started with simple friendship, which slowly grew into strong bond. He could show his silliness only in front of her while she could afford to show her real self only to him. Despite constant opposition from their family, Shradha and Nishant had continued to be ‘best friends’ and nothing else. 
They were each others ‘first’ in many things and even when the whole world could see how they were already in relationship, Nishant and Shradha could not see the obvious.
When they finally realized they have been in love the whole time, all it took was changing the status on social media.

Thinking about her old teacher, He Lixue was feeling rather emotional. Although he was the one who taught her hacking, her style was unique to her, and no one else than she knew how to create these firewalls and other programs that she specialized in.

Even her teacher had never asked for her to teach him, and she could not help but feel grateful. Back then, these codes were what made it possible for her to stay alive, but things were different now. She did not mind teaching it to others, as she was no longer the orphan He Lixue.

Although she was the He Lixue who had been killed overseas, she was also the He Lixue who had been in a coma for three years. 

She had all her memories, and she could remember everything that she had experienced. Everything was so vivid that she knew that she had experienced it. Hence it had changed her personality slightly, and she had become a completely third person — a merge between the two He Lixues. 

Manager Mo, and the others in the department, heard that He Lixue said that she would teach them how to write the code for this firewall, and they were all extremely excited, but when they looked at He Lixue, they saw that she was deep in thought, her brows furrowed, and a hand caressing her chin.

It took her a few moments to realize that they were all looking at her, and she could not help but smile sweetly. "Sorry, I was suddenly thinking about some things," she said with a sweet grin on her face, and the others quickly waved their hands, assuring her that it was completely fine. 

Even if she wanted to cause a fuss, they would let her, because she was able to do something so amazing as this!

And as such, the entire day was spent with He Lixue teaching the differences in their firewalls. She was patient and explained everything in detail, no matter how many times she was asked. 

She would demonstrate and help them from time to time, test their progress, and she quickly realized that the people within the IT Security Department of the Fenghuang Group were immensely skilled. 

Even though Yang Shirou disliked He Lixue, as soon as she saw what they were doing, she gritted her teeth and did everything in her power to learn as quickly as possible. She wanted to get redemption for her embarrassing display the day before.

Seeing her, this serious, He Lixue felt like chuckling. Although Yang Shirou was annoying, she was slightly cute. Her stubbornness was different from most women that He Lixue had encountered before, and seeing that she had no intention of causing problems, He Lixue also taught her a few tricks and tips.

"Don't be too smug," Yang Shirou said to He Lixue, completely ignoring her usual gentle image. She had already destroyed her image as a white lotus, so she might as well be herself at work in the future.

"Although you are better than me now, I am going to learn everything from you, and overtake you in a matter of months!" 

Hearing her words, He Lixue could not help but laugh, and she shook her head. "Then I wish you good luck," she said enigmatically. 

The others who had been listening had been worried that He Lixue would be insulted, but she was way more mature than others her age, and it seemed that she did not at all put Yang Shirou in her eyes.

After teaching them all the methods she had used at the firewall made in the challenge, they were all ecstatic. It felt as if a lot of things became clearer, and problems that had plagued them previously showed signs of a breakthrough. They had gained much from this and seemed to think outside the box for once. 

Although computers were rather rigid with how to create things, there was still space for some creativity. Knowing that they could be creative, all of them began writing their own codes, very different from their usual programs.

Everyone was within the conference room instead of at their individual offices. The reason was that they wanted to discuss with one another, test each other's code, and help each other as a team. 

Everyone was buried in creating programs, and He Lixue was no different. 

Not long ago, she had asked Lu Nanfeng to help her enter the Imperial University so that she could study Computer Science, but she had suddenly taken on a job. 

She knew that when she went to university, she would have to resign, so she wanted to give him a big gift for helping her up until now. She would make the Fenghuang Group's computers into an impregnable fortress. She would ensure that even the best hackers in the world had no chance of launching an attack on this place.

To do this, she had to create a unique security system. She had made it once before and gifted it to her teacher. She did not know exactly what her teacher did as a living, but she knew that it was dangerous and that if someone got hold of information about him, he might be in danger.

Hence she had spent three years creating the security system that he used. Now she had found the second person she wished to help whole heartedly.

Although she had made the program once before, she was not willing to gift Lu Nanfeng a copy, so instead, she continued to develop and change a few things with the security program. As time went by, she was more and more engrossed in writing the code needed for the program.

Release Schedule: 1 chapter a day at random times 

One was the apple in the eye of her parents; the other was an orphan. One was rich and spoiled, the other struggled to survive. 

Both were named He Lixue, and while one encountered a traffic accident that made her lay in a coma for three years, the other was stabbed in her back and died a miserable death alone. 

The orphan woke up in the body of the princess, her mind containing the memories of the body. 

Having gained a second lease on life, He Lixue fought back against the world with relentless fierceness, and she was never giving up. 

Want to make her look bad? Don't worry, even if she had to go down, she would take all her enemies down with her! She swore that she would never let the ones who had caused the accident go free. 

Lu Nanfeng, the most eligible bachelor in the capital, met He Lixue at the sanatorium. 

Here he felt as if he had picked up a small pet, and decided to take care of her. She was innocent, adorable and pitiful, unfortunately his feelings slowly changed from normal adoration to love. 

He was stubborn and used to having things his way, so he brought her home, but who would have guessed that the woman would be unmoved, even when he used his own body to seduce her.

Pieces of crumpled up paper littered the floor. A small apartment measuring less than 400 sq feet, the only place he could call home. Sitting at his desk Alvin scrapped yet another idea from the thick notebook that he had grown used to writing in.
He couldn't understand why it was so hard to come up with just one good idea, maybe he just wasn't cut out for this industry. The thought was a bit humbling as he heaved out a big sigh.
He didn't know what had gotten into him or why he had decided to become a writer. Growing up reading and diving deep into novels had become a bit of a habit one that had stuck with him since even after he graduated. The only people who knew what he did for a living could be counted on one hand.
In fact no one knew that he wanted to become a writer not until that day he somehow submitted a short story for a competition and it got listed. Though he didn't get first place the memory of him taking the stage to take a photograph still replayed vividly in his mind.
He had won a special prize for most creative interpretation. The competition was one where writers had to create a fictional piece of work based on a theme. Staring at his front he could still see the plastic award he received that year, more than two years ago.
Since graduating he had slowly joined the workforce just like everybody else. While his job was nothing glamorous it still could be said to be a good job. Working as a clerk in a large department store his salary was stable and the hours were fixed just what he needed for his first job. It was the reason he was able to move out of his house that he shared with his brother and parents.
Everyone was happy especially his brother who was more than eager for him to move out quicker so he could change his room. Looking at the clock Alvin stared as the hands on its face which showed it was almost eight at night. His stomach made a funny noise reminding him that he hadn't eaten yet. He'd been too caught up trying to write down the ideas in his head after work that he had already forgotten.
Turning around he threw his clothes off his body as he bodly walked away naked to the bathroom. There was no one at home and really this was the only reason a guy would want to move out. Sometimes they just liked the freedom of being in the wild just like their ancestors in the past that had survived the cold and the heat hunting wearing only a slip of cloth.
The sound of water soon sounded in the background as Alvin opened the shower. The small bathroom did not have room for a bath, not that he needed one. Running the hot water over his body his mind continued to replay the scene in his mind, the one he had been writing about.
What was more exciting than the sound of wolves rustling in woods as they chased a person on their last breath. Writing that part had been fun, only halfway he had already lost the direction he had been planning to put onto paper. Did he want the character to die or just luckily escape?
A disgruntled mumbling emitted from the small bathroom among the steam that rose into the air. It was not long after that that Alvin came out with a towel draped over his body before putting the kettle to boil in the open kitchen of his apartment.
Nothing could beat the taste of a packet of noodles on an empty stomach at least not the way he made it. Some chopped spring onions and two poached eggs was everything he needed to finish the simple but tasty meal.
Finishing putting his clothes on, the slumped figure of a young man sitting in front of a table could be seen. The constant sounds of slurping making anyone listening hungry, especially the sight of the yellow liquid that spread over the clean broth noodles mixed with the pungent smell of spring onions. Absolutely delicious!
Finishing his meal Alvin walked back to the lonely desk where he would spend most of his time 'working'. As an aspiring writer he knew that practise was the only way he could survive the cruel road to the top. Hours passed as a slumped body finally fell asleep on the table, water quietly pooling out of his mouth as his saliva created a small water bed.
Unfortunately that night was the last night that Alvin would ever spend on Earth. Outside the room the sky continued to rain bringing a downpour that lasted more than a few hours. Unusual but nothing that drew more than a brief mention on the news. However it was not an ordinary night, all over the world many strange things happened including hail in the desert.
Overnight thousands and thousands of people continued their lives only to realise too late that they would never wake up again. Nobody knew the reason for it and scientists after who studied the phenomenon could only conclude that only a small portion of the human population had been affected their state no different than a person in a coma. However this was far from the truth, sometimes could not be explained through science after all.
A blinding light seemed to approach him as Alvin struggled to open his eyes, his head still stuck in the clouds as he wondered if he had forgotten to turn off the lights again in his room. Still a dawning realisation soon displaced this thought as he found himself facing a thing he could never have expected.
A long tentacle of light that was see through reached out to wrap his body as it slowly brought him closer and closer to the middle of the room where a strange thing was happening. Glancing around him he could see he was not the only person in the room in fact hundreds if not thousands of tenctacles like the one that wrapped around him struggled with bodies like him. 
It was only now that he could hear the muffled voices of those around him as they tried to escape the same scene. His mind remained blank and only one thought kept replaying inside, he had to escape!
Activated by fear his mind seemed to turn quicker than normal as he tried to figure out a way out of his current situation. That was also the moment he remembered that he had one way left, his hands moved quickly to try and reach his pocket as he struggled to take out a pen he always carried with him. 
A desparate glow appeared in Alvin's eyes as he stabbed down at the tentacle that was wrapped around his body. The consequence of his action seemed to have little effect, nothing more than a pebble thrown into the sea. 
For the first time in his life Alvin had an abnormal thought, he didn't want to end up as food for the monster that was dragging him closer and closer to the center of the room.
His eyes stared at the pen in his hands that had gone through the tentacle of light without any result. The struggle of wanting to live and dying a strange death played in his mind. Without turning back, he decisively stabbed the pen towards his neck.

By some miraculous twist of fate a failed writer finds himself in a world he never expected to exist. However he has a system? And he is in a baby's body!?

Our places on this earth are divided by oceans setting us apart from one continent to another. Several countries speaking several languages to understand each other. People with several cultures and beliefs. Different personalities and opinions.

In this chaotic world, we live in called real life we search for a place to escape from that reality. To be accepted as who or what we are. We have found that in the music we sing. In the books, we read. In the movies we watch. In the places, we travel and visit. Everywhere in which we get inspiration to face reality head-on.

We write stories or poems to inspire others, reading the words we weave from our own world. For some of us, it is simply an escape from reality into a world in which we can use our imaginations to dream make-believe or to live our secret fantasies or just plain be creative.

Getting on the web gives us more ways to share and get connected to other people with the same kind of thinking from across the ocean. Some of the people we meet along the way give us reasons to smile again. It's where we become friends, get to know them well, and get so close that we even trust them enough to share our own greatest fears.

I was a living a kind of living death when I found solace here on Stories Space. A place to write, camouflaging my hatred and sadness from myself when I was reading all the poetry and fictional fantasies created by the writers. I found another escape from reality and indulged in reading.

My feelings from my own troubles in life had made me feel so empty that only through laughter and reading could I be free and somewhat whole again.

I made my own heaven in purgatory.

A friend told me to write down all of my pains and troubles in poems or stories. Another friend of mine told me to be fierce in my poetry writing. I found friends who helped me give my own life a reason to continue living again through writing.

Writing makes me calm every time my mind gets into a panic mode. The pains and the fears of the unknown are my muses for writing.

When I met someone who understood me and made me feel needed and loved my poetry changed its tune. It made me think of happy thoughts. I got inspired by the things I saw and the happy memories of my childhood that I could write about.

Painful memories and realities were always there and so I wrote about them from time to time.

When that someone left me I continued writing. The same inner muse I had gained I used to keep on writing.

Then, out of nowhere, I got to know you. I became happy again. This time I got even more inspired and more creative, experimenting with my writings.

I set aside my shyness and reservations to write creatively. I still can't overcome some of my shyness and reservation but I am blooming, inspired by you.

You became my muse.

The man in the moon. The stars in my darkest hours. When at night I can't sleep thinking of you calms me to sleep.

The sunshine after the heavy storm. Where all the dead trees come to life again. That keeps me warm when everything gets chilly.

My own little heaven in my real life purgatory.

Jae-Sik hesitated in front of Gun-Ho's office before he entered the office.
"Hey, Jae-Sik, please come in. The guests already left."
Jae-Sik entered the office and sat carefully at the conference table in Gun-Ho's office.
"I talked with the lady president who used to work for KimBooks."
"That's good. So you found her phone number."
"My college friend who was my junior at that time happened to work for KimBooks at their editorial department. He also majored in creative writing like me. He made me promise to him that I wouldn't tell anyone that I got her number from him."
"Really? So what does that lady president say?"
"She said she wanted to have some time off from her work at first. And then, once she found out that the person who wanted to talk with her is the president of a big auto parts company, she seems to be interested suddenly."
"So is she willing to meet with me?"
"She said she would visit the company. It seems that she has already been contacted by so many swindlers who said they would want to start a publishing company with her. So, she wants to make sure that you are really the person who is running a big company."
"Haha, really? So when is she coming here?"
"She said she will be here by 2 pm tomorrow."
"That's good. You should be here by 2 pm tomorrow too, okay?"
"Okay, I will."
"Do you have any information on her? Like how old she is?"
"I don't know much about her, but as far as I know, she graduated from Ewha Woman's University; she should be in her late 40s. She has an extensive sales network in the publishing industry, and she has incisive eyes in selecting good books to publish."
"Haha. I see. Okay, I will see you tomorrow at my office."
 
Gun-Ho was dozing off in his office after lunch when Jae-Sik came with a lady. She was that lady president who was known to have the hand of Midas in the publishing field; her name was Jeong-Sook Shin. She looked proud and intelligent. She walked into the office with a long white scarf around her neck. Jae-Sik introduced her to Gun-Ho.
"She is the previous president of KimBooks. This is President Gun-Ho Goo of GH Mobile here."
She offered first her hands to Gun-Ho for a handshake.
"I'm Jeong-Sook Shin. Very nice to meet you."
"I'm Gun-Ho Goo. Please have a seat."
Jeong-Sook sat on a chair.
"I was surprised twice since I came to this company. At first, I was surprised by the size of the company. I was actually expecting to see a factory with several tens of workers, but there are 250 workers in this company. Second, I was surprised because the president of this big company is so young. When I heard that the president of a manufacturing company is interested in starting a publishing company, I expected to see an old man."
 
Gun-Ho picked up the book written by Professor Jien Wang—Economy Trend in China for the 21st Century and showed it to Jeong-Sook.
"A friend of mine in China wrote this book. I want to publish this book in Korea."
The lady was wondering.
"Are you saying that you just want to publish this book, rather than starting a publishing company?"
"Of course not. I want to publish books that are best-selling books on Amazon.com, starting from this book here. I heard you have discerning eyes for recognizing good books."
"Since you are running a big company, I suppose you have enough funds to invest. How much do you intend to invest in a publishing company?"
"How much do you think would be enough?"
"It will take a few months to publish a book, and you need to pay for the expenses including labor until then. You can assume that it will take at least 300 million won until a publishing company starts generating enough income to be self-sufficient."
"300 million won. Okay. With how much salary would you be happy to work with me in running a publishing company?"
"I don't remember telling you that I would work with you in running a publishing business. I just came here out of curiosity since I am taking my time off from work, and I heard someone in the manufacturing industry was interested in the publishing industry."
"I don't know anything about publishing business, but you have been in the publishing field for a long time, and you have extensive experience and discernment in selecting books. I will take care of the necessary funds. Would you work with me and start a publishing company?"
"I have a few conditions."
"What are they?"
 
"First, I don't want to be interfered in running the publishing company."
"That I can do. I can't interfere with something I don't know about. Moreover, I don't have time or energy to do so since I have another company that I need to run."
"Hahaha. That's the thing I like about. That's why I have declined many offers to work together in running a publishing company. I knew you wouldn't interfere in the publishing business since you have your manufacturing company to run."
"Is there a second condition?"
"I'd like to have a stock option in addition to a salary. The major reason why I quit KimBooks was that I couldn't reach an agreement with its president on a stock option. I want 10%."
Gun-Ho shook his head.
"I have a company in China, and I give a stock option of 5%. I can't give you more than that. I need to keep balance and fairness within my companies. Moreover, a publishing business requires me to take a high risk of failure, and the business is not a type of business that would generate substantial revenue."
"Okay, then I will take a salary plus 5% stock option."
"Okay, I will give you that. However, I have a few conditions as well."
"I am listening."
 
"I want you to let Mr. Jae-Sik Moon manage the editorial department."
"Mr. Jae-Sik Moon? Of course, I would love to work with him. He used to work in the publishing industry, and he is an award-winning author of a full-length novel as well. He has extensive work experience in editing as well."
"Secondarily, I know three people in a design company in Seoul. I want you to hire them."
"I can give them an opportunity to have an interview with me. I need to see them first before I can tell you whether I would hire them or not. However, since you recommend them, I will see their qualification favorably."
"I will provide you an office-tel that is located close to the Gangnam station in Seoul."
"Sure. An office-tel would be enough until the company becomes stable."
"Okay then. We will contact you as soon as we complete any administration work on our side. The capital of the company is 300 million won, and the company's name will be GH Media. We will register Gun-Ho Goo and Jeong-Sook Shin as the directors of the company. For any paperwork we need from you in order to register your name as the director of the company, you will be contacted by Manger Seong-Il Kang from GH Development in Seoul."
"Sounds good."
 
When Jeong-Sook and Jae-Sik walked out of Gun-Ho's office, Jeong-Sook asked,
"What does President Goo's father do?"
"President Goo is a self-made successful man."
"Wow! He is so young though."
"He has another factory being built right now; they will soon move to that location. The new factory is in Jiksan Town; he is building a highly advanced factory in a 5,000 pyung large land there."
"5,000 pyung? Wow, he is an amazing person. I don't understand why he wants to have a small publishing company though."
"Why not? He probably likes it a lot."
 
Gun-Ho made a call to his office in Seoul—GH Development. Ji-Young Jeong picked up the phone.
"How is the design company next door doing?"
"Nothing has changed yet, sir. The office is still closed temporarily."
"You said that you know well the person who worked for that company, right?"
"Yes, the person I am close to is the team leader of their design team."
"Can you tell her to come to the office? Tell her that I will acquire that design company."
"Sir? Are you going to buy that design company?"
"Yes. I will be there by noon today. Tell her that I want to meet with her at noon if she doesn't have any prior engagement."
"Sure, I will let her know."

This is the story of a poor young man whose poverty even shreds apart their family willing to climb his way through society and into the top. A very realistic novel that moves away from fantasy and sci-fi and focuses solely on the issues of society and life.

I finished writing the basics of the EXP system, and now stuck in the elemental system (almost done, but need some creative ideas!)

But one day the unlucky Voidne crossed through a wormhole by a mistake, that sent him into a parallel universe to occupy the body of the Voidne from that universe.

Thus, his intensive training for appendectomy officially began.
Zheng Ren used everything he knew—whatever it was what he had learned, seen or heard previously—and even made some creative modifications to the treatment techniques of various surgical case scenarios to confront the different inflamed appendixes and countless tricks thrown at him by the System.
He had subscribed to many sources of medical literature due to his insatiable hunger for knowledge.
He was also creative and had countless thoughts and ideas.
As he entered this land of bliss in his mysterious world, he completely forgot about the imminent danger threatening his life like a knife on his throat.
He devoted himself entirely to improving his skill in appendectomy and even put various creative and unorthodox theories into practice.
In the end, Zheng Ren made a flower out of a plain and simple appendectomy.
From fifteen minutes for a simple appendectomy at the start, he was able to treat a complicated case of phlegmonous appendicitis within five minutes. Everything else in his mind was cast aside as he immersed himself in an inextricable, addictive mire. 
The System's rating was updated from Good to Excellent.
With only two days left on the training program, it finally concluded that Zheng Ren could perform an appendectomy perfectly.
Even so, he did not dare to slack off and tried his best to improve every surgical step as much as possible, since his life was at stake. 
When the timer finally reached zero, the operating theater started dissipating and, without warning, Zheng Ren was immediately flung out of the mysterious world.
The world was etched in shadow as if the sky was a blanket of gray and a storm was about to hit. Even the air was no longer fresh, as the faint, metallic scent of blood lingered in the atmosphere.
Splash… The sound of running tap water snapped Zheng Ren's mind back to reality.
Time in the real world had remained stationary but Zheng Ren had a strange feeling that he was at least twenty years older at present.
He had performed almost 2300 appendectomy surgeries within that split second, which were basically all the appendectomies he would do in his entire life.
After rinsing the surgical instruments thoroughly and quickly, he placed them into a sterilization box and opened the procedure room door.
"Hello, Doctor Zheng."
The voices were thunderous and simultaneous. 
Those brutes were nowhere to be seen; instead, Elder San was standing there leisurely along with two rows of ten men in the corridor, who bowed and greeted in unison as soon as the door opened.
"Cool!" Surrounding bystanders were excited to see such a spectacular scene.
"I'm sorry, Doctor Zheng. Ms. Bu has some issues to attend to and can't visit you personally. May I ask if you are free tonight?" asked Elder San courteously.
Time? That was exactly what Zheng Ren lacked at the moment.
Thus, he answered instinctively without the slightest hesitation, "No."
"..."
There was a moment of awkward silence.
Elder San, who was briefly stunned, smiled and replied without losing his manners, "We shall visit you again next time, Doctor Zheng."
"That's… That's very kind of you." Zheng Ren realized his mistake immediately, but how could he waste time for leisure when his life was being threatened by the System? If he missed an appendectomy because of this… Well, he would be one step closer to hell.
He had no choice but to go with the flow, so he explained apologetically, "I'm really busy these few days. I'll be free after this."
Instead of continuing the conversation, Elder San summoned Little Six to apologize to Zheng Ren and departed.
Once Elder San and his people had left the hospital, the doctors and nurses of the emergency department surrounded Zheng Ren immediately to ask about the incident just now.
"Zheng Ren, come to my office." A voice reached Zheng Ren's ears, which saved him from getting overwhelmed by the situation.
He recognized it as the voice of Old Chief Physician Pan and squeezed through the crowd quickly. "Chief Physician Pan, you've returned."
"Yes, we'll have a chat in my office."
After they entered the room, Chief Physician Pan immediately sat on his swivel chair and said, "Do you know what I did today?"
Zheng Ren was at a loss for words as he was still unaccustomed to Chief Physician Pan's speaking style.
"I demanded hospital management transfer some staff for my plan to establish an emergency operating theater," said Chief Physician Pan, who was staring at Zheng Ren intently with a piercing gaze, as if he was a general in an expeditionary warfare. "Do you feel confident?"
He cut straight to the point without any greeting or prior warning.
Zheng Ren fell in love with Chief Physician Pan's disposition instantly.
Chief Physician Pan's words nearly made him weep and he was willing to dedicate himself entirely to this elderly man for saving his life.
What troubled Zheng Ren the most? Before this, it had been performing ten appendectomies perfectly within three days. After that fifteen days in hell, this mission was not a problem any more. 
Zheng Ren figured that his surgical technique for appendectomy had reached a Master rank or higher after performing thousands of appendectomies of different variations within the System. He could still potentially fall short of perfection, but the chances of that were very minimal.
The real problem was… Where the hell was he supposed to find patients with acute appendicitis? The operating theater? A surgical team—nurses for both the operating theater and patients' postoperative care, anesthesiologists, clinicians—would be required as well.
In other words, an appendectomy was one of the simplest minor surgeries in the general surgery department, but at least twenty more staff would be required if this simple surgery was to be performed in the emergency department.
Where else would he perform an appendectomy apart from the emergency department? It would be unwise to return to the general surgery department, and there was not enough time for him to change his workplace, either.
If he were honest with himself, his initial plan was to perform the surgeries in some random, illegal clinic.
Chief Physician Pan furrowed his eyebrows, which radiated the austerity of two intimidating black dragons, when he noticed Zheng Ren's peculiar expression.
Zheng Ren snapped out of his thoughts and answered immediately, "Chief Physician Pan, I can start performing surgeries as soon as the team is assembled."
Zheng Ren's words softened Chief Physician Pan's stony expression slightly.
"Any thoughts?"
"In order to train the team and speed up the adaptation process, I'm going to perform all available appendectomy cases first," said Zheng Ren confidently.
Smack! Chief Physician Pan slammed his palm onto the table suddenly which made Zheng Ren jump up in shock.
"Exactly what I had in mind. Do you know what I've been doing this whole day?" asked Chief Physician Pan.
"I visited the director, the nursing department, and the anesthesiology department to request for some staff transfers," answered Chief Physician Pan, who was in high spirits, "Doctor Zheng Ren, I'm going to need you to develop a hardworking spirit and build a successful surgical team as soon as possible!"
Normally, these words would have definitely and greatly exhaust Zheng Ren.
However, today, they were like music to his ears.
What a lifesaver! Zheng Ren fought the urge to rush forward, hug Chief Physician Pan, and cry. 
He had to complete ten surgeries perfectly with a knife to his neck. The stress was overwhelming but Zheng Ren needed to vent his anxiety elsewhere.
"Chief Physician Pan, please tell them to hurry up. I'd like to perform surgery immediately if conditions permit it," said Zheng Ren.
Chief Physician Pan was visibly startled as he heard this.
After running around the hospital and repeatedly asking for favors for a whole day, Chief Physician Pan's plan was finally starting to take shape. 
He was even thinking about how to persuade Zheng Ren—who was the only surgeon in the emergency department—on the way back to the hospital. He could assist Zheng Ren in surgery temporarily, but he would definitely be exhausted—especially in his advancing age—if there were more than five surgeries in a day.
To his surprise, his plan was going so smoothly that it was almost beyond his control.
Chief Physician Pan pointed at the chair opposite him. "Sit down and talk."
Zheng Ren finally noticed that he had been standing in front of Chief Physician Pan like a soldier ever since they had entered the office.
"Little Zheng, I can see that you're talented but unrecognized. You may suffer for a while in the emergency department but trust me, you'll benefit in the long run," Chief Physician Pan said sincerely without his usual sternness.
"Chief Physician Pan, don't worry. I'm not afraid of trouble," replied Zheng Ren confidently.
Chief Physician Pan had been prepared to negotiate with Zheng Ren initially but the young doctor's enthusiasm was beyond his expectations. 
Motivated and impulsive. Oh… It must be nice to be young.
"Well, we can't rush everything, since it takes time to allocate related personnel too. Besides, we have to start small and figure out how to improve flaws later."

Everything had its own destiny. It was unalterable.
Dejected and dispirited, Zheng Ren left Chief Physician Pan's office with his mind full of thoughts about the mission—ten surgeries within three days.
If all else failed, he could visit the villages around Sea City to treat any appendicitis case.
However, it was difficult to perform appendectomies perfectly there due to unsatisfactory sterilization and disinfection conditions.
The System's unknown threat left Zheng Ren in distress and sadness.

Chief Physician Pan shook the calm and peaceful atmosphere of the hospital like a catfish stirring up mud in a crystal-clear pond.
It had been a long time since Sea City General Hospital planned a major project. Soon, everyone in the hospital knew that the emergency department was planning to expand its territory with the establishment of a new emergency operating theater.
The general surgery department and orthopedic surgery department bore the brunt of this project as the minor surgeries in these two departments happened to be the most common cases seen in the emergency department.
The chief surgeons in the first and second general surgery department were instantly restless and troubled when they caught wind of the emergency department's plan on using acute appendicitis cases to initiate the project.
After a brief discussion, they brought several subordinate doctors to the emergency department to confront those behind the new development.
A dozen doctors in white coats appeared on one end of the corridor. The group was arranged in a triangle resembling a sharp arrowhead, with two chief surgeons leading the group at its tip followed by the deputy chief surgeons, attending surgeons, chief residents, and clinicians. 
Most people would be struck with awe witnessing this shocking and magnificent scene. 
However, both Zheng Ren and Chief Physician Pan were immune to such foibles.
"Old Pan, I heard that you're going to establish an emergency operating theater?" hissed Chief Surgeon Liu of the first general surgery department, who had reached the limit of his patience. His intense hatred of the whistleblower—Zheng Ren—compelled him to launch an attack immediately upon arrival without even an attempt a chit-chat.
"Did the hospital management transfer you guys to the emergency department?" asked Chief Physician Pan, who was looking askew at Chief Surgeon Liu despite knowing the answer. 
"Would there be anyone else willing to come here? If so, why have I never heard of it?" Chief Surgeon Liu retaliated immediately.
"Why are you guys so free, anyway? Is there no surgery happening at all in the general surgery department? You're all doctors, so start behaving like one! I may be senile, but you're not supposed to act with such immaturity, either! Who the hell gave you the courage to cause trouble in the emergency department?!" Chief Physician Pan, sometimes called 'Cannon Pan', was known for his caustic level of sarcasm during arguments.
Everyone lowered their head and avoided direct eye contact with him as he pointed at them, radiating a tyrant's aura.
Chief Surgeons Liu and Chief Surgeon Sun from the second general surgery department immediately felt that things were going wrong. Both departments had the best and most advanced technical skills in general surgery in the province, and they were here on the offensive against the emergency department, not to get reprimanded by Chief Physician Pan.
"Old Pan, I respect your contribution to the military hospital before, but is there anyone capable of performing surgery in the emergency department? Who is going to take responsibility for delays in treatment for emergency cases?" asked Chief Surgeon Liu sullenly after regaining his cool.
"Yo!" Chief Physician Pan was completely disinterested in humoring Chief Surgeon Liu. "Do you still remember who taught you surgery? You dare ask me who'll take responsibility? I, Old Pan, am standing here right now; of course the responsibility is mine!"
Chief Surgeon Liu was Chief Physician Pan's student? Hardly anyone in the hospital knew of this mentor-apprentice relationship since the connection between the two was not obvious at all.
Chief Surgeon Liu's expression darkened instantly as Chief Physician Pan flaunted his seniority, which forced him to concede their argument. Even if he was justified, none of it would matter when the hospital CEO condemned him for disrespecting an elderly colleague. 
Thus, he directed his vitriol at Zheng Ren.
"Zheng Ren, I taught you everything you know, and now you want to become the lead surgeon of the emergency department? Let me tell you something, you're not qualified!"
Zheng Ren was well-mannered and meek. He never fought back, quarreled or grumbled no matter what happened.
However, there was a cold, sharp feeling at his throat. Three days left.
Rather than being a coward, he simply felt that arguing was pointless. However, inevitably, even a worm will turn.
Sparks flew as Zheng Ren met Chief Surgeon Liu's gaze unflinchingly.
"Chief Surgeon Liu, Chief Physician Pan, how about this… I'll perform ten appendectomies and both of you can observe them together. If there is a single mistake or flaw in any of them, I will resign immediately," announced Zheng Ren.
